The group navigates a terrifying, surreal environment in a lost ruin, encountering a hidden "hand room" where a deadly machine and a silent, tutu-wearing mimic emerge from a pit. The mimic, a remote-controlled doll, attacks the party, forcing them into a tense, combat-heavy sequence. Using flashbangs, grenades, and improvised tactics, they manage to destroy multiple mimics and critically wound the central clown, who reacts with disbelief and malice. A pivotal moment occurs when a flashbang ricochets and destroys two mimics, while the remaining one is obliterated by a rocket launcher shot. The encounter is marked by intense violence, player errors, and moments of absurdity—such as Retro being kicked in the groin and covered in blood. Despite the chaos, the group survives, though with significant casualties and emotional trauma. The experience reveals deeper layers of the world, including hidden doors and trap rooms, and underscores the game's blend of horror, player agency, and narrative unpredictability. The session ends with a haunting atmosphere, reinforcing the immersive and emotionally resonant nature of the adventure in No Latency Sidequest.
Last time on No Latency Sidequest.
[Squeak]
A sucks. Access to that camera.
That was the creeps!
You're gonna have to get it.
Your assistant is still alive and we might be able to help them.
Does it make you go fast?
A yogurt team? Proud of you, Petro.
Good job, sweetie boy!
It's very sweet. This is nice.
Yeah, the texture on the balls were nice.
So, I have about 50 bucks on me.
Did you want something?
I forgot to buy the kibble back at the night market.
What were you looking at, sweetie?
No, no. I'm good.
[Squeak]
I tried when I got those glow sticks back at the market.
Lumin, you know about the bozos.
Okay, you just shoved my hand into your armpit without even asking.
I knew it.
That is a long hallway.
In debt and a wall.
It's a clown. It's a clown.
She's mean, but I think she's right.
That's her. That's. That's row.
Was that anybody we knew?
You've just seen. Sheldon and two people you don't recognize, Tommy.
Move from one room to another.
It walks through a small hallway.
Covered in sand, you hear more sand pour behind them.
And Lumin and Retro, you see the room, Phil.
They walk into a large room with a thrust.
There's a computer with a panel on it,
and a machine with a sword sticking out of it covered in blood.
Tommy, you know what this room is.
It's the hand room.
The hand room.
This is the end of the heart of the series that I watched.
I feel like I came in on episode three, you know what I mean?
Mm-hmm.
But this was the finale.
And she's trying to joke through it,
but she was very much affected by that movie.
So you can tell that she's just a little bit more somber
than she would normally be while being caddy and dismissive.
Whoa.
So just blood splatter.
You watch one of the people you don't recognize
slap-sheldin' across the face and push them down
as they continue to argue in silence.
They're fighting each other now.
Shit, shit, shit.
What can we do?
I'm going to just kind of crowd around and watch two.
Can I roll a perception to see if I spot anything in the room
to just-- Yeah.
15, yes.
The more you watch them, the more you get the feeling
that they don't see the same thing you see in the ground.
From the footage that was shown in the screen sheet,
to them, it's a pit, but to you it is not.
And as you look into the fair darkness below,
but still covered in these dots and this grid on the ground,
you see little operations, little wisps of things
as the lenticular screen in front of you
starts to refract.
The screen, the window that you're looking through,
gets rid of that illusion, but they see something else.
And just between a few of those little refractions of light,
you see a figure in the ground walking around.
Motherfucker.
It dances elegantly, silently through the pits below them,
wearing a tutu, bounding around in a way
that creates utter and complete silence.
You guys are seeing that, too, right?
Oh, I thought it was just me.
Seeing what, the tutu, like, come here, come here.
Oh, it was out of the way.
Is that what I think it is?
Yes, it is, right, true.
What do you see?
Fucking mimics.
Fucking mimics.
What's a mimic?
What's a mimic?
So a mimic is a, who best way to put this?
A mimic is a doll.
This thing can transform into whatever it like.
And it has the ability for somebody to remote control it.
So either somebody is remote-trolling in now,
or honestly, I don't know why it's doing that.
What the fuck was that?
You watch Sheldon silently slap the other person back
and push them.
Good girl.
OK, OK, OK, OK, OK, OK.
This is-- they're going to--
OK.
They're going to watch the other way into the walls,
and they're arguing about something.
OK.
Tell me, you've seen what this does.
What-- what did they argue?
Like, is it-- what do you think?
What's the dilemma here?
Yeah, what's the puzzle they got to figure out?
I think one of them has to cut off a hand to get through.
Oh, that's why it says, give us a hand.
It's very, very cute, very punny.
This is the kind of people who like puns, so.
Maybe I'm not a big fan of puns as I used to be.
We would start banging on this screen, this window,
and even if it does nothing, just trying
in vain to get someone's attention.
Roll rolling.
Oh, no, no, rolling.
Yeah.
That's what I figured.
Yeah.
Very mid.
Honestly, like, I know you have to remember.
Retro is a character that has been around for six plus years.
I know.
That's just not funny.
10 is very mid.
A basic pass on a basic task inside the punk red is a nine.
Everything about that is a gradient of a mild success.
Some things require a higher dv, but banging on a wall
to get someone's attention doesn't require.
The problem is, so it's very dull.
You thud on the one-way glass, and the three people in the room
stop arguing silently and look towards you.
You see the robot in the pit turned towards the wall as well.
Almost like it can see straight through it.
Its head turns and rotates in a macabre fashion.
The whole body turns upside down seemingly silent,
alone, and scuttles off into the darkness.
Oh, that can't be good.
Jesus, fuck, you summoned it.
I-- shit, I--
OK.
OK.
Do you watch the other two grab, sheldon,
and drag them over to the bloody machine in the corner?
OK.
Oh, no.
I'm going to take out my heavy pistol,
and she's going to aim in at the window.
And I want everyone to know that I went out of my way.
She's never learned how to handle this weapon.
Far enough.
And she's just going to fire a couple of rounds
into this window.
Sure.
I've seen enough of Jeb doing this.
I'm going to get out of the way.
Mm.
You're a tank?
Oh, no.
Oh, well, well.
Wait, that's good, right?
It's green.
Crit success.
It is green.
You cause a crack in the glass, and it shatters.
But like safety glass, it stays within its various layers.
Fuck.
The thing that suddenly can happen is they can see your shadow.
When you move your hands, they're now looking at you.
Sheldon's hand is laid across the guillotine in this room.
They've stopped.
OK, OK, OK, OK.
Screw this.
OK.
I'm going to take out my grenade.
And I would never normally do this.
[LAUGHS]
But I'm going to ask everyone, get back, get back, get back.
Yes, sir.
And I'm going to toss this grenade at that cracked glass.
Great.
All right.
Yeah, yeah, roll me athletics to see if you get away in time.
Oh, of course.
Yeah, that's-- that's the--
[INTERPOSING VOICES]
Oh, you guys moved away.
You guys can be free of this experience from the front.
No, Lulin hasn't used explosives very often.
And instead of asking somebody who seems
like they have used explosives a lot,
he's decided to take it upon himself to blow up a reinforced
window.
Here's the thing, right?
I'm trained in explosives.
I didn't-- I did think about this.
He read the manual.
I did read what the pamphlet that
came with the grenade.
He definitely did.
Of course he did.
It's a safety issue.
Yeah.
No, because in skills, let's see, ranged weapons.
Yeah.
I hand weapons no heavy heavy weapons and with grenade launcher specifically I yeah
No, I mean you gotta do your research before you just roll the heavy weapons then
Or shoulder arms up to you and I'm gonna just give you an inspiration from retro
It doesn't mean anything, but I love a minute you know how to read directions
Hmm, yes, I've been laying a grenade on the ground next to a fragile object. It's again not difficult
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. You lay the grenade down in the least badass way possible
Yes
Safely
Safely and you step back and it starts to make little mouse noises as it gets closer and closer to exploding
And then it goes
And the wall explodes
And like Tommy's hands are gonna go off and she's just cheering
Thank you for the grenade. I just want to run up to them
And now the now the window is open and they can see you shelled in this standing there
There's a guy with a mask who's holding the sword above their wrist
Oh, don't you fucking dare
So what's going on here
No come come on come on come on and just wave at them towards the window
I'm pretty sure there's a window is open below you is an endless pit
When you look down where those dots are it looks like an endless pit
Wait
While this guy's complaining and the other two are looking at you across the way sheldan walks over to the corner and sees you tell me
My Shelley hi
She was very concerned about you
Mm-hmm. Hey, uh, I got captured by a serial killer. I'm gonna be needing tomorrow
No, you're already late today
Mm-hmm and I'll start unpacking the rope from my bag. Oh, yes, the 50 foot of hamper rope. Yes, that every person has
I did buy rope
Fair enough
retro
I think I will wait until afterwards sure
No, no, no, you brought rope. I just said you did
That makes it so can I do something while that you know while Tommy's, you know lowering this rope
In my back and I have never never had to take this out before
months with
All of the cash from my last job
Mm-hmm. I purchased a grenade launcher and I did
When I take this out, it's probably gonna be like it's okay. I only what the fuck did you do a grenade launcher?
Lumin, it's not it's not for hunting people. It's I look I
bought non-lethal rounds and I spent
Everything I had on this and some flashbangs
But I have one mp grenade and I think it might come in handy with a damn robot chasing us
Mark, you see retro flinch at the words EMP grenade
Yeah, let's
Keep a pin in that
Yeah, no, yeah
I I do want to bring this up before we start watching grenades. Okay
Is anyone noticed that door back there behind us? Do you have?
I'm right down the hall where we came from over here. Yeah. Oh, that's that's where we came from
No, we came out from further. Yeah, that's where you came from. Yeah, there's a door that you were passed in the wall absolutely. Yeah
It's extension the wall. Oh
Nice, and we unlock the hatch you can try
Oh, I got a lot picking fat. What do you do retro?
Well, I will try to I'm like well, yeah, I was gonna try to ask is the hatch like locked or is it like something that I would have to physically open with a tool
It's locked isn't with a locking mechanism. You can use lock pick to open it. I'll give you plus one if you use those lock picks
I would love to do that
And I will definitely take
The lockpicks because uh yet you're right. I used to have it in my tool hand and it did break and I never you did break it
You never know. We just forgot that at the at the I know I don't forget your point. I forgot I wrote fine fine. All right
You can keep it
Oh, a little gift. How nice. Oh, they're pink by the way. Oh, sorry. Let's pick pocket man. That's the other one. Oh, they're just not
Pick lock 16 so enough you open a little area is a like event hatch a single
person wits
Down at the very end you see the backside of a secret door
It's pretty dark up. I'll flip my lighter
Yeah, all right. The first time I've been in a van like this. Oh, they're surprisingly clean though
You can see into this tiny hallway. It looks like the space between the two rooms
He's further down and the door in front of you is a push to open, but it looks like it'll lock behind you, okay?
I would like to try to open it
And then I'm gonna do
Whatever you see out of line that I know does and stick their foot in the foot jam in the door jam before closes
You are keeping the door open with your foot and you are now in the room. Tony and Lumin, you see retro walk into the hand room
What the fuck
Your room in their own place. Yeah, it limply hangs into the illusion disappears as it goes into the darkness
And you're you're finding it quite difficult to throw it over even though one of them is trying to grab it
They turn around and look at you
Go with it. Go ahead. Go with him. And she's just gonna drop the rope
You lose fifty foot of him and rope retro. Do you guide these people out?
They follow you out of the of the hallways. Oh, thank God between the wall
No, no, you did it. You said all the right things you kept it and kept it cool
These three tubes are now standing in the hallway next to you
Okay, as much as I'd love to get to the bottom of this and see who's doing this we should probably get the hell out of this building now
You hear footsteps. Yeah
Coming from the south
Back down the hallways from where we came. Yep. Oh, that's no good
I think somebody's the fixer's soul. I think I heard a squeak
It's like every uh, it's like really ever it's that was like squeak
Squeak. That's weird. Roll perception
Yeah
Little 20 don't film me now
Oh
Brought you you were all bad
Yeah, drop your agent on the ground and the screen cracks
Oh, it has no real effect. It's just a very annoying
Should buy a case for those because that's like I know people say it's a scam at the agent store
But it really does come in handy
Oh, Sheldon, you're gonna give me another phone
Behind to me as as she scolds Sheldon you see three mimics walking up the hallway in step
Okay, um, lemon, lemon
Why yeah, why?
Man be a good time for that. Are you gonna tell me the man be a good time for that again peering at
If I want okay, if I look past him, I think we're arguing about the it's like no, I get it
They're overpriced at the store, but if you get it there then even out to your own car, right?
Yes. Yes. All right. Well, I believe we've got the cases and I will believe me with that. Honestly
It's on them that they didn't put a case on there as well as the screen protector that should have done that but
And I just hear the the MP grenade at the yeah
The the people who were with Sheldon run away from the gaggle of mimics that are coming up behind you and leave you alone
The three of you with Sheldon
Those chickens were gonna cut off Sheldon's hand
They run away
The mimics behind you start to get closer and you pull the trigger loomin with your even
EMP grenade is this where you want to fire it? Uh, apparently yes, it is yes, 16
Yeah, you did very well
I managed it. Yeah, you managed to hit four of them
Oh, I've got four of them are hit for a decent amount
of damage. You see them spark and glitch before you. They laugh manically as they click and pulse,
and then you hear a ticking. They head tilt and their eyes start to flash in a sequence over, over,
over again. Oh, I think it's faster. I think it's faster and faster. In the other two, maybe it's
behind them, try and push them out of the way, and all of a sudden there is an explosion.
And then another explosion. There we go. Good. Four explosions are these three mimics that were rigged to explode.
Go. Boom. Part of the hallway collapses and their bodies cause a roadblock. The other two mimics
are scrambling behind reaching through this new barricade towards you. Block him off. You're
reaching more like fuck. Okay, I don't. I don't have any more of those.
Folks, welcome to Dungeons and Randomness. Since 2012 myself and an amazing cast of 18 have
been telling stories in our homebrew world of theory. Four different groups explore lost ruins,
run for political office, rage against a mad king, set sail to long forgotten islands, and so much more.
Every group has a different story and flavor, and every season or arc has a new set of groups and
stories, all building the history of our world with every single session. Literally hundreds of
hours of stories are waiting for you as part of the Pick X Network. Check out Dungeons and Randomness
wherever you get your podcasts. And we'll see you around the table.
God damn it. I follow the other ones. Follow the other meat bags. Let's go.
You know what? I'm still going to take a pot shot at, wait, out of the desert. You're saying
the other two mimics are trying to crawl through? Can they? They're reaching through. They're
not going to be able to get through. The bodies have created a literal roadblock.
Employment floor to ceiling. It's four mimics worth of material.
Well, at least we're trapped, but at least we don't have to deal with
six of those. We don't have to deal with anyone. We're now trapped. Great. Okay.
In the in in in the B.D. Two of them got out, right? They got to the end and they got out.
When they go back through the way they came, right? Right.
So we could go that way. Let's go. I don't want to die. It's only one way to go.
Welcome to the club, Charlton. Okay. The club I've nobody wants to die.
Are we, are we shut up, Charlton? Okay.
You owe me a new phone. Are you dead? Okay. You turn the corner, walking away from this
mimic blockade, passing by the elevator room. You saw from the B.D. The pit and illusion.
The two elevators red and green dormant. You've ruined this B.D. by blowing up that wall.
Oh, I mean, yay. What? We can celebrate later.
Can celebrate later. You get to the north of this corridor and it turns right. As you walk down,
you can see a few hatches in the walls and a big pair of metal sliding doors.
Every time we get to a new area, I'm going to look to Toby because she's the only one
who's seen any of this active before. So every time we get to a new place, like now what?
Like just like she is a road map according to you are. You are a little, you're a little taken back.
This area wasn't in the vid. You're off script now. This is exactly what I was afraid of.
What do you remember? Like what came next? The dumbass I was inside died back there.
I don't know. I told you. Well, no, bring the brain dance from what you watched.
You there was the pit. Then there was the head in the hand and then the elevators,
but that's fucked up now. So there's nothing else I have to be elevators?
I died. She died. They died. You didn't think she didn't get to see that part. That happened.
You know, I experienced the end of mortal coil. And I'm going to deal with that by smoking
more of your weed later. Right now, I don't have any idea what we're supposed to do.
I don't think a grenade's going to open that door. Well, we've got a couple of hatches which we
could still fucks around with. Or what would oh and the store. We could just do
Roblox? Like the buddy Jeb would do. 15. You see a small computer console next door.
I'll go over that. Right there. Retro, you're leaning against one of the hatches.
It looks just like one of the hatches that you opened earlier.
I'm going to think about for that second because I've just realized something looking at that
from my eyesight. It looks like at the end of the hall here, it turns the corner.
Yeah, it does. And as you're looking in the distance, you hear a screaming
and the distinct distance splattering of blood.
From that side? From the north. Oh, damn.
One down. Where the fuck did that come from?
See my PA system here? I do. Motherfucker. He's clever too.
That really grinds my gears. That would just make me look to our group.
It's like did we lose one? No, the other two ran away. Remember when the movement came?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you want to go take a look to see if they are around?
Because I don't know if they got to that door. I'll see what I can do with this hatch.
Okay, I'm pretty good with tech, but yeah, no, I could go look at that too.
Sure. Well, yeah, there's like two other hatches. Maybe they climbed in those.
I'll go up to the first one and open it if I can. Yeah, sure.
Should I go over to this one here? On the other side? Let's do it. Yeah, roll lock pick.
See, I'm less good at that. You want to borrow the lock pick that I have?
No, I think I'd like to crit one, please. Yes, you crit fail and you pull a nail.
I'll follow your fingers. Pull a full nail. It's been delaminated off as you get it caught
between two pieces of metal. And it makes that horrible metal feeling. And I just want to six.
So you take six damage from that? Yeah, dude, god. Blood jets out of your finger.
And you hear laughter, wasn't even trying.
Why does he have to be so mean for the computer?
I'm assuming the electronics, uh, electronic security tech,
or you can bullshit with something else if you like. It's true.
So what does the screen look like? Is it just a password thing?
It's just a password thing. It's just a little numpad lock.
All right, it looks like original tech from the old, from the original form of this building.
I'm gonna roll criminology. Nice.
To see if I can figure out what numbers were used. 14. So like, are any of them like faded,
like Sherlock Holmes stuff? Yes, big green stuff out. Okay.
6-9 and 6-9. Easy. All right, guys. 6-9, 6-9.
You push the buttons on the lock without checking if everyone is ready.
And the door opens. Before you say two large clowns.
By two mimics, to his left in a pit on the ground is one of the tunes you just saw running
up the corridor, impaled on a series of spikes that have exposed themselves to the ground.
One down, the clown cocks his head diagonally.
This is new. Your debts will make so much money.
96. 96.
The door tries and shuts and he puts his hand up.
You see one of his fingers glow and the door reopens. Not in my house.
Oh, shitty AZT powers.
Welcome home.
Ruff or initiative?
I did it. Organize it automatically.
Wow, Death Mosque rolled really low.
Holy balls!
Guys, we might be okay, potentially, maybe.
Retro.
What's your. Lumin, what's your reflex?
Uh, four.
Four.
Retro, your reflex is higher, so you go above Lumin.
You might have caught me a little by surprise,
but I'm gonna have you laughing to the gray.
That's all I want to point out.
I have a flashbang.
I'm throwing a grenade.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Everyone else in there. There's no one in there right now if we want to. We could save anyway.
And that's exactly. Like, we are in the exact right position
for me to throw this grenade.
I'm in front.
I'm first in initiative.
Death Mosque is directly in front of me.
And Thomas and we just do it as a reflex.
I feel like. 96, 96 didn't work.
Just flings it like a frisbee to stop.
But yeah, after that, I'm fucked, so. Wow.
And combats.
And combats begins. So, where is. Tell me is there. Lumin, you are here.
You move, you see, you guys can see into the room.
Sheldon is hiding behind this wall.
As you look into the room, as combat begins,
you see a few more of these virtual pits
that you've seen around in some of the trap rooms.
There is a medical part at the very north of this room.
A few machines to control some stuff.
Some screens on the walls.
Some lockers.
But none of that. Matters.
As you watch, Tommy throw a grenade into the room.
Roll for that.
How?
Roll shoulder arms.
Or brawling up to you.
It's like. I don't see. Oh wait, ranged weapons.
Shoulder arms.
Okay, they're the same.
So. I'll do brawling just because that feels more. Lumin.
I have inspiration.
You do.
I'm going to use inspiration.
Hmm?
Okay.
All right.
Should I not?
Don't forget there's also a lock point.
Oh, it's up to you.
Yeah, you can spend luck on any roll you want.
Oh, sweet. I have a live extra of those
because I thought it was a different thing.
What does lock points do?
You burn them.
So you have to say before you roll,
and you say I'm spending three luck,
and then that gives a plus three to that roll.
But it's gone forever.
Not forever until you rest.
But for the purposes of this adventure,
you only have the luck you have
because it will not refill during this adventure.
You got it.
Okay.
So I'll do inspiration and burn three luck.
Cool.
And this time, I'm going to do the proper roll.
I feel like doing the brawling is what fucked me up.
I should have shoulder arms.
I should have been honest.
True.
And so 15.
Okay.
That is very good.
Very good.
Yes.
The grenade flies into the room.
And it is at this moment that you realize
that this motherfucker can dodge things.
Oh, shit.
He's got a reflexive aid, too.
He has a reflexive aid, unfortunately.
He is going to attempt to evade.
Hmm.
Oof.
Oh, my God.
Jesus Christ.
Any dodges?
Yeah.
Does it at least get the mimics?
Yeah.
Yeah, of course it's the same.
Yeah, regular grenades.
56 damage, please.
Demimics reflex, okay?
Oh, depends who's running them.
That's right.
19.
Swoods.
19 damage.
Yes, it does.
There is.
There is.
Yes.
Absolutely.
These two mimics get hurt.
Holy shit.
Does that mean that they roll more damage than?
No, it means that these two mimics take a specific critical injury.
Oh.
Yeah.
So not only did you deal damage, you also critical injury them at the same time, don't you?
Yes.
It's pretty dope.
It is pretty dope.
I was making fun of an explosion, but, you know, hey.
Yeah.
I mean, I think it's all about the throw.
Are you like a champion frother?
She's just very lucky.
That's why I gave her some Thai luck.
Is things just tend to work out for her?
Okay.
One of them, their arm snaps in half.
And that means that their attack has been reduced.
It is a metal machine.
But you see this arm snap.
And then the other one breaks its leg and has a -4 to move.
You see it crack.
As it's now fallen on the floor and has gone prone, stepping back from the explosion.
Death mask, the clown, leases at you across the battlefield.
Grenades are a row of five of one.
However, you can move your movement from where you're standing if you like.
A side note about cyberpunk red.
Cover is all or nothing.
There is no partial cover.
If you can be seen, you can be shot.
All right.
And my movement is. It's one of your main stats.
Move.
Oh, move, six.
Okay.
Tell me, you move behind a wall away from the damage that you have wrought.
Your grenade caused some damage.
But didn't set anything on fire because this place is fairly clinical.
There's a scorch on the ground.
And you can't see anything else in that room because you've stepped away.
You do hear the worrying of a mimic.
You hear the sound of someone
that you don't recognize, making noise.
Oh, that does no good.
Oh, here's a crunch of bone.
Ow.
As the mimic pammles into something in the darkness.
You hear it rear back again.
22, holy shit.
Oh, my god.
That's really bad.
And you hear bones crack as you'll fairly certain somebody has gained a critical injury.
And you hear him wail in the dark.
Shit.
Retro, it's your turn.
I was hoping that there wasn't anyone else alive, so I could just free fire.
But now I have to be careful.
I mean, I opened with grenades, so like. We didn't hear that till afterwards.
I was thinking I got to be careful now.
George sucks anyway, he was going to cut off my fucking hand.
Yeah, that is true.
That is fair point.
I would like to. Try to think.
I think I'm just going to have to do the shotgun.
I was trying to think if there was anything else I could do.
You know what, I want to take an aim shot.
Oh, shit.
You're going to step forward, you're a bit far.
Yeah, I already moved to, so. I'm going to aim for the center.
Because if there's something telling me you're going to try to push me in that pit and it's not going to be good.
So you're going to stay in the middle of the room so that you know it near the pits.
And death mask is to your left.
Nice shot with the grenade, James.
It's pretty, you know what, I don't know.
The clown sucked and I shoot him with the shotgun.
Right?
Roll for it.
He got me flustered, I don't know what to do.
What is this minus seven, right?
Minus eight.
Minus eight.
Andy can dodge.
Oh yeah, I forgot that.
Right, two points of luck in this.
It's spicy.
It's not all of it, but. You're not far though.
It's like, what?
15 feet?
Yeah, just about.
Sorry, I almost did a special attack.
That would have been bad.
25.
Yeah.
Plus two.
He's 27.
Minus eight is 19.
19 still?
Pretty fucking high, might do.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I can get surgery.
I don't dodge.
I don't dodge.
You hit me.
17 damage.
It was a body shot, right?
No, that shot.
Oh, that hurt.
Look, we're going big for that.
Look, you know what?
Roll 20.
You made it up for me.
All right.
You gave me three negative ones in a row.
God damn, did you come in clutch when I remember the shotgun
and a aimed head shot.
Oh, I love this game.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
He gets pushed back, but not into the pit.
And you see that he smacks his head against the chair next to him
and is now holding the side of his head.
Oh.
That's going to sting in the morning.
[LAUGHTER]
Clowns are horrible.
[LAUGHTER]
Wait, no, he gets the crit engine, doesn't he?
I did, yeah, no, yeah, I'm telling you.
You-- oh, sorry.
Because you're not a medical professional.
You don't know what it is.
But I'm giving you context clue.
He's putting his hand, going to think or not.
Bits of blood and our pouring down his face
as his sub-dermal arm leads over his eyes
and blood drips down from the side of his nose.
His pupils dilate as he looks at you,
laughing meannically.
[LAUGHTER]
I want to make so much money from this.
Well, that's a right-of-fire one, right?
Strong punch, but only one shot.
He steps back and grunts a little more.
Looming to your town.
This puts me at a spot.
Friturus stepped into the room.
And all I have left are tear gas and flashbang grenades.
So I'm going to use my launcher and just hook a flashbang
in there.
Sounds great.
I would like to use all my luck, if I can.
You can.
You are quite far.
Are you moving towards the opening of the door?
Ah, hell, um.
I mean, you've got at least one piece of cover.
Yeah.
Yeah, you could stand in the doorway.
And I'm going to use eight luck on this.
God damn.
I want to hit.
I want this to-- I want this.
Sure.
I'm right at the clown.
Right at the clown, but--
I hope for right.
Right at the clown.
Yeah, but he rolled a nine on an inch to hold.
[SCREAMING]
Ah!
[SCREAMING]
What?
The ever-living fuck.
I--
I like this game.
Not only did you roll a crit to hit,
you also rolled a crit damage with your flashbang.
You fire your flashbang grenade, and it
soars past Retro's head, making him dodge.
It's an oh shit moment, as you feel the wind of this grenade
passed by your ear that noise as it comes out
of the grenade launcher.
There's a sense of joy it gives you, Retro.
Lumin, you can't believe your luck
as you watch the grenade fly across,
hit the middle mimic between--
you've got three targets.
You've got death mask, mimic one, and another mimic
right next to him.
And you hit the mimic in the chest.
And the grenade gets launched inside of their chest,
and then goes off.
The concussive force of this flashbang
causes the mimic to literally come apart.
It blows into a multitude of pieces.
Smashes, oh, it's here.
Shrapnel flies out from him, causing half of the damaging
rolled to everyone around said mimic.
Oh!
That's 15 damage to the clown.
And 15 damage to the other mimic, which is more than it has.
And you see this other mimic that was next
by almost incredulously look over, as it also breaks apart
as a piece of shrapnel cuts off his neck,
and it falls to the ground.
You destroy two mimics and harmed the clown,
and he looks at you.
Oh.
You're a professional, are you?
That's fun.
Do you do anything else?
It's pretty epic, just staring disbelief from him.
I just believe I'm a fucking disbelief.
Yeah, Retsford turns around also in disbelief.
What the fuck?
If I tell this story to Jeff, like Jeff would be like,
it's impossible.
There's no way we could do that.
That doesn't happen.
Flashbangs get into the like, I witnessed it.
I've seen it in the wild, yeah.
Yeah, that's it.
I agree.
Jesus.
Five.
And mimic climbs out of the pit to your west retro
and comes up towards you.
It smiles at you, moving like a spider
with its arms arched backwards.
Its head turned around, the two two flapping in the air
as it shelks towards you.
It flips around and goes to attack.
That's very pathetic.
It's the excesses mimic now to bring you to the spider crawl.
Oh my god.
Rip bail.
It slips one of its feet falling, causing itself damage.
However, because of the nature of melee attacks,
it is a raider fight.
It attacks you again.
This time with a minus one, because of that crit fact.
Beautiful team.
OK.
OK, let's see if retro--
nope, that doesn't matter.
It's invading, that's right.
Yes, it is.
Oh, retro, you're on a crit fail.
You get kicked in the dick.
No.
Did you just say nine as an expletive?
Nine, oh.
[LAUGHTER]
You know what?
Yes, I did, because you know what?
That's nine fails.
Nine crit fails to nine.
And of course, nine would be causing this to me.
That motherfucker--
[SIGHS]
[LAUGHTER]
Retro falls over and is now prone.
[LAUGHTER]
I know this symbol above his head is a guy
with three hours in his back, but that's
what it feels like to be kicked in the nuts by robot.
The foot is metal.
The clown looks at you.
[LAUGHTER]
Not shot.
[LAUGHTER]
In first person, that's going to be fantastic.
[LAUGHTER]
That mimic is dead.
That mimic is also dead.
Sheldon runs across the opening, and attempts
to shoot the mimic that just kicked Retro in the nuts
with their pistol.
And they miss.
They fire again, and they hit.
Look at that.
Yeah.
If the mimic doesn't dodge, but we'll see.
As the bullet comes closer, you watch the mimic see the bullet.
Does it dodge?
Nope.
It gets hit.
It gets hit, and it takes damage.
But you do. Don't keep people in the nuts, it's rude.
Sit, Sheldon.
No, true.
Retro gives a thumbs up to this person
that they've only just met.
Someone has to acknowledge what happened.
Sheldon tries to get to cover, but doesn't quite
have enough movement to do so from some of the combatants.
Danger.
But now everyone's in danger, because it's death mask's turn.
He shakes his head, lightly, laughing at you, Retro,
as you hold your groin in pain.
[LAUGHTER]
He takes a step forward, leaning against computer,
pulls out a whip, and slashes it towards you.
Oh.
Kinky.
And whips it towards you.
Oh.
These are just those ones where he's striking the air
to be intimidating.
Yes.
Snack.
Snack.
Be it 15, Retro.
Ooh, yes.
Which way are you stepping?
Swirling.
Yeah.
You have to move on a dodge.
Yeah, I think I agree.
I've been hitting the nuts.
I'm not taking a step.
I think I'm having to do a barrel roll.
Cool.
You're doing right left or back?
It's going to be right.
Instinct-wise, Retro's a righty, so you always go
to whatever your instinct is.
Right?
You roll right in front of Lumin on the ground.
Death mask takes another step forward.
Points a gun at Lumin.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
One on the ground.
And now you're done.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
I don't.
Do you ever reflex about the rate?
No.
You don't.
You're the only person in this room who doesn't--
I have a bullet.
I do have a puffy jacket.
You do have a puffy jacket.
It is eight.
Defense.
This means you deduct your defense from that damage.
So you get three damage, and your armor goes down
by one, so you're on something.
Wow, that is a good jacket.
And that's the end of Death Mask's turn.
Ooh.
It's Tony's turn again.
Round two.
Tell me you really thought we were all going away.
And when she sees that you had it,
she's going to like roll her eyes.
Fine.
One, two.
Me, anyway.
I'm going to use my pistol on Death Mask.
Big rolls, big rolls, big rolls.
It's 20 feet away.
All right.
17.
Yeah.
That's enough.
I love how you have zero in fucking handgun.
Yeah.
Start firing.
No idea how to use this.
You watch a piece of armor fly off.
You don't do a lot of damage, but that gun is a rate
of fire of two.
13.
Let's just say.
20 feet is a 13. Yes, that does hit more of his armor, peels off his body. It takes a little bit more
damage. Can see blood seeps through his clothing as the bullet wounds underneath start to give way.
There's a mimic in a pit to your right retro, and it looks at you as it holds up the arm
of this man on the ground. Well, not again. It turns its head and its jaw opens revealing a large
set of belated teeth. No. And it goes to try and sever this man's arm and is successful.
Oh! The arm rits apart and we see this man cry in pain.
He is on his last legs. He is bleeding all over the ground. Look at his butt! I got it! The butt!
Unfortunately, that is 12 damage, which is more than this guy has, and this guy dies. The
ground is the mimic, turns towards you, and calls out of the pit. It's undamaged, unharmed, and on your tail.
Retro. It's your turn. I'm going to hope that Lumen has this,
because there's only one thing I can think of at the moment, and that's,
well, that's resettling a deck. The clown has taken my joy, so I will take the clown's life
fair enough, and I'm going to flip my KTAC hammer and shotgun mode to rocket launcher mode.
God damn! And I'm going to fire it directly between the death mask and the mimic there.
You may burn all your movement to move back one with Lumen, or you can take half your movement to
move back without him. Let me do the first one, because I'm going to move back right here,
but I'm going to try to push Lumen out the door. Oh, interesting. All right, yeah. Lumen, do you let him?
I think he knows what he's doing, so I've asked people to move, and yeah, okay, yeah. Retro just does
a reverse combat rollback, gently trying to push Lumen back. You'll be back blast clear.
Do you have a quip as he pulled the trigger? Fuck you, Ronald.
Nice. Oh my gosh. Now he does get a chance to dodge this, but that's a 19 on me.
Amazing. Oh, not enough. I'm just looking at the damage score. Yeah, me too.
This round projectile flips through the air, gains momentum and fires off like a rocket towards him.
Style over substance. You really wish those things just fired straight in the first place,
but it was really cool in this moment. So it spins in the air, it shoves into the middle of this
clown who's standing next to a second to mimic, and you watch him look down. Look up.
Tilt his head, explode.
Doing 37 damage. Even if I did GM bullshit, I couldn't, because he only has 12 health left.
You did more than double his health.
Parts of his body blow all over the place. Anyone in the room is covered in viscera,
and the only person alive in the room is Retro. Lud splatters across the front of your body.
The mimic next to him also turns into dust as he's utterly destroyed.
The dust settles, and the only thing left in this room is a singular mimic.
But
says Retro as he wipes the blood away from his eyes.
That was disgusting.
I'm covered in blood though. Lumin, there's only one other compatible left in this room.
I find a flashbang at it. It worked really well last time.
Sure, roll for it.
Oh my god, what are you doing with these crit successes?
You step into the room, pull the trigger on your flashbang, and it knocks.
It does a ricochet through this room.
You think you miss, and it flies past the mimic's head, bounces off a computer,
sails off a screen, and then shoves into the back of its abdomen from the front.
The robot looks down, and the concussive force of the flashbang explodes in its chest cavity,
severing it in half.
These things only have 30 health, you do 34 damage.
Minus, that's probably.
And it explodes into shrapnel. So much damage is caused, there's no scrap to take,
which honestly would upset Retro if he wasn't covered in blood.
And combat is over. You look across the carnage of this room.
Two more people dead, and a clown.
The end of the brain dance killer.
An answer to a story, and some trauma to talk to your therapist about.
Hey, how are your balls?
Everyone might be missing.
Thank you so much everyone for joining us here for Halloween.
We got to do it with Dungeons and Randomness. It's absolutely fantastic having you with us.
Please do your shameless plugs as we say goodbye to October.
Oh, God, yeah, we're from Dungeons and Randomness.
We've been around for very long time doing D&D stuff.
We've been telling a story in one homebrew world the entire time,
the world of Theria, and if you're interested, start listening to Frostborn.
We started that. We're up to like episode 60 or so,
but there are recaps every 20 sessions, and it's really easy to jump into.
And where can you find out more information about that?
Oh, my God, you're right. You can go to dandrpodcast.com or you can look for our discord
or anywhere you can find us, there are links to the major stuff.
Excellent. And there will be links in the description of this episode and all of the episodes in this
site quest, right? Yeah, everything Jason said, dnrpodcast.com.
You can check us out on Patreon if you would like. We have some freebies there.
And definitely check out the discord because it's right there.
Thank you for having us retro. Please, of course, plug your stuff.
Yeah, I stream on Twitch playing games and also doing some homebrew that a person I have come
together to make called No Protocol. It is pretty successful. Just started and already
nominated for an award. We didn't win, but we got nominated. So that's something.
It does. And the other great thing about our homebrew here at No Latency is that
it is free. It's free. And it's free. You can just download it, free PDF, some of them even have
free maps. It's great. And also, if you're a fan of mine, please go and check out Dungeons

in Night City.
All right. So I can just move my six squares. Or you can run, you can run now because you've
done things. But if you wanted to run, you could run 12 squares. Each square is about five feet.
Two. Oh, and I know you also count. Yes. Diagonal is one on our table. You don't have to do
corner bullshit. Yeah, that's what that's what we do too. I never understood the corner bullshit.
I don't understand people who do that. That's fucking stupid. It seems like if you're doing that,
you're a bad person and I'm judging you. Yeah, you're mean. We don't like it.
But also, can I get the, I've been hitting the nuts noise.
Thank you. I will
probably be quiet for the next minute after this.
So I'm going to hit myself in the leg as close as possible.
I think that'll be the, oh, you don't have to method it.
You can go, no, I want the method.
Oh, it's going to be a bunch of things.
Please, please, please, please be careful with your testicle.
Yeah, I'm not a kink show.
Yeah, just, retro falls over and is now prone.
Very good Halloween, that was so good.

FAQs
A mimic is a doll that can transform into any form and can be remotely controlled by someone, either by a player or an unknown force.
Mimics appear in the hand room and move silently through the ground, often wearing a tutu and dancing. They can be controlled remotely and attack players when provoked.
A flashbang causes a loud explosion, blinds and disorients enemies, and can severely damage or destroy mimics, especially when it ricochets through the room.
The hand room is a key location in the game's narrative, representing a finale scene where characters face danger, conflict, and the threat of mimics.
Players use lockpicks to open locked doors or hatches, which allows access to new areas, such as a secret door at the end of a hallway.
Reflexes determine how well a character can dodge attacks or react to threats, such as when a mimic or clown attempts to attack during combat.
