Our Show's Effort Jumps Off The Tape | Local Hour

Mavily New York introduces a new setting mist with innovative gel-to-mist technology that provides up to 24 hours of hydration and hold without stickiness or residue, offering a plump, natural feel. The segment transitions into a humorous sports commentary, where the host mocks the expansion of Greg Cody’s catchphrase countdown to 75 entries, jokingly labeling the new "OLI" entries as outside the official rankings. The discussion then shifts to the Miami Dolphins, with the host predicting a massive point spread against the Kansas City Chiefs due to the team’s youth, lack of offensive threats, and defensive weaknesses. He contrasts this with the Dolphins’ inconsistent performance, emphasizing their lack of game-breakers and poor red-zone results. The analysis includes a satirical take on the Dolphins’ rookie-heavy roster and their inability to generate offense, while also referencing the team’s poor record and underwhelming performance. A lighthearted dig at the Miami Heat’s new star Yannis Antetokounmpo is included, noting his positive player behavior and generosity, though the broader NBA remains skeptical of his impact. The segment ends with a comedic reflection on the host’s personal habits, including hangover eggs and a costume as "He-Man," before concluding with the promotional message for Mavily’s new product. The tone blends humor, sports analysis, and personal anecdotes, maintaining a playful and self-aware style throughout.

I bounced in here today, bounced in here with a giant smile on my face, because finally, after months of a well-setup joke that I underestimated, we are going to get today the number one catchphrase on the Greg Cody catchphrase countdown. No, we're not. What do you mean we're not? We, uh, number one will be revealed next week. Last week was number two, this week has to be number one. Yeah, but there's a little thing sneaking in between, numbers two and numbers one. This is what everyone has been asking for, and we are delivering. We have the OLIs. The catchphrase countdown has officially expanded from 70 to 75, and today we have numbers 71 through 75. How about that? It's like an appetite. I feel like I needed some fanfare. Yeah. It doesn't deserve fanfare. I came in here expecting number one. I'm as numerically far from it as I could be with while staying within the list. You expected one. He gave you five. Damn right. Yeah, but he's giving me the five worst. He's giving me the ones that didn't even make the worst. Five worst, five worst. I don't like it. They're OLI. They don't rank. They're not really OLI. They're actually 71 to 75. Yeah. So not OLI. They literally rank. But you said they're OLI. You just said they're outside looking in. Did you or did you not just use that acronym? Yes, but they are also numerically numbers 71. But it's a top 70 list. No, it's now a top 75 OLI of the top 70. But we've now shifted to a top 75. Yes, correct. And that's the final number. There is no more discussion. It will be 75. I don't believe you. I don't believe you. I don't believe that this is, yeah, it surely will be probably. We are right now. We're doing some talistinic getting ready for the main show, which has a lot to talk about. I'm going to say that Zaz is, he looks like the least intimidating, mythical creature I have ever seen. He is supposed to be giving off muscles. Instead, he's giving off to pay. We'll get to that in a second. But because I view this part as just sort of doing show, calisthenics, Roy, what sounds of Greg Cody's or Greg Cody related do you have today that are in your holster to use at some point today? Oh boy. That's a good one. I've enjoyed that one. What else do you have? Me? Oh, yeah. That's Greg Cody doing a show with us. Being asked a question on air, me, and asking, are you asking me that question as the co-host? Me? I was talking directly to him and only him. Me? Not, not since. Not since. Do I know? Edger and James was asked to use a illustrator around here. Have we gotten somebody less equipped to do what we're doing as a show than Greg Cody? Me? Other Greg Cody sounds. What are you saying? That's not yours. That's one of his classics. What do you say? What do you say? It's not one of his classics. It didn't even make my top 75. What are you saying? What else Greg Cody related do you have? Validated. I can't remember the context that I said, validated. Validated. That sounds good though. That's a sexy voice when I go low like that. Validated. Validated. Thank you. What are you thinking? Your own voice for being sexy when it sounds like you're saying. Validated. Lately, my voice has gone down a couple of octaves. Everybody thinks I'm sick or something. What's wrong with your voice? That's my new voice. Validated. Yeah. This is my new voice. The Atlanta Falcons have not run a single offensive play in the red zone. You think the dolphins are the worst team in the league? I present to you the Atlanta Falcons while asking you guys, the dolphins are going to have a spread this year where they're plus 20 something on the spread, correct? You guys believe that at some point this season, given what you just saw from the 49ers, and the 49ers were a 13 and a half point favorite and doubled that up. Made it look easy because the dolphins are a field goal team. They're going to have trouble on offense all year long, I believe. They do not have nearly enough playmakers and the injuries haven't set in yet either. And I don't think they're going to bother a quarterback all year as well because they're past Russian and their secondary so bad. The biggest line right now, the dolphins are 11 and a half point dogs when they're at Buffalo. It's not going to move up nine points. It won't get to 20. 20 is unheard of in the NFL. Like it might get to 16 and a half, 17. I could see that, but 20, I would bet big against. It just does not happen in Kingsport. I'll bet the year that the Patriots went undefeated in the regular season and they were setting all the records. I'll bet they were close to a 20 point favorite against the dolphin. The chiefs are coming in here in a couple of weeks and if this week's game, the chiefs are coming in here this week, okay? And if they have a couple of games that look like the San Francisco game that feel that lopsided, where in that sport where you're expecting, you're just expecting the games to be close because all the games tend to be close. The Atlanta Falcons and the dolphins are the only teams this year that they seem to not belong so far through two games on an NFL field where you're watching and like everything so lopsided that you're like, that's not even close. What's happening there is they are no threat at any point to the other team. The dolphins haven't had a lead this year. The Falcons can say they've had a lead even though they haven't had an offensive play in the red zone this season. The biggest point spread ever was 2013, the Peyton Manning lead Broncos at home, 5-0 against the 0-5 Jags. But depending on the books, it was between 26 and a half and 28 point spread. No, that has to be a mistake. I don't believe that. That's a college point spread. That's not a name. And they won 35-19 failing to cover. You guys think it's impossible because I do not. We're on the pole at Lebitard show, Will the Miami dolphins have a 20 point point spread at some point this season because I believe that game at Buffalo, if you're watching, what Josh Allen is doing again where he just scores touchdowns in every game at a pace we have never seen from a quarterback. He's what is he now at 85 rushing touchdowns or something absurd like that? I mean, he was at 82 or 83. I don't know how many. He has 83. It's just lunacy. It's total, it is crazy to think that a quarterback has that many rushing touchdowns. And even as Drake May is a statistical stinker so far this season, the top of that division has Josh Allen. And I do believe that if you're playing in Buffalo and if Miami, what, what hope does Miami give you? Let's listen to Jeff Haftley here, the coach of the dolphins. And these guys are going to exist if it keeps looking like this, just to provide these sounds that we can laugh at. Listen to Jeff Haftley here after just getting dragged by the 49ers. One, when you turn on the tape, there's an element of toughness and how hard we're playing that jumps off the tape. And I hope everybody sees that. And every person I've talked to in this business, whether it's a coach, whether it's a scout, whether it's somebody from an opposing team, a coach from another team, it jumps off the tape. And that's really important to me. We have to establish that and that we have to build off of that. And when you turn on the last couple of plays of the game on both sides of the ball, they're playing just as hard as they did on the first and those are things that we can control. I'm going to be honest, I do believe people around the league are telling him that. I do. Like you think after two weeks in his first ever head coach and job, these are likely friends around the league. Do you think guys are just like, hey, your team is shit, then I haven't tried for you anymore? I bet, I bet guys are telling them. Don't you have to know that they're just, that's just your friends being nice. I feel like you don't say that. After that bad loss against the night, you don't want to, hey, everyone's telling me it's jumping off the tape. What does that even mean? Can't it jump off the tape in the bad direction? What does that mean? The bad direction. Yeah. Maybe it's falling off the tape. Not jumping. I will bet you're jumping to it's death off the tape. That's right. Just like being pittied. Jumping Charlie. Being pittied by everyone in the league and just jumping off of a cliff to avoid all the other 15 games in the season. Okay. I'm going to do this, Levittard. I'm going to bet you $100 on your 20 point spread thing and I'll give you two to one odds. Okay. I'll take that bet and I'm just waiting for this Kansas City game because there is the risk and what is the point spread in this Kansas City? 11 and a half last night. There is the risk that because of what it is that I've been saying about the dolphins, they will not bother a quarterback all season. There is the risk that the worst quarterback is coming into town to shred your defense with a running game because you've got no pass rush. You will not bother him and whether it's Buffalo or Kansas City. You have the chance San Francisco KC back to back of embarrassing Miami in a way that everyone in the league is going to be talking about them the same way they're talking about Atlanta. Atlanta, the Falcons team passer rating is 38.2. If every play they just drop back and spike the ball, it'd be 39.6. So the Falcons right now are saving the dolphins, but if there's another game because you're playing San Francisco in Kansas City, elite organizations back to back and you've got some real problems on defense that can be exploited by any quarterback in the league. This is not the one you want to be playing this week with a running game. Not only that, they also played Joe Burrow, they also played Jared Goff, they also played maybe Caleb Williams down the stretch. That's the game that I look at in the schedule and I'm like, man, could there be a 20 point favorite? It could be Caleb Williams coming back, bears, dolphins traveling up to Chicago like that could be the line. No, because look, you're going to call me a homer, I can already see it coming. But when you have the youngest team in the league, which the dolphins are baked into being the youngest team in the league are things like crazy inconsistency and ups and downs. They're going to look great for one play or for one series or for one half as they did against San Francisco. They dominated the first half in terms of time and possession. One dominated and we're down to eight. It jumped off the film, Dan. It did. It jumped to its death off the film. No, it didn't jump to its death. That was a pretty good half. Yeah, and we're merely down eight and if that had happened in the second half, they still wouldn't have covered. Has a team ever doubled up time and possession and they didn't have any touchdowns and they were down double figures and half no, but you know, that's a trademark of the youngest team in the league. What you're going to get out of the dolphins, is that mean what you're going to get? What is that? How is that the trademark of the youngest team in the league? What are they trademarking there? The youngest team in the league is going to start off crazy with all kind of penalties and inconsistency and wild fluctuations, but they're going to get better each week, okay? The dolphins and I don't know if they were worse this week. Yes. They didn't get better from week one to week two. I disagree with that. I think they did get better, but they played a hell of a lot better team too. There couldn't have been two polar extremes between Miami and San Francisco, which is the oldest team in the league and pedigree in experience, which the dolphins are the opposite of that. The dolphins played better in week two. I don't care if I'm the only one who saw that. I say it. You are. I say it. I think that's the consensus. Halfway felt that way, and I agree with them. They're going to get better. Now, they play a brutal schedule, so getting better isn't going to translate to a lot of wins, but the dolphins will get better and better. That's why that 20 point spread bet is just hugely in my favor. All right. I'll take that bet, and we're going to do that. U.N.'s ads seem to disagree with me. I'm making it a little early because this can's a city game. If it happens again, and you see, they're not going to bother the quarterbacks, and nobody gets to play just standing back there waiting for his receivers to get open against the bad secondary. Like it's, it runs the risk of being embarrassing in a way that is well beyond hopeless, right? Because I've already told you all over South Florida, the sports bars that have dolphin games. Everyone's given up on the season already. This team has nobody behind them. They're going to play a home opener here, and they're going to be people there in the heat, but I'm going to feel bad for those people, because the Kansas City Chiefs are very unlikely to do anything other than just throttle Miami, even if they don't try very hard. Yeah, but you're acting like this is just a lousy football team. It isn't what it is. It's a football team that is doing the biggest, complete reboot than it's done since the expansion era, thus making them lousy. Yeah, but they're lousy for a reason. They're not lousy because they have lousy players. They're lousy because in game one at Las Vegas, they started more rookies who played more rookie minutes than any team in the league since 2006 because they're lousy. They're young and lousy. Okay. Fine. Of course they are. Everybody expected that. You're acting like we didn't expect this. I want to know how many how many games did you say they were going before the season started? I don't remember. How many did you say? I think I said that they have the potential to win four or five. I think I said the total, the betting total is four and a half on the over under there. The only positive to me so far is that the rookies overall looked decent. They got to play somebody. No, but I'm not that serious. Jacob Rodriguez looked really good week one. He's been really Caleb ducked. I'm just trying to fight like my dad's trying to do the positive thing like they're terrible. But the rookies look. These Kaden Proctor is one of the top rookie offense alignment in terms of PFF. The running game was much better against San Francisco because they gave a H and the ball which they didn't in the opener down lebertar can't trade marino. Nice hat. Nice hat. Nice hat. It's what he's most known for. It's like I'm hoping on to it. Great Cody. Nice. I didn't hide in two. But it's marino. Nice hat. Then the next time we saw Marino after a great Cody trade him, he threw for five touchdowns. Nice hat. And he went in the man on the cover. It's for Joe Strait. You can't trade marino. Nice hat, asshole. This is the lebertar show. I'll be perfectly honest and I'm like I'm guilty of being wrong here. Even though it's just through two games, I'm really surprised at how bad the Dolphins offense has been. I really am. And I know we only saw the starters and mulequiles for one series in the preseason and it looks fantastic. That's right. March right down the field and scored. Okay. I bought into it. I really did. I thought this Dolphin defense was always going to be horrific, but I thought the offense would be manageable and they're really bad. I'm surprised. Greg, the thing that becomes difficult about this is when I keep telling you and I could identify this two quarters into the season, there's going to be a field goal team. Why? They don't have any game breakers on offense. They've got to beat you with 12 play and 15 play drives. HN is their best player, but they're not going to beat you 40 yards down the field with somebody getting past your secondary. They're going to have to keep the ball so that their defense isn't on the field. They're going to have to do these 12 and 15 play drives successfully in order to not be a field goal team and I think it's always going to get constipated in the red zone and I think they're going to spend the season kicking a bunch of field goals and then not being able to stop the other guy. Yeah. I'm not as glum as you are. I think Caleb Douglas has shown the potential to be their number one receiver. They finished the game. The other again, San Fran with a 77 yard touchdown pass. I mean, there are there are points to be optimistic about you expect them to be a big playoff offense. I didn't say that, but I think they're capable of moving the ball. I don't think Malik Willis is a bad quarterback. He's not their future, but he's not a bad quarterback. He's lower third perhaps, but he's not awful. I'd rather have him than a then a then a porcelain fragile to a tongue of a loa. I think that's. Oh, you argued on behalf of well beyond the end of his career here. You spent the entire time telling us to was their quarterback and you were last to the party of saying he wasn't our quarterback. Well, when they gave him that big contract extension, I thought that was ill timed and dubious and approved, proved to be. That's one of the reasons why the dolphins have $180 million in dead cap money because of the previous regime. Are you claiming that you weren't one of the last ones off of the Tuah Bandwagon? You're really going to claim this publicly after spending years arguing with that about relatively speaking, I stuck up for two longer than most people did, okay? Relatively speaking. But when they get in that you were arguing as if you were his relative. That's what you mean by relatively speaking. I was arguing that when healthy, the only season he was healthy, he made the proble. I wasn't in a position. I wasn't prepared to be as down onto as soon as most other people were. I'm also starting to believe that one of the fears people had when the dolphin signed Malik Willis being, are we even going to be able to tell if he's any good when he doesn't have any talent around him? I'm starting to believe that that is going to be a real problem. Well, it's a moot position whether or not Malik Willis is any good because if the dolphins are as bad as everybody thinks they're going to get a top five pick. They're going to have a choice among three or four quarterbacks, perhaps including Darian Mensa of the Hurricanes and they will draft a quarterback first, it doesn't matter how good Malik Willis is. I don't agree with that. I really don't want to do this two games into the season. I'm not doing that just yet. We'll have time for that plenty of months for that before we get to that though because Greg wanted to come in here and talk about his sub stack and his farewell column and his podcast, his podcast, the Greg Cody show featuring Greg Cody. He wanted us to play all his videos and just promote him at every turn, support Greg Cody, the late off columnist for the Miami Herald, a legend by any description. Greg, I want to play some video of you for you and I want you to give us your thoughts on this video. What do you notice about this message from Greg Cody? Hey, my part family, Greg here. How are you all doing? It's been a crazy week. I wanted to personally thank you all for the love and support since the news broke that I was going to be late off by the Miami Herald my last day, September 25th. We had like almost a record number of podcast listeners. last week. And if I'd known about that kind of response, I would have gotten laid off a lot earlier. It's apparently it's good for the podcast business. But I want all of you who were visiting our podcast for the for the first time last week to keep on and stay with us. And we look forward to seeing you again Monday when we come out. I have big news on the podcast Monday about my future in writing beyond the Miami Herald. So tune in. And thank you very much. Appreciate it. Greg, bye bye. All of us noticed something about that video. What did you notice about that video? I did. I did not notice it at the time. But in the responses to that video, there were 1,688 lint roller jokes. I mean, it's staggering how much crap good to breathe. How do you make a video looking like that? I mean, without looking at my shirt and a mirror before I do like this. You've got the video in your camera. Like, how do you not? How do you not see? And you have a dog. Like, don't you know that, okay, if I'm taking a picture, I have a couch hair. Like, I'm going to have it on me. Well, the problem is for two or three days, we had two dogs and jumping Charlie does not shed nearly as much as an unnamed dog belonging to Chris Cody. So there was that was the issue with the lint. But nobody looks at their own shirt and goes, I need a lint roller. Who has a lint roller? I don't. That's some Samantha Bennett hair if I've ever seen it. Damn, right? Bye bye. Just disgusting. He's in a backyard incidentally covered in dog shit from a hundred pound dog that he's never once picked up and never walked his dog. It's just disgusting. You have, it seems to me that your shirt is wearing a sweater. So the whole weekend because you have this dog that, I guess, will remain nameless, you, you're, you're leaving your house and you have dog hair all over you. Yeah, over my shirt. Yeah. Because I hug dogs. I'm a dog hugger. I love dogs and I hug them. There's, there's a rumor and you can read this. Some people think dogs don't like to be hugged. They like to be hugged if you know how to hug them correctly. How do you know? Because from, from years of experience, I know how to hug a dog. Nobody hugs a dog like me. So that's the reason why Benny more than Charlie was shedding on my shirt and, and the point is, I don't look at a mirror and say, wow, look at a couple of dog hairs on my shirt. A couple. I mean, you know, that can nothing. So put it on the pole. Please, that Levitard show. Do you like to hug dogs? And Chris, what did I see you mouthing back there when your father said almost a record in terms of podcast clicks that he got for being laid off? You know, almost the record, you know, didn't get his made downloads as when someone else was laid off me. But it was close. Okay. It was a nice try dad. He gave it the old college try. You know what? I acknowledge that Christopher still leads the family all time in being laid off. What a great legacy to have for your podcast. The two top episodes. Yeah, the two top episodes are your employers telling you to get out of here. Chris leads the family and clicks per layoff. That's true. He does. It's pretty funny to think of the Cody's making echoing sounds throughout our nation by being let go. So congratulations to Chris Cody for his record breaking Greg Cody show feature in Greg Cody with and congratulations to Greg Cody for his almost record breaking Greg Cody show feature in Greg Cody. Thank you. I want to circle back around here to the Miami Heat. Yannis, Antitucumpo, I really do think that people are gonna fall in love with him if he doesn't get injured and they don't get too mad about his free throws because Yannis, Antitucumpo has a very nice touch for a superstar. He knows how to behave with people. He is a wonderful league spokesman and somebody that an organization can just sort of trust to be the face and the voice and it's fairly rare to allow that to somebody who is going through their second language in America in order to do that. There's excellence, but there's also just public relations and so one of the things he always does and he did in Milwaukee every year gives the entire staff and this reminds me of Dwayne Wade at the beginning where people were just always telling him, "Please don't change. Please don't change." He was just very nice to the staff, to the janitors, to the concession workers. Anybody who was in the arena as part of the economy, Dwayne Wade was extraordinary to in a way that's lasting. It makes him have a connection to this place that's unlike any other heat player ever. But Yannis is the closest thing I've seen since then from one of these guys who comes in as his own economy. Like Shaq came in as his own economy and disrupted everything. LeBron came in and tried to but he just had so much going on that he wasn't quite what Dwayne Wade was. Yannis, here's some video of Yannis just basically giving away shoes to everybody who works for the heat. It's great because he played with Karan Butler and seeing Yannis do this where he's going around and he's reaching out to every one of the players, you see Kashad Johnson and my ring gardener, all these guys who are on the team that are like the bottom end of the roster and he's making sure that they're involved in all of this. But you also end up seeing he gives out to all of these different people around the arena, unlike you mentioned in. I think what's funny for the heat right now is the juxtaposition between the guy who is presently the face who's walking around with this smile and giving out shoes and bringing everybody in a warm way as compared to one of the previous superstars that they had and the way that he interacted with people. The artist formerly known as Jimmy Butler in Miami in the Miami Heat Arena and it's not to say that from the very beginning, there wasn't some friendships and relationships that were made, but by the end by that last year or two, it was the opposite of what this vibe is. And so for the team itself and the way that the roster is constructed, that's one thing. But for the people around the arena, around the organization, they're in a completely different headspace now with Yannis at the home. It's very nice. Also, he's always got cameras around him. Oh yeah. Everywhere he's going. Nobody's going to show you that he's a nice guy more than Yannis. He's making a lot of content around being a nice guy. That is, look, good for him. It's a nice gesture, but let's not pretend like he's not getting a bunch of free shoes from Nike for this. Oh, but both things can be true though. Like he can be making the content, and also I'm telling you that this is so about him. He is both giving an extraordinarily cheap, and he is somebody who treats people well. When I say, man, look, you remember this, you remember that Steve Harvey memo that got sent out years ago, because Steve Harvey's working so much, and his entire staff got an assortment of notes on don't look him in the eye, don't talk to him in the makeup chair. These people are so famous that every walking step they take, somebody wants to talk to him, even if they don't have anything to say. Like it's just never ending. And so some of them get very good at creating the barrier of leave me the bleep alone. I want to walk from here to the bathroom without somebody needing something with, and it's just my attention they need. Like it's just somebody wants to just be near you and say that day they talked to Yannis, and it happens even, even at work, even in your building because of the level of fame. And it's annoying. And so some people handle that with great grace. The best I've ever seen is Charles Barkley in terms of just treating everybody super sweet and having time for everybody. But that's not the way Jordan was, and it's not the way Jordan is. And I get it. You just don't want your energy sapped with every step you take. Somebody wants something from you. It's draining and annoying. And this is one of the guys universally behind the scenes when the cameras aren't there. Everyone says good guy treats people correctly, little immature, but treats people correctly. It comes from very humble beginnings and has not forgotten that in the way that he treats people. But the other thing that's happening here around the heat, and I've had this conversation with you guys. The heat love, what was that? What was that? I think in a sip of coffee, what do you mean? My coffee made a noise going back down into the canister. You know, it's sous my coffee. Your stomach has distracted me for several months on the show because you don't have breakfast and then you drink that coffee. Yeah, I had a couple of pieces of bacon. Always good here. The bacon, the bacon maker, whoever that is, is just top-notch. Speaking of Yannis, top-notch bacon maker here. Go on, what were you saying? The grumbling in your stomach has been a distraction for several months. It's dancing swords in your catchphrase countdown and it is something that you don't hear but is palpably distracting me because I think there's a gargoyle over my shoulder and it's about to bite me. I feel like the sounds that I hear, well they're just not human sounds. They're not, it's either a gargoyle or a demon. It's something that doesn't come from a human body and it's regularly in your stomach because you don't eat before drinking a several thermoses with coffee before the show starts. - Thurman Thomas. - Down Levitar. - 16. - Great Cody. - Take the rest of the day off. - This is the Down Levitar show. (upbeat music) - Dan, I had observation over the last year of really observing Zazzle. He and him sit next to each other at the table for a pre-show meeting, kind of talk about certain things, live breakfast, and I can always tell when Zazz hits the road, when he has done something calorically that weekend that he very much regrets, and it feels like. - Have you told him this? - No, this is the first time. This is the first time I ever mentioned this. - So hold on, Zazz, before we get to whatever might be your, I ate poorly, tell, did you over the weekend while doing college football and cheerleading at SMU Louisville, in which you were seen, you know, pom-poms, the whole, you did cheerleading well. - Yeah, for that. - Did you indeed eat very poorly this weekend? - No, I don't think so. - Because Tony thinks that he's got a tell from you. - Really? - No idea what it is. - I don't know. It's after the last year of you being out on the road, you come back, and when I feel like you've eaten something, you've eaten bad all weekend, maybe drank a little bit too much. - Oh, I definitely drink. - Okay. - You come back and your first couple of breakfasts are just a mountain of eggs. (laughing) - So many eggs. - Do we zoom in on the plate of eggs? - Okay, wait, so Zazz, is this what's happening here? Is it after you drink to you then, is your hangover cure that week to begin the week with, I'm just gonna pound protein clean and easy. - This is true. I'm just gonna eat, so this is after you've had too much to drink. - Yeah, I'm getting the week started off right. I need some protein and just some, just some eggs back in this belly. - And that is it. - This is true. - That's a 12 inch plate around. He's got half of the plate filled with egg. - Eggs are good for you. - No, no, I know, I agree. But I can always tell, Zazz didn't do something, he liked this weekend, when you come in instead of getting a bagel, come with pieces of bacon, like a French toast, a waffle, something like that, all of a sudden it's just a mountain of eggs. I'm like, oh, Zazz is here. - Right, I gotta change it up now. I've been traveling for a few weeks, now I'm traveling every single weekend, and yet to get the week off right, I gotta get those eggs back in me. Yep. You all right? - I get after it. - So Greg Cody eats bacon with no napkin, just with his hand, how many pieces of bacon did you have this morning? - I only had two, which is not a lot for me. - Zazz, the way that he fixes his diet is mountainous eggs. What are you dressed as today, Zazz? What is happening here? That hair, you are very muscular, but you have what is clearly a wig on. - Why is it clearly? I am dressed as he-man, he-man, that's right. I know I do, right? Just to be fair, right? - Good look for me. - Nice sword. A bald, is that right? - And of course, I have the power sword. - But I think you look more intimidating, bald than with that hair. That feels like he-man is trying too hard before going out for cocktails with a special somebody. He-man has combed his hair in a way that is making him more vain that I think of him as. - Well, I'm very attractive when I'm he-man, you know? When, without the hair, I'm just Prince Jonathan, okay? But when I got the power sword, then I become he-man. Or some, some boy. - Some may comb, nope, Zazz, man. - Are you willing to cop, though? We have a tell that you did not know was a tell in the offices, which is we know when you've had too much to drink over the weekend, and it's when you get a giant mountainous plate of eggs. - Yeah, and especially I was in Louisville. I mean, what? Kentucky, bourbon? You don't think I went to the bourbon to still rease over the weekend? On ESPN's dime? Yes, of course. Of course I visited the bourbon to still re-. - Are you still getting sweets in first class on the road, or did they figure out? - No. They answer that question is no. But we did stay in a great hotel this weekend. So the hotel is still really good, but am I getting these special amenities? No. - So you tricked them for how long getting at you- - Two years. - Wow. - Two years. I may have been, look, this may have been on me. It may have been my- I may have been a little too loud about it on this show. That may have been a mistake. Now that I think about it, I should have been a little quieter about what I was receiving that I probably shouldn't have received. Same thing goes for the first class, okay. I'm still getting business tickets, a class, but I've yet to get the first class. That's on me. I should have kept that to myself. But instead, and I know what happened to snitches. They get hurt then. I should have been quiet. The thing that I was beginning to say there before we derailed into the hangover eggs is that the heat are really, really high on Pella Larson. And they gave him, you know, they gave Nico the same amount of money and had hopes there that did not pan out. And it's one of the worst contracts, if not the worst on the roster, 'cause they have to pay him into the 2030s. And I don't think that you can have those redundant skill sets. I think Pella Larson just took everything that would have been Nico's, if he had grown into what they were expecting him to grow into, which is a Danilo Galanari type that he did not grow into. But the heat are super high on Pella Larson. And I don't think the NBA at large is super high on Pella Larson. In fact, every time I'm watching games last year, I keep seeing him underestimated by opponents who aren't taking all of that seriously. And he just is unusually aggressive and physical. Even by the standards of the NBA, I think he is unusually unafraid of elbows. Unusually unafraid of contact. And that's a useful tool to have near-yawness, just getting fouls. Like, you guys give me all the guys that you think of as just being completely unafraid of elbows, knees, and all contact. Because the thing that I think is most valuable about him is he plays with a pinballing recklessness that's contained and is going to get them a ton of free throws. And he's a huge pest. Like, he's the-- and teams he, guys, like this, where the other team really doesn't like playing against him, because he's really annoying. Because he's trying like that, though. A guy who's not afraid of elbows, like, around our test was like that, not that this is run or test. But when you're dealing with a guy who doesn't care if he loses his teeth because of how he's playing you, there aren't that many of those in the NBA. There are plenty of people who are physical, but there aren't that many who aren't afraid of losing their teeth. I love the contract. They're banking on the same way that they banked on Yovic, and it has not worked out so far. They're banking on two years from now. He is so far outperforming a contract that's averaging $15 million a season. I will say the difference with Yovic and him. They gave Yovic the deal, essentially, what they think he's going to become. We still hadn't even seen anything really from Yovic. They're seeing behind the scenes, but we hadn't really seen it in games yet. We've seen it in games with Bella Larsen. Like, at least there's something in front of us to make us also believe that in what they see in him. - Larsen came in as a guy who played five years in college. Like, he's 25 years old. Yovic is still only 23 years old. There's a two year age difference. And Larsen came in as what was close to a finished product. By the end of his rookie year, he had earned his way into a rotation with a roster where it didn't even make sense for him to be playing because he had just played that well behind the scenes. And like, to your point, Dan, there's literally a Twitter account called did Bella get hit that just shows every single time he gets elbowed in the face because he's playing that type of defense. - And he's not afraid of that stuff in a way that I think this is the part that's interesting because I, too, am guilty of underestimating him. And I have the heat telling me, why would you underestimate how Spowe will use Janus? Like, when I talk to them about Bella, they say Spowe and Janus. Like, they're not. The thing that just happened to Nico Yovic is that you saw last year the Miami Heat were just simply trying to invent offense with creative style that is just Spowe inventing. What do I do here with Norm Powell and Tyler Hero and Davey on Mitchell, I'm just gonna play as fast as I can. I'm not, that's gonna stop. They're not gonna keep playing like that. And that's where Bella takes the job of Nico. That's how it happened. Nico doesn't get to play with Janus so he doesn't get the opportunity Janus now affords because he didn't show them during this period that Jeremy's talking about. He didn't show them anything. And now Bella Larson's about to get a life-changing opportunity because you're gonna think he grew a lot and he did probably, but what's gonna grow the most is he's playing with that guy and that coach and people are gonna be like, ah, I shouldn't have underestimated that because I think people are underestimating how much Janus specifically with Spowe is going to change how much better some of these other players look. The Heat are gonna be really good. They are. Like, I know people wanna look at the roster. Oh, you know, look at the starting five in Philadelphia and he don't have a starting five that matches a team like that but the Heat are gonna be really good. They have the sixth man of the year, Bella Larson, I told you guys a few weeks ago, you should have listened then. - I wanna ask you all about a big picture question with the Heat because when you say the Heat are gonna be really good, I don't think people at large are impressed by the Heat's Janus-led makeover and I wanna use anecdotal evidence here. ESPN comes out with one of these predictions where they have their 55 NBA insiders all predict who's gonna make it. the NBA Finals, zero of the 55, pick Miami to reach the finals. Now I'm not, you know, I didn't expect them to be in the majority, you know, over the nicks and now you got LeBron with Philly and all that, but I expected a couple of votes maybe. Are you all as surprised as me that the Yannis thing doesn't seem to have made much of a ripple outside of my hand? Half King sports books slots the heat essentially in a play in position. They give the East seventh best odds of winning the conference or the NBA Finals to the Miami Heat. So they basically got them at seven. And that's like, that's what I said outside of Miami, Yannis coming to Miami doesn't seem to have even made a ripple, let alone I will just say it again because the heat are saying it to me. Go ahead and underestimate whatever Yannis and Spowe can invent together because it's what they're saying to me because I'm like, I don't see it either. I don't see top of the conference good. I don't see good as Philadelphia. I don't see deep into the playoffs with what they presently have, but I don't have a rebuttal to why would you underestimate what Spowe can do with Yannis?
