The speaker delivers a stream-of-consciousness critique of the British royal family, calling them an outdated, inherited power structure that contradicts modern struggles for equality. They question why the monarchy is still revered, especially amid alleged mistreatment of Meghan Markle, and feel it’s hypocritical to idolize unearned privilege. Contrasting this, they passionately admire the K-pop group BTS, highlighting their humble beginnings, perseverance against odds, and genuine connection with fans (the “ARMY”). The speaker finds BTS’s humility and hard work inspiring, opposite to the royal family’s entitlement.
Shifting to personal life, they quit Pilates due to toxic social interactions with some older women, adopted a simple diet of dry salad and chicken inspired by BTS’s Jungkook, and now posts emotional content about the band on the Weverse app, finding a supportive community there. They discuss reading Haruki Murakami’s novels, critiquing *Kafka on the Shore* as unsettling but appreciating *The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle* for its relatable themes of directionlessness. Next, they plan to read classic stories of female warriors like Antigone and Medea.
The speaker also touches on Canada’s slow vaccine rollout compared to the U.S., expressing mild anxiety but willingness to get vaccinated, and laments the high price of Peking duck, wishing for affordable snack versions. Overall, the monologue weaves social criticism, personal anecdotes, and cultural observations.
[Music] What is this whole thing with the royal family? Why is everyone still talking about the royal family? That came to my attention. Why is there even a royal family? Seems really fucked up. Literally the opposite of everything that we're trying to do, it feels like it goes against everything. Why is nobody up in arms about that? I don't know. It feels really strange. If anyone, why do we even call the Illuminati the Illuminati? And we act like this anonymous figure. It's the royal family. We know who they are. A fucking the only monarchy left. They're obviously the Illuminati. Oh my god. I am scared of them though. I actually, maybe I should, they're not going to listen to me talking. I'm not on their radar. They're trying to kill Megan Markle. They're not trying to keep tops on me. But yeah, you know, I don't know how far their fucking arms reach. They're so, it's so creepy. Like, why are they, okay. Anyways, what is that whole thing anyway? Right? They're mad at Megan Markle for what? Being half black, I don't, it seems like the problem. I really don't even know what she did. I think I saw some article of the, like, people from the UK being like, "Oh, she was really rude or something." It's like, "Well, aren't they all rude?" They're all like, old, rich white people. Like, coming from generations of like, abusing power. Like, literally inheriting power. None of them earning anything. Like, I just don't have any respect for people that was just born into some things. I mean, you know, they're still people and they deserve to live and be a part of the world. Like, you know, it's not like they asked to be a part of the royal family. It is like winning the lottery. But I'm just saying, like, there's nothing admirable about it. It doesn't make you inherently a good person just because you're born into the royal family. I don't know why we idolize them or I guess some people do. I don't know why people look to them for leadership. Like, that's not, I don't know. It just seems really weird that we're all fighting for, you know, civil rights and everyone is trying so hard to stay alive and be part of this world. Like, we're all struggling. But there's our royal family. Huh? But like, it seems like something from a different world. And I don't know why more people isn't trying to like, take them, like, just abolish that whole idea of having a royal family. But I guess it doesn't touch us that much. Even though we're at Canada is literally a part of their, their whole system. Like, we are affected. We have to pay for their stupid lives. Part of it sometimes. So yeah, I think it's stupid. I don't think, I don't think it's the, I haven't done, I have done zero research. I've literally done no research. I don't know if the US has affiliated, but my hunch is that they are not because they have a president. Okay, yeah, I should know that. I'm sorry that I sound really fucking stupid right now. But seriously, I have not Googled one thing. I just, all I know about the royal family is that Megan Markle was on suits and that's how I knew her. And she was, I was thought she was super pretty. And I hate, but I hated suits because it was all, we talked about in business school. That was the one thing we did for fun. And it was not fun to watch a fucking show about business. Like, Jesus Christ. Can we do something else? And then I quit business school, which is good. But yeah, I think Canada, I think no one cares about this issue, because it doesn't really affect anyone in the States. And if it doesn't affect the States, then Canada is not concerned. Because we're just piggybacking on the States. It sucks. I hate that we don't have our own thing. It's so stupid. I hate this country. Okay, I don't mean that. I like Canada. It's just like, come on. Let's worry about our own issues. Okay, we're not. We don't have to care that much about the States. Of course they affect us, but we have a lot of problems here too. So when we look at those first before, we're like, oh well, it affects it. It does affect us a little bit, but we have so many issues. Anyways, back to my life. I have quit Pilates for good, and I'm so happy. I haven't been happier. Pilates is really, had a, in hindsight, it had a really strange energy to it, because it was frequented. Like it was basically an old white woman playground, and that's fine. There's so many nice old white ladies, but they're, they're strange energy there, where people are very caddy, and they're worried about things that don't really matter. I don't know. They were just, there were a lot of nice ones, but some of them were really mean for no reason. So it was strange, and I didn't have the energy to fight with old white ladies. When old white ladies want to fight with you, they will go all out. It's, because they have like nothing to lose really, because they have time, they have money, they have energy, I think. So they just will go with you, wherever you want to go. So I, and I wasn't prepared to take it wherever, what old white lady wanted to go with me. They were nice though, a most of them were nice. Some of them, not so much. I have totally stopped cooking. I've, I watched a, so Jungkook is in BTS, if you didn't know. He is the youngest, and he did a live recently. He went on live, and he was eating a salad with roast, with roasted duck. And he had a salad with no dressing. And that inspired me a lot, to also eat salad with no dressing. So I'm into that now, because it's so easy, you just buy salad mix from organic girl. Perfect marketing to me. I am a girl, and I like the word organic. So great, great job team. Organic girl. Yeah, I want to be an organic girl, so bought, cake, cha-ching for organic girl. So you know, all you have to do is just buy the salad mix, and then just eat it. Perfect. Cook a chicken breast that takes like two seconds. Just put salt and pepper on it, right? Why didn't I do this before? I don't need to eat lasagna, or linguine, or what else requires cooking. I can only think of pastas. But you know, I don't need a casserole. I just need the basic nutrients, like all I want from my food, is sometimes I want to eat Asian food, cooked by Asian people, and not me. Well, I'm Asian, but like cooked by, you know, a mom, an Asian mom at a restaurant, or something, or a chef, whoever. But not me. So I want that sometimes, but most of the time, I just want to fill my basic nutritional needs. I just want to have that energy, and stuff like that. So perfect. I found the best solution to my problem. Thank you, Jungkook, for doing a live of you just eating dry salad, because that made it that clicked in my head. I was like, if Jungkook's going to eat a dry salad, I will, for sure, eat a dry salad. One of my better than Jungkook, of course not. Of course not. You know, I find
that it's hard for me to relate to anyone nowadays because all I want to do is post about BTS but I know that a lot of people will just take that as me being shallow and liking them for their looks and that is not it at all I cry at the drop of a hat when I think about them I don't need to look at them. I really just they're the antithesis of the royal family okay they were born all of them were poor they all were all poor and they all had to have jobs and Shuga one of the members he even had all all of their families were against their music careers they all tried to beg they begged them not to do it they thought it was foolish because all their families came from like poor backgrounds so of course they wanted them to choose something more stable and Shuga's mom even got went as far as throwing away Shuga's music stuff that's so upsetting that's so sad but even with all those obstacles of being poor being from a small label being not being supported by their families not being taken seriously by anyone because of their name because their name is BTS like which stands for bulletproof boy scouts in Korean they people made fun of them but against all odds they made it from hard work and in just perseverance and and just that makes me feel so it just warms my heart and on top of that they are not as holes that that's so important to me like they're so humble they did you know that but one of their songs like they're constantly writing love songs for their fans like boy with love is for their fans it's a hundred percent dedicated to the fans and the meaning behind it is so great it's so it's so much deeper than just a love song so I it's like some of the lyrics include Army so Army is the fan base name armies got them gave them the wings to fly high and they flew high they flew so high in such a short amount of time thanks to armies and but like they're flying so high but they want to still keep at our I level which so they want to just spend the time with us with our means you know so that they're not caught up by like the fame and the fortune like they what they know it's still all about their fans which is so touching and one of the lyrics is so poetic too I've been getting really into like stupid poetic stuff and one of the lyrics is like with the wings of Icarus you gave me I will fly I will fly not towards the sun but to you that's so poetic it doesn't matter how much you hate poetry you still have to appreciate the poeticism of that verse or if that line it's there's so many layers I'm just so touched by their humble personalities and so to combat that I haven't been posting a lot on social media because all I can think about is these perfect boys and also I'm reading another Herruki Mara Kami book which I'm excited to recap for you soon it's better than Kafka on the shore it was really weird it was to Kafka on the shore I get it it's about you know it's about a relationship between a mother and a son the the mother that he never had had a chance to experience a sister he never got a chance to grow up with it was those two things but converted into almost a sexual love it confusing with sexual love because this boy is blossoming into a man or whatever it was still weird though to say the words like you know I'm gonna I want to fuck my mom I like her body you know like that kind of thing I just wasn't didn't like that even though it was like kind of a metaphor I but my point is I've been posting on Weverse yeah which is they app for just like fans of music it's like there's only a handful of bands on there but it was created for the purpose of like following BTS it's made by BTS its company and but it's like a social media platform where BTS posts on but their fans can also post on it's actually really great idea for an app and I'm just like a huge fan of this app because I could just post like the cheesiest thing about BTS and everyone just like so supportive and like for example this really cheesy post I did because I felt I was really emotional I said sometimes I feel sad that I hadn't known BTS sooner I wish I helped them get their wings when they needed it the most but I'm so happy to see them fly high in mighty and I will never leave their side from now on yeah that I couldn't post that anywhere can you imagine people would have sent me like stuff like are you okay do you need help or whatever mean thing people would say to mock me but instead I got very nice comments people supportive people being like oh my god same like but at least we know them now you know like that's the kind of energy I wanted and so I post a lot to weverse now yeah it's been nice because I I sort of almost don't want BTS to be so mainstream that I could post stuff like that because then I still want it to feel like their mind and armies but not like just North America's because I don't know I think North America just ruins things for me it just ruins just puts a bad taste in my mouth no matter what it is so yeah that's why I'm not really looking forward to the Grammys because I don't know either way it's gonna be disappointing because if they lose their nomination then they'll then it's an injustice but if they win the category then I feel like they'll become too mainstream I don't know I just think I'm not wishing them ill I just think that they have all the success they need and anymore would wouldn't even be helpful for them instead it would just make my experience bad maybe I'm being selfish but either way that's how I feel maybe I'll post that on to weverse see how the the troops the troops feel the fellow troops of the army I am reading the Wind Up Bird Chronicle which is another Horugi Morakami book it's very good I recommend that one to begin with okay I made the mistake of starting with the hardest Morakami book to read which is a thousand-page thing 1884 about basically two people just living their lives it's not not a lot happens the premise could have been really it's like kind of magical but a lot of it's just daily living that he's describing in the book so it's kind of hard read if you're just starting into Morakami but and then I read like Kafka on the Shore which is also kind of like a reverse eetapiss where he's trying to go out to fuck his mom he's going on a journey to try to go fuck his mom and sister so yeah I reverse eetapiss and that is what Morakami intended and in a way it it is kind of beautiful it still wasn't it for me and maybe it wasn't relatable enough I just never felt
like a guy that wanted to fuck his mom. But I get the like, wanting your mom to love you because my mom wasn't really there much, but I mean. it wasn't the same feelings that I had. I didn't really relate to Kafka. So. That was also strange and there was also the sinister vibe because there was a really gruesome cat murder scene in the book. But I really enjoyed Wind Up Bird Chronicle. It's about a man whose wife leaves him out of nowhere. There were signs, but he didn't catch on because he's kind of a luth. He's a luth because he's unmotivated. He had quit his job and become just very directionless and not really know what he's doing. So it was kind of relatable to me, actually very relatable to me because I. Stand up stopping has been really kind of a crazy time. It has made me question a lot of my decisions in my life, but I feel fine now, so don't worry about me. I. Definitely related to that feeling, but also just like this woman leaving him and him figuring out why, how to save her, etc., etc. It was just really good. There was another really gruesome scene though about a man being. skinned alive. Yes, that's very. I'm sorry, that I said that. But just forget that I said that. But it's part of the. to illustrate how war can be extremely. in. inhumane and just gruesome and grotesque and just. disgusting. So I. I understood that. But it's a good read, if. other than that part. that part was really hard to listen to. I listened to it before bed too. So it. I realized my mistake, but the book was so good I couldn't stop, but I was like, really before bed thinking, wow, I definitely should do something else to counterbalance this, because this would be the equivalent of eating like a really, really spicy, oily, disgusting meal before bed. Like, I'm gonna have nightmares and I'm gonna wake up sweating. And. and then the next day I'm gonna like. poo. So. I wanted to cleanse my palate. And so I just like watched. some BTS stuff I thought about BTS. I remember being like, just think about them, because I was so tired I almost couldn't watch. watch BTS do stuff. So yeah, I was just like. and I think I did it. I think I balanced it because I didn't dream about, you know, disgusting war stuff. I actually had dreams about, I think, just like pizza or something. Which is disappointing because I wanted to dream about BTS, but I'll take it. I'll take a dream about pizza. And I. I. So I finished my book and now I'm reading Norwegian Wood, which is another more calming novel. I just can't get enough, but I think I'm gonna go on to the classics next after this short book. Norwegian Wood is really short, but I really wanna read that one. It's about two college students or high school students that. one of their friends killed themselves and then. they. things unfolded. They're in college. And. they. a lot of stuff happened. I haven't finished it, but. that's the gist of it. These two people have that together. 'Cause this part, the person that. their friend that killed themselves. was someone that. they were both close to, but by connection to that. Like, they had no friendship together, but because of the person that killed themselves. They have a friendship. And so. that's. it was. it's interesting. It's an interesting premise. But it's very short, so I can't wait to finish it. And then I think I'm gonna move on to the classics. I want to read about. Cersei. and. E-ta. No, not E-ta-pas. I already know. I know too much about E-ta-pas. But I. I. I think I wanna know more about. *scoffs* Achilles. Oh my god. I forgot his name. Achilles. And. Odysseus, etc. But actually not even those, but more of the female heroines. I wanted to know the ancient stories of women. warriors. like Antigone. and. Medea. stuff like that. So. I'm gonna read those next. See how that makes me feel. Have you gotten your vaccine yet? Canada. is lacking on that, huh? We really wanted to follow in the footsteps of our big brother. America. and getting the vaccine. I know a lot of people have had it. And we haven't. Most of us haven't. And I think that makes us furious. 'Cause. the only thing we care about is trying to be like America. And we don't have the vaccine yet. So I think we're getting that soon. I'm a little nervous about it, but why should I be? I think it's just all the talk. People. say crazy things, but. I'll do some research before I. but I think it's safe, right? Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is. I'll do anything. the public tells me to. So I'm gonna shit. Actually. pump it in me. I've had so many vaccines that I don't even know about. You know when in grade. nine. when you get your like tetanus shot or something. your tetanus update. your updated vaccines. you get handed your list of. vaccines that you've had in the past. All of my friends had like three or four. I had like ten. 'cause I came from China and I. I don't know. They just did whatever they wanted. I remember getting pokes on my butt so much when I was a kid. That was seared into my memory. Being poked in the butt. I remember crying. super hard. I was always at the doctor. I don't know why. No one's ever told me anything about that, but I was always. I was basically in and out of the hospital a lot. And I have a huge list of vaccines. A lot of them. I remember three distinctly stood out to me because they had the word Japanese in it. And I was like, "What's that?" "Does this vaccine make me Japanese?" That's a stupid joke. Please ignore that. That's so stupid. That's on it. Probably the dumbest thing I've ever said. So. But I did have those vaccines. Like one of them said like, "Japanese something something." Like I had three of those, three separate shots of the Japanese thing. And then like a bunch of other things. So I don't even care. Whatever it is. I pretty much have every shot in my body. So bring another one. Why not. for public health? You know what's a shame? There isn't really a duck. a peeking duck restaurant. that I like. And it's so expensive. Why can't you get peeking duck as a snack? Every peeking duck, the cheapest peeking duck I've seen in the city is like $70. But I just want a piece. It's such a little thing. I used to get it so much like my family. Like. Oh, and ever. There's a group dinner. I remember. looking forward so much to the peeking duck. But now that I'm adult and I. can go see what the prices are and. I have to go myself and no one's paying for me. I realize, wow, why is this so expensive? Geez. Come on. Someone should make a snack peeking duck. But like the real thing. With the fatty skin and the. meat and. I want. I want a duck. I'm looking at this headline. This 11-year-old is the youngest member of Canada's skateboarding team. Where is the skateboarding team? Who. Who. I have every question. I have literally all of the who. what. when. where. how. for this article. I didn't know we had a skateboarding team. I didn't know where. Yeah, all of the questions. How went, what, where, why? It's cool. I like that kids can do anything they want. It's good to have options. I hate when all the options are taken away. I'm glad there's a skateboarding team and this 11-year-old could do it. I hate when, I hate when. I feel like it's such an adult thing to be like, "Oh, your options are limited." I love when people make jobs out of unconventional things. I was thinking that about Faker, the video game person from Korea. Faker, I only know Faker because of they appeared on BTS. This is a variety show. Faker and a bunch of like league players went on to run BTS and they played games together, which was really fun to see. But that's how I know Faker and it's really cool that you could. That could be your job. That would be. I wish that I was so good at video games that I could have it be my job because that's the biggest fuck you to like society, to your parents, to old people who don't understand things like that or like you must do this. You must conform. You must study and then do this and this. It's really like the reverse of that, which is, "No, I'm gonna get really good at playing video games and then it's gonna be lucrative for me and then I'm gonna make twice as much money as you doing something I just like doing." Oh, it must feel so good to be Faker, to just. well like on top of being rich. But, and having earned it too, but the satisfaction of your parents who were like, "Come on, stop playing video games. To be like, well look at this now." Wow, that must be so nice. I would just like, I don't even, I'm not good at video games and I don't really find it interesting for me personally, but I wish I was. I just want that feeling of like, "I did this. I did it." Fuck you, fuck everyone that's ever told me to study. Especially my stupid French teacher in grade 9, who like, referred me to the counselor. Like, she told me for falling asleep in her stupid French class. It's like, "I'm sleepy." She thought there was something wrong at home. It's like, "No, I'm just sleepy. Why can't I be sleepy? Is that such a weird thing for someone to be sleepy? Like, you made me fucking go to school from 8 to 3. How many hours is that? 7, 7ish hours, but I have to get ready for school at 7.30 and I have to do fucking bullshit homework. Yeah, I'm sleepy. Okay, especially during this time when I'm supposed to be growing. I'm growing. I'm stretching my bones and muscles and my body and my skin. All the while, I have to fucking learn French and math and English and I have to be at school and talk to my friends and stuff like that. Yeah, I'm sleepy. Okay? She thought there was like something incredibly wrong about me. She like, sat me down. I think maybe I heard her feelings because she was kind of like a new teacher. But I just didn't like that kind of energy. I was like, "Oh, you're sleepy?" She really rattled something up because I had to lie to the counselor being like, "Yeah." Because I wasn't sure what they were going to do if I just said that I was sleepy. If the problem was just that I was sleepy. So I made up a lie. I was like, "Yeah, you know, I'm worried about my mom." And then it became this whole thing. I just lied as a teen because it was easier to just lie sometimes because people would just fucking ask me shit. And so I lied. I was like, "I'm worried about my mom." And she was like, "Whoa, what's going on with your mom?" And then there was the whole thing. It was like an investigation. No police were involved, but it was just like people just, they were trying to reach my mom. And I had to say she was busy. And yeah. So if I were good, if I was faker, but then I had everything the same in my regular life, I would just go to my school and tell my French teacher that it's fine to be sleepy and you don't have to study French. Because look at me, I'm faker. Like in the scenario, I'm faker, but then it's still my life. I say to my French teacher, "Look at this. I don't, who cares about French? I love sleeping in your class. This is my rest from when I have to do my lucrit, when I spend all day playing video games for my lucrative job, I will take my rest during your stupid French class. Thank you." Yeah, that's actually super, I, that's cool of faker. I respect someone who does something really well for a really long time and gets it right. And then, saying, "I did it to their family." That's what all of BTS did too. All of them went against their family's wishes and got really good at being a K-pop group. So there you go. One more thing I wanted to add was, "Emboy with love." They did a thing for singing in the rain, which is an American film about, I don't know if you've seen it, but it's American film about the singer who has a bad voice and with pictures or movies being sound, this is an old movie. So it was silent film and then it became the silent film actress transitioned into the sound era and has a bad voice. But she still wanted to act as a singer and so they used a double. Someone behind the curtain who is not a star, who is not a huge star, not a star at all, but she has a great singing voice and so she sings behind the curtain for this silent film actress that used to be in the silent era, but she has like a huge name recognition. And so they used her. But then at the end of the movie, the curtain is revealed, the curtain is pulled back and it is revealed that the singer and the beautiful voice has been, the real star has been the person behind the curtain after all. It was the hidden talent. It was not actually the star, it was actually, you know, there's no name woman who was singing all this time. So they did that movie like "Boy with Love" which is the BTS music video. They did that because they wanted to, that was the message that you wanted to say. Like, like, ARMYs is the real star. Like, everyone celebrates them for their success but they're trying to say like, "Army is the real star" which is so touching. That's so nice. One nice voice. Anyways, that's probably about it. I am hungry. I'm gonna go eat a bowl of dry lettuce and actually, no, it's not just lettuce. I'm sorry to be dragging down the name of organic girl. I didn't mean to do that. It's just lettuce is so easy to say but it's actually a mix of like supergreens where it's very nutritious. So I'm gonna eat like a bowl of dry supergreens from organic girl which I love that name. I love that marketing campaign. And maybe like a piece of chicken that I'm gonna just use salt and pepper on because I have no patience anymore. Alright, bye.
