Luis Figueroa: From YouTube Covers To 6x GRAMMY Nominee & Co-Signs From Marc Anthony & La India
1h 9m 12s
Luis Figueroa, a six-time Grammy-nominated salsa artist, reflects on his journey from childhood musical influences to becoming a prominent figure in the genre. Rooted in a family with deep musical roots, he credits early exposure to artists like Mark Anthony and his uncle Antonio Golong as foundational to his passion. He shares how YouTube and digital platforms played a pivotal role in his rise, leading to a breakthrough when Mark Anthony discovered him through a cover song. Luis emphasizes authenticity, cultural pride, and the importance of self-expression in both Spanish and English, viewing music as a tool for empowerment and community connection. He highlights the genre’s resurgence, driven by new talent and a growing, diverse fan base across generations. The podcast also underscores the value of support systems—like State Farm and T-Mobile—offering real-life help and enhanced experiences. Through heartfelt storytelling, Luis celebrates the resilience of salsa, the power of mentorship, and the importance of speaking truth in a culture where visibility and authenticity are vital. His journey reflects a broader narrative of Latino identity, resilience, and the evolving role of music in connecting communities across language and generation.

I'm already hot.
I'm already hype.
I'm already excited because you know, somebody who I've been mentioning,
you know, all this season, maybe during every interview that we touch on salsa,
the man is finally here.
Bienvenido Luis Figueroa.
Wow.
I am, I am flattered to be honest by what I just heard because honestly,
it's not that I haven't kept up with everything.
Like I've been keeping up with your Instagram posts.
I've been seeing your interviews with Danny Lay.
I've been seeing interviews with Farruco.
Obviously, they don't have a montage of, of, of the me mentions.
But I'm excited to now go back and listen to the, we're going to put it together.
Don't worry about it.
My producer, my producer today was like, you know what I'm going to do?
Every time you mentioned Luis Figueroa, I'm going to clip it.
And then I'm going to show him that he finally made it here.
It's going to be great.
It is going to be amazing.
We're here.
But here's what happened.
Let's bring it back.
Luis Figueroa six time, Grammy nominated.
OK, because you have arrived, bro, you are a man right now.
Thank you.
I love this for you.
And I love this for us.
I love this for myself to be honest.
You know, like, it's one of those things that, man, when you start off in this industry,
you don't realize what patience really is.
And I know everybody mentions it.
Mark, siempre me lo menciona.
Mark Anthony, by the way, I know I'm using short, but Mark always mentioned
it to me and I never realized what it meant until right now.
Because while I was going through the process of getting to where we are today,
I was so anxious to get there, right?
Like I had an enjoyed and I think today I'm enjoying this journey a little bit
more, but I wish I would have enjoyed it from from the beginning, right?
I was always so either it's not even respectful.
It was just like timid and I'm trying to onto the next thing.
What's going and now we're finally here.
And it feels like, wow, like to so, it feels so surreal, right?
To be sitting down with you, talking about the present of the salsa,
what you know, you know, one of it.
this is going to happen, but we're here now and I am man.
I cannot be more proud to be sitting in this chair and confident to be sitting
in this chair with you to have stuff to talk about.
So let's go.
I'm ready.
I'm pumped.
So this is so fly, man.
And you know, I want to bring you all back to the moment, you know,
that I was sold on you.
Okay.
I went to see La India here in the Bronx at Lehman College and they were
like, you know, La India and Luis Figaro and I wasn't very familiar, you know,
with your work or who you were.
And I was like, okay, she's got somebody with her.
But then you came out with her and then I heard that beat drop and I said,
hey, she's going to do vivirlo nuestro, Marc Anthony.
And this young man right here is going to sing Marc Anthony.
And I'm not lining you, I closed my eyes before you sang and I say, he better bring it.
And let me tell you something.
And you killed it.
Thank you.
As you talk about it, my hands get sweaty because there's a responsibility that
goes into one, I'm going on India state, right?
This is my daily life.
I got photos.
I'll send them to you so you can see it from when our relationship started.
And it's crazy because fast forwarding to now, obviously, Marc is my mentor.
He's one of the first people that believed in me and signed me and I signed to
Magnus and all that kind of good stuff.
But there's always a pressure, right?
When you're going on stage, you're in New York.
Like, we're not, this is not, this is this is nowhere.
This is New York.
The major is they're both Marc Anthony and India's home.
This is their, this their playground and you're in the Bronx and I'm in the Bronx.
So for me, the pressure and you know, it's crazy.
I don't even think we planned to do that that night.
Like we had gone up.
We performed.
It wasn't on the menu, right?
And we're so hard on that scenario.
I'm going to say, oh, I'm going to be in the middle of the night.
And I started to sweat and I want to add the responsibility that it takes to just
represent both.
Like I'm representing both of them.
These are two of my biggest mentors that I've ever had that love.
You don't need to be in New York to do this song and to perform and to have people
that I know every time that song starts, they can be like, yo, he better bring it
because that song is not, so no, that's not a walk in the park.
That's not easy.
No, it's not not easy, but honestly, the reception of the, of the public.
Tuyo, it was incredible.
Oh, yeah, I was there.
It was me, Dasha Polanco and canasajudos PR.
And we're not looking at when that song started, we're like,
it's a little bit of a thing.
It's all the same.
It's a little bit of a mess.
You know, man, you killed it.
You really, really killed it.
That's how I look at Somea as a sentinel.
You left me a prize to the point that I talked to everybody about you.
I'm like, I need to be on payroll.
The way I'll be promoting this man, thank you so much.
They're like, I'm a real, you know, I'm a salsa fan, but all my Salcedos were my parents.
Salcedos got it.
And I'm like, oh, no, I have my own Salcedo and I love it.
And you know what?
And I love that for me too, because I think when I set off on this journey,
I never realized how much of an influence artist like Jerry Veda or artist,
like Mark Anthony or Anthony Golong, or all the Salcedos of Frankie Riz,
like all those guys were decorations to me, but I never understood when they used to say,
I just want to inspire somebody else to do it.
And when I started taking on my own career and doing my own thing, I think the goal,
and it realized that that's all I could, I was looking for was if I could change
someone to want to do salsa at some point in their lives, I've, I've accomplished everything, right?
For me, it's not about, okay, we're going to be the greatest Salcedo only,
or we're going to be, you know, everything that comes with the territory.
For me, it was like, man, like, I want to inspire young guys to want to do salsa,
to make, you know, to, to do a Romeo Deo with Bachata.
Romeo had everybody trying to be like, oh, Bachata is cool, bro.
Like Bachata is the jam.
And that's what I want to do with salsa.
And to hear you saying this to me, it's surreal because it's a, again, full circle, right?
When you're finding yourself as an artist, you never really, you never know where you're
going to end up or what the destination is.
But for me, right now, a salsa feels like this is where I've always supposed to be.
This is where I was supposed to be from the beginning.
But I'm glad that it's happening now.
I'm glad that it's in the space that is happening now.
And I'm glad that it took so long to get to this point.
And I want to thank you because I'm not going to lie to you.
At one point, I was like, damn, a salsa is going to die when all these Salcedo's die.
Like, yeah, I love it.
But it's just like, how long are we going to have?
Do your time. I'm on in La Mima and here you are.
And you're like, yo, you're making it cool again to be a young Salcedo.
I love that.
Like, yo, you don't understand how much I love that, bro.
Like, are you here with, you hear what she just said?
Like, you're making it cool to be a Salcedo and that, that, that makes me happy, man.
And that brings so much joy in, like, I'm a cryer.
So if I cry, you know, you don't cry.
Music has been my life and my passion for where as long as I can remember.
For always. For always and keep doing it until we're not going from here.
But, man, listen to what you're saying or what you're saying.
I said, everything is worth every single thing that we've been doing, right up to this point.
And I'm like, man, like, yo, we're making it, we're doing it.
And we're doing it our own way.
And it's fly because like the other day I was in the car and I was listening to the mega.
I was like, yeah, and they played palo bonito.
And I felt so emotional.
and I was like,
This is somebody new.
This is a new sense.
I am not listening to Marc Anthony from 20 years ago.
- Imagine.
- Like how fly is what you all are doing right now? And it's great, man.
It's great to, everybody's pushing the bar.
Right?
Everybody's pushing the bar, setting the bar for it.
And it's a great competitive nature
what we are right now.
Because everybody's like, "Yo, you heard what this guy?"
"Oh, you heard what this one's doing.
"Oh, we got to step it up."
And I love it because this is what it's always been.
Right?
Music is about not just making music.
This is competition.
Everybody's here to make hits, to make songs.
- We try to go platinum.
And there's money for everybody.
- Okay.
- But I love the fact that Lenny is doing salsa.
I love the fact that everybody's building their thing.
You know what I mean?
Soon enough we'll come to collaborations where everybody's like,
"Oh, you know, salsa needs more collaborations." I don't think salsa needs more collaborations.
I think salsa's doing what it needs to do because--
- It definitely is.
- Everybody needs to grow, right?
Like, everybody has to create their base.
Everybody has to create a fan base or,
or how to say this or how to get a foundation. - You're like, "Let me do what I do." And then people will come.
They will come.
If you build it, they will come.
And I'm a firm believer in that because,
look, it was happening.
It's been happening.
But people will say, when we finally make it,
people will say, "Wow, it's got to come out of nowhere."
Like, the night of the morning,
but they haven't seen the 10th annual Konoyeva, but today is great because everybody's building.
Slowly but surely, everybody's building.
We got new guys coming into the genre.
We got guys that have always been here.
We got guys that are coming from the urban department.
We got Guaina and Lenny and Sergio doing his thing.
Anthony Ramos doing salsa in English.
Like--
- That's fly, I like that.
- I love it, man, I love it.
It's great, you know what I mean?
And he says something that was interesting the other day.
He's talking about Anthony Ramos about like, you know,
having to do salsa in English and not being accepted
if you don't speak Spanish.
And I related to that, right?
Because I'm a kid from Philly, right?
Like, when I first started doing salsa
and I wanted the Spanish-speaking crowd
with my Puerto Ricans or my latinos
to rep me doing salsa, I was like,
but he doesn't speak Spanish enough.
And I related to what he was saying because I was like,
"Damn, like, I love my heritage.
I love where I come from, I love."
- But you feel like you don't speak Spanish?
- Oh, today.
But I see.
(speaking Spanish)
- Bring me back.
- Yeah, I'll take you back.
And this is part of the relevo.
I know I'm gonna go off a little bit.
It's part of the relevo where people think
that I started doing salsa in '20.
- This is the album.
- This is the album.
- Okay.
- And in the relevo, which I'm doing with pieces
of a documentary of all my VHS tapes.
- I was trying to find a documentary.
- I have, it's on YouTube.
I'm on Friday, there will be another piece
of this coming out.
- I was on YouTube and Paramount and Pica,
I went out for all the album and all the YouTube.
- So, Mom, Dukes, I gotta shout out to my mom.
Let me take the book.
I have a color.
(speaking Spanish)
- Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
- What's your current choice?
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
- No, don't get don'ts.
- Don't do it.
- Okay.
(speaking Spanish)
- There's a problem.
- I don't know if you're a coffee snob.
- I am.
- You are?
- But I like it black, so it's fine.
It's cool.
- As simple.
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
- Like if you weren't in pasta.
- Yes.
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
- Can't.
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
(speaking Spanish)
Spanish, where I could appreciate my language, my language, my language, my language, and I did it a lot today.
I have done the effort to express myself in this way, in the community of the way we are communicating.
I mean, if I relate to what we said before, because I also felt that way.
It was like, "Diamond, I have one of your salsa and I feel like people are coming back with my shit because I don't speak Spanish, and they don't think it's authentic."
I was just trying to say that.
Who is that "blanky" or "mamoso"?
I was just trying to say that.
I was just trying to say that before I started speaking Spanish.
And you know what?
But at the end of the day, I did it anyway.
Of course.
You know, we did it anyway.
And I commend him for even doing salsa in English, because at the end of the day, yeah, it feels good.
This is what we're supposed to be doing, and we've always wanted to cross-read it.
I did it in my first album, which is called La Diferencia.
I did it in my first album.
I did Backstreet Boys in salsa.
I've always wanted to do it.
At nine years old, my first album was at nine years old with salsa.
And it's crazy.
You guys will see the clips, because I'm putting the documentary together.
It's coming out on YouTube, so check it out.
Man, just my authentic self comes out in El Releo, which is my new album today,
where I have a record in English, which we'll talk about a little bit.
Let you down.
Let you down.
It sounds good.
I like it.
I can't. When I started off in this industry, it was more like I wanted to do salsa, and I wanted to do R&B.
But I wasn't accepted in either or, because it was like. You were stuck in limbo.
You thought you was, John B.
You're not the Puerto Rican John B.
But we're here.
Yeah, we're here.
We're here.
We're here.
You have to pray.
You're not John B.
You can't sing R&B.
You're here.
We're here.
We're here.
You can't sing R&B.
You can't sing R&B.
He's like. My receipt is on YouTube.
Don't play with me.
But you know what's crazy?
Today, I feel so prepared for this exact moment.
Right?
Like, everything that I went through to get to this point to be doing this salsa is me.
This is like. What you see is what you get.
And there's no facade.
There's no. Okay, he's trying to be somebody. No, this is all. This is as. This is what you guys are going to get.
And I love it because I get to express myself through salsa, which I've always loved.
R&B, which I always love.
And. Oh, I'm a romantic one.
Horrible.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
If you want to be a romantic one, you know what I mean.
You don't want to be a romantic one.
I want to be a romantic one.
You don't want to be a romantic one, you know what I mean.

I'm pumped up for where we are right now and I'm glad that everybody's taking their turn.
Everybody's taking their turn at bat in the genre of salsa.
That for a lot of people thought was going down the tubes.
And today I feel like, you know, we're doing this.
Yeah, bringing it back.
And I'm just so high, especially here in New York with such a, you know, population Puerto Rican.
Let me tell you that.
That size settle crowd is tough.
Oh, a size settle crowd is tough, you know, but what can I say?
Look what we do up on.
Yeah, but that's what I'm saying.
What do you mean?
And I told him that I blame more.
I blame more.
I blame more.
And I blame more.
You guys set up more.
I'm too high.
I'm too low.
La Fania, what do you mean?
No, I can't talk like Mark Anthony.
So you can't sing that song.
No, I'm not happy.
No, I'm not.
We love you.
We love you.
We love you.
We love you guys.
And you know what?
I'm excited about where we are because I used to think that I needed to.
I needed to, you know what?
Like I don't know if I was able to speak to the public. Oh please them. No, I just I I needed to gain their trust them as a as an audience and I realized that when those guys came out with salsa romantica
They made their own audience because they was the Los Alceros que le gusta la salsa hablaba and the Los Alceros que le gusta la salsa romantica
And when the Romatico guys came out, nobody liked their stuff.
They were like, "Oh, it's Samonga."
And they made their own audience
and such a Romatico plays everywhere, like everywhere.
So I had to get used to building my own fan base
and building the people that are coming to listen
to what I'm creating.
Not, I get to adopt the size of fans
because they're supposed to like my shit.
No, that's a fan saying it's supposed to like nothing.
They don't have to like, they like what they like
and they live in the nostalgia
because what they made back in the day was the shit.
- It really was. - And it still is the shit.
- Timeless.
- And for me is we're creating stuff
not to compete with them but we're creating our own lane,
which is in its own way, its own thing
and creating our own fan base along the way.
- It's 2026, 2026 baby.
- And you know you got Gen Z, you got Gen X,
you got the millennium, but we're ready, we're doing our thing.
Slowly but surely, we're doing our thing.
- You have a ride.
- I have a ride. - What word is that in English? - The reveal?
- No.
- The replacement?
- It's like when you're running a relay race
and somebody gives you the baton
to run your segment on the race.
- Okay, okay.
- So it's like, okay, I'm passing you the batons
so you can run your sector of this race.
- Got it.
- But for me, it's not one of those
where it's like somebody's giving me the baton.
right? I'm I'm taking the baton from that nine-year-old
Luis Figueroa always knew he was going to do this right like this was the
dream from the beginning and if I would have had all of the resources and all
the knowledge that I have today then this is probably what I would have
created and I'm super excited for people to listen to this album because
there's a growth from Luis Figueroa the first EP in the first album to
the level where there's more confidence. There's a little more swag. There's a little more nostalgia
on Mayan because watching those VHS tapes and watching the growth from then to now. A lot of
times I'm like you don't you don't live in between. And with this album I got to live all those
photos, you know, all the photos with Dito Niel, all the photos with India, all the photos with,
you know, El Canario, photos with Montialesandra, for photos with Rui Perez. Photo like from when I was
I was a kid, right?
So, is that, right?
It's the compilation of all the best parts of my life
from then till now, good and bad, good, bad and indifferent.
So, it really was that.
I'm not relieving Mark Anthony.
I'm not relieving anybody.
- Ain't nobody passing you the baton.
You passing you the baton. you know, you've mentioned all these, you know, pioneers,
all these icons.
How did you come into contact with these people?
Like your parents, are they in the music industry?
- My parents are musically inclined.
- Okay.
- But they're not, they never pursued music, right?
Like my dad plays percussion.
He's actually the MD in my band.
My mom, she can sing when she wants to.
My grandfather used to make guitars.
My family, everybody, my uncle sings,
my grandfather wrote poetry.
- That's in your DNA.
- Everybody, it's there.
Nobody did it professionally,
except for my uncle who's the cantantea tel soleo
que se llama Antonio Golong.
And he did it and he's been doing it.
- That song, I please stop.
I gotta stop for a second, that song.
- Well, my uncle's the one who sings that.
- I love it.
- You love that song?
- I love that song, too.
- That is just such a cover of it.
- Stop, that is just such a iconic song.
Right? I know you feel what I feel.
It's just one of those.
It's been the most iconic songs since I get to remember.
'Cause I grew up on that.
That was in my household all day, every day.
Just as I was in my household all day. All those songs were as the base for me, that's.
How do you feel right now about giving me a little bit?
Oh. (singing in foreign language)
- You are a man, bro.
- We didn't have to warm up for that one.
I'm so glad that we don't smoke no more
because that came up-- - You used to smoke?
- I used to smoke.
- I didn't. - It was one of those things I was like, you know.
- It was a nervous tick.
- It was a social thing.
- Oh, so that I got from just. - It's like a cool fact, I feel.
- Yeah, I thought I was, you know, I thought I was cool
and it made me look cool and whatever, but. - I feel it, I feel it.
That's kinda like the hooker when we go out.
- But we left it, it's gone, three years out down.
We out, we chill in.
- That was good, that was a good one.
- Yeah, so my uncle, he was the only one
who did salsa, who did music.
My family has been doing it for, you know,
It's always been in my DNA.
And man, I never realized how much of an influence
they were on me growing up because it's normal, right?
And normal.
When Mark, I knew how big that song was for everybody.
When Mark says to me,
'cause I asked Mark this when we were sitting down,
I was like, "Yo man, when you got inspired
"or when you was coming up back in the day
doing salsa. Who were you listening to that was like, "Yo, I made you want to do some
salsa?" And he was like, "Man, you don't even know, bro." Like, there was this band from
Philly. I thought he was fucking with me at first. I was like, "There's only one band from
Philly that. " And I was like, "If he mentions this, like I'm just gonna fall out." He's
like, "Bro, I don't-- Man." And good old Marfaz, he's like, "I think I made my first
to that damn song. I was sitting in that damn song. And I was by that group and I was like,
I'll tell you what he's like, hold on, let me put it on. I put it on and it goes, that's the song.
It was a band from Philadelphia and it got Joelle and I was like, that's my uncle. He had no idea.
I was like, I thought he was fucking with me. He was like, no, bro, like, I didn't have no idea.
Like, I love this song. This song was amazing. I knew how, that's when it finally hit me. I was like,
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
o a mis videos, a mis videos, a mis videos, a mis videos,
yo estaba intentando preguntar qué voy a hacer, ¿no?
Yo no tengo plan B.
¿Cómo me voy a hacer?
Thinking about you 'cause at that time think about you was fire and it was my first one
of my first viral videos and I remember today that was like yo I can't go to this gig
like I called somebody out I sent somebody I gotta do this cover and I did it and it
and a lot of it everything that you see today came from YouTube from the covers like
from from people finding me like Nazari outweigh from magic signing my first production deal
"Nobody es going to. "
"I don't know anybody, I don't know these guys, but I know that the credits say these are
the names and these are the songs, and if somebody watches it, it's probably somebody
-¡All of the YouTube!
Dime.
Mi mamá iba a hacer esa cover.
¿Cuál es la canción?
Flor Palia, ¿ok?
¡No, no, no, no, no!
Oh.
Sí, la ganamos, la puedes buscar.
Habla, yo estoy aquí.
On behalf of Luis Fineros, no puedo venir.
Perfecto.
No me tira, yo me voy.

¿Qué me he escuchado en inglés?
entonces estaba flaring, covers were the thing, that was the thing, that was the thing,
es how you got discovered yeah, and so what happens, I did this cover, the song does
its thing. And somebody at the label was looking at that cover because the day that the
actual music video of Florida came out, someone copied the wrong link. And they said,
Mark Anthony official music video and the link for Florida was my cup. So whoever's
que es un mes de ahí. Yo nunca me he revelado la historia.
Entonces, ellos eran muy bien. Y eso es que todavía existen.
Es que me podría haber un saludo. Es un chico de mi casa.
Es un cuadro de ponenzo.
Porque todo es changed, ¿no?
Mark had done. Aquí, vamos al magico y Nazari.
¿Ves a ver una canción? ¿No?
♪ Why you gotta be so room ♪
That song changed everything,
because the leader of that band,
I had signed to him as a production,
in a production deal.
And I remember him being, he's delusional.
but in a great way. - In a good way?
- In an amazing way.
He knew things were gonna happen for magic,
with the song where nobody believed them.
So when he said to me,
Rude's gonna be so big that I'm gonna be able
to get you to Mark Anthony.
Imagine, and this guy also has,
I mean, he's delusional, but he's a worker.
Like, he's a workaholic, and he's done his things.
That place was ever everybody in their mom,
and Justin Bieber, Chris Brown.
Like, there's a reason why I signed him.
Also, it's not like, you know, the madness was always there,
but at the same time, it's like,
there's an art and a skill to his madness.
So, when Rude became this exponential hit,
he was a man of his word,
and he got to sing Rude with Mark Anthony
at the Lion Grammys.
Fast forward, they sang Rude at the Lion Grammys,
and they're chilling at the yard listening to music,
and Nazari's showing them music to Mark.
I'm obviously the guy who's singing the songs,
'cause I'm part of the group, I'm part of the crew,
and they're trying to pitch in the songs,

"Sing in the song." He goes on his phone, he's done. And bro, and one thing that's another was,
I do that, I need his number.

And that record was for me.
But there is something that Sebastián Yadra taught me without teaching me, right?
It takes a certain kind of songwriter to give props to another songwriter when a song
is good.
And not all of your songs have to come from you.
There was nobody who vouched more for por perro or loved that record more than Sebastián
Yadra.
And I don't even think I loved that song as much as he loved that record because he
fought for that record tooth and nail.
And that gave stuff into perspective for me because it was like, before I was so jealous
with my songs, I was like, "No, I got to have this, it might be my next."
Yeah, and he taught me that. He taught me like, "Man, yo, all the songs don't have to come from you."
He's a. He's an incredible. no, I'm not kidding. I'm sweating. I'm sweating.
He's an incredible composer. And you know, for one to admit that another composer is a good composer.
Y más, take money and investe in a record
that you're like, you know what I mean? It's not your record from its inception, but the
way that he loved that record and the way he pushed that record, it's his record.

Nunca voy a olvidarte.
I just, I couldn't, at the moment. ¿To emotional?
Or what?
At the moment, whatever I was going through was so much that I couldn't get through the
first four lines.
I tried it seven times and not because the song was too high, there's a record, that's
a record that I would have loved to have. Not only interpret, but I would have loved to have written that record.
That record, there's very few records that make you feel stuff.
That was one of those records for me.
Nunca voy a olvidarte, and I've never been able to record that record because it's just
everything.

That song is absolutely. That project is absolutely beautiful.
It's crazy.
It's crazy.
From beginning to end.
If there is one project that I can say, I know word for word, probably, that is it.
La India is an icon.
She is a goat.
I love everything about her.
And can we talk about, you know, how. She's just using her voice, like I saw her this week on Instagram and, you know, just
peeking out and, you know, just not being afraid because, you know, I feel like a lot of
artists sometimes are afraid, but when we have things happening, like what's happening
in Puerto Rico, we can't be afraid.
That water crisis that's happening, that should not be happening.

I respect her, ya te va de vacaciones, y te va en una piscina y te puse su lente y
she just talked hot.
That's a good word.
So, you know, no solo tenemos que, tenemos una plataforma.
Just like if you expect everybody to like you, you fucked up because you don't even like
everybody.
Like how do we expect everybody to like what your opinion is or what you stand for when
you don't even like everybody or everybody's opinions?
So who cares?
Just be you and say what you feel and just live, what you're trying to live.
So I love that for her because she's using her platform for whatever she feels needs
to happen.
And she's always been one of those people that has never been afraid to speak her truth
and her heart.
And I love that.
I love that for her.
And I feel like what she says is from the heart.
It's raw.
And it's real.
It's raw.
And we respect her.
And we admire her.
And it's like, thank you.
Yeah.
And you know, I just thought I said, thank you so much for not being afraid.
Because a lot of people in the space that we exist, they're tempted to not have an
opinion.
And they're tempted not to have an opinion because we just feel like there's not enough
or we might not have the right words to express what we want to say.
And under the pressure and the scrutiny of what people are going to say, you start to
tweak it too much, right?
And it doesn't come off as natural.
But I feel like we'll get to the point where we'll be able to say what we need to say.
We will.
Well, you know, but one thing that, you know, this space is for us, you know, it's for Latinos as far as to say, you know, what's bother?
And I love this.
Gracias, come again.
Gracias, come again.
Ya tú lo sabes como cuanto, cuanto a la bodega y compro un sandwich over there.
Well, okay, yes.

I'm glad that you made it here today.

I think sometimes people get in their head.
Like, I don't want to upset him, him, him, and him.
Yeah, I just, I started to just block him out.
You just block him off.
You're like, yeah, no.
You know, he's no longer like from the from afar.
You probably see me.
February 26th at 8 p.m.
Promotion a la vaina.
And I get it.
That's their job.
They're supposed to.
They're here.
They're supposed to, they're supposed to look out.
But a lot of times back in the day that I used to, because one of them is already in the bios.
In a conversation with someone, having something, talking about something, and then what else comes to the other person,
the other person says, "I'm going to do it."
"I'm going to do it." David the man, he's been going back and forth.
He made it happen.
You know, and he-- Perfecto yo soy más como que en the moment kind of kind of guys.
But that's why it works.
That's why it works.
So I like it.
Now I just involve him.
I'm like, "Yo David, when's the day?
What day?"
What is that?
You do it again?
Yeah, what is that?
What is that?
You don't like it?
He's not a camera person.
But I appreciate you having me.
You don't understand how awesome this feels to feel like we have a space.
That's been-- and I say we.
And I say we because I feel like I represent
a small or a bigger, a bigger portion of what's happening right here in New York and Philadelphia
of Spanish speaking, English speaking Latinos that were born in the United States, that have
a platform with you with gracias, come here.
100% man, like you sit here, you want to speak Spanish, we speak Spanish, we speak English,
Spanish look at you here, man, I just want you to understand that you are Latino enough,
whether you speak English, whether you speak Spanish, whatever it is, man, it's a raí,
I don't care if I was born right here in New York, I am Dominican, I feel the most Puerto Rican ever. But I always felt like that. I think that's a thing from us.
Like us, like, it's crazy.
I was here for the Puerto Riga, the Puerto Riga,
they parade the Dominican, they parade in New York.
Come on, they've never, they've never seen nothing like that.
They gotta come here to feel that energy. I've been a Jamaican day parade.
I've been a Trinidad and Tobero.
I don't know. You don't know, but you don't, from the bottom of my heart,
I appreciate this platform because this is something
that I think a lot of us have been desiring to have.
A space like we did, I don't even know if I can mention
that the show here.
- You could mention anybody here.
- We were on the Fox five here in New York.
- Good night, New York.
- Good day, good day, good day, New York.
- Good day, good morning, good day, good morning.
- Good day, good morning.
- We're here as well.
- We love them, maybe having more guys.
- And we were doing Sci-Sci, right?
We were doing Sci-Sci in English,
and it was crazy because one of the comments was,
oh my god, they finally put Sci-Sci on fast,
as far as like water.
- Like we're not in New York.
- What a time to be alive.
You know what I'm saying?
And I was like, wow, like that's crazy.
Like I didn't know that they had never played salsa
or like they were opening the space.
And I was like, wow, like what a time to be alive.
And so yeah, you don't know how appreciative I am
of this space for - No, no, look I said, and you know,
I have to stop and you know,
thank I heart radio for believing me to create this.
from the colors to the name and this didn't exist
and they were like, we're down for it.
Whatever you wanna do.
And for actually, you know, just supporting it, promoting it.
I saw it on Amazon Music the other day
and I'm like, yes, I hear for investing coin in the show.
- Yeah. - Yeah.
- And you know, we're gonna be down there
for Fiesta Latina and you know, we do the interviews back.
Like it's just dope, the way.
- For me, Fiesta Latina, you know what I'm calling me?
- Yeah, I'm like, I'm available.
I'm available, that's my plug.
Call me, I'm available. Claro que sí, no, you know, I heard as been dope and you understand the power of Latino
and how strong we are and our numbers and you know, the way we make records go diamond.
Yep.
And we've been proven it.
We've been proven it.
The power of Latino, it's just, you know, it's something that can't be denied and we're
here.
We're here.
And we're going nowhere.
We're here to stay.
And we're not just one country.
Nope.
We're like 12, right?
We're like a lot. - Me and you together, we are a problem.
- Yeah.
- Listen, if you guys want me to come back at any point,
I'm here, you know what I'm saying? - Because I love your vibe.
- Thank you.
- And, you know, your voice.
- Thank you so much.
- Top tier, fashion.
- You guys got a space for me, I'm down, I'll be down here. I said, what's he wearing?
He's like, I didn't look at his clothes.
I'm like, well, anyway, bring 'em in,
'Cause I want to see what you wear, because he's fly.
I knew you were coming.
- I had to come, I had to come right.
I knew I was coming, I had to come right.
- You ate that shit.
- Thank you.
