The episode critiques two major political missteps: Vivek Ramaswamy’s controversial ad, which aired a campaign message featuring his opponent’s mother accusing her of lying, and Donald Trump’s recent rhetoric about oil profits rising during wartime. The hosts view both as ethically troubling and strategically indefensible. The ad is condemned as a profound breach of family loyalty and human decency, while Trump’s claims of massive corporate profits during high gas prices are criticized as economically incoherent and disconnected from public suffering. The discussion highlights how such messaging—rooted in emotional manipulation and family sabotage—undermines rational political discourse. The hosts also address the Democratic strategy of invoking Barack Obama to frame the Iran war as a failure, noting how it shifts blame and erodes trust in Republican leadership. Ultimately, the analysis argues that these tactics reflect a broader trend of toxic, emotionally charged politics that distracts from substance, deepens polarization, and damages democratic integrity. The episode concludes by warning that such behavior will damage the credibility of both candidates and harm public trust in the political process.
what's up what's up everybody welcome to a brand new episode of part of the problem i am dave smith
he is robbie the fire bernstein how are you today rob i am well how are you my friend very good
very good we had a nice uh we had a nice weekend up there in portland maine it's beautiful up there
huh rob i mean you know the homeless aren't so beautiful but aside from that very cool we had
a fun time up there you know it's funny uh after touring the whole country and then you drive up
the northeast and fall and you're like you know i kind of like the northeast it northeast does
have its charm and particularly this time of year man this time of year it is just awesome but you
know this is only one part of the year i enjoyed uh i enjoyed a walk around portland it was a good
time and then uh i am off this weekend but then you and i are out in san diego playing the comedy
club out there the great america
and comedy club which is always a good time and then i'm doing a porch in a guanga on sunday
then i got a gig in uh outside of new orleans before skank fest then filming the fbi thing in
new york city so please come out and buy tickets for that big big stretch end of the year robbie
the fire bernstein guys go grab tickets uh porch tour.com um and comic dave smith.com come on out
see us out in uh in saint why do i keep wanting to say about saint louis um san diego in san diego
looking forward to that uh okay so
we got a bunch of stuff to talk about rob and i'm not exactly even sure what particular order
um we we should do this end um got a big show tomorrow looking forward to that gonna have a
big show in the studio in new york city i'll post maybe i'll announce the guests uh a little bit
later but really looking forward to that um and so today we got to just get through a bunch of
this stuff there's a there's an election going on today in israel uh benjamin netanyahu's uh
in a in a real uh what seems to be a very bitterly and tightly contested election and next week are
the u.s midterm elections so we're in the middle of the chaos rob it's all going down um where okay
i'm thinking about this i don't even know what to deal with here first there's a few you want to
just do vivek or get right into the vague ramaswamy uh um controversy i mean i almost feel like you
have to comment on this
and i don't know man you know as i've said before on the show i personally i like uh vivek i met him
several times we got pretty friendly like in the year 2024 he came on the podcast a bunch of times
i don't remember how many and then he came on the podcast four or five times uh you were you were
you were a real hot chick during that stretch where everyone wanted oh yeah everybody yeah
all of a sudden everybody really cared what libertarians said so isn't it so funny when
people forget us compared to when they're losing us when they're in power and messing everything up
um but anyway so yeah so look obviously they came on the show a lot vague talked about a lot of
issues that was red meat to me and you rob and a lot of our our listeners you know had very detailed
plans on how to hack up the intelligence agencies and the bureaucratic state and that you know his
entire focus of his presidency he said was on the destruction of the managerial state um anyway
there had a lot of very reasonable takes on a lot of issues some bad takes mixed in there too but
had a lot of reasonable takes it he was um always what this kind of young whiz kid who was always a
little bit over polished and and let's just say there were always issues with his perceived
sincerity
let's say rob is that a diplomatic way to say it there were always some issues with like whether
people felt like they could really trust the guy or not um and for good reason and whatever i i gotta
say rob it's been something to watch this guy it just absolutely go down in flames like he was this
whiz kid who was kind of like really made some noise in the presidential election didn't do
overwhelmingly great
in terms of like vote totals but really rose his name recognition and um got into fights with bigger
canada you know punched way above his kind of um weight class and was in big brawls with nikki haley
had big moments became a household name you know he kind of there was some promise there people
were thinking of him as like one of the guys who could potentially be one of the leaders of this
movement going forward i don't think anyone views him as that anymore he is he he managed to like
completely make himself hated by the base that he would need to support him in his future political
endeavors um you know his thing at young americans for liberty as we talked about the lecturing young
people about winners and losers total lecturing people about um the american culture american
identity like did nobody tell him did was nobody around him going like listen dude you you
your name is vivek ramaswamy you're a republican your dad isn't a citizen of this country and
opted not to become one you also made like hundreds of millions of dollars and what almost
everybody perceives to be one of the most like slimy scandalous illegitimate markets industries
and now you're sitting here lecturing everybody about who's a loser
and who's and their identity like i don't know dude no one around you was smart enough to tell
you that that's political suicide and you weren't you didn't have the wisdom to sniff that out for
yourself okay all that in the background rob this last one this is the craziest shit i've ever seen
in my life i can't believe they ran this is uh i'll let you go off on this i want to play the
ad natalie if you have it up rob sent the ad over i will just describe this as indefensible
indefensible that he actually did this i look at him different as a person that he that he ran this
ad your thoughts rob well i think that's a exactly the issue at hand is that uh politicians are
playing the game of that they're nice and noble people and uh it is a nasty game but usually
they're smart enough to hide behind packs when they do the nasty stuff or give some distance
between themselves and the uh really critical ads or the critical ads will be um trying to
candidate and show off that behind the scenes the other candidate's actually nasty or has a
scandalous past in this case um he did something we're gonna watch the ad in a second that even
if all this was true it's so gross you're like who put this in front of me and why i don't want
to see it yeah so anyway we're gonna do that to you now i suppose but you know it's we're talking
about it and it's relevant so we're gonna don't worry we're gonna make some good points off of
this but yeah here's here's the ad this is he vivek ramaswamy dropped an ad featuring his
opponent's mother let's play it name is donna arthur and i'm amy acton's mother i worked at
children and family service association building one of the first two sexual abuse programs in
america i love my daughter but when i saw her lying about her opponent it's not easy for a
mother to say this but amy has a serious problem she is a liar she lies about her past
she says she grew up living in a tent none of that is true she's lied her entire life
my daughter needs help and she can't help you if she needs help you get it you know like you get it
um just to be clear what's going on here yeah you're actually seeing what you just heard
even as she says there my daughter's a liar she claims she grew up in a tent she could just to be
um, the Vakes opponent, she claims that her mother abused her. And so the Vakes campaign
went to the abuser, the alleged abuser for their side of the story to, to clarify that mother
who's willing to come out and cut an ad against her own child. That's actually what you're looking
at here. Sorry. Go ahead, Rob, with clarification to clarify that. What I, I, what I believe the
story to be is that the dad or stepdad was the abuser and never actually play, play, never
actually was held accountable for the crimes because the mom and dad fled the state. And so
seemingly the mom took the side. I, I don't know why I can't remember if it was dad or stepdad.
I'm assuming it was stepdad. But I, apparently the, the, it, she did leave, live out of a tent
for a period of time and the stepdad abused her. And the mom took the back. Yes, I didn't mean to
say when I said the mother, when I said the mother.
The mother abused her. I just meant to say left her in the conditions of living in a tent. Like I just see the extent that that's abusive toward a child, but yes, neglectful abuse or something like that. Yes, you're right. But I'm just saying like, look, Rob, look, I don't know. Isn't this obvious? This is such a like basic human thing. It's, it's shocking. You made this point, Rob. I don't mean to steal your point, but you said this to me in the green room the other night where you go, how did he not even have like a pack put this out? You know, like he just put it out from his own campaign.
the face of it, it's the most disgusting thing to witness. It's, I don't know, nobody, no one who's
not an insane person does that. So you've already got your character witness here is an insane
person, by definition, the fact that they're doing this, losing all credibility. There's nothing to
the allegation. There's not all that's left here is how disgusting what's being done is. And that
any human being, any human being with the shred of humanity, like the smallest shred of humanity,
would just go, dude, I'm not going to go there. Someone sent this to them. They go, oh, the
mother's willing to do this. If someone else wants to find that and put it out, all right,
but I'm not going to be the one to do that. Dude, it's just insane. And it does seem like,
Rob, this was thrown out as almost like an October surprise. And the backlash to it has just been,
I mean,
so predictable, I would think, but shockingly, they did it anyway, but pretty devastating.
All right, guys, let's take a moment and thank our sponsor for today's show, which is CrowdHealth,
longtime sponsor, great company. I've been telling you about them for a while. Fall is here. The end
of the year is coming up. A lot of health insurance plans are going to be coming up at the end of the
year. And if you're not familiar with CrowdHealth, you really should because it is the alternative to
health insurance. And we've been telling you for the last year about their Black Swan membership,
which is the healthcare,
alternative for those who want autonomy over their care, their costs, and their lifestyle.
For just $95 a month, you get a team of expert bill negotiators, access to low-cost prescriptions
and lab testing, plus a curated database of high-quality, low-cost doctors vetted by CrowdHealth.
So there's no insurance middleman, no networks dictating which doctor you can or can't see. It's
just you in the driver's seat. And then what most people wonder is, well, what if there's a major
Black Swan event? Well, you cover the first $15,000.
And the crowd steps up to help fund the rest. It's like the freedom we used to have before
Obamacare came in and turned healthcare into a bureaucratic mess. So if you're ready to end
2026 on your terms, use the promo code POTP at joincrowdhealth.com, and you'll get the first
three months for just $80. That's right. Kick off the fall season with healthcare that puts you
first. Again, CrowdHealth is not insurance. Opt out. Take your power back. This is how we're going to
win. Visit joincrowdhealth.com and make sure to use that promo code POTP today. All right,
let's get back into the show. Yeah. And him and Trump are both standing by it, that this was
just politics. Mom criticizing her own kid. Voters should be aware of it. And they're sticking to
their stories. Yeah, Vivek is going, no, the theme of this is that she's a liar. All right. Yeah,
that's the theme of the ad, is her own mother calling her a liar. But we're going to focus on
the own mother part of that equation. Like, what do you mean, dude? There's just, I'm sorry. First
of all, ever airing, I just think this is like kind of obvious, right? Ever airing an ex-wife,
an estranged brother, an estranged mother, when there's a family beef, just going, yo,
we're going to hear from the other side.
Their perspective is already just like way over the line, man. Way over. And I don't know. It's
just, I don't look, man. I don't know what to say. I don't like take any pleasure in saying this. Like
I know Vivek, we haven't talked in a while, but like I, we were friendly. I don't like having
anything personal against the guy, but it's like, I don't know. That was evil, dude. That was like
some evil shit to do. Who the fuck? What were you thinking, man? Air opponent's mother. Like you got
little kids. Vivek has little kids. I don't know. As do I. You should think, would there ever be a
situation where I would try to like sabotage? I don't care what they did. I would just simply
never do that. And there's something, um, I don't know. I, I, I think part of this was like
one of the worst aspects of, um, like woke culture on the left when it encouraged
like a complete lack of loyalty at all. You know what I mean? Like people would like, uh, like throw
their close friends of years under the bus for committing some, like, uh, you know, some ridiculous
woke offense during the years. Like, I don't know, man. I feel like your, your good friends, your
family, you just, you stick by those people. There's something like really so awful about watching that.
Like what your kids politics are like your kids running for office. You're going to cut
a commercial against them. Why, what are you motivated by here? Really? Am I to believe
that this old lady is motivated by, she's just concerned for the voters. Like, no, it seems like
you're trying to like ruin her. So I don't know. It's like something really six going on here.
Vivek Ramaswamy, why would you want to get in the middle of that? You know,
I don't know. Crazy, crazy unforced error. I don't even know what's going to happen in his
election or whatever, but he'll be tarred with this for the rest of his professional career.
I think it, uh, showcases, uh, a nastiness that, uh, people don't like, and it's going to be, uh,
hard to move on from, uh, with that said, if he manages to win his, win his election,
which I'm going to guess he's not, cause it seemed like it was a tight race and this has
become a big story. Uh, but you know, I, I don't know, I don't know everything going on in every
election, uh, but if he manages to win, you know, uh, he can move on from this, but my, my guess is,
uh, this one's not going to play well for him. Yeah, I would, uh, I would be with you on that.
Speaking of, uh, guessing, this is not going to play well. Let's, uh, let, let's go to the Trump
speech. Um, this was an, and, uh, Natalie here, Rob had the, uh, in the, in Rob's in the email
that Rob said he had the timestamp there as well, but let's go to the, uh, the Trump comments that
he had made about.
At a rally the other day, these are the comments on, um, oil prices and energy. I, uh, this, I,
you had sent the, like you had picked this part of the speech out and I had seen, uh,
I guess, I think it was the, um, the guys, uh, the breaking points, uh, guys had,
had picked this too. It is truly remarkable, man. I just, I, Donald Trump, look, man,
whatever happens going into midterms, what can you say? You know, we're at a
little bit of a point here, Rob, with the show where we've kind of made our case. We've told
you what we think has been going on for the whole, you know, last couple of years. I just can't get
over. I've never seen a midterm pitch quite like Donald Trump's. I don't know. Just really is
different than anything before, including all of his, uh, previous campaigning and the things that
he would say. Let's, uh, let's, let's pull that up and, uh, and, and get into this a bit.
We are ensuring that, just one thing, we have to make sure that they never,
ever have a nuclear weapon. And we'll do that very easily.
And while oil prices are temporarily high and will be falling dramatically in a short period
of time, as soon as that war is over, because there's so much oil, all in the hormone strait,
ships waiting to come. We hit him out so fast. The United States oil and gas business is making
hundreds of billions of dollars.
So I said, I wonder if I should say this. I'd like a little advice from my two people,
my two big monsters that are going to do so well. They're going to be the biggest stars
in the country in a week. So our country is making hundreds of billions of dollars because
of what's happened in the Middle East, because they're coming to Texas, and they're coming to
Oklahoma, and they're coming to Louisiana, and they're taking that oil. They're making
hundreds of billions of dollars.
little bit more here but rob it's like if people are wondering it's like yeah yeah he's doing it
he's literally sitting here going you know i have this instinct to brag about this thing
i was talking to my people i don't even know you know he's like he's almost letting you know like
like i knew i had to run this by someone because people could say this is a bugged up way to do it
because okay first of all i know the wars hurt you i know prices are up for you okay listen baby
just keep voting for me them prices are going to be coming down as soon as this is over like
first of all that's already the pitch acknowledgement that this is fucking you
over but hey it's going to be totally great soon okay not the strongest pitch but then on top of
that he literally goes but dude while this is hurting you the fucking profits of the oil
companies are killer like i i don't know man it's not this isn't there's been so many objections to
donald trump over the last decade ranging from the hysterical he's hitler to he's a russian spy
to he's a racist he's rounding up children to he's like there's just been so but rob there really is
something for like the trump populist movement to be at this place where the message now is god i
Listen, you are all paying more money for gas, but that money goes to a giant gas company that's
making more money now. Is actually the pitch here. What do you think, Rob? How do you think
that'll play? You might as well tell people, hey, I know that you can't get a job, but our
corporations are seeing huge profits by underpaying people overseas. And this is actually good for our
GDP. I think the biggest issue amongst voters is if you wanted to boil it down to one, it's, hey,
I think this system is corrupt and it's benefiting other people. And Donald Trump's pitch was, well,
I'm going to represent you guys against the corruption. Hey, I know that you don't like
all these immigrants coming in. I'm going to go take care of that. Tariffs, which we're going to
get into in a second, but which were stupid was, hey, I'm going to make sure that other countries
aren't stealing from you.
And you can get a job. I'm going to be bringing down prices. And now he's literally letting you
know, hey, listen, the wealthy people in this country, the people who own the oil, they're
doing great. And so this is actually a winning policy. And if you thought that he was going in
there to represent you, he's gloating right now about a policy that's making other people a lot
of money at your expense. And he's also letting you know that they workshop this behind the scenes
of trying to present storylines to you that you're going to like.
It is like, dude, I don't know how it it's so funny, like almost even in arguing with the MAGA
people, or just any of the people who are still just trying to be like, vote for Republicans. Oh,
what are you doing? You know, they're mad. They're furious. I'm on social media, furious at like Nick
Fuentes, because Nick Fuentes was like, fuck it, dude, I'm not supporting the Republicans. And so
they're furious about that. And you're like, you just wonder how far would they have to go before
you'll start blaming this on maybe them. Maybe this is on.
the people who are losing the election, not the ones sitting on the sideline going, why did you do
everything wrong? You're going to lose the election. It's just so bizarre. Dude, imagine, Rob, you know,
when they go and politicians like line up and shake hands and kiss babies. Okay, imagine your
candidate just went up there and just spit in everyone's face. Would you blame them then? Like
at that point? Would you go man, maybe that wasn't a good strategy? Because this is like, it's really
not that far off.
telling people that even though the whole goddamn mandate was about how prices went out of control
under joe biden and donald trump campaigned for years on how he's going to bring the prices down
now he'll go yeah the policy that i chose caused them to go up but whatever dude big
corporate profits that's cool yeah let's keep playing wait uh yeah i'll reserve this comment
okay sure sure on oil and then on top of it we have venezuela and we have greenland
because greenland has a lot of oil so we're making hundreds and hundreds of billions trillions of
dollars but my people said please don't mention that sir because people are paying a little higher
that number is going to come way down but what we've done for this country we're making money
like this country has never made before so i said let me say it very
gingerly very softly because somebody would say the fake news he's bragging about making money
while people are suffering at the you know because you know you're still paying lower than biden
and obama all right can i i gotta play they don't have to yes yes go ahead go ahead rob this is what
triggers my autism brain the most for all of you uh people who gave me a hard time on tariffs and
you love tariffs and i kept pointing out why do you want central planning for government jobs i'm
sorry for factory jobs this is not going to work well is this good this oil policy is it good or is
it bad is it good that our oil companies are making a killing or is it bad because it's costing people
too much money and to donald trump does i guess it doesn't matter how it plays out it's good this
is your 4d chess all of your prices are up uh from everything i understand while i guess it's
neutral on gdp because the profits uh lower gas prices are usually what uh fuel economic
development in this country because it's the input on everything um so you're you're bragging about
stalling the economy for everybody over that the core input price that drives everything is going
to be higher and now he's going well this is actually good because there's the billion so
then which one is it are we better off with uh should we close the straits permanently and force
everyone to buy american oil is that i mean i'm saying for essentially planning our economy is
that what's good or lower energy prices and having more energy available better for every
body and that's what we want and and this is what you guys want you want it all in the hands of one
person to drive a policy does it sound like he actually has a coherent vision and and the other
part that he's overlooking is we've drained the uh strategic reserve down to like the levels that
they're worried it's going to like destroy the salt mines or whatever that they keep it in so
why is he trying to push down oil prices by draining the reserve uh unknown how they're
going to refill that thing uh but at the same time the oil profits are up so it's good what
is the consistent strategy
or policy here for you people that love donald trump's central planning that you go oh yeah he's
got this under control this is a win no it's just like everything else man it's just like every other
it's like all central planning they they tell you this story about how well it's going to work out
and that you'll see because the the planner knows better and then every time it doesn't they just
have excuses and you know donald trump coming back here uh you know i should add i agree with
everything you said
um but i should add to that like just also the the point of oh and it's still cheaper than biden
and cheaper than obama and like if you even understand what he's doing with the numbers
there it's like yeah if you pick the point of the highest point in there in obama's eight years or
or biden's four years but actually guess is up from the end of biden's term so like people know
that they feel they pay it every day it's kind of like you're not really like fooling people into
not being able to pay it every day it's kind of like you're not really like fooling people into not
not thinking that gas isn't up from before you started this war uh yeah i don't know man this is
just an incredibly it dude he's even admitting there rob he's admitting that his advisors told
him don't make this point man you know don't go spit on the babies kiss the babies that's what
people are gonna like they don't want to hear you say this um and then he's saying the fake news is
gonna say he's bragging about making money now i don't know look i don't know i don't know i don't
look i'm it doesn't sound like he's bragging about personally making money i think he has
made quite a lot rob and i think his family has made quite a lot um in the last couple years but
he is bragging about big deals like that we're making all this money but the numbers are also
bullshit rob we've talked about this before but bragging about trillions of dollars from
venezuela this is just like totally assuming that this huge reserve that
they have that has never been refined or put onto the market that we're going to do it it it takes
like 10 really huge assumptions before we get to we've made trillions of dollars off of anything
we've done with venezuela and if you look it's not gonna happen we did not make trillions of
dollars on venezuela and if you look at venezuela what have we accomplished that just removing the
sanctions wouldn't have oh yeah right right if you actually run the numbers on any of that who knows
this uh um this idea that like yeah yeah yeah prices are up but actually it's not that bad and
they're gonna come back down at a at a date to be determined um and also trillions of dollars
that's his pitch and also made up trillions of dollars are coming in but all right all right
guys let's take a moment and thank our sponsor for today's show which is body brain coffee fellas

all right let's get back into the show i just got to stress it again if there's
a coherent logic here the prices coming back down are bad for our economy because apparently it's
good or are you just saying it's good temporarily to give a handout to the oil sector and that that
somehow benefits us but then lower prices generally speaking or what's been what what like what is the
coherent philosophy or are higher gas prices better because our oil companies are making money
or lower yeah no i've heard he's said that he's explicitly said several times that it's actually
good for us when the prices go up so yeah if you're if you make them higher if you like central
planning and you think that that's a good strategy for the u.s economy so then why are you changing
course from something that apparently is bringing us a financial windfall he is it's totally
incoherent as i always said like if you he has said several different times that it's actually
good for us when the price of oil goes up because we're a net exporter but then he'll still brag
that it was higher under joe biden
you
do the math on that rob so then joe biden should be bragging about his high gas prices right
anyway yeah here let's keep playing
happens but they're going to be coming no i could just see the fake headlines
president trump is talking about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the
pump that'll be the headline but i said i don't give a damn i'm gonna say it we'll make it a
freaking fortune
our country is getting stronger and stronger all the time and those pump prices are gonna come down
and another thing and we should win the midterms just on this i got most favorite nation agreements
to reduce the cost of many prescription or prescription drugs from the highest drug price
anywhere in the world to the lowest drug price anywhere in the world with reductions of from 50
to 90 percent
all right here we can i guess that's the end of what we wanted to play i think um let me just say
by the way just on what he's transitioning into here but like there should somebody should put
together maybe i should if i may stop being lazy although i do work so goddamn much to call myself
lazy but i'm sorry i'm just i'm obsessively reading about this next debate that i got to go into and
the war and all this shit but almost all of these claims donald trump's making are just fucking lies
dude like just total lies about what the
administration's accomplished like i know um you know he keeps like my uh actually i was talking to
my father-in-law about it because he's a uh senior and it's like well he's bragging about this like
no tax on social security like what is the difference in the tax you're paying on social
security between him and before you know what it is there's no difference at all being the exact
thing he goes oh yeah no i inquired about that you got to be completely destitute to qualify for
this program right so you have to like be like you you can only i forget what the rules were
something about your net worth had to be under like 200 grand and then you had to be not be
bringing in more than 30 grand a year he's like i live in new jersey and i'm alive how is it possible
that i would have let you know what i mean like it's just like it's and um so the no tax on tip
stuff so much of the bragging about like oh the prescription drugs have been totally slashed rob
like i'm just saying like it's not the case he sits there and brags like nobody who pays who
works for tips pays taxes anymore nobody
is paying like that's just not true and somebody should go through and kind of like you know call
him out on all the details of that because it's always when you look into it always like the
devil's in the detail but essentially it's always if anything like yeah maybe a little bit around
the edges like there's some waitress who makes 14 grand a year who's paying less taxes on her
tips or something but it's not as if like i don't know the stuff he brags about just hasn't really
been accomplished here in reality aside from that
i don't know rob this is um look to some degree this is a position that the incumbents are in when
they fail to deliver the the incumbents who fail to deliver are always in a somewhat of a difficult
place but i'll tell you man if there's like one political lesson i've learned in over the years
just in terms of like just pure political analysis dude when there's a bad economy telling people how
great the economy is does not work it never works you just trump is sitting there and he's going i
know the prices are up but the economy is booming this is just great trillions of dollars of new
investment all this wonderful shit um that is just so removed from reality you know it's like
the the economy is being crushed under the debt and enormous spending of the federal government
everybody knows that
it is like like these basic things like the average first time home buyer is 40 young people cannot
afford to participate in the economy and when i say young i'm going 40 i'm going like the first
half of life you cannot participate in the ownership class of society that is a major problem
um to tell people that the rob in other words just to be clear right if it were true that an economy was
booming but prices were also going up which is like not theoretically impossible although it
typically would not normally be the case in a booming economy but it's not impossible but the
truth is rob in that environment what you really won't find is people complaining about the prices
going up you know if an economy is truly booming and there's all this money and all this investment
and all this new industry coming in you know what i'm saying rob like if we if we were to
if we were in a situation where we were like you know dude like the price of everything is up but
all of us are making like 150k more than we used to people aren't complaining about that
you know people are complaining because the prices are going up and they're going up faster
than they can compete with them to just come here and say no it's really great oh and by the way rob
here's the big drum roll those prices will go down in the future
trust me that's his mid that's his closing midterm pitch this is it rob we're we're one week

slash dave all right let's get back into the show any any other thoughts rob uh i'm excited for the
midterms and uh hopefully if the uh democrats take it instead of going back to the midterms
uh all the woke nonsense they spend the next two years going after uh trump for corruption and get
us gets out of the iran war and uh maybe we get a fun show out of donald trump crashing out and uh
screaming and yelling yelling as uh the administration has to combat the democrats
and it would be it will be interesting if the democrats manage to impeach and get hegseth out
of office because the republicans were not successful at trying to do that to mayorkas
uh who was absolutely terrible not just terrible on immigration i think they were terrible on immigration
i think he was the ringleader of trying to get people through the border and bring as many people
in as possible um so anyways it uh yeah well we'll see man it's so it's so kind of interesting
because like you know it does seem to me to some degree right like donald trump really did clean
house to a degree with like his national security council and kind of like trying to get like deep
staters that he didn't trust out of there this time and he did kind of bring in like his own crew
shit I've been reading about this, Rob. And I'm this
weekend, particularly been like reading a ton about this. It's
like it really does seem like he did kind of at least to some degree remove a lot of those guys
who he wasn't sure he could trust and all but then the problem is rob is that he just kind of did it
in such a blank blanket way and brought in literal clown amateurs like hegseth he gave hegseth the
defense department this is a dude i mean i don't know how to tell you this rob i've had beers with
pete hegseth after fox news shows like i've had beers with the guy that's where he belongs
having beers on some level he knows it that's where he belongs to like it's just the most
insane thing ever to get so you remove all those people he brought in some good outsiders to
the joe kent and tulsi gabbard or whatever and then just totally boxed them out
and just made it like a real small circle and kept netanyahu in that circle
you
know why he chose to do that as anybody's freaking guess but it's um it is crazy like almost at a
point now we're like yo if the fucking democrats could impeach hegseth or something like yeah root
for that get this guy the fuck out of there man um i yeah it's it's just anyway very wild all right
we got to uh we got a another thing that we have to address here and this one hurts me personally
um but brock obama
here in the fourth quarter uh of these these midterm elections and this is how the democrats
always do it they always use him this way and it is look say whatever you will about obama right
the the fact of u.s politics right now is still that the motherfucker with the biggest dick in
the room in the republicans is donald trump and the motherfucker with the biggest dick in the room
amongst democrats is donald trump and the motherfucker with the biggest dick in the room amongst
democrats is barack obama right this is unless michael's there huh unless michael's there
no rob i didn't mean to say he literally has the biggest dick in the room this is you understand
this is a metaphor about who has the most juice amongst the democratic constituency
if you're going literally it's the biggest dick in the room then obviously we're going we're going
we're going michael on the democratic side and um god damn it's definitely it's another
another it's one of those women on trump keeps around him on his side anyway um but so you know
but barack obama and this is not just a fact of the fact that trump's in office and and he's out
you know obama they use in spots they pick him in spots to come out like at the end of the
midterm pitch now we'll hear from barack obama he doesn't just like flood the market every single
day the other thing is that um and keep in mind that you know i hate barack obama it's not a
it's more than anyone um that being said he and he much like trump they were never perfect with
their endorsements it's not like they're able to just transfer whatever political juice they have
to someone else because they say they support them but barack obama is not a fucking hated figure
in america at this point he really should be but he is not he's just not he's generally popular
now part of that is
because he's gone and he's never coming back and he doesn't make him he doesn't insert himself into
politics like constantly um but anyway the demo that here's the democrats kind of at the end
of uh of of you know their fourth quarter pitch and they're bringing out barack obama
and rob i don't know what what can you say he's stunting on trump man obama is out there enjoying
this uh you here you want to just uh let's go to it let's let's see a little bit more of this
let's see a little of uh obama you got to say whatever you can say about him
was always uh always excelled at this here is barack obama we're gonna go in there and get
them to give up their nuclear program their nuclear weapons now the thing was Iran didn't
have nuclear weapons because I had put a deal in place that everybody acknowledged kept them from
getting nukes and I didn't have to fire a missile to do it I just had to engage in diplomacy he
pulled out of it starts this war seven months later six months after they declared victory
because remember they said well this is the best war ever it's gone great so so seven months later
how's that war going
our allies and our bases have been attacked
Americans have been killed hundreds of Americans have been wounded we have run down our stock of
missiles and Iran now has veto power over the Strait of Hormuz where oil goes through to the
world market this is the reason why the price of oil is up
nobody disputes that this is the reason the price of diesel is up
this is the reason why the price of just about everything is up
meanwhile yeah you got the defense secretary who's who's squarely focused wait wait don't
move wait wait wait can we just pause it for a second here pause it one second um Rob
I think the Democrats are going to win the midterms
you heard it here first this is I mean dude it it pains me and don't get me wrong I'll let's
trash Obama for a little bit after I say all these things at some point but like God as you
guys know I just hate Barack Obama I hate him he's the president I hate the most I know there
is an argument over if you want to get into all this like was George W Bush worse or was you know
but man I hate Obama so much and for really good reasons that I've gone off on for you know better
part of the last 15 years but dude I mean Rob if we're just sitting here putting political analyst
hats on and going we just heard the most pathetic pitch ever from Donald Trump this is like
this is almost as good as the case he had against George W Bush man remember when he
used to give speeches just laying into him and you were like Jesus man by the end of the speech you
were just like he goes oh okay let's see here's what uh George W Bush did George W Bush said that
we have to launch a war in Iraq when we were already in Afghanistan and Osama bin Laden was
in Afghanistan at the time and he escaped you know like and he would just like point out that it was
just like everything you did just completely backfired and now we've been a war now all our
boys all these boys have died and like for oh we just light them up and like this right here what
can you even say and dude Rob oh the way he's look whatever you feel about Obama man he's really good
at that and the way he even needles it perfectly Rob where he goes he goes and this is consensus
meaning even Trump is telling you yes the prices are up because of this war he's saying they'll
come right down but like oh then it's just so devastating dude and he's I'm sorry dude
he's 100 right he had a deal that stopped them from getting nuclear weapons however you feel
about it he had made a situation where they were not going to be able to get nuclear weapons with
at least not all of us knowing and having a bunch of warning before they did and instead Trump shows
this this is so objectively worse than that uh Rob this is like an unbelievable you know you have
nothing you have the worst closing argument ever and you've let them come in with their this is the
what you've handed to them they can now come in with their biggest you know influential guy and
just have a devastating fourth quarter argument that essentially by the way not saying they they
get it here but like essentially could have been taken from me or you Rob right it's just sitting
right there on the floor anyone who's going to tell the truth is going to say this and there you
go you lose the country back to the woke Democrats because you gave Obama this talking point great
job guys yep they uh have handed the Democrats
some winning cards uh this is all factually accurate and things that we've been saying on
the show of how much of a disaster this Iran war is and uh been a big theme on run your
mouth uh mostly last year of uh when I was criticizing Trump of going dude you're proving
the Democrats right you're making us all look like assholes everyone that came in and said
hey we got to get rid of these people you're making all of them right that we can't have
Donald Trump in control because he's a lunatic and he's going to do stupid things and uh and
now we got to sit here and now we got to sit here and listen to Obama lecture us we got we this is
how we get punished for getting on board with the goddamn dumb Trump I mean you didn't really Rob but
I did uh but this is out now I gotta listen to Barack Obama who literally should be talking to
me from the Hague like out of a Hannibal Lecter mask where somebody goes oh here's we're able to
get an interview with the Butcher of Libya and he's obviously been convicted for his heinous
you get the doing this oh just goddamn his phony like smooth black guy impression like it's one of
the things that's always so annoying about Barack Obama this whole entire time like by the way yeah
no the thing I really hate about him is like right that he's the Butcher of Libya and Syria
and Somalia and Yemen and he's sitting here talking about how Americans are
he's responsible for thousands of our boys dying in his escalations in afghanistan his war in iraq
his war all i mean not to mention just hundreds of thousands maybe millions of innocent civilians
dying in his programs but also he's he's fucking white rob like he's fucking white and it's so
it's such a weird thing dude we have such a weird thing with race where we just consider half white
half black people black so everyone just goes oh he's the first black president ever he's fucking
as white as he is black and in fact was raised by his mom was raised by a single mom raised by
the white half of his family and then when he does the democrat thing because somehow you guys just
don't hold people accountable for being complete fucking chameleons like just totally fun so then
he gets up there and he just he kind of gets lost in his life no no no i told him no no that should
be playing this with me no come on and you don't talk like this motherfucker i just hate every inch
of this and so he can brag about the jcpoa look he's right about this but of course he was a
monstrous president um who did far you know i mean look if you want to sit here and debate over what's
the dumbest you know foreign policy blunder i will admit that iran might be in the running for
taking that prize but in terms of the humanitarian crisis that was created in syria that was all
obama's fault in libya that was all obama's fault um no like trump doesn't even hold a candle to it
so but whatever man now you've this is what happens you launch a war of choice you fucking
go and lose it and you lie through your teeth about the whole thing now you've made obama the
hero again you know what the cost of that is man you know like you know how important it was to not
do that all right guys let's take a moment and thank our sponsor for today's show which is

all right let's get back into the show yeah is it like this is the thing that's so infuriating
about when you hear any of them talking about the threat of the the socialist left the radical left
or whatever it's like okay and also you know i gotta say in some way rub look i'm not i'm not
saying like this is correct uh because of course none of us wanted to see it go this way right this
is why we tried to do everything to to not have it go this way but i'm just saying i'm not saying
anything i'm not saying here but what i am saying is given that this is already happening it's kind
of like oh okay yeah yeah i'm not saying anything i'm not saying here but what i am saying is given that this is already happening it's kind of like oh okay yeah
you guys wanted to call all of us a bunch of anti-semites right like okay have fun dealing
with hassan piker's muslim followers you know like you know you wanted to talk all this about
every reasonable right-winger who correctly pointed out that this would be a disaster and
this would tank the republicans agenda you wanted to call all of us uh nazis and anti-semites and
all of this like okay cool enjoy your new crowd to argue with yep it's an infuriating uh watching
barack obama have a good moment yep and they hand it to him man he so does not deserve it
um yeah uh and and i will say though you know like i didn't and i can pick on him like there
are things i just don't like about obama like the you know people don't have a problem with
that they find it kind of charming but i don't like the fake accent thing that he does but um
look man he's really really good at getting on stage talking into a microphone and delivering
a goddamn message that get people up on their feet um the you know man thank god the democrats don't
have a candidate like him right now um but yeah they this is i mean i do think this message is
a great one and it's it's as good as the democrats could ask for from barack obama in the fourth
quarter all right um what was the hold on there was one other thing that i wanted oh here let's hit
on uh brett stevens let's do the the first one i sent um the nations uh says nations critical of
israel can go to hell uh brett dude brett stevens um neocon uh and i don't know like if brett stevens
was actually like an ex trotskyite or anything but he maybe was but he really is like essentially a
real neoconservative um he's i argued with i got in a debate with him on the gutfeld show once years
uh but anyway he um used to work for the jerusalem post now works for the new york times ain't that
funny how that works rob um but uh he's uh so here he was at some type of conference
and just going off you know i do love these moments rob where we find you know as i've
talked about through the years we've had some real interesting ones where every single one of these
conferences every single one of them wherever there are anything you know any anything that's
at all related to the israel lobby or anything like that it's the jewish republicans conference
the this or that whatever it is every one of them they're just like more unhinged than the last as
they talk about these things when when there's just like i don't know rob there's like just this such
obvious answer that's right in front of them which is like you know israel's just gotta stop fighting
wars for a little while man like israel's gotta just stop killing people like for a while stop
stop killing people stop like getting america into wars stop taking people's lands chill the
out for a little but anyway here's here's brett stevens having what i would i think
uh a meltdown might be fair to call it here let's play this this business of standing is a
false idol it's a golden calf um you know who's standing has fallen in my view the democratic
party
i used to visit ireland i think what a nice country i wouldn't set foot in that country
ever again in my life these these european leaders who uh parade their courage by recognizing a
palestinian state but are in a celine dion concert while their capitals are burning what's their
standing israel should deal with the settler terrorist
problem because it's the right thing to do because it's a country that believes in the rule of law
it should it should deal with with with the the the refusal of the ultra-orthodox to enroll their
sons in the army because it's the right thing to do that's that's what this election is about it's
israel doing right by itself but the rest of the world can either recognize that israel is this
tiny little country that is standing up for civilization as we know it today or they can
go to hell
you know for all we know in 30 years the we will remember 2026 as being important not because of
this election not because of the war with iran but because israel consolidated its relationship
with the most important democracy of the 21st century
called india all right that may be what matters that's this whole this whole
business of of seeking standing was the mistake that led us into oslo which was the idea that if
the world loves us everything will be fine love without respect crumbles what israel needs is
respect whether there's love or not okay rob the reason i had to play this clip right is because
this is so amazing on so many different levels by the way even toward the end robbie goes and what
this is seeking standing that's what the question is on the question is on israel losing all of its
standing in the world meaning the opinion of everybody else of it um and he even at the end
goes to this whole seeking standing thing is what led us into oslo like this is what i mean like the
real neoconservative this is like that oh it's like this is why we needed a clean break
from oslo uh exactly right what are we worried about with standing what everybody else thinks of
us you know who's lost standing to me the democrats every country critical of israel dude it's the
the reason why this rant is so great is because it's just classic like israel lobby neocon
he's making it's amazing that they're able to do this he's like blasting all these people
and proving them correct at the same time without realizing that he's doing it so i think that's what
he's doing he's making it look like he's making it look like that he's making it look like he's
making it look like he's making it look like he's making it look like he's making it look like he's
literally goes that he hates everybody who's um who's not
you know, who's critical of Israel, blasts everybody out for that, goes, people can
either recognize that Israel is just good and on the right side of every issue, or they can go to
hell. Those are the options that you have. Okay, Rob, anybody talking that way about a, this is
an American. I'm sorry, dude, who, when was the last time you heard someone talk that way about
Ireland or Greece? When was the last somebody just told you that like, yo, dude, Lichtenstein can do
no wrong. You can either love them or you can go to hell, dude. What do you mean? What do you mean
you think there's an issue with Lithuania? Lithuania is perfect. Like, just nobody feels
loyalty like this to a foreign country. And that is the whole point here. And then he can move on
to how the most important.
thing. You know, Israel is going to figure out their own settler violence thing, because that's
the right thing to do. This is the way these guys think, Rob. You have evidence of a problem in
society, however big or you think it is. And that's proof that they're great. They should deal with
that because they're great. They should make their religious people enlist in the military.
Brett Stevens, very invested in the internal policy decisions of another country. They've
made a partnership with India. This is going to be a great thing.
This is going to be historic. Why are you so invested? Right? Doesn't this like just prove the whole thing, Rob? It's like, okay. This is like, I don't know. It's like at every one of these conferences, they go off like this. Like, this is so bizarre, Rob. It's so it's like, um, you like, like, I don't know. It's like the most the trait of the most like toxic, sad person who's ruining their life. You know, like some like, like childless,
single woman in her fifties who's like still ranting about how the problem is everybody else. You're sitting here like, dude, you guys, the question is like, everyone has started hating you so much. And this is the best you got. Well, because all of them can go to hell. We don't care. We don't care if they hate us. We need respect, not standing. How are you going to be so confident? You know, Rob, I remember I'm sorry. I don't mean to I'll let you go for for the rest here. But if you remember, I was
talking to you about this right after October 7th in some of the podcasts me and you did like
immediately after it. There's such a weird thing where it's like all the Zionists will say Israel's
this tiny little sliver in this sea of people who are hostile toward it. And the whole world hates
Jews and the whole world. And we're always up against it and all this. And it's like, so then
how can you say that and then also have such a flippant attitude about the entire world hating
you? Like, aren't you at all a little concerned? Don't you want to demonstrate that we're not
moral monsters that we do? What? Like, if you're so vulnerable, shouldn't you care? It seems like
you should care if everyone hates your guts. And like, that's what's going on, man. Everyone hates
you. Something you should care about. I'm sorry, you go you take us home, Rob. There's also a
flavor here. I assume this is an American guy, right? Yes. There's a flavor here of also celebrating
America's demise, where you're not actually even looking at this from American perspective. You're
going, Hey, listen, don't worry about Israel standing there partnering with India. That's
going to be the big thing that happened in 2026. And when in the future, when you see how strong
Israel is, don't worry about them. Isn't the point here? What about us? And I mean, isn't that
shouldn't that be your perspective? Is where's America going to be? And it sounds to me like
you're actively celebrating America. Yeah. And it sounds to me like you're actively celebrating
America's demise and that don't worry about this other country because they're making really good
strategic moves to the next 50 years. Yep. Sure does. And especially essentially when it's like,
don't worry, dude, when we're just left with the debt of the last war we fought for them,
they'll move on. All right. And, and again, also we'll, we'll see about that. Okay. That's going
to be our show for today. Thank you everybody for listening porch tour.com comic Dave smith.com.
Catch you guys tomorrow. Big episode tomorrow. Look out for it.
All right. Peace.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign aired a controversial ad featuring his opponent's mother, accusing her of lying about her past, which many consider morally indefensible and politically exploitative.
The ad was widely condemned as a violation of basic human decency, exposing a lack of loyalty to family and a strategic push to damage an opponent, raising serious ethical concerns.
Donald Trump’s recent midterm speech included a boastful claim that oil companies are making "hundreds of billions" in profits while gas prices rise, contradicting economic logic and appearing to prioritize corporate gains over public suffering.
Critics argue that Trump’s rhetoric is incoherent—claiming high profits from war-driven oil prices while simultaneously promising lower prices, revealing a disconnect between policy and public welfare.
The use of Barack Obama in the final Democratic pitch to highlight Iran war consequences is seen as politically damaging, as it undermines Republican credibility by portraying him as a foreign policy failure despite factual criticism.
The episode critiques the broader political trend of using emotional, familial, and moral attacks—such as targeting opponents’ family members or glorifying war—rather than policy-based discourse.
Both Ramaswamy’s ad and Trump’s energy rhetoric exemplify a shift toward toxic, emotionally charged political messaging that erodes trust and damages democratic norms.
The hosts emphasize that such tactics—whether through family attacks or economic boasting—undermine public understanding and contribute to political polarization and voter disillusionment.
Summary:
FAQs
The ad, which features Amy Acton's mother describing her as a liar, has been widely criticized as deeply offensive and unethical. Critics argue that airing an opponent's mother's testimony, especially one involving claims of child abuse, is a violation of personal boundaries and a manipulation tactic that undermines trust and family loyalty.
Trump's claims that oil companies are making massive profits while prices rise have been criticized as misleading and economically incoherent. Critics argue that he is exploiting the situation to benefit oil companies at the expense of consumers, while failing to acknowledge the negative economic impact on average households.
The ad is considered controversial because it involves a political figure airing a personal family attack—specifically, an opponent’s mother calling her daughter a liar—without clear justification or context. It's seen as a morally wrong and deeply unprofessional tactic that undermines the integrity of political discourse.
The show argues that Trump's pitch—claiming oil profits are good for the economy while prices rise—is logically inconsistent and politically damaging. It fails to resonate with voters facing real economic hardship and instead appears to glorify corporate gain at the public's expense, weakening his appeal.
The show criticizes Obama’s use as a closing argument in Democratic political messaging, calling it a ‘pathetic pitch’ that blames Trump’s foreign policy for economic problems while ignoring the consequences of past wars. It argues that Obama’s presence in such moments undermines democratic accountability.
The criticism highlights Stevens' extreme rhetoric, such as claiming Israel must 'deal with settler terrorism' and that other nations should 'go to hell' if they don’t recognize Israel. The show views this as ideologically rigid, promoting a confrontational stance that overlooks diplomacy and global stability.
