Part 5: Cold Outreach | $100M Leads Book | Ep 590

In this podcast transcript, hosts David and Michael humorously debate who should replace a judge on a baking show, briefly considering themselves before noting Nurgela/Nardia as a likely choice. They then mock a viral yogurt cheesecake trend as a poor imitation of real cheesecake. David confesses to poor preparation for the podcast, having forgotten to watch the episode and obtain necessary questions. He shares that he tried to quit the show due to overwhelming stress and panic attacks but was convinced to stay after connecting with a past contestant for support. The discussion centers on a "Bread Week" episode, covering the signature challenge of layered meringue cakes and a technical challenge involving verrines (layered desserts in glasses). David defends his chocolate-orange creation against critical judges, while both hosts critique other contestants, such as Henry's unintentionally large meringues and Priya's unhurried, unflappable demeanor. They conclude that the technical challenge desserts were exceptionally delicious, unlike typical technical outcomes.

[Music] Hello, I'm David! And I'm Michael, and this is the sticky bun boys. Now Michael, I was wondering whether Bakeup would consider a past winner as the new judge now that Prue has left. Yeah, David, they've already picked Nurgela. If I'm sure the contract hasn't been signed yet. Well, in that case, yes, Nardia would be a great choice. Actually, I was kinda thinking more like, er, me? Oh, you're serious. I'm not sure that you're quite what they're looking for. Why not? White man, no previous experience, and only one not-chup from Amateur. What for Paul Ollewood? Well, come, I can't argue with facts. [Music] So Michael, David, can I just say? You can't just say, it's our podcast. I know you. I know, well, you don't always let me. I know that you're more of a person that's in with things, viral and all this shit. But did you try this? I've got- we're not gonna go and make a little call me viral on this good day. You're into viral, isn't it? I'm trying very hard not to be single. Let's not go about spreading it wrong to everyone that I've gone viral. Well, talk about spreading. Have you had the viral yoghurt cheesecake thing? Well, no, because it's just biscuits in a yoghurt, isn't it? Yeah, that's not a cheesecake. No, it's a simply not a cheesecake and everyone who's saying it is is a liar. It doesn't make any sense. It's a waste of biscuits. It also doesn't even sound nice because biscuits, the whole point of a biscuit is that it's crunchy. And when you make a cheesecake, it doesn't just go completely soft and- Like a rich tea stuck in some yoghurt. No. What's not rich tea is it? It's- it's low-tisp biscuits. It's speculose. What they're putting in. Oh, is it? I just thought- I saw someone do rich teas. [Laughter] It's- The poor man's version. It didn't look very nice. I don't think I believe in it. No. So often these- what annoys me is all these people that jump on it. Instead of saying, "I'm going to try it, this is disgusting." They try it and they say, "Oh yeah, it's amazing. Yeah, I love it. No, you don't." No, not for me. Would you like to talk about how in the episode script that you wrote it says, David, to lead episode review, "Bread Week, Sicknature and Technical." Yeah. Oh, "Bread Week." [Laughter] Probably not "Bread Week." Probably not "Bread Week." And you also forgot to watch the episode. I watched it just a few minutes ago. I finished watching it a few minutes ago. [Laughter] I forgot. The thing is, you know, like you and Alex have been talking about the fact that you've both been up until 6am doing all these things. I literally did fuck all of them someday. And on Saturday, I was like, "All you've got to do, David, is watch the episode." You're meant to be hanging out. We're meant to be- I was meant to sing Henry for his birthday, weren't we? Well, yeah, and I canceled on that. So I'd even more time. And I still didn't do it. And then I realized, "Shit, I've also not actually got the questions from Priya yet for next week's episode." So, yeah, managed to send her a message. No, not great. Which isn't very pleasant for someone who's just got a new baby, but anyway. Well, shall we get into the Bread Week signature and technical? Yes, I will leave that very competently. So the signature was a layered meringue cake, which isn't the thing. It had to be at least three layers, and we had two hours and 45 minutes. What did you think? What you've missed before this is that I tried to quit. [Laughter] You tried to quit? Yeah. After week five, I was like, "Get that five exit door. I'm done. I'm off. I've had it." So you actually tried, you actually wrote to them and said, "I spoke to him." No, I had a conversation with him, and I was like, "I can't do this anymore. I simply can't do this anymore. It's two of a whirlwind." Obviously, last week I had my two panic attacks. Was this a negotiation? I just was like, "I can't do this anymore unless you get me through to the semi-finals." [Laughter] Well, they didn't follow through on that, they did. I was just like, "This is two of a whirlwinds. This is too much." And Michelle, going home at the time, ruined me. I tried to leave, and they were like, "You can't." I was like, "Probably good, though." They were like, "Do you want to speak to the therapist?" And I was like, "I've always done that." [Laughter] I have to say, coming into this week, I do remember feeling. It was the first time, no offense to all the people who had already gone. But this was the first time where it suddenly felt really sad. Before then, it was like, "Oh, people have got to leave each week." Coming in this week, I was like, "Oh, this feels weird." It was really odd. Do you know how they got me to say? Was they put me in touch with Brianny? Oh, do you remember this? Yes, yeah. Like, they were like, "I kept saying you don't know what it's like." And they were like, "We do." And I was like, "No, actually, you don't." They said, "You don't." Because you haven't done this before. And so they were like, "Well, let's get you in touch with Brianny." And they kind of, we saw this messaging back and forth a bit through the series, and she kind of like propped me up. Bless her. Oh, and how much did you do? Yeah. Probably nothing. Well, they're going to do that with you for a bit. Didn't you do the whole thing about like, mentoring? Well, no. Do you know what, actually, Michael? Do you know what? They never paid me for that. That's an un- They see only unpaid invoice that my company has. It's love productions. In fact, I might send a message again and chase them. How disgusting is that? It was only complained to HR again. I should do. That's probably why I didn't first place. Do you know what? This week, so you wanted to quit. I desperately wanted to do this week. Not because I liked dessert. I hate dessert. But for some strange reason, I'd signed up to a skydiving thing. And it was basically at this time. So I luckily was able to get out of it because I am terrified of jumping out of a plane. Why have you signed up? It was one of these things where people, you know, when people kind of like get you at work and I also didn't have to raise any money for it. I was just like, "Okay, let's just do it." I'll say yes. And then I'll deal with all my emotions later. That didn't happen. I mean, that's the opposite for me. I had like all these plans that worked out perfectly. Just after week seven, I was meant to go to Wimbledon. And then during eight week eight's filming, I was meant to be out of wedding. Which I was like one of the groomsmen at. So I was kind of like hoping to be out fairly soon. Because you had, well, yeah, but you had things on every week. You're a social butterfly. I also was like feeling much happier this week. Like I really enjoyed this week's episode. Ooh. Well, I thought you were doing the beginning of the, of the thing there. And I thought, "Ooh, let's actually get into it." So for, well, first of all, Morang, Leard Morang Cake, is that a thing? Is it? Yeah, I think it is. Yeah. It was just to Pavlova with just stacked on top of each other. But it wasn't. Everyone just chose to do that. Actually, yeah, yours. Yeah, everyone but you. So, yeah. Ooh, why would you do? Chocolate Orange Marjolane. This, I'm going to tell you right now, it was sick. This was so good. And the only reason I did it was because they did it the year before. It's like a technical or something. And it was on the recipe brief. So I was just like, "Fuck it, I'll do that." It was a hazelnut prowling layer. A hazelnut requires a dark chocolate quantroganache. And like a really sick, like orange cremobur. It was so, so good. Added sugar work. It was, I mean, the piping left a lot to be desired. I'm going to just come out now and be, I'll be all, I'll be all, I'll be all. It's all right again. I was going to come clean now. I only had three piping nozzles at the time going on bake off. Which is why everything looked like it was from the 70s because that was just the nozzles that I had. I was working with what I got. I still really have three. We don't, because we have loads, don't we? And I don't know how he's all those different ones. I will accept this looked a bit like a breeze block with some sugar work on it. But that's kind of what it does look like. I don't like it when people complain about some way it looks when it actually looks like what it should look like. Right. And not to do a Michelle about it, but like I completely disagreed with their judging. All right. Well, and you're not doing a Michelle because the thing is with Michelle, all of us agreed with their judging. Whereas I agree with you because I tried yours. The only thing I would say about yours was wow, it was rich. But the thing that annoyed me is, meringue doesn't always have to be crisp. Like a rule, for example, a rule, a very soft meringue that actually goes soft as you roll it up. And that's what I found with yours. Your meringue still had chew to it. So you could tell it had like integrity. It was meant to be soft when it's in case like that. That's what I thought. And like it's in case it's going to be like that. That's what a margilline is. And what the fuck? Oh, the chocolate was too dominant. It's a chocolate dessert. Come on. What did you expect to be? And also when they were judging me, Prue said that she could taste the orange and Paul then said he couldn't. And I was like, well, which is it? Which is true? Well, we know. Behind the curtain, though, is that sugar work. Because obviously you make it and then you have to wait for three hours while they clean the tent and do the perfect, perfect shots. You can make two batches of sugar works. I made my sugar work. I had on my little prue called them little sticks or any of these hazelnut spikes. But you, I made all of them and I had to make them again. And I think I ended up having three sets so they could have them for all the beauty shots. And then for judging as well. And they were sick. I was so pleased with that. There was one moment as well where they made out like I was tempering chocolate. But that wasn't for this bit. That was for the technical. Oh, it's going to take because you weren't tempering chocolate at all for that. No, it's straight to tempering. Right. But in the technical, we all tempered chocolate. But they cut out the fat grad to tempered chocolate. We'll get to that. And they moved the clip into the signature. And also, Henry got all the praise for wearing a little spiderweb badge and a Welsh flag. I was also wearing them. I know, but I think it just didn't. It looked more incongruous. Converter sweet. Yeah, and it just looked strange with Henry because he was wearing the worst shirt in the world and a horrible tie as well. He looked like a newsreader from the 1970s. It was awful. Before we get to what you did. Shall we talk about Henry? Because Henry had never really made meringue before. Yeah, which is quite strange. Like you wouldn't expect Alex to try and go on bake off, would you? Well, no, he basically is the same person. His his his and meringues were going massive in the oven and he was panicking about it. I remember. And he kind of prue was doing a walkabout and he kind of looked to her for reassurance and she was like, no, you're doing fine. But why did his grow that much? Did he put baking powder in his meringue or something? I honestly don't know, but they're really puffed. Yeah, really, really puffed. And the edit yet again is on Henry's side because they renamed it something like Henry's massive meringue tower or something. To trying like, empathize how great he was of doing it big, which wasn't as intentionally. He didn't know what he was doing. - And it wasn't really on his side because it was very messy and they definitely pointed that out quite a lot. It was quite a strange thing where Paul asked Henry if he'd made his jam. As if anyone's ever been allowed to bring a jar of jam into the tent. - Yeah, I wondered about that. - I mean, just-- - What did you think he did that? - Which is just that Paul has no idea what's going on and probably just doesn't realize that we all make it every time. - Or maybe he was just getting his producer hat on and trying to get a really, like, a reaction out of Henry. - Yeah, it was a nice morang, but I didn't like Henry's very much, I have to say. - No, it wasn't really for me either, but neither was yours. Let's get that sting played. - Ooh, why would you do? - You do. - Mom is very simple. I just literally-- - The emphasis is on why in when we come to this one. Like why? - Because I copied off an otolengu recipe. That was it. I didn't have a reason. Like, I, I, basically, as soon as I saw this brief, I wasn't as clever as you. I didn't think of morangakes. I just kind of thought, oh, it's Pavlova. So it's just morang, something soft, and then, like, fresh fruit or whatever. And the recipe that I did was literally an otolengu recipe. I copied it basically word for word, gram for gram. So that was the end of the reason. - You don't deserve this plate at all. (laughing) As if no one else did that on multiple recipes. - I didn't like this one. - Yeah, I think it's one of those ones because the thing is, like otolengu is known for pushing spices in, like, bold flavors and things. And I love strong spices. So I still, I still like it. And the thing is, the spices really, it wasn't that big a deal. It was like the morangas were nice and the other bits were nice. I have to say, I think what I got from this was that actually the judges were kind of like overly picky on everyone's because when I was, when we were going through them, I was like, I remember trying that. That was nice. And people's textures weren't that off. I think they wanted to maybe, I don't know, I do think they wanted to pick on everyone because I don't think anyone's was that bad. Or were they hedging their bets a little bit to be able to like help with the edit? - Yeah, maybe, I don't know. - I thought, I liked yours like individually, like the Clothes, Cinnamon and Star and Eastern, you know, I liked the individual morangs, but all as one, I was a bit overwhelmed. And also the thick thing was a bit weird. - Oh, I love thick stuff. I think the main thing was that the clothes in particular were quite strong, but yeah. - You were doing some particular poses this week as well. There was like one of you like lying across your bench, if you're being painted like one of the French girls on the Titanic. - Well, I think there was a lot of downtime on this one. - There's quite a lot of shots where I'm just not at my bench. I'm just like standing and all of us had clean benches, not just me this, you didn't have a clean apron. - Oh my God. - Oh yeah, I do remember, I was covered. (laughing) - You were chocolatey. - I mean, hell weak for Rosie this was because everybody was doing a nutty sort of morang apart from Alice. - Yeah. - And she was in front of me and I was like, and they almost installed a curtain behind. They were like, do not touch anything on her bench. But she was doing a salted caramel morang with lime curd, raspberries and topped with chocolate ganache. I didn't taste this, but I can't quite picture the lime curd with the salted caramel morang. - That's my thing. 'Cause actually what they talked about in this, 'cause Paul did the question of, you're using fruit with chocolate. Yes, Paul, famously fruit goes very well with chocolate. I didn't think that was it. And then Rosie at the end said like, basically called him out on that. I didn't think that was the issue. The issue is lime and salted caramel. - Yeah, that's peculiar to me. I'm not saying it wouldn't work 'cause they didn't really comment on it. So it could have done, I can't remember. But I don't think there was very much salted caramel in her morang. So I think it probably just more tasted like the morang had kind of like, crusted at the end. - Or sweeted or something. - Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it looks beautiful though, I thought. I thought, yeah, I quite liked it. Who else did I like? I like. - We've got to save some for only flams. - Well, let's talk about what I didn't know. I'm kidding. We should talk about Priya. - Yeah. - Did you write that much she did? - She did an Amaretto one, even though she's just drink alcohol and she did an almond daquaz and it was blueberry. And lemon was it? - Yeah, something like that and a musseline. - Her morang was very flat. - It was very flat and I do agree with Priya on this one. Like if you do have to look at something and like the look of it as well and the color of the blueberries 'cause blueberry isn't like a bright purple. It's not like a pinky purple, it goes very, very brownie purple. - I didn't dislike the color. - Oh, so I didn't love the color. But I do remember as well in this one, I was just behind Priya and I found her infuriating just because I would literally went and helped her. Again, I was like, this one, Priya, we've got so much time for this. We've got two hours, four to five minutes and I just kept on having to go and help her. Like how was she so slow at doing things and she got this show? I think it's because she's got kids that she's that slow because you can't really do anything quickly. So it kind of just happens when it happens, you know? But the thing I love about it is it just doesn't stress her out. She just wandered around. She was like, I would be getting stressed like, Priya, do that, do this. - But she still had a day when we were watching, I think it was episode four or something being like the way you handle the last is, is so lovely to look at. - Yeah. - I'm so lovely to see. She just won't be flapped. - No, she's not. - And they can't be in, they can't be in like, oh well, she should have sped up and we hate this narrative from you and she was like, yeah. - Well, well. She just seems, she's the kind of person you'd want on your negotiating team 'cause she's not flappable and she won't rise to things. She's, yeah, she's brilliant. Anyway, the technical. So they made out that we'd all done quite badly in the signature and reality, they weren't perfect when they were all quite good. - I think probably Priya and I were at the bottom ish. Not like, just not like I agree, but from their judging, I'd say. - From their judging, but I definitely don't agree with yours. Henry should get the bottom. Technical was six varines, which is a layered dessert. Actually, I found out after I didn't know that. I just looked this up now. The green is actually just the name of the glass. So it just means things put in a glass. And it was a little bit. - Did you write down all of the elements? - Oh, of course. Have I written down one element? So let's see if I can even try and remember it. - Try and get them. - So there was one, two, three, four, five, - I've written them all down. - So there was a mango compote at the bottom. Number one. Coconut. I was gonna say panatone. It's not a panatone. - No, it's close. - Whatever that's called. Panacotta. - Panacotta. Then there was a raspberry jelly. - Yep. - Then there was a streusel. - Not leaves. - Not leaves. - Amand. - No. - Coconut and lime. - Coconut and lime. And then there was little cubes of mango there as well. Then there was a sourdough biscuit. - Yep. - A raspberry and some tempered chocolate with some gold on it. - Look at you go. Well done. - Do you know what as well? These were genuinely delicious. - These were so delicious. - Oh my god. This is the only technical I ate. - I think I ate multiples of these. - They were so good. - I remember we all went back in and we just hoovered them. Like normally, they're no bit surprised because normally we all just walked out the technical and we were like, I'm never looking at that again. Everybody loved these. They were delicious. - They were fresh. They were like their panacotta. The coconut panacotta was so smooth. Also, we all did a really good job of it. Like their judging was like, oh, your lines are a bit wonky and things. Everyone's also the mangoes were really ripened perfect. I didn't love these. - It was two and a half hours. And actually, because of all of the waiting time for it all to set and stuff like that, the only thing we focused on was the tempered chocolate because we were having to temper chocolate but we didn't have the temperatures. - Yes. - We couldn't quite remember the temperatures for them and actually it didn't really matter 'cause if you just froze it, it would snap anyway. But it really annoyed me in the edit because we all spent ages tempering and my tempering was really good and some of them weren't and it was just taken out the edit. I mean, I got really low marking in this and the reason was that my mangoes were slightly too large in their cubes. - Well, that's the thing. And then someone else like pre-appered in slightly too much truss or like it, they were, the reality was, they were all basically exactly the same. To be fair, pre-appredeously with the bottom just because her panicotter didn't set. Whereas everyone else is. - There was the risk of plopping and pre-assured did plop, didn't she? - She popped right in there. (laughing) I mean, they judged us on dirty glasses. That's how close it was. - I know. I loved it the start as well where Noel basically called Paul out saying, Paul, this is obviously pre-use choice. If it was your choice, we'd have chosen Angel Delight. - True. - I love that. I love Angel Delight, man. - He is so common and basic. I mean, it is delicious. - I also really enjoyed the really slow walk to the Gingham alter. All of us like trying really hard not to move. - Yes, apart from fact, did you notice that I had already put mine down and you all knew guys were just being really slow? I won't be in school. - But we were walking far away. You were quite close weren't you? You were near the front. - I was at the back, Michael. - That's how, that's how. - Wait, did you exist? - Did you read the recipe out again, David? - I think I was second from the front. - I can't remember. They all looked great. There's not much to say about this challenge. Apart from the fact it was a good challenge, like there were elements that could have gone wrong. - That's it. There's elements that could have gone wrong. There was lots of elements. And what was good on this one, which you don't, because sometimes there is quite a lot of standing around, whereas actually there was always something to do. You were always doing the next thing with this one, because something had been chilled and you'd have to bring it back out and add the next thing. And yeah, and I think it does show on this, because Peru couldn't help herself, just like wanting to eat more and more and more. They were good. - Just nibbling away, wasn't she? Do you actually write down the-- - Yes. - The seventh was Priya. Sixth was Michael. Fifth was Rosie. Fourth was Henry. Third was Steph. Second again, for the fourth time was David. And first was Alice. - I reckon this didn't really count. - I'd bite no. It's not worth really addressing. - No, it's like when they have the technicals where everyone does really badly, and then sometimes afterwards, when someone's done really well in that technical and everyone's arguing, they came first and said, "Yeah, but if everyone did really badly in the technical, it doesn't really count that you came first." And I kind of think with this one as well, if you've all done pretty much equally, it doesn't really matter if someone's come seventh. Spirits were so high this week though. I mean, I can't really remember who was top and bottom. The technical didn't matter. Probably Priya and me around the bottom and then maybe Alice. And no, maybe Henry Henry and Steph up top. No, Henry's at the bottom. Oh, no, he had messy meringue, yes, yes. Yeah, yeah, it was. Yeah, Alice, they said Alice is at the top. And then it was head, they said, in fact, I think they said Henry Rosie Michael Ampere. I think they put all of you in the bottom. Oh, well, I was just safe. So next week we are going to find out because it's on to the show stop, which is the big one for dessert week. We're going to find out what we're going to find out who won and who did well. Oh, you just say who's at the top of the box. We're going to find out who's the top and who's the bottom. Oh, right. Well, I think we all knew Henry's the top. I wanted to quickly come on here to let you know that we have lots of naked photos of all the bakers that will be sharing our only flammies. David, you can't say that. Our only flammies are already filled with loads of wholesome fun and engaging content that our listeners have been fools not to want already. Oh, is that why it costs you a few pennies each month? That's right, David. And it's easy to find. You simply go to patreon.com/stickybunboys and get access to the full back catalog too. Wait, what should I do with all these photos? Burn them. I'm going to do a poster of the week. Okay, so my disaster is another gym disaster. You need to change Jim maybe. I like it. I knew. After today, I really do need to change Jim because I went to my favorite class. And already this was the class. It's Wayne. Wayne, who's brilliant. And he, it's the best gym class there. And this is the one where he called me out for doing the courtesy. Oh, well, I thought I was woman that did that. No. And so I, it was already like I've kind of built my reputation record because I stand at the front because I can't see. I want to see my form, et cetera. So I was on the front again. And he started doing this thing. He does it in a spin class, but he's never done it in this class before. You know when you finished, you probably did this. You finished the class. You're all naked. And it's cool down. And he takes cool down a bit too far because he thinks he's cool. And so there's actually, instead of just doing a couple of exercise, he kind of does this like little dance thing that's to a certain beat. But it's kind of just like, it's just a side step. But then you kind of do like you'll do certain things. And he this time he started pointing to people to what's the next move going to be. Oh, my God. You have seconds to think seconds. So people and the thing is the worst thing is this class is full of very cool black women who dance all the time in the class. Even when it's just normal moves and they all look really cool. I don't think I've ever seen you dance. Oh my goodness. So he pointed to me, he said your neck. So like he would say to one that it's coming up. And you had like 30 seconds to I could have picked anything. And I basically did the Charleston. I pick your part of it. You know that the straightly come dancing. Can I like this? Yeah. But like which bit of the chart. We're like, when did you like to look like the fleckle is it with your feet? Yes, with the feet. I decide how it works. And it was the worst it was is that two of the women behind me and I saw them basically laughed as if kind of like what the hell is he doing? This is a white boy doing the Charleston. Well, other people joined in. So it wasn't just me. Oh, God. It was joining. No, no. Well, Wayne was at the front. It was humiliating. And I wish I could never go back to the class, but it is my favorite class. And I think now what I've done is I think I've gone to the point now where people just see me as the joke. So it's okay. Oh, but are you in on it? Are they laughing with or are well, no, but at least it's kind of like I don't know. I don't know. No one really talks to me to that class. So I don't know. Well, my disaster disaster of the week is that I've had a workman in for the week again again. So the bathroom. The bathroom was being done. Well, you may remember if you cast your mind back when the radiator disaster happened. The original part of that was that he was to look at the bathtub. Oh, yes. You're always a very good place. Well, I wish. Fatially the so I had to get the bathroom replaced and all the towels around it and a new shower installed. And it's all been fairly fine. Apart from a minor breakdown. Half a year. I couldn't work out what grout to get. Oh, I thought this was going to be you said disaster the week. I thought you're going to finally say it was like a pawn. A pawn film. Oh, no, no, no. I'm not. Unless it's a porn film based on surgery and because the plumber never fucking came. What? Days and so this was actually a three day job. The first day he came for half a day. The second day he did not come. The third day the Tyler came. The fourth day he did not come. The fifth day he did not come. This does sound like a porn film. This is like a search leon porn film. This is like my life. And then on Saturday he came for like between the hours of three and eight. But isn't he the main person to come? Well, I guess the Tyler does need to be that the Tyler came to. Did he come for both of them? No, the Tyler came on his own. And they've only got one permit. But what the plumber has managed to do in the time that he was here is drill through the bathroom wall into my bedroom wall and forget to fill it. He's been he's mostly been really good. I'm like, do you know what? It's looking lovely. It's not fully finished yet because I now need to paint the walls then kind of cork the edges. You love a bit of cork. You get my little flickering. I could see he was even imagining himself doing his little finger and caulking. Well, I've ended up filling in some of the bits of wall that got pulled off and like, yeah, but I've chosen a lovely pink for the room. It's going to be lovely. It's going to be very nice. But I now need to do that. So I don't feel like the stress is over. However, the disaster is that I think I've spoken on here that I'm trying to make more gay friends. I've done that. Yes, I think so. Yeah. I'm going to be spoken to you about it. Anyway, try to make more gay friends aren't lesbians. No fence to the lesbians, but all of my friends are lesbians. And I need to find some of the time. So I wanted to go to this night out in East London called bash and I went to it was really good fun. And I went with like a friend of a friend. So I've kind of made some new friends there, which is great. We're all going out to a techno night Friday. Wonderful. It's having a great time, but I had to leave early and I had to leave early because the plumber had decided he was coming on Saturday, despite that not being a normal day of the week and despite that being three days after he was meant to finish. Did he actually come? Well, So I left the club night because he was arriving at 10s. I was like, I need to be up at 930s, so I can just kind of get myself ready. I left the club at 5, got home with about six ish and went straight to bed. He woke up at 930 for him to arrive. He arrived at 2pm. So not only could I have stayed at the night out longer, but I've woken up early. Yeah. I could have slept longer for this man to arrive. Once it's all finished, you do have to give an honest review for this. I just don't understand why works people are unable to just do one job completed and until the next one he was doing like three at once. Oh, yes, that's what I'll be. So he was juggling. Right. And it's annoying because like for that full week, I had no shower. I expected to have no shower for three days, but I didn't have a shower until Sunday. So I was having to like, I went to the gym six out of seven days. On the seventh day, I hatched a rest. So I had to go to my friends house to go and have a shower. Like it's ridiculous. And so he wasn't coming to you, but he was coming. He was calling everyone else. Yeah. That was the problem. Now it may be a long time, but I do have a love of my life this week. Oh, I'm very excited about this. It's not just with breeze is it. No, although I have had my it's now seven thirty. So I will have had my matches through. I was on my way back from my friends having showered at her house. And I went to this, this coffee shop that's like a thing called Perky Blenders, which is a good little point of the blinders just by what and so station. And giving away where I live. And I went past and they went to get coffee and the tall man behind them. Now this tall man. They're always tall. This tall blonde, malted man, which is unusual to me. Like he was in like full mallet. He was just kind of quite flirty. And I could be like he was asking like what kind of latte art I wanted. I wanted to see horse or a swan. And I was like, oh, I think I want to swan. I see a sea horse. And he was like, you can tell a lot by that. And I said, what do you mean? And he said they carry their children. And I was like, well, what does that mean? And he was like, it means you're a very caring soul. And I said, thank you sir. Very confused, very confusing, but it was lovely. And maybe I'm going to go back there a couple more times and just see what more compliments you can give me. Yeah, I think the thing is you have to, well, can you do that? You need to do something that takes it to the next level or signals the next level. I was already suggested I carry his children. So I'm not sure what is the next level from there. Well, you should see you should you should decide what kind of latte art you want. Oh, so go ahead and be like, I want. I don't know why the word dick came into my head. I don't care if I get a dick. I want to dick. Now the thing is you can't because you will revert to my job now. I would like you to make me a I can't think of anything a slug a ribbon. Don't ever go and see this guy again Michael. Please do something that seems quite masculine shouldn't couldn't I? Like a radio to key. No, I don't think this love is going to go anywhere. Straysy enough. Okay, well, let's get into the inbox then. You got me first up is Jackie. Jackie. Jackie. Hello boys. Please insert all the compliments about how amazing and wonderful you are. Cheers applause fireworks. Thank you. This rewatch for series 10 has solved a long time mystery in our house. And I have to tell you all about it. Last week I set up my tablet in the kitchen. So I could multitask watching the dairy episode and get some baking done. My husband loved by the way that they're actually watching along with us. My husband, Bragg came to sit at the counter watch and the doom scroll. I was only half paying attention to the start of the episode when suddenly my husband. sprang up shouting, "Hey, hey, turn it back. Turn it back to the dude that's happy about Dairy. Why did my husband have a Pavlovian response to David's?" "Am I a dude from you, isn't it? Am I a dude?" "You are a dude." And a seminal quote, which was, "I like Dairy." "Dairy's good." "The only thing I said in the whole show." "Can we put some reverb on that, Alex, and can you just say it one more time with a profound meaning behind the words?" "I like Dairy. Dairy's good." "We're going to use that instead of the "well-dare" that is the new, the new "well-obviously." Back to Jackie, "Well, for the last many years, every time I've taken Dairy out of the fridge, I whisper under my breath, Dairy's good." It's been a neurotic OCD thing that I've done for so long that I could not, for the life of me, remember how it started? "I'm an infant." "I'm an infant." "In my family, they always ask me to get the milk out for my nieces and nephews, or grab the butter for Sunday's roast, and wait for me to whisper, "Dairy's good." Then we can all have a laugh. Maybe, now that I've closed the loop and know where my new roast has started, I can finally lay into bed and move on with my life. Probably not, though. Dairy is good. "It is good." "But, you're from your favorite Californian mermaid, Jackie." "Look at you changing lives." "I know changing, well, not for the bit, not for the good, but still." "Well, Dairy is good." "Yeah, but it did stress her out a little bit. How weird is that? They shouldn't even know where it had come from as well that she just kept on saying it?" "After Bake Off, I got so many messages saying things like, "God, your breakdown in episode 5, but the way you kept going was inspirational." They said, "The way you said, I could do anything with five minutes." I was like, "Yes, what? You're passing on that Dairy is good." "Dairy is good." "I don't even love Dairy that much." "Dairy is good." "So two things have happened to me in the last week, which made me need to bring back my favorite staying of all." "Oh, oh, oh, oh, is he having peace?" "Now, these were both both done by two men in consecutively on a walk through bank in London. They must be something wrong with that." "Wait, men, you know, are they just strangers?" "No, just strangers." "The first is men over the age of 30 using a scooter." "Oh, I don't know, they were wearing a suit." "They were wearing normal clothes, but it wasn't one of the electric ones I can kind of forgive." "It was the way he had to push himself along with one foot that gave me such an Ick. It was awful." "Really bad." "Yeah." "And the second one was when I got into the bar that I was going to, where I was witnessed a man miming playing along a guitar to a song." "Oh, my goodness. That's not Ick. That's going to whatever level it is where it's like death to you." "It's so embarrassing." "So embarrassing." "And I think for me, it's mainly the fingers doing the keys." "You don't know." "But also, the bit I hate is that if they were looking at you while doing it, it would be like, oh, it's a joke, but they're actually looking at those fingers as well." "Is it really playing it?" "It makes me tear up my eyes. It's absolutely appalling." "That's horrible." "I don't think they are." "I don't think they are." Right, that's the end of another episode. What's your plan to the rest of the evening, David? "Well, I'm going to get our spare dovey and sew it into a cape. Then if I get bitten by a radioactive insect and get superpowers, I'll still be warm when I'm flying around because Lycra isn't very insulating. How about you?" "Well, being a regular human being, I'm going to sit on the sofa and read the book." "Alex, thank you for asking. I'm going to sit and consider all the funny stories from my life. I'm right I'm in to [email protected] or @stickybumbos on Instagram or I'll also like a few of your reels." "Oh, lovely Alex." "Oh, and I was also thinking of baking an entire sachet of hot honey sauce into a pizza, which totally didn't happen today." "Oh, that sounds like a disaster, which we should let they hear about when you have better internet because you sound like a robot. I'm going to find some normal friends to talk to. We'll see you next time, and please remember to. KEEEEP! PUMPS TICKY! Ready for the boring bit? Let's go.

FAQs

Nurgela has been chosen as the new judge, though the contract may not be signed yet.

It's a controversial dessert made with biscuits and yoghurt, criticized for not being a real cheesecake and having a poor texture.

The signature challenge was a layered meringue cake requiring at least three layers, with a time limit of 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Yes, one contestant attempted to quit after week five due to stress but was persuaded to stay with support from a former contestant.

The technical challenge was to make six verrines, which are layered desserts including elements like mango compote, coconut panna cotta, raspberry jelly, and tempered chocolate.

The judges were overly critical of most signature bakes, even though many were considered good by the contestants, possibly to influence the editing or create drama.
