Makar got paid & Hellebuyck wants a trade

The podcast "What Chaos" dives into the chaotic, often absurd world of sports, blending real news with satire and humor. A central theme is the Kel McCarr contract, a record-breaking eight-year deal that pushes the boundaries of NHL salary caps and sparks debate about player value and market trends. The hosts critique social media culture, particularly the Carolina Hurricanes' use of a "spirit animal" trend, calling it a misstep that reflects broader issues of cultural appropriation and media oversaturation. They also examine Connor Hella Buck's public trade request, arguing that his performance and recent struggles make the move unreasonable, and spotlight a disturbing online scam by Dejon Love, who fabricated an NFL identity using AI and fake media to defraud women. The discussion underscores how modern sports media is increasingly driven by off-field drama and public online behavior, making every season feel like a soap opera. The hosts emphasize that even ordinary sports moments are layered with hidden narratives, and they celebrate their own show as a refreshing, unfiltered, and deeply human alternative to traditional sports journalism—rooted in humor, camaraderie, and a love for the absurd. Ultimately, the episode reflects on how sports culture, fueled by social media and media openness, has become more transparent, chaotic, and rich with personal stories, making it both entertaining and deeply human.

(upbeat music) - It is Wednesday, September 2nd, the United States and Canada. If the unexpected happens, Mike Babcock coaches hockey this month. And this is a show called "What Chaos" from these sports interaction studio on Boston, Massachusetts. My name is David Bean. I sit beside Pete Blackburn and holding it down in the city of Chaps is Sean Dippas. Boys, you see in that, a lot of a blank plays hockey this month. - Yeah, it's the month of saying that teams play hockey. So I was going to do it from my team and then I was like, "There's more interesting things." - It's also, like, Babcock gets fired this month. - That's a good, that's a good, unique spin on it. I like that. Also, I think we got to retire the jersey number till days, the sillest season starts. - Wrong, I would, any other day, but today I saw Dejon love Dejon until kick off and it was Dejon love standing over his birthday cake that he made for himself. - This is, like, Pete's like podcaster complains about anything, but, like, I'm just sick of that format. - You got to give the social media managers of these teams a little break though, 'cause this is like the worst time to be alive for them in terms of coming up with content. - As the Carolina Hurricanes had met and found out this week. I guess posting that stuff is safer than the things that the Carolina Hurricanes are apparently doing. Let's just do that off the top, I guess. I don't give a fuck about that. I think it's ridiculous to complain about the spirit animal thing because people have been co-opting spirit animal for, like, the last 15 years regularly on the internet. So, I don't think that the Carolina Hurricanes had meant anything by it, and I think that they're probably their biggest mistake was stepping in it by being like, "Well, I guess anybody complains about anything these days," which I, like, I understand, but I just think it was ridiculous to be mad at Carolina Hurricanes. - So, I'm gonna plead ignorance on that. I didn't know about that, but then when I saw that people were giving, I was like, "Oh, okay, well, "this is obviously something where, like, "something's being appropriated there." I don't know if that social media manager knew what they were saying when they were like, "Oh, you'll just complain about anything." - I assume that people wouldn't be finding out about the origins of spirit animal thing. - Which is my ignorance, and I apologize. I don't want anyone to be offended when that's used. When I saw someone was like, "Oh, so we're still saying this." I thought it was like the way that on the Patreon episode I was like, "Rappers are still doing defeat/duff-feet "after everyone's acknowledged "that's been done a million times." I thought that's what they were saying, but yeah, don't be an asshole. And if you are an asshole, say they didn't mean to be, or if you meant to be, say, "I'm gonna work on myself "and try to not be an asshole anymore." - Yeah, and I think, like, the big mistake by the Carolina Hurricanes, again, was, like, the person being like, "Nobody gives a fuck about this "and what happened to Sean, we lost Sean?" - Sean, he gives a fuck about it. - Somebody in the Carolina being like, "Nobody cares about this. "They should just ignore it." - Yeah, I missed that until it was in our group chat. The other thing that you said, and this is one of the todays on the show, which is, I think I called it, Pete doesn't have time for it. Two topics that you were like, a couple of things you don't really care about. - Oh, yeah, the other one is the. - And again, this isn't a, I don't care about spirit animals. - Yeah, right. - But like, just start the season so we can stop eating each other alive. - Everyone's fine. - The other one is the Evander Cain Curtis Gabriel thing. We're not gonna talk about that because it's fucking ridiculous. I think both sides look bad. I mean, I don't think Evander Cain needs anything else to look bad in terms of the shit that goes on around him, but like, I don't have time for Curtis Gabriel airing out dirty laundry when he's doing it for attention. Like, I don't, I'm sorry. I just don't have time for that. - I don't know why he's doing it. And I don't know a lot about Curtis Gabriel quite frankly. I know much, as much about Curtis Gabriel as I could from paying attention to hockey. So, and this isn't like, oh, he didn't play much. But I'm like, oh, yeah, Curtis Gabriel. Okay, cool. I know that he's like a big healing guy. I don't think I totally agree with like, the way that he's healing, but if, I don't know, whatever floats your boat or finds your lost remote, but yeah, I also don't really care about Evander Cain is in a war of words with a former teammate. And now they're like proving like, oh, I helped to help Patrick Marlow's kid with his homework or whatever. I don't like beginning the show with like, here's what we're not gonna do. But I don't know, like as Pete said, start the fucking season, man. Yeah, Nitchie, I was in the best by the other day. You know what that experience is like? Best by? Yeah. Holy shit. Were you walking and you're like, oh, can someone help me? Wait, wait, really? What? Because my experience with Best by is either there's nobody to help you or there's 800 people to help you because nobody's in the store. No, I mean, I think it's the classic you walk in. Hi, can I help you? And you're like, I can figure this out myself. And five minutes later, you could use the help but you can't find anybody. It's just that classic conundrum in which we find ourselves in Best by. And I yesterday at Best by was like, tell you fucking what? If the NHL video game were out right now, I would get it. If you were out like a month before the season where I'm ready for fucking hockey to be back as Sean is back, welcome, darling. I would get the game. But instead they release it when hockey comes back? Stupid. Well, I'll tell you what, it's because they're not prepared to have a new game. And I'm gonna put my foot down on this. It's the first time ever that I'm not going to play the new NHL game. I've gotten the game for free for like the last 10 years. I'm not even accepting a free copy this year. That's how uninspiring this new releases. And I just, I'm fucking sick of it at this point. That game needs to be better and straight up, not playing it this year. Okay, I mean, I'm not either. I would have gotten it yesterday and played it for two hours and then tried to, then like, gotten on Facebook marketplace, which I don't have. And be like, does anyone want any of this shit? I try to ponder off on you folks. Let's ponder off on the folks what we're doing on this extremely loaded. And some might say overdue issue of what chaos. We're magazine now. Today on the show, we talk about the issues we talk about our own show. Today on the show, would you rather? Kill McCarrie signed a massive record breaking contract and people immediately turned it into a would you rather? So now no one wants to kill McCarrie anymore. And I will say, I will say. I agree. Yes. Yeah, don't want Kill McCarrie. Fuck that guy. Yeah. What would have been overrated? Yeah. Sports gossip crossover Madeline Hill and Charlotte Wilder are going to join the show because, I think like largely because the day's on love thing is like just our favorite story going right now. Yeah. I usually prepare quite a bit for this show. This would fool people. But I have nothing in the rundown for Charlotte and Madeline joined. We don't need anything. They're going to come on. We're going to laugh and we're going to do day's on love stuff. Exactly. Brett Dobson makes movies. Brett Dobson of the Utah Archers of the PLL is going to join the show later on. We pre-tape that interview and let me tell you what. Stick around for that one. It is a fucking time. That guy rules. Great Canadian, great lacrosse player, great hockey guy, and a burgeoning filmmaker. We learned slash we told him. Yes. Really good stuff. They cannot wait for that and can't wait for Charlotte and Madeline to join. In just a little bit, but let us begin. Yes, Pete. Finally, Pete doesn't have time for that. Oh, right. So. Yeah. So we've already done that. We do have time for it because we already did. What did you say? I said, "D day doesn't have time for Pete." Apparently. Did I miss anything significant? No. I was just having, like, probably the worst five minutes of my entire time working for that. Ah, not true. Not true. You know what the worst time of my time working for this show has been. And it was at Super Bowl. Oh. In terms of like the most panic I've ever had, this was a close second. Every time you bring that up, I'm down to be like, "But, best bosses in the world." At the time, we were bosses. Now we're all co-workers. But best bosses in the world didn't get mad. Yeah, I mean, we ended up finding a solution for it pretty quickly. I mean, one of the. I don't know if a piece of advice I would call it, but one of the best things a manager has ever told me is that you're going to be harder on yourself than I can be on you. Because as mad as you would have been in that moment, promise you couldn't have made me felt worse than I am. But, you lost a memory. I forgot a card before we're going to record something. And the first time we recorded something together, or one of the first times, one of Pete and I misplaced something that we couldn't find. I'm not going to say who is who, but I was kind of happy it happened right away, because I was like, we need to display and show that when a problem is caused, it's going to be caused by one of the three of us. But when a problem exists, the thing you have to do immediately is solve it. And not get mad at the person. And not be like, "Okay, well, Pete lost this, so Pete, you go sit there while we look for this." Look for this and tell you what, we solved that thing in like five minutes. And one of my favorite memories of that trip and anybody who's ever had a bad day knows this. Like when you have a bad day and then there's like the thing that you enjoy at the end of the bad day, whether it's like a drink or like a meal, we sat down at in and out. And because of like the turbulence that we went through that day, that sit down and like knowing that we got through the day and survived the catastrophe, the almost catastrophe just made the food taste so much better. I agree. I love doing shit with you guys so much. Chatt is wrong. They said if I had lost the thing, I simply would have blamed Julian. We'd move on. No, we didn't know her back then, not at that point. We know like as far as things around the like my home, I'm I'm very, I'm a lot more forgiving of myself now because I just have somebody blame me anyway. A lot of big hockey things have happened since we last spoke to you, friends. The biggest one being Kel McCarr's contract, he signs an eight year contract with a 20.4 million dollar AAV, which of course makes him the highest paid NHL player ever 400 K per year short of being the maximum contract allowable under the CBA. This is a deal that begins in the 20 27 28 season and takes Kel McCarr, the Norris winner, the great Olympian and so many other things. Stanley Cup champion silver medalist to Olympian silver medalist. Maybe if Evan Bouchard were on the team, he'd be a gold medalist. But then we would call him in Evan Bouchard Merchant. We know how that goes. It takes him to age 36. A lot of takes on this contract as it happens. I mean, first we should acknowledge mind's blown when it happened. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like the number, you're like holy fucking shit. That's almost a max deal. So like sticker shock big time immediately mind blown by the term, but I had a feeling it was going to happen when Elliott tweeted like the deal is getting done soon. It's going to be a big one. And I know you think well, a deal for a top five player is obviously going to be a big one, but I did take big one to mean like, oh shit. Are we getting a superstar signing a long term deal instead of, and I know the McCarrs what 29 28, he's going to be 29, I think when the deal begins, whatever it may be. So you're telling me that it's not going to be a five year super high thing, which is a lot of the, which is what a lot of these young guys are doing because they want to get back into it. Like, are we getting one last huge eight year deal? And in fact, it turns out to be that McCarr gets eight years. I saw 20.4 million dollars in my head. I was like, Maclin Sullivan makes 18.8 million dollars. Yeah. He makes about 20.4 million dollars and they got it for eight years. It only took me, and I'm a, I'm a stupid man and I could be very wrong on this, but it only took me like one minute to be like, I love this for the avalanche. Great work. Well, I mean, like, I obviously like, I had sticker shock, but I didn't have to take long to wrap my head around it, and that's a sign of getting adjusted to the new NHL cap and the new standard, like a guy getting an almost max deal and understanding it like a minute later tells you all you need to know about kale McCarr as a player in him deserving that kind of deal. But also just that like, we're, we're pushing this thing. We're pushing the pedal down on the cap structure and the cap ceiling at this point. Now, something that happened right away and I'll admit, I might have gotten in on it a little bit, but when I do it, it's fucking joking. Okay, if I do anything again, if I do anything with a straight face, you know that I'm joking. That's the easiest tell if you're trying to see what stupid shit any of us are up to. The more serious it seems, fucking joke, okay? But I saw a lot of sincere like, wow, this makes this contract look this way. And again, I tweeted like Leon drives out of for $14 million over the next seven years is a fucking miracle. And that's correct. Nathan McKinnon for $12.6 million for the next, what, like five years. Yeah, it's amazing. David Posternox, tell boy, like there's so many examples of contracts that look better once a peer, which I would consider, out sit or kale McCar appear of like the McKinnons and the dry sidles, probably the Poster Nox to those deals obviously look a lot better. But they were signed under different caps and I don't like that comparison. What I do like is who put out the, I'd rather have Darren radish at $8.5 million. Versus kale McCar at 20.4 million dollars, which I'll cut to the chase. I wouldn't. Good for you. If you feel that way. But I was like, gonna take the brave stance of that I'd rather have kale McCar regardless of the number than Darren radish until he's like 39 years old. But I said to you, boys, I was like, well, this is what I want to do on the show. I don't want to do like 300 Leon drives out of contract or Nathan McKinnon contract victory lap, like we all know that those contracts are aging unbelievably. I want to talk about this monster deal compared to the other shit that has happened this offseason. You could say radish was before Carlson reset the market, but a lot of deals and a lot of interesting deals, whether it's radish, whether it's bone biome, whether it's the deals that the kids took on their second contract, I'll make these comparisons if you want to talk about McCar versus these contracts. And you want to just like go through them. Okay. Darren radish is eight times eight point five million dollars takes him from age 30 to 38. Bo Byram is six times 12 and a half million dollars, runs from, runs from age 25 to 30. He'll hit UFA at 31. I knew that something had to be weird about that guy. He's a Gemini. He's got that June birthday. He's AI. Yep. Some of the second contracts that were signed, Mackle and Sullivan, five times 18 point eight million dollars. Connor Bedard, five times 15 million dollars. I'm going to say straight up, I like Kill McCar's contract better than every deal I just said. Yeah. I mean, it's because you get a car. Yeah. I mean, like people love to obsess about the money. It's like, do you want, Kill McCar or not? Do you think that Kill McCar is a top five player in the NHL? He's around there. Pay the fucking guy and getting it for eight years. It's chat. No, no, no, chat. You don't get to say Lane Hudson's contract. I would rather, I'll tell you what, I might rather Lane Hudson's contract, we're not playing this game than Kill McCar's because Lane Hudson could become like a top five defenseman or whatever. But like, do I think that, do I think that Lane Hudson is a bigger steal than Kill McCar? Yeah. Maybe we have that conversation. But I'd rather have Kill McCar than Lane Hudson, yes, you just want the player to stop obsessing about the money. That's why like the Darren Ratch thing, like I'd rather have Darren Ratch at eight and a half million dollars until he's 38 years old. No, you fucking wouldn't. Maple Leafs fans get one, one semi-good defenseman, they get one free agent prize on the defense and side and they don't have to act. I think that the more interesting comparison when you say, because I truly do think the best contract that was signed this off season is that and I don't think a lot of models will tell you that. But you have Kill McCar, who I think is the best defenseman in the NHL and shout out Zach Werenzki and Rasmus Stolleen and these other guys, but what were you saying that and leaving out the guy that I think everyone would say his number two is who he is, who he is. Yeah, yeah. Shout out to him. Famously do for a deal. Yeah, I love a lot of other defensemen and even like people were like, well, Evan Bouchard at ten and a half million dollars looks like a steal now, I'd say no, he doesn't because it's a short deal, which will transition into these things. Back on Celebrini got five years at 18.8 million dollars. In the case of Kill McCar, I would rather sign my top five player for all of his best years, then sign my potentially, my current top ten, but could be top five player for young years and walk them to unrestricted free agency for their best years, which is what is happening in the case of Macklin, Celebrini, Conor Bedard, and if you want to go there as well, Leo Carlson. All these guys took five year deals when they're 26, 27, 28, they're, yes, you can sign them again, but I'll tell you what, if all goes according to plan with Macklin, Celebrini, when you're signing him, you know where this is going, when you're signing him at the end of this deal, guess who's not making 20.4 million dollars or 18.8 million dollars, that fucking guy. So show me a model that will tell me I'm wrong. It'll be the first time any of us are ever wrong on this show. I like the Kill McCar contract and I, like, their work is done now. The avalanche, don't have to think about Kill McCar ever again until they retire his number and build a statue. The work is not done with a lot of these guys and they are making huge money still. So and like the Quinn Hughes advantage, Joe Sackick, the Quinn Hughes of it all too is like, if, if Minnesota wants to keep Quinn Hughes, they, they signed the guy who reset the market. They signed Carl Capriza of the 17 million dollars a year and you, you can't tell me that Quinn Hughes is not going to sign for the maximum allowable deal after the, after the Kill McCar thing just came out and like, I guess I'll leave room to be wrong. Like maybe wants to leave some tape money on this. the table, but like if he signs him in a soda, he's probably getting the max contract. And then you're going to have what, like, almost $40 million tied up in two players. Like that is so tough, and it definitely makes the, like, would you rather, like the conversations about Carlson and Gochie, like are you really going to tie up $35 million in those guys? Yeah, probably. I mean, the only real, like, revisit and contract thing I have right now. But is respectfully, I look at Carl Caprizov, and I'm like, for a deal signed before all of this shit happened, that's not as unbelievable as all of the, like, all of his peers. And when I say peers, I mean, people like dry side all and McKinnon, who I think we all agree, are like, clearly better than him. And he's making, like, $5 million more than those guys. Yeah, but like it was, we can't like, can't wreck on the, the, or like, kind of have a changed view of like the career, Caprizov thing was insane on day one. Yeah, yeah. Like, everyone was like, yeah, no one said like, well, this will be, look this way in a few years. They were just like, they want to keep them and they fucking did it. And like, I don't know if it's, if it's appropriate to say like, well, Caprizov's deal doesn't look so bad now that all these other guys have the deals. I think it's like a lot of these other guys have the deals. A cash grab. A lot of the other guys have the deals because of Caprizov. Yeah. That's fair. Right? Like, I know Cap's going up and that changes the structure and the deals that these guys are getting to. But I think that a lot of these guys don't have the deals they have. It's not for Caprizov. Fair. Fair. Caprizov raised the cap. Many are saying. Yeah. Okay. Two. Another big thing that we haven't been able to hit Connor hella buck. Last week announced that he requested a trade quote several months ago and that because training camp is approaching, he feels it's important to make his request public because nothing has happened seemingly. This is my words editorializing. Trying to put pressure on the jets to make something happen there. That took us to Photoshop where we feverishly made these things and it's just pictures of Sean celebrating these shit out of this. The one on the left, that's one that we left on the cutting room floor. But as I was like searching my laptop for Sean dot hella buck dot whatever that captures the spirit of the thing. Also shout out Sean holding up the, the witcher's use that that's, that's, that's right. That's right. Yeah. That they had to trade to pay Kayle McCarle that money. Sean, are you still here in your music as the hell because nothing has happened so far with hella buck since he put that out other than Mike Wilbon got his ass. Yeah. Can we put that whole thing because PTI getting in on the hockey thing and then being like, well, if we're, if we're doing a hockey thing, we're not just going to do it halfway. We're going to have like the strongest possible take. It is so, so good. Jet star golden to Connor hella buck wants out of Winnipeg. So three time fans in the trophy winner announced yesterday that he asked for a trade several months ago despite having five years left on the deal here, agreed to in 2023. The 33 year old struggled last season though he was spectacular for team USA helped win the gold medal at the Olympics. Frank, do the jets owe it to their long time star to trade him? All right. I'm going to keep it clean. Heck no. They don't. They don't go back to October of 2023. It was a quote from Connor Hella buck. I'm ready to be a jet for life and bring a cup to this city. But yet as exit meeting last spring, he said, I don't know if we can get the pieces and I don't know if the players want to come. So A, he's questioning the front office whether or not they can get it done. And he's also talking about the morning, which let's face it for the, you know, the American old. Yeah. It's, you know, it's a small market, right? And he clearly has trouble there. But the idea that making it public and players do this all the time, Mike, where they want to have a nice clean divorce. It never works like that. You got five years coming to you and he's been great. But in the playoffs with him between the pipes, they're 24 and 34. So he hasn't been lights out in the play. This is a bad look for him and the fans in Winnipeg are going to turn on him real quick. No matter how nicely worded that statement was, basically he's saying, oh, we need better players. Wouldn't be one of them, dude, but they'd be better. They gave you the security you wanted, the money you wanted, they rewarded you. You signed the deal. Can you not count from three to eight? Can you, you don't know what that is? Unbelievable. No. I would call him in. He's in his agent. I'd say, you know, we love you. We signed you to this deal. You want to trade, go to hell. When I trade, unless the thing I would do now is if I was holding crotchety, it was, you know, felt like get off my lawn, I would trade him to whatever outpost I could. I would trade him. Yeah. Yeah. You know what they're going to replicate it? I would do that. That's about the only thing I would do for hell of a book. The nerve. Mike. It's the deal that gave you everything you wanted and now you want out because you're not good enough. Please. All right. Mike, think about it. He put the money in. He put the money in. You did that. Oh my god. That's, that's my PTI. That's my PTI. That's my PTI. The go to hell is unbelievable. You want to, you want to trade? Go to hell. I got to ask the question, I got to ask the question, do they, do they know what else has happened in the NHL this house? He didn't like. Absolutely not. And they know about Brady Kitchock, like they can't be shocked by this. And one, the market thing and with, with, with Larkin happening and hella buck happening, choosing hella buck as the go to hell guy when respectfully, he's in Winnipeg, brutal. Brutal. Brutal. That's, that, the clear assigned to me that they don't have much of an idea of what's going on is Wilbot saying we got to send them to some other outposts. Like, I'll do respect to Winnipeg, but it does not get more remote or outposty in the entirely, like it doesn't, in that sense, it cannot get worse. Like unless there's, they're making KHL trades, I don't think they can really make his situation worse. I'll do respect to Winnipeg, but I think we all, yeah, it's, that's the reputation that it has. Uh, yeah, that's hilarious. That was the best. Sean, before we get to our guests, how are you feeling about the sabers in hella buck? I mean, I would love to have him. There's plenty of, um, you know, there's plenty, I think a plenty of sabers people that don't, uh, don't want it for the age and the price. I don't care. I don't care, man. Like the window, the windows now, they prove that the sabers prove that they can, they can play good hockey now. I don't really care what that looks like in five years. Like, I don't think they need it. I don't think they need it. If you're going to win a cup, you're going to do it in the next five. I'll give, I'll give chat some credit here. I feel like chat is the kind of clock clocking exactly what's going on here, which is like these guys aren't necessarily wrong in the way that they're kind of going about this and skewering him just for like wanting out. But he also like has been the most accommodating of the guys who have demanded a trade this summer. Like he's kept it quiet, kept it in the back burner. He's not demanding a trade to like three specific teams or in some cases, one specific team. I think that this is the most appropriate way it has been approached by any of the, these guys this summer. And like because he's the last one, he's now all attention is on him. I guess he's one of the two last ones with him and Dylan Larkin, but like it, that's a little harsh. I think he's trying to go about it mostly respectfully, but that now you have the Luke of Angelista trade where now people say, well, the devil's now can shake some of their forwards loose and trade for him like, yeah, fine. Do that. I want there to be more teams than obviously the sabers or somehow the Panthers, although it would fucking rock if the Panthers got him and then he sucked in the playoffs. No, that would be amazing. If like he undid all the shit the Panthers have, the Panthers need to have like a clear weakness. Yeah. I like that about them. Okay. Sean, are we good to go? Uh, should be. Oh, fuck yes. Let's party. If you folks know anything about us, it's that our favorite show is Sports Gossip Show. It's basically a, it's like a similar vibe to what we do here, but it's newer. So there, there's just more like exciting energy that they have going on and they talk about exclusively the nonsense. Like we just did some trade shit. They do exclusively the good shit. Madeline Hill and Charlotte Wilder are friends. Welcome to the show. Hi. Thanks for having us all. What an intro you gentlemen. It's so good to see you. I will also add that like you guys do real journalism, which is incredible stuff at point. Yeah, what's up? What's gossip and like the pop culture elements deserves real journalism and you guys are the best. Oh, wow. I would have to like screen grab this and put it on my Instagram. Seriously, Pete, thank you so much. You guys are just gassing us up. It's such a, well, I was just saying to Madeline, well, well, first of all, we thank you guys. are awesome. You're set also rules. Thank you. Thank you very much. It's very expensive. Yeah. So I'm glad. We love it. Yeah. ours is not because it's my apartment and I have a grandfathered in least. So what are you going to do? But like I feel like it's part of the charm of your show. Like a lot of people have shitty at home podcast setups and it is not part of the charm of their show. It's just like I wish they had fucking put any care into it. I like that you have a charming house that like you live in. That is not a fake background that is you have good style and it's part of the charm of your show. Thank you so much guys. Thank you so much. After like two months of watching your show, I was like, yo, this really works for them. Do we need to be spending more money on all this? And he was like, Pete's correct. He was like, we can't go back now. We've already established that we like want all this. And we've already shown that we don't have the chops to make a good home setup that looks good. Yeah, because we tried that for like 300 years with another show. And it didn't work. You know, we also Sunday maybe with a little luck. We we will have a studio just because you know, we can't keep like turning the table in my dining room around every time we do this. So it, but hopefully we'll be able to bring some of that charm to to the next chapter. So nobody freak out. Well, a lot of what we'll do in this conversation is obviously Dejon love who what what is his take again. Females don't understand how any professionals will work, especially a man sport like football. Dejon. It's a man sport, man sport, man sport. If you were I mean, I like that. I like that. I like that. That's where you were kind of offended by that sound bite is that football is a man sport. Not that women don't know anything about any sports. No, listen, I I have subbed in for quarterback at many guys birthday party in middle school to potentially impress them. So I'm offended by that point. Yeah, yep, yep, yep. I also think, you know, yes, it's it's a little too obvious. It's all it's like Dejon, get a be more interesting. You know, come up with a better insult. It's like women don't know sports. Oh, okay, what is this? Like 1980s ESPN no offense. So I mean, like, you know what's horrible though about that is like between and I assume everyone kind of knows about Dejon love now. Use the guy who along with his accomplish, accomplished, accomplished. They're no longer as accomplished. Taylor Chan, who, as you noted, he just don't really match up there. He's 35. Taylor Chan is 18 years old. They scam 23 women out of $1.3 million. I got a point out. I got a point out that they've been doing this for like several years. This point. So like this dude was like a 33 year old guy linked up with a 16 year old scam and women started in 2022. So he was 31 and his his accomplice was 14. And it could have started even earlier than that. We don't even know what's going on there. Yeah. When I found that out and when I found out that he, one of the people he targeted was 17 years old, it was like this weird thing where I was like, Oh, no. Our like my guy is being milkshake duck. It turns out this guy has some like shady behavior. And then I turn my myself like, no, like we're all just celebrating a criminal who was scamming people out of millions of dollars. Like the videos are funny, but this guy is doing a bad thing. But the the where I keep going back to is like I tend to not feel bad for the victims in this because it is such an audacious scam that could have been easily found out with like a quick Google search. So like that's why I love this story so much is that like I don't necessarily have to feel bad for the victims because like what are you? Like please he's he's banking on his victims not knowing anything about anything. Whether it's sports, the internet in certain cases like that you can't buy stockholder shares in individual store locations. That's my favorite part. He's a majority shareholder of three Gucci stores, one of which is located on sax fifth avenue. Which is incorrect. That's not not accurate. The thing that I wonder about the story is I do think that there's an element. I agree. It's like how did these women fall for but clearly he was a very good master manipulator. And listen, if you're like early in a relationship, she was probably just like believing what this man was saying. And I don't know if you guys saw that he had I guess like changed the AI auto like search feature. So if you googled his name, it came up with like he is a player for the 49ers. Which yes, you could then argue like why didn't they go then look at a roster to be like wait has this man ever played professional football in his life for sure. But I do feel like sometimes early on when your day used to do like a quick Google, you know. And maybe that's what happened in some of these instances. I also think that just the fact that this story is also about like AI and internet literacy is like, well, of course it is, you know, like I get so mad when people are just like, okay, well, I googled it. And this is what AI said when the Google AI thing popped up, which is Google trying to keep you from going other websites to gain access to that information. Also, a lot of websites have blocked AI from scrubbing the actual information. So you're just being fed garbage. And it's like, but a lot of people don't know that. And that's where these tech companies have accountability. So you could say that deja on love is Google's fault really. But also it's just like, you know, if someone is if you trust someone and you're falling for this guy, you that's when that's how people abuse people or manipulate people in general because they're charming and the person on the other end of it wants to believe like, well, this could be my boyfriend. And maybe he can help me make some money at the Gucci store who's to say. Yeah, like we talked about it on a patreon episode where we were like, there's some financial Darwinism to this where like if you're falling for it, you, I guess don't fit into this survival of the fittest there. But like, why does a person need to have that much literacy about AI and all of this shit to just not get there? Like, maybe there a lot of his victims don't know about football and do think there are three levels of waivers, one of which is emotional, one of which is mental. And yeah, I mean, the AI thing, Nick Moll and the other day put it like you Google something and then AI says like, oh, like, may I have this dance and steps and it gives a completely incorrect read on it. I'm not trying to be lame and be like, well, let's feel for the victims. But like, just because I know about that shit doesn't mean that everybody should and I will remind people much like when people are like, you have 400,000 unread emails. I say, we all just made up this shit a few years ago. Email only started being a thing recently. So you don't why what are the fucking rules? I don't know them. These hashtag justice for the for the victims. Yeah. Okay. So I got I'll backtrack and say like, I feel bad that people got scammed and I feel bad that people were lied to and that they they bought it. But like, I do think that some of the lies were so audacious and so easily, easily found like fact checked. You could have fact. You could have gone to the 49ers website and just scrolled down and not see that guy there and add some, ask some questions. But so chats asking for some context here. I guess we didn't like properly lay out with high. I just assume that everybody knew about this story because I'm online. But there is a guy who has just been alleging to be a 49ers wide receiver for years and scamming like many, many women out of like over a million dollars by saying that he's a 49ers receiver and he's like making all these audacious claims that he's got like multi million dollar properties and all these different places and then asking them for money and like sleeping with them like that's where like I will obviously say like all of this is bad behavior on his part. But like having personal relationship like not just being a online scammer who's like tapping into your bank account, but actually having interpersonal relationships with people that you are lying to to the ends of the earth is like obviously scumbag behavior. And then there's the added element of like some of the victims were were underage at least one of them seemed to be underage and they were being groomed like go to prison go to prison right now. Like I don't do not pass go. Yeah. And like I don't want this guy to profit out of all of it. But the lies being so audacious is where the humor is. The individual videos are the greatest like the best content I have seen a man who says he was an undrafted free agent who tried out for and made the team listing off what I think I was trying to keep up with it. I'm like he's talking about how much stuff he owns and he's talking about his real estate like 300 million dollars worth of property. I was explained to my girlfriend I was like he maybe is making like like a million dollars a year but can be cut at any point. Yeah my favorite personal one as a sports fan was him posting the video of like his like his like the decision type video where he's signing the contract with the 49ers as an undrafted rookie like there is this big media spectacle of teams lining up to sign him it's the best. Well the thing about that we talked about it on the show was that wouldn't it be a docu sign number one I feel like in twenty twenty six or whatever year he fake signed this alleged document twenty twenty four or whatever it would have been a docu sign this man wouldn't be printing out the contract which also I think looked like it was only maybe six or seven pages and listen I'm no lawyer but I do feel like a rookie contract in the NFL is more than seven pages I could be wrong but I also freaked me out I was like what there was something I think you know it's a it's a horrible thing to do yes go directly to jail scumbag behavior but it is almost understandable I mean I said to Madeline on our show I was like I'm shocked this doesn't happen more because especially in football you can be a normal sized man and say you are you know a long snapper like you don't have like you can't you can't really fake being an NBA player but like you can go buy a 49ers helmet and go to a football field and it's like that content looks a lot like what the content of you know lesser known players can look like and so in some ways I'm shocked it doesn't happen more I also think that if there's anything pure to take away from this man's grift it's that he was he was like doing he was play acting he was being a kid like setting up a play for his parents about signing an NFL contract like there is an element of this where like what person doesn't want to be drafted to a pro sports team and he was like what if I just put on a little play and then ruined at least 26 people's lives so you know that part not good but there is an element where it's like our whole culture defies these people and like that's all anybody really wants in their heart of hearts is to have a press conference saying where they go play sports and he he made himself one you're right what you're saying is he's the the Daniel Day Lewis of yeah that's that's like part of what is so funny about this he's approaching it exactly the way that like a seven-year-old would approach being a fake NFL player down to bringing his helmet everywhere that he goes like when he gets a haircut he's bringing his 49ers helmet which like here in NFL player most of them don't bring their helmet outside of the facility in which they work and he's bringing it everywhere and he's he's DMing all these companies being like yo let's work together cameo I will do some cameos for you but not for the anything under than five thousand dollars that is my starting point that I would add you I mean you're talking about the childlike nature of it down to the fucking birthday cake yes he made himself a birthday cake that said hey guess who's special day it is and it was a 49ers jersey with love and number seven on it which I know there's been a big stripling off season I don't know if you saw he switched his number yeah to number seven also the 10-year anniversary of Colin Kaepernick so right so like lot like number seven on the 49ers hot in the streets but you brought up the cameo thing Pete he messaged cameo and basically said hey I'm on the 49ers don't look it up if you're a female you don't know what any of this means but 49er is football and my teammates are on this and I'd like to do it and died ends with I can do the cameos for as low as five thousand dollars which is absolutely going to become people say my new vocal stem but anytime I'm asked to do anything the rest of my life I will say I can do it for as low as five thousand dollars I can pick up coffee Pete on the way in for as low as five thousand dollars I'll get you back here's it here's the thing I think part of why this worked is that we are all primed to believe it I feel like people these days believe something if it's expensive they're like oh you'll do it for as low as five thousand okay well you must be legitimate you know it's like when I had a jewelry business when I was 14 and charged like three hundred and seventy five dollars for a bracelet I made and my argument to my mom was like people want to pay for nice things and I sold it at the farmers market and people did buy it so you get a little bit of positive reinforcement and all of a sudden you're telling Cameo that you'll do it for as low as five thousand dollars do you know about the and by the way Madeline I'm over due to say this is your mic on it might be possible that charlotte's mic is picking yours up can you hear me check check keep going sound a little further can you hear me sounds like it's on for us can you hear me now I mean we hear you it's just it just sounds like it should we share a mic I mean it's it's bouncing on like we've got the little things going okay it's I mean it's definitely good with this far yes exactly all right do you know about the social experiment where somebody put a I think it was a TV outside and it said free and no one took it and then changed the sign to like two hundred fifty dollars and it was stolen within like ten minutes because like if you survive high value to something that people don't know because you walk by that TV you don't know if it's broken if it works whatever like I don't care about that thing but then you see there's a two hundred fifty dollar TV over there I better try to get my hands on it and that's what Dejan loves doing and you could say it's ridiculous that he's saying five thousand dollars but this is the same line of thinking that worked on a lot of people yeah and I mean like I something's off up there but I will give him credit for not going small he's not pretending to be the 53rd guy on the NFL roster he is propping himself up as one of the best wide receivers in the national in the national football league dress for the job you want exactly so make yourself a birthday cake for the job you want yeah if you're gonna be a scammer and go to jail at least try to get some big money and some big accolades super bowl champion he didn't get there but maybe maybe down the line okay as my IFB is only in one channel and we get it in mono the chat who is probably watching on things with two speakers says that they're in stereo so Charlotte is in one ear and Madeline is in the other so what's like is Charlotte is in the ear that we're doing and then Madeline is coming through fine on the other but we're here okay as if you were to talk and I were silent it would just come through on this so stereo is fun everybody shout out I believe the late 1960s which is when people started doing that so you get a Beatles record you want to get the mono ones have we managed to just be in stare like have we been in stereo the whole time we've been doing our show on this maybe so we've got her wow well you could say behind well we're the Beatles we do in mono but you're like you could be like maroon five which is we're a huge maroon five podcast that was not a slow wow did they do stereo I will answer that question with this oh yeah yeah there's stuff is in stereo it's being mixed in stereo I like the idea I love it of stereo and just like feeling like there's one of you on each side of me while I listen to the show it's like ASMR that no one wanted yeah most podcasts are it's like blank that no one wanted yes when I saw this happen the day John love stuff because I saw pop-up and I was like I'll catch up on that later and then the world whether it was Pete whether it was my algorithm was like there is an endless wealth of this and this is the funniest thing in the world so this will be in your face no matter what so once I sat down and consumed a little bit of it I hit up you too and was like so what is your day like when this like when something like this happens where I I think of it as like this has to be your Super Bowl but Jordan Hudson shit happened last year and that was your Super Bowl and Tom Brady is wearing leather pants now and that's your Super Bowl so how many Super Bowls are you on right now well I think it's unlimited we really don't have a concrete number I think it really can be unlimited and this just felt like another gift that was presented in our lap like a little present so that we could share with our dear shareholders and we're glad that we had the honor to be able to do that we joke often that like starting this show was a it's been the best thing we've ever done but B it's also it's like we did this to ourselves which will be the name of my memoir if I ever write one but it's like we every time something like this happens we're like oh my god it's endless and then it's like well yes that's why that's why we do have a show so the universe the sports gossip gods are just really blessing us constantly so what was what was like the inciting incident if there was one to start the show because like we we had the battle of Alberta in whatever was we like damn we would really like to do a crazy hockey show because of being able to talk about this was there anything priests the sports gossip show that you were like this is what we should do a show for yeah so I had a newsletter called impersonal foul that the tagline was a bravo and ESPN had a baby which we've kind of carried over into the ethos of our show that I started in 2020 and Charlotte very kindly wrote a blurb for my newsletter in 2024 about NBA gossip from that past season And afterwards, I was like, I think we should get on a phone call, but Charlotte and I didn't know each other. And we got on the call because I had started seeing in my like subscriber list on sub-sack. I was like, okay, more people from media companies are subscribing and someone's gonna steal this concept. So I feel like this needs to become a podcast before someone with way more money than me turns it into a podcast. And so Charlotte and I got on to our phone call and basically by the end of it, I pitched sure the concept of the show. And I was like, do you wanna do this? And then we did. And I said, if I saw anybody else doing this with you, I'd be so pissed. And this is, you know, it's sort of, it's like the stuff that I've cared about my whole career. And when I saw that Madeleine called it sports gossip, I was like, that's so brilliant. And yeah, I think it's, but it's just the stuff that both of us have been interested and somehow the sports gossip gods brought us together. And then it's just been, we've been off to the races. And it's just funny to see sort of like the main characters develop. As you said, Jordan Hudson, Tom Brady. We have been monitoring LeBron in a way that we haven't mentioned that he's going through something. So you know, it's just, it's never, it's never a dull moment. - Do you think that sports or like in sports gossip type stuff is getting crazier by the day? Like since you guys have started a show or is just the way that sports are covered in the access to sports just becoming more open? - I feel like it's a little bit of both. I do feel like in some ways, especially with social media, you are seeing more public figures. In this case, athletes or people in the sports adjacent universe being very online and you can kind of read between the lines of maybe what's going on in their heads, whether they think we know about it or not. So we're being exposed to more content. But then I do also think that in sports media in general, people are realizing, oh, these off-the-field storylines are what people are very interested in, not that we are not interested in what's happening during the games, but what's happening off the field definitely has an impact on the field performance as we always talk about on our show. - I also think that sports media for a long time, we always say like sports has been for a long time, socially acceptable gossip for men. And I think that sports media has been and still is geared towards that. And people who are in sports writers or broadcasters or doing this in a very, quote, serious way, they wanted to feel like math. And really, it's more of a soap opera or a reality show. And so I think people like you guys doing the show the way you do it is so refreshing and it is so fun. And it's the same ethos that I think we all share, where it's like, wait a second, this is ridiculous. Like all of this is ridiculous. And I think it depends on your worldview, which I think all of us sort of think that everything's ridiculous in general, so you apply that to sports. But I do think that it's really important for these kinds of shows and those kinds of attitudes to be represented. And it's just interesting that so many of us have had to go outside the traditional media ecosystem and start them ourselves and be like, okay, well, we're gonna do it this way. And it seems that people seem to like it. So dare to dream. - One of the all time backfires in the NHL front was when they put out a preseason ad campaign that was like no soap operas, just hockey. And then for that entire year, it was just like a story after story after story after story. And every fan was like, no soap operas, just hockey. And it illuminated how true that statement is that just like there's just a million things that happen over the course of any season that you can make into a soap opera because it is a soap opera. And when we started the show three years ago, we had a crazy first season. There was so much shit happening. And there was so much fear deep in my heart that like we got really lucky that it was crazy. And it turns out that every season is just that crazy and being so talented in like the new age of sports. - Finds you these stories so easily every single week. So I have no fear anymore that like we're gonna have a boring season because nothing's ever boring. It's all a mess. - It's so true. Nothing is, and you know where to look. And also even if there is something that on its surface seems boring, you poke around a little bit and you're like, wait a second. - Well, it's gone on here. - Like the GM of the hurricanes. You're like, well, he seems like a pretty math based man. And then you dig a little deeper and you're like, oh my god, he was splitting electrons. Like nothing is boring really. - Yeah. And like highlighting how dumb sports is part of the fun of being a sports fan in my opinion. - Yes. - Just like the easiest fucking thing in the world. Like we all put a lot of work into this shit and I work a million hours a day and Pete doesn't sleep and all these things. And Sean is just endlessly making stuff. But it is ease, I'm never looking at a ridiculous thing that happened or like a stupid play where a player's blade falls off and he's crawling. And I'm like, so what's the read here? (all laughing) - Like what's my five paragraph essay gonna look like? - It just literally show it and talk to your friend and everybody laughs. - Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty great. It's pretty great. Can I ask what's your current read on the state of the NHL and like where does the sports gossip show stand on particular like beacons of hockey if there are any? - Oh, I mean, I think that last year with the US men's national team stuff it kicked off a whole new group of people who are interested in it. I think for me like something that I sort of perked my well, you know, I found interesting. The Kochuck brothers playing together now. - I like the way you worded that now where I know where you were going. You're like, hey, these guys are interesting. - Yeah. - Look up what it means. It doesn't mean that I like some. I said that all the time. By the way, when I use words where I'm like that this is not an endorsement. - No, no, no, no. Well, it's just, you know, it's fascinating. These brothers making such a big deal about being in the locker room with Cash Patel where you're like, well, you aren't partying with the feds. And now they are partying together in Florida. In Miami specifically, feels like the behavior of men who are interested in federal law enforcement for one reason or another to, you know, so. So that's something we're tracking. We admittedly, we always get comments. We have to do more hockey. So if you guys please come on the show and also just like send us a drop us a line every once in a while and be like, you need to check out this story because we're not always as tapped in as we need to be into the NHL. - Yeah, always use us. We feel such a kinship with your show because a big part of like these concepts that you would think like, oh, well, that's like a pretty understandable concept. Talk about hockey and how absurd it is or talk about the off-field story lines or magazine shoots or whatever it may be in sports. It's like, it does have to come to you with the right people. Like, Madeline, it's such a good idea and it becomes an amazing idea when it's like, I'll do it with Charlottes. - Right. - And it's like, that's why I feel the kinship with your show because like so much of the shit that we do, I'm like, I know this isn't funny if Pete and Sean aren't there. Or if like, I'm just sitting there by myself, I would be fucking drowning. It's a perfect storm of a lot of stupid stuff, but it's so fun. And then once you are like, your shareholders are awesome and I love how they pester you. I love how our chat basically fucking owns our ass for two hours every time we do a show. - Some of the comments popping up are so funny. - They're really good. - Oh, yeah, I'm getting killed today. What are you about to you for? Every take that I've had basically on today's show. - That's good, that's good, that's good, that's good. - We should, we should do, we should get some brand somewhere to pay us to go to a hockey game with you guys. - Oh my gosh, I would love that. - Let's go to a Bruins game. It's been so long since I went. - I know just the brand, Cal. - Yes. (laughing) - We're gonna email Kelsey back. - Perfect. - And on that note, perfect. - Go to hell. - Do you have like $800, please? - Yeah. - Please. - I love it. - That's how it happens. - I would, I should circle back with Kelsey. - No, you shouldn't. - Did they email you guys too? - Yeah, we didn't respond. - Yes. - Same, same. - No, I responded and I said no. - Oh, you did actually respond? - Yeah, that's why I want to circle back and have it meet me reignite the conversation after just being like no fuck off. - What you should do is say no, but then loop back and say actually, but have it be such a low price? Just be like-- - For the low price of $5,000 a year, you can be our presenting sponsor. - And we're like perfect. - It's a steal. - It's $100,000. - No, no, no, no, no, you will listen to us, Kelsey. It's $5,000. - It's $5,000. - Final offer. - Or bust. - Oh yeah, or we walk. - Yes. - Sorry, Kelsey, we're making fun of you, but I'm on board making fun of Kelsey. It's not my thing. - We're not sorry. - Sports gossip is our thing though. You two are the-- the best and we love your show. Keep absolutely killing it. You're still just how young is the show now? - Just two years old. - 'Cause it's four, 14, 14, yeah, 14. No two years old. - That's a, I mean, you're your killer chin era. - Yes, exactly. - Yes, we are. - Well, same to you guys, we're such huge fans and thank you so much for having us on. And let's do this again sometime, and let's go to a hockey game. - Yes. - That is mandatory, that will happen. Appreciate you too. Bye friends. - Thank you. - Bye guys. - Thank you. - That's Madeline Hill and Charlotte Wilder of Sports Gossip Show. Man, that is, and that show is so good. - Do I overstate it though? I think I say it too much. Like every time I talk to Charlotte, it ends up being a conversation about like, we're not so different. - You're showing mine. Like I feel like when I watch their thing, I'm like, that's what we do, and when we do our thing, I'm like, - They should do a better more eloqually. - They should do a better more eloqually and everything. Yeah, better or whatever, but like, it's not in a, like, I want to be more like them, or here's how we do it versus their thing. It just feels like we exist in the same world. And as someone who, a lot of the shit that I and we've tried to do in like the media space, which is ever changing, is automatically like, well, that's different from the rest of this thing, therefore X. I'm like, I see this, and I'm like, one of us, one of us. And I see that in the most complimentary way possible. A lot of people would take that as an insult for us to be like, "Hey, we feel some kinship there." But it's such a good show. The vibe is very, very fun. They're the good guys. And it's like, there is one and it's a team that doesn't have a center. It's a team who has coal strange starting on their offensive line. That would be my charge boys. But whatever you are on, price picks. There they're like, who, like Josh Jacobs. I would say nothing's probably being offered on Josh Jacobs. But you wanna look at some of those backups. Run your game. - We got fresh bread, Marshall Lloyd. - Yeah, Marshall Lloyd Apology. - Marshall Lloyd is the backup, yeah. - A starter, I should say. - Very good, shut up, Marshall Lloyd. - Bread, Marshall, back on his bullshit. - Yeah, we have fresh bread, Marshall. Apparently Tim Stutzler is a finalist to replace Brady Kachuk as captain of the senators. Brad Marshall commented on a puck empire about this, 'cause it said puck embers of the senators are reportedly closing it on a decision who's gonna replace Brady Kachuk, 'cause they're captain and the big three of Shabbat, Tim Stutzler, Tim Stutzler, and Jake Sanderson. Marshall posted, ha, ha, ha, dot, dot, stutzler, ha, ha, ha, ha. - I gotta say I'm a Brad Marshall guy through and through. I will always side with Brad Marshall no matter what it may be, even if it's a dirty hit. I'm just gonna say going down with the ship, I know I'm wrong on this one, but that's my guy. I don't like a Marshall on German hockey player crime. - Yeah, and I don't know, this feels, has the energy of like, that's a Brady Kachuk comment by proxy. That's his teammate now, Brady Kachuk, relaying a message via Brad Marshall, I don't know. - He only called out one of them, so he clearly has his choice on who he thinks is gonna be captain or should be captain or at least it shouldn't be Stutzler. It's just a, it's just mean. I don't care, but it's just mean, Brad. - What did he never do? - He never did, I don't know. It's bad behavior, but because it came from Brad Marshall and it's got a little bit of like, he's just fucking around. - No, I'll just stand with it. - I hate the senator, so I'm not gonna complain about it. It's just like, like, I wanna know if there's any, I wanna know like what their relationship, like is, do they have some kind of beef? Like, was there some dirty shot that kind of didn't get publicized? Like, now, Sean is like, it's fucked this guy forever now or is he just like, yeah, I played him soft, not captain material, I'd know. Like, because that just mean, but also I love it. - I loved him, Stutzler. - I mean, he is a bit of a shit though. - Of course he is, but German hockey player. - Not the kind of, not the kind of player that Brad Marshall particularly tends to enjoy. - Yes, not surprising that Brad Marshall would be like, this guy fucking stinks, baby. - Yeah. - I did see that after the Evangelista trade, an analytics person, the smart one was like, and just like that, the Devils have the best forward group in the NHL, I didn't even need to look. I was like, no. Panthers have the best forward group in the NHL. - Correct, yeah, they, like, let's see. - I mean, the Devils are deep, but they don't have the, they're suddenly deep, which is their big problem and they have no pressure, they had no depth at all, but like, just because you add depth doesn't mean that you have the best forward group in the NHL. Like the Panthers top nine is fucking patently ridiculous. - Yeah, and they don't have, they don't have like, I don't know if you want to say like a McKinnon or anything, but like, they've got the Panthers? - Yeah, Barcov. - Yeah, so they have Barcov who I think is like a, if you're grading very strictly and saying there is like, one A plus player in the NHL, it is Connormick David. And then there are maybe a handful of A players and it's, they take your pick, it's McKinnon, it's McCarr, it's, Queen Hughes, it's Leon Drysaddle, whatever. Like, Barcov is like an extremely high A minus player. And then they've got like, whether it's the Kochucks, whether it's Reinhardt, whether it's Marshall, like they've got so many like B plus to A minus players that yeah, yes, they don't have an A plus player because there's only one of them in the league. It's the Panthers. - Why do you ask a good question? - Would you rather have Kael McCarr or the Devil's Forward group? - For 20.4 million dollars. What's the collective cap for the Devil's Forward group? - The Evangelista trade is weird to me, man. - I'm especially the timing, man. - What are you doing, Preds? - And by the way, I'm cool with trading Luke Evangelista for a conditional first and a second round pick. Those might end up being magic beans, but like, I don't, he's like a top six forward there. I don't want Luke Evangelista to be like a first line player for me. - I will say, I think that he works a lot better for the Devil's than he does for the current state of the National Predators. And I think that that's where the value is in the Predators. Like, I like the trade for both sides, even though it was a very surprising trade to me. I think it makes sense for both sides. Like, the Devil's could very much use a player like Luke Evangelista. I think he's gonna be really good and fit into their system pretty well. And I like it from Nashville side, where it's like, you got a guy who's got one year left on his deal and you can get, like, I think that's pretty good value for him, a first and a second round pick. And the Devil's still have four first round picks over the next three years. - Thank you, Simon Nimitz. - I did see someone. was like, all right. So this is it. McFarland is full in on a rebuild for the predators, to which I say, Ryan O'Reilly is still on the team. And maybe that's going to change soon, but there are some obvious if you are rebuilding your move in these guys. But if you play them first line, whether it's O'Reilly, whether it's Stamco's, whether it's even if it's like Roman Yosey guys like that, just like on a bad team, they will be gold among garbage. And then you can, that will boost their stock. And then you can move those guys out. But I like the, I think it was Speely, a player named Evangelista on the devil is quite funny. I hadn't thought about that. That's that, that is very, that is very quite humorous. I wanted to, I was doing some quick number of crunching based on the, the top line that is currently listed on daily face off. Kalmokar makes more money than the entire first line of the New Jersey doubles. So to your, who would you rather have the, the, currently for the record, it's listed as Meyer, he, her and, uh, Evangelista, and they make just over or just under $19 million, I believe I got a point out that the devil's saving their money for your, when he used. Well, and that's what I was thinking earlier when you're like, he's going to get paid the max. Unless he doesn't want to, because I was like, but where? Because I mean, New Jersey. I don't know if you saw the Bill Garen quote, but the Bill Garen quote was like, I don't know if this Kalmokar deal affects Queen Hughes at all, because Queen Hughes may just have different priorities. And Bill Garen is just talking, man. That guy is out there, yapping. And a certain situations he doesn't necessarily need to put himself in. He's also what he has, what is he ever done? Yeah, I mean, the guy loves to do media. I don't think he needs to do so much media. Um, I don't know if you saw the clip. I think we have it of him going on that radio show. It was quite a ridiculous clip. Let's show that pledge today. That if you are on average, if you are unable to get a contract extension, I'll never come on for Queen Hughes. No, no, and you are then forced to trade him. You will resign as president of hockey. Because you can't trade him. You're over a barrel. You have to extend it. You know why? Because you were all in on the original move. Yeah, basically for number one picks, you can, I know you can get a bushel load from him. You can't trade him. The signal that sends is a defeat. Well, you can. So you're not willing to take the pledge. Doesn't sound like I'm not taking any pledge with you. Okay. I mean, uh, shout out to that radio host. I don't know his name, but shout out to him. Just straight up getting in the GM of the, uh, the Minnesota wild and being like, you're bent over a barrel, pal. Well, I believe the Minnesota wild are supposed to revoke his credentials now because that was a testy exchange. So apologies to that radio host. That is so good. Everybody, the Titans shouldn't have taken away Jared Stillman's credential. And if you think that they should have, then you're simply wrong. I will have the argument with you, but you can't take away people's credentials because they don't say nice things about your team, especially respectfully when you're at the Tennessee Titans. Okay. Please. Justice. Tell, uh, tell DJ's having a bad show. Get a little heat off me. Um, the, yeah, I mean, the comment from YG is so correct that like every team that has Quinn, he seems to spend too many press conferences talking about how they're going to lose Quinn. Yes. It is. I, I, I gotta think that Bill, Bill Garen is squirming big time and it's not going to stop anytime soon. Danny Quinn says Buffalo Radio hosts think that that was Kevin Weeks. Do is, uh, is Bill Garen, like the most important hockey player or person in like the last decade? Cause like he, like in between what he's done to team USA and what he's doing with the Minnesota wild, he like is controlling the entire league. Like that whole, the whole team USA thing is not necessarily a direct result of like him going into the locker room and being like, you guys should all request trades to American markets. But like it obviously is the, the roster that he put together and it was certain extent. I feel like, uh, to the extent that he can kind of a culture he's set within the upper levels of USA hockey. And then obviously now the most biggest question mark piece, I guess other than Conor McDavid would be Quinn Hughes. No, I'm seeing. I'm seeing your argument. I don't know what the, it's, it's too good a question for me to know the answer right away. Like most important hockey person. I don't know, because like I think it's given Bill Garen too much credit in this situation because like, yeah, he, he went out and made, made the big balls move to go acquire Quinn Hughes, but he's not in control by any means. Well, but, but, and also, I guess what originally had made me think of this thought earlier was what you said about he gave Carl Caprizov a contract that has completely changed the way contract being handed out this off season. So like between all of these little things and also like not to bring all this up, but like the, the phone call that he made or in for nations, I think has kind of said a lot of things in motion with the, the political energy around team USA now, at least the men's side. Like he's, he's had his hands and a lot of things that have had massive changes in the way that have changed the way hockey is now. Yeah. He has made a lot of consequential decisions. If I'm doing a like top 56 under 56 influential hockey people, I had to look up how old Bill Garen is 55 years old. If I'm doing a top 56 under 56, he's very high on there. And like honestly, I'm like, it's him or it's Jacob Tierney. I mean, like those are the two most influential people in hockey right now in that like one has octubpled the audience of hockey and one is a puppet master. Well, I mean, I just think that like Bill Garen is the exact opposite of a general manager as Steve Iserman is because Steve Iserman has a plan to a fault. And it gets him fired. I don't know if Bill Garen has a plan at all. I just think that he, he makes, I mean, like I think that he's, but he's got to like, I know what I'm doing energy. Don't like to worry about it. I think I'm doing just fine. I think that he's like, I will figure it out. And I don't know if he's going to figure it out. But I think I think he believes it. I'll tell you what, he did what I was done though. Like the, well, you don't know if you're going to be able to keep him. You're going to have to prove to him that you're going to keep him sweet. I'm, I'm trading for this guy and see what happens. And I mean, yeah, and I'd rather take that kind of general manager than the Steve Iserman who just like has a plan to a fault and doesn't really do anything and keeps his team solved out for like five years. At least Bill Garen is trying. He's trying some shit. And even though we're talking about something he's not getting done, I trust that he's going to get shit done. I don't trust it. I don't, I do not trust that he's going to get shit done. I think that he will, I think that he will respond to not getting shit done though. Like is what I'm saying? Like if he does not get the Quinn Hughes deal done, I think he's going to trade between Quinn Hughes. Like I know that that is a change from last week when I said you can't trade Quinn Hughes, but I think that he's so reactionary that he might actually just trade Quinn Hughes. Yeah, I mean, I think he's a little immune to public opinion. Like he's not going to like this guy be like, oh, you're bent over. You can't trade that guy now because of the signal at sense. I do not think Bill Garen gives a single flock about the signals his decision sentence. And to be fair, my take last week was that I don't know how many teams are going to be lining up to trade for Quinn Hughes. If he doesn't resign in Minnesota because the presumption will be that he's just going to go to the devils. What would you say is the most consequential trade of the last 18 months in the NHL? The most consequential trade of the last 18 months in the NHL. I don't know. That'd be a little bit a lot of trade Quinn Hughes what Eric Tulsky after doing basically what the wilds did with Quinn Hughes after he did that with Ranton, which is I'm the trade forum. And we'll be able to convince him to stay. Then it got to a point where it's like, shit, it doesn't seem like he's going to stay. Well, what are you going to do? You can't just pull the plug radio host voice and give up on him because that's admitting defeat or whatever. He admitted method man voice defeat and traded Miko Ranton and for a guy that won in the Stanley Cup in Logan, Stan Coveon. So like, not only is there precedent for doing this, there's precedent for a team that isn't the same situation the wild are, which is like they are knocking on the fucking door to do it and be absolutely fine. In fact, come out better than you were before. So I don't think, not that I think that he needed it to have happened before. Not that he needed like the case work on this has already happened. So there's a path to doing this and it working out, but like, it has happened. It has worked out. Bill Garren isn't afraid of shit. I don't think so. And we said it with the rant and think for Tolsky, it's like I do respect taking the swing, even if it doesn't work out and then pivoting from there, like I still think it was a good trade for Minnesota to go out and get Quinn used regardless of your resigns there or not. Like I think it was worth taking that swing, giving yourself an extended window to try to resign him and seeing if it works and seeing if you can convince him, we'll see how it plays out, but it is getting more interesting by the day and more interesting by the Bill Garen interview and he doesn't seem like he's going to keep himself from getting behind microphones. Do you have like a, because I don't know, like it felt like almost inevitable at a certain point that Brady Kitchock was going to end up before to Panther eventually. Do you feel that, like that same way here, like do you think that he is going to end up in New Jersey, double eventually? Until I think that he, I think that he's valuing things more than staying in Minnesota. And I think that he definitely wants to play with Jack and it may not be in, it may not be in New Jersey. Yeah. It's just poor fucking blue cues, man. I feel so bad for that kid sometimes. Why? It's just like. You think about the cues? Respectfully. Well, the cues scanned himself into a massive NFL contract by pretending to be a, a Hughes brother. Yeah. Yes. Well, that I get. Shout out, Dave Jean. But I like, I don't know, it seems to me that the Hughes brothers do not, the money is not the biggest thing for them. So even if he's gotten that contract, I have to imagine that poor kid at times is like, this is the third manning brother, even though this guy's on the league. Luke Hughes is a nepot baby. Yeah, I was going to say, I was going to say like, he is, like, he's still left. So my thing is, I don't want to hear about it at all. I hate Stella lefty takes. I hate videos making fun of Stella lefty. I hate Stella lefty's music. Just everything about Stella lefty. Shut the fuck up. People are like, oh, this person's an industry plant. Any major label artist you've heard of is an industry plant? They're parents are rich. Taylor Swift's parents are rich. They bought their way like, this has happened a million times over and over again. I don't want to hear about Stella lefty. As I talk about Stella lefty. I was going to say, you only want to broader up. But Luke Hughes is the Stella lefty here where it's like, he's been pretty jazzed, he's here. Yeah, he made fun of and dunked on and stuff, but like, Luke Hughes has a song out, you know? He's like playing in the NHL. He gets to get turned down from clubs with other NHL players. Yeah. I'm just like, at a certain point, he's, it, none of that shit matters. Like, he's a human being. At a certain point, he's got to be like, damn, I would like some of that attention. I know he doesn't deserve it. Like, he's obviously not as good of a player as his brothers, but like, it's always, it's always, it's always Quinn and Jack. I mean, he's fucking, I did make the NHL. Yeah, but it'd be like if there were two awesome Yanases where like the, there's that other antitakumbo brother who just like gets to go play on the teams that Yanis is on, where it's like, what's Patrick Mahomes's kid brother to name? Well, he, we don't talk about him, but is he bad? Yeah, I got stuck. Oh, yeah. Oh. Yeah. Like, let's talk about cell after you again, like assaulted a woman. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, so like Luke Hughes is going to find his way into the next situation too, whether it's in New Jersey or whether it's in the world. But that, I guess that's what I'm getting at is like, if the, I feel like the thing that kind of makes the, like Quinn Hughes is going to have to take a pay cut to go to New Jersey because his brother makes so much like because the youngest brother gets paid more than he probably should. And like, I don't know. There's just so much to that where I'm just like, yeah, I'm sure he's probably happy when the chat comes, but like, it can't be fun all the time and I feel bad for that guy. Okay, if you want one of the great what chaos interviews in history, now would be the time to continue watching, listening, whatever it may be because we had on Brett dobsen from the Utah archers, goalie, stud, Canadian, getting ready for the PLL semis and, uh, the conversation's amazing. We'll just give it to you here. All right, let's bring in possibly the best to ever do it. Utah archers, goalie, Brett dobsen, who is again ready for the PLL semifinal on Monday against Denver. That'll be on 3 p.m. Eastern the United States and Canada on ESPN to Brett, uh, when we were getting ready for this, you saw setting up and you saw me put the Utah jersey because you play for Utah and you said, nice, anything but a Bruins jersey, Pete didn't know what the fuck that meant. But now he put a Bruins jersey there. You hate the Bruins? Yeah, I don't really like 'em, you know, growing up a Habs fan, it's tough to like the Leaser of the Bruins. So, uh, you know, I can't fault them for that in my hatred towards them, but I've converted to the mammoth now. That's my team. All right. I mean, of Rocky footing for the start of our relationship, given that I'm a Bruins fan, but I do, I, I've, I've got made fun of on this show quite a bit because I respect the Habs more than, uh, more than a Bruins fan should. Uh, how, how tapped into you or the, I know you said you converted to the Utah, but like, how tapped into you are, are you on, on the Habs at this point? Uh, I won't lie to you, I'm pretty tapped in on it. I mean, I was, uh, growing up, I was a huge carry price fan, so I, you know, I followed the team all the time. I want to, you know, be carry price, but, um, at the end of the day, you know, when they kind of traded them, I kind of stopped paying attention to them a bit more, but when they're in the playoffs, it was fun to watch and, uh, the other one, they kind of went on last year. It was pretty cool to see you. Yeah, I mean, as we, uh, we're, we're, uh, Pete and I, at least, Sean's here as well, and Sean is a lacrosse purist, went to Syracuse whole nine, absolutely loves lacrosse. We just learn more and more about lacrosse over the course of the summer, and obviously learn more about you. And, uh, when I saw the best goalie in the league was a Canadian guy, I was like, we tried to not jump around sports too much, but like, was there any recruitment before the Olympics for like, there's an elite goalie who's Canadian brother, like help us win gold. Yeah, I mean, um, you know, obviously those are kind of words you guys are saying, but, you know, to be fair, the US has had, you know, a longstanding of great goalies and they still do. You know, they have, uh, I think it's five or six time goalie of the year, and blaze reared in in, you know, a couple of young bucks by the name of Liam Entomon and Logan McNeity on the come up. So I think you guys are just fine in the Canadian, or in the American goalie department, but, uh, yeah, I don't know if I could convert that. He's, I do have a green card, but I'm sticking with Mike, my country fellow. Sorry about that. Well, I know he's saying, uh, because Canada's goal tending sucks in, yeah, that was an insult to, uh, Canada, unfortunately, even though I'm the most Canadian on this show, that was a shot at the goal tending of Canada, although famously, Canada didn't lose because of goal tending in the Olympics. They lost because they didn't put Evan Bouchard on the roster, which we all know. But, uh, also very Canadian of you to like, not accept the compliment that you are the best Canadian goal tender. Yeah. I appreciate it. Uh, as DJ said, we've kind of been getting into lacrosse this summer. The biggest thing that I've, like, had to get past as, uh, as getting into lacrosse is why anybody would play fucking goalie in lacrosse. It seems so hard and it seems so, I don't know if like dangerous as the right way, yeah, it seems so scary. How did you get into that? And like, how do you become a good lacrosse goal tender? Yeah. So I, uh, I actually started off by being a, a player like a runner. So in Canada, you know, you, you kind of play box across more so, um, so one day my, my goalie had each stroke and my dad was the coach and I was, uh, you know, kind of, you know, the next guy in line, my dad was like, hey, you're going to net. We need someone to go. So I hopped in there, kind of loved it, um, and eventually I made it, I ended up making the switch to full-time goalie when I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Um, so once the guys start playing it more and more, start appreciating it and, um, I'm not going to lie to you guys. I'm kind of lazy. I don't like to run that much. So I decided to stick it out in that and I was like, you know, this isn't half bad. So, um, but I, I think it's a lot of practice. Obviously, there's not a lot of pads that you wear. You just wear kind of like a chest protector or a cup and you got your gloves and your, your cleats and you're on your way, um, with your stick. But, um, yeah, it's not easy. Covering a six by six is, uh, it's hard to do and, um, these guys can truth the ball, you know, close to a hundred if not harder than a hundred miles per hour anywhere they want. And, uh, definitely makes me, uh, question what I'm doing sometimes for work. I mean, I, I do respect that you would rather get absolutely sheld by like hard rubber at a hundred miles an hour than run it all. Like that speaks to me. What is, what does your body look like after like a bad day at the office because, uh, you mentioned the lack of padding. It has to be, uh, produce some ugly results at, at points. Yeah. I had a good one, uh, last summer I got hit in like the hamstring with like a shot and it was just black. There's like a big, nice circle ball mark on the hamstrings, like red and just black all the way down it. And, uh, you know, that was probably the worst one I've gotten it all on time. But, you know, if you, if you just make the save or your stick, it doesn't hurt that much. So I tried my best to do that, but, uh, I've had a few of those, anyone, anything like the calf or the arm slash hamstring area kind of hurts the most. So I try to avoid those spots if I can. But you're definitely not, I mean, no, I know you're kind of playing it down. It's just like, hey, it's just the position or whatever. And you know, sometimes take some bumps and bruises, but like, you got some to, to make it hockey again. Like you got some Tim Thomas to you. Like that dude landed in your crease this season and Tim Thomas in sued and it's, I don't want to say like, you're looking to give it back. But as someone in there, there was like a huge scrap where someone landed in your crease. You get back like, and, uh, just chaos ensued, uh, as a goalie, do you, are you like, is there some, um, let me see, is that like therapeutic in any way, or it's like, finally, I can just like destroy these fuckers? No, I, uh, I don't know, it's a little bit of a combination of, uh, the boys are coming out kind of fly. that guy landed on my knee and the way he landed on it and that kind of wanted a set of message to, "Hey, don't come in here." God, now I got him a little high, probably shouldn't have got him in the neck area, but that's baseball, right? It's part of the game and it happens. And after that, I think the wires just crossed and it was full chaos after that. But I felt bad for the second guy. He's one of my buddies, he stayed in my place a few times and he was trying to de-escalate the situation. He kind of got the rough end of the stick on that one. - That's always the person who gets it worse, who gets it worse. The person who is like, "Now, now, now, I think we can all agree." And then someone comes in and just absolutely smokes them too. - Yeah, exactly. You got caught in the crossfire and I didn't realize it till it's too late. But it is what it is. I'd have paid pretty penny for that scuffle. Well, that's okay. - Oh, they dinged you? - Yeah, I got fine nicely for that. That's all right. - Did they, not to pocket watch, but like we're a big Dejon love podcast. I don't know if you know who that is. That's the scammer. We saw a thing on cameo. Do you see this cameo thing? - His cameo press $5,000. - He said I am willing to do it for as low as $5,000, which is now just gonna be my thing for anything. If I'm talking to, if like someone says, "Hey, can you run out and get something from the grocery store?" I'm willing to do that for as low as $5,000. Was that over or under the Dejon love cameo, quote. - It was under, but that guy has taken over social media. I think that guy's so funny on social media and how people even believe these are not a fault players. It's crazy to me and honestly, I kind of love and I love the reaction the world's given up to. It's unbelievable. - I mean, the craziest thing, and I saw, I think Tyree's Halliburton tweeted this, was like, "This guy's digital footprint is insane. I have not seen the same video of him twice." - Yes. - That's the craziest thing is that you log on every single day and there is a new video of Dejon love and each one is crazier than the last. You know the thing on Twitter where you see something and you're like, "Oh, that's kind of interesting and then it refreshes and it goes away." And you're like, "Oh, no. That keeps happening to me with Dejon love videos. I'll see you, there's a new Dejon love video and I'll go to hit it and it will refresh." And I'll be like, "Fuck, and it will refresh to a different new Dejon love video that I haven't seen." The algorithm literally cannot keep up with it, which raises another thing that someone he brought up. What phone does this guy have? As someone who's dealing with storage issues on his phone currently? This guy has like 300 two minute long videos of himself. - No, he's not, he's not storing those on his phone. He's sending them to people. - That's true. - So he's probably recording them natively in Instagram. - Somebody else's problem. - Yeah, exactly. - Yeah, anyone doing that in PLL? - No, not yeah, we're not there at all, though. I feel like we got a bunch of guys that you could probably say you could pass as you're a pro lacrosse, but maybe if they were, they're halloween and trained down in the park and might go a long way if they had like an R2's hominon, especially on Utah. But not like even to that point though, my timeline's been all over it. It's been hilarious to see, you know, the 49ers fans even react to like this guy's gonna be playing by week three for us with all the injuries we have. And I've just seen all the fancy line of stuff has been pretty funny. - Yeah, well the sad thing is now, and I don't know if it's sad or what. I mean, unfortunately, if anybody gets scared or anybody loses money, whether or not you say how did you fall for this? Like it's still sucks if somebody loses their money, but like if he did get on cameo and he if he was like, hey, like I will zoom with people for an hour for like $500. There's going to be a line around the block because I have so many questions for that man and so many people do. Like this is, there is a fire fest element to this. - Yeah, big time. I mean, he's going to be the most popular person in media if he like gets out of jail. - I mean, he owns, he's the majority shareholder of a Gucci store on Saks Fifth Avenue. - Yeah. - That was my favorite lie of his. He said that he owned, he said he was the majority shareholder of a store on a store. Saks Fifth Avenue is a department store. That is not a, Fifth Avenue is where that is located. - That's the best. - Yeah, it positively rolls. As does your season, man, like do you, I know that is this correct? You would be the first Canadian to win Goli of the Year in PLL if you were to? - Yeah, that's correct. Yeah, I don't think it's been done before and it'd be a pretty cool honor to have. And, you know, a guy I grew up watching by the name of Dylan Ward plays for the Redwoods. He's a big mentor of mine. And, you know, if that were to be the case, I don't know if I'm a big thank you for always being great to me and teaching me a few tricks along the way. But, yeah, I mean, obviously winning Goli of the Year would be great, but I'd rather win our third championship. I think that, you know, no one has done that yet. And the PLL has won three championships. So we're chasing some mystery here as well. Who's the team? - And you are. I mean, I typically think that like, hey, like break down the upcoming game thing is a little dorky for what we do. But for people, say anybody watches this interview and they're like, I like the stops and character. Like the cut of his jib, he gets stage on love like the rest of us. Finally, an athlete I can relate to. I'm gonna tune in Monday, 3 PM Eastern on ESPN2 to see them take on Denver. What are they gonna see if they're watching like a big PLL game for the first time? - Yeah, hopefully, you know, no love lost. You know, they called the Rocky Mountain rivalry out here, Denver versus Utah. And, you know, I hope that they see a lot of saves on the back end from the archers. And, you know, one of the biggest things I think is gonna pop off of them is how electric and loud the crowd is out in Utah. You know, they are very passionate about the cross here. They show up and support. And it's one of the more cooler venues we get to play at in the cross. You know, it's got the mountain backdrop behind it. And, you know, once you kind of get that like dusk lighting, you know, you get to see a really cool environment. And I'm really excited. And I think, you know, play off the cross is unmatched. It's like play off hockey, right? It's competitive, guys are passionate and they're leaving it all in the line. So hopefully they can appreciate that as well. - What's your experience been like being a hockey fan in Utah, 'cause it's still pretty new, but we went out there year one and like it had a good amount of buzz and like that team is only getting better. So what's been your experience like with the mammoth? - Oh, it's been unbelievable, man. Have you, I mean, did you guys get a chance to see the praxis of the belt here? - No, I guess we were a little early. We were there like early, like, do we go first? - It was the first year, yeah, first year, yeah. It was the day that they finally were able to sell Utah hockey club jerseys. And even that was like real like, this is the longest line for anything we've ever seen. People were lined up like first thing in the morning and we'd gone to a game and it was like a close game where they had to kill off a million penalties in the third period and we were just looking around and we were like, yo, this crowd fucking gets it. Like you could say, like, oh, well, there hasn't been NHL here before so they're gonna, it's gonna be a Mickey Mouse thing where they're not even close. I will go to a million Utah games. - Yeah, we haven't seen the new Delta Center or like the Delta Center upgrades. We haven't seen the praxis facility, but like I've seen videos and stuff. It looks crazy. - Yeah, you guys gotta come back here and watch the game. Like I gotta go to the home opener last year. And I think it was like their second or third game after that I was sitting on the glass watching the sharks play. And like it was, you know, obviously regular season game, but like it was unbelievable. And then, you know, flip that all the way around. I gotta go to game three or game four. I can't remember where the playoffs against the Knights and that was a whole different atmosphere. How much passion the fans had, how on the edge of their seat they were. And it's only year two, you know, so I think, you know, it's only gonna get better from there. And you see the off season moves they made. Like they're bringing in big names. And I mean, they have one of the best prospect pools too. And the NHL saw them excited to see what the future of the mammoth looks like. And, you know, I have a lot of fun going on those games and watching them compete. - I mean, there's a ton of lacrosse hockey crossover and like shared love. Do you have, do you have any buddies who are on the team or like any other guys on your team that you talk about hockey with? - Yeah, so I mean, you know, Michael Cardconi on the mammoth number 53, he's from the same town. I'm from back home. But, you know, both his kids play the cross. So I've been able to help coaches kids up. And he's been awesome. You know, I just moved out the Salt Lake City recently. So he's taken good care of me on the golf course. I had the opportunity to play golf with him and he and Cole one time and that was pretty cool. You know, for completely forgot that he and Cole was a two time cup winner. So that was awesome. And, you know, we obviously, you know, there's an old saying a lot of lacrosse guys that played pro guys that just couldn't skate that well in hockey. So there's a lot of good crossover from guys that played hockey that are now pro lacrosse players and vice versa. You know, there's guys that were good lacrosse players that are great hockey players now too. They're playing in the national. - We're a huge, especially Pete. We're a huge E and Cole show. We do a thing where we look at, this is a little glimpse into how cool our show is. During the season, we'll look at the matchups for each night and we'll think of teams that have had a player play for each team. And you just get to say E and Cole for every match. - That's right. - You'd be like, oh, he's played for, oh, this one's an E and Cole bowl and Pete's been trying to outlaw E and Cole bowls because it's too low hanging of fruit. But yeah, man, like I'm sad that Dursy's gone, but that roster, I still, like even last season that team, I'm like, you know how less annoying and less frantic social media would have been in spring? If the fucking mammoth could have just beaten the Golden Knights in the first round, which it looked like they were hanging with them. And yeah, man, things could have been a lot smoother and a lot more relaxing. - We all wish. - Yeah, and like people, we would just would have been happy watching hockey instead of constantly yelling at each other. but I guess the worst. that sometimes. Sean, not to put you on the spot. You you got anything? Uh, not really. I mean, I know you also, you mentioned, uh, box and also a big thing for us with with hockey was four nations and they announced like the the four nations kind of, uh, version of the cross. Uh, just like, obviously being, despite you might not want to do a minute, like the best Canadian goalie, uh, you have that coming up, you have the Olympics coming up, like I'm just wondering, uh, kind of like what the international side of across is, is like, and if you look forward to potentially being part of those tournaments. Yeah, you know, I, uh, I can't compare, I will be a part of the four nations version of the cross for, you know, for Canada. So I'm really pumped about that. And, um, I honestly, it's a really cool time to be a part of the sport, you know, of it kind of being the Olympics are less than two years away now or just around two years. I think, uh, you know, it's the pinnacle of the sport and, you know, we've put a lot of effort and time into having the sport be in the Olympics. So, um, to be able to go out there and, you know, hopefully represent Canada and that's huge. But I think the whole four nations thing is going to be awesome. Hopefully they, uh, they let me rip off a couple more buckets so get some more people involved and engaged in it and, uh, you know, we can get that Canada USA rivalry bumping again. I know, uh, if I get a chance to rip that cabin, I was home and off. He's going to be the first guy that gets his bucket ripped off. That's for sure. Uh, are you feeling any extra pressure to give Canada a national sport now that the United States has taken hockey? Well, famously isn't lacrosse famously the national sport. All right, the summer national hockey is the winter national sport. So, uh, you know, you lose, you lose one Olympics and now it's the USA's game. I hope you guys make another movie about it because that was, uh, that was something. That's so good. That is a good chair if I can't even lie. I mean, they are two Olympics. We count men's and women's as one each. So it's like we've won two Olympics in a row. Yeah. I mean, I also like make another movie about it. Please, please don't make another movie about it. Big stuff. Oh Christ. Yeah. Yeah. We got to enjoy the gold matter for like one day. We're not even like 12 hours. Is anybody like the discourse? Some actor, some like actors really been trying to break into the business going to get offered the role of cash Patel and they're like, I can't, uh, I can't do this. I, this is a real, this is some visibility, but this is the worst kind of visibility. And then at the end, the credits would be like, uh, and so and so as the voice of Donald's Trump because they would, they would show them they would do like the air thing with Michael Jordan. It would just be his voice on the phone. Yeah. Everyone would want like the, I don't want to name names, but like if you watch the video, you know, like, uh, certain star players who are just like in the room when that's happening and they're like, Jesus. Let's go back to jumping up and down and celebrating. Oh, we're going to hockey, please. Yeah. Uh, I mean, this is a good movie idea. Honestly. You probably get a story by, at the very least, we'd like to be executive producers, but I mean, you came up with the idea for it. So, uh, you, you are now the Josh Allen of lacrosse in that because you just started a production company. Uh, you, you're going to get into filmmaking now. That's awesome. You know, I, if that's the case and so be it, I'm pumped about it. Josh Allen's a pretty good football player to go build. Oh, are you building? Oh, hell yeah. You don't go to school enough, State New York. I really watch much football. So I converted quickly to be in a Villes fan and it's been a great choice. Amazing. I, the, the last like four minutes of whatever that talking about movie shit was, is like the best thing we've ever done on this show. So I know that it started facetiously, but I'm very excited to continue brainstorming what that movie would look like. Nobody's going to go to see it. But, uh, you know, you got to start somewhere. Uh, Brett, you are the best man. This was so cool. You are welcome back anytime, but I know you're a busy man and everybody can watch you take on Denver 3 PM Eastern on Monday on ESPN 2. We are all archers down here. So good luck, buddy. Appreciate fellas and hopefully the archers and come on top out on top this weekend. Thanks for having me. That's our friend. That is our friend. What a legend. Amazing. Yeah. That was fucking awesome. That is your. That's straight up your guy through and through Western New Yorker, St. Bonavetra. I was also reading earlier. He, when he went pro, he had the opportunity, because St. Bonavetra is not a big program. Uh, he had the opportunity to go to one of the big dogs Duke or Syracuse chose to go to, um, chose to go pro in the article, I was reading. He said, uh, not a big school guy. So I figured, I might as well go pro. All right. I appreciate the honesty. Not here to play school. You know, I hear to play school. RIP cartel Jones. Um, but yeah, I, uh, I was talking to that. I can't believe I'll crossplay as the first person I ever heard use the, uh, the make a movie about it. That's so good. I'm, I'm like, well, I don't want to say, I'm mad that the USA won. There were some points over the last two or many months where I was like, I, I wish maybe none of this happened. I wish maybe just one part of that. Just where they won. But, uh, if it means come on with the rest of this shit, boy, do I have a headache right now? But, uh, that was the first point where I was like, damn, I wish that I could have a line for anything as good as, oh, maybe you can make another movie. Make a movie about it. You ridiculous country. Very, very good. Also, I don't know if anyone noticed, uh, during the, when they brought up, uh, when Charlotte and Madeline brought up LeBron's been having a weird few years. Yeah. As a LeBron guy, I gave it the, that's, that's my favorite. Also, Sean, I was going to ask. Yeah, I mixed up one it out. Cardo Jones is not dead. I mixed up Ohio State quarterbacks. Who's the, the, the one that died in the car accident a few years ago? The Steelers first-round pick. Maybe, um, let's see. Oh, hi, I don't like doing. Do we in Haskins? Do we in Haskins? Yeah. Yeah. RIP that, man. Cardo Jones was the, the, I didn't come here to play school. And then he went back and got us to agree. And he was like, I shouldn't have said that. I'm, I've, I've matured. Shut up. The most, uh, upsetting speaking of that we have now is, I know that we've been razzin Pete throughout the show. Pete deserves a lot of credit because he has been playing hurt today in, I'm serious, like, the worst way you can be playing hurt Pete, I'll let you share the news. Yeah, I had to put my dog down yesterday. One of my dogs had to put one of them down yesterday. It was a very unexpected, uh, my dog's summer had a stroke yesterday and collapsed and had to, uh, bring her to the vet. And they found out that she had a pretty aggressive form of cancer, they think. And so it was just, she's 10 years old and, uh, she was just like the best dog ever. And I know that everybody who has a dog says that their dog is the best dog ever. Um, and I know people say, like when you have a pet, it's more than just a pet. It's a family member. And I've had dogs my whole life. And that has never been more true than with summer. Um, and like a big, big part of the reason why it hurt so bad and it sucks so bad and why she felt like family is because for the first half of summer's life, she was my mom's dog. And, uh, then my mom suddenly passed away and I took summer. And like, I truly believe that like summer had a lot of the same qualities as my mom. Like she's very, she was very loud. Had a ton of personality was pretty crazy, but hilarious and also was like extremely tender and sweet and just like such a nice kind dog with so much personality. Um, and getting to have her after my mom passed felt like a kind of like a continuation of my mom's life. And I felt a lot of sorry. Uh, I felt a lot of pride and, um, like healing and being able to, to have her after my mom died. And like she just became such a big part of like my daily life and Ellen's daily life and my sister's daily life. And so, um, yeah, she was just the best man and I, I'd be so, so lucky to have any, any dog in the future as, as good as summer. So, um, yeah, I, I want to write something at some point just to kind of get my feelings more straight and it's like very cathartic for me to be able to write after stuff like that. But yeah, it was a tough day. And, um, I loved her and, and was really, really lucky to have her. Love you. Obviously, love you, loved summer. Just a really good A to B dog, meaning that girl was fast, but also a very good like chill like on the couch with. Oh, yeah. I mean, like, so I mean, like after my mom died, like, I really did feel like we kind of like bonded together in grief and like I could tell that, you know, my, that summer was missing my mom and I was missing my mom and I barely left the house for like months after my mom died. And, You know, you know, it was just like a bad time before my mom died. I was like going through a lot of shit and just like completely lost and then my mom died. And so it was just like having her there and being able to like bond and share that connection. I've never had a dog where I feel like I looked in her eyes and like was seen. And I don't know, it was just, there was just like a lot of kind of healing and being able to grieve alongside her and just feel like I could take care of her and she could take care of me and kind of be better on the other side because of it. So yeah, I hate how often I have seen you suffer terrible loss. I mean, when we did our old podcast, one of the first episodes that we did, your dog was at Nala, Nala died and that was horrible. And then you got summer and like obviously, we used to do this show at Pete's mom's house. So every time I would get there, I'd open the door, get bold over by summer. Pete's mom would then yell at summer. And I was like, no, it's fine. I love when dogs run at me. And it was just like this wonderful. And then like if Alan was over, Alan would come out and she'd be like the only person not yelling. She'd be like, hi. And it was just like this amazing symphony of all these personalities. And then like, Pete was all so there, which was like the reason I was there. It was the just, it was always such a, it was the same party every time. But it was like just this, it's this very unique party. And I like, you they say there's nothing worse than losing a dog or a pet or whatever. And I hate that in your case, like every time you've suffered this loss, it's just like always the biggest thing that it can be. So my heart absolutely breaks that in, I mean, I know that years have gone by and everything, but it does feel like still feels like such a short time that we've known each other and that you've gotten your ass kicked and been tested in so many enormous ways. But like there is always the like summer was there or like Ellen's there for you or whoever, like your sister Devin, whatever it may be. And like in this case, I'm just like those two are yelling at each other right now. And not that like that your mom in summer's relationship was just like, someone was running around crashing and everything and she was trying to keep summer calm. Those two definitely spoke the same language. Like you said, they were like very like your mom was very direct. They were perfect for one. Yeah, like they were perfect. But also like you were showing me videos of I know the exact ball that summer had. And your mom just playing fetch with summer and baby Devin being like Devin is Pete's nephew. Like what the fuck is this now? I don't know what that thing is. I think I understand what the ball is. I know who you are, but this shit is blowing my mind. Like they're she's playing fetch with her right now, whatever you believe in, wherever they go afterwards. Like they're they're they're doing it. Yeah. Yeah. That was like one of the first thoughts that like gave me a little bit of like peace yesterday. It was just like reunited and yeah, it was just it was just a tough day for for me and the fam. She's such such a good dog. I know that everybody that that's what a weird thing about it though. Like as soon as they show the picture, everyone's like never met this dog. I got it. I know what you're talking about. I am wrecked by this. I mean anytime a dog sucks. I mean anytime a dog dies, it sucks. But anytime a dog sucks, it dies. Pete is very not until you're married dogs. Okay. Anytime a dog dies, it sucks. But like truly if you met summer, everybody that met summer loves summer and yeah, and she was just such a good dog and had such a big personality. Like I've had good dogs in the past. Nala was such a good dog. But we were talking about yesterday. Like Nala was also like just like two like so good to the point where it was boring and meet some scars. Yeah. Like summer kept every day interesting and did some fucking truly weird and wild shit that kept you on your toes. And they're just like it's one of those things that it's like it's gonna hurt for longer because I'm gonna miss like the some individual things that were just part of my day with like the weird shit that she would do like every three o'clock every three o'clock in the afternoon when Alan worked from home summer would jump up on the couch sit directly next to her and just breathe hot air directly in her face until she threw the ball. So like I know at three o'clock today, Alan's gonna have like the worst hour of her year. And so like that that kind of stuff is gonna happen for a little while and so yeah just happy to have that stuff happy to have the memories and anytime you like anytime you have a dog that great you just kind of think about for you know even though she was 10 and hadn't slowed down for the past couple of years like the last year and a half was really really tough in terms of like realizing the impermanence of things and knowing that like we were coming to the end of summer's life that stuff was really hard to like imagine going away and now we're here and and that sucks. Yeah what a girl what a girl everybody pet your dog hug your cat just send any friend a nice text message whatever because god damn you have these I mean I fortunately and I hate that it's like bad news well here's the silver lining like it's bad news and it's terrible I was very relieved because you texted me yesterday we were we had plans and you were like oh something's up with summer gonna take her to the hospital and then you told me what was going down and you said that Ellen and your sister were there and I was like yeah thank fucking god if he were there by himself I could not imagine but love you love your family love every dog that I've ever met as a result of you I look every person's different I didn't expect you to do the show today thank you for doing it and maybe it's like you you wanted to something to occupy your mind but you are a stud for doing this because we know how much you care about that dog and your family so to be able to come in and hang out with us for a couple of hours and talk about god knows what when you're going through that you're a fucking superhero man yeah I hope chat feels terrible for telling me I had a bad show yeah I was gonna say chat was like oh no no as chat was roasting you I was like oh it's gonna feel good I just kind of feel good hey Pete I intentionally had a bad show this so that I could make you feel terrible right now and I hope it worked yep Pete orchestrated the whole Carolina hurricanes that's saying so people could get mad at him for saying everybody stop yelling at each other online what we got some breaking news Robert Thomas name captain of the blues how things can change how things can change wow that somebody's turned around oh yeah yeah everyone thought he was going to get traded I was like what what's new is it that the blues are interesting what Robert Thomas decided he wanted to stick around I don't think was Robert Thomas ever the guy who was like get me out of here no but people were saying trade for Robert Thomas I remember people were like influenced to trade for Robert Thomas well the blues were like we're listening on Robert Thomas yes yeah if that makes me feel good about today's sports interaction um brought you by sports interactions sports we can casino every game is your game when you buy what sports interaction but the action on every period every shift every shot with Canada's homegrown sports books sports interaction Ontario or Alberta only must be 19 plus in Ontario or 18 plus in Alberta please play responsibly we talked a lot of Utah mammoth today because of Utah archers goalie Brett Dobson we talked a lot of Colorado avalanche because of the Cal Macar contract we've talked a lot of uh Winnipeg jets because of Connor hella buck do you see we talked a lot of predators because of the Luke of Angelisa trade we mentioned the Bowen Byrim contract do you see where I'm going with this Pete no okay uh central division all these are central division teams so I figured why not look at futures for the central division uh and I hope I remembered the divisions correctly I'm going to be really embarrassed if people are like oh the mammoth are in the Pacific uh no I know I divisions yeah okay please I don't think I need you don't need to worry about me as far as that's concerned uh central division winner odds per sports interaction Colorado avalanche plus 125 Minnesota wild plus 310 Dallas stars plus 400 Utah mammoth plus 750 Winnipeg jets plus 3000 Nashville predators plus 3500 and the Chicago Blackhawks Bowen Byrim and all plus 6,000 that's what do we like I feel bad for the Blackhawks man what do we like just like the predators just traded a guy for draft picks like a week before the sea season is starting like a top six guy week for the season starting and they've still got like twice as good as odds the black ox to do anything this year. I'll tell you what like no, I was like for fun, no, no, like a crisp $5 bill on the black ox at plus the $6,000, I can get a car with that was money, that's $5 donation to sports interaction. The problem is if, if I put $5,000 or whatever or $5 on the black ox at plus $6,000 and then one up a $1,000,000, that would mean that they were the, they won their division and are in the playoffs and I'd be like, all right, letting it ride on the black ox in the first round against the lowly wild card Minnesota wild and then they, you lose it no matter what. I don't know, I would just say any non avalanche team. Yeah, they got no centers, but that can be fixed. That can be fixed pretty early on in the season. And you can have no centers in the regular season. Sorry, they have Joel Erickson, so like they got a center, but like they need center depth. The center depth thing isn't as big a problem in the regular season. That's, that's what makes you not win in the playoffs, but they have goals. Yeah, yeah, I feel like we talked about this few weeks ago, like that, the wild and stars, like almost won that division. I wasn't like they were getting, isn't it? Like the, the abs and fucking completely run away with the vision. The three of them are in the Alain tree signed Bracula and like the average should be heading into this season, being like, fuck the regular season. We just dominated almost wire to wire this past year. And what good did that do us? So like they might, they might just kind of mail it in a little bit during the regular season. Please, please maybe lean somewhere else. Can I say it by the way that I called like the avalanche not happening last year? Not that I was like, I'm out on these guys, but I was like, I'm not separating them from everybody else the way that everybody's crowning them. Yes, we don't crown them. We want to crown them. Crown your ass. Do it on your own podcast. I did see someone say famously this podcast prides itself on division. So of course, we knew the division. No love for the spectrum. Nice. Renee says the Dodgers hosted Kings night last night. They lost 13 to eight Mary on brand. Go Kings. Go territory. That's not a very on brand because they scored eight runs. Like if it was very on brand, they would have lost like two to nothing. Yeah. But Matt Zuckarello threw out the first pitch and that reminded me that the King sign Matt Zuckarello. I feel bad. I saw they were like they showed the first pitch on Instagram and maybe he doesn't have an Instagram or whatever. So he wasn't tagged. And I was like, who that? You know what? You know what? We didn't mention it all was cranky buying the angels. This means that Nathan McKinnon's going to have to go to an angel's game now. Oh, yeah. They got sent to the Rams game and the real stories. They're going to be, well, I guess that would require them to make the playoffs. Yeah, they're just going to have to wear angel's jerseys. But they have to wear like Nathan McKinnon's going to throw out a first pitch at an angel's game at some point. I did see. I was part of the McCart contract. People said like Mike Trout saw division. Sure. Emma Haven says at one of my fee jobs, three jobs, humble brag. I guy came in with a black ox hat. I told him I hope Conor Bedard heels. This white man was so confused. I asked him about a sat and he said, oh, I just thought it looked cool. So that's a weird one because that's one of the thing that that's a logo that you need to do research to find out it's not racist. So like at first blush, that looks like it could be a little iffy and then you do some research and you're like just taking some chance. Not racist. We're good. If someone's buying that on an I thought it looked cool. Yeah, my guess is that it was a white man who doesn't know who Conor Bedard is. No, some division. Devedar, you may all now call me Mrs. Devedar because this bitch is getting married on Saturday. Some well, that means that we may all not now call you Mrs. Devedar because you're getting married on Saturday, right? I would never call a married woman. Nice. Someone call that Etzi Wich to keep the PNW rein away. Please. Here's a tip. Beria Sausage because that's what we did before our wedding. There was supposed to be rein in the forecast and there is apparently some sort of weird tradition. I don't know if it's an Irish tradition or something. If you just like Beria Sausage in the dirt, it keeps the rein away. Alan Beria Sausage in a planter outside of a hotel in Providence, Rhode Island, and we got no fucking rain. Perfect weather. Look, what you two were doing at your wedding on your wedding night. I don't want to hear if you want to play Beria the Sausage. We, we, man and wife, literally buried a Sausage. So go ahead and do that if you're worried about rain. Masha says your take on the NHL/prime video agreement. As somebody who has worked with Amazon Prime and Prime Video, shout out. Sean, I mean, I'll hate women, but not because the man is the can man. Equal opportunity for hands when it comes to Sean. Yeah, I hate women, but their gender has nothing to do with it. Okay, Sean's the can man. Anyone can get it. And I mean, DJs hates his girlfriend more than me. I'm just kidding. You hate my girlfriend? No. I was saying you were the one Julia constantly catches the the the flag. I don't know what you're talking about. Okay. You have a loving relationship. He doesn't hate women. He hates woman. Yes. One woman forever and ever ain't done. Okay. Camus says Dolphin's dead cap 182 million. Macar contract 160. Shout out, shout out. You know, it's largely responsible for that. Is it two? Is that two? Well, no, it's not, that's not what I meant. It's fucking Mike. There's brother, the guy that handed a big contract to to Solid Breeney. It's a it's a career. Yeah. Sorry for saying that you hate your girlfriend. No, no, no, no, no, please. No, the like, I was calling Julia's only place in this show. And it's not to say that she can only have one place in the show with a guy on what we, we, we, we, we, it's easy now. We'll mention our families and stuff in stories or whatever, but I think that we're not generally like, hey, here's a 10 minute thing about what about whatever. And you're like, I don't know these people who are, like, we try to keep it about this silly world we've created. The extension to Julia in the show is a person has to put up with me. That's all that you yell at her for not telling you an old age story. Yes. Yeah. Not to like, explain the joke, but it could be argued Julia did nothing wrong with the batting cage. I felt I've had a bad enough episode. I felt the need to explain the clunky joke and a Reeves send what chaos in sports gossip to an NHL game fund. Thank you very much. Well, that will happen. Yes. Our bar that is battalion and Bill Garen is the gym nil of Steve Eiserman's and a Reeves has happy birthday. Rachel Reed, who had a wapper of a heated rivalry night at Fenway Park this week, had boots on the ground there said it was an amazing time. Yeah. Did I tell you that two of my friends went to like married straight men were having like a bros night and they went to the red socks game did not know that it was heated rivalry night. And I was like, that fucking rules. They texted me. They were like, you got to be livid right now. We just like on a whim were like, hey, let's hit the red socks game socks are hot and we did heated rivalry night without DJ non. Yeah. O shark fan. I hate Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea, the Chelsea blues are fucking free of that. I don't even know. I don't know. I was going to call them something. I don't know what. But that guy. I'm glad he sucks. That guy fucking sucks. And I'm so glad he's off my team. Fuck the Argentinian team. It's not for messy. Renee, while he's not on the Argentinian team anymore, he retired from international competition. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. So Renee says, please disregard disregard my last super cat. I love you. I don't know if that's like a cat's better than. Yeah, the man lost the pet, please. Emma Haven says for treats for the other babies. Pete, thank you. Appreciate it. Like that. Stephanie says, so sorry for your lost Pete Big hugs through the internet for you. Very much appreciate it. Juley Gagnon? Yes. Also, by the way, incredible today in brunch history, Juley, with the Katie Nolan clip. Yes. Men wearing here. Women wearing men talking to women wearing headphones. One of my favorite fucking ones. Brunch episode, emails from heaven has getting naming summer talk if anyone wants to check it out. Holy shit. Oh, amazing. That was a big episode, emails from heaven. Yeah, we were young. We weren't woke yet. So I think that episode we were like, it's, so you're going to call the dog summer, even though that's the bad guy in that movie. Oh, no, I, no, we were, was this pre or post my like, asshole scoreboard for 500 days of summer? I don't know, but we had discussed on this show that like, obviously, and now it's like understood, but we're people figuring things out where I like, it's all Tom's fault in 100, 500 days of summer, right? And then Pete put together Pete, like, watched it, went through everything and was like, who are the biggest assholes in 500 days of summer? It was a great little piece. I'm Buck, I'm Buck, Pucker, inherited pets club. I inherited my mom's cat and she also reminds me of my mom so, so much, such complicated and tough feelings, big love to Pete. Thank you very much. I'm glad that somebody sees, sees me when I say that. Oh, you know what, you're like bear from obsession in a way. Karen McGraw for Pete waiting until the end to drop the summer news, getting to drop a dead dad bomb on people and they've been being annoying about parents is one of the sickest joys I have, but also love to Pete. Thank you. Yes, I have a, I have a friend who just like lives for the dead dad jokes and just being able to make every situation uncomfortable. Matt, friend or foe, you have Anders Lee days to buy Pete a new chair before the season start. Tick, talk motherfuckers. Uh, that's, we've got a big Anders lead. I was going to say, I think the conversation was off the show that was off the show. Yeah. Brett Brett was talking us about. Oh, right. I thought it was on the show. Yeah. C 35, goalie goal. I love that name. Long time, Lurker, first time super chatter. I went through a rough breakup this summer and I wanted to thank you all for helping me through it by talking silly about hockey. Sorry for your tough times. Glad that we were able to help. And thank you for tuning in. Thank you for listening to the show. Yeah. Wow. Chat saying DJ. It's a band thing. The bear thing. Oh, no, no. Pete wants that sort of thing. Yeah. I make confidently say like Pete wants the bear was the good guy. Let's round it out with one more bad take. No, once Pete said, if you're on record saying that summer wasn't the bad guy in 500 days of summer. And then you said bear was the good guy. You're not even. Yeah. Fair. Yeah. I mean, summer was not the bad guy in 500 days of summer. No, by summer wasn't the bad guy. She was obviously the bad guy, by the way. We're not joking about that. I know that there's the thing of the internet thinks that the movie obsession actually happened. We stand against bear, the fictional character. John don't laugh. That's not funny. Summer was the bad. Summer was the good guy because she was straight up transparent with what you wanted out of a relationship the entire stage of the way. And Tom didn't get that it could be like that. Yeah. Like really? He didn't know about as someone who in the past before they found love could have been labeled as a avoidant whatever. That just is factual. Like some people are like that. They're not good or they're not bad for it. Summer, I think it was just that summer was such a catch for Tom. And it was just so charming. That's what I'm like just because she likes all the same dumb crap as you do, doesn't that you make your soul mate? You get to share your your impermanent time together. Yeah. And have a great time sharing life together for a certain stage. Just enjoy it. Try not to fix her and change your mind. That's kind of why I don't believe in like the one that got away or whatever. Not to say that like if something didn't work out or if it ended, it was supposed to and that's it or whatever. But like, you I think you just don't know until you have found somebody who like is actually like, oh, like this person is like a part of my life and not a part of my life and that like part of my day as I see them or whatever, but like they actually enter your life until you've like once you've found that there's no comparing anything like all the other people can be compared to each other. But it ends there because there isn't the like, oh, this person is my life kind of thing. So he, Tom didn't get that out of summer. So hopefully with with who do you mean autumn? Yes. Hopefully with autumn, he can experience that and everything. But like my guy summer was a candy bar for you. Yeah. There was no protein in that. No. All right. So shut out Tom. Tom died, by the way. He dies. The end of the movie. Yeah. It was tough. He's kind of like bare from obsession. I love this. Spoilers. I love it, Sean. Have you seen 500 days of summer? No. But like, I just, I love and I promise you and like this is not the regulatory at all. But I love that it's like we got to get out here out of here by two. And instead, it's like, how about five minutes on a movie that like 50% of the audience has no idea what we're talking about. Oh, yeah, don't serve. 50% of our audience has not seen 500 days of summer. That is on 50% of our audience because I mean, I literally don't never even heard of it. Are you serious? Yeah. I don't know what you are talking about. It's crazy. Okay. Sean's going to watch that. And we still have to see Pete's going to see buddy. And I'm going to go with Pete to watch buddy because part of the fun of seeing buddy the first time around was watching it with a friend because that shit is the best. Unless the internet decides that it happened in real life and is problematic in which case I stand with children. Also, Sean, I'm going to we've been doing doing a good job of kind of putting these things on each other's plates. I need you to watch 500 days of summer by next episode. Also, I will I'll hand up and give the audience a little more credit because it does it does seem like I am it seems like it's a lot less than 50% who doesn't know what you're talking about. Like that don't know what you're talking about. Like a lot of cats. Yeah. It is a classic. Yeah. It is a it is a at least a cult classic. But I would say it's more in the line of classic. Like I named my dog after 500 days of summer. So that's how that whole thing started by the way. There are enough. And I mean, 10 years of you got like 10 amazing years, 10 years of 500 days. And a lot of those days of summer were not good days for Tom. Yeah. All my days. Well, all my days except one were good days of summer. Shout out summer. Shout out all you love you all. We are we're going to pick up the pace soon. So okay. Like get ready. The we're still doing the Patreon bonus episodes and everything and you can get that for more of the pop culturey stuff. But season is like starting really soon. So we're picking up the pace and I can't wait to make these things more frequent. I got to say real quick. I just got a text from somebody who's watching the show in all caps. Don't watch it. What? No explanation for what that I don't know what it's about. Was this it boy? No. Remember I talked to women sometimes. That's right. Josh, Samanski. - All right, bye, love ya.

Summary:

FAQs

Kel McCarr's eight-year, $20.4 million contract makes him the highest-paid NHL player ever, nearly reaching the cap maximum. It signals a shift in the league's salary structure and highlights his status as a top-tier defenseman, with many fans and analysts seeing it as a validation of his elite performance and value.

The controversy arises because spirit animal content has been widely appropriated online for years. Critics argue that the Hurricanes' use of it was insensitive and dismissive of cultural appropriation, especially when team staff seemed to downplay the issue, leading to backlash from fans and commentators who see it as a sign of poor social media judgment.

Connor Hella Buck, a veteran defenseman, publicly requested a trade, citing concerns about team performance and player fit. Critics argue that the Jets have no obligation to act, especially since he signed a long-term deal in 2023. The move is seen as a challenge to team loyalty and raises questions about player agency and organizational decision-making.

The host feels the game is released too late, after the season starts, making it feel out of touch. He argues the game should have been available earlier to build excitement, and expresses frustration that it's underwhelming after years of free access, signaling a lack of innovation or quality in the new release.

Dejon Love's fabricated claim of being an NFL player and his elaborate scam — including fake contracts, social media posts, and birthday cake with a 49ers jersey — is used as a satirical case study on how easily people can be manipulated by fabricated identities, highlighting issues of internet literacy, AI misinformation, and online grooming.

The show believes sports gossip has become more open and accessible due to social media, allowing fans to see off-field stories that impact performance. It contrasts traditional media's serious tone with modern audiences' appetite for real, often absurd, behind-the-scenes content, calling it a necessary and engaging evolution of sports coverage.
