29m 46s
The show presents a satirical, trivia-driven exploration of Hollywood's most controversial films, focusing on offensive depictions, real-world backlash, and cultural sensitivities. It covers key examples such as white actors portraying Genghis Khan, the real-life hostage crisis over *The Last Temptation of Christ*, and the use of Blackface in *Tropic Thunder*. The film *Roar* is highlighted for its dangerous animal scenes and unintended influence on *The Exorcist*, while *Breakfast at Tiffany’s* and *Team America* are noted for stereotypical and politically charged content. The discussion also includes the backlash against *Apocalypse Now* and the use of offensive imagery in films like *The Last Temptation of Christ*, which led to violence in 1988. A recurring joke centers on Michael Knowles’ controversial final role involving a Native American headdress. The host, Ben, emphasizes the Daily Wire’s brand of action-packed, provocative cinema, culminating in a promotion of their new film *Run Hyde Fight Infidels*. Through humor and irony, the segment critiques Hollywood’s history of cultural insensitivity while celebrating the satire and boldness of its own content.
Okay, fellas. Since Hollywood can't do anything right anymore, we did their job for them. The Daily Wire's newest movie is an ode to the great funny action films of the 80s and 90s, good guys win, bad guys lose. No one apologizes for it. Check out Run Hyde Fight Infidels now streaming only on the Daily Wire. Which actors final role famously involved wearing a Native American headdress, mocking indigenous culture and heritage in a raunchy, politically incorrect comedy, Michael Knowles, or D all the above? I forgot I did that movie. I think we have a photo of it. It's like, wow, do we? Wait, what do you call my final acting role? I'm leaving you in the dust, and I'm going to go work for Dallas. Run Hyde Fight Infidels is out now and so is the weeping and gnashing of teeth from liberal reviewers. Given the current discussion dominating social media, we've brought together two men who are no strangers to controversy to discuss the most controversial movies in Hollywood history. In one corner, the man responsible for P-T-N-D, post-traumatic Nick Disorder after what happened to Deputy Nick in Bone Tomahawk, Dallas-Sonyang, and in the other Michael Knowles, who once called a self-describe retarded girl Swedish. This is Face Off Controversal Movies. Thanks for having me on my own show, Ben. It's always nice to be here with me, and it's wonderful to be joined on screen by the greatest living maestro of on-screen violence Dallas-Sonyang. I know we're a little crunched for time here because Dallas, you got the movie coming out right now, and then you're already on set for the next movie, is that right? It's great. We're rolling them out and knocking them down. It is awesome. We're already on the next crazy movie that only Daily Wire could make, and I can't wait for people to see it. So now, of all the film projects you've done for Daily Wire since you've been here going back like six years now, I can't help but notice that not even one time have I had a cameo getting disemboweled by so I know, but that's okay. I'm not complaining. It's your fault. You keep passing. Yeah, I regret it. All right, maybe the next one. I want to get beheaded or something like that. Okay. We would love to have you in a Daily Wire movie. All kidding aside, like we're going to get serious. You have to get put your acting hat back on and get back in the game. I'm almost, I'm almost dusky enough to have played a jihadi in the last one, but I'll look at the scripts for the movies coming up. Ben, what is the topic? That is such a miss. You with a beard like a terrace, what if it's not even all the publicity we needed. Oh my gosh, that'd be great. Well, we are going to cover the most controversial movies, which actually you doing the beard thing might have actually made the list, but these are some of the best ones from history. Gentlemen, are you ready? I'm ready. All right. In the film The Conqueror, which white American actor was infamously cast as Genghis Khan, was it A. Marlon Brando, B. Clint Eastwood, C. John Wayne, or D. Kirk Douglas. Say him again. Marlon Brando, Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, Kurt Douglas. Who played Genghis Khan? All right, what do you got, Michael? I just choose to believe it was Marlon Brando, but I don't don't. Look at that. Great. That's awesome. I love that area. Let's show it. We got your man, John Wayne. Look at that. If you're ever in Fort Worth, you have to go to the John Wayne experience. It is the best museum I've ever been to. That is great. What was the one that Lawrence Olivier, didn't he play some crazy Arab or something? The mad moddy. Was that, was that, I think I was Lawrence Olivier, right? Yeah, yeah. Well, it's not getting too many because they might pop up. They might pop up. Okay. All right. Dows and the lead. Number two, which 1976 film about the birth of Islam became the subject of a real-life hostage crisis when Hanathi Muslim gunman seized buildings in Washington, DC and demanded that the movie be withdrawn from theaters. Was the movie A, Lawrence of Arabia, B, the message, C, Lion in the Desert or D, the last temptation of Christ. You don't hear about this one. I feel like it was kind of memory-hold, but this happened, but it definitely did multiple buildings in Washington, DC. Say, it's B, the message. What do you got? Yes. Correct. It is B, the message. The thing is, I know that Dallas is going to get them all right. So if I, if I have the same answer as him, I know that I, I got it right. That's why I have you guys brought them down beforehand. Yeah, okay. All right. Actually, the filmmakers deliberately avoided depicting the prophet Muhammad on screen that producer Mustafa Akad even offered to destroy the film if the gunman watched it, but the gunman still found it offensive. Why do you call him the prophet Muhammad? Are you a Muslim now? He's not a prophet. I call him the prophet Muhammad. You know, I can't spell at all, or read off prompters very well. So I just put it through to correct it. And that's just what I corrected. I didn't even notice it corrected. Wow. Dude, man, Groc is gone native. That's crazy. All right. All right. Number three, despite playing an Australian actor who used Blackface to portray a Black soldier, Robert Downey Jr. received which recognition for Tropic Thunder? Was it A, an Academy Award nomination, B, a Golden Globe nomination, C, a Screen Actors Guild nomination, or D, all the above? Oh. I say sag. I think it was C. The correct answer is D. All of these are awesome. That's so great. We used to have fun. You know, things didn't use to be so crazy. I was torn because Sag is the most lib group of all of those, but I thought there was no way the Academy would reward him for that, but they did. Well, this was this was right as Barack Obama was ruining comedy and rock and roll and Saturday night live and the whole world. Yeah. Yes. Before I did the destruction was complete. Yeah. Okay. It's I didn't realize I knew there was some award, which why I was looking it up and it was all of them. It is crazy that you've done a role like that just like 15 years ago. It was totally fine. Insane. Actually, I would do you want to mention this too. The Academy Award, he got beaten out by Heath Ledger. This was the posthumous award that he won for the dark night. So Robert Daryl, Jr. May have won the Oscar that year. Yeah. He got robbed. Yeah. Heath Ledger was good in that movie, but Robert Dany Jr. got robbed. That's outrageous. Number four, which movie used more than 100 largely untrained lions, tigers, leopards, and other big cats resulting in injuries to dozens of cast and crew members. This as well. Is it a the ghost and the darkness, b the island of Dr. Marrow, c roar, d born free. I've only ever heard of one of those movies. All right. What do you got Michael? I said, I said b because it's only one I'd ever heard of. See, the correct answer is roar. Hey, Dallas is absolutely destroying this game. I never had an injury from an animal on set, Dallas. Well, yes. Many times. Peter is my biggest fan. But usually, usually it's us, you know, like we, we, you know, we in the first run, fight movie, we shot a deer on screen. We hired a hunter and did it ethically and everything like that. And it was, it was the way it should be. Did you like use the meat and like make moccasins out of the skin? Oh, yeah. We ate the meat and then we gave all the rest of the meat to a food bank and they loved it. That's right. It's actually. Yeah. What's the objection to that? I don't. Yeah. Okay. That's awesome because the liberal because the liberal suck. Yeah. That's it. That's it. They don't want to hate us for our freedom. Now, thinking back, I was like, that scene was really realistic. And now that totally makes sense. That's, that's an incredible way to do. That's great. No CG ideas on a Dallas movie. No. Fun fact, the movie was later promoted with using the tagline quote, no animals were harmed in the making of this film. 70 cast and crew members were. Well, the crazy thing about roar is the guy who filmed it ended up getting the rights to the exorcist. So, and he, and he went and was the catalyst to getting the exorcist made. So without roar, there's no exorcist. Also, Tippi Hedren and Melanie Griffith are in that movie, which is bizarre. So, roar is a wild one. Wow. And Melanie Griffith has no relation to Merve Griffin. I don't think so. Yeah. Okay. I just wanted to, I know we're doing trivia and Dallas is destroying me. So I just wanted to throw that one out. Anyway, then what's the next question? All right. Number five, Mickey Rooney, war make-up, taped black eyelids, and a prosthetic mouthpiece to play the Japanese landlord, Mr. Yanoshi, in which movie? Is it A, the pink pamphler, B, breakfast at Tiffany's, C, the T-house of the August Moon, or D, Sionara? I know Dallas knows this. Go ahead. I've seen like five movies in my life. Oh, what Dallas? What is it? Breakfast at TIFF, Mike, what do you got? Don't, don't you do it, - No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
I see where they were kind of offended by this one. - Yeah, wow, Mickey Rooney. - Very versatile. - I was looking at reviews of it as well, and there was a lot of people, 'cause it's kind of an iconic feminist role movie, and a lot of the liberal people like look, we can't support this movie anymore, because of Mr. Ginochet. It's just too offensive. They gotta redo it or something. It was great. All right, number six, which controversial film featuring the Cluclux clan was screened at the White House during President Woodrow Wilson's administration? Is it A, Gone With The Wind, B, Birth of a Nation, C, The Jazz Singer, D, The Great Dictator? - Now you're talking about movies, I know. - I know, you know, there are only like five movies that I watch and repeat all the time for my whole life, so anyway, I think it'd be. - Hey, you guys both got it, great job guys. I was a layup, just knock it out. All right, number seven, Christopher Nolan was pilloried by some left-wing critics for creating what they called a quote, "fascist film" that defended the 1% portraying popular uprisings as inevitable distinctions into terror and endorsed a strong man who restores order. Which film was it? Was it A, Batman Begins? B, The Prestige? C, The Dark Knight? D, The Dark Knight, Rises. - Ooh. This is another one of Michael's favorite fascist films. - Yeah. - I think it was Batman and Robin, where George Clooney had the nipples, do you remember that one? - Yeah. - Yeah. - That was the one that Father Mike Schmitz auditioned for, right? - Oh yeah, he was up for Robin in that movie. Father Mike Schmitz, biggest five-caster in the world. Catholic priest, he was up for-- - Oh, yeah, that's weird. - That's awesome. - Yeah. - That's weird. What do you got, Michael? - I said, it's-- - I'll make sure to cast him, I'll make sure to cast him in a daily war movie before you. - That'd be awesome. - All right, see, Michael you had see? - Yes. - The correct answer is D, The Dark Knight, Rises. It's a third one. - Oh. - They all blend together in one mind. - Wow. - Yeah, I don't remember it. I don't even remember the plot of The Dark Knight. I just remember it was pretty good. It was great. I actually, I was in LA and they had a special three I max back-to-back showing of The Dark Knight Trilogy and Christopher Nolan showed up to it. It was only like a $60 tickets 'cause it sold out in like five minutes. And it was all, it was 10 hours straight through. It was sick. It's so much fun. - Wow. - Wow. - Yeah. All right, number eight. What happened to Margaret Hamilton while filming The Wicked Witch's fiery disappearance in the Wizard of Oz? A, she broke both legs. B, suffered serious burns. C, she was temporarily blinded. D, she was hospitalized for smoke inhalation. One of these horrible things happened to her while filming that last thing. - I actually know the answer to this one. I remember watching, they used to air it as a kid like on network TV once a year and then they'd have all these later views with the surviving oomphal oomphas or whatever. And I actually remember this little thing. - Okay. - Yeah. - What you got? - It's B, she was burned. - B, correct, she was burned. - Yeah. - It was like the power tactics went off. The door didn't open so she was stuck there. She was a trap door and so yeah. It's pretty wild. It's crazy this stuff that happens on set. - I heard it, there was, the way the burns hit, I'm not, this isn't even a joke. I heard that there was a chance her skin would remain green or something like that. That it was actually the makeup was part of the problem. - I don't know if that's true. - You know, according to the Hollywood Reporter, we killed two people on run-ide fight infidels. - Yeah. - That's what she said. - Because Jonathan Major's like spent his toe or something. - They fell out of a window this high and landed on some dirt. - R-I-T. - Yeah, the headline, Jonathan Major's falls out of a window. But it's like, they don't, do you guys know how movies are made? Like it's not like you're on that 20th floor, you know. - Crazy. - So dumb. - That was great. We used it in our branding. - Yeah. - By the way, if you haven't seen run-ide fight infidels, you need to watch it now, but you can't watch it before I have you watch this trailer for it. - Every significant movement in history has started with protesting. - No, of course. - Uncle Tom. - This is our generation civil rights. - I have no idea what the protest is about. - Bingo, given the current climb, should have figured as polarizing as place Saunders even be allowed on campus. - Okay, hear me okay. - Saunders is a close personal friend of Chancellor Freeman. - This is a decision I cannot find. - Islam will conquer the West. - Sao Monaco. - Are we paying attention? - They've taken over the building, they're downstairs and they've blocked the doors. - I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty. - We cannot run and hide. - Muhammad is the messenger of God. There is no God but Allah. - What do you say? - We turn those vessel bees into a fine red mist. - As we move, one man will cover while the other guys go. - They call that leapfrog. - Stretch your mouth and listen. - You need a course in safe weapons handling. All right, dailywire.com/subscribe, go do it, go watch it right now, watch it, get it, do it, subscribe. - All right, can we get a score check? - I think I'm winning. - Seven Dallas four Michael, Michael, there's still time to come back. - Okay, here we go. - All right, a Paris movie theater was attacked with Molotov cocktails by Catholic traditionalists in 1988 while showing which controversy you'll film. Was it A, the exorcist, B, the last temptation of Christ, C, the Da Vinci code, D, the passion of the Christ. In, we'd just say 1978. It was in 1988, 88. - That's the answer. - The Da Vinci code, I think it was the Da Vinci code, right? In 1988, what's that? - We'll find out. - Is it B? - Yeah. - The correct answer is B, the last temptation of Christ. - You know, I've never seen it. And don't intend to. - Do you know who played Jesus in it? - No. - Overrated. (laughing) - I think it was Martin Scorsese and William DeFoe played Jesus, right? - Ah, that's right. - I've never seen it. - I just tell you, it's amazing in it. - And William DeFoe's amazing in it, but the movie is real. - Yeah, those are both great actors. - Apparently 13 people were injured, including four who were severely burned. - In the last temptation of Christ. - And then no, in the theater, they Molotov cocktail. - Oh, okay. Well, in either way, God is not mocked. So, you know, deal with it. - Not just the Muslims who get a little ornery sometimes. - There you go. - All right, number 10. Before Disney's live-action Snow White became a dumpster fire for many reasons, which celebrity pillory the original story has quote, backward. Is it A, Hornswaggle, the WWE wrestler? B, Peter Dinklage, C, Danny DeVito, D, Martin Short. - Is it? A, A, it was. - Would you write down Dallas? - Peter Dinklage. - Peter Dinklage. Peter Dinklage is correct. B. - Wait, said they. - I gotta give a daily wire credit for this. They, the company is responsible for 33% of the change on Disney on this one. - Hold on, I'm just confused about the question. - It's so hard. No one after it's so hard, you're mocking it. Every host was mocking it. - I swear, this was just, daily wire gets a ton of credit for suing the Biden administration, they don't get enough credit for changing back into the little guys. - Yeah, no, I'm confused though. Was it, was the question who was calling the original story backwards? Or who was calling the casting decision backwards? - He was calling the original story backwards. - Oh, it was Peter Dinklage's story. - It's so complicated. They went from like sort of, they were gonna cast ninja people. And then they were gonna cast weird like, United Colors of Beneton, Wacoers, and then a photo leaked of them all doing reshoots during the strike, which they weren't allowed to do. And then daily wire just started making fun of it. And it just on and on and on. And then it got replaced with CGI dwarves. (laughing) - It was such great content for us, like a month it was awesome. And I had to shout out my man Horne Swaggle, the WWE star. I was doing a movie with him at the time of this controversy. He was so mad at Peter Dinklage. Like, dude, this is like the best roles ever for us. You getting me? Why are you ruining this? - Wow. - Dinklage said like one of five roles that we can possibly get in Hollywood, and we shouldn't get it. - So stupid. - It's crazy. - What a moron. And his entire community came out and said, don't do this, we want those roles. - Yeah. - Crazy. - So crazy. - All right, number 11. Which group organized protests against traffic thunder for all of its offensive stuff in the movie? Was it A, Animal Rights Groups? B, Racial Justice Organizations? C, Disability Rights Organizations? Or D, Military Veteran Organizations? (upbeat music) Every time Michael starts drawing, it's gonna be something offensive. (laughing) Almost take me to color in blackface. - Yeah, no, here it's, hold on, hold on. All right, what do you got? C, never go full redone. There you go. That is correct. They weren't mad about the blackface or the stuff. It was actually making fun of simple jack. The simple jack thing got in a lot of trouble. - That's right, that's right. - Yep. - What a great move. That was a great move.
I haven't gone back to watch it in a very long time. It's incredible. Yeah, 10 out of 10. All right, number 12. Seth Rogan and James Franco, comedy, the interview, became the center of international crisis after hackers attacked Sony Pictures on behalf of what offended country? Was it A, China, B, Russia, C, North Korea, or DI-RAN? Oh, no. This was such a funny attack, too, just because all the emails that were released about people's like personal interaction. Oh, amazing. So fun to read everyone, like, making fun of each other and the emails and stuff. That was more fun than the actual event. I'm checking my watch now because I'm bored because I know Dallas is a hard out. I said North Korea. And then you can see it's the North part of the peninsula. It's uncanny. Just amazing. I gave him the double chin, you saw that. There you go. That was a correct, good job, gentlemen. All right. 13. Which movie reportedly had to shorten a puppet sex scene repeatedly to avoid an NC-17 rating? Was it A, Happy Time Murders? B, Meet the Feebles. C, Team America World Police, D, South Park, Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. NC-17. It's like a Muppet Christmas. Team America World Police. That is correct, gentlemen. What an amazing film, too. The film actor is killed. He's just a stroke of genius. I'm Matt Damon. I'm Matt Damon. There's so many iconic lines in the movie. Well, I need Judas. It's not about sex, it's about trust. All right. Number 14. Apocalypse now famously endured a chaotic production that included a typhoon destroying the sets. It's leading man suffering a heart attack and filming stretch from my plan 16 weeks to well over a year. The American Humane Association gave the film a quote, "Unacceptable rating because it included graphic footage of tribesmen slaughtering witch animal." This is actually a great callback to run high-five. Was it "A, a cow, B, a water buffalo, "C, a goat, D, a chicken?" Oh, man. And when you rewatch this, it's wild. It's like, oh, they really did it. What do you have, Michael? Putting art together. We have three minutes. Is it the water buffalo? It's the water buffalo. B. All right. And actually, the director Francis for Copulo said that they were going to do it anyway, a kind of thing. And they said it was part of one of their ceremonies. Anyway, but people are really mad about it. It is. There are movies that are more fun to watch in their movies that are, quote, better. But it is the greatest movie achievement of all time. It's up there with some of the greatest. Because it's so hard. There's so many characters. There's so many storylines. There's so many locations. Just an unbelievable feat. Everyone is perfect in the movie. It is, it is, it is, I consider it the greatest production of any movie of all time. Yeah, and Marlon Gwendo. He's just looking so fit and healthy and good. That's one thing you got to be careful, though, because he's put out multiple cuts. So you've got to go find this very specific cut called the final cut. It's not the redux. It's not the theatrical. It's not blah, blah, blah, blah. The final cut. It's got the whole sequence with the French family that's embedded in the country and things like that. Very, very wonderful movie. Interesting. And reportedly, he shot more than one million feet of film. Wild. Yeah. All right. Last question here. Number 15. Which actor's final role famously involved wearing a Native American headdress and a tire while intentionally mocking a indigenous culture and heritage in a raunchy, politically incorrect comedy? Was it A, that half gay guy from the student film? B, the guy from the chocolate bar commercial? C, Michael Knowles, or D, all the above? You know, that's so funny. I didn't even put together what that was. You're right. I forgot. I did that movie. We need to doubt this job from the job. You're talking about my final acting role? Currently, it's the final job. I'm leaving you in the dust and I'm going to go work for Dallas. Let's fix that. Yeah. Yeah. What is so outrageous? Listen to him. Listen to him. He's dancing on the grave of my acting career. And now just for that, now I got to come out of retirement. It's outrageous. Well, you're going to find a new job after this. The great tragedy, of course, is that neither of you have been in a daily wire movie in any role of any substance, except for Ladyballer's public cameo. And we haven't made an Andrew Clayton movie. That's the actual. I'm not possible. What are we doing? I'm not serious. It's commendable that you haven't put babies in anything. It's moderately upsetting that you haven't put me in anything. But we do have to make an Andrew Clayton movie at some point. Unreal. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. It's also unreal how much Dallas absolutely destroys you in this game. That's destroyed. I get destroyed. So to the victor goes to Spoils, Michael, can you give 30 seconds worth of compliments to Dallas on you? I can't. I started out by giving compliments to Dallas. He is the greatest living connoisseur and executor of on-screen violence. You can see this on full display in his entire uvre. But certainly in the daily wire films from the very beginning, the first film that we released, which is Run Hyde Fight 1. And now you can see it in Run Hyde Fight infadels. At dailywire.com/subscribe. If you don't, come watch this movie and subscribe. We're going to have to make budget cuts and fire bendabies. So hold on a second. This ad isn't actually going the way that I thought it would. I'm not really being persuasive anymore. Well, never. I'll tell you what. Just for you, if you don't watch Run Hyde Fight infadels, we will keep bendabies. So if you want any chance of kicking him off this show, make sure you go check out Dallas's latest movie, the latest movie from the daily wire. Run Hyde Fight infadels. I don't want to spoil anything, but a Muslim kicks a homosexual off a roof. That was awesome. And you know, since this is your show, Michael, and Dallas has to leave like right now. We just close this out real quick. Yes. Thank you, Ben, for giving me the last word. Dallas, always excellent to see you. Ben, I saw you. And to the audience, especially great to be with you. We'll see you next time on Face On.
