We are on what day 14 of the LeBron watch. I cannot be annoyed if I'm going to open my show with it because I'm just as guilty as everybody else of doing the updates. I've been watching TV every now and then. It's like, okay, we're going to keep doing this because let's not make any mistake. He and his team love this shit, love it. So, after the Bronny James decision of 629, which I'm never going to forget, that move, where Bronny's contract was guaranteed for $26.27, just over $2 million dollars. All this is kind of waiting around, right? And there's been different scenarios. There was some golden state momentum because I think a lot of people would just be so excited about how interesting that would be. And we've covered all this before. I've talked about the teams that I thought would make sense. But there's something that's happening that I think is worth revisiting because I always love going back and looking at history to try to predict what's happening right now. Because his group, for whatever reason, and I'm like, I like Rich Paul a lot, but I would say, and I think I even said it once the last time we talked to each other, which was just a game we randomly ran into each other. He's a huge college football fan. So he only wanted to talk about college football, but I had said something where I thought like maybe he was coming over to give me a shit about that, but he's actually really smart. He's like, I was gonna give you a shit about anything. I said, I don't care what you say. But I would say this in the past. And I'll say it again, I don't understand the obsession with just kind of wasting everybody's time and they love doing it. They just love doing it because I think this this whole we control the message thing, which they do a very good job of. I think it's like a detriment to the team that you're going to sign with because everybody's on hold. And it's funny now. I was thinking about it this morning. I was getting ready for the show. This is now three times in six years that I felt bad for heart. And that would be the kind of re-situation with the nets, the sixers exit. And now right now, like even if he's not my favorite bet to get it done in the playoffs, maybe there'll just be a full circle moment where heart will be over my house and we'll just dash it all out. We'll talk about it. But right now, like I feel bad about the situation he's in even though there is a Cleveland move to be able to try to find a way to get LeBron at a certain number, depending on whatever that number is. If it really is the minimum, then all of this stuff is super solvable. But it also means there's all these other fan bases trying to figure out if he's actually in play when none of us really think that he is and that it's ultimately going to be Cleveland. And it's always been Cleveland, but they just like doing this shit, which also tells me that retirement Torah is going to be like unhinged. I don't know if it's an attention-seeking thing. I don't know if there's some deficiency there. May does he go home and the kids don't listen? Does the wife not listen to you? I mean, like sometimes I will wonder why is this so important to you? But I think it's just when you were a global star, that's not necessarily something that you want to walk away from because it's probably a lot of fun to have everybody talking about you that much. Or at least they seem to enjoy it as much. I would think this many years in, you still want to do all this shit. But yes, it's the answer. They do want to do all this shit. There's only been one LeBron move where I felt very locked in about what was going to happen. And that was when he left Miami to go back to Cleveland. That was the only time I felt like I had good information. And again, I'm telling you right now, this is just speculative based on the history. So if you go back to 2018, which is important here, that's when he went to the Lakers after leaving Cleveland. I think a lot of people after the fact made it sound like that was an automatic. But remember what the Lakers did, roster wise, and some of the conversations that we had eight summers ago when we were trying to figure out if he was going to go stay in Cleveland, go to LA, maybe go to LA in a year because he was doing those year-to-year, year-to-year deals with Cleveland, which drove them crazy when he did a longer term thing with more security with the Lakers. And then Philadelphia. Philadelphia was theoretically in play in 2018. So LeBron ended up going to the Lakers. And the group there was MoVogner who wasn't even a guy yet. They brought in Rondo. There was the KCP contract. Remember the year prior in 17, he got a one-year deal at $17.7 million. You're like, wait a minute, who is his agent? And they're like, oh, it's clutch. Like, hey, we'll pay KCP almost $18 million when nobody else will. For one year, just to let you know how much we appreciate the operation you have over there. And if LeBron were to want to come to the Lakers, they also signed Lance Stevenson, Cheval McGee. They had Caruso who wasn't a real guy yet. That was also part of it. Ingram, Lanzo, Kuzma, Tyson Chandler was done. I mean, Caruso had only played 62 games the first two years of his career there in L.A. But the thought was when it happened, you're like, that's what they're doing around him. Like, that's where he wants to go. I remember, too, there was like this argument. They're like, they're going to get out run. This is the most athletes LeBron's ever had. Like, they're just going to be like, no, they're not going to run. Because LeBron's the best half court player we've maybe ever seen. So he doesn't want to run. And he doesn't have to run because what he does works every single time anyway. So that was the collection of guys that he teamed up with. And it was pretty underwhelming. I don't know if he had been more open with the Lakers of like, I'm coming in 2018. So like prepare the ships. If there's a possibility there, but part of the argument was that he could stay in the east because the east was weaker. They were getting to the finals. It felt like constantly Boston was still too young. They were ahead of schedule. And there was either the Cleveland scenario or there was the Philadelphia scenario. Philadelphia had just been eliminated in the playoffs early on. But you felt terrific about Embed's future back then. And yes, this is real. We all collectively felt great about Ben Simmons future. I know false. It only played. I think what 12 games or something like that 10 games 14 games. But he had the shoulder injury. I was reading Brett Brown quotes this morning about how much better he looked in 2018 and 2019 and working on it and like, oh, there's some real confidence. What was he supposed to say? He was the interim general manager at the time. All right. So there was this Embed Simmons pairing in 2018 that felt like it was a much better opportunity than this collection that the Lakers had kind of had to piece together, likely being a roster that was not ready for LeBron. And that's exactly, I mean, it took him a little while and it took the transaction of Anthony Davis to change all this around. But the 2018 thing, you're like, man, from a basketball standpoint, like, yeah, it stays in the east. Like he goes, like, if this is what really matters, why would he go to the Lakers? They had faults. I mentioned Sarich. That's right. Sarich was a lottery pick two years in. He was part of the selling coin as well. So it comes time to take these meetings and then what happens? This contingency from
Philadelphia flies out to LA meets meet some of the rich Paul. It's the ownership group. It's Brett Brown and LeBron doesn't show You know like well Why would they be pushing out the little brawn to Philadelphia thing because that's what His group was doing like it wasn't like all of us just made it up That was being pushed as a destination and all you have to do is look at his podcast with Kellerman Which was fucking hysterical where they were mapping out 27 scenarios of of teams they could go to when they whiteboard it up I was entertained by it was entertaining even if I thought it was mostly bullshit But what we learned in 2018 is the whole Philly thing was also kind of bullshit He didn't even show up to the meeting and when I finally did a little bit more digging after the fact I'm like, why was that a Thing was like well Ben Simmons is a clutch client And at the time LeBron's group felt like keeping Philadelphia in the mix was Somehow as a service to them would somehow make them look better the perception of the Sixers would be improved because it felt like they were a real Scenario for LeBron when in fact he was never going there And I was like all of that because Ben Simmons is on the team and he's a client and he's important Like that to me is a lot of energy wasted on a scenario that was never going to happen Like did you do Philly a favor or did you get their fans hopes up? Did you waste a ton of people's time with that organization and then I was reading again the quotes this morning It was like hey, this shows that we're a first class organization This shows that we're gonna be in on any marquee free agent You know exactly what I would say if I own the team, but I'd also be like so he's not coming He's not even going to talk to us, and we're supposedly in on this Is that what's happening right now in 2026? Maxi's a clutch client Is this just this group? Somehow perceiving this is a favor to an organization and be like we'll let you We'll let you think we'll let the fans think let everybody think You know even from a planning standpoint even though like Philly's really made most of their moves already But will let you think That this is a possibility because that's what it feels like I personally think it's a waste of everybody's time They clearly do not a couple of other thoughts here the Kwai Leonard trade being frozen that happened right after we taped on Thursday There's two very different statements here Look the clipers side of it is longer, but I just wanted to touch on a couple things because I've seen it kind of Presented two different ways at least on the Toronto side. One is that Toronto was blind to this idea that this trade could be frozen I've read that There's also news out there that it said Toronto would be getting the heads up because the investigation in the Kwai Leonard Clipper situation is not complete that There could be something and therefore Toronto would be on the hook for it if they're going to want to continue to do this trade I know like everybody else. We're kind of at a point now. We're like hey, we thought there should be over I don't know if it's not over because they don't have enough and this is a simple thing of like it's a lot of hearsay where we can Golf connect the dots and go clearly something weird here happen But if you can't prove it then Nothing's going to happen, but then again if nothing's going to happen How's that going to go over the media for the NBA? How's that going to go over for the other NBA teams that are pissed off about this? I don't think a nothing is going to happen thing Happens here, but then you also understand too It's like if you think you're going to do this to us then we're going to fight back and so all of this stuff has kind of worked out Collectively, but then Toronto's sitting there going hey, we just want the player because of all of these offseason moves If we're talking about one that really moves the needle and I don't know that you're going to get 2526 Kauai again in Toronto, but if you get anything close to that and taking out bad brain and an ingram playoff Possessions, which are all of them and pair him with this Scotty Barnes version where I've never been more bullish on Scotty Barnes the Toronto Like now I look at them differently, but What happens if he's suspending? For 30 games I just wanted to make this point. Does it even matter? He didn't even play a full season when they won it all in 2019 I mean Kauai gets to do whatever he wants the funniest part about all of this Kauai stuff is that Imagine if any high profile. Well, he's obviously very high profile. How about this? Imagine if an NBA star with a high profile who actually talked Was caught up in this Kauai gets this incredible pass because he doesn't really talk to anybody We've already accepted. It's like I don't know what's going on there like there is perhaps no personality in there Whatsoever if it was another kind of like front-facing dude and this is strange to say because he's felt like the face of a couple different Franchises at different times here But we have just accepted that he's not going to play along and in a way It's benefited him massively throughout all of this because like other guys at his level would have to do the sit down with somebody at ESPN They would have to do whatever it is to kind of like open up a little bit turn the page and either apologize or lie or do whatever But they'd have to address it with Kauai We've just accepted that that's never going to happen because he's just not going to do it Which in a way I kind of admire from the guy But if he's suspended Toronto sure can go back to the Clippers and say okay We need to take back one of these picks if I'm the Clippers I would say absolutely not what are you going to do not want Kauai back in Toronto good luck with that So I don't even know how the negotiation would go but if it ends up that the news becomes well Why is he suspended which would become its own debate on whether or not we feel that that's the right thing to happen if somebody's putting it off for in front of you again I don't know if this is a It'll it'll be interesting to see what the punishment is because it'll be like I can't believe it's that little It's like yeah, but there's a big difference between what we can talk about and then what somebody can actually prove to punish one of their partners But if part of this is that they feel like the NBA's investigation feels like the Kauai was complicit in this somehow Him getting suspended for a few games Probably isn't that different from what the plan would be if you were totally clear and getting a contract Essentially from Toronto because he wasn't going to play 75 anyway One last thought on some of the stuff in this weekend the Gary Trent contract This is one of the all-time worst contracts in NBA history, but everybody knew that it was coming 64 million over four years all guarantee when I saw the headline I was like is there anyway, but what had happened as everybody knows There was some some deals that were a little below market level and There were there were other people going like I cannot wait to see what that Gary Trent number comes in at because then he had a terrible season And he got four years 64 million and if there were some sort of understanding you'd be taking care of later on which believe it or not does happen In this league Milwaukee's run of trend and look they were stuck Their guy didn't want to be there as an aside bucks Twitter. You guys can just Stay in your fucking lane of trying to tell me Dame Lillard is actually not bad on defense Telling the world that it's an ESPN Shoms creation that Yannis wants to leave and then when I laughed at the Trent contract I had like real guys on bucks Twitter trying to somehow like critique something else Is if that was like a good comeback to laughing at this contract and I'm laughing at it because I think a lot of people knew that This was going to happen, but once that major domino falls and you were sitting I think this run for the last few years of the bucks is a lesson of the next team That's like when your guy starts dipping his toe into wanting to leave Get it over with especially once you've won an NBA championship Because the domino effect of all of these deals these trades the Dame waving the money spent on Turner It'd be nice if they hit on a few more of the draft picks, but this is and again A lot of it has to do with one of my one of my if you're John Hurtslake What am I supposed to do give up like I'm trying to figure out any way to salvage is reinvented around Yannis the entire time But that's always been my biggest issue with this deal and looking at the heat package Back for it. I mean that's the other thing too. Look at all the guards that they've brought in They have Rollins they have Porter they traded for Leverte they have her hero in the trade and then it's like yeah Let's make sure we get Gary Trent 64 million guaranteed. Great. Thanks for having me. Okay. So what's it like interviewing for a head coaching job? What do you do to prepare for something like that? It depends on the one, but basically you're studying the team, studying what they played like, what you think you could do with their roster, what changes you would make. And then in some situations, you're trying to look at who was the previous head coach, and what did he do that the guy's interviewing you didn't like, and trying to make sure you don't hit on those things, but yeah, it's pretty exhaustive. Orlando is actually the most thorough interview that I had. Why is that? Nine and a half hours long. And they did the best job, Jeff and those guys did the best job of when they asked the question. They had follow up questions that were like layered. So there was more depth that you had to give in terms of what you were talking about. Hey, this is what I think about what schemes would be good offensively, and then they'd ask why and could you describe different things within it. So it was by far the most thorough of any of the ones that I did. I imagine when somebody like you, I mean coaches are prep freaks to begin with, but you start your NBA career as a video coordinator, and we just know that that is all about preparation. It's preparation for every single of the president. So I am always kind of like from a distance going, you must over prepare in a way where you're like, I want to have everything covered for every single one. You probably learn those teams in preparation for the interviews better than you've ever learned them ever going up against them in an actual game on another staff. Yeah, yeah. And then, yeah, definitely. And then sometimes after is like, why the hell did I spend all that time doing that? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So then specific to Orlando, what do you think sold them on you? Well, I thought we came into a very, you know, aligned in terms of how we saw the team just naturally, you know, I think the big thing that I looked at was how do we take what has been successful in some ways and obviously France getting hurt last year, a lot of people would point to that as to why magic potentially didn't get through that first round. But how do we take that and build upon it, trying to be specific in certain things that we feel like we can measure and improve upon. But I think just at the end of the day, you know, I wanted to go into it really prepared, thorough in terms of how I looked at the team, but try to communicate my thoughts clearly and concisely, make sure that I knew what I was talking about because clearing concise doesn't matter if you sound like an idiot. But just in general, try to make sure that I was really locked in on what I thought needed to be done and looking at the strengths and the weaknesses, not just, you know, we got to do this differently. This is a podcast that loves this Orlando roster. Okay. We are pro magic guys on this pod. I'm with you. I really like that front office, the drafting record of like we love Paulo will get to that as well. So I think there are times throughout the season of doing this pod. We do it three days a week. We do a ton of NBA where you're like, man, I'm so frustrated by Orlando. Do you, because that's because of the talent that you're walking into. So I know it can be a little delicate because, you know, the coaching world is a small fraternity. But what do you think needs to be solved with this group to to get them into position where we don't have a repeat of what happened last year? Well, you know, to me, the big things is just there's got to be an activation of all five guys a little bit more often here. So whether that's playing with more pace and getting into things quicker, being more clear in our spacing, making sure that we make the right decision. You know, I think just in general, the more that we hunt baskets and not the ball, we're going to be in better shape. And then defensively, this team a couple years ago was rock solid at the top of the league and getting back to that, I think is a big deal too. You know, like a good defense travels and, you know, if you've got a great defense, you're going to put yourself in a position regardless of the night, you know, the game at the end of the day is get more shots, get better shots than your opponent. And so if we can get to that, which I think we can, we're going to be in good shape. You know, in the past, sometimes you look at a team and say, okay, well, that's a lot of on ball. Guys, there's only one basketball, you know, whatever, there's, there's too many overlaps there. And now I feel like the game is shifted here where it's like, there's nothing better than to have four, sometimes even five guys that if they have a ball on their hands, they can escape with it. And when I think about Paulo, France, Bain, Black, you know, even named some other guys here where it's a lot of players that probably like to initiate on ball. And I, I see it as a positive, but it's almost like they have to understand that all being good on ball doesn't mean taking turns, all being good on ball means like we should just get stuck less. And I felt like it was a very turn based offense now for a couple of years. Yeah. I think, you know, one of my mentors, again, Tim Gergerich used to always say, whoever has the ball is the point guard. So if you pass the center, he's got to be a decision maker. If you pass to this guy on a throw ahead, he's got to be a decision maker. And I think that's more applicable than ever in today's game that whomever has the ball because these guys are so skilled a lot of times they can create, but once you create, you've got to make a good decision whether it's to shoot it or to pass it. And I think that's something that like you said, they can escape more. But the best teams I've had been part of coaching, we've had a lot of guys that could all go get buckets and get themselves shots. And then if there's two guys guarding them, it's passed the damn ball to your teammate. The shooting numbers have been a problem. That's why there was such an emphasis on acquiring Bane. And I think Bane was a home run last year. Like I'm sure, whether it's publicly or privately, we know we gave it the picks, who knows what they'll end up being. But like we'll do that deal all over again. Can the shooting numbers, well, I guess I'd look at it this way, how much do you think the shooting numbers suffer from guys that are average to blow out our shooters versus some of the shot selection that you've watched from this group? I mean, shot selection is always where it starts, you know, if you're not shooting a good percentage, it's either you're bad shooter, you're taking bad shots, just as a general rule. So the more we can create good looks, the better we're going to be. And I think there's definitely some room to improve there. Yeah. Yeah. I think you're being nice about it because I think they would run the clock late and it would be a lot of like, I guess I got to shoot this now. And so I'm not saying this is Golden State from Pete Golden State years from the collection of shooters that you have, but it's just as an offense that, like I said, yeah, we're sitting here. I mean, I'm sharing the frustration with you and you're like, hey, I wasn't around back then. You mentioned running. Will this group run because you would think on paper would want to run? Well, when we were in Dallas, we were a top 10 pace team. The year I was doing the offense and Luca Doncic was our point guard. So if Luca can be in the top 10 and pace, the thing just about anybody can, and obviously his skill set is the best offense player of all time or whatever they're about. But yeah, we can run, we can get the ball at the flow. We can get over by 21 on the shot clock as a general rule here. Yeah. Yeah. Because, you know, I think like there have been times the past where LeBron would be with a group. And something I talked about even the start of this podcast today. It's like, hey, you know, get out, run, get young people and it's like, well, LeBron is so good at dissecting everything that's happening that he actually wants to control the half court. That Luca number surprised me because again, it's somebody who's like, what do you want me to do? Just let me get the ball. I will figure it out. And then I'm still going to give you a great option in a tire of time. And I think Palo on ball, that's what I've loved about him so much is that you've got this massive human being that can play like a point guard. I don't think he actually wants to be, I don't think I don't look at him as somebody who's like, I just want to have the ball all the time. But I think he's so good in some of these two men mismatches that he can work himself into. I wonder if it's hard to break him of the habit of wanting to dissect what's happening in the half court instead of being like, hey, dude, you getting downhill with Anthony Black and some of these other guys, like that's where we want to start the position. If we don't have, we pull it out and then we have plenty of time to run something in the half court. Yeah. I think, you know, how you run, you know, this like, it's not just to get fast break layups, it's to give yourself more time if you don't get that, you know, everybody would love to, hey, touch the paint quick, score the basketball or touch the paint, throw it through it, open guy, swing it, shot. But when you don't have that and you need to create an advantage, you need to use whatever actions you like early in a possession to create an advantage. If you're starting it at 14 on the clock or 16 on the clock and slow moving and how there's a switch and an ISO and you only give yourself X amount of time, it gets harder. I mean, that's why you see in the playoffs and that's why with the spurs, we press every possession, take more time, start your possession later. Now you got to work against, you know, a physical as defense and we got, you know, big fellow behind us, you know, but that's why you're
trying to get into things quicker, you know, like oftentimes in the playoffs, we talk about adjustments. So what are we gonna do differently? And a lot of times that it is starting with, we have to play faster. I think get into our stuff sooner. So I think that's, you know, that's a big deal just in general. If that disconnect just, like I think that's why coaches are always frustrated because you just know like if I could get this much more effort out of you, some of our problems we fix, and then you know as a player too, it's like, yeah, I'm tired, man. I'm tired. I'm tired, and I'm not gonna be able to do this every single possession of the way you want me to be able to do it. How do you, how do you hammer that message in a way that feels satisfying? Well, I mean, you just did it though, I think it starts with, we gotta get in shape, you know. And every team has to go through some version of that. You've gotta be in shape enough to do it. But I think there's, you know, how many guys you play as part of it, you know, if you're gonna shorten the rotation, and only play, you know, a short rotation, it's gonna be harder to tell guys to run every time, it's gonna be harder to tell them to give max effort. So some of it's on us as coaches to make sure we make good decisions as to how we use our rotations, how many guys we play. But then there's a level of, you gotta teach it, you gotta emphasize it, and then sometimes you gotta demand it. What's it been like getting to know Palo? It's been good, yeah, I didn't know him, but I knew a number of people around him prior to it. You know, Miss Johnson, who I just worked for as a Seattle guy, I went to the same high school. Spencer Haas, who I coached, my man Yeehaw's, he's Seattle guy, he knew Palo. So I got a little bit of an understanding from those guys prior to it. And since getting the job, it's been really, really, really good. I wanted to see Seattle a couple of weeks ago, spend some time up there working out with him, seeing how things were going up there. So I've liked it a lot, he's a smart kid, he's serious about how he wants to be a great player and a great winner in this league. And he's in great shape in working his ass off, which is important. It feels like you've been, I don't know if it looks the right way, but different sets you've been on, like the number one guy gets it. And a lot of your stops, is that something that you think with your background, you can get through to Palo and be like, hey, maybe I'm assuming too much. You're like, hey, Franz is nasty, veins, veins nasty as well. But I guess when you know the number one overall pick and the early part of Palo's career and kind of like, all right, what's that next step going to look like for him? Do you think he's had enough seasoning in the league to understand what he is tasked with beyond just getting buckets? Well, he got no choice now. But I think, no, all those guys that you just mentioned, like there's a lot of high level players on this team that are serious about winning. And you know, as it pertains to Palo and his teammates, you know, my job is to give them organization, structure, clarity in their roles. You know, those guys are like the main characters in this movie. I'm a supporting character. And we're all essential to have a good movie made, but I've got to do a good job. And our staff has to do a good job, you know, why we brought in guys like Greg Buckner and Joe Prunty still here, DJ Baker. Like those guys, like we have to do a great job of making sure that we communicate clearly what we want them to do and then play and coach in a style that lends itself to their talents. We mentioned Star is a video coordinator. We are, I love PJ Carlisano going all the way back. He comes on, he comes on the pod all the time. Nobody's, nobody's quicker to invite you to a dinner. Give me your favorite PJ story from having to prepare something for him. And maybe it's just something else. It doesn't even have to be that. We love PJ Carlisano stories. PJ was the best because so Popeye Jones and I were on the staff Popeyes on the staff here. And we were preparing the game plan for plan the nicks. I think it was on MLK day. And we were in there all day and there was the year the nicks were good. J kid was there like they had that they were the two C they were rolling like the garden was back. All that stuff and we were preparing and so PJ makes us meet with him and we walk into the conference room and he's got 30 box scores laid out on the table. And he's like a beautiful mind and they're like highlighted and circled and we went through the game plan for like I mean no bulls like two hours. And he's telling us it won't work it won't work it won't work and finally goes all right well if it doesn't work it's your asses and then the next day he went in and sold it to the team like it was his. And so like he would do that where like you had to defend your answers all the time and if you did he'd roll with it. Do you look at it what you've done and why you stood out like you've been talked about where I think there are some teams. I think the Lakers have done a good job with this with their staff where it's almost a football matchup specific game plan where I think there's other staffs that are still even in 2026 is like hey this is who we are rolled a ball out this is kind of what we want to do. Do you think there is room to be more game to game specific with game plans with with the way the NBA goes about it. Yeah well I think as long as your system and your base level is sound you can add layers to it eat more you know more likely going game to game I think so. To me the biggest thing now is the ability to lock in on player tendencies game to game you have to be great at that you have to be able to understand who these guys are on a nightly basis. But then I do think there's room to adjust your schemes based on who you're playing that night but your foundation has to be really strong so early in the year you may not be able to do as much as you could late in the year. But yeah you've got to do that to a certain extent like you just talked about a lot of teams have numerous guys who can go get a bucket so you've got to be really sound in that. But yeah it starts with your system and your foundation then your game plans got to be rock solid and then you you have to know the tendencies and be able to execute against them. Do you think you'll ever watch that finals again. Absolutely no. I don't lose a lot of sleep over games I've lost a lot of sleep over that series yeah not fun. But thanks for bringing it up. I have more thoughts. The right answer and a simple answer would be if I asked you what happened you just go Jalen Brunson happened so I would accept that as an answer if I wanted another answer what happened. I think I think a few things one I think there's a little attrition having to go to the previous series to bad luck you know they told me if the games are like 46 minutes or whatever. We would have won for one. Jalen obviously had a monster game in that last one. You know coach him and Dallas like happy for him kind of. But like I think there's some of that and I think we just made more mistakes than we had made in the previous series and you could maybe say some youth to that but like you don't do what you did and just all of a sudden become young. The one thing I think that's a little different in the finals than the other rounds is when you have to do media in the finals you have to answer questions even when you've played poorly or struggled and you don't have to do that in the previous rounds you know those guys like all year if they have a longer media session it's because they've done something good. Like you don't have 15 minutes of answering like why didn't you make this play are you too young are you guys on the same page what do you think about coaches decision so I think that's like a different deal and can obviously contribute to it but then like you said Jalen Brunson happened is probably a good answer to. And O.J.'s ass yeah I mean O.G. I'll never like I'm already ready to apologize if I'm critical of them next year because of what I think of him now as a player you know there's like all. There were things with O.G. that I loved it's like hey this guy would fit on and it kind of team and then you're like oh is he always available then you look at the kind then it's just like okay never mind like don't worry about the little things with him because there's. He was just a monster all playoffs and a huge difference in that series and he's like elite on ball elite in different areas on defense. I mean do when he was in Toronto I think we're in Detroit he gave us 51 time I mean you know like some guys they're they're far more talented than the opportunity they get every day and you need those guys to be. Okay with that if you want to win you know like this dude's a good player who when he was called upon was ready to roll you know I mean he's impressive man he's really good. Alright so I love that you said the thing about the young thing because that tries me crazy a little bit to it's like well then if they're young they lose game seven at O.K.C. So but there did seem to be like a comfort gap there at times and maybe that's just as simple as is watching the lead go I want to throw something at you. Because it was something I picked up on and you can tell me if I'm crazy if I'm wrong because I've been wrong plenty of times but I didn't like. When Banyama's touches I thought there were long stretches where the guards got away from him and the reason I feel comfortable saying that she was that after you would have a time out some sort of break whether you call the timeout or just a break in the action and then the spurs had the ball. it seemed like there was a concerted
effort from Mitch and the staff to get to the ball handler and say, hey, look, we're going to get Wembee deeper on the catch. We're going to get something better. But like the ball has to get back to Wembe Nyama on this one. And I noticed it enough to go, okay, well, then the staff is seeing what I'm seeing and whether it's younger perimeter players having Wembee too far away and then ignoring that he could still be an option. Maybe Wembee get lined up too far away one-on-one with the ball into a crowd of all sorts of things. Did you feel like during that series that, and it's not being critical necessarily of the guards, but there were too many stretches where Wembee Nyama perhaps wasn't optimized whether it was touch or where the touch was happening? Yeah, I think there was definitely some of that. And the other thing too is like the guy doing the defense in New York, Brendan O'Connor, like he's been in the NBA a long time. He's a good coach. He knows what he's doing. So, some of it was what New York is trying to do to make it tough for him to get those touches as well. I think that's why you saw Mitch doing a good job of like, all right, here's how we can get him the ball with more space, more often, but then part of it is like as a player showing those guys and trying to help them find where can you get him the ball or when someone was missed, not just him, but just in general what the right play to make was. But yeah, I think there's some accuracy there for sure. Last one, and I promise we'll get back to it because you're like, okay, that didn't realize this is a spurs interview. I want to end up positive here. Dylan Harper from day one to Dylan Harper in the finals. What was that like being in a front row seat? Well, one, you could see how immensely talented he was when he got there or when like June into September, like even his first summer league game, like this dude wants it. You know what I mean? He's got a chance to be like a big time player. As the year went on, he did a really good job of grasping what he needed to do to be on the floor every night on a good team and like, he's got a level of pedigree to him that he's like a winning player, you know, like sometimes dudes are like, I want to be rookie of the year. I wish I was on a team that stinks. Well, his alternative was like, everybody is talking about you and June is like, this dude's the man, you know, so like when the two guys and Charlotte and Dallas are doing whatever they're doing, watching games, you're balling out on the biggest stage, like, you know, there's a sacrifice that he made, but like there's a reward individually with how well he played the opportunity he got. And that wasn't like a big thing for him. He just like, I'm good with it, you know, which is really impressive for a 19 year old or 20 year old. Whatever he is. Yeah. I look. I can't even put a ceiling on who he is. No, I can't be. And he's six, six, two, twenty. He's huge. He's a big kid, like he's big and strong already. Yeah. And there's this comfort to all of it too. And that's I think the like on top of everything you just said to be that comfortable where I'm like, hey, get it back to the rookie in the NBA finals when I'm watching you in some possessions and I go, when have you ever said that? Like, I was, I think four when magic did it in the finals. So it wasn't like I was yelling at the TV at four years old. It's just not supposed to happen. You know, and the other thing too, like you talked about in the playoffs, like a lot of times when young guys struggle, they ease up or they kind of slow up. They're not as aggressive. And like, I think that was one of the things that those guys did a great job of is like my man, PJ Tucker would say like, you got to be more fearless. You got to be more aggressive. Like you can't go, you got to go harder. You got like, you can't ease up. You got to get your stuff right. You got to make sure you're prepared. You got to execute upon what you're asked to do. But he embodied like, you don't slow up now. Now's the time to get going. And I think that's part of the reason why you see that success for a young guy like there was no easing off the gas because I'm not sure what to do. Two quick things we finish here. If there's one thing, like one thing that you feel like you need to hammer this group in Orlando on just like at our core, we have to be this. What is it? Team. Team. We've got to be big time in all the team aspects. There's a lot of invisible plays that have to be made. And I think just in general for our group, you know, like the measure of greatness and a team sport is what you do to elevate your teammates. This is a team game. And it doesn't mean that you can't have big time individual success, but team is where this starts. Head coach now work the officials a little bit here. Have you thought about, because sometimes an assistant is like, I can get away with anything here sort of. And then maybe they'll tell us to go back. Have you thought about your demeanor, how much you're going to work the officials? Because it's going to be, it's you now on the sideline. Yeah. I remember you're asking Will Hardy about this. It was like to take you a few games to realize that you could get more mad at the officials. He was like, yeah, it was kind of funny. I was like, oh, maybe I'll start getting on these guys a little bit. Oh, if you thought about like, I want to be like this, although you probably can't decide to be any other way than you actually are. Yeah, I mean, I haven't put a whole lot of thought into it. But I remember during one of the COVID seasons when I had the feeling for J.K. and Marquis Chris was like going after an official when we had Marquis Chris on our team. And I looked at him and I said, Marquis, this guy doesn't respect me at all. How the hell do you think he's going to respect you? Play the game. And I forget who it was. The ref, like to me, he's like, you're right. I don't. So, all right, I'm going to just worry about my team and then we'll talk to you guys as we see necessary, but what an unnecessary added piece of commentary from that official. But I almost feel like I can guess who that would be. But I love that we got to, I love that we got to Marquis Chris shout in there because I loved him in the draft and then at a great kid, he got injured for us that he was doing a good job. But yeah, we, that was the year we went to the Western finals and lost to a Golden State. But yeah, I was like, yeah, let's just play here like we can just go get a rebound. And then maybe this weekend, one of the sadder things I've seen in pro sports. So up and down, Evan Flow, here we are. It was a great card. And then the main event happened. So let's just dig into it right there. Connor goes with the flying lead kick, which we actually saw him practicing backstage. It was clearly was like, I'm going to come out and try to do something here. Holloway's all over it. And then as soon as he lands, the knee, everybody's kind of like, why is he falling down? Like what's going on here? So take us through your vantage point of everything that was happening. Well, there's a lot of speculation as to whether or not there was a preexisting injury for Conor McGregor. That does not appear to be the case. I think he just put a lot of pressure on that knee with what Joe Rogan would probably describe as a wayward decision to throw a switch roundhouse kick right out of the shoot. But Conor thought he could execute it and he couldn't and obviously he paid the ultimate price. The type of decisions has he made over the last five years that maybe didn't put his body in an optimal position to compete at mixed martial arts after a layoff like this. I don't know, right? But fair. I think that's fair. Bro, five years off. I don't know that he's been the picture of fitness every piece of footage that we've seen. But go ahead. Right. And you know, he has a titanium rod in one leg. And I was wondering aloud, did he put in 16 weeks of hell to have a crazy cardiovascular base for a 25 minute fighter? We see maybe looking at this as an eight or 10 minute affair to go in there, try to get the job done as he often does quickly and get out of there. You know, one thing I said on the broadcast, Max Holloway has more title fight time than any fighter in UFC history, almost nine hours in championship fights in that fucking octagon for Max Holloway. Nine hours. Nine hours. Just title fights. Just title. You're the best. That's such an incredible stat. Well, is that not an advantage? Right? So anyone who's like, oh, man, I bet on Connor. I don't know what to tell you intellectually, right? I mean, I don't know how I mean, look, I think all of us, I've been lucky enough to be in that building for a counter fight. And when you're in Vegas, and it's just lined with Irish lads already arrested and cost in the hallways.
you know, that fight that I went to 10 years ago, I'm like, it is still one of the greatest events that I've ever experienced, but it was Pete Conner. So I think anybody that loves this sport, you're always enamored with the idea of him, right? Even though it just, this is not what happens. You don't get to take five years off, and I don't know that he was in fight mode the entire time when you're older fighting sucks. And so I'm like everybody else going like, is there any chances or any chance, but I don't know that any sane person is thinking like he has set himself up for a really competitive. And look, the credit to him is that he's like, all right, I'll take on Max. Like, I'll go at Max, you're like, this is brutal. And so even with all of that, I didn't really necessarily like his chances. And you know, look, I said, I don't want to get ahead of ourselves here and say like, Max is like, hey, we need to run it back, which I thought was respectful. That was the least approved statement I've ever heard. Like, yeah, no one in the building was like, yeah, dude, let's do it. Let's run it back, just silence. Well, I think it's hard, right? It's hard for us as commentators to come up with the proper words. And I think for Max, you know, he comes over to the booth and sort of gives me one of these hands in the air. And I don't really know how to respond to Max even physically in that moment. You know, there's so much to unpack here. Conor McGregor could have asked Dana White and Hunter Campbell for Michael Chandler, a fight that a lot of us felt as though the ship had sailed on, but it would have been a more winnable fight. At least on paper, Conor McGregor might have been a two to one favorite against Michael Chandler. But if he still tried this move, he could have gone injured. And this would have been even more disastrous. But I agree with you right to fight Max Holloway, who's been in it the entire time. Max has been at the top championship training camp one after the other, the entire time that Conor's been doing, whatever he has been doing. Now, the optimist in me would actually submit to you that if this is a meniscus, and even if it is an ACL, that Conor could come back for one. And certainly if Nate Diaz was the opposition, that's a competitive fight that maybe Conor would be favored in. But what exactly is the goal here? And what are Conor McGregor's goals? I think he was back for the right reasons. I think he's found sobriety, I think he's clean. But I just, I don't know exactly what we're trying to do here. And if this is a torn ACL, you know, maybe this is the final nail in the coffin. And what a disappointing conclusion it would be. So you are 100% on board with like, that this was not a preexisting condition. Well, I mean, I'd like to give the athlete and the head coach the benefit of the doubt. I can lean into his warm up in the back that look pretty good. I can certainly look at the visual that we showed, not for speculative purposes on the broadcast and see him in the inspection zone. And it's not a great visual. You know, when I saw him at the ceremony, you'll weigh in putting his sneakers on. And you can tell Conor's been out of the game because we don't even take our fucking pants off anymore when we weigh in. That's ceremonial. You've already weighed in in the morning, right? Most of the athletes don't even derob like that, but he's so out of practice, he takes his pants off, then goes to put his sneakers back on. And I'm thinking he's putting his sneakers back on for the stare down, but you know, maybe he's doing that because of an injury. I don't think it was preexisting. I just think, hey man, like I went for a run in Vegas when I was out there and I was really sore. So the next day I stretched and I hurt my shoulder stretching. Now I'm 10 years older than him, but you know, when you get older, it doesn't get easier. And in this sport, it's absolutely ruthless. - Yeah, look, that part of it makes sense. I think everybody wants everything to have like another layer of conspiracy no matter what, which is also why there's so many times or something sketchy may be happening. And I'm just so desensitized to the audience going, it can't just be disappointing, right? It can't just be disappointing. The angle, the torque that he's putting on that knee with that move, I think you've made a great point there that maybe he was just like, this isn't going 25 minutes. So like I'm coming out like a madman and Connor, like it's always up for the fight too, which you know, you have to throughout his career be like this guy is ready for it. He isn't just one of Dana's all-time favorites because of the money side of it. He's one of Dana's favorites because we've had Dana on in the past with Dana's like, hey, that guy is ready to go. Like of all the managing that goes into all of these egos and guys going like, I wanna be a badass, but I'd kinda like to have my own path to badassism. Yeah. You know, like Connor has never really been one of those guys that is looking to avoid anything. And so, look, you've been around the sport for such a long time far closer than I ever have, but if there's one constant is that old fighters don't really stop. So we could sit here and say that there's no market form because of this. I just don't think that'll be true. Yeah, he's not going to stop. He's not going to stop. All right, so go ahead. Go fight on Netflix at some point in time. Ready has one fight left on his UFC contract. He'll be in big fights and maybe there would be a boxing match down the line with Floyd Mayweather. I'm certainly not expected nor hopeful that we're going to see any of that noise. I still want to see if he can compete in mixed martial arts at a somewhat high level. I do believe that if you look at the top 25 in the Welterweight division, for example, maybe you could find a fight there for him, you know? But yeah, I believe that he has it within him. His competitive spirit is such that he's going to be back the only visual that really gave me pause in terms of conspiracy theorists out there, speculation. And I'm sure you would agree with this. When he hit the tunnel and went through his usual walk out in the motions, he didn't have that usual look in his eye. He wasn't smiling, looking like he's on the fringe of just lunaticism. And even when he did the billionaire strut in the octagon, he didn't have that usual look in his eye. Now that could be because it's been a long time, that could be because he wasn't necessarily bloody with confidence in the matchup or it could be because he got injured either in the back or during training camp, who knows? But for people to lean all the way into the fact that he went to a fucking healing center in California and say, oh, he must have been injured, right? You know, there were a lot of people who felt like Beton on Max Holloway was an all-time great investment whether Connor was injured or not. So. - If you were a writer, you could talk about Connor passing the public baton to patty the batty, in this moment, and maybe there's too many similarities, you know, size, there's some personality similarities there that you can get into it. And patty after the gate she fight, like it was a loss, but I think collectively everybody felt better about patty after that fight. And for him to go in and kind of recapture his momentum side by side with Connor, like that felt like maybe, like again, if I were right, I don't even know if it's real or not, but I would be writing to that idea that this Connor thing is now totally over, but it isn't from a fighting standpoint, but the hopefulness that you have about a Connor moment to then patty kind of recapturing the imagination of everyone in there that seemed to be so behind him and how dominant he was with that early choke. - I love the way you tied that together. Patty Pimblitz, the man, he could have come to the UFC when he was 21, he could have come when he was 23 years of age, but he, and this is a direct quote, wanted to be a proper athlete when he got here. And I think because of his persona and his ability to orate and captivate the masses by just being himself and being, you know, comedically great, you know, people lose sight of the martial artist and just how good a grappler he is, right? There's so many guys who don't know their way around a submission and he has tons of them and just submitted maybe the most hardened guy in the division and choked him unconscious. So I love the total package. He, I think, was a superstar before Saturday night, but this is gonna take it just to an entirely different level. And for him, I think it's really just about the championship. And if he can get the championship in a room or otherwise, right then you're talking about a kid who can defend his title in Liverpool. And then you really are talking about global superstardom. So it was a huge night for Patty. He's a great human being. And yeah, he's gone about a lot of things the right way, but it's been a huge year for him learning lesson against Gachi and to do what he did with that showcase, with that many eyeballs on him. He's the man, dude. He's got a lot of support from not just the fans, but me and a lot of people on the staff as well. - Is it weird when they wanna come over and celebrate with you? 'Cause there's no other sport like that, really. - Yeah, so it's interesting because I'm a promoter and not a journalist, right? And my biggest initiative is try to promote these athletes, humanize them, make people at home care. And it's always interesting when people say, and I always quote Rick Patino, you know Larry Burzani, I walkin' through that door, Kim McHale's not walkin' through that door, right? They say, oh, you got no Conor Israel out of Sonny's on the way out John Jones. And then Lex Poeton-Peteta walks through the door and becomes the biggest superstar in UFC history. Or Ilya Topurri becomes a massive star, right? There's always another star. But yeah, it's unique, right? Like maybe the greatest moment of my career was when Amanda Nunez retired and came and kiss me on the forehead, right? That's maybe the best thing that's ever happened to me, 'cause she's the consensus greatest of all time. And it was just, I think, an appreciation for us promoting her and doing right by her. And, but yeah, it is unique. There's no rooting interest. I've had to call, I think, five or six of Daniel Kormie Ace fights before he retired. So, long past sort of having to check the friendship at the door, but certainly I have a far closer personal relationship with Patty Pimple at them, Ben Wassant and A. So yeah, we're gonna stick out. We want the high five, you know? Rogan says we're professional fans. I think that's really what we are. I was not critical of it. I actually just think it's, I think it's cool. I think it's a smaller family. Yeah, it is. Part of this road show. And honestly, like, you guys are so good on the call that, yeah. I don't even know that it was even brought up as a thing. I just thought it was an incredible camera angle 'cause in the middle of you calling out the moment, the emotion of that moment,

I was just telling him, those first two summer leagues, I was basically just acting like I was in Vegas and Tate was kind of leading me around and Tate, like, you know, basketball guy. He's a relationship guy. And I'd heard Sean Sweeney's name for a lot of my career, I guess, because Tate's known him forever. And every once in a while, Tate will just like pull up to someone, you know what? It's like in the win when you're just moving around in there. You run into guys. Yeah. And he was, I think, one of the guys that I was with, but again, I was just sort of super unprofessional in Vegas the first year or two. We'll keep moving And good to hear all the good news all right back to the email my wife and I live in a major east coast city Have a 10-month-old rather than travel further to our pre-baby destinations We joined one of the beach clubs in hour outside of the city I'm a partner to boutique law firm my wife is a financial analyst So we're solidly upper middle class for our area as such the beach club is in totally our scene Because these places seem to be a bit of a time warp where Murray and Gertie Have been going for over 40 years Shout out to them And they have theme parties each week where people do things like where a large team who Uncle Sam hats Anyway, there's a pretty decent pool and a pretty decent beach I've debated about joining a country club. I just don't know that I'm gonna be great at those events So I don't know I've noticed that a lot of people like you don't have to you don't have to you don't have to get a sear sucker for our It's like maybe I should get a sear sucker. Anyway, um pretty decent pool pretty decent beach And the teenagers who work there make everything entirely convenient fitting our new parents lifestyle as acknowledged
Lopers into this slightly odd and amusing subculture, we have been on our best behavior by, say, tipping generously, being friendly to anyone who wants to talk to us today, though, I apparently stepped out of line and retribution was swift. Over the years, adult swim has taken on many meanings in many contexts, but today I'd like to talk about an actual OG adult swim from 1030 AM to 11 AM and 230 PM to 3 PM, adult swim takes place at our beach club. All the kids sadly leave the pool, except for the few bold ones who force the life guards to kick them out and Octogenarians who come out of the woodwork and then stand around, oh, Octogenarians, sorry, Octogenarians come out of the woodwork and stand around, convincing with each other for what seems like the best half hour of their day. Anyway, it's the highlight for sure. It's the highlight. Yeah. So it sounds like we're going to have a good old adult swim rule face off thing. All right, it's a couple more paragraphs. Anyway, right before the afternoon session of adult swim today, it was my turn to watch our 10 month old for a bit. I hit the pool. My dude's in a great mood. We're gently baby splashing off to the side all by ourselves. Adult swim starts. I don't think much of it because surely no one's going to take offense to a dad playing with obviously happy baby off to the side of the pool. That's where I was wrong about five minutes into adult swim. The friendly, overly brawn 16 year old lifeguard comes up and he says, sir, I'm sorry, this isn't coming for me, but there have been complaints about you being in the pool with your son. Not being one to across the majors on their summer jobs. I just say, okay, and start getting out of the pool. However, as I'm walking up the steps and my back is literally burned, a few of the regulars take the opportunity to heckle me in my infant son, weakly wheezing out a few admonishments like he isn't an adult. They call it adult swim. Now, I'm not a bad person, but I'm not an actual good to turn the other cheek type of person either. Still, I say nothing back and proceed to walk to my wife. As I'm explaining to her, what just transpired an idea. Don's on me. The old time was decided to focus on the adult part of the swim, but I could very easily just focus on the swim part of the adult swim. My wife is essentially my morality barometer. And when I tell her my plan, she mostly just smiles musically. So I've got a green light. Now I didn't go full on Michael Phelps on the circle of cabitzing murries, but I made it clear to them through my actions. When I got back to the pool, that about 15% of the pool was now my swimming lane for the rest of adult swim. And they were now going to have to confine themselves to the other 85%. There was some grumbling and a bit of testing my will by a few of the murries, but they back down and after I swam by them at full speed a few times. So if you're a consideration, two sets of questions. First, adult swim. Should it be black and white? Vow shall not participate until you're old enough to join the army type of thing. And on a nerve circumstances, do any not adults belong to the pool? Or are there potential case by case exceptions, like a dad watching his happy, quiet infant off to the side to preserve mom sanity, assuming of the baby started misbehaving. I'm socially cognizant enough to leave the pool on my own. Second, response to infant heckling, which I'm going to go out of limb and assume you'll all come down against did my retribution of taking up 15% of the pool during the chair's adult swim fit the crime. I'll just say this part, I mean, a off to about your wrong. It's one of these people get two 30 minute windows where they feel like they've taken back something like whether it's stupid or not, like whatever. I'm resigned to that. And when people start talking about like, yeah, I know what the rule is, but my kid just wants to do this. I kind of become out. I don't have a kid. I understand the, you know, you want to give your kids everything you didn't have and even more and you want it to be happy kids. But as soon as we start talking about skirting around the explicit rules because my kid just wants to do this, I think that's nothing against the kid. There shouldn't be any infant heckling going on, but you've lost me. And I think you've lost the plot once you're like, yeah, but my kid, like I understand, but you're wrong. That's all I say. Right. It's kind of like the the Chipotle thing, right? Like one person, like you start making excuses for things and, you know, all right, then like I'll next thing, you know, like 10 babies are in the pool. And then it's like, hey, just there's like a kid section of the pool. And if I'm a, yeah, like if I'm an older adult and I get to enjoy this guy, I was like, one hour of the day to myself, if kids not cannonball, like I remember. So like, we had a, we were, we, I think was high school, middle school high school, we belonged to a to a pool club in town growing up, shout out to Mountain Growth. And that as a kid, like that was the end of the world. It was like, that's those 30-minute windows were like brutal, like such a dog. You'll be fine. And you're just like, how could this possibly be a thing? And then like you're an adult, you're like, oh, yeah, because like, you know, if I belong to this thing, like I just want a little bit of peace and quiet, just like not have like, pool noodles being thrown at me or what God knows what from these kids. So, yeah, it sucks, but like it kind of has to exist. The rule is fair. And yeah, I'm not into like heckling kids, but you are wrong here. This is, this is like you couldn't just, this is also a pool and a beach club. You couldn't like go to the beach part of the, like there's got to be something else, some other place, body of water situation. There's not a kiddie pool that you could have taken your baby to. Like you have to be in the main pool for this. Like I just, maybe there isn't. And I'm just, you know, you know, that was your only option. But yeah, like this is an L. It's, I mean, these people move states to communities where they don't even let middle-aged people in. And so if they want 30, they want the 30 minutes a lot to them without children, whatever. It's, it is what it is. I mean, I almost get, like I almost treat it like kids again. It's like just let them have the thing. It's fine, you know? So yeah, I think you're wrong. You would say things like to preserve my wife's sanity, I'm just going to stay in during adult swim. It's like you're, you're schluffing your problems off on to other people's when there's rules about it. And I'm listening. I want to be on your side of hope you continue to listen. But I just, I think your perspective's a little off. When it comes to old people, you got to use maybe kid gloves. Yeah. Yeah, I think you guys are right. I mean, there's, there's two windows here. Um, I, we're, like, to be on the email to side, like them heckling you, but you got to understand, like, you're new here. Somebody's tried to pull this move probably every week of every summer for like 60 years that these other people been going there. All right. So they have no, no patients whatsoever for like new guy going, I'm sure this is fine. And yes, is your kid doing anything? No. Does it mean their anti-baby? No. But it's pretty defined. 10, 30 to 11. 230 to three. All those other minutes are yours. All those other minutes you can do whatever you want. And if you've ever been to like anything that's resembling a community pool to even a high-end country club, where then kids are allowed in on the social membership, like through the family, like people that join a golf course, but they only do it for the social membership just so their kids can go fucking wild and order a thousand wraps on their member number. I think that's not relaxing. It's it isn't. So I think you have to look at them and go, all right, so fine. The kid is under a year. Then what? Two, you know, it's like, okay, it's okay for adults and then babies under one. Like you just can't even look to. Yeah. Yeah, right. You're breaking up the yard check. Your argument is this kid is not disrupting anything that they're doing. It's not about you. It's not about your baby. It's a fight against the progression of what is the point of us having adult swim time. And now you're you've also pissed them off even further with the 50% lap pool thing. I mean, maybe you're not looking to make friends. I told you understand that, but you know, I imagine you're going to be getting some looks now, even beyond that. Yeah, the catty shacks. Catty's welcome. One to one 15. I mean, these people, you got to think like this is like a small part of your day. Like these people are already talking about tomorrow's adult swim today. Like this is important to them. And it's like really, when they just have less, when you don't work, you have much less going on. And the little things become so much more important. And I think a little bit of grace is involved in this. I will say, I think there is a part of the old, the old crew. What are they? The Octilians? What do you call them? I don't even know. Octogenarians. Sure. I love that. I think there's a part of them that also love that you did this so they can like just discipline someone. They actually, they actually like this. But just be like, if you guys talk and you say you talk about things, he's a cool guy. Clearly you guys have some sort of relationship. You're like, Hey, man, I'm trying to get into the cologne game. Like what's your, what's yours? You smell good. Like what's going on? Like it doesn't have to be like awkward. I don't know. Like it's, I was wondering if I could smell your neck a little closer to confirm that I like the way you smell. Yeah, like start like stealing pieces of clothes and try to figure it out. I just say, I don't, I just ask. Or so the, the emailer is funny. So this guy has like a good way about it. You have to do. Yeah. And if this guy's got some like exploratory by radio hybrid thing where it's like, Hey, actually, because I will argue that I think some of the more feminine stuff smells better on men. Just because of the pheromones and the way it works. That was my pivot late in the game where it's like, you don't have to smell like Vietnam. You can, you know, you can, you can take the tobacco aspect out of it. Yeah, you can spray something on a sample and be like, this smells a little flowery, a little bouquetish.
