Martinez’s United Outburst, Gerrard’s Wirtz Warning & City’s Title Dilemma | Stick to Football EP 153- no winner

A recent public statement by a senior Manchester United player has sparked significant debate about team culture, leadership, and internal dynamics. The player criticized the club’s ownership, sporting director, and squad strength, framing it as a lack of ambition. While fans may welcome the raw honesty, many experts—including former players and coaches—view the remarks as damaging and unconstructive, especially during a period of poor results. The comments are seen as a direct attack on teammates, undermining team cohesion and creating division. Critics argue that such public criticism is inappropriate when the team is struggling and that issues should be resolved privately. There’s growing concern that the club’s leadership has failed to maintain a unified culture, with recent patterns of player dissent and media statements reflecting instability. A key takeaway is that the next match—particularly a crucial win against Leeds—must serve as a turning point to restore confidence. Success on the pitch could help normalize the atmosphere, while continued internal discord risks further weakening the team’s morale. The episode highlights a broader issue: the need for stronger leadership, better communication, and a culture where players support each other rather than challenge authority. Ultimately, the club must prioritize unity, discipline, and performance over public posturing to rebuild its identity.

Stick to football is brought to you by our title partner, Disney Plus. Watch a lifetime of great stories on Disney Plus. They're coming in. They're coming now, Gatti. Excellent. They're just doing the corridor question. The corridor camp. Yeah. Best front free of all time. Do you know something? The best front free of all time. Yeah. The United's was Tevers Rooney Ronaldo. Yeah. But. And all of the pools was for me, no, Salar and Manet. Do you reckon it's better than once before the Liverpool. Would you know something? You've got B7, they'll buy them. Let's. I'm gonna see what they all say when they come in. Sure, there's messy name as well, how that is. That's. That's the best front free of all time. Easily. Yeah, it is. Coming on the side, you see that. That's how you have to come in. That's how uncle used to come into the house. What's that? I mean, G-force. Yes, Ian, how are we? Hey, look at that. There you go. God, why is my mouth so wide open? I got you on the front cover of 442. Thanks, Gary. Not loaded. Not GQ. Not Forbes. 442. So, who should be 442 here? You'd be like that, Salar, you hear me? You'll go down well, don't worry. Ah, look, it's lovely. I love how them questions, voices, my answers are wrong, well, it's just an opinion. You know the. Yeah, but Roy doesn't agree with anybody else's opinion. Have you not worked that out in the three years? Oh, yeah, I've worked that out. Am I. You happy, do you look at your. Yeah, I like it, but if you're seeing Jimmy's picture, he looks possessed. Let's see. He is possessed, have you not? Yeah. He's a crazy guy. It's actually funny. Can you see? Right, you look a million dollars. No, I don't. Look at Gary. Gary looks. Wow, my mum would be happy. Show me. Show me my picture, Jill. You look good. No, I'm not great. You look good. Happy? Who did you say to him right now? I need you to drink in time. So, I said Beckham, Geekson, Paul. My name is Salah. Oh, it's not a bad song. Ah, you know, I went with. A little bit of bias going in there. You're still missing Suarez. It is absolutely Ness, Messy, Neymar and Suarez. Thank you very much, Gary. Yeah, no, I get that. It is. It is. Thanks, girl. I thought I'd be biased. I was manager of Valencia when they beat 7-0 and Messy, Suarez and Neymar were the front three. And he left them on the whole game. I think he might have brought one of them off a couple of minutes before the end. I have never seen speed and connection and combinations and attacking play like it ever. And to fair, Ronaldo, Rune, Tevez, for a period will, like, devastate on counter-attacks. Yeah, David. No, I saw the other day as well. I saw some link up with Messy Magnificent. Yeah. A personal team, which Gary went into. Yeah. Yeah. But if you get international teams, Brazil in the 70s, it'll be too z-core. Oh, we forget. Was it Revaldo? See, Aldo? Exactly. Yeah, I was just trying to say that. That question came out a bit more respect. It is, yeah. Because it's too quick. I said that too much. Too much time. Now I'm going to have to go up the top of my head. Yeah, boy, there's quick fire. So I get up at quarter to four in the morning. Oh, there you go. And I get a voice note. And I'm like, that's weird. That's not right. 10 past three in the morning. I thought, "Is something really bad up in there?" I'm sorry, Steve. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. We left him sure. It was a ventful. It was a ventful. It's the probably the worst nightmare you'd have once you had. I'd known that I wouldn't have slept. But did you definitely mean you got a spare room for me that happens again? Of course. Of course, sir. Yeah. Absolutely. You know what? You should have found me on a-- I had a cash. Two minutes. I had a cash. I had a cash. I'm worried. How much do you know what? I said to Gillette a period, like a 30 second period. And I think Carter's going to jump out here or-- So why don't you drop me on like a UB? What did it make? Or pumped off? But yeah, it's 20 minutes and he told me that the company getting too big too fast. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. And there's nothing about the next two minutes. You're right. You're right. You're right. It's nothing to do with that. Wow. You know something. I was thinking what's this going to be? Exactly. Everything. So basically, right, Roy is interpreted. Right. So basically, someone's not showing up at a hotel till 3.30 in the morning. The hotel and get to 12 o'clock to get someone offering them the final room in the Gogonville Techies. Won't you come in? He's not coming. Yeah. Well, I probably more. You can probably get a lot more of that time in the morning. So sometimes your best rates you get in a hotel is when someone comes in a little bit drunk and says, if you've got a room left and you say, yeah, but we've only got one left for a thousand pounds and they pay it. Yeah, yeah. And hotels do that. And they sold your room because thinking you're not turning up. And that's I guarantee that. That's okay. By the way, that's fine. That happens to probably a lot of people. But I've stood there for 20 minutes. And he's messing with his new mouse and he's going. On your own, you know, on your tap on the phone, the fellas doing this with the mouse and clicking the button. You know, it's like that advert where you see where they're at. He goes to me. Can I just take your deposit out? And I'm, I'm, why are you paying for it, though? Exactly. You're not paying for it, though. Oh, he's had any access on the room. Me made does the same with the other guy. You know, it's like somebody who booked that room. Should have said he's going to be getting laid. I've got the confirmation and it says on the conversation. A late arrival. No. Late arrival. It said later. Yeah. We debuts everything. Late arrival. Coming late on. We've actually got a full apology. Just the treatments I get in Manchester, didn't it? Was it what do you want to do? Wow, it's terrible. Stevie, my name. What's it? Rob, they've got previous. Here it is. You come. This is your bag. Here it is. Here it is. Here it is. It's your game. I take personal responsibility. Remember, remember, you dragged me to Geneva somewhere. We don't have a gig. Oh, yeah, it's true. I wasn't me in the hotel room. It was my hotel room, wasn't it? It was my room. Yours was booked. It was my room. Oh, no, you swapped all of them. The printable that was one of the rooms. It was only one room. Yeah, it's my room, yeah. That time. This has got each one. Yeah, I'm not an event. Oh, my gosh. Karen, we did everything. We did everything. They even emailed back saying we know who's coming late. I was in Sicily two weeks ago. And no word of a lie. I won't mention the airline. The overbook by it. It was a problem because Mount Etna erupted. So, basically, they were pushing everyone to different airports. The overbook by 31 people. Wow. They do that. That's not right, is it? Oh, my God. They put over the flap of 31 people. The best part of the final story. Anyways, it didn't have a house key. So, when I drove an hour back to Liverpool, it didn't have an house key. Did you knock someone up? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. How did that go? You're in the bathroom. He slept in the garden. He was in the bathroom. No, I had that and I'd be fine. It was just me and a girl and there were only one of us can go. And I felt so bad and we were just waiting to see which name came up on the computer and it was mine. And if I hadn't had to be back for work, I would have let her go. She left me out. Yeah, but I wasn't. I didn't know her. I didn't know her. I was just so stupid I did feel bad. What's this guy? But why did they overpook them? Why did they do that? So basically, oh, it's the Catania, the airport. You couldn't fly from there. So there's another airport in Sicily called Palermo and there's other ones on the Italian mainland. And so what they've done is everybody going back to England or everywhere. It was being diverted to different sort of airports and they literally just put all the book here. And there was an American woman in order to actually not move at the front. I'm getting on this fly. I've got cancel. Yes, he's going crazy. And I felt sorry for it, but I said, yes, it's stressful in it. I said, she was number like 18 in the queue out of 31. And I said, you're just not going to get on it. I don't know what to do. Don't get on yours. Believe it or not, I got a seat, but if you don't have a seat book, you were done. Oh, nice. Yeah. It said a signed seat at the desk or whatever on the ticket and she was done. Travelers get more stressed here. It's traveling. Saying that I went to the airport. I strongly call me an airport Steve. I call me an airport Steve. Do you get stressed? Honestly, the euros stop. I get, I'm really stressed. I'm not going to get on tour. I just want to pitch you a new day. Yeah. I think I can get that out, actually. Why, you know. What is it? See that? So much what you want me to do. Well, it was exactly in. Right. I'm going to get this up as well. I know why you looking me up number. No, I just said, but no, what's up? Because you didn't tell me wrong. I'm just kidding. I've got a, there's a gist of it. No, I've asked. The guy was a pest. Oh, is this something got someone, yeah, I saw it, they posted it and said that Roy Keane weren't happy or something. There we go. And Keane expedited his face. Keane expedited his face. The Keane. See, I don't know. What was funny about that, what am I supposed to do? Do a dance for people. Just be a little mild. Show. No, just show. And you're wanting to look, show. Oh, load your name. Like, why are you showing my name for that? Just come over. And another 10, come over. Just brings people. Here we go. He knew what Keane was playing. I spotted Keane in call airport. Keane ran to that. He ran to that. He's on the following in Mr Keane out loud. Because, quote, don't you think I'm trying to be discreet wearing a fucking cat? I don't think I saw it. Then ended up being two rolls in front of me on the fly. Exactly. And then take a picture of the underflight. Is that what you did? Is that on the flight? No, the other picture. The other picture. The one where you can see his hat. Oh, that's for that. There you go, Gary. That's for for that. How does that make you fly yourself? Exactly. Because the guy. See if you do that though in the Middle East. You're done. Big trouble. Wow. Big trouble. What's like a picture someone? When I first arrived in Saudi. No, when you put your little small bags through the actual layer of security. The guy takes his life. Picture. Week. Week in jail. Oh, airport. Why do you think we need wheels like that? Wow. We need wheels like that. Well, it went straight to stop this. Of course. Yeah, not a week. Ten years in prison for you. That's quite. No, but the guy who wanted to be seen. Yeah, listen. Righty, sad happening. Wasn't it this week, Arsenal? You know something. Terrible news, Ken Friar. I remember when I am. Obviously he's been there. Story, Ken Friar, been there. So what? Since he was 12. He started working at Arsenal. he died arrested so eight years, you know, he was the one who used to take me to the hearings, you know, to discipline hearings. You know, I mean, he was very busy. But like, I remember when I first signed and he was telling me what I can achieve here, if I just be myself and ask the way, because everything about him was steeped in Arsenal and I remember he'd come with me and afterwards, I'd get fined and he'd always give me a word as, you know, word as mint, you know, whatever about it, just keep doing, just keep playing where you come. He was, yeah, when he started, yeah, he started in the ticket office right, and he built all the way for us. He's one of those people in a football club that's been a football club and everything that the football club is steeped in is that's what he represents. So for someone like him to go, it's devastating news to a lot of people last, amazing man. He put a great tribute on last night's. Oh, it's fantastic, honestly. Nice touch. What he means to the club, yeah. What he that means to the club is very hard to try and put into words. So, we're going to start with Manchester United. Only Manchester United could drag Manchester City off the top. We can't talk about City on. City on is a hope in some ourselves in the United City. So, it's like the deflection of. We've grabbed defeat from victory. I mean, we're going to go straight to, we'll just start with the Sandral Martin, his comments last night. Should a player, I mean, the fans this morning, Manchester United fans a lot of them are happy that he's spoken out because it's the sort of lot of their feelings that the top don't invest enough that the players, the squad isn't strong enough, so they're supportive of it. Are we supportive of it from the point of view? From a different aspect, from a player's point of view, a coach's point of view. It's unhelpful. Yeah. It's unhelpful. I would say. You know what I just. You know what I got? No, I was going to say, right, it depends on on his motives. Why do it now for us to start? You know, even if there was, you can try and say, are you going to sign in January? You know, United are going to need to do well this season, so as they can buy players into some, which is going to be tough for them anyway, because they're going to need to get into the Champions League so you can attract that player. But I can't understand why in October you're saying something when nothing can change. What's the benefit of him doing this? Now, you look at him and you think to yourself, if he's that person, there's two ways I think it can, it can, it can pan out. If he's that person that, right, I want to dig in on a play for United, they've stuck behind me. I've been injured for over 100 games and they stuck with me. I'm going to be one of those players that stays on the jury that brings United back. So when you look at somebody's up at the end of the season, he's saying something like, it's almost like throwing in, throwing in a grenade. Like I say, there's two scenarios for him here. I really going to stay and help United through or he's going to go. I don't know why and what the benefit of him coming out and saying that now as much as, of course, the fans are going to love it. It's everything the fans want to hear from the player leader in the dressing room, World Cup winner, talking about stuff like that. What stuff they are. What ride have we got to say what a player should and shouldn't say? No, I'm not saying what we should say. I'm not saying this right or wrong, but I'm just saying, that's what players do. He comes up with the role of doing it on the TV, live after games. They're going to do on social media. Who we'd to say that what players can and can't say. There'd be some fans to get this great. The other fans say, no, you're letting the team down, particularly players not being at it's very best. The team is struggling. He's only played 80 games himself. Yeah, but CV said, what's the, you know, for somebody like that? Yeah, I get it. I don't see the benefits, but also, look, you're going to go if a player wants to get something off his chest. Who we'd consider and go, players can't say, because the modern player, they seem to, if they don't do it on the TV, they'll do it through different avenues, social media, through the regents. But that's devastating. That's night-roising it for the club. It's not good. Yeah, it's not good. It's just, of course, if you're the manager, if you're Michael Carrick now, and you obviously have got a player who's criticized the board, he's criticized the sporting director, but the thing. Yeah, he criticized the players on their own. No, but yeah, he has, this is the big problem I do have with it. So, I have a problem with it. When Wayne Rooney made a statement back in 2000, in turn, where he said that basically the club weren't ambitious enough around signing players, to me, that is a direct criticism of his team, saying that they're not good enough, because they should be signing more players. So when Los Angeles says, so I've got a problem with it from a player's perspective, we made, to prepare me and Giggs's spot, we wanted them on and after. He apologized to all the players and he apologized publicly, because we said, why are we not good enough in the dressing room? Do you not think we're good enough to win the league? Now, obviously, he was talking about the club out ambition of to sign new players. That is a direct attack on the players that you're playing, when that maskiness says they should have brought more players in, he's directly attacking his teammates. So, if I was a player this morning, if I was brewing up an anders and I was hiring McGuire and the other senior players, I'd be absolutely fuming with him, because you're simply saying that some of us shouldn't be here and we should bring in more players in. That's what I think he's saying. Do you think it was premeditated, because I think Wayne was talking yesterday and he said that he thinks, because I was having a cup of tea and I was actually shocked when he did the interview, because I thought it was an opportunity, I thought Manianite had actually played all right, to be honest, to miss the few opportunities in the first half and he said, it was a really poor performance and I just thought it wasn't the right time to do that. I think it just puts more peace on the club, he's got very unusual stuff to do. I've never heard ever to be fair, I can't think of what, I've never really heard him speak him. No, but I've never had a player ever go at a sporting director before, usually they own his or sometimes their own players on the manager, I've never really never got a sporting director. That tells me that the senior players are talking about as a group and just thinking it doesn't help Michael, and the either playing leads at the weekend, it's more negative, it tells me that they're not aligned as a club. I take a reflector from the club, obviously chaos there, it turns into a bit of a circus. But at the same time, I agree a little bit with Roy where sometimes a player comes and does an interview in its robot, and he just says straight back to every question we say, you know, and not honest and off the board and blah, blah, blah. So I admire the fact that he's tried to be honest and open, he's actually tried to protect Michael Curry, in a way, but he's made a bigger man. The first thing you do after when you go to a difficult spell at your night, the issue I have with a certain player saying certain things we've got, you always have to sat with the man and the mirror, are these lights on the top of their game? Some of you say that when you want a few games, go ahead and have had a stronger squad, we could have maybe, but when you're on the back of some defeats and you're struggling and all the stats are good from, just again, I also think it's a comment behind the scenes in it. If you're really thinking that and it's hitting you that much, just go and see Jason Wilcox or go and see Jim Rackliffe, go and speak to him behind closed doors and just get it off your chest. But this has come from a player who's only played eight games from I get out of there. He's not played three, four, five hundred games, you go, do you know what? It gives you go away every week, obviously, that's on top of it, that's on top of all the, where he's coming from, you've got to listen, that's where I go, look at the man and the mirror, before he start coming up with all these comments, go back to it, at least start playing well yourself. Thank you. So that's, yeah, just two things, one, should he say it, and is it helpful, I think, and then there is, there is, then we disagree with the words, I don't think we disagree with the words he said, because actually, we all thought United should sign more players in the sun, we all thought should sign more defenders, we all thought they should, but we're going to be careful, my point is that our player shouldn't shouldn't, we can go through all of us, here as players, we've all done and said something, we probably look back and go, that could have been better. All of us. Yeah. Every one of us. Right, do you know something, for me, sometimes it's the statue, Salah last season, if you remember, came out against slot, then Ronaldo came out a few years ago, remember against the club. You saw, sometimes, a statue of a player, a player that's actually so we've got a real carry in the dressing room. I think that sometimes, you sort of, you can get away with it a little bit, if it's a player that, to be fair, he gave the goal away and to talk to them, I think he was involved in both goals, being given away last night, to be honest with you, he gives the goal away, I think he's involved in the goal at full of my thing as well. Yeah, not only on the disc, my point is he gave me the goals away all the time, and you could come out and say that, he's like, I think there's always a motive. Yeah, I think that's what I'm saying, Steve, I've seen, of course, it might sound what I'm saying, I think that he's, Cheeky's after a new contract, and they've said no or something or, maybe, or he wants to, or he's, or he himself may want to, want to move on, because I cannot see what, why is he doing that now, bringing all that in, because now he's got to play consistently well, I think it might be a combination of both. You know what it is, that's what I'm saying, when I, it's intriguing, I find it very intriguing simply because why now? Right, you're at a club, I'll come to all of you separately, start with you, you're a manager of the football club right now, he's come out and done that last night, he's criticised the owners, he's criticised the sporting director, he's effectively said, we're not good enough by saying the squad's not good enough, I want more players, which is direct attack on the squad, it is, whichever way you look at it. How do you deal with that moving forward? I'm definitely not going to have a chat with him over next year or two and just say, listen, you need to say, I might agree with you, your time was in great, whatever it might be, yeah. I think I go five times, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, different, different temperament. Do you play him on Sunday, do you keep, does he, does he miss a game or two for that, or does he stay here now? Michael will speak to people around him and above him as well, won't he? Yeah, you've got some guidance, I should imagine. If you don't play him, it adds more noise to the situation, I would just squash it, look, it's being said, there'll be other news coming now. What if he doesn't want to apologise though? What if he actually doubles down and he says that's when it's, that's when it's a problem. But years ago, he used to try and terminate players' contracts, you know, and it said something, you know, that's what they're used to. But it depends on his real, does he really feel that the people upstairs and the man and everything was going on, he's not good enough because he wants to see Man United back where they were, or just stirring up on the road, knows that the fans are going to, to get Man United back to where you think they should be near the top of the table is to start defending better. As you said, it is October, what are they going to do? They can't wait until January, you're not going to get top players in January. And some of his criticism, you're all about his team, it's about our delight, you've come into the club, who are supposed to be setting into the club, and he's seen your players are supposed to be helping them, even all this new midfield stuff, and the balance isn't right, but it is. When you're supposed to embrace these lads, you're supposed to help them. If they're not up to it, they're not up to it, but you're supposed to try and help them. You know what, as well, you have to look at Man United and what they're trying to say. He's had a dig at Jason Wilcox and, you know, and what he's trying. You can't tell me Jason Wilcox is not trying to get the players. - It's a press press press, you know what I'm saying? - Money. - Right, they're trying to get those players. - I thought you see. I thought it was really strange to have a go at Jason Wilcox, not because he's above criticism. But the budget is not going to be set by Jason Wilcox at the football club. The budget's going to be set by the owners. And if he's saying he needs more players to come in, it was obviously needing more defenders. He'd be probably one of the first on the sort of chopping block if there was going to be players at the club. But why does every team, every time they're having a difficult spell, but need more players? You know, you should be doing better than what you're doing. Okay, they're behind us and they haven't got the strength to obviously sit in. But you should be doing better lads. You go back to basics, as well, so you go looking. And sometimes you have to have a meeting with players and go, "Yeah, does last go down the club, things aren't. When I happy with things above us, but we can be doing better." But you go back to that, you always say it's about players. If you look at sort of just the two direct rivals, City and Arsenal, Arsenal have got a left-back in Cape A, Califurian, Louis Scully, United last night, they didn't have him playing at left-back when Luke Shaw's out, which he's just. I mean, he's willing. You know, City have got Gavardial and Nico O'Reilly. The gulf in difference of depth, of quality, is incredible. We don't want to start from. We know that, but we've been chained up for the last time. Oh, Ellie and Anderson. Yeah, exactly. We've been saying that for the last two. No, but I'm saying to you, is when he says we need to bring more players and he's not wrong in what he says. I get that all spoiled. You need to be doing better. Yeah, he needs to be doing better. Well, back to that. Michael's big problem as well is that's coming from one of his senior players. Yeah. So that'll be alarming and that. You know, normally when you're a culture manager, you need your senior players there. We're aligned on the same page, same beliefs. You know, clearly done. Science is created, so that would be the biggest problem. Do you feel undermined. If you're the manager last night and your player goes out and does that, I think, would you feel undermined as a manager that you've not got control of the dressing room and that you feel like it's a bit chaotic and out of control? It definitely crossed your mind, but I think the character that Michael has known and when I played for him, he won't want to make this any bigger than it is. He'll want to put the flame out of your life. And I think, as a coach, you want it to go away and focus on leads. You know, you don't need to. But wouldn't it be nice if Karakimov and the next few days and actually showed another system? Because we're all sitting there going, he's, that's not his nature. Come on, come on, you're the same guy. Well, listen, we want to tolerate that again. He knew? He should. No, he could come up and go. We're not going to tolerate it. Why he needs to focus on has been a really good defender and get some clean sheet. And then move on, we got. All right, OK. I think a strong statement could be needed very, very rapid. The best statements are football results. Yeah. Go to leads and win. Whatever, we'll get something, get a clean sheet, do something, because even last night, you're going for all the chat and you're going down after 50 odd seconds. Is that down to the loop in the summer? You know, you look at Michael, we might, you know, I'd have preferred Michael Karak to come out and say this is certainly Sandra. Because you look at Michael Karak and everybody saying he's dead man walking as a manager, he's going, oh, he's going to go in January. He might as well go. You look at the managers, like, deserve being an even like, um, marino, you know, mereska. They would call these people out. I think, oh, like, I'll ain't done it. I'll let you call them out. If I'm Michael Karak, I probably, I'd probably call them out. Because you know that at some say, you know what, you know what, you know, I thought, I'd go with something. You know what, I fear done that and I've just been gone. Yeah. Michael probably wants to stay and make something good that he wants to probably win it back. He wants to try and. Do you think he can, though? This is what I'm saying, Gary, do you think he can? The lads will know more than me. I think he's got the thoughts behind him. I don't think he's Michael style to be volatile. But I think it'd be nice the next few days if he did come out and just say, oh, no, just good, I wasn't good enough. You know, listen, we want to keep that in the dressing room. It's out now. But we need to focus on being a team that can compete and keep clean sheets. It's also a little bit of a gold tray. There's lots of things in a football and pitched any to sort out. You can give him a slap on the wrist and go, listen, that's not accepted, but we move on. Is there a bit of frustration? Because, like, why did Kun you not play yesterday? I'm actually a big fan of his. I know he's played like seven games and then is there a bit of frustration that he has to be rested? He played, he played Belieber. But surely he plays, Aki. And Sansos, he tried to. I think he just tried to get a little bit more. The game wasn't great. The standard of the game wasn't great, anyway. But it was always going to be struggle to get. But I saw United had chances in the first half of the crew. It had let go of chances. United aren't like that, it's going to be. Do you want to quit? You never said this after Tottenham when he made the mistake with Solanki, did he? Mm-hmm. No. No. No, no. It's like just a shot of a sudden play. Exactly. I think Solanki ragged old him. It's interesting that Romero, we obviously was playing for our 30th comedy. Last night, he said something very similar at Tottenham at the end of last season, didn't he? It's a pattern, isn't it? Because he wanted the way. Exactly. Yeah, I mean, listen, he made plenty of mistakes last night as well. Don't think about it. He's all of a sudden breaking. Yeah, but he was giving the ball away cheaply where United should have scored on the back of certainly two golds. You're just getting red cards, aren't you? But last night, he was just giving all of it cheaply in midfield. I don't think it was a red yesterday. No, no. Recently, some of the red cards have been like the Liverpool one, it was never red. Correct, you're correct. No, I actually got on there, Garry. It was, we just. I hope we go back to. I didn't think the Luke showed up. We go back to our time, we're on about Sydney last week. Sometimes these dressers, we think, that's big news, that maybe they'll come in this morning the next year or two, and I go, yeah, he's just at his light. He's a little ranting. Yeah. Players move it on quickly as well. You think the players will be. Do you believe the players? I mean, look, they're already going through a nightmare spell. They can't win a football match. The pressure on them is big. Do you honestly believe the players in that dresser in this morning are welcoming that statement? Or do you think they're sitting there and thinking. Not sitting there, well, I'm not sitting there giving them the thumbs up. But they're also probably gone. Do you know what I would have? We've got. We're struggling with football matches. Let's, let's, let's, let's rant. I don't think it'd be a big fall, and now. How many? Because I think we've questioned actually about the stress of the manual. I don't think there's enough characters, enough men in there anyway. We know that. And the players are coming up with comments like that. I'm not even different from what you've been saying. It's easy to see what you've been doing, though. But I don't see. You've mentioned this scene. I don't see him as a senior player at Man United. I see him as a Sunday App, who's making lots of mistakes. Welcome. He's that little rant. Welcome. Yeah, that's an international level. I'm on the board. He's played 80 games from Man United. He's not been there eight, nine years. He doesn't look like he respects people. What are you doing in the next scene? In the session, no, that's you. If you didn't like that, that's the issue that I could cause. Because it could ruffle a few feathers, you know? Yeah, when you're talking about that, but I hope that's there all the time. I hope there's an edge to training anyway. Put it this way. If his centre-half is talking like that, and then he's starting to train a session, and you'll be looking to be going, "You better start keeping it straight." And if Garry said that, I think you'd go through him. Look, I can't look to be fair, never, never, probably wouldn't have said something like that. I would never have said, "Look, Garry, would you never, Steve said, would you try that?" That's why it's bad, I would be talking to you. You don't see it. But we never, you know, we have to stop all that before. Right, we have to stop all that before it gets to that stage. I heard players at United last year's gone, "Oh, we've got to sort things up." You kind of, you sort of before you need sort, no? That's what you're trying properly with an edge. But maybe, there may be meetings internally that you'd have where you'd say things, and things that you'd say. Once you say something, publicly like that. Look, the only people I think will enjoy this will be the fans, because they get in a real insight into what part of the dressing room thinks. - Hmm. - Look, that's the right way. - No, no, no, let me stop. - No, no, no. - Let me stop. - Let me stop. - You're trying to second yourself. - So you're on about United, senior players. Let's give an example of last three or four months, their senior players. We class prune as a senior player, don't we? We class, we. - I don't know. Maguire as a senior player. The last few months, so this reflects where Manianade and his dressing room is. Maguire gets left out of the dinghy squad. Big. He's all upset with that. He goes, so the player's mindset at Manianade at this moment of time, we're all about competing and trying to get back to the top. Maguire gets that upset, he says, but instead of rolling his sleeves up, you're on the show, I'm going to go to New York and do a podcast for a few weeks, right? That's his mindset. I kind of made a mistake here with Brune on this program. Bruneau goes on a podcast with. You're on it. No, what's his name? What's that like about, look? Yeah, what's that problem? - No, what's that problem? - Harry Potter here. - Star of a senior. - Listen to this. So he's a captain of Manianade, he goes down there, and as a little digger me, no problem, he's entitled to respond. - And what's the program called? - Diary of a CEO. Diary of a CEO. So that's a mindset of a Manianade player. I'm going to start doing these little gigs instead of getting Manianade at competing at the very top. So this idea, when I see a player have a little bitch to last few days, I'd be more than I do at Maguire and Bruneau for getting things off their chest on podcasts. And what's it called? Don't put a divy people off coming on those guests on podcasts. - I know, but you get your priorities. - You get your priorities. - You can't say Harry next week. - No, no, no. Harry who goes, "Cancel next week." - Well, here you are, you man. - Get your priorities as a footballer. But I always think there's a club like, "What happens?" We always had the motto, like, "You just keep everything in house." - Like, I told you. - It's a gun. - It's so humiliating. - There's another side. - The Allo says something as well. - Yeah. - The Allo says something on a cover. - Oh, yeah. - I think, I think, look, I don't know him even more than the interview. - What did he say? - Oh, he laughed. - That's where I don't hear it. - Yeah. - Yeah. - That performance was a fucking disgrace or something. - But you know what, I told you wrong performance. - That we see magazines. - Yeah. - Back in our day, it was more magazines than podcasts. But if a player kind of went on and said something, even silly, he'd come in and just, "And lads would go." - What are you talking about? - What are you talking about? - Yeah. - And you've put them in a place in that sense. Not a big bust up, or go? - 'Cause we're February, we're weighing it. We're weighing in 2010. Because we sort of as a direct attack on the dressing room on the first. - And it was. - And he shouldn't have done it. - So yeah, so we basically just said, "Look, apologize to the players. Apologize publicly." And he did to be fair to him. I think this morning, maybe it's matters. Could just say lads, I'm sorry. - I can't see that. - I was emotional. I can't say that about the tea. I love the squad here, I think, you know, et cetera, et cetera. However, just going back through what he said, let's just look at the pattern over the last seven or eight years of things that have been said by players or managers at Manchester United. - Exactly. - Because, if, well, I don't think you can disagree wholly. We've strange what he said about the sporting director because he doesn't set the budget. He seems to me if he's definitely got the sporting director, he's definitely got the quality of the player the sporting director has brought in, which I think would be a direct attack on the lads in the midfield. So Ralph Ranney said, "You don't need glasses and it's to see an analyse where the problems are. It's now, how do we solve them? It's not enough to do minor elements cosmetic things. In medicine, you say this is an operation of the open hearts. Wow. I'm sorry, I'm, um, open heart surgery is talking about now for United. Yeah. So Louis Van Gaal, the problem begins with, of course, Manchinite was never refreshed. I think when you're a manager, you have to refresh every year to keep the tea building process. I didn't get the players that I wanted, and that's the problem. So that's another manager. But I'm just saying, these, these are manager, after my Ronaldo, I've got Ronaldo quote here from somewhere Ronaldo interview. Yes, it's not only the coach though, which is what, to be fair, Lassandro Matias said, it's the other two or three guys around the club I felt betrayed. Honestly, I don't know. I don't care. People should hear the truth. The club is not evolved at all. The progress was zero. So again, that's a big, that's a big player. Ronaldo, Lassandro Matias, Ralph Ragnic, Louis Van Gaal, I think there's a merino one here somewhere. Yeah, but never. I've got more cars than, I should, Lev, but that's not the club we know. So when you're talking like that, that's, that's not man United, that we knew. We were united. We were, there was a togetherness. The ups and downs. There's a pattern of criticism here, Royal. That's my point. So obviously not together. It is chaotic there from the top to the bottom. We see that we got, I said this a few weeks ago, we got to our match days, and I don't like the feeling on the club. It's just the people. It's just seems chaotic. Statements can reflect it. Young players can not with statements. We added with 15 or 16, we spoke about all that kind of chaos, and I'm not knocking these lads. That's just the journey these lads are on, but it's just chaotic. It's chaotic. It's chaotic. It's chaotic, it's chaotic, but the whole day I got to Caracas the manager. We said from there one, it was better options out there, and maybe the players are looking at, there's better options, there's players out there. It's like a circus. That's man United is a circus. So what happened last night? I watched the game and the result, and I had a few chances to get up. If you chaos after the game, you got, but that's the expert from Man United. Now, a tight game, they're probably going to lose and there'll be some lot of noises after the game from comments. But you look at the players again, you go, I go back to it. If you can, try and do your talking on the pitch. If you have to let off a bit of steam, okay, but try and do it on the back of some victories or whatever, when you've won a league title or something like that, these players have done nothing for the last few years at Man United. Two years ago, we're finishing targeting or whatever. Get knocked up by Grimsby, and they're coming at all these comments. You'd have to say, that would be the first question. That's my problem with it. I think that ultimately is a guy whose costume two points on Saturday, whose costume to be fair last night, the second goal to be fair, he just drifts across, and then the ball gets played inside him. The first goal, he goes in tight in midfield, he's had turns, and then plays it in behind. So he's involved in every goal to give away, full of them the same. If I was giving goals away. If you make a mistake, you shoot your mouth in the top. I think that's a different way. When Wayne speaks, he knew it was coming from a good place because he would work his ass off on the pitch, and he did just one better for the club, and he probably apologised out of respect. No, but a week later, Wayne was asking for a transfer, wasn't it? No, I know, but he still did. It's different. It's not just that way. Wait, wait, wait, wait. I think Wayne was out of order when all the stuff he was doing. No, I know, but I'm sorry. Jail Wayne had won four for me. I mean, his Wayne was a top player. You needed them? He won four for the titles and Champions League. He was a player who'd won a double league, won Champions League, won titles, and by the way, he was in the world. Every club in the world wanted them. So I think if Roy Kean speaks, if Ronaldo. Yeah, but you're more, you're a bit more forgiven to Wayne because the team were winning. Is that what you said? But also, I think the stature of the player, I think there's element of it. If a player comes out like Roy Kean or Ronaldo or Wayne Rooney, or Stephen Jackson. Don't I feel united, he's been successful for United Wayne. I'm not saying he's entitled to say that because no one is at, in my opinion, but this is a smarty and as he's done. Well, could Bruno, would Bruno McGuire, two senior players, a spring to mind, I wonder, would he be pulling him this morning, go? I think they should be pulling him this morning saying, look, but they're probably busy doing podcasts. But that's my point. I don't think he's going to be on that track. I can't imagine him pulling him. I'm hoping. You know, I'm a Bruno's body language, Reese. I'm a Bruno's body language. He doesn't seem a happy lad at the moment. But I'm hoping, Roy, this morning, that Bruno and McGuire, Harry McGuire, pull him in and say, look, you can criticize the sporting director, you can criticize the owners, you can basically do whatever you want, but you basically said they needed to bring more players in, didn't they? I mean, that, that, let's get as well, so. That's not his role at the club, is it? No, but that's my point. You said something about the manager, you needed more support in the summer, in terms of Ireland? Yeah, let me speak. There we go. I have to control myself a lot, but sometimes it's a reflection of how our club is. We're the fantastic season, but we expect a lot more. Sorry, can I stop you there again? Yeah. We had a fantastic season last year. I know. There you go. That's where he's coming from. He actually thinks he had a fantastic season. Wow, he should've been. Got me, you walked out. Thank you. Which way is just for saying that? Right, but this is the key line, I think, that ultimately the players should pull him up on. And now we expect more from the top, from upstairs, to bring in more players' heat, because many teams have brought in many players as well. Now, to be fair, what he says is right, they should have brought in more defenders. However, you can't say that as a player. Not publicly. Because if you say that publicly as a player, you're effectively saying the players that I'm playing with are not good enough, so that's where the players have to pick him up. I think Bruno and Harry McGuire were pulling this morning and saying, look, you saying they've got to bring more players? Who are you talking about? Who do we need to replace? There's a lot of young players there as well. Not a young player. Nobody. I don't think that mindset happens now. If you're Lenny Euro this morning, you're Aiden Heaven, and you've got a little bit of a doubt about settling into the first team, and you're a young player, and you're thinking, Jesus, about my will cook when he's sent a backer, said they should have brought more players in, so I don't play. You're really feeling nervous this morning, Angus. So, he's having to go, forget the fact that they do need more players, and they do need to bring in better defenders. I'm sure we said that back in the day. We need better players. Publicly. I'm sure we did an interview's going, because we obviously said when you had the big club's new players coming and helps you improve. Right, I can only remember saying it. That's a way to say it. I don't remember that. I always remember saying the players that I've got in my dressing room. If someone said to me, would you rather. Not at all, but obviously you would be saying we need to. Alan Shira, or Alan Shira, or would you bring Alan Shira to your club? You'd go, "No, because I love Andy Cole, I love Dwight York." You'd definitely say that. You would never say, "Yeah, I'd love to bring Alan Shira," because the effects of what you're saying to the other lads is. Do you want to replace him? I don't think we'll say that right. No, I know what you're saying, but that's obviously the way you say it in the time and during the summer, if we'd one-stop now, you'd go, "Club would probably go and reinvest." You go, "Yeah, now we need that competition for places." "Oh, you say it in short ways, but of course I get it, not when you're not winning matches, and you're processing something a bad time, and in October, who are you going to get in? Who are you going to get in January?" Exactly. This episode of "Stick to Football" is brought to you by Disney Plus. Have you watched his new Oasis documentary? What? On Disney Plus now. The boys aren't too late at the moment, are they? No. They're a bit angry about football, aren't they? No, I don't know. All the rest of it. But they must be happy with the documentary, though, because they've got a new talk coming up. They haven't got a new talk on it. About their last tour of the documentary, didn't they? I must admit, I did go to Wembley last year. So did I. It was pretty special. You was Wembley? I went with Jack to Wembley. We had a great time. It was good. Yeah. It was good. It was a bit like, a bit nostalgic. Is there any relationship with football that you think reminds you a bit of Liam and No? Me and Cara? You didn't spend as many years apart, though, did you? We didn't. Is there a song by Oasis that, like, when you hear it, it takes you back to a particular time? Master Plan, because I actually was learning to play guitar from the age, I think, 27 to 31, and I used to love the Master Plan. It's actually a song that I would consider having at my funeral, not that I'll be there. We'll be there, actually. Whilst we're living, the dreams we have as children fade away. Okay. And it's my favourite line. Because I always remember, my dad said to me, "Never lose the eight-year-old in you." And whilst you're living, the dreams you have as children fade away. Now, I always remember that line, because I always think to myself, "Yeah, never let your dreams have as a kid fade away." Never let your. always stay. Never go cynical, never go. Always be like exuberant and enthusiastic. There's a Liverpool fan. We always had a banner, which I used to relate to a lot, which was a reference to The Slide Away, which was, "We see things they'll never see." And I used to try quite like that song. Slide away, I like it. They've got some great songs. Do you have a favourite gig of all time? The best gig, absolutely. I've remembered the best gig ever went to watch. It was with David Beckham and Fabian Bhattas. It was ten years of noise and confusion at all. And it was at the Apollo. And nodding a little acoustic set in the middle. And it was one of the best concerts I've ever watched in my life. It was incredible in the Apollo. Watching your 3,000 just really tight. It was incredible that night. Honestly, they were brilliant. Don't miss this one. Oasis. Don't look back in anger. A hula original film, new and exclusive on Disney Plus. There's too many Mancunions on this show. Football, football. It's what we talk about. Every day. So, come and join us. On overlap daily. Every week. One day to Friday. From 4 p.m. Watch on YouTube. And listen. Wherever you get your podcasts. Football. Football. In that order. Overlap daily. We'll see you soon. What does all this mean starting with you, Steve? What does all this mean for Michael Carrick in terms of the next month? What is going to happen here? I think he needs to win against Leeds massively. Because I think the heat will just get hotter. You need to deal with this situation first this morning. I, whether he speaks to the press or there's a statement with the club and Michael. after really, I think, set an example with this type of, you know, talk, communication, because it's not helpful going into big games on the back of it, the feet, put that to bed this morning and focus on the next game. Because there's no point Michael Cardock worrying about four, five fixes down the lining. You never know. But if he goes and beats Leeds, then he would, yeah, it was for a Jason Wick ox, he's hands on, isn't he, apparently, he's around the train and grow. So he will be, he is in our company, as long as you've got, you never see him, we see him, we see him, might have a day off today. Oh, right, so bad one for him. You're on with the atmosphere and your club going to Leeds, you weekend, one thing you want to be is again, you want to be united, you want to be together. So to just say the atmosphere of the next three days, because again, if that Wick ox is hands on, and what is all the training session is overlooking everyone sure, or you would be that, you have to feel for him as well, but, you know, Jason Wilkoss, because let's face it, the players you're trying to bring into Man United a lot, but they don't want to come to Man United, he's trying to get these players, players are choosing other clubs. That's what's happening in the United as well. Let's not forget that. Yeah. Players are choosing the clubs, you know. The last three years, the last three years, they spent the same as Arsenal. It's so Martin, it's like, Jason Wilkoss, let's get him in and say, we've invested the same as Arsenal. You should be playing better. And look what happened to Arsenal. We're champions. I think they should all just come to the club, and they'll be fine. We'll give them all a free drink on the house at the coffee shop. That's the Man United. That's the second plug. You know what it is, you're a bit of a go-kart. It's all in. You want a bit of a go-kart? You can't beat it. Forget Caution, it's too. Go-kart in to it, but it solves the call-cart. Yeah. Can we hear what anyone says? Jason Wilkoss, yeah. We've done that. We've done that all the evening, the champs league. Couchy nearly ran their kites over. The joke is, you know, that's the kind of silly thing. Are they in need? It's dangerous. They're not the after-mart and they're in the past. What do you think it means for Michael Carrick, Roy? This is just a gem-late. He's got a precious bill. I think you can't look further than. And it's leads as well, what leads a Man United. What that means, that result. So he's got to get through that result. That's the main thing. He's got to set everybody right so they can get through that result. And he might get a bit of a breather, and he could start thinking about where. Like I said, people are talking about him as he's going to be gone sooner. For who? To bring in who? To do what with the same things was happening at the United? What's going to happen? Who are you going to get next? You've gone for every kind of manager, the famous one, the young one and everything. It's unravelled quite quickly in the last month or so, isn't it? If he knighted just generally, think about where it's at today. Does in the Premier League, Gary? Does? It does? Yeah. I felt great to ask the Villa one day and three weeks later, I'd lost some on the spin, or whatever it was in the next minute, you've hung down the M6, but see this. It unravelled very quick. It's brutal, the league, especially if you're Man United. I don't know about winning next. So it'll get something out of the game. You have to get a point. Sure, compete. Sure, a United front, the players, the United fans have gone on obviously. I think that's the key to the United fans who go down and just will be fighting for the cause, but the players have to show proper fight. Because if you get that broken performance where it's all over the place, then it's another one. It's another one and then. It's difficult to pull it back. The running stats are not helping them at the moment, are they in terms of the energy they're showing during the game? It goes back to all the conversations about the characters and the leaders and the personnel you've got in the dressing room. Even the spores game, you're showing bitterly in the last five or ten minutes, and you know, you're just kicking and you're going, "Just keep the head." So trying to win a break in ball, trying to make a good ball or a bad ball, just get. Roll your sleeves up. They don't seem to be able to do it. And I know it's more than something, and great clubs have always had players who produce moments and nothing wrong with that. But just show that, but it's stayed where you're sliding across to get, you're up to get, you're back to get. And every time. Again, we go back to it. I think the biggest insult you can have as a player, I think. Particularly for you, they are easy to play against. There is space. There's even the force goal. They beat the force press and they're in our goal. Spores. They never pulled out the same issues last year, and every team was out running them out running them out. I just think, when you go into these periods, as a group of players, you get yourself together. No coaches, you say, "Look, Lads, whatever happens to the weekend, we run them more than these. We fight them more than we battle them more than. " Where's Case scenario? Show these fans that are coming. That will leave an everything out there. And then the rest comes off the back of that, doesn't it? But if there's that atmosphere, we just say, "Will Cox and the players are feeding that vibe we should have got put in." And that's just all that is around the club and the culture exchange. These players. We'll put this way. These players won't be forward. They won't. Man, you're playing for Mania, you got to lead. You should be going, "Yeah, yeah, absolutely. You're going to win." We'll go anywhere, we'll go anywhere, and compete. It's going to be hard, of course. But instead of going, "Oh, we're dreading going there. We're not sure what the recruitment, we're not sure what the signing is." "Will Cox is an awkward atmosphere and they're canteen." You're like, "Wow, what energy is that giving you?" Sometimes looking at running stats in isolation, I think sometimes we'll find a reason why teams are not doing well. I'm sure their possessions gone up. So the run start. Yeah, this season. So sometimes that can. When it's right, it's just. Why worry about the United States? Obviously, the run is not good. And last year, when Karak came to talk, right, there were probably a lot of the. Obviously, you got big results quickly. And that was sitting in, even a city against staff. You go, "Maybe they're a counterattack, a team." And Bruno was brilliantly picking people off under counterattack. But last time against Madrid, they actually had. They didn't have that. Madrid, who usually happy for the opposition to have the ball, had more possession in the United, and United still didn't look at threat. Do you know what I mean? They created one or two moments. So I was thinking, "Do you know how many teams you go back to being a team that sits in and plays under counterattack? Is that one of your strengths?" But even when they're doing that, no, they don't look nowhere near as fresh as they did last year. When Karak first got the job, they were picking teams off. When you watch that letter call Madrid, "Oh, these teams are so well-drilled." Like, you think the full-back stalk and they're just no exactly where we should. There's going to be, like, the passing. I'm not too good at you. Again, the one thing I look at teams, I don't care whatever level I'm watching, I'm going back, would it be work-up? Would it be solved for what's illegal-verling games you're in nice? You're looking at, you know, teams you play with energy in it, just as you guys are quick. For starters, forget you had a bit, for starters. If you haven't got that, you're in huge trouble. At least play with any. I had a letter call last night, you go on. Before the game starts, I'm sitting home going, "What are we going to expect?" And I go, "They're going to be full of energy, whatever happens." And again, I'd let it call. Yeah, a good. I still don't think there was strong as a couple of years ago, but it's still a bloody good team and established in Europe. But at least they'll have energy and enthusiasm. And you know, you didn't even have to go back to that and go, "Listen, let's roll our sleeves off." Particularly going to Leeds on Sunday, because guess what, Leeds will have on Sunday. They'll have it. More of that, and more of the crowd, as well. And they're doing all right, aren't they? I know, obviously, they'll see us on their computer. They're competing, doesn't they? They're competing. I'm really pleased to say the overlap are on the cover of this month's 442 magazine. It's got interviews with all of us and the team who make the show, too. Pick up a copy to find out about how we started, how the show's made, and what's coming next. And we've got a special offer. Use the voucher code, the overlap, all one word, to get 20% off the single issue and subscriptions. And here is the article. Carragas got something above my head. Didn't say that before. OK, let's move to the other man's club. I think there's a lot, obviously, been said about it. Me, you're at the game on Sunday. You're at the game on Sunday. You're at the game, obviously, Sunday Roy. I was at the game on Sunday, Jill, and Ian Adolfo, you were at the game. But. I was at Solford. - You were? - Yeah. - I was sad, I did not. - Sad. - I was at the Sunday. - I was sad. It was extremely strange, and. I mean, I made a statement that I don't want to do Managed City Game with the rest of the season, which. It wasn't a statement I'm not going to do Managed City Games for rest of the season. It was just a statement, but it wasn't enjoyable watching the actual match. Now, you've not been in the stadium yet, when you watch a Managed City Game, but I don't know if you felt the same, Roy, or you felt the same. - It felt very strange. - It felt very strange, and it felt like it was a bizarre situation. You know what, Gary, it's because it is a bizarre situation, and it's something that we're not used to. It's not meant to be happening. So, when you look at the city fans celebrating the players, that's fine what they're doing, but for us to not focus and get bored of this situation of what's happening now, we cannot say things like that, because it has to stay uncomfortable, it is uncomfortable, what's going on, and that's why you have to stay with it. As long as they are still in the Premier League having to play until it comes to an outcome, then you have to do what you do. You have to speak about it and what's going on. You have to do it. This is what I'm saying, girl, because what happens is that it's an uncomfortable game. It is, and to be fair, it wasn't an uncomfortable game to watch. It was, and three great goals. But how do we, because it is damaging now for the Premier League, we feel like we're watching games. We can't watch games in the Premier League where we're thinking, this is just a waste of time, and this is just something that's basically. There's no way that the Premier League are not trying to resolve this as quickly as possible. Did you enjoy the game a little bit? Did you, when the game was on, when it was on the game, it was more afterwards than before. Before and after and a half time, it was definitely. You know what, I've actually just enjoyed the game and focused on the game, but then when it was over, it was a bit of. I'm for an hour, it was, even though it was nail-knit, it was a real. But then the three goals make you, the three goals is what makes it work, they're good. Then three goals were fantastic. But then the distraction comes under. I wish we'd got to do it, you'd go, "All right, what is really happening?" But like, that's something that's got to be cleared up. It's like I say with the problem, it's the time, isn't it? The amount of time I just want to take, that's the problem for all of us. It's going to go on and on and on. Is the lack of corporation what's going on with City? Like I say, I've got no problem with a fan celebrating with the players having their medal, however they want to do it, but the fact is it's got to have an outcome. And I said this on Skyage a goal. So everybody can just get on with it because at the moment. But it does take time, right? Yeah, but because they're not cooperating. - Yeah, of course, man. - They're not corporate. - So it's, I think they're corporate too. We always talk about the integrity of the league. If city get fined, sorry, if city get deducted 30 points, I'm making it up in February or 40 points, you're going to be playing as a different manager city after that than you are before. It means it's just going to impact the whole league. So after this going on during a season, where they're playing meaningful matches, it's just, what can you do? What are you saying? You're saying it's better to be at the end of the season than rather than February, for example. A process is a process in law, in legal, in sort of what'll be any associate. I get that completely. But what I'm saying is so damaging for the Premier League right now. It is really damaging. And to be fair, it's really hard to actually commentate on their games and sort of. And so after the game, even after the game, you think it just doesn't feel right. Just go back, I always think about it as well for my city, but I have a problem with city players celebrating either or the fans celebrating. I think we're very good. Yeah, very good. I thought we're not talking about that in 15 minutes. But truthfully, no, but I had no problem with it. My point is, when we pulled out of the FA Cup in 2000, yeah, you're right. And at the time, when you're in the United, and you're in your bubble, you just base the siege mentality as against the world. You don't see sometimes the damage that it's doing to base the rest of the game. And when I look back now, and you think you've said it, since Roy, we've damaged the FA Cup. Now, we, to be fair, is players wanted to play in it, and we said we wanted to play in it, and the thing even the manager did. It was a case of, though, we had to play, I think, our kids, because we were away in this tournament. But the damage we did was really. Don't play any kids, which I mean, just. No, we could have basically gone all the way up. We could have up, and then we could have played the U of T. Because obviously it was on when we were away, Roy. So, we could have played the U of T. That was the thing that. Right. And we could have done that. But it didn't happen. But you don't think you're damaging the FA Cup when you're in the dressing room maybe at the time. You're sort of at the man United, everyone's against us. I think they will realise probably in a few years time the city plays in the FA Cup. I said it on Monday. I said in there, quiet moments, when they go home, after you're away from the game. There must be. After. The city performance was fantastic. And it's not on to do with the current group. And you understand the fans, and you understand, and respect the unity and the most, sticking together. A lot of clubs will probably do something similar. In their own moments as a fan, a current player and an expert, they must be thinking, we need this to go away first. Absolutely. Because it's all right to be in Liverpool and stuff, but as you go along, you're going to be thinking, we need all this to go away. No one's giving us praise for it. Stevie, I know my sister's fan who travels over to watch their games, and he came home for the Liverpool game on Sunday. He was staying for the three days for the PSG game, and he went back home yesterday. He texted me, said, "The toxicity around, I can't watch it." Me, can I see that? It is. Some city fans are now being implanted in thinking. I recommend that. Look at me here. I watch you guys there. You can sort of see in his body language, but it's killing him. Yeah. It's killing him. It's hurting him. But he's proud, and you get it. It's hurting you, I think. He needs some way for their sake as well. Yeah, because you don't want to know what to say, you don't want to talk about. Obviously, the players have come together, and I think good players, when people are against them and everything else, they show the performances on the pitch, and I think city did that like. But Jill, the impact that Manchester have had on your life, when we were speaking about it a couple of weeks ago, you know, they get the first professional sets up, the way in which they sort of develop you. Your set, there is someone who holds that club a lot, and you feel a lot of affinity to it. So, like Mike is exactly. What about all your other clubs? I get that right, I've said. I've been going right by your players. That's where everyone's forgetting about Jill. I know clubs are good to people. I know, back in the understand why Jill and Mike are. I know the players that play for them, they've got a loyalty to them, feel a bit difficult, right? I can understand why it's difficult for them. And listen, if they're not guilty, we all move out. Absolutely, but that's what we're waiting for back. With the irrefutable evidence, not, sorry, go on. I don't know, I was just going to say it as fans of the game. We all just want to go back to talking about football, don't we? And then we're sitting in a place where they've so-called got some form of evidence that no one sees. What's going on? If they felt the same about like I was just saying about Jill with man-setting, what man-setting means to the fans with the bananas, because that's something to do is signifying what they were like before this ownership. Which is all brilliant, and you do feel. You feel for them in that respect, but the owners, they do not realise what they have done in respect of the devastation to that football club. We're witnessing it now, but we're not feeling it yet, because everybody's in it, carrying on at the season. We don't know what the outcome is yet, but it's some stage. We do not deal, they've been talking about what's going to happen. Because previously before that we kept saying, "Well, you know, obviously we don't know the end of it." And they've been from guilty. So I don't know why everyone's saying, "Tipped one round." Then Roy, but the thing is, then why can't it be. Why can't it come to an end? What's going on? And that is because they're not cooperating with them. And right, you. It's sad, it's devastating this sad. It's about obviously losing a good friend at the club, like the amazing work he did as club secretary. And that's the people who are at these clubs. And it's not just about the. You don't have personal relations here. That's what I mean. These people who are on these clubs, like Man City, the owners, they're bothered about people. I don't think they're here. They can't. They can't be 40, 50, 60, 70 years. They can't care. They can't care to do what they've done. Cheat is an action, by the way. It's not like an action is an action. And you know, and the continuous as well, continuously doing it, knowing it. But look, I mean, I don't think we can. You can never circumvent a process, you can never accelerate it, because it has to go through a process. But are we. If you've got so much money, you can just keep it back. But where does that leave the Premier League? Yes. I mean, there is no. In my mind, I think it's been said to be fair. It's that it got said in the studio after the game on Sunday. There is no way this season can finish where Man City have won the league and they've not had the actual sort of. Well, they've had the clear themselves or they've had the guilt. Well, the name of that guy was here. It pulled something. He said that there's. It's. It's like a pyramid. He says, "There's only so many places you can go to continue to appeal and at some say you're going to reach the top." And he says he believes that they're closer to that. We need to. That needs to happen so that everybody can move forward. Because at the moment, it's awkward to watch three amazing goals in a magnificent game, like fixture in Liverpool and City. And you just feel. I don't know what I feel. Well, that's the point, Ian. You're in that stadium. You should be to be fair. I've watched that game now for seven or eight, nine years. Amazing games through Liverpool and City. That just felt like completely. He did it at the end. It's like. And just something. That's not. That's not anti-Liverpool, anti-City, Gary Neville supports Manu Knight. It's not. I have literally, like, formed over those games over at times. There's quality of football, the quality of. That is not right what we saw on Sundanet, the way in which we all fell at the end. It just wasn't right. We should be discussing, like, the red card. We should be discussing. We should jail. No, but we should begin. It was the first time I put. You know, that's on the list, but. We'll push over that. That's one. And don't go all against United. Yeah, aye. Come on. Let's discuss Liverpool. Liverpool. I've forgotten this. It's like. It's not Liverpool. It's not Liverpool. It's specifically. It's not Liverpool. It's not Liverpool. And what news on these people? No. You don't want to. I'm kind of free. You'll have to be on the. From people like that in the cars. I hope you got some ghetto closers. We'll go all-age. That's right. Let's talk about following verse. Because, Steve, you're more positive than maybe. Particularly Jamie Carregor. Maybe I am. I'm watching maybe the rest of us round this table. 120, 130 million, whatever it was. Obviously, a good footballer. But you think he's going to come good. Where is that coming from? I'm not denying that he's on the performing. And that we should have seen an awful lot more in terms of the price tag and what have you. But I just think that. There's a chance, and it's happened previously where players can turn it around. I think he's got the talent to turn it around. It's confidence is shot at Liverpool at the moment. You can see it when you're watching him up live. He's given the ball away. Simple balls that he wouldn't give away. And I think at times he's maybe not shown when normally of these fuller comforts. I watch them for Jamie. He's a different player, completely different player. Is that because of players that he's got always. Maybe that team's a bit more set. Stevie, what's the germ he gives? What's he doing for germ? You're then that he's not doing for Liverpool? It just seems to be different playing with his shoulders back, different energy getting on the ball. He's turning in pocket to space. He's actually executing in the final third in terms of his past. He's getting assists, he's getting goals. He's prominent. And you've seen it at Liverpool and on all to a different level. But you're watching a different player. I think it's confidence in the price tag. You know what he wants Sunday? He was poor on Sunday. You're obviously going to play a place high up to pitch you're going to take risk. But I'm on about the bit. Even if you were walking, you got to listen. Whatever happened, you just look after a ball for us. Yeah. If you get a assist. And he was going wide too much. He was going wide. No, I agree. So we talk about comforts. You're going, but this is a professional footballer. You're going, but whatever happens in the game. Brain Clubs had been facing me before. My debut was to control the ball, pass it and run. You got to go back to base. Go back to base. And this is my point that I want to get to in the end is sometimes. And I've had dips in forms and lack of confidence for a period of time. And the best thing for me was to come out of the team for the period of time. If someone is playing in your position, you start going. Or you might take my place and you get that little bit of fear or a module back. And you have to play. You have to start with your training performances. Get more consistency and training. And then it starts coming out in the games. But to write one of Germany's best talents off of 22. If I look at Philip Cutinho, he was at Espanyol at 22. No one wanted them. Only really Rafa Benito is new Cutinho at 22. And then he went the other way and exploded. I think. They're pulling out the team. I think you need to find a solution. What is that? I think you need to. We'll listen. The problem with Pull of God is, I could see he's missing. My eyes have been a bit flaky of late. Gakpo's injured. So at the moment, Gary, you probably can't do that. But when you start getting a few bodies back, I don't think I do any harm to come out and look in. come out and look in and you know you need to be looking. in the games, the balls he's given away. He needs a staff on his manager now to grab him. He's a talented young. You can't give up on these people. And say, "Oh, cos he was 110 million, "oh, he's gone and brushed him aside and be emotional about it. "He needs help, he needs support." - He's a cut off point. - Yes. - I'd say so. - He's a cut off point, we'd say to Pierre. - I'd say so. - And he's great again. - I'd say the end of the season. If the form's still the same, and he's under performing, and not the 11th coming the end of the season, he's had two seasons, and I think it's a bit different, then. - Yeah. - But at the moment, now I would say, I'm not saying a cut off for a Liverpool point of view, I'm just talking about a talent in general, who's that age. We're a big price tag. It's difficult to play for Liverpool, it's difficult to play in the Premier League, there's a big jump. - And they've not been at their best seed around them. I have to, like, last season. - Liverpool haven't been set and consistent for. - It's the rest of the time. - It's different for a number 10 to come into that environment, than coming in, if he was behind, I said it at the weekend, man, a female salad, teams that winning, under club, pressing everyone, everyone's got the shoulders back. It's a different environment. So I just think, give him a chance, he hasn't been good enough, by the way. - Yeah, let's see what you're taking. - And back all it, in the short period, we need to see more from him. So I'm not sort of trying to defend him because I'm a Liverpool fan, and I ignore the fact that he hasn't been good enough, and we need to see more, but I don't think you can't write these people off. - What if. - Give him a little bit more time to do that. - What if he. - I agree with that. - What if you do take him? I say you take him up for three, four games, Liverpool just click, and then what happens to his confidence? - But that might be that little bit of thing, where he goes, "Shit, me price has gone here." That bit of fear that you need. It's happened to me. I've come out of the team, and I don't know, I'll beat my hands, come in early doors, Gary McCarris does come in, Gary McCarris does whip the free key in it, I'm sick of thinking, "I'm not getting me price back here." So what do we do in the next training session? The real me comes back. - Yeah. - The real me comes back in training, and if you start getting the real me back in training, I don't start that. Well, that's the key, Gary, whether he can say in this round, from now to the end of the season, it needs to come from within him, or he needs support from his coaches and managers, and has seen a place to protect the Liverpool. - Mm-hmm. - He starts at Levercusion in the year before he came, where he's played 31 matches in. - He's got seven goals. - Well, he played 40 matches in the UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga with 40 games, and he scored 16 goals and 15 assists. In 51 games for Liverpool that he's played for them, he's had six goals and then seven assists. So he's. - That's not enough. - Definitely. - Them numbers are not enough for that price tag. I agree with that. But I think he came into a difficult Liverpool team over the course of the year. Must have been a tough team to play in that. - Yeah. - I think they had some similar issues to the United Way that were getting out, run every single week, and they're inconsistent. I think it will help him if Iriola can get a stronger Liverpool team out, a more consistent Liverpool team. I think as a number 10, he would be prepared to be around that. - It's difficult when a player. He's got talent, but he's just. He's small, physically small, and the team has struggled, and he's not at his best, even with Seth, he should look good. - You need to see more. - That's where you go. That's where it stands up more. But if a Liverpool is big and strong, he's not at it, but I'll tell you what, he's winning a few headers, and he's getting back. - And I think it'll look at everything he's not going to get in the ball back, he's not. - It looked worse at the weekend as well. Obviously Liverpool were a bit light up top as well. - Yeah. - You know, they were a bit too close as a team. They were brilliant for an hour, and there was a lot to admire about the performance, but I think, round the final they had, did you just wasn't enough fiber on the pitch? - For a player in that, you need. In the family, in how many assists and goals do you think is deemed a success? - Well, you need to be double-double. - Double-double. - You need to be double-double. At 115, 120 million, you think you need to be at minimum. - I mean, that was, that was, as a midfield, by the way, that would be like a. You wouldn't say it, but you'd be thinking to yourself. - Ten goals. - As an age, maybe not as someone who sits more. - You must be really confusing as well for Liverpool fans, because Liverpool fans are not apart from. You probably say the last major one where you're expecting a player to come in and go bam, and get on with it, was, was Virgil. Maybe even the goalkeeper, Alison, when they brought them in, but Liverpool bring like, look, like a mosell, look what mosell turned into, look what marnay turned into. Liverpool don't normally buy that player for. We can stort you an amount and say, "Right, here's our top player, you go and show us." - Like what we're seeing now with Virgil's question mark, and it is. - Over Alison and Van Dey, with a bit. - Yeah, they played that team. - Yeah, but they came in, but what I'm saying with Liverpool. Liverpool don't do that. That's not what they find that player, and they turn him into that player. And so now they've bought players in, that they're expecting, like, going in, Barclough, going in Isaku, got an injury record as well. - They've tried to. - They've tried to, yeah. - It's really. - It seems a different identity, Liverpool. - When they've won, they've tried to fix the roof, when it's shining, to pull away. - Yeah. - From the rest, and try to go big, gone for quality rather than quantity, and so. - Right. Who even Yegan Klopp said didn't they? I didn't know that people could meet that level of signer. - Is that's what you said? - Yeah. It's the same printer as for every team in your recruitment. It's key in it. - Yeah. - You know, you did it last few years. Liverpool just doesn't look good at the moment. Yeah, you're saying give everyone time, but you don't get time. - It's a year. - You don't get time. - No, you don't. - On a boat caric. - There's no patience in this game. - What can I say with Barclough? Even with Barclough, you know, when you. Like, even when E-Sack went, you'd say. Every night, you'd see a flash. Oh, yeah, I see. - Yeah, there's something there. - I've not seen a flash from him yet. - For verse. - No, no, no. It is a hundred and a million, you've. You've got seen Blastpass, someone even. Oh, okay, yeah, I can see what's happening once he comes back. It's a year, seven months for both players. But I think in the meantime, they need some support, I think, because, certainly, from a vertical point of view, it's confidence, looks, as if it's affecting them now. And that's a different problem. This episode of Stick to Football is brought to you by Disney Plus. Super Six are making a millionaire this season, and it could be you. That's right, the £1 million jackpot is staying put until someone wins it. All you need to do is predict the correct scores of six football matches. Get all six correct, and you could be walking away with a life-changing £1 million. And it's completely free to play. 18 plus TNC's apply. (upbeat music) You're right, Super Six. Talk about them all here. Exactly, right, okay, here we go. Last week's score, Gary and Jamie. - You've got four minutes. - Six points. - Wow, they got four. - What have we got? - What have we got? - Is that the real one? - The what? - The real one? - Oh, basically. - What did I get? - Well, my bills are these just take over and pick the scores. - So you've got a top 55% of players. You've got 190,000 players. - Really? - Not bad then. - Six points. - You have six points. - What did they get? - The field, seven points. - Yes, man, what's the rules? - I don't know. - I can't find it. - It's like the six scores, you get. - Look at them. - Yes! - One point, isn't it like the correct score? - It is, two points for the correct result, and then five points for the correct score. - Did we get any correct scores? - I don't know, obviously it's seven. - Yeah, you've got a new cast with a whole. - That's the one I got points. - I got it. - Yeah, that's the one I got points. - I said, that was the one I did. - We thought I'd get them a goal. - Just 59 players. - Just 59 players. Correctly predicted cities 5-3 whenever. Sunland, with all of those winning a Super 6, 100 club mug. - Well done. - Now one play winning 1,000 pounds. - Well done to that person. - 5-3. That's a good prediction. - Hey, what about it? - The rock cover was on the cover, back to back. - Oh, look, that was some result, one. - You just see that I'd covered with the Bacombie forest for weeks. - My hotness on, by the way, for Coventry's team. - From goals and a game. - Coming to 14th now, isn't it? - Yeah. - It looks like mad in it. - You know something, wow, that winner. - You know when you watch it, you know when you watch it again. - You've got the Essex boys on you. - He's got a little left back. - Shit. - His name's Jay De Silva. - You'll make a meaner. - Yeah, little fella. - I said, you know something, he's unbelievable. You've got to see his technique. - Technically, he's very good. - My God, he's so big. - What Tim Roy, next time, Jay De Silva, left back for Coventry, he's technique is so good. Fly up and down, he's got a beautiful left foot. - It's a child role, don't know, I don't dare to be fair. - Yeah. - I know. - What are we doing? - City, you know what I mean? - He's so sweet. - Am I right? - Hey Brent, for your firm, we'll live up to you. - He's a great pimp, yeah. - Yeah, so we have to agree. But you can't always text the Liverpool game because he's never going to say that they're going to lose. So you've got to protect that one more. - You know what, I think in the Cullen circumstances, what Liverpool got available in the injuries, I'm going to go full one one. - Wow, he's going full one. - Get the violin out. - He's living a big club, you deal with it. (laughing) - Right, I think anyone's as injured, united injuries. - I think the problem in the back, but I'm. - Yeah, but when's the ESAC back? Is he, when's he back? - Obviously Brent for the last time. - I think he's already ripped them off for the weekend. They're not available. - Who? - You're the only one. - Brent for it. - You know, you look at that again, you think. - Good news, that was funny. - That was so much money. - Gap hole. - ESAC. - What are we going to do? - I think Liverpool might get a win. - I think it's a nice one. - I think Brent. - Yeah? - I'm going to go Liverpool to win. - You have to score a win. - Good, actually. - I love that, matey. - You like that. We've got to start, we've got to put it in the effort for him. - Basically, I feel like Mauritania is just destroying it over here. - I'm sure you want to win. - Brent for getting beaten home by Liverpool. What are the problems, Liverpool? - I'm telling you, one mind's not about you. - It's a good prediction and Liverpool under injury. - Two-one Liverpool. - Two-one Liverpool. - Put it up. - Oh, what he says. - Oh. - Right, if we get that one wrong, that's. - What is that game? - What is that game? - It's three o'clock. - That one. - Oh, right. - I think you're right. - Man, city, it. - No one's watching you either. - Man, city, it, switch. - If we get that right. - Yeah. - See, we've got to take it. - We don't know. - City, you'll win. - Two or three. - No, it's going to be more because people are going to be so outweighed by the three-four. - We've got three now. - We'll give you one. - We've got four. - Yeah, we've got four. - Four on a city. - We're weird. - Not chance. - Come on. - Right, just. - Right, all right. - All right. - Oh, I guess so. - Five-thirty, concentrate on this one. - Concentrate on this one. - Are you a castle leader? - They're left. - I could be European game. - Oh. - They're left, travelling to Turkey, don't they? - I'll give you that one. - Reaction. - Villa, we're very good at Scotland. - Jeremy's stick. - Yeah. - Jeremy was the one left. - I think it was a bit less quick. - Too too. - I don't know. - I don't know. - I don't know. - Mm. - I don't know. - I don't know. - Yeah, long life from Browning Island. - Well, I think Newcastle need a winner. - Did you see them the other day? - Where on the scene, Peter, I think, if you need it. - I don't know. - I think we actually need a winner. - To the. - Draws a good show, do I? - Do you think. I think Newcastle need to bounce back from my country game. - Newcastle has to win, I think. - Oh, no. The Leonita result. - Well, everyone won. - One won? - One won, one won, one won. - Yeah, we got one won. Yeah, brilliant one from us. - Well done, Roy. - Brilliant. Good show. I was going to say that. - Here we go. Where first, Roy? - Leave the team. Roy, you do the game Sunday. - I am. - Yes, I am, is it? - I'm doing these, I'm united. - I'm up for. - I'm doing for you. - We're not doing a game. - There you are. - No, we are doing for us. - I know that, but I think. - So we'll do it before and then we'll do it for you. - I think, no, there's two games. - What do you mean? - There's like two separate shows. - Two o'clock, but. - Right, Christopher Fox, on the other game. Who is it? - Right, Christopher Fox. - That's the game, right, Christopher Fox. - This could be a big one. - No, no, this is where you get caught up. - With prediction, you got. - Are you going to beat them? - No, that's where you, doesn't twist. - It's perfect game for these three players. - No, I don't think I'm going to beat them. - You're not going to beat them. - Right, go on, Roy. - They've got to go on, but then. - We're going to go on, Roy. - Go on, Roy. - Go on, go on. - I'm going to go. - I know what he's saying. One million. One one. One one. Wow. Wow. Wow. He's. Oh, that's a big one for the draw. Exactly. I'm quite not the end of six out of six to three. I've got a few draws. You were still there. Draws. I take a draw away from home. I take a bag. I take a bag. I take a bag, I take a bag, I take a bag. What are you going with then, girl? We're good. I'm with you one morning, right? I like it. That's just not what I think I'm born. I think it outside the bag. I don't know. I think that's the most. I think it's. Well, I think to be honest with you, looking at it, I think you're all. If you've got Cormier, Ember, Mo, Ahmad, he's at Rashford. He's dropped? What? He's dropping. He's dropping. He's dropping at least one goal. I think it's two. They can't play him against. They can't play Lesanjo against Dominic Carmel-Lew. Leave him to score from his set-pieces. He'll have him on his set-pieces. He's backing a ruck set. Martin is going to start. He can't do. We'll not test that. See what Selenky's done to him. I think he will. She'll go. She'll go on it. Yeah. But you think Matt says we'll start. I'll start. Yeah, yeah. I'll start. Roy, listen to me. I'll wait for us to give you a covering on Sunday, apparently. Right. Brian, Palace. We're doing it. We're doing it. We're doing it. We're doing it. We're doing it. We're doing it. You'll start. I think we'll start. You'll start. No, it's good. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's home, man. The Palace is just one, three, one. I'm neat. Great. He's old. But who's that home? Two, one. Two, no. No, but four. Right, and two, one, two, no. Derby, that's a Derby. Don't need it. It's a big derby, don't need it. Two, one. No, that. Two, one, two, one. Oh, you didn't know that was alive. - I have some massive hard. - Good, it's called the shoe. - What's called the shoe? - M23, M23, M23, M23, M23, M23, M23, M23. - It's probably the first half. - I'm thinking of three-one or three-nil. - Two, brighten. - Sorry, stop, Alison. - Call us the coming out. - The gift was the top one. - Yeah, I got an amazing special. - I know, I think, right? - Three-one or three-nil. - Going in. - We're going. - Three-one. - Three-one, we can go on. - All right. - Big game. - Forest Arsenal 430. - Oh, all righty. - What game did I watch Forest of a Day? - It's quite well, they got big. - Yeah, it's called the "Chances" that they missed. - Forest, we got the last. - They were last. - No, no, no, no. - It was all "Eats, Champs". - Clear chances. - It's the last chance. - It's the most chances the team did have a ready to get and still lost. - Yeah. - You don't know. - No, no, that's what the commentator is. - You're a disserber, right? - I'm telling you that, you know, you know, how many games, right? Honestly. - We could do a nice moment on the podcast. Glastner's reception for more fans, yeah. - Oh, that was nice. - And then it started to slow in the last one. - So now, weren't we? - That's the lose that day, you know. - Right in the last one. - We lost in the cup. - No, at the end of the season, towards the end of the season. - Yes, we did, yeah. - Yeah, but that's not now, girl. - Yeah, last year, right? - That's what it was. - You've had a tough couple of years there. - So what? - You lost one year and then drew last year. - I don't care. We're talking about this season. - What was your goal for? - It wasn't the game we're picking. - Come on, Paul. - You're on, aye. - Right. - You won the game, Paul. - I'll give him a go, I got free one Arsenal. - Go on, Rady, like it. - Oh, yeah. - Is that true, I think? - Oh, I better wear some good gear. - That's an emulsion. - I can't wear a t-shirt and something. - What's the name? - Where's a shot and tie and all that. - Yeah, but it's a dress down shirt and tie. - What's wrong? I'm starting to phone him and telling him. - We do English. - I might work, I might wear a suit. - He doesn't tell me. I'll just wear a t-shirt. - I think he's got to win. - Why do you say that? - When I phone you and say, "Well, I'm thinking of wearing a couple of times." - Do you like, make sure you don't wear the same suit? - No, but like, I feel like I get in there. - He'll say, "Oh, right, he's putting us to shame." And I'm just putting on my gear, I'm just sometimes I pick it in the dark. - You look stylish, man, aren't you? - Just stylish, bloke. - I feel like it's a happy, it's a blessing. - I've said free one to us. - Free one. - This is fun with you. - What we're doing? I don't think it's going to be that easy for Arsenal. - No, farthest from there for you. - I tell you what, once we've got going with them. - 1.0 to Arsenal. - Right, love that. Thank you. - How would it have gone 2.2? - They're farthest from the first. - Well done, Ben. - Thank you, Gary. - They're not the best. - Cheers, guys. Thank you. You're the best. - This episode of Stick to Football is brought to you by Disney Plus. - Did we enjoy the Longer International Break? - Oh. - I had to talk. - Should we just do it enough? - Yeah, but you know something, so it's basically, you either have a two or a two, September or October, November, which is six weeks, or you have a three in a two, and it's just two of them. I actually thought the four games were pretty good for England. Actually, I kind of, I did enjoy the games. I know what you're saying, it's a bit mad and you were in, obviously, scissorly probably watching it by a pool. (laughter) - The friendship here. - Yeah, of course, you're in a speed, don't you? - I was actually. - You don't like to look at any games. - He's leaning back, taking that string though. Me and my speed, I was excited. - I've been good for the manager. - I love days off, and I'm just think days off, in September, October and November. - You can book something. - I liked the break. I didn't like the game, actually. You don't like the break. But we were doing them. We were doing them, Steve, we were doing it. So I liked it, but I thought it would be great for someone like Thomas Tugler to have him like that. - Yeah. - That's the best thing I've ever done. - At least I thought you could. - You could have lost them in that after the world thought. - Especially coming after the world. - It was definitely negative vibes around that, after the Spanish game, but obviously. - For the recent St. George's Park, though. - For the players, oh, if you're a player, I think you'd be like. - Totally a better now, though. - Against Croatia. - Yeah, they were all good. - Now I was there last week. - That was Croatia. - In any case, Croatia, I know we've watched a lot of football over here, I couldn't believe what I was watching. It's as good as England were as bad as Croatia. Couldn't believe it. - There's a goal now in the sides to the other ones. - A level long. - We've got on here on Liam's lap, actually. Liam's lap missed a big chance at the weekend against Palace. What's the worst miss you've ever seen? - It was mystical. - Who went to under Liverpool? Who went to under goalkeeper and hit the bat? - Ronny Ross and Tau. - That was a bad one, wasn't it? - I remember, I remember it was-- - That was an open goal, wasn't it? - I meant when he was at Chelsea I think when he went up to United. - Paul Palmer, this one, the other week. - Tau, over the bat. - Yeah. - You're under the bat. - It happens a lot, don't you? - You know what I mean? It's not a loan, is it? It happens, don't you? - Was it Douglas missed one years ago? I'm going back to the seven years, remember? Was there somebody who wanted to keep on rollin' to Greg Douglas from the end? Do you ever see that chance? - Kitches with shit. - I know. - He was in the middle of it. - Yeah. - He's like, what's the most controversial big miss of all time? I'm thinking, like, I mean, like, Colour Mawani, the World Cup, when he's two on goal. - The sun one. - He's in the sun one at Tottenham, when he goes there. - Receipt, when he's going for the start. - I think that's it, that's it. - That's it, that's it. - When he went through it, that was a great save. - That was a great save. - Do you think it was a great save? - That was a good save. - Yeah, but for him, miss. - No bad, I'm not about people going on a goalkeeper and missing an open goal. - What's that? - When Sun goes for him, thinking, that's a one-vy one, but to keep a righty. - That's not a bad miss. - That's going on a goalkeeper and you've an open goal. - Open goal's a bad miss. - Open goal. - What's the most, forget, worst miss. What is that, that biggest chance that you just think, oh my god, the world would have changed? - Ollie, I love accusing. - That's the one chance I take in the most. I know obviously you're one of the big chance. - John Stonks. - You're a bit off the line. - John Stonks, is that a miss? - That's not a miss, that's not a miss. - That's not a miss. - Ollie, Ollie, it's just you don't great, John Stonks. - I was behind him. - What was it, what was it, what was it? - That was to get to the final, the last kick in the game, you got true to the Champions League final. I'm behind Ollie, so, no, he put off the bear, Ollie. - Oh, which is, which is, I think, of course. - But Ollie saved you in the Champions League final. - No, he's not falling. - That was a hell of a choice. - Oh, Ollie. - I don't know, I'm having a bit of fun with it. - I'm too fair, I think actually, I'm not mentioned. I know, John Terry's penalty. - Oh gosh. - Against United, it's a change in the dynamic of the whole 2000. - That's all, no slip talk to that. - No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. - You joking, get it out of the way. - Gold bridge is getting it as well. - Open this, you're on my list. - You're just sitting at 50 minutes. - You're going to go up the hill. - I'm the day before you saw the ball, you're listening. - That's what they do. - Steve, you don't worry. - Chef's hands, and you got no hotel book. - Oh, no, it's me with a midfield lobbyist. - You're going to be on your stomach. - It's not about your, we used to, when players, a midfield, they give the ball a bit, and the two sun-haves away over there, go, you should be attacked the worst. - Yes. - I can't get, defenders, you've still got no position. Spaces everywhere. Stay compact, expect your mate to miss it or slip. - It was, okay, we'll move on. - I've been defenders for that, it's not very miss one. - And then your goal keeps a bit of heat off JT there, haven't I? - Just a bit. - Right, Everton, a goal keeps an old man. - A goal keeps a lot of saves as well, every known again. - Everton after two years, a little bit of sell. - Why is that again? - Everton, the owners are looking to sell. - Everton, they're doing all like this season, for when we spoke at the beginning. - Well David Moise is the same. - David Moise, brilliant. - Yeah, but might be in city, but why would they be selling? Is it just, they're running out of money? Are there things? I think they can make a profit, would it be? How many odds is it a conclusion? I would think it's probably the loss of the money, I would imagine, and they just don't got the stomach for it anymore, maybe. And is it a company or is it what is it? There'll be loads of takers, though, wouldn't they? New stadium now, new training ground. But if it's not what money, do people want to invest? Why would they obviously take their time to buy it in the first place? I don't know. How long they own it, but if how long they own it? Not long after two years, does it? Is it that trip? Is it the trip of seven? No, it's their Friedman group. We don't want Everton, though, to be the flux for the next year or two, do we? No, we don't want it for that, I'm think. Well, listen, I'm obviously, I have a red book, "The Desire of Good Onus", the fans have waited a long time for success, "The Desire of Good Onus". Freakin. Freakin, not freaking. Freakin' group. Freakin' group. Like the stadium, the stadium is brilliant. Lovely, but location-wise, getting in an out of it, I think. I do. From what I'm hearing, it's a big problem. Do you know what I do? Do you know what Everton have the best of their, Bobville? First, Bobville Everton. Bobville is the best fit. Oh, I'd ever do this beautiful thing. The tree cups of it, it would be beautiful. Oh, God, you love that, the shit. Oh, Bobville. Bobville is beautiful. Oh, I love Bobville. Oh, you're taller than a match, Bobville. He's having fun. He's having fun on your feet, eh? He is. That's psychological, you see. Bobville's average. That's because he spent time at home. Bobville's average, that's a top of his sundial injury, yeah. You're all in the past seat, you see, I understand. He's a man of the people, though. No, we've looked at it. If we could replay one match in our lives or fuck you, I'll have to. I'll have to. I'll have to. Give my an away, Bob. I don't. I don't. No, you're not. I'm not for his. See if you can leave, yeah? You're not for me. You're earning your money, basically. You know, the England, England Italy and Rome, when I. It's the post. I didn't miss the chance. It was the post. They should have scored a deal or end. Wow. It's a good question. The area would have finished. You wouldn't be sitting here and all that. No, I'd have been done. Lynch walking in. You know what? That one I'd write. I'd do that. We play a match because you're enjoying it. Yeah. Yeah. That'd be on the. Yeah. Like, the Stat of A.T.V. That goal would. That'd be a. I'll show a moment. Was it a good chance? I'd like to see. You know what? You know what it was. You think you should have scored, truthfully? No. No, I was running out of space. You remember it, so we went over. You see it? You see it? Then I told it past the goalie and it was Canavara coming back. So I had to stop it before it got to the line. Then I had to whip it quick and it hit the post. Can we see that chance? I'll really watch it. It's good you're all for it, right? I'll never get over it. It was a defender. It was a defender. Canavara. You always benched. He never says an Italian defender. He always benched in here. Canavara. It was a had a chance. Or Tiro Farrara, though. I was a man like, "No, you know, Maldini, I don't think Maldini was Farrara, and I thought it was Rosie." No, it wasn't. No, it was Tiro Farrara. Maldini's by. Costa Curra. Costa Curra, right back. Tiro Farrara, Canavara, and Maldini. Wow. I had to take care of them for. And I got through, and I thought, "My gosh, this is it. It's all happening. Bam's two cups. Can't get it in there." My game. My game would be at Main Road. I gave away a big goal as Sean. Was that a goal with you? Yeah, that would be the one I'd probably replay. I actually. Roy must have been injured that day, because I was captive. It was the first time I'd ever kept in the United, and I was shocked after like 60-odd minutes. Too much fear. You couldn't deal with it. Yeah, I'm bad with it. I feel, "Come on, let's finish on a high deal. Come on." Still, well, I was. Well, I was going to see the game was final. But when I was on the bench till the last 30 minutes, 35 minutes, and it was the most stressful sitting on the bench in a U.W.O's final, just. Oh, here it is. I was fine once I got on the pitch, so I don't know if I'd want to. I'd want to relive the ending when you're winning. Is it worse than you're shoving in the beginning? Oh, yeah. No, no, no. Yeah, just. Yeah, but we need it. Yeah, but we need it, too. But there's a great watch about you, if you're going. I'm going to do something here. Yeah, but I was warmed up to get on, and then we're scored, and then I didn't get on. And you had to come on to take care of that midfield, right? Yeah. Yeah, different rules down. Yeah, you had to do. You had to downs, you. Well, the chill. Honestly, that's it. If you're trying to go watching players get tired, you want to play, get on, yeah. I'll get on the back end. Right, when's your game, by the way? You've gone quite out, you've just deflected. I don't like that. Which game would you like to replay? Would you say you've been. This one, you got the Elacard? You probably would, would you? You got two in that game. Two Elacards. Not two Elacards. Two golds, Johnny. No, I've only got one Elacard, sorry. I watched that back. No, you were really good on that game. Right, that game? Oh, I don't like it. There's no regrets. Well, is that your best performance? Oh, no. That just happened to you, yeah. Right, everyone says it is, and right. I'm not wrong. So, I'll explain it in two in a day where he said it was as well. Yes, it was. If Alex said it, then that's it. Is he got another book out? Yeah! Right. So, the Elacard. So, that game. No, no. That game. Don't be getting me that book for Christmas or anything. That game, you should replay it, because one, it was your best game. That's a game, you ever said it was. But secondly, you could get me to the Elacard, mate. Yeah, mate. You were nice. You tackled me in that game. No, probably. I accept it. I accepted it about two years ago on a drive back to Ireland. It came to me. Yes. It did, truthfully. Seriously? Yeah. It's kind of a piece of it all, but no, no, no, that was all part of my journey. In what way. In accepting the situation, in accepting maybe. It wasn't me. I kind of deserved the medal for it. We deserved the medal. No, I did both of years, I didn't believe that. I was always like, "No, when you're a messy game, but I would look back and go into no one." Because I see your players, you didn't play many games. But get on or involve the squad, and the first person I would be saying is, "Of course you're part of the squad." So, I kind of done it with myself and go, "Yeah, maybe I deserved it." I took a few years, a few years for acceptance, and I got it about two years ago. What's interesting? Well, why don't you bring it in and we'll allocate you, medal, and we'll get Mike, as often, and give it to you, Stephen. That'll be normal. That'll be beautiful. We're doing normal medals, shall we? No, no, no, no, no, no. Steve, do you have the moments where you come to terms with bad situations? Yeah. You sort of appreciate your good situations even more. Well, you're on a boat medley. Well, I don't want to medle, anyone. I accept the divin' moment. But what about, I'm all that I want is all this shite to go away. Exactly what I want. Well, people talk about medals, but what about people? I, truthfully, we talk about bonuses. Do you not ever think about what players do? You have to have the bonus. You know something. You have a bonus in your contract, don't you? If you don't, I'll give it to you. But why have bonuses in your contract? I would, I'd take the bonus. I'd just keep the medal. I'd just give it to you. I'd take the bonus. Of course. I'd take the bonus. So, you wouldn't have got the bonus for that final? No, I'd brought it up with that. How much is, actually? I'd brought it up with the bonus for that. I don't mind about, like, to stand back and sit here. I'm not going to bring the bonus for that. He does not. He does not. He does not. Obviously, but if you're like, you had a bonus in there. Well, what do you get for winning a Champions League? We didn't have bonus. I think you're needed to, I'm going to say it was about, what do you got? You got 150 to 100 grand? I thought we got 100 and not grand each. Right. But winning it, I think it was like a part of one and a half million or something like that for the squad to win it. What about now if you would have winning a Champions League? I think to be getting five hundred. Yeah, so the big is going to be. And then it's a spin-off. Maybe we'll have contracts. Of course, because you get so if you're wearing that boot, like, for instance, if you score a Champions League final, a World Cup final, sure, you get more money off of. I don't know if it could find you. From Adidas or something. Of course. Yeah, I did. Did you? Oh, no. I'd like to get that. Yeah, what we do, but yeah, yeah. Howard, picture. Howard, where's Howard? This has been a global and the overlap production. Thanks to our title sponsors, Disney Plus. We'll see you next time.

Summary:

FAQs

The discussion highlights that the best front three includes players like Ronaldo, Rooney, and Neymar, with some suggesting a combination of Messi, Suarez, and Neymar as the top trio due to their speed, connection, and attacking play.

Roy Keane is noted for being highly protective of the club's management, and the episode suggests he would not publicly criticize the board or sporting director, as it could be seen as disrespectful or disruptive to team unity.

Publicly criticizing the squad is seen as a direct attack on teammates, implying they are not good enough, which can create division and undermine team cohesion and morale.

Player-led criticism, especially during tough times, can create chaos in the dressing room, weaken team unity, and lead to a lack of alignment, which may result in poor performance and increased pressure.

Michael Carrick should focus on winning key matches, like against Leeds, to restore confidence and calm the dressing room, before addressing broader issues publicly or internally.

The episode references how players like Maguire and McGuire might privately pull a senior player back, showing that internal support and team unity are essential to managing difficult moments.
