Current CDC statistics confirm that hard disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States with associated core morbidities also in the top 10. It has long been acknowledged that nutrition plays a role in cardiovascular health. As such, multiple nutrients have proven themselves useful to practitioners as tools to help their patients mitigate risk. Today, we will look at these nutrients and how they can affect lipid levels, blood pressure, endothelial function, and inflammation. Deving into the topic with me today, I have two experienced professionals that I would like to introduce. First, Joe Bushes. Joe Bushes, a licensed dietitian nutritionist and CCN has been using Biotics products clinically for over 40 years. He is also the host of a video magazine called The Tuesday Minute. Also with us is Joanne Carroll. Joanne is the Biotics Senior Functional Medicine Consultant in the Carolinas and North Georgia. To begin our discussion today, we will begin with Vascular Surge. At Biotics Research, we have been fortunate to have input from thought leaders such as Dr. Mark Houston. Dr. Houston has gotten the formulation of several products in the heart vascular category. Therefore, it seems appropriate to kick off our conversation with a foundational product that has benefited from his input. Joe, would you mind starting our conversation with Vascular Surge and highlight why this product could be part of many heart and vascular protocols? I'd be pleased to do that. It's pretty amazing when you think about humans that we've got 14,000 square feet of blood vessels, they carry nutrients, minerals, amino acids, hormones, and oxygen, every one of ourselves. 14,000 square feet is the size of 6 1/2 tennis courts. And yet, our bodies repair, rebuild, and maintain all that tubing. And we never even think about it. But one little break in those vessels, if not repaired, quick enough, can cause a stroke or internal bleeding. And as you mentioned, Dr. Houston, who holds advanced degrees in medicine, anti-aging, and hypertension, has really spent his entire career studying blood vessels. And he spent about three years developing a product called vasculose, but during that same period, some Harvard information came out discovering the longevity genes called sirtoins. And they could be enhanced by natural compounds. The principal being one transversive withdrawal. So combining his own research with the Harvard Research on transveratrol, the formula vasculose heart was developed. A vasculose heart to feed the vasculose system and search to enhance the sirtoine class of longevity genes. Vasculose heart is really the state of the IRB high-tech formula provides comprehensive support for healthy cardiovascular function. Vasculose heart contains therapeutic doses of transveratrol, acetylocardotine, mulsified coenzyne Q10, green TX tract is EGCG. Our alpha-like acid vitamin K is MK7, vitamin D3, plus a phytochemical blend of antioxidant plants and immune modulators like olive leaf extract, corsetine, ginkgo biloba, phytoleens, lutein, lycopene, as well as some basic cofactors and B vitamins, methylated B vitamins and magnesium glycinate. One of Dr. Houston's goals was to put all that in one formula and increase patient compliance. And so we put therapeutic doses of five supplements into one formula. Another goal was to provide nutrients who enhance the mitochondrial function of the cell. Most of us know the number of mitochondrial per cell varies from a few hundred in skin cells, the 10,000 per cell in T energy centers of the body, like the brain, skeletal muscles, heart, and the eye. And the number of mitochondria in smooth muscles and endothelial cells is also extensive. And some authors suggest vascular disease is caused by primary mitochondrial dysfunction. I didn't realize at first that vascular served from my perspective is really biotics-premier mitochondrial support formula. So you're gonna find vascular served with help with many of the oxidative conditions associated with aging and mental clarity. I've heard feedback over the years how vascular served has helped with challenging blood and severe problems when other therapies didn't work. Probably the most surprising was the severe case of muscle cramps at night with an 85 year old MD PhD that literally tried everything. The cramps are so bad she would wake up, had to wake up her 50 year old daughter to massage her legs for 30 minutes or more each night for months after being on vascular served for a couple of weeks, her muscles cramps completely stopped. I think it had been a preventative for hangovers if someone's planning on drinking and excess. So consider vascular served with injury recovery or exercise endurance. Many professional football players and cage fighters use vascular served as their recovery multiple. Also some clinicians recommend vascular served for ED. Dr. Houston is famous for saying if you have ED or recyle dysfunction, you have ED and the field dysfunction. Keep in mind there's 76 million baby boomers like me that are thinking about quality of life and life enhancement. So feeding blood vessels and tuning up my genes or taking my exercise workout to the next level are priorities. It's just this kind of a side note. Masscules helped me increase my running from two miles to four miles several years ago. And then for some reason I stopped taking them. And all of a sudden I started doing the research on mitochondrial support and realized how important vascular served was to support mitochondria. And I just went back on it just three capsules twice a day. And after a couple of weeks I found myself running up my 26 stairs to my second story office. So it's very powerful on multiple levels. Now I know Dr. Houston is working with advanced health challenges. So he uses five capsules twice a day. But I generally suggest that those for the first month to increase cellular reserves, but then drop the dose to five a day as the patient progresses. Joe, I don't think that we could under emphasize how important the mitochondria are. And really the fact that this product is able to touch the mitochondria so effectively. I really appreciate you bringing that forward. That's such a valuable point and a really great way to visualize how this product fits in the clinical practice. When you look at a combination product like this, just think in patient compliance for a moment here. The levels of nutrients, the quantity of each of the nutrients in this product are what we would consider at therapeutic levels. They're clinically relevant levels. And so instead of practitioners feeling like they need to put patients on multiple different products to accomplish the number of different things that they may be targeting in some of these mitochondrial deficiency states, they can just turn to a single product like this, keep the patient compliance up and still get the outcome that they're looking for. So again, I appreciate you bringing all that information forward. And this is a multi-nutrient product. And I make mention of that because the next product that we're going to talk about here, which is biocardios on forte, is also a multi-nutrient product. And vascular serotonin biocardios on forte could in some ways both be thought about as multivitamin types of products, although they're much more specialized. Joe highlighted the uniqueness behind vascular serp. I think about biocardios on forte is more of a foundational type of product for cardiovascular protocols. It's going to contain all of the activated forms of b-vitamin. So for those individuals that are highlighting the necessity for b-vitamins to support methylation pathways with the intention of trying to drive down homocysteine as an initiating factor in cardiovascular disease, this is going to be able to start those pathways in more officially optimized those pathways. You'll notice when you look at the ingredient profile on this product as well, one of the things that you'll see is that the ratio between calcium to magnesium. And let me say that the other way between magnesium to calcium is two to one, meaning that there's twice as much magnesium as there is calcium. Acknowledging the role that magnesium has in regards to whether it's the rhythm of a hog, whether we're looking at it.
clotting activity associated with it. There's any number of mechanisms that we can link magnesium and cardiovascular disease. And then you'll see in the towards the end of the label there, we've got a couple of amino acids in here. For example, we've got touring and cysteine in these in this profile. And those are relevant because those are going to support the transsofaration pathway. And the relevance to this is that ultimately what we're trying to do is optimize the conversion from home assisting through a couple of different steps and ultimately get to touring. And the reason that touring is important here is that the concentration of touring in the heart is very high. The brain, the heart, the muscle tissue are going to be the highest concentrations of touring in the body. We're talking cardiovascular here. So obviously we want to support the cardiovascular system with touring. There's also a blood volume regulatory aspect associated with touring as well. So when we begin to think about aspects of blood pressure, touring fits into that conversation as well. And in general we know that with cardiovascular disease, you are going to see an upregulation in oxidation. And there is a higher general concentration of touring in tissues that are under oxidative stress. It was straighting the point that touring has some antioxidative capacity here as well. We do include carnitine in this formulation. The rationale here is is back to some of the points that Joe made in that we're looking to support the mitochondria and ultimately trying to increase the movement of fatty acids, shuttle those fatty acids into the mitochondria to make sure that they have an ongoing fuel source. We do have coq10 in here as well. Probably wouldn't be a complete multi nutrient formula for cardiovascular help if we didn't have coq10. And just a few significant points here is at this is an essential compound for the body. And we can't scint the size the coq10. That process takes place in the inner membrane of the mitochondria. But the primary role here is that coq10 is transferring electrons around to ultimately support ATP production. So it's driving energy production at the end of the day. And its second role is going to be as an antioxidant. And of course we know that when again I mentioned the increase in the oxidative stress that can be associated with cardiovascular disease. And this is why you see when you start to look at different facets of cardiovascular disease and where coq10 has been shown to be beneficial. Whether you're talking about hypertension, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, different cardio myopathy's dyslipidemia, I mean the number of applications for coq10 in these various subsets of cardiovascular disease is pretty extensive. And then this product also includes glangilers. And this is really for those practitioners who are consistently using the glangilers in their practice or who are moving into that. The notion that like supports like, there's always going to be constituents in these tissues that we haven't through research unveiled yet that are going to have beneficial aspects. And having these glangilers including the heart glandular, the bow on heart glandular in here is going to help deliver those constituents that may not be present with traditional supplementation. And ideal patient for this is someone who is who has a family history of cardiovascular disease and is looking to be proactive against this. Maybe they have some other co-morbidities that are exacerbating cardiovascular disease or they're just looking for something that is foundational for other cardiovascular disease types of interventions like we'll be mentioning as we go forward in the rest of this conversation. And a general starting dose on this is going to be around four capsules. Although if someone did need to be more aggressive it could be in the four capsules twice a day range with this generally taking with food. So those are two truly strong foundational products that cardiovascular protocols can be built from. Vascular insert and bio cardio is on forte. Joe I want to bounce back to you now though. I want to come back back to another product Resverasert. And I want you to get into this when it talk about where Resverasert fits into cardiovascular applications. Absolutely. Thank you. One of the things that I want to go off the reservation you're just for a second and talk about enzymes because enzymes are the catalyst for biochemical reactions. And if the reactions move too quickly the body can't keep up and intercellular damage occurs. And in our body there are enzymes that are that are acetylated meaning that they can slow down chemical reactions. It's normally a healthy process but in real life with toxins and age and stress or infection those also slow down the mitochondrial energy sites to the point where optimal energy activities compromise resulting in fatigue, brain fog, the list goes on. Even though the mitochondria impaired the acetylation process still has kind of provides an enzymatic break on energy production factories. So Sir Tuen's and the product Resverasert has Resveratrol and anytime you hear the word Sir Tuen's it's a product that enhances Sir Tuen's. Sir Tuen's work by deacetylating many of the enzymes that slow mitochondrial performance. So Resveratrol is a deacetylating agent. In a sense we're using Resveratrol to remove the acetyl groups so the enzymes function more efficiently. By increasing Sir Tuen activity you can increase or in essence repair mitochondrial function and the energy extra energy allows for cellular repair. And that's really why because Resveratrol turns on or activates Sir Tuen's these enzymes increase mitochondrial function repair and that's why so many different enzyme systems are affected. You should some of the some of the conditions Resveratrol has been shown to have therapeutic value for. Fanny liver elevated glucose and triglycerides. Reduction of inflammation markers like NFKAP-AB. Optimizing insulin resistance. These are adultery effects. The stimulation of nitric oxide. Estrogen reduction. Immune stimulating effects translates into antiviral effects. So Dr Houston and his latest book controlling had blood pressure through nutrition, nutritional supplementation, lifestyle and drugs. Goats gets a little more technical he says and I'm going to quote Resveratrol improves arterial compliance and elasticity and lowers central arterial pressure. Resveratrol increases vasodilation in a dose dependent manner improves endothelial function increases nitric oxide and blocks the effects of angiotensin too. So when Sir Tuen's are activated they promote longevity and health. They also increase telemeters which protect chromosomes. There's actually seven different classes of Sir Tuen's that act as checks and balances in our body. But the ones that have the most benefit are the class surts one and three. And interesting these classes of Sir Tuen's are activated by Resveratrol. In terms of human health, maybe the studies have shown benefit with 250 milligrams although higher doses have been used safely. Corsitan, another flavor flavonoid is an amplifying protective effect on Resveratrol. And Resveratrol, Sir H.P. Biotics Research Corporation contains 250 milligrams of trans-resveratrol in 25 milligrams of Corsitan. Atopha G is a word that we're going to hear a lot about in the future. Many of our listeners are familiar with it but for those of you that aren't, it basically means kind of a self-eating kind of a cellular self-canibalism. And it's really how our body cleanses itself of cellular debris and then recycles it into materials to make more resilient cells. For example, when mitochondria are working properly, their signals are turned on by the body where the mitochondria will be destroyed, the internal parts will be destroyed and then rebuilt to make stronger mitochondrial. mitochondria. So things like Chloric Restriction and intermittent fasting, interval training, SONAS, icercold water, or major atopha G inducers. But in terms of supplements, really the main ones are Resveratrol, I mean Resveratrol, as in Resveratrol, H.P. and E.G.C.G. as in what we just talked about, Vascular Sur. And one final thought, I know I'm kind of going off the reservation here guys, but Resveratrol exists naturally in the transform, which is bioavailable. However, when it's exposed to ultraviolet light, it's in nature and converts to the cis form. And unfortunately, R-Resveratrol products are not equal. Biotics has purchased raw materials that were sold as transformed but found to be cis forms. They've tested and found contamination with mercury in Resveratrol raw materials and they've even discovered a green tea mislabeled and sold as a 50% solution of Resveratrol. And these raw materials were obviously rejected, but that's the beauty of working with a company like Biotics because they're so, and I'm almost safe to say, it's almost neurotic really about quality control. So as clinicians, we can relax and know we're getting really the top quality. We get pharmaceutical grade and consistency in our nutrients. My point is that unless you have an in-house phyto-calusory lab like Biotics, who tests for purity and bioavailable, just might not be getting what you think you're getting. And over the next.
Next decade, we'll hear more about many phytochemicals that can flip on that serotonin switch, but for now, as a drug child, it's kind of like the big dog on the serotonin block. So I'm going to turn it back to you, Dr. Hill. Joe, I appreciate about what you've been sharing through this entire podcast today, is that your comments are focused on cardiovascular disease, not from the perspective of the mainstream narrative. I don't mean that from the standpoint of looking at pharmaceuticals as opposed to neutral pseudocles or contrasting those two things. What I'm, what I'm instead referring to here is that you're highlighting the mechanisms that are linked to non-lippid factors. And many times the conversation does revolve around lipids as a starting point, maybe hypertension secondarily, and we're going to get to those. In fact, we're getting ready to jump into that. But I just wanted to acknowledge that there's so many other mechanisms that play into cardiovascular disease and the bulk of what we have talked about up to this point really are ways to intervene to support those other mechanisms that are equally dysfunctional with patients. Now that being said, as I alluded to here, I do want to transition more to where many individuals think about as a starting point when it comes to cardiovascular disease, which is looking at lipid management. And I know that there's varying thought processes on this and that some really span in the spectrum here from this is a primary focal point for some practitioners to some practitioners don't look to do anything with lipids, even in cases where we're dealing with hyperlipidemia. But I would acknowledge that if you're thinking about at this point in the conversation that this may not be related to your clinic, I'd ask you to hit the pause button on that simply because we want to shift out of a pharmaceutical mindset that lowering lipids is really the only thing we're accomplishing with some of these lipid lowering interventions. That's not the case with the products that we're going to be talking about next. And Julian, do you really kick this conversation off with that introduction? I'm going to ask you to talk about lipids, sir, and share what you unique about that product. Yeah, absolutely. I think Arlene's cholesterol is obviously a topic of most practices and many patients come in as the primary concern for cholesterol. So lipid cert is another really powerful product that biotics has developed in conjunction with Dr. Houston. It is focused on natural cholesterol lowering and it's going to be one of three that we talk about today. So you will have or whomever is listening to this, whatever stance you take, however your patients present, you'll have options to pick whichever is best for you and your patient. But lipid cert is a therapeutic combination of clinically proven nutrients. It includes 450 milligrams of panthethynein, 400 milligrams of plant steriles, 300 milligrams of EGCG green tea extracts, 37.5 milligrams of delta tocatrinols, and then a small amount of phytolins, which is a powerful antioxidant. And that is for a four capsule serving. You'll see listed on the bottle. So Dr. Houston's research, I love talking about Dr. Houston's products, especially when he has such powerful research behind them. The components of lipid cert really have been shown to reduce cholesterol by 30 to 40% while also improving lipid particle sizes, which is really the highest concern for most practitioners at this point, where they're really taking a comprehensive look at cholesterol, not just the numbers, but obviously really diving more into where those particle sizes are and what that means for the patient. The lipid cert will really have a couple different mechanisms. It's going to help to support the healthy production of cholesterol. It's going to help optimize cholesterol excretion via the bile, promote the natural inhibition of cholesterol uptake from the intestines, and also support healthy levels of HDL. So really consider this product as an excellent option to help improve overall lipid numbers, lipid particle sizes, especially where there may be a genetic or familial predisposition and/or for those that really want to look at a cholesterol formula that does not have red beast rice. So it is a product that does have a pretty quick result as far as the research and the study. Dr. Houston used four capsules twice a day in his research. So you can certainly start there or adjust based off of the numbers for the patient, retest in about eight weeks, and then adjust the dosing as the patient progresses and as needed. Jerry, you probably hit the nail on the head when you said, when you made mention about having a product that is backed by research. We are talking about a category of nutraceuticals that probably just because of the popularity of this topic has more research behind it than probably any other category that we'll ultimately end up talking about. And you also mentioned red yeast rice. So lipid syrup, one of the key facts about that that you mentioned is that lipid syrup does not contain red yeast rice for those practitioners that want to avoid that. But we also have a product that is specifically red yeast rice. And I want to talk a little bit about that, but I also want to acknowledge, and I'm going to tie these two together, cardio lipid, which is a second product that is a combination product with red yeast rice. So let me just highlight again, we have lipid syrup, hyperlipidemia product does not contain red yeast rice. And then we have a standalone red yeast rice product. And then the third product is cardio lipid, which again is a multi ingredient formulation that contains red yeast rice. Now let me talk about red yeast rice for just a moment here because this is probably a product that does not have the full appreciation that it should. And what I mean by that is that it is very often just stated as a natural statin because of the role that it shares with HMG-CoA reductase effects as far as decreasing the activity of that enzyme and then inhibiting cholesterol synthesis as a byproduct of that. But that's not a true appreciation for what red yeast rice is. And in fact, we see when we look at clinical evidence that we know that when it comes to statins just as a comparison, that the statistics show that most patients around half of patients don't comply with statin recommendations. They're not refilling their prescriptions. And so we know that that's because of the side effects or the concerns that they have long term. The two primary side effects, and these are not the only ones, but the two primary they're often talked about are muscle damage, red and myelitis, muscle pain, and liver dysfunction. And this is typically seen by patients with elevations and liver enzymes. And when you look at red yeast rice, in fact, there was a study that came out in February of 2024 that actually gave us, it's a metanalysis on red yeast rice. It's targeting the review of these side effects and how prevalent they are and maybe better stated as how lacking the prevalence of these is when it comes to red yeast rice. We see that when it comes to muscle pain, we're looking at eight and a hundred thousand patients are likely to have muscle pain, very insignificant. When you're looking at liver dysfunction, one in 10,000 patients is likely to have liver dysfunction associated with red yeast rice. Is it possible? Yes, it's possible, but is it likely? Is it probable? No, it's not very probable. Most patients do completely fine with red yeast rice. And this is where I think it's important to look at what is different about red yeast rice. And the appreciation for the fact that the HMG-CoA reduction is attributed to monocole and K. But there are multiple monocoleans. In fact, we can acknowledge that as many as 23 monocoleans exist in red yeast rice. In addition to that, we also see compounds that are known by names such as polyketides, steriles, flavonoids, lignins, polysaccharides. These are just some of the bioactive compounds that are there. There's many complementary actions that we can see that this diversity of compounds can't have from reducing oxidation to seeing reductions in the matrix-metalloprodeanases, two and nine. These are driving factors of cardiovascular disease. You see reductions in C-reactive proteins. We see this anti-inflammatory component that's associated with red yeast rice as well. And also when you start looking at the primary effects here, you're looking at it does accomplish a reduction in LDL. But it's also doing it with having a positive effect on HDL as well. And so we're looking at overall a product that is well tolerated. Even for those individuals, the data shows that those individuals that have undergone traditional lipid lowering therapies and did not respond well to those or that would fall into the category known as intolerant to standard therapy. Red yeast rice is an option that many of those individuals can turn to. So that's what a yeast rice in a nutshell there, if you will.
And let's, let's probably this over now into cardio lipid. So cardio lipid is a five ingredient combination product. And this is the newest formulation in our lipid management category. And this is a really unique product because this also in addition to red yeast rice brings in phyto sterols, it brings in garlic, burberry, and delta toca trineinol. Let me touch briefly on each one of those ingredients. And then I want to speak to the dosing, the scaling of dosing that can be used based on what the patient need in reduction of lipids is. And so when we look at the phyto sterols, phyto sterols are going to be, if you're not familiar with those, they're going to be structurally similar to cholesterol. And the primary mechanism is that these are competing with dietary cholesterol for absorption. They're going to modify the metabolism of cholesterol in both intestinal and hepatic cells. They increase the excretion and also have some impact on inhibiting synthesis. And we do see that phyto sterols ironically also have an anti-inflammatory effect. They've been known to reducing or looking six, two-minute-cruses factor alpha, some of these primary cytokins that we often talk about. And when we look at key metrics that are often a focus in clinical practice, things like reduction in APOB, APOE, modification between the ratio of APOB and APOA1, these are all things where phyto sterols show positive outcomes. The next we're going to look at here is going to be garlic. And garlic is best known for its sulfur-containing components. You have things like alinein, allocin, there's some other sulfur-bearing compounds in there. But mechanisms here, again, you've got diversity of mechanism. We're looking at a hypolipidemic effect, hypotensive activity, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory. We can see that whether we're looking at targeting LDL specifically, or we're looking for a total reduction, that garlic is going to be influential and being able to do that. And even when we start to think about some of the comorbidities, such as blood pressure, we can see reductions in both systolic and diastolic along with this, which makes me think back to the point that I alluded to earlier, that if you're only thinking about the application of this category of products, specifically for lipid management, it might be missing the bigger picture with these in that you're really targeting some of the underlying mechanisms that may be drivers for the lipids to elevate in the first place, and these products are going to be able to support that. So part of what you see with that lipid lowering effect is direct, but also part of that is an indirect effect as well. Two other ingredients here, the next many will be familiar with, which is burberine. Burberine is an alkaloid. You can find burberine in multiple different plant species, but the growing evidence base behind this one is very substantiate. In fact, when you look at the number of meta-analyses and just the sheer amount of data behind the ingredients in this product, it is probably unparalleled, as far as anything else that we have. It's just a mountainous amount of data that we have behind this. But back to burberine. Burberine, we know is going to have glycemic effects. It's going to have lipid effects. There's going to be inflammatory anti-inflammatory activity here as well. So when you again start thinking about some of these comorbidities, that's where this really comes into play. And interestingly enough, many of you will note that there is a class of pharmaceuticals for lipid lowering known as PCSK9. And burberine is its primary mechanism, is an inhibition of PCSK9. So we do see support of that mechanism of action as well. And then lastly on this, we want to look at delta-tocotrainol. This is a sub-fraction of vitamin E. And delta-tocotrainol support normal cholesterol synthesis. They do it differently in that. They're doing it via what's known as post-translation suppression of HMG-CoA. So it's a little bit different than what we talk about with red yeast rise. But the point on this is that based on the way that delta-tocotrainol works, is that this is a very complementary compound to red yeast rise. And in fact, when you start to look at things like COQ10, many will think, "Okay, you reduce the HMG-CoA reductase. You're potentially going to reduce CONZOM-Q10 production as well." But yet, when you. We don't see that that effect is as significant as what you get with a statin. But then also to counter that, when you include the delta-tocotrainol, delta-tocotrainol is upregulate the endogenous production of COQ10. So you really mitigate that potential for that side effect. I did say that I would come back and talk about the scaling of the dosing on this. And for. Those individuals that are looking in the realm of around a 15 to 20% reduction, three per day of cardio-lippid would be an ideal range for them. For those individuals that need more around the range of a 30% reduction, the recommendation is three twice a day. And if you need an even more aggressive reduction activity around the 40 to 50% range, we're now thinking three times a day. And this is a very effective product that can generate those types of outcomes that we're looking for. So I know that's a bit of a long-winded explanation, but this is a really powerful product that, I think for those that are interested in lipid lowering effects, you really want to understand how this one works. With that, we talked about lipids. And again, lipids are a primary focus when it comes to cardiovascular disease. But we would be amiss if we didn't also talk about hypertension. And to segue into that, Jillian, I want to bounce back to you. We want to talk about bio-cardiosurbp. Because we do know that blood pressure is something that patients. High blood pressure is a factor of clinical practice and doctor looking for ways to manage that. So talk to us about bio-cardiosurbp. Yeah, thank you. Bio-cardiosurbp is actually one of my favorites in the cardio line. And such an important one, as you mentioned. Another Dr. Mark Houston formulated product as well in conjunction with biotics. And bio-cardiosurbp, as the name suggests, is focused on helping to support normal and healthy blood pressure levels. And it does actually have a patent pending on it and is a combination of seven key micronutrients. The combination of nutrients includes vitamins C, D, B6, biotin, magnesium, and a high dose proprietary blend of 6,150 milligrams of grape seed extract and toerine, which all work synergistically together to optimize endothelial function and a production of nitric oxide. And so, these nutrients, as many know, are very well researched by themselves to support healthy blood pressure. So when you combine them together, you really have an even more powerful formula to help normalize those levels. In fact, again, as I mentioned, with lipid-cert, bio-cardiosurbp, also has an impressive study with it. So the study actually, very impressive and fast results. Dr. Houston did a placebo-controlled human clinical trial of 42 adults with hypertension, 22 participants received one scoop of bio-cardiosurbp and 20 received a placebo. All participants were advised not to make any lifestyle changes throughout the four-week trial period. At the end of those four weeks, those who received the bio-cardiosurbp lowered their systolic blood pressure by an average of 16 and their diastolic blood pressure by an average of 11. Now, when I share that with my practitioners, that really gets their attention. They're excited about that. They may have other formulas that they've seen work, but usually not that quickly and not as sufficiently. So both practitioners and patients really appreciate that bio-cardiosurbp really delivers consistent results. And then also, it's in a very easy-to-mix powder. It's unflavored, unsweetened. It doesn't have any additives added to it. It does take on a nice light grape flavor from the ingredients naturally. And at one scoop, it's ideal for patient compliance. So easy for them to take. They can take it by themselves or mix it with something. And the product itself also can be used as a first-gloin therapy or alongside a prescription if need be. Practitioners will still want to work on any of the additional underlying contributing factors that may be playing a role for that patient, for the high blood pressure. And then the duration is going to vary per patient, but it can be used long-term if needed. And again, just to reiterate that dosing that was used in the study was one scoop daily. Thank you, Jay. I appreciate you taking the time to review that product. And up to this point, we have talked about endothelial function. We've talked about lipid management. You just gave us some strategy.
on how to deal with hypertension. But we probably would not have a complete conversation on cardiovascular health if we didn't also make mention of essential fatty acids. And to round this out here, I want to introduce EFA-SERF Supreme BC. Talk about that in a minute, that BC, if you're not familiar with that. But this is where we consider the essential fatty acid formulation to support cardiovascular health and function. There's a couple of different fatty acid formulations in the biotics line. But this is the one that, when it comes to cardiovascular health, this is the one that we're thinking about. This is a unique and it's a highly concentrated essential fatty acid blend. The combination of EPA, DHA, GLA, as well as some mixed to cough rolls in here, specifically gamma to cough roll, make this again a unique formulation. Let me break down each one of these categories. Let me start with the omega-3s here. And primary mechanisms, as you think about how omega-3s play in the cardiovascular disease, we do see that there is risk reduction with ample inclusion of omega-3s in the diet and through supplementation. But mechanistically, they're working by affecting platelet aggregation, blood viscosity, lowering and affecting levels of fibrinogen, even getting into some of the other cytokine dynamics that are associated with cardiovascular health. They're going to be modulatory of that. And then you couldn't really think about a fatty acid and not tie in membrane fluidity to that because we know that these fatty acids get embedded into the cell membranes and they're going to have direct effects there. To speak specifically, some of the effects that they're going to have, let me talk about each of these fatty acids. So let's start off with EPA. And now I'm going to reduce the production of some of our pro-inflammatory acocinolids, some of these drivers of cardiovascular disease. We see DHA here. And again, that's going to support the cell membranes and it can help have just what Julien was just talking about can be a tie-in to affecting blood pressure. It also has some downstream effects as well in terms of modifying genetic expression around cardiovascular health. And then you transition now over to the omega-6 in the formulation, which is going to be gamma-linolate acid. And this one probably bears a bit more discussion in that gamma-linolate acid. It's omega-6. And there's a lot of talk around omega-6s and these not being desirable. But you have to think about which omega-6 we're talking about and understand that not all omega-6s are created equally here. We're not talking about linoleic acid. We're talking about gamma-linolineic acid. It is an omega-6 here. And it automatically gets elongated into what's known as DGLA, which is short for dihomo gamma-linolineic acid. But this is going to have a direct effect on modulating the acocinolids, the prostaclandins, the leukotriene, some of the platelet-activating factors. This is going to be a fatty acid when consumed in reasonable levels is going to be effective at modulating each one of those. The source on this, and this is in part where the name is derived from, is black-current seed oil. So the BC towards the end of the name is related to black-current. But black-current seed is one of the richest sources of GLA, which is one of the reasons that it's used. But in addition to that, it's also very high in polyphenolic compounds, which are going to have significant antioxidant activity and beyond. And they're going to directly affect lipid activity and have a proper inflammatory response. And the data shows that they can generate these outcomes in as short as six weeks is when we could expect a seed app. The last ingredient that I'll speak to briefly here is going to be gamma-to-coffrol, which is one of the vitamin E fractions. It has natural erratic activity. So think about that as blood volume regulating activity there. It's also going to support healthy glucose and insulin levels, which we would acknowledge are some of the comorbidities that are associated with cardiovascular disease. So EFA-serve Supreme BC is the product that we're looking at here. And your dosing on this is going to be three capsules twice a day. And again, you're in a definitely therapeutic ranges of these fatty acids. And if someone is more in a maintenance mode, they can reduce that dose down to half, so three per day, to maintain the improvement that they've seen, but they can scale it up as necessary. The collection of products, the practitioner has the ability to target, or to target with, and the most relevant need for the patient in this category remains the biggest threat to the health of the population.
