Ninja III: The Domination (1984)

In this podcast transcript, the hosts of "Analog Jones of the Temple of Film" review the 1984 Cannon film *Ninja 3: The Domination*. They describe it as an insane and chaotic movie with a plot that makes little sense, following a ninja who, after a massive killing spree, possesses an aerobics instructor named Christie. The hosts emphasize the film's exaggerated action, including a lengthy opening sequence where the ninja kills numerous people, absurd stunts like kicking a car and attacking a helicopter, and low-budget effects. They critique the disjointed storytelling, random romantic subplots, and bizarre elements such as a possessed arcade game and a sex scene involving V8 juice. Additionally, they note the film's role in the 1980s ninja craze and its lack of narrative coherence, concluding that it's a quintessentially ridiculous Cannon production that is both baffling and entertaining.

Time to fire up the VCR. This one's my favorite. [music] Welcome to Analog Jones of the Temple of Film, I'm Steve. I'm Chris. And hello, I'm Brad. And we're a VHS podcast that looks at the Voxyard trailers and behind the scenes. And we're doing another Canon film. It's my pick. And if you can't read Chris, what did I pick? We're watching 1984's Ninja 3, The Domination. A subtitle that makes no sense. I got the same. To the ninja, Revenge of the Ninja and Enter the Ninja. But no chronological order. Well, did you see the same actor as in Ninja 2 and Ninja 3? I never checked to see if he was playing a different character. And I, Chris, check that out for us. I thought it was part of the American Ninja series. No, no, no, that's a different one. Which main guy? A black ninja. The Yamada. Yamada. Yamada. All right, he'll get through it. But I picked this because it's absolutely insane. The first time I ever watched this was with Matt the previous. I applied to the same character. Okay, so there is a tiny bit of connection, but I think it's mostly bullshit. And I think he was the main character in Revenge of the Ninja. And now he's a secondary character. But yet he's part of the finale, which we'll talk about going through the movie. Anyway, first time I ever saw it was with the original co-host here, Matt, at a movie night. And it just blew my mind. But you know what a movie night people are talking. They're drinking. They're smoking. They're eating popcorn. It's hard to fully pay attention. So you know, I was getting up getting pizza and coming back. So I didn't get to really digest this film until we reviewed it. And I watched it twice in the last two weeks. And holy moly. Holy moly. It's a lot to take in. Yeah, it's a lot to take in. It's a lot to digest as you say. And I watch it twice also. I will agree with that. Yeah. There's a lot going on here. So it sounds like I was the only one who had seen this beforehand for you to. It was the first time. Yes. All right, that makes sense. How about that first 10 minutes? Oh my lord. The director. He said he likes to get right into it. You know, you want a seven minute action scene to start things off. And he kicked a car into the water. Oh, the hell after seeing with the ninja star. We'll talk about it. That's that. It's just. What? I'm over here. What? All right. Before we get into it, I'll describe the, because I've got the VHS here. I'm going to go ahead and see what I'm going to do. And I'm going to go ahead and see what I'm going to do. the previous versions of the previous entries here. Lucinda Dickie is Christine Ryder. Jordan Bennett plays Billy C. Cord. James Hong, who is an American born to Chinese immigrants plays. Meishima, Meishima. David Chung, a Korean American plays Black Ninja Hendero. So in their casting, they're just like, "Oh, do they look Asian?" Like, I guess they're Japanese now. Well, and then the stunt double for her, and I think the "The Black Ninja" as well, which I don't know why he's called Black Ninja, because he's not wearing anything black. But anyway, he was from Israel. I'm so sorry. I love it. They don't care. Oh, I love this so much. You put so many in a suit that covers everything about their eyes. Yeah, just who cares? Just put some. A lot of eyeliner in this movie. A lot of eyeliner. Real edgy. I guess maybe that's how Ninja's role, baby. All right, well, I am ready to watch the trailer on this. What are you guys thinking? Yeah. Do this. All right, here we go. It's time to share, and it's time to play. He is the most feared and powerful warrior. A ninja who breaks from ancient tradition and explodes onto America. [shrieking] Oh, man! [screaming] His soul possesses the body of an innocent woman and transforms her into a lethal assassin. [screaming] Who are you? [screaming] [grunting] [grunting] [grunting] I want to help her! Only an ninja. Destroy an ninja. Her only hope is your mother, the master ninja, who has been sent to destroy him. Where revenge of the ninja left off, ninja 3 begins. An epic struggle of superhuman strength and supernatural forces. Ninja 3, the domination. Pretty sure it was supposed to be ninja 3, the. I don't know, like exorcism? I don't know. Yeah, the jazorcist. The jazorcist is great. There's so many exorcist scenes in this. Just fog blowing everywhere. A dummy spinning around in the circle. Loved it. Alright, well, I guess I'm tasked with trying to explain to everyone what we watched. It's a good time, but you know, have some patience. Here we go. We got a Japanese man in a white suit with a mustache. You don't see many. Well, actually he's not actually Japanese, but he's Japanese. Playing a Japanese character. And yeah, he enters a cave to get all of his ninja weapons. Dude, that is so weird. The rock has like a glowing. It's just full of LED lights inside of a rock. I mean, we have no idea why this. Here's what's amazing about this. You as an audience member have no idea what this ninja's doing here. Why these weapons are here and what he's going to do with it. And you never find out the entire movie. How does weapons get there in the first place? No clue. Is he assassinating someone? That is my question. I assume. I assumed it was one of the golfers. Yeah, the only golfer he kills. 'Cause the rest. They murder everyone there. I thought the other two just get away. No, I thought he killed him all. He killed the girl. So they're dead. Yeah, he got him. Yeah, he got the main guy, the rich guy, which I assumed was who he was trying to assassinate. He killed the girl. Maybe his wife. Maybe a hooker. Maybe his thing on the side. Maybe a girlfriend. We have no idea. It doesn't really matter. And then he kills four security guards. Yeah, yeah, that's everybody then. I got you. Yeah, so I mean. Like within a few minutes, he's already killed six people. And then the cops are called by the two security guards. And good for those security guards getting away, by the way, 'cause they came up in the end and they're like, "Someone called cops. We're out." I killed a lot of people. We're going home. Yeah, I actually did the official count. I just hope I'm right. So yeah, the cops arrived. So we get two motorcycles and then a cop car for the two cops. And he jumped from the roof. We go back and say, "I can first off, no, man, you don't go golfing with your wife. And you're going to be that happy." You're like, "Oh, you don't go golfing and be happy." Now, golfing's a lot of fun with your friends, even if you don't know how to play. You just hang out with your friends and smack things. All right. Okay, sorry. I think you like it. I've went with people who have never. I don't know, but leading causes of the health and crisis. And they increase the chance of cancer within a mile radius of them. Yeah, but that's. I don't live next to a golf course. Okay, cool. Am I used to? Yeah, I used to live right next to one. So. Yeah. Oh, no. Yeah, crap. Go get checked. Bye, bye, Brad. This is going on, yeah. We're going to have to end this soon, I guess. Well, maybe Brad will be taken out by an Inja and then he doesn't have work. Never see it coming. I always stay like the one cops. He's like, "Get your gun. Shoot him. Shoot the room. Stabs one guy and then punches out the other guy. It doesn't really matter because the car flies into that pond and slash late." Dude, I thought he kicked it. He threw his rope around the tree and then flung. That's how he kicks the two motorcycle guys. Yeah, and then the car right after goes into the light too. Oh, wait, no. Did he just kick a car? Does he kick the guys in the motorcycle swinging later in the movie? He throws Chinese stars at the two motorcycle guys. Yeah. I mean, this is happening so fast. And then a helicopter shows up and he jumps on the helicopter from a tree. Yeah, everybody that is listening that hasn't seen this has to realize that all the cops drive poorly. Like, the motorcycles can't keep up with the guy running on foot. And like, all this is happening and you're just trying to remember or figure out what the hell you're watching. Yeah, and a lot of the car scenes are sped up like this. Yeah, you can definitely tell that. But you know, it's kind of like the police are on the scene quick on this guy and he's running around and climbs that tree. They think they got him jumps and gets that helicopter. Just hilarious how he takes those guys out. I mean, I knew this was something special when the ninja on the helicopter puts a star between his toes and throws it because he's not at the good angle and then throws it and kills the helicopter pilot. The helicopter pilot is dead and the other cop goes, don't worry. I'll get him. That's what I was. Don't worry. I got to part. I think it'd be very worried right now. That was just flying this thing. I do love how it crashes behind the mountain. Yeah, that's the same little few bucks there. Yeah, you don't want to take out your only helicopter. I'm sure can and reuse that helicopter like every movie. And uses it as the camera copter. Yeah, it's. Oh, yeah, I'm sure they've repainted that thing like a dozen times or more. Just like, oh, now it's going to be a blue police helicopter one movie. Oh, man. And then so the best party jumps out of the helicopter and then he uses his blow dart like pipe for a snorkel and then immediately. You could see the one cop staring and he goes, oh, I wonder what that is. It's shot with a blow dart. Then it goes from 60 to 120. He's completely dry. The next scene. Yes. And yes. And then just killing cop after cop after cop after cop. I did my best to count this. I've got the death count as four security guards, two civilians. Those are the golfers, two cops in a car, two motorcycle cops, three helicopter cops, one helicopter down, one late cop, then 17 after that for a total of 31 dead and 25 of the murder cop. That's about what I came up with too. And that's more than terminator. That's the engine force terminator when Arnold storms the police station. Yeah. It's intense. But then you got like four cops that circle him after killing like 15 cops right in a row. And they all fire him, fire at him with every gun they got. And he throws a smoke bomb and just like burrows into the ground. Oh, yeah, they went like Robo cop on them there. They just were tearing into them. And then my favorite one of those cops shooting him was the guy the motorcycle cop with the with the cigar and his mouth chewing the cigar the whole time. You think the smoke would get in your eye. It might not be late. Some people just chew on him. All right. I didn't actually. Yeah, I can't remember if it was lit or not. I don't. There's too much going on. of washes twice. Yeah, and you see the flashback of them like six times. So that's true. Oh, yeah, that's right. Yeah, when she sees the cops every time there's a flashback. So the ninja somehow gets away. But don't worry, we meet Chrissy, our telephone line woman. And she sees the ninja and immediately goes, Hey, buddy, needs help? Then he attacks her. And then he starts yelling at her in Japanese. So she walks back to him. Yeah, because he's like, Hey, take my sword. But he's just speaking Japanese. I was like, he was just trying. He was just he's covering blood, bullet shots, attacked you. And then you're going back to him, right? I mean, there was a lot less to be afraid of back then. We just didn't know how bad it was. All of us would have approached an ninja 1984. I would have stoked. You bring the here's a funny thing. Canon pretty much introduced the United States and most of the Western world to ninjas because we didn't know what the hell they were. So you wouldn't even have known what this was. Yeah. So we have Canon really to thank for Ninja Turtles, three ninjas. The whole ninja craze, honestly, is because of them love those two Ninja Turtles and three ninjas. Yeah. I mean, it's the whole Kogan vehicle that we all want and that I assume it's the third one or the fourth one. I actually don't know how many three ninja movies there are. Three would be good. You think three would make sense, but you know, 90s movies, kids movies, ninjas movies, you know, it's hard to turn those down just a couple thousand dollars. You can just make it. But yeah, she takes the sword and I find this, I find the cops to be so latched about their investigation. They're just hanging out. Yeah. They go back to the station, remind you that a bunch of their colleagues got killed the line of duty or that day. So they're 25 of them. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like Neil deGrasse Tyson's like doing the interview there. And all they all they say is do you remember to show up to the funeral and he goes, I'll try. That's like only talk about it. And officer Seeker comes over and like starts to hit on her immediately. It's like a just took part in a gun and down this guy later today and saw a bunch of my friends die, but I'm gonna go hit on this woman. Wanting coffee, wanting skittles, want some candy? Like Jesus. I'm now, dude. I'm surprised he didn't like ask her out right there. And then if she would have said no, it'd been like it's no for now. You know, like, because I mean, he ends up falling her. Well, actually, I don't know how he finds out that she is an aerobics instructor. Don't either. It just goes to the aerobic scene and I was real lost. That scene is insane. Like what is going on in that studio? Like what all the guys are in there, just like rough hells and like harassing everybody and then it reminds me of that very famous one with two actors that you guys will know and I'm blanking on their name. One of them is from Halloween and then the other one is from Michael and other movies. John. John. John. Yeah. Perfect. The movie perfect. Where it's a. Yeah. Jamie. Their Curtis and John. Yeah. He's like. He's like. He's good. Yeah. It reminded me of that scene right away. My brain is not good anymore. They were like banging each other on the aerobics floor. Yeah. That's what I was second of when this scene come out. I don't know which one was first, but neither do I. I mean, I guess the aerobics became popular in the early 80s. I assume. I mean, because I feel like it's around. It's in so many 80s films that it's all the tapes we get are from very early 90s made. Yeah. So I don't know. Yeah. That's so much. But I don't know how he figures us out, but he goes to her class. You know, he pretty much crashes a class and then these dudes are harassing a girl. He got an entire crowd of people and a crop. No, they're about to gang rape her and it's like the crowd. It was on there and it's like, Hey, you go fellows. Like so many dudes in that crowd too. Not a single one says anything. No. Then they turn on her. And again, the cop does fucking nothing. Yeah. She beats well, she beats a shit out of them. And then he pretends to arrest her. He's like, Hey, man, you need to calm down. You could have gotten trouble for harassment. And I'm like, what do you mean her? That scene has like one of the stereotypical action kung fu things. She's sitting on the edge underneath the railing and to get up. She like, lips have been over it instead of just standing up. She's like, gotta gotta put cool flips it. Yeah. And then she kicks them all. What she said that was her really doing the stunts and she really did kick them. And they said we can take it. Yeah. So take it. Tough guys. I do love her arcade. And did you guys get to either of you get to read the article about this arcade bouncer? No. Yeah. How it like never really got off the ground. It's in development, but it got never got passed like testing stage. Oh, it was real. Yeah, it's like a legend. It's like a legend tale in the arcade collecting community. Because, you know, they only made so many cabinets for testing and then it never got past that and never got a wide distribution. Oh, that looks cool. Yeah, actually, there's screenshots of it and there's like people like indie gamers that are trying to actually recreate it, which I don't even know how you do it unless you have it seems like that place we went to in Indiana with that that would fit in a place like that. Oh, yeah. We want to. Yeah. Wow. I just I don't I wonder if one even exists. Hopefully someone that used to work, you know, for the company that was creating bouncer has won in the in their basement. Come on, or at least the board. That sucks. But, you know, we got, you know, he ends up giving her a ride home because he pretends to fake arrest her. And she's like, listen, I don't want anything to do with you. And he gets so pissed. He's like, I'm tired of you hating me just because I'm a cop. And she's like, whoa, whoa, you're yelling at me? Come back to my apartment. I'm afraid you're going to hurt me. I like that. But again, he hits on her like right after she almost got assaulted. I don't like what? Oh, fuck. Isn't that one women or hottest? You know, that's sure. I bet that's not the answer. But I'm near. I'm under view. I mean, he beheads those three guys, those two guys. And then all of a sudden he's hooking up in a, I know, it's just crazy. You don't mind sex in movies. I'm just like, can you make it make just a little bit of sense? This is canon. There's no way it's going to happen. It must not make sense. Which like minutes later after she's like taken off a towel and she's just in her underwear. Oh, man, that V8, everyone gets hot off V8. They talked about that in that documentary is like the V8 owes us money. You do. I agree with that. I think they're, I remember like some of the people in the documentary saying, yeah, the script had problems. It was changing every hour. It doesn't surprise me at all. I do know the director and the actor here that played Billy. Thought this would be really funny because you know, she won't drink coffee or soda and everything like that. And she did in the scene before I mentioned she's like, I don't have soda, but I have V8. And they, I just think they did as tongue and cheek. And I don't, I have a feeling they didn't think many people would see this film. One of the directors said he did it because he couldn't get her to get naked. Yes. He's like, well, we got to figure out something, Kinky. I just don't, I, I really don't understand why you do. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. You make V8, baby. Oh, God. Oh, because you made getting that port on you. That's, that's really weird. But anyway, they, they do it with V8 juice everywhere. I assume, I assume there's a lot more V8 juice pouring everywhere during sex on that. It's a pool of it. Yeah. Just have to use your imagination because they don't show us. I don't want to use my imagination on that. I want to see it. I'm really like V8. I just love in the middle of the night. She just wakes up to a glowing sword in her fucking closet. Yeah. On a string. The movie got the weirdest. Yeah, it doesn't look like an authentic katana sword. No, that's, I was thinking that it's like cardboard. But when, the one that like glows and floats, I think it literally was, it literally was like cardboard or like balsa or something. Yeah, they have a real one that they use. And I was like, they just didn't want to use it for these glowing scenes. They might have painted the blade that bluish, goldish color or something to shine like it. Yeah, it was, it was definitely a prop one that they put on a string and somehow made it glow. I did like the poster in the background with the, the sunglasses. Like her eyes kept bleaking. I kept staring at that and I'm like, all right, that's fun. And then at one point this is. this movie she gets possessed by the ninja from her arcade machine which is awesome. Yeah, I think that's one of the coolest scenes. Yeah, um, where does it fit in the ninja genre? No, where? But again, this is canon. So fuck it. We're just going to go roll with it and, uh, it's like they wanted to do an exorcist type horror movie also. I mean, this is kind of what canon does. Like a popular movie comes around and then they shove a bunch of others shouldn't. They're like, oh, flash dance is popular. Let's make a, you know, a female ninja, just like flash dance will give her the same type of hair. I don't know how they got exorcist in here. I really don't. The aerobics make sense. You know, the female ninja makes sense. Make her look like flash dance. I get all that. The exorcist stuff is what is really just like a complete left, you know, like a curve ball out of no. Yeah, it's, it's because that's by the sword or by a spirit. Well, I, that is something too. I don't know. And I was like, I, I'm looking at all the, the photos they have on IMDB right now. And like, when it's not a ninja, it looks really cool. And then when it's a ninja, it looks like a shitty action film. It's two movies. If you look at the photos, anything ninja related looks like a different movie than everything else. It looks like a different film grain. It does too. Yeah. Yeah. So I, I don't know what's up with that. Because some of it kind of looks like like a, like a romantic comedy kind of film grain. And then the rest of it, yeah, looks like a, like an old action movie. Almost from the 70s. It feels like power rangers. Like, where the stuff that came from Japan is filmed different than the stuff that they filmed in America to put the Americans in it. Yeah, that's actually a good way to describe it. Speaking out of nowhere, the Japanese guy, you know, we get our, our, our second main star, I guess you could say maybe we are third, but the ninja comes from Japan to a bunch of older Japanese guys that you never really see again. And they're like, oh, we have bad news. And then, okay, we just continue on with the film. They don't have a discussion with them. They don't go anywhere. It's just, oh, now we're on to Christy Cee's Billy's partner when she's at, you know, on the street working on a telephone wire or whatever she's doing on the ground. And she like has a flashback kind of like just sits there stunned. And then, you know, you see him kill the ninja. She follows them, figures out where they are. And then that night she gets transformed into a ninja from the arcade machine. And then she goes and kills them while he's just drinking beer and playing pool. Just tosses them out the window. Yeah, how does that kill them? By the way, I assume a shard of glass. I don't know. Did you, did you notice she grabbed the, one of the pool balls and crushed it like he did the golf ball? Yes. Yeah. That's to let the audience know it's the same person. They're so strong. I can't remember when the cop got the Billy clubs and was swinging them around. Was that in the beginning? Oh, no, that was after the, that's later than it. That's starting the funeral. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When the cop opens up the trunk, when the cop opens up the trunk and goes, grab the Billy clubs. Oh my god. I need a Billy club too. Here I go. I said, we got the Billy clubs. Oh god. Yeah. So she kills them. I do love how the new, the new Japanese guy who just came from Japan is just sitting there like when the, the ambulance is leaving and the one cop notice. It's like, that's almost like the killer would be like checking out their own work. Yeah, that guy's cool with his iPad. Big coin. Yeah. And why do, why does he have that iPad? Mystery, we find out we do. I tried to, I tried to find this clip. By the way, when, uh, Christie goes to the doctor and this doctor is just like reading straight from the script. She's like, there's nothing wrong with you. I mean, you have ESP and you like Japanese culture and you collect their stuff, but there's, you're fine. You're stressed. Like what, what kind of doctor, did you go to that tells you you have ESP? ESPN. I didn't pay for that. I know it comes with Hulu, but man, that joke's from the 90s dude, except the Hulu part. No, you get ESPN with Hulu. I know you do, but you said ESPN. Yeah, I got you. I got you. I got you. I'm sorry. Brinking dad joke. You know, we've got more class on this podcast than that. Okay. I'll go kill myself. It's okay. Whoa, whoa. I didn't take it out like that. You didn't even have a direction. And if you do kill yourself, at least enter another girl so you can go in a murder screen. Yeah, I got my wife in another room. Speaking of that. So this ninja, I forgot to mention this. The whole overarching point of this movie is a ninja comes to America. Well, actually, we don't know where he came from. A ninja shows up at a golf course. The trailer says he broke the rules and came to America. Yeah, so he, he kills a shit ton of people. And then he's getting revenge on the cops for killing him. But the cops were justified. Like this. They did they not think this out or do they not care? I don't know what's the script. I think people just like watching stuff. Because like if if he was coming, if the ninja, like if the if the cops initially killed like some people from the temple and this ninja came to get revenge on the cops and then the cops are getting revenge, you know, and that kind of back and forth thing, that would make sense. This movie just starts out of nowhere. He's like, hey, how dare you kill me for killing you? I'm going to get revenge. Yeah, that's something like Afro-Acho family few growing on. It's like fucking, it makes no sense. But it doesn't matter, because it's so much fun. Because then Christy follows a cop after the doctor thing. And I have a question. I have a question. I want to ask this guy. What kind of minds is this guy have or what does he have on these girls to he's walking out of the station with like two very attractive women and this guy, he's a he's that Ron Jeremy looking kind of dude there and he's got taller though, at least. Yeah, but he's got these two attractive women arm each side of him armors around both and they're walking out of the station to go hang out in a hot tub. Man, I want you to think about what you asked. What is he? What's his profession? Do you think they're their hookers or they're in there and he said, I'll get you off. Yeah, maybe he's but they but they also the girls kind of act like they do this a lot. So maybe this is like a routine for them. Possibly. So they don't get arrested. No backstory in this movie for anything except for why the guy has a eye patch. No, we do get it. Yeah, she walks right into these for the two girls and these two girls are like, fuck this bitch. Who do you think you are? And then she kills him kills those two. And then you see like I love how there's like a full pack of Miller light behind them. I didn't notice that until the second time viewing. Hey, you girls want to go hang out the spa and hang out in the hot tub and make out and drink some Miller light. Okay. That's what he told them. That's what he promised them. Yeah, they're just like sure. Miller light, baby. Maybe they want a black male eventually. Who knows? Who knows? I guess those two those two other actors says they were scared of this into there. Okay, so you read that too. Yeah. Yeah, that's yeah, she did not. They didn't want to be dunked into the water and she's like, I'm drowning you. You have to go under and she went under for like what? One, two seconds. And then the funny part too was the cop who she killed first, you can see him pretending to like like duck his head underneath the water, but like always keeping his mouth and nose just above. Yeah, he's got a breeze. I wonder if it's a real hot tub because like a lot of movies don't have like the heat up and stuff like that because you're not it's bad for you. Yeah, they probably just got the tub is bad for sitting in them in for extended periods. I'm sure it's just bubbles. Yeah, she wouldn't want to be and bogs up the camera equipment. That too. Yeah. Oh gosh, that was so funny. And then eventually she goes to the the Japanese, I'm going to call him the Japanese voodoo doctor. Who I think like a billion movies. Oh, yeah. I mean, James Wong. Yeah. Which I thought was hilarious right away because I knew for back to he was Chinese and not Japanese. I was like, I love it. Thank you, Canon. Yeah. Yeah. Interviews with him. He said he took told like Asian actors to take any Asian roles they could. He's like, just take anything you can. I mean, you got to eat. And this is the 80s. You know, it's like no one cared about, you know, I mean, they barely cared about continuity, let alone like getting specific countries right where you're from. Yeah. You'd never get a job if you went, no, I'm Chinese. Look at 16 candles. Yeah. What was his name? Matthew Rooney. Oh, I thought you were going to know what was the name of the the Asian character and their friend. Oh, I was talking about the guy that yellow faced. Oh, yeah. And you're talking about wait, was his name that he did that was 16 candles? I thought it was 16 candles from the name is in it because I'm not a man 16 candles. I Don't know I don't know what is called, but yeah, I know what you're talking about. Yeah, where are you like? Did all the Asian makeup and the ice stuff? Yeah, yeah That was I thought that was like in the 50s or 60s or so the oh it's 1961 I was oh Breakfast Tiffany's that's why I think about it Oh, yeah, yeah, from that song I should have known that I've actually seen that movie I Mean it was a lovely role. I don't know what you're talking about. No one was offended I do think that this Japanese, you know black magic person is a total scam artist and he accidentally Found someone that was actually possessed and he's like oh fuck. I don't know what to do here. Do you see how much money he gave him? It was just like a wad I always I guess, you know, it's probably not a talk rice or anything You just gave him a wad of cash and the guys probably like, I don't know 20 bucks Oh, I actually have some of this just to let everyone know if you're about to watch this This is what the scene sounds like it is madness He sounds like now is he in your He is and he wants you to stop who are you? Yama te koe Oh Shimo yama daka deiba It's got a little evil dead in it doesn't it yeah, and she's just flailing around from two chains that are hip just like circling around Yeah, I see that's when I got into this and I'm like, okay, so there's demons This is like some type of he's made a deal with the devil or something because you hear all these like I Got it. I just thought it was the sword on till this point But yeah, now it's like it's opened it up to more things. I thought it was gonna go after this point I thought the movie was gonna go more supernatural Like what you get sucked into the closet and stuff like Well, it like kind of in halfway commits it halfway commits to a lot of things It's just like oh, it's a pure ninja film now. It's also an exorcist film But not quite an exorcist then we got demons, but not really because we never show them and It's really weird. It's all over the place And then we got you know the ninja the good ninja will say breaking into the police morgue, which is Place kind of like a sitcom. Yeah, cuz he's just too good We got to talk about the sweater though I just stared at the sweater was black and have a little blue lines and I'm like oh it hates sweater Yeah, why is the knee in like a ninja suit? Nah, he's outgrown that But he wears an in just to later I don't know. I don't know man But he has a flashback and then we see some older man, which I didn't know if it was his dad or his teacher since they had no idea But I don't think the time to even touch on that just like Also, we know is the black ninja that actually doesn't wear black, but it's called the black ninja in the credits Kills the good ninja or no, it kills the good ninjas whoever and then throws a star through his eye and that's how he loses his eye Yeah, his older lover So we've got the black ninja getting revenge on the cops even though he killed them first And now we've got another ninja the good ninja coming to get revenge on the black ninja that wears white Because he knocked out for gray because he knocked out his eye with an ninja star and killed his dad master since they who knows valid revenge reason Yes So this should have been called revenge of the ninja two That great blue glue That'd have been awesome if it was enter the ninja revenge of the ninja and revenge of the ninja two and it would have been on trilogy More revenge of the ninja Or you could have gone like Rambo and just called it Rambo three revenge of the ninja three even though it's like a sequel to the second one That's true I mean, can it doesn't fall any of these rules anyway, so I guess it really doesn't matter Oh, and then you know she finds out that they're having a funeral for these cops so she Gets well, she's tries to stop the possession. We didn't mention this a lot of times she tries to stop this possession by Jazz-er sizing. Yeah, this time dancing and Well, we're dancing an 80s music synth wave isn't gonna stop a demon from possessing you Yeah, she's done before But this time it didn't work the last time this time the demon is to determine this time Which is kind of like a Freddy bad dream going on here. She gets like kind of like pulled into the Inter closet and then she turns into the ninja goes to the funeral And I have never seen anyone shoot white arrows to kill people before but I'm here for it Did you kill like some high school students there? I don't know like I saw her kill one cop that wasn't even one of the cops That she needed to get revenge for and then kill the other two cops, but yeah, I think she killed some Some innocent bystanders of those arrows too Yeah, I think she was just killing But she does get the two cops So she's she's killed now Three three out of the four right The older cop the guy in the no she's now killed four out of the five because there were five yeah, yeah, she hasn't killed her boyfriend Which I was confused the whole time the minute she got revenge on the first one. I was like her boyfriend was there Yeah, so I assume they're trying to pull off because he was up in the trees or up in the tree line and He didn't actually see that cop because he had already gone underground yeah Somehow he spins We find out later in the movie to get underground he spins I think it's like a drill But when we watch it, it's real slow They just speed it up with the camera It's ridiculous But yeah, when she goes and kills tries to kill these cops and then she tries to get away on foot. I love How these cops turn into stormtroopers and they're like fuck it. We can't hit her with bullets. Let's get the batons out Yeah, and then they they're so strong they're breaking grave stones Yeah It's like what is going on well those batons are made out of anemantium Everyone knows that And the house that they fight in is made of straw Oh one of the little laughs I got is it shows her ninja Jump over the fence with the barbed wire Then the good ninja comes he puts his jacket over the barbed wire So I assume he's gonna climb the fence and go over the barbed wire and his jacket would protect it No, he just leaps over the fence and I'm like What the fuck was the point of putting your jacket there? Yeah, just in case Oh, it's as if there was a script change in there somewhere. I know that was nuts Yeah, and then they fight in a you know a house that's like falling apart and We see the dickie she said like they didn't slow anything down He was like full fighting with her and she had to keep up because that's how he does it. He is that good. He is a very good martial artist That's why he was getting mad at her When she would mess up because he's like I'm gonna hurt you Yeah, it's Well, yeah, he had a lot of problems with her. He didn't like working with someone who wasn't an actual you know professional Which I don't blame him fully, but he shouldn't be mad at her. It's not her fault. It's the company's fault. Yeah Canons the ones putting you in a bad position not her but Anyway, he made it work And the director and even the stunt double the stunt coordinator said she did a fantastic job for someone who had no idea Who just walked onto the set and like by the way we're gonna train you and how to be a ninja so you can keep up You know with all the fighting that you have to do is which is nuts only can and puts you in this bad situation Wow, I'm sure there's also other independent studios, but I mean it does look pretty good In this fight between these two for her just being trained on the spot. Yeah I think she's got a background of the gymnast so she's obviously athletic and and shows Yeah, I mean her to talk in the interview that was on the screen factory DVD or blue ray and and she said I just thought of it as you know choreography Which is So I mean there was he he had a real problem with other things we'll talk about when we get to the ending That's why there's reshoots to the ending in this and I think both of them have a legitimate complaint But she didn't seem very upset at him at all It seemed more the director would tell stories about him like having a problem with her She seemed kind of just like fine with it Because she was she was very demanding on herself too She wanted to get everything perfect. So I think you had kind of two perfectionist kind of bumping heads here Yeah, but she didn't seem to really have a problem with it according to the interviews I saw I don't know there might be more out there All right, so Let's see here. Oh, yes, he eventually helps her escape because he realizes it's hers the ninja not the actual ninja He wants to kill yeah, and he realizes the black ninja or the other ninja that I patch ninja He like is getting free Oh, you mean the black ninja let's her go. I saw weird or when the cop does it when he broke into the morgue He steals the black ninja's original body Yeah, but then when he reveals her face it's almost like he just found out that his body This had to be like shot in the wrong order or the the script changed because it his reaction to her He's just like oh, it's you and then he helps her escape from the cops and he like turns himself in I'm wondering if there's a script change there or something because I'm like what wouldn't he already know that it wasn't going to be The black ninja he already found the guy's body. Maybe he thought it was gonna be a dude And then he would have just go maybe was shocked that it was a woman and he couldn't kill her because it was a woman maybe yeah Maybe I don't know anyway. She gets away. He like gets caught by the cops and then he tells Billy hey Find her find the sword bring it to the temple on the hill I I guess I guess that's enough for Billy to know exactly what he was talking about. Yeah, that's what I was confused on is like why he all the sudden is just That's willing to trust this ninja I want ever to movie and then Billy tries to go like get Chrissy and you know Chrissy is possessed by ninja and He's lucky. He's not dead, but for some reason him screaming like a girl Cause Chrissy the ninja to stop and not kill him and then Chrissy just goes off to the temple and you see the cop following him and I go Well, that's convenient. Everyone's going to the same place I love how easily he escapes the cops by the way. Yeah, that's a good city. Yeah He shoots the I don't know they're sleeping By the way the ability to kick a cop with that shorter range that was in the driver's seat is pretty I mean I know he's not actually kicking him and it's an angle, but still that kick was real. That was pretty impressive That dude knows what he's doing. I like pulling the blow dart out of the eye hole Oh, yeah What else you got in there bud? I love how the bad ninja has like poison that kills him and the good ninja has like sleep darts He's very polite to these cops. He's actually he never kills a cop the entire time No, because even when he was at the funeral, he was just kicking him in the like legs and stuff. Yeah The two dudes at the the morgue. We kind of skipped over it where he gets them close to him and then he bup their head together Knocks him out. Yeah, that's straight up out of like Ninja Turtles or three stooches Mm-hmm. That's why some of this film some of the you know like consistency when it comes to tone is kind of like weird But yeah, like you said before it feels like two different things just slapped together Maybe a third thing sometimes because that exercise scene is like a completely different movie too Like I said, it's like evil dead. Yes, so it's kind of what it's wacky But anyway, we get to the temple he extracts the demon from her Well, I don't even know if you call it a demon. He's stressed the ninja from her the ninja goes back to his original body And they start to fight and what I find really interesting and this is why I say demons is he like Possesses the people in the temple to attack the good ninja And I'm like wait, so you have that power. That's why I assume these were like demons We don't know But yeah all the monks get possessed and turn on the good ninja and I didn't expect that I thought they were gonna help him They never did that either, but he doesn't actually kill them He just knocks them out and escapes the temple runs away from the most the time Yeah, so I assume once he kills the bad ninja. They'll stop being possessed hopefully yeah If you're watching vampire movie that's how they go so So how this movie originally was supposed to end is when he was fighting the black ninja Christie stabs the ninja he dies movie over But after they had edited the film together the actor who was playing the good ninja Was not happy because he's like only a ninja can kill the ninja and you just had her and she's not a ninja Plus I think there was you know some Oh macho shit going on where he's just like the woman should not be the hero. I should be the hero I'm actually the one you know good at fighting So anyway while she was recording break in because this was her first movie They brought her back put her in a wig and then had him fight a little bit more and Stabbed the ninja in the head and then kill him But in an interview I saw her she agreed that the original ending wasn't very good and it needed more and she even said even the Re-shot ending still wasn't big enough compared to like the beginning and I agree with her The ending is a letdown because it's kind of like oh No, it's it's over Yeah, they could have done more with the monks or something so it was like a big fight for a long time That was my thing is like why don't you have the monks and The main ninja he's fighting them all off at the same time and until like a big showdown and he's like at the edge of the cliff And then he I don't know does something to kill you can incorporate some cars some helicopters and motorcycles and yeah I'll make a show up to this. Oh That have been interesting Brad's on to something It's a book in Brad everybody likes pop. Yeah, you want to I'm thinking back to some movies with some great intros And did the outros match like dark night for example Probably one of the most legendary intros ever does the yeah, just last scene match the intensity of the first no It's not even close in this movie That's the problem is like they went too hard at the beginning They needed to kind of pull back just enough and then you know you some of that at the end always save your budget for the end You're gonna have or spend your budget for the beginning and the end and then just fill in the middle Didn't we just talk about a movie where they had to pay for the ending themselves? Yeah, masters in universe. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was like we just talked about that Yeah, always save your budget kid I remember hearing someone say that and yeah, you're not getting another penny from Canon no once they're out of money I Mean this is a two million dollar budget. How much is up of it is actually on camera and how much of it is just a tax bullshit Form I mean I wouldn't be surprised if this film was like $800,000 They would I yeah, and Canon just took the rest of the money that they probably got forwarded from them from like An outside investor, you know overseas investor and just like well, we need to pay for the last movie we made So but yeah, it's kind of kind of sucks seeing it's not that great, but You know as a whole I Don't know what you guys think but I think this is one of the best things I've ever watched When it comes to not being a serious ninja film Do you want our opinions is that we were asking right now? Yeah, yeah, I don't like this movie But it's got parts that I do like like I was saying If it had like sci-fi elements to it or like an alien was involved I would like this movie, but it's just the ninja like action veneer that turns me off so I won't tell anybody not to watch it I didn't enjoy it with you guys I would have had a blast Probably yeah, like when you first seen it with Matt and a party great time to watch it. Oh Yeah, it was it was a lot of fun and The best part was I didn't know anything about it So we're just sitting at a party and just like oh the next movie starting and really like the intro I was I was very into that and then Just kind of faded out. It just didn't keep me Yeah, it does not match the intensity of the beginning. I completely understand that I was like this is crazy Yeah, you're like is this gonna be this way the whole time? That's good Just like everyone's snort and coke like every 15 minutes No, because then it gets really weird and you know, we're saying a lot of things with the possession and just like how the the tonal I could understand why people wouldn't like this and I can understand why people love this and it's a cult classic That's I got a thing all right before we go on to this behind the scenes and what we're gonna be in the museum Let's take a little break and watch the revenge of the ninja trailer because I could not find any TV spots for this anything fun. So let's take a little break The greatest ninja warrior vows to give up killing. I saw it is sealed forever, but a ninja cannot escape its destiny. It will follow it from the gardens of Japan to the streets of America. Get those people out of here. The heroine's bowed out. Damn it! He's caught a drug war between the American mafia and the Japanese Yakuza. Are you trying to tell me there's ninjas running while they're killing people in the 20th century? [Gunshot] [Gunshot] The Black Ninja. A disciple of evil will kill us for pleasure. Only a ninja can stop a ninja. Now, as the police look on helplessly, high above the streets of Los Angeles, he must fight the killer who was once a friend. [Gunshot] Each and Japanese lawfaker explodes in America. It's the ultimate martial arts adventure. No one can survive. The revenge of the ninja. [Gunshot] The revenge of the ninja, a Golan Globus production from the canon group. Is it going to die ball in that one? Well, yeah, we don't know when he lost it. I didn't expect our heroine. That would be like, crazy in a different way. I'm pretty, I do, I bet, "Inner the Ninja," "Revenge of the Ninja." Like, if you watch these in a row, your head's just going to be scrambled. All right, behind the scenes here. This one is personally too bright. I did not write this down. But in the interview with producer/stuntman Alan M. M. O, who this is the blue ray from Screen Factory, he mentioned that he was a poor kid in Israel, and it became a black belt. If you're watching a guy who practiced on the beach and stuff. And then he came to the United States and got another black belt under Chuck Norris. And I was like, damn! That was just some great credentials. (laughs) It's funny though that Chuck Norris is actually good at karate. He's really good. And Steven Seagull is not. I don't even know what Steven Seagull does. He does these hand movements where he, but he's never actually fighting anyone. But Steven Seagull is more karate than Chuck Norris was eventually me growing up because he was just the Texas Ranger. He was a cowboy. Yeah, okay. Yeah, I guess you're a perspective. You're like, oh, he's a Texas Ranger. He's not, you know, he just does kicks because Texas Rangers do kicks. Yeah, I guess. I don't know him as like a karate guy. All right, I kind of get that. And Steven Seagull did all that shit in his movies where he's just like moving his hands really fast. Just grabs a guy by his wrist and flips him and then grabs the next guy flips him. Yeah, the fighting guys I grew up with were Van Dam and Steven Seagull. Oh, man, I can't wait until we, one day we need to do blood sport. I could just see Brad. Talk about that. It's got a boner. I like a blood sport is with the band. Yeah, I know they play the arcade machine and his best friend gets his knees broke. Is that blood sporters at the other one where the underground boxing you got the guy that fights. Oh, the good day. You know, that's yeah, you're Jackson. He's playing their great game. Yeah, I like that one. It's good. Oh, that was just great for the start to finish. More than some of this we heard that, you know, that we'll see that a Dickey had a five picture deal with them. She's going to do break and break into breaking three. This movie, Ninja three, also the Alan quarter main in the law city of gold. Both decided to move on. She also said she was exhausted because they're shooting schedules were insane. I'm like, yeah, it's not a surprise. I mean, a few weeks after this movie, she was on the set of breaking and breaking. When I watch the, because there's two documentaries about the Canon films, there's electric boo-go-boo. And then there's the go go boys and the go go boys, you know, actually have real interviews from, you know, the producers. And actually, the go go boys is really interesting. If you want to know like a thorough history of these guys from Canon, but, you know, they were sitting there saying that they shot that entire movie in like three weeks. Breaking. That's nuts. That's a good, I remember it being good. It is. Yeah. It was like a million dollar budget and it made like 50 something million dollars. Yeah, people really did it was fun. Yeah, in worldwide, it made over a hundred million dollars. In my head, I probably combined breaking into breaking two. So they came out the same year. Yeah, that's what's nuts. I mean, they really fucked up with breaking two. It's kind of like the ugly stepchild of all sequels. It's, it's good luck being as bad as breaking two. That's pretty much it's like they drew a light in the sand. Beat our shitty sequel. You can't. Oh, love it. Okay, we got director Sam Fistenberg, considered the film to be quite a failure for many reasons. The first being the fact that no fan of the first two Ninja films would buy Lucida Dickey as a ninja and a female hero. The second was the mismatch of flash dance, the exorcist and the regular ninja movie that didn't gel at all. Lastly, the whole ninja concept would have to be refashioned and eventually they came up with American Ninja 1985 a year later, which was also directed by Fistenberg and starring Michael Dutacoff. That makes sense. I thought American Ninja was connected to these. Yeah, Michael Dutacoff's kind of poor man's Rick Rossovich. They really. I think the same guy actually. Is that slider? No, I think goam had goam had like big, like just huge eyes for Dutacoff is just like you're going to be the next big star. Everyone's going to be talking about you. You're going to be Spider-Man. Which if people don't know, I believe Michael Dutacoff was supposed to be Peter Parker. Oh, I'm glad that happened. What could have been? What do you mean I would have loved to see the Spider-Man cannon film? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I guess put it in that way. How many years of Spider-Man in development for different companies before it finally. They had it out and then they had to pull it and re-shoot some shots after 9/11. Yeah, yeah, Sony gets scared about that. Well, wasn't the whole like teaser trailer. He was on the towers, right? That's what his web was between. Yeah, like a spider. It's also a man. All right. And then. Oh, these are yours. Yeah. So there was a spinning head shot that they had to cut out to avoid an X rating just like the exorcist. They really did take everything from the exorcist too. Wow, he said it in the interview. And that fucking around. They're like when they steal they steal big. All right, you got some more here. Oh, yeah, the same person where he came up with the V8 juice. Love seeing idea. I think we talked about that earlier, but that scene where Billy played the where he was doing the crash on the sports car. The producers wanted to stay in the car and do a total flip and roll. Stay in the car. And he's like, no, I'm not going to do that because I'll be dead. That's fair. That makes a lot of sense. They wanted an actor to do like a car stunt. Well, that's just stupid. You're just in the invasion USA where there's like fuck it blow up the whole subdivision. It's like, yeah, we tested anything. You know, do we understand how big these explosions are going to be? And it's like, no, but we'll probably be okay. Oh, that's nuts. I did come up with an entire list of every Ninja film that that I could find that the Canon group did. We have entered the Ninja from 1981, Revenge of the Ninja 1983 Ninja 3, the domination 1984 American Ninja 1985 American Ninja 2 the confrontation 1987 American Ninja 3 blood hunt from 89 didn't we do that one? No, we've never well. No, yes, we did. The more sci-fi weird cloney one, they're trying to make an army on an island. Sounds like blood hunt to me, but. Well, then we had American Ninja 4, the annihilation from 1981 and then American Ninja 5 where they didn't put a subtitle for some reason from from 1993. Shit, you're right. Did we actually, we did. I remember watching an American Ninja for this. I wonder how that happened. I don't know what to look that up. I wasn't looking at that. You're I mean, no, I didn't remember doing that. Is American Ninja? I have it on tape. I probably only have like one, so I should just look see which one it is. This is what happens when you have almost 300 episodes. You just forget movies. Yeah, there's like a Blake spot. I do remember watching a Michael Dutacoff movie for this show. Yeah, yeah. Anyhow, like. There's a lot of episodes. We're not smart. - I mean, I have one series for you. - I have one series for you. - Yeah. (laughing) I can't remember an actor's name to save my life. - Anyway, let's go in the museum. (dramatic music) - This was the second time I've had to reclaim my property from you. - That belongs in a museum. - So do you. - This is the part of the show where we got in the film jungle that puts something in our museum? Well, this is our ninja wing of the museum. That wouldn't make sense. - I guess we can't see it. - Very hidden and secretive. - Well, it's on a hill in a temple. - Oh. - Okay, here you go. - But you can't see the temple. - That's fair. - You just have to trust that you're entering the temple. - Yeah, you just got to throw sand in front of it and hope you find it. - It was built by John Cena. Just can't see it. - All right, I guess I'll go first. I picked this. - It was three bloodhunt. - Okay, it was three bloodhunt. Didn't his partner die in that? - Yeah, thanks a lot, yeah. - Yeah. - But it's the one involving clones on a private iron. - Okay. I wanna put the white, when he's, well, I guess he's gray. But I thought, see, the thing is, for some reason in my mind, she shows up to that funeral with white arrows, a white bow, and like everything's white. And I just see her in a white suit. So I'm gonna go with the total white ninja, killing everyone at the funeral, but the name on the credits is black ninja. (laughing) - That's a good one. - That is what's going, I mean, that's just, there's so much to put in this, but I just really laughed at that. - He's never wearing black. And every image I can find of her, she's also wearing gray. But it's like a light gray. - So yeah, I don't know where black ninja came from. Maybe the guy wearing black should have been called the black ninja, but if they're going off the last film, and we just watched the trailer for it, if that's the black ninja, the one with the metal face, that would make sense that he's called the black ninja. - Okay, I don't, yeah, I don't know, we should have watched it. - Hands are up in there, man, I have no idea. - Hey, me, I like where your brain's going. You're trying to really figure this out. And now my brain is like, maybe he's right, I don't know. Anyway, I almost wanted to go with her slowly, like turning gray, you know, where she kept getting worse and worse. But I didn't go with that. Anyway, Brad, dear next. - I just got to go with Canon film excesses here. We got ridiculous stunts overacting, unconvincing love scenes, gratuitous ninja violence, and just completely earnest in its absurdity. - That's a good one, that's a fair one. I'm gonna go with the car scene where the eye patch ninja kills everybody. I thought it was pretty funny, actually. Looks back, they're sleeping, I don't know. (laughing) - Well, it was pretty good. - Yeah, he was very charismatic. - I know, he's good, he knows what he's doing. - Yeah, I like the scenes he was in. - Yeah, I was just thinking, man, I kind of wanted to go with the arcade possession scene and then I'm like, oh no, I wanted to go with the spa. You know, we're there in the hot tub scene. I think there's so many scenes. - The arcade possession is really cool, like the lights and everything. - That is super cool. - They did a really good job. There's a lot of things in this where you can just look at and you're like, wow, there's a lot of talent in these Canon films. But then it's just surrounded by so much bullshit. - It's just a bunch of people hanging out, drinking, doing drugs, coming up with ideas. They do them well, they just don't make sense. It's the scripts, it's the Canon scripts that are the problem. Like when they got a good script, like runaway train, they made a good movie. - Yeah, like I don't care that the sort is made out of wood and the blood looks like finger paint. (laughing) That doesn't bother me. It's the fact that you're like, what happened? What is happening? And it's not enough fun, weird way sometimes either. It's in a literal, like what is going on? - Yeah, watching this movie makes it, it's like working in a startup. - We gotta redo some of this. - What are we doing today? I don't know. (laughing) - Clocking on, I haven't read anything today. - Are we gonna get paid this week? - That's what you're getting ready for the podcast sometimes. I haven't, I haven't sleep and I haven't read anything. - Okay. - All right, perfect way to end this. That was a really fun film. And Brad, you can announce what you're picking for the next time. - All right, this is one I felt bad a little bit. I thought I might be stealing this from you, but we're gonna do they live. - Well, that was a good one. And there's no stealing between friends. - Yeah, especially when we both get to watch it. - We never did recommend a, assuming Steven likes it and Brad likes it. - Yeah, I think it's two out of three here. - Yeah, it's three out of three. If you wanna watch it, watch it. - I was gonna say if you don't watch this film, you can stop listening to this podcast forever. - All 13 of you, get outta here. It's actually five X-Cops that survived a Ninja Tech. They listened to this. - They don't wanna be traumatized again. - Yeah. And another person who's favorite movie of all time is this movie. - Yeah, one of them. - We stumbled. - All the friends who were gone. We've ended them months ago. - I'm gonna leave on a no go watch 28 weeks. Our years later, go watch 28 years later if you hear this in time. - Yeah, I hope it's good. I heard it's got a huge dong in it. - None of the dogs are real 'cause the child labor laws, they can have new duty on set. - Oh. - How do you already know that? I guess you looked it up. - No, I was stoked. I've been reading everything about this movie. I wanted to go opening day. The 28 weeks later is one of my favorite movies. - 28 weeks or 28 days. - 28 days, 28 days. - I get confused. I was explaining everything to Lily and I kept saying months in there at one time and she's like, I didn't think they made a month. And I was like, they didn't. I'm just not smart. - I think somebody else made a knockoff called like 28 months in the future or something to the same-- - Maybe I'll probably-- - The same plot line. - I've got a non recommendation. Don't watch Mountain Head 'cause it has got Steve Karel in it. It is about a bunch of tech geniuses going up to a mountain to have a geyser treat. They are inseparable. It is not funny. I think they think they're a lot smarter with their content than what they are. You get it right away. - The romantic comedy that Steve Karel just released, like Six Part series, that was really good. I like that. It's out and also. - Nothing could, I could not stand Mountain Head. It took me two times to finish it. And then I followed it up eventually with friends from A24 with Paul Rudd and what was his name, Richards. - The crazy guy. - Michael Richards. - Robinson? - Yes, there you go. Sorry, Tim Robinson. - Yeah, I wish he was related to me. That movie will stick with you. I don't know if I like it, but I'll never forget it. - We have watched everything, Tim Robinson has made. We loved that guy. - Holy shit, friends is not what I expected. Okay, I expected something crazy with him and I got it. But, ooh. - This is Tim Robinson from "Certainight Live", right? - Well, it was. He was. Okay, I saw him at "Second City Live". - Oh my God. - His whole laborious. I think watching friends drinking with friends would be amazing 'cause then you could all laugh at how fucking absurd this is. - Okay, well I got my best friend in the living room, so. - Absurd and oh God. Oh, he's doing that. Do you hear that Brad? (laughing) My wife is my best friend. - You can drop that charade here in about a month or two. - No, I'll keep it for awhile. - Paul, maybe when you get to five years. - No, I watched on HBO, there's Peewee, like the Peewee documentary. - Oh, how is that? - How did they recommend it? - Yeah. - I think that's first time we've done like recommendations afterwards or anything. - Oh, and my daughter's birthday party, she is into the Care Bear movie from the '80s. - Hell yeah. - That movie is scary. - That's messed up. I wish the Care Bears they would have killed all the original Care Bears so they could sell more toys. (laughing) - Just like trans partners. - They're great. - Ah, anyway, that will end it this week. Come back next time when we're doing, they live a rowdy, rowdy, piper classic and fucking great movie. - Oh no. - And remember to be kind. - In a rewind. (upbeat music) You're listening to the Geekscape Network.
