Liverpool ROBBED, Brighton Are a Top Team & Martinez Purposely Self-Destructing? | Overlap Daily

The discussion covers key Premier League match outcomes and broader issues in football culture. Arsenal’s strong defensive performance against Liverpool is highlighted as a pivotal win, though the missed penalty incident is criticized as a serious officiating error. Manchester United’s recent struggles are attributed to individual player misconduct, particularly Lesandro Martin, whose self-centered behavior has undermined team cohesion. Brighton emerges as a rising force, winning their first home game against a top team with a clean sheet and a stunning goal, signaling potential for a top-four push. Meanwhile, clubs like Nottingham Forest and Coventry face scrutiny over poor consistency and lack of clinical finishing, raising concerns about long-term viability. Managerial stability is also questioned, with Forest’s new manager emphasizing player buy-in as essential, and Coventry’s coach stressing that league performance must take precedence over European success. The episode also celebrates personal feats like Millie’s marathon, underscoring the physical and emotional dedication of athletes. Fan reactions are pivotal, with admiration for resilience and grit, while individual player performances—like Williams Barnett’s impact—show promise for future growth. The overall tone reflects optimism for emerging teams and a critical eye on player and managerial accountability.

Overlapped Daily's brought to you by our title sponsors Skybett and Sky Vegas. This is a global and the overlap production. Did you see where we're improving each week on those quizzes at the end? Yes. We came second this week. I was so proud of us. It was good. It was actually a good question, that one wasn't it? The top score as well. No, I liked it, it was good, it was good. Get you with your prep. Someone's got it on me. Did you see James Elner? Yeah, I did see it. How impressive. I've seen it on Instagram. People shout and encourage them. I think he has like a million. It's one of my favourite things to go to with the London marathon. Really? Have you ever been to it? No, I've never been to one. It certainly won't be running in one. Are you passed? I wouldn't mind going to support. Are you passed the point of being able to do it? I don't think my body could do it. That's why I've just got so much admiration for Millie, because I mean, listen, I know he's a machine. I played with him and he's one of the fittest players, if not the fittest player I've ever played with. Probably him and Jordan Anderson are going to be the two fittest. Maybe John Ann Arisa, I'd put in the category, but to run a marathon at that time, after the career, is I going to be in fair play? Because he's what I want to see. Almost 40, 41. Oh, I don't want to. We don't want to age him. We don't want to get the wrong. He must be close to if not around the 40 mark here. Because he ran for, well, he did it in three hours and nine minutes, which is like 429 a kilometre. I don't think I can do that on a bike. I don't. So fair play to him, I mean, is he, I assume, he's doing it for a special cause as well? Yeah, I'm sure I'll be sure. So fair play to him, yeah, wonderful. I wonder how long, though, they're like, because I went athletes retire, though. Keeping fit. Because you like run every day. This is the reason why I like playing paddle, because it helps with my fitness and it's competitive. There's a point I did do yesterday. I lost a padded bag. I was glad to meet you, Smiser, because I know you're going to try and get that out of me. But the reason I like paddle is small spaces. Less chance of getting injured and it's competitive. See anything around a big space, 11-11, a football, or long distance running, or what scares the life out of me? Now, where, where my body's at? What would go first, mental or like your body? What would give up first for you? No, mental wouldn't be a problem because I've still got that where I want to push myself, challenge myself. I still do five Ks. Not a great times. I'm still doing five Ks at reasonable times. So, mentally, I can still go out and do a run. But the thought of a marathon scared the life out of me. Yeah. So, anyone who takes part in a marathon or anything over big distance, I think getting them soon as swam on the channel at one point didn't fit. They did. Really important cause. People that do that at that stage in the lives of me, they've got so much admiration. Joe Cole does a mega cycle as well. People that do these long. I always have, like, no, I could do that. I could definitely do that, 100%. I can just. I'm thinking now that people are going to get in touch with me and they're going to offer me to do crazy cycle now or get involved in a run. I'm just going to be like, oh, don't leave it. They feel the pressure. Leave me alone, yeah. That was my. Before this, I used to work in radio. Yeah. And every year they would have charity places in the London Marathon. And I was so terrified that somebody one year would come to me like, can you do it? I'd be like, I don't think I can. We're going to get pushed to do something new, aren't we? Oh, I need. But now I mean, yeah, Millie. Brilliant, well done. Congratulations. Fair play. But no surprise, as I say, he's a machine. He has a machine, played the room. Incredible drive, professionalism. And. There were some amazing signs as well. I'd seen, like, people get so creative. I don't know how they do. But somebody had written, like, you'll never run alone. And somebody else put James Milney yesterday. I was a picture of him, I ain't it. No. But it was. I love that type of band, so I think it's great. It's just Millie. I know. What would you get if somebody was running and they had a banner for you? I don't know. I don't want to know. Is that opening a whole kind of words we don't need to go down? I think so. You're watching The Overlap Daily. You brought to you by Skywet and Sky Vegas from the biggest talking points to the debates dividing football fans. We're here to bring you all the stories we're talking about with Skywet and Sky Vegas. On today's show, Stephen Gerard and I discuss all the big results from The Weekend. So make sure you're part of the conversation, please. By liking, subscribing, and following wherever you're watching or listening. All right, with that, let's get into it. [MUSIC PLAYING] Liverpool Arsenal, yesterday. It's been 14 years in the making for Arsenal. It's coming away, taking three points. You went to the game? I did go to the game. And it was a fantastic, premier league game. Obviously, still feeling the emotional side of it, being on the losing side as a Liverpool fan. But I think starting with Arsenal, they will go away from Amfield, absolutely delighted. I thought it was a really professional performance. I don't think it was a wonderful, free-flowing type of Arsenal performance, which we've seen in terms of quality and all the quality players they've got. But they came here with a mission and a job to do on Liverpool. And they'd done the job. It was a fantastic defensive performance and to a man. They were organised, they were difficult to break down. And they take three really important points away. You talk about six-point games at the bottom of the league a lot. You know, it's a six-pointer. But this was a six-pointer at the top of the league. If you like it, Liverpool could have won that game. They would have closed the gap to three points. Now it becomes nine. I don't think Mikaela Teta and his players will really worry about not being fantastic going forward. But they will be delighted with the defensive performance they put on. They were outstanding. Yeah. I don't know. Was it a slow start for Liverpool? The first 15 minutes, Arsenal were at it. Yeah, they were at it. I think Liverpool were playing a little bit more on a motion off the crowd. They took maybe 10-15 minutes, really get a foot hold in the game. Young tray and Mikaela started really controlling the game from the midfield after 10-15 minutes. But the goal that Arsenal scored was outstanding. The cross from Declan Raist, the pace that you have to put on that type of cross to eliminate the three Liverpool defenders that are there. You know, defensively from Liverpool, you have to look at the back post. You know, a rack host, maybe, should have been there before. I have it, but it's a wonderful goal from an Arsenal point of view. But outside of that, they had one more effort with Solace. Where Alison were well classed safe from Alison. Outside of them two months, they didn't really put much together going forward. But I don't think they'll worry and care about that. Because they've won the game, they've got a clean sheet. They restricted Liverpool to attempts on goal to very little. And they'll certainly go away delighted. The Liverpool penalty incident that was never given. What was it like watching it in real time in the ground? You could definitely see that there was something there. From where I was sitting, it wasn't clear and wasn't sitting there to me. That's a penalty, definitely a penalty. But the crowd reaction, you go on off at Wondering, is there something there? And the speed at the cross and how it happened in the reaction. You can understand how a referee could possibly miss that. Or think there's not much in there. How you missed that in the VIR seat is an absolute embarrassment. Interesting. Who was it? In VIR yesterday. Was it Stuart Atwell? Yeah, well, there's no excuse for it, is there, really? I'd be saying the same if this was anyone. To hold someone's share for that long and have three, four opportunities to see that and slow it down and the amount of cameras that are in stadiums at the moment. I think it's really poor from Stuart Atwell. Virgin Van Dyke said in his post-match because he was sort of pushed a bit saying, "Oh, we shouldn't make more of it." And I actually think Eriola said afterwards, "The players are going to have to go down and roll around to draw attention to it." And Virgin's point was like, "Why do we need to? You've got 50 cameras on it." Well, you can't win that situation because you're trying to make it more dramatic to try and convince the referee and then people say, "You're cheating." So you can't win that situation. But in this day and age with the amount of cameras and technology we've got, you shouldn't have to make the most of anything. Especially if someone's sitting there watching it. He shouldn't know that that was a clear pull for a lenta time to stop you getting on the end of a cross, which was a goal-scoring opportunity. So it's a penalty. And I think Mikaela said after the game, they rolled the look at time and I think he's alluding to that incident. But look, Arsenal Arsenal were great in terms of their performance, defensively, they're such a difficult team to beat. They can beat you in different ways. I'm trying to compare this Arsenal team to some of the teams that I played against. And it was like a Jose Merino-like type of performance where Chelsea are really strong at the back. yng Nghymru'r yng Nghymru yn ddodd yn yng Nghymru i'r ddodd yn ddodd yn yng Nghymru yn yng Nghymru yn ddodd yn ddodd yn ddodd yn ddodd yn ddodd yn ddodd yn ddodd yn ddodd yn ddodd yn d yn gallwch yn gallwch wedi'r gwaith ymwch yn gallwch yn gallwch yn gallwch yn gallwch yn gallwch On the floor. Amelokat Brantford. Although I thought that one was a clear lean in and a headbutt, I thought that red card was the right decision. And you can understand why Jack, he get forced back. But I didn't like Luke Shaw's reaction in the United game and I didn't like my callisters' reaction in that game. If the shoe was on the other foot, I'd be really disappointed in by the way he saw I need to be disappointed in my callister. And my callister was fantastic yesterday. He was really good after the 10 minutes where Arsenal started, 15 minutes were Arsenal were on top. I thought Liverpool really controlled the midfield area, Jung Tray was fabulous. The time he was on, I didn't think he needed to come off the pitch so early. But my callister was arguably Liverpool's best player. I loved the four knees in, he's playing fantastically well. I just think he spoiled himself a little bit with that reaction. And he had such a glorious chance to equalise before the game. And you know if I could pick one player to be on the end of that cake, his cross, I would pick my callister. He's fantastic in the air for the little fella, he scored a lot of big headers for Liverpool. He's such a threat as a player. But in general play, I would have backed them to score that. He has to hit the target. We like that. Heading hands. What's it one of those? That was the moment and I felt that Liverpool would have won in one all. It would have been a different type of team talk. But it was a really good game football and I came away from the game frustrated by the result as a fan. But thinking to myself there's a lot of positives in that Liverpool performance, a lot of good performances. And these big games, you know, the swing either way, with big moments in the game, Liverpool overplaying. Through Alison, I don't think there was any need for that. They sort of kill themselves Liverpool. Yes, they shot themselves in the foot because there was no need to concede that early goal. But they had that my callister chance to get level and obviously the penalty incident is really big. Alison makes a save. I thought on the balance of the whole game, one all would have been a really fair result. But credit to Arsenal, that's how you win leagues. Going to places like Liverpool being strong, sticking together and posting a different type of performance, which was full of great and fight and togetherness and they got over the line. And they will know that come the end of the season if they win the league, which I think they will. I haven't changed my mind from the beginning of the season. They will look back at that more than you four or five nils where they look fantastic because I'm sure they will at times. They will look at that and think we went to where I'm feel tough crowd to play against. Tough Liverpool performance, Iriola's got this Liverpool team playing an awful lot better. Liverpool played well and we managed to get out of the three points, it could be huge for Arsenal. Yeah, well done to us, not top of the table at this moment in time. Yeah, nine points behind for Liverpool, so Liverpool got where to do it if they want a challenge. But this Arsenal team just look as if they can beat teams in different ways. I think that could be the difference. Chelsea Manchester United, this was a big game, the lunchtime kick off. We went into it going who needs this more, what are the stories coming out of this? You spoiled this scoreline for me and I'm - I did. Yeah, because I taped it. I had to go to Liverpool, Liverpool Leo's game, sat the morning. I'm sure I told you that I had to do that. I think you did. And you texted me to score and I'm trying to watch you in real time. Thanks for spoiling the score and the outcome. I'm so sorry. But anyway, it got off really. It's the same movie for Manchester United, it's the same movie. Big actors and big players, you've got big roles in the movie, you're letting the movie down. They were fantastic in the first half, United, I thought Michael set the team up really well, picked the right team. United fans right behind the manager and the team and they could have went in two or three up maybe. They looked really dangerous, they were organised. In that four to four-mation Bruno's on the left, I'm not sure he's happy on the left playing on the left or spending a lot of time on the left. But the team were good, they were organised, I thought they were much better than Chelsea in the first half. And the frustrating thing from Michael's point of view, he will be in there at half-time. I should be talking to my team, being sooner up. Fafana was United's best player in the first half, he kept getting robbed and Diallo had a couple of chances. Fernandez has a great chance on his left foot. So yeah, Gamer 2-1-1, for sure. Lesandro Martin, is he just pushing the self-destruct button at United? It certainly seems that way, I think only he knows if he's doing that, but it certainly seems that way. He had a 90 second period of absolute madness. And I've done this myself, where I've pressed that button. And it's ego, and you just, I remember doing it against United and getting sent off. But mine was different and more complex because I thought I should have been playing. I felt like the manager wasn't backing me to play in the team as I started at the time. My head was like a box of frogs, and I had a 30 second moment of madness, but I was sitting in the dressing room after that moment. It thinks myself, you're a loser. You let yourself down, you let your team down, you let your fans down. And it's your fault and you're responsible for them three points. So I went on to Sky, I think it wasn't the time I was to get him, and I apologized. And I owned it. The difference here is you've got to play that done something very similar, and as let fans down, the club down as teammates, he's costed the whole points. But he's done it for the manager that's backing him. Yeah. That's supported him, and that's really gone out of the way for him. And I just thought, as I say, as I described myself, he costed his team three points. It was selfish, it was all ego, thinking he's all macho. But the disappointing thing for me is he's walking off the pitch shaking his head, as if it's the referee's fault, as if he's the victim. But as I said to you last week, it's not going to change for United, it's not going to change, it's going to carry on. Because I think they've got a couple of bad eggs in that group, that's my opinion. And let he's engineering his own exits. That's possible as well. I've seen that happen before, so I wouldn't be surprised by that. I wouldn't surprise me, and it is in his world when he's around as dining table at night with his family and his agents and whatever he spends his time with, that he's thinking, I want out of it, a sharpish. And probably the best way for me to do that is to cause problems, and that's exactly what he's doing. The performance in the last couple of weeks has been shocking. The noise around Carrick, whether it remains or they've lost, but it doesn't feel bad today. Do you remember during my last week, it was like hanging, whether this news was going to drop, because they'd lost, and then they've lost again, but this week it feels very different. Yeah, I think it feels different because the first half performance was really good. And I think the Manchester United fans and the board, but rather than Wilcox have seen a manager and a coach and stuff set a team up to go away to Chelsea, which is a really difficult fixture and dominate for 45 minutes. And then the seeing this individual just absolutely ripped the whole plan up, the whole strategy. And I think the Manchester United fans are recognising that, but what a would say is, they haven't won in nine. You can't blame all of that on Martin, as you can't blame it just on Fernandez coming out and speaking. So I think the people above Michael and the ownership will be thinking of a little bit stuck between a rock and a hard place here, because if you take the first half showing away, you're coming up to an international break, and if results don't improve in the next couple, at any other big club, the manager loses his job, happens to me at Villa this time of year where, you know, the recent run of results before you went to the incident. I simply went good enough and I knew what was the right and was on the wall. But it's a bit complex because individuals seem to be really harm and the results and the group. Y 17th, yna'n yng Nghymru. - Is it? - Is it? - It is because when you look at this team, you just don't know, you've looked the first half, you think no, you think no, because the dominated Chelsea, you think, and there's more than enough good players on the pitch to put some run results together. But if you've got individual players that I'd be even and doing this, it's difficult to get results, isn't it? - Yeah, it's difficult to get results. When one player can just completely destroy everything that's gone into that, it's quite alarming. It's quite alarming. - What's the next game? Oh, Champions League, Roma. - Won't be easy, but I think it'll be a nice distraction away from the league for them. But then they've got Ashton Villa and Liverpool. - Yeah. - If you look at Villa's performances recently, outside of the second half against Fulham, and you look at where Liverpool are, the performance is just the, both Villa and Liverpool beat this Manchester United team. So, I think it's going to be a move and journey in the next couple of weeks for Manchester United fans. And depending on how these next three results go, the two in the league and the Champions League will depend on decisions made in terms of Michael's future, I think, if he would not get the results in the next three, I think he would have to go. - Yeah. - But I don't think that solves Manchester United's problems because whoever comes in with these group of players certainly till January. I'm just not sure they're a good group. They've got good players. And when I was really good at the weekend again, you've got defenders that are really trying. You can see that and they've got good players out there, the performance was good first half. But I just don't think you can source this group to put our own results together. They just look so different than the squad that finished last season, so strong. It just looks different again, like the culture's being ruined again. - Yeah, we watch this space, but as for my Chelsea points of view, Jeremy needed this, do you, as a manager, are you aware of what the general public is saying? You say I don't watch things that I don't read things, like that's the general line that people will come out and tell you as a manager, but are you aware? Do you have a secret burner account? - I said, you know, you made a way. It was just quite funny actually because you don't look for it. - Right. - You don't, you don't go and look for praise, you don't go and look for criticism, but you see stuff on the TV, that comes up, you see stuff on your social media and I do anyway. And even if you're sort of on a bit of a bad run, you think I'm not going to vlogger any in blah, blah. Why don't you make a section? Well, you read what you said. You read what you said, you read what you said, and you're like, "So, managers, I say they're not aware of it or it doesn't land on them, let's tell them your lies, everyone's aware of it, and if you're not looking for it and you're trying to stay away from it, people put it on your lap." So I mean, would there be an aware going into that game that it was an important game for them? You know, really poor performance against spares and then going out to the cup against Liverpool, he wouldn't knew there was a little bit of extra pressure on, man United are in town, man United are not playing well, so you're expected to beat them. So after the OK Chelsea first half performance, whatever he did at half time in the dressing room, him and his staff, or whatever the players did to themselves, I would have liked to have been a fly in the wall because the Chelsea performance second half was a lot better, more energy, more quality. I think they got a big help and hand from Los Angeles Martinez, but over the course of the second 45, Chelsea were much better than United, and really made them pay for the red card in the end. The goal from Rodgers was fabulous, I thought he was good, I thought he was good throughout. Lavie is really important for Chelsea, I think him alongside Salcedo gives them a really strong midfield base. What did you call them? Lavie? No, the other one. Salcedo? Caiseido. Caiseido. Oh, yeah. Salcedo. Salcedo. Salcedo. What's the difference? There's a difference. Salcedo. You know what I meant or didn't you? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I did. OK, we'll get a few more views from that hopefully. They're two top midfielders, I really like the base that they give Chelsea the strength to go and attack from, and Lavie don't fantastic for the Rodgers goal, you're stealing midfield, the early pass, but the run, and the way he sort of slalom through and to finish it with that corners, with the dink. Top player, top goal, and I thought he was really good for Chelsea throughout. Emineste Val, with a big threat, Paramo's good at times. So Chelsea, you've got the attack and quality, I think when they get Pedro back, they'll be fine. Going back to that halftime team talk, you're saying, what shall be your London's character like? It's here, shelter. No, he's not going to be here dry, he's not going to kick things, but I tell you what, he'll be firm. He'll be honest with players, but I think he'll be very constructive, you know. When Javi spoke in the Liverpool dressing room, you'll listen because he knows the game. He's really intelligent guy in terms of football, he's a student of the game, when he speaks its sense. But he would be not confrontational in a bad way, but he would tell you something. You know, no, you need to do that, you need to do this, and this is the reason why. And he'd be really firm and strong, but no, I don't think he'd be disrespectful. I don't think that's in his character. But whatever he did at halftime, he got a different tune out of the Chelsea, and he got a reaction. And as I said, he got a huge help hand from Martin as Red Card, but he was a different team in terms of the energy and the quality, second half, and he deserved to win the game. It was a good Chelsea performance. There was a lot of course for Esteveau, William, he was in there, and he did well. He rewarded Javi Alonso with good performance. He did, he's really exciting, he's great to watch, you know, your typical Brazilian where it's about flair, it's about quality. But I really like that he's very direct, I like that he's hungry to get shots off. And if there's a little criticism of some of the players for Liverpool in the attacking areas, I would say they don't shoot enough. They're looking for that maybe that extra pass or that little bit of perfection, where there's what I like about Esteveau is. Certainly the one when he coming off off the left, a little combination playing, he whips that and it's a fantastic save. The Unitedkeeper, but I like the way he's hungry to get shots off. And he was an opportunity in the first half where he could have slowed the game down a bit more, and looked to pull it back to the edge of the box, but he wanted to be that little bit hungry to go and get himself a goal, so he's desperate to impress the manager. And he's going to give Javi a problem when Jal Pedro comes back because Nettles is a great player as well. But five doesn't go into that from four, so it's going to be interesting, but he'd done himself no harm at all in terms of his own individual performance as well. Good problem to have. Brighter man city, Brighton. I'm getting excited when I get to watch Brighton. We spoke, what we touched on it last week, maybe didn't speak about them enough. They lost a Liverpool, but within the game they were very good and very dangerous. Could have had some more goals, or could have scored goals in Amfield and give Liverpool a problem and put them greater beat them. But what a result, the first time they've ever won there, and you can see the scenes after the game, it was like being won a cup. Do you know what? Mentally, I think they won that before they even kicked a ball, because I think they'd lost, but they'd had chances, they didn't take them, so they knew they could get it, to see. And Fabian Hertz, in the post-match interview after the cup game, used the word revenge. I just like that mentality. Yeah, I think he's got that confidence and that belief where it's just on the edge of like, you know, it's not arrogance. It's just that real backing of his team and his players, backing himself, tactically they were really good. But what I would say is, city still had a lot of chances and caused Brighton a lot of problems, so for them to get a clean sheet and win the game, unbelievable results, but it could have been difference as well. It could have been different, you know, the keeper gets a man of the match, he makes three or four top-tops saves within the game. It wasn't our snow-type performance where you're solid and you restrict, you live a pool to shot on your goal. The score line could have been different, I'm saying. This wasn't city, not turning up and being poor. This was Brighton, obviously scoring a wonderful goal, and also having a keeper and defenders that are getting blocks in. I mean, the dunk block was like saving a goal. I'd really like dunk, he's top. And I think he really keeps this team together and they've improved defensively. I think I've got six clean sheets. Unbelievable. The keeper, wow, saves, he was making work with top draw. So everyone's all in Brighton at the moment and people start to say, "Oh, you know, can they challenge, and they can be for the league?" And I'm going to put my neck on the line and say that I think they will fall away from that just. But that's not a criticism, but I think they're the top team, but the top manager. I just think to go the distance over the course, I think the stronger teams in the league will pull away a bit, but I certainly think the top four contenders and the most dangerous team in the league at the moment to play because they're playing without fear. Everyone knows the job in the team in an outer possession. They've improved a lot, I would say, from a defensive point of view. and they've got so many dangers players. Mae'r rhannu'r rhannu'r rhannu'r rhannu'r rhannu'r rhannu'r rhannu'r rh It's the other teams that sometimes they've faltered on. So, as much as they're flying now against these, you know, the man's defeat. That's going to be the challenge for, I told him saying, like, over the course, you're faced with so many different challenges in the Premier League. And I just think where Arsenal squads are and cities squad and Liverpool squad, I just think over the course of the 38 games, them three teams and Chelsea, when you look at Chelsea in the second half there. And I think then teams will pull away a bit over the course, but I think they're going to push and I think they're going to go for it. And they've got a real hungry energetic manager, who fancies, who's confidence, as you say, who's bold. And they've got a gang of players that are fabulous to watch. And I'm really interested to see how hard they can push. But I think they've got a chance of pushing for top four. I don't think they're a title contender, in my opinion. Femburg and Brighton fans don't get annoyed at me for mentioning this, but there's sort of rumours this morning around where Dre's potentially looking at him once he's on top. All the top teams, all the top teams, will be looking at Brighton's players. And I think the Brighton hierarchy and fans are like, come on, bring it on. Because we lose big players or we move big players on and we get all the top players in. That's how we roll, that's us. Yeah, they don't panic about that, so they. Recruitment or error of, like, not a problem to us. If you pay the right fee, you can take no problem because we've got a conveyor belt and we've got all the stats to pull the so-of-efficient and effective from a recruitment perspective. I'm actually happy for them. I'm actually smiling because I think what a place to be in. And the fans must be lovel watching this team. So Madrid's in all the clubs that like to cherry pick the quality. They'll all be watching the Brighton players because they're all in good form. They're all doing great. But a special mention for Lewis Dunc. You know, just being there for that amount of time, the loyalty. He was top of the weekend. And I think them seeing the players around that Brighton group, you know, Milner, Yelalana's, that I've just left recently. It's important you have them players because there's a lot of change, a lot of newness. I imagine you'll be keeping all that together. Yeah, good place to be. As for Manchester, back to back lead defeats now for them. Surprise, you know, you wonder whether there's a little bit of what they've been through in the last four or five weeks in terms of all that media, storm and attention on. You wonder whether it's having a little effect. I think that's what people are thinking, is it? I watched my city live against PSG and second half. I was thinking to myself, oh, do you want to maybe win the league again on the evidence of that performance? You were incredible for 45 minutes against PSG. So I'm really surprised in the last couple of results, but I'm not seeing performances that are poor, seeing some individual mistakes, you know, from the goalkeeper and them conceding some chances that maybe they might need to tighten up and be a bit more solid from, but the performance is not bad. I expect them to bounce back, and I think they'll be, I think they will be involved in the title race. I think they're that good and the squad's that good, but I'm really surprised that two have come so close together. But as I said, they had big chances against Brighton. They come up against the goalkeeper, they got one of the match. Did you watch the game? Highlights. Well, I watched most of the game, I was fast-forwarding them and trying to get through as quick as they can, and Jai was unbelievable, the way he's dribbling and he's creating, and he was top. He's another dangerous player, they've got some in, he was obviously out, but I just think City over the course, they'll be there or thereabouts. Brighton's next home game was against Brentford, giving you all the B teams, but Brentford's most consistent team in the Premier League, which you're not so. Yes, certainly up there. I think the job Keith Andrews has done, Donald Damien-Duff's come in this season to support him, doing a terrific job. He's got Brentford with all due respect, punching well above the weight in terms of consistency and the results they're getting. Going about the business in a really quiet way, and there's not much noise coming out of there, just next game, next game, and another terrific result is really stronger home. Again, another team that are really playing for the manager, tactically, well drilled and deserve a lot of credit. These B teams, you said calling the B teams, but playing like eight teams, no? Yes. And for the three of them to be in the top seven at the league, I don't think any of them would have predicted that. You mean Bournemouth, the other one? Yes, Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, all in the top seven, all flying high, Bournemouth at a bit of a slower start, but they've won six out of six, 14 goals I think it is, but don't concede it. In fact, I've got it here. Flying. Oh, wait. Me notes. Got it. Oh, yeah? They come into their own. What do they say? Here we go. So, one of the last six out of six, 16 goals with no goals it's in. 16. 16 goals scored and none against. That's so impressive. Beating AC Milan, beating United, both three nil, it's like, you know, these groups of fans, Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth, they must just be absolutely loving life in the Premier League at the moment, and they all deserve unbelievable amount of credit. Do you think Keith Andrews gets the credit he deserves? I think he has, because I think, when he first got the job, there was a lot of like eyebrows raised, a bit like, hmm, does he deserve to get this gig and, you know, what he sort of done prior to deserve this gig, but he's obviously being outstanding behind the scenes for a long time for the people above, Brentford, to give him this opportunity, but what he's done is he grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and he showed that he's a really mature guy. He showed that he's tactically spot on, of course, he's had some defeats along the way and stuff, but if you look at his job so far, you would say he's done an outstanding job, and he's recruited stutely, cleverly, and I think, again, they're gonna, and they're in a place where the teams set, and, you know, they can strengthen a little bit in January, why can't they again push for the European players? They were so close last year. So close? But I think that will be fuel and motivation for them to push a little bit harder, and the players that have come in have done great, and I'm sure he's got a Zion 1 or 2 areas where they can maybe, you know, improve again in the January window and, you know, get through these winter months and really push for it and use the frustration last year to, you know, go that one better and push. So with the goals as well, tell you what Bournemouth seems to have at the minute, luck. Luck seems to be on their side just a little bit, which I think you also need, because the James Trafford incident, they kind of gifted them the first goal. Yeah. I mean, some people might say that luck, but for me, is that not a man I'm just setting a really high press up, and people being on the front foot and sort of setting traps? That's the way I see it. From a coaching point of view is, you know, the Bournemouth positions out of possession. And they know Trafford is from city and how he's been schooled and how he likes to build and know that, you know, these type of goalkeepers, they take a little bit of a risk. Alison is the same at Liverpool, Trafford's one. You know, these managers that like to build from back to front a lot and they're obsessed with it. Do you give you a chance from time to time? So I'd rather give Bournemouth the credit there. Yeah, fair enough. You told me. I did them a disservice, you're right. Yeah, no Trafford made mistake. That's clear to say, but, you know, you have to go and punish that mistake. Hmm. So, well done for the first goal, but I love the second goal. And I've praised Tavernay and I've praised the Brazilians who were flying, but the second pass from Croupey into Adley, a little, oh, it's just beauty, it's absolutely beauty. One that you've watched back again. I took it back a few times. Yes, yes. And I've seen it on match of the day as well. I loved it. I loved it. Just, you know, the vision to play that pass. I don't think we see enough of them pass because, you know, you see a lot of compact defences on the edge of the box and it's really difficult to create when a lot of bodies are behind the ball, but it wasn't for Bournemouth, just to speed the play and the vision and the movement and the runs to break that backline. It was a fantastic goal, the second one, I loved it. Yeah, I'm excited. All the weekend, for me, outside of the Rogers one. There we go. We need to make, like, a little certificate. No, but I think sometimes these teams, the Bournemouths and the Brentfords and stuff, sometimes, he focused too much on the big team. No, I agree. I agree. You know, like, I want to be in this chair, really, praise some of the stuff that them teams do because that goal, you know, city school, that goal, or Liverpool, we're raven about a few days and weeks. The second goal was a well-class goal, in my opinion. Oh. - Cheers. - I've never tasted a chocolate one, actually. - Chocolate ones, okay? - Yeah, vanilla's all right. - Not as nice as blueberry, but I can make it work. - Oh, it's like vanilla. - Yeah, it's actually nice that one. I don't mind it at all. I'm just off chocolate at the minute for some reason. - I've been on the chocolate strawberries this weekend. - I got it. - So, Lordes, we never got a cake for a birthday of 15, and she said to me, make sure you say happy birthday, so please put this out. - No. - Happy birthday, Lordes. 15 this weekend. - The diva of our family, shall we say? - She a world one. - So she aged you. - See these lines here, and these few greys that are popping out. Lordes, you're out. 20 round the weekend. Smash the outside downstairs. - 20. - 20 people. - Girls and boys. - Yeah, miss. - Oh. - They got ejected at 10pm for noise levels, should we say? - Was that you? Did you have to go down? - I've had some of the chocolate strawberries, so she won't be happy. That's a few of them when I got in last night. - So you had some of the chocolate strawberries? You threw all her friends out. - I ejected them politely. - Why, but they're just too loud, are they? - They were loud. I was trying to watch the game sat in the night and the noise levels were just like, beyond belief. Teenage boys and girls just make noise when they're together. It's crazy. I mean, I understand music, I understand music, but I'm just like, "Why are you shouting so loud?" And I was just like, "Oh, no, no." Said so Alex said a clock, "These are gotta go." "These are gotta go." Quarters passed, actually, I give them 15 minutes. So they were meant to go to 11, I was like, "You know, they're gotta go." There you go. - You ruined the birthday. - Didn't. They'd be in different selves. It's in place. - Well, I hope she's been giving you for it. We are the embarrassing dad. - Oh, so I longed to see her to love the school. I left early this morning. - Stay out of her way, all day. - I'm never inviting you to a party. They're half past 10. - Yeah, no, but I wasn't in the party. - I wasn't invited. - Oh, is that the difference? Is that the difference? Okay. - She didn't want me anywhere near her. I went down at 10, she was just cold to me. - Get out. - Get out. - Anyway, moving on. - From things that are going really well, to things that are not going so well in the Premier League. I feel like this trouble in paradise or ready at Nottingham Forest. Oliver Glastner at the weekend had some choice words to say in his post-match interview, where he basically was just like, "I know it's transition and they're changing, but he basically said, 'If the players don't buy into this, nothing's gonna change.' And you're gonna have the next manager and the next manager and the next manager." - The surprising thing for me was that he said he's not prepared to compromise anymore. I think him going into that job, he shouldn't never compromise from the beginning because of the amount of manager changes that this group of players have been through. It's alarming. The amount of manager change are forest in a short space of time and people might tell the owners, trick or happy and blah, blah, blah. But you've also got to look at the players' performance on the pitch and their consistency levels and obviously not enough. They've had some good times. A lot of forest fans and players over the recent years, but at the same time, there's been a lot of manager change. A lot of manager change. And it's quite alarming. I should imagine I like to show on the ice and Steve Cooper and Victor Pereira are probably, if they watch this, they're probably thinking the players. That's the reason why I'm not there. And I think Glasgow's sort of alluding to that. That there needs to be a more consistent reaction from this group of players in terms of results. So the wise, he's going to be another victim in terms of so many losers of the job. Because forest, I think, in terms of the players they've got, I know they lack a little bit of clinical finishing in the front line, which I think is hitting them a lot. I still think this group of players shouldn't be where they are in the league. You know, if a look at, you know, Morgan gives white and that level of player and you know, Makatee and Murillo. You know, they shouldn't be in the relegation zone, in my opinion. I've seen enough from them in the last couple of years. I've seen them around for a few days in the season where they've got to draw the cable of better results consistently. And I think what the manager is saying is, he's not compromising anymore. I think he should have never compromised from the beginning anyway. But it was an alarming interview. It was an emotional interview. So watch this space there. Because I think that might be a little bit worse than what we see from the outside. Keep your eye on that one. They're not scoring any goals either. That's the concern. That's the concern. I mean, would other. Couple of really hot streaks. And then you've got an injury. Tyo. Ioomni, I think you pronounce it. Ioomni's gone to Coventry. The laps come in for big money and he hasn't really shown that he's the prolific type of finisher. Hezuse. He scores the odd goal here and there. But the quite sparrada. I think they haven't got that guy that's going to get them the goals for the consistent results. So it's a big concern. And I think the way Glasgow is in a place in terms of that real solid organisation, it's quite restricted. I'm just not sure where they're going to get the goals to put the consistent results together. From the outside, for me, watch the space there. Hezuse liberates as well. Granite jacket had choice words to say after the sun bling game again. I think that's one where a foreign player has wanted to front the media up, which I like and give jacket credit for. And he's trying to sort of be really honest in terms of talking about the collective that they all need to sort to start listening to what they're working on on the training ground and start producing that in the games when it matters for real. I think that was what Jack was trying to do. But I think because they're sitting bottom of the league and they can't buy a result at the moment, it looks as if it's a senior player, maybe, having a pop. But he's done it in a better way than what you're at Marcie University doing. For sure. And I think I admire more about that. That he's sort of put himself in that group as well. Second season syndrome, you know, is it a European factor? Is it just, it was on such a wave of a higher confidence and belief last year? Do you think they are a victim of their own success this season? Yes and no. Yes, because I think they punch well above the weight and surprised everyone last year and they were fantastic to watch at times and they had the top season, they got European football, these air ball appraise. You know, was the hunger levels just dropped a little bit because I'm sure they're getting the same messages from the manager and the coach. So again, is it players needing to just step up and step forward and production a bit more? But it's an alarm and place to be after the last season and playing games on the back of European games is a lot tougher, an awful lot tougher. So I would be worried if I was just in the lymphoma at the moment. Because as good as European football is going, the league is the important one. I've got to stay in the league after the journey they've been on. I don't know how many years it is with the last decade. It's still early in the season. But if I'm the owner or if I'm on the board of that club and I'm speaking to the manager like what happens, I would be saying to the manager, forget Europe, forget the domestic clubs. We need to start getting results in the league. We cannot go out of this league after the work and the journey we've been on. Every game in the league has got to be a cup final for someone. That's the message I would be giving to the manager and if I was the manager I'd be giving that message to the players. Do you think that's what Frank is saying to his coventure side? Yes. I think Frank's bright enough and clever enough being around the game in all for a long time. I know Joe Edwards is no mug as well. Really clever as to coach. Them two will be saying to them players I'm sure. I can ask, actually, there's a nodule. Well enough to have the conversation. These Premier League games are our cup final. Especially after the slow start. It's like hang on a minute. The domestic cups, while we'd like to do well from a supporters perspective. These league games are our cup finals and I think Coventry's performance is in the last three or the last four have been magnificent, very different. And Frank will take them points over any cup progression. I'm sure because the priority's got to be to stay in the league and it's looking a lot brighter, a lot more energetic, a lot more smiles around the Coventry group now. And that comes on the back of the results. What else happened? Haven't we discussed Eston Villa? We haven't gone through Eston Villa. You may play with the handbrake on this week. Not in the first half. They come out of the blocks really organized, really aggressive and caused a lot of problems, actually, in the first half. Followed them had some really nice counterattacks that they couldn't really make the most of. But I think in the main, it was another UNIM-ry type of performance of Villa. He'll kill me for saying it, John again. But I've given him enough plays, the penalty's big. Because if you can go in at halftime, tune it up and you're back, John to score that penalty. He's gone for the top corner, he sent the keeper the other way. I'm not sure you'll have to be that precise and go for that much power. He's being top of like John, but he will be sitting in the house thinking that penalty miss. If they'll go in there, tune it at halftime, I think the full-on players Mae'n gwneud yw'n gwneud am i'n gwneud, yw'n gwneud yw'n gwneud yw'n gwneud am yw'n gwneud am yw'n gwneud am yw'n gwneud am yw'n gwneud am yw'n gwneud am yw'n gwneud am i'r gweithio'r gweithio yn ymwch i'r gweithio yn ymwch i'r gweithio yn ymwch i'r gweithio. And I just thought to myself, they've got their own little Rio in Gamala. So look out for this boy, I really like him. Williams Barnett. Williams Barnett. Barnett, I think that's what it is. Yeah, but everyone knows you didn't know that it's coming there. Do you know what though? I can picture the back of the shirt. I know it's number 68. It's a me notes here. So I should know it, and I didn't check my spears notes. There we go. I'm so impressed with these notes. Yeah. I mean, I have notes too. Klasewski come on and add a lovely candle as well. It was a fantastic save. It's great to see him back. But the young boy, Williams Barnett. Did you write it? I did, I did you. You've written too many notes. Obviously. We had to go. Look, just proof. Williams Barnett. There we go. You want to watch Incapitals. There we go. Tell you. I love that. I love that. There was something else I wanted to mention to you. PSage. PSage. The pressure that is coming on PSage. It feels like Palace fans do really want it to work out for him. But it's becoming. Look, I mean, big shoes to fill in in Klasena. It wasn't a choice that I was aware of, if you like. So I'm sure that Crystal Palace fans didn't really know too much about them as well. But I think the Palace fans have wanted to give him a chance and an opportunity. But they'll be worried where they're sitting in the league. And Metetta let them down at the weekend because they started the game okay. They look really organized. So I fell for the manager. But if you look at the results over the course of the season so far, he's a manager under pressure and rightly so. And I think if you said to me now, he would you back to go first? I think he could be the manager that goes first. Which I don't like saying that. I don't like saying that. And I know Crystal Palace, they're not the type of club that would want to do that. No. But the fear and the threat of the results continuing past the next international break is very risky for these teams. It's very risky. So he would be the one out of the ones that are under pressure who I think, if I was pushed I would say, would lose his job first. All right, well we see they've got off and high on Thursday. So let's see if they can fashion something in European football this season. Champions League week, you are going? I am in Barcelona first. Barcelona Villa, tough game for Villa, Barcelona flying at the moment. The sixth one win. No, they're not going to go and go. But I mean, Barcelona just seems as if they're just saying to teams, let's go for a toe-to-toe and let's see. And they're just cutting teams off. They've got so much quality goals coming from all over the pitch. But Villa, they've got a top coach. I'm sure he'll have a game plan and let's see how it goes. But it's a big ask to go to the Spotify. It is, but the stadium's not quite finished yet. The whole atmosphere there isn't fully fired. But it's not affecting the Barcelona team. The flying high in the league, the flying high in Europe. One of the favourites for the Champions League. But I mean, what a great place for Villa to be in. To go to go and test themselves and challenge themselves against a Champions League favourite. Spanish manager, you'll know an awful lot about going there and what it takes to get a result there. So really interesting fixture looking forward to going out there and watching the game. And then I'm flying from there to Istanbul to do Liverpool. Ferna Bacci. Dirk Kites. The return of Dirk Kites. Will you go see him? Will you go say hi? No, I'll even say it. I know he'll be busy with the penalty. I'll send him a message. I won't wish him good luck, obviously, because he's playing against my team. But how will he find that? He'll love it. He'll love the opportunity. He's not playing, managing himself. He's got lots of the weekend to one in the league, which he'll be really frustrated and disappointed about. You know, Ferna Bacci and Gartassara are big teams there. When they lose or draw, it's a bit like a range of the Celtic losing. You know, it's as if the world's going to end. So it'll be disappointed with that league one. I think he would have before that be thinking about the Liverpool game. And it's got nothing to lose. Going really impressed himself as a coach and set his team up and make it really difficult for Liverpool. But I think Liverpool are going when they're comfortably. I don't think they've done themselves any favours at the weekend losing that game, he had to win that game. But I think it was a bit of a bonus game, the Liverpool one. I don't think there'll be much expectation that they're going to be Liverpool. What was the kite like when you played to them? Top guy, one of the best, great company, good fun. Very loyal, human being, proper mate. And it's great to see that he's, you know, getting an opportunity like that in the board. The Ferna Bacci trusts them to hold the reins until a new manager comes in. If he could have won at the weekend and then sort of got a top result against Liverpool, I think it would have gave him a better chance. But losing that one at the weekend, I think Ferna Bacci might speed the hunts up for their new manager. I would say, let me know if he's saying. I won't see him, I know I won't see him because I won't bother him. But I'll definitely send him a message and you'd love him, he's top company. I love that. He tells a funny story about you, I read it. Go on. He was, you were playing West Ham back in 2007, I want to say. And I read this and he said that he'd had a shocker of the first half, terrible first half. But then he came out in a second, I think he scored an absolute welding. He did all I did. No, he did. You ran over to him and just said to him, you were shit in the first half. Yeah, that's just got you out of jail. But Dei had that in his locker where he stink the gaffo for a pair he's the game and then he'd get you the winner. What he did was he was all in, he was a proper team player, he'd scored big, important goals. And he was a great team mate. What more do you want? He's had a great career, he's been a top player. But Dei had that in his locker where he could miscontroll a ball and then he put one in top corner or he'd get it tapping. But yeah, I've said to him on a few occasions, wow, how you stayed on the pitch to score that goal? He's beyond me. Do you feel like I'm just scored his 50th goal for Real Madrid? Wow. And I read the start, I think last night on my way home, I was stuck in traffic on the way home from the game. And a stack come up. ond mae'r ffod, ond mae'r Instagram.
