The podcast features a lively and heartfelt conversation centered on upcoming travel adventures, including trips to London, Barcelona, and Napa, with the hosts expressing excitement about cultural exploration, food, and new experiences. A major highlight is the coverage of Olivia Rodrigo’s upcoming all-women festival, Daisy Chain Fields, which celebrates music and women’s empowerment through its charitable proceeds and diverse lineup of artists. The hosts also dive into the drama of the Real Housewives of Rhode Island reunion, where personal alliances, feuds, and hidden secrets create intense emotional moments. They address the growing speculation around Mika and Josh Houston’s off-screen relationship, noting it as a light, non-dramatic development given Josh’s departure from the show. The episode also explores the nuances of public relationships, such as Kiki Palmer’s casual, low-pressure comments about her connection with Shawn Evans. Throughout, the tone balances personal anecdotes with broader themes of community, authenticity, and joy—whether through music, travel, or friendship—offering a fun and reflective look at how modern audiences connect across shared experiences. The discussion underscores the value of curiosity, transparency, and meaningful interactions in both personal and social contexts.

We're going, we're going on a trip right now. Yeah, speaking of travel, we are jetted off to London right after we record NOAA keeps looking at me and just burst out laughing because he told me this hat looks stupid. And well, you asked, this is how it looks stupid and I said, for sure. And then I was like, yeah, yeah, I said, this is how it looks stupid. He said, he starts cracking up and he goes, yeah, actually, it does. And then I decided you also didn't have it fully on your head when he first looked. So you had it really loose. It looks silly. It looks silly, but I said, you know what, I'm actually going to keep it on because if it's going to make you laugh and it's going to bring joy to that face, then I'm going to keep this hat on if it looks stupid. It might just be something about the material. It's like sitting weird. I kind of look like I just like threw on an outfit as I'm, I'm running out of the house to do errands. Well, we're going to the airport. Right, but like nothing is matching current. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This hat does not match the rest of this outfit. Well, yeah, like a white thing on your neck. Navy and Navy. What are you talking about a white thing on my leg? Oh, my God. It's a feather on my leg. Oh, come on. He's like, he has a white shirt on your pants. He's just stealing. And I'm custing. And I'm letting it happen. Yeah, I'm letting it happen. Anyway, he's giggling at you. Yeah, that's fine. That actually makes me happy. I feel like, you know what, if you're laughing, Ben, I'm laughing. We are about to go to London, though. How are we feeling? I'm really excited. We're going to have a very fun trip. And it kind of, you know, rolls into all some time off. The Fourth of July week, the office is closed here. So I'm going from London to Barcelona for a few days. Barcelona, Italy. Me and up with the fam. Nice. Going to have a good time. Everybody's coming. So fun. We're really fun. We only sadly only have like one day of all of us. Just the way the timing goes. You know, they got the store on the vineyard now. It's July 4th, prime time. They got to have somebody up there. So JB's going back. So to man, the store for such a popular time to be on Martha's Vineyard, which is very fair. And then home, but Joe's meeting me in Barcelona. So I'm really excited. It's another place I've never been. Never been to Spain. Cross and two off my list, London and Barcelona. So I'm very excited about this trip. Barcelona, I just just need about those ribs. That's not what I would think about. Well, she had life-changing ribs. I remember she talked about my honeymoon. I had life-changing ribs. And, you know, a lot of our listeners have gone to have those ribs. And they can confirm. They message me. They tag me. They say these ribs really are life-changing. And so I'm very excited for you. I'm very excited as well. I'm looking forward to eating a lot in Barcelona. Really everywhere. There's also beautiful architecture in Barcelona, museums, so many great sites to see. Right, it's familiar. It's finally done. Yes, it is. Yeah, it is. They're going to see it. Are you going to go inside and everything? I would like to. You've got to go inside and watch us. Yeah, I would definitely like to. I haven't been the best with being on top of planning things for our time. Like, it's not totally scheduled out, but that's kind of just the way I. That's kind of just the way I go. Right, but with these things, they kind of book out. No, I know. I know. But I don't know. That's why I said I would like to. You would like to. Yeah, you would like to. But we'll see. There are some other great houses you can see in Barcelona. I'll send some wrecks. We're doing a little street tour, like a walking tour, food tour, wine combo with some of the sites. Yeah, because I haven't seen Joe's been before. But the last time he was there was like his, I think right after he graduated college on his boys trip. A little different, a little different vibe. So it's going to be a very different vibe. And yeah, I'm about to turn into a little Spanish marinated olive. Yeah, those are my favorite. I'm going to eat a thousand of them. Just wait. So good. And Chovies. Ooh, ooh, ooh, look out. Oh my god, it's just the best food. I'm just being a, just the best food. I'm really, really, really so excited for that. But yeah, it's going to be fun. And we're going to be in London together. Yes, cannot wait to go to London. We're going to see Harry. Cannot wait. Oh my god, I'm so excited. I had a little, I had a little change of plans. We were going to go to London. And well, we are going to London. Yes. And from London, we were going to go somewhere else in Europe, Matt and I. But I am shooting something cool in LA. Next week, which will be out later in the summer. Yeah. And I can't really talk about it right now. But it's very exciting. It's very cool. I know what it is. Yes. Yes. And yeah. Oh, well fine. [LAUGHTER] Very exciting, though. So I'm going to go to LA at the beginning of the week. And then Matt and I are going to go to Napa in California. So we're going to stay in California, experience the wine century. That's really amazing. I really want to go to Napa in California. Oh, I gotta give you a restaurant wreck that me and Trent went. Oh, really? And Napa, yeah. Send it my way. It was really good. Do you remember the name? I'll talk your head. No. But the winery that we went to, the person there told us to go there. Oh, really? OK, send it to me. Yeah, I'm really excited because I've never gone to California for any sort of vacation. I've only been for work purposes. Yeah. So to kind of-- And like in the LA area. Yeah, only ever in LA or San Diego we've been. But never, never over there. For leisure. Yeah, so I'm really excited about that. It's like parlay right into there. And oh, it's just going to be-- I just can't wait to just soak in the wine country in the spa. Wherever we are, we'll be sipping on some vina. Yeah, of course. And some great food. I started getting really nervous, though, about our major time difference. Oh, yeah. Because you'll be West Coast. I will be nine hours behind you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We probably won't be communicating that much. No, we definitely won't be. Which will be a change of pace. It will. But there'll just be some hours where we'll have to catch up. Yeah, we'll have some catching up time. When you're getting up. And like my day is kind of winding down. Right, right. Actually, when you're waking up and it's like-- see us the time for me. I feel like that'll allow us to line up. That's a good time to catch up. Yes, that's a real-- I really was like, oh, my god. The time difference is going to be so-- Oh. [LAUGHTER] Oh, man. No, that is-- what will have London? Yes. I can't wait. We're going to have so much fun. Hopefully my itinerary lives up to the high. No, I'm sorry. I think it will. And-- Are you going back to your favorite restaurant? No. So my favorite restaurant in London is the Barbaray. I love the Barbaray in Common Garden, specifically in Niels Yard, which I'm still going to take you to Niels Yard, because it's so freaking cute. But we're not going to go to the Barbaray because-- The reservation times. The reservation times weren't great. And-- I'm not going to go to the Barbaray. But no, I replaced it for Kudu, which I-- That's my favorite one. Yes. So I'm very excited to go to Kudu. And we're going to go to Trishna, which is a very popular Indian restaurant there. Sister Restaurant to Jimkana, which is their famous Indian restaurant. And Dishoum is also widely known there. But I wanted to get the best for my girl. So, look, I am along for the ride.
I'd put me on that double-decker bus and Rea's driving, you know? - Yes, 'cause we won't be going on an actual double-decker bus, but I'll be driving it. - So we're walking over there. - No, you should, though. - The idea of it is, you know, we're gonna do the two, we're gonna walk around a lot, but that is the idea. And also I'm really excited because I love Indian food and you're gonna be venturing into it. And I think London has really amazing Indian food. So I'm very excited about that. And yeah, I will be missing the barbary deeply. And I think friend would love the barbary, like the whole vibe of it. - I'll put it on the itinerary for our family trip. - Our family trip, our family trip, in October. - Yeah, it's such a cool place, right? It's like a bar seating. - I sent Noah there. - Yeah, I was very surprised when I walked in 'cause I was like, whoa, this is like intimate. - Yeah. - But it's very cool. - I also kind of put Noah in a tough spot 'cause I was like, I was like, there's, um, - This was, I knew what was gonna happen when you told me and I still did it for you. - I was like, there's a woman there that when you ask her to do shots, she'll do a shot with you. - Well, you were like, ask her to do a shot, she'll do a shot with you. - And it happened to me all, I've been there three times, this restaurant, all three times. She was there and we did, we did the shot. - I was like, she's gonna remember you, like I'm sure there's a lot of-- - No, no, I didn't say she was gonna remember me, but I was like, yeah, I saw her do it to shot lady. - With other people, so she seemed to be. - I think you said she was gonna remember. - No, no, I didn't say, I didn't say she would remember me. I'm just saying she, it's like a party trick. She remember, like, this is, she does this with people. That's kind of like the vibe. And Noah asked and she was like-- - She was like, get the rest of it. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Well, I didn't know, I was just like, there's multiple women there. So I was like, she looks like she could be the one. So then I asked her, I'm like, hey, my friend said, she did shots with you, like on New Year, and she was like, oh, that, that wasn't me. (laughs) But then he texted me and said there was another woman doing a shot. - Oh, so that's a wrong person. - Maybe, I mean, I definitely asked the wrong person, but I wasn't gonna do it again. - Kind of set him up for failure though. - No, definitely asked, definitely asked, we'll definitely do it. And look, and you know, I, that's so funny. And I know everybody really cares about where we're landing on the Harris House concert outfit. But I went more casual. I'm gonna be very excited about it. - That's a huge relief. Because you texted Kelly and I last night and said what shoes are wearing. - Yeah, what shoes are going in the bag? - I couldn't do it. - Kelly sent full pumps, still a lot of those. And honestly, her sending that helped me. Because I saw that shoe and went, oh, not like, no, I can't do that. So that's straight me in the direction. That's, that's, show me where my heart really was laying. Like, where, where, what kind of shoe do I wanna wear? It's gonna be a sneaker for sure. - I'll be in sneakers. I packed my cheetah print ones just in case I want to be funky. - That's a good call. Yeah. - Just in case I want to go. - I just want pretty neutral. But I just brought like a little, like a sequence. You know what I remembered I had was, remember that Harry Styles t-shirt that was the collab design with the guy from Gucci? I forgot I had that. - Did you pack it? - I packed, I've, I've really had it. I had it. I was going through my t-shirt bin, like my, of all the freaking, I have so many t-shirts and merch. It's all merch. I found it, I found a Harry Styles live on tour from 2018, which was when I went for, I was like this first album. And, and then this one. But I was like, ooh, look here with the skirt. This is perfect. - That's so sick. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - That's such a good idea. - I felt good about it. And that's the outfit. Mine will be left up to whatever I find in London. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. The shirt, I packed. - Okay. - I packed what I was going to wear originally. - Yeah. - You know what? - I'm going full comfort now. - I went to Camden Market when I went to London a couple of months ago. And they had like a million Harry Styles shirts. Like very cool like. - Camden Market has extremely cool stuff. So I feel like there could be some Harry Styles merch. Good merch in there. - I think that just because they know that this is going on right now, that a lot of stores will be selling. - It was all like a new too, like the new album. - Yeah, yeah. - Oh, that's a good idea. - You know what I'm sad about? I was like, we just miss the times that England's playing in the World Cup. - I thought you were there. - No, they played Tuesday night in Saturday night. - They played Tuesday night in Saturday night and we arrive Wednesday morning and leave Saturday morning. - Damn. - So, quite literally just miss it, which sucks. - We live out when you're like in Spain or no. And it doesn't line up with the dates either, I know. I have to go back and look. It would be so fun. - What's it? - But the thing with England is or London, like any pub you go to, there's still be all watching World Cup, no matter what. - No, totally, but it's not. - It's not England. - England, it's yeah. - But they still have a great time. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - It's all scheduled. - Did you see they're selling water for half price in Wembley because of how hot it is? - Oh my god. - That's nice. - That is nice. - Although I did see people also saying that you couldn't just give us free water. - That's also very good. - Also a good point. - If only Harry would let up on that damn budget. - You're not in the like G.A, right? - No. - No. - Yeah, that would be tough. - We're setters. - We're setters. - We're setters. - We need to see. - When we did the fine line. - Yeah, it was fun, that was fun. - It was fun, but also scary. - Certain things I can do if we were on a setter. - You know, I'll stand. - Probably the entire time. - Yeah, but we like to have the option of having a seat. - Especially that hot. - Are you like closest? - I mean, Wendy's huge, like what you know. - I don't know, I'll find out when I get there. - You don't know where your tickets are. - No, we do, but I don't know. - We know. - I don't know the section. - I've never been to Wembley, I don't even know what the layout is. - I don't know, like side stage or-- - No, there's no side stage. She's running around all over the process. - That's fantastic. - No, we're like in the middle, like facing. - Yeah, I don't know. - Like facing directly on straight. - It's whatever the first level of seats are. - Yeah. - So we'll find out what we got just like a seat's knob. - I think I've only ever been to, oh no, that's actually two. I was gonna say I've only been to one stadium concert, but I've been to two, Elton John and the Jonas Brothers. - The Jonas, oh yeah. - I met life both right in my life. - Yeah. I've been to a few. I don't even think I can remember. Lots of multiple cold play. - It's interesting speaking in the world of top. - It's pristine. - Have to cover all the sponsors at every stadium. They can't call it what the stadium is. - Yeah, I pay. - They're not paying for that kind of advertisement. - I also, they're like taping, like everything. Like the ketchup bottle is mustered, they can't show anything. - I saw, did you see that tweet of the pictures of the stadiums, the seats at Gillette, that there was like tape over every seat 'cause the seats say Gillette. - Really? That's, imagine how much time that I took. - That's a lot of time. - It was like, wow, somebody had to cover 60,000 seats with tape, it was like, but I was laughing because, there was one reply that was like, or 60,000 people each had one piece of tape. - Hey, that could work out too. - That's just what, they can't. - That's what you walk in, please put this on. - Did you guys see the ranch debacle that they're having? - Yeah, I was confused. - The TSA had to put out a warning, like if you're gonna be bringing a ranch back, you need to check. - But why are you bringing a ranch back? - Because they don't have a ranch. - Ranch doesn't exist over there, so people are coming for games and they're trying ranch, they're like this is amazing. - You didn't see the tweets? - No, I just love the girl being like, there's not all ranch is the same? - Wait, I'm confused, there's no ranch in Europe. - I don't think they use ranch dressing for anything. - That's so strange. - Well, there's a lot of things that we have here that they don't, or they don't have that. - We don't have ketchup potato chips, but they do. - But they have ketchup over there, like like, you would think that they'd have ranch available, or they can just order it online. - I don't know, it's not a thing. - The diet coax is not a thing over there. - Yeah. - Is it not? - They only have coax here. - Yeah, yeah. - You know, so there's, but they are trying to smuggle it back, and they're like, no, you gotta put in your check backs. - Yeah. - You got that liquid ounces, you know? - Actually hilarious that everyone just wants the ranch. (laughing) It's a funny thing for like, if you're working TSA and be like, this damn ranch again. - I know. I do love seeing all the fans. It's been fun watching everybody in their environments. The whole Norwegian row, the row, that they were all doing in the stadium was sick. Yeah, but you see them in Matt Life yesterday? - Uh, no, I don't think so. - Yeah, they were all doing it coordinated in the seats. It was really cool. - Yeah, it was. - They have really cool. - They're like, crowd, chance, then what do you do here? - Well, yeah, it's not, you know, not our top sport. - No, I just feel like in general, like. - Oh, in general, for sure. - Like, we're doing the wave, like that's all we got. - Yeah, yeah, no, no, yeah, we got nothing. - Yeah. - Do you do the wave? - No, remember when I went to the Lady Gaga concert and they were doing the wave and I was like, I'm not doing the wave at the Lady Gaga concert. Stephanie, would it want this? - It really depends on how I'm feeling. - It depends, I think, where you are. - Yeah, it depends on when the wave catches me. - I'm not gonna be an ass lot at a ballgame and not do the wave when everyone else is doing it. - Yeah. - But there's a time and place. No waves at a Lady Gaga concert. - I just saw Larry Davis and Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Kimmel. - I remember that Paul McCartney concert that all the A-listers went to. And he was like, during Hey Jude, I looked around. Everyone was singing Hey Jude except for one person and it was Larry Davis and he's like, it was so funny. He's like, I'm not na, na, na. Like, he's like, why did he, like, why do you have to na, na, na, na? - You know what, he's, that's fairly good. - Yeah, because I saw you, Jimmy. You didn't know.
not look cool. (laughing) If I saw Larry David, Nana and I, I would think that's out of place. Yeah, and you would think that for sure. But also, that's gotta be one of the hardest songs to not sing along too. You're like, you're really, you're going out of your way. You're not, Nana, Nana. Nana, Nana, like I want to do it right now. Yeah, you said people are swaying, that's how you do it. It's a beautiful thing when everyone's joined in together. Seriously. But if Larry was doing it, it would feel odd to me. I can't. I couldn't see him. I'm excited, his show starts, it comes out on Friday. Yeah, I'm very excited. He's got a show coming out. Yes. He had a one with Barack Obama. There's so many different John Hams in it. It was announced a while ago. As I've seen, not watched. I'm really thinking about this. It's like the American history, like, like, is he in it? He's, it's him. It looks like he's just, but like, yeah, he worked different areas. Orner with the Obama's. I think Obama's production company. Yeah. What's it coming out on? HBO. Larry David Newshow, life Larry in the pursuit of unhappiness. It's a seven episode limited historical sketch comedy series. Yeah. It's not really a single bell. I don't think I saw this at all. Oh, really? Wow. That sounds great though. Yeah. Exactly to produce by Larry David and Barack and Michelle Obama. Mm-hmm. That's it. Those are the things. Well, there's Jeff Schaefer. Like, right now. There's other names. Yeah. It was announced, I think, like, probably within the last year. I was curious about that. Maybe I just don't remember. Yeah. It looks like she's very excited. Yeah. I'm like, like, 200 years. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It looks like it's going to be really good. All right. Let's get into the rest of the show. We are going to be talking about the Real Housewives of Rhode Island reunion. Great. First reunion. Wow. Mika Abdala and Josh Houston from off campus. I think they might be dating. I think these two might be dating. Can you believe it? Olivia Rodrigo announced her first festival called the daisy chain fields. And Kiki Palmer addresses where she stands with John Evans. And we have a great interview with Supergirl herself, Millie Alcoxill. Let's get into it. Hey, guys, we're going to take a quick break and we will be right back. Still blue coffees. Real Housewives of Rhode Island, apparently, they're calling it worry. Yeah, these ladies are spectacular. Some might say some of the best people we've been introduced to on television and quite some time. Yeah, it really in terms of entertainers, shock value, pure absurdity because these are not real life people, right? And yet they are yet. And you know what it is? And I think this is where the genius comes from. It's because it seems to be such a tight knit community up there in Rhode Island. You're taking, I'm not like, it's not a small town by any means, but you're taking the idea of like, small town drama and blowing it up. Do you know how you hear gossip from your hometown or gossip, everybody knows about it. Everybody's heard some version of the story. There's probably some people have some facts, some people don't, but it reaches everyone. That's how it feels like it is with Rhode Island where they all hear the gossip. They all hear the story. It's like the situation with Rosie and whatever this code to wasn't the code to you see being with a student perhaps, but they all are different versions of that story. And it comes across everyone's desk. No one's like, I didn't hear that one. Everyone does. And then you blow it up. There's just so much shit to unravel. There's so much unravel and there are people fighting that I didn't even know how to prom with each other to begin with so Joe, Ellen and Liz really go out each other in this reunion. But I thought that they were good friends. Well, towards the end of the season, they got rocky, they got rocky. I want to say this, yeah. And I actually mean this in a very nice way. Ashley, I does not belong on this show. Oh, I disagree. I don't think that she belongs on this show. But not in a mean way, like she is not insane, like these people, but I think you made a sane person on the cast. Like I don't think you can go full insane. I originally thought that, but I don't even feel like she's got a little bit of it, you know what I'm saying? Like, and it's not, no, you mean you're, I mean, well, you think she's too normal. Yes, I don't and I think it's, it's not a fit because the rest of them are so crazy. Yeah. Well, just the things that fly out of their mouths and they do have these, these histories together and everything that's going on, but I think that's a big part of it probably as well. Yeah, because there's like, it comes from a deeper place when they get mad at each other. Because they're not going to get mad at Asher, Asher's not going to get mad at them the same way because it's like, we've known each other for not enough time. When Joellen's like, you know, you know, me or whatever, with Alicia, with Alicia, it's like, I'm known Alicia. She was born. Like it's like, okay, we're going to wait, you know, years and years and years of all this. But Liz is not, is not a woman I would want on my bad side. No. I want to be on her bad side, I mean, I actually don't want to be on any of their bad sides to be completely honest, but I, but Liz the most because it really feels like she, she can just, it just flips. And then she's like, oh, yeah, right, you've immediately then gone on to the other side. They, uh, between Rosie and Kelsey, I mean, Rosie just clears Kelsey with the insults. Like, like when she called her boyfriends, other girlfriend, her coworker, like they, these, it's, I'm sorry. Yeah. You know what? She kind of gets the dingers out there. She does. She definitely does. I was cracking up at Andy Cohen being like, uh, joking about how when the cast was first announced, everyone thought they all looked alike. And he was saying that he, even he himself was struggling to keep Rosie and Kelsey separate. And because they don't really vibe with each other, it was just funny to see them on the couch, be like, I don't see it. I don't see it. We don't look like each other at all. And I actually don't, I actually don't think those two look like each other. I think others look more similar than, than, than they do, but they all have a similar. I wonder if they'll throw a blonde on this cast. Right. Just mix it up a little bit, maybe, maybe Liz or Alicia will get more highlights. Yeah. Yeah. But Alicia is just, is just a gift. She really is fantastic. I love. I love. She's leaning into it. Yeah. I love everything that comes out of her mouth. I love it. It's just like the, the levels that were already, the levels of the fight they were already getting at, like, Liz saying that they were voice noting and they were setting Liz up in the car. And Alicia was going to have this breakdown. It was all planned. And she's like, I serve an Academy Award, a wad, a wad, and Academy Award. I need a crack off. Love crack is. Exactly. She, her saying that she didn't know that that was going to pick up, but then using it during the reunion. Like, she knows that, yeah, that's what people want to hear. She just has such an unbelievable accent. It's like nothing I've ever heard before. And she also mentioned how, like, you don't realize your personality until you watch it on TV. So she's not even realizing that she's doing these things until she watches it, which this start of the reunion is so good. Rula, Rula, the, the way she was going after Joe Ellen. Yeah. And then Joe Ellen saying she was going to hit her. What do you think Rula was getting at? She was kind of, it's kind of seemed like she was just thrown it back at Joe Ellen when he was simulating Joe Ellen, was up to no good. Well, here's the thing that they seem to do it. It just, it just appears that if Alice fails, it's like throw at them that they're cheating on their spouse. Like, it's like, oh, well, you are doing something bad too. I don't know why Rula is going through, going to extreme lengths to protect her cheating husband. What's going on? I don't know what's going on with this fucking Brian guy. He is bad news. He's going, like, she's fighting with Joe Ellen about something that she should be on Joe Ellen's side about when it comes to the cheating husband. I know. And even her saying, like, when they took their break and she was like, Andy, I have the, the receipts of, you know, his surgery.
schedule that day that they say the video was, was filmed. And Joelle and was like, that could be fake. It could totally be AI. And it absolutely could. I wouldn't put anything past this guy, Brian, because he's talking about him injecting himself with the things he's got in his office. And like, he was like, maybe I'm giving myself too many hormones and acting up. I don't know what he's doing. He's one of those people that's used to be like the biohacking. But like, when they have access to everything, then they're just starting to use everything. And you're, you're, he's going to start looking real weird. He's like the beauty. Yes. Yep. Where they're trying every, every treatment, every this, that, whatever. I mean, he's tracking her car. He's doing all these things. And she's still defending him for some reason. It blows my mind. I, and, and Joelle, I actually don't blame Joelle on the situation at all, because it's like, I don't know how you don't want to know that this is going on. And Joelle knows the mistress. What's a girl to do? I don't understand this whole thing at all. And I don't get why Rula is like, you would think she would just be yelling at her husband, but instead she's spending her time yelling at Joelle. I also love that we're already fighting about airtime. She's like, you got a big mouth now. You've been on two episodes. Yeah. Cause they were having so much, so many issues with, with the husband, I think wanting to film and all these things that she like wasn't in it in the show, despite having such a big controversy that did land her in the second chair, which was interesting. That is very interesting because she really was not on the show. And if anything, it was like everybody was talking about her, but she was never there. And the drama is good. Right. So I guess that's pretty fair. No, because you know that she's going to bring the heat when it comes to the real. And it did feel like they tried to match everybody with, like if they were having issues with anybody, it's like, oh, Rosie and Kelsey, to all in a Rula, Liz and Alicia, despite seeming to be fine now, but they had their little right blow up too. I kind of loved them like seemingly making up. They'll be like, whenever I'm around to, I just want to laugh. You know, like, yeah. And you know, it's hard not to just want to have a good time. Yep. It's great. That's why they're also great too because it goes from one second of them being like, you're the worst. I hate you to like, oh, I don't really mean that let's be friends. You know, they bounce back quick from those conversations. So it works. I even felt it with Liz and Joellen. It was like, Joellen's like, oh, you know, I love you. And they're like, oh, yeah. And then Liz is looking at Joellen. Like you're, you're a, you're a dark person. And you're like, whoa, what's happening? Great. You love me. You think I'm a dark person. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Crazy. But great. Great first part of the reunion. Can't wait for the next one. Nair is the award-winning number one hair removal brand. They played Ali and Justin in Paris, canoeing, and now this comes right off the heels of the announcement of Mika and her fiance splitting up. Now listen, hot people didn't hot people. A little show man's when he's not even on the show anymore. Yeah, yeah, this is perfect to me. He's not even on the show anymore. We don't have to worry about them dating and breaking up and ruining the chemistry of the show, because he's no longer on the show. And their characters aren't together. You know, which also is great. They don't have to do that issue. Noah sent this into our group. Chan Road tales all this time. And you know what? Fair. Fair comment to make. I wasn't even surprised when I saw it. No, nobody was. No, but it did give me a tingle because I went, ooh, that's a hot couple. It is a hot couple. The pictures that people are posting of Mika, her fiance, and Josh all sitting with each other like at dinner and stuff. You know, those are, those are recirculating. Yeah, yeah, right, right, right, right. But I feel like it's just tagging along while she was filming last summer. Yeah. And you know, why? And any, you know. And you know what? Sometimes friends really do become lovers. And in this case, seems to be, you know, you know what? Like it's, here's the thing. Have fun, you two. Yeah. Have fun. You're off a fresh hot show. People are loving you guys. Josh isn't even on the show anymore. Have some fun. Exactly. And you two hoties. She deserves it from, and it really, I know whatever they can, they can put whatever they want out to the press and whatever statements they want to make. But it really did seem like it wasn't a crazy dramatic breakup. Yeah. That little tattoo rat. No, I'm kidding. It did. It's a, no, I don't know. It could be like, that could be all bullshit, right? It seemed as if they had perhaps broken up prior to what it all, I mean, it did, they did break up prior to it being announced. It's like, I think they had been broken up for a while already to know where like it doesn't feel as fast as it comes across in the news because it's like, oh, the headlines of her and this guy breaking up and the podcast clip and all that, resurfacing, resurfacing wasn't that long ago, but the actual breakup was longer ago. Right. And I feel like when they did announce it, it was like, oh, by the way, like they're not together anymore. Like it wasn't like a this just happened. Yeah. They hurt people. People keep speculating and like, yes, they are broken up. Right. So fair. You go for it. And after seeing that podcast clip of the two of them, you know what, her fiance, he didn't seem like a night shining armor. He's got, it seemed kind of like a douchebag. And maybe that was their banter. And we don't know him for sure. Yeah. But it wasn't a good little view that we had. No, no, but you, Josh, he's nice to look at. Is he an Australian or British? He's Australian Australian. Yeah. Another added plus. He's not on the next season, right? No. I thought I saw. Yeah. No, he's not. And we're going to just praise by that. Why? Before Rhea takes her hat off and throws it at you. I said it four times. She probably said at least four to five times of like, have your fun. I passionately was like, this is great because he's not on the show. Most of all declarations, multiple times. And then he said, he's not on the show anymore, right? I'm going to cut that. No, don't, don't cut it. You got to keep that in. Don't, do not cut that. But yeah, no, he's not on the show anymore. Can you believe it? Just in case anyone else was like, maybe someone was doing their laundry and got this. Yeah. I just run to throw it in their room. That's true. Double down. He is not on the season. However, it is not out of the question for him to make a return at some point, I believe. That perhaps, you know, they, depending on how wide they build this universe, maybe Justin comes back in some way. Could be. Yeah. Moving on, Olivia Rodrigo announced her new festival. It's an all women festival, Daisy chain field. Very exciting, very fun. It's happening in Irvine, California. It'll be in August, which is quick turnaround. It is a festival now. It is a quick turnaround. It's going to be like for announcing a festival. August 29th, Great Park. And these are the special guests, Bikini Kill, Chapel Rone, Dyspitz, Do Chi Eli, garbage, Katzai, Mitski, not for radio, Olivia Rodrigo, quiet light, Rachel Chinaree, Santa Gold, the breeders, Karen O, Sarah McLaughlin, and Stevie Nex. This seems like so much fun. I love the marketing for it. So there was discussion after this was announced, the people are like, okay, so this is basically a little fair. Like everyone was like, this is that, this is that, this is that, which was founded by Sarah McLaughlin, but Sarah McLaughlin is in this festival. Yeah. And she wanted Olivia Rodrigo to do this. Yeah, I think it's great. It's a, I actually listened to Sarah McLaughlin was on good hang, maybe like a couple months ago. Great interview, because I didn't know too much about her. I think I knew people remember I think everyone kind of just thinks of the one thing. Yeah. And it's like, it's like unfortunate when your name is attached to like the ASPCA commercial, right? One of the saddest things of all time and commercials of all time. We played it at almost everyone of our live shows when we did the, the intro, what, what, now I'm blanking. No, when Greg missed that. We did that too, but we did it when you told a story about chicken rea dying. Chicken rea dying. Yes.
- All right, P. - Yeah, it's just one of those songs, you know? So, but it makes a lot of sense for them to all work on this together. I feel like it's a way of even, you know, passing the torch to a younger generation. Olivia wrote, "Truly never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all. I've had a dream of doing this festival for years and I'm so ecstatic as finally coming true." Daisy Chainfields features an all-women lineup and 100% of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls. The lineup is truly insane and full of my heroes and friends. I firmly believe that joy, community, and music can be the drivers of meaningful change. I'm hopeful this festival will be just that. I absolutely cannot wait to scream and dance this thing with you guys August 29th. - That's heck yeah. - It's amazing, it's for a great cause. Incredible cause. I love that she stated that all the proceeds are going to advocating for women and girls everywhere to help out. I feel like it's such an amazing thing. It's so fun. I can't think of anything more joyful than jumping up and down and dancing and screaming and singing with your girlfriends and for them to be on stage just having a blast as well. I think this is awesome and I think it's a really great thing for Olivia to do and be a part of and kind of take that on now. - Yeah, I feel like she has really done a great job at such a young age of advocating for what she believes in, which is great, and setting a great example for young girls. There's a lot of names on this list. I got a Google. 10,000 people. - What? - The capacity. - Oh, 10,000 people. - It's pretty small. - Yeah, I think that's a first time and they're also announcing it two months before it's happening. - Yeah, additional park space will be built to support and expand the capacity of up to 45,000. - Oh, that's big. That's awesome. - There you go. But I love even just the poster of the buttons and the shape of the flower and all that is really cool. But yes, I was like, I do love seeing this too because it gives me names of people that I can go and look and listen to that I've never heard before. - Exactly, which I like. I'm always looking for new music and I feel like sometimes it's hard to find. We're all doing the same stuff. We're all on Spotify. We're all being the algorithm. They're shooting us all the same songs. It's hard to break through sometimes. Some of these names I've never heard of, which makes me think if they're going to be at this festival, they're probably great. - Exactly. No, I think so too. I think it's a great way to discover new music because there were a bunch of names I had to look up as well. But I think that's so fun. - So fun. - So fun. Awesome news. And to wrap up topics, Kiki Palmer addressed her relationship with Shawn Evans. She said, "That's my guy. I love him. I love Shawn Evans. They're taking it one wing at a time." - One wing at a time. - They're hanging out. - So we're keeping it low pressure. - Yeah. And this was such a Kiki answer. She is at CAN right now. She's being interviewed by Jay Shedding. He was like, "So what's the deal with?" And he brought out the receipts. He was like, "What's the deal with what's Shawn Evans?" We saw the Dumapos. You guys have been pizza together. It was like very specific. And she had laughed. But it was like, "Oh, you know, we're hanging out." I do appreciate that we're hanging out answer more than the, "I love Shawn. I love Shawn Evans." - Yeah, yeah. - Because you just read it as, like, if you read the article instead of seeing it. - Yes. - And it just says, "You know, I love Shawn. I love Shawn Evans. You read that as like, Shawn Evans got friends owned." - Yeah. But when she says like, "They're hanging out, taking it one wing at a time." - Yeah. - Play on a hot one. - It is. - And also maybe leans more towards maybe they're hanging out. - Yeah. You'd definitely have to hear the clip of her saying it because the way she speaks about it, it was she's laughing, having fun with it, but wasn't trying to. She's like, "Oh, you guys, you guys saw that?" Like, whatever. That's just the key key way, I think. - Play it into it. - And make a joke about it. - One wing at a time. It's very funny. - Very funny. - It seemed like you ever took that picture of them on that date. It was like directly in front of them. It was so close. - Are you thinking about the Glenn Powell and Michelle Randolph picture? - No, no. The one where they're like, where this all started, the Duma. - Yeah, yeah, Luke Holley. - Well, Luke Holley's very small. It was like, - As if the phone was like this far. - Luke Holley is as big as the studio. - Luke Holley is smaller than this. - Yeah, so yeah. - And if you're sitting at the table next to him, you're right next to him. - It's 10 tables. - Yeah. - So it is close. - So someone took a big risk with that photo unless it is planned. - No, no, but I think that the, look at the camera, the girl probably won't like that spot. - Yeah, they were sitting against the wall and there's pictures here, I think. - There's a way to do it. - Lift your phone one second down. - There was a picture of Michelle. I thought maybe you were talking about this. There was a picture of Michelle Randolph and Glenn Powell. - That maltest. - Eating at maltest down the street. It looked like the person just went right up to them and just went like this. - That one it did. - It really actually. - And you know what's funny is like maltest is so great and we were walking like when you walk by it, all the tables around the street. So it almost seemed like someone was just walking by the restaurant, saw them and just went like this and took a picture and just like kept walking. - It looked like they went right up to the table. - Yeah. - They were the way they were eating on the street as big of a celebrity as he is. Ballsy. - You know, he's just a regular guy. - He's got his cowboy boots on. - You know who obviously adores maltest is my husband and when I said that to him, he was like, Glenn Powell is trying to be me. - Yeah. - Well, Glenn Powell, he knows the good stuff. - Yeah, he does. - He does. - He's trying to soak in New York City. - Yeah. And that's a recommended recommendation. - Really? - Maltest is great. - And it's the vibes too. You do go and you want to sit outside on a beautiful summer evening. - And it's closer to the water, it's in the village, but a little outside. - Glenn knows the stuff. - Yeah. - And it's a good recommendation for those listening who are going to New York City. I think Maltest is great. - Oh my god, Maltest is great, yeah. - Yeah. - All right. - That wraps up the topics. We are here with a very special guest, we have Milly Alcock in studio. We are so excited that you are here. We have been trying to get you in here for a while actually, yes, because we love House of Dragon, we love, we loved sirens so much. Sirens is fun. Sirens is so fun and now you're super girl, which is like the highest of the highs in terms of super heroes, all those kinds of things. Did you think that a superhero was going to be in the cards for you as an actor? I didn't at all. Yeah, but I mean, it's been such an exciting fun kind of journey, but I didn't, I never thought that I would play a superhero to be honest with you. How did you get into it? Get into this film. I had a meeting, I had like a zoom with Peter Saffron who's one of the studio heads, and he was telling me about this film, Super Girl, and I was like, okay, like this sounds exciting. And how it was based off Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow, and then like a month later, they asked me to send in a self-tape, but I was in Australia at the time, I was visiting my family and Oz. So I sent this self-tape, and then you know, 10 days later I was flown out to Atlanta to do a screen test, which was a very long flight. Australia is the furthest place. You can be from anywhere else in the world that isn't New Zealand. It's like so far. It's hard to get to it. It's like diabolically far, but I love it. So I got like a 24-hour flight to Atlanta, did the screen test, and then eight days later, James Gunn sent me a WhatsApp to a deadline on a cool. He didn't call me. Oh my god. I was like, this feels like news that you call someone. You know what I mean? This feels like, you know, like you're a super girl. Yeah. Yeah. And you're finding out when everybody else is finding it. And I was like, oh, sick. Thanks, man. And then I just like bought a bunch of really, really cheap champagne and just drank. That's the way to celebrate. That's my friends. It was fab. Yeah. Kind of on point for the character. Yeah. Yeah. Because she loves her drinks. She loves the drink. You know, you said you put yourself on self tape. What is that like for a role like super girl? Because art, you know, is it just like you're standing in front of a wall doing the self tape?
Are you trying to act like you're in this scene? - We're seeing so many other elements. - What is the self-tape like for Supergirl? - It was just, it's, there's one scene that's at the very start of the film of when I'm celebrating my birthday when I am drunk. So there was that, then there was another scene that was a flashback, and then the last one is like the end of the movie, that final scene. But they strategically chose scenes where I didn't really have to do any action, 'cause I think that it would just, become really complicated, you know, if they're like, now take off and fly. - Yeah, it can become a pretty cheesy self-tape, right? It feels, yeah, it would feel very silly. - Make sure you have your sword for the time. - I know, but when we would have to like cut to me flying, but it's me still, I would just act and then just like jump on the spot. - Yeah. - Like it was really, to what someone do that is like, be like, whatever. You just like, just kind of like, look at the sky. It's like, just like, do a little hop. - Yeah. - Well, you do such an amazing job, and especially, I mean, you're working with a CGI dog in this film, which is so interesting because, you know, us watching it as viewers, it really feels like you are communicating. - Yeah. - How did that work for you as an actor on set, having to pretend the dog's next to you? - Yeah, I mean, it was a really great exercise in my imagination, especially because of what crypto means to Kara. Like, she, in this film, yes, she isn't saving the world, but she's saving her own world through saving him. So. - That's beautiful. - Yeah, I should have said that in all my interviews. - Yeah, yeah, I was like, I'm glad you said it here. Just thought of that. - When you said it, I thought, is this a line that she does for everybody? But I feel special that it was just for us. - Yeah, it is. - No, but it was, it was kind of fun. Like, we didn't, yeah, we didn't have a tennis ball, which was great. It was just me miming a lot, which is a very humbling experience pretending to like kiss a dog in front of all of your coworkers that isn't there and get licked by a dog. But yeah, it was, it was a lot of fun and our VFX department have done an absolutely phenomenal job, not only with the dog, but building the worlds that we enter into. Like, I was so blown away when I saw the film for the first time, I was like, they have done, they're the unsung heroes of this industry, I think. I was gonna say, what is that feeling like after you finish a project that is so heavily, like the effects are so important? Like, is it kind of like, you're like, well, I guess we'll see how this turns out 'cause it's, you're not, the worlds are built in front of you. - No, I mean, we, in saying that, we were really lucky that a lot of the sets were actually there. It was more so like the flying style for any of like, the action that was taken in the air, like in space. That was all kind of like, well, right. - Right, right, right, what happens here? - Yeah, right. - But no, our art department did such a phenomenal job in building these worlds and there's a planet that we go onto that's named after the illustrator of Tonkingswomen of Tomorrow. And that set, we spent like five weeks on, but all the, 'cause it's kind of exterior when you see the film, all of that was built, that like they built the outside of this town. It was amazing. - That's incredible. - Yeah, it is so cool. It is visually a really cool movie. And it's like, it does take you on that adventure. When you get cast as Super Go, and there is of course such an element with Super Hero movies of like keeping things a secret or having to, like you pop up at the end of a movie but no one's supposed to know that you're there. And it's all these things. Is it hard to keep track of what people know and don't know? - I mean, yeah, 'cause also like as an actor, you're the last person to know anything. I'm serious, like they would tell you the last-- - You were the last one to know that you got the role. - Basically, yeah, basically. But I mean, yeah, you just kind of like tread with caution and try not to spoil anything, but I think I haven't spoiled anything. - Is it fun to get to see people's reactions though when it's obviously not public that, you're gonna be in something like just like at the end of Super Rendez, oh my God. - Yeah, she is. - Yeah. - And you can finally talk about it. - Yeah. - I mean, it's kind of all very surreal and it was really fun going on to that. 'Cause when I went on and shot that cameo that was like very recently after I'd been cast and it was just kind of really incredible to step onto the fortress of solitude and be like whoa. And they keep that room just as cold as they are. - Yeah. - So much set is freezing. But that set is so cold, we're all in puffa coats in the middle of summer. It's diabolically cold, but you know. - They're really trying to be as authentic as possible. - Yeah, exactly. - It's a very immersive experience. - Yeah, exactly. - You talk about the flying, there's a lot of stunts, action, you're fighting people off. What was the training like for this experience? - Loki, pretty chill. (laughing) - I'm not gonna lie, I would do reforma pilates every morning. - Which is amazing. - Which seems kind of just relaxing. And then in pre-production, I would then do like two hours of stunt training. But it sounds like more intense than what it was because basically, stunt crew is phenomenal. Mickey, my stunt double is the real. See we go, nobody can move like her, she's insane. She's an insane athlete. So they would just kind of build up that foundation of, okay, how to throw a punch, how to throw an undercut, right hand, left hand, kick, da da da da da. And then they're like, let's put it in a sequence. Okay, let's do that sequence at speed. Okay, let's do that sequence at speed with like a six foot, billion height man, you know, like stunt double running at you. Okay, let's do that. Now with the camera and everything else included. So you kind of like, 'cause it is a very, like you're adrenaline spikes so high before they roll action because you know, people are lunging at you and pretending to like hit you. And you're in a very confined space. So you have to get comfortable with dealing with people pretending to, you know, just punch your face, right? Speaking of six billion, million height men, Jason Momoa. This is a total man in the world. Yeah, what is it like acting alongside him because you're a very tiny girl. And Jason Momoa is a big, big man. He's a big, he's a man. As he would say bastard, 'cause he, he's not that a lot in this film. Yeah. What is it like working alongside him? I mean, he was so excited to take the role. I mean, he's been wanting to play this pot for like 15 years. It was a bit crazy. And we had already been shooting for about two months at that point 'cause we kind of shot in sequence, which was amazing. Wow, that's kind of unheard of. It's kind of unheard of, but it happened. Yeah. But yeah, he just bought like such a big energy onto set and it really just like shook up the entire room because Kara, who I play is so kind of flat and crass and a bit dry. And he's this very big, boisterous kind of, of character on a motorcycle smoking a cigar. So it was amazing. Is he the kind of guy that wants to do all the action stuff himself? Yes. (laughing) Because I feel like there's so many, I feel like you hear actors talk when they had to do these big action films. And there's some actors who are like, I wish I got to do everything. Yeah. And then there's some that are like, I actually, please put my stunt double in. Yeah. Well, it's also like a safety thing, you know what I mean? And it's like, okay, if this is safe for me to do. Yes. And you know, you're really exhausted. You also have a professional who is like, just itching to get in front of a camera who's going to do it safely, efficiently and quickly. Yeah. So it's just for me, it's about picking the right time to be like, I really want to do this stunt or being like, I think that like you should take it from here because otherwise we'll be here for a month. Right? I think it was maybe Tom Holland talking about it recently. He was like, you know, you get into it and you're like, I want to do it. And then you see stunt double do it. You see how good it could be. Ooh, they should be good. Exactly. Where it's like, maybe not, but it is so fun to watch. And you have like really long sequined fight scenes in this movie. What was a day on set like when you had to go through those big scenes? Those big scenes. Yeah. Those big like fight scenes. Yeah. Everything just takes longer because you've got to, you know, some of the stunties and yourself are coming in and costumes a lot of the brigands are in these big armoured suits. It's like, OK, how safely can they move without, you know, over compensating or like showing a costume? And like sometimes the costume is hard. Then you've got to set it up. OK, full camera. And then you're like, OK, I have to set up full camera for impact. So like, can we sell this? So everything takes longer. And there's also issues of, you know, safety if you're working on a ratchet, like with a wire and everything. And then because of the suits or if people were in like the kind of, because all of our aliens were real basically. So we had an incredible team legacy coming and make all the aliens that I fight with. So the stunties like can't see, can't hear. So they have to have time outside. Outside of the things, everything takes a bit longer, but it's very fun. I mean, with so many cool sequences and shots, did you have a favorite out of the whole film? The bus sequence is pretty gnarly. And we had shot that. That was the first fight that I learned, front to back. So most of that is me. I can tell when it's Mickey. But that's just because I know. I want you. You know what you didn't do. Yeah, I know how she moves. But yeah, we shot that and then Craig was kind of like, I want to go back in and get this incredible shot that I think based off Old Boy and it's. kind of like racks or it's like this big, this big pushing runner, runner, runner. That we see kind of go through the bus, space bus. - Yeah. You also do an incredible job at accents, things, you know? - No, there's no Australians in like the world of things. That irks me. They can't just be like a random Australian at a university or at a college or in like, and we exist. - Yes, yes. - Yes, it's there. - You are there. - Right here. - Right now. - But there really are, there really isn't that many characters are like, this is gonna be an Australian. - But it's like character. - Yeah, it's like, which right now. - Which right now. - And I think that's why, and probably it's, 'cause we buy into the acting is so great. But I do feel like it happens with Australians even more when we're like, oh my God, that person's Australian. - Yeah. - Because you have such a good job. A lot of times also getting confused with British. Do you feel that way? - People think you're British when. - Only Americans. (laughs) - There you go. - I'm so sorry. (laughs) - No, no, it's fine. - You know what, it's fair. - It's fair. - It's completely fair. - No, but also my accent has gotten less Australian. 'Cause I've lived in the UK for five years. - Yeah. - So, okay, that's great. - That's a great point. - And I think it's just a little sliver of something to make us feel better about it. - I'm trying. - But when there's like, also people hold on to that first big role that everyone sees, someone in and they're like, well, how's the dragon? She's British. - British. - Come on, obvious. - There's got the accent. What's the hardest part about learning a new accent? - The hardest part about, ooh. It's always just getting really comfortable in the placement of your tongue because that differentiates an accent. Like, in English accent, it's the top American as the back Australia is in the middle, which is why I think we can kind of switch really easily. And then it's just getting comfortable and set with actors who actually have that accent. And the fear of when a director comes to you and tries to get you to improvise. 'Cause it's really hard to improvise in an accent that isn't your own. 'Cause there's like times of phrasing, there's like the rhythm in which people talk is different depending on where they're from and all that. But you just get really good and do your job right. - Yeah. - You just have to know. - Right, but no, that makes sense. So it's like, you can practice the line as much as possible when they're like, hey, can you actually change it to this? You're like, okay, how do I say that one again? - Yeah, it's a stunt in its own. - Yeah. - Trying to learn a new accent. - Yes, but it is very impressive. - All right, let's talk about the game day vibe for a second because truly is fully in their era right now. They're the official hard celtier of US soccer, which just makes sense. And they've got these packs that are perfect for watching with your friends. Like the Star Squad pack and the Wild Berry, there's so many good flavors and it's just easy. You bring it, you show up, everyone is happy. The flavors are super refreshing, very fruity, very drinkable and you're not getting that heavy feeling after a couple. It's only a hundred calories and one gram of sugar. So you can actually hang, keep watching, keep chatting, keep everything going. And we love that there's so much variety because not everyone wants the same thing. And truly always has options. It's kind of the ideal thing to show up with when you're watching a game or just hanging out. Grab a truly Star Squad pack or Wild Berry pack for your next watch party and keep the vibes going. (upbeat music) But we have loved so many of the projects that you have done and House of Dragon was so massive. And we are getting the last season right now too. And I think there was a lot of people that I wish we could have gotten more of you guys, but it makes sense, it was the younger version. But what was the audition process like for you with that show? - Okay, I'm gonna have to like rack my memory. I was living in Sydney, it was COVID. Me and my friends were throwing these warehouse parties and we'd gotten money from the government to throw a party of a COVID, because it was like a part of like the cultural kind of act. And like bringing everybody together so we were setting up that party to go. They were all legal, it was live music. It wasn't like dance music, but it was very, very fun. I did that for years, I loved it. Anyway, and then I had to, I got asked to do a self-tape and I sent in a self-tape, it was two scenes and then about a week later they, I think it was one, and maybe it was two auditions. It was either two auditions or one, but I basically got a phone call and they were like, you're it, it's happening. And I couldn't tell anyone. So it was like throwing this big party and like not being able to tell anyone and then just like, it was flown to London in the middle of COVID. So everyone was like, what are you doing? - Right, right, right. - This is very mysterious. - Yeah. - Did you watch Game of Thrones? Like did you understand the impact and weight of like how huge this was gonna be? - I didn't, because I was really young when I was gonna write, I was, I was asking. - Yeah, I was like, I actually hoped she wasn't watching. - Yeah, but I did, 'cause I had to do the hotel quarantine. When I went to the UK back to Australia, I had about six weeks off and I was like, I'm gonna go back home for a month, you know? I'm like 21, I don't know how to like tie my shoes. I'll feed myself I need to be home. So I did like the two weeks hotel quarantine and just completely binged it and really understood why people were obsessed with it. I think it's a really great show that like, as an audience member, nobody is safe and I think that's something the audience is really craving. You know when you watch something and you're like, okay, well, I know they're gonna be fine. - But in this show, you're like, oh my god, literally, and anyone can go. - Yeah, that was the best part of it. - That was the best part of it. You didn't even know if they would bring somebody back. - No. - Nope, yeah, that, that, especially the ending as well. - Yeah. And so how old were you when you got 21, 21? When did you start acting? - I started like acting in school and stuff. When I was like seven or eight and then I went to a performance school and then I went to a performance high school in Sydney. And then I didn't really book my first role until I was like 15 or something. I did like commercials for a bit. - Yeah. - And then I did a few Australian TV shows, but then I did this TV show called "Upright" with Tim mentioned that changed my life in this really wonderful way. It was the first time that I had someone like see me, you know? I think it just takes one person to see you to change your life. Like be a teacher, be a co-worker, a parent, a friend, you know? And you can kind of unstoppable. - Yeah. And who, that was Tim and that? - Yeah, so Tim mentioned he's like an Australian comedic musician, right? He wrote "Metilda the Musical." - Okay. - Yeah, so he's a very clever, clever man. - Yeah. - Love "Metilda the Musical." - I know, it's a big show, good. - Did you, did you, you were in film school? Did I read that you dropped out of film school? - I was in high school. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - This is the before me out in high school. - Okay, high school. - Yeah, high school. - I dropped out. - Love that. - Hell yeah. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, once you get, - It's held back and then dropped out. - So it was never really my thing. - We love a school dropout. - Yeah, we do. - We do. - Yes, we love it. - We support it. - Yeah, well, well, for the right reasons. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Not for everybody, for everybody. - Nothing is for everybody. - Yeah, exactly. - And that's okay. - Yes, yes, yes. But when you sit in the chair and you're like, - Well, worked out for you. - Well, when you become super girl. - Worked out for this. - Then yeah. - The three bucks. - That is surprising. - It certainly does. Now that you have to travel all over and you're filming and doing all these different things, isn't hard for you to, like you said, it's so far away. It's hard for you to get back to Australia. - Yeah, I haven't been back since that audition. - Really? - I've been back once in like five years. - Oh my gosh, are you missing it? - I get like these random homesick pangs, like I'll be walking down the street and hear an accent and I'll just be like, you know, my throat is in my mouth. My throat is in my mouth. My tears are in my mouth. You know what I'm saying? - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - It's like this thing. - I'll be like, oh wow, that really just like hot, that really like gets me. Your tears are in your throat. - My tears are in my, I'm sad. - Yeah, your throat is in your gut. - It triggers an emotion. - But yeah, I really am wanting to go home this Christmas and celebrate Christmas at home 'cause I miss it and I love how Christmas can try and convince me otherwise. But yeah, what if it's summer that we would never understand? - Hot new years. - That sounds great. - That sounds great. - That sounds great. And I do think we do that 'cause so many people go to like tropical places for New Year's here. - Yeah. - Christmas, like they hold on to the cold Christmas. - Yeah. - But New Year's, they'll jet off to somewhere. To somewhere warm. - Well, this is interesting that the seasons are all backwards. - Well, it's just, it's the same way. - Yeah, yeah. (laughing) - It's just the equator. - Right, right. - We just, yeah. - Someone asked me, she was like, do you celebrate Christmas on the same day in Australia? And I was like, yeah, she was like, but it's summer. And I'm like, right, but the day is still the day. - The day is still the day. - What does not change for any reason? That is so funny. - Fair question. - Yeah, yeah. - We'll let it slide. - Yes. - I feel like you've been jumping from project to projects. Like you said, you haven't been home in a lot of years. You've been very busy. What's your downtime like in between things? - I just like to do. - I just really like to participate in the world. - Yeah. - You know what I mean? I like to go for walks. I like to go and sit outside and people watch. I want to get the tube. I want to completely interact with them.
the magic of what it means to be alive because that has been like the biggest thing that I've really been missing while doing all this. I see people and I'm like, oh wow, they're just like going, they're just like what kind of thing I don't. And they're just like going home and they're just gonna make dinner like just really normal, normal stuff. - Is that ever hard for you? Like people recognizing you, you know, wanting to be out on the street? - It's not that bad. - It might change, I hope it doesn't change. - But, you know, I'm a super girl. (laughing) - Yeah, but it goes in waves. Like when a project comes out, you'll get the kind of like, people whispering on the tube. Which kind of feels like, I know it's nice, but it feels like, okay, you know what? High school and you hit people like talking about you behind your back. It feels like that, you know, instantly like, oh, I'm not a person in a room anymore. - Yeah. - When you walk up into a conversation and you realize that they start changing what they're talking about. - Yeah, it's gonna feel like. - She's coming, she's coming. - People think that you can't see them, which is always so funny. It's like so, no. People think that they're being discreet and they're like, oh my god, look. It's like, no, I can see you. - No, no, I can see you. - I can see you. - Completely. Do you remember your first, like, on the streets? Oh my god, are you, Millie? - I think I was on a train, not really, but I remember like being on the tube suddenly, like the day it came out and people doing this, like, yeah, right, right, right, right, right, right. - They do the, right, they bring out the phone, the Google, and they try to, like, - Oh yeah, no. - Yes, and then it's this, then it's to the side. - Yeah, it's that, and you're like, I can so see you, man. - Right, that is, they click the record there, so you're gonna get a full video on. - That is so true, 'cause you know what people always do is 'cause they look and they're like, is it? And you can see the, the Instagram, you can literally see them type like. - And they'll be like, the most of the dragon cast. - They kind of do like the look away. - They tap their friend, they're like, - Yeah, they're like, I think it's hard. - That is, no, that is, it's definitely hard. - The friend's like, no, it's not, no, no. - It's definitely hard. - Definitely, definitely hard. - Where did you guys film "Sirens" in New York? - In Long Island, it's gonna say, yeah. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - In Brooklyn and then in Long Island, yeah. - Yeah. - 'Cause it was, gorgeous. - It was gorgeous. - Yeah, I'm from Long Island, but I've never seen Long Island that night. - I remember watching it and then Googling, trying to find all the locations that you guys are filming. I'm like, I need to wear it, wear all these places. - I've never been invited to that part. - Yeah, I know, which is gorgeous. - Yes. - I was just out there recently. It's so, it is really, really pretty. - It was so funny watching "Sirens" which we loved. We absolutely loved "Sirens". Seeing you with Kevin Bacon, and it was, - K-D. - Right off the bat, you're like, oh my God. You're looking up your age right away. Did you have that reaction from people? 'Cause we're like, oh my God. - Yeah. - You're just like, having bacon? - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - I mean, I just think working with Kevin was so fun 'cause he's just like such a dude in like, he's so down to earth and so chill and just kind of like, has this cool walk and it's like really knowledgeable and really like a good energy on set. Like, is there for the work? Like, I was like, oh my God, you're like a really cool, genuine person. This is amazing. - Who has been around for so long, has been in so many iconic things. Is there anything on set that you learn from him? - I think just watching, it was the same with Julie. - Yeah. - Julie, I'm on. It's the same with just watching the grace in which they carry in being a collaborator and being really there for the work. Yeah, and being a team player, and being really open and just really genuine. - Yeah, that is really cool for such big name stars. Like them, when you're on set and you're like, oh wow, they really are a team player, they're here in the same way that you're there, a crew member is there, everybody's working in the room. Everybody's working on the show to make it happen. - Exactly, yeah, yeah. What was your first thought reading that script all the way through? - Sirens, yeah, okay, so Tee. We only, so Molly, Meisa Smith, Rysa was writing episodes four and five while we were shooting. So I didn't get episodes four and five until I was about to shoot until like two weeks before we started shooting episode four. - Okay. - So I didn't know the ending. I didn't know where Simone was gonna go. I think she was kind of writing it to like, as we were going to, you know, for the actor, like seeing what people were kind of bringing and what would be interesting and working with them, which was really great. But yeah, but I just remember doing that last scene at the end with Megan, and I'm like holding my champagne and she's holding it. That was real champagne, by the way. 'Cause the bubbles needed to look fizz-y. - Yeah, you need the good stuff. - But that was so, like such a hot scene to film, 'cause that was all seen together and it really felt like, okay, I'm saying goodbye to you and this job and also, you know, what was happening in the show. - Yeah, well, that makes it even cooler too, 'cause it felt that way, of course, we didn't know watching it, but it was such a good twist that you just loved. You loved those limited series like that, and it does. - Yeah, that's what you'd like. - Yeah, that's what happens. - Yeah, yeah. It was really, really so good. - This episode is brought to you by No Bull, Barswell's favorite footwear brand. Is there anything that you are, I know, press while you're doing press, it's your nonstop moving, but is there anything that you're watching right now or reading right now that you're loving? - I'm listening to a lot of audiobooks. I'm just trying to think of the chicest answer to give. - Yeah. (laughing) - That with me. - It can be an un-sheet. - It would not hurt if she got a sleep. - What am I listening to? I'm really listening to Kitchen Confidential 'cause it's just kind of great. - Yeah, yeah, always. - I'm really listening to Fame Sick as well, then I don't know. - Yeah. - Just when I'm watching a bunch of true crime documentaries, which isn't good 'cause I'm scared of the doc. And I'm alone a lot of these. - Yeah. - Yeah. - I actually feel like, I don't know what it is, but every time recently that we've had people in or actors in, they're like the true crime. - You just do that. - You want to tell the true crime off and there's something really refreshing about seeing a real person go through a real emotion. - Yeah. - That isn't like contrived. Did you watch maternal instinct? - I was just gonna ask you if you watched maternal instinct. I didn't want to bring it up, but. - Oh, that bitch. - That bitch! (laughing) - I was like, she's crazy! - Oh, no. - I brought that up last week. - I was like, as it was happening, it was like there's no way that she's got, there's no way, oh my, that was my reaction. So I had ordered ice cream. And like, you wanted it to know if the house? - Yeah, that's a win. - Well, we had McFlurry's. - Was it like perfectly melted though? - Yeah, it was like perfect timing, ordered McFlurry's. - Genius. - It was like, you know, when you're in the mood for like, not ice cream, but like a McFlurry from McDonald's, you know, it's different than ice cream. - It is. - Anyways, we got McFlurry's and we were like, let's put on maternal instinct. I could not, I legitimately was going to throw up everywhere because I couldn't believe what I was watching. - I was just like clenching the entire time. - Yes, it was disgusting, disgusting. And that's what I, what you're saying though, like that's a real person that exists. - That's a real person who made those choices. She's just not well, as well. - No, yeah. - There's no sane person who makes these choices with the logic in which she had them. It's like, you weren't going to get away with it. Like, what weld would you? - Well, she thought she'd dry. - Well, how was she going to cut the end? She just leased the gun and like, she's even cover up. - Yeah, what's happening? - She was an actor in her own right. - Okay. - She was big in that shit. - All of life is a stage. - Yeah. - She was an entertainer. - I was a performance. - That was insane. You have to watch. - Here's the thing, like, you know. - Go watch it. - I am going to, but you know, when you wait a little bit too long for documentary and you're like, everybody's been talking about it and on stop that I'm like, shit, I feel like I've watched. - No, no. - No, no. - You've really got to watch it. - You haven't watched it unless you really watch it. - Yeah, I know you're right. - You're absolutely right, you're absolutely right. - And also, did you watch The Crash, too? - Yes. - I feel like there's a lot of tea that's coming out of me. - Yeah. - Yeah. - She about how it's like. - Okay. - That I didn't say that. - Yeah, that's a bit, yeah. - Yeah. - Trouble. - Exactly. And then these documentaries, they go so viral, everybody watches them. And then people are so locked into what's happened, what happens in their real lives. So we're all really going in. So true crime, audio books, any of you do any reality TV or what like, or you kinda like, I can't have a TV on. - It has to be like a very specific type of reality TV. I love a love on the spectrum. - Yeah. - Love, I adore that show. I love the ultimatum, the lesbian one. - Yeah.
- Yes. - The Louis Vuitton. - Yes. - Yes. - It's so good. - Good. - 'Cause like, first season while they did it was insane. - I want more gay dating shows on it. - Yes, that's like, 'cause it's so good. - Honestly, they were so true. - Especially I think like with love Island too, I think everyone's like, we need more. - We need more. - That ultimatum, the first one that they did was so good. I forgot about that one. But that's like, it's like, if I'm gonna do it, I'll like, temptation Island. - Yeah. - But that's just like, I feel like a terrible person watching it. - I'm like, you guys, this is bad. - Or you actually find that it makes me feel like a better person. 'Cause I'm like, I wouldn't do this. - Yeah, right. - Exactly. - No, temptation Island is a deep cut. - The, yeah. - That's like-- - That's a deep cut. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, well, it's getting crazier and crazier. But we are so excited to hopefully see more of Supergirl in the DC world. I feel like, you know, with these superhero movies, you get to see all these other collaborations. Is there anyone else in the DC world that you would love to work with or have Supergirl link up with? - Ooh. I think Catwoman. - Yeah. - Yeah. - I think they would be buds. They would be cool. They'd be trouble together as well. - For sure. - I think it might be the best way. - But in the best way. - Yeah, yeah, definitely. 'Cause you can, I don't know, Supergirl sort of have, you know, you use like black cat versus golden retriever energy. It's like, there's a little bit of both. - It's a bit of both. - She's like cat dog. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yeah. - Supergirl, yeah. - Yes, dude. - 'Cause on the outside, she's black cat. - Yeah, yeah. - But, but there's always a reason. - Exactly. - There is always a reason, which is, which is so true. And you know what we also loved in this is like a funny moment just for us when we were watching. Did you watch all the Santa Claus movies growing up? - No, well, Bernard, is who plays your dad in Supergirl? - Yes, dude, he was in 10 things I hate about you. - Yeah, and there's so many amazing things on. - But like, those Tim Allen, Santa Claus movies are such a staple for Christmas. And I'm looking at him watching the movie. I'm like, why does he look so familiar? And that's what it is. I thought that was so, so fun. He's great in this too. - Yeah. - Next time you see him, you could be like Santa Claus, Santa Claus. - Yeah, people are talking about Bernard, the Elf, he was the big deal. - Pretty big deal. - Pretty big deal. But the movie is out Friday, June 26th. Everybody can go see it. Really good summer. - Super heroes. - So much fun. - So much fun, yeah. - Yeah. - Go hang out, get a cold drink popcorn. And like the, the theater's nice and cold. - Yeah. - You can see all the fun action in this movie. - I feel like especially with this movie, it's something you want to see in a theater. - You have to see all the special effects. - You need it on a big screen. You need this surround sound. Everything about it was so amazing. We got to see it in a theater, which was so fun. And I feel like you really need that kind of energy when watching this movie. - Yeah, a hundred percent. - So, everyone, go see it. - Exactly. And if you're someone like me who gets a little more emotional when things happen with the dog than with humans in movies, you may share a tear. - Yeah, exactly. - I thought, oh my God, I'm going to cry watching you watch. - They definitely pull it out at your heart strings. - But you're also just like, yeah, this is bad ass. - Yeah. - At the same time. - Exactly. Thank you so much for joining us. - Thank you so much. - Thanks guys. - That wraps up today's episode of "Ticks in the Office." Thank you so much for watching and listening. We love you guys so very much. And we do have an episode on Friday. So stay tuned for that. - Yeah, "Ticks in the Office."
