To realize the future America needs, we understand what's needed from us.
To face each threat head on.
We've earned our place in the fight for our nation's future.
We are Marines.
We were made for this.
They say everything happens for a reason.
But I suspect everything happens for a Reese's.
Like this commercial break.
Did you need 15 seconds away from music?
Or 15 seconds to eat a Reese's?
Perhaps it's true.
Everything happens for a Reese's.
We're going to take a deep dive into some of the probably most pointless conversations you'll ever have.
But it'll be fun.
We'll make it fun.
I try to deepen people's perspective on the world.
Let them make their own opinions.
But let it be based on something that's objectively real.
Love it.
So I got both brothers here.
All right.
Neil!
Oh!
I am a massive fan.
I cannot wait to talk with you.
This is such an honor.
Such an honor.
Seriously.
I tried to read astrophysics for people in a hurry.
Apparently, I was in too much of a hurry.
Oh, yeah.
It was hard.
It was hard for me.
Okay, what are you saying?
You need. There's a version for kids called astrophysics for young people in a hurry.
That's what I need.
That's what I need.
That's for 10-year-olds.

Oh, not to be serious.
We got a little Chiefs-Broncos action.
A little trade deadline coming up.
Neil deGrasse Tyson is here to talk to all of our crazy space questions that we might have for an astrophysicist.
So, let's get into it right now with a little bit of that new news.
New news.
New news is brought to you by Stouffer's.
And that brings us to the new Heights tailgate.
That's right.

So, we're going to get some people in some sumo suits battling for some prizes,
as well as a little hobby horsing kind of contest, it appears.
I don't know what the track that we've laid down for them,
but there's going to be some shenanigans to watch before this game against the Giants.
If you want to compete, you can hit up New Heights Social

That's new news brought to you by Stouffer's Trap.
Let's start with some bold topics.
All right.
Let's get into it.
Bold topics brought to you by Pepsi.
And we lost to the Broncos in a nail biter.
It came all the way down to the last play.
24-28.
It did come down to the last play.
It came down to a couple of plays right before the end of the game there.
It was kind of crazy.
You guys were not able to punch it in.
Hard-fought game.
Trav, what are your thoughts following the mile-high failure?
Yeah.
I mean, it wasn't our best performance,
but we fought through some adversity there throughout the game, obviously.
Wish we would have finished it better.
Penalties will kill you in this league.
And right now, we are killing ourselves in that regard.
I'm at the forefront.
I think it's my third week in a row I've had a fucking procedural penalty
that's halted the drive or we're going backwards instead of going forwards.
And I've been doing this too long to be hurting my team like that.
And, I mean, it's just inexcusable.
And, obviously, throughout the game, there were a lot of them that stopped drives
that put us in tough positions and tough situations, including the last one.
And, I mean, I love J.
Moe, and J.
Moe knows we're rocking with him every single day of the week, and he'll fix it.
Just like I got to get mine fixed, and the rest of the team,
they got flagged over the course of the game and was asked to get it fixed.
So, I'm not blaming it all on penalties.
We still got to execute in the run game.
We had a bunch of chances down there in the red zone at the end to be able to punch it in.
And just didn't execute.
Didn't execute the game.
Didn't execute the play, as it was called.
Got the looks that we were looking for on the majority of them, and we just got to make a play, man.
And it's just unfortunate that it happened to a team like the Broncos who are now, I believe,
ahead of us in the standings for the division, and we just got to make sure that we gear back up.
You know, we can't let this get us down.
We got to keep fighting, keep figuring out ways to win ball games, and just know that we got everything
we need right here in the building to get that done.
Yeah, I mean, listen, you guys were – I know it comes down to last play, and Jalen Moore with the false start
ended up taking it back.
A would-be touchdown to take the lead late – I mean, pretty much at the end of the game.
Yeah, that's going to be what everybody talks about, but there's four quarters of football that we could have executed way better.
Well, I mean, really, for three quarters, you guys executed great.
Up until the fourth quarter, you guys were leading by, what, 11?
You guys had a fourth and inches that elected to kind of punt on.
That feels like a situation where we would go for it.
It was close because you guys were already up two scores.
You don't want to give them a short field, so I was like, okay, maybe that's what Andy's thinking.
But I was watching.
I was like, this is like a clear – I mean, I know you guys don't run sneak, but it was like – I think it was less than six inches.
This thing – a matter of fact, I was waiting to see if you guys were going to challenge it because I think it was Emmitt Johnson on the play before.
He got forced out, and it was – I mean, it was really close to that first down marker.
Either way, you guys are in a position to win the game.
Credit the Broncos.
I mean, Bo Nix, for some reason in the fourth quarter at the end of games, even dating back to last year, he kicks it into another gear,
starts pushing the ball down the field.
Made some big plays when it mattered most, but you guys still had the opportunity to win it.
You brought up the false start.
We do have it in the rundown.
Let's bring it up now, Brandon, because it is a – it was a touchdown that was called back due to a false start,
which kind of – I don't know when they were blowing the whistle or at what point that all happened,
but the play did good off, and it was a completed touchdown.
A lot of people saying this isn't a penalty.
I want to go on record.
This is definitely a penalty.
It is hard to see from the overhead angle.
The overhead angle –
You don't get a good view of how much Jalen actually –
Flinches.
Flinches.
Thank you.
Flinch is the word.
He flinches.
If you get the other angle, it's clear that there's a flinch, and it's obvious why the official called it.
I wanted to bring this up to you, though, Travis.
Did you guys discuss this?
This was confusing to me when I watched this live, and I brought it up to Jeff Schwartz,
and Mitchell Schwartz, I guess, was also confused on it.
The right guard, Trey Smith, is looking back at the quarterback, and Creed Humphrey's head is also looking down.
Most of the time when the Chiefs are on silent –
Silent cadence.
I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, Creed is the one looking back.
You guys don't do guard tap with Trey looking back, do you?
Mm-mm.
So I was looking at this.
I'm like, why is Trey looking back there?
It looks like they're doing a guard silent cadence.
And before this, you can't see it in this play.
It was loud, and you could see Pat is screaming at the receivers to the left
to make sure that they know what they're doing or are aligned properly.
So whenever there's a holdup in the operation, that –
leads to guys being antsy.
But Jalen Moore here, I don't know what happened on this play
where Trey's looking back and Creed, but if you watch, right when Trey turns around,
for those of you watching, the tackle in a silent cadence is periphering the guy
that he is blocking over here to the right and the center.
And there's not a verbal aspect to this.
The moment the center lifts his head up, he's got to go, and he's got to time that up.
You're not –
You're not looking at the center when it happens.
You're seeing his head out of the peripheral of your left eye.
So Trey looking back and then all of a sudden snapping forward is within that kind of plane of –
I don't know.
You don't want all this movement happening.
And I'll say this.
I've said it for a while.
Creed is a quick silent cadence.
When his head comes up, that ball comes out fast.
So that even makes the tackle more in a hurry to get off the snap count.
A lot of guys will go up.
And then they'll test their head or something like that.
Give it just a little bit more of a pause so the tackle can try and time it.
Creed lifts his head up, and he snaps it quick.
So I can see why Jalen Moore –
I don't want to make excuses for him.
Like, he's got to be locked in.
But there's a lot of shit happening inside of here.
I was confused on why there's so many guys looking back in the first place,
what was getting communicated.
I kind of felt bad for Jalen, to be honest with you,
because this whole thing came down to him getting a false start.
And I don't know what the fuck is going on in there.
Well, at the end of the day, we still had another playoff.
And I'll take my guys at Pat Mahomes on the six-yard line with the game on the line.
I'll take that any day of the week.
So we've got to execute at the end even more.
We can't let the penalty absolutely deflate us
and not let us execute at the end of the game
and just regroup and make sure that we find a way to fucking win that football game.
It is what it is.
You've got to be able to –
play the cards you're dealt and
And like I said, just find a way to fucking get the job done.
Well, fans pointed out this picture.
You want to pull that up, Brandon?
Because I do think it's appropriate to talk about.
Not for the Chiefs, but I just want to bring a point up.
But what quarterback sneak, not tush push, is kind of the parameters for it.
So before there was a tush push, you see, you guys did a great job of circling this.
Who did that circle?
What's this guy's name?
Taylor Witt.
Taylor Witt.
Good job circling the open A gap.
So the A gap is between the center and guard.
There's two A gaps.
There's one between the center and right guard.
And there's one between the center and the left guard.
Whenever you are in a one yard or less situation and you are under center
and the defense gives you an open A gap, as we can see right here with the right A gap,
this is how you used to run quarterback sneaks.
Whenever a team gave that A gap open, we would just automatically go into quarterback sneak mode.
It would be like an instant check at the line.
And you would just run sneak because it's, I don't know that I've,
ever seen quarterbacks.
And I, I, I hesitate saying that because that's an audacious statement,
but we're talking like well into the 95% success rate with an open A gap.
Like it's just very, very unlikely that a team is going to stop a quarterback sneak in this front.
That being said, the reason they don't do it is because Patrick Mahomes almost
ended his season trying to do it at one point.
I know you guys have done it.
But Noah Gray, the problem with that is that obviously when Noah goes under center teams,
no, you're running quarterback sneak.
So you're not going to get an open A gap like this.
This would also be a play where I feel like you could just check dive.
Well, that was the play.
The play was dive.
I know.
I know.
And we didn't block it, right?
Yeah, I know.
I saw it on the outside.
It's whatever.
Yeah.
For some reason, they let 24 crease right in there.
Whatever.
Anyways, I didn't know this was going to be in the rundown.
I saw it in the rundown.
I thought it was a, I always like talking about quarterback sneak.
And this open A gap is a big tell for when teams should be running quarterback sneak.
We haven't been a QB sneak team really since that, since that occasion.
And I feel like we've been pretty good on short yardage up to this season, up to this
season.
Right now, we're struggling on, on, on figuring out what the, what the right magic is for
short yardage.
But, you know, I think we got the coaches and the players to figure it out.
We just got to, we just got to put our mind to it.
And like I said, the play we ran was.
The right call.
We just had to block it.
Right.
And yeah, it's a, it's unfortunate that, that it didn't work, but we came back on the next
play called the right play against the right coverage, got a touchdown, but the penalty
held us back.
And yeah, it's just, it's, it's just, you know, execution and making sure that we're
all on the same page and the right plays are being called and it's our job to go out there
and get it done.
So.
All righty.
Well, positive note.
Uh, we did.
We did get, I mean, Emma Johnson, holy shit.
I mean, and he had been, it had been brewing, like he had been making some big plays, some
explosives.
You saw the elusiveness.
He was outstanding in this game.
I mean, really when you guys needed it, he was the one that was providing a lot of the
juice.
And I mean, obviously it's, it's relied heavily.
He's got a bunch of juice, man.
The guy's got fucking energy.
He plays the game, right?
He shows up to work with the right mentality.
Um, he's just been absorbing everything he could possibly learn.
From all the coaches, from DeMarco Murray to, to, you know, coach Reed, Kenneth Walker,
even obviously the enemy, the enemy being, you know, the offensive coordinator and him
being a, uh, NFL running back, listening to everything he has to say.
And it's a mentality in that room.
That room is, uh, it's right now is playing as good as any room in the league.
And I, I just, uh, for Emmett to finally have a huge game and get his first, uh, career
touchdown.
Um, I was happy as hell for him.
Um,
I mean, that little juke move right at the end of it, he almost fell.
He did.
It wasn't the cleanest, but a lesser athlete would have felt that's right.
My fat ass would have been on the ground right here.
You see him trying to cut back.
Oh, it still got in there though.
Go back to the start of this Brandon.
Cause this has been something that I really like the, um, the Eagles had a big play to
Saquon down in the red zone.
The bills have been doing this for years.
When you're playing these man coverage teams, the way the Broncos are and they're blitzing
and stuff like that.
I love when the back releases across the formation like this, because it is so hard for those
guys to keep track of them.
They all expect the running back to release to the side.
He is in, in shotgun.
Go back to the start real quick.
They all think he's going to go to the right.
If it's a pass play, but all of a sudden you get a little play action and he slips out
of there.
The bills do a great job of this with, with cook.
I'm a huge fan of teams that do this.
It's an underrated way to create traffic and to mess with the linebackers, which way
they're kind of opening to what receiver, like you got to open a number three.
Well, now number three is going across formation.
So now it's a two by two and all this shit where, where it gets confusing for the most
of them is, uh, it's that double a look where, or you get those backers pressuring up the
middle and now it puts a read for the guy, two guys on the end to have to take the back
in man to man coverage.
And I think that's what.
That's the key because teams put peel responsibility on these pressures.
Now, this one might not be that I don't want to speak for this exact pressure, but I like
it in the red zone for the same thing with like saw where it's like, Hey, if you slip
this guy up inside, all of a sudden the end can forget to peel because less and less teams
do it where the mic has the back man, because you can actually block that.
And it takes a lot of pressure.
Yeah.
And it takes a little bit longer for the green dog.
So then they'll put like the peel responsibility on it.
And then if he releases inside, nobody has, he had a good game.
Yeah.
And it's, uh, hopefully more, uh, good games to come out of the, out of the young man.
I think I liked about him too.
I've known he's elusive and like a, uh, like a agility guy for a while.
He had some really hard runs in this game where he was breaking tackles.
He's a strong back, man.
He's a strong back.
There's a reason why he led the big 10 in Russian.
That's for sure.
Alrighty.
What are the chiefs need to do right before the Jets game?
We talked about a penalties.
It is what it is.
If we clean up penalties, man, I think we could be as good as we want to be in this league.
And, uh, that's the message in the building.
Um, and that's the message from, from our, our, our leader up front.
Um, and you know, I think, uh, we clean up a lot of these things.
We keep executing at a high level, keep putting up points for our defense and our defense to clean it up as well.
So I think, uh, we just got to focus on ourselves, man.
Jake, who are you rooting for?
Don't make me do this, Jason.
I think it's a responsible thing.
Are you rooting for your friend?
We've been, we've been in this predicament our whole entire career.
So now you're going to answer it.
I'm, I'm absolutely rooting for Travis for sure.
I am a hundred percent rooting for Travis.
You hear that Jets fans?
He's a fucking phony.
He's a phony.
I didn't say I was rooting for the chiefs.
Oh, you're going to fucking be all sympathy with me now.
I'm rooting for you.
You don't give a fuck.
You don't give a fuck about me, Jake.
You don't know a single one of those Jets players.
You don't know a single one.
All because your elementary school teacher converted you to a Jets fan.
You're going to abandon Travis.
I can't abandon my team.
You wouldn't want fans of the Eagles or fans of the chiefs abandoning the team after a losing streak.
So I got to stick with my guys.
Yeah.
Well, at least my sister-in-law will tell me to my face.
Fuck you.
I hope the birds win.
All right.
Fair enough.
Fair enough.
Good luck to your Jets, bud.
Good luck.
Good luck to you, Travis.
I'll take all the luck I can get.
It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if the Jets continued to lose games and got a better draft pick.
I'll say that.
This guy's already looking at draft picks.
This is like, that's such a broken fucking, and we're kind of dealing with it right now with the Eagles.
Like, there's people like, oh, we're going to sell people just, like, I just like.
It's not.
There's an integrity.
It's not basketball, man.
There's an integrity that you need to play the game with.
I know fans don't want to hear it, but like, you can't just lose games on purpose to get a high draft pick and think you're.
A team's magically going to be repaired.
That's just not.
One player isn't going to make things.
It could make things better.
I'll say that.
I mean, listen, if it's Peyton Manning, then yeah, I guess.
But I just, it's going to be hard to replace the culture of losing games in the NFL.
It's just not a, as opposed to some other sports, it is a lot harder to have a culture of like playing hard, physical for each other than it is on just like.
Like, you know, having a LeBron James or something like that back there.
Like, I just, all right, you want to move on?
Let's go.
Yeah, let's do it.
Let's move on to the Eagles.
Now that we're talking Eagles.
Eagles 10, Commanders 27 on a little Sunday night football.
The Eagles lose six straight.
Yeah.
For the first time since 2012.
Yeah.
I remember that.
That was a rough year.
Yeah, that was the last, that was the Andy Reid finale.
Yeah, that was the year I tore my ACL.
I was watching that.
That was not a fun.
I didn't want to be able to witness it take place.
Well, thoughts on the game?
Listen, we lost.
I don't really have many thoughts other than it's a frustrating team to watch right now.
Obviously, they've had a lot of injuries and things go wrong.
And, you know, every step of the way, you kind of think, oh, they're about to make, you know, an improvement here.
Like the offensive line last week against Dallas plays really well.
I thought protected pretty well.
Got the run game going, especially in the first half.
And they come back this week.
But again, like unblocked guys.
running through
things that we've kind of seen and we've been waiting for it to kind of really correct
and you know they've had guys in and out of the lineups obviously playing with the backup
quarterback they're under their sixth string running back basically now because Saquon still
is hampered a little bit and then defensively you know the second half has just been you know
their Achilles heel really most of the season but especially these last two games like you know it's
it's been a tale of two halves for the offense and defense for the most part and it it reared
again you know I mean like they're they're in it in the second half and you know I know that the
offense isn't doing the defense any help they've been put in bad situations like they've I don't
know where it is now but going into last week they were like the fourth most snaps as a defense
because there's a lot of three and outs it's just impossible yeah it's impossible to to ask the
defense to be able to keep it well it's not impossible it's just impossible to ask the
impossible to ask the defense to be able to keep it well it's not impossible
like Minnesota's right up there their offense is atrocious and that's the only reason they're
winning games because their defense has sustained but it is definitely harder to do than if the
offense was well functioning in the second half especially I'll ask you this knowing the answer
where does a team sit mentally after six straight losses well that's the thing man I don't think
you've ever had this what's the most what's the most losses you've ever had in a road trip
five five what year was that last year no
I don't think it was 2016 16 we ended up making the point we rambled off 11 in a row
fuck yeah hopefully the eagles can do that um dude when you lose games consecutively
it really tests the fortitude of the locker room that's just the reality of it tests
the leadership it tests the coaches it is very easy to be a leader and a coach when things are
going well in the NFL where it really tests people is when things aren't going well you're searching
for answers you're searching for answers you're searching for answers you're searching for answers
how well do guys stay together how well do people try and figure out answers and have hard
discussions and remain accountable to themselves and not start thinking about what's going to
happen down the road or I'm getting the blame or all of these other things and losing consecutive
games losing in general is just like a poison in a lot of ways it can be great it can humble you
and force you to have real discussions that make you better as a player and as a team but it can
also you know it happens over and over and over again it really can have a compounding effect as
a group in your psyche um so they're getting tested right now but I know a lot of those guys
personally I know Jordan a lot I know I know Saquon Barkley you know there's guys out there that
are are definitely taking accountability and trying to get this thing right
um and they need a win bad they need a win bad just for you know that little bit of
optimism of like hey what we're doing is we're on the right track we're just keep putting your
head down and working and keep grinding finish just a little bit harder do your job just a little
bit with more strain all these little things and with each successive loss it becomes harder and
harder to keep the team together to be honest with you yeah I mean it just takes the wind out
of your sails and uh you know it's uh it's it's gonna challenge the leadership and it's gonna
challenge the uh the
integrity of the office and and you just got to keep showing up to work and keep finding ways and
um attack the problems can't run from this shit in this league man that shit's just only going to
keep getting more and more exposed like we have on here what should Eagles fans be watching more
we should be watching for them not making these mistakes like the controllable things should be
getting fixed that's the thing like it's one thing about a guy getting beat you penalties you know
like knowing your assignment going to the right guys all of these little things that has to be
getting cleared up and that's the thing that's the thing that's the thing that's the thing that's
cleaned up and it was starting to last game reverted back a little bit in this game you
want to see that stuff beginning to get taken care of you want to see guys fighting you want
to see who's fighting I had a very rare career where I played over a decade with four different
guys through four different head coaches how rare that is to have that kind of continuity in a
building through rebuilds multiple times and that's one thing I think a lot of the fans right
now are like oh like I'm not going to be able to do that I'm not going to be able to do that I'm not
we're going to trade Saquon we're going to trade this one thing the Eagles have done a great job of
in all these transitions they prioritize talented people talented players talented coaches talented
front office people and they in general even in transitions they retain players that they know
are a part of playing the way they want to play leaders guys that play the game the right way and
work hard that they want to be in the game and they're going to be able to do that and that's
we're going to keep talented players we're going to keep Brandon Graham Brent Selick Jason Peters
Lane Johnson uh you know Brandon Graham Fletcher guys we're not going to get rid of these pieces
they're going to be a part of what we're building on in the future and they did the same thing with
Stout who was retained through Chip Kelly and retained through Doug Pearson the same thing
with Deuce Staley they kept around Corey Unlin for a number of years they kept around Dave
Smith the special teams coach they kept front office people in analytics realm of like anywhere
where people bring in value they always prioritize people and they're going to be a part of that
right Eagles fans the rest of the way I don't like hearing the whole rebuild thing because I
just firmly don't believe in that kind of mindset you try and win and then obviously you're going to
be in a mindset of trying to acquire resources to continue to build a roster more when you realize
you're shortened areas like the Eagles are anybody that's screaming rebuild show me one rebuild like
show and show me where the rebuild has ever like that mentality has ever paid off I mean I guess
recently you could point to like New England in some ways after the Bill Belichick thing with
Drake May but I just I my my thing is you there are a lot of teams that start rebuilding and then
they're rebuilding for a decade that's we grew up in Cleveland Browns have been rebuilding for
fucking 20 years 20 or what not since 1996 the Browns are rebuilding right the Jaguars are
finally on track with Liam Cohen they got a great roster now they've been rebuilding for how many
years and you know there's a reason why teams like the Steelers and teams like the Chiefs and
teams like where there's sustained success there's a culture I hate again I hate using the culture
word I brought this up on the baby there's a way of going about business that is demanded and
understood when you have retained people you can't just be like oh we're going to trade all of our
assets for drafts and we're going to trade all of our assets for drafts and we're going to trade
and build brand new and then these guys are just going to know how what the expectation is in
practice what the expectation is in games and there's a shared vision of football that I have
I have a very unrealistic sense of the NFL because I only play with the Philadelphia Eagles
and I learned my entire craft from Brent Selick and Todd Harriman's and Michael Vick and all of
those guys that learned from Brian Dawkins and there's retained knowledge that happens when you
when you have pieces that sustain all this stuff I hear you on that thank you to our presenting

at planetfitness.com all right let's get into the rest of week eight no more undefeated teams are
left that's right the lions beat the minnesota vikings in an outstanding game trav i don't know
if you were able to the only thing i saw was this the cfl player what people are calling this cfl
play which was i'm not gonna lie i feel like it's a slap in the face to the defense that this even
fucking worked right i i don't know so ryan pagneti actually uh senior correspondent on
numbers for new heights has been showing a lot of these motions and formations where
they line up deep they get like a running start and then they go lateral or they'll line up deep
and they get it catch up and then they're like oh my god i'm not gonna lie i'm not gonna lie
catch a ball going a thousand miles an hour i can't tell yet if this is good shit or not like
i really it's it's he catches it going so fast does he but i feel like you're you're kind of
tipping your hand a little bit like what else are you going to do from this formation now what teams
are starting to do which i kind of like is they're running straight ahead and then right before the
snap they're either turning left or right so they're kind of like rolling into a motion oh you're
talking about like the banana motion that hugh's checking them are doing no no no this is more in
college they really haven't started doing in the nfl yet but like imagine if you're so like
typically if you're in motion on the right side you go you go laterally to the left right so what
these guys are doing is they're they're running straight which is an illegal motion if the ball
was snapped but right before the ball is snapped they either round it to the right or round it to
the left and the reason it's interesting to me is if you're a defense you don't have to
know is this going to turn into a three by one or is this going to turn into a two by two and it
happens really quick as well as hilarious i haven't seen this so they're doing it a little
bit in like the lower levels it's not that common yet i mean that's how it that's how it happens it
starts with like a d3 school and everybody's like that was kind of sweet a lot of like
what is it called uh trick plays yeah i mean it's coming from a grainy film
from a school that doesn't have any stands that's just you know what i mean it's just like
guys that just love ball they're just sitting there thinking about crazy shit there's some
interesting things happening with like stuff like this play where i'm on ross 15 yards deep
catches a bubble going a thousand miles an hour and then some of these motions where they're
actually running forward like a cfl motion so you build up speed and then you round it out at the end
i don't know if it's useful or not yet it's hard to tell but it's cool
watching people kind of do new things to me do you see what chip did
this past week chip kelly we don't even have this in the rundown no i didn't even realize he was in
northwestern but i didn't see this he ran a kind of like a snake play from the switch motion yes
like a maryland eye offset it was yeah yeah yeah brilliant brilliant took the cap off the defense
pulled some defenders out of the middle of the field look at this formation
i mean it's it's brilliant you can get a clean release because this is i mean it's
technically single high and he's running right down the middle of the fucking field
it's kind of like uh this is what you have to do if you're northwestern we gotta outthink these guys
we gotta use our degree boys any place that has one of the top rank law schools we're gonna have
to come up with a place like this to try it but um dude he also won a game earlier this year
uh doing like wing t plays he ran like wing t offense and like had a huge upset
it was like plays from when we were in high school fucking in cleveland heights i'm like
what the fuck is over there bro i i don't know if that was against oregon or something he beat
some team and it was like wing t football it was incredible he just said fuck it i'm about to run
midline he just was like we're running navy offense with no field prep i mean fuck it
it's amazing look at this shit they did not do this all game bro i promise you penn state
midline midline but then the reverse to the f that was nasty and it was a good ass cut oh my god
that's just filthy right the chip's doing some fun shit in college either way i like doing all
this creative stuff shout out to amon rod we'll see if it if it works in the future the one thing
that's if you don't get those blocks exactly you're getting fucking clothesline at full speed
trying to catch the ball
ball as we said no more unbeaten teams with the vikings lost to the lions but there is still a
team the chargers which is just like i mean this is one of the favorites coming in the season this
has been the wildest story of the year it's it's pretty wild yeah i nobody nobody in a million
years saw this one coming not only did not see this coming everybody thought they were like
almost like a super bowl contender it is just not worked out in la for the chargers at all
um and we are also one week away from the nfl trade deadline uh so far we have some notable
trades obviously jeffrey simmons for everybody to watch monday night football he made his impact
right away my goodness it was an unbelievable like week for him you know you could tell he's
he's got a little bit more energy now he plays i hadn't seen him get that fired up uh from getting
a sack in a long time and uh simmons is a unbelievable player but and both on and off
the field man it's uh walter payton man
of the year as well yeah jeffrey is simmons is incredible you know there was a great clip of
jim schwartz on day on jeremiah's podcast and jeremiah asked him you know what is the position
that like makes the biggest difference on defense like what's the most important position essentially
and without like even questioning he said defensive tackle three tech oh is it like
three tech yeah i mean honestly he said he preferably two really good tackles because
then there's nothing you can really do as an offense like the only thing you can really do
is slide to one of the guys so if you have two really good ones you're gonna get a guaranteed
one-on-one but mainly he was just talking about defensive tackles and the way they can take over
the games and like like when and i disagree with it so much everybody talks about the ends and the
ends are important i don't want to like take away from that obviously they're highest paid for a
reason but when you have a defensive tackle that can take over the interior of a line of scrimmage
you can play more soft boxes you can condense things and like let that guy just eat on the inside
when i think of the best the super bowl teams like whether it's you guys with chris jones whether it's
guys with jalen carter or fletch most of these super bowl teams and defenses that are really
good have great defensive tackles a part of it um so i don't know this is a huge gift for the bears
who really this could kind of turn around that defense they had to do a lot of creative things
defensively to generate pressure and do some things last night if that's any indicator against
seattle simmons is going to bring a lot to that
side of the ball for them so that's a huge trade yeah quentin nelson went to seattle i don't i feel
weird about this one because i just i've been a big huge fan of watching him play an indie
his whole career to them it doesn't feel right quite yet like him even though it seems like he's
very happy about it oh don't get me wrong he's in an offense that you know suits his skill set and
he's it's just in the look of it i can only see him in a coach uniform and it's just right
but he uh he had a i mean he had a stellar game as well he
showed a few highlights of him getting after the bears defense and then uh deforest buckner
went back to the niners from indy um indy is selling everybody obviously there's a lot of
word out there that they're selling jonathan taylor is now on the uh the trading block he
was in tears i believe do you see that picture after the game like you could see the emotion
on his face because i think he knows it's probably his last game as a colt that it's a frustrating
situation for him oh maybe that yeah maybe i shouldn't read into it too much uh but
everybody kind of wants to see where jonathan taylor is going to end up what's a perfect
place for jonathan taylor to end up where could we think who could really use go ahead stay right
there in indianapolis stay there jonathan go ahead stay there enjoy being dead one
organization your whole life trust me drinking from two guys that have been there
it's the best trying to think like who's a contender and just needs offensive help
like ridiculously bad
i think minnesota needs it i don't know if it's the best scenario for jonathan because their
offense is not that great like is he really going to bring a lot but i feel like the vikings would
be pretty incredible seahawks i mean listen they let k9 go would they make a move for a guy like
jonathan taylor i don't know yeah those are my two favorites probably what about you i told you i
think you should just stay there perfect i get it tampa bay also uh became the first nfl team since
game without completing a pass are you fucking serious fucking insane
he threw three passes the entire game oh my gosh it was a fucking monsoon didn't even attempt to
pass in the final 28 minutes so this is my biggest reason travis that i am against domes
i love when the elements how fun was this game to watch is where i kind of want to go
- I'll be honest, I was not watching this game
in a lot of detail while it was happening.
- I wanna go.
want to go let's go back and watch it let's go i want to go back and watch it for sure because
it's probably just like insane yeah it's just the boys are in the backyard just fucking handing that
bitch off there's probably a lot of people that were like this is the most boring game of all time
no dude what was the score like 17 to it was low it was like 19 to 7 or something like that 16 to
zero they didn't even kick extra points dude i just love when you gotta get you gotta get creative
it's like all right we're not throwing the ball i just love when this kind of shit happens snow
weather becker getting down go go go go uh get him get him oh yeah let's go way to get dirty
he's like listen if we're not passing the ball i'm getting dirty i don't give a fuck but these
games just end up being so much like it's a shit show in the best possible way love every second of
that i'm with you dude all right that's it for all of our bold topics from week eight uh bold
topics once again is brought to you by pepsi all righty as we said uh at the top of the show we
have a special guest for this episode that we've been waiting to get for a while hopefully all of
the united jupiter centers are finding happy that we got him please welcome mr neil degrasse tyson
all righty our guest today is the six foot two astrophysicist from columbia university
he has 20 years of experience in the field of astrophysics and he's going to be talking about
27 honorary degrees he's a grammy award winner he was awarded a nasa distinguished public service
medal he was named people magazine sexiest astrophysicist alive oh yeah he's been jason's
dream guest since we started this show that is true 92 percent is please welcome neil degrasse
tyson oh so i have to i have to correct a couple of things in that okay hit me if i may okay so yes
it is
22 honorary doctorates but i don't want anybody to be impressed by that you should instead be
impressed that i attended 27 graduations you're a better man than both of us that's the real
that's the achievement that i sat through 27 graduations a b the sexiest astrophysicist
that was 45 pounds ago
and b i don't think that was one
of the more competitive categories
okay no think about it that sexiest action star sexiest news anchor there's some handsome men
in those categories you know the second astrophysicist so i don't get big-headed about
that that's all yeah fair enough neil it's a complete honor to have you on the show
we are not lying we have been hoping to get you on uh since we started this i've been a big fan
of the way you talk about space the way you engage the way you talk about space the way you engage
people who like myself who don't know anything and i've had people come to me and say did you
know that jason kelsey name checked you on his
needless to say we are very happy to have you on um we do have a new heights question that is
beneath you but we are going to ask it no no there's nothing beneath me there's gonna be a
few of these all right so the first one that we need to get out of the way how many holes does a
straw have
how many holes does a straw have
how many holes does a straw have we have to have topologically it has one hole topologically what
is topologically so it's the study it's a mathematical branch of studying that studies
surfaces shapes in one dimensions two dimensions in multiple dimensions and so it follows surfaces
and the holes that are in the thing really really matter so you could take a donut which has a
hole and if it's made of clay you can distort it and make a straw out of it yes it still has one
hole okay you can distort the clay of a donut and make a coffee mug that has a little ring for your
finger to go through it if it has two holes you make different kinds of objects with that so it's
unambiguous mathematically a straw has only one hole how many holes did you want it to have well
this is where we go so travis travis
is right on this he was oh he always knew it was one oh i my argument was there's a entrance and
an exit and i look at it as though the two ends are two separate coming in and out so like picture
this you're in a cave if you're in a cave neil yes is there a hole on either end or are you just
in one giant hole yeah so that's a great question i hadn't thought about the cave version of this
here we we've all thought this as a kid if you dig a hole through the earth yes it comes out the
other side and then you jump in if i describe that to you i'd say you're jumping in the hole
yes and someone on the other side would say they're jumping in their hole yes right correct
and by the way if you fell through you'd come out the other side 45 minutes later oh wow that's
the strength of gravity pulling on you to to accomplish we have a would you my own podcast
we did a little thing on a hole through the through the earth so no no everything between
those two exits that the entrance and the exit topologically is one hole understood just deal
with it okay that's a win for the good guys by the way if you try to use it as a mini telescope
and you look through it yes it's one hole through the straw it's one hole
you're right that's a win for the good guys
right right how familiar are you with uh how funny the nfl players conspiracy theories
can be no are you no couple but no not in general no you can't go an entire week without hearing
somebody say we didn't go to the moon oh okay so here's my we need your help we're listening
the bat signal comes in we need emergency help somebody who actually knows what they're talking
about there's a couple there's a couple
here like we what is the best one one do you think we did and two do you believe that the footage we
gave the world is real of course it is and it's not okay the good thing about science it's true
whether or not you believe in it so yeah so i would ask if so here's what you do ask other
questions back to this person okay so i would ask if you so here's what you do ask other questions
back to this person okay so here's what you do ask other questions back to this person okay so
okay you they saw the rocket launch okay they're not denying the rocket launch
yep where do they think that rocket was going
down the street to get some groceries no you can add up all the fuel that's in that rocket
and with a little bit of physics you can show that's enough fuel to orbit the earth
leave earth go to the moon orbit the moon come back to earth yeah a there's that
okay yeah okay we went to the moon nine times okay how about that apollo 8 through apollo 17
okay apollo 8 didn't land apollo 13 didn't land but they went to the moon okay you would have to
say that we faked the moon landing nine times who does that who who does that so let me keep going
you tell me when the
stop okay
that nasa was going to lose the contest with russia and so the soviets and so they went to
hollywood into hollywood don't tell anybody but we're gonna have to fake this because we're not
ever going to get there we got to beat the russians and so they said we'll get our best
uh special effects people we'll study the problem a week later they come back to nasa say we studied
the problem and what we've concluded is to make the most convincing fakery we should do
this on location
great okay that does that does lead me to one of my favorite videos i've ever seen
debunking the myths uh about this conspiracy there's a stanley kubrick video on uh online
where he goes into not only did we not fake it but the technology of the camera things you guys
are saying we couldn't even the frames per second we couldn't slow down at that time
it wouldn't even be possible to do what you guys are saying generally so uh everything is a
conspiracy if you don't know anything about anything
and and you hear you know one of them is well the you know in the daytime you can see the stars on
the moon how come the photos don't show stars in the thing well because the camera is exposing for
the light available to it and
and starlight is really really really dim compared with the sunlight illuminating the surface of the
moon so it doesn't have the right exposure for that it's a simple explanation but people are
so conspiracy driven that they're not looking for the answers that will resolve their suspicions and
100 of conspiracy theories are they they they already know what they need the answer to be
and if something doesn't fit they either say it's a conspiracy theory or they're not sure what the
answer to be it's being withheld or that they are who's withholding it and that way they can bridge
in their knowledge and in their awareness of reality so that we when we brought back moon
rocks we we spread them around the world this is what you do as scientists this is how this is how
that works this is my debunking of moon landing by the way we haven't even gotten to aliens yet
and you're jumping all over we're just talking about the moon the two biggest ones for some
reason in nfl locker rooms that are kind of crazy uh are we didn't go to the moon and then flat
earth i'm sure you have heard unfortunately of people that somehow believe that the earth is flat
and not round i don't hit people over the head we live in a free country where we tell ourselves we
do okay so so in a free country you think whatever you want okay i'm not gonna chase you down but if
you think earth is flat i just don't want you to become head of nasa
even the field is curved
right yeah right so so i there are plenty of jobs for you if you need earth to be flat
in your cosmology but
there's the best one ready you you guys play football here it is i live on the east coast
it's sunday everybody's playing their games okay you guys play in the winter where the sun sets
early there's no daylight saving time i am in the dark in new york city watching the 49ers
at home and the sun is up that can only happen if earth is round
and football
is the best example of a round earth that's all i'm saying yeah okay because just you can't have
sunshine in san francisco and darkness in new york unless earth is round and and now there's a
there's a funner way to show that that's the blunt easy way to convince people in the locker room
what's going you guys don't watch your own games we watch your games and i can see the multiple games
some are in sunshine while others are in darkness okay yes b here's a fun one you lay down on a beach
okay your feet facing sunset if you if the configuration is right your feet are facing
sunset you're laying down and you're looking straight along your body yes the instant the
sun sets immediately stand up and then the sun rises again how about it in that moment you're
seeing beyond the curvature of the sun and you're like oh my god i'm going to die i'm going to die
and you're like oh my god i'm going to die and you're like oh my god i'm going to die
you have to do it quick you got to be able to get it quick it's harder in sand but you can do it
and the sun shows up again so these are experiments you can do it'd be especially
big for me if i was looking at my feet because my belly would make it
another curvature right there okay here's what you do you put a little dip for your butt to sink in
and then your belly goes horizontal
is that what happened
after you retired the belly comes back well yeah it went away for a little bit it's back in full
force now oh man i need to get back on the diet man yeah and travis you're still active right dude
yeah i'm still active how do you do this podcast why are you here why am i looking at you shouldn't
you be on a field somewhere training i just did i just did we do this after the training on
tuesdays tuesdays are off okay okay okay we're allowed one off day out of every seven days
the union held strong
we can get an off day and i'm spending it hanging out with the coolest guy okay i appreciate it
thank you to our sponsor colgate total on offense it's important to prevent problems
from the moment the ball is snapped that's true otherwise you're just out there running cardio
can't get open for a big play but it's not just football there's a lot of things you
need to prevent before they start yeah like in your mouth my mouth specifically i mean
probably yours too but i'm talking everybody's mouth there's bacteria in there that can
lead to oral health problems like cavities gingivitis right yeah all the nasty stuff
but the good news is you can prevent these problems before they start with colgate total
active prevention it's like having a good offensive line for your mouth oh exactly with
twice daily brushing colgate total prevents oral health problems like cavities and gingivitis
and it's not just for you it's for everybody you can prevent these problems with colgate total
not just one contributing player either it's a whole system toothpaste mouthwash and a special
toothbrush now that's the squad you want fighting for your mouth colgate total is like having a full
playbook in your bathroom working to help prevent oral health problems before they start get colgate
total on amazon today thank you to our partner pepsi we're in mid-season form and your tailgate
is hitting its stride you've perfected
getting the crispiest wings um your burgers are always cooked perfectly but are you pairing your
spread with the right beverage pepsi zero sugar has a bold refreshing taste that elevates every
bite and turns your tailgate into a party it's like seeing your quarterback launch a hail mary
into triple coverage that somehow finds the right hands that's what pairing your game day favorites
with pepsi zero sugar feels like no tailgate spread is complete without the great taste of
pepsi zero sugar grab one and finish the season strong tailgating deserves pepsi food deserves
pepsi did you uh did you play any sports growing up yeah i did i wrestled i knew you were wrestling
what was your weight class so i was in in high school i was undefeated and captain of the team
and i wrestled 190 and that was important because the next category above that was called unlimited
heavyweight yeah you're you're into the yeah it doesn't have a cap i had very good incentive
to not go come in heavier than 190 but then just in all fairness to the world out there
i wrestled in new york city which is not so much a wrestler we can still kick your ass in the streets
of the bronx but sure sure but it's it's not a it's not a wrestling town when i got to college
then i wrestled like these corn fed boys
there's a whole other world of wrestlers and so i had a losing record in college but i love this
sport so much and by the way i was fast and i had good reflexes so the football coach always wanted
me to play football and i say no i want to respect my knees a little better than what that i can
understand that for sure jason actually wrestled uh through middle school in middle school i played
in high school but okay what how much did you weigh in middle school i was 100 and i think the
65 okay that's up there in middle school yeah yeah yeah i was i think it was a notch right
below heavyweight for middle school for middle school i also have very long arms uh and it's
like three or four inches longer than my height so in wrestling it and i have very good reflexes
i just reach in and snap your ankle not snap it grab your ankle and trip you down so okay i was
very good at that but i was very good at that and i was very good at that and i was very good at
that but since i was typically taller than my average opponent since we're the same weight
if you do the physics of that they will have bigger muscles than i will so i don't want to
get inside their grip i have to stay elusive of them out of your chest and i used to dance i was
a performing member of three different dance college troops not the bullshite but yeah but
it also meant i was very flexible and so i can maneuver and move in ways that my wrestler would
be surprised by it and so yeah i told i was very flexible and so i was very flexible and so i was
very much enjoyed i also rode uh heavyweight eights in college so yeah i was i was i was very
athletic yeah wow i had no idea so so wait wait but the difference is i was never paid to be an
athlete okay just to make clear you unfortunately chose the sports that really don't give you that
option right um i guess right i guess pro wrestling you could have no i wasn't gonna go there
have you ever had the desire to actually go into space uh people ask me that that's very typical
but when they say space they're thinking these rockets that are going up that you know the bees
those branson billionaire boys space race and i'm going to demo this for you we happen to be in my
office where i have everything so let me reach behind me and get earth okay so this is a
schoolroom globe of earth all right and let me just to put this in context uh this is a scale
size i don't know there might be people who are only listening to this podcast rather than also
watching but i have a schoolroom globe and i have a uh a model of the moon uh that fits in the palm
of my hand okay these are to scale in size wow but you can ask well how far away is the moon now
we've all seen pictures of the earth and moon in textbooks and they both fit on the same
page leaving you to think that the moon is closer than it actually is on the scale of a schoolroom
globe the moon is 30 feet away oh my gosh three rooms over
okay that's why it takes three days to get there at seven miles per second okay yeah now you can
ask where is the international space station it's about a half inch above earth where is the
billionaire boys bezos branson rockets taking people in there the thickness of two dimes
above earth's surface okay where did crazy man red bull uh felix bum gardner where was he the
guy who jumped out of a perfectly good balloon yes he was the thickness of one dime above earth's
surface my point is i'm an astrophysicist when you ask me do i want to go into space
it is not boldly going where hundreds have gone before send me somewhere the moon mars and beyond
my answer to that question is no i'm not going to go into space i'm not going to go into space
would be yes oh wow okay you're trying to go see a new galaxy or see our galaxy give me a new place
to give me a place to go yeah then i'll give me a good netflix account some good music streaming
some fun books and i'm all in there was a guy who had a who had a now defunct initiative called mars
one where people would travel to mars one way on a spaceship and they would send supplies in advance
pitch tent and you just live there like the pilgrims came across the oceans and i interviewed
one of the guys who signed up for this and had all these sponsors it was a dutch guy who started it
had all these sponsors like it looked pretty real for a while there and one of the guys who signed
up was kind of geeky maybe in his low 30s and i had him as a guest on my podcast and i said
well why do you want to go he said i need a sense of adventure and i had the money
and and i said what is your i said are you married he said yes what does your wife say about this
and he said oh she was very encouraging
dude i don't want to be the one to break it to you
your wife is encouraging you to go one way to mars
so yeah so yeah space i would love space um i want to make sure there's money to bring me back
too that's you got to check double check
given budgets you never know you mentioned like the branson and like all these the private sector
that the space yeah that's the way to say it yeah where do you fall in line with what they're trying
to do for space exploration versus obviously conventionally nasa and the more government
perfectly intelligent question i i don't think he doesn't have many of them no i didn't mean it that
travis an intelligent question finally made it up so do you ever think about going to space
so i try not to go too public on this only because these are people with ambitions and dreams and i
don't want to you know i don't want to because big dreams often spawn smaller dreams that were
unimagined that are still of great benefit okay so i don't so i try not to stand in the way of anybody
what i will tell you is there's only one reason we went to the moon it's not because we're americans
and it's in our dna and kennedy had stirring words we choose to go to the moon not because
it's easy but because it's not because of any of that it's because the russians beat us that
practically every space metric there was they had the first
satellite they had the first mammal the like of the dog remember that they had the first human
the first woman the first dark-skinned person remember cuba was on their side they had the
first space station kennedy said oh my gosh we're so far behind we have to leapfrog this
let's go to the moon they haven't done that yet okay so all of our resources get directed to that
at its peak nasa was getting six percent not more but still a huge number six percent of the total
budget of the country was huge was was was devoted to going to the moon wow we got to the moon
we looked around say wait where's russia oh they're not coming
that was the end of the apollo program yeah okay yeah we could have stayed in 1972 we didn't did
we go back in 1980 no 1990 2000 2010 no oh we're gonna go back in the 20 teens and
ask people why are we going back to the moon because we have the artemis program right why
are we going back oh it's the right thing to do it feels right we're americans another delusional
state descends upon us you know what happened in the 20 teens china says they want to put
taikonauts on the moon that was a flame under our butt right there yeah and and moon that's
our place that's where our flags are so trump because that's his his 2016 to 2020 trump said
we're going to go to the moon biden comes in he doesn't undo that
because space transcends partisan politics nasa has 10 nasa centers in eight states
and those eight states variously vote in the last 10 elections uh general elections four red four
blue five red three blue five blue three red yeah yeah if someone wants to go into space that's
insufficient for you to know how they vote yeah and so so it transcends so it continued from from
trump to obama i mean from trump to biden to biden and then back and so we're going back to the moon
park the curtains china is in there and that we don't we don't want to lose this second race to
china and so you're talking about a private enterprise i'm going to tell you this it's
really expensive to go in space it's even more expensive to do something in space that no one
has done before governments do that because we are geopolitically driven
to do it we didn't go to moon to make money on it as a private enterprise might want to we went to
the moon to beat the russians and there's always money to beat your enemy okay so that makes private
enterprise when spacex brought cargo to the space station banner headlines is this the new frontier
private enterprise got they took cargo to the space station nasa's been doing that for 20 years
all right yeah they can do it more efficiently and do it more with a higher reliability yes that's
where the private enterprise comes but to do something in space first yeah there's no roi
on that yeah yeah that's a great point okay now now now our boy mr trillionaire he could do it as
a vanity project but he's not going to do it on spacex's dime if spacex is publicly traded because
the investors will say you're doing what well i want to be the first people on mars at what cost
about a trillion dollars it will someone die
probably what's the return on that investment uh nothing that's a that's a short meeting
but if he joined together with bezos they could send someone to mars uh but it's not a business
case you can't make a business case on that i have i'm so curious on your take on uh the comet atlas
okay you're talking about three eye atlas that one the one that was that just absolutely shocked
the world on what it looked like how it was flying okay so it's good
we're going back what on earth do you what do you do you only believe it's a comet do you i mean i
got you i got you i got you here so um my whole lifetime one of the holy grails of solar system
astronomy was we've got our comets and we've got our asteroids that are bound to the sun
orbiting the sun but we're floating in space orbiting a galaxy that has a hundred billion
other stars surely there are some wayward comets
or wayward asteroids homeless through space that we would encounter in our trip around the galaxy
just to be clear we are earth moving around the sun the sun and all the planets are moving around
the center of the galaxy as a unit and in doing so you'd expect to encounter some interstellar
something somethings okay so we've been looking for decades our telescopes have gotten better and
the last few years have we found interstellar objects that we can confirm three eye atlas the
three eye is the third interstellar object discovered three eye that's what that stands for
what made that object intriguing was it entered the solar system it did a hook around the sun
because it's feeling the sun's gravity there's not much strong gravity out there in space it's
going to see the sun the sun is going to have an influence on it but the sun is not going to capture
it oh no it's it's it's an interloper so it comes by and you track its orbit its trajectory and you
say wait a minute it is not following newton's laws of gravity in its trajectory around the sun
something is changing its path well that's exciting what is it yeah okay i happen to have
a colleague who was a big fan of that changed trajectory being
the willful act of aliens well the press couldn't get enough of that okay
a respected astrophysicist is saying maybe it's alien
that now it turns out just between you and me if there's anything we don't understand in the world
aliens
it's aliens okay it used to be god then it turned into aliens
exactly oh my gosh yes yes yes um but in terms of the first like you said this is the third one
three eyes well let me let me finish this out so it turns out asteroids are just rocks okay they
have no way to internally change their trajectory but comets they're made of ice principally ice as
it comes near a heat source can evaporate ah okay and if you evaporate you can out gas and create a
little push yeah a little bit of thing that changes your trajectory beyond what pure gravity would do
for it and so if you change that trajectory it won't behave in a now had the thing stopped backed
up looked around and it was like yeah oh hey give me some aliens for that yeah right yeah
okay
but it was a very smooth exit out that was slightly off trajectory so essentially everyone
who studied this other than this one colleague of mine who who was alien adjacent in his
interpretations uh we were perfectly content and by the way it's so as a comment as a comment by
the way it's only the third of these objects discovered that's what i was gonna expect
everything about it to be new and it was fascinating the way it's no we don't know we it's new
let us let us be befuddled but you're not letting us be befuddled because you're not you the press's
headlines where scientists are stumped yeah right well we design experiments every day of our lives
to be stumped that's what discovery is about that's why we build new telescopes to be stumped
so don't get don't get weirded out when a new thing gets discovered and we don't quite fully
understand what's happening with it that's what science is and so the first two i'm going to
i know we talked about the the the it being the third in terms of the view of it in terms of the
view of it this was that was what was more thrown off by me is that it had of odd shape and on top
of that it had like the i don't know whether it felt like it was like from star wars or what but
it felt like it had lights all over you're looking at the artist renderings of it
that's yeah i've seen too many sci-fi movies it had a peculiar shape well i don't want to
i'm saying is it's a new class of object yeah so we don't have enough of them to even
know if it's peculiar maybe they all look like that i hear you so we we just take good data on
it and i if memory serves because i might feel the specialty is not the inner solar system but
if memory serves the first two were were were asteroidal right rocky and this one was the
first of the comets and we have a few more since then and we might be up to six or seven now
and so there'll be more and we'll have a catalog of them and so they're going to be
there we have it and i almost every bit of excitement that you were generating from this
was the press reporting on the alien adjacency that existed in some members of the research
community but but definitely not in the majority you brought up aliens before we were running out
of time so we need to make sure we at least we have the whole universe that's what i'm saying
does travis have to go back to practice what is he maybe and we haven't even talked about the
we haven't talked about the tush push well let's let's focus on the whole thing i have a whole post
on the tush push because everyone was explaining it wrong they were getting the physics wrong
and then i had nfl films come to my office and you know what they did they think they gave me this
i love it that was a great piece by the way okay awesome piece okay aliens real quick what are your
thoughts on have aliens been
earth ranging from have aliens been here are there aliens we grew up with a father that no joke
like we would go up into his office and you could hear the seti radio frequency where they're
listening for extraterrestrial activity in space she's a fan we have a mom that watches every show
of ancient aliens and we tell her we tell her to steer clear but she just can't do it it's a little
infectious it's a little and plus
he got he's a very affable guy the guy with the hair that's oh my gosh you gotta love him you know
so it's ranging from ranging from the pyramids are uh uh like sources for extraterrestrial
so once again there's the i don't quite understand it it must be aliens so so
in my alien book by the way i have a whole other book that's great for the holiday season
called lost in space that's published with national geographic uh it's like and they
don't know how to do ugly it's a beautifully illustrated book that's 5 000 facts for
navigating the universe but let me finish with the alien so in the book i ask other questions
that other people aren't asking in similar to the flat earth have you wondered why san francisco's
game is in sunlight and the giants at home or not have you thought about that okay other questions
you look at ancient uh drawings and there's like a bubble head beams coming out of fingertips and
they're levitating and it's quite fanciful yeah here's some questions i would ask maybe that was
the kindergarten class just consider that i'm just putting it out there or maybe that was
their fantasies we have fantasies today go to any sci-fi look at the
creatures we create in our current imaginations in our sci-fi storytelling why are you denying
ancient people's creativity yeah this is stuff they're thinking of maybe they're imagining their
gods okay we our gods we have thor with a hammer that he throws up in the sky we have jesus who
walks on water with halos and and we imagine all kinds of things for our gods and our other
characters especially in the world of science fiction
i'm i'm fine saying maybe this is they're being imaginative don't take that from them don't do that
a couple of other things in peru there are these drawings on the it's called the planes the nasca
planes one of them has these huge lines that crisscross and there's a guy named eric van
daniken who wrote a book chariots of the gods who who everything he would go places wouldn't
understand and say must be aliens he imagined that these were runway for
aliens would direct because you can't see these patterns on the plains of peru they're too big
you have to see it from above and so they must have been directed from above here's the problem
aliens if you can travel through the vacuum of space yeah you don't need runways
stinks this through okay so so my take me to your leader book is a full exploration of other
questions people aren't asking about this
but they're not from the side of the gullibility lane it's from the skeptical lane but i'm still
with you on this i want i want to meet the alien as much as you do that's the title of the book
take me to your leader and imagine the aliens land on the 405 in los in los angeles okay the
freeway nobody walks anywhere in los angeles so they're just cars what's the first thought
the alien's gonna have that the dominant life form is an automobile what are they gonna think
and you'll see these automobiles lining up going into a slow line to get fast food handed through a
window into the vehicle and they don't get out of the vehicle to eat okay and these are these
life forms with squishy things on the inside and then a car hauler drives by that one is clearly
pregnant okay so so the book it is an attempt to get you just rethink the whole thing from and and
and here's one if if an alien kind of walks towards you and has these appendages don't
reach out and grab an appendage and shake it you don't know a part of the anatomy that is of the
alien and i don't think you want to find out yeah yeah you mentioned the tush push all right when
we ran the tush push did we actually affect the earth's rotational you did see the bed oh my god
i saw this
oh my god
i loved it oh my gosh okay now you know he is the tush push he's the he's the
he's the one pushing the tush
no no no no other you are the foundation of the tush push that's happening on your back
yes yes yes yes okay so i have two posts one is on nfl films they came here and they did a bit on it
and then we have a subset of that that we published as part of my podcast it's because my co-host chuck
is an eagles fan he's born and raised in in philly and so he couldn't get enough of this so so here's
the thing you have nothing if you're not connected to the earth nothing yeah
watch what happens the the the the urge of the defense is when they see the quarterback jump up
with the ball the quarterback is now airborne okay that is not connected to earth they will
jump up and try because there's a big mound of men beneath them they'll jump up to try to counter
that i love when they do that the most they can counter that is their own body weight right okay
so if they can jump it all make them 250 270 pounds where whatever is in that range that's
the highest force they can initiate against the quarterback because they're both airborne however
your airborne quarterback is connected to two people behind him one on each tush
yes they are they are connected to earth so they can now push not only with the weight of the
quarterback but they can push with their with their dead lift weight against earth and you all
are football players you can deadlift more than your own body weight right much more than your
own body weight so two people pressing against the earth are now pushing with 500 pounds each
the airborne person at this side doesn't stand a chance everybody in that mass of men who is not
touching earth is useless in what's happening so as long as the two pushers there could be one
pusher or two pushers it'll be more than anything they're putting against them you're going to push
the quarterback over and once the person commits to where the quarterback is the pushers can slide
the quarterback 18 inches to the right yes and the person who jumped against them has got they can't
move their body 18 inches to the left they can't do that because they don't have anything to push
against in wrestling and i did this with the the host from nfl films um i said i used to wrestle
watch this and i did a i did a body throw with him the moment he left the ground i can do whatever i
want with him right he's got nothing he can't push against anything he's just this ballistic thing
that i can put wherever i want so what makes the tush push unstoppable is the quarterback who is
functionally airborne is still connected to the earth and the pushing against the earth
the earth has to respond you have this mass of 300 pound men digging in oh by the way the bottom
layer by the way yes the quarterback is not only going where the he's getting pushed
this mat of men because you get to you know you know when you're hiking it
you get underneath their defensive line and you're digging against the turf and and so that whole
system is in motion so not only is the quarterback moving relative to the mound of men the mound is
moving that's why you'd be two yards away from first down you execute the first the tush push
the quarterback is five yards in on the other side how did that happen because the mound was
in motion in addition to the two yards that you were trying to get by pushing them over
so and we showed the video in slow motion and everybody who's not connected to the ground is
just falling off yep and and so yeah it's basically when properly executed it's it's
brilliantly conceived um and congratulations on on that 92 percent
has gotten harder what's the science on stopping it uh so you need to get at least as low
as the person plowing under you because once they plow under you you just get lifted up and you're
no longer connected to earth but do we need to as well as well so it's like two sumo wrestlers um
one if one tries to get low the other gets as low right they get low and they just come right
at each other they're both touching the mat so the the defensive line has to get as low as the
offensive line and you give the camera in there it's like you know the helmet is on the the
helmet is on the on the ground there's turf come to eat the turf okay the helmet is on the on the
ground there's turf come to eat the turf okay the helmet is on the on the ground there's turf come to eat the turf okay
the helmet is on the on the ground there's turf come to eat the turf okay i saw that
i saw that
i saw that yes they've got to get as low so that that
yes they've got to get as low so that that
yes they've got to get as low so that that offensive line does not move at all
offensive line does not move at all
offensive line does not move at all you all weigh the same you all can do the
you all weigh the same you all can do the
you all weigh the same you all can do the same
same
same deadlifts so you can prevent that line
deadlifts so you can prevent that line
deadlifts so you can prevent that line from moving and that prevents the mat of
from moving and that prevents the mat of
from moving and that prevents the mat of men from getting those extra five yards
men from getting those extra five yards
men from getting those extra five yards that'll stop that then whoever you're
that'll stop that then whoever you're
that'll stop that then whoever you're sending up to block the quarterback he
sending up to block the quarterback he
sending up to block the quarterback he needs a tush push he needs they need to
needs a tush push he needs they need to
needs a tush push he needs they need to touch okay and if the quarterback
touch okay and if the quarterback
touch okay and if the quarterback slides over you slide him over
he's your puppet your airborne puppet
he's your puppet your airborne puppet

thought i was stupid when i asked him if he ever wanted to go to space no no it was great it was
great it was good i don't know what he expected coming on here i immediately asked him i was just
like that was probably the stupidest question he's ever been asked what do you think of like
he wants to go to space what do you think of the moon this man thinks about space every day of his
life of course he we didn't yeah we have a lot of questions still on the table remember the
questions were so dumb i asked him one question of like somewhat serious he's like oh yes that's
a perfectly intelligent question it was like oh you got do you know what that is this isn't just
a fuck around okay uh so yeah i have a lot more questions left we didn't get to a lot of mine
and even that question
you
It wasn't about anybody.
It wasn't even great.
It was just like a fucking. These questions sound like they were written by somebody who skipped a lot of science classes.
Seems like we got a theater arts major behind the scenes here who's got a lot of learning to do.
Would you want me to ask him about nuclear fusion?
Would you want me to. Kevin Green used to shout, power equals mass times acceleration.
Why do you have a drill?
Because I'm bored and I'm trying. You got that more. Don't let us get in your way.
Because I'm bored.
It's just being a man.
He sees a drill and has to pick it up.
Give it a little.
Give it a little.
Give it a little.
I got to hear it.
This is the most dad thing I've ever seen you do.
Give me a couple.
You're literally at a. Yeah.
That's nice.
That's a good drill.
You're literally working right now and you saw a drill and was like, I need it.
In my. In my hands.
Drill something.
Do it.
Hold it higher.
Hold it higher.
Hold it higher.
Yeah.
Shit, I just lost it.
my bit oh no all right let's go all right we're supposed we're gonna do this top 10
we said earlier we're gonna start in the world of baseball brewers world series champions we're
gonna go to some fan reactions this is from at joey fucking miller on instagram at joey
fucking miller they allow you to make that kind of handle
look at how many holes are in the fucking ceiling regular season wild card that's hilarious
joey fucking miller where are we putting him is that even a play i don't know what to do with
this one
i just hope he doesn't hit a stud otherwise he's breaking his old
bold move i'm in love with that i'm also in love with the fact that the brewers won i know travis
soft subject with uh the guardians uh i just i'm a big fan of the fact that the team that
spent the most money didn't win the world series this year so i'm gonna go high personal shot
didn't even make it in the world series i know listen i'm a fan i didn't know i love i love
freddie
i love um a lot of the dodgers players i just we know where i stand on this and i'm not taking a
pair brewers i'm gonna put this one fan i loved it willing to uh joey fucking miller have to hire
out contractor work to replace drywall i will go you gotta keep that what we should put drywall on
we should sell punching walls on kelsey clubhouse i have never done that in my life
nobody in this call has done this
all right uh what do you think three i think that's i should be up there that's a good that's
a good fucking bit all right i can go three three first one comes along congrats joey fucking miller
this one um this one got sent to us by at pop takes on twitter it is a play that i think jason
you know is coming this is from the cardinals game ah it's definitely the best play from a
center i think i've ever seen
watch watch from the center i think it's the best play from the center i've ever seen
oh i saw this this is oh
a twofer that's a twofer a dribbling a dribbling that's down the field that's a welcome to the
nfl moment for the uh the old ohio state first rounder right there i mean it's just an incredible
high and i know there's a lot of people online to discrepancy people like oh he hit him he hit
him in the back that's a textbook block in the back listen it ain't like caleb didn't see him
coming like he was kind of like giving him his back like i'm not whatever i don't care i don't
care if it is a block in the back that dude ran 30 yards down the field threw him on the ground
and then hit him again on the ground i'm all in on that as a fucking top play i don't it didn't
get called fuck yeah i love it didn't get called um it's not penalty two two it's the highest i'm
ever gonna put offensive lineman listen we've done we've done this too many times and got
and had to settle for number one that wasn't so eric higher picks i'm with you have you
when's the last time you saw an offensive lineman have a highlight like that uh when jason kelsey
played for the philadelphia i never had a highlight like that that was insane yeah you did they just
called the block in the back they did jeremy macklin it was very similar yes jerry macklin
and i didn't think that was what listen the spirit of the block in the back penalty is that
the guy doesn't see you coming so you're hitting him when he's not aware that you're there caleb
you can't just turn your back and like oh hit me in the back good no call good no call all right
two two all right this one got sent to me from don bartlett don bartlett hall on twitter this

legs give me some fun shit i'm always online brandon thank you
and that's the hashtag tag brandon i don't love that uh victor romanyama off the glass to himself
dynamite and an inbound steal is that not a travel no he's just eight feet
so it looks like he's traveling no but if you throw it all i thought it i guess it's only the
free throw that it has to touch the rim i didn't this feels like
should almost be illegal to like throw it off the glass and run and fucking get back up he did it
no it's a rebound yeah a lot of people have done it fair enough fair enough i love that he's like
the rim is in his hands and his foot is already on the fucking ground it's just fucking insane
it's incredible well done they should just keep doing that i don't know how you defend it
uh four four it is four four all right you're on the board wimby we're gonna go to

FAQs
A straw has one hole topologically, as the hole is defined by the surface connectivity, not by the two ends. Even if you imagine it as a cave with entrances and exits, it's still considered a single hole.
Neil deGrasse Tyson firmly believes the moon landings were real and states that conspiracy theories lack scientific evidence. He uses physics, camera technology, and real-world examples like lunar exposure and Earth's curvature to debunk them.
The Earth's curvature explains why some football games are played in sunlight while others are in darkness, especially when teams are in different time zones. This is a simple way to demonstrate that the Earth is round.
Laying down on a beach with your feet facing sunset and standing up immediately after the sun sets can show the sun reappearing due to the Earth's curvature, proving the planet is not flat.
These theories often stem from a lack of scientific understanding. When people don't see the evidence, they rely on simplified or misleading explanations, leading to claims like 'we didn't go to the moon.'
Science provides testable explanations. When faced with claims lacking evidence, such as fake moon landings, science responds with verifiable data, like camera exposure settings or the presence of moon rocks, to refute myths.
