Even though I just want to keep a teen hair for like two hours, we'll do a. So I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, "Grass Fish." I was like, "So, like, um, what was your favorite snack growing up?" I'm here, it's all good, I'm here. Last one to the airport, by breakfast. By breakfast. Okay, guys, I had to wear the big chains today. Um, no. Just cut. He's like, "I'm going to put the chains on." Oh, this morning I was like, "Mike, we got patina on. I got to wear the big chain today." That was a chain. Alright, it's been. So, your last episode was what, almost three, four years ago now? Of this show? Yeah, of the crew has it. Oh yeah, oh my god, yes. Three? Yeah. So, yeah, three years. Yeah. Apparently patina didn't know that it was a video podcast. I didn't. No idea. So, today you came a little more dripped out. Just a little, not really drip, but just more presentable. You know? Not leopard, not animal print. What has been up? What's been going on in patina's world? I mean, everything and nothing at the same time lies to say nothing, but everything, you know? Like, busy, the show ending, the show now premiering, traveling, you know, being a mommy. Yeah. Trying to figure out what's next. So, everything. Everything. Life, you know? Yeah, no, no. Were you in traveling too? Yeah. Well, I went on a couple trips. I went to Cabo. Oh, fire. Yeah. So good. This last, like, two weeks, three weeks ago. I'm still there. How long were you there for? We were there for, like, four days. Okay. Yeah, it was a nice little girl's trip. It was really fun. Nice. Really, really fun. And just, you know, I'm on this Comic Con circuit because I don't know if you guys know. I am on an animated TV show as well. It's called Hasman Hotel. Is newer? Pat is second season is out, but it's like a huge, it has like this, a huge fandom, like the, it's a whole thing. And so, I've been sort of introduced into the Comic Con of it all. So I've been traveling and meeting fans from that show. So, weren't you, were you on an animated show before or like? I was. Yeah. Kids growing up. I remember you were talking about that. I was. I was on a little show called Word Party. Oh, yeah, right. The narrator's so funny. Like a lot of the, a lot of the people who watch our show, a lot of the sort of feedback I would get online or people talking to me. Like, oh, my God. It's crazy. We can watch power. And my daughter can watch Word Party. That's so funny. I don't have any kids that I know of, so I've never, I've not watched Word Party yet. The night is still young, you know? Wow. Okay. Well, it's out there, just in case. Okay. You find out some things. How fun is it doing animation? It's fun. Because I get to like show up, use my voice, have fun in the studio. I'm not working with anyone. I mean, I like as an actor. I like working with other people, but it is so nice to just use your imagination. And try things. And, you know, you have no idea. You just have your lines. You're not acting opposite of anyone else other than sort of the voice, the vocal coach. And you just make choices and you hope that it fits the animation. Yeah. And it's just such a big, like, vast production. So many people are pivotal and critical to it being a success. Yeah. You know, but it's fun. I like being in the studio. So it's the same for Word Party and. Yeah. The one that you filmed. Yeah, it has been hotel. Yeah. I mean, you could tell me if I'm wrong. I've done it. I've only done commercial animation work. I've never like been on a show. But, I mean, I knew a lot of the people would do Bob's burgers. Yeah. And you just go into like a Sarah condition room. You do. And you just like have fun and leave. Snacks. You know, you have fun. You do your lines and then you leave. Now, I do sing on the show. So it's a little bit like it's not just okay. Well, you just do your lines and leave. It's essentially what we do here, actually. You know, for sure. It's like we have it easy as well. It's easy but hard at the same time. Yeah. Because, you know, as an actor, you kind of like have yourself. You bring yourself to it. You're in character. But when you're in the studio, it's just your voice. Right. And so having your voice tell a story. Especially when you're trying to make it real and authentic and cool and like connected. It takes work. And people think that that's very easy as well. Doing voice overwork. But it's not. It's a skill. It's a skill. Yeah, you do. Because I did like an audition for a voice. For like a voice, I think. And like I was like, I was mad nervous before I started. I was like, how the hell am I supposed to sound? Yeah. Oh yeah. You have to sound a lot more animated than you think. Yeah. It's so fun. You think you're like, oh, Dean, but really it's like. No, they want you to like go and try things and try many things. But honestly, I never know what it's. Sometimes I know what I'm doing. Like there's so many things that I've auditioned for. Voice over wise where I'm like, well, let me just throw something out there. Hopefully it sticks. You just never know what they're looking for. Have you ever had, have you had any wild encounters at Comic Con? I have. Oh, I got to hear it. You know what? I know there's a lot. That world is like, can be wild. It is so wild, but I have to say as. I think like, you know, people really, just like this fandom and how. The power versus just people are really connected to these characters. And people love it. And it's just so nice to connect with people who love the show. Love you as a character. They think that you're the character. And so it's the same with Hasman Hotel. You know, I get people who come up dressed like me, singing to me. That's fine. People who cry and say how the show and the characters have changed their life or like got them through an illness or, you know, it's heavy, heavy stuff. But then like, you know, sometimes you sometimes it could get. A little crazy, but for the most part, I have only experienced. Good stuff. Yeah, when people are singing you or you like. Like if somebody came up to me and was like, they say this isn't. I'd be like, I don't know what the fuck I would do. No, it's done. No, it's done there. No, it's like sang to me. But they've been like jokingly done it. I couldn't imagine this. Passionately like doing. I got. There's actually a kid that goes viral. Have you seen this? Oh, yes, I have. He goes up to people. He's hilarious. It's so funny. I couldn't imagine it being like how like when like aspiring artists like see rappers. And then they go to them. Oh, yeah. Like sorry. And then the rapper just sitting there just waiting up. Yeah, like waiting for them to be done. They just like. Yeah. Has anyone ever come up to either of you and act it before? And I'm like, I can act. No, I don't think that's ever happened to me. I don't want it to happen to me. You know, I've had people send me their sort of like their impressions of me as. Their impressions of them as Raquel is my character. Oh, wait. There is a guy that does it. What's his name? There's so many who do it so well. He's talking about the, um, the funny as guy. I think. Yes. Yo, he's a little. Yeah. And Brittany, I'm starting with soul. They're so good. I mean, I met them at the party. They're just so lovely. Yeah. But their skits are insane. I know. They're like, oh, it's like. They're so talented. I know. They OD it sometimes. They're just like, because I remember I saw someone do one of me. And I was like, offended at first. And I was like, oh, why am I? Like for like a split second, I was like, fuck them. Because apparently it was like, uh, uh, uh, uh, stretch of episodes where my mouth was always open like to Michael. What the fuck? So they were just like, oh, yeah. And all the comments are like, yeah, his mouth is always open. I was like, he's fun. But you know what? That's part of the shit though. Yeah. Yeah. But it's so funny. They're so great. They're so talented. You got to be so talented to be able to do what the way that they do it. I think both of them. And they're, uh, I've come across a lot of people who do skits on the show. That they're just, they're really, really interesting. Yeah. And how cool that our show in this universe gets sort of like, you know what I mean? Inspire people to make other was laugh and sort of like talk about the show, um, in another way. And just, you know, it makes it light. And I always think if, if someone's, you have to be on a good job, if someone's, you know. A hundred percent enough for sure. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, okay. I saw, we could cut this if you want. But I saw the architectural digest of the grid. Have you seen it? It's a crazy show. I was like, I got to get my bread out. That was crazy. So, um, like, what is that like? They just come in and just film your whole house. Like, is that weird? Yeah. You know what the whole experience was. It's an MTV trivia. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely. The whole thing, I mean, listen, we worked with fantastic designers. I, they are my friends, actually, and we worked with. And they had done a piece on our other apartment. So, we had been on an AD, um, not to, you know. Not the type of shit in it and all that. No, no, no. I mean, we really love design. Um, and we worked with some incredible, um, artists and Terry designers. And, you know, they helped us on that apartment. And then when we moved, we thought like, yeah, we have to, we have to be, you know, collaborate with them again. Yeah. And so, when they told us that AD wanted to feature our place, it was like, really? Uh, okay. And you know, it's, that thing of, it's cool, but also sort of like privacy and like a very private person. Yeah. And so, you know, I really treat my home as my safe space and so to share it with others. Yeah. That was a lot. But I mean, to be able to be featured in architectural digest and, you know, be interviewed. Um, and have my family, you know, just to show off, not really show off, but just to share our space. And what we love and, and what we like, value, record player. Yeah. So what is that? They are, uh, they're 26 boom boxes. Yeah like old school boom boxes and they we got that it wasn't even my idea it was my husband's and the designer's idea first I was like boom boxes up no we're not doing that like in the parlor really and then I was like oh that actually could be a moment you know because my my husband and the whole mass appeal of it all the he is partners with Nas and so like that's like a big hip hop is a really is really big for him and also for me and just being on a really cool 90 show it just kind of makes sense to showcase it in that way and how cool to to get to showcase like your aesthetic and what you like in school it's like that is so fired because I'll be watching some of them like I walk into a crib like cuz I'm looking at cruise right now I'm like I walk into I'm like I do like I don't know how people think of this like it takes time took three years it took three years and P.S. still not done it's never done and but I think that's the cool part of it like not rushing to put pieces up not rushing to just like buy everything and really taking your time and seeing what you like living in it a little bit and like what am I into what do I want people to feel when they enter my space like I'm a very chill cool person like I think I'm more than inviting and I want the space that I have to reflect that so when people come over they feel accepted they feel like they can beat themselves and like we can just chill and that really that's just kind of like what the whole thing behind our place was I think that's where I for sure I've been going everything to be done one go first day I guess it takes a little it does it does because then like you buy all that first off nothing is fast furniture takes a lot of time like like everything takes I'm at least like six to eight months like you know what I mean it's a lot but then you get it and then you're like oh I was just in a moment and I bought that and now I'm ready you know like it doesn't make sense so you want things that are meaningful at least in my opinion you want things that are meaningful so I know my dream is to be in like architectural that just like have a house and eventually and get there and there's a big but you just have like plate loose playboy post it yeah it's actually a good point like I probably should take those down it's just like the most like your mattresses on the floor you're in a sick house but like you just got playboy everywhere you know that's just that yeah it might be cool I might be like a throwback you know hey it's all good okay so you're you're back on Broadway well not yet but I will be you know by the time this airs yes I will be in rehearsals for a new play or are you how do you feel about it I feel great the Broadway is home being on stage is home for me I've been really blessed to be able to go back and forth you know doing TV and then getting the opportunity to be on Broadway and so I'm really really really yeah man you're very proud of that I'm very proud no I I think Broadway is a place where I can go and like work on the you know just the the craft and being on stage and being able to work with other artists on a stage and create it's a play I've never done a play so this is not musical you know what's the difference what's the preparation difference how do you like I just don't really know so no yeah I mean like you know there's a lot that goes into a musical I mean you know you got the voice you got the acting you got like the body itself and you know making sure you can do all of those things and it's eight shows a week and so the prep for that is like all right well you know half hour the 730 but then you got a warm up and so like how do you want to warm up especially if it's like a hard week where you've had four shows already and you're not feeling great like it's just about the pre and it's a lot and so for me I have to be at the theater like two hours early say NBA game you know you got to like stretch you have to vocally warm up try to like get centered before half hour and then you go on and do the thing and then you meet fans outside so it's like a whole marathon a little bit it is this a pre-existing show or is this a new thing so it was it's not a new show it's called school girls or the African Mean Girls you know play and it is it was all Broadway in I think 2017 but it's having its Broadway debut at the Manhattan Theater Club and it hasn't started yet you're you're the first one you're it's all it has not started yet nope it was just announced and who are your classmates I so I don't know everyone I know that Dene Benton isn't it Jasmine Rogers and just some credible girls as a woman you know like I'm really excited to work with an all-female cast you know all black women it's it's the the show's right to vibe like it's cool it's gonna be really really really fun I'm excited are you already off book like are you I'm not a book yet give me like well I don't know I'm I don't I actually am curious about the process so you like my process probably I'm giving myself some time my process is is that I'll start trying to find my interpretation of the character fairly soon like I'm giving myself like a few more weeks to you know figure out how my character speaks and like walks and like all the the initial things of building a character which is the fun part for me before we go into rehearsal and also it's you know gotta have another accent well you know so gotta work on that work with the dialect coach but it should be fun do you do you approach TV and and probably differently like when you're getting those things you know work character exact same building a character is building a character and the work is the work I think one of the things that really set me up to go into this world Raquel and Raisin Canaan was my theater background being able to build characters sitting with sort of like you know like this stuff that you learn in acting class about like how your character walks like what do you character sound like just doing all the little nerdy things and so actually being able to build a character knowing what that's like I was able to kind of like float in to Canaan you know we rehearse everything we rehearse everything on the show and become memorized memorized to a point but just memorized enough so where you can play and have fun and if it changes then that's okay but I really really just wanted to it taught me to be prepared and so for theater all you got is yourself and your classmates out there there is no cut there is no let's do that again I mean you could actually do that if you wanted to I doubt people do it but you know there's no stopping the show must go on and there are people watching you and there is something so like you know the stakes yeah I was just talking to I was just talking to Cedric of the entertainment body cuz I want to go see him and Taraji's play he's telling me like they mess up all the time but the crowd would never know cuz they just like they just keep it flowing and I was like and that's and that's fun right like when you get out of when you're first starting out that can be very you know limiting can hold you back a little bit but I think the joy is knowing obviously you want to know your lines but things do happen if you've been in a run for a long time you're doing eight shows a week sometimes something happens an audience member might be chewing lali or somebody might come in it might like mess up your you know your focus and you go up on a line but you just when you have great people around you they carry you they cover you do things and after that is just there's something about like that feeling like you just feel so proud that like you got through you know and so that fuels you for the rest of the play to be locked in or the rest of music just like lock in listen in a way that you maybe weren't listening before you know and get out of your head guys we're Yeah, I also feel like the way that I learned acting was like denying nothing. So if there was a year in a scene and something weird happens on state with your character, like you say yes. Yeah, you have to just like go with it. If they fuck up, you're just like, well, you don't mean that you don't have to be locked in that moment, but we didn't, so when you did your last episode, we had not seen into the woods yet. And so you kind of just have to like know that and just go through and P.S. I had a couple of those moments on stage where I said some weird stuff. Like what? Like it just came out. Like I don't even know what I said. Like you're not nice. You're just rice. And like that. And I was like really focused on my my classmates and I was really in it. And I'm like, I'm going to make a choice. And in making this new choice, I for for some reason I went up on, but I was still attacking it. And so like they didn't know, but it was one of those things where like, I'm sure someone was like. And of course on the show ended on on on Instagram. I was like, I'll never forget the dead. The night hearing patina say, you're not nice, you're just rice. Oh my God. Yeah. What was supposed to be said? Do you remember like what's right? Right. I'm not nice. I'm just right. I'm the witch of the world. Yeah. But you know what? You just keep going. You just keep going. You keep with the stakes. And like it'll land where it's supposed to land. But like had I fallen apart, the rest of the song would have been messed up. And it would have been a hot mess. I mean, it was so cool. So who played that character in the movie? Oh, I'm glad. No, not Meryl Streep. Did you watch it before? I didn't. I mean, because I was very familiar with Into the Woods. And so I had seen Bernadette Peters. I seen like all the renditions of the show interpretations. And obviously, Meryl Streep's version as well. But I was just, you know, the character really spoke to me. And that's where I was in my journey. I was a new mom when I first got the role. Like my daughter was like three. So I understood the character. So I really just went in with that. Like, you know, let me just focus in on how I feel connected to the show. Yeah. And obviously, Sondheim is amazing in the lyrics. And what the show means just as a person on a journey going through life. You know, it's very deep, the show. Yeah. It's not just a musical in fairy tales. It's really about life and trauma. So insane in that role. Like, thank you. It needs to be filmed somehow. Somehow. Oh, my God. I will never forget that. Would you go back to, like, if they? 100%. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It was just after not being on stage for eight years to come back. And to be, you know, the reception, to be, you know, I don't know. Welcome back in the way that I was, but also to work with incredible artists on great material. That's kind of like the actors doing this, what you want. And so I love, I love being on stage. So I'm really pumped about doing a play. I remember I spoke to Cedric about like the preparation for it. But I forgot exactly what does, what does the preparation look like for a play or a musical? For a play or musical. I know for a musical, you're in a rehearsal space for like five weeks. And how long do rehearsals last? Last from 10 to 6. And that's every day. That's every day. Yeah. So that's basically like you feel me through. So yeah, yeah, yeah, they're long. They're super, super long days. So you're just trying to like, it's dedication. It is dedication. It is. It's work like five weeks. And then, then you're rehearsing it during the day and you're performing it at night when you go into preview. So like, you're still working. And then. Because they also have the, they also have the rehearsal in front of the girl. Yeah, yeah. During the day. So like, when I did a new musical, they were changing the script during the day. The literal pages, songs, everything. Oh, no. You have. Yeah. When I tell you like, the work and my career and what I've done early in my career has like, just prepared me for all the things just to kind of like move and like, you know. Yeah. I have a lot of, you know, stuff like that. Oh, yeah. Piss me off. Bro, we get to say, they change like three lines and I'm like, I'm like, yeah, I'm going to do this today. The street's fucking lines and they'll be so about it. But it'll be in the theater and doing that will kind of like get you prepared. And I also did a soap right out of school. So like, being on the soap operas, like, they are fast. You can do three episodes in one day. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And they don't rehearse. At least when I, when I come out, they were not rehearsing and I had all my scenes with Susan Lucci. And, you know, she was like the diva of daytime and, you know, I would have loved to rehearse. But it's one of those things where you just come on. You're surrounded by epic people and you just have to move and you have to do what you have to do. And that's where I learn to just like memorize so quickly and in between takes like, okay, well, I got to memorize an entire two more episodes to shoot. Yeah. I think of those hours on like doing Broadway. I worked on as a PA on Will and Grace when they did like that. Wow. Rebooting like almost 10 years ago. Not the reboot. They did a, they did one episode for the election because it was like a Hillary Clinton, like whatever. So I worked on it as a PA. And then they went into the reboot after that. But like, they're hours. We're like, pull up at like 11. Yeah. And hop out of the car, maybe rehearsal for like 45 minutes to a run through for like an hour. They're like, all right. Even they make a streaming sitcom that everyone loves. Like I think maybe the last popular one that was that crazy was the ranch, was that Ash and Kutcher Netflix one? Oh yeah, that was a sitcom, but I don't know. How many years ago is that? I didn't want it. I don't even know. I don't even know. I don't know. There's no sitcoms. I don't know. Well, hey listen, someone listen, you guys, come on. C'mon crew, how's it bring a sitcom? You guys will be great on a sitcom. It's just very, the acting is very, I remember when I auditioned very early on to like a Disney show before anything. And they're like bigger, bigger. And you're like, how much bigger can I go and feel so fake? I don't know if I could do that. Yes, you could. I don't know. You're fun, you're funny. Like you want to get the laugh, because you know what it is. I will do anything. They're in the audience. So you've got to treat it like the theater. Because it's an audience. And you are essentially like performing for an audience. And that being bigger is like to feel the space. Because like, you know, that will in grace and like that larger than life sometimes, you need to kind of be a little bit big. You know, like, and so then those quiet moments like mean something. But yeah, those were so fun. I don't know that we have those. And maybe there are. And I'm just like going blank that I don't want to. HBO, you know, I mean, they do some really good stuff, but I did the pit as well. Okay, yeah. That was another one. I haven't seen that before. My dad's telling me to watch it all the time. It's good. It's fast. I just don't like procedural. It's procedural. Yeah. I don't love that. It is, but it's an elevated. That's what they're calling an elevated procedural. You know, smart. It has a lot of heart. It's fast. Yeah. And it hits you. It's fast. And I go watch it. Oh, it's fast. Me and me and Octavia gave him homework. He has to watch it the night of. Yeah, I got to watch it. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Yeah. It's my favorite show of all time. That? Oh, my God. And I love that there's only one season. So I don't got a bunch of catching up to do. Like, I'm not like watching it waiting to get to the conclusion of everything. So there's one season. I sit down for the day. Watch the whole thing. Yeah. It just takes a lot of time to like bench stuff, listen, even with like our universe. Right? It's a lot. It's a lot. It's a lot to kind of get through. And when you get behind, sometimes it can get a little bit, you know, you just feel like it's overwhelming. Yeah. You know, like, I wanted to watch Game of Thrones, but I'm so late that I'm like, can I do it? I'm seeing some Game of Thrones, isn't it? There's seven of the original, seven or six of the original. And then what I just could, all right, so I just told the story, but I needed, I did a movie with Sophie Turner. She was a celebrity in the movie. So the director was like, watch Game of Thrones, so you can draw from that. I was like, all right, cool. I watched like three seasons. I was like, yeah. I don't love it. There was too much more to go. Yeah. I mean, I mean, I've been seeing clips and it's probably going to make me watch the show. Watch it. It's only six episodes. Yeah. And then I started How's The Dragon of Child so love it. And I don't like that stuff. So I was like, it's got me. Did you see Project Hail Mary yet? No. I have not. Really? Yeah. Okay. I think you told me to watch that too. Yeah. It's crazy. I feel terrible. I haven't seen a lot. Yeah. I feel the worst when people ask me if I've seen stuff. And I've seen absolutely nothing. I would be like, you haven't seen it. I'm like, I think it's just because of what we do. Yeah. So like when you're not on a set, you kind of just want to like, yeah, not not. And my sentence, man, is also just fried. Yeah. I know. I think went to Michael's house last night, just video, he just loves the video and he's like in on it. Take talking video games. It's like we're cooked. Yeah. We're fried. I'm the same way. I'm like, yeah. Catch me on FIFA though. Yeah. Do you write it all? Ish. Ish. In what sense? Like, do you write scripts? No. You know what? I'm not really into writing scripts yet, but I have a lot of ideas and I do write a lot of those ideas down. So, you know, I have some projects that I'm a part of that are sort of in those initial stages. So I didn't write it, but you know, my feedback and I have ideas for my own thing that I would want to do. But lyrics and stuff, yes, for sure. Yeah. Have you released any like song? Not yet. Yeah. I mean, I have like so much. Well, we're waiting. She got an artist. Because I'm an artist and you know how it is when you're an artist and it's your stuff and you're just like. No, I mean, it's never good enough. You know what I mean? It's like you're going to be like picking at it until you can't pick at any more of it. That's why she's got it. I know. I know, I know. What kind of music is it? It's everything. It's like R&B. It's pop. It's soul. Oh, my God. It's sweet. It's like a because I have very, you know, blessed to love many different genres. And I think the whole musical side of me, like I've just kind of really been drawn to many different styles. And so I wanted to figure out a way that I could bring all of those styles together in one project. And I have, but it's still, we'll see. Wait, do you have a label or are you just straight and like do you have any independent? Yeah. I don't even know that's the best guess you could have though, like going well versed in all the genres. Oh, yeah. I mentioned them together. Oh, yeah. I mean, the video of you in the studio doing into the woods is nuts. Do you know what you want to talk about? Yes, I do. It's insane. Who knew that that would go like it's everywhere, you know, all the time. Yeah. I know all the things that Patina shows up to, she's just like wearing a hat and like she's like, I didn't know. That's like so mean in like everyday life to this, like, true, like let me draw a car. I'm like, hey. Let me work. You know, like I'm just always like, let me just show up to work. Let me just, you know, but like whenever I do the thing, I do the thing, right? But I don't necessarily think about like, let me, you know, because then I'm thinking about the wrong thing. And then I want to like do a good job. And so I had no idea that he would be doing all of that as I was performing, laying down the vocals for the album, you know, in that way. And, you know, got to grab me off that album. So I, you know, wait. I mean, you're really in a Tony, yeah, we did an Emmy and an Oscar, we did you got fire. Are you pursuing or like, I know it's like, no, I'm not pursuing, but like, are you pursuing it? Like, do you want the Emmy and Oscar? I think that any actor who serious would say like, yeah, that's a dream. Yeah, that's a big dream. So people come on here and they're just like, no, not really. I'm like, I think if I were blessed with the opportunity to, I just want to work with really good people. I want to work on really great material. I want to do really good work. That's really honestly what I want to do. Be a good actor, strive to just like continue to tell great stories and to sharpen and hone my craft and to show up and have a good time. But yeah, like, who wouldn't? That's like a dream, you know, what do you want to do next, like, perfect world. You got to pick what you want to do. What do you, what are you doing next after? Oh my God. And then we'll get into some games though. I would love to like, do a drama, I don't know, like, you know, I would love to do like, you know, take the Mael Street, the viola Davis, like, the roles that they have just been so fortunate enough to play. And they're all, they're both chameleons and like, they've been able to do everything. And so I like to do different things. I don't want to just like, stay in one lane because, you know, I want to do something else. Like, you know, I get there out of a Shakespearean monologue and it's so great. You know, like, pop in a rock, yeah. Yeah, yeah. That's like the view. That's like, what you want, right? That's, you train and you watch things and you feel it. figure out like I just want to be a really good actor and I want to like just I want to act right and hopefully we get that opportunity so like you know I want to do I don't know what it is everybody always asks me what do you want to do next I don't know like I just wanted to be a good character and like a character that like makes it easy for me to do what I do and sort of get to like the heart of who this the character is and that's I've just had the most incredible opportunity playing Raquel and being in this world I didn't even actually I did know I knew what I was getting into when I read that script and you want the feeling when you open up the script for the first time at the end of the you want to be like I have to do this I have to do this I have to be the one to do this and that was like that was a dream was a dream project it's been a dream yeah you know and doing something completely different than what I'd done before you know and so I hope to continue to do that okay all right so right now spoil spoiler alert if you haven't watched a finale please pause it watch a finale and come back okay we'll give you a couple seconds we're good all right you you met your demise come sure you met your demise when you read it did you know what's gonna happen like how early did you know what's gonna happen I did it I did it I didn't really know yeah you never really know I mean listen you know in this world you never really know right what's gonna happen I just try to like I don't like knowing too much yeah because knowing too much you kind of play the ending before it actually happens and so I just wanted to play just rock being ferocious and every time she got knocked down she get back up every time there was a loss she's figuring out how to do it again and so for me that like perseverance like playing that like especially in the last season it is a lot of like this like lioness who's like not willing to go down without a fight and you love that like as you feel sorry you feel sad for her but there's a part of you that's like she's gonna do she's gonna do it she's gonna do it and that's so devastating too you know with the character and so the way that it ended I it's it's crazy but I think it's the only way that it could end and I always go back to the the first episode where Raquel is warning Canaan when they're on the beach and she's saying that bullet's gonna be out there you know you wanted to be in it you in it it's gonna be circling says your name on it and it's gonna follow you and and that really is yeah sort of or when she talks about you know the first the first thing of like being on the throne and always about to fall off the throne and so I've taken that from the first scene of the first episode of show and that's kind of been like my through line of this character that's like writing this on this throne but every time you know she's just fighting to stay on fighting to stay in the power and I've taken that and I've kind of just like etched out my little character thing throughout the end and so you know it's devastating in the end but one thing about it she wasn't afraid of it yeah you know if it was gonna happen it was gonna happen it she wasn't trying to like outrun it right it's just you wanted to live while she had it and it's devastating the way that it happens you know because it is but no I feel really incredible without how it ends did you have to mourn that character at all yeah I'm still warning yeah I'm still mourning the character and they shot this what year ago you're a half year and a half ago yeah man yeah crazy I'm still mourning it like what do you mean you know the time flew by you know and so when you're in a show and you're having a great time you know how it feels and you're just like you're getting into this character and you just love it and you finally know what it is and so you just enjoy showing up for work and like playing these different sides of the character yeah of course you're gonna she was a big part of me big part of my at that point in my life where I was and you know COVID it just happened like so many different things going on in my life you know I lost my brother during that last episode you know so those were all real feelings you know like losing someone in real life and then having to go and show up on set and like hold it together the way that my character is holding it together I was just so thankful for that and I'm just really thankful that I've been able to sort of like take all of you know my stuff and put it in a character and sort of like help myself in a way and so yeah I mourn I mourn because she saved me in a lot of ways and you know whenever you know you wanted to like go and hide but you can't because you got to show up for the gig but at least you get to like embody this badass character this confident character ferocious character that means so much to a lot of people and in love that I've received playing the character yeah man it's a hard one to put to bed but gosh I'm so happy and it lives on so it's almost like you mourn it twice you mourn it when you film it and that's what that's what's happening now I'm like I saw an episode you know one of the episodes and I was just I almost started crying you know because you want to look at your work you look at what you've done and you want to be proud and I I've just been very proud of this project very proud of this experience it was hard days y'all you know how it is being on set but I can really say I lived in every every moment of being on that show and bringing my heart and my joy and like all of my stuff to it and leaving it out there you know yeah do you have any favorite days that you had favorite scenes that you had favorite episodes do you remember I'll always remember my first day on set it was the the throwback the flashback the 80s where I had to be in sort of like the early Raquel look and I remember you know we had been asked to drive these cars and I had to like pull in and it was one of those like cool and you know when they're I can drive but when you have like a crew and a camera I forget how to drive everybody watching you and you gotta slide into the part you forget I like a lot like when you got to get into like a certain spot you got to hit the mark is like what the it's like it's so it was a lot like the first day and I'm like I'm literally having to do this around all these people on the first day you know it's I remember we were outside and I just remember the newness of what being on a new show felt like it's the best the best feeling the world you know what I mean and like those first days those first few days I will always remember I remember the feeling I remember the smell I remember being outside and like smoking the cigarette and watching the young cane and like beat up the little boy with the sock on the you know it was like cool and I remember like being in that moment early on like this is cool did you know we go five seasons in your heart yeah yeah I did because I just thought the characters were so rich I thought that like you know shout out to the casting team I think they really just assembled a really great group of people to embody these characters and our crew was amazing like to have people behind the scenes that you love and you respect and you admire and to have like people you love working with like yeah I knew it it's like what everybody's here and we all just want to create you know you wake up ready to go because you know you're gonna see the best people like we had the best people on set not just the camera crew everyone that worked on the show like these people became family and it felt that way early on we all felt it during that birth the pilot episode that we had something special and we continue with that yes them days got long yes during the COVID of it all like you know all the COVID tests and everybody wearing goggles and masks and all the shit like you know we all toughed it out through all of that you remember those days this is when they were the first starting to test oh they had to go all the way into your brain oh yeah and then you had to be like close and close proximity you had to do two tests so you have to wrap it and the other one and they just I blocked it all out I know I know I know it was so miserable that I was just like oh you can't sit next to the actors everybody got to spread out like this is it like we've talked about this we would have intimate scenes like Michael would like be making out with whoever I would be making out with whoever and then we would go back to her goal yeah my tone down her throat whatever I have she now had totally totally oh my god I just blew my mind five feet five feet like I was like you just sitting yeah like what do we do when did you when did you guys start can we weren't right we weren't right after you guys yeah we were the first show the first show but he asked there weren't a lot of shows back like it was like five of five shows we were like yeah so it was like you felt the weight of that like wow bro Steiner was empty yeah started it was scary right like so scary and crazy but that's everybody just locked in and did the work I just prayed to God I don't know one time yeah I was once that's it really one time one time one time while we were filming I never got it while I was filming I had it like twice when we were in filming yeah I got OG COVID OG like when they sent everybody home that day you remember that day oh really but it wasn't that bad when he sat down right he sat down when you got sick it was bad oh yeah no I got sick like a week two weeks after but like everybody was like clowning me on set Because when I was you know during the down times I'd be in my trailer listening to the radio and they'd be talking about like Oh, that's probably why you got it cuz you were so like what I Loves I was walking around with like hand sanitizing anyone cough new mail was like Yes, it is a thing, and I remember like going on Amazon. I got like a hazmat suit I see like Naomi Campbell like on a plane in her like in the suit and that me and I got like a one of those Gigantic hazmas suit guy. Oh My dad was always the guy that like was like everyone call for me. I don't care any never got it I'm like wow guys that never get it man. Oh The Rudy go bare Do you have a favorite scene partner that that you would do scenes with that you're like we're just like the chemistry's off Don't do that. I know but but like look Michael was always my favorite scene partner But like I love doing scenes with Woody. Yeah, I love like it's not to say that that but was there someone that you got on set with you like Yeah, you know what a couple I honestly have just been very fortunate I will say like obviously Makai and I have always been able to lock in in a way like just some very beginning He and I locked in You know we feed off of each other Malcolm is a great scene partner Malcolm May's like just that whole bond I think partly because you know we're like brother and sister in real life And so like being able to to do the thing and he's a really fantastic actor to just play opposite one another But then I could also say London Brown like you know what I mean like we always lock in and we have the best time And they support we support each other and you know you can try stuff and you know that like You're gonna get something great like within the work, and so I'm the type of actor where like when it's not on me I still I still give like it's on me. I agree on the same way because there's something to that to me Pissed yeah, and I just don't believe in that. I want them to get the best performance ever But you know you've heard stories where where people are like they leave and like they have their They're standing and I like what that's O.D. I don't understand that because like You know, this is a partnership like we are here. Let's do it like what do I need to what do I mean? Yeah Like what do I need to give you so that you can do what you do right?
