It is hard to tell a story like this, to see children in such terrible conditions. And to say the house that they were found in was decrepit is an understatement. You'll see that. It's almost three o'clock in the morning and police have responded to this home because a neighbor called 911 concerned that they could hear children crying inside. - It's gonna be for a general evaluation of two, three year old children. - The neighbor who called 911, in my opinion, is a hero because they trusted their gut and they called law enforcement because they knew something was wrong. Now, before we get into the house, police, just from the outside, looking at a window, can tell that something may be wrong inside. - There's nobody in there, but there's water in here. - Yeah, it's like the water, right? Now in the description that Flint Township Police put out, and it's something to think about as you continue to watch this body cam, and it just puts into perspective just how sad of a situation it appears police have found inside this house. Police write, quote, one child was found trying to eat raw, spoiled meat, not out of defiance, but because hunger cannot wait. And it does not understand neglect. The other was curled up on the bedroom floor trying to make themselves small in the absence of care, instead of tucked safely into the bed that had been left vacant. A silent image of vulnerability, fear, and the need for protection that was nowhere to be found. Wow, that is powerful writing by police.
