Pro football predictions are back on Calche, where users can trade with potential payouts, including a $100 bet on Indie paying out $336 if they win. Growth therapy offers accessible, low-cost per-session therapy with no subscriptions, available via virtual or in-person sessions. A central theme of the podcast is the importance of smart, intentional lighting in creating a luxurious home atmosphere—highlighting how subtle elements like lamps, candles, and smart bulbs enhance mood and function. The discussion explores the balance between opulence and practicality, noting that common features like gas fire pits or chandeliers may feel out of place in certain settings. Audience questions emphasize personalizing lighting to suit needs, such as safety in the dark or warmth during outdoor gatherings. Additionally, the episode touches on health and wellness, promoting early colon cancer screening for those over 45 and introducing healthcare sharing as a cost-effective alternative to traditional insurance, rooted in community and Christian values. The overarching message is that luxury isn’t about extravagance, but thoughtful design and intentional living.

Hello and welcome to the luxury podcast. My name is Jonathan Vernon Smith and with me is William
Hanson. This is the podcast that helps you live a more luxury life. Oh hello Jonathan and I are
here to help you create the everyday moments of luxury but make life worth living whatever your budget.
In each episode of the luxury podcast, William and I will tackle an area of life that we think you
should upgrade. Sorting the on's lows from the higher sense, advising the nation in gracious living.
So William, what are we going to talk about today? Lighting. Lighting. Okay. What an extensive topic.
Now where do we start? Where do we start? Well, let's start with how important lighting is
to create a luxury abode. Yes, because if you walk into somewhere, but let's take the
scenario for candlelight supper. Yes. Indeed candlelight. It's in the title. Exactly. It's a form of lighting.
Yes. If you walked into a dining room and it's bright, stark, overhead,
phosphorescent lighting, it's not going to put you in the best of moods. No, no, no, no.
Lighting, I would say, is one of the most important things to create a luxury atmosphere.
Yes. I mean, I've been to your house, but if I came over for a little swire,
tell us about the lights. What lights do you have? What lights do you not have on?
Okay, so the first thing for me, it's all about lamps, lamps, lamps. You love lamp. I love a lamp
and I would never ever have an overhead light on. No, ever. It's all about a nice subtle
lamp light with strategically placed candles to create that candlelit supper vibe. Do you know
what overhead lighting is good for though? Or looking for something that you've lost on the carpet.
Yeah, cleaning. And cleaning. Yes. And that's really the only time you should have it on.
You should only ever be in a room with the big light on, as I call it, if you've lost something
or if you are on your own. You're on your own? Well, I wouldn't ever put the big light on
in the presence of other people. No. Because. Why would you even need it on your own?
Because if you're trying to do something, like what? What do you need the big light on?
Well, sometimes it's just handy, isn't it? To put the big light on. Well, not at my age.
No, I was going to say, I mean, you're going to find this. And I mean, I'm only 45, so I'm. Let's just stop because that was a lot of our listeners taking a very sharp intake of breath.
Okay, well, there's no need to be so rude. But as you do get older, you will find that you'll
require the big light on more frequently because trying to see things, particularly reading things,
sometimes, you know, trying to look at which button I'm pressing on the remote control.
If you've dropped your word as original. The television, and it becomes more difficult. So,
sometimes you have to put the big light on. Okay. But it should only ever be an emergency thing to do.
Right. Don't do it normally, and never do it if someone else is in the room. Do you know what I
quite like to have lighting? When I am hoovering? Oh, yes. And I've got an illuminated vacuum cleaner,
so I think we've said before. I've got lights at the front. I turn all the lights off.
Because you can see more of the dust and the detritors that you're picking up off the floor
with all the lights off and just lighting up the floor with the front of the vacuum cleaner.
It's like a little rave in your house, isn't it? Yes, it is. Get my glow sticks out.
Yes, dark room, glowing vacuum cleaner.
Living life on the air. Suck, suck, suck.
I believe it all goes on.
What a derailleur in your house or in your vacuuming.
In a dark room.
Yes. Yes.
So, lamps, lamps, lamps. Let's move on to another room.
To be fair, a bathroom. Right.
You need the headlines on. I think a bathroom.
Well, yes, you do. Yes.
Yeah. I think that you could, if it was a sort of a, you're just going for the,
to the Lou, just to sort of, you know, sit down for a moment during a dinner party.
That's quite nice. Have a big candle in the bathroom, sort of pumping out some nice smell.
Yeah.
And some subtle lighting. That can be very nice.
Yes, that's what quite nice. I also believe in the bathroom.
As well as having your overhead lighting, you should always have an emergency guest light.
Oh.
Now, do you know what I mean when I say an emergency guest light? You do, but you might not realise
anything. Something in the corridor. No. So, I bought, and I've, I've
any of have found them in America. Oh.
So, the chances are they've got a huge tariff on them now.
But these lights, they plug into your shaver socket.
And they illuminate, they just glow in the bathroom from the shaver socket,
so that your guests can find the Lou in the night.
Yes. Okay. So, we, now, I've talked about this a few weeks ago, and I,
I talked upon it, and you didn't know what I meant. So, a lot of our light bulbs in our house,
they are new energy efficient, a rating, LED bulbs that are wirelessly controlled.
So, we can turn them on from a conventional light switch, but actually they're all Wi-Fi bulbs.
So, they connect to our Wi-Fi via a special bridge.
So, do you clap three times when the lights come on?
No, I think if we had a special plug in, we could do that.
Okay.
But we don't.
But I can talk to my smart speaker and say, "Oh, turn on the lights in the sitting room to 80 percent."
Oh.
Whatever.
That sounds a little bit dare I say it common.
Sounds a bit common.
I'm sorry.
Sounds a little bit new though reach.
I don't think it's new though reach. I think it's more environmentally friendly.
Shouldn't you have a nice lamp with a little chain that you pull to turn it on?
You can pull my chain to turn me on, but. What I thought, if I could just have my lunch.
But they're still when you pull the chain, it then turns it on and it's then connected to the Wi-Fi
and then you can adjust it on your phone or via the smart speaker and that sort of thing.
Right.
But in the hall, what we have after 10 o'clock at night when we're invariably in bed just before 10 o'clock.
If we then get up after 10 o'clock after reading, maybe, or, you know, 2 a.m. to go to the Lou.
There's a little sensor along the skirting board in the hall and it senses us
and it just turns the hall ceiling lights in the ceiling to 5%.
Always in that lovely way.
So just the hall is just illuminated just gently, but not enough to then let
light flooding into the bedroom to wake the other person up.
It's another lovely preparation for pond court, isn't it?
Because I presume in pond court, you'll have to have some kind of nighttime illumination
to help you find your grab rail.
Yes, probably.
Right, you.
So, you know, you can't leave the elderly in a pitch black.
No, you can't.
So that's what we have.
And then they stayed in until 7 a.m.
And then that's when, if it then senses motion after 7 a.m., it goes to full beam.
Wow, as it were.
Gosh, like cold it.
When you wake up in the morning, I figured early morning we. Yes, to be fair, when we're having a lie in on the weekend,
it can be a little bit.
So if you get up to the Lou.
The flood lights come on.
It's a bit severe and then we sort of rush to the switch to sort of turn them off.
Yes, yeah, lovely.
But that's what we have.
But all of our light bulbs, I would say other than the ones above the kitchen,
which also on a dimmer,
that all spend
Philips Hue. I'm going to say the brand name. We're not sponsored by them, but there. I said it. They're all Philips Hue.
Are they expensive bulbs?
They are initially, but I would say that we have had the same bulbs for about six years, and we haven't had to change them.
Now, of course, at some point you're looking to move to a luxury larger property.
Will you take your bulbs with you?
Yes. And replace them with cheap ones.
Cheap ones. Yeah.
Yeah, I've already thought about it.
I was going to say, don't leave those. Will you?
Oh, heavens, no. Well, they wouldn't really work because you have to have the bridge that plugs into your router.
Quite fun. You could turn them on for the new. You can't turn them on in the morning.
I tell you what I disagree with with lights.
What's that?
They have their special Wi-Fi bulbs, but they have ones you can buy two versions. One where you can do different shades of white.
Oh, you're going to say color, aren't you?
And ones where they turn them into blue and red.
Oh, that's disgusting.
Oh, yeah. A Lissera running a brothel.
Yes. Then there's absolutely no reason for any red coloured lights of a property.
I, in my luxury penthouse apartment with executive breakfast bar in Manchester, where I spent many of my formative years.
Yeah. I bought for the Amsterdam Hall on the console table.
I bought a lovely traditional lamp with a red lamp shade.
I had a white bulb and my mother hated it because she said it made it like a brothel.
Mmm. I thought it looked very smart.
Like a so-ho establishment.
Yes. Oh, Canal Street. Yes, Manchester Street.
Well, yes. Right.
Well, so there we go. We've done bathrooms.
Yeah. Have we done the kitchen? No, we haven't properly.
No. I'm a big believer in undercover lighting.
What? On the skirting boards?
No, no, no. No, under your cupboard, your eye level.
Oh, you had to illuminate the work surface.
The work surface. Yes, very rough.
And I like an illuminated interior of a cupboard as well with a glass door. Call me old-fashioned, but there you are.
Call you old-fashioned.
I do like. Not the word that came to mind.
I do like. I've got two illuminated cupboards in my kitchen.
Okay.
In one, I keep a glassware.
Oh, yes, you do.
My cup glassware?
My cup glass glassware.
And further again.
In the other one, I keep my china.
Including the Royal Dalton with a hand-painted Peruincoles.
Yes. Yes.
It's all in there, and I like it to be on show for my guests.
Yes. Okay.
It's also alarmed by a team of professionals.
There's a fine line between that and looking like a museum, isn't there?
To have an illuminated glass cabinet.
Yeah.
But have you ever thought my kitchen looks like a museum?
No.
Thank you.
No, but I've. I've wondered if you were going to hand me a hand set at one point, and I'll press 11 to listen to some commentary.
As I hear about the china collection.
Well, I'd like that. Maybe I should do that for my guests.
Yeah.
I think that would be lovely.
Should we go to one of the questions?
I think we should.
This is from the desk of Nathan Carter.
Hello, Chaps.
On the subject of lighting.
Are these new-fangled smart LED lights a status symbol?
Or is it just a tacky attempt at ostentation?
All the best, Nathan?
Well, I think you've answered that.
On your bike, Nathan.
A cheap attempt at ostentation.
No, but I think you have a lot more control over the settings.
We've all heard you say that, William, and we've all charged you accordingly.
Where is your normal dimmer?
I tell you what, I was in a meeting from the other day in London.
And they had lovely sort of chandelier lights.
And clearly, they had not put the right type of transformer in because they were slightly flicking.
Oh.
And what they needed was an AC/DC transformer.
But they had put in non-AC/DC bulbs.
Gosh, look at you.
If this etiquette malarkey dries up, you should open Hanson's Electrical.
Yes, Hanson lighting for better class premises.
I think that's a lovely idea.
There you go.
I would only do electrics executively.
I'm blowing your house up while you're at it.
Olivia Bennett has emailed us.
Dear William and Jonathan, how far is too far when it comes to lighting?
Is a chandelier a bit much?
Love the podcast is Olivia.
Oh, thank you so much.
Thank you very much.
I think a chandelier is fine, depending on the room.
I was going to say you have to have a big. High ceiling.
High ceiling.
High ceiling.
Yeah.
You can't have it in your average semi.
You can't.
No.
But you're laughing like that.
I mean, you can't.
You can't.
It does look naff.
Yes.
If you're in a two-up two-down, I mean the chandelier's ridiculous.
I'm going to tell you something that might surprise you.
No.
Do you know where I have always considered to be the best place for lighting?
The lighting.
Where?
They're no longer around.
Oh, is it a shop?
Yes.
Is it to source your lights?
Yes.
Not the D-word.
The D-word.
Doverlands.
No, not Devonams.
No.
But in fact, I say they're not around.
They are still around online only.
Habitat?
No.
Um, give me another clue.
British home stores.
Is it British home stores?
It's British home stores.
Yes.
Always were fabulous for lighting.
Yeah, a lot of my lights come from BHS.
And I believe they do still sell them online.
I don't think I've ever been in a BHS.
What?
No.
You've never been in a BHS.
I mean, you can't go in one now.
No.
Yeah.
That's so funny, because my friend Annabelle, you know Annabelle.
Lovely Annabelle.
She's never been in an Argos.
So there's you.
I don't think I have.
You've never been in an Argos.
No.
Where'd you buy your clothes, dryers?
Know what?
Your clothes, horse.
Don't lose.
What?
Where'd you buy yours?
Argos.
Argos.
Argos.
Didn't Annabelle on your. She used to do a radio programme with Annabelle.
Didn't she call them a theatre for the poor?
No.
I don't think she ever did.
She's not. Someone I know has called Argos theatre for the poor.
Yeah.
Because you sit there and you then watch your. In rows and you sort of watch your product come out, don't you?
I. I don't know anyone who would be that awful.
In my head, Annabelle calls me.
I don't know.
I. In my head, Annabelle called them a theatre for the poor.
She would not call them a theatre for the poor,
because she's not a dreadful ghastly snorkel.
No, but I think she was saying it with love.
No, she. No, she would never have said that.
Or. Whoever said it.
I've never been in a KFC.
Again, I don't think I've ever been in a KFC.
You've never been anywhere.
No.
I've never been to a BHS.
I can't believe you've never been to a BHS.
Surely in a KFC.
Because what. What's the big thing they sell in a KFC?
A bargain bucket.
It's a. If we. If we went in Jonathan,
it would be a bargain bouquet.
A bargain bouquet.
Yes.
Maybe we should go in one day.
We should do an episode of the luxury podcast
where we go to an argos
and then have a candlelit supper in a KFC.
Yes.
How about that?
Producer Oliver's writing that down.
Carrying a light from BHS.
Our own table.
Anyway, tell me what I do like about new lighting innovations.
Is that quite like the USB rechargeable light
that people sometimes have?
Restaurants have them allotted instead of candles on tables.
But you can buy them.
I'll say the brand.
They're not sponsoring us.
Pookie.
Have you ever been a pookie light person?
No, I know.
I haven't.
Oh, you need to browse your pookie
because they do very good lights.
Are they similar to my dog's collar
that illuminates and flashes down a dark country lane?
They're a little bit more at market.
But they're sort of their free standing.
And they last for hours.
And you just charge them on USB.
Oh.
And they should just stand there.
No cables, nothing.
Lots of range of lights, pookie lights.
Right.
Have a look.
I'll check them out.
Yeah.
And you can put them in places where, you know, they're on socket.
So you need to illuminate a dark corner in your room.
Oh.
They can be very nice.
What a good idea.
Yeah.
I'll look them up.
Have a look.
Oh, I'd better get back.
It's bound to be someone very, very important.
We'll be back momentarily.

Could I just issue a formal retraction?
I have Annabelle's lawyers been on to you.
Yes, I do not think that Annabelle ever called Angos the theatre for the poor.
No, she did not.
Either privately or in public.
Okay.
And I think I have misremembered that.
Good.
In fact, Annabelle loves Angos.
She's never not in them now.
I'm sure she's stood down the lawyers as we speak.
You say to Annabelle, "What would you prefer this evening?"
You can either go to the Royal Opera House or Angos, she always picks Angos.
Always Angos.
Always Angos.
I apologise and I misspoke.
Yes.
We're talking about lighting.
Yeah.
How to have the nicest possible lighting.
We've done the bathroom.
Yeah.
I think we've kind of done the living room or sitting room.
Yes.
We haven't done the garden or the Alfresco area.
You've been for stewed.
I have been for stewed.
My brother for stewed me.
I've got beautiful outside lighting.
Was your brother able to go into the garden or did it trigger him in any way?
Oh, what?
In case I set fire to him.
Yes.
He was fine.
Okay.
He was absolutely fine.
But he, in fact, he's done a lot of lighting for me.
So not only did he install my Alfresco fest dune lighting, which now, to be honest, it's
a bit bright.
Oh.
It's slightly concerned.
Are they not dimmable?
No.
The planes that he threw airport might mistake my garden for runway three, the new runway
three.
Surely they're you.
Oh.
You'll have a plane from falloraki down in your garden.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Oh, right.
It's just my garden.
Yes.
It's my garden.
Whiz there.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
No flag carrier in your garden.
Actually, I'll have you know the most private jetsland luthier near port.
Do they fall off?
Yeah, you could be out there and someone
Alan should have turned up. Oh, Alan, what kept you?
So I've got festoon lighting and I've also had, I think I told you before, did I tell you my brother had illuminated my Alfresco kitchen?
Yes, you've got nice down lights. I've got three Alfresco down lights now. So I can always, no matter what time the day or night, or even sometimes first thing in the morning at the weekend, I want to
look up the bacon and eggs Alfresco, then I just put my light on and I'm illuminated.
Can we talk about something else you have underneath of the student lighting, which are they common? Are they not? I think potentially they're becoming less common.
Oh, you're talking about my, um, my fire pit, my gas fire pit, yeah, integrated in the corner sofa area. Yeah, yeah, discuss.
Oh, are you, oh, okay, hang on a minute. So are you going to criticize my, no, no, no, no, I'm posing the question.
No, no, no, no, I'm posing the question. Are, are they still common or have they become acceptable? And I mean that nicely, I'm saying that with love.
Okay, why don't you kick us off with your view, William? I thought they were very nice. I thought it was very nice. It kept me nice and warm.
That's the point of them. Yes. So I agree with you. I think there is, to be honest, there's something a little bit common about gas.
Oh, I think it's the least executive energy source.
Bucketheads were stringing this out as much as we can.
No, I'm being serious. What would you prefer? I do. If you think about gas, gas fire, yeah, common.
It's true, though, isn't it? Yeah, it is. Gas fire, common. Gas barbecue. I've got one common.
Common. Yeah. True. Boiler. What, what? I think we've got a convie. Oh, what's that? Where does that stand?
Look, he's face suddenly changed. Rotsie realised that he might be carbon. We didn't put it in. What the comp, you got it? Yeah.
The boiler was there when we moved it. But surely you would accept that a more luxury heating source would be a coal fire dog.
Oh, of course. Yes. Even though I think that's quite bad for the environment.
Yeah. Oh, yes. Yeah. Electric. But then so is your gas convie as well?
I have to break it to you. Yeah. I'm afraid they are. Okay. Yes.
So I can you remember about a few months ago when you thought when I said sorry, Gresheren, you thought Gresheren was my car dealer?
I do remember that. Yeah. But no, back to gas. Yeah. So gas is a bit common in terms of energy source. It is a little bit common.
Okay. So to have a gas fire pitch in the middle of your table, probably is. Have you ever toasted smalls?
If I what? Toasted smalls. What's that? What's a small?
Well, you get a gram cracker and a marshmallow and you put them together and you sort of toasted it over the fire.
The Americans like doing it. But I wondered whether you'd use your fire pit to toast smalls. No, because I don't want bits of marshmallow dripping into my artificial stones.
True. You know, the gas licks up through the artificial stones. You're almost splattered.
No. Okay. She's. Yeah. What other detritors do you? Well, not cheese. You don't put cheese on a gram cracker.
Well, I don't know what your plan is to do. But the whole point of the fire pit is that it does just emit a nice summer evening warmth.
Yes. We've all been there in the United Kingdom where you've had a lovely alfresco evening and then suddenly the temperature drops.
And everybody starts to get a little bit cold. Now, if you're hosting a truly luxury evening, that's when you bring out freshly-laundered blankets for your guests.
You light the gas fire pit and everyone just luxuriates in the warmth, the evening warmth. Yes. That's how to end an evening in a classy way.
You came over once for dinner and with some other guests, and we sat outside on our terrace. I mean, it was slightly, I can't remember if it was COVID or not. It may not have been.
But I had that sort of, what some people will have patio heater. I call it a terrace lamp.
I do remember that now. And that was you are in, I'd forgotten about that. And you've got an absolute low in cheek.
You've got a cheek to pick on my gas fire pit when you brought out. I was gifted it.
Well, I'm sure I've seen them in the range. You brought out this kind of, it was on a stand. Yup.
And it had a kind of heater element like a light. It was, it was a bit like, you know when elderly ladies go to the hairdresser and they put their head into that kind of hairdryer thing.
Yeah. So that one of those for the patio, wasn't it, really?
Terrace. Yeah. It was common as much, but, but it was much needed because it was chilly. It was chilly. Yes. And didn't we warm up nicely?
We did, yeah. But please tell me normally you, you keep that thing hidden.
Oh, yes, it's under under a, like a sack. Basically, he put a, a big black, sort of, not bin liner.
Oh, you put a bin liner on it? How? We're really getting a, a real, a real impression of your alfresco terrace.
It's, it's for safety because it shouldn't have water in it. So you don't want it out when there's rain.
It's electric. Yeah. So you put a sort of waterproof sort of, sort of, sink over it that it came with.
Okay. So let's play a little game. Yeah. What's more common?
My gas fire pit or your electric free-standing, plastic heater.
Um, I think probably my, look, my brother gave it to me. Oh, oh, I'm sorry. I love it.
Yeah. And I love my brother. I don't set him a light. Oh, no. Did James buy that for you?
Yeah, he did. Yeah. What happened to him? But he, there was a period of his teenage years where he went through a phase of wearing a white belt.
Haha. The white belt years. Yeah. Oh, yeah. He regrets it now. But yeah. Yeah, he got a common.
So alfresco, alfresco lights, I literally, I'm looking at this, I'm thinking we've talked about everything. Oh, no, we haven't.
No, we haven't talked about electricians. Why, why do you want to talk about electricians?
Or do you have a good electrician or not? You have a reliable electrician. I do have a reliable electrician when he remembers.
What do you mean? I was in a, you book him and he just forgets to turn off. He's a little forgetful, but I went to school with my electrician.
Oh, did you? Yes, I did. So I know him well enough to send him and text and say, "Oh, you've forgotten me."
Oh, right. Okay. Fair enough. I had an electrician round only a couple of months ago to change, to change a light bulb.
You didn't. You literally had someone round to check. Why would you do that?
So I tell you what happened, it was at a time of year where previously I've had rats in the roof and a light bulb in the study.
Here we go. Went and I had heard some rustling in the ceiling admittedly only very briefly and not conclusively a creature.
So I assumed a rat chewed through a cable and that's why the light and the bulb had only been changed fairly recently.
Right. Had not had broken and this was not a not a special Wi-Fi bulb. This was a conventional bulb.
And what I did not want to do is in the ceiling, I did not want to pull.
the light bulb down, and have a old ratty sticky's head out, or a dead one dropped down.
All rat droppings, either way, I would have been dead. Right.
So I thought, because they've clearly conclusively, in my, I've never done any electrical work or
qualification, I thought, well, it's chewed through. It's chewed through the cable. So I've
put in a call to turn it on Tim, my electrician. Turn it on Tim. Turn it on Tim, the electrician.
Turn it on Tim came round, change the bulb, and charge me 75 hours. And I felt very, very, very,
very, very, very silly. I think I would have tried to change the bulb first.
Yeah, but again, I didn't, it's that fear that I've got. So I'm just like, well, I'd rather,
I appreciate, actually, he had put his rates up, but, um, yeah, he's quite expensive,
isn't he? I'll turn it on Tim London. Right. Yeah. Anyway, he was like, can I do anything else
whilst I'm here? He was good. He realized that I paid him for the hour. So anyway, he couldn't.
My electrician's called Errol. What would you, uh, what would you name him?
Amp it up Errol? Amp it up Errol? I'm sure he'll love that. Yeah. And you're at school with him.
Yes, I was. Yes. Okay. Well, there we go. How lovely you kept in touch.
Were you not at school with anyone who's now an electrician? No.
I think one of them is governor of the bank of England, but, uh, really? No, I don't know.
Right. Well, no one has become, well, as far as I know, no one's. At my school, we had an array of
people with an array of skills. That's good. What was your skill at school? Um, well,
should we go to this one from Leo. Well, I think Leo Gibson, we've answered this,
but William and Jonathan, do you like one big light to light a room? Or is it better to have
smaller one or two in the corner? Smaller. We haven't talked about lighting on the staircase.
Oh, now I have seen and it's got to that is for the elderly. Sorry? No, staircase lighting. Unless
you're in maybe a hotel or you're in. No, I think you can have some very, very nice staircase
lighting. It has to be done well, but strategically, but if you get these little lights that kind of
illuminate the steps, every other step of your staircase, it can look terribly smart, quite devilish.
You're not with me, are you? No, I'm not with you at all. Oh, okay. No, it can look nice.
Okay. You'll show you a photo. Yeah, you're not illuminating on yourself. I'm not. No, no,
I have to be rewired. Yes. Yeah, you would. Also, we should talk about the color of your light bulb.
Obviously, the only really real color we've touched upon this should be white or off white,
but there is a difference between a harsh white and a warm white, isn't there? Yes. How many are
your favourite lumens? 40. 40. I don't know. I'm just plucking a number out at random.
Does that make any sense? Okay, so I'm just showing you a photo of
some staircase lighting. You must admit that's very smart. So they're little in sort of every other
step. There's a little up light actually pointing upwards. Yeah, so you can either have them
up lit or you can have them side lit. Yeah, I mean, in MikaNos, that might be nice. Hang on a minute.
Have you just been sick in your mouth? I don't. I don't. In the right place, in a sort of a
swanky New York apartment, just off, you know, central park, might look quite nice. Yeah.
Not so much in Bournemouth. I don't live in Bournemouth. No, I wasn't saying that, but yeah,
I was just picking a generic sort of nondescript town. Right. Well, I think it can look rather nice.
And I think it can give a staircase. Look at that staircase. I'm showing really
in another photo of what I would consider to be a very atmospheric staircase. It's got an atmosphere.
If I had a staircase like that, I'd spend all day wafting up and down there.
Well, just to enjoy the lighting. This is lovely. Okay. Well, I think we'll have to agree to
disagree. Yes. Well, what an illuminating episode this has been. It has been
scintillating and so useful. Incredibly, incredibly. I can see clearly now. Should we call it a day?
I think so, yes. I think it's more than enough luxury for this episode. We'll be back tomorrow
for another wonderful bonus episode. And of course, do look out for us next Wednesday for the
main episode as well, where we'll be discussing the workplace. Oh, indeed. See you then. Bye-bye.
