Let’s Not Meet… Listener Stories Edition || r/LetsNotMeet || Ghosteas Tea Party #115
63m 15s
The transcription combines commercial advertisements with a podcast episode featuring listener-submitted stories that blur the line between true crime and paranormal encounters. The hosts, Macy and Natalie, introduce the segment by encouraging listeners to share unsettling experiences, and they read several tales over tea. The stories range from a woman encountering a digging figure that flees from light and disappears, to another who sees a blood-covered man in a car with no trace later, and a child's eerie claim about a body in a closet. Other narratives include a woman facing a hostile mother-in-law during a bachelorette trip, a psychic meeting a floating man with empty eyes resembling Steve Jobs, and a listener who spots a pale face at a window and later a slow-moving figure that accelerates upon eye contact. The hosts react with fear and humor, offering theories about each case, such as possible supernatural entities or mundane explanations like squirrels. They also include palate cleansers, like photos of animals, to lighten the mood. The episode ends with a reminder to send in more stories, subscribe, and join their Patreon, while the ads interspersed promote KFC deals, BJ's membership, and TXU Energy plans, creating a blend of entertainment and commercial content.

Hi, Ghosties.
I'm Macy.
And I'm Natalie.
And when we had suggestions to read through r slash Let's Not Meet,
which also will come, we will do it later.
I promise.
Yes.
Yes.
I thought it would be a lot more interesting to turn to you guys for some of these stories.
So a few weeks ago, I made a call to action for you to send me your Let's Not Meet stories.
I wanted to hear about those encounters where you had to run in with possible true crime
or maybe an attempt at committing a crime or maybe even something you're on the fence about.
Maybe it's. You're not sure.
Maybe it was a person.
Or maybe it was paranormal.
I'm really excited.
I kind of forgot this is what we were recording today.
Yeah.
I'm very excited for this too.
I'm actually so locked in.
So today, we're telling those stories.
Stories that sit in that in-between space.
We had many sent in to us that made it hard to pick.
There were so many.
But I think you'll enjoy this wild story time.
Oh, I know I will.
I'm ready.
Our tea today, Arnie and Sons, Imperial Earl Grey.
Give me an Earl Grey any day.
I will say a classic.
I find myself. When we record after work for me, I always want just a comfort.
And this is what Earl Grey is for me.
A comfort.
It is.
All right.
No more yapping.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Our first story today comes from Callie.
Hi, guys.
Love your show.
I'm now a Patreon member and I'm loving the extra episodes available there.

We've got like 15 episodes, bonus episodes lined up.
Yeah.
I appreciate you guys so much.
I already sent this story a while ago, but I was watching the Bigfoot episode and Macy
said she's making a shadow people in the dark, let's not meet style episode.
And I realized this is perfect.
So I'm resending it.
This happened about a year ago and it has made a lot of the stories you guys tell on
your podcast feel much more close to home and scary.
I don't like that.
No.
Already.
I know.
My name is Callie.
I live in a rural part of New Southwest.
I'm from Wales, Australia, and I'm 27 years old, 26 at the time of this story.
I was over at my friend's house where we had been watching anime late into the night.
We do this quite often and I've never had anything happen until this time.
I haven't been back to his house since this happened.
We hang out at my house instead to this day.
It was around two in the morning and it's currently really cold here right now.
The temperature at the time was two degrees Celsius and I hadn't really felt it until
I stepped out of the house because we had been cuddled up on the couch sharing my thickest
feather-down blanket, which I had brought from my house.
My friend saw me out the door and went straight back inside and shut the door because he was
wearing only a t-shirt and jeans.
His apartment is a second-floor apartment and the stairs leading up to it are steep
and narrow, meaning I have to be careful not to fall while using the stairs in my heeled
boots.
He also doesn't have an outdoor light.
I turned on my phone light to make sure I didn't fall down the stairs and walked down.
Perhaps because I was distracted by keeping my feet under me on the stairs, it wasn't
until I had reached the very bottom and was standing on the bare dirt path that I was
able to hear it.
It was the sound of something digging in the dirt, only a stone's throw from where I stood.
It was the sound of something moving the dirt with one hand, then the other.
Repeatedly, or at least that's what I immediately pictured upon hearing it.
It couldn't have been more than 30 meters away, right at the fence line which runs across
that side of the apartment block.
I paused.
A sense of intense unease and dread came over me, and I could feel whatever it was staring
me down.
I rationalized that it must be some wild,
or a dog, or something.
It was 2am and pitch dark, so I must be talking myself into being afraid, right?
It must be an Australian bush-tailed possum.
But then I thought, that's too big to be a possum.
So it's a big dog then.
I was about to brush off that feeling of dread and walked to my car, probably about 10 meters
from me, when the digging noise stopped and then I heard footsteps walking towards me.
Heavy, human-sounding footsteps.
I turned my phone light towards the sound suddenly,
and the person, or whatever it was, stumbled backwards frantically, avoiding the light as
though it might burn them.
I stood stock still, trying to see even a shadow of something in the heavy darkness,
my breath coming in bursts, misting in the frigid air.
Did I run back up the stairs and risk turning my back on it?
Or just go to my car?
The car was closer than my friend's doorway and on level ground, so I began to walk slowly
toward my car, sidestepping, never turning my back on the thing in the dark.
The entire time, I could feel its eyes.
Still burning into me.
My heart was pounding.
I reached the car and hit the unlock button on my key fob, trying desperately to see whatever
it was that I was now having a standoff with in the flash from the blinkers, but I couldn't
see anything.
I chucked my blanket and bag in, scrambled to get inside, and locked the doors behind
me.
I had to reverse towards whoever or whatever it was in the driveway, and though the reverse
lights illuminated the entire fence and yard as I reversed in that direction, there was
nobody and nothing there on my reverse camera.
Not even a shadow.
Hey.
Oh well.
Back it up.
I'll tell you, one of my biggest fears is reversing at night and seeing someone in my
camera.
Why would you say that?
It is one of my top, like, top five.
It's one of my top fears, but I try not to think about it because I'll throw up.
Back when I had to park behind your house in your old house, every time I had to back
up in the night after a recording, I was like, "Please, please, please, please, please."
Sometimes I didn't look.
I'm like, "Whoever's back there, hope you're okay."
Good luck.
Yep.
Yep.
Because why are you behind my car at 11:00 PM?
Why are you covering the camera?
Oh my gosh.
If a person were the source of the sound, they would have to sprint to get away
that quickly.
And the only exit was down the driveway, right past the car.
So I would have seen and heard them.
I wonder what the being would have done if I hadn't shown my light towards it.
Oh my gosh.
Why was it walking towards me?
How did it disappear?
Why was it afraid of the light?
Thank you in advance for reading this on the show if you do read it, and I hope you're
having a lovely day.
Love, Kelly.
you pulled out the phone and you could barely get the flashlight on before it stumbled that's a
person because an animal or you know something like that is not gonna know that you're pulling
out your phone and it's like oh i don't want to see the light you know what i mean yeah they're
not gonna have the the thought of that well unless it's like deer in headlights kind of situation
where a light suddenly shines into the darkness and they're like but callie didn't even see it
enough you know with the light turning on they just saw like a shadow figure stumble so yeah
i don't know to me that says creepy person i agree but what were they digging for i don't know
i don't know also and i also don't want to know quick palate cleanser they sent in a picture of
a bushtail possum oh my gosh a cute little creature that's really cute they just have
those roaming around just roaming that's so cute you get that and then you also get massive spiders
and kangaroos that'll fight you yeah australia i want to go i was
literally talking about this today i want to go so bad but i am deathly afraid of like spiders and
snakes man yeah and i just i won't be able to keep it cool stay in the cities i won't even i won't be
able to keep it cool but i would love to go one day me too kelly said they're about the size of a
large house cat and they love banana you can feed them pieces of it by hand if they know you that's
so cute i don't want to feed pieces of banana to possums here me too no not you said you don't i
mean there i would like to do that have you seen the place i don't remember where it's at but it's
like the deer that bow at you no oh my gosh to get food you walk up to them and you bow and they bow
at you it's like they trust the people i don't know it's really cute you gotta look it up okay
i will bowing deer adding to the list if you ask me august is the perfect time for a reset school

comes from Sarah. Hey, ghosty girlies. Hope you've been well. I have a story that I hope fits what
you're looking for. Before I get into it, I need to explain two things. One, a couple of years after
this happened, I learned about something called. Dorsal Vega Shutdown. It's where something happens that something is so overwhelming,
you surpass the fight or flight response, and your body moves straight to protection mode,
which is a freeze or collapse state. It's sort of like a real-time amnesia where your brain
literally cannot fully process or comprehend what's happening. I'm pretty sure that's what
happened to me. Second thing, in order to get to my work, you have to take a frontage road at one
point. This happened on the somewhat secluded frontage road where there is a fenced barrier
separating the road from the highway on the left.
And to the right is a dense forest. Now to the story. It was early in the morning and I had just
turned onto the frontage road. Off to the right side of the road sat a car. This surprised me
because there's signs all over stating no parking at any time. The thing is, the driver's window was
completely smashed in, with blood covering the remaining glass. And a guy in his 30s was just
sitting there, covered in blood. Oh my gosh. Like I said, as I was seeing it, my brain was just kind
of like, oh, that's weird. La la la, keep driving.
I literally didn't think anything about it until I got to work. Sat down at my desk and realized,
wait a second, was there really an injured man covered in blood sitting on the side of the road?
To this day, I don't know what I saw. I almost thought about calling the police,
but then my mind started to race. What if it was a serial killer or a murderer and they'd found out
I called the police and I'd be in danger somehow? Or worse, what if I called the police, they came
out and found nothing? I could barely remember anything, so they'd be looking for a needle in
a haystack based on my foggy memory. I couldn't remember anything. I couldn't remember anything,
I waited to see if anyone else at work mentioned seeing it. No one did. On the way home, I slowed
down where the car had been parked. The weird thing is, I didn't see tire marks in the gravel
nor the grass. In the following days, I scoured the news for word of a car accident on that
stretch of road or maybe a hit and run or a murder in the area or something. There was nothing. And
to this day, I still don't know what I saw. Did I even see anything at all or was I just tired
and imagined it? Did a bird or something crash into the guy's window as he drove and he got to the car?
He got cuts from the glass and that's why he was covered in blood? Was it more nefarious and he had
been shot? Or was it some kind of weird time slip? Or I saw a ghost or something? The only reason I
think maybe I was seeing things or it was otherworldly was because there really should
have been visible tire marks and tracks in the grass and gravel. What do you think? I hope this
story was the type you were looking for. Be safe. Hope you're staying cool in this brutal heat.
XOXO Sarah. I'm sweating. Thank you, Sarah. I am.
Um, so at first I was like, call the police. Like, what do you mean? Yeah. But if everyone
has to pass that road and nobody else said anything, it really makes me question if it
was actually there. That kind of thing would be like top of the gossip pool. Oh, I'd walk in first
thing. Did y'all see that? Yeah. Or I'd be like, oh, sorry, I was late. I stopped to call and give
them all the information, you know? Yes. So that's, that's the part that really makes me think,
what is going on? Yeah. Because at first my, obviously my first initial thought was
crime. You saw a crime or a wreck, you know, like you just saw that. But I don't know. I think
my first initial thought besides that is maybe it's like a residual type thing or, you know,
something like that. I would be interested to know if you could find any information on that
area of past accidents, past crimes. Yeah. Or, I mean, it, it could have been, I mean, minus the,
lack of gravel and, or tire tracks in the gravel and grass. Maybe someone got into a minor little
fender bender or something, broke the glass somehow. I don't know. Covered in blood? A minor
fender bender? Well, I mean, if you get cut on your head, you're going to be covered because
your blood, your blood, your head bleeds profusely. That's true. That's true. So maybe something
weird happened and they were able to drive themselves home and it wasn't a big deal. But
I don't know. It's very weird. I really don't know. That's really scary. I have the opposite of this
where if I see something slightly mysterious, I go on the notes app on my phone and I type
the date, the time, and I give a full description and I keep it for like a year or two. I saw a man
the other day, very suspiciously covered in water coming out of a deep wooded area on the side of
the road. I don't know. It felt weird to me. And I said, I'm going to write that down in case. And
he was holding like a small blanket, like a kid's blanket. So it felt very,
it felt nefarious. Nothing has happened. But I have the description. I also have a description
of a man in a car that I saw parked behind because there was construction at one point
somewhere in town a long time ago, probably like three years ago now. He was parked behind these
big gravel mounds that they were had to the side because they were doing the construction. Yeah.
Parked back there and I was like, what are you doing? And so I wrote down all that,
all that stuff. I didn't call. Interesting. I just have it in case the police come looking.
I'm paranoid. I like that.
You do this. I'm very paranoid.
That's an interesting tidbit about you that I didn't know.
Because I'm very bad at.
You're the kind of neighbor that's like peeking out your windows and like writing down like
suspicious car drove through at 6.02 PM.
I stay out of things unless it is something severe that I need to intervene and I feel
safe intervening. Yeah.
I'm taking notes.
You know what? You remind me of a person we worked with.
The one that would bring their police scanner to work.
I knew you were about to say that. I don't have a police scanner.
But I just take notes in case detectives come asking one day. I can be like, actually,
I did see something weird. They could deputize you.
Because I can never, I would never be able to remember when and what and what they looked like.
Because right now I can't tell you what the guy coming out of the woods looked like,
but I wrote it down in my phone. Yeah.
For if I need it. He probably.
So sorry, that was really off topic, but that's spooky.
It is spooky. My guess is that man was probably just like hanging out in the creek.
I don't know.
And maybe he had like a baby blanket is what really made me go.
Maybe he was with his dog. You just didn't see it was falling behind him in the woods.
Maybe. Hopefully.
I would hope it out. I would hope.
But yeah, Sarah, I don't know.
My initial instinct, mostly because I am steeped in ghostly lore, is do some research on the area.
Maybe you can find a previous accident or crime or something that maybe matches the description.
Otherwise, your guess is as good as mine, I guess.
It's very spooky.
I agree.
I like the idea of a time slip, though.
Sorry to carry on, but I love the idea of a time slip.
Yeah.
Our next story comes from an unsigned listener.
So it's anonymous.
Ooh, even creepier.
Hi, ghosties.
I've been listening to your podcast for up to about a year, and I absolutely love it.
I don't have many paranormal encounters, but when you asked for maybe paranormal, maybe true crime,
I couldn't resist sending you the one that came.
When I was about 10 years old, my family moved down to Tennessee and started touring houses.
My parents used to take me and my siblings along for the tours because I don't think they had anything else to do with us.
One house we toured was very old.
I remember the floors creaking and a heavy feeling in my chest.
While exploring the home, I noticed one of my brothers had wandered off, and so I went looking for him.
While calling his name, he came walking out of one of the bedrooms down the long main hallway of the house.
I asked him why he'd wandered off, and without answering,
he looked up at me and said,
There's a body in the closet.
He was about four years old and had never done or said anything like this before,
and still even to this day, he has not.
I did not check the closet because I decided I wanted to leave,
and I told my mom I really didn't like this house and really wanted to get out of here.
Me and my brother never talked about it after or talked to any of our siblings.
Whenever I think about that house, I get an uneasy feeling.
I think we both just wanted to forget it, especially him.
I'm going to lose my mind after I just went on my 30-minute rant about I'm writing documents.
every detail for the detectives later oh i mean obviously you were a kid so a child whatever but
10 years old oh my gosh i would probably do the same thing i'd probably be so scared i wouldn't
want to see currently right now i wouldn't want 30 years old if my four-year-old came up to me
and said mother there's a body in the closet i would say come on son we're leaving i might call
the police because i am an adult and you couldn't do that when you were 10 but yeah um i just hey
police i didn't see it for myself but there might be a body just in case oh my gosh and you know
what if you did call or tell the realtor at least yeah if you did call the cops about that they'd
probably tell you to go check because that one time i had that interaction on the road oh yeah
where that girl ran off they said is she breathing is she alive i said why are you asking me i don't
know and i was having a full panic attack with the guy on the line going ma'am stay calm everything
was fine by the way yeah she was okay but
still don't put me in that situation man i would have jumped out of my skin this though this story
is is going to be one of those that'll stick with me just like yeah what's in the box you know like
yeah i want to know give us the address please anonymous please do if you know it if you can
recall at least the neighborhood we can sleuth around our next story though comes from lydia
hi ladies my name is lydia and i'm a huge listener of the pod i discovered y'all in the fall of last
year and ever since then you've been my go-to for just about everything whether i'm
cleaning doing homework sitting at work driving or just hanging out in my room chances are i'm
listening to one of your episodes thank you i love a work listener still company time
i used to listen to podcasts and youtube constantly at work as i'm writing this i'm
listening to the new bigfoot episode and thanks to your call to action i finally worked up the
courage to share two of the creepiest experiences i've ever had i'm a sophomore in college now but
my first story happened when i was in seventh grade behind my neighborhood is a school building
leading up to it it's one of my family's favorite places to walk because it's usually quiet and
peaceful one evening around dusk my dad and i decided to take our dog frank for a walk while
we were making our way down the road we spotted a coyote near the tree line coyotes aren't unusual
where we live but we wanted to make sure frank didn't decide to start anything love that name
for a dog i truly do frank was already growling so i was focused on keeping him under control
when i noticed movement coming from the trees it was a woman
i don't remember many details about her appearance now except that she was incredibly pale
the tree line she emerged from sits in front of a row of houses and a small hill
so my first thought was that she must have been a neighbor even so i remember feeling intensely
uncomfortable the moment i saw her as we kept walking she slowly made her way up the hill
until she reached the road where we were then she started walking towards us looking back she wasn't
doing anything overtly threatening but something about her presence and her presence was so
deeply unsettling i remember repeatedly asking my dad if we could cross to the other side of the
road because i felt so uneasy just as he was about to agree the woman suddenly stopped she stood
there for a moment turned around walked back down the hill and disappeared into the exact same spot
in the trees where she had first appeared that was it nothing dramatic happened but the encounter
left a lasting impression on me to this day i can't explain why it disturbed me so much maybe
there was a perfectly orderly way of doing it but i didn't know what was going on and i didn't know
but i remember having nightmares about it for weeks afterward and it's still one of the strangest
things i've ever witnessed oh that's horrifying for the dad to be like yeah let's move yeah and
i mean we say this all the time like trust your gut if something feels off it is and even if it
isn't i would rather be safe than sorry i'd rather be the crazy person that's like i'm afraid of this
person then encounter them and something go wrong yeah i agree and i mean listen to your gut also i
would never be able to walk past that whole area again because she jumps out not by yourself well
at least she was down the hill but still you can't go down the hill she starts running out of the
trees sorry that just made my stomach drop crazy visual yeah that was gross oh my gosh i'm sorry
just made my stomach drop i haven't had dinner i feel unwell i'm very sorry but that is very
very spooky my second story is much more recent a few weeks ago i was home alone i'd just gotten
out of the shower and was singing along to some k-pop well my second story is much more recent
making my bed the rest of my family was out running errands and i had the house completely
to myself for some context the doors in my house are old whenever someone comes in through the
front door the change in air pressure makes my bedroom door rattle it's a sound i've heard my
entire life so i can immediately tell when someone has come home while i was in my room my door
suddenly rattled almost immediately afterward i heard what sounded exactly like a car door
slamming outside naturally i assumed my family had returned home a few minutes passed and i didn't
hear anything
hear any voices footsteps or movement downstairs thinking it was strange i looked outside nothing
no cars in the driveway no one was walking toward the house i immediately texted my sister and asked
if they had stopped by and left again nope they hadn't been home at all in fact they hadn't even
left the store yet that's when i started to get nervous as i sat there trying to make sense of it
i began hearing what sounded like footsteps or movement downstairs at first i tried to tell
myself it was just the house settling but i didn't know what was going on and i didn't know
what was happening but the sounds seemed deliberate enough that i couldn't shake the feeling that
someone else was there now i'm a christian and i firmly believe in the power of prayer
while i don't claim to know exactly what was happening i do believe that spiritual forces
exist and that god protects us so instead of continuing to panic i prayed i rebuked whatever
might have been there in the name of jesus christ and asked it to leave i prayed for peace and
protection over my home almost instantly the feeling of fear lifted the house felt normal
again the sounds stopped
whether there was a natural explanation or something more i honestly can't say
i only know that the overwhelming sense that something was wrong disappeared the moment i
prayed i have plenty more stories where those came from so if you'd ever like to hear more i'd be happy
to send them in also here's a photo of frank to help combat the bad vibes after all of that
i know he's so i love this is it i know he's so ferocious oh okay show me ferocious frank
i'd love that people are sending in like a little palate cleanser photo of an animal this is
frank that is a dog named frank that is the frankiest frank i've ever seen frank i would
have called him frank anyway that is the perfect name he's so cute he's really cute and ferocious
very ferocious oh my gosh i love a human name on a dog i love a greg say oh my god bill you know
dog named greg yes i also do it's so funny to me cute stan stan something like that feels more
doggy i need like a a robert you know what i mean something real official you should have named pd
peter well he's called peter a lot so that's true but to lydia's second story i don't i mean whether
it was a real person or not i feel like when you're praying for protection or doing whatever
you do that the ritual you do that brings you protection in your life i feel like it it can
not always like i mean if you're being attacked by a vicious killer please
do not just like stop and pray and hope that it helps like run and find the police but like i feel
like it can ward off evil in like the human form too in some circumstances okay like you think it
can make someone change their mind like even if it's just like they get this feeling like oh maybe
i should leave something you know like they get the like a fear and they're like you know what
i'm not gonna do this i don't know i feel like there there can be spiritual intervention in
things like that so i'm open to it i find that story interesting whether it was spiritual or not
you know i didn't
even think about it that way because i was i kind of even had the thought of if it's a real person
and you're up there praying like they're still coming for you girl but the fact that they prayed
and felt better it's like okay okay okay okay it makes it it made me feel more like it was
something of the an entity of the scary realm you know it felt more like that than a person because
if it was a person and they were truly there looking around for something or looking for you
yeah they were going to keep going
so to me that feels more spirity spirity and it could be i just find the notion in interesting
that like you're praying for protection or casting a spell of protection or doing whatever you do for
your you know to protect yourself and maybe spiritual intervention gets them down there
they're like i don't know something overcomes them maybe they see a ghost maybe maybe they
feel something in their gut like i should leave something's not right here themselves you like
counteract them i like that i don't know that's interesting maybe i'm crazy it's a thought i've

here i've been listening to you for what feels like forever you girls are my comfort show and
i'm currently on my third rewatch slash relish listen of every episode thank you thank you oh
my gosh special shout out to the paranormal games episodes they're my absolute favorites
This is my first time writing in, and while I'm a total skeptic, I think the ghosts know that because they never bother visiting me, Macy asks for more true crime stories, and I actually have one.
To set the scene, I live in an apartment building where my front door is directly next to my neighbor's.
We're the only two apartments on our floor, so if anything happens outside my door, I'm basically involved whether I like it or not.
One evening, around 11pm, I was doing absolutely nothing exciting, just getting ready for bed.
When I nearly launched myself through the ceiling because of a series of incredibly loud bangs, right outside my front door.
Naturally, because my survival instincts are apparently broken and curiosity always wins, I immediately opened the door to see what was going on.
Standing there were several police officers wearing face coverings.
Like the absolute dork that I am, my first response wasn't to panic, it was to ask, uh, is everything okay?
One officer.
That's my favorite.
Trying to be casual.
One officer.
One officer looked at me and said, yes ma'am, go back inside.
Fair enough, didn't have to tell me twice.
Except I absolutely wasn't going to mind my own business.
I quietly closed the door, immediately glued my eyes to the people, and became the world's nosiest neighbor.
From my tiny spy hole, I watched officer after officer rush into the apartment while shouting, hands up and on your knees.
At this point, I was convinced I was watching a live episode of Criminal Minds.
More officers arrived, including some in regular uniforms.
Then came a man carrying one of my own.
One of those mysterious metal briefcases that only seemed to exist in crime shows.
A few people were escorted out of the apartment, some in handcuffs, while officers carried out evidence bags filled with what looked like poker chips and various metal objects.
My imagination was in full true crime mode.
Drugs, illegal gambling, kidnapping, murder, a secret underground poker empire.
My brain was coming up with every possible scenario.
In hindsight, I may watch just a little too much true crime.
No, I'm right there with you.
Same.
Unfortunately, my peephole wasn't exactly offering HD quality coverage, so that was about all I saw that night.
A few days later, though, I opened the news and nearly dropped my phone.
The headline read,
Containers in, town name, possibly used as torture chamber.
The article explained that police had discovered seven shipping containers that had been converted into what they believed were torture chambers.
The containers had been soundproofed and contained things like shears, handcuffs hanging from the ceiling,
and a chair bolted to the floor.
Six suspects had been arrested.
Now, I have no idea whether my neighbor was actually involved, but what if he was?
To this day, I still think about how I casually opened my front door and asked an armed police officer if everything was okay
while they were in the middle of raiding the apartment literally two feet away from mine.
Thanks so much for reading.
I absolutely adore the podcast, and whether this makes it onto an episode or not,
thank you for all the laughs, spooky stories, and comfort over the years.
Sending you all so much love, Shani.
P.S. Shout out to Piper.
Aw, thank you.
That is so nice.
Oh my gosh.
Natalie always feels bad excluding Piper because she's a menace.
Because it's so hard to record with her in here.
I won't harp on it, but that was really kind.
Thank you so much, Shani.
That actually makes me want to cry.
It's been a long day.
But anyways, that was so much darker than I thought it was going to be.
Yeah.
I thought it was going to be, oh yeah, they were gambling in the apartment next to me.
Little fee, or like little criminals.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A torture chamber?
I'm surprised that being the only two apartments on the floor, they didn't come and talk to you.
The police first?
Yeah, to see like, or not first, but when they're doing their investigation and stuff,
be like, hey, have you noticed anything weird in this apartment coming to and from?
You know?
Oh, yeah.
I would assume they would ask the only neighbor.
I don't know.
Maybe the apartment-
Or they got solid evidence.
They don't even need to ask you.
Maybe.
Or maybe the apartment isn't the, like, the person who owns the shipping containers didn't
live there.
They just knew they frequented there.
Or something.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Wow.
This would send me into a spiral for weeks.
What became of your neighbor?
Did they move?
Like, what's their name?
Can you send it to us?
Can I look them up?
I'm very invested.
It's very, like I said, a different kind of terror.
Like, that would be scary.
Very freaky to find out.
Like, I've been living next door to someone connected to torture chambers.
Yeah.
Wow.
That's really scary.
And I hope that was actually not your neighbor.
Yeah.
Me too.
Me too.
The next story was signed, The Girl Who Survived the Outpost.
Oh, okay.
Hey, Macy and Natalie.
I'm writing in for the first time.
I've had lots of supernatural experiences, but when you mentioned stories that border
on true crime, supernatural events, or shadow people, I knew I had to share this.
A friend of mine actually submitted this story to another podcast first, and they were the
ones who suggested it might be supernatural.
I would love to hear your take on it.
Back in 2024, I joined a local Facebook group to make new friends.
I clicked with a handful of people.
It was full of girls right away.
We had similar interests, lived nearby, and had a lot of fun going out.
Soon, a few of us became close.
After only knowing each other for about six months, myself and two other girls from the
group, friend A and friend B, were invited to a bachelorette party for one of the girls,
the bride.
Looking back, going to a bachelorette party after only knowing someone for six months
was a definite red flag.
But at the time, we all got along so well that I figured, why not?
The trip was at the Lake of the Ozarks, which is one of my favorite places to go to.
The bride mentioned she wanted a glamping experience.
Because I live with a chronic pain condition, I wasn't thrilled about glamping, but I agreed
since she told me I could participate as much or as little as I needed.
However, it turned out to be cabin camping at an outpost inside a state park, miles away
from civilization.
Absolutely not.
Oh my gosh, sorry.
I'll let you finish.
With new friends.
Mm-mm.
Mm-mm-mm-mm.
Our new friend cabin consisted of me, friend A.
And me, friend B.
The family cabin housed the bride's mom, the maid of honor, and a childhood friend.
Our cabin had air conditioning and mattresses, but the camp bathroom was over a quarter mile
away.
Thousands of bats were nesting in our rafters, and the cabin windows had no curtains.
I just kept telling myself that I was a Girl Scout growing up and could handle it.
Friend A and I picked up the bride and drove 10 hours to get there.
Once we arrived, we got ready for the welcome dinner.
The family cabin hosted a nice little bonfire and dinner, but the mood shifted at the end
of the night.
While the mom and the bride were having a good time, we got ready for the welcome dinner.
The new friends and the bride were outside drinking and playing Uno using a keychain
game that was sitting on my cooler.
For some reason, the mom got upset that we started playing games without them, and by
nightfall, she went to bed angry.
Mm-mm.
The next morning, we went on a boat trip.
The mom had booked a captain, but made no other reservations.
Since I was the only one in the group who had been to the area before, I helped out
by finding a few places and making reservations, especially because the mom started having
a meltdown over work drama while trapped on the boat.
The mom continued to be crabby, and we could tell the bride was getting sad.
As the new friends, we decided to liven things up by dancing or making our own fun, but that
only seemed to make the family cabin angry and jealous.
When we got back, the maid of honor sat the new friends down.
She condescendingly told us that she did not want us to make that night about drinking
because they were going on a hike the next day, and she wanted to ensure the bride went.
Even though the new friend cabin was put off by this, I agreed not to drink.
That caused problems, too.
The mom stormed off with more issues about dinner, resulting in an awkward meal where
the new friends didn't drink and the family cabin pouted.
The next morning, the family cabin planned to have breakfast at 8am, go on a hike with
a picnic lunch, and then float down the river.
Because I have lupus, it was over 100 degrees outside, and I have an irrational fear of
fish, I told the bride from the very beginning that I wouldn't be going on the hike or floating.
Instead, I planned to sleep in, get lunch at a pool bar, and grab ice for the coolers
before catching up with them later.
The other girls in our cabin didn't want to go on a picnic, so I decided to go on a
They weren't outdoorsy either, so they decided to skip the hike in the heat as well.
We woke up at 10am, and the family cabin was furious that we missed breakfast, despite
us having text proof that we weren't planning to attend.
While out for lunch, we took a photo and I posted it on Snapchat along with the rest
of the weekend's photos.
That triggered a massive wave of drama.
The new friend cabin was accused of skipping the bride's events and not supporting her,
which was completely false.
I tried to broker peace and get everyone to chill out.
On our final night, we did a boat bar crawl.
The bride was having a blast, but the mom just scowled and gave us strange, mean looks
the entire time.
Afterward, we took separate Ubers back to the cabins.
When we arrived, the bride and her mom were arguing.
We went back to our cabin, assuming the bride would join us to escape the yelling, but she
wanted to start a fire over at the family cabin.
Some of the girls went over to join her.
I went to use the bathroom, and while I was inside, the bride and her mom started fighting
and threatening each other.
The mom stormed off, and the bride told friend A,
It's okay.
Last time we camped, we fist fought.
I'm ready to do it again.
Hello?
Unaware of this conversation, I came out of the bathroom and started walking back
towards the family cabin.
Suddenly, the mom threw her car into drive, attempted to peel out of the gravel lot,
and accelerated rapidly.
Instead of aiming for the empty parts of the road, which was most of it,
she drove right toward me.
I had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
In complete shock, I ran back to tell the rest of our cabin that I was going to bed
and was done for the night because the mom had just tried to run me over.
Friend A and friend B came back to the cabin shortly after because the mom
was still calling and fighting with the bride.
The bride's dad was calling, and everyone in the family cabin was crying.
Once we locked the door to our cabin, we started to relax and enjoy just hanging
out together then we noticed lights and movement in the forest we texted the bride to ask if she
was okay and she responded stay inside my mom is going crazy oh my gosh earlier in the weekend we
had joked about being out so far in the woods and expressed safety concerns at the time the mom had
commented oh don't worry i have my concealed carry now we began to panic the mom had a gun
she had just tried to run me over and the bride was texting us that she was losing it this is so
scary i feel so bad okay the glamping trip from hell before we go any further and i learn new
details i would like to say i feel so bad for the bride this is why she invited a six month long
friendship to the thing because people don't want to be around her family this is so sad
oh my gosh oh oh our cabin was locked but because
there were no curtains or blinds anyone outside could see right in we turned out all the lights
and huddled together holding bear spray we watched as light flashed on the left thing quickly appeared
on the right we heard heavy footsteps walk up our porch heard odd noises and saw shapes darting
around the cabin at the time we thought it was just the bride's intoxicated mom losing her mind
but when my friend submitted the story to the other podcast the host suggested it might have
been supernatural rather than the mom because it was a full moon they threw out theories about a
mimic myself friend a and friend b rode home for 10 hours joking about making this into a movie
call me netflix it was the worst i am no longer in that facebook group and i'm no longer friends
with the bride or friend b what is your opinion on what happened i hope you enjoyed our bachelorette
trip horror story and i can't wait to hear your take supernatural or super mother of the bridezilla
have a spooky day the girl who survived the outpost yeah you survived oh my gosh okay
before i talk wild what do you think wild
wild just when they said supernatural element i was like that's very interesting okay i mean i
guess you can't know why but like why would a mimic come back and like erratically like go crazy
of like you know copying the mom i don't know no or was she like influenced by something
supernatural like dark okay i was gonna say if we're just talking true crimey and people are
crazy and snap sometimes or i mean i guess it's not snapping if she just acts like this all the
time she just is this fights her daughter crazy by the way crazy but these were my these were my
three theories or i guess two no three i had three okay my very first thought when they said
oh there was the friend cabin and then the family cabin i was like oh you're being set up y'all are
about they're about to throw you onto the woods and say start running we're hunting you know oh
that's where my gosh what's that movie i don't know where they like get married and they hunt
her and if she survives then she can be a part of the family or something like that i don't know
but you're not yeah i haven't seen it i haven't seen it i haven't seen it i haven't seen it
but i know you're talking about so that was my first thought maybe it's because i've seen the
trailer for that and i was like oh my gosh they're setting y'all up once it became kind of like okay
they're they're gonna be fine second the mom is just insane and likes to cause harm and drama
hates her daughter and wants everything to be bad and doesn't care about anyone third i was thinking
she got out in those woods and is like possessed by something you know but i just think that she is a
bad person what do you think very likely but she's just not a very nice or uh fun to be around
individual no but i do find it interesting that like maybe maybe all the horrible things that
were happening at the camp like the bad vibes the bad times the negativity attracted something dark
in the woods that too a werewolf an sw like mimic thing or something yeah and they the mom and the
bride could have already had you know that animosity because they're fist fighting and
you know they already have their problems yeah
but maybe like you said something paranormal in the woods was feeding off of that like darting
around their cabin all night and but like kind of got to the mom and made it worse and amplified it
and you know just kind of it was feeding off of her already negative energy i do believe that can
happen too yeah yeah everything about that is really horrifying and i was also thinking about
it being a movie so we're on the same page yeah if if we had connections in netflix we would be
contacting them for you for like a lot of our stories
all the time a lot truly okay i'm i'm glad you survived and i'm sorry you endured that and
now you know if someone on facebook asks you to go on a bachelorette trip you can say i've been
there and i've done that and i don't want to do it again our next story comes from canon hello
lovelies in your recent bigfoot episode you put out a call for stories that are difficult to tell
whether they are more true crime or paranormal and boy do i have one for you i am a lifelong
psychic medium and i worked in a popular spiritual shop in las vegas for about
six years that hosted several other readers at any given point there could be upwards of
five psychics in the building so needless to say we were in the habit of strange occurrences and
shared experiences skeptics could say we were all reinforcing each other's delusions but there is
something truly special about being able to get confirmation from another gifted person when you
see hear or sense something on the day in question business was very slow and i decided to work on
some projects around the shop there were door beads hanging over the entrance to every reading
room and i had taken on the task of cleaning and fixing the old ones and hanging up new ones
where necessary because i would be inside of the reading rooms and i did not want to neglect any
customers that could walk in i closed the front doors this way if anyone entered it would trigger
the alarm system to make a beep beep beep noise and i could come out of the rooms be of assistance
and man the front counter there was a back door that only employees used but it was also set up
to make the same beep beep beep sound if it was opened so i'm inside one of the reading rooms
hanging up these door beads while another psychic is giving a reading over the phone
when all of a sudden out of thin air a man walks up to us from the back of the shop there was no
one in the shop except for me and this one other reader for hours before this if anyone had walked
in through either entrance front or back it would have triggered the sound there was never any
beeping this man comes up shocks me to high heavens and i instantly enter the room and i
enter my default customer service mode my first thought is that i have somehow neglected to do my
job and my goal is to smooth that over trying to hide my surprise i said i'm sorry i didn't hear
you come in can i help you with anything he leaned in toward the reader that was on the phone and
said yeah i was curious about getting a reading in the most eerie tone that was so unnecessary
i began guiding him to the front counter and explained that she was booked up for the evening
and offered to schedule him for another time it was at this point that i made eye contact with
him at least i have eyes to make contact i'm not sure exactly what i was looking into his eyes were
relatively normal but where the iris and pupil would be it was just darkness not black not like
when people's pupils are dilated no these were like portals of absolute nothingness it was like
the absence of light altogether no it wasn't some kind of contact there was a depth to them like
looking into a pool of darkness he quickly said no that's
okay i just wanted to see what would happen with this creepy smirk and walked out the front door
which went beep beep beep so the alarm system worked perfectly fine the psychic reader in the
back gets off her call and comes rushing up to the front counter to ask me what the man wanted and
what his deal was this is when she tells me what she saw from her room as he walked away and that
was that his feet never touched the ground she saw him walking in the air hovering just above
the floor i never looked down at his feet when we were interacting
if anything i got caught up in his wormhole eyes but i trust her a hundred percent she has no reason
to lie her shock was evident and she had no idea what i had just seen or experienced yet when she
shared that with me now this is all strange enough as it is but it somehow gets even creepier and
harder to explain the man looked incredibly familiar to me but because of being so concerned
about safety and customer service and then being caught entirely off guard by his eyes and dark
energy i didn't place him in the moment i didn't place him in the moment i didn't place him in the
later that night a story about steve jobs came into my newsfeed and there he was no shut up no
the man that had just come through looking for a reading looked exactly like steve jobs part of why
it was hard to place him is he wasn't wearing his classic black turtleneck and slacks this version
of him or whatever it was was wearing what could be considered a target employee's uniform red
shirt and khakis and as the other reader who witnessed all of this
with me likes to say he had on those sneaky sneaks so yeah steve jobs ghost or a shapeshifter of some
sort or a burglar wannabe who was casing the joint came in through a portal in the back of the psychic
shop trying to see what would happen if he asked for a reading his feet never touched the floor
and his eyes held absolute nothingness i would love any semblance of an explanation that anyone
has to offer thank you for all the work you put into the pod and for reading my very strange tale
there are more where this came from and i
will send them in when the time is right you two are like glimmers of light and hope in this strange
dark world keep being wholesome lots of love canon oh well that was just so sweet thank you
but um you're asking the wrong people here right now someone needs to check those comments for an
explanation steve jobs came to your job but tried to get a reading that felt so weird to me like
they were remote viewing of some kind like astral projecting sort of you know what i mean if they're
floating and i just wanted to see what happened and they came out of nowhere they just appeared
in the shop without coming through an entrance and maybe i'm just on my astral projection kick
i don't know yeah i think
you are because your mind always goes there but i just that is some kind of dark entity why steve
jobs i don't i don't know i really i'm i can't think about that detail because i i don't know
and it becomes i'm just confused but i just wanted to see what would happen it's like that thing
whatever it was i feel like it wanted to cause harm or scare you really bad see that's why i
think or that's where why my mind went to some kind of like astral projection or remote movement
of some kind they floated and they were like i just wanted to see what happened i wanted to test
this out you know what i mean no because then when they left and opened the door it was like
beep beep beep so they were really there at the end i don't know i don't know that's just my
my thoughts but again the comments
i'd like to know what y'all think please i'm going to be reading these comments because this
is i'm very puzzled and i can't think about the steve jobs aspect because i'm stuck on that
when what did they say like it was after he passed it had to have been after because they
said steve jobs ghost okay i i don't know i don't know but it it also kind of feels
more eerie putting uh like a face to it you know and being able to recognize like oh this is the
i saw or the person i saw it makes it more confusing to me yeah hank joined bj's wholesale

our last story this is from mac hi y'all my name is mac she her and i'm a long time listener like
since 2023 and like so many other listeners you guys remind me of my own sisters and our love for
all spooky and cozy things and i just love the vibe of the pod so much you've been here a long
time from the beginning thank you i've been meaning to write in some of my experiences for a
while but i've never actually gotten around to it but when i was listening to the new bigfoot episode
and heard macy's request for stories that have r slash let's not meet vibes i immediately knew i
needed to write in these experiences feel free to read them on the pod or not but i'll just get
into it side note that i definitely think the house where these stories happened was haunted
but these stories are more on the line of people being terrifying someday i'll sit down and write
out some of the definitely paranormal stories that i have for y'all but not today this first
story is rather short and takes place when i was about five or six maybe seven at the most and the
exact details are a little fuzzy at this point i'm 25 now there was one night after i was put to bed
that i remember hearing a sound at my window just next to the head of my bed not quite being old
enough to know that nothing good would be making a sound at my window in the middle of the night
i got out of bed and pulled the curtains to the side the only thing i saw looking back at me from
the dark was this pale bald open-mouthed face oh almost like the figure from scream my heart like
when i said oh and then took a deep breath i was like oh my god i'm so sorry i'm so sorry
that little pause it's because my heart rate like it like took a it took a slow really slow beat
yeah that just punched me like a figure from the scream like the painting oh i was thinking like
scream the movie like a scream oh i screamed for my parents and if there was anyone actually
outside the window they were gone by the time they got there whenever i bring this story up
today my parents say they don't even remember this happening and they suggest it was a dream
or even a night terror i tend to forget most of my dreams pretty quickly though and those i do
can recall in almost perfect detail they don't really get fuzzy over time like a regular memory
might and something about this just doesn't feel like a dream either way since this happened i've
never like never ever ever felt comfortable looking outside at night and i avoid doing so
as much as possible this leads me into the next story this one takes place much later when i was
probably 19 or 20 i was in college but commuting so i lived with my parents in the same house
at this point my siblings had moved out so it was just the three of us i was staying
up late as was pretty usual for me the night this happened i was up past midnight in our
living room with all of the lights off playing video games with noise canceling headphones on
i was fully absorbed into the game and our dogs were sleeping soundly next to me
at some point while playing i started to get this eerie fool body feeling i didn't feel like i was
being watched exactly but it was almost like there was this voice inside my head telling me
that i needed to look outside like this full body urge to get up and check the window immediately
i tried to ignore it because like i said i hated looking out the windows at night
the more i ignored it though the stronger the feeling got after a few minutes of this i finally
caved i took off my headphones and just listened for a moment but it was completely silent like i
didn't even hear any cars on the main street a few blocks away slowly i got up and made my way
over to the windows in our living room we had horizontal blinds behind our curtains so i just
lifted one to give myself a small slot to peek from at first i was like oh my god i'm going to
there was nothing out of the ordinary just the partial view of our backyard and driveway the
garage the street the neighbor's houses i stayed for a few seconds still with that weird feeling
after a moment i noticed movement along the fence and then the movement turned into hands
long fingers curled over the top of our wooden fence one by one so slowly that at first i thought
i had been imagining it then just as slowly a pale face peeked up over the fence whoever or
whatever i was seeing was moving so slowly that i wasn't even sure i was seeing anything at all
then their eyes met mine and suddenly they weren't moving slowly anymore the second we made eye
contact they started to rapidly haul the rest of their body up and over the fence i snapped out of
whatever freeze i was in and sprinted to make sure the back door was locked the whole time screaming
someone's in the effing fence over and over before practically breaking down my parents door
i'd been making enough noise that they were already on their way out of their room and by the time we
got back to the window we could just see the shadow of whoever it was sprinting down the street
and out of sight no idea who or what i saw that night the only comparison i could think of is that
older cartoon salad fingers like this person's fingers were that long and their eyes were big
enough that i could tell we were making eye contact in the near total darkness about 15 to 20 feet
us it could have just been a person with long hands and big eyes i guess or just the street
lights a few houses down casting odd shadows on a human and making their features seem elongated
but the way they moved was just so eerie i hate even thinking about it and aside from the figure
itself i still don't understand what strange intuition or instinct made me look out the
window at exactly the right moment that night i mean neither mine nor my parents dog reacted to
anything that was happening until i started yelling and my dog will literally bark at a
light breeze
and i don't know what would have happened if i'd continued to ignore my gut feeling
i mean all the lights were off and the blinds were closed so it's not like i just caught someone
trying to peep through the window they wouldn't have been able to see inside i've considered that
maybe they were trying to break into the garage as the regular door not the big metal one to the
garage was in our backyard but that doesn't explain why they would continue climbing over
the fence after someone had obviously seen them whoever or whatever it was it definitely didn't
help my fear of looking outside at night i hope this video was helpful to you and i hope you
enjoyed it if you did make sure you hit the like button and subscribe to my channel and i'll see you in the next video bye bye
it's the slow to fast that's my reaction it's the slow to fast that got me because if it was a person
and they made eye contact and they are simply there to break in the garage or steal something
you know do like a little a little small crime they're not going to speed up they're going to
be like oh crap i'm caught and run away yeah go back over the fence and get out they saw them
and sped towards them like i'm glad they saw me also it has the same type of vibe
with like the one they saw when they were child yeah like elongated features and big eyes
something's off something's very off and i am unsettled and sickened and i actually do like my
heart started slowing down for a minute and it like caught my breath like that i don't know why
that scared me so bad but i'm unwell don't look outside and i'm scared and i would like to go to
the palate cleanser so if you don't want a palate cleanser goodbye i do wait there's a oh no i i
thought it might have been in here but it could have just been one of the reddest stories in the
that i was reading but i read a story some time ago about a realtor who was walking through the
house with uh no they were with a realtor looking for a house to purchase or rent or something
maybe it's one of y'all's stories so if it is i apologize and we'll get to you but they were
walking around the house and they didn't really like it but they were just still trying to like
check out the whole thing and they got to a door and put their hand on the door and suddenly deep
in their gut they were like no i don't need to open this door okay they don't know what was that
in there but they turned around and they said hey i'm ready to open this door and they said
let's just get out and they think that like maybe somebody was like in the bathroom that
they were about to walk into why are you telling me
this because when we were talking about the real estate one where the body was oh this was just
i thought about it yeah and i i'm just telling you about it oh i thought it had to do with this
this story i was like no it doesn't but just another story i wanted to tell you that really
freaked me out i don't like that but i do like hearing stories from realtors and stuff like that
that are scary because they have some scary ones spooky haunted real estate send in your haunted
real estate uh stories yeah oh my gosh okay i'm sweating onto the palate cleanser p.s i know they
aren't terribly spooky but if you need a short little palate cleanser after either of these
stories here you go there was a period of time when i was in high school where every single time
i was home alone i would hear these rhythmic scratching and thumping noises that seemed to
be coming from the front coat closet it only happened when i was home alone and no one else
in my family ever mentioned hearing anything out of the ordinary so i was afraid to even mention
it out of fear of sounding strange i was starting to believe i was going insane or that there was
some kind of demon or frogger hiding in the walls or inside some hidden nook in the back of the
closet
after a week or so of this i grabbed a metal bat and just started swinging at the coats and
and the shadowy corners inside the closet just yelling at whatever was making that noise to
knock it off all i got in response was a loud bang that seemed to come from thin air right in
front of my face and scared me so badly that i started crying and dragged our frightened dogs
to my room and just hidden there shaking for over an hour a few days later i'd had enough of the
feeling like i was losing it so i asked one of my sisters if she'd ever heard anything strange
when she was home alone she looked at me for a long moment then nodded we'd both been hearing
the same scratching and thumping and her bedroom actually shared a wall with the front closet
so she'd been hearing it even more than i had but we had both been too nervous to tell anyone
since we'd both been hearing the same thing we decided to approach the rest of our family
and eventually it was decided that our dad would check the attic crawl space
to look for any intruders and he found some a family of squirrels had dug a hole through our
roof and were nestling nesting in the small nook just above the front coat closet yep it was a nest
of squirrels that had me convinced i was losing my marbles we were able to safely trap and relocate
them after fixing the new hole in our roof and never had any more scratching after that at least
not inside the walls like i said i think the house was haunted and a lot of spooky things
happened there but at least this was nothing out of the ordinary sorry i had to add at least one
squirrel pun the cute little okay thank you thank you for that
um yeah heck yeah that's the best scenario i can think of the best ending i have that type of
horror when you think it's a frogger or a demon it's actually just squirrels love it all right
