NRL ROUND 1 PREVIEW: Munster Talks HUGE Eels Clash! What's Next For Lomax?

The transcription centers on controversy surrounding last-minute NRL rule interpretations issued just before the season opener, particularly affecting the Bulldogs vs. Dragons game. The main disputes involve the "stealing the ball" rule, where a defender can dislodge the ball during a tackle. This subjective rule led to a contentious penalty call, criticized for relying too heavily on referee interpretation and creating inconsistent outcomes. The discussion argues that such grey-area rules are problematic, as they vary between referees and pressure officials, suggesting changes should be communicated well in advance. Additional topics include the "disruptor" obstruction rule, mid-air tackle safety, and the seven-tackle set rule, with a proposal to exempt missed field goals. The conversation also touches on a high tackle incident involving player Critter, noting how a player's reputation can amplify scrutiny and the difficulty of applying rules uniformly given mitigating factors. Overall, the dialogue emphasizes the need for clearer, more consistently applied rules to maintain fairness and reduce referee criticism.

[Music] This is my network, I'm just going to join by the triple OG, we're doing amazing, and the bro, Luke, you so, boys, I'm not even going to stuff around. Teamless around, round one is here, and we've got some. there was some controversy, I guess, off the back of the Bulldogs and Dragonshop. Here's one from Jakko, and I want to sort of elaborate on this one a little bit more after. There was a number of people actually that reached out. They talked about the rule changes, which. how does a huge factor in the final decision, I think it was Toby Keltchman on Bronson Sherry with the Bulls. Lads, on the ship penalty drama in the Dogs vs Dragons, Michael Cariannis wrote about this in the morning of the game. So the NRL set for rule interpretation changes. Carianna sent this to. he wrote this morning of the game in the days. He wrote this the morning of the game in place, and I believe, so off the back of this, I leaked email, how's it revealed, the NRL was set to implement a host of rule interpretation changes just days out from the double header. So it was believed that the club's got this maybe two or three days out, and even David Fereli, here are his comments. I appreciate your patience regarding the rule changes and interpretations, Fereli wrote. For further education and clarity, the NRL fishing department has made referees and referee coaches available to attend Q&A sessions at your club. This is an open forum where it's encouraged to ask as many questions as you'd like. So that's probably not going to help the teams in Vegas, right? So the big ones, the disruptor and the stealing of the ball, which happened at the back end of the game. So with the disruptors, I hate the disruptor anyway, but this is here. If in the opinion of the referee or bunker applied, does not genuinely contest for the ball and interferes with the ability of the opposing player to contest for the ball, this may be considered obstruction and penalized. Genuinely, contesting is deemed to mean arriving at the ball. All that stuff for me, Mace, is what the rule has been. Yeah, players, they know that by the end of the year, but I think the reason that they're bringing this up is maybe they don't think that it was officiated strongly enough. No, because nothing in that description has changed what we view or disrupt are. But they remember the moments of the back end of last season, where it's like, where's disruptor gone? I hate to disrupt the two by the way. This is exactly what we're talking about when they come out and they fucking go hell bent on one rule, like the play the ball rule, to disrupt the rule. And then they just forget about it fans don't forget about it, but it's also yuck to it's terrible, but I don't know what they do. They just go on these big fucking bleats and like I don't know what it's it's not good for the game. First of all, fairly, if you're going to change your rules or interpretation of the rules, mate, these clubs need to go need to know the start of preseason. At least you can't fucking give them two days or whatever out from Vegas and expect them to do all this and different interpretation from the referees and all that sort of shit. We'll get to the steal on the ball, which is the main thing that they're winging about. Yeah, because of like the interpretation of a fucking referee. You can't put that much pressure on the refs. It's got to be black and white. So here is the stealing of the ball interpretation. Stealing the ball will be determined by the defending players actions. These actions may include striking at the ball, gripping and pulling at the ball or pulling a ball, carry his arm to dislodge the ball. Now, I have played with throughout my career a couple plays that are really good at whilst trying to tackle the player. At the same time, sort of attacking the ball in a tackling motion and getting away with the player who's not aware it's a loose carry. And for the most part, I've sort of seen that as crafty because there are definitely players that are better than others. No, because it's hard to do because your risk and risk injuries and everything like that. You've got to come in, get the ball down, punch the ball and it feels massive at it. Punching the ball that they aim for the ball. So there's a bit of onus on the ball, carry it. If it's a loose carry and you come in and hit the arm and because you're doing that now, let's not think that the player's going to do it. I think that the players aren't going in and they know someone's got to lose carry and you're coming in at the ball, you're trying to hit arms and everything like that. It's so detailed. It's a skill. It's a skill, mate. And so some players can't do it because especially in the middle, like if you're like, you're just trying to make your tackles. But it's the three man's. I was so fatigued that I couldn't even think about it. You don't even think about it. I'm not even thinking about it. But when the three man, like just a little half, he might come in from the side because the tackles already wrapped up, he'll be attacking the ball. There's a little chiseled to check. You know, he's good at our man money. Yeah, man money's really good at sort of tackling in the one motion, sort of knocking it up. A guy used to play with the Wakefield, but the specialist said it. Jake Miller. It's Jake Miller hated making tackles too by the way. So if he could force an arrow that way and have a say he would come up, make tackles where he'd swing his arm up into the ball. And the player would lose the ball and it would be deemed a loose carry. The way I view that is similar to it's very hard in my opinion for the referees. And this is where I think Grant Atkins has fallen victim to this as a referee. Even though I still believe there was the wrong call. But at least now with this information, I sort of understand what he was thinking. But I hate it from David Feele. He should have kept it the way it was because there was, you know what, it reminds me of similar mace. You know when a guy tries to make a pass and there are some of his arms and they're playing knocks at the end. But there are also a number of occasions where a player is just trying to make a genuine tackle like this when the arm comes out. And it clips the hand. But we all go, he wasn't really playing at that. But how are you to determine whether he was playing it or not? So you end up going, you know what, every time that happens that's a knock on. We're good with that. Yeah. And if a nine comes out and tries to play and a market comes out and trying to try to easy these arms down or trying to hit his arms. So it looks like a tackle, right? Yes. But he drops the ball. So you're trying to get full, like just say from Jason from market that way and the nine's there. I'm trying to get, so I'm not hit the ball down. I'm trying to hit your, these things here. So you're going to pull the two hands, the four arms. Yeah. Because that's the interpretation like I'm going through a tackle. I'm not trying to hit the ball. I'm not trying to hit it out on purpose. That's deemed a tackling in my interpretation. He's trying to, if you smart, if the rest of the day was going on, he's trying to fucking loosen the ball. Do you blame that? Do you blame Harry Grant for a loose carry? That's not a loose carry. He's got it with two hands. He's trying to ball play. You're just chopping at his arms. And that's what middles are taught to do. His side pressure put pressure on Harry Grant, making play early. So you're trying to get at him. I understand. And I don't know what the fuck the rules are with that. So here's the thing. And this is to your point. A tight for referees. I'm not saying it's easy. I'm not saying it's easy for David Feele to come up with rules like this. I agree with you. This should have been done at least two days. David Feele did it with fucking ages ago. This should have been done two weeks ago, sent to the cops. And fans should have been made aware because if I had seen this on Sunday, I still would have been of the opinion and I still hate because I reckon it was a loose carry anyway. I think it was a genuine motion from the catchment to make a tackle that's hit the ball. But in saying that, I would have understood it a little bit more. So fans also need to understand, because then the par long for referees happens. And by no means do I think, there's some form of sympathy to referees when they make this decisions. Because what a player is doing is, as soon as you give them grey area, coaches grey area, they live in it and they try to find where they can take advantage of it. What's going to happen is, what's the worst case scenario, rather than penalty? That sucks. So if you want to dance with a devil with the ref, he's interpretation. You don't know what his interpretation is. So you just don't fuck with it. It's going to change from referee to referee. I'm not seeing that, and I feel for the dragons fans, but I don't. Because I'm fucking bulldogs all the way. And I'm like, fuck, I can see why you're winging. You can see clearly, see it. And I'm like, eh, I'm lucky. That's all totally concise because it's the interpretation from the ref. I'm sorry mate. But that's going to be different next week from Adam G to actually con. So whoever referees it again. We're going to have the interpretation of fucking Grant Atkins. So I'm going to have a point then if they hadn't changed the rule, I think everyone would have been fine with across the board going, that's a loose carry, that's a knock on because that's what we've seen over the last couple of years and everyone goes, for sure I've watched games where I was like, he played at that. You know, like all. Yeah. Like they're, they're, they're a crafty player. They've played it. But across the board, the onus has been on the ball carry. And so we've all gone fair enough. He's got to be better the way he carries the ball because these sneaky lives and hookers are trying to do that. So you're going to have to go to the ball. Everybody's going to feel the ball. You get off a kickoff. You're trying to get a ball. Because it's like that off a kickoff, you can hit, so momentum, right? If you're all coming up, someone's hitting down. You lose the ball. It's the, like, I don't know who's, who's, who's fault that, right? So that's where players and coaches and fans are just going to be like, fuck. Yeah. Well, that's on the ref. So he's going to get all the blame. It's going to be very popular. So somehow they've got to get on pretty much the same page. Yeah. So we're not fucking talking about this shit right now. He's another level of the interpretation from Grand Atkins to Adam G might have been different as well. Yeah. Right? So because the Dragons didn't have the captain's challenge, the Dragons obviously didn't have an opportunity to challenge it. Yeah. Grand Atkins might have seen that in the moment as penalty that he played at the ball. Adam G slows it down and slow-mo. He has a look at that and goes, you know what? They might be loose carry. Mate, that's just unnecessary for the referees. And the other big one, Midair Tackle, we've talked about that. I hate this rule as well when there are clearly players trying to protect themselves when they're in the air. A bit of the opinion all along. If you tackle a player and you don't leave the ground and you just just tackle his legs. I hate that. - No, fuck him up. - But if the players are going up to compete for it, I can see that being problematic as well. I can see people mid-air tackles. That's what they're trying to, - I was trying to get eradicate that out of the game, right? But I wanna see Tupo and, - Competing, you know, like, and, Coats going up at the ball. I remember one of those games last year, where we were just waiting for fucking Zach Lomax and Coats. That was the whole, - Lomax was the first. - Yeah, we were like, we were waiting for fucking two wingers. I've never fucking waited for two wingers that have a crack like that. Well, that's what made that particular jump on Coats over Lomax because they were just so-- - Fuckin' awesome. - Those two guys, two aerial threats that we have and one come down with it. - But how many times have we gone, "Fuck yeah, I can't wait for fucking two wingers to go at it." And it was, it was actually good. - The other big one, two mace, is the critter high tackle. - That was a great one. - People were blowing up, that was. - Good evening, critter. - Chris wrote, no mention of the critter high tackle. Really, pinnacle of favoritism. And then real slow and re-al-slow and back to Muffin says, I think deaf the same way, huge talking point. Takes more effort to talk about it, than to not talk about it. - No. - Not to talk about it, than to talk about it. - Yeah. - Takes more effort to not talk about it, than to talk about it. - Yeah. - Whatever. - I disagree. - Well, he hit him high, right? Obviously, what should have happened? - No. - So a lot of people think he should be. - What do you want people to make a shoot, you got 10? - No, I don't think so. - No. - No. - So, like, what do you want? Is it the interpretation from the rest? - 10. - People wanted him to get sent. - Yeah, so people think, so he's the thing. People think critter and the bulldogs are protected species in this particular case, right? - Shut up and get people to all the time. - Don't get me wrong, dragon's fans, if you heard last episode, I was sticking up for you guys. I hated the couchman on Tupin, nor he hit way worse. I don't think the couchman twins should have got penalized for that. I also don't think Tupin, a lot too should have got penalized for his one. Later on from Adam G. Critters was a high tackle. Set-to-to was catching the ball and dipping at the same time. By the time critter made contact with Set-to-to's head, he would have been knee-hiked. So penalty sufficient, we move on. I honestly didn't think it was, I thought they handled it quickly. - What did it have been at such a big deal if it wasn't critter? - Yeah, I think, I don't think it would have been as big a deal. - Critters critter, right? He's a gun player. - So that's a fact, if that was, it is a fact, if that was Josh Karrin, no disrespect, J.C. or any middle or a person who can be replaced, but because it's critter, and because he popped that field goal, and everything like that, they won him off, 'cause it's a big deal. - Yeah, I also think, I also think, - Critter, that's what they asked in George. - Critter. - No, it's a fact, but I also believe that there were, there was so many calls that went against them. - Yeah, it was fucked. - That this was one that was highlighted, because with the contact and there was comparisons, and it's not even close, this is where it frustrates me. Sometimes even Jernos and X plays don't get this right. And this is why it's hard for the referees. 'Cause you have people in the game that confuse, like Braden Burns shoots out of the line, sort of raises his feet a little bit to put a clean shot on Karrin Pong area's dipping, but nowhere near to the level with Setu too. No way near. - Setu too was early on the ground. - And he gets him right around the neck, Braden Burns gets a couple of weeks. I'm happy with that. Correct call, bang. You don't have to go, you don't have to look at two different games and go, high tackle should be done exactly the same way. There are mitigating circumstances, and that's where Grey Area does come into it, and interpretation does come into it. When Setu too is catching the ball for bomb, and he is about up to my waist, and-- - He's a great, fucking short anyway. - He's tall in running. - He's pretty into him around the face. - He's tall a bit tall in running. - Yeah, even here, he's got him covered. Just got him covered. But yeah, that's my big part with it, so-- - I think you've nailed that. I'm not even gonna add anything on it. - Also, and this is another little good shout from John Crawford as well. Seven tackle set rule. So the recent adjustments to the seven tackle set rule should also include Miss Field Goals. If you miss a Field Goal, and it goes dead, all the balls corner goal should not result in seven tackles. So this one, Mace, I'd-- - Yeah, I don't know. What do you think about that? Is it still seven tackles? - No, so if you're attacking, so basically if you're having a tacking player and attacking kick now on the last tackle, and-- - You understand that in general play. - No, this is a new rule, no. So if you make an error trying to score, that is now deemed not a seven tackle set. Does that make sense? - Yeah, yeah, I got it. - So the rule used to be, just so you put your hand out to score a try. So what they're trying to do is eliminate, you know those negative plays with teams just running into the sideline, get tackled in the sideline, and then hand it over in the corner. They wanna see more-- - Trying to have a crack. - Having a crack, right? So if you extend your hand out, and it goes on the double one-- - Kick cross field, try and have a crack out here, 'cause knock on in the air. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - That's no over a seven tackle set in goals, right? Which is a great rule. But I agree with this. - I like that. - I don't mind this as well for dropouts. - Yeah, I think it's perfect. I thought that-- - I think this is what Therson was talking about. - Yeah, what did he say about that? - I'll let me find a question. - I don't mind that, but because you're like, that's, you know, you're legit trying to win the game there. - Exactly. - You're trying to win the game, so you should be penalized or anything like that. You should be seven tackles, so you get a chance to get up there and have a fair crack too, especially when it's a golden point. So like, 'cause six tackles won't get you, if you've got a good defensive set, won't it get you probably halfway? - Well, there you go. So two, seven tackles, I was critical of the way that the bulldogs didn't set up earlier to get in a shot and to have a take a shot. And it felt like the dragons were having more shots. And they were almost game one a little bit with it because Danuakinson hit a couple of really good ones. That landed a meter into the end goal. The bulldogs got a seven tackle set, and then were revenge for that. Whereas the bulldogs weren't even trying. Whereas I want place to get over halfway. I want to see literal Mitchell's of the world. - Yeah. - Not from 50 or 40 out without the threat of it landing a meter in the end goal line and then being penalized for a second. - No, I mean, the reason why Birdo wasn't in there 'cause of his hamstring, 'cause I can't even would have pumped it. - Yeah. - In those lap stages, it was in some trouble there, but yeah, that needs to be seven tackles because you've got the chance to ice the game and 'cause we've known for the last couple of years of the seven tackle rule, you can get in, you can get in, field goal range and you should be able to. So if your defense is just manning up and you win the first two or three, which you're supposed to, fuck me, you're only gonna get to like, maybe just before halfway. No one's doing that. No one's getting a 50, 60 meter field goal. Fatigue's everywhere, everyone's, so I think they need to, they're obviously not gonna change it, but they need to maybe next year. - That has come from Thurson. He was the Sunday, they didn't do the Sunday footy show, but the coverage. - What would he know about field goals? - Not fucking hell. - He's talked to the pros. - Hey, speaking of talk to the pros, let's talk to him. Let's talk to our man money. He's running it back this year. He got a huge clash coming up with the eels. I believe there was some news over the last couple of weeks and while we're in the storm in the eels as well. - I even know. - And he is on board and we wanna thank Compa who have graciously jumped on board as well. They are also what they're gonna do, mate. So for our comment of the year, you know how we reward our comment of the year with the golf day, they're gonna pay for all that. So, our man also unknown last year. If he was to fly down from Queensland and remember this is Australian New Zealand only, but Compa are gonna take care of everything. Flight to accommodation and the fees for playing on the day for you to come and join us on the golf day. - Good day. - Because Compa is Mexican for slang, which is for mate, which is for bro, for brother. It's the mate who's always there. It's the bloke who has you back and Compa are a huge part of our golf day as well. So here is Ken Munster, thanks to Compa and his Compa moment of the month. - Look at the small and his face. The money man, we are back. You mate, before we get into it, we've got a big announcement with a partnership that we're running this year at levels network. And you know what, I might just start this partnership by cracking a can, okay? This is the Compa Ranch Water, Tequila and Pine Lime. I'm gonna have a sip to the partnership. On our behalf mate, we know you're in season at the moment. You're sorry, you're about to start the season and all that. So I'm gonna do this on our behalf every episode. But yeah, there we go. There's a little cheers brother. - Oh, Tequila and Pine Lime. - Still got, first off, we'll get you all the details on Compa money. But first of all, I want to welcome you back again this year brother. Really looking forward to doing it with you again this year. And house things mate, like we'll get into more details but how you been, how's the summer been? - Yeah mate, it's actually been pretty hot in Melbourne surprisingly. It's raining probably the last three days which doesn't surprise me being in some of now, but it's been a pretty hot couple months for us as a team. We've had some hot days and we've had some long days mate. So yeah, look, it's all full steam ahead and comes Thursday. Obviously we're gonna speak about it a little bit later in the episode, but got the mighty Paramata Eels on Thursday and there's been a bit of spice coming around the traps to last couple months. So I'm sure we'll dive into a little bit later but how are you going mate, has the family? - Yeah, family's good mate and I'll tell you what all that drama. It's a little bit spicier. It's got a bit of compa feel about it. It feels like sometimes you just need to drop the shoulders. Everyone just needs to drop the shoulders and have a compa. Let me give you some details on compa before we get started for the season no money. So compa is a real tequila. It's not a Gavae spirit. It's the first to market in Australia. Six percent ranch water out. This is what I'm sipping on now and I'm gonna sip on it throughout the episode and I'm sure you wanted to you're gonna want to know this all our listeners are gonna want to know this what Compostans for so To kill up famous obviously in Mexico. It's Mexican slang for mate bro Brother and it's that mate that always turns up for you So that's what it represents money and that's what you are mate. You'll turn it up for us again in you too And we really appreciate it really we really appreciate the team of compa for jumping on board I will just know last year We were doing a segment where we caught up with both you and fozzie There's something in the works with fozzie that we're still trying to just finalize But we can confirm a hundred percent that compa are on board with you mate and we're stoked to have you back I thank you compa for obviously lay on us and do this potty again I really enjoyed it last year and I'm really excited for the next six months ahead and hopefully we Can get some nice viewership and hopefully we can give all the fans what they want to be the intel about Not only a compa moment of the week or couple of months and and giving a little bit more spice and a little more in In depth of of the season ahead Okay, all right, so we'll get to that later on in depth. We'll talk about the games we'll talk about Thursday night We're gonna start off with your compa moment of the month now You haven't played any meaningful yet footy yet. You've just had the one trial had a bit of a hit out sort of got the cobber It's out what about anything outside of life? I want a compa moment outside of the regular footy What seven o'clock in the morning the long days anything has been happening in your life away from footy mate? I don't think you can go past on me My compa moment of the month would be live golf. I was able to go again this year back to back years God live know how to make a make a festival make an event of golf Such a best harder than my probably my life to be fair last month. I reckon it's the best I've been a bit of been to an Australian. I know a lot of people been talking about magic around and talking about obviously Gab around with With AFL, but to me I just think it's the best of end of the been to you can Go there drink watch the watch your favorite players to play golf You can be Robin Schollers with them pretty much watching them from a meter away where you look at the Australian open or The NFL going for all you still a fair way away away in the stands where if you want to go watch Broughtson to Tango or or John Ram or something you can literally stand a meter away from them and pretty much feel it and hear the ball and And then after that you've got some great DJs after them after the event and Looking after watch fish last year and Watch the guy from the Pomi from the Pomi land. I'm British. I'm using the young sun and so It was a great night. I mean, I'm glad I got home. They train the next day on Sunday because Ripper one the team event and I'm just part of got away from that because I was hanging around Maddie and Cooper John's Baton. Yeah, I've got some nice stories and videos and then I live golf was a great time Okay, so we got some we got some footage. We got some photos. I did see you hanging around both Maddie and Cooper And that was and that's the hookup right because you've got the connection now with cam Smith and the Ripper team They actually won the event One of the the best stories in sports this year. I think is Anthony Kim winning the solo event But the Ripper is also won the team event too, which was cool for you because that's your attached to on in back-to-back years with Luke golf Yeah, well, I was lucky enough for brave and Justin master. I know cams should have made Queensland I was lucky enough to give him a plan more jersey from origin. So He's actually got a pretty big back. He's actually a big boy cam Smith. He couldn't fit the jersey. So Being a good sport he put it on but he couldn't breathe So I mean wanted to do a bit more back work just capy boy, but um Nick Adams is actually like the 40 manager or the golf manager for Ripper golf and My name is rebraith and Justin and he's a Ripper guy and no pun intended and He's just absolutely one of the lads and yeah, he asked me to get bring Cooper and Maddie along and that a great time and Yeah, it was a great time for Ripper and I've had a great couple of tournaments like one The individual one in the Hong Kong, but they won the team event in Australia. So Full-stem had for Ripper and there's only big things to come for them this year Hopefully I wish them all the best and yeah, hopefully I get an opportunity to go next year Yeah, you love it made like a that's back-to-back years now is a something that you want to put on your calendar It's at an awkward time for you too because it is at the start of the year But like you said you still were able to go down there have a bit of fun come back and get some hard training done on the Sunday as well Yeah, well, we always had the Wednesday off And they'll play that pro-am but I didn't trust myself for the pro-am. I probably killed some of the side of the road The way I'll be knitting them, but I've had furzat for what I started I off so I'm yeah, I was lucky enough to see go and go down there and have washed a little bit of golf, but Yeah, it's a great event like I spoke about and you see so many guys and even women going to these events now too so Box parties. I just love a way of people dressed in the same kit and get around it and I know there would be about 10 to 15,000 people on in rattleay on this main party strip Because this is ridiculous and now I know people don't that bring it to Melbourne or Sydney, but I think When you talk about the Melbourne cart, this Melbourne, do whatever it is since Sydney. I always think I live golf It means a stand out of late and yeah, it was a great concept and I'll be gone for the next 10 years of farm and what if that's me Well, I'll tell you what um, I could have you know, I've got a there's a box party coming up soon, mate So I could give you a good excuse there. That's one of the best excuse ever to jump up to jump on a box party That could make sense mate. So we'll see if we can get that work And we'll see what happens hey a big season coming up for the storm um A couple of guys that have been really instrumental to what you've done over the last couple of years or almost a decade in big Nelson and puppy finishing up That sort of caught a lot of people off guard. I know there was rumors about at the end of the year But they've been a huge part of your team ever since you've been there and then obviously everyone was devastated and sympathetic to alley guitarist situation for the Tongan team at the end of the year um How has it been make getting back into camp because when you lose leadership like that in different ways Uh, do you take it upon yourself? Have you been a lot more vocal this offseason and how is the Disorder new younger group been handling a bit of adversity this year in the in the offseason that's could potentially um, you know come with some hurdles throughout the year. Yeah, look as disappointing we lost so much leadership and so much game experience for Nelson and Paps Yeah, look like us as a leadership group probably have to take a little bit more work on it and take a little bit more obviously on the brunt of the Of the ownership of the team now and take a bit more leader in roles and certain spots that we can probably do like with your Josh Kings and yeah Your Harry Grant's program to up there level even more in the middle um and hopefully they're merging so frankly arrow this year He's on the leadership group. I mean, we're gonna need a little bit more from him this year in the middle He's been great for his last couple of years But he needs to probably take that next step for us. I think for us to be A force um for us as a backstair. I think me and i mean you use you just could be more game management for so long I think Losing power seems a bit more of an outtanker and a bit more outside the box the way we're about things and the way you prepared and Was so uh? I mean, is this electric and lucid with the ball and um it reminds me of a bit of a young billy slay day, you know To get to about the about the the small little things and how fast he is at the back of shape and how electric and How exciting he is and um if it gets very quickly on errors he makes and he reminds me a little bit of recie roles too, you know I'm just got that x factor random and when they make an error you sometimes people dwell on him and and Hold on to it for a long time, but he's not one of them guys so system probably more men he's eternal I'm a state energy of sewer and trying to put it in the right places and trying to get him to excel and in the ways we want him to excel You know, we can't afford to be Give him the ball all the time Um, but when we do need him to execute and and be able to score those points We're gonna be able to do that consistently and we've been working on that um Ali katala. Yeah, look at sir. It's an interesting one. He's such a positive guy He's now doing these studies for becoming the blue shirt for us. So He's still gonna be around the team this year. I thought this show is the motivation and work that he wants Yeah, he's for someone like Ellie's condition or Ellie's like story. It's pretty pretty crazy, you know Can we sit there kicking cans and then we should probably show you should be kicking cans that's the way it all happened But he's moved on and trying to get himself better and getting himself prepared and he's been training with us non-contact obviously But um, he's just been such a great positive role model around the group and this gives a bit more of an as expected for us So I think for us in preseason, you know With kicking cans winging about out tough it is how fast how hard it is tackling contact running doing these long days But when you hear Ellie talk about I don't realize it in rehab or alternate Yeah, he's like about these boys would love to be out there training with you. So It's a great fresh like perspectives that he comes and brings his group sometimes and chose us how lucky we are and Um, for him to be around the group still and and giving that positive energy around the When the group is just gonna make us better and more motivated and it's filming out the moment and we're looking forward to those I know you've had yeah, there's there's a number that you can a number of stuff that you covered there I was gonna get those are some huge comps some huge compass by the way comparing our sewer farm out to to Recy Walsh and and some traits that Billy has money um, I guess he was going to be a big question for me as well because not to say that you can now is an now son and alianne easily replaced but puppy is a quarter unique position because um, you know the fullback role there's probably there's more there's more options in the forwards to cover Nelson and Ali is my point. So it's good to see sewer has shown heaps of potential over the last couple of years, both for you guys and for some I. So a lot of people were excited to see him get a proper crack at the full back spot. Yes, it's an interesting one that we gave sewer the opportunity to take that one with the open hands. You got to feel breathing that is neck, but yeah, I just think the way he's been going about is pretty and at training like he gets passed through four defenders very quickly with the way he luchly moves and how fast he is at it back a shape. So yeah, look, you'll see it full hand on Thursday night and hopefully you can reach some havoc on the palm of the ears. But yeah, I've got a lot of praise from a very quiet humble kid. I got a lot of energy about him when he's on the field and stuff, but when he won along with him, he's such a genuine kid. Once the learn happy to listen and yeah, we all happy there. It was a good ball play, I'm very electric and always involved. As a matter of trying to, you know, evolve, saw his game and be able to put in because at times when I first come through as a full back, he was a bit hesitant on calling plays or kind of sitting back, alobading for the moment that happened where perhaps probably most of the time wanted to make the moment happen when he was very confident he didn't have those head knocks. So so has got that in him. It's just a matter of just finding that finally feet and making him more confident enough to be able to call plays when he sees something, you know, and he'll eventually get that in his game. It took me a little bit, I'm sure it'll take him a little bit, but more me and Huzi can get him around the park and put him in spot state. We know he's absolutely dynamite out is what we need to do with me and Huzi. So if we can do that on Thursday night, you'll watch him shine. We didn't plan for this as well when I sent you the notes, but I've seen that the teamless has just come through. A name that stands out is Moses Leo. You told me about him a couple of years ago, Rob Yunion Convert. He's going to get a crack in the centers. I sort of goes for some of the more notable names as well with some of the stuff we talked about. So was at fullback, Joe Chen and Ati Valu Lassardi are in the back row. So there are a couple of names that people were sort of watching for. And then you also told me when I was, I messaged all the boys, one player from each team, I said, oh, boys, a couple of the vets. Tell us about some younger kids coming through. And you mentioned Cooper Clark as well when he's got a spot on the bench. Sort of tell us about, let's start off with Moses Leo. Just quickly, just a quick sort of a little bit on that. Moses Leo, Joe Chen, Lassardi and then Cooper Clark. Because feel like those three guys will be back with each other all year. Yeah, obviously come to fruition. Not a bad summary for myself, Tonya, who's in the team. And Moses Leo, I think for me, he's just a great kid. He's a good one on one. He comes from, obviously rugby sevens. So he's very fit. Always around the ball runs hard. Very intelligent guy. And Moses understands rugby league and understands rugby in. And I just think he's a 40-player. It's good to have him in the center's look. He's going to be a name that all people have been mentioned around for the next couple of years. I think he's going to do some great things. And hopefully we can get the best set of him and be able to bring out his strengths. Cooper Clark, I spoke about it before. He's a fit man. He's still a young kid. He's probably one of our best players for Jersey's Flake last year. And they won the comp. Fortunately, he's a new South Valsam night, but he's probably the best front row that comes through the game the last couple of years. And we've got massive reps on him. And he's up there with Harry and myself and Hugo with the way we've done about our fitness. And for a big guy like that, to be able to stay with some of the outside backs and fitness. He's got a bit of an engine on him. Valu, Valu is just a worker. Someone that Bill Ack loves. I love playing with Valu. He brings so much energy and so much positive vibes around that left edge. And unfortunately, with what's glory to suspension, but also injury to his ankle. So he's still going a few couple weeks away. But he's really taking that backrow spot his own Valu. And hopefully we can build that competition in the next couple of weeks and build on that. I'm really excited with what we've been able to achieve at training at the moment. Joey is a bit of a different model. He's a bit of more of a row kind of guy. He's very aggressive in the fans. Runs really good lines. He's got a good leg speed. He reminds me a little bit of a, you know, taken Preston. Like those good line runners, very good in his feet. So yeah, we got a good little, he's got a good outside, outside backrower, outside in. So yeah, look, he's got another one out there. I hope he can produce what he did with Ali because we all know what Ali was able to achieve was easy and be a dynamite edge if we can get them going and humming again. Also a big wrap for LaSati. I've seen that he made your emerging leaders group too. So I feel like belly in your club. You don't throw those around Willie Nilly. So he's only been there for a couple of years. That's great science for what he's been doing at the club. Everyone loves Father in the club. He's such a great guy. Very humble, works hard. Talks are talking, he does those little effort areas like Beliag was big. Like dozen talks about in our team and the reason why he's in our 17 and you see his debut against the Cowboys the way he ran some lines on that right side and hopefully I can unearth him in this week on Thursday and obviously the weeks to come. What about the, so let's get to this week. Big ups. I'm just looking at the line up. Let's get it back up when I'll confirm. I tried to pes it. He's on the other side. He knows you guys will. Good morning yours. Jason Riles is coach there. He doesn't want to bar him. He's been all this. Oh, they've been brushing your half day. No, no, no, this team up. I'll have to go on the other side. Does it not try and find him? That'll be good to see. I can't wait. Hey, there's obviously been all the off-field stuff. But at the end of the day, players don't care about that. I'm happy to even answer that for you. You just want to get out there. This is the round one of the NREL season and you're going up against the team who finished the season unbelievably last year money. Jason is doing great things there. And again, another little caveat to chuck in there. Beliag's unbelievable record and your record too, I suppose, because you've been underfeated as well in round one. So many good storylines for this matchup mate. What most exciting about this moment, Mitch Moses on the other side, your tour mate from the Australian, from the Asher's tour. I'm sure you got to know him really well over there. So there's so much good stuff in this matchup mate. Yeah, the coming of blockbusters after all the stuff that means peek about with low max and obviously the club. And yeah, looking at spending a lot of hand lines. I'm lucky. Spoke about it. We don't really care about the headlines. Look, it's probably not the greatest media to build up a preparation for a game, but I guess as Gerrard's you got a cell paper. So that's the job the cell papers and get cookbait where we're out there getting paid to play some good footies. So yeah, look, it's going to be a bit of feeling between Rawlsie and Beliag with all the stuff that's been going on. But I know Rawlsie probably deep down behind him and we wouldn't be saying this all. But he'd love to say that he got one up on Beliag in round one. I think that would be something that obviously he was the next guy lying probably after Beliag get the storm. So he got a head coach or a parent. He's doing some great things and you've seen a lot of players behind to what Rawlsie was all about the back end of the year and it worked well. And if you probably had Maui at the start off the season, their season kind of looked a lot different, you know, so they got the same out players in Calibur and without low max, but they picked up some some handy players and Brian Kelly. So and then for also that was so long he that's getting another year fullback. He's showing some good some good highlight reals and some good stuff with the ball in hand. So we're going to have a hand full, but we're looking forward to the challenge and I'm not probably going to give them a chance this year. So yeah, we got to make sure we kind of forward to be complacent on Thursday because there's a lot of pressure on us being around one win. But that's an outcome base. So we just go away with ourselves and our performance and if we can do that, everything will take care of himself from there. Well, love it brother. Love doing this with you mate. We're doing it again this year. It's only going to be once a month too. So let everyone know it's going to be once a month this year. So we'll catch your first week of April. I would say all the best for you against the eels on Thursday, but I think Lukis off here. He's behind the camera at the moment and he's off here at the moment because he's a he's a diehard of your fan. But it's going to be you know what, it's going to be a proper it's going to be a proper compa moment from the world famous to kill in this episode with money has been brought to you by a Compa Ranch water and we really enjoyed them being on this year all the best on Thursday money. Thanks for what is thanks to me and really appreciate any lightweight to do then. Obviously an episode once a month mate. So thank you, Compa and man, we're looking forward to it and hopefully we can bring some exciting stuff in the next couple of months. All right, let's get some replies. The Vegas crowds. What do we think about the Vegas crowds? I wonder if that's that fucking great. I think it's gone now. Yeah, it's got Vegas crowds. I will I'll just say I just think they need to get the teams in order. I tell what we what I think that's all you got to get a pomii team in the last game. What we didn't talk about on Monday was if you're in the Legion, remember when we were there once you're in you can't get out. Yeah, that's a thing. And then it's 20 US, a schooner. That's the problem. So if you're there for three games, yeah, no, no, we said because we were there and we were lucky because we were in a suite, right? And so it wasn't really affected. You've got to fly over there first of all. It's going to cost you like 10 to 15 grand accommodation, all that kind of stuff. Then you get to the game, right? You know, if you're staying at Cosmo Resort World, that's free piss if you're playing if you're playing a game or something like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's just say you can just sit there and drink all day for free or you're playing. paying 20 bucks a beer, you ain't in line the whole time. So you're gonna watch your team and you're pissing off straight away. It's Saturday night in Vegas. You can watch the fucking thing in the sports bar. - Okay. - So there's a few little things. - This is, I've gotta read this comment 'cause Harlem was there last year and he greets you with your mates. Hey boys, just a quick one on the Vegas games. I think while footy fatigue definitely contributes to the crowd numbers, ultimately I think it comes down to Vegas itself. And somebody went as a wise fan. I always wanted many fans that were purely there to see our team play and head back to Vegas to explore. Vegas has so much to offer and a lot of fans aren't there long enough to be able to dedicate a whole day to teams. They don't support. I'm not sure how you combat this, but I think there's too much going on in Vegas. How about this from Hayden? If you wanna keep everyone in the stadium for all three games, give away a big lucky seat prize, 20 grand. - No, that's insane. - No one's leaving until that's been drawn. - Yep, and I think things like that, you need to know it 'cause it is a problem at the end of these games. We're looking at the game. They don't look good for the game, right? I know it's all about the views and shit, but I want like 50 grand, that 50,000 people there, something like that, even if it's 50 grand. - As if PaveSeek and sponsor. - 50 grand, as if someone, some massive sponsor couldn't do that. 50 grand for the lucky seat, you're staying there. - I love that show. I've heard people talking about it on radio and different podcasts. And everyone's throwing out spending and a couple of mil on getting an act to turn up it. In the middle of the second and third game, like a huge one, Luke comes to the world and you're paying two or three mil or whatever it may be. - Yeah, 'cause there's a lot of fun. Fans don't give a shit about like, yeah, we call to see that and those half good options. But if you tell them like, you're there and there's gotta be some way to monitor them there being all day as well. - We just gotta. - If you know you go a fucking 50 grand or 100 grand for a, you know how Pat McAfee for College Game Day, he does the kicks before the game. - Imagine if you had a lucky seat prize, just say go 50 grand at half time of every game for a drop goal from 20 meters, 30 meters out. - You gotta have that. - You gotta engage. - You'd wanna be at stadium. - You gotta engage the fans. You have to, they're not engaged. They're there for their team, they're in Vegas and they're fucking go mad. The mindset is you watch your team. Yeah, it's great, but you're in Vegas. You are not in fucking Penrith or if I can paramount of stadium, you know, you're in Vegas, you wanna fucking go nuts. I get it, right? - But what do you wanna do in Vegas? You wanna gamble too. - Fucking do your one in Vegas. - I don't wanna spend you in the US, I'll spend. - You're a fan. - It's the fucking mecca. If you paid that much money to go there, Mace, and at half time of all three games, there's a $50,000 prize, lucky seat. All right, you are drawing lucky seat. So you've got to be at all three games to get three opportunities to win. - Get your at half time. - That's at half time. - You can get 20 meter field goal. 'Cause you can still miss it too, right? - Yeah, fuck that. Just the lucky seat, just being the seat. - No, no, I get that. - You need the time. - Well, no, so at half time, every, I think at a half time, you get like a lucky seat, get out there and get 10 or 20 grand, but then there's a massive prize at the end. - You can double it. - You can double it. - No, no, just something where you gamble. - Because people are in Vegas. - Exactly, something like that. You know, and you can get engaged to fans. You wanna get there, you will stay there. Just in case. - There you go, PBL. - PBL. - I've solved it. - There's like, make it 100 grand. 100 grand. Pat McAfee does like, - KSC or something like that. - Sometimes he does like, and he'll be all like a big one's when it, like it's snowball, so it gets like a bigger and bigger every week, if it's what they call it. - So first game, and then it's snowballs into the second game, yeah. - 20, 40, 60. - That actually is a great idea. - I think we just, is that a whole Vegas trip? - That was, yeah, good one. Good share, we made it better, but, we hated that point. - Hated Shell and all. You made a stink, mate, you made a stink haven. - Yeah, we worked on that as a team, and we weren't even gonna bring it up, so good work. I hear some options for Drinky as well. Matt D wrote, "Hey, Lades, with the injury to drink water, "wouldn't this be the time to have a look at young Mason Baba?" He was the full back to play the intro of the first trial mace. This would allow Purgu to keep his reps up in the centers. Don't hate that either. That's if Drinky doesn't play. - Yeah, Mason Baba, I saw him play. Like I mean, it could be related to Benny Baba somewhere, I think. - Astuban. - Are you more harsh on Mason Baba because he's got your name and his first name? - He better be out. - He named up you. - He got of me. - He has to be. No, but I think, depends how much trust I got in that man, the young kid. - He looks alright. - He looks alright. - Yeah. - But, depending on Drinky's obviously his availability, who was the other kid? - I don't mind Purgu, full back mate. I still think that's his probably his position. - So he is my thing on it. - I don't know who, sorry, I just don't know who the left center is, but Vaila. - Vaila has not been playing. Labe, Mr. First game as well. Liam Sutton would be another option. - Would he be left center mate as a big body? - I'll get this one for you mate, because I actually didn't mind either of him. And I like the take on it as well because if Drinky's ribcage, torture, but you will be back in a couple of weeks. So rather than changing two positions, you're just bringing in a specials full back. Who else was the other kid that went well? - Well, you think of that, he is definitely no related to Ben. - No. - I just don't think, so Mason Baba, he's only trialled in first grade, hasn't he? - And Credence Toia was the other kid who looked pretty good as well. - Yeah, it's a big jump from a reserve grade ball dogs game to NRL. So obviously he's got to do his reps. They would know way better than asked if he's killing it in QCUP and all that kind of stuff. - Yeah. - He's got a young kid. You got to do your reps in QCUP, not just one game. Unless they're just projecting him the B of a full back after Drinky or something like that, which I don't think they are. So I'll be going and purge you at full back. I just like him attacking both sides of the rock. He's a fucking player. He can just, he's a good, he backs up, good during in the middle, gets out wide. He's got really silky hands as well. - Pajou and Fletcher shot remind me of each other. They just compete on everything. - You don't understand. - And you're like, fuck what's the best position? - You know that the annoying him, when you know when you play condition game. - That's killing. - It's fucking, you can touch him. - That'd kill it. 'Cause it just, the biggest strength is what you talk about all the time. They just get enough for the game. They're just always there. So that's, and because they both had halves, they grew up playing in the halves. It's serving them well when they play. - It's still set. - It's full back the skill set. - Yeah. - Hey, oh, by the way, to the term that I was trying to get and I just couldn't get it off my tongue, shepherd. - Shepherd. - Classic shepherd. That's what, that's what, what's the name did? Clifford did. - Yes. - He ran a shepherd behind coyote on all. It affected Germain Michion. And that was the term I was looking for. I just couldn't get it off the tip of my tongue. - Well, we talked about, I could just, can obstruction and we had everything go. - Yeah, as soon as I read the comment, as I can pretty quickly, it's annoying to, when I send a shepherd. - Yeah, fuck, shepherd. - That's right. Hey, Papa Marcos, it's all today. So get him in. Well, I'll tell you what, I had a, I had a really good week with Papa Marcos this week. Just really, like, - I can't, I was looking, I didn't look at you all, I didn't know that was the menu. I said, "What the fuck are you looking at?" - So, I don't know. I said, "Where are they?" I need to get on the, I need to get on the fucking website. - So, so this is what Mace has been doing. So, when Luki, and this is, I guess sometimes when I write stuff, Mace doesn't always read or listen to stuff in our messages. So, - I like the food that they give him anyway, but I didn't know they had that option. - So, Luki goes, "Hey, when we signed up with Papa Marcos, "you know, we get our meals, I go on, "and I have a look at the menu, "and it changes every month, so go on." So, I go on and, "Oh, that looks good, so let's get it up. "I'll give you a few examples." - By the way, Luki gave me a good one that I've bought this week. - Japanese, this look good. - We didn't talk about it on air, Chili con can. - Oh, have you, did you have it? - I had it for the first time this week, it was good. - It was fantastic. But Luki gets the meal pack, so there are, - I get the lean pack. - The lean pack, you got it. - That's what I must get. - Yes. - 'Cause you asked for the same thing. - Yeah, I don't know, but I didn't know that, the other options. - So, you don't have to think about it. So, this, I'll tell you what I've got, that's the Mickey this week. I've had the Japanese beef fried rice. - That's good. - I had the spaghetti beef for good. - That one as well. - I had chef Steve's Mediterranean lamb. - All right. - That's a new addition I believe. - Yeah, that's a new gun. So good. - You do mine next week? - Yes. - And just do whatever you want. - Well, I'm doing it today for some time. - Anything just, just no seafood. - Okay. Okay, no seafood for you this week. Hey, if this is the first time I'm in your excited, is excited as Macy's. - Have a look at it, - I have a look at it in the box this week and put in it on the menu. You can put in the code [email protected]. That's the level30 that'll get you $30 off the first box. When you do return levels 10, is the code for you. Same website, pappamacros.com.au 10% off all future orders. We love having pappa macros on for the season. - Awesome. Couple of YouTube questions. And this is just a reminder for people, but we get this a lot when we look at it clips leaky. It comes for what form in? Hey boys, I have been listening to since day one. New boys are the first stop for Rugba. League news for me. But if I could just give some feedback, yes, you could what form in? The one thing that can be a little annoying is when you are showing a play to Willie at Skype, the new cast will mind, but not showing it to us. It would be great if you could edit into the video or something like that or an overlay. So we get all the context of the situation. I remember it from life, but can't pinpoint the exact things you're talking about. So it can be hard to follow along. Cheers boys, like a body, keep it up. So, what form in? Luke, you can elaborate on this a little bit more, but there is fair use. So we can't use it in the podcast sometimes. Luke, it's not into it's on YouTube, right? That's when you're able to grab clips sometimes. Yes, specific moments. Like you can go to NREL.com to watch the game. Yes. I need a reference it from YouTube sometimes for a clip. Yeah. Yeah, so it's hard. And also we can't take large chunks out either. Yeah, I don't. like using much footage. - Yeah, look, yeah, they're gonna go a little bit easier on the footage and everything. I think is there any chance that they give the footage to the protesters or anything like that? - As long as you don't take the picture. - No, as long as you, Luke, he doesn't take the picture long. - Oh, we don't sit there and fucking have a 10 minute long reel or anything like that, do we? - No, there were people that were, maybe sorry, 'cause we would love to do that and proper break it down. - Yeah, so that's what I was about to say. A couple of years ago, there were people that were doing breaking down the videos and they got taken out straight away. 'Cause the broadcast was like, "Oh, the fuck, but if you don't take the piece and you just put, you know, Luke, you will do a click, we'll try to use more photos than you. - My MBA allowed to do that. - MBA, we've got a pretty open licensing business. - But I just think it helps the game. - Yeah, if you've got us or like any other podcast and Maddie Jones breaking games down on his podcast or jammer or anything like that, it's something you can help people understand the game and watching it. It's all connecting back to NREL. That's all we're trying to do. But Maddie and they probably be, even Maddie with his own independent podcast with the Coops. - Yeah, no one does it. 'Cause you're not allowed, obviously. - Yeah, he would even have to be mindful of it, but I'd imagine that you just don't take the piece. That's the big thing from it. So sometimes when we watch stuff, we just, we don't want the whole episode to get taken down or we don't want a whole good clip taken down just because we extend it for a 30 second clip where you get the point of it to Luke, he's one that he did yesterday for me for Stephen Crichton going up to there. What do we do? We show the highlights that everyone sees on all their pages with the try and then just a little two or three seconds of critic Adam talking about to get my point across. - All right, slow down, I use a phrase frame or something. - Yeah, go back and watch it. - Hey boys, wanted to hear your thoughts on the extended bench from the punters perspective. Bronx have named Jesse Yathes and Grant Anderson. On their bench, do you see Reserve Wing is potentially getting garbage minutes weekly or purely if a starter goes down? And it's scope, do you see this affecting your mouth? He's responsible, of course. Love your work, Jens, and a conflicted punter. Jess Smith, you've got to be a little bit more switched on. You've got to pay attention. So I've got my mouthies for this week. Again, we're back with the tab Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If there are any injury concerns not to say that it's always going to be perfect 'cause they're always like changes in game. So you've got to be mindful of especially with the six man bench. I'm very aware now of the six man bench and making sure any play that I pick, I don't want to have any injury concerns going into it with the six men. That's how I'm going to be punting with my mouthies. So it's a bit unusual, Grant Anderson and Jesse Yathes 'cause they're purely outside backs. I mean, I know they've got a pretty big bench, but you don't know with the HIAs and everything. You'd want one of those guys to be able to play in the middle or on an edge. I see if they've taken it. They can't. No, they haven't trimmed it down yet. So I don't think just because they're 18 and 19 too, it won't get trimmed down until 24 hours. So eight o'clock tonight. So number 20, 21, 22 is in now. It's implied. So when they have a couple of train sessions all that sort of should. Here's what I reckon will happen. On the bench that got Penny Hunt, Xavier Wilson, Toltzies, actually the clock could cover across the board. Maybe that's what I'm saying. That's why they pick two like outside backs. They can't afford to be if it'll be like, come on, just give me one middle 'cause you know, no, it could be a syndrome. It's a little debacle. Here we go, most of you. This is look at the bench. All looks tougher. Ben told me that I could listen. Yeah, this way. And then you've even got Penny Hunt coming everywhere. Whoa, 96 and seven. So then they can just get you know what? Couple of the outside. Just like the office is fucking non-lucky, you know? Yeah. He's, I think he's got a spot. Oh, fuck you. Mariner and Garapana. Garapana, just like Garapana took it last year. And Dave Mariner. Well, they do. What's being done on with the paramedic? Garapana. You ready to get to it? I'm mad at paramedic. I love it. It's fucking getting juicy and juicy. That's that. So Ryan Madison's contract to me end is what's something the Lomax deals. So, Maes, it is near official. Zach Lomax will not be going to Melbourne storm. At least unless there's something drastically changes. It's been reportedly derailed by a teammate and exuse South Wales player, Ryan Madison, was a big part of the, some of the terms. Ryan Madison's come out and spoke about it after. So then we'll, I'll read out his statement. So Lomax settled his legal battle with the Yils on Tuesday. He agreed that he will not return to the NRL until a year was taken off. So he got a year taken off the three years, which is I guess a plus for him. So we'll see him back sooner rather than later. As per the terms, in the end, paramatter of Melbourne were unable to strike a deal. And it was revealed that Madison, who proved to be the deciding factor. Ryan Madison factor is the biggest factor. It's the mitigating factor. Now initially, there was a $300,000 offer, which was started at one, two, three hundred, to the paramatter Yils. And then they were also going to take the contract of store of Ryan Madison, which was. - Melbourne was? - Estimated at four hundred. Yeah, it's quite a unique situation, but not having a deal. - But not either either. - But not paid out. - So he's a free agent. - No, no, no, no, no. That's not my name. That's not my name. I'll tell you what some stuff that I wouldn't do. So it was one you deal with an option for a second, right? So I think Madison has an option potentially. It sounds like he's got an option in his favor. - Yeah. - And Melbourne won't maybe. - No, there'll be any option. If you didn't have a gun, you'd have flicking. - So it says that Ryan wanted the guarantee of a second year, not just the option. The storm would not guarantee the second year, and it's fallen over because Ryan won't go there. Now, this is from Ryan Madison's words. These are his official statements. And he posted this on a hearing. For several weeks, I've been away from the club managing percussion symptoms under the care of neurologists who was guiding me through my 10-year career. During this time, I deal a deal that did not directly involve me was negotiated for several months by Paramount or Melbourne. Over this period, I was not once formally consulted. I'm sure you would have seen his name tossed about and we've all seen his name thrown in in the last couple of weeks. The first official notification I received from anyone came last Friday from Melbourne Storm, for which brief discussions were held and concluded the same day. It wasn't until a Sunday afternoon where a deal was tabled, and I was expected to make a career defining decision. I was before a high-profile court hearing the following morning. I respect both clubs and hold no-o-toward anyone involved, including Zach, however, it has been difficult to see the public narrative unfold in what suggests I was central to a process I was not a part of, particularly without being given prior notice or reasonable time to consider a decision of the magnitude while also managing a serious head injury. I was not a part of these negotiations yet. It seems I'm the one once been held responsible for the outcome. I was the last to know and the first to be blamed. - Fuck, I'm with him. - It's all mine. - Yeah, he shouldn't have even been put in his position. It's not his fault. He's got two more years left. Some decent coin there. He wants to play, he's at the back end of his career. Once he wants to play some good football, right? I'm not sure if he's in roles, he's plans or not, but clearly not. - Clearly not, right? But he's probably gonna stand on, you know, on his talent and trying to force his way into the team and all that sort of shit, but like, it's a hard one for him. - Big time. - Yeah, I would be like, "No, fuck you, I'm staying." - I love the statement. - Yeah, it's good. - I love the statement. I love that he's come out, he's clarified it. - Yeah, I like it. - I've always been of the opinion that I'm not opposed to Zach Lomax playing football anywhere else. And if there was a deal that made sense for both clubs, but that's also got to make sense for either player X coming from the Melbourne storm who wants an opportunity who might not be playing or might get a contract extension. That works for them. I've always been of that opinion. Or if you're the paramedic Ilves and you wanna unload some cap because Ryan Madison is out of favor, then Ryan Madison's gonna want to have to go. Like you can't force the player to go. So Ryan Madison is in a position where he can dig his heels in. Now, if-- - I'm sorry, do you wanna play reserve grade? Like he has been for the last couple of years and just like 'cause of injuries, he gets a crack. 'Cause I think he's the first grader. I would be like, if Melbourne wanted me right now, if I was him just for that one year, I'd back myself down there, have a killer year and sign a tool for you to year somewhere else. - I'm so confused he didn't take it. - Yeah, that's what-- If I look at it like that, I understand his statement then, I went, okay, that's fair enough. He got nothing to fucking do with it. Then I'm thinking, I've been watching him for the last couple of years, he's been banged up, head knocks, maybe time for a fresh start. And if Melbourne was someone who wanted me, go down there right now, they're gonna pay my 400 or whatever. And I'll be back myself massively to if I can get back to whatever got him with Origin Jersey. And then it can finish his career off and another two, three contract. You know what I mean? I'll be back him and so I'm not saying they're playing fucking reserve grade for Paramata. Rolsey clearly doesn't fucking like him. Or he's not in the plans because he was in-- He was the old plan. This is not Rolsey's plan. - The part that confuses me and I'll get into more detail with it, Mace. If I'm Ryan Madison and this opportunity gets offered to me, now Ryan Madison's a little bit different as well. He's always been a bit of a different cat. So he thinks a little bit differently, like you gotta consider that. And I was nowhere near the player of Ryan Madison's talent as well. I wanna clarify that. - Take him play. - But, because he's a replay, take him play. - Take him play. - If I wanna get, if I'm Ryan Madison right now, I wanna get revenge on the eels. So how do you get revenge on the eels? You go down and you play with either Jerome Hughes or Cameron Munster, because this spots up for grabs down there. - They need to edge back row, man. - They need to edge back rowers. Ati Valella Sardis unproven. Jo Chan is unproven. - He walks into the start and back row spot. - There was, I am told there was a genuine opportunity for him to go down and play. [BLANK_AUDIO] compete. I'm not not given to him, mate. No, no, no, fuck, no, nothing's given to you down there. I don't understand like I know where he sits in Paramata. Yeah. He's fucking knowing no in here in the plans of Jason Riles, right? So if I had a, and this is what makes me question like storm with their Fed, I'm on him, right? Like they were, he's silly for making this decision. I am really confident that he would have been given an opportunity to 100% believe you. So he's fucked up because there's a spot there because Catalan's out for the year. Yep. Right. And then the other back row, you've got 10, you've got blower out, you can roll in there, you can play like where you can play back row. Fuck in a team like that made the graph final for the last two years. I'll throw on another part of it as well. Like yeah, you go down there. There's an opportunity. Not only can you thrive in one of the most competitive teams in the last 25 years you get coached by Bellamy. It's set you up. You're in a really good position for like what, how old is Ryan Madison? Have a look. I should have got this for 29. I reckon he'd been like 20 roosters, right? Good system. Play one. 29. 31. 31. So you've got a good three, three years left. Any? Yeah. Because he hasn't played that much football. He went to Super League last year. Who do you play for in the Super League? He did like a back end of the year in Super League. Three. I won't. And then he came back. Everyone assumed it was done. Sammy loved him. Came back to preseason. Yeah. And the last bit, Mason, just before we finish off. And by the way, like it's just because like I think that's the best for Ryan Madison. If he watched the Diggy's Hills in the next day a bit, but another part is like, because this happens all the time, but no means the part that I was critical of when we're discussing the Zach Lamax situation is he made a decision to leave the code. It was a mutual decision. That was contract made. I'm not naive to think that deals don't happen all the time. And we always stick up for players. You get fucked over mates because it happens for every club. So even though I'm an ex-parapter, I will say the situation with Ryan Madison is a little bit fucked as well, right? Like we can I can be I can be grown up enough to say that. But if I was Ryan Madison, I'd be looking at like a fine mindset would be fuck you, Para. I'll go down the Melbourne and guess what if I'm the last part of this deal, I'm going to be fucking over Paris well because that means Zach Lamax going to Melbourne as well. I would have looked at it. Like if we're boys, Mason, like who knows is Madison and Limax boys? I don't know. I'm not saying they're not, but like let's go down the Melbourne and fucking get these scots. I would have thought that would be. I would have thought if I was Madison, it's a blessing in the Scott. What a blessing. Melbourne wants me. I think fuck I can get out of here and place some meaningful football. Big time. Not getting fucking thrown out and go to Vorinston, play reserve grade and getting called up and playing off the bench. I've got a genuine starting position down there. I can fight for one. Scott Talent, mate. Yeah. Need to be coached and he's at right system. He fucked around at the Tigers. No dog shit. He went to Paramata, dog shit. No domain, like he had. Now he can go to Melbourne. No, I disagree with that. I disagree with that. There's going to be accountability for that because he's being another player that's moved around. I'm the first to Tigers and he pubs of dog shit. I'm saying that he's all the situation in that dog shit. The situation plus him. All right. Yeah. Didn't he didn't help himself by taking that fucking arm. It was the fine. Taken the weeks. Yeah, that's what. Yeah. Yeah. That that hammered him and coached him to get that right. Little things like that when you're taking that. That was Brad Arthur regime. Yeah. I know. You can just just the character. The blight on your character. Yeah. Yeah. So like, Rolsey would look at that from outside in a, I know. Even though I didn't like that, I wouldn't hold that against him for the rest of his fucking grief is depend, but depends if there's Mr. Meena. I'm not Mr. Meena. If there's a, all right, this is a little personality thing. This is like the again, go to my point. Right. He's Brewsters. I think that that potentially finished early. Hey, why not? The Tigers finished early. Tiger's been really. You won the Grand Final in 2019. Yeah. Then he went over to Tigers for 2020, 2019, 22 or something like that. Yeah. And then Paramata. I think you might have signed a big deal off the back of the rooster stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I don't want to, and I want to make it clear. I'm not throwing him under the bus here and I'm not talking about his character. I'm just talking about that. I'm just talking about, I'm just talking about, I'm just talking about, opportunity, footy and opportunity and a club like Melbourne who wants you at the back end of your career. Yeah. And you can fix all you fucking everything. My pettiness would take me down a mill. Oh, you know what I mean? Yeah. I'm Tom Petty. I want to go get, I want to get, go go, go fucking give it a power. I want to go down and compete and get there for around one and try. Yes. Because parathy, there are chance. You know, I know. I know. Head stuff for sure. Yeah. That could be a fact that that could be a huge factor. If that's the fact that's fair enough. That's that's it. I've heard Whistler's about it for a couple of weeks. Okay. All right. Yeah. If that's, if that's a part of it as well. Can I and and I keep let's keep circling back on this because people might just be turning in for little bits of it. Like it's his prerogative. Yeah. He controls, he controls his narrative. He's got to be speaking on X players and what we'd do. What I would do. But we don't know, I don't know his position. Yeah. It's obviously. Obviously the big parathy statement was formally consulted. At what point is what it what would you define as a player formally? Okay. So it feels like I can get a call from a CEO or their coach. That's what it's formally. Yeah. That's what it's. So his name was linked to this for weeks. I sent it for a couple of weeks and I heard Whistler's maybe before is even reported. It feels as though he was only properly communicated on Sunday Monday or Sunday. Saturday or Sunday. So we've got to take him on his word on that. So that's Serrentine. I'll pick up the phone and go, Hey, this is what you take his deal. It could be a part of the deal. Do you want to talk to Melbourne? Have a conversation with Melbourne. Whether he had those conversations. I don't know. Like I said, with a little bit of info that I got is that he was going to give her not to say it was going to be given to him, but he was going to have an opportunity to compete for the 17. It would be in there 17. May I be 100% in there 17 or 19 now? Right now I would have him over. Like I think they're good young emerging players, but I would have him over Lassardi and Chan over both. And even now, what's his name? I love Alex McDonald, but right now, Liero is here for two weeks. Madison could start like, I know, this is what makes me think there's something bigger than football. I don't like it. You don't give up. You don't just brush these things off. And it's also not for this. I can probably get to it with the next top points that you've got, but I don't like both sides of it. Like Parameter can't go hard and fighting for all this contractual stuff and then have this big part of it. Well, see, this is where I think people will start them to turn a power on this. I don't think they've done anything wrong here as well. Like they've offered a contract. It's not to say that parallel gone, you've got to go, you've got to go, you've got to get out of here for your life. He's clearly on the other and this happens all the time. So players are on the other guy, look, like hopefully they had a man-to-man conversation. Imagine Jason Rolves is that guy. Hey, Matt, you're not going to play here this year. You know part of my plans, like, in fact, I know I know a man-to-man conversation was had with a player that's moved on in the last 12 months. Like I've had a chat to someone like that. So it was clear and then that happens all the time. Yeah, it is what it is. It's part of the game. So it goes both ways. But if they had a proper conversation going, mate, you're not going to get an opportunity here. We like the young crop we've got. We want to extend them. You're not a part of the future. Do you like this opportunity? If he goes, no, I don't want to play for Melbourne. I'm happy to play. And we don't know. That's it. Melbourne's, you're not going to the Bulldogs or Penra, you're moving everything down to a whole different state, right? Good point. He's family, everything like that. It's not an easy move, right? There's a lot of mitigating circumstances that we don't know. Yeah. So good point. Let's look at it like he did move to Warrington last year. Yeah. So he could probably do it. Just read in itself. It's just a fucking, we don't know what's going on. Yeah, he's different. We're speculating. I know he's a different cat. These are two different cats. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Zach, anyway, he's got the drive. Everything. He's where I think it's going to get interesting to watch. This is a watch now. So if you are the NRL, it feels like, you know, everywhere from, you know, the land is like we said multiple times. It's trying to get this deal done. The land is just coming out and said, his worst fear. You would have seen this, right? You seen 360 guard hard last night's. I was watching it. I was like, I've been message Braithus and I saw around because on YouTube, they just had that little, there's Zach and I'm Max. I watched the same clip. Yeah, it was like 12 minutes. Yeah. I'm like, Rudy just got his ass handed to him for 12 minutes from Braith. It was fucking hilarious. And Gordy's just standing there just going. Yeah. We should have observed. Oh, mate. I was carrying on. I was trying to get in there and Rudy's just getting ready to stop there. Let me finish. Oh, really, Braith was fucking. TV Braith destroyed him. It was good TV. But two Reedy's pointing this. I get Reedy's point, but I'm like, sorry, sorry, can you say no. We need him like, you know, Zach, I'm like, dude, he ain't like that guy that we're going to sorely miss. Like, that's the brace point. The only thing I was union, we're getting unions getting all this playing. It's like, yeah, it's not going to move the needle. I don't move the needle at all. Like, similarly, Ian Walsh. I mean, all these guys that they've taken, exactly. I'm actually if he goes, good on him. Right? This is what I think it's great. And we've been saying this for ages. Yeah, good. Yeah, no, he's not Walsh. Yeah. You know, guys like that. Walsh clearly move the needle. Walsh, Cleary, that's a fucking, that's the loss. That's the loss for the game. I understand the fucking face of the game. They're probably only two. I'm like that. I'm like, hey, you know, it's that. Maybe money. Yeah. But money's getting a little bit older now. But much of his work to a three years ago. I imagine Walsh was in his position. You'd be fine. So I can everything not to let him go. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I like, you know, Zach's he can go. If he wants, he can stay here. If he wants, but it's not a fucking massive deal. And we're not giving all this power to run. and he's a fuck. - So he's like, I'll look at his walking out of like, rugby headquarters was fucking a hat and shirt. So what? - Yeah. - Fuck mate, what do you want with three piece soon? - But Brady is pushing the landies and our own narrative. - Yeah, and that was, so make sure you say this, Brady. - Little puppet. - He might have the same take as my point, right? But that is the narrative and this is why I'm getting to with this part of it is that the land, you know what the landies is like? - Yeah. - That's what I said puppet, 'cause you'd be the landies little fucking earpiece. - That's not what I'm saying. (laughing) - That's what you're saying. - Love you, Brady. (laughing) - Brady, this is what I'm saying. - Come on. - The NRL pit of the landies, I feel like you're gonna be furious that this didn't get done. - It feels like for two weeks, the landies were still on his best. - Para, what is this gonna be, is this gonna get personal? Is this gonna drag on in any way? I'm so curious to see how the relationship with Paramata and the NRL. - 50/50s aren't going power as way. The interpretations aren't going power as well. - Well, he's one of three little things. - I'll throw another one at ya. Paramata of one of five teams, not to go to Vegas. - No, going now. - Do you think the ladies go? - I'm just pretty, couldn't see that petty. - Not to say that they were definitely gonna go? - Perth is going straight away. (laughing) And the fuck it cools the chiefs after that. For a warm up game. - Yeah, I don't know. - My big thing as well was, we've sort of gone around a circle 'cause we've had a bit of fun with this today. - It's fun because I'm fucking over it. That's why I'm taking the PCA to media 'cause it's not that serious for me mate. It's just like whatever Zach's doing, can't do it. Can I, again, to the point, can I just, what's the word? Not reinvigorating, why don't we get a reinforced? I wanna reinforce. I'd love to see Zach play in the NRL. I don't wanna get that twisted at all in this. I purely been critical of the decision she made with the contract. But if Paramata can get something that's worthwhile at another club, fuck it'd be good to see Zach. Like, felt like when I was, when we were saying that stuff about him, not being an eighth in order of Reese Walsh, he's still fucking a lead player. - He's still a star. - So, don't get it twisted. We haven't said that in a while. I get it twisted, listen to this. - Yeah, they get it twisted. I would still like to see Zach if there is, someone that can come the other way to Paramata that works for that player, that wherever he gets an opportunity to play first grade when he might not, might not of, or maybe he comes to power and he's on a one-year deal, but gets a two or three-year deal. Like that could work. - And if he goes to union, good luck. - Good luck. - It's not like it ain't hurting us that much. - As a player, do you wanna see how Paris start the season? Does that make anything like, 'cause you don't wanna go to a, - On a same day, you don't wanna go to the, - You're gonna watch me. You're watching tonight, see how they go. - Yeah, I know, see how they go. - And we have to go against the storm tonight. - Let's get to the storm tonight, eh? Let's get to the next game. - Was it last year? Was it, you look fired up to talk about storming nails now? - I love it. - I love it. - You don't even go on. You can't even watch it. - Oh, you know where I'll be. - Fuck it. - I better get into this. - Were you, were you, - Carlton and fucking Swanns. - That's gonna be Blockbuster. - Yeah. - Charlie, is it Charlie Kerno? No, no, no, not Charlie. - Yeah, the main Charlie Kerno. - I so, I mean, I'm, I'm, - Confirm that. - I'm a Carlton supporter, 'cause I'm a good friend, Brendan Favalla. But I mean, the, the Carlton. - So you were fed as well? - In the Carlton suite. No, no, no. So I'm always being a Carlton supporter, 'cause I'm fed as a good friend, but um, - Charlie Kerno, - It is Charlie Kerno. - So he was a Swann, Carlton, he was a Swann. - Yep. - So yeah, we're in the box and that with the, fucking owners of fucking Carlton, some big dogs in there. - Good. - Good mate, PK. So it should be a bit fun. Hopefully I don't leave it half time. - Don't leave it half time. - What do you always leave it half time at other events? - I mean, it gets me, mate. - You even leave it half time sometimes, it feels like. - I've left half time, Rihanna, I'm a dreaded Liverpool. I'm gonna leave it fucking Sydney. - Yeah, you can't, if I can walk out of that, I'm walking at him. - Yeah. (laughing) - And you're close enough to get an Uber and be home in 20 minutes. - I'll be fucking straight on. - It's bought from Boyd. - Well, with our partners, the Sydney Swans are $1.29. - The Carlton are $3.60. - Yeah, come on. - Sydney, the line is $2.30. - Charlie Kerno is exactly what. - They should have sent me up his jersey. I would have fucking rolled in there. - Who said she would have? - They should have sent me his jersey. - Charlie Kerno is exactly what the doctor ordered for the Swanns to. They're vise, having that, ever since Buddy's finished up, they haven't had that, you know, that full forward. - Yeah. - They can cause drugs. - Yeah, they'll be good. And they had a heap of injuries last year. Who's the Swanns last year? - Haney. - Yeah, Haney's A's gone. - I just got back to that grandfather. - Oh my man. - Yeah, they got dusted in front of you. - There are a couple of boys. - That's what put me off, I felt. It was fucking getting down my 68 half time. - I can't believe I'm forgetting his name. He's a member of the guys. - All right, that should be better. - Gordon, Errol Gordon. - Errol Gordon. - Anyway, Storm. - God, he got injured last year. Storm, and by the way, there's two strengths happening tonight. Let's give him a shout out. - Lucky life. - Yes. - What do you know? - I'm streaming Parameter versus the Storm. Twitch.tv/luckylife. - Oh yes. - When I come out of a look, my brother's gonna come out of the earth. - Oh, also, Parameter. - So what you've been fucking gaming and twitching? - Yeah, so I tested it all through December, just to see how it all works and a bit of a vibe. I've got all my Papa McPros boxes set up as part of the set. - So yeah, that was pretty. - That was pretty good. - Always. - And a little bit of a sponsored from Papa McPapa. - Yeah, he's getting some Arrogant's. - Side hustle? - Yeah. - A little lazy actual chef. (laughing) - But we're competing tonight. - Ooh. - We're competing for views. I'm going on with the Hollow Sports Boys. - Yeah, sorry boys. I would have been there. - Yeah, I would have been there, but, you know. - Tom and Eddie, it's gonna be good to catch up with the boys. So yeah, I'll be doing the stream with them for the Storm and the year's gonna be a big one. - That'd be good. - Future killers. - Fucking cool. - Yeah, a couple of kills. Couple of techies. (laughing) - All right, let's get to the Storm team. So a couple of, I guess notice, notice names in the team list. Here's one that caught me off guard straight away for the Storm Moses Leo. He's the Rob Union Convert. He's in the center, Nick Meaney on the wing. - Shit. - I've seen him play Moses Leo. - Was that him last year? - No. - Maybe two years ago. - So he has played some NRO. - Two games. - Yeah, okay. - But he got in the second game. - He got in the second game. - He played against Manly, definitely. - I remember those last year with you before. - No, I know the kid. - But I remember when he made his debut, Bellamy said that Cam, Jerome and Harry come up to him before the game and said Moses is ready. - Yeah, so next year, he's gonna go straight into the center. - Do you think it's harder to defend in the centers? Just say if you're a Union Convert, that center or wing? - Depends on your wing or his. - Yeah, and I think Nick Meaney will look after him. - I think he looks at his hands wise in the centers because I think if you look at the Eels team, they've got some decent backs and they got Mitch Moses who loves that fucking over the top. And I think he'd be susceptible, Moses Leo to getting caught in No Man's land. - Yeah. - Where I think Nick Meaney is a very good defender. - What was the game? - They'll be attacking that edge, but wherever Moses is, when they get in the good ball 'cause wherever Mitch Moses is, you'll be going straight down, he's like. - My may always, we'll-- - And Jonah, sorry. - Yeah, my may always, we'll all brick his flip to the left as well. So Warwick's gonna be on the left. - Nick Meaney. - Nick Meaney will be with Moses Leo on the right. Joe Chin and Arti Valle Lassardi, we've talked about them already. They get first crack at the back row with the injury for the season to Ali and then also Sean Boore and injury plus suspension. Some sort of hangover. Aliq McDonald's at lock. Watch out for Cooper Clark. Watch out for him tonight. So you'll be at the games and I'll be all year watching the game tomorrow. Keep an eye on number 15. Money's got huge raps on him. - What position? - He's a front row back row hybrid. - I like it. - And the part that really excited, I reckon it's gonna excite storm fans when money was talking about him on our compa clip before. He said, normally it's Harry, Pappy, and either money winning the conditioning drills. Cooper Clark was there about some-- - Shit. - So-- - Where's he from? - Yeah, I never liked. - New South Wales, some way. - Okay. - Yeah, Blur. - Okay, so he was saying that he was a blue and he saw him for the benefit of the blue. But yeah, he's really excited about him mate. So, and the teams have been trimmed down and he's a part of the nine-eight. - Okay. - So he'll play, he could play parts of the night. As for the parameter, he was the big watch is obviously Jonah Peset. He knows his team well. - Oh yeah. - Great Bellamy said in the press that he doesn't really know what his weaknesses are. Porky, huge porky. - So what Belly said? - Yeah. - He goes, oh, so they go, oh, you're gonna know his weaknesses. He goes, I don't know if I will know his weaknesses, but we know he's strengths. - No, not at all. - He's like in anywhere like. (laughing) - Real straight. - Good question. - Wevy. (laughing) - What's that, Reedy? Yeah, Jonah Peset will be at six with Michy Moses. Brian Kelly in the center's, 'cause Fox is out Sean Russell on the wing. - I like that center partner. - Yeah, that'll be good. The love muscle on the wing. Jack DeBellan in his first hit out for the parameter. He was efficiently. He'll be starting a lock, deal walk, or come off the bench as well. But a good, good solid team here. - T'vati. - T'vati. - T'vati. - I think he's in for a big, big season. - Yeah. - Before we go into it, our friends at Tab have Melbourne favorites for that record at $1.40 for keeping Belly's record. Parameter Eels $3, the line is seven and a half. - I'm down storm. I just think because of that, because of the record, then, you know, we didn't mention monster Jerome Hughes and Harry Grant. Yeah, three of the best in their positions, like top three in their position. So don't feet. Don't forget about that. - So far, I'm going to, too. The way we're talking about, yeah. - And so far, yeah. - Yeah, a couple of years ago. - He's an exciting pro. - Their backs are all, they're like a very good defenders. They'll come out of, they'll come out of, my yard is quite easy. 'Cause far along goes good, ball brick, Nick Manie, like he's a different sort of player. Moses Leo, Jackson Big, Jackson Big Boy coming out of there. Fools are hold their own. You don't have to be like, they're not big. - Stefano's at home now. - Stefano's big, but like. - He's at home now too. - Yeah. - I think I'm looking forward to a big start to the year for Big Stefano, Josh King, you know. You can carry some light weights on the bench and in the back row when you've, when you've fucking got a team and a culture like Melbourne. - I'm excited to see what Davey Moale can provide for him. - Yeah. - He's a bio potential mate. Let's see if he, did he get shot in the storm? - Yeah, he's still on the 17th. I'm glad you went there mate because there's been too much energy floating towards the yields from all I'm looking for. I'm on the yields. I love the seven and a half. I think this is gonna be, this game will perfectly represent the animosity between the two teams. I think this is gonna be awesome. I think last year's vlogging and then the Zach Lomax bullshit. - I think this is low scoring mate. I feel like this is gonna be a good defensive battle. Well, that's what Jason Riles wants to do. That's what Craig Balamy has probably not as much in the last couple of years, that's what they're renowned for. I think this is gonna be a problem. - I'll be watching this on KO. - Yeah. - Yes. - What were you at the SCG? - I'm looking forward to seeing more Paris God. There's been a lot of hype. There's been everything about him. Are they gonna, you know, the big, improveers, they might make the eight, all this kind of stuff. I look at that fool pack and go, "Hot Good." Riles, New Junior, Paul, Jack Williams, Katoni, and Jack DeBellam. Like, I like that pack. That's very well balanced. Like, Jack DeBellam doesn't stop. Jack Williams is a bit of an Asian animal, Katone, Kiti-Oni, you're a good back rower. - I like Katone. - Junior, Paul, you may hope good. Like, it's about the balance. And I think they've got it right. 'Cause some really good workers, got some good off-loaders. And then you're Dylan Walker coming off the bench. You can play 9/13 speed, the Ruck Up, and just really attack Sam to a Vati. It's fucking beast mate. If he's fed, he can get out 20 plus minutes. And just take one of the middle spots. They've got a good little injury. - How did you play it really well as well? - I had to send me at the end of last year. Actually, most of us did some stuff. So what's the big thing like? Now you're still Vati. - Yeah. - 'Cause you got injured, remember? You did his knee and he missed some time. And I said, "What was it like being on the sidelines?" He goes, "I just want to get fed." Like, I want to get back healthy, but also want to get fed. - You know, it's for him to make the next level to be a starter. He needs to be fit. And he needs game time. And he could be a premier propping about tool for it. He's in a few works. - Speaking of premier props, what would you do with Junior Paulo? And then Roles came out this weekend, said they want to be in for Mitch Barney as well. - He's a captain of that team. - Yeah, they love Junior. - And Junior. - So you can still get Junior on a club friendly deal with the back end of his contract and figure that out. - Yeah. - They've got some cash, Pender with the competitive. - Sorry, Paramata, people keep forgetting this. They let go of Guthog, would've been on good money. Regan Kim will gill, I'd Bryce can't write. Try to get rid of fucking Madison. Zach Lomax completely didn't even, they didn't even have to pay anything out because Zach Lomax is one. - Look at the back five. None of them would be over 400. None of them. Maybe Pender City. - Maybe, maybe. - Maybe Pender City. - Like that's that fucking cheap. - Yeah, maybe you're back five six. - You got your back five on hardly anything. Jonathan Pesner wouldn't be on massive cash either. The seven's on a sheet load, which is well deserved. - Yep. - I think Junior's the world deserved. - Hopped everybody else is not massively conned. You can get Mitch Barney and still have that fucking same team. - Easily. - Easy. 'Cause that's what Rolsey's done. Clean the deck. - Get everyone in. - Yep. - That's the blueprint. - Re-shape it. - And then he loves Junior. So I don't think he's-- - Junior's the glue to that fucking team. - Just because if they're in the market for Mitch, I don't think that means it's the end of June. - Nothing. Unless Junior wants to finish up. Maybe, like it would be the pop-a-lea situation I reckon. - Actually, that just means to make it. - Like you want to go to Super League Big Dog. Or you want to stay here, what's the number? - We can figure it out. - Damn, owls, big June. - Let's have a look. - I played against him, I think, in 2014. He was in the full-time squad when I was a part. - 32. - That's how I was in that area. - We're gonna have two good years in him, I reckon. - He's looking at the lane. - And he looks like, yeah, because he's fucking, these diet nuts changed. And so I think, you know, 'cause a couple years, remember, Junior, 2013, '14, the Buffet got smashed in the World Cup and he just down his camera. Remember? - Yeah. - And everyone was gonna fucking, and he was massive. And now he's just gotten fitter and fitter. And now as you get older, when you get into your early 30s, you figure the game out. Right? Look at Junior, he's mad footwork, off-low, got the pre-line pass, the game slowed down for him. He plays big minutes, like he's gotten better. He's still playing at an origin level, but he's just not playing at that level, 'cause you got to get these young kids through. - He was awesome, I should get. - Yeah, he was there before. - That hit in the pack champs. That's a good highlight. - He's a beast. - Junior's a beast. - Black someone, I can't remember who-- - Junior's still a beast. - I'm still a beast. - He's still a beast. - I'd love to have him, I love him. - He's fucking still 100%. - He sounds like you want to get rid of him. - He sounds like you are trying to get rid of him for buying it. (laughing) - Hey, just you. No one else in the paramedic system. - That's the point before that it's like of you. So he was a bit, we were just about to talk about it. Someone wrote in the comments, "I love it, how mace in 0.5 a second can immediately backhose up every time." That's all I say to that. You were just like, "What do you want to get rid of him?" - He's done. - All team. Anyway, Storm dead, that's wonderful, I think. It's close game. - Yep. - Yep, I'm close. Yeah, I love the 7 1/2 start. - I will be three dollars. - Down there as well. - Well, no, I'm wondering what the weather like. - It doesn't even matter. - It's been money said it's been raining, I think. - Okay, yeah, he did. - What is it? - What is it? - All right, tomorrow night, the New Zealand Warriors with city roosters that go media stadium. So a couple of returns, players that we haven't seen in the preseason. Roger and Chanel played their first game. So that's the big in, Chanel's big in, especially because. - Straight to six. - Yeah, they did have their halves concerns in the trials as well. Chance, the clock set of fullback. What else have we got? Jacob Lavin, he beats out Leica Hallisema. - That's big. - So that's a big one. I think they're alive. - Because he's a genuine right sideback role mate. Leica could play on the right, but he's left arm carry and it's different by mechanics. - Yep. Mitch Barnett, Metcalfe and Tomatemarton all injured. Good news around Metcalfe apparently. He's gonna be back earlier than expected. He was supposed to be around seven. There's chat around four, around five now. - They'll be taking, they'll be taking their time with him. You want him around for the next five years. Ney injuries come back. And it's all up to the trainings, at the training sessions, you know? - Him and Mitchy Barnett did it within the space of a couple of weeks too. - Two or three weeks too. - Was, I feel like was Luke Metcalfe, or his fans are gonna love this, but was Luke Metcalfe magic round? Did he do it at magic round? - No, no he didn't. No, he did it after Mitchy. Anyway. - Where's what's wrong with Mitch Barnett? - He did it at ACL Resort, remember? - I remember when he played in the, did he didn't troll the whole thing? - No, he was trying to, he didn't troll the whole thing. - Oh, just the training. - He did it after game one last year, against your dog's mates. - That's right, that's right. - At a call. - So how long has this, how long has it been since they played? Is it seven to eight months? - I think it might even be nine months. Nine months. - Eighth fucking should be me ready. - They'll be close. - Yeah. - Mitchy was June 28th and. - Probably Mitchy. - Mitchy was a little bit longer than the younger. - Seven, Barnett. - Let's have a look. What do we got? - So Mitchy's about 24, 25th. - First to June, which Barnett? - It could be young. - Mitchy was pretty young. - Yeah, mid 20s. - He's like nine months. - So that's like nine to 12 months. They try and get that. And when you're Barnett's, when 30s, sixth to nine. - But it must be good, mate, because all that, there was just a story recently, this morning saying that he's close. - It just depends on like, how the bit, how, it'll be up to Barnett right now. It'll be balling his core. How you feeling, you can play in a row. I'll give me a couple more weeks at training at a fucking real optimum level. Like hard, like, because you don't worry about, the knee is strong as hell right now. It's the way he plays. Contact, can I drive through contact? That's the number one thing when I come back from ACL. I could run the ball, but that next step, that's what you fucking. - Is it a part of mental thing? It's a mental thing. It's a start, getting it. So just wait, I always say about 18 months and then you see his best football. I think the back end of the year, maybe leading up to Origin. You know, he's probably gonna go, fuck, I wanna play Origin, but like, it's gonna play some good football first. Start winning then and just look after himself. But it'd be interesting when they both come back. They change the whole look at that side. - Yeah, they do. - Yeah. Roosters, he changes the look at this side as well. Number six, first time in his career, 350 plus games, daily cherry evils will not be wearing the seven, because he's got a guy in the seven that goes right in the semi-walker. So I can't wait to watch those two. They look like they will chase at least complemented semi really well in the one trial against the yields that they played. - Look what didn't though. - Yep, Benoit Uallu gets first crack at the nine with Reese Robston, Connor Watson stays on the bench. Blake Steep is playing in the 13 with Victor Radley still out with suspension. - Okay. - And then we've got just a number of dogs on the bench for those sports. So Connor Watson, he's also a Wang Eagle butcher spent to Lenu. But even if you look at Celeste, if Kedi wants a big fan of. - I think Celeste is the Kedi, yeah. - Yeah, I thought he would be in the 17. - Got some good plays in front of him. - Oh, I thought he'd be in the 17. - He started 10 games last year. - Kedi Ramsey in the 18. So he could be the, - Kedi Ramsey. - He could be the emergency backup from the dragons. Remember he was like 23 and half - Yeah, yeah, yeah, fuck, good. - Healthy story. That's awesome. - That was lucky. - So we've got the New Zealand Warriors $2.55, Sydney Roosters $1.52, straight down to the Fabulous. - It was a hard game. - I was looking at this yesterday, I was like, "Fuckin' Warriors over there, first game." - Line is five and a half. - Media, go, media stadium, six o'clock game. - That'll be, and they'll solve it out. - It'll be, it'll be, they'll be like, "You know, be pretty chewy over there, I'll be saying." - You think so? - I always just think it's gonna be yuck. - Yeah, yeah. - Thoughts always, unless it's a Sunday. - It is 19 and dry. - Oh, okay. - Yeah, but it's only fucking nine o'clock. - I feel more like it's seven o'clock, eight o'clock over there. - Yeah, yeah. - There's six o'clock. All right. - Yeah. - I'm gonna go to the Roosters in a real close one. - Yeah. - If they had bought it and met Calf, I'm 100% going with the Warriors, 'cause I like the way they put together. But I think the middles, the middles, the fold packs have quite even. Just like the Cherry Evans, Sam Walker, Teddy, Toops, Nguang and It's a Wasi. - I don't know if I can keep it. - Robert Toy has got to go into a second year of, you know, being a rep player. Like Nafahoo White, one of the best props last year. Lindsay Collins always in the rep scene, Angus Crioton. You know, the only names you're looking at is that butcher and Blake Steep, that usually play off the bench. That start is now. Spencer Lane you off the bench. Problem. Connor Watson off the bench. That's what I'm looking at. - I feel like Threadies Carey, 'cause we always, I think at Manly, we always had a good record against Manly. I feel like Chaz always plays good against Manly for some reason. He said some big mimes against him. I was trying to say what he was. - I was trying to say what he was. - I'm sorry, the Warriors. - The Warriors. I feel like he said some big mimes against the Warriors. So I was trying to find his record. But yeah, I can't wait to watch him. I'll be calling this as well and SCN tomorrow as well. Me and Bretton Speed. So Chuck the TV on, - Same. - and see it up with SCN, listen to me and Speedy. - Same walker look like a different player. When he was playing, he looked just real confident and just a little bit bigger. - Yes. - A little bit bigger. The line breaks, the sort of happening. He's got that real tricky kicking game. Good ball playing. - Yeah, I just think they got a little bit more class. - Not to say a little bit. - It was complacent, but when you got Chaz just there just in case. - You can play with freedom, but you also want to go, this is my fucking team. - You got to compete with each other. - Yeah, you want to play that like, this is my team, this is I've been here for five years. - I can't help. - I respect what you've done. - And Daly's coming over there to help them win a premiership. - Yep. - This is the perfect stuff for these boys. - It's healthy. - Is Sammy a footy head? - Yeah, so he's like Queensland A, he's got Chaz next to him. He would have looked up to him and everything like that. - Yeah, yeah. - He's still going to try to get in that origin. - He's competitive in the game. - I played golf with him one time at the Aussie and just had a Chazo. You know, if you spend some time on a golf course, you can figure out a guy's personality. Footy head, yes, tick. Super competitive, like a little bit cheeky. - Yeah. - And that'll compliment, like they'll go, Chaz will like that person. - I haven't even had a Chazo about his relationship with Sammy yet, but I tell you the best analogy for that and the links into the next game when we did the golf show with Walshi. What he was like on the golf course, like how frustrating he was on a tee box and like putting everything. That sort of exactly who he is out on the field. 'Cause we were getting hammered and he was getting the shits with it. - Immotional. - But competitive. - No, competitive. - We lost every hole against him too. That's what happens. - Let's get to the Broncos. There's a sun corpse. - This is huge. And we get to see Nathan Cleary too, by the way. - Yeah. Corey Pakes wins the 9 jersey. So the male from, I think we talked about this for three or four weeks ago. His best mate, Chainsaw, Andrew McCulloch, he does good work at SCN. He called this one, Benny Hunt's gonna play that 14 roll from this year. Corey Pakes will be at Hookah. Jack Chichesky, the hardest name to pronounce. - Yeah. - I don't even try. - In the NRL. Chichesky. - Chichesky. Chichesky. - Jack. - Chichesky. - Great fellow too. - I had a quite. - It's brought some good lines from that left edge. - Chichesky Mille's wedding. - He's got the Chargou Charlie's up there. - Yeah, he does. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jack Chichesky. That's the best one. Chichesky, Chichesky. - Yeah. - I'm a back row. There was chat around, all of the staff are here, being the 7A and I'm excited. I really excited about him. You know, I'm a big fan. I love Ben Tollsey as well. See that, just clean, breaking made for the Patty Tugan, Hulkah, Archro as well. So Ben Tollsey's got a little bit about him. And the next marks the spot on the bench. - Yeah, it's a strong one. - That's a strong side. - What a powerful bench. - Yeah, the back five too. Look at that. - So P Cruz still out, mate. He's one to see. - Yeah. - What happened to him? - Did you get injured again? - It just reagrived it and, mate said he's gonna miss the next couple of weeks. - Just sucks with him being like, he's got so much potential. But he's always banged up. He's not a big back row. So he does come a bit, a few little hits, but he's always just little, yeah. Set that height. - Yeah. - He goes hard. - He goes really, yeah, exactly. - Yeah. For the Panthers, a couple of bigger missions as well. So the two lambs are out. So Henry, I believe Henry's not gonna miss the full season too. Originally was reported that it was ACO. I'm hearing that it might not be as bad. But Liam Martin's missing this as well. Mate, you were saying that that's a concern for you, not making the aid as some of their OGs missing meaningful games. - Yep. - Real one. - Liam Martin is not there. So Luke Garner goes to the back row, mate. Jack Cogger is in that 14 role. He's gonna, Jack Cogger's gonna have really impactful and meaningful moments for our season. - Yeah. - And Kalani going to the journeyman 28, 29 years old. He'll make his looks as though he's gonna make his inner-old day boo. What are the odds, Lukey? - We've got Brisbane Broncos $1.70. Pen with pants is $2.15 with tab. And the line is two and a half. - I think the Broncos is just too strong. Pain house. I mean, this would be their, you know, the last ride, so to speak, with our pain there. This, you only get it, you know, and a few opportunities like to win the comp, you know what I mean? And it sucks. I'll be looking back now. You had it about four or five years. - You're a little bit more powerful up there. - You really need to fucking nail it. And I think that's the talk with the Broncos, 'cause you got a really good mix of seeing your players and young players, you know, like Adam Reynolds would be saying, you know, how long did it take for him to win his second one? - 2004, - 10 years. - Yeah, exactly. - 10,000 years. - It always happened. And you've been hunt, you know, what happened, you know, he's a little story. And then you got kids that had just rolled into first grade and then won that straightaway. So then you got mages, a great coach. So I think it's just a perfect little storm up there in the game. - I've said this all along. The fashion in which they got beaten in 23 really set them up for 25. - Yeah, men beat 26. - That's what, you see, you can't coach resilience. You've got to go through it. And all these young men went through it and then they're paying. Now they're getting their flowers, they're winning games. And I think they'd be going into every game, thinking, you guys have got to try and beat us or we beat ourselves. - Yeah. - We're not, we think we can beat every single fucking team. That's the source way they got. That's the swag. - Join the same game multi for this game boys. I've got a big one. This is the first one. This is the first juicy one of Round One anyway. Friday night, the big game. I'm on the Broncos mate. I'm gonna make that clear. Do we get the odds? Did you say? - I did have the same. - $170 they were. - $270. - $270. - Start that against up flows. - Okay, no, it's right. We're gonna be, so the same game multi that I'm gonna go with, I'm on the Broncos. So I like to have two tries, goers from the winners. So I'm gonna go to the Broncos. While she, it's still underrated. Shibasaki, like he loves going along. - Shibasaki. - Sorry, while she loves going to Shibasaki multiple different ways. But a bit of double shape inside, outside, eyes act hung on all day, every day of the week. So let's go get him out Shibasaki. And I feel like last year was disruptive. For my man, your man, Ezra. But here's a sun corpse specialist. And when he's on, the Broncos are on. And he loves playing against Penra. - Just back in, someone makes a little line break on that left edge and just a little drawing path. - He gets up for Penra. - He's a hand up. So give me Ezra. And I think Paul Allen Mottie is gonna be the top tricep girl this year. So I think Allen Mottie can get one or two. So I've gone, Shibasaki on the left with Ezra. I think that's where they're gonna focus down that edge. And I'm hoping Allen Mottie's on the left as well for the Panthers. Cleary, he mixes and matches sometimes, but Bryant was playing on the right and the trials. So I'm hoping Allen Mottie's on the left wing, outside case of the plane and blazing. - That's the beauty of Bryant. Both wings. - Yeah, they move around. - Unbelievable player. - The last year they finished the season with Bryant or on the left with Casey McClein. But because I'm just thinking, just because Bizzar was on the right for the trials and expecting them to be on the right, but this doesn't mean shit. They've coach has changed that a lot. - Does he shift his carry? Does he have an equal strong carry on those eyes? - Yeah, he's a way of going. - He's skill set, he's balanced. And that's why I like some players, just say, look at a little Bronson cherry, right? Is it specialist left side background center? Left arm carry. So everything that he's, and now he's playing right side. So everything that he's been learning, his whole career with the palm here, and the footwork and the balance and everything like that, it's flipped the other way. So he's left arm carry, he's got a palm across his body, so he's balanced all over the shop, where Critta is just a footballer, right? So he goes to the left, doesn't even, doesn't bother him at all, sticks that right arm out. If he's on the right side, the left palm, the right foot, just a talent, special talent. So people underestimate that. I don't, I look at, if you've been playing left side, your whole career like, just say, Villiamma kick out, you've got kicks on the right. - It's a different, it's a different play mate. - Even how do young to be an awkward play? - How do young to play for Aussies? - A little bit. - Lea Martin, right arm carry, does everything right side, you put him on the left, it's different. - They must anger Critta. always on the left even though he's a right arm carry. It's weird because he runs that outside in line. So it's very it's it's all about balance and everything like that. So I wonder if that is something that maybe just they were good at all they knew and they worked on themselves but the penra of players are reckoned for that through that easy. It's and my clearing must have worked on it coming through because you got to really work on your craft to be good at both sides and every time critter swaps, business swaps. He didn't didn't phase him at all. That doesn't phase him. But if that's just talent and balance and and and training like if you're a young kid why don't you stick the fucking ball in your right hand do it both sides. Be balanced like what I'm talking when you're seven eight nine ten years old like that's when that's when you develop all these skills like you gotta look you gotta look at all these guys like Brian Tyre and and Critt Argan is so talented because some centers can't play Tony Stags put him on the left yeah different different different player right arm carry wants that distance you know exactly what he's doing on the right side even defensively defensively and defensively you're in a different position as well you know so like some some centers get found out they swap sides so that's where I think we're just say with the board I was going to break him down next week that's what fucking that's what happens with with with um we critter on the left but we want critter on the left because get more ball because birdos there and kick out there then you got critter and on the right side just a bit press though then can you find out for me from critter because I want to see if I can back this up can you find out for me next time you gotta try and go how's that a theory oh yeah there's the and go and we'll keep it we'll keep it between us say did you say anything to Vell because I'd love to get I said so I said so watching it I said I said so I replied to someone on Instagram I said I think you said shut up watch the next fucking hit and then watch me drop a 50 out and someone said uh that all you guys all you you know you don't have that in the bag or something like that I said shut it don't get it twisted I'm not saying I had the execution to pull off what critter did but I did have that chat mace can you confirm that as a teammate great chat I was the same guy who talked shit but couldn't back up man I was always in position for field girls I'm always that dude I was always the third option for field girls Krenella versus the gold case Krenella versus gold case this is going to be good so this is at ocean protect stadium hmm what's that what's that new name as a state of the Krenella must be the new name of the stadium ocean all right so Sam strain street on the wing for Ronnie who's missing apparently there's in 50 50 sianic atoa I reckon if he doesn't play we'll see Michael Gabriel but apart from that Jesse Kauhoon he filled in for a beginner's at the back of last year he looks like a nice super coach cheapy as well I've got him in my team for those playing no we don't have a league but I am playing with my mates and not much else of note they've been so for the last three years as for the Titans and big changes so a really good piece of content from the Titans with seal it seal it silly yeah femur money yeah femur for your money for your money for your money for your money for your money he will be on the wing out so yeah he's good he did he deserves it they call him my baby to oh which is a great no you fucking runs hard you fucking baby you're doing something wrong be half a play easy uh lock year elias is at the seven mates at JC jade and Campbell injured his hammy he's out for two to four weeks and our man got started gig out of my hoo out of my house yeah right yeah remember him coming up yeah I like it yeah so he deserved it he had a crack the dolphins game or memory my see it fucks his back row so remember the he played well in both the back row who's the guy who's the ah the dolphins guy the back I think he was playing front I got injured knee plate for quince land the fuck psycho for least kathousey no top Gilbert Gilbert yeah so he was having a crack at Gilbert yeah saw that oh yeah he's got some fucking shit in him this guy because Gilbert was giving it to him and this young kid doesn't play much of any NRL and he's stood his ground and when that even couple of times chirped off a little bit so well done on your spot I don't mind this team just fucking thrown me hey hear about this so out the back of the content to this comes from Bulldogs oh for what an error hey boys big fan of the potty not sure if this came up when you're feed but the titan's Instagram of Josh Hanna he given it uh fear money his day boo he makes a little comment about how he can only get him two or three tickets to the game a chuck because it's oh that sucks love it thought it was awesome to see the rookie have a little dig at his former club to add more fuel to the fire for their round one plus the Saturday the masterverse the apprentice type stuff between him and Fitsy I'm sure Fitsy will help him out with some tickets love your work loads keep up yeah I'll do that and and all the boys what happens in situations like this like you get allocated four tickets and everything like that it's but it's in a way game so most of the boys will give all the tickets to the to the rookies yeah you know what I mean so you because they're looking at they do it if you're named in round one starter look at they do that fucking shirts everywhere they're going half 20 plus 20 plus easy and it's a massive um it's a massive big deal I never used to think it was that bigger deal when I come up yeah yeah yeah because I didn't get it and I just got called three days before the fucking first grade game just you know when when in but I'll look back on it now and go it's the fucking journey to get there it's so hard to get to the NRL it's been like family as well it's for your families but everything on my I'm glad that clubs make such a big fucking deal of it now because even if you play five first grade games it's a massive accomplishment huge I'm trying to do this since you're like six years old you want to play NRL so when you see these young these young men get to start and they get to play the NRL first game it's it's a really special moment so I'm glad the clubs really take that into account and make it be a deal of it because we're always in that era where they did not give a fuck about 100 games 200 games 250 I don't even fucking remember do you know what I mean and that's like I'm only talking like like in 20 years ago right it just wasn't part of the whole coach and now it's like they this is the one they should celebrate this one in 200 250 300 get out of here well uh Kronala are at dollar 28 with tab uh goal co is to up at three to 70 the line is 11.5 I'm going times I reckon this is a trick game it's a stupid game I'm going to sharks I think this is a trick game it's a trick number two I look at the cell and toss in the 11th half Thomas Hazelton and for no more Blake and I look at uh photo waker and Tino firm more in the back row it's very very well balanced it's going to come down to Nico and um and Raiden Trindall yeah that's where because I think the forward pack sort of even's it out the back fires pretty even say AJ like lucky ilias can sort of arrive and they're all right oh my god huge man you fucking god yeah oh my god so this big big boots to fill here so AJ is going to be a runner backfires always being pretty good they'll get out of yard is quite easy oh well say like congratulations to Max V and A he's been to a couple clubs he just comes over from the dolphins but lucky ilias has got a real opportunity here with JC out if he plays well enough me and JC could come back in i know to six brima hates it but brima could get pushed out to the centers and JC and this good and i reckon for locking now he goes from south with a good team but there were clearly stuff that factored into him not getting as much ball at the south last year then he goes to the dragons and didn't really get an appropriate opportunity to compete properly no excuses now this is club number three he's got an opportunity to go after him and I think he understands the magnitude that he's been putting he understands like if you don't know this one you're going to go you're going to be in England could be you know yeah and so he's got all the tools right he's built well he defends good he's got a good kicking game well fucking trial really good so there's no excuses up there you've got decent forward packing to hold their own against most forward packs there's no excuse there your backfires pretty good fucking Aliandro's a fucking runner you've got some decent cattle up there and you got a good coach yep who believes in you yep that's what you want giving you a chance sound going to go times okay i'm going to shock i think it's a trick game but i understand i understand i understand why you i would not have a clue is going to win that uh mainly seagulls best the camparit is at four points uh four get to take on his former team straight away so this is going to be good to walk out good uh ten yellow piseca as well he looks good looks good looks healthy big body miss some time joe walsh is on the bench he'll be lawyer can put in pressure on both foggy and brooks and even jack simkin in a way too because i've seen a lot of many fans going fucking throw joe walsh six put brooks in a dummy half they're mine that yep so uh kobi heather intends on the bench uh yeah i think this is the best makeup actually because i had uh originally i had kobi heather int at lock jake up at the front row but takia ho's too good uh not not start the game so piseca takia and he's playing good football he ain't just because he was playing good five years ago he was also like he he was there he was making a difference he was the guy at bully more of the bench and then that's where i like Nathan brown 17 impact coming off the sort of we were a little bit harsh with after the trials but this is where i like him but i make an impact off the pine just come up with back fence you get the crowd involved you just do your job perfect i was hard as you can because you got some balls Nathan brown because if i was fucking yeah everyone's just waiting to tee off on him and have a look at that forward pack that he's going to go against he's my big watch mace number 22 Paul brine i like him he's the kid from new castle you're going to get it crack he got up upgraded to the top 30 which he's which you know play you're going to play might not be in this game but he's been activated so he can play so he wasn't able to play before this week has he played first go before one game disagree He's been coming back from injury, hasn't played any trials. He's in the extended bench. Maybe late-chained. He's been trying to send his anger back. Ethan Sanders first crack at the seven. And he's been trying to send his anger back. The only reason Owen Patty is playing New South Wales Cup is he needs more game time to keep developing his career. He's still very young. And as a hooker at NRL level, I need this. He's the future. And gonna be the right to start in hooker for as long as he wants. So I need to give him more game. Whilst it is available to make him the best player he can be. His game will not progress. If he's averaging 21 minutes a week, it was very unique for him for Owen. Last season, finally, his feet at NRL. But coming off the bench behind Starlight. But I don't want him to be an impact player. He needs to learn how to play long minutes. Nice. Good to hear you. Anyway, I am going manly. Well, manly or $9. Yeah. Can Baratas $9. I can split up. I just think being at home, might be a different team there. That forward pack is outstanding. And I just like, I like Paseca. I like their backflives. They can score from anywhere. Raiders a little bit underdone. Their big dogs didn't play. If you're going to get them, it's going to be round one. Agreed. That's all I'm going off. Because if they're playing in round 14, I'll be going the Raiders. But from right now, just because a lot of their big dogs haven't played any meaningful football, it's a bit different. Like if you're not trying at all. You're not going to be able to play any of those balls. So, yeah, Stranger's going to be playing on the right. Ethan Sanders is a left foot kick. So, he'll set up on the left hand side. And I think Ricky's trying to fix those right edges issues that they had as well last year. So, I can. The way I think it's going to line up. Ethan Sanders with Huttie Young and Seb Christy outside him. Ethan Stranger will be on the right who has Simi Susangi and the Younger No Martin. Yeah, if you're going to get him, it's now. Hmm. Who you going? Yeah, man, man. Manly. Not with any confidence like genuine coin flip. The last two games. Zero confidence. Yeah, it's just my gut. Hey, by the way, Owen Paddy. We could use a hooker at Manly. Owen. You regret it, man. You do it all the time in the ball. I know. I already look good in blue. No, you go by the end. Do you think, remember, you said I think the start in the Raiders preview. He's always a guy that reads the ones. He's the guy. Yeah, he does. It brings out the best of them. Huttie Young did a party with our man, Mitch for Agues. What happens? He mentions it. But what happens is it just brings the best out of Tom Stalin. Because he doesn't want to let it go. Yeah. And then you got the Braille one just throws the fucking spanner in there. It's strange. It's fucking weird. And you're just like, oh well, you should have to fight for your spot, Owen. Yeah. Last game. Come in, Leon. Come in. Because I'm on mainly to win this game. So therefore my two try score is going to be Manly player. So let's start with Tommy Turbo. He likes playing. He's a four-point specialist. Yes. He loves playing against Canberra. He's got a good record against Canberra. Goes well against Canberra for some reason. And this time of the year, captain, he just love everything about it. I'm also going to go, the juice, totally collar. You were going to do that. I knew it. I was going to say collar. What side? Yeah. Oh, against Simeon, isn't it? Yep. So just because there's new faces there on the right doesn't mean that the issues are necessarily fit. Simeon, you're a big back rower. Yeah. I know he's killed it. And when he's going to his opportunities at center, but that's later in the year when you're fucking match fit as hell. Yeah. Hasn't played much for you. So tolo collar on the left. And this always happens. Players that leave Manly always come back to four points. I always think of Guffa. Guffa always scores. Even I think he's fuzzy got to try when he was playing against Manly. Give me KO weeks, KO weeks through the middle. Not much talk about KO weeks. Didn't play any preseason. He's a gun. He can score. He can score. And he can break one for 50 or 60 hours. So give me Tom Travovich and tolo collar for the Manly Seagulls. Give me KO weeks. Did you find out his origin eligibility? No. No. No. KO has been no cheat. There's going to be no chat on it. Yeah. And then anyone. But he did say originally he confirmed for New South Wales. Yeah. Who knew he'd like I didn't know I'd love to have. He was a good person. Ask with Junior. Yeah. Last game Dolphins Sunday at Suncorp Stadium. Juice Dolphins vs. Rabbit Ace. This is going to be good. I can't wait for this one. So Herbie Farmworth and Selwyn Cobboy will line up on the same side and reunite from their Broncos days at Suncorp. I feel like that's poetic. Yep. Dangerous for the bright edge. That's a fuck it. Wait a minute. I'm going to line up. Herbie Farmworth and Selwyn Cobboy against Jack White and Campbell Graham. That's fucking awesome. Campbell Graham just showed like any strong how good defensively he is. They've been missing that sort of presence on that edge and Jack can just hit hard. That's a dog fight. That could arguably be the best center and wing matchup of the season already. Week one. Herbie Farmworth and Selwyn Cobboy. He's a Cali. There is not. Jack White and Campbell Graham are not going to take one step backwards. Jack takes shit personally and I think he's going to fucking down and take Farmworth's head off. Really super aggressive on him. And he's like Farmworth. Farmworth's got to go on the premieres and the best center in the game. Let's see what a matchup. Cobboy come out of fun playtos and he's hard to hit mate. Jung out dogs back too. Oh, thank God. He's at Hooker. Tom Flegl will start. Morgan Nolts will start it locked for his first game here in the NRL officially. And then you got Finney Fulwarky and Lemme Welles start and Aaron Keeley back to the bench. The juice on the bench and trade fuller. He's in the 17 sort of scubber. As for the rabbit eyes first crack at the number seven is Ashton Ward and with the last minute injury to the cheese, Broncent Garlic will start. It's a little injury that he did it a training. Yeah, because it didn't look like we jinxed him. We talked about their health and then he got injured the next day. But it's only a couple weeks. It's a tough issue. That training is what they do with their fucking injuries. They get injured more training than any other cub I've ever heard of in my life. That sucks for the two. Weird energy. By the way, you and I can beat out Tullstunk and for the starting edge back row. So he didn't even get much games on there. He didn't. He came off the bench. He did. He did. I thought Tullstunk had didn't really do much. He didn't really have anything wrong. He didn't do anything. I didn't think anyway. Yeah, but he's not in a position where he hasn't arrived yet. Uncle Wayne just keeping him in the way. He hasn't arrived yet. Keep an eye on him. He loves you and Agen. Yeah, he does like you. He does. He does like you and Agen. Try and grow it full back. Just because we talked about the left for the dolphins and the right for the rabbit eyes. AJ Latrell. Jay. Have a real on a sarco. They're no monks. Jake Averillo could be getting a lot of work because that back row. David the feeder, what to say when he makes clean line breaks. The only reason why that center can't come in is because he has his skill set to offload to who. Troll. But guess what? Who's our half? This is Katala. Katala better make sure he fucking hits and sticks because he tries. If there's one half in the game outside and they can hit and stick. Yeah, but Katala tries to hit. I saw him in the trials. He hits hard but he bounces off contact. Yeah. So you don't want to ever be like and that's just lowering his target a little bit and snapping him around the legs. Yeah. You can't let that big man get out with it because it's a little bit of footwork and you want to hit him high. He's. He's a monster. He's a problem. He could so could tell and he's to be like, where do I hit? Do I hit on board? Do I hit? I'm going to hit on his chords and go real low and drive because he's powerful. enough he's got great tackle tag, but he needs to make that tackle on him because otherwise Jake have a rillow and a sarco is going to have nightmares. Other Dolphin Slife favorites? With Tab we have the Dolphin's $1.80 Slife favorites, $2.00 South. The line is $1.00. Good game. Yeah, I'm South. Good game. I'm South. Yeah. I know Rick. AJ, come on. That's why I want that left edge to be firing. I want to get a couple of tries. Just a couple of little gimmies at the end, like outside of the trowel. So the feed is going to cause a lot of damage there. Cody Walker still there playing like he's a master of puppets that man. He's fucking. Well, I'll start off with Celciney, but I'm on the Dolphins in this game. And the player who I'm looking for, you mentioned David Fettie. You mentioned AJ. I reckon, and Sarco was one of them last year. The back end of the season when AJ was chasing the record. Sarco just was just hanging on AJ. He didn't want AJ to score. I don't want that. If you do that, letrels is going to stroll over on every lap. It's a problem. So give me letrell Mitchell any time for the Celciney rabbit oes. And I think the Dolphins are going to get the job. So I'll take two from them. Yeah. And it's going to be a good matchup. And it's probably not going to be the typical physicality win for Herbie Farnworth, but it might be a little bit of silk with Cody Nick Arammer and Isaiah Katal poppin over, but give me Herbie Farnworth and Hammer Soap, Tab you off at O through the middle. Maybe a half break, maybe an early shift. Yeah, I can see Cody Walker just say if you break it down at the left post, he comes around. He's got like the feeder boom. He'll be looking at Jacob Arillo and Sarco, right? Gemminin on Trell, straight over top to AJ. Yeah. I can see that or either you hit, you've got so many options. He's got Jigra, we sweeping around the back. He's going to have the feeder hitting him short. He go around the back to Jigra, Lichol still holds out wide, AJ holds a pine, a little kick, bring him up, like he's got all of it. So good. If so, when they're on that left side, it's fucking near and soft. And they were a little bit leaky to the right edge for the Dolphins last year. Yeah. It was a Sarco blown out. Yeah, Sarco he tends to come in a lot. And Jay and Everillos and the strongmen were the strongest defender. Yeah. Right. I think it was more so actually when Maxifierna was playing next to him as well whenever Real-O was out, but they all had the head issues. They did have issues. It's just because the Dolphins weren't in the hunt that not as many people noticed it, but they did have issues. When they got blown out, they got beaten by heaps. When they won by heaps and when they got blown out, they got blown out by heaps. Yeah, this would be a statement game for the rabbits in there on a revenge tool because everyone pumped them. Or Dolphins licked them last year. The proper. And that's in the back of the mind. Yeah. All right. So I'm going to go to the Dolphins. I can't wait for this weekend. Anything else that we need to touch on? Is that basically it? Enjoy your. Yeah, my back too. Enjoy your game tonight, AFL, Conten vs Swan Slicky's Live and I'll be on the Hollow Sports Stream. Summary:

FAQs

The NRL introduced changes to interpretations for the disruptor (obstruction) and stealing the ball, aiming to clarify when penalties should be awarded for interference or dislodging the ball during tackles.

A disruptor may be penalized if, in the referee's opinion, a player does not genuinely contest for the ball and interferes with an opponent's ability to contest it. Genuine contest means arriving at the ball appropriately.

Stealing the ball is determined by defending players' actions, such as striking, gripping, or pulling at the ball or the ball-carrier's arm to dislodge it. It emphasizes skill but places onus on the ball-carrier to secure possession.

Clubs reportedly received the rule interpretation changes only two to three days before the games, leaving limited time for teams and fans to adjust, which sparked criticism over timing and clarity.

Critter's high tackle was deemed a penalty but not a send-off, as the ball-carrier was dipping upon contact. It was considered sufficient punishment amid other contentious calls in the match.

The rule now excludes missed field goals that go dead from resulting in a seven-tackle set, encouraging teams to attempt game-winning plays without being penalized for near misses.
