The discussion also highlights political and economic developments, such as the U.S. Treasury’s tightening sanctions on Iran and UAE for trade with Iran, and a major shift in Venezuela’s oil sector due to American investment, now under Pentagon oversight. This expansion signals a strategic pivot in energy independence. Additionally, the program critiques Democratic Socialist figures like AOC and Gustavo Cordero for financial misconduct and ideological contradictions, arguing that Americans prefer free markets and reduced government interference. The piece concludes by emphasizing the importance of voter engagement amid economic challenges and the growing influence of free-market solutions in American policy.

We've got a lot of news.
I mean, for starters, the president's buying up Venezuela.
We're going to have oil coming out the wazoo.
Great stuff, right?
And then you've got the Treasury Secretary making all kinds of fun of Elizabeth Warren.
You know, that one kind of shocked me because she started, like, poking at him,
asking questions about the quote-unquote loan he was giving to Japan,
which actually isn't a loan because, well, she clearly doesn't know anything.
About currency markets.
And she's talking to, like, the kingpin of currency markets.
I've got to tell you all about that.
It's kind of funny.
He wants her to get a book called Currency Markets for Dummies.
Anyway, we begin on Kathy Hochul and Letitia James.
Kathy Hochul and Letitia James.
Wow.
I mean, these sheriffs are pretty fed up with Kathy and Letitia simultaneously.
Kathy and Letitia are getting sued by 15 sheriffs in the state of New York
because they're telling these guys,
they're not allowed to team up with ICE on anything anymore.
No, no, no.
That's against the law.
You see, here's the headline.
New York sheriffs sue over Hochul's anti-ICE law that bans government cooperation.
And she's like, oh, yeah, whatever.
Here she is, actually, on Tuesday as she unveiled all this.
And now they're coming back and saying, yeah, no way.
It's not going to work like that.
Not to mention, I'm just going to point out, this seems to be in violation of federal law.
Anyway, here's Kathy.
ICE can no longer use locally funded pleas.
To carry out the Trump administration's aggressive immigration agenda.
Local cops cannot be ordered to aid an event.
An out-of-control agency.
Oh, out-of-control agency.
And she doesn't want them helping.
She's accusing them of going out and rounding up people on the street,
which they're saying, no, that's not actually what's going on at all.
What's going on is that we have jurisdiction or the ability or wherewithal
to work with ICE when they have someone that they know.
In other words, if you commit a crime and you wind up in one of their jails,
one of the county jails, wherever it is in the state of New York,
and you are on an ICE list, they can share that information.
They can actually say, hey, you know, we're going to turn you over to ICE.
But Kathy doesn't want them doing that.
I mean, we've been through this before.
Remember, that was a big problem.
Tom Holman was really upset about that.
Eric Adams was upset about that in the city of New York.
And now.
Kathy's trying to make it illegal for you to actually work with ICE
once they're in the prisons.
And, you know, the sheriffs don't appreciate this very much
because they see her as kind of overstepping her role,
not to mention being in violation of what has already been allowed for under federal law
because Congress put this in, this particular law that allows for this coordination
back in, like, 1996 or something.
And so now there's a countersuit going on.
So they sued her.
And then Tishy Baby never met a lawsuit she doesn't want to engage in.
Tishy Baby and Hochul came back and they said, well, we're going to sue you guys.
I mean, come on.
Hochul and James both announced a countersuit, accusing him of breaking that law.
Hochul claims his county isn't serious about New Yorkers' safety.
James, meantime, says the Renneslauer County Sheriff's Office has been given every opportunity to follow the law,
yet has chosen not to.
My office is suing to enforce New York's laws
and ensure that local law enforcement agencies remain focused on their most fundamental responsibility,
keeping New Yorkers safe.
Okay.
You know, if you were going to keep them safe,
I'm going to go out on a limb and say,
maybe you want to get rid of the criminals that are already in the jails that are here illegally.
I mean, just, you know, like, so we can keep our priorities straight.
I mean, if it's so important to keep everybody safe.
Safe, of course, as they're saying.
Anyway, there's this something that was put into the federal law.
It's something called the 287 program.
It was signed in 1996, as I was mentioning.
And basically, it allows for ICE to train certain local law enforcement officers
and allows for them to perform specific immigration-related functions.
So, in other words, if you're arrested for a crime and you go into the slammer there in the county,
the sheriff can say, yep, okay, we are now going to basically work with,
with ICE to get you out of our jail and into the hands of the feds,
and you can probably get deported.
But her administration is saying, no, no, no, this is some form of civil immigration enforcement.
I mean, they're like, no, it's not civil because they're already in the jail
because they've already committed a crime.
Here's the county sheriff in Rensselaer County.
He was on earlier today on Fox with Julie Benderis,
and he was explaining the problems that,
they're having, he's one of the guys that's suing.
This law is really dangerous, Julie.
It was signed into law in May, and then it just became effective on Tuesday.
What the law does is it limits our cooperation with 287G as far as entering into contracts.
It also allows, it takes away the ability for a sheriff to house in ICE inmates,
and then it also has created the Office of Immigrant, Immigrant Trust.
And we find that extremely troubling.
That the governor and the attorney general have created an agency
within the attorney general's office to investigate sheriffs
just to make sure they're in compliance with the law.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
It's really sort of amazing because I'm looking at Kathy and I'm looking at Tish,
and it's like, guys, you have so much TDS.
You hate him so much that even when there's an opportunity to do the right thing,
and even though you've historically been doing this,
you are now backing away from that, and you're saying,
and this is the hypocrisy of it all,
you're saying that you're doing it in the name of safety.
If you want to keep your streets safe,
I would suggest that the criminals that are in your county jails,
you actually deport with the help of ICE, all right?
So the deportation thing is important.
The other thing is, like, guess what?
It costs money to keep them there.
And so you're, this is an interesting angle.
They should.
Look at this.
I mean, taxpayers should be really mad because now you as a New York taxpayer
are having to keep these people that are not even supposed to be in the country
in the first place and have committed a crime.
You're going to keep them in the jail because Kathy said
there's going to be no handing over of any of them.
You know, this has been going on and on and on and on,
and then the law just became a thing, as you know, this week.
And it's really kind of concerning.
The other thing you've got to think about here is federalism
federal versus state law.
I mean, who's on first, right?
If you've got Congress creating the law, as they did in 1996, 287G,
and they're saying you've got to work with ICE or you can work with ICE,
federal law allows for and authorizes ICE to enter these facilities
and enter these agreements and train local law enforcement
so that they can turn these people over.
And now New York is passing a state law saying, don't you dare.
And you're going to get fired and worse, right, if you dare to work with ICE.
Well, it seems to me that if you go back to the supremacy clause, right,
in the Constitution, that actually the federal government would have jurisdiction over this one.
And I think the sheriffs have an argument with that.
And then the other argument they have is, hey, hang on, we're just doing our job.
And if we voluntarily want to work in cooperation with federal law enforcement,
then we should be able to.
And she's saying, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
So this is going to be a big one for the Trump Justice Department.
This is going to be basically. a look at sort of, again, that whole state versus federal government.
And look, you know, we've seen it before.
And we've certainly seen governors before in history.
You can go back to the 60s, right, and George Wallace and University of Alabama, if you would.
You know, they're trying to stand at the door and stop federal law enforcement
from allowing for students to be integrated in the school.
I mean, a different kind of story, but still relevant in that it is one thing
16.
again, the state thinking that it calls the shots when you have the feds in charge of one
immigration and two with a lot on the books allowing for this ICE integration into these
jails locally. So I just got to say, you know, can a governor use state power to override the feds?
I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't think that's possible. I mean, I know that
she doesn't necessarily have to engage in and commit resources to helping ICE. She can say,
well, that's your jurisdiction. But if somebody is in the jail already and you have a law and a
carve out that allows for ICE to work with these states and you have sheriffs in these various
counties, I mean, there's 15 of them suing her that want to work with ICE, then what is going
on?
I mean, really and truly, what is going on? It's all messed up big time. I want to mention,
you know, I just got back from a very long trip, which means I have a lot of laundry
and I hate doing laundry. OK, like I really, really hate it. So this company,
this thing actually made it fun. I'm like, you know, if you can make my laundry fun,
I'm interested. It's called Laundry Sauce. You can get 20 percent off if you go to
LaundrySauce.com forward slash.
Regan, my last name, R-E-G-A-N. What's really neat is like all this stuff, you know, you kind
of feel like a little bit of a chemist, right? You're like mixing it in and have all these
different scents. And I don't know if you know this about me. You know that I have amazing hearing
and I actually have a tremendous sense of smell. I can't see it all. OK, I have to wear contacts
or glasses. I can't see. But my sight and my smell is pretty good. So like I care how my clothes smell
and I care.
I can't see. I can't see. I can't see. I can't see. I can't see. I can't see. I can't see. I can't see.
They smell really great. And this stuff is really great. They have a whole bunch of different.
I'll just tell you, I like the Italian Bergamot because, you know, I just got back from Italy.
But they have Brazilian vanilla. They have Australian sandalwood, all kinds of really
wonderful, great scents, great scents. So go check it out. I mean, you get 20 percent off the
entire order if you go to LaundrySauce.com forward slash Regan, R-E-G-A-N. Make your laundry day fun.
That's all I can say. I was like, you know what? I'm not looking forward to doing any of this. And
suddenly I am. What do you know? Elizabeth Warren getting positively destroyed today. I mean,
this was just embarrassing. Embarrassing. She doesn't know anything about markets, clearly.
So much so that Scott Besson, our Treasury Secretary, who knows a lot about markets,
certainly currency markets, is trying to offer currency markets for dummies book.
Senator Warren, a gift.
What is this, Mr. Besson?
Foreign exchange for dummies. You need it.
This is absurd. I understand economics.
Clearly not, Senator.
Clearly. So there was a little meme that's going around. And rightly so. This meme is going around
because clearly she doesn't know anything. I mean, she's the lady that stands up there,
right, all the time and is trying to go on and on about how she's protecting the American
consumer and this and that and acting all high and mighty as though she's some, you know,
great woman.
Great whiz on the economy. And I got to tell you, she's not. She's just not. She's not. He was
brutal to her. So here's the letter, okay, that Scott Besson sent out today. And I'm going to just
read it to you, or at least parts of it to you, because it's quite funny. Dear Senator Warren,
I am in receipt of your August 13th letter, which unfortunately reveals that you know even less
about foreign exchange markets than you do about banking. Terrifyingly, the opening paragraph is
wrong.
About where the money came, what the transaction was, and whether there was even a borrower.

Stop. This is SimpliSafe. We don't just alert. SimpliSafe. Tennessee 2-0-1-2.
What is equally shocking but not surprising is that not a single member of your media mob had a rudimentary enough level of financial market literacy to. You spot your remedial error.
So here's the thing.
She's all upset because he did a deal with Japan, and basically in this credit swap deal, he said,
you know what, your currency, it's really struggling.
The yen has been struggling big time, right?
So he said, I'm going to go in there, and I'm going to help you out by we, the US of A, the Treasury Department,
we're going to go sell some euros, and with those euros, we're going to go and we're going to go buy Japanese yen.
Okay?
And then we're going to hold the yen.
So that's exactly what he did.
He sold some euros, and he bought some yen, which means he's not lending anybody any money.
I mean, she was all worked up.
How dare you be giving this big loan to Japan?
And he's like, what loan?
It was a currency swap, you idiot.
He went on to say, Treasury exchanged existing exchange stabilization fund foreign currency.
Okay.
Assets for yen.
That's exactly what I was just saying, right?
You know, we, as a Treasury Department, we have all kinds of currencies that we hold.
And we decided we're going to lose some of the euros.
We're going to buy some yen.
And that helps Japan because it helps support their currency.
Now, what is the risk?
She's like, I can't believe you lent that money.
Are we ever going to get that money back?
We didn't lend anything.
It's still our money.
That's what's so funny about this.
I could not believe.
Like.
Here's the thing.
Like, Google it.
Okay.
Elizabeth Warren and your staff.
Like, why would you assume it was a bailout?
Why would you assume that we were just extending them big credit?
And if you wanted to ask the right questions, the right questions would have been things like,
gee, are you that confident in the Japanese yen?
Because you just bought a lot of it.
And I'm worried the Japanese yen might go down.
And I'm worried, you know, you're really screwed up because the euro is going to go up.
That would have been a logical question.
Okay.
But she just proved her idiocy.
Idiocy.
And like, here's the other thing.
He's also making the point that if the Japanese yen went down, down, down, down, down, down, down,
it would actually be bad for us.
Why?
Because then they would be in some kind of crunch and they might look to sell their treasuries.
And if they sell U.S. treasuries, guess what?
Our interest rates go even higher.
So he's thinking ahead.
Elizabeth Warren, I don't know what she's thinking.
I don't think she can do a simple Google search.
I think she's not only not smart.
She's extraordinarily arrogant because she just assumes that she knows all about currency markets.
And like, this is basic stuff.
Okay.
This is really, really, really basic stuff.
And, you know, the media, they just, they take her side.
They assume it's a bailout.
Of course they do.
I mean, think about what, that was one of his lines too.
He said, you know, even less about foreign exchange markets than you do about banking.
I love that.
And then he hit the media.
He said, not a single member of your.
Media mob has a rudimentary enough level of financial market literacy to spot your remedial error.
Of course, he explained there was no credit extended to Japan.
Japan owes treasury nothing.
There is therefore no risk that Japan will fail to pay a debt that does not exist.
I mean, she's not bright, right?
What do you think?
I mean, what's going on with her?
You couldn't even take two seconds to do a simple little search.
And then, you know, he really.
Delivered it with.
I hope your next letter will demonstrate that you have learned the difference between a currency purchase and a swap or a loan.
You probably won't.
But you heard his bit about the media, right?
The media is clueless.
They don't know.
I mean, this happened recently with the Argentine bailout thing, quote unquote bailout.
That wasn't a bailout because we made money on it.
Right.
And the MSNBC reporter thought he had a he thought he had the treasury secretary.
I mean, he's forgotten that this guy took down the Bank of England.
Oh, yeah.
And then made a heck of a lot of money.
He was shorting the yen like he was the king of currency markets.
And they say this to him.
Very amid this discussion of costs and prices and affordability.
How does a 20 billion dollar bailout of Argentina help Americans?
You're the president's point person on that.
Can you explain to those here who are feeling the pinch, including America's farmers, why the United States is helping out Argentina?
Well, can you do you know what a swap line is?
It's currency swap.
Yes.
Yes.
But what what is that?
That's you're the treasury secretary.
Yes.
But why would you call it a bailout?
That is how in most bailouts.
you don't make money. The U.S. government made money. We used our financial balance sheet to
stabilize the government, one of our great allies in Latin America during an election. The president
there won in a landslide. The government's going to make money. And I would rather use peace through
economic strength than have to be shooting at narco boats coming offshore if the government
collapsed. Yeah, I mean, he's just playing on a different level, clearly a whole different level
than the MSNBC reporter and clearly a whole different level than Elizabeth Warren and
Elizabeth Warren's flunkies that she surrounds herself with that even allowed for her to say
these things and to ask these idiotic questions. It's unbelievable, really and truly. But, you know,
Warren and Besant, they have a bit of a history. Remember when she started grilling him
on Capitol Hill?
And he got her good.
The president also made a joke about you that I won't repeat, Senator Warren.
That was the easy one.
Oh, actually, I will. He said he had reservations.
You know, if this was a joke, why not just say so?
It was a joke. And he made a joke about you, too, Senator Warren.
Yes, he did.
Got a lot of laughs. Got a lot of laughs.
Yeah.
So.
You know what joke that was. And I just want to thank you because you're very, very special people.
You were here long before any of us were here.
Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago.
They call her Pocahontas. But you know what? I like you.
There you go. That was a joke.
Unfortunately, Elizabeth Warren's demand to understand why we were bailing.
Bailing out and lending money. It was not bailing out. Lending money to Japan.
That was not a joke. She was dead serious. And she really exposed herself.
I mean, he I mean, this was just it was perfect.
It was absolutely perfect. And he's right.
At the end, he said the American people deserve oversight grounded in facts rather than slogans.
Although I am not holding my breath, I hope your next letter will demonstrate.
That you have learned the difference between a currency purchase.
Again, we're buying yen and a swap or a loan.
We're not lending them dollars. We are selling some euros to buy some yen.
And she has no clue what any of this. And this woman is a senator.
And this woman is out there. I am the financial protector of Americans.
I mean, she doesn't understand financial markets at all.
And again, just to reiterate, say what you want about Besson.
That guy is unrivaled in terms of his knowledge of how financial markets, especially currency markets, internationally worked.
He, along with Stan Chocomiller, along with I think it was just Stan and well, they worked for Shores at the time.
They basically shorted the British pound to the point where they broke the British bank.
OK, and they made a ton of money.
It was like a billion dollars that they made on this trade.
And it's very famous.
He's a currency trader, for goodness sakes, Lizzie.
Get your facts right before you go out on these limbs, because you're just embarrassing yourself really, really badly.
Speaking of these credit lines and credit swaps.
Stan is out there demanding, demanding, demanding, demanding.
We talked a little bit about this yesterday, but it's relevant in that we're talking about the president and forgive me, we're talking about the treasury secretary.
Oh, is that like was that like a Freudian slip?
You know, we talked about 2028 just yesterday and we were talking about Marco and we're talking about J.D.
Maybe we need to be talking about Besson in all seriousness.
I mean, like he is one smart dude.
And if you want to use financial weaponry.
All right.
To kind of make your place in the world.
He's the guy to do it.
Anyway, I digress.
Pakistan's getting kind of greedy here.
Pakistan wants one of these credit swap facilities to the tune of 10 billion dollars.
So they want more like Argentina style for us to be able to lend them money from time to time and to hopefully make a profit.
I don't think we're going to lend it unless we would.
And they want to have a 10 billion dollar credit.
So they've come to Washington.
They're meeting with treasury officials and they want this and they want it bad and they want it now.
And they're saying that they expect a reply like next week.
They're expecting a reply very, very soon.
And I guess they think they should get this because they've been negotiating.
On our behalf with Iran, they've been like the middleman right in between.
But, you know, they haven't really exactly done a very good job, if I'm going to be perfectly honest, because.
Sure, we're getting we're getting boats through the Strait of Hormuz now, and that's been confirmed.
But, you know, let's just be perfectly honest here.
It's not like it's going that well.
No, no, no, not that well.
And yet you've got Pakistan saying we want a 10 billion dollar facility.
And as I said, it would be closer to Argentina.
This wouldn't be something like we did, which we definitely probably don't want to buy their currency because I don't have a whole lot of faith it's necessarily going to be that supportive.
They nearly.
They nearly defaulted not too long ago.
So they want to be able to basically access, right, the benefits of the U.S.
I think they have one actually with China right now.
So then I guess would they give that up and they'd take ours?
But here's the problem.
If you're going to do that, you're going to have to give up something.
Right, Pakistan?
Because the UAE, we gave them a swap facility and the UAE in exchange did a couple of things.
They stopped all trade with Iran and they bailed on OPEC, but I'm right like that's what I'm talking about, baby, financial weaponry and it's good because there's a lot of reasons for us to be working with UAE and we want friends over there right and we want them dependent on us and not on China.
So that made all the sense in the world and they're very good credit risks.
I started my career, by the way.
Some of you know this.
Some of you don't.
But I started on the soccer.
Sovereign debt market desk at Goldman Sachs many, many years ago and we were trading sovereign debt.
So basically fixed income bonds, right, the equivalent of our treasury market for all these various countries.
And so you think about what is the credit risk with something like Pakistan.
It's obviously more of a credit risk than the UAE.
The UAE has deep pockets.
I'm not so sure about Pakistan.
So Pakistan's like, OK, we want this $10 billion credit facility, but we don't.
We still want to be able to trade with Iran.
And they're also coming out and say, well, you know, you guys are calling off and that's best this week saying no more, no more, no more trade.
All our friends, you're going to be friends with us.
You're going to trade with us, but you're not going to trade with Iran.
And if you're trading with Iran, then, you know, we're going to give you a chance here to knock it off.
But if you don't knock it off, then there's going to be a double L to pay and we're not going to trade with you anymore.
Right. And this is important because these sanctions have to have teeth.
And so Pakistan, in the face of this, comes back and says they're not obliged to comply with unilateral sanctions on Iran unless they are imposed by the U.N., the United Nations.
You know, U.N. is the only one in charge, the U.N., who has.

Well, some very sketchy things about it, shall we say, right?
So, no, that's not going to. Listen, it's very simple.
You can choose not to comply, and we can choose not to trade with you.
Right?
And you kind of need us trading with you.
Don't you, Pakistan?
I think you probably need us more than you need, say, Iran.
Iran's got some big trading partners, though.
Take a look at that list.
We've been looking at this one all week.
I think it's really rather interesting to see this.
You look at these trade partners, and we're just going to go down that list,
and one by one, we're going to get rid of them, really.
I mean, so Pakistan, I think it's probably not smart.
You're trading right now $3 billion a year with Iran.
I know you want to increase it to somewhere around $10 billion.
I think we're probably a little more important, just a little bit more important, right?
We better be.
And so if you want this loan facility to the tune of $10 billion,
then I don't think you need to be trading with Iran.
In terms of what we do trade with Pakistan, this is interesting.
They are exporting, it looks like, to the U.S.
$4 billion.
$4.6 billion.
This would make us the largest market for Pakistan.
So we are, just like with Canada, we are their biggest client.
So they sell more to us than anyone else in the world.
And that's kind of, you know, it's like these people are delusional.
I really do think that, like, some of them are truly delusional
because they don't seem to recognize that.
They don't seem to recognize where the bread is buttered, so to speak.
And the U.S. is buttering everyone's bread, like everyone, right?
Like, you know, Canada, good luck with it.
I mean, we buy 16 times as many, as much dollar-wise worth of goods
from Canada than China does.
In fact, if you take the entire world, we buy 2.3 times as many goods from Canada,
and yet Canada is pulling.
I mean, for political reasons, I suspect.
They just want to be like, oh, we hate Trump.
This TDS thing is really kind of a problem.
But, you know, you've got Pakistan doing this Iran deal,
and I guess they want to get rewarded for it for some reason.
And, you know, I don't discount that or begrudge them that.
They should get some kind of preferential treatment.
I would like to see it to the finish line.
We really haven't gotten there.
But, again, I want to play you.
Operation Economic Outcast.
In other words, we're going to be doing this.
We're going to be doing this.
In other words, we are going to isolate Iran.
And if you're not on board with isolating Iran,
then it's not really going to work for you to trade with us.
Iran now faces a very clear choice with only two paths before them.
Complete global isolation and a subsistence economy
or a path back to normalcy with an opportunity to rejoin the global economy.
Today, we are launching Operation Economic Outcast.
To foreclose every other option available to the Iranian regime.
Treasury has mapped every node, every facilitator, and every network that Iran has used to smuggle oil and evade sanctions.
Beginning today, the actions of Treasury and other agencies will tighten the noose
and block every potential source of revenue that funds the IRGC and the evil Iranians.
technology. And things are happening.
This was first reported a few hours earlier this morning, I should say, when there was some talk and chatter at Axios that basically we were about to strike oil, we were about to get that deal.
And then I can tell you later in the day, it came out, and this is independent of what the administration is doing, Chevron is completing its deal in Venezuela to migrate, expand oil projects.
Sources say that's supposed to be a very, very big deal.
So this is overall, I'm just going to tell you, it's massive.
And it's really important for our future, for our kids' future, for their kids' future, because you're talking about, again, the largest source of oil in the world.
You thought Saudi Arabia had it?
No, no, no, no, no.
It's right here in the Western Hemisphere, two and a half hours from Miami in Venezuela.
So some people would say to me, especially when Biden was in.
And it looked like maybe there were some negotiating room.
And they're like, I was I was positive on it.
I'm like, sure.
You know what?
Whatever it takes, like find a way to make things work.
Would you get the Chinese out?
It's our backyard, for goodness sakes.
And they got oil and they need technology.
And they need help.
They need money, right?
They need jobs.
We can do it all.
And now we own that.
So this is huge for Donald Trump.
It's huge for his legacy.
It's huge for the country.
Way.
To go.
This is called make America great again.
OK, wonderful news.
Meanwhile, OPEC is crashing out because we got another friend.
Right.
You saw what happened with the UAE.
They're like, bye bye, OPEC.
And now Venezuela is talking about saying bye bye, OPEC.
So that's another story breaking today.
Of course, that's going to happen.
Of course, because basically we sort of are going to be Venezuela's oil.
Right.
You got Chevron down there, other American companies.
You've got.
Our interest.
Oh, and that's going to be controlled by.
I should point this out.
The Pentagon's Office of Strategic Capital.
They're going to be overseeing all of that oil.
So you've got the Pentagon overseeing the oil, the Strategic Capital Office.
You've got Chevron down there, very active, additional oil companies going in.
And, you know, this is what they were actually seeking.
I want to just back up for a minute because we've talked a lot about, you know, why didn't we see more investment going in?
And I think they were reluctant companies, American companies.
They were a little bit scared.
Like, how do we know that we're not going to see a repeat of Chavez all over again?
And once Donald Trump did this deal and said, no, no, the U.S. is going to be there and we're going to own some assets there.
Then it became a more comfortable environment.
Remember when he was joking about it being the 51st state?
And I had one of my investor friends who actually has worked very heavily in terms of restructuring the debt in Venezuela.
He came on the show and he was like, yeah, you know, bring it on.
51st state.
And he was kind of being tongue in cheek and kidding a little bit.
But he said what's important is that people need to understand that there's a rule of law that your property is not going to be confiscated and that there's recourse, et cetera.
And so this is what Donald Trump is bringing to Venezuela by having that stake with the U.S. being there and the Pentagon being there alongside these other American companies being there.
It's just massive.
I can't tell you how great this is.
And I'll tell you, I've been I've been saying this for years.
I'm like a broken record.
My husband's like, would you stop talking about Venezuela?
I'm like, but there's so much oil.
And then we wouldn't have to rely on the on the Middle East.
Right.
It's right here at home.
It makes so much sense.
And I know that Marco knows that and thinks that.
I also know Pete because, you know, we.

Tennessee 2-0-1-2.
We're colleagues at Fox together and we talked about this from time to time
and he also is a big believer in that.
I mean, who wouldn't?
Right?
It's kind of a no-brainer, especially right now.
Anyway, what's also fascinating here is that Venezuela is basically,
I suspect, bit by bit, going to be inching away from socialism.
Because socialism. Socialism never, ever, ever works.
You know, all these socialists, like you saw with Chavez and Maduro
and their energy minister cronies that couldn't get the oil out of the ground,
they all turned to grifters, right?
Nobody was actually doing their job or doing anything.
They were all a bunch of grifters.
And it reminds me, when I think about it, right?
It reminds me about what we're seeing here in the U.S. with socialists, like AOC.
Remember when she couldn't pay for her dress?
And she actually wound up with an infraction from the Ethics Committee as a result of that?
And then you think about this new. I mean, they're all grifters.
Boo, those socialist grifters, they are getting caught.
I'm telling you, caught big time.
You know that guy in New York?
The United States Senate is a non-democratic institution.
Gustavo Cardillo or something, he's got like a one-and-a-half-million-dollar pad in Brooklyn
that his parents pay for.
Well, he's doing all these renovations and he didn't file. for any permits.
I mean, I'm not surprised.
Really, I'm not surprised.
Oh, and AOC, it turns out she's been stiffing the Democrat Socialists of America
for the last seven, eight years.
And she just finally paid her dues.
I hope she paid the back dues.
I hope she did.
Anyway, here with more on all of it,
my good friend Kent Strang from AFP.
Welcome back to the show.
Great to be with you, Trish.
How are you?
I'm good.
I'm not surprised.
Like, by any of this.
This headline in the New York Post today,
DSA boss Gustavo Cordero's pricey New York City home hit with fine
for $1.4 million renovations without permits.
Kent, I don't think he likes permits any more than we do.
This is too rich.
I think it's pretty amazing that the Democratic Socialists in their manifesto on housing,
who claim that they want to have government control over housing,
increase the amount of government-owned housing,
and have the government absolutely control every single thousand of housing rent freezes.
He wants to stiff out on permits.
Maybe he ought to come work with me and see if we ought to get rid of the permitting system
that actually stops innovation, stops to the building of housing,
and maybe we could work together and say,
hey, you know what, maybe we could get the government out of the way
and we actually build housing because the reality of the situation is that if you want to build,
a new house in America,
a quarter of the price has to do with regulatory barriers,
including permits, Gustavo.
Well, you know, I think that one of the things that troubles me
and troubles all of us, right, about a lot of these, quote unquote,
socialists, or I'd even go so far as to say just communists,
is that they have a sort of different system of rules, right?
When it comes to themselves, they think that they're playing by a whole other set.
Yeah, rules for thee and not for me.
And I think this is just a great example of it.
And we see this time and time again of socialists and communist leaders living in luxury.
Meanwhile, everybody else is in a bread line.
People live in poverty.
And this is what happens in socialist movements.
And we absolutely have to stop that.
We cannot let democratic socialism get a toehold
because we know that central planning, government control does not lead,
to the kind of life that we want to live in America.
It's unleashing free markets.
It's getting rid of barriers.
That's what's going to fix this.
You know, they claim that they talk to Americans about what they want
and what they want to see.
I can tell you my team and my friends at Americans for Prosperity crisscross this great country.
They talk to Americans every single day at their doorstop and at events.
No one, and I mean nobody, is clamoring to eliminate the Senate,
to eliminate the Supreme Court.
They want. Apparently what Gustavo wants, they want to get the permits out of the way.
They want the government to step out of their lives.
They want to thrive.
They want to succeed.
They want to grow their small business.
That's what people want.
Yeah.
And government is an impediment to it, Trish.
Not helpful to them.
You mentioned how Gustavo would like to see the Senate go away.
This came up recently on Fox News, and it was sort of funny
because my former colleague over there, Martha McCallum, had to give the guy a civics lesson.
Just to kind of help frame this for everyone, for the viewers out there.
This is Gustavo,
doesn't clearly know his, well, I'm not going to be crude. My aunt used to say his ass from his
elbow. But anyway, here we go. It gives
more representation to people in smaller states than to the 30 million people in California.
You've got the House of Representatives, which is population driven, and then you've got the
Senate. So every state, if you're a small state, you still get two senators, even though you only
get maybe one congressman in order to make all of the states have fair representation. So you say,
I'm just confused. When you ask normal Americans if Congress and the Senate and our political
system is working for them, most people are very unhappy with the political system and they say
it's not working for them. Okay. But I don't think that they're willing to
tear up the constitution and get rid of the Senate. I mean, hey, you know what? He's not wrong.
I think that you probably pick up on the same vibe, right? People are frustrated. They're
dealing with inflation. They don't like what's going on right now. You know, I would point out
inflation is a lot better than it was under Joe Biden, but still, you know, we still have
memories of what prices were like pre-2020. And so it's still hard. But the answer is not to
just dismantle everything, Kent. No, that's not the answer. And man, our civics classes
failed this gentleman. This was a hotly debated topic of the constitutional convention. And they
made a compromise on how we would do apportionment between large states and small states. You can go
back and check the receipts and read it. And I did not go to an Ivy League school, but there's a lot
of history lessons in books that you can pick that up. He did, by the way. Ivy League, alive and well
in socialism. They did not do him any services here, but he
claims to go talk to all these real Americans who are frustrated with the system. Who? Because again,
let's look at the receipts. I do have the receipts. Americans for Prosperity has the receipts. This is
not what Americans are climbing for. They are frustrated with Congress because they want Congress
to focus on real priorities. They want Congress to focus on the cost of gas, the cost of groceries,
the cost of living. Our polling shows that when you look at the biggest drivers of what Americans care about, and we
talk to them at the doorstep, if you look at the top priorities of Americans, the economy is number one. And even if you add up the next seven, they don't add up to the cost of living, but they don't want government control. Again, back to the housing issues, back to the permitting issues. They want the government to get out of the lot out of their lives. It continues to be a barrier for them. That's why things like the working families tax cut to put money back in their pocket are so important. And when we rewind of where the government has been in a barrier and an impediment to
us, it's the regulatory state. It's $5 trillion in new spending the Biden administration that led to 21 and a half percent cumulative inflation that made our dollar and our purchasing power so bad. It's the green new scam that the democratic socialists just love that made energy prices so high that we had to pull back and rein in that made prices better at the gas pump. Those are the things that drive costs. The government's the culprit. Free market is the solution. Get the government out of the way. I think
that some politicians actually do know that, you know, maybe not Gustavo. He's not really a
politician. He's a leader in this DSA movement in New York city, but AOC maybe sorta kinda knows
that. If you think about what she was telling ABC news just a couple of weeks ago, they were like,
are you a member of the national chapter? And she said, no, she said she was just a member of the
New York city chapter, which actually, you know, speaking of grifters while we're on the topic,
it, they went and checked.
So the DSA overall was like, oh, she's a, she's a New York city chapter member. Well, you can't just
be a chapter member in New York city. You know, this is communism after all, you have to be all
in right for the whole shebang. And so they went and they checked the roles and it turned out she
hadn't paid in years. She wasn't even paying her dues for the New York city chapter or anything
else. And so I guess just, uh, yesterday she decided to finally write a check. It reminds
me of the tax, the rich dress. Remember that she wore to the big Met gala.
And then they found out she had all these ethics committee violations because she never paid for
anything. And that was a real problem. And then there were people, she vendors that she said she
was going to pay and she never paid them and they were getting upset. It's like, what is the deal
with these people? They don't even pay their bills.
It seems like AOC, Gustavo, they don't want their cake and eat it too. They want to be socialists
when they feel like it.
It benefits them. And they want to distance themselves from socialists when they feel like
it's, it's going to hurt them. And AOC is a great example of, oh, I'm a part of the local chapter,
but I don't want the baggage of the national chapter when folks like Gustavo go on and talk
about eliminating the Senate and eliminating, you know, the presidency of the Supreme court.
And I hope they redistributed her dues when they got it there and divided those equally
among everybody. Comrade and Elsa is, is, is the same way.
Look at what he's done over the last couple of weeks of he has been the Batman to the Robin of
Hassan Piker. And then all of a sudden he's distancing himself away from the radical views
of Piker. They know that when you look at the radical views of the democratic socialist and
their manifesto and what they actually believe, they know that those ideas are so out of touch
with Americans because Americans believe in the American dream.
Americans know it doesn't work. And I think that when you look at some of the polls,
data, sure, you see this momentum right in the primaries, but then when it comes to who's actually
going to win Michigan, Elsa, he does not doing very well and he should be doing better because
Michigan has been a pretty reliable blue state for the Senate for decades and decades and decades.
It was interesting because I couldn't think of another example where you actually had
a democratic candidate who was down at least four points, four points in a Senate poll in Michigan.
And it turns out for this entire century, Abdullah said is the only one in a poll
that meets CNN standards for publication. This is extremely, extremely, extremely unusual.
Abdullah said breaking records in the ways that you don't want to. In fact,
he is the first Democrat down by this much, as I said, essentially since 1994.
I do want to caution first, though, that polls may not look good, but you have to get
off your couch if you live in those states and it's not enough to vote anymore. You have to
knock on the doors. You have to make the phone calls. You have to talk to your friends and your neighbors.
You have to beat this and beat this badly. Don't trust the poll numbers. Defeat it outright and
defeat it so bad that they don't run candidates like this ever again. And we're doing that with
Americans for Prosperity Action in Michigan. The team is crushing doors every single day. And so
don't take anything for granted. But I think the way that we got to this is the economic failures
of the Biden administration. We cause rampant inflation and we have young people who can't afford their
first house, who can't afford groceries. And I think when you have a Democratic Socialist movement
saying, you know, we can fix it immediately because everything now is free, free, free,
free, free housing, free health care, free tuition, everything will be given and on a
silver platter here for you. I think people have not had that education to say, well, who pays for
this? How much does it cost? Has this been tried before? Has it worked? Has it failed? And the
more of those free things has has brought them into this. And I think that we're quickly going
to find out that you run out of other people's money to quote the great Margaret Thatcher.
And but we have to continue to beat the drum and beat these bad ideas with good ideas. So it's
going to require better ideas. It's going to require real policy solutions. And it's going
to require Americans to get off their couch, not just vote, get into the fight and take
a swing at socialism. Well, listen, I hope everybody's inspired.
Thank you for listening to you. If you are, and I imagine you are because Kent's right,
you know, you got to do something. Go check out A250toolkit.com/Trish because this is AFP's sort

forward slash Trish and tell them I sent you and join them and go door to door. It's crazy that
this is happening. Really, it is crazy. We just got word though, the president is very committed
to basically campaigning ahead of midterms. He's going to be doing a rally every single day in
October. Wow. He's one busy guy, one busy guy, and then running the world on top of it. Anyway,
a lot of really cool stuff going on. I mean, when you think about it,
A lot of really cool stuff.
We also got word today.
that Treasury Secretary Besant actually has sanctioned a bank.
I believe this is one out of the UAE,
and the UAE is the one that was on our good list, right?
Because it turns out they're doing business with Iran, that particular bank.
He's serious.
Like, every company in every country is going to have to button up,
and you're either with us or you're against us at this point.
They're not pushing it as much, I'm going to be honest, with China,
although the president just yesterday said,
well, how do you know I'm not?
I mean, maybe they are behind the scenes,
but they haven't taken on the big kahuna there.
But with some of these smaller countries,
I mean, certainly Pakistan, for example,
they're going to, and they will.
And then you look at what we have for success in Venezuela.
I just got to tell you, I cannot underscore enough
how big a deal that is and what good news that is.
Let me just see if I can see.
I'm going to look at oil right now.
By the way, I'm sorry, we were on much later today,
but you know what?
It was the first week of school.
It was.
I can't believe everybody's going back so early now.
In my day, I used to go back after Labor Day.
But with the first week of school,
I had a whole bunch of stuff to catch up on.
Plus, I wanted to make sure we gave you one big meaty show as usual.
And I'm just looking at crude oil.
You see that it was down today.
It closed down about, you know, nine cents,
so 83 bucks a barrel there on the NYMEX for crude oil.
I imagine that we will see,
lower oil in part based on this news.
Of course, it's a big thing to bite off, if you would, right?
Because you've got to get the technology down there.
But amazing, super exciting.
There's good stuff happening.
I hope people realize it, right?
I mean, Kent's right.
As we go into midterms, you really hope that people realize
what's at stake, number one.
Venezuela is a great example.
I mean, I was a young analyst.
This is 1999, yeah, at Goldman Sachs.
And we were trading sovereign debt in Venezuela.
And Chavez was recently coming into power.
He had been elected fairly because he was offering some other alternative.
And they went from being the wealthiest country in all of Latin America to the poorest.
I mean, people were starving there.
So that's what socialism does to you, all right?
Like, it's a great recent case study, two and a half hours from Florida.
That's what socialism does.
And the idea that some of these people are out there embracing it and thinking that this
is an alternative, I think it's happened because the Democrat Party had this massive hole in it.
Democrat Party didn't offer anything new in terms of policies that would work for the people.
You know, they just wanted open borders, open borders, open borders.
And they were given all these handouts.
This is what happens with socialism and communism to the elites.
And people realized it, which is why you've seen this big change, this big shift.
You know, with unions now coming on board and saying, I want to vote for Trump.
And everybody who lives in those border areas saying, I want to vote for Trump.
So lots of good stuff happening.
We do hope that everybody realizes it because it is going to be an important election.
I will be here every step of the way with you through all of it.
Thank you for being here on this Friday.
