(upbeat music) - Hey members. - It's Josh and Lindsay here. - We're so excited to have you back with us for another episode of the membership exclusive with her.media. - A place where we can come to discuss how every Costco trip tells a story. - If you have fun with us today, be sure to subscribe to join the conversation further. - We'd love it if you'd share the podcast with other fellow card holders. - Now, let's dive in together and read the receipts. - Hey, hey, hey. - Merry Christmas. - Happy holidays, happy podcast day. - Oh, they're gonna say happy Christmas. Like they do in Harry Potter. - Happy Christmas. - You're wearing a Harry Potter sweater again. - Oh, wait. - Oh no, I am. That's a good reference. - That's really sad. I am an out there repeater. - I know, they say happy Christmas in Harry Potter. - Yeah, well, it's like an English thing. Happy Christmas. - Oh, I never watched it before. - What? - You're crazy. - I know, hey, Brock, I have a bonus pick with you before we get started. - Oh boy. - But, do you know what Brock did? I don't think that many people listen all the way through. - What? - But, if you listen-- - Oh, he's been adding little bonus clips then. - Blupper reels at the end of our podcast. - I know, I wonder if people are missing it, but it's like the best part of the whole episode. - And literally laughed is actually, I'm not mad at Brock 'cause it was funny. - It was super funny. - So people left. - He took things that we said like before we actually recorded and then like added them to the last, I think two episodes at the very end, like after our outro. - After the outro music, yeah. - Oh my goodness. - I just, I was listening and I was like distracted and so I just let the outro music play when we were listening to it back. I had no idea that he put it in there, but he snuck it in there and it was actually hilarious. - Yeah, I was like looking forward to it because he made a joke that he was gonna put it in the end and then yeah, I kinda sound, I made a fool of myself, but it's okay. You guys go back to the last episode and listen to what kind of shenanigans I say off air because it's a mess for a best. - Well, I think people, I think they think that we do like a ton of post editing and we don't. - Yeah, you guys, we literally hit play or a Brock hits play and we just talk and I mean, I'm not discrediting. Brock does a lot of work. Like he's like killer for us and does amazing things, but like from a sense of like he's not like changing up our words or we're not like starting stopping. Yeah, like if anything, we've like started and kinda tripped over our words at the beginning like our intros and they'll be like, "Ah, well we're gonna restart that." But no, for the most part we just hit play and go. - It was fun though, it was funny Brock, good job. - Yeah, that was super funny. - To pick with you, but this is a really exciting week for us, you're right, it is our last episode of For Christmas, so that's gonna be fun. - I know, by the way, Christmas is a week and a half away at this point. - It doesn't even feel like it. - Or like a wee, a little over a week. - I mean, do either kind of feels like it and we'll talk about that in a second, but like. - I know. - 'Cause I'm fresh off the airplane and this is not. - Well yeah, I know, we have so many things to talk about, but like are you ready for Christmas? - Not even close. - Neither am I, I still so much shopping to do. - I've done about zero shopping so far. - Zero? - Probably, well I've bought like three things. - Oh my gosh, well you better get on it. There's the shipping is about, like if you're gonna be ordering stuff online, like nothing's gonna be shipped to you here in a minute, you're gonna be buying all your gifts at Costco this year. - Well I do anyway, I did sneak in last night and I grabbed one thing for my son, but aside from that I'm kinda cooked on this whole deal. - Oh no. - Well it'll all work out in the end, I'm pretty sure. - You know who else is gonna get presents this week? - Who? - Our winners from our giveaway. - Oh I know, yes, so we did our November giveaway for all the people who donated on behalf of the Open Door mission for a podcast and we were super excited to give back to you guys and today this is the week that you get to pick them up. - So it starts on the 15th right Monday, right? And it goes through, so today technically 'cause this recording will release tomorrow. - Right, right. - Through Friday, so if you're listening to the podcast on Tuesday morning, you only have a few days left. - Go to her about her not sports bar. - Her bat. - Her bat. - Her not sports bar in La Vista, right by the La Vista Costco. - You pick it up, bring your ID. - Yep, bring your ID, they will let you pick whatever price you want with some amazing prizes. - And you're gonna get what you get. - Which you get. - Get what you get and you don't throw a fit. - That's right, so hurry and grab your stuff. There's some cool stuff there. And then we're gonna throw all the names back in the hat and we're going to draw for the Kenny Bell helmet. - The grand prize. - The grand prize. - That's pretty cool. - That's really cool. Who doesn't want a Husker helmet for? - That's the best Christmas product. - Why do I feel like even when I remember getting this memory like back from one of our kids, and my brother was like six or seven, six seven years old. But he really wanted like all Husker gear and he got it. And it was, I mean, it was like a little kid stuff. We got like a jersey that year and like a kid like helmet. And I just remember him like running around the Christmas tree that year and he just like had his little Husker gear on and he was so excited. So I don't care if you're a kid or you're an adult. You get like a Husker gear. - It's like super cool. - It's a cool, cool prize. - Kenny Bell obviously signed it for us. - The Husker hands hooked us up. - It's amazing. - Yeah, so we're really excited to finally be able to give back to you guys. It's a little Christmas gift. Technically it was a Thanksgiving gift, but we're gonna give it a Christmas gift. So we both just kind of got back from vacation. - We did, really quickly. Can I talk about, let's just, let's talk about the elephant in the room right now. You guys, I am getting over quite an illness here. So if my voice sounds a little funny, that's why. I was actually hospitalized last week. But I'm good now. I'm still kicking. Can't take me down. Heck no. - What happened? What did you get sick with? - Well, do you want me to talk about my illness? - Yeah, kind of. - I had influenza A so badly. - Influenza A. - Yeah. - How is that different from any other flu? - Oh gosh. Well, there's, I know there's like different kinds of influenza. I like, I know there's B. I don't know how many letters there are actually. - I don't know, maybe two, but like I've never had influenza A. - But I've only had it one other time. It was eight years ago and it took me out then. It took me out now. And I like straight up, like no joke you guys could not breathe and had to be rushed to the ER because my airway closed. - It's awful. - And I couldn't breathe. - Well, I think you don't sound as bad as you think you sound. - Well, thanks. I'm like, this is like day eight or nine at this point. I'm well past the point of contagion now. I just sound like really stuffy in my voice. How many times do you think my voice will crack during this episode? - Well, I've already done it twice. - I'll do a little ticker here. I'll start counting for it. - I sound like a boy going to puberty. - Tell us where you went. - Oh gee. - Oh yeah, I hope I don't cough either. - No cough. - I'm okay guys, don't worry. That didn't take me down. No, so I went to New York City for Christmas. It smells because of dreams. - Yeah, I love New York City. And I've been in the summer in the fall, but I've never been in Christmas time. And that was like on my bucket list. I've always wanted to do that. So took my daughter for just, so we left two of our kids at home and went on a home alone. Not home alone. - Home alone Christmas. - Not home alone, but you know, we left them with grandparents. And then we took our oldest to go to New York City and showed her all around. But that is we got sick in New York City. So that was real. - That's not real kicker. But no, New York was amazing and it's beautiful. At Christmas time, it's all very busy though. - Did you do all the things? - All the things. - Rock and Feller Center, tree, we did Empire State Building. We had Central Park, the Plaza. Like everything that you have to do, that's like quintessential New York Christmas. Did it. - Did it, so I got to ask. - What? - Because this is, we're in Costco land. So when we talk quintessential. - Yeah. - How many Costco's do you go to? - Okay, but hear me out. - No. - Zero. - What? - I went to zero. But like I did, I was writing public transportation. I was taking the subway everywhere. I wouldn't rent a car obviously. You're in the city. - Okay. - You're in Manhattan or you stayed in Brooklyn. But I will say right before I went to New York, I saw something that came on my four-year page on social media that was like, one of the only like double-decker Costco's. Like the Costco with the two like levels to it is in New York. And it said it was in like Port Chester, New York. And I was like, I don't know where Port Chester is. It doesn't sound anywhere near Manhattan or Brooklyn. So I was like, ah, that's probably upstate or something. So I didn't even think about it. Well, whenever I got home, I looked it up again 'cause I was gonna talk about how I wanted to go to this double-decker Costco 'cause that would be quite the experience. And I googled it and it said there are two in New York. One is in Port Chester and the other one's in Brooklyn. And I was in Brooklyn. I was staying in Williamsburg. And that really, that really made me so sad. Apparently I was only two miles away from that double-decker Costco. And I did go. And what did I tell you before you left? I don't know. You told me a lot of things. You should go to Costco. And then I looked it up. And I'm like, oh my gosh, you're not that far. I had that four and a half days in New York City and I hit the ground running. And I was not only battling illness and so was my daughter the entire time. But like we were, we had a whole jam packed agenda of things that we were doing. So as much as I wanted to go to that Costco, I had I known it was two miles away from where we were staying. I probably would have gone. I'm not going to lie. I would have gotten up with a crack-a-don to go to this double. What do you think about a double-labeled Costco? Do you think that's a good idea? I mean, it's a space-saving idea. It's a great idea. I mean, you have to do it in compressed cities. The only double-decker store I've been to is the store with the Red Circle. Oh, yeah. And in Chicago, and it's weird, it's trippy. You put your little carts on the sort of weird escalator thing. Yeah, it's what I was going to say. And it, like, you go up with your cart. I think that sounds really fun. You squandered the opportunity. Well, yeah. I feel really like sad, if I were you. I do feel sad, but you're making me feel worse. But you did visit a Costco on your vacation. I did. I'm going to talk about that. So you went somewhere cold. Yeah. So cold, you guys. Some were packed and busy. And I did the exact opposite. And I flew the opposite direction by like three or 4,000 miles. I went to Hawaii. I took the kids to the Big Island. It's basically the only island that they haven't been to yet. So it was like, we wanted to check that last box and be done with Hawaii for a while. So we did that. We went to the Big Island and after a grueling trip. And you got to think, Ben. It's already a long trip. It's only six hours from the West Coast to Hawaii by plane. But to get from Omaha to the West Coast is sometimes a zoo. And so it was like, by the time-- first of all, it started horrifically. Your trip did? Yeah, no. I mean, it didn't start bad. I mean, just like timing was terrible. We were up until like two o'clock in the morning packing. But then we had to be up at 2.30 a.m. because the Uber was going to be there at 3 a.m. to pick us up for the airport. That's so early. That's friday. On 30 minutes of sleep, right? I don't know yet. We landed at 1.30 p.m. Which is 5.30 p.m. here. So we're already 14 hours into the day. And the first thing I wanted to do, which I'm sure my family appreciated, was hop off the plane and go to Costco. Oh, I'm sure it. Wait, that sounds like my Arizona trip. That's what I took quite a while in the air. And I was like, guys, we're going to go to Costco. But when you go to Hawaii, food is so expensive. So it kind of served two purposes. One, it was something cool we can talk about on the page and on the podcast. But also, you needed to bulk by before-- even if it's something like muffins, which we got, we did go. And I'll tell you right now, we actually bumped into two of the store directors last night. We talked to him about our experience. But man, Hawaii time is a real thing. And I don't know that I can deal. Like the checkers are so-- imagine Dodge times three, right? Dodge is like-- Like size-wise, you mean? Just like busy-wise, right? The place is packed. The food court, there's like four different lines. They're all 20, 25 deep. And every single employee is moving at the speed of nothing. Well, maybe because, yeah, they're on island time. They don't care. But island time is-- I don't know, man. Is island time like a real thing or is like-- I don't-- I've never been to Hawaii. I know what I've been doing in a real thing. Is it like an excuse for complacency? I don't know. I don't know. He's like, you guys, I am here. I need you to check out my groceries. I'm serious, man. Like, I was just like, ooh. So anyways, that store was super, super busy. So we talked to the store director at Maple last night. And you told him that you went to a Hawaii Costco. And he mentioned that one of the islands, Costco's Awahu, has the highest grossing-- Like $600 million a year. A year and sales. And we were talking about it casually. And I was like, it has to be because, honestly, the price of groceries is there. It's just so expensive. And that's one thing I will say is like, by comparison, and the whole week I was there, all I could do was compare prices of local stores and gas stations back to that of Costco. And it makes total sense. Why everyone shops there? Yeah, but like-- Do you think that everyone in Hawaii is a Costco member? A thousand percent. They have to be. They have to be. Because they would be like losing out on money if they weren't a Costco member. 100% yes. Yes. But honestly, I was actually thinking to myself as I was getting ready this morning. I was like, if I could visit any Costco in the world, actually Hawaii's up there for me, if I'm being honest with you. Because all that fresh fish and pogey and sushi, but the fruit, I'm such a fruit junkie. I would kill for a really good mango or something like that. All that delicious. I'm sure they have all these crazy tropical fruits there. Yeah, the produce section in the cooler actually had locally grown Hawaiian fruit. It was really cool. Wow. Did you buy a bunch of that? Because that's all I would have paid down on that. We brought some fresh mango. We brought-- because again, we're at this point now. 15-- there's a whole story about the car rental. That was-- we literally walked from the airport to the car rental place. Because there was no room on the shuttle. It was-- we're all dressed in Nebraska clothes, but it's 85 degrees outside. Oh, no. Drenched in sweat. So anyways, we're now an hour, 15 or 16. So we're buying dinner here. So we got sashimi. We got all sorts of bulk items. And that's what we kind of lived off of the first night. Yeah, no, that's brilliance, getting all the-- The reason I like to do it, though, is because not only do you get to have a different experience and see different things, but it also kind of gives you a little bit of insight to local culture, the types of foods that they buy. And obviously, on the islands, there's a huge Asian influence, right? And so you could see tons of food that you would never ever see here. I mean, I'm keen to those types of flavors. Yeah, did you have anything that really stuck out to you? That was really unique or that you got to try. All the Asian foods were just stuff that you would never, ever find here, except for probably the water to Asian markets and Omaha. But it was a good trip. That's amazing. Well, I'm really happy for you. I feel like it's weird that we're talking about a Christmas episode, and then you're talking about like being on an island and tropical vibes and everything. All the palm trees were wrapped in Christmas lights, while you were ice getting-- I know. I was in shorts in the tank time. I do like being-- I don't like being cold, and I do like being warm, but at Christmas, specifically, I would have a hard time going somewhere tropical, and not feeling like it's Christmas time. There was the last night, but before we left, we literally ate with our toes in the sand, surrounded by palm trees wrapped in Christmas lights. See, but December 26th, you put me on a flight somewhere warm. I will go as soon as it hits, December 26th. I'll tell you, though, before we left on vacation, this is funny. So I'm sure lots of folks do this. But before you leave, especially for an extended amount of time, you try to get through all your groceries. Milk and bananas, these things that would go bad. You know what I had to do before we left? What? We had the grandparents come home to like, dogs sit for us while we were gone. OK. I had a way in heck I was going to board my dogs. And I had to buy like $400 in groceries before I even left. Like, I emptied my fridge, but then I bought-- Why for them? For them. Oh, they like stayed at your house? Yeah, the whole time. Oh, I didn't know that. Wow. Well, that's very generous of you. Well, just like, it was kind of counterintuitive. Like, I just got rid of all my groceries. Right. And I had to go buy more groceries. You just saved all your, like, things are going bad for your in-laws. I feel like, hey, guys, it was just food. It was good, though. They didn't eat half of what we bought for them, but that just means I had less shopping to do when I got home. Well, yeah, speaking of which, every time I get back from a trip, I do the same thing where I, like, clear out my pantries or we, like, plan to, like, eat out, like the night before something. So we're not, like, buying groceries and cooking the night before we leave. So that when we get back from a trip, there's, like, nothing. It's, like, bear. I have no bananas. I'm, like, down to, like, oatmeal and, like, canned vegetables, you know what I mean? And actually, it was really unfortunate at this time, because I got back from New York. And I was so ill that I didn't leave the house for, like, a week. So I still haven't, like, done my full Costco shopping. You should buy it. And I've been home for a week now. Like DoorDashy, one of the, or Instacarding from Costco. Okay, I've never done that before. I know people do that. And is it Costco is, like, a thing, a place where you can Instacard from? Heck yeah. But I just, I don't know. I'm not a big, like, DoorDashy, or UberEats person, or Instacard. Like, I, I'm, like, a grit, grit-gritty person. I don't know what I was saying. Grin and Barrett type person. Grin and Barrett, like, I will, I could be deathly ill. And I will put on a mask and I will go get my groceries. Or I'll do, I don't know, I'll figure it out. I'll ask somebody to go to the store for me. But in this instance, our house is still pretty bare, like, a week back from our trip. And we still, I, I need to go to Costco today. Same season. Like, when we're done recording, I go to Costco and replenish my house. Well, I owe you an apology. Well, please, yeah, I know. Keep it coming, keep it coming. You know, so, remember last week or two weeks ago, we talked about, um, we'll talk a little bit more about it today, like our gift guides. Oh, yes. Yes. We talked about complainer or gift guide. There's, there's so many things that you talked about, but yeah, what about last, last time? So that last podcast, episode 13, you brought up luggage and I'm like, oh, yeah, the best gift of all. You've been brought to me. That was a great gift. I'm like, I give you so much crap about, uh, about luggage because like I've had the same luggage forever. And every kid in our family has had the same like carry-on luggage. Uh-oh. Did you get all shames because you had old beat up luggage when you went to Hawaii? No. In fact, I actually, it's, again, it was just a super busy week that week. We didn't, and normally, you know me, like, I'm a, I like to plan ahead and I'll be packed. I can pack two days in advance and not care. But for whatever reason, this didn't work for me this time. And so I went downstairs to the basement to grab all of our luggage and we're missing luggage. Missing? Like the little roll-ups, like, cannot find them anywhere. I got at the basement. Oh, no. And so I actually had to at the very last minute. You went to Costco to buy luggage? Costco was closed. No. I know. So I had to go somewhere else to give it. And it was probably really expensive, wasn't it? It was very expensive. The luggage is so expensive. Yeah. And so, do you remember when I told you was like the, whatever the price was then it was like $50 off of that? Yeah. Like it was such a good deal. Yeah. Well, now, I mean, like I'm eating crow now because, um, well, things for at least, like, uh, I mean, Brock and I kind of feel bad for you, but kind of not. I know. So I had to go out and buy some stupid, cheap-ass thing from the, from your- Oh, no. Now you're going to keep that for another 25 years. I know. I mean, it's, it'll work, but like, I should- That's sad. Well, I got to go with all my shiny new Costco luggage to New York and it was great. Hmm. Congratulations. Thank you. No, I'm sorry that that happened to you. But in reality, luggage is a great gift and people will thank you for years to come if you have a last minute. But now I don't need it. So don't buy it for me. Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. Perfect. One last question. Christmas question. Then we'll, um, maybe talk- start talking through like our gift guides or something like that. We have a couple different things to talk about here today, but, um, do you send out Christmas cards? Absolutely not. Why not? I don't know. Have you ever? Has your family ever- You never, never once. The whole like- So if I don't get a Christmas card from you this year, like, I'm not like- You're one of thousands that aren't going to get- Okay. I was going to say, like, it's not like I'm excluded from a list. No, don't feel offended that I didn't send you one. I just don't. Okay. Well, I used to every single year. Did you like take pictures with your family? Like, yeah. We would get like pictures taken and I would curate them and like, you know, do a whole like collage of whatever. And I would make them look really nice. And I get the ones that feel like really thick almost like cardboard and the like, you know, rounded edges like beautiful, beautiful. And then like a couple of years ago, my kids just decided that they hated taking pictures. That's where we're at. Totally because I- I'm like a photographer, like a lay photographer. I literally take pictures of everything. My social media is like all photography stuff. Like whether it be people or places or travel or food. I love taking pictures. And I just think like my kids came out the womb. And I was like, I'm going to start taking your picture every two seconds. And then they just got over it, like, over-simulated. And so, you know what? I'm not going to be like- Well, there's like that in- I shouldn't joke about this. That Ruby Frankie. She was like, she was like an influencer mom that like tortured her kids. That's a horrible situation. But she like forced them to make- That's her dark. Sorry, sorry, sorry. But she like forced them to make content even when they didn't want to. That's the point I'm trying to get across. And I was not about to do that. So I was like, okay, if you guys don't want to take pictures, I will- That's okay. I'll take pictures of, you know, other things. And you guys will never force you to take a picture. Because for maybe once a year, we'll take like an Easter picture or something. So now I'm realizing we don't have any family pictures. So I can't even do Christmas cards. Because I have no family pictures of all five of us together. That's actually a good point. Yeah. Like I literally looked through my entire camera roll. I went through, we had taken one selfie of all five of us when we were in Arizona. We were in bathing suits. You think I'm going to put myself in a bathing suit on 30 Christmas cards? Absolutely not. So I had to go back and like I got like a first day of school picture. And what I ended up doing is because it wasn't like that great of a picture. Like as far as something that people would want to display like a normal beautiful Christmas card. I did, I got Christmas cards from Costco this year. They sold a package of 40 holiday cards. And I'm just going to print out a picture and like put it in there like old- Like, I don't know, I feel like that's what old people do. That's not so bad. I'm getting old. But like, I'm just going to be like, maybe Christmas. I might like type up a little like synopsis of our year and like put it in there. And I include one of our our back to school pictures for the kids. But no, they were like a snoopy. It was like a peanuts set of cards. And I've always like thought that peanuts is like a cute little holiday thing. And so yeah, there's there's a pack of 40 cards. Well, you're a better human than I am. I just I don't know why I feel like I just don't have time for that stuff. I just don't. Well, no one has time for it. But you make time because people love getting Christmas mail. Do they? Yeah. Do they? So you're going to send me a card and then I'm going to like magnet it. I'm not going to send you on at all. You don't deserve anything. Theoretically, you would send it to me. And then I'm just going to like stick a magnet to my fridge. And then it's just going to hang there until next Christmas when I pull it down. Basically, it's what's going to happen. I'm dying. But that's like the lens I look at it. Like do people really care about our family? See, I will display Christmas cards until like new years. And then I take them down. And then what do you do with them? I throw them away. That's sad. Exactly. What do you want to say of other people? No. I expect people to dispose of my picture. But I just feel like it's a nice touch to be able to like have a picture with some words. Like just sending a card without any picture feels like empty. So yeah, I bought the Costco Christmas cards, but I still have to put a picture in it. Good luck, man. There's a lot. Do you remember when Costco had like a whole photo section? Didn't they get rid of that? Actually, I'm putting up a good point. I used to get my pictures at Costco. Yes. They don't have that anymore. You were right. But I think you can still order it online. I'm pretty sure. I'm 90% sure. Our members are going to have to check us on that one. But I do. I remember the day. This was like two years ago or something when my mom was like Costco's like closing down there. Their photo like area. And I don't know where I'm going to print my pictures. Like she was panicking because my mom always printed her pictures of Costco. So, yeah, that's my Christmas card story. I may get them out before Christmas. They may be New Year's cards. I'm not really sure. If it's a New Year's card, they're just going to open up and throw it right in the truck. Because it doesn't mean anything. It's rude. See. Okay, so we talked about our gift giving guides. And I was kind of like. Shovey last time. I had all my gifts and you were kind of sad. Because you wanted to talk about a few things. Well, that's true. Yeah. Yes. So I feel bad. So I'm going to like give you an opportunity today to just kind of like talk about some of the things that you're most excited about, or maybe something that caught your eye. Yeah. And if not, I've got plenty of things to talk about. You know what? I love. What? I'm going to start off. The amount of gift cards that you can buy at Christmas time. Oh, yes. At Costco because they have like the two for 50 or two 50-yard gift cards. And it's like $70. Yes. Or something like that. Yeah. And so you're basically getting $100 with the gift cards for $70. It's like the perfect stocking stuff. And there's a lot of local places that are represented at Costco and I love that they do that. Actually, I think you wrote down a bunch of the local places. Yeah. So the local restaurants at Costco actually just came out with one. It was like a, it's actually you can use them at all of his concepts, which is pretty cool. Pitches there, gather, back lot pizza, Sullivan Steakhouse, Sikies Garage is there. Spezia is there? Spezia. Spezia. Early bird. The one that I get every year without fail for my oldest daughter is the DoorDash and the Uber Eats. Oh, yeah. Those aren't local. I know. I mean, that's great for anybody who's like like 15 to 30. That's like the perfect gift. The amount of food that my daughter orders on DoorDash is ridiculous. So to me, I'm like, you know what? It's basically like a free meal. That's a great idea. Every single year. Well, that's a great, so I mean, if you're in a pinch. I mean, we're getting, we're counting down the Instagram. We're talking about the holiday gift guide. It really is. Like we went through and we were kind of scared. Like we're going to run out. Yes. I thought I was going to cough. Sorry. I just don't want to cough in everyone's ears here. But you know, getting someone a gift card is always a gift that someone is going, you know, that they're going to use. You can put it in a stocking. You can give it to an aunt that you don't know. Teachers? Like there's so many people that you can give those amazing gift cards to. And it's nice because some of them come in four packs of 25 and some of them come in two packs of 50. And so you can split them up as you see fit. They also have like a movie theater one. That was like two movie tickets and like a $20 gift card to the AMC theater. So it's a great stop to be able to get some last minute gift cards, for sure. When we walk through Lovista last night because that's where we went to kind of just jog our memories for this gift guide. One of the first things though that I saw was that Mrs. Myers had their like, you know I'm a big Mrs. Myers person. The cleaning stuff. The cleaning spray and the soap in the, I love the candles. I love all their stuff, but they have their holiday soaps out and they smell really good. There's like a gingerbread. Wait, did you buy soap for somebody? No. I just bought it for myself. Oh. But they have like really great sense and they have an Iowa pine one and I know you hate pine sentences. And I hate Iowa. What? I'm just joking. That's so mean. That's one of my favorite sense. But they have like a peppermint and snow drop and a gingerbread. And I just thought it was, they're just so cute in their packaging and I love the sense. And they have a little scratch and sniff stickers on the outside of the package. You need to smell right now. Barely. Barely. I can barely smell like. I can barely talk. And I'm like on the verge of coughing and I'm like holding it back you guys because I'm not about to blast out your ears with my, with my barkey cough right now. But one of the things I thought was a really cool Christmas gift is this skylight calendar. Oh, yeah. It is a screen. It's an all in one smart family calendar and it's almost like, you know, use your Google calendar or Apple calendar on your phone. And it's almost like can display that on this screen and you can put it in your kitchen or in some sort of like common space for your family. And that way your whole family is on track of what, you know, things that need to happen for, for the week. And you can sync multiple calendars. You can like create chore charts and make routines. I'm sure the gift of chores. I'm sure just with your kids. I love that. But you can make like you customize like lists of things that you can do. You can meal plan on there. Well, in this skylight calendar, like it's not available all the time at Costco. Like it goes away. Yeah. So. Perfect. Sorry. Okay, sorry guys. I had to cough there. That was rough. I was holding that one back for a while. But no, it goes away, right? Yes. So like now is the time to buy it or else it's gone. I know. For a considerable amount of time. I just feel like this would be the perfect gift for like a parent or a grandparent. We, I'll tell you, we handwrite all of our calendars. Okay. Okay, one but like I just, I could potentially like substantiate the cost. You know what? I haven't done it yet though. Why? Because the wire. Oh, that's true. It's like plug it in. I mean, you've got like an ugly wire on your wall. Unless, unless you put it like close to where the outlet maybe is. But I see what you're saying. That would be, I think it's really pretty. It almost looks like it's framed. It does. Like the product itself, the skylight calendar, is really pretty. But I understand if you don't want it to be plugged in. You don't want this like electronic thing on your, in your kitchen. I totally get that. But I think it's the full price of it is 269. And then at least the last time I checked it also had a $50 rebate off. So it was like 219. So that's a really great gift. I think that that could be for sure for like a parent or a grandparent. That'd be great. What else? Well, another thing. So something that I got for Christmas last year from Costco. That I would gladly receive again. I got these Bose headphones. They're like quiet comfort headphones. And I mean, Bose, I know we're both Apple people, like 100%. I have Apple everything. But like when it comes to speakers, Bose is one of the most classic, like best sound out there in my opinion. And I have these. They're like noise canceling headphones. And they haven't been white and in black actually. They're the overcar ones right now. And the over the year ones and the sound is amazing. I will say to their wireless, you know, they synced your Bluetooth. And I wear them to the gym. And I actually took them with us on our New York trip. Okay. I use my AirPods, but I gave these Bose ones to my daughter. And she watched like movies and stuff on them. And she thinks they are very comfortable. Like I have nothing but great things to say about these Bose quiet comfort headphones. Okay. And they're also pretty good price. They're like, I don't know, $150, $160. Yeah, you can do the over the ear thing. Really? I can't. I don't know why. You're just like an AirPods head. Look, my head's big enough already. I don't need something else to make my head look bigger. I've been looking at me right now. I was like, wait, you have headphones on right now. Yeah. But that's because we're recording. I can't, I can't do it. That's so funny. I know you have something that you want to talk about. That's really random on your list of gift guides. Look, man. I'll tell you, I bought this for kind of like for myself, but like I bought it for the whole family last year. And it sounds so cheesy, but like I, whatever, you guys can make fun of me. But Sonic hair toothbrushes, man. You love your Sonic hair toothbrushes. I love my Sonic hair. Why not? And I've got a lot of times that we've been to Costco together. He's like, I love that toothbrush. I'm like bro. And you still brush your teeth like a caveman with an old-fashioned toothbrush. I use bamboo toothbrushes to be economically friendly. What? Eco-friendly. Eco-friendly. Not economically. No, no, no. I guess it could be that too. But no, like so right now they've got the diamond clean two pack for $100 off. Yeah. So you can get a two pack for $180. So I bought the whole family toothbrushes last year where they excited no. But like they still use them to the day. Yeah, they do. Well, the kids like, you know what driving me bananas? What? I swear, I'm like the only one in the family that uses it right. Like they still like, you guys can't see this. Oh no. They still brush like regular. Like an old toothbrush. But it's pulsating. Yeah, but like the vibrations are whatever is supposed to clean your teeth. Yeah. Not to like the hand action, right? This is like- I think I went to a combination of both. No. I think I would let the bristles clean my teeth. I want to know what other people do. No, like you just have it. If you use a regular toothbrush or like an electric toothbrush. I have a regular toothbrush. Okay. You guys are both cavemen. No, I just like to switch out my toothbrush very often. These come with a replaceable head thing, right? And you can just order them online just to replace just the heads. And it works. And they have different settings. Right. They come with little travel pouches. You're about this close to convincing me to getting one. I'm telling you, your teeth will never be clean. You've been talking to me about the toothbrush for a minimum of six months. A problem. Of our friendship. I think- Well, given that every dentist ever that I've been to says- Oh, you need to get like one of the- One of those sonic sonic ones, because they really clean your teeth so much. You're like two day though. How many? I'm like, I don't doubt that they do. I just don't want to spend the money. I know. But these are a hundred bucks off right now, right? And they're like, top of the line. It's like, that's the best sonic care that you can get. Well, I'm sure. And it comes in like a couple of different colors. So there's a black and a pink one that you can get. It's like a rose gold, a white, a black and like a silver. Yeah, there's like four different colors, I think, last time I checked. So like everybody in the family could get a different color. Actually, funny enough, my seven year old son told me that he wanted electric toothbrush and Christmas. Really? In this whole time, you've been- Every time you go to Costa, you're like, oh, I should get these blue-y toothbrushes. I know. I'm such a- Ooh, this is like one of my biggest faults, I will say. I am clean. Like a clean freak to a fault. We're like, it actually tips the scale of me being not as eco-conscious as I could be. Because I have a really hard time, for example. Sorry, my voice is starting to go out. You guys. Like, I use a lot of paper towels, for example. Because to me, it's cleaner because I'm disposing of them afterwards. And I'm not like, we're using the same cloth over and over or something like that. You know, like the example of like, you know, we're using a toothbrush that you can change the tip off of. But like, for some reason, I just like to have a fresh clean toothbrush. Like, there's a lot of disposable type things like that that I will do just for the sake that it feels a little cleaner to me. That's a wild way to say, I brush my teeth like a caveman. Just try it. I think everyone, almost everyone brushes their teeth or the regular teeth brush. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Wait a sec. So, do you- Do you got, like, never mind. I'm gonna be gonna ask a question. Oh, okay. I can't even, like, segue into that. Okay, I forgot it. Okay, here's another gift idea that I saw at Maple. This is an electric wine set. It's one of the, like, rabbit ones. And it's, it's like a wine opener. And it's only like, it was on sale for $29.99. That would be a good one. It's a five-piece little wine set that I feel like you could, that's another thing you could give to just about- Yeah, it's pretty much the wine lover. It's a very, like, classy gift, elegant gift that you could give someone who doesn't need- Who doesn't need a, you know, a beautiful wine set to kind of go? You can even pair that with a bottle of wine. Costco has an amazing selection of wines. I don't know anything about wine. I don't either, but we do have a wine and spirits guru that we could go to if we really needed to. We're like, hey, you know, I'm shopping for this certain person. This is kind of wine that they like. Costco has very friendly people working in their wine and spirits section. And I'm sure you could always ask for a recommendation for a bottle of whiskey or a bottle of wine. Or something like that that you think that someone would enjoy. Let me ask you this. What? Do you, when you buy- What? When you buy, like, four practical gifts. Okay. I'll ask this a different way. Do you tend to lean towards more practical things or more, like, wild factor type things? I'm kind of like a more practical type person. I think- Oh, that's a good question. I think- Let me give you an example. I think I am too. But I think I'm a little bit of both. Because I wanted to be practical with a wild factor. I know. But so, like, this is the time of the year we're like, and maybe this is like an Omaha thing. Because it's definitely wasn't a Hawaii thing. What? We'll never know if it was a New York thing. But they always come out with, like, all the heated, like, everything. The heated vests, heated jackets, heated socks, heated gloves, and then all the little hot pads and stuff. So I bought the heck out of those this year for people. Yeah. Well, I know you talked about the heated seats for your in-laws. That's true. I did buy that, too. Exactly. So many heated things. Well, we live in a tundra. We really do. Speaking of that, I feel like, again, you can also give people slippers. You can give anybody- What? Those, like, dream foam or whatever. If you got me slippers, man, that's like handing out the popcorn at Halloween. Who doesn't want slippers? The same people that don't want luggage. I've never worn a slipper in my life. I don't want slippers. Okay. Well, I'm going to be honest with you. I wear slippers every second that I'm in my house. Really? Yes. Really? You're a shoes-in-house person? Slippers so that I can be wearing something in the house because my feet get really cold. Socks. Heated socks. What? They'd probably make them. That's weird. That's really weird. But no, I feel like- The thick wool socks. Yeah. Costco sells those. I actually got those from my daughter too. People that walk around their house barefoot are heathens, though. I don't walk around barefoot when I walk around in socks. Well, I'm a slipper person. I walk around barefoot. Oh, man. I get hot. I do, too. I sleep without socks on obvious people. No, you're the type of person that sleeps with socks on. 100 and 20.5%. I do not. I would- I think I would suffocate and die if I slept with socks on. Oh, it's the worst. It is the worst. But no, I wear slippers and you can get me a new pair of slippers every year and I will be happy. Here's one last thing. This is like a- Like, if you've got like a teen, this is a thing that's like very, like, quickly coming on the market. What? And it's actually a surprise to see it at Costco. This is my last thing. Like, so you have a teenage son who happens to be a gamer. Mine is they come out, they came out with like these haptic vests. So like- Oh, what? A haptic vest. Okay. What does that mean? So like, if you're playing like a Call of Duty, I don't game at all. But like, you put this little vest on and like, when you get shot in the game or whatever, like it buzzes wherever you get shot. Okay. This is the thing you were telling me about yesterday. Yes. I pointed to it because I was like, what is that? And then you said it and I didn't know. And you go, that's if you get shot in the back and I go, what? What is Costco selling? No, so it's like gaming. It's for gaming. Yeah, yeah. You made it sound like it was like like a- Maybe you just weren't listening. Or something. No, no, no, no. You just weren't listening. But it's so no. So it's like, I'm seeing them all over my newsfeed now on my social media. It just makes the game feel more realistic. Yeah, basically. Like, you know how like some people like drive and they sit in their little seats and they vibrate and stuff. You probably don't. Your kids don't game yet. But like, so like this is like a vest that you can wear. Like it makes you feel like you're more, so I saw it last night at Costco. Okay. That's good for a gamer. That's a really good gift. Oh, that is a great gift. Hey, Josh, I want to take a quick pause from our episode to talk to you about Gary's quick steak. thinly sliced sirloin steak, premium cuts, perfectly portioned. Lindsay, you know what I love about Gary's? I can pull it right from the freezer and it's sizzling in minutes. No thawing, no hassle. Which is huge because by the time you usually decide that you're hungry, it's already too late. Exactly. And it's versatile, cheese steaks, nachos, tacos, even stir fry. Game day, weeknight dinners, it all works. Just flip, sizzle and savor. Gary's quick steak, grab it in bulk at a Costco near you. Speaking of which, you said, well, I want to make a list of things that would be terrible gifts to give people. I said, there's something. Why would we talk about that on the podcast? Just so you guys know, I protected you from that. Because he literally wanted to talk to you guys about what gifts not to buy. Oh my god. Speaking of which, you put like wire on here. You're like, look, it's like a giant spool of wire. Like, it buys wire. And it's like with the Christmas stuff too. I know. Someone who wants to prank a coworker. It's like a giant spool of like 12 to a wire gift for the electrician in your life. There you go, put that sucker in the tree. It's so true. But no, I spared you guys from that segment. I was going to be fine. Do you guys buy gifts or stocky suffers for pets? But I don't know who I said to you guys. Like, I'm talking to like our listeners. Because my kids have been like begging me to get, we only have bunnies now. And they were like, can we get like stocking suffers for the bunnies? And I was like, what the heck do you buy a bunny? I don't know. But there is a ton of stuff at Costco for like dogs and cats. OK? Carrots. Carrots. I can buy them a thing of carrots. First of all, I'm surprised your bunnies are still alive. Stop it. You guys, my bunnies are so sweet and we love them a lot. At least the words did you build their little house for them yet? Yeah, we got. Don't worry about it. Are you going to buy your dogs, Christmas gifts? Or like Christmas vests? Do you, the kind of version like clothes, your dogs? So let me tell you this. OK. So first of all, last year I cloked them in the Kirkland hoodies. Because why wouldn't you? Yeah. I cannot stand my dogs. I'm not saying I'm not an animal person. My dogs are just terrible dogs. They stink. They're not fun. They don't do anything. They're not fun. They don't listen. One still wears a diaper and he's like six years old. And suspenders. I think I've told you guys this. But my kid's, man. Oh. Every year. I got to get something for them. Yeah. It's like it's always two toys. I haven't. Gosh, this is almost embarrassing. Because I'm not a dog guy. OK. But like last year we got the little advent calendar. My daughter every morning woke up and she got frank and Carl. She brought up. I bet they were so excited. Your dogs are probably like, yeah, I love Christmas. Every morning. That's really funny. My youngest woke up and she ran to her advent calendar, which we get every year from Costco. Actually, they get two advent calendars every year. One's like the candy one and one's like the little toy one. Yeah. Because last year, I think it was last year at Costco. I had like the squish mellow advent calendar. So she had that. And then she would get up the little frank and Carl got there. That's so cute. They're advent calendars. But like this year, I haven't. Yeah. Well, that's OK. Yeah. And then we got, actually from other places from Costco. Like my youngest, she got a makeup one. And I won't take that from them. Ooh. I want to make a bad one. I want to make a bad one.
