Last one to the airport by breakfast. Day one, day one. Well, they had some crazy ass leak from a fucking, uh, from a background actor, bro. That shit was fucking insane, bro. He went on, yeah, bro. He went on, he, he was on set. I guess he was a police officer, some shit, and um, uh, he went on Facebook. And literally posted like a whole page of the sides, bro, like, oh, yeah, this is what's happening. I was a background actor for origins one day. And this is my day on set. And what was the set saying? They said the fucking what else is going to happen with somebody leaks some shit from what we should be, bro. They probably had nothing to go to low suit or some shit right now. Yeah, if you're a background actor, do not ever do that, please. Bro, he's cooked. He's never going to be background ever again. Yeah, he's never working. He's never working on a set every. It was like, it's fucked because I get it, though, because it was like, you know, especially post strike. Everybody's excited to go to work and post the things we had somebody that was like actually on the cast when we first started origins. Do the same fucking shit essentially. No, everybody's like, yo, yo, fix it. It was bad. No, bro. It was right before, um, it was actually, it was two situations. It was one where Charlie posted his script and it's seen, uh, Gerita's name plate in the back. So everybody lost their shit. Everybody's like, oh my god. Gerita come here, turning this whole like girl scrub it, delete it. Charlie. Well, I mean, it wasn't like he posted the whole shit. It just was like, aw, I know, but now I should be wicked. Like, when you post into like that, you got to look at the background. You got to make it. What's kind of wild though is how fast the like, I guess maybe five, 10 years ago, that wasn't a thing. So how fast the entertainment industry is evolving is like, oh, now publicists are like, oh, we got to worry about people recording this actual scene itself. Like, yeah, it's kind of wild. Shit is wild. Yeah. Shit is wild. There was some stuff going on. I don't know. They said, bro, stupid ass backgrounds. I'm like, damn, bro. This is a lot going on. That's what happens out there, man. It's been fun though. It's been cool. So you're done with, you're done with Canaan. Uh-huh. And now you're on the origins. But okay, so Canaan had just, we saw the finale. We obviously saw what happened. When you were getting these scripts this season, were you like, what was going through your head? What the fuck? What the fuck? It's been crazy. We talked about origins. No, no, we can't. Obviously we can't talk about Canaan's origins yet. To be totally honest, because we shot that Canaan shit like two years ago. I don't remember any of it. That is so crazy. People don't realize that. All the time. All the time. People ask because I'm like, bro, we filmed that two years ago. So much has happened. Like, we be locked in. But we not that locked into the world. We're remembering scene by scene two years ago. Because you have so much going on right after. It's too much going on, bro. I will say watching, was it episode six, five? They just came out. The one where we're Marvin B. Canaan asked. That actually was kind of fun to share. Like, that was, it was an all day thing. But like, it was, it was dope getting to watch it all come together. And then, like, you said, we locked in when you actually shooting it. So when it actually happened, I was like, oh, shit. All right. Cool. And now that's like the another part of the transformation for the character. So it was like, it was dope to watch it technically shot, but also to add the layers of like storyline beats to mine. And he was like, you know, it's so funny. It fits. He's like, you ain't never forget to ask being like that. Was that the worst Canaan's ever gotten his ass beat in the show? I'm pretty sure. Yeah. I'm pretty sure. Because nobody else is going to try him. Like, that's, I think that's why I was also poetic. Marvin did it because it's like, nobody else is going to try him. Like that because they don't want to deal with him, but they definitely don't want to deal with his mother. Right. Right. Nobody else has the balls to do it other than his uncle. Yeah. And it was, it was coming. One of his crazy is we, you and me pulled up to this scene where, what is that? I don't know. When they were shooting it, remember we went to set, I think it was, I think it was the last day filming. I don't know if it was that scene though. I don't know. I don't remember what scene it was. Yeah. Because it was two years ago. I know so long ago. But remember, we have that picture on set with all of us. And I thought that was like the scene. No, yeah, we pulled up the last day. What a journey. Did you think it would go? Did you think? All right, bro. You did five seasons. And then now you're doing more seasons ever. Did you, do you think that was going to happen? No, bro. I mean, I didn't really have any expectations of where the shoot was going to go for real. It was kind of just like, okay, they're going to raise Canaan. And obviously at some point it's going to transition into what people really want to see with the Tommy and Ghost of it all. So it was just like, yeah. Then they came around and were like, so yeah, you going to come rock with us? I said, all right. Cool. So point like, once I think it's like, once you're like, obviously the first season, you don't really know what to expect. But then the first season does well. And then once you get renewed for the second season. And then the second season does well. Then you like, I bet this is going to be on for at least four years. You feel me like, I think that's like, that's kind of what I felt when we got renewed for Ghost of Second year. I'm like, all right, they rock with it. Second season, they rock and with it even more. So it was like, it's bound to, you know, go at least four years. And that's when you start flying, Ghost of Turg. You have a girlfriend right now? We all in that same state. It's all, yeah, I'm like, no girlfriend. But do you think it's, do you think it's hard to juggle, like being in a relationship and being an actor? I think it depends on the person you involve with. I think, you know, it takes a lot to like explain it. But it also takes a lot to process and understand and be okay with like shit right now. I'm shooting and it's like, my call time is 5 p.m. I'm not getting home till three in the morning before the morning. It's kind of hard to explain that at times. But yeah, I really think it just depends on the person you talking to, like for real. Yeah, girls, and I'm like, she's like, your call time was 5 a.m. this morning. Why are you not getting home till 3 a.m.? And I'm like, shh, enough. I go to set and then, you know, I got a decompress afterwards at Starlet. That's a hell of a decompressure right there. Not but I feel like, bro, I don't think it's, I mean, I guess this is for like certain people. But like the people I've been with, I don't think it was too hard for them to grasp the fact that I might not see you or talk to you for 10 hours. I was out of this day because I'm just all set locked in. Like, I might text you for like 10 minutes and then fill me like after that. You might not hear from me till 12 in the morning. But like, I don't know. I feel like workers work, bro. They know your job. Straight like that. If they don't, then I feel like most of them think it's cool though. A lot of girls think it's like dope because, all right, there are a lot of dudes that are, or bombs with a lot of girls that are like don't have a job or whatever. And they think it's it. They're like, oh, he's like working on it. He's an actor on a show and plus a lot of people watch the show. They're like, oh, he's going to make like some people's favorite show. So that's why kind of, you know, we get away with it. But I do go to start the words. That's the novelty in the man. It's always fun until like now you really getting into it some of the days. Come home. You like, yeah, I don't really got it to talk to listen. Bro, because you're doing it all day long, but you're really talking all day, bro. And it took me a while to get to the point of even having the words be like, oh, I can't right now. Like, I'm happy to see you. I'm so excited to be here. But like, right now I have nothing to give. But you're just like, bro, like there's 500 people on set all day long that I have to talk to. Plus, you know, you're obviously the guy. So you're, you have to handle a lot of shit. Or actually, I wanna know your process when you get an audition, and then when you get to set. - Shit. Um, what is my process? Honestly, when I get the audition, and I think it's the muscle and the realization are a lot different when I'm like in season working, doing the show, and then when I'm kinda just chilling, like it takes a while to get used to the eye. Okay, this is what they're looking for. - But for the most part, I just, I try to learn the words, and then through learning the words, you kinda learn more of the meaning. And then from that point, it's just like, all right, I think that's what people are looking for in the audition, at least from my perspective is like, what meaning are you gonna give to these words? What does that, how does that translate to what's happening in the overall story? Yeah, but again, even with that realization, I feel like, you know, because what we do is so fucking subjective, I can have that process, which will probably be the same one set, but I probably won't wind up on that set. Like it depends, like, what they're looking for for that character, bro. - When you get an audition, like, what do you think is, like the ideal material for an audition? Do you think more dialogue, a lot of words, or do you think a good amount of scenes, but not so many words, to the way you have to literally solely focus on remembering so much, to where you can't focus on how you're delivering everything. What do you think, like, what do you think is better material for an audition? I was just talking to him about this, like, I hate auditions that are full of dialogue. - Have you run yesterday? - Yeah, bro. - Today's the girl, bro. It was pages and pages. I'm like, look what you have, like, 'cause one, you got the deadline, so you like, you really wanna, make sure you remember everything. And then, like, if it's so many words, you kind of get caught up and just remembering the words. And then it's like-- - You can't work out, you can't work out. - Bro, do you wanna see if I have a good memory? - Do you wanna see if I could fucking act, like, yeah. - I've been lately trying to, like, oh, to go back to the question. I think it depends on the character, Loki, and what is happening in the story. Like, some characters, they might just be looking for how you hold the space. They might be looking for what look you give, based off of whatever the lines are, like, what cue you're responding to. Some people, I think, do wanna see what your memory looks like. 'Cause, you know, that's a big part of it. You do show up to set. It's like, all right. Can you remember these words, bro? - Like, I bro, I don't know, bro. This should be so, like, it really is so subjective. I really think it is the pins, like. - Bro, that's why, like, dude, it's kind of aggravating, because it is such a subjective business and your tape is subjective. This producer might think it's great. This director might think it's great. It might not be great for that one. So, nine times, okay. The UFC fighter? The better fighter that night is usually winning. - It's actually the better fighter that night is pretty much always winning unless, you know, you see what happened with McGregor. - Yeah. - But like, the world cup team, the team who is the better team is winning. When you're acting, the better actor doesn't get the job. - Just pretty weird at that. - Right, it's actually very weird that happens. It's mostly like the person who fits the role correctly or fits this perfect set. So, that's what's so subjective about acting that I don't like as an athlete, 'cause I'm like, well, I probably sent in the best tape. I just might not be the best for this role. - Bro, that's the, and that's why when people ask, like, also, like, when they ask for acting tips, I'm like, bro, just pay attention, present, because like, like, you can go to school, you can learn all of the techniques in the methods, but I feel like experience is the best teacher. - Yeah. - And you, bro, like, okay, so this is another question I have for y'all. I know people that haven't booked off It's like answer and then I'll go I would say I Mean I don't I think it It kind of depends on how How much you like the material that you get a number one is like I bet I want to go to extra mile or even just like It just it depends on how you feel in two cuz like certain things I see and um and I'm like I bet I want to hit up Josh I want to go to the studio and knock it out with him and also because like He's also he's a he's one of my acting coaches too, so like he kind of I kind of get that the constructive criticism I kind of get the yo we should do like this do it like that and sometimes like when I see something I'm like very confident and I'm just like I bet I I could do this like, you know walking apart I literally just yo knee Jay set up the light won't read read this with me and we knock it out and set up the phone Just like you said, so I think it depends on like I for me is like how confident I am and with the whatever the material is And how I could deliver it and then sometimes if I'm not feeling that confident I'd be like I should do this with Josh cuz he has a little bit more of an eye and ear for this so like you know I'm saying like we could fine tune it in certain ways Yeah, I feel the exact same way and it's also like how I how I get the material and I go and do I really want this? Mm-hmm. It'll it'll gauge me I'll just listen to myself and be like I really want this like for happy Gilmore I rented a whole hawk or a rink for the day. Oh, I got my friend who's a real shooter I shot this I wrote a new scene a shot the scene like I said didn't it was one of the best tapes I ever did and Bro the tape was so good that an agent at a girl who is at ICM When I was at ICM she left and went to another agency She texted me somehow got my tape and was like this is one of the best tapes I ever see my life like I'm so excited for you Like you're gonna book this obviously I didn't book it. That's how the business goes But like that like I was excited about that tape The twofold to that is like I'll spend how much on a watch so I'm like I can't spend how much on a self-tape set up So I got I got like a ten thousand dollar tape set up I got like a five thousand on camera. I got light check it everything cuz I'm like if I'm gonna spend this at starlets What skillet maybe I might as well be in one night? I might as well invest in myself to get a tape now. It's so weird like I just did two tapes at Michael's house I did it with an iPhone my team's like this is fucking amazing work And I did on an iPhone and I've been done tapes on an iPhone in in fucking three four years But then I'm sending stuff in my ten thousand dollar set up and my team's like I may like that whatever but like it's the same thing So it's like I don't know it like sometimes I hear stories of people booking big stuff in a hotel room Filming a movie with no lighting no anything and then I hear stuff of people going to a self-tape studio in the Heavill the set up. It's like it's it does not matter. I don't think I think it's also like the feeling that it gives you too I feel like if you obviously if you're doing a tape with a nice crazy set up or you're going into a studio It kind of feels more like you're doing the thing, you know saying like kind of feels like you're more in And like it feels more like set, you know, I'm saying it doesn't feel like you're doing a self-tape, you know I'm saying so but sometimes like certain directors would be like oh, I don't want all the bells and whistles on it Right, I just want to see them raw, but then other directors are like well I want to see what it would look like so it's like it there's no Fucking answer to this business. There's no answer So you could send in a whole amazing thing lighting and the director's like it's too like crispy and whatever And another director might want something gorilla and dirty and in the hotel room. It's like there's no answer So that that's why I do love having these conversations Especially with like actors who I know are fucking great actors. It's like it's good having these conversations because I'm curious about what other people are doing too It's dude. It's so much interesting. Are you doing tapes while you're while you're shooting origins? Yeah, I mean because like it's like One I've been playing can in so long I'm excited and ready to step into something else when it's when it's when it's there And I think it's also just good to keep the muscle going not just in this one thing I think that's why a lot of actors go back to classes and shit like that sometimes just like just to keep yourself Fresh and sharp and not playing this one tone of thing all the time Yeah, you know, it just it keeps you sharp This is what you want to do as an actor. You got to like you know move around diversify Yeah, have you pop that out those muscles in them? Yeah Sometimes the muscle get some time to muscle yeah, but when I do a tape for two three weeks And then I get a tape. I'm like fuck I can't remember anything Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's so that's why it's like yeah, it's good to keep the muscle going at times Hope you get rid of certain habits to like I do this shit a lot like What are some habits that you guys do as an actor that? Do you have like specific things? I did it tape like a week ago and I do this thing while I look off Yo, I do the same fucking thing I do the same thing like if I'm caught like like in my mind Like trying to think about certain things like in the scene I literally like look up to the side yo that's why yo, I was dead as just about to say the same thing Yo, that's crazy. So what do you think you think it's your thing of like not telling the truth? I don't know what the fuck it is But I was watching other than I'm like why am I doing that? I would like what's the look off look like like what is it? It literally is just like I'll be focused here because the camera's there So you're like trying to oh this is my contact. This is where the camera is gonna be then. It's like I'm trying to gap Gavin and Nick start for the next line. So I'm just like I just look off and it's like That was weird especially. We were so directly But I feel like I don't know. Maybe this is too inside baseball I but like we've had episodes really where we talk about other stuff, but I Feel like as a human being you see what I just did just then yeah, right. I just was like thinking about something and I looked off There's no wrong answer. Yeah, that is yeah, that is how I feel as an actor It's like if you're listening and responding in the moment like there's no wrong answer. I just did it again I didn't even think of it. So it's like sometimes actors can get in bad places when they're like oh, I do this thing But sometimes they like you want to make it look good for camera and I get that too But like there really is no wrong answer if you put trained humans at the end of the day So this all the shit is just human nature, but it just happens. Yeah, so When you're when you're doing a tape Do you like are you super crazy about? Okay, this take or this take or you just rip it and you're like I'm done Independence like it depends on how excited I think anybody is about the tape for real It's like oh, this is a character. I think would be cool. Yeah, then I'll probably be a bit more like But sometimes it's like no like let's just put it out and see what happens like I honestly yeah I think those are the better tapes - yeah, we just throw it out there. It's like you never would think so they're like Oh, they love that the fuck what? We want to watch this That's what it is sometimes it's like or if I if I read The script and I know these are the certain beats are looking for and I've done it taking I'm like I missed it Then I'll do it again And then it's sort of like scenes that you could like deliver a few different ways so sometimes I'm like you'll just send them three takes That's like whatever X let them see that let them know that's like I I can give you the different Varieties you need I never send more than one take I know my take and I'm like, I don't want them to see anything else I'm weird like that. Maybe I should send more takes. I'm too weird. I'm like no, this is the take I don't want because I you know what I mean don't strip yourself because they did the take you thing might be the take the take after that Might be the one day like oh my god. You feel me like you got a I think that's I think that's gives it kind of like Like opens your chances a little bit more because he's like just gives them Yeah, it just gives them more to look at it like it just shows like it just shows your range It shows a little bit more like you know, I'm saying. Yeah, I was kind of what we love might not be what they love and what we hate Might be what they love I know I was like that too at some point, but then When the first using the canon came out and I was seeing certain scenes Well, I was just like why the fuck would they use okay? All right, they use that take I guess it's like at the end of the day It's all in a cutting room floor regardless So it's like you might as well just go balls and wall and they're gonna choose what they want to choose literally I would like I could bro It was so many times where we would do a scene and it would be like a crazy like super emotional scene or super intense scene And then like we would do like five six takes and then like probably like the fourth of the or the fifth take I'm like, oh yeah, that's the one they gonna use they using that one for sure and then I watch it. I'm like wait. I Didn't do that and that they didn't use the take brother. I think you do you remember any specific scenes like where that happened? For for sure the ulygy that that I gave for the ghosts When ghosts was dead it was a scene where I was just boiling my eyes. I literally boiling my it was to take where I was just boiling my eyes I'm I'm like, yeah, they're gonna use that one and then the one they use I barely I barely had any tears in my eyes. And you're done, you're like, damn, I finally got my freedom, like, now you home, now you up for another like three, four hours, because you finally have time to just not do shit. You're like, damn, then you wake up the next day, cook you a nice shoot. There's nothing I love more than that night shoot. You guys are crazy. Nice shoots are fun, though. They're fun. It's just like for me, it's like, it's easier when it's like 11, 12 o'clock on set. And I'm like, it's easier to be awake at the crib or somewhere else, or for some reason, when I'm at work, I'm like, yo, this, I can't stay awake.
