Makybe Diva Stakes Day w/ Phar Jack Jenkins

The Racing Previews Podcast episode previews a major weekend of racing at Flemington and Rosehill. The team — Ben Coluzzi, Will "the Bot" Alfred, Nico Magualta, and special in-studio guest Farjack — breaks down the Maccabi Diva Stakes Day card, where She's Alibi is a dominant $1.65 favorite in the Group 1 feature over Mr. Brightside and Sir Delius. The panelists also cover the Run to the Rose in Sydney, where Saint Goddard is tipped as a potential Golden Rose contender. Key betting opinions include Something's Burning in Race 2 at Flemington as a strong value play after a horror beat last start, Paradoxium in the Poseidon Stakes as Farjack's best bet of the day, and Storm Leopard in the final race at Flemington as Bot's best bet. The podcast multi features She's Alibi and Storm Leopard. The team also discusses Sydney races, with Weeping Woman and Saint Goddard highlighted. Beyond race previews, the episode includes listener questions covering topics such as punting stories, hypothetical fights, ownership syndicates, and behind-the-scenes racing industry insights. Farjack discusses his upcoming documentary series and his return to work with the Malua team. The episode maintains a lighthearted, banter-filled tone while providing detailed form analysis and betting strategies for the weekend's feature racing.

Speaker 6It's a compliment if anything, the team needs him
Speaker 5I love that How's your early part of the spring been so far mate? Have you been finding any winners?
Speaker 6Not really, I've been struggling a bit but that always happens when I'm in a fight camp or getting ready for a fight I kind of just flutter around and can't pay the attention that you need to to actually be successful or be disciplined But I've been struggling a bit but that always happens when I'm in a fight camp or getting ready for a fight I kind of just flutter around and can't pay the attention that you need to to actually be successful or be disciplined But on a little bit of a break now I'm hoping to fight again in December but so that gives me a few weeks to enjoy the spring and all the all the fun that comes with it
Speaker 5And how many sort of months do you need leading up to a fight to really lock in?
Speaker 6Well because I only fought last week and it's in December I probably only need like six seven weeks of camp because you have that residual fitness but the longer the better like the more time you have locked in the better

Speaker 9Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it
Speaker 5Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it Yeah well it's going to be very short isn't it I don't think anyone wants to see it four it looks like clear weather over the next couple days but um and just a very slight northerly breeze which shouldn't have any effect on the races perfect for racing beautiful that's all all right let's get straight into it then um we are doing the race the first six races at flemington and rosehill this weekend will be a 25 winnings plus boost make sure you get around that race one at flemington is a benchmark 84 over the 1200 meters we've got ruska roma it's been a slight drifter out to 4.60 from naval academy five dollars jet smash is the one they're coming for early into fives markdale 5.50 eagle express six dollars moby dick 6.50 and space rider ten
Speaker 8dollars not a lot of speed in this race uh naval academy obviously rolls four but is a question mark over 1200 meters jet smash will go forward with it uh the favorite ruska roma favorite right now i don't think it will be by saturday resumes off about 280 days uh and will be better over a mile and 1400 meters in time look i think uh jet smash is a bit of an opportunity but i think this horse is a sprinter campaign got out to a mile last preparation but i think they might have figured it out that this horse is a like a dead set sprinter strides like a sprinter it's really fast it's going to go forward damian lane is uh engaged to ride and um yeah naval academy obviously is a query at 1200 meters and i think you just sit off it and gets the perfect chance to go past it and win
Speaker 5um yeah beautiful now jack we were doing our pre-production meeting which lasted all of 20 seconds before the podcast yep and you said you like to have a bet in in each race are you having
Speaker 6one here yeah i will um a bit of a bit of a war horse but i don't mind moby dick at a price here um gate four if they i don't think they're going to split down the down the straight but if they do it can go either way we'll sort of tack on there and always seems to produce one run a preparation where it kind of goes bang and i uh i think jamie mott on board he's riding well give him a chance and you get a price to find out beautiful so moby dick around the uh six dollar
Speaker 5fifty seven dollar mark move on to race number two and uh this is the michael maroney obviously the great man did pass away what is it going back now nico is it a couple years yeah it was only a
Speaker 9year ago now um it's not that long ago anyway it's like a year ago wasn't it yeah it's not that long
Speaker 5ago anyway it's like a year ago wasn't it yeah it's not that long ago anyway it's like a year ago wasn't it it's not that long ago anyway it's like a year ago wasn't it yeah it's not that long ago anyway it's like a year ago wasn't it it's not that long ago anyway it's like a year ago wasn't it yeah it's like a year ago wasn't it yeah it's not that long it's not long it might only be a year it's a listed race over the 1400 meters honoring that man who trained at chiquita lodge and unit five is your favorite really well supported into four dollars from big wigs five dollars fifty something's burning also five dollars fifty blake shin has he been given the sack here because ben malum's riding lara antipova eight dollars fifty and judas tree ten dollars we don't want to dwell on the past but something's burning what did you make of uh have you seen the race what did you make of uh have you seen the replay jack of which one of something's replay jack of which one of something's replay jack of which one of something's burning no i haven't seen it hold on let
Speaker 8burning no i haven't seen it hold on let burning no i haven't seen it hold on let me show you
Speaker 5me show you me show you it was one of the all-time sort of horror it was one of the all-time sort of horror it was one of the all-time sort of horror beats in the in the midweekers so beats in the in the midweekers so
Speaker 8beats in the in the midweekers so that's it there that's it there
Speaker 6that's it there oh no i didn't see this you know you know oh no i didn't see this you know you know oh no i didn't see this you know you know i did see this because someone i knew had i did see this because someone i knew had i did see this because someone i knew had quite a bit of a slash on it yeah and quite a bit of a slash on it yeah and quite a bit of a slash on it yeah and then they were absolutely sick yeah then they were absolutely sick yeah then they were absolutely sick yeah well well
Speaker 5well he has had a couple stinkers in recent he has had a couple stinkers in recent he has had a couple stinkers in recent times hasn't he bought like for a whore times hasn't he bought like for a whore times hasn't he bought like for a whore for a jockey of his class yeah i mean
Speaker 8for a jockey of his class yeah i mean for a jockey of his class yeah i mean he's had like probably two really bad he's had like probably two really bad he's had like probably two really bad ones and we just think about those ones
Speaker 5great yeah no it wasn't great um nico i'm gonna go to you first here you can go have the new ball because you are backing that horse you should have won last time yeah i think something's burning is
Speaker 9one of the best bets of the day on saturday outside of the obvious i think this horse should be favorite um yeah i just think that it gets a lot in its favor not that um blake shinn's a bad jockey but you know malum's probably the port of call for being waller's number one melbourne man and he rides a lot for um this ownership group so i'm not overly surprised that he's riding this horse on the weekend i think the outside barrier is a positive blend into the race when uh he he wants to and he's not going to be held up for a run and i think the two horses in front of him in the market are a massive risk at 1400 meters like um yeah i've got no issue with something's been running 1400 meters and i think it's one of the better bits of the day i think six dollars is a very very very good bet
Speaker 5famous last words won't be held up that's at flemington so you don't know boys what do you like if anything uh i don't i don't mind
Speaker 6something's burning as well like especially you watch that run ran through the line well but i'm i'm gonna have a little a little play on lara antipova gonna forgive i i just have a soft spot for these new zealand phillies coming over um and 1400 i think will suit and happy to sort of have a little bit on both of those beautiful beautiful
Speaker 5i do note that lara antipova is getting the equicast off and the synthetic hoof filler off which can only be a positive bot for those feet and get his mark zara on yeah you beauty that
Speaker 8always helps uh yeah harry lyme uh won in good time uh at campbell campbell grange last time and it will go forward and uh give a good count of itself i also gave a theory a chance who was run off its feet over 1200 meters last start in the mcneil i was heavily supported backed into about third favorite that day uh obviously american eagle won the race but uh made a really nice debut down the straight at flemington was really strong over the last sort of 200 meters it's drawn awkwardly but gets damian lane and probably a little bit too big at 30 to one i think it's a uh it's going to improve as it gets out of it over a little bit further and uh if they go a little bit too quick here which is a little bit of a possibility uh it'll be uh running over the top
Speaker 5up beautiful and if i had to bet i'd probably be having something on something's burning as well race number three is the captain tebes it's a good race and we see the return of the blue diamond winner in streisand she's not favorite though the favorite is a a very um a very impressive debut winner and over excited who went up a huge price with some of the other corps as big as eight dollars she's four dollars twenty with bet 365 from streisand five dollars fifty so tono globe also five dollars fifty lucky brook eight dollars a slight drifter and calamari ring and gin twist are both eleven dollars but how good is this horse over excited she's by zoostar out of i am excited there's just group one pedigree all over the page and um she looks a good one there's a blue diamond
Speaker 8winner here isn't there that's very good i'm kidding i'm kidding um no that's not bad um no i'm gonna back over here at least you're half a chance to put your money on this one a lot last time you sat to piss no i over excited one really really well uh last start on debut did it over excite you it did last 400 meters i tell you what mate so you're back in a geelong maiden winner over the blue diamond winner yeah wow wow it's john maiden winner isn't there um yeah and i marked a 380 um it's a really nice horse and i think it's uh it's you know the bar is not set very high for these uh three-year-olds um streisand i think will improve with the run and i think overexcited is a nice filly the prices i wish i saw the early price but um i look at it what were you doing oh numerous things mate you probably don't want to know um no i don't no i don't i don't it's probably better that you don't yeah no um yeah now back over excited i think mark to 380 you think you get if you can get that sort of 4.50 on the day that's
Speaker 5that's more than fair enough i'd have thought sweet jack are you with more the class runners or
Speaker 6man i'm just going to be an absolute coward on this one i'm just going to wait until right before the jump and see what the market does and then follow that yeah i like i like cetono glow um obviously blue diamond winner and uh i didn't know much about this horse but looks pretty good so i'm happy to sit and follow the market beautiful nico move on yeah no nothing from me
Speaker 5nothing from me either but gee if you got the early prize for over excited you've done very well move on to the poseidon stakes and this is for the colts and galdings over the 1100 meters group three down the straight of course and bube has been a really well supported runner uh today three dollars fifty into three dollars with bet three six five from paradoxium four dollars eighty big sky is five dollars but he's on the drift we've got the new south wales visitor and steel wheel seven dollars fifty and hard kick well he bounced back last time he is eight dollars he's got the new south wales visitor and steel will seven dollars fifty and hard kick well he bounced back last time he is eight dollars but jack i'm going to hand the microphone to you here because paradoxium is a or was a two-year-old that was really well touted early and put down some good ratings he's come back he's going to come back here as a three-year-old and the most recent trial was a beauty yeah that that trial was
Speaker 6as good as you as you'll watch him trial just sailed up past the leader and then held through the line um i just think stable tick beyond baker um is it colette coming down to ride um so that makes sense and i think extreme choice is going to be a better three-year-old than than it was a two-year-old so it's my best of the day and i am all over it huge hello good push good push yeah
Speaker 8it is a good push yeah i i like him he's a nice horse i like not betting in the race i think the race is a little bit hard um big sky was a really nice two-year-old and obviously didn't make the blue diamond uh but i think 1200 meters will only be a positive for him i think he'll improve as a a three-year-old, I think he was probably the starting point for me. in the race and bube has been heavily supported since markets open it's very short for a horse that's just had one start and awfully short yeah look it's a really nice horse but i could there's no way i could take the price it is um ridiculously short i think still will i sort of had a long hard think about him but i definitely think he's going to be a 1400 meter horse as he gets older um so you know backing drop to backing dropping back to 1100 meters after winning that the 72 that obviously autumn glow won a couple years ago uh at rose hill um might not be a positive for him um but yeah it's a tricky race if i was going to bet in the race i'd probably back big sky so maybe 556 bucks big skies the the way i'd lean in the race it's a strong race isn't it yeah it's a good
Speaker 5it's a good race this is probably the the first real sort of cool more stud stakes yeah sort of
Speaker 8uh prelude i guess i wouldn't be surprised if one of these just like takes a massive step as a three-year-old and just like it wouldn't surprise me if one
Speaker 5hopefully for your sake it is paradox you know what they say in life ben what do they say don't
Speaker 9get beaten by what you know far jack's about to get beaten by what he knows here what is it number two is the biggest i haven't bet for him ever hard kick hard kick yeah the haze well apparently apparently he's got a hard kick well that's what they say my leg hasn't been snapped so not yet i'm having something on hard kick i think he's um he's proven down the straight he bounced back to form last time he just had to forgive the first up run and you're getting an excellent price to find out i think barry rates perfect down the straight i'm more than happy to be with him and i'll have something on big sky at north of five dollars yep i'm probably going to stay out at the
Speaker 5moment just to the current betting dean whatling was uh messaging him here during the week and he said um friends yeah all friends betsy friends that's your friends and he was saying he's saying oh he's in bube running here and i'm like yeah he's running made sure with the boys who have the sort of kenny well connections yeah he's running he told me five dollars whatever all in and i just i didn't really think much of it i'm like five dollars like that's no spoil and here he is like bang three dollars so dino too good for me mate well done it's um it has shortened i didn't think it was going to be that short but here we are move on to race number five this is the archer group three 2500 meters now bought melbourne cup ticket or no melbourne cup ticket yeah yep it is melbourne cup ticket for this race let's steal three dollars sixty well supported in from a top of four dollars today the arco fraud also equal favorite three dollars sixty chocolates four dollars eighty getting back out and trip from jenna vermoose six dollars fifty think join a bit of specking there seven dollars fifty into six dollars fifty and then it is big prices and longer the rest uh interesting interesting race here will the arco fraud keeps winning but the ratings he's running aren't anything to to write home about it
Speaker 8anyway yeah that here we go that's between me and nico he's starting to become nico nico is going to be um jumping on telling you nico fraud's gonna be because it's one of its last five but i'm gonna tell you i still might back it yeah i won't it's way too short didn't you learn last time you took
Speaker 9this horse and me did you yeah well your ass handed to you so you're ready to go again yeah round two yeah no i'll get far jack to stick what's the knock what's the knock on the arco oh he's just not running fast enough he's running fast enough to win the race
Speaker 8a fair old knock he's just not not not quick enough yeah uh no i think lidsteel is objectively a better horse and should be favorite um she she's she won by five she won by about 500 meters on um uh the the mac has run last year over 2800 meters she stays as well as anything she's a half to founder claire who won the world cup in 2019 she she i think she's in stay like your mother-in-law i don't have a mother-in-law yet um but no she's third up now she gets to her right trip she's going to roll forward under blake she there's not a whole lot of speed and uh i think she's in the best form she's ever been in uh she's already run to her peak second up and i think she'll improve on it uh third up and um yeah look i i think she's a better horse than the arco fraud and um i think my thrill is 20 so i'm pretty keen to back and also chocolates is a nice horse too and i've been i've been like just adamant this I finally gets it. I wouldn't be surprised if it, um, did you say the blinkers on first? Which is, I did.
Speaker 5It's an interesting setup. Start number 18 out in trip blinkers first time.
Speaker 8Yeah. Oh, look, she, she, the number she did as a three-year-old in those, uh, the mahogany series, sort of those races, those numbers are really, really good. Um, she won at Pakenham last preparation in like big time smashing Lee and Kwa. Um, yeah, she's a really nice horse. Once she gets out to a mile and a half and she could do that number again on Saturday I'm petrified of her, but I'll back her up. Let's, let's do it because I think it's going to be up on speed.
Speaker 5It's not completely uncommon that the blinkers first time can backfire with a horse with a sort of setup like this. And they can either miss the start or get really keen in, in head gear for the first time. But Nico, your rebuttal for Nyako fraud. Away you go.
Speaker 9Oh, well, winners just keep winning. And I think that's exactly what he'll do on Saturday. He'll be in a prominent position again. The dry track's no issue. One, two, back on dry because many pigeonholed him as a wet tracker. Um, yeah, he copped a 15 out of 10 last time and yeah, I'm not sold. Let's deal. I think there's a lot of hype around this horse. Um, and I think that's where the race stops. I think there's only two chances you can have the rest of them like dead set. They're looking for a set of hurdles. Uh, Nyako fraud will win this race and I think he's a great price. There you go.
Speaker 6Jack, what camp are you in? Oh, I was, I was happy to sort of have a look. And now I've got the two. He's next to me head to head, so I might just have to sit this one out.
Speaker 5It's tough. It's tough. There's one part of me that goes Nyako fraud just keeps winning and I've been on him the last couple of starts. There's the other part of me that goes.
Speaker 9Don't jump off, Ben. You're getting a, you're getting a price to be with him again.
Speaker 5The times he has been running out. They're not, they're not flash.
Speaker 9It's a staying race in Melbourne. What do you expect? They don't run time.
Speaker 5I'm, I'm a little bit concerned about lit steel having to shoulder 58 and a half kilos. It is a little bit of weight. She is a, a nice horse, but little Philly, um, big, a big Philly or a little, little Philly.
Speaker 8She's not very big.
Speaker 9Well, are we in Europe Philly? She's a five-year-old man.
Speaker 8Whatever I know.
Speaker 5Aiden gone to my head. If I had to back one, which you don't gamble responsibly, Nyako fraud goes on top. Just, just, we've just set the weights.
Speaker 9Come to your senses. Well done, Ben.
Speaker 5Race number six. Now we're starting to get into some of the good races now. Probably race number seven is where it really heats up, but this is another listed event over the 1400 meters SAS appeal, $2 90 and favorite G I thought she was pretty disappointing a couple of weeks ago from just party $4 20. It's the money horse today. Open $6 50 up from Sydney fancify $6 50 was too good for our favorite last start. Lim salt or a $12 cafe millennium, $13 run, Harry run thirteens and welcome to the show. He was nominated for the group. One. He's $13 as well. Jackie, you have any, any thoughts here?
Speaker 6Yeah, I'm, I'm very keen SAS appeal. Um, but I will say like, and just so everyone knows this isn't coming from a place of data or opinion. I just hate when Trent Boston has a winner and I lose like, and he often has one like this, like immediacy here where it's at a big price and it just runs a huge race. I think first up last time it was. You know, it was good. A head off light infantry man. Um, and I know that was 1600. This is 1400, but I would just, if I get a message from him and he's backed it and I haven't now for context, you and Trent close. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, yeah, very close, but yeah, I just hate when he wins and I'm like, it does, it does me head in. So I'll have to have something small on immediacy there, but I'm pretty keen on SAS appeal. I think 1400 Flemington can bounce back. Tick, tick.
Speaker 5Yeah. Um, but immediacy has been one of yours over the journey, to be fair.
Speaker 8Yeah. I've backed him a few times. He's a nice horse. I think 1400 is a little bit sharp for him. SAS appeal was awful. I thought last time, um, well-beaten, well, well, well-beaten as a short price favorite.
Speaker 9And, um, I think you can put that down to something, which is the wet track, never seen wet ground. I think I clearly stated on the podcast that it was a vulnerable favorite that it was the first time on soft ground. Um, well, I think it's a very easy case to make. It's had six, six starts on good ground for five wins and a placing and it's had one start on soft ground and went like a busted.
Speaker 8Yeah. But yeah, well, I don't think it was as wet as what they were saying. Um, okay.
Speaker 9So you did say you're only just picking it to suit your narrative now.
Speaker 8Yeah. Well, I marked it about five bucks, so it's way too short. Um, welcome to the show who was nominated in the carpet ever stakes optimistically. I think, I think he gets in really well. Why? Too far back, uh, in the Goulburn cup last time ran on really well. I think it's a better chance than what the market's saying. And one that I, at big odds Plymouth, who I think is, you love this horse and it just is no good. I think he, I think he's a 4,800 meter to 2000 meter horse. And I think he's capable of running a really nice race.
Speaker 5I think he's a 4,800 meter to 2000 meter horse.
Speaker 8That's a, that's a very, very wide elastic band. 600 meters. That's not.
Speaker 5It's like a full lap.
Speaker 8He's a really nice horse. And Damien Lane jumps on and he's...
Speaker 9Oh, God. What?
Speaker 8He's capable of a 2,000... He's a 1,400 to 2,000 meter horse. But he has the capability of... Last preparation, he was really good behind Tom Kitten and the Kevin Heffernan for Road Chain V8. He sprinted from the back of the field and ran into fourth there. Look, he's a really nice horse and I want to have something on him at 40 to 1.
Speaker 9He might be a coon to yours.
Speaker 5This race gave me an absolute headache because I think at her best, Sassapiel is probably the best horse in the race. She was disappointing first up. She needs to bounce back from that. She's going to get every chance from a nice barrier. Just Party is an interesting horse, bringing form that's hard to line up from Goulburn. But I do agree that Welcome to the Show looks over the odds. He was an awesome first up run at 12. And then last time, barrier 14, things just didn't work out. I think if I'm having a small bet, I might be... Something small each way on him. But Sassapiel, if she bounces back to Nico, she's the one to run down.
Speaker 9Yeah, well, I think it's... I think you can clearly forgive last time. I'm not necessarily rushing to storm in a backer at the current point in time. But I think you could definitely have worse bets than her. But I think last time was a clear forgive on soft ground. It's not going to be soft ground on the weekend. No, it's not.
Speaker 5First league of the quarter, the Bobby Lewis, 1,200 metres. Run under handicap conditions or quality handicap conditions, group two. A live another day is our $1.80 favourite. Went up $1.95 with bet 365. Now, Nico, the traders are being very generous here. They're offering a bet boost of $1.
Speaker 9Oh, man. Oh, man, Brandon. Your man, your man, Brandon. Brandon, whatever his name is.
Speaker 5Your man, Brandon's offering a bet boost of $1.83. Three cents.
Speaker 9They keep putting up this type of rubbish. We might have to just start thinking about... Is that real?
Speaker 6That's real. It happens.
Speaker 9It happens today as well. It's just really just disgusting behaviour.
Speaker 5I think the lads have had a pretty tough weekend. They're trying to get a bit back.
Speaker 9It doesn't matter. If you're not going to offer a boost, don't put one up. What are you going to buy with three cents?
Speaker 5If our friends are listening, we love you, but come on, guys.
Speaker 9We don't love that. No, Ben. Don't sit here just because we swim on the...
Speaker 5Ben's a shield.
Speaker 9Just because we sit on the same table, it doesn't mean we have to agree with what they're serving up.
Speaker 5They call me Switzerland for a reason. I live another day. He's $1.80 from Lose Some, Win More. $9. That's our tagline. King of Rosso is $11. Hedges is $15. And Arkansas Kid's been a drifter, 12 out to 16.
Speaker 9What price are we starting on the Whirlpool?
Speaker 5Is it Whirlpool betting?
Speaker 9It's always MacGyver, David Whirlpool.
Speaker 5I think he'll be $1.50 on the Whirlpool. Yeah. I'll go first here. He was my best bet last time around. I live another day. He ran to a weight for age figure of around 100. He was awesome. He was held up there behind Bridal Waltz for probably the first 100 meters of the straight. But once the gap came, he exploded. I think he'll be even better suited up to 1,200 meters. Look, down the straight for the first time is some sort of box that he needs to tick here. But if he does tick it, then who knows what's on the table. You've got the Manicato. You've got the Champion Sprint at the end of the spring. I think he's a really nice horse. Look, whether $1.80 is your thing or not, I don't know. But if he's going to be in the top sort of 10 sprinters in the land and maybe even pushing into the top five, then he needs to be taking care of this field. I think the horse that's over the odds at the current price and one that can run a much improved race is Hedged. He went around $4.40 first up over 1,000 on a really heavy track. That race just didn't suit. But he's got some really good numbers over 12 and 11. You know, he ran... Second in an Oakley plate. He was only beaten less than a length in a Galaxy. And then he smashed War Machine and Co. in that, what was it? Australia Stakes. Wait, what? Who are you talking about? Hedged. Yeah, Australia Stakes. He also won a Christmas Stakes as well. He's a nice horse. He's over the odds for mine, but it's all about the favourite. Who do you like?
Speaker 8$1.80, 11 of the day. Really nice horse, obviously. I think Hedged, I agree with you, is a little bit too big. You can completely forgive that. 1,000 metres on a heavy track. Isn't his go. He was probably making a run in the lanes you didn't want to be in on that day. Blake Shin jumps on. But look, he's probably going to run it. He's going to have to run to his absolute peak and for 11 of the day to regress off last time, which isn't out of the question. He is beatable. But look, I think he wins enough times to... Yeah, look, I think he's a $1.80 chance and he's a really good favourite. And hopefully he takes next step and can be a sprinter because sprinter divisions aren't very strong at the moment. So hopefully he can move into that space.
Speaker 9Did you see James Jordan's comments?
Speaker 5Yes, I did. That's a bit of a stretch. Speaking of stretch. James Jordan obviously works with Sky. Yeah. He previously with South Australia was basically saying... He used to be with Jules on the Foxcatcher. Basically saying that he thinks 11 of the day is a better horse than Tempted. Big call. It's a big call. Go and have a panadol, James. I mean... You have to have a panadol. You've hit your head. He might get there.
Speaker 9You've hit your head, brother.
Speaker 5He might get there. He might get there eventually. James Jordan, you've hit your head, brother. Go and have a panadol. He might get there eventually, but he's not at that level just yet. Now, Jack, you don't strike me as a deep odds-on sort of punter. Nah. He's got the pockets too, though. No worry.
Speaker 6Have you heard anything they say about UFC fighter pay? Not great. Oh, come on. Yeah, this is pretty simple. We live another day, one out in the quaddie, and then I'll probably have something very small, John Arkansas, Kidd, and DeBergerac.
Speaker 5Yep, beautiful. Nico, point and shoot? Is it an armor guard job?
Speaker 9Yeah, I think it is. I think it will be a point and shoot job. It's just clearly the best horse in this race. Barrier 8 looks unfair to the opposition, to be honest. They should have made it interesting and given it one, but I'm happy that they didn't. It'll win. I think it's a $1.50 chance.
Speaker 5Yep. But I want to get your quick thoughts on King of Resort, so he's quite a nice horse. Can he measure up?
Speaker 8Yeah. $13.
Speaker 5$13. Lose some, win more. Looks very short at $9.
Speaker 8$15.
Speaker 5Sweet. Well, that's bots rated prices for the Bobby Lewis. The feature race coming up is race number 8 there at Flemington. It is the Group 1 Maccabi Davis Stakes. Wait for age. And, gee, we see the return of an absolute superstar on the second line of betting. We also see another fresh, freak here at the top of betting. She's a very short price favourite. Her name is Sheezer Alibi. $1.65 with our friends at Bet365. From Sir Delius, $5. Treasure of the Moment's been met with a bit of support. $13 into $10. Mr. Brightside, $11. And you're getting out to $21 for Autumn Boy. $26 for Aliana. Now, Aliana's drawn $13 of $13 and no jockey accepted on. So there's a chance they wait with her and wait for next week, maybe a Seven Stakes or an Underwood. Birdman, $29. And the Cups double hero is half yours, $51. Speed map here, Bot. They absolutely walked in this race last year when Mr. Brightside was able to control things in a small field. I don't think they're going to go quite as slow as that. I'd hope not. He should get a nice map and an easy enough time of it up front.
Speaker 8Well, I actually do hope they go that slowly again because that's probably Mr. Brightside's best chance of winning.
Speaker 5You'll get 10 free beers in the owner's room. I'll do my best.
Speaker 8Yeah, look, I think Mr. Brightside will lead. That should be a good thing. That should be the plan anyway. Another wheel, I think maybe they'd want to roll forward on him. I think that might be something that they'd do. And Treasure of the Moment will obviously roll forward as well. Light infantryman, does he have enough speed to kick up from one? I'm not sure. But he is a horse that if he's going to be competitive in this race, he needs to be up there making it a test.
Speaker 5The big one for me is Sir Delius. Do they go forward and look for the 1-1 or are they happy just to ride him negative first up at a mile?
Speaker 8Look, I think... I don't know. Good question. Who knows? Only Craig will know that. Waterhouse and Bott.
Speaker 9Yeah, they usually do like to be positive. I can't see him taking a sit. Yeah. Not a fucking open ball.
Speaker 5But they did ride him very negatively in the Ranvit, wasn't it?
Speaker 9Well, yeah, but we've got to be learning from those mistakes.
Speaker 5We do. It's a long preparation ahead for him. If he goes forward and lands on speed, he's some sort of chance. But if they go back, he can't out-sprint his alibi.
Speaker 8No.
Speaker 9It doesn't matter where he goes to. He's not going to out-sprint her anyway.
Speaker 5Will you go first then?
Speaker 9Oh, I think she's a certainty. I think she's got the run under her belt against a few here that she's clearly the best horse in this race. She's got the most upside of any horse in the race and it could be scary how short she starts on the Whirlpool. She could be $1.20.
Speaker 5Who cares about the Whirlpool?
Speaker 9It's good to speculate.
Speaker 5Jack, do you ever have a bet on the tote? Yeah, on Whirlpool days I do. Because you back the roughies. Yeah, I don't like backing shorties. It works out for the roughies, for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 9Yeah, well, don't back any roughies here because you'll be donating.
Speaker 5Or don't be backing she's alibi on the totes either.
Speaker 6No. Do you know, this race just does my head in. Do you know? No, it's not. It's easy. Just pummel in. True fact. I have never, ever backed Mr. Brightside for a win and got up. Like, I just miss him every time. I cannot find him and it does my head in because I actually love the horse and I'll convince... Back in the days, there's... days. I was always just back in Zaki, so I I could never have him in those races. And then now since Zaki's retired, I've always either missed him or back something up. And I just, if I don't back him, they'll walk, he'll sit up front and they'll go in. And if I do back him, then something will put the pressure on and she's alibi will go straight past. So this is just a nightmare of a race for me. So I'll probably, I'll probably sit out and back suit the elixir and just hope and pray.
Speaker 5Look, I'm actually going to make Mr. Brightside my top four selection once Friday comes around for the weekend preview.
Speaker 9Hopefully she's got his monkey nuts all sorted out.
Speaker 5Yeah, he's about a dollar 80 to run the top four. So I think he's going to get a beautiful map on speed. Look, he's not the same horse he was, but he should be pretty safe. He was, he was decent in the Memsie. He'll improve up to a mile. Look, she's alibi. I can't get away from. I've already got her as a result in this race. She was awesome first up in the Winx. That was off a pretty fast. Tempo. Um, she comes here. I love that. She's drawn seven. That just means she'll just be able to find her feet, but she won't be getting too far back. I imagine she's three pairs back one off the fence. And if she lobs into that position, then her turn of foot with a run under the belt at 1600 meters should just be too good.
Speaker 9But I've already got the banner at home set ready for Saturday night. Hashtag she's home. Hashtag. She's a party. Wow.
Speaker 8Dollar 60 forward to it. That's the price. Yeah. Well, look, I think they go. Fast. She'll win by three. If they go slow, she'll probably win by one. Um, which one do you want? You probably want, no, I want him to go slow. So Mr. Bright size, a chance.
Speaker 9So you want it? You want dot. You want Tyson to do a star slow death is what you're saying.
Speaker 8Yeah. Yeah. That'd be more fun. You agonizing. It'd be fun to watch him go off and just like celebrate. Like he's going to win for about 300 meters and then he's coming.
Speaker 5So that's the boring part. You've got cheese. Alibi basically just on the market price.
Speaker 8Yeah.
Speaker 5What's your sort of opinions in the right.
Speaker 8My opinion is that I don't think so deal is can win.
Speaker 5Okay.
Speaker 8Because I think he won the queen Elizabeth because it was really fast. It was a mile and a half horse over a mile. I don't think he can win. And that's why I think he can be vulnerable in the Cox plate. If the pace isn't fast in the Cox plate. I think, I think there's a couple that can get him because he ran to that number that he did in the queen Elizabeth because of the pace that they went. He outstayed them and he won. Because he's a, you know, he's, he's just bred to be like that strong mile and a half through the line over 2000 meters and over a mile. He just, he, I just don't think he's quick enough. Yep.
Speaker 9And by the time we get to Cox plate time, we're just taking luck out of the equation and going forward and doing it our own. Don't set your own tempo.
Speaker 8Yeah. Look, yeah. Look, I think, I think she's alibis at all 60 chance. Uh, I could, I could get involved cause, cause she's one of those ones. Well, I like, I just can't say I can beat Flemington mile. Get involved, but come on, get stuck in a bit of a dollar 75 out there. Yeah, there is. And I'm looking at it right now. Just wait for the Whirlpool. No, they're with our friends at about three, six, five.
Speaker 9That's what you should be doing. Just not, just not, just not if they're giving you a 3 cent boost treasure.
Speaker 5Well, she won the MEMSY so dominantly this time last year. And then she had, um, what is it called? Colic. She had colic and she's never quite been. The same.
Speaker 8Well, yeah, I mean, there's that, but also like, aside from that, she's run to a very consistent level between like 99, 101. Yeah. So that might've just been, might've just been a complete outlier and she just doesn't have it in her to, to compete at this level.
Speaker 5I think last I've watched the replay. She had Mr. Brightside's back. She had every chance to go past him and she still didn't.
Speaker 8And they're going on a Caulfield cup path. I think they should be going on a, um, empire rose path.
Speaker 5Yeah. That was the information that came in.
Speaker 8The Caulfield cup is just, just the wrong race for her. She, I mean, she was, she's not a. A mile and a half horse. She won the Oaks, but I just, I just don't think she's, she, she didn't fall in. She pissed in the Oaks. The Sydney Oaks. Oh, no, she fell in. She fell in. Yeah.
Speaker 5The VRC actually won quite.
Speaker 9Yeah. But there's every chance to say that she was just better than the horses and she doesn't do you have to stay a mile and a half.
Speaker 5I've got a horse here that I would mark comfortably. Birdman. Comfortably around the $21, $15 mark. And it is Birdman. He's 30 to one. He's a horse who ran well first up over 14. Look, his best distance is probably 1800 to. Maybe 2000, but he's, he's a horse. Who's got to turn a foot. He can sit a little bit closer here from barrier four. And he's a horse that will be going in my quality bot. You, you agree to some extent.
Speaker 8Yeah. Um, $24.
Speaker 5Just reading out your rated prices.
Speaker 9I'm trying to keep this to see, we've got four people on. It's hard to keep it under. I bet you have a set of kahunas and have him as your top four selection.
Speaker 5I thought about it.
Speaker 9No. How about you just be brave for once in your life. Mr.
Speaker 5Brightside is going to be leading off a soft tempo.
Speaker 9This is a cheap kick out the back. How about you put ones on someone's nose and just go straight down the line. Take a bullet Dane Zorko type kick. Mate, Mr. Brightside's $11.
Speaker 5It's not, it's no gimme.
Speaker 9Dude, don't just have a little chip out the back, play softball, uncontested. Bit of hard stuff here. Put in, make a hero of yourself.
Speaker 5Well, you're making a hero of yourself right now. Yeah, of course. Jack, he's just trying to impress you cause you're in the shot. I like it. I like it, he's back. All right, let's move on to race number nine. The Aletza Lope Stakes. It is over 1400 meters. And it's for the, uh, the Phillies and also the Mayors. Gold Coast Belle was an awesome winner first up. She's been $2.80 into $2.30. Salty Pearl, $6.50. Koa Volant went on that awesome winning streak, $5.50 out to $7. Uh, then, then we're out to on display 11s and gold medalists is $12. Um, Jack, did you catch the winner of Gold Coast Belle first up?
Speaker 6She was pretty good. I did. Very strong, very strong. Not going to be with her here though. Yeah. Um, I am, I'm going to like, I just don't back those favorites as, as often as probably you boys do. Um, I'm going to have a little bit Koa Volante and a little bit on display first up and blinkers on. Um, and just again, hope for, hope for something nice to happen. But, uh, again, just remember if you listen to any of my advice, I'm not like these boys. I'm not as in the game. This is, uh, this is a bit of fun for me, but I do like, uh, I do like on display first up here after a little bit of a break.
Speaker 5Beautiful. But I think you had her as an overlay as well.
Speaker 8Yeah. I don't mind on display. She's, she's always, you know, she's had a bit of a, the market's had a bit of an opinion of her. Um, she hasn't quite delivered on what she has maybe promised, but, um, she's first up. She looks a little bit too big to me. Um, and the other one, I have something on to see what I see who I think will roll forward and has done good things, um, over this sort of distance fresh previously. I think the favorites good. Um, uh, but I couldn't, I couldn't have her as short as what she is. She seems a little bit like ludicrously short to me.
Speaker 5Yeah. I couldn't quite get her that short either. If she gets out a $2, 80 opening price is probably a little bit more fair. Um, on display, what I was going to say, Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr. Awesome. Fresh camp. Yeah. And the fact that blinkers are on first time, he has screams a little bit of intent lane lane as well. I, he typically rides her, but yeah.
Speaker 9Cool. Is she ever going to have a break?
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 9She's she got a bit of intestinal fortitude, doesn't she? She can, she can have a crack.
Speaker 5Who's the other one? Oh, first chorus. Hmm. Bit of Monomuk about him. A bit of last man standing on the Saturday night jobs. They stay.
Speaker 9She'd out, she'd out do the, some of the girls. That's for sure.
Speaker 5Are you staying out of this one?
Speaker 9Yeah, absolutely. I'll, I'll, I'll be having a quaddie with the boys and I'll be cheering that we get a result in the race. So I won't be cheering Gold Coast ballots for sure.
Speaker 5You'll be cross-eyed by this time of the day.
Speaker 9We can only hope Ben.
Speaker 5Is the Ronald McDonald, uh, Vic Taz trophy. Obviously, uh, what are you, what are you calling Ronald McDonald? Um, Ronald McDonald house, the, the foundation charity. Nico might be looking for a charity at this time.
Speaker 6They're my, they're my charity partner. Oh really? Yeah. We raised $15,000 for him in my last fight. Well done. That's good. You boys don't fucking follow along or what? Oh, you did. Nico did. Yeah. Yeah. Next time get involved. Yeah. I let people pick my walkout song and then we drove out.
Speaker 5I was actually looking up, um, earlier what, like what walkout song you've used and you've used a couple. Yeah.
Speaker 6I use, I use a few different ones, but this one I ended up with, uh, ACD Thunderstruck. Somebody, somebody selected that and I pulled it out of the hat, but it's a brilliant organization. They do a lot of great work.
Speaker 9Oh, that's good. We're going to, we're going to go with hello Barbie next time. Hello Barbie.
Speaker 5When I, um, when I introduced you tonight, I was going to go with my best Bruce Buffer impersonation and I just thought better of it.
Speaker 6Some people do it. Like I reckon I've been to an event. Like a guest speaker and the guy tried to do it and it just fell so flat and then you sit in there and you're just like, it gets passed over to me and I'm like, yeah, thanks mate. Where do I go from here? Yeah.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 6Try and save it.
Speaker 5I'm very happy. I didn't attempt it. Well, I'm kind of disappointed.
Speaker 6There's a guy. You would have made a good reel. I know we're trying to keep this short, but there's a guy who does, um, he like likes doing the ring announcer stuff. And if he sees a fighter, like he'll go to a UFC event and he'll be like, oh, I do, um, I do. Ring announcing stuff. And he'll put the arm around you and he'll give you like a full intro and you just stand there and you're like, and then he finishes and he's like, thanks mate.
Speaker 5It's so awkward. Jesus. All right. Race number 10, the last of the day and bot saving the best till last year. Storm Leopard, $3.40.
Speaker 9I could possibly go wrong.
Speaker 5And favorite from just a deal, $5, Mr. Verse, $5.50, Ambassadorial, $10. What a great campaign he had last time in. And Craig. He's $11. will he ever get back to that early form i'm not sure storm leopard is my best bet of the day i
Speaker 8really really like i thought it was sensational first up of a 1400 meters gets quickly to 17 uh look did some amazing things especially the taluk i thought that was awesome and then i don't think he quite stayed in the derby maybe he did maybe you'll make a mile and a half horse in time but uh yeah i think 1700 meters perfect i think you can roll across from the outside draw under craig williams and i think he'll hit a number that's a lot of these can't hit so um storm leopard is the best bet of the day marked in chelsea chelsea chelsea 70 he basically crossed
Speaker 5the line with sassapiro last time didn't he but he looks really well suited in front of her no no behind her just only just behind her yeah the map from 16 a little bit awkward what are you
Speaker 8hoping he goes forward maps don't exist maps don't exist no it'll go fucking hell in the data man i
Speaker 5love how you're such a data person you're just like nah he'll just lobby outside lead crap look
Speaker 8i much prefer worrying about craig williams than a map like there's so many things that can happen in a map you just make sure you don't tell him what to do when you speak to him that's good well well i could after mr brightside wins he'd come down to the winnings room and i'll say hey craig you're riding storm leopard in the last you're gonna go forward don't worry about mr brightside and if he doesn't i'll get fire jack to meet you in the car park nah craig's my man
Speaker 6yeah no i love craig he's the best he's fight your own battles champ yeah don't you mean oh look by this stage of the day boys the horses that you've all watched me back here at the potty i'll either be way up and it won't matter i'll have a heap on a few or i'll be way down and i won't be betting so i'll let you boys deal with this one are you an exotic span you like having a quaddie or a lava quaddie a quaddie's my favorite bet type that's good and i have it like i i have this weird thing where every quaddie i do i have to take the field in one leg and i have to go one
Speaker 5out in one leg i don't mind that you you do have to skinny up somewhere yeah it's a good day for
Speaker 6that anyway yeah
Speaker 5with a quaddie you always feel like you're in the hunt yeah as until one of them you know until you don't get a leg but unless you die in the first you can be going into the last leg and you're looking at the roughest you're looking at the the dividend for the roughest hope and you're like if this horse if this horse at 200 to 1 wins yeah i'm gonna win 100 grand yeah we're on it never happens but it's nice to dream the hope is we'll have won plenty on saturday so it's nice to dream every every now and then every now and then they are free that is flemington wrapped up nico what races do you want to look at at rose hill gardens the feature um where it is i believe it's a good track let me just load up my sydney stuff rose hill um hopefully it plays well rails in the five meter position i did hear some insult that they don't think it's going to be as up and in crazy fence which is probably a good thing but we know it's not going to be as up and in crazy fence which is probably a good thing but hope we'll um sort of believe that story when we see it the first race i want to start in just to talk about is the ming dynasty i think stormy marco is a really nice animal he's six dollars fifty on the third line for chris waller and jay mack um just continue to follow him out in trip i've added something on him small for the derby he was really good in a jj atkins in third race number seven is the shirako stakes lazura has been smashed in this race today five dollars into three dollars forty in this 1200 meter race and i think it's going to be a really good race number seven is the shirako stakes lazura has been smashed into three dollars forty in this 1600 meter race and i think it's going to be a really good race mares race weeping woman three dollars eighty lady shenandoah eight into six and apocalyptic has been a big drifter out to six dollars and gangster granny nines bit of news lady shenandoah they're thinking they might wait is that right for next week yeah that's what we're hearing she's drawn barrier 12 of 12 there's a chance she goes to the rupert clark which would be exciting you'd have a you know a mare that's genuinely near the top of the weights i thought the price she opened eight dollars was stupid but i think it's going to be a good race and i think it's going to be a good race the horse i'll be back in is weeping woman around the four dollar mark she's just gone from strength to strength i love the fact that she gets in with 55 kilos and she maps nicely to find the front from barrier six don't exist you know have you had a look at sydney yet nah just briefly but i love
Speaker 6apocalyptic apocalyptic extreme choice will get stronger as she gets older the breeding buff loves it you like your extreme choices yeah oh well it's best sire on the planet is he not
Speaker 5he's been going very well right up there he's been going very well recently that's um the last couple years the run to the rose we'll give this race a little bit more love this is our 1200 meter feature race now it is a group two saint goddard is our 2.60 favorite has just come in slightly today from central europe six dollars fifty under focus also six dollars fifty now the first price bet 365 put up on this horse was 13 so it's been really well backed well woven is 10 was one of the fastest finishes and call me air is 13 obviously he ran second to tron bolt in the jj he makes his
Speaker 9return here nico what do you like well i think it's a clear cut so god will be the winner of this race i think central europe's a myth and i don't really well there's a bit of a bit of spruik around for under focus but to me i think there's levels and i think he's a bit of a b great to be honest yep well woven well you imply stupid tactics you get stupid results yep so who knows what they're gonna do but yeah i think saint goddard is probably the horse to beat for a cool more at this point in time what cool more yes oh okay we're just asking why he could go to
Speaker 5the he could go to the guineas or the cool more but he's debating a cool more like yeah i don't
Speaker 9think he's a miler i think he'll go from here to a golden rose and back to the second one favorite behind guest house is he really okay i didn't know i was just clearly why your reaction maybe just well i thought guest house maybe just stay in your lane over there saint goddard will be awfully hard to beat on saturday and i think he might put himself as
Speaker 5golden rose favorite huge that's that's a big statement because obviously guest house has been going really well he won while first up but i'm with saint goddard as well it's my best bet of the day in sydney this weekend i love what he's done at the trials recently he's a a big gangly expensive son of schnitzel who looks like he might have made that three-year-old progression he trialed with the next episode who went really bad in that trial and he actually won that alarm bell so with him there's alarm bells for the next episode who i was labeling my potential cool more horse a couple weeks ago now i'm thinking that this might be my cool more horse along with guest house he's just
Speaker 9got the far better setup
Speaker 5and obviously there wasn't any um when waller accepts with his horses on a wednesday yeah he doesn't put the jockeys in straight away when i saw james mcdonald go up on the screen drawn barrier four you just know this horse is going to lob in the lovely position yeah he is first up and he's meeting horses like central europe and under focus and war woven with a run under the belt but i think he might just be better than them so yeah i'm really keen a horse that is a big price he up he's drawn out in 10 so he's probably just going to go back and be given a run i don't think he's fast enough to win first up at 1200 meters but tron bolt is a horse i've got a huge opinion of and he's my caulfield guineas yeah i like
Speaker 9tron bottle as a horse but yeah not not here it's probably just not the right setup here
Speaker 5drawn wide waller first up 1200 meters j mac you know they're going to go back with um especially
Speaker 9with tyler shill on as well he should be he should be well equipped with that because he's used to it
Speaker 5absolutely uh you're
Speaker 9best bet anywhere well outside of the shorties i think something's burning race number two at flemington will be i think it's a silly price of six dollars or five dollars beautiful
Speaker 6and jack you just want to reiterate reiterate we are on number one paradoxium race four at
Speaker 5flemington beautiful and the podcast multi this weekend but we're going to go the double again it has been going really well and my leg is going to be in the group one unsurprisingly race eight number 12 she's at the top of the group one and i'm going to be in the group one unsurprisingly alibi she's had the run under the belt she was awesome behind autumn glow in the winx look it doesn't take a genius to find this one but i think she's a terrific first leg of the multi and um might give us a bit of juice going into the last yours is i like storm leopard in the last race
Speaker 8i think he's a really nice horse uh going forward into the spring and i think if he wins on saturday he's coonji favorite so um that'll be something you're on the tulip stakes right blanco well adam we'll put this on socials and he can't we'll put this on socials and he can't we'll put this on socials and he can't we'll put this on socials and he can't we'll put this on socials and he can't we'll put this on socials and he can't
Speaker 9wait are you in a podcast multi no it's only two no is it always only two no well it's it's been two it's it's mainly been two mostly but they won last week you can't change a winning formula
Speaker 5since we changed about 365 we've mostly you've been doing a two-legger just because we want to try and keep the percentage a little higher fair fair but i'm gonna do like my own one which will
Speaker 6be that plus his saint gothard so what would yours be oh i'll i'll i reckon paradox seems a bit be that plus his saint gothard so what would yours be oh i'll i reckon paradox seems a bit be that plus his saint gothard so what would yours be oh i'll i reckon paradox seems a bit wide to to have in the multi yeah but wide to to have in the multi yeah but wide to to have in the multi yeah but what's saint goddard because yeah he's 270 what's saint goddard because yeah he's 270 what's saint goddard because yeah he's 270 so yeah i'll have him in that with you so yeah i'll have him in that with you
Speaker 8so yeah i'll have him in that with you boys yeah beautiful on my prices the boys yeah beautiful on my prices the boys yeah beautiful on my prices the podcast should podcast multi should be podcast should podcast multi should be
Speaker 5podcast should podcast multi should be 4.36 well we're gonna get about six 4.36 well we're gonna get about six 4.36 well we're gonna get about six 650 maybe even better for value punters
Speaker 8650 maybe even better for value punters 650 maybe even better for value punters value he's gotta be good hopefully it value he's gotta be good hopefully it value he's gotta be good hopefully it looks good in your bed sleep well looks good in your bed sleep well looks good in your bed sleep well we'll see we'll see
Speaker 5we'll see right we've got um we've got plenty we right we've got um we've got plenty we right we've got um we've got plenty we might even get seven dollars for that might even get seven dollars for that might even get seven dollars for that multi i reckon we'll get six dollars fifty multi i reckon we'll get six dollars fifty multi i reckon we'll get six dollars fifty at least i'm not taking it at least i'm not taking it Do we have an update? No, I don't have my book. You don't have your book.
Speaker 9Okay, you want your ego boost for next week? You're well in front now, okay? You had two winning ones in the last three weeks. It's fucking skyrocketed, man.
Speaker 5We'd be about 10 units up. Oh, more than that. You beauty. Try 500. All right, let's get to the questions. There's plenty of them. Boys, we've got to lock in. We've got to give the punters what they want. Can't wait. Yay. Sometimes, Jack, these boys, it gets to question time and they just... They check out. They throw in the towel.
Speaker 9Yeah, because we love our listeners, but sometimes they ask some...
Speaker 5Shies and hows and questions.
Speaker 9Jono, get ready to hit the...
Speaker 5Stephen R. Power.
Speaker 9Oh, blogsy.
Speaker 5Our first question. He still keeps in touch with us. One for Jack. Yep. If he could fight one person in horse racing, who would it be? Tramp Bustin.
Speaker 6Fucking flog him. Just give him the real... You'd have him covered? Oh.
Speaker 8I'll say you have five.
Speaker 6With the greatest respect, there isn't a person in horse racing who would have me. No. And Trent, there isn't a person in horse racing that Trent would have.
Speaker 5Is there any of the jockeys that have a bit of a spark?
Speaker 6So many of these jockeys can crack, like can actually box. Like the jockeys would have more going than most of them. You know, one time Frosty came in to do some boxing with me. Just let him get the sword. Not for a little bit before. Yeah.
Speaker 9They'll be fucking angry.
Speaker 6I tried to get him as tired as I could on the pads and I just could not get him tired. He was that fit. So I ended up having to put the gloves on and actually spar with him to get him to actually work.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 6Yeah. So the jockeys are all, most of them can crack and they're all hard nuts.
Speaker 5Yeah. Are you, are you good at running?
Speaker 6I can run all right, but not like those boys. Yeah. Frosty's a freak runner. I run just to lose weight. I don't run for speed.
Speaker 5Frosty runs like a three hour... So does Stacky and all those boys. Yeah.
Speaker 6Stacky, Wiz, like they all run. They're, they're grouse.
Speaker 5They run like three, four hour marathons, don't they? Yeah. They're incredible athletes. Mr. Brightside, honored to be making my debut at HQ. I'm not sure if he's talking in like third person here or first person. Honored to be making my debut at HQ. Last year was sitting by a campfire west of Sydney with one bar reception to watch the three-peat. Now I get to see the great Mr. B go four in a row. Best on track to be watching the races. Best place on track? Might be best spot on track. The hill stand's pretty good.
Speaker 6Yeah. The hill stand slaps.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 6Like there's so many good spots. It depends what you're into. Like atrium's grouse if you're just a hardcore punter. Yeah. Rooftop's good if you've already had like seven or eight dreams. There's so many good spots. You really can't go wrong at HQ.
Speaker 5If it's a nice day out there, the hill stand, which is just the general mission stand, is like near the winning post. It's hard to beat.
Speaker 8I like the owner's part. Oh, fuck off. Sorry, I had to.
Speaker 5Mate, you don't pay one cent of ownership fees and you- Come on. Come on. It was funny.
Speaker 6Walking around on his mate's- My wristband. My wristband. It's my race.
Speaker 5I mean- You are- That is Mr. Zhang, American Eagle areas. Yeah. Oh, geez. Simon Elvis. I took Cagney Rising and Autumn Glow $2 on Everest Day and King Charles Double. Saturday, She's Alibi and Olive Armagard back up the truck-free money all up double, almost as good? Question mark.
Speaker 9That's tasty.
Speaker 5I mean, it's probably, it's not on the same level as Autumn Glow and Cagney Rising in terms of confidence, is it?
Speaker 9No, but the outcome will be the same.
Speaker 5Let's hope. Bender, best futures bet slash multi for attending Derby Day on or off field suits. Jack, do you have any horses you're looking forward to or a best bet that's coming up in the futures?
Speaker 6The futures markets are so tough. They are. The percentages are just so putrid. It's like not, my thing is just don't, don't really bet it. Unless like you own something and you know it's going somewhere and you want to get a huge price and have a little bit on. I just can't get around it anymore.
Speaker 5Yeah. No, that's fair. Nico, anything? Not yet. I'm going to give, I'm going to give him Stormy Marco for the, for the VRC Derby for Chris Waller, resuming over 14 this week. I think he's a nice horse. Might be getting up and trip. But we'll have more close to the date. The Empire Roses is a race I always love on Derby Day. Rowan Greger. How many IPAs did Bot smash down after Pretty Baby got up? Also, happy birthday, Nico. Can't remember. Who was that from? Rowan Greger. Yeah, my man. Couple. It was fun. What were you drinking last week? I don't know. Lots. His bath water. Yeah, that. Your own bath water. What are you drinking? Oh boy. There it is. That's how you know Jono's back in the house, in the control room.
Speaker 6He's looking very tame from what I drink. Just beer, lager, like any lager, like draft. It's good, isn't it? Like draft. But, uh, I'd like tequila. Tequila. Yeah.
Speaker 5Tequila is pretty good on calories, isn't it?
Speaker 6Yeah, but I drink it in margaritas.
Speaker 5It's sort of evens it out a bit. Yeah. Uh, Ryan, what's each one of you boys punting Holy Grail? For example, a long range, triple figure, Melbourne cup winner, or something like Bot's Pretty Baby prediction coming to fruition. So what's your punting Holy Grail, your best sort of out wide pick or long
Speaker 6range, best back a horse to win the Caulfield guineas and Cox played in the same year in a multi and a three-year-old and then slap it, but what, sorry, what's
Speaker 5your best, like punting story or best result or best one I've actually had, um,
Speaker 6when I had fam Gorman run at Flemington, I remember that and, um, he was a $15 a place and I had a bet every day for the week into, into him and every bet got up. So I had him going for a place to win. I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And he was like, let's see what we can do. And I was like, let's see what we can do. And he was like, let's see what we can do.
Speaker 5And I was like, let's see what we can do. of your Anzac Steaks winner?
Speaker 6Yeah, we got a lot out that day, but that was- What was his name again? Epimils. Epimils. Yeah, that was big. But I was more nervous for that, like as an owner, so I hadn't bet as big. Whereas Feam Gorman, it was like, all right, we're betting the place here. Let's see what we can do.
Speaker 9Let's load up. Yeah.
Speaker 5Nico, do you have one that sticks out?
Speaker 9Nothing that we haven't said before. Like Nature's Stroop was a good horse to me a few good times. Going Rising last year was pretty good. I got tattered on my legs.
Speaker 5That's pretty old time. But- Observer was pretty good. Observer in the derby. Yeah. He's in your Twitter bio.
Speaker 8Yeah. Kingswood, when he won on- It wasn't a futures one, but that's my- That's one I'll always remember. That was a good day. It was 61s into nines, I think.
Speaker 5My two favorite days on track ever would have to be Magic Millions, the day that Kool and Gatter and King of Spider won.
Speaker 9When you hit your five-legger.
Speaker 5That was a huge day. King of Spider won the three-year-old. Kool and Gatter won the two-year-old. My other favorite day was Champions Day. In Hong Kong, when Golden 60, Lucky Swayness, and Romantic Warrior all won. But my best result on the punt, my best tip ever, remains- Without a fight. Without a fight. Tipping him in the cup's double.
Speaker 9336 to one.
Speaker 5Yeah, I don't think that'll ever happen again.
Speaker 9That would be nice. Yeah, well, we were robbed of-
Speaker 5I wish I had more on it. I think I only had 20 bucks on it, but still. We were robbed of 30 this last year.
Speaker 9Shout out to my girl, Grace Forbes. Thanks, Dallas.
Speaker 5Wow. Grace is retired and still copping drive-bys. Yeah, well, fuck her. Tyson Hunter, question for Farjack. Congratulations on getting the podcast call-up ahead of a bloke with Mr. Brightside and the Maccabi Diver, hedged in the Bobby Lewis and Moby Dick running on the same card. Was it money or the threat of violence that got you the gig?
Speaker 9Well, just doing a favor for the boys. Good to be here. We just didn't want Tyson on it. I enticed him that Bott was going to be on the ground. He kicked the shit out of him. He said, oh, man.
Speaker 5It's got bigger fish to fry. It's pretty funny. Tyson messaged me last week. He's like, hey, man, I'm in town. Do you want me to come on the podcast? And I'm like, this is a bit awkward, mate, but we've actually got Jack coming on.
Speaker 6And we've only got the one camera for two of us.
Speaker 9We couldn't get a fifth on. Yeah. And after the four of us in the night, it's lucky that he wasn't coming because we wouldn't have been on next week.
Speaker 5Tyson, we hope you're having a great time wherever you are. See you later. Sinking Guinnesses. Sure thing, WA. In my relation to the tweet saying, the muscle mass would double. He said, double. Bott's clearly having a night off then, it seems. So he's a big fan of you. Cooper Albers, something.
Speaker 8You can tell. No, you are tiny, mate. Yeah.
Speaker 5Something's burning was something licked last up in grade, but can make his presence felt thoughts.
Speaker 9Smart man, Cooper. You're on.
Speaker 5Cooper knows his stuff. You work with Cooper for a little while there.
Speaker 6Yeah, yeah. He was like my boss. That's so good. Cooper was my direct report. He taught me everything I know. And he's played good. He loves the game. It's good. He's good.
Speaker 5He's young. He's young, isn't he?
Speaker 6Yeah, yeah. Real young. Real young. He would have got a good head on his shoulders, though. He would have got a real kick out of just telling you what to do.
Speaker 5Yeah, yeah. No, he was actually really good.
Speaker 6Like he was pretty patient with me. He's just got aura. Yeah. He does have a bit of aura, Cooper.
Speaker 5Are you still doing anything with the Malua team?
Speaker 6I'll go back next week. I spoke to Will Larkin today. So it's too hard in, in fight camp. It's like you got two, two problems. Either I'll be tired at training from being with the horses and then I'll fuck something up at training or vice versa. I'll be tired with the horses from training and. I'll let a $400,000 horse off the lead and something will fuck up. So it's just too hard, but I'll go back this week now that I've got a few weeks to sort of kick back. Yep.
Speaker 5Matt LS. What's the difference between Chad on chair? Wolf versus Pike on a cosmic crusader. Both could have won with intent, but only one cops the slander, obviously He's talking about Pike
Speaker 8Well Pike was there To win a group one And Chairwolf was You know First up You know
Speaker 5That's probably a fair point And the main difference Yeah But Pike
Speaker 8Also Pike was on the favourite
Speaker 5Yeah Pike was on the favourite Compared to Lindemann being Like $2.60
Speaker 9You know It's still a fair comment You know the MO with Chairwolf So if you back him Before he gets a fast run race At a mile You deserve to do Your fucking money I can see Don't cut any other way
Speaker 5I can see both sides of the story
Speaker 9Just set fire to it Rather than put it on a horse Yeah
Speaker 5I think Pike does copy it More than he should But he does He does sort of like To ride negatively But that's just the way That Bob wants his horses ridden Yeah Yeah there's probably No right answer to that But it's a good It's a good question to ask
Speaker 9At the end of the day Unless you're privy To knowing exactly What the jockey instructions are It's hard to make a guess But
Speaker 5Yeah Yeah Yeah Arlie Olive up the straight First time Any concern lads Not for me Most good horses Do Do handle it Punter Jack What's worse Getting leg kicked Or getting beaten on the line
Speaker 6Oh getting beaten on the line That's so nice A leg kick A leg kick heals In a couple of days Getting beat on the line Sometimes that stays with you For weeks and weeks
Speaker 5Maybe even longer Ryan Bolwin Evening boys And welcome Jack Any queries about Living out of the day Down the straight six Question mark I've always had the opinion That you never know How they will go Until the day But good horses Just get the job done That's exactly what I just said Yep Any thoughts Plus Olive Plus Shiza Armour guard job Good luck
Speaker 9They're all over at the punters They're smart men I reckon
Speaker 5I reckon he's answered All these questions there Yep There aren't Like there aren't too many good horses That go down the straight And don't handle it Like when you think of it Like most of the good ones Get it done Yeah there's horses
Speaker 6That find another level On the straight You go like Oh this is a good horse This is a straight horse Like what was it Rocking Rocking Rocking horse Rocking horse Some horses just find another level Down the straight But I agree I think the good ones Yeah The good ones Get around it no matter what
Speaker 5Yeah No I agree Sometimes horses When they don't have a When they don't have A back to follow And they don't have a rail to follow They can all Like get their head up And over race down the straight I've noticed Especially when they go slow But the good ones usually do it Racing enough Farjack spoke about A doc Farjack spoke about A doco series With Gareth Months ago Where is it? Question mark Also can you break my leg Just for the thrill of it
Speaker 6Oh boy The first episode's already Wrapped up And all edited and stuff We're just sort of waiting For the right time To bring it out You know my hopes Was to sort of get it out Before the start of the spring And have Five episodes done But just how it worked out Like I probably didn't realise At the time The amount of work That went in So hopefully we'll have Them coming out Maybe in the autumn So this is behind the scenes
Speaker 5With you Yeah And the team
Speaker 6Malua And like there's different It's more just showing The different Pathways you can go To work in racing Like the first episode Is like with Inglis Bloodstock So we bought a horse With Trent At the sales And now She's in work And so It actually works a bit better To delay it a bit So you can see Like up to the progress Of hopefully her first run
Speaker 5What's that video called That they do every Friday? The Malua team?
Speaker 6Uh Dribble Deck The Dribble Deck Yeah
Speaker 5You've had much involvement in that?
Speaker 6Yeah I've been on the Dribble Deck A couple times It's pretty good It's good fun out there That trainer's hut is so fun Like you go out there That's sort of like A bit of privilege I get like Sometimes the boys Will be mucking out At the end of work And I'll be like Alright I'll go watch a few trials In the trainer's hut And you go out there And it's got like The Hayes boys in there Troy and Will It's like such a good vibe
Speaker 5Yeah No it's so good Nathan Burkett Who wins in a fight Nico or Jack And by what method? Oh
Speaker 3Yeah well
Speaker 5Question You just gotta
Speaker 9You just gotta get a little bit fierce With Farjack on the golf course Fair to say Fair to say That he's pressure He's under pressure in the ring And he's under pressure Over the three foot putt He's not He's not exactly The same beast My golf game's just gone
Speaker 6Like so far backwards too Yeah And he hit Like he stripes it It's so annoying

Speaker 5That's a different fitness Real question though How do you get into a ring With someone That you like Off Outside the ring And just go I need to kill this cunt
Speaker 6Pretty easily Like he I know like he is I turn into a fairly Different person Like by the time I get to a fight Like you all see me When I'm like jovial And having a bit of fun At the races and stuff But when it's go time Like I sort of Like if There's all There's videos of me Just like elbowing people In the head on the ground And like I don't feel Anything when I'm doing that Yeah It's almost joy Like you That's what

Speaker 5Have you seen that guy That does the simulations Have you seen those online Like five Oh my god This is just brain rot Stuff that I watch Coop Seren With a steel side bottom On the panel For the new north coach Do you think he'll pick Mr. B Mate Mr. B would be The first
Speaker 6Very left field question Not sure
Speaker 5Would you be One of the first horses You pick in every Selection Dylan Crilly Would you be With futures bets, some apps don't let you put the full stake. Why is that devil dabble, et cetera?
Speaker 9Shout out to our friends at devil. Well, there's look with futures markets.
Speaker 5There's not a whole lot in the pool, so they're probably just balancing their liability and they're not wanting punters to have too much on, but yeah, it's, it's just a liability thing, really Cooper Albers asked Jack when he's coming back to work next week, next week, there you go. Tom Pamezel for all the boys love the pod. So fave horse to bet on and why, when the money's tight group on horses. So who's, who's the horse when, when you need a winner, who's the Mr. Or Mrs. Reliable for me, it's autumn glow. If I was just to launch one horse, she just puts herself.
Speaker 9You just had so much confidence in romantic warrior. He never really let you down.
Speaker 6Jack. Well, I just don't back like shorties. So you don't really have one of those really get to me. Like my horse was the only horse that I ever backed. Every start with Zaki Zaki.
Speaker 5Yeah, well that that's your one.
Speaker 6Yeah.
Speaker 5But do you have a favorite horse? Allegra. Shut up. Be serious.
Speaker 8I don't have a horse that I back every start. I'd back them when I want to back them.
Speaker 5All right. Uh, Ben Taylor, yep. This is a, this is an interesting question. We might've upset a few feathers last week because I don't have, we might've ruffled a few feathers. I should say, Hey mate, not sure if this, uh, to drop the potty question, thoughts on the, my racehorse style of ownership and other minor ownership syndication. Like that, me personally, I think it's a great thing. It allows people to be involved with a price tag. Cheers boys, Nick. You're my forever, uh, armor guard hero, but never fair enough. So Ben smart man, fan of Niko, not a fan of bots. My racehorse and micro syndications. Look, I think they have a place. They, they serve their purpose and they are very clever. They get people involved in racing at a very. Minimal. Affordable, affordable cost. I just think as someone, and they're very like the business model is it's very clever, like you, you get people to put in a couple hundred bucks each, you get all that money from hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people, you go out and buy horses with that money, and then you give it back to them in dribs and drabs. It's a very smart business model. Having worked at a racing club though, some of the people involved in these micro syndicates can get a little bit frustrated. That's the only thing I'll say, because they think they are entitled to this, that, and the rest. And they don't realize that there's 300 people in this horse and only 300 people fit in the mounting yard for the, for the whole race. That's, that's where it becomes a little bit problematic. Yeah. Well, Jack, do you have any thoughts on this? Yeah.
Speaker 6Well, yeah, I, I get that side of it too, but there's a lot, there's a lot of good things from it. And there's a lot of things that probably it's just the reality of the finance. The finance is involved in it, but like my, one of my friends, he goes, oh, my parents and grandparents own this horse and they go on a Flemington to watch it. And I was like, oh, that's, that's great. Like what horses? And it was a, my racehorse horse. So that same, and he didn't know the difference between like being a 5% or a 10%, he just, he knew his parents and his grandparents owned this horse. So for those people, they get that same thrill, that same enjoyment of saying I'm going to the races to watch my horse, which I think is brilliant. And to be fair to my race, they found some good ones.
Speaker 5So yeah, they have apocalyptic group on when they found a couple. Um, yeah, it's just, it's just one of those. One of those tricky things when you've got people that are, um, spending lots and lots of money and they might have 10% of a horse and you've got people that are only spending like, you know, a hundred bucks, 50 bucks here.
Speaker 9And you're offering them the same sort of, you know, I think there's just going to be levels to it all, but I think, um, yeah, anything to help promote racing is a positive.
Speaker 5Yeah. Uh, the life of Daniel, what was better? The cane rising. Win or the call of the race. Such a good call. Yeah. We know Mark McNamara, he's just, he's a freak. He's one of the best, only three more to go here, boys. Corey Sutton. Thanks to bot for the pretty baby tip last week, had a fill up legend. That's all right. Top three chances in the Maccabi day of a question mark.
Speaker 8Um, uh, choose alibi, Mr. Brightside. So do this.
Speaker 5Jack, what's your top three? I'm going to go, I'll, I'll, I'll go those three. I'm also going to throw in Birdman as well. I think you can run top four.
Speaker 9So they just, just worry about one horse don't worry about three, choose alibi.
Speaker 5Caleb, any personal rules on not backing a horse because something, um, because of something example, a piece of gear that goes on.
Speaker 8Like bandages and stuff. That's not good.
Speaker 5Yep. Jack, do you have any punting rules in terms of not backing a horse? No, you're just a sicko.
Speaker 6Oh, I don't like, like if I'm at the races and something's carrying on in the yard, I won't back it. That's it.
Speaker 5I think bar plates going on is a real big, that's a negative in terms of a gear change. It's one of the bad ones for the feet.
Speaker 9Yeah. It's stuff to do with your feet. I don't like that.
Speaker 5Yeah. You don't, you don't like that, but, um, yeah, bar plates is probably the number one for me. Last question. And it is a really good one from Caleb McCormack. Who are Jack's top five in the UFC?
Speaker 6Uh, right now, currently, or like all time? Ooh, it doesn't say. Let's just go right now. Right now, currently number one, Islam Makachev, number two, Alexander Volkanovski, number three. I would have to go, well, if you can't John Jones, John Jones is number one. So we'll just throw him in there. Uh, I like Brandon Royval. I think he'll probably win a belt soon. And, um, no, I've Justin Gagey. So Justin Gagey, he's gotta be up there.
Speaker 5Lovely. The second part of that question was which horse are they most like, maybe just do one or two.
Speaker 6Um, who's Volk like? Volk's like, uh, Mr. Brightside. I was going to say Mr. B, just turns up, gets the job done and sometimes maybe doesn't get the credit he deserves. Um, so, so that one's probably one. Justin Gagey, like who's just like a sicko that like runs on from the back, but like gets beat sometimes because they just put themselves in bad positions. Ooh, maybe Chautauqua back in the day. Yeah, like a Chautauqua. Yeah. Justin Gagey's like a Chautauqua.
Speaker 5Love that. I met Volk one day. He was, um, he came to All Star Mall day. Yeah. At Moonee Valley. Yeah. Um, yeah, shook his hand. He was probably thinking, who the hell are you? But, uh, anyway, he's a good man.
Speaker 6He's like the nicest guy on the planet.
Speaker 5Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 6Yeah.
Speaker 5Have you, have you.
Speaker 6He's in a horse with me. Really? Yeah. Put him in a horse. There were roses. Oh yeah. I know the horse. Yeah. There were roses, but she hasn't come up as much as we would have liked. Now, has he ever cooked a meal for you? No, no, but I've got to get on with cooking with Volk soon. I'd love to do that. It's good content, isn't it? Yeah.
Speaker 5All right. Let's wrap up the podcast there. We, um, we did really well for time to sort of speed through Flamington a little bit more, cause there were so many questions, but Jack, we appreciate your time. We know you're a busy man. Um, thank you. And we'll get you on sometime, maybe next year.
Speaker 6Yeah. A hundred percent. Hopefully we backed a few winners today on the potty and can steer them into a few.
Speaker 5Yes, we hope. That's it. Nico, Will, go well brothers. Thanks. You win some, you lose more. For free and confidential support, visit gamblinghelponline.org.au.
