NFL Week 6 Biggest Storylines: Breakout Stars, Injuries & Trade Advice (Ep. 2266)

The podcast dives into key NFL storylines ahead of Week 6, focusing on player returns, injuries, and fantasy trading strategies. AJ Brown’s return to the Patriots is a major highlight, with optimism that he will bolster an already strong offense, though his full readiness remains in doubt. The Patriots' depth and resilience without him are evident, with young receivers stepping into larger roles. On the Falcons, Michael Pennix’s return despite a rib injury is seen as critical due to the team’s offensive reliance on him, while the Bears’ weakened defense offers a promising matchup. Multiple injuries across the league — including Rashi Rice, Will Campbell, and Jaden Daniels — raise concerns about team stability and depth. Fantasy analysts recommend trading for value players like Devonte Smith and avoiding high-risk picks such as Mike Evans or Woody Marks due to injury history. The Patriots are projected to rebound in the second half, fueled by a strong schedule and improved performance, while criticism highlights how injury-prone teams and coaching decisions often limit offensive potential. The episode underscores the volatility of the NFL season, where health, strategy, and player development shape outcomes. Despite the chaos, fans are encouraged to stay sharp, with the podcast offering daily insights and commentary through its "Tailgate" format.

I will be your host, Andrew Erickson. Join by my buddy, and he also shares a name with my favorite pasta, Alfredo Brown. What's going on, man? - I thought you were going to say your favorite other fantasy analyst, Derek Brown, and then you totally swirled and went right to pasta, which by the way, common mistake, Alfredo's not a pasta. - Oh man. - It's a sauce. - It's a sauce. - Okay, so you've learned so many new things today. - Yes, tons of things to be learned today. We're talking about NFL previewing some of the biggest storylines heading into NFL week six. Dude, I can't believe it's already week six. Like we're already hitting the halfway point in October, it's going to be Halloween. It's going to be Thanksgiving before we know it, dude. How are you feeling going now six weeks strong? In most of my fantasy leagues, I'm feeling good. And other ones not so much. And honestly, the thing is, it's tough. Going to the season as a dolphins fan, like I was just kind of ready for this. And now it's sort of like, it's like running a marathon. Like I knew what I was getting into. I knew it was going to suck. And I just have to get my body through it. And I have to just mentally get through it. And that's what I'm doing right now. We're not even halfway there. - But the dolphins at least are committed. They know what they're trying to do. They're trying to lose games. They're trying to get a high draft pick, draft a quarterback of the future behind some, look, I think there's some young talent on the dolphins. They have one of the youngest offensive lines in the NFL. So Jacob Rodriguez looked like an absolute stud at mid-align macro that's going to be racking up 20 plus tagls every single game from here out for the next 15 years. It seems like, and I mean, do the stash, man. Like I'm going to be Jacob Rodriguez for Halloween. - If I could grow plus stash. - That's, you can't do that. You can't do that as a Patriots fan. Even if you can grow too much stash as you should do that. That's a horrible idea. - All right, well, we're bearing the lead here because the biggest storyline in news, it's probably actually not, but I put the show sheet together so I get to pick what we talk about first. AJ Brown, wide receiver for the New England Patriots. He's back. He is back and ready to go. Maybe not fully ready, Mike Ravel said on Wednesday. Patriots are designated AJ Brown after his ankle injury to return from injury reserve. No guarantee that he's going to play necessarily in week six, but there's a chance. Ravel talked about that earlier in the week. The hey, there's a chance that he could play, but his return seems like it's going to be soon around the later. So the king is back. AJ Brown, and I mean, the fact that he's coming back to an offense that's been humming over the last couple games. I mean, this is a boost that the Patriots' offense may not even need right now, but they're getting it anyway. So I'm obviously giddy about this. We saw AJ Brown at a limited stint in that first game against the Seahawks. Obviously, we know how the rest of it played out, banged up his ankle. But I mean, Alfredo, where your kind of thoughts on AJ Brown? Do you think he ends up playing in this game? Or do they think they weighed him one more week? Because the Patriots are playing on a short week on Thursday going to Chicago to take on Caleb Williams in the Bears? Yeah, that's the thing is I don't think you wanted to come back to early and tweak anything. Now that everything is back on track, and the Patriots' offense is doing it without AJ Brown. The receivers are all stepping up. And when I say all of them, Demario, Douglas had himself a good game. After Chisholm had a good game, we finally got Kyle Williams making big plays out there. That's actually, by one thing, is AJ Brown coming back. I hope it doesn't stunt Kyle Williams. I would love to see all of these young, exciting players continue to have bigger roles going forward. I know that there's a Mac Holland's hive somewhere. That's just really into grounding and eating food with their hands and just a whole bunch of fun stuff. But let's just get some of these exciting and playmakers a little more involved. And I think they can do that for one more week and then let yourself come back against the big game and get Chicago and let AJ Brown be fully ready to go. How high is too high to rank AJ Brown in his first game back against that Bears defense? I mean, I mean, are you going top 12 right out of the gate? I mean, with buys and stuff like that, it's reasonable, right? It's always the thing with the buys whenever you look at rankings. He's like, oh, I'm going to rank this guy and then you realize there are six teams on buy. You're like, well, top 20 is locked and loaded. And with like how many players that are already injured and how little there is like the second, especially the Wayne Drake Bay is playing. He's quarterback one over the last couple of weeks. And like the way he keeps playing, yeah, like it's hard to not be like, oh, that guy's going to get a mess of targets as soon as he comes back in a potential shoot out. That sounds great. Yeah. So Patriots offense should keep humming here along when they have the New York Jets. Get not afraid of that secondary. That's probably the weakest part of their defense. Their defense of front is actually pretty well in some spots. We had a David Bailey breakout game. And I am kicking myself for dropping him in an IDP league a couple of weeks back. So I'm like, oh man, this guy's never going to do anything. Of course he just has like monster performance. Three sacks. I believe the Jets told eight sacks last week as we saw the Sean Watson return to his bad form and just become a sack, taking machine. So I do think they have some bodies up front that can maybe throw some issues at the Patriots offensive line that has been dealing with a lot of injuries. Again, flying under the radar. Will Campbell is going to miss game. So even though they're going to get AJ Brown back, Will Campbell looks like he's going to miss a couple games here after getting hurt against the Raiders last point. Ramondra Stevens is probably going to be the bell cow for the Patriots with Henderson out for the next couple of weeks. I do think that AJ Brown will actually help the ground game a little bit more just because of the presence that he offers on the field that defense has to account for especially when it comes to the safeties and where they're going and be deployed. You can't just crowd the box as much. Any other thoughts with Stevenson? Will Campbell those types of plays? - I mean, it's kind of like you take one step forward, two steps back here who's excited for what could happen here with Ramondra and he's got a really easy schedule coming up and then you lose Will Campbell for a little bit here and that, I mean, that sucks. Obviously you don't want to even the Patriots offensive line is already so decimated, like they just keep, it feels like they keep losing a guy every couple weeks here. But the offense is humming. Like you said, man, in Ramondra, Stevenson, well, he may not be like one of the elite tier backs. If you got a guy who's getting anywhere from 15 to 20 touches a game, that's a super valuable running back at this point whether we're talking fantasy or anything. And Ramondra is showing that he's good enough to handle the love too. So Corey Keiner also apparently had a little bit of fumbling issue last week. So like all of a sudden, we're like, okay, Ramondra, Stevenson, 26 touches. It's right there for us. - Yeah, Ramondra had clearly infiltrated the Seahawks locker room when the Patriots went to Seattle and week one and gave the Eck to Emanuel Wilson, Andrew Orchellani. And now they're showing the symptoms because they keep putting the ball on the turf. So we shall see who holds onto the ball this week when it comes to the fumbles. Let's go to a different quarterback. We'll see you guys in the next episode. The fumbles, let's go to a different quarterback scenario. Michael Pennix is expected to start in week six after suffering a rib injury at the end of that thrilling Sunday night game against the Baltimore Ravens or the Falcons fell just short. Alfredo, as I was watching this game going into overtime and when I saw the two was coming in, I immediately turned to my wife and said, he's gonna throw an interception. (laughing) - And this game is gonna be over. It wasn't on the first play. It was on the second play that he threw a pick and ended seal the Falcons fate there with them falling just short of the Baltimore Ravens. Savanski said that he's gonna practice on Wednesday. He's gonna be limited throughout the week. Obviously dealing with a pain tolerance. I know that you were a little bit, it's a gun shy on Drake London rest of season because of Michael Pennix. And he's dealt with a ton of injuries in the past. Now this is different from an ACL or knee injury, but it's a rib injury. Guys, take hits, if they don't keep him upright, is this a potential issue that do you think he, do you think the team is gonna have to turn it to a, again, at some point, soon around a later, is it smart for them to throw him back out there? What's your read with the Falcons right now with Pennix? Is this the right thing to do throwing him back out there? Because we know how bad this team is without him and is that kind of making them feel pressed to kind of get it back out? It's gonna be like, we can't not have him there. - I don't think they have any other choice. If they need to know if Michael Pennix is an NFL quarterback, Kevin's the fanski needs to try to keep his job because if they run too out there and just start losing games, like all bets are off, everything in Atlanta could just simply blow up if Michael Pennix is not playing game. And with rib injuries too, like, if you have enough padding, you have enough protection at that point, like, yeah, you could re-enters out for make it worse, but also, you can heal up. Like, it is, it does become sort of a matter of pain tolerance there. So, I think they have to. Whether it's the smart decision, what's the alternative start to it? Like, did you not see the video of Jacobi Lane watching the Ravens Falcons game? It was like, he was like live streaming or he was taking a video of himself. He was cheering as Tua was coming in. He was like, oh Kyle Hamilton. Watch this Kyle Hamilton's gonna pick him off. And then the first throw Kyle Hamilton picks him off. And he's like, he called it. He was incredible, dude. - Everybody watched that game knew that Tua was not gonna get this team back into action. - Yeah, it just goes to show, though. - What kind of state the Falcons offense? is so dependent on Michael Penex being healthy. Now you get the obviously positive match up here. Like what is the cure for all rib injuries that's facing the Chicago Bears defense? That Seth told me about, Monteswet is apparently suspended too. Like he wasn't even playing that well, but another pastor, so they had three more injuries last week in there, all three stages of their defensive line secondary and one of their linebackers, I believe, teacher Edwards also got hurt last week. So, I mean, Michael Penex, it's very possible that he could play the entire game and not take a single hit because that's how little teams should be concerned about with this Bears' pass rush. So it may all be just blown out of proportion with this rib thing, but if Penex is good to go, man, like he should dice up this Bears defense that showed last week that yeah, the first, those other three games were probably just because they played bad offenses and not because they were actually turning the corner and the Bears are who or they thought. The Bears are who we thought they were, essentially. - Ah, I could call back. I love it. Love it, Denny Green. Yeah, man, if listen, if the Falcons can survive, the Bears is upcoming week. The schedule gets rough, man. San Francisco 49ers the following week and that could be, if there's a team that's gonna get pressure on the quarterback, the Niners, they may not be great stop in the run, but they can get pressure on the quarterback, man. And like that's just terrifying the thought of these guys getting to Michael Penex. I just, if I'm a Falcons fan, like I'm watching every game with baited breath here, like I am just, I'm. - Before we get to our next storyline, I wanna talk to you about Wallsmack, the NFL PA. We do have a super chat. So let's hit that from two wheels and a mic. PPR, traded, I say I like you for Hubbard, have tray McBride. Thanks. - That's sick. - Yes. - That's a great trade. - Yes. - Anytime that I can get rid of a surplus at a position that I want to require is one, I feel great about that. And to get a running back right now, dude. Like there's not a lot of running backs that are actually healthy and good. It's for you to have one that is both on an offense that looks like it's moving. That's a, that's a hell of a win for two wheels and a mic. I guess I'm actually curious about rest of season. Do you think that there's a chance, I mean, who has more face points to see your likely or McBride? I mean, 'cause if the car does turn to Carson Beck, which I could actually include as one of our storylines here, 'cause I know that that's kind of been in the rumblings of, okay, like we've seen enough from Jacobi, like we're ready to kind of turn it over because we want to lose more games, because they probably don't have the franchise core back on this team anyway. - What do you mean they've seen enough of him? Did they not know that Jacobi percent was not the franchise? - I mean, they were selling us a bunch of other stuff. They're like, yeah, he can be our quarterback, blah, blah, blah. He's gonna fuel the offense. I mean, wouldn't surprise me. Flickly outscores McBride, rest of season potential. But either way, like you have a surplus both elite tight ends, this is the smart move to make, especially getting at someone like Chuba who is just due to so locked and loaded into this offense that the Panthers are wagon, are we there? I mean, 'cause I mean, they've been wagon so far. - Bright Shawn, QV3 kind of. - Kind of, man, so they have had some easy opponents. I will say that like some of their opponents have been easy and so there's a little bit of stat padding going on there. But like sometimes that's all in all kinds of needs. It's just like get a little confidence under your belt and show that you can go out there, throw for 300 plus yards. You can throw for three touchdowns in a game. You can run all over teams. And like we're a season or move from Chuba being an absolute stud at the running back room there. And then last year, Rico doubted all taking over. So it's not like this is new for this offense. They've had guys that can produce. And so the Panthers keep it up, man. I think it's a great trade in talking about like the tight ends likely and McBride. I think both offenses have their concerns, right? And I think the quarterback concerns are there for both of these guys. Like do we think James lasts the whole season and keeps throwing three touchdowns every game? - Last week was the first time Winston attempted 54 passes in a game and didn't throw an interception. - Yeah, like it's, it's great. Like I picked up Winston and I'm ready to start him this week against the Saints. I don't feel awesome about it. But like there's no guarantees that he starts the whole year either like we could be getting into fantasy playoff time and it's JJ McCarthy, you know, throw in meatballs subs to Malik neighbors. - Yeah. What did you think about the JJ McCarthy packages? We got a little glimpses up in that giant's game. Cause he was taking a couple of snaps with some like, like RPO handoff things and I'm like, is McCartney like becoming like, if they try to use it like, take some help. - I was like, it was weird. I'm like, I guess I want, they want to get in the office but I don't look at McCarthy's like, dude, he's a weapon. - I think what it is is like they had a bunch of those Jackson dark plays drawn up. - Oh, man, we can't use that part of the playbook anymore. Dang it. It's like, it's like, they've probably tried it once with James in practice and they're like, oh, no, no, don't do that. They were immediately like, we should go trade for a quarterback that can kind of run but not really run, but also not really pass either. You know, if you put the helmet on the right way, is that Jackson dark out there? - It's good. He's like, looks like Jackson dark. So yeah, I thought that was kind of weird. Just like rewatching and giving me like, what? I was like, I had to do a double take. I'm like, wait, what's James Winston's number again? And I'm like, who is that taking snaps? And again, like neither play really resulted in anything. Look at him, McCarthy's took a bunch of big hits again. Yeah, let's get this injury prone quarterback hit more because he's taking direct handoffs and just like doing design run plays. But that's besides the point, Giants, I believe are in first place in the NFC East. - So weird. - So that's so weird. - Yeah, Giants team, it's like not great if we're being for real and like, doesn't have their starting quarterback. - I do. - And their first place. - I think it's a bad division. - I do like how they have changed their defense since they lost Burns. They've now become like Brian Flores East where they're like, we're just gonna blitz the crap out of it. - I'm just like, we don't care. - It's been so great for our Vell Reese, man. - Yeah. - It's actually been great for him. Like, he looks awesome. - Well, it's like dude, like he was a player coming out that's like, yeah, this guy can really rush the passer. It's like sick. But we want to play off while lawnmaker. Okay, well, it's having blood stuck. So we can do both. Not the perfect example of how coaches get in their own way. They just overthink things instead of just letting good players do what they are good at. Like, this happens all the time. Like, and see Kyle Williams go out and be like, oh, that guy's allowed to run deep and we can just throw it to him. Well, on one against the corner. Like, it doesn't make sense. - We'll have to do an off-season show about this like one point. But it's crazy to us as observers when injuries force coaches to make like the right decisions. Where it's like, dude, I guess we got to make Jalen Warren a bell cow. I guess we got to do it because Rico is hurt. And then like, it just, I don't know. It's crazy to me that it's like, they just didn't figure this out in the first place when you have all this information to work with. When we know how talented some of these guys are. But it's like, now like we got to keep training wheels on. I can't like, we can't unleash Jalen to all of this. There's an injury and then we have to play our best players. Like, oh no. It's like, God, super frustrating. Super frustrating, bro. Way to go, NFL coaches. - On big lives, we take a single cultural icon. - People like Jane Fonda, George Michael, Richard Pryor. - And we pull apart the story behind the image. - And we do this by digging through the BBC's Fast Archive. We're talking iconic moments in broadcast history. - I'm not just a boxer. I'm educating. I can talk all week on millions of subjects. - And forgotten interviews that change how we see these giants of our culture. - Well, if changing the system from the ground up is revolutionary, then I'm revolutionary. - We're here for the messy, the brilliant, the human version of our heroes. - And when I go on stage, I like to dress as slutty as possible 'cause it makes me dance better for some reason. - I'm Emmanuel Jochi. - I'm Kai Wright. - And this is Big Lives. - Listen to Big Lives on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get podcasts. - Hey, everybody. I'm Chuck Bryan at The Stuff You Should Know Podcast. - And I'm Adam Pranaka of The Greatest Generation and Greatest Trek. - We decided to start a golf comedy podcast because we're both big golf lovers and we wanted to spread that joy and it's called Three Put Bogey. - It's coming from the perspective of golfers who are sometimes good enough to hit two great chats in a row but almost never good enough to hit three. And a Three Put Bogey is kind of the purest expression of that. Every golfer knows what that's like. Obviously, we're gonna talk a lot about the game of golf, how absurd it is and how fun it is and how vexing and frustrating. But more than anything, just how much we love the greatest game in the world. - We love it anyway. - We're putting these out every Friday morning for your weekend golf routine. - This is a show about sharing our experiences on the golf course and how absurd and funny they can be. And that's what Three Put Bogey is. - It's Three Put Bogey everybody out every Friday. You can listen to it now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast. in my career on the executive side of this industry, multi-platinum songs, building artists and building business. And alongside my brother, Tank, the superstar R&B singer, songwriter, and producer, we've created something special, the R&B Money Podcasts. This is not just a podcast. It's a safe space where artists, executives, and fans of R&B music come to reminisce. Pull back the curtain and tell the stories that shaped this culture, the real history behind the hits. - That was hood famous. - Yeah. - And then real love came out and it blew up. - We lived in a project. - Yeah, and they're seeing all the success. - They hear them music, and we had nothing. - We're covering the entire spectrum. From Smokey Robinson, Alicia Keys, B2K, Mary J. Blige, Legends, Current Stars, and everyone who's contributed to the sound of R&B. - You come out the gate with a hit. - And it knocked Michael Jackson out of number one. - Come on, man. - I was like, "Hold on, I'm not gonna M.J." Out of the number one spot. - If you're a super dedicated R&B fan who wants the real discovery, the real stories, this is your podcast. This is the R&B Money Podcast. Listen to R&B money from the Black Effect podcast network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. - All right, speaking of super frustrating, Rashi Rice, coming off the buy week, not practicing. Never a good sign for a player that has always been hurt, has a hamstring injury, and had a week to rehab and get healthier. Now, I don't think he was rehabbing in jail in prison this time. He was at the facility, trying to get the treatment, but I am very, very suspect of him playing this week next week, potentially, because it's one thing not practiced on a Wednesday as a veteran. It's usually a rest day, but after a buy week, this is a pretty, pretty big red flag. That's right, oh. - Yeah, 100%. Like normally, whenever you're here, okay, good. This player's hurt. At least we have the buy week coming up. He'll rest up and be good to go. Like you said, he's dealt with these same injuries over and over and over. He's, I hate to use the word that he's prone to it, but you often see him get more soft tissue injuries, and it's actually less about like the person's body and more about how they treat their body. Like if he doesn't take stretching serious and mobility serious than all things that he does, if he doesn't take those things serious, then yeah, like he's gonna be more prone to having hamstring injuries. That's what we've seen. So the rumors keep heating up, man, that the chiefs might be looking at Tyree Kill after everything that went down with his court case. And I know a bunch of the other charges ended up being dropped, and one of them wasn't. And he still could face suspension from the league, but then his agent who rose in house came out today and said like, we're still in contact with the team. So watch out. So it's like, I don't think these two things are gonna overlap where Rice is missing time and Hill comes in, but I just don't feel great about the chiefs receiving room. And maybe this could have been a Taikwan Thornton thing, but it's not now, obviously with him, it is foot on the wrong way. It's just, it's wheels up, Ken Walker still and Travis Kelsey. - Yeah, Travis Kelsey off the by-week. This is one of the times he'll be extremely fresh as a 37 year old tight end. And I think it'll be ready to rock against the chargers who are remain winless, one of the few winless teams left in the NFL joining. It's the dolphins and tight ends, right? - That's right. - We're doing it right. Losing games and trying hard. - Oh man, speaking of doing it right, I gotta tell you guys about this new prediction market called Paulie Market. It's a stock exchange for sports, buying and selling out on your terms. When your team goes down 20%, you can buy and sell it off at 40% and when they come back to double your money. That's code FPPOD to get $25 free after you deposit just $10. All right, sticking with the headlines, Caleb Williams. Estimated practice today. The Bears had a walk through on Wednesday. I love how they do this, right? It's like, well, if we did practice, he would be a practice in full, but we did a walk through so it doesn't really count. Regardless, it seems like things are trending in the correct direction for Caleb Williams to play against the Atlanta Falcons again going up against Michael Pennick. So we talked about a little bit earlier. We've seen one full game of Caleb Williams. It was a lot of damage with his legs. They put up 59 points on the Carolina Panthers defense. We saw him limited against the Minnesota Vikings, but that's a game where it was rainy conditions. He got injured in and you can't really have any declarative takeaways when you play the Vikings defense because of how blitz heavy Brian Flores is compared to every other defense. So really one game that we've seen from Caleb Williams in the third year, second year with Ben Johnson. What are your expectations for him? Again, kind of an interesting matchup against the Falcons. They've been really good against the run. Secondary definitely not their strength, especially because they're down a lot of cornerbacks as well. So really interesting matchup though, 'cause two quarterbacks dealing with some injuries, coming off of injuries between him and Pennicks. What are you looking forward to watching with this one? I actually kind of like that Caleb is coming off of an injury because it means he's probably a little less likely to run so frantically like he does. Like he's oftentimes just sort of bigger Kyler, the way he runs around and just, he creates after the play is over. If that makes sense, like they go into the huddle, they call the play. These are his reads and then he looks at them and goes, "Dad, I like it." And he just runs around. He's sort of like, "You ever see the movie Semipro?" With Will Ferrell. Where they're like, they're supposed to run the play and they throw the, they pass the ball to Will Ferrell and he's like, "I don't like it, back to you." And they just keep passing it back and forth. And like that's Caleb believes. He's like, "I, Luther Burton, I don't like it." And then it back to me. He goes, "I don't like it." And he just keeps running. And so I kind of like that he's not going to be able to do that as much coming off the hamstring injury. What I'd love to see him change though, is that the mustache. I need to, I need to grow the beard back. I don't, I don't like the butt chin with the mustache. It's not, it's not a cute look for him. Yeah, I mean, was he trying to do the Dittka thing? I thought for a little bit, like, like, you know, obviously RIP might Dittka. Like, I thought that's what I was doing. I don't know, if that's the case then I'll load. I remember he dressed up as a Dittka for Halloween last year wearing like the sweater. I mean, that get up is just so classic. I feel like he and Jalen Hertz go to the same barber. Like they just kind of do like the, how can I look as goofy as possible? And I mean, again, we're doing these connections. The bears recently did play the Eagles not that long ago. So it's possible. So it's possible. Caleb was like, Hey man, like, who does your hair? Give me his number. He'll line me up. Oh man, let's get to some questions here before we get to our last storyline. Sal, if you just want to throw a bunch of them up that you have starred in the queue, we can just kind of rip through them. Kyle B6752, good evening, Jens, good evening. Would you trade scataboo and DAC for Devonte Smith? So mine, Smith, a bit on the low here. I like this deal in terms of just trying to get a receiver that you can buy on the cheap. If you feel good about your running backs, Bob, what do you think, Alfredo? Yeah, I mean, I'm not typically an advocate of trading for a quarterback, but when I can trade one away as a throw in, I kind of like that. I don't have a lot of confidence in scataboo going forward. And even though the confidence right now is semi low comparatively with Demonte Smith, it's like where it was still a top-tier player. He's gonna get a lot of the targets in this. And the schedule gets significantly easier for the Eagles in terms of both quarterback and receiver strength of schedule for fantasy. So we're gonna see the passing attack probably get better, especially if we're looking at injuries across the running back room. They're saying, well, Barkley might be back this week, but he didn't practice today. So the Eagles might just be forced to keep passing the ball and getting the ball out quick, especially with this offensive line. So Devonte Smith getting easy targets, Simonio. - Yeah, the Eagles kind of feel like they've hit rock bottom. And I think it's just where they can really only go up at this point. Like, who else can they lose? Right, like they've already lost all the pieces, the offensive lines and shambles, like and eventually Barkley will come back to a full blown workload 'cause there's no other running back on the roster that is healthy, you know, Demonte Smith, right? Like none of these guys have really stepped up and had high end target shares have been super productive. So Smith will be back in that wide receiver one role in Scatibum, right? Maybe it doesn't look nearly as explosive or like the same guy he was before his injury last year, which was always a red flag or a caution flag with him, just 'cause coming off these brutal injuries, some of these running backs with some of that explosiveness. So it's good next question here, Sal, PPR WannaWiders, you were two to pair with JSN, trade Mike Evans/WoodieMarks4. Ooh, this is, I think Evans is your wide receiver too, man. Like I think you've got a guy who, when I was charting Brock Purdy, I'm just like, he is constantly looking Mike Evans way and now you've got another injury to the wide receiver room there were Deimos Angles missing time. They're going to Brandon Cooks, who like they just signed a couple weeks ago and asking him to jump into a big role. Like Mike Evans is their guy. Unless you're worried he's gonna get injured or something like that, Mike Evans is I think a top 15 fantasy wide receiver at the moment. - Yeah, and he's playing the commanders this week. So I do think Mike Evans is a potential sell high candidate, which is based on his age, injury history, based on the 49ers that always get hurt. But that being said, if you are okay with taking on that risk, he's a top six play for me this week 'cause he's facing the commanders. Dude, Mike Sanders still, dude, that guy cannot cover anybody. He is a turns down. (laughs) And it's wild too, because like we will see that week after week after week, and I don't feel coaches see it. We get a week after week. and then he'd keep targeting him. And then the commander's just like, you know who we should start at quarter this week? That same guy, let's just do it again. - Yeah, he can't stop anybody. I would say in terms of Woody Marks, as a player you could potentially flip and now it projected Belkow, really bad matchup this week. I think a player that you could go for is. - With a burden? - Some of these barriers. - I'm actually. - I'm actually. - I'm good trading away Woody Marks, man, yeah. - Because you got a bad matchup this week, you got a buy coming up as well. And then you're probably getting Dave Montgomery back and we go back to even if Woody Marks is the one A now in that situation where we're still going back to a split back field. So I'd love to buy low on this a burden. You actually listed the two guys. This a burden was my buy low of my article and Woody Marks was my sell high. - Yeah, I know, my article so I love that. - Yeah, we talked about it as well. When Trade Show, myself and Warren on the Fanny Sprose feed, he had Woody Marks to sell high and I had let the burden as my buy low again. We'll see potentially a different bear's passing game with Caleb Williams back in the fall. And I think that there's an opportunity to buy before we actually see it. With the burden has been the target leader through five games with the three different quarterbacks that have played for Chicago. So like how he's been deployed by Ben Johnson. Let's keep going with questions, Sal. Killer Lee, 7.6.9, or 7.9.6.4. Newbie here on a male dominated 10 team PPR league. I have Chuck Price, John Marks, Croskey Merritt, et cetera, Rest of the roster is there. Any ed vice for this person. So we just talked about Woody Marks as a sell. Maybe he's a player that you could potentially flip. I like that as an angle here. - I also have Croskey Merritt as a sell high right now because even though he got the touchdown in the long run, it was still, I believe, a 35% snap share one of his lowest of the season. And it's just the commanders are showing. They're like, okay, let's cut the rookie we draft. Let's go sign Austin at glitter. Like we just don't have any confidence in their running back room right now. And Rashad White's getting all the gold line touches, all the two minute drill touches, all of the third down, like it snaps everything. So yeah, I'm trading away, Marks, I'm trading away Croskey Merritt. I want to rebuild that running back room a little bit. You got Javonte there who's good. I'd probably try to move some combination of those running backs and maybe Addison or Ibuka. I think maybe even cash in right now in a manual Wilson who you could start. But there's an expiration date there. So I think a lot of your running backs are good where you could start them right now. But some have expiration dates. Others, you know, or sell high moments here where I'm a little uncomfortable. But I like the wider seeper room, Jefferson, Alave. A book as a wider seep for three is fine. I'm in the press. I've just traded a book for Ramondra. Oh, yeah, that's a good trade. I definitely will co-sign on that. Does Dan Quinn make it through the commanders by week as the head coach of the commanders? They are playing the 49ers on the row and on Monday night football and then they're going to buy after that is he still the head coach of the commanders if they get absolutely curb stomped? Man, this sucks because I don't think it's Dan Quinn's fault. I think a good coach is going to get fired. And that'd be nuts for Dan Quinn to get fired at the same time or before someone from the chargers stand. Well, I mean, they do play on Monday night. So as intense they're one of the chargers coaches to get. I mean, Mike McDaniel is probably the state. Who gets fired first? Like if we're doing this, like, I know we're not applauding or celebrating it, but it seems very likely that one of these guys don't make it. And like, I hate that this thing is getting thrown on Dan Quinn. I hate that it's like, I understand like you're the coach, right? And you, you take a certain amount of responsibility for the way that game ended. You got it. You telling me that not a single person on the microphone and the headsets was saying, we don't have any timeouts. We got to do something here. And like all the interviews have been, yeah, the understanding is you throw that ball away if it's not there. There's no circumstance in which the quarterback should run slide and not have enough time to set up a spike for the field goal. Like that's, it's, it's equally on Jaden Daniels. Like I'm starting to see the things here too where the teammates didn't exactly take a knee when he was hurt. There's a lot of like weird locker room talk that he's not a well-liked guy over there, LSU. Like his, all the modern is trashing him weekly. I mean, I'd hate to see it, man. But yeah, I don't know that Dan Quinn makes it out of the by-week. Yeah, it's, it's rough seen for the commanders. That's kind of why I listed in my article that commanders up and down the border just kind of sells even Jaden Daniels, right? Where doctors that have looked at this injury, not necessarily examine Jaden Daniels, but have said this is like a ticking time bomb where it's not a matter of, if he gets re-endured, it's a matter of when he gets re-endured. You got sack five times last week. Like, so I watched every single one of those just like kind of, yeah, right? You get infringing and like watching. How did he go down on that one? Okay, his, you know what he's doing? Those two is like he's being very particular about not putting his arm out to try to keep himself up. Like he is tucking everything in and just sort of falling to the side. And I mean, that works while you're planning for it. But then there's going to be one of these times where he gets hit and won't be able to plan for it. Yeah, so scary situation for the commanders long term. But let's hit you a couple last questions here. Before we wrap it up, Sal, let's rip these. J key for 20, yo, yo. What do you think about Drake London and DJ Moore for Amanra and Devante Smith? Yes, now do it immediately. Yes, I'm co-signing on that. Do it. I'm going, 'cause I'm going Amanra over Drake London and I'm going Devante Smith over DJ Moore. Love it. I have no qualms with this, J key for 20. Better call Bob. Do you guys think with the play, Drake May, at the current moment, will they be able to catch the bills for the division? I look, I mean, the Patriots won the division last year. I think they're probably going to split. So even though the Patriots beat Buffalo, Buffalo will probably beat the Patriots in New England. It's just kind of how these things roll. So I mean, the Bill's defense is a major problem. Like that's got to get fixed. So yeah, and I'm looking forward. So like, Bill's got the Raiders this week, which I think Bill's probably pulled out one out then a buy week. Then they've got Baltimore, Minnesota. Those are some tough games. Then they get some cupcakes with Miami. They got Kansas City and they play New England. Like the Bill's have a relatively tough schedule looking through the rest of this season here for them. And Patriots, I know that their schedule's also a bit harder this year. I'm pulling that up right now. Patriots look like they can catch up. They got the jets, the bears with the fresh with Caleb Williams getting like reintegrated as a fresh and then Miami. Like we can see the Patriots win the next three games here and be like semi back in the driver's seat. Yeah, Patriots shaky to kind of open the season, but as we've seen with a lot of these teams, it's really more about how you hit your stride weeks four, five, six, and not necessarily weeks one through three when a lot of these teams are treating it as an extension of the preseason, right? Even in like the Tom Brady era, there were a lot of games where early on the season, the Patriots didn't necessarily look like themselves. They would start two and two or something along those lines. And then they would hit their stride and win, you know, 10, 11, 12, 13 games in a row and be, you know, the number one C in the AFC. So Patriots, I think peaking at a good time, obviously Buffalo coming off that monster game against the Los Angeles rim, Josh Allen, James, like just absolutely insane what Josh Allen's able to do with his legs, but that defense doesn't need to get fixed and help because right now I think in terms of EPA per play allowed, they're like hand holding the Dallas Cowboys and like that, like that is like, that is really, really bad. Dude, I feel like it's going to come down to those final weeks and the bills play the dolphins in week 17 and then the Jetson week 18. And the Patriots play the dolphins in a week 18. So like, I feel like it's going to be that one game where it's like, all right, week 18 to decide who wins the AFCs then it's going to be the Patriots just putting the smack down on the dolphins that week to take the AFCs to get the dolphins have to make sure they lock in low. The number one overall pick next year. We'll see where the, we'll see where the chargers and Titans are at that point in terms of wins and losses. Get ready for some Kyle McCord, maybe. Oh yeah, right. They're going to be like, we're not even going to try this. We're taking Blake Willis out. We're putting all the backups in. We need to lose this game no matter what. So yeah, that should be a dub for the Patriots. So that's going to wrap it up for us here on the tailgate. Thanks for watching and hang out with us.
