Matchmaking Part 2

The podcast episode centers on a lively family conversation with matchmaker Anip Patel, who returns as a repeat guest. The discussion explores modern dating dynamics, with Zarna and her husband sharing their contrasting experiences: Zarna describes her seven years as a devoted "trad wife," making tea for her husband and managing the home, while he admits he never asked about her day, sparking debate about gender roles and ambition. The family debates whether women truly want traditional marriages or ambitious careers, with Anip noting that most of his female clients are career-driven, while some men secretly desire a "rock" at home. Anip shares humorous and revealing matchmaking insights, such as men rejecting women primarily for physical attraction, while women reject men for job titles (like pharmacist) or minor faux pas (like blowing nose at dinner). The "bird test" trend is mocked as absurd. Personal anecdotes include Zarna selling her husband’s sports car behind his back and discussions about marriage’s sacrifices. Anip details his business, from affordable packages to VIP services, and highlights challenges like client entitlement. The episode concludes with "Good Grades," where each person praises a memorable moment, with Anip’s professionalism under pressure earning high marks. Overall, the episode blends humor, candid family dynamics, and practical dating advice.

That's Q-U-I-N-C-E dot com slash Zarna. This leads me to my next question for you, Anif. What is the most odd reason you've seen a couple that you've matched break up? Very high-profile couple, both making seven figures. The guy blew his nose during the dinner at the restaurant in the chair. That's insanity. This is such a big issue. Women today are so crazy. Hello, namaste. Welcome to the Zarna Garg family podcast where five Gargs are in the house and we have our special guest, the first time ever, a repeat guest because of popular demand, matchmaker to the episode that you've been asking for, you've been begging for, America's ultimate South Asian matchmaker, now expanding into other cultures, matchmaker, is in the house, the founder CEO of Mohan Matchmaking, Anip Patel. Yay! Thank you for having me. Appreciate it. I feel honored to be the only returning guest. That's how lonely people are. Matchmaker is the only returning guest. Turns out that there's a lot of matchmaking related questions. Everybody's looking for love, even though a lot of people think it's cringe to go to a matchmaker. Of course. But they come to you anyway. They come. People think a matchmaker is the last resort, but it should be the first resort. You could be. You could build your own house, but why wouldn't you get the best contractor in the world, right? But how would you compete with Raya and other. How do you know about Raya? He's on Raya. No, actually, I think he is. I'm so confused. You would get a lot of swipes. You would get. You're the prime age, the right amount of rich. Why are we talking about me? Oh. I'm talking about Raya, my daughter. Wait, why is he the right candidate right now? Yeah. I'm curious. His age? Yeah. It's like the hot age right now. Really? Women, 40. A lot of single women are 40 plus. For every three South Asian women over 40, there's one male that would marry that age range. Whoa. Whoa. But I'm not that male either that would marry that age range. So, you would go younger? If you had to remarry, how. No, if you ever remarried, God forbid, or. No, I mean, life can happen. Life can happen. I mean, I could remarry also. Would you marry. Want to marry younger? Much younger. I would probably marry the younger version of Zarna. And how younger we are, answer. Like, ambitious and like. That's a lie. Really? People are looking for. People are looking for trad wives now. It's a thing. What's a trad wife? Well, at the. I think. I mean, trad stands for traditional. A traditional wife who understands the values that a lot of American women embodied in like the 1970s and 80s where it's like they serve the man primarily. They usually stay at home. They are not interested in having a career that is all demanding. Usually, they are interested in philanthropy. And it's a rising demographic of women. So, let me ask you. So, let me ask you. So, let me ask you. That would be the younger version of Zarna. Let me describe to you. Really? You wanted to be a trad wife? I was for a long time. I'm 50 years old. And I'm going to describe to you a typical day in my life when I was 33 years old. Okay. Just 15, 16, 17 years ago. It's not that long ago. I would get up in the morning and there would be hot breakfast waiting for me. The kids would have been nicely put away so they don't bother me while I'm getting ready. It's all like magic. At 7 a.m. in the morning, I used to. I have always gone to work early. That's true even today. But at 7 a.m. in the morning, she would. Somebody, and I'm assuming it was her, would make sure that the little kids, which was. Veer was very little. Bridge was, you know, maybe 7 or 8 years old. And Zoya was older. Would be. Either Zoya would have been put to school. Bridge would be kept quiet. Veer would not be making any noise. And then, after I would. She would then make sure that she comes downstairs to see me off to go to work. Wow. You did? I don't believe it. Did you kiss him? And then thereafter, at. 11 a.m., tea would show up at my work. Hot tea. What type of tea? Describe the tea. It's a Adra tea. It's a chai that. Like tea made by hand. Yeah, made by hand. Not like. You think from your house it came? Not like dupki tea. Like proper tea. Like Indian style tea. And all my colleagues would be like drinking it and reminiscing about how great it is and how lucky I am. How does that even happen? She would bring it? Or send it to someone? I don't know how it would. No, I dropped it. But she dropped it. I dropped all the kids. And then I dropped the tea in a big thermos for him and his whole desk. Do you know for how long? Are you ready for this number? Seven years. Wow. I did that every single year. And then thereafter, I would, you know, go through my day. And there would be some random calls here and there. But I would generally disregard them. Because I'm at work, so I'm not supposed to take any calls. But why not give that mug thing that keeps it hot? What's it called? She did bring it in those mugs. The big ones. The thermal? She didn't give it to you in the morning? No, then I would have to carry it, right? Oh, my God. It's heavy. Wow. It's heavy. I'm like emotional right now. Seven years? And then thereafter, in the evening, my workday used to finish. Starts early, finishes early. Market's hours. So it would finish at 4, 4.30. And then I would lounge in. Probably buying something on Madison Avenue on the way for myself. Because I was very addicted to shopping in those years. And then I used to have a sports car, which I would then call. And I would ask her to meet me downstairs. And then we would take that sports car while she would make sure the kids are put away nicely. What? I have a funny story about that car. And I would take the sports car downtown to eat at some random restaurant. And, you know, and she would discuss. Are we talking about the same person? We are. Check with her. And then we would discuss the entire day and the makings of it. She would advise me on how to deal some employees that were not doing well. She would advise me on how to deal with my bosses. She would advise me on who to fire, who to hire. And that conversation would go on at work. We would discuss about mortgage rates and stuff like that. Stuff like that. And then we would have a nice meal. Would you ask her about her day dealing with the kids? No. It never occurred to me. Okay. Do you think if she was as ambitious as she was now, you would have the same life? So that's where the misanomaly is. She was as ambitious then as now. The ambition was expressing itself differently through me. Right? But it doesn't mean that the ambition was any less. She was ambitious in your career. Or making sure that I stay on path. Got it. I mean, people look at Indian men doing so well. How do you think that? It all ends up happening. Yeah. The trad wife. The trad wife? The trad wife on steroids. Who is fully engaged and involved. And then I would come home and if one of the kids would start crying, I would be like, can you please make sure? Because I would be tired by then. I would like to rest. And I didn't like the noise of kids. Did you just hate us growing up? Why were we always put away? And then I would pick a time of my own choosing to spend with each of my kids. To play video games or whatever else. But it would be. It would be activities that I liked and things that I like to do. And to train my kids to like those things as well. Which they started to. Okay, wait. So mom. And that went on the next day thereafter. I'm sure a lot of people. I'm paying for it today. Yeah. But that didn't happen for seven years. I'm sure a lot of people watching can't even fathom that this was your life. Every woman who watches our podcast. But can you tell us. The amount of hate that is going to come his way, he doesn't even know it. Yeah. But that's okay. But can you tell us what it was like in those years and what changed? What was it like? It was great. I mean, we were a couple against the world. So the trad wife thing has merits. There is a world where the best thing you can do for your family unit is be the supporting act to the guy who's going out there and fighting for the family. So for many. I mean, forget him. All his colleagues I made tea for. For seven years. Dude, how do you think that at 35 we had two homes and four cars? Do you think all that happened? Do you think that. So what did you gain? Just financial. Family financial success? We had a great family life. I mean, we had. I loved being with you guys anyway. If he didn't want to, I didn't care because I loved being with. Did you guys not feel that? No, yeah. We did everything we wanted to do and. And then most likely late in the evening I would buy some tickets for some random film and she would basically come there and fall asleep and I would watch it. Every movie I watched for 20 years, I fell asleep. You still fall asleep? Yeah. I get tired. Really? Yeah, I get tired. But anyway. Anyway, coming back, so that life is still coveted? No, no. Now. What's the new trend? Women are against that. So women are against it. Three out of five women, if given the choice without making feel guilty about it, would choose that life over any other. I think some people have those ambitions, but once a girl in today's generation finds out that. the guy wants a trad wife it's a red flag for the girls right so they're like no no no but now there's a lot of girls out there who want that life yeah i want to marry rich and i want to be the home wait no one thing zona and i was similar age same age sorry not the same age so she and i grew into that life together it's not like i was rich and she married him yeah i mean just make that clear yeah so if you're willing to put in the the distance yes then you deserve the fruits of it too yes but it was not the case in fact i grew up very poor food used to run out growing up right my mom used to feed me and my brother and my biggest memory of young age of my young teens is going to bed hungry every day oh so it's not the same as what you're describing where a woman is looking to be a trad wife to an already established man no hold on so are they willing to be trad wives for somebody who's struggling and starting 90 of my south asian clients are very ambitious very smart yeah you agreed if they can afford me they're men and women uh no ninety percent of the women are very ambitious okay ten percent are they want a life where they don't they want to provide for the family they want to raise their kids they want to stay at home so there are people like there but it's a smaller way smaller percentage but the the wealthiest clients of mine they say yes i want ambitious girl i want this but then i deep dive in there they're like honestly i need a rock right i need someone who is going to be able to i have a high demanding job if she also has a high demanding job that's very dangerous to some men they think they think that so being honest about the situation they try the ambitious girl and they go on the dates and then ultimately settle on the idea that they want the trad way so they think they think they can convert the ambitious girl to a trad wife they think so i tell my clients it's like hey you want a trad wife i have to put it in your profile he's like no then girls will stay away i'm going to put it in your profile he's like no then girls will stay away i was like we're not wasting time here yeah they think oh like this girl is so pretty she's ambitious i could take her to my lifestyle and she'll stop working which some may would you be a trad wife ever no but she hesitated yeah you did you took a second because i do think a lot about like what is the point of life and i want a family i want a family unit and i am very aware that you can't have it all you can't have it all you can't have it all i don't agree with this idea that you can have the most amazing career and then also have the perfect family and also be fit and sexy and all the stuff i think that that is a lie and i know that in order to do anything excellently there is some giant sacrifice that has to be made so i i don't know i don't know i don't want to be a trad wife but i'm also like i don't want to not get a chance at a really amazing family life and but to me can you ever be attracted to a guy who's not your typical alpha male whether it's education ambition or a mix thereof i want to be with somebody who's focused that which is pseudonym for alpha right that's the exact same thing that's the exact same thing yeah would bridget beer marry a very ambitious girl where she's so busy and you're also starting your career and what what would you do would you want to marry someone like that or no it's definitely at this stage of my life i don't know i don't know i don't life I'm much more attracted to women that are ambitious than women who just want to like like when a girl tells me their dream in life is to be like a housewife that's just not attractive to me personally it's just not what I'm looking for yeah all this in call as life as I've gotten older a lot of the girls around me like I talked to you about this privately a lot of the women around me in college as I keep going grade over grade more of them are saying they want to just be at home and raise a family than the than want to work anymore that being said I don't know if the marriage life is for me because I was talking wait what yeah whoa this is a new topic now yeah well I recently made a video on Instagram where I talked about should my parents get divorced and like a lot of people are talking about it my cousin sent it to me from India I had to call your mom I was like what's going on he sent it in the chat and was like do you know your son made these videos do you know he posted this yeah but she did yeah the problem is he's not wrong and the problem is that there's no villains in our lives right like it's not like we hate each other or whatever but then the American idea of like oh my god I love you I love you and we're so ecstatic also doesn't apply 28 or 29 years later so what is it supposed to be what and why are you saying that the marriage life might not be for you well a similar note to what Didi is saying like you can't have it all you can't have the perfect family like the reason why I feel like we have such a great family and we have such a great family is because you sacrificed your entire career to raise us right I agree we wouldn't be this close or be this strong to do that like it was 20 years like it's 20 years of sacrifice right and I know I'm not making that sacrifice like there's no chance I'm sacrificing the 20 years so that I can just be at home with my kids all day and not work that's just not what that's something I'm interested in I also don't know if I want somebody who is interested in doing that because I'm not as compatible as I see like at least right now not as compatible with people who are looking to be in a position where they do that so I like some like some part of me is like it would be interesting to maybe not be as so much of a family or like married person and just be much more focused on my career but let me tell you something even that focus on the career requires infrastructure in your personal life you can't just be like a lone Ranger why are people so lonely you answer that because then your whole client base is ambitious and why do they need each other at all they I think everyone everyone thinks they're much better than they actually are look wise financially I've heard people I've heard online underestimate themselves often that's people who are self-confident uh who have a low self-esteem or um what's the word I'm self-aware so self-aware some people are overly aware and they think they are hot when reality they're not at all they are not like some of the ambition my clients have is very admirable but it's like what are you doing with respect to their partners but they just think they're like extremely higher than they actually are like give an example without taking names of course um so let's say I have a client Zoya not Zoya somebody we have a client they want all of the best things in life they want to marry a guy six foot extremely handsome tall this this is this they provide they bringing nothing to the table like what average looking pharmacist like money's not there ever looking for nothing wrong with pharmacists but just because we're on this topic the least desirable job occupation what do you think it is for a brown woman for a man for a man to have doctor three no no the least admirable job titles brown girl or so I'm saying for uh oh so one was pharmacist if the pharmacist is a no no they think the pharmacists make money they make money but they think it's capped they want more in life lawyer no no pharmacist physical therapist even chiropractors even yeah in that range occupational all the therapists and the last one was a CPA oh my God everybody needs a CD yeah in the charter accountant like it's the best job like he's a charter account he's good but these are the three least desirable job occupations within my pool but you have to understand my pool is a little different than your average person these are great careers they pay well they're steady jobs but someone in within my pool that is not admirable to them interesting and what about for women for what women don't care what the girl does you could do anything I've never seen I've seen maybe out of our 10 000 people in our portfolio I think five people said that I'm a doctor I want the girl to be a doctor what about like is there like a wow she's a nursery school teacher nothing no they love that they love that right I've never I I don't think I've had a guy say I need her to have this type of job or this job or this much money oh no no they never say she needs to like two guys would you guys care how much money the girl makes that you're dating I wouldn't care at all not at all I I have no guys that care about the girl's occupation yeah but girls oh my they care like oh he's a doctor he's not a surgeon no pass do you think that's valid like even my sister will care like my sister and mom they care a lot about what guy she's a job like the first thing that she went on a date yesterday actually I think the first question my mom asked when she came home was what does he do yeah and what does he do that's the problem I don't know oh I mean that's a new problem it was very you can't do it at least a startup nowadays you never know what it is you're on trying to make a website you're a startup founder yeah yeah you know like you are not a startup I think if you're a man and you can't answer how you make money in a single sentence it is extremely concerning or maybe they want to be like they don't want to tell you to whatever like I don't care I don't think I care about what that person is doing I care what amount of effort they're putting into whatever they're doing right like if if someone is a teacher for example would you marry a teacher I I want to be a teacher no when I'm 60 I want to be a teacher changes I mean yeah so women will say I make money I could do this so we have women like that like I make money so I asked you're going on vacation with this teacher right yeah you want to stay at the ritz he wants to stay at the holiday inn you're gonna tell him oh don't worry i'll pay right yeah but that's where the fights happen that's not how a marriage works right see this is what i'm saying he's gonna say i want to say like he's gonna i get it i completely i completely agree i completely agree with dad when he says that in the future and in the past it'll always stay the same that a woman always wants an alpha male and a man always wants a submissive wife my 14 i completely agree with that i think i think that he gets this dad sometimes speaks so like who's ever said did you watch old hollywood movies and like some old movies it's such a cool like social idea to want to be attracted to a soft man but in reality it'll always come back to the to the hard man in my opinion but there's no 14 year old gets this sam you're hearing this no broke the wall no but they you say that but you know what the crisis is all my women friends are like there are no hard men out there which is why so many people are getting married every guy out there is like i'll be a stay-at-home dad it's not so bad that's not true i'm telling you it's not true stay-at-home you go to any pen and chair any jail anything you'll find hard men would you like to just stay at home what wait let's say zarna's career pivoted when you guys were 35 and she's where she is now i could never stay at home no it's a hard job no because i just i just don't like doing it you don't like doing you don't like kids no i like i like the idea of kids i just don't want to do the work you like just like play with me yeah i want to observe them and live their life but i don't which i think is fair by the way like i don't think there's like i think if you're honest about your purpose early it's fine kids then they were when they were in yeah but being having a good relationship with us now is not hard you're right like having a relationship with you is hard no matter the time no having a relationship with me is extremely pleasant and several people have said that they enjoy it okay thanks anif my one friend will have to get that to be clear to everybody watching we had an agreement so it wasn't like i did all the you're right yeah it's clear we agreed that the best use of my time was to stay home and build the family and the best use of his except but when i forget hold on but when i agreed i did not realize how excruciatingly difficult it was to stay at home and build the family and the best use of his except but when i my job would be in America where you have no help. There's nobody there. No, I mean, I had no idea what I signed up for because he had working hours. I had no working. I was just working 20 years straight. Yes. I mean, I wouldn't, I feel like, I feel like you're, I feel like you're, I'm not, whatever. Don't say that. Say it. What did you always want? Three kids. Oh yeah. It was not an accident. We wanted to have, it was not an accident. We planned it. No, we wanted a bigger family. No, Bridge. I'm glad to hear I wasn't an accident. I'm not acting weird. No, just say it. He was about to say that you also take it a lot more seriously than you needed to. No, no. What I was going to say was that I feel like you're also lowering the difficulty of his career as well. When you said that, like he knew his working hours, because at least how I see it from my friend's perspective, or in similar, similar career fields, it's, it's not like nine to five or working hours at that age. It's more like, I don't know. Why don't you answer? It was not. You're right. It was not. But I don't think your mom meant it that, in other words, she was very engaged and involved in the career. Yeah. Like to the T. Outside of checking my emails to make sure I responded correctly, everything else she knew. I'm not saying you weren't. At least, even if it's, let's say 7am to 11pm, right? Let's say. Yeah. Yeah. But it ends at 11. It wasn't that long either. No, but let's say, I'm saying, when you have little kids. And you're a mother in America, there is no end. No, I'm not saying it's equivalent at all. Like I'm, I'm not saying it is. I'm just saying it's a different types of work. It's different types of work. And it's not as simple because I think, I think one of the things that podcast fans get upset about is like, you always harsh on dad for having a somewhat simplistic job, because that's how you make it seem. But I actually don't think it is like it was not a simplistic job. I don't think it is. And now that I'm seeing my friends go through it, like a lot of my friends who were in a similar field to him, because he was in a finance field, he was doing quant and investment banking. So a lot of my friends and they were like, investment trading. And a lot of my friends are now doing the same fields. Like all of my guy friends in fact are, I mean, they're working, like they barely have any time off of work, to be honest with you, like off the internship and off the job. Like when I first heard you say it, from my perspective, I was like, oh, he's just working nine to five, but it isn't working. It's not, I'm not saying it's equivalent. I'm just saying you owe a little bit of credit because it was not nine to five, at least for mine. It was not nine to five. It was more intense. And anything that makes you seven figures at 25 in America is not going to be nine to five. Yeah, exactly. Any straight world, right? Why are you raising your eyebrows on that? No, no, no, no. No, the minute you said seven figures. Yeah. She liked that? And seven figures then she liked that. No, he raises, he's like, he's right, he's right. I know everybody is like, he's right. So you made seven figures at 25? I did. And I have the proof here. Yeah, yeah. Look, but nobody's denying it. Do you think your friends are making seven figures at 25? I mean, they're on track. Those ones are going to be on track, but I see them also like put in an enormous amount of work, which is why I'm bringing it up. Hey, it's me, Bridge. I just wanted to stop you for one second and tell you about something fun. And what happened to the cars? We sold ours. Actually, can you mom. Yeah, I heard this. Mom told the, you told a tease of this story. And since you've told the tease, people have been asking me several times. Can you tell the car story? When you guys were little and we had a house in Connecticut where we went on the weekends because our apartment in New York was very small. So instead of buying a bigger apartment in the city, we bought a house in Connecticut because his parents used to visit. So now just think about that for a minute, right? Yeah. And then we have an apartment. We're renting on the Upper East Side. And we just came across the idea. Why don't we just buy another 1.6 acre house in Westwood, Connecticut, right? Okay. And we don't have family here. So obviously money came from somewhere. No, no, you earned it. But no, but nobody is denying that he earned the money. He's so excited. I made the money guys. And then we were going to buy a car because we need a car for the family. We bought an SUV because we were already a family of five. So if anybody visits, we need extra seats, right? So we went to the dealership. We signed the paper. We went together. We signed the paper. I'm going to sit in the car and he's not with me. I'm like, where did he go? And I go, where did he go? I see him getting in another car. I'm like, why is he getting in this other car when we bought this car? So then I find out that while I was filling out the paperwork for the SUV, he bought himself a sports car. And he said, you drive that big family car. I'll come behind in the sports car. Now, aside from the fact that having two cars, was preposterous him driving a sports car had me very scared because sports cars, as you know, they're actually, that's true. They were very, it was very light and very close to the ground. You need the skill of my, my skill to be able to drive it well, but for most men it would be hard. I do get it. Oh my goodness. What? Wait, I'm a very skilled driver. Mom is a much better driver. Okay, regardless. I cannot picture you driving. She's actually a fantastic driver. If you drive at 22 miles an hour, you will be very good. Wait, where does she drive you guys? She was the one who drove for years. She drove 15 years. She drives so slow in the highway that even in the third lane, the cars are honking. Dad, you got in more accidents than mom. You failed your driver's license. Tell me which driver's license I did fail twice. But when did I get in an accident? No, you got one ticket, I think. Not even, I have never gotten a ticket. You got out of it. I got you out of it. Or maybe one ticket, but I generally have not touched with not a single accident. And I drove very, very well. We both had clean driving records. That wasn't it. I did fail my driving license test twice because I didn't know. What's your favorite fabric? Yeah. And it's August, so I love my cottons and linens, and they're so beautiful. driving licenses and got it in one shot was bridge it was great you guys could drive i have a license and i'll do it when i turn 16 or 18 yeah 16 so anyway we came home with the car and i knew immediately that this was a mistake because what i did not like in that car ultimately the sports car and i did not stand in the way of selling it is that i thought it had a v12 engine it had only a v8 engine oh no oh my god no that was not the problem what so that's here that was not that was a big problem because the v12 takes you in 3.6 seconds this was more like 4.6 oh yeah because we are f1 formula drivers okay regardless can we come back to the match making sure wait so can you tell us what happened people are dying to know nobody's dying i mean she ultimately sold it one fine day and we never saw it anyway and then i called the guy to bring it back and he said i haven't had that car for a month i said what happened to it he said a month ago somebody came and took it away yes i sold it behind his back i went into swap police i i uploaded the whole information i mean we don't it's about a matchmaking episode we needed to know who sold the car i did i sold it behind his back he was sleeping i found a buyer i went into his email i found a buyer this leads me to my next question for you anip what is the most odd reason you've seen a couple that you've matched break up oh very high profile couple both making seven figures the guy blew his nose during the dinner at the restaurant in the chair and didn't go to the bathroom so the girl got the ache i i mean i could think it's someone blowing their nose during dinner she got the ache so she says she had to end it all right this is such a big issue women today are so crazy no i mean i do you think it's weird someone's blowing their nose and their schnapps they're both 28 29 so not that young i mean not that young not at all so you should break up no she didn't they weren't officially dating with her third date she said it just left me a little weird so i had to end it i i talked about this during me and my brother's live stream yeah because of social media and social norms today women are so hard to deal with because they get the ache from literally anything you do social media has created you would not do something like that regardless social media has created so many new publicized ics that women are looking for things that do not matter at all have you guys heard about the bird test the bird theory okay i'll tell you guys what this is what is this all right so there's this big thing on social media that women should text their significant other i saw a bird today okay and if the man responds asking what the bird looked like where did you see it all those type of questions he passed but if he responds with something that and he throws it off and he doesn't care that much you should break up with him because he doesn't care enough about your life i got you on a date with yesterday i saw a bird today i promise you you search it up wait i'm gonna try that and that is a good test that is not a good test about does he care about what use but like if mom texted you that what would you say cool i would literally think she's about to die i would be like call 9-1-1 right now because the point i'm trying to make is that there's this weird can only mean one thing that finally she's on her deathbed or about to be killed i would be so confused if you said it could sound like a code if you were at dinner and a nice restaurant the guy blew his nose yeah his snots whatever make it disgusting what would you do if i know what i would do i would say i am disgusted by you not by you yeah i would be like this was disgusting listen to me listen to me are you like i need a week to recover give me some time and then let's read are you being serious that's what i'm gonna do i would be like this just this really made me feel some certain kind of way and i'll see you in a week i'll see you in a week change in a week he's just like i've recalibrated and i've forgotten this memory the giveaway with that question yeah if she said shut up and so shut up too shut up i saw a bird then i know she's dying for sure it's like a call for help from 9-1-1 does this sound like a reasonable it to you i'm just tired but he's a guy but he's like it's a girl okay what's it make for you for the girl oh i know like that's a good question i mean there's like very little things that i would just be like oh you did this i mean so much makeup that because it's heat out the makeup is slipping oh i would kill myself so you like natural beauty for guys it's not like a one moment instance it's more of the way that they act throughout the whole day very good skin and they don't need that much makeup but for most like for women who wear so much makeup that literally you know it starts to melt with this little bit of heat or whatever you know what i've noticed with both of you and your situations is when a girl is not fun and it just becomes very serious and there's a lot of like these serious serious conversations all the time it seems like both of you start to tap out no what not at all yeah that's like so not true are you all single or the opposite yeah all three guards are single oh my god i didn't even realize it's the first time all three have been saying for a while i didn't even think about that either i'm gonna fall in love in europe wow no people in europe don't make money yeah and it's really but she doesn't care she'd marry an art teacher no she's not marrying an art teacher no what about hong kong and thingamore that's money no but what about australia no no no no no no none of that has happened another reason somebody broke it off because the guy did not get an uber black wow that's what mom would do mom would do that see i said i was like wait give her a chance she's like no i was ordering it on my phone she wanted to she was leaving she was ordering over black wealthy client and he insisted no no no no no and he ordered her an uber x that's kind of like so that changes stuff yes yeah i mean if he insisted and then ordering what's the difference between uber black and uber x no way it's a suv versus like a what do you think are uber blacks no i have friends who do this to me and they're like no no we'll get the car and then they start arguing with the lyft app and stuff and i'm like oh my god well you have a driver now so you're uber cadillac yeah i mean she likes that whatever but would you would you call it off these are two three days because we we we like to get feedback like if they're my client i deep dive i mean i haven't even gone into that stage man like i have not even gone into the stage where we can have x i am not going to be on what do you do for a living we are at very preliminary stage that's like what about a woman a woman who has a lot of opinions have you ever had a guy be like she has too many oh yeah that was what this guy yeah no men some men have a lot of opinions too it's not just wait i like that do they have an that's good so we have a girl has a lot of opinions like that's good yeah it depends what type of opinions what does that mean like opinions about the sofa or opinions about life right it's a big difference yeah no but okay let's say okay here's a question if a guy or a girl says i'm a trump supporter or i'm republican big deal uh on people's profiles say no trump supporters at all and some men say no trump haters oh yeah it's usually men who say no trump haters i've never seen a lot of brown women saying they're a trump yeah but some some are a lot are actually and people but they will never uh say it out loud but secretly there are a lot of brown women who support trump yeah but what about the men there are a lot of brown men who also support are there a lot of brown men or women who identify as extremely liberal progressives i don't think they will ever admit anything like does either side ever say no liberals like i would i don't want to be masked with a mask i don't want to be masked with a mask a democrat no you don't see that it's a little too black a little too what about religion where does religion play into your matchmaking it's big big really very big top three what are the other two other two are politics and no no religion looks money and height but what about oh my god wait do men ask for short women men don't like extremely tall women yeah what's extremely tall five eight and above if you're indian wow i feel like that's fair but that's also rare it's hard to be tall as a woman actually wait brown woman yeah what is the conversation around religion if they're not the same religion it's an immediate no you would think in this day and age hindu muslim is whatever a lot of they a lot of hindus won't marry muslim and muslim won't marry hindu wow it's still a big big thing i think less than five percent of my pool are open to marrying someone not someone muslim right what about what about like like atheists what uh what someone who's hindu married an atheist yes okay oh so it's just those two don't want to correct yeah but i think that's from our parents generation yeah i agree instill that in our brains like you cannot do this we're about a few generations away do you care if they marry someone hindu or non-hindu i used to care a lot more and it's not just hindu not hindu because i now think even not indian is okay yeah well of course that's okay it was not okay all the time why would that not be okay i used i had a phase where i was like it has to be an indian person it has to be like why but okay can i ask you why like why does that matter why would that matter because i didn't see it i didn't think our family would have anybody non-indian in it but then i met so many dumb indian people what's like the issue with someone white like like they think that the cultural difference is going to be too impactful and it will be a good marriage it's not i honestly think it's not even white black hispanic now i've met people of many cultures that are brilliant and i could see it and then i've met a lot of indian people where i'm like no wow no i don't care rich dad i don't care what their story is this is a hard no it has evolved like i 20 years ago thought all of you were going to marry a non-indian person and i would marry indian people and that would be it and now even in our shows like you see indian people freaking lie all the time why we give out this giveaway i mean we do a giveaway okay this lamer cream if you sign up for something so one person wins right and our opener used to announce okay the winner is mona patel let's say okay like 20 mona patel's will line up i'm mona but this is actually a true story there might be 20 mona patel you know and then the point is like i don't know if i'm going to marry a non-indian person mona patel will come up crying like an hour later like i've been trying to figure this out where were you guys really not so it's like they've seen sides of and these guys at the merch table tell them what you saw when the women really want to buy merch tell them what you've seen we've seen like a lot of negotiation for like so our the deal is one meet and greet for 250 yeah yeah so for two people yeah so one one one of them they'll buy a meet and greet for two people and they'll walk in and then eight more people will try to sneak into the into the green room well sometimes i will say during your last show in chicago i saw someone sneak in you need to do a better job yeah yeah we don't like what do we do but you have to give them wristbands no but the problem is also if we and they shared this friend i saw it i forgot to tell you i forgot to tell you some girl didn't buy one and she's like it was indian family it's like aijana like means come come come and i was like this girl doesn't have a wristband but then she also knew me so i was like shit it's all to you that's the thing family friendly show you don't want to be too strict about it you have to draw you gotta be straight yesterday at the show two days ago in the show an indian uncle i kid you not like maybe like a 65 70 year old walk at the end of the show walk up on the stage after the show through the green room alley into the green room and he goes you have to come to houston i got so scared that behind me but it's just dude it's a stage door like usually nobody walks in but you're like etiquette hold on but tell him about the time when the women want to buy the charms and the husbands oh my god that's a day oh yeah this is something that'll be interesting a lot of the time a woman will be hinting at like wanting more so for example they'll be buying a book and they're like oh this pineapple is really cute like i would love this would go so well in my purse and the men will shut it down and they'll just he'll pay for the book he'll be like just give me the book and he'll pay for it really quickly and they'll walk out together but women need to be financially independent it's how much is your charm 20 bucks if they need a hint that but they don't it traumatized them one time no yeah one time i walked i was i was okay so there's there's very often there's situations where a woman and her husband will be walking through the woman will notice the merch table and look at it and tell her husband hey look this looks really nice and the husband will like grab her arm and like force her to keep moving so she doesn't stop in the merch station we have seen it would you do that to her he wouldn't no dad he likes shopping more i think like to give dad his flowers he is so generous even for example and i will never forget that he's so generous he's so generous he's so generous he's so generous when mom was early in building this company that we're all part of now we were moving apartments in new york city and there was an option to move into a slightly less nice apartment or a really really nice apartment that we actually could not afford and so we moved into this nicer apartment at dad's on dad's admission that was a little bit out of range and he was like i want us to live the best possible life and specifically mom i remember him saying you deserve to live the best day-to-day life because you're going to be primarily living here and every skit every podcast all these things that people have enjoyed over the last few years was shot in this living room mostly because it's such a nice looking place and to that credit you've never been skimpy like that at all stick me 50 no oh my god what is that what does the 50 come from 550 me you don't get it i get the would you date a frugal man no she oh my god i would kill myself if she did so how are you gonna date someone you're gonna date someone you're gonna date someone you're gonna date someone who doesn't make over a million dollars i'm not gonna date anybody i'm telling you i'm not gonna date anybody can i can i draw the profile of the man yeah that she's married to sure i don't know who that man will be because i may not have met her but he will be tall okay he will be what high so we're i'm gonna tell you we have let's just for math purposes there's a hundred brown men she wants tall over six foot you're gonna give the percentage we're down to 20 we're at 50 i'm not talking about american tall but indian tall percent left okay he'll be tall okay he will be ambitious if not wealthy okay ability to make money even if he's not 30 we're good anything else right and then on so i already said good looking he'll be good looking so we're down to traditionally working extremely uh hard on his body okay not to become a bodybuilder but just to uh you know just to sort of yeah take care of himself of course um and and he would love his family zero percent that's okay out of a hundred we're at two percent in a big city that's i know i don't think he lives in alabama texas she will not care about that oh no that other thing is okay i think she would care for that are we back to one percent no no would you marry a guy not living in a big city i would marry somebody who it would be if it was challenging for me to live near my family that would be an issue but you live in sf or new york city oh yeah but my point is that the guy if he's making money by an honorable bay of selling crops as an example as a farmer she may easily find that very attractive i did find that attractive until mom shut it down so it doesn't have to be ambitious with respect to he was a farmer private equity or doctor or thing oh my god she defines ambition differently than but then you okay so then you have to you have to date older than because like you guys keep putting i think she's like older yeah i think she will marry probably 15 years older what 15 that's 38 years old what's your age difference 25 years you had her 25 how old were you when you had her i was 27 27 oh my gosh i think she will marry someone 15 years older no she's not gonna marry well there are a lot of men who would want to marry 15 years younger some of your clients did the percentage go up just now with that yes very high now she has a bigger pool oh yes what's the percentage now would you marry a so what when he's 60 those are your friends age but he's 10 years but when he's 60 she will be 43 nobody will even remember woman a typical hedge fund manager who's 65 today is marrying a 30 year old yeah right so my colleagues and i are all married wait can we just do this very quickly and what are some of your hot what are some hot takes about dating that come to mind sure that you feel like you can't tell people but you are going to be honest with this podcast sure a lot i cannot tell people because it hurts their feelings yeah but everyone always asks why the person is not interested in them and it is the saddest and hardest thing to say to somebody and there's always one reason for men it's only one thing and it's physical attraction they're not looking at where you work they're not looking that you're a neurosurgeon that's all blank to them where you went to school it's irrelevant information the only reason men are saying no is physical attraction which is a big deal physical chemistry deal woman on the other hand it could be a bunch of stuff that they're saying no to and we give that feedback to the guy but that is the hardest thing we have to say and we just said they didn't find it compatible some people want the truth and we give them the truth and then they get mad at us like you're so mean to me and this like you want the truth but we don't want to lie either like some like we have a guy who's bald like a lot of brown men are bald nothing's wrong with bald bald is beautiful but a lot of the reasons are he's bald so i don't want to make not my type so the guy might ask why did she agree to meet him in the first place she didn't after sharing profiles oh but the guy wants to know why did she say no to me even before they met even before they met based on the profile the body everybody wants to know why they've been rejected so but what is there we what if we have a client where everyone they've like rejected them and everyone who liked them they've rejected oh because they're not so let's say you're an eight out of ten we're showing you eight out of tens they say yes to each other but they want the ten out of ten oh so all the tens are saying no but the eights are saying yes so we charge ten dollars a day for our cheapest package which is not a lot of money yeah our staff is in america but by the way how do people book you mohanmatchmaking.com if i'm your matchmaker it's a lot more money if you're getting one of my employees it's you get us for 120 days ten dollars a day uh which is not a lot of money but people think paying ten dollars a day they want 50 matches a day my goodness People don't understand that we are humans and this and sometimes you might not find a match right you might just be what you want we have guaranteed if you what you name for zoya we have 700 of those guys but now are any gonna like her i don't know yeah i mean honestly we don't know but we want to take you if we can whatever you're writing we have to have those before enrolling you wow but that guy is not going to say yes to this person but she thinks they'll think it's our fault wow okay hold on you brought up something interesting because we live a very public life yeah and there's a lot of creators influencers out there are there people that are like creator we want to be with the creator influencer or we absolutely don't want to be with the creator influence i've never heard someone who says they want to date a content creator i don't think it's like a job that people are but a lot of men would be like oh i want a girl with an aesthetic profile or they wouldn't say i want to date a content creator but they would like that visual of the what you see online so you have god going for you is there no that was a problem my wealthy clients don't want a public face yeah my ex-boyfriend who came from an exceptionally cerebral family like a family of doctors a family of academics like an incredible family and i actually think very highly of all of them the moment i started getting followers and the moment our podcast was created and mom became a fan of me and i started getting followers and i started getting a lot of people who were like oh my god he's dating so-and-so's daughter oh my gosh did you see what zarnagurg posted that week we broke up yeah high profile clients don't want a public person yeah so what like wait when you say high profile clients yeah pretty much it's high profile men don't want public women uh i think it's because of their families like yeah but it's not the high profile women who care what the guy does i don't think a high profile girl is going to marry a content creator yeah right it is a high paying job some of my friends make millions of dollars doing this but i i don't think i've seen a very highly ambitious girl be like oh i'm okay with the content creator i've never seen that and i think kind of creators make a lot of money and you know what let's side quest for a second new profession yeah let's side quest for a second because you also run mondays with mohan which is an incredibly engaged account brands come to you all the time to work with you like what because you're very pro content creation in fact anip has literally been yelling at me i get yelled at in our group post this photo post this video you had a comment about his account oh yeah who said that you love mondays with you know the matchmaking page oh yeah you guys are killing on tiktok oh that's what i was saying also you post the hottest girls and guys oh yeah yeah everyone is hot yeah well you do a great job producers just gave us a look what is the what do you think is the thing that you appreciate about it that other people aren't seeing this weekend we had four weddings for mohan matchmaking yeah amazing that's amazing only one of them told me that they met at mohan matchmaking people still think it's weird to say a matchmaker found you love like people will dm me like dude i just went to a mohan matchmaking wedding i was like why didn't they tell me but no one is telling me that we met at your event or we met through private private matchmaking is different i know more but if they met through one of our events our events people think we do it for money we lose money on a lot of them wow new york city will make money some bigger cities but we lose a lot of money but we have to throw public events to get people's photos my private clients don't want their photos online how do i run a business without photos of clients yeah i throw these events every weekend just to take photos of clients and i go to every single one to find my vip clients somebody so shalom's my client or zoya's my client and i see a girl a guy that you said that lists all these i'm gonna go up to them even if they're not my matchmaking client i'm gonna give them a free membership of the lowest tier so you can match with them that's actually so smart business-wise because this i have to go to the events yeah this matchmaking company dm'd me and like they were like i think you'd be a good fit for us or whatever and the first thing i did was look at the photos of their thing to see like what they do like who are they but did they have photos no they had none yeah that's why we have to have these events exactly and also the photos look normal so yeah it looks very yeah i agree it's very very like girls especially don't like being photographed at our events they but now all of my high profile clients big bollywood celebrities they're on that page five years later and they're like oh my god i'm gonna go to this their wife yeah wow they're like show me girl number like that girl is beautiful how can i connect with her yeah you know because they're not on all the dating apps they might not be a private client so now people are trying to pay me to be posted on the page like hey can you make sure you post my photo and can you make me the first can you make me the first image it's like being on the cover of vogue basically yeah being on the moment that's making carousel wait i have a question yes how did you two meet oh yeah who you and my mom oh wait can we just yes i just want to preface this because i literally share a bed with mom now especially because we're on the road and i don't have my own room it's all you guys all saw my crash out whatever anyways i see who she's messaging at 3 a.m and at 2 a.m and at noon and at 4 p.m it is the same notification you know on imessage where when you're sending something to someone it shows you your recent messages a.p anit patel anit patel and it's you it's the same profile icon it's not dad it's not me so they are very very good friends how did you guys meet uh your mom actually slid into my dm um five years ago mondays with mohan page and she's like hi i'm this comedian could you share my video and she had 2 000 followers then so i'm not responding no i'm joking i was like who is this auntie like messaging me like to post a video so i ignored one two and then the third one i was like let me click it and i thought it was hilarious and then i was like oh my god i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i'm so sorry hilarious so i took the video and i posted it on my page which is like a meme page whatever you call it influencer page and she remembered that she's like you were one of the first person who reposted it on this account like an account like that and we she came to chicago for an event and i went to her show and we went to go eat mexican food did you know that she was gonna blow up the way that she did i didn't know how big i knew she would get big 100 but i didn't know to like this level like winning the instagram rings award yeah um just won the web so i mean webby awards like i didn't know it was gonna go to this level and i've been her biggest cheerleader and i think it's amazing to see where your whole family and this whole team has came and you guys always bring best guests on your podcast yeah recurring guests i think i don't think could you any of you even fathom like five years ago where you guys would be today no like it's i think i could yeah but you think it was your delusion or you just knew that you were meant for this no i i really believe that the world needs me just like the world needs you yeah i tell do i not tell you yeah there's so many people oh matchmaking this i i how many women i know who are looking for love constantly all day i'm like stop wasting time actually last weekend your mom has referred some of my top clients to me and they pay i'm like stop wasting time you're a woman of a certain age do not waste time you don't have time to go on 20 dates find a nice guy who's gonna actually do the job seriously and get it done yeah actually last weekend we were at this house of these people that we hadn't met before but they're part of their really extended family and the mom who was divorced and she was like i don't know what to do she was looking for somebody and the first thing she said was i know the perfect site for you you need to check out mohan matchmaking because people still oh i don't know i mean first we met online yeah people think matchmaking is cringe change they think that's the last resort it should be the first resort yeah you're getting everything sent to you you don't have to chat you don't have to swipe and we slide into dms for you that is if you're a vip client and you find a random girl on instagram or a random guy on instagram like you know how someone dm'd you from the matchmaking page some girl probably liked you in their pool so that matchmaker is trying to dm you wow that's so interesting so did you ever fill it out no i should do it for some marketing purpose uh research purpose yeah okay i'll do it for you let me know what they're doing yeah we have so much respect do i not tell you but we all have so much respect you you are helping loneliness is a real thing it's a real issue wait let's talk about loneliness yeah what are you seeing with like what because you're seeing it in the most intimate way people are very lonely out there people haven't had sexual intercourse i don't know what the word is on this podcast with kids around people ain't have a sex in a long time and people haven't had intimacy in a long time and they're lonely so some people could go into depression or drugs or go to a strip club whatever makes them happy like it's being lonely it's a big deal right now wow and a lot of successful people are lonely wow because they want someone equivalent to them or higher and they're not finding that wow on that note we have the solution to your loneliness if you are watching this if you are lonely somebody in your life is lonely you've got kids you want to match to me i'm not pointing to you everything in my life is not pointing to you if you're looking for love you're looking for companionship whatever the whole spectrum is wide right it's not even like romantic love like that people who want a companion whatever your situation is our friend here anit patel runs the biggest matchmaking agency in america and now accepts clients worldwide yeah uh mohan matchmaking and we wanted to do this episode as a follow-up to the original episode we did because we got a million questions from you we understand that you need to keep it private we understand that you don't want to comment on it publicly but you are watching and we are here to serve your audience and to try to alleviate the stress in your life uh we loved having anit patel as our first ever recurring guest and as we end every round of our episodes with a round of good grades with gargs so too we will end up with anit patel and anit patel and anit patel and anit patel and this episode with a round of good grades with gargs where each garg and our guest will give an a grade to somebody in this podcast for the winning moment enlightening moment entertaining moment of the episode who wants to go first i'll go first uh i definitely want to give my a grade to dad i thought he had the funniest moment when it came to what would he do if you texted him i saw a bird i also want to give my a grade to dad he was very honest as usual i have to give my a grade to veer i thought his thing about man needs someone's submissive and a woman needs someone i thought when a 14 year old it was just so well you know i know he hasn't had much dating experience he's after all 14 years age yet he has these prolific ideas about everything including dating and for that i have to give this to veer um i'm going to split an a grade three ways mom dd and anip uh dd and mom asked really great questions that kept the conversation and i know that like they're entertaining for me to hear even now so i hope the viewers really like them and you made sure to get give the complete blank and i'm going to answer which is something that a lot of people would just mask but thank you for being honest with your answers to them i tried to give a great you or me we can you're ready i'll go my a grade without any question goes to my dear friend anip patel who's doing the hard work and and i know how hard it is wish i could you have to finesse and explain to them why this is not and it's a constant and by the way i was a matchmaker for a minute yeah back in the day i sucked so bad at it i was about to get fired i thought somebody would bring a gun and like shoot me because i would just be like you're not hot yeah you're really not actually not i don't see it yeah so i have a lot of respect and for that Anip Patel is the founder and CEO of Mohan Matchmaking, America's largest South Asian matchmaking agency. Services range from a $10-per-day package to VIP services starting at $15,000 per year.

A 'trad wife' is a traditional wife who prioritizes home and family, often staying at home. While some women desire this, it is a smaller percentage, and most of Anip's female clients are ambitious and career-focused.

Odd reasons include a man blowing his nose at dinner, not ordering an Uber Black, or failing the 'bird test'—a social media trend where women test if their partner cares about details of their day.

Religion, looks, money, and height are top factors. Many clients refuse matches of different religions, men often reject based on physical attraction, and women may reject based on job prestige or height.

Women tend to care more about a man's job and earning potential, often rejecting less prestigious roles like pharmacist or CPA. Men generally do not care about a woman's occupation or salary.
