President Barack Obama condemned Donald Trump’s administration for politically motivated actions against Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, including a home raid, phone seizure, and efforts to deport her based on unsubstantiated claims about her immigration status. Obama emphasized that such actions violate core democratic principles of equal treatment and due process, especially when targeting a political critic. He pointed out that Omar’s citizenship eligibility is legally sound, as she became a naturalized citizen at 17, and that similar investigations under Trump have previously lacked legal basis and have been dismissed. The transcript highlights a broader pattern of political intimidation under Trump, where opponents are targeted despite no evidence of wrongdoing. It also critiques Trump’s rhetoric—calling Obama’s name “Hussein” as racist and baseless—and contrasts Trump’s small rally crowds with Obama’s widespread support, including a strong turnout in Northern Ireland. Obama’s political influence continues to be evident through endorsements of Democratic candidates, who are performing well in key states like Michigan and Texas. The piece underscores the erosion of democratic norms under Trump, while affirming the public’s greater trust in Obama and other Democratic leaders as reliable, principled, and effective.
You know, I love when this happens. Donald Trump getting dunked on debunked by some of his biggest enemies in politics. This time it's the one and only president Barack Obama who put out this long tweet on X or Twitter, whatever we're calling it these days yesterday, where he just went in on Donald Trump and his administration for what they're doing to representative Ilhan Omar. They raided her home, they're trying to deport her, denaturalize her and deport her out of the country, and president Obama went in on Donald Trump for this. I think you should see this post and we should talk about it because MAGA is very angry over what Obama said. Now to give you a basic rundown of what's taken place so far, Ilhan Omar's phone was seized and relative subpoenaed in this criminal probe. Here's a quick break down before we get into Obama's tweet. Federal authorities investigating Minnesota representative Ilhan Omar seized the Democratic lawmakers' phone and have issued more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas, including to some of her relatives. These subpoenas were issued for a grand jury collecting evidence in Minnesota as federal authorities probe potential fraud in Omar's immigration paperwork, said the person who spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation. The investigation led to federal agents searching her Washington DC home on Monday, just weeks before the November midterm elections in which Omar is seeking re-election. So blatant election interference might I add. The scope of one sec, sorry, pop up from the Associated Press. We love the Associated Press though. The scope of the investigation into Omar is unclear, though Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wain Mullin has suggested that authorities were examining potential crimes related to her family's immigration paperwork. So that's what's taking place with the investigation. That's what Donald Trump is doing right now, but rightly so, Obama called him out for this and MAGA is furious. They are losing it online. Now, please make sure to subscribe down below, drop a like on the video as well, comment if you are enjoying and do appreciate what I do on this show. I try to show up every single day. It is mentally taxing. Being a 24 year old and doing this every single day is, it can be, you know, taxing sometimes, but we're here and we're doing it and our democracy matters a lot to me. So let's continue. A Barack Obama saying it is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can't selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that's exactly what the Trump administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota to understand why this is so appalling. It's important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. So does Donald Trump think she was like 12 and committing fraud on paperwork? Like she was, like what? Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for a citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. That's how the system works. You'd think that Donald Trump and Republicans would know this, but I guess not. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, became the first Somali American legislator elected to the public office in the United States and went to see it in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump administration's fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. He has said often that she should go back to where she came from, that really, really racist line that him and other MAGA continue to use. Now, the administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone. All to try and uncover a non-existent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case, which there's nothing there. There is no evidence. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law biting elected official because she is dared to criticize the president. And it's not the first time this has happened under Donald Trump. The Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies from Attorney General Attisha James of New York or James Comey and others. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law. And the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar's life has been turned upside down. Her legal bills have piled up and she's been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president or any administration is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans. Regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar's political views, because if this becomes the new normal, there's no reason to believe it will stop with her or that future presidents and either party won't do the same. So well said, by president Obama, much more eloquently than I think Donald Trump or any Republican could make an argument on this matter. I mean, compared Obama, a fantastic public speaker to Donald Trump, who continues to talk about other men on stage recently, or he makes those weird sounds when he does this thing on stage, he just sounds incoherent all the time. So it's always nice to reflect on Obama, reflect on Biden, and Kamala Harris and other Democratic leaders who are competent and know what they're doing. But really well said by Obama, breaking down the facts here, and just talking about how absolutely absurd this case is. But Donald Trump has chimed in on this. He reacted the day that the search happened to it. He's saying, I've always found her to be totally crooked, but that has nothing to do with me. I have nothing to do with it. Let's be honest with each other. Even the most mega person I'd find maybe not be able to, with a straight face claim that Donald Trump had nothing to do with the investigation or the search warrant. Donald Trump, who has referred to the DOJ as his own Justice Department, the attorney general is his own lawyer, the separation of the executive and the department of justice has basically disappeared under Donald Trump. And he wants us to believe that he had nothing to do with it. His face, a banner with his face on it, was placed on the Department of Justice building. And he wants you to believe that they're two totally separate things. I mean, get real here. Donald Trump said this the day that the investigation or the search happened. And then three days later, he goes on to say in an interview that she ought to go back to her own country. So obviously he had something to do with the search. And this person pointed out that, funnily enough, Ilhan Omar has been an American citizen for longer than Melania Trump. Check this out. Ilhan claims about Ilhan Omar require you to believe an eight-year-old in a refugee camp counter-fitted to get to entity documents with such skill that they convince professionals at the INS State Department, FBI, and CIA, just so she could avoid taking an oath, which she later took, when elected to Congress, the berthers are back. And of course, Katie's saying she's been a citizen for longer than Melania has. But don't bring that fact up to MAGA because they're not going to like it. And their response to President Obama and his very well-written statement has been, you guys did this. So STFU, which means shut the up with your fake outrage hypocrite. So she's saying that, oh, because Donald Trump got arrested and all these other MAGA freaks who were part of this case got arrested, that means that you guys have weaponized the government against the Republicans. You can't say anything about it. Here's the big difference. Donald Trump is actually a convicted felon. A jury found him guilty. There was actually enough evidence to charge him with a crime. Donald Trump has tried to weaponize the DOJ time and time and time again. And as Obama pointed out, it's never worked. It's always backfire. The investigations, the prosecutions, the grand jury testimony has always stalled out because it has no basis in law. It has no basis in reality. And look, you can be as mad as you want that there was evidence against Donald Trump of committing a crime in many different cases. Maybe he shouldn't commit crime then. If he doesn't want to be arrested, maybe he don't commit crimes. Kind of an easy thing to understand. And they're also pointing out the fact that under Joe Biden's Department of Justice, there was an investigation launched into Ilhan Omar, excuse me. And they're saying that, well, that must mean that even the Democrats agree that she's committed a crime. Well, two totally separate things. Donald Trump is trying to denaturalize her and deport her, whereas Biden's Department of Justice, which was actually separate from Joe Biden. This had nothing to do with politics was looking at her finances. So two totally different things. And if she did something wrong with the finances, how the countable, that's great. No problem. We want that for any elected official regardless of party, but they're just not the same thing. All of their arguments are really falling flat. And, you know, I imagine that Obama's clapping back at Trump really bothers him because number one, he's jealous of Obama. You know, he's never been arrested, never any scandals, never impeached, serve two terms consecutively. The American people actually like him. The list goes on, his wife likes him as well. The list does go on. And now he's clapping back. And Donald Trump also just can't stop talking about Obama. Anytime he gets the opportunity, he takes it. Just three days ago, this is what Donald Trump said about Obama at a campaign rally in Georgia. I call him the divider-in-chief, right, divider. He divided our country. Barack Hussein Obama said you'll never have manufacturing in our country, remember that? Very, very soon. He also said you can have your own doctor. How did that work out? Nobody's seen their doctor. In fact, a couple of people saw their doctor recently after about a 20-year miss. No, they saw their doctor and the doctor had aged. They didn't even recognize him. You can't have your own doctor. This is what I said at the beginning of the video. It's like when we think of Obama, whenever he gives a speech, you're just entrenched. You're listening. You're there. You want to hear what he has to say. You are intrigued by what he has to say. He's a great public speaker. With Donald Trump, what the hell is he talking about? There are people recently who tried to see their doctors and their doctors age so much that they didn't recognize that he's making stuff up. It's total fiction. I can't believe we have this babbling fool in the Oval Office. And he believes he compares in any metric to President Obama or President Biden or Hillary Clinton or any of the great Democrats out there. He also, at another rally, was doing his little racist bit that he does about Obama. He refers to Rush Limbaugh, one of the worst people to ever be involved in modern American politics, true scum of the earth. He said, remember, Rush Limbaugh, he used to go Barack Hussein Obama emphasizing his middle name. Remember Rush Limbaugh, he used to go Barack Hussein Obama. Bro, I appreciate it.
scream out his name. Now Barack Hussein Obama said will never be a manufacturing country again. I just can't believe we're in the year 2026. Obama hasn't been in office in 10 years. And he is still using him as a campaign talking point. It's embarrassing. And I also think this little racist thing he does when MPs emphasizing Hussein because he thinks that's going to scare people away from the Democrats because his name is not like Joe or Mark. Nothing wrong with those names, by the way, if you're a Joe or Mark, great names. But, you know, not the typical name you might hear every single day. He wants people to be scared of it. It's a different sounding name. Oh my you know, it's so pathetic. It's so gross. It's so racist. It's so bigoted. And I imagine that this also bothers the hell out of Donald Trump. Barack Obama was just in Northern Ireland the other day in Belfast and look at the crowd he had. I mean, look at this. Look at all of these people there at this event with Obama in a different country. This is not even the United States. In the United States, he sells out, of course, but this is in Northern Ireland and look at this crowd. Now, this is what it actually looks like when there's not an empty seat. Donald Trump always says, "In my rallies, there's no empty seats." Of course, that's not true. This is actually no empty seats in this venue. That's what it actually looks like. I imagine that bothers the hell out of Donald Trump, especially because his rallies have been very small. This is a piece of technology that is able to count the amount of people in a crowd. And this piece of technology found only 579 people were visible from the AP feed at one of Donald Trump's recent rallies, like puts a circle on their face and counts them. Only 579 people visible in the feed. Now, it could have been bigger than that, and they were just not visible in the feed. But that's a pretty small number. And we've talked about it on the show, all of the different videos and photos coming out from Trump's rallies, where they are pretty empty. And this also bothers the hell out of Donald Trump. I can bet you money that it bothers the hell out of him. Americans view Obama far more positively than Trump or Biden. Now, Biden, of course, is actually looked at more favorably now than Donald Trump. All the Republicans said, "Oh, Joe Biden's going to be remembered terribly throughout history." No, he's going to be remembered very, very well as not only the man that stopped Donald Trump from getting reelected during COVID, which could, I can only imagine how bad that would have been, but also did a lot of amazing things. But yeah, Obama far more positive than Donald Trump. And he is also doing a bunch of endorsements for Senate candidates across the United States right now. So this one was Abdul El-Sayed saying this country belongs to all of us, not just the wealthy or well-connected, that idea is under attack. And Michigan is where we fight back. That's why I'm asking you to support Abdul El-Sayed for the U.S. Senate Obama cutting ads for different candidates. And what do you know? Obama's endorsed candidates are doing pretty well right now. In Michigan, El-Sayed is up four points at 48 percent. Rogers is at 44 percent. And when you break down likely voters and most motivated, that number actually widens even further. So Obama's endorsed candidates are doing well. Donald Trump's not so much. I mean, you see, Mike Rogers down there quite a bit. And then what about in Texas? Texas, folks. We're talking to Erie Toggen, Republican State of Texas. James Talleriko up in the recent Siena poll by four percentage points. Now, if you live in Texas or you know somebody that lives in Texas, please get them to go vote. I am begging you, I would be on my knees in front of you right now. Looking up at the sky, saying, "Please, oh please, go vote for James Talleriko. Do that in any state that you're in, of course." But these swing states are so important. They are going to decide the balance of power. And if Donald Trump gets another Supreme Court nominee or if our country goes even worse. So anyway, I don't mean to rant on too long. I don't want to take too much of your time. I know you folks are busy. You've got schedules that you need to attend to. You can't just hear me rant all day. But I appreciate you being here nonetheless. Thank you guys for watching. I really do appreciate it. We are in this fight together. It can be daunting. It can be depressing. It can make you cynical. I certainly feel that quite frequently. But having the community we have makes me feel a lot better on a daily basis. I will say that. So thank you so much for being here. Please make sure to subscribe down below. Drop a like on the video, comment. Let me know what you think about this story and everything we just talked about. And of course, Obama's amazing response. Have an amazing rest of your day and we will talk soon.
