Well hello world Haven't done one of these in a hot minute and I have been missing it I don't know if you've been missing me, but I have been missing doing this. I love it And I have a pretty good story to share or maybe the start of a story to share One more lap one more life One more lap one more life So I'm in my car and I am driving to Good Ridge, Minnesota It is nearly to the border of Canada It is a small town and I say small population 101 What might be it you ask I am driving up there for? For a backyard ultra if you are not familiar with a backyard ultra here is the premise The race will start at seven o'clock on Friday night You have exactly one hour to run 4.176 something miles If you run it in 45 minutes, you get a 15-minute break If you run it in 59 minutes, you get a one-minute break, but every hour on the hour You go again you have to be in the starting corral between basically two lines and When they say go when the clock hits the top of the hour you start You do this over and over and over again with an undetermined amount of time and distance until there is only one person left It is a last man standing race Everyone else gets the coveted did not finish DNF Why what I want to do this I've done these before I've done two of these before But last year about a month maybe actually 13 months ago almost to the day, maybe a little less I drove my car from Kansas City to Alaska for the great Fourth of July car launch where I launched my car off a cliff in an effort to raise awareness for artists Helping the homeless and raise some money and at the same time Collect these little posted notes with burdens and Presentments and fears and anxieties that people were ready to get rid of and they wanted to launch off the cliff It was one of the best experiences of my life Absolutely would not change a minute of it incredible experience raised, you know, a fair bit of money Which is cool raised a lot of awareness also cool So I thought I like these things. This is kind of fun. It's it's a little bit different Seems like people get engaged with it. So I thought what could I do this time? And so this time I am running Each lap to raise awareness for the individuals and residents who are trying to change their lives through our program and Other services that we help link them to So you can go on to our face or on to our website www.ah.org You can google artists helping the homeless if you go to our page and you click on fundraisers You will see one more lap One more life and a page where you can choose to just go ahead and donate You can find my Instagram feed to follow along there if you want to go Just have fun with the race while I'm in it You can pledge to give a certain amount per lap a dollar or a lap If I run 24 laps that would be a hundred miles You could do two dollars a lap. You could do a flat donation. You could cap the amount you want to give per lap There's lots of different options and really While yes, I absolutely want to raise money for artists helping the homeless. That's not really what it's all about What I really want you to do is that I want you to go online and learn about artists helping the homeless See what we do find out about the guys we serve the difficulties they face the things that we do the people that have made Artists helping the homeless find out about car woo our founder He's got an incredible story. He's an incredible human being. He's 70 some years old. He works 70 hours a week today He will work probably 10 or 12 hours a day So for me to get uncomfortable for maybe 24 36 48 hours. I don't know how long this is gonna last That's nothing. It's nothing compared to what? The people that we work with what they face It's nothing. I am so Fortunate that I even have the opportunity to do something like this and Where it all seems to come full circle. I am now driving a 2010 Honda Fit Gonna drive this thing for another 250,000 miles try to get 400,000 on this bad boy and who knows maybe I'll launch this off a cliff in 10 years. Let's hope But anyway, I'm excited Got a long drive ahead of me.
