The New York Knicks achieved a historic comeback by overcoming a 29-point deficit in the second half of a crucial playoff game, marking one of the most dramatic comebacks in NBA finals history. Coach Mike Brown’s emphasis on trust, team camaraderie, and mental resilience was central to the turnaround, as players communicated openly and supported each other despite being down in the first half. The atmosphere was amplified by the presence of celebrities like Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner, who appeared on court and in the crowd, adding to the emotional intensity. Players, especially Carl Anthony Towns and Jose Alvarado, shared heartfelt reactions to winning at Madison Square Garden, underscoring a deep connection to the venue and the team's identity. The victory wasn’t just a result of talent but of a cohesive, mentally strong team culture built on trust, mutual respect, and perseverance. Mike Brown’s leadership style—grounded in principles like treating others how one wants to be treated—reinforced a culture of unity and resilience. The win also symbolically defied external pressures, such as political tensions, proving the team’s focus and emotional strength. This moment highlighted that success in high-stakes environments depends as much on mindset, teamwork, and belief in one another as on skill or talent. It stands as a powerful testament to the role of team culture and emotional resilience in overcoming adversity.
and Madison. Um, pardon. We just witnessed something that is really impossible to put into words. It's never been done before. What we just witnessed. Never been done. It was historic, historic thing. And come back next, beat the San Antonio's bird by overcoming a 29 point deficit. Folks, they were down almost 30 points, almost 30 in the first half. And it was the, the, the, the shift, like, I, I guess we just went to the press conferences as far away a little like, went to the home, went to the next press conference. Coach Mike Brown, when he gets up there and start talking about how he was like, I just told my guys, like, we have to make our own luck. Yeah. Um, I mean, he basically was speaking in Taylor Swift. Yeah, he was. Taylor Swift was there. And we will say, so we saw her, well, we tried to see her before the game. And we saw the back of her. But then after half time, we saw her and she was doing a, let's go next cheer and the tone going back in for the second half. So I don't know if she had some magical spell, a little folklore vibe, something because the vibe shifted. She definitely helped. Um, also, I just want to say we knew it. She wasn't wearing calves gear when she sat with Travis at the calves game. We knew it. I think it would have been pretty cool if she'd worn Nick's gear. And, you know, because you can have a relationship for your, I live in one. I'm a Boston fan. I have been to New York fan and it just built, uh, resilience. Yeah, makes you stronger. It does. But I like that he showed up. She showed up in a Nick's, in a Nick's shirt. And it was a little of her magic, but it was also just like the power of male friendship. It was really about the power of male friends. Mike Brown said something at the press conference. He was talking, talking about what did he say at halftime. And he said, I let the guys basically just sit and be with amongst themselves and chat amongst themselves. And I'm like, that is the power of male friendship. And, and I think just trusting your guys. Yes. Yes. Trusting your players. It's like they have good camaraderie. They can chat amongst themselves. They're also adults. They're wrong. You know what I'm saying? They're own coworkers. They're not five. They're growing land working together. The eight finals playing together. Yeah. Yeah. So I think that was also really interesting. And it was cool when they had that Carl Anthony Towns and Jose Alvarado were the first two players they brought up and they brought them up together. And it might be the buddy comedy that I didn't know we needed. And they're both, you know, cats from New York, Jose, New Jersey, Jose's from New York. They both talked about what it meant to be playing here for, you know, at MSG for the Knicks and winning a finals game here. And that explosion afterwards. And they were both so emotional and like honest and open about it. And it was like, you really see where this team has something. They did this against the calves. They did this last year against the Celtics twice coming back. And it's this ability to just go stuff like, yeah, even if you mess up and you get yourself in a hole, they go somewhere else. Yeah. And they say, no, no, no, yeah. It was also like they were basically saying, we're not going to let like the bad vibes of Trump. And then our owner is picking a fight with the Mayor of New York City and saying, we're going to win it all when we're trying to shut all that out. They still managed to shut it out. I also think what was the most fascinating was clearly they have so much trust with each other. They have so much trust with each other that even though they are down at historically horrific amount of points, that they still have trust in each other that they were able to say, you know what? I got you. You've got me. We're going to finish the job. Yes. You know, I mean that that alone is that should be the lesson. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, trust your co-workers, trust your teammates, trust your friends. Yeah. They also keep saying, you know, like Mike Brown keeps talking about we have talked about adversity all season. Like that's been the whole thing is that they wanted to hit these rough patches so that they could work through them. And you know, it really does feel like the most your favorite teacher from elementary school, which I mean is like the highest compliment. When Mike Brown talks because he's, you know, he speaks in a way, he makes it very clear that it is almost the golden rule. Yeah. He's like, you got to put out what you want to get back from everybody. I he didn't say that verbatim, but like that's the vibe that he gets. Yes. You have to treat others how you want to be treated basically. Yeah. That's what it was. Yeah. And trust each other the way that or trust yourself the way that these other players trust. Yeah. I mean, there's something, I mean, you know, people talk about like there's something in in the garden. There's something magical with these nicks. And there certainly is. But then I think when you just get down to it, it's really a mindset thing. Not just so much like a basketball analyst, but I'm like, yeah, they have the right mindset. Yeah. Could you imagine me down 29 points that happened in the finals at home before you're about to go play on the road and say Antonio and you walk in so deep inside your soul. I mean, that takes a really specific mentality to be able to lock in that intensely and finish the job when they're down 29 points. It's so true. And the chairs are taken. Okay. All right. So, you know what? That might that might be it. Can we stand up? Okay. All right. We're going to stay on. We're going to stay alive. We're moving ourselves. We're taking your bags. All good. We're moving our chairs. I'm taking mine. Mike wants me to grab the chairs. Food's on the ground. We're going to you want me to grab these chairs. All right. We're still alive. We're holding our stuff. We're still alive. We're still. Okay. I don't know what I was saying, but really it takes I think a really specific type of and the chairs are gone. Hello. It takes a specific type of teammate to be able to trust your teammates in that environment. When you are historically down, not bad, like down bad in in a not complimentary down bad, trying in the gym literally, literally, literally. And I think too that do you want me to hold for so good? I'm sorry. I think that there's an element of this where it's like we talk about a healthy workplace. They clearly have a healthy workplace. And they also like have worked so hard. And I think that someone asked me the other day, like how much do I think that talent is a part of success and how much is hard work a part of success. And it's kind of like, yeah, you have to be talented. But like, you have to work really hard to be in the NBA. Yes. Yes. And the spurs have been amazing. The spurs were really hard. The spurs blew it. They blew it. They blew it. They blew it. They blew it. Wendy's going to have to do some more drawing. He's going to quite literally have to go back to the drawing board. Sorry. I have to. Yeah. Um, there were so many famous people here tonight. Oh, so many. So many. We got a list and it was so long. I've never gotten a text that long. What happened? One of the lovely NBA player, yeah, Texas, who is here and it just kept going, it just kept going. Watching Taylor Swift freak out at this game with Marys Cavargeti and Ben Stiller. Also, you saw, did you see Kylie Jenner hug Taylor? I saw Kylie Jenner. They look like it was Kylie Jenner hugging Taylor Swift on the court. So I don't know. Maybe the Jenner Kardashian Swift beef. Maybe there was no beef. Well, who knows? Maybe who's to say who knows? Um, also Timmy at one point, uh, Timmy Shelman, Kylie Jenner, walking towards me when we were in the tunnel, uh, at the half. And I just, you know, I was filming everything. I just had my phone up and Timmy security guard came up to me and he, he tapped my screen and he growled. And I was like, what? You're missing a cute detail. What? Well, were you recording? No. No, Charlotte wasn't. We're sorry. Charlotte hadn't press record. So, you know, do you do the thing where like you think you're recording? Wait, wait, wait. Scooter Brauma City behind Taylor. Is that true? Someone just commented that. Sorry, I had to interrupt. No, I mean, I wasn't. Anyways, we'll be discussing that tomorrow on the show. Was Sidney's waiting with it? Well, someone said that Sidney's when he was here. I didn't see her, but it would be weird if they were here and they were dating and they weren't sitting together. That is true. Like, across they couldn't get these together. Yes. Like, oh, a couple of rows. Okay, that's crazy. You know what? Who got to sit courtside, though? Taylor's. And you know what? We've all been in situations where you see people you used to work with and it's not. Yeah, you know, you don't talk to each other. Yeah. And you just say, I'm going to let you, I'm going to let you live. You're going to let me live. Yes. Exactly. Exactly. The small world. Yeah. What are, okay. Before we wrap this up, what are your predictions for game five in San Antonio? I don't know. I don't know. Slip because I mean, I just realized that every time that the nicks are playing well, I'm like, they're going to do it. And every time it's first or playing well, I'm like, I don't know, my first. I mean, here's what I'll say. I did say about this game. The nicks had to win this game. This was a must win game. And they did win it. So I kind of think, I don't know, it would be really crazy if the only game they lost was the one that Trump just totally screwed up. I mean, I think it would kind of be unbelievable if they won. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it would almost be incredible. If it's like, oh, so that was the problem. Yeah, that was the problem the whole time. Oh, so the thing that we thought was the problem was just the problem. Yeah. But I don't know, that was that was one of the, here, I'll hold it for you. Oh, thank you. So I was at the 20 to three Patriots come back. Sorry against not your fault. It's okay. It's fine. It's fine. A lot of time. It's fine. And and you didn't just see my potential. And being at this game, this was the same crazy energy where everyone is just looking at each other as they as the team that's down is chipping away at this lead. When it got to four points. No, well, I said the troll. I said, if there are five minutes left, and they can cut the lead to five, you're just a little pundit. I mean, just call me Steve and I he's right over there. He's right there. Just sit down. You got to keep a chair. I know. Wow. Keep a chair. Next. Yeah. Also, we'll keep a chat there. Yeah. We're working on it. Also, our chairs are still there. They're still there.
if you're sitting them and then just holding it. - This is kind of more exciting. - Yeah, no, I like this. - Yeah. - Who, what can we show you guys, actually? And I think it's been really fun as more and more people become sports fans or are interested in it to have a game where, like, yes, what we talk about is off the court, off the field stuff. But we really do talk about how that impacted, what's going on on the court. And to see the off-port vibes have such an impact about something so historic, yeah. - Also, just to see a crazy freaking game was really cool. - It was amazing. - Really amazing. - Well, do you have any hands? - No, I'm nothing else to say. - I think that's it. - Well, my circadian rhythm is workably screwed up. - So screwed up. But I do know how to end the live properly this time. - Oh yeah, we just have to act out. - Okay, watch, I'm gonna act out. - It was so cute, though, and we didn't know how to do it. - I know, well, anyways.
