The conversation centers on a mix of celebrity culture, media reactions, and personal emotional reflections. It begins with a satirical take on Kelly Clarkson’s alleged feud with a magic shop over a $15,000 toy named Molly, dismissed as melodramatic and out of touch with real online dynamics. The tone shifts to excitement over the return of the show *Girls* on HBO, with fans expressing deep nostalgia and emotional investment. The discussion then expands into broader themes of identity, race, and love—particularly in dating shows like *Love Is Blind*, where interracial relationships and personal authenticity are scrutinized. The host critiques performative drama, advocating instead for emotionally rich, authentic storytelling. A key point is the admiration for a documentary on Elizabeth Holmes, which explores deception, perception, and the complex bond between a subject and a documentarian. The speaker emphasizes the importance of representation, suggesting returning underappreciated characters like Greta Lee while excluding others like Amy Schumer. Ultimately, the conversation celebrates real human connection, emotional honesty, and the value of stories that go beyond surface-level spectacle—highlighting a desire for deeper, more nuanced narratives in media. The tone remains reflective, appreciative, and grounded in personal experience, contrasting sharply with the superficiality of online celebrity drama.
Let me tell you something, I would do a Theranos for anything feel just look at me like that. Would I commit any type of fraud? Say it. I'm ready to do it right now. What, I need to make a little blood, give a little blood, make a little love, I do it. Anything else on your screen? I'm telling you about to bring it to some slam poetry. Hey, it's Peyton and it's Hunter and she is happy to be here today. I'll tell you that and this is let me say this and where we at Hunter. We're at HQ. Mrs Obama come on out. I wish she's not here not yet, not today. But today we're talking about the return of girls. Love is blind Boston. You can see everything. Spoiler alert already. We're gonna not spoil a lot but we're gonna spoil a little. So if you haven't seen it, just skip the last second. Soft spoil. And then also, can we start with Kelly Clarkson? I just want to get it out of the way. I just want to get this off of my trust. Kelly Clarkson is in a feud with a magic shop. We can call that a toy store for adults. Many such cases, by the way. Totally. More likely than you think. And I don't think anyone organically cares about this. I don't all this all these things being like, oh, this is like original OG Twitter drama. This is how I want my celebrity to be acting online. I'm like, no, no, no, no, wait, who's that? Many gay guys on Twitter. Who ever said that? Many, many gay men and I'll name them. No, I'm like, this is not original. Anything. Yeah. Twitter drama is Alex Baldwin saying Jay up type barista at 95th and Broadway Starbucks had an attitude problem. Like that's that's Twitter drama. Not this Kelly Clarkson over a over a bird named Molly. That's $15,000. And now $15,000,000. Price just went up. And what does Molly see of that money? Yeah, Molly. And what about her? What about her story? I was cracking up because I did a comedy show and I was just curious, like not even as bad. I just was like, oh, like, let's read the room. I was like, so who's side of you on? Kelly Clark roaring applause. I didn't even get to the dam bird yet. I was like, wait, wait, wait, I didn't even finish her name. I said, oh, the class or got your glasses. You're done. You're cooked. No, I'm sorry. I, I, wait, who's that anyone? My side. Okay. I'm on the side of like something else needs to happen. Please God, I'm so sick of this. However, I did used to pat. That was like, that's right across you from my old apartment, basically. I used to pass it all the time. And the fact that that store is in, in all this drama, this man on the news being like, where she's put us all in danger. I'm like, so this is a magic shop. Wait, I've never been there. You were already in danger. Didn't you go to high school? I mean, no, I've never been in because it, it always, they always seem to like have something going on there. There's always like, like, there's always stuff happening there in a way that I didn't appreciate. And it's near that school, too, that like where the kids that part of the uniform is, you say me out there? Yeah, yeah. I love it over there. So you know, so when we talk about a class war, don't remember where Hunter said that she just lived. No, no. What I'm saying, though, is that all right, a magic shop in the most expensive neighborhood in Brooklyn. Get real. They don't believe that someone can afford a $15,000 fucking toy. Okay, wait, the thing that did gag me, though, is I saw the video of her. Okay, the two thing, Loki. I got interested when I saw the full Raven backpack. The backpack. She, it was two regular girl. I was like, you want me to go back and talk to me, you know what I mean? The backpack is giving like assisted. It's giving like, you're here on behalf of someone else. But then then I thought about it, though, and I asked someone that had to carry around a roly backpack when my mom freaked out about what backs, what backpacks do the backpack. Yep. I really lost a couple points that year was really tough. I had to advocate for myself to get a backpack back on. Every danceport. Every year, Auntie tried to make me have a roly backpack. Every, we went through the same dance every single year. I'd start school the rolling backpack. I would lose it. I would complain about it. I was saying that bullied. What? I would, I would just make it disappear. They stole my backpack, mom. They just never liked it. No one wanted it. I was like, someone took it. I would, I would have like crime. Like, I'm getting bullied over the backpack. But I kind of would have bullied over that. But, you know, honestly, unfortunately, at the end of the day, like, hurt me. Oh, no, no. Well, yeah, that too, actually. No, I was with the roly backpack. I bit of tripped you with it, though, found a way. But I will say, at the end of the day, I am obviously going to have to pick a team and it will be Kelly Clarkson's really behind these hazelnies. Even when they asked, I would have voted for her at our time. Like, Obama, but Kelly, no, I understood it. But he just said to Kelly. She's very an and Kelly. Okay. Slabs, girl. Yeah. Kelly. Okay. Sorry. I really liked her last studio album, which no one listened to. But everyone says I love her show. So what can you say? Oh, I love Kelly. Okay. That's where I'm at. But anyway, wrap it up. It's done. No more discourse. I think a good celebrity drama has to have something close to a slur in it for it to be good for me. Like, the Alec Baldwin being like, what do you call him, a faggy little barista? No, he says, let me have, I try to go to say uptight queen barista. Yeah. Girl, you're going to catch me slipping. No. Imagine not yet. I'm going to riled up one day. Act real gay. See what happens. But something like that has to be in it for me to be like, I'm looking at you know, I'm no hate. Okay. All right. Okay. So I am team wrap this up. Your team, Kelly. Well, I'm team wrap it up. But if I have to, if I have to pick a winning team, it's not going to be the magic shop players. No way, no, how you don't get to go there. I was cool in high school. Yeah, no. Sorry. It's just my truth. It's just my truth. Have you heard the news? We won. We did a joke. Oh, yeah, it's kind of you. I'm a little Joe Biden because I'm slow with it and you kind of calm. I'm laughing. Well, I love the news. So I was at the pool. Yeah. When I got an email from good thing going, lead on them, sub stack. And it was like, girls is coming back. I was like, oh, totally. It's like a zoom thing. I'm like, oh, like it's some kind of benefit for sure. Girls is coming back for five episodes. He's on HBO. I thought I was like hallucinating. And I sort of weeping at the pool. And it was like, no one else here knows that girls is coming back. Like that meme. I was sitting outside. I was like, this like a mummy laying out. And I was like, no one here knows it goes back. Also, the pool was empty. So it was really mean. No one here knows. No one else is here. I'm realizing. Do all the ladies and a couple with the dirtiest feet I've ever seen. It was quite shocking. Oh, God. Yeah. Um, where were you when you find out? I was just at home, but all of a sudden, you know, you know, where I stay on do not de-sturb. I'll be doing nothing, but still don't disturb me. What's crazy is that to watch you go and do to disturb in the middle of a conversation. Yes. Yeah. Happens a lot. And sometimes I do it like on purpose. I'm not to you, but to my family. Don't worry. Not to you. Just to my family. Um, but I was on do to disturb. And then, you know, you can override it. Three different group chats. All gaze, of course. Did you hear? Did you hear Lena Dunham? I said, um, wow. Um, I have prayed for times like these. My knees are bruised from being at the foot of my bed. Doing one at the foot of your bed. I guess like this class for, do you pray like this? Do you pray like this? Well, we know who's that praying. I pray like, I'm always trying to like cause my religion. I'm sure it's like my culture not a costume. No, I'm a real vacation Bible school graduate. Okay. And drop out. Yeah. But yeah, I feel like about 14 groups I had went off and I said, thank God. And specifically thank God that it's not, we're bringing back girls total reboot. And the way they try to do some kind of like, fuck us in just like that situation. Uh, so we have five episodes. Yeah. And the girls are back together. Yeah. All the girls are coming back. Plus, I'm so excited. Um, and get out of town. I also millions, join the Kirk, Sasha Mammett. Let me say this guest one time. And for an old startup, we're turning as executive producer. He could have killed him and, um, per famsick, no Adam driver and no Jenny Connor. And maybe that's for the best per famsick. Yeah. Yeah. I'm like, but why would Adam driver be doing in this show? Yeah. Because it's not like him and just we're ever going to last. Yeah. Did you think that they would make it through? I've actually never finished girls still. I'm always like, I haven't like watched the last three episodes because I just don't want it to ever end. But are you going to before? Yeah, now, now that I have a reason to live, yeah, now I can finish. You're holding that. I ain't got no truth. I don't have to hit play on HBO Max. You're crazy. That's insane. By the way, what can I say? I have a drama queen. Oh, yeah. Well, I get what did you get up to actually? What did you get to? Oh, when she, she like just fucked Riz on med. Oh, at the, yeah. I know she gets pregnant. Has a black baby. I know that. Well, he's not black. But the baby is just for the good. And it was like, were you in a rush? To get married actually in centuries. Okay.
- You know what I'm gonna do about this black outfit. - So I care about where you were when you found out, where I was when I found out, and where Christopher Abbott was when he found out. 'Cause you know Christopher Abbott who didn't put girls in his play bill bio for whatever play he's doing right now. Wait, really? - Yeah. - I'm like, so what else are you known for? Lowkey, James White? - Right. - And I'm kind of like the disrespect that's been happening to Lina down from these men. (laughs) - I will say Charlie was first. Charlie from girls was first to disrespect her. He always hated that show. I'm like, and why? You got to act a little black with it. That's a white boy's dream in the early arts. Are you joking? - She got you looking good and dumb thick in that one episode. - Mm-hmm. - Panic in different ways. - Yes, yes, yes, yes. But even in the early season, he looked in season one and two. I just rewatch season two episode, there's something about Ray or we need to talk about Ray, whatever Ray, when we learn that Ray is living with Trishana and Trishana learns that in real time to let the dinner table, let me say been there. But Ray, or no, Charlie is with Audrey, the real Audrey, what's her name? - Audrey Yelman? - Yeah, Audrey Yelman. Like they're like dating on the show. - Oh my god, she's like Audrey versus Marney. And it's so funny. My god, what an episode. - We've already talked about this so many times in terms of who we are, but has that changed though? Do you feel? - No, I'm pretty much a show, I guess. So it's changed then. - Oh, what I was Marney before? Oh, you were my, yeah, bitch. (laughs) Born, came out the womb, Marney. Came out the womb of the pencil and no, no, bad. - No, I knew your mom was like, oh well. - No, but there's some about Marney that like I don't see at all. Like I'm not gonna be a folk singer. - Okay, okay. - Like that part of, but you know what? - Oh, my, I know what I was gonna tell you. Let me tell you what happened to me this weekend. - Okay. - I'm walking down the street in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, on Down Atlantic, not far from the magic shop, scene of the crime, if you call it a crime. And I was with one of my friends and we're walking and he said, oh wow. And I'm like, what? Look at you. It was dizzy. I was face to face with dizzy. And I was like, thank God I have my neighbor's HBO hat on. First things, I think I thought, fuck, I'm not, I'm wearing glasses glasses, I'm not even sun glasses. I looked right at him. I tried to pretend I was talking to anything else. And it was just like a moment of knowing and I was like, you didn't say anything. - I started blushing. Like literally I couldn't think. I couldn't, I had no thoughts in my head. - His wife is like, his wife was right there. She was like, let it out girl. - She was like, here we go. - You're like, don't worry, it's just him is dizzy. It's not that regular. And then he walked past me again when I was eating my pizza and I was like, oh my God. - Oh my God, love is real. - So you could be a morning then. - Morning Venus. - Shoot. - Open your heart to me Bella. Which one are you, you're Jessa? - You always feel like I get a tight cast as Jessa. 'Cause I'm really beautiful and I was centrally that can't be explained. But that's not really how you see me outside of all the time. - I do think of you as a Hannah. - I'm Hannah, I was all, here's the thing. Well one, it is weird that I have that one outfit that is Jessa, I have the exact outfit of Jessa when she's across the street during the play. And Adam is watching her from the window. And then that's when Hannah realizes that they're hooking up. I happen to have that exact outfit and when my hair's a little bit blonde, watch a man. Watch a man. It's crazy. I look exactly like her. Some say she might say, actually you don't mind if I'm a Kirk story is this will never come across or she like doesn't have internet or whatever. But I was at this moment or something, or something at the moment, I can't remember. And I see her, no one's dancing. I'm young, drunk. And I see her and I start dancing. And I see her and she sees me and she starts dancing. And we're across the room and I'm kind of like, well, you know, we can, we can meet in the middle. So I start coming to her. I could you not like dance your way over there? - You dance your way over there. - We dance our way over to her. Immediately spill eyes, drop glass, spilled glass shatters everywhere. Cut, she goes turns around. Like a movie. I think she just like realized how like young and dumb I was. And like maybe too gay for her, you know. Like I was coming like shoulders back to these up. Like I'm ready. I'm ready. You know what I want? This is great pivot. You know what I want from. - Oh, you want the lesbian turn? You want to chase Diaz? - No. What? No, I would never make Jessa a lesbian. What the hell am an adult? - Okay. - What I would do? I just want Jessa and Marney to finish what they started just once. Hmm, just one thing. Hmm, I want that. They're the one of them. So when they're like, I remember I used to watch. It was before I was like gay with the capital G. It was like lowercase, like curious gay. And I was watching that one scene over and over and over. - Which is where they're at the apartment of that, the guy that Jessa ends up marrying, and they kiss on his carpet. And it's right before they spill the wine on his like really offensive rug. - Whatever happened in that actor. Christo Dowd. I was thinking about this over the weekend. - Oh, okay. - Whatever happened at me. He used to be in like, you know, a lot of things. He was in Molly's game. He was in Brighton's. - Brighton's, yeah. - And then he's just like kind of-- - I think he was in something kind of recently though. Like recently, like last five years, not like. - Yeah. Anyway, Pupi's well, I guess. I don't know. - Well. - Okay, who do you want to see side characters do you want to see? Come back. - I don't know if it counts as a side character, but legally, they have to bring like, Rita Wilson as Marney's mom obviously. - Oh, of course. Do you want to see me comment on her recent Instagram? - No, what did you say? - I commented. I said, sister, are you coming back for a girl? (laughs) Did you reply? - No. - I guess, I mean, I love Gabby Hoffman anything. I love a woman that doesn't want to work and is forced to against her will. I will say, I also got to bring back, Megita Burruss. - Bring her back. - I think we need to bring back Greta Lee. - Oh. - I would bring back Greta Lee for like a, and maybe Jenny Slate too. You know who I wouldn't bring back? Amy Schumer. - No, but that's such a good line reading on a fortune plate. - I know, but I honestly think it's like better left in the past. - No, of course. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, don't touch it ever. - There's no real benefit to bring it. Like Greta Lee coming back would be so funny because her life is always like this. And Marney Slate was always like that. So that's fun. But Amy Schumer, it's like, you had one iconic line, like, you know. - And you did it. You paid your dues. - Yeah, we don't need her anymore. - Yeah. I just didn't want Donald Glover coming back as a black Republican. - Girl, what is he gonna do in this show? - I know, it doesn't mean like, that was, we're like, although, getting money here. - Leeda Hunky, you could say, a reader of hung up. She was like, you kept posting about Adam dancing to Valentine by Fiona Apple and it made me start yearning again. - Doxic. I love it. If you have not seen Adam driver dance around time by Fiona Apple, it is-- - Stop her doing right now. - It's so erotic. It's a relapse has never been so sexy. - Hi. - Shoot, sorry. - Sorry. - There's one thing it's you saying 'cause it sounds so toxic and bad. - I know. - Wait, hey. - I know, I'm gonna change, I'm gonna change. I'm gonna check in next week. I'll be different. Any other cameos? Any other people you want to see? We're on the back. - Oh, maybe a mini Rose. - I could do a mini Rose moment. - No, that's based off of me. - Of course, of course. DM me. - I love a bitch with multiple names. Name me Rose Howard. I was also gonna say something I was thinking about. I don't want any. I hope this is like for casting purposes. A really cool opportunity to see like maybe new up and coming like young actors and not necessarily like internet-a-people, you know what I mean? - I really don't need any young actors. I, or not like, wait, what do you mean? Like I don't need anyone new to enter the world really. Like I don't want-- - Oh, yeah, I just mean like for supporting, like I don't want anyone that's not like-- - What's your name, Mom? - Honestly, it's the one I do want. - Who? - Hi, I'm Peyton Dex, and I'm an actress. Lena Dunham, if you're watching this, I'm available. My 2027 clear completely, so thank you so much. (laughing) - That was good, that was good. That was nice, I am too, that was good. - Thank you. - I was doing that. - That was good. - I'm on coof. - No, I would do it. (laughing) And I would do it again. - There's a thing that works really well with like Abbott Elementary in the way that they like-- - Oh yeah. - I think that's thoughtfully cast in an internet-a-people that works in that way. - Yeah. - And I'm curious about like up and coming town versus like internet-a-talent, I guess. Like I don't want to see someone on the show who's like just doing the thing that they do on TikTok already. - Yeah, like I don't want to see like Jake Shane and girls. You know what I mean? - Has he seen you seen girls? - Probably not, he didn't know who like Madonna was. (laughing) - And all love, I believe in girls. - But yeah. - No, but I sort of, I feel like I don't want, I think there is like a tendency in reboots or in like, you know, additional seasons to react to like what has changed in culture since then. - Yeah. - And I don't want to see something about like Hannah, I mean, I think she'll have a sub-stack, but I don't need to see her like responding to TikTok. - Yeah. - Written large, you know? - Yeah. - Is that remember what girls has been really? Did you watch the L word and the L word reboot maybe did it come, like even just now? It's just like the L, I know, I'm sitting here. - You're trying to set me up again. - I'm trying to set me up again. like keep up with the times in this way. We're like, now we're having every cultural conversation at once in one episode. And we're like, we don't actually have to do that. And that's not why we're here. Like, we can, you know, repent for the things that maybe happened in the earlier iteration of this that maybe weren't ethical or right, but we don't have to do it all at once. And I feel like I trust Lena Dunham not to do that. 'Cause I've said, that's never been, they eat those some girls. - Yeah. They should be problematic. - Yeah, 'cause they always have been. - They're just girls. Like, they're just girls. And you know what I'll say? We are the ladies. We've always been the ladies. (laughs) I mean, just, it's true. It's just true. I'm gonna show you on this one, okay? Oh, I love that scene. Okay. I love to love. - I have been on the ground floor of Ben Affleck. - Well, I'm trying to be on the ground floor, Ben Affleck. - So you know what I'm saying? Go on. Yes. - Yeah. - Okay, we need to get started. - So, we need to get started. - So, if you go back to the point. - Okay, love is, love is blind Boston. - Yeah. - So that is famously at town that we went to college, survived. - And now we're here, barely. - Okay, some of the couples that made it. John and Sarah, Sarah is a nurse. Sarah is having on earth, and John was diagnosed with MS, which he reveals to Sarah. She says, "Not even a problem with me." - But wait, John is the one who, with the glasses? - Yeah. - And he's like, "I'm really insecure about my glasses." Like, "Sorry, I can't believe that I have to wear glasses." - I'm like, "First of all, okay, four-eyed people "are a very brave and strong community." And I remember, I'm not wearing them now, but I love my glasses. - I think glasses are hot. They're actually having a huge moment, too. - They really are. And also, he's anti-vax. So how's that gonna work? - And was on his way to anti-abortion as well, until Sarah said, "Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop." - She's right there. - Looks like we have this off camera. - I can put him quick in his place. Literally, the time I know it's edited, but the time when she was like, "I don't really believe in a boy." You know you're right. Like she got him together and quick, which I don't trust that. And either of them, I'm like, "You want a man "that you have to like teach?" - See, that's the thing. But yeah, like, I think a lot of women do. Like, they, like, they're choosing this. Like, they, like, think they like that. And because that's the only Achilles heel to me, to Sarah, otherwise I adore her. - Yeah. - Wilson and Wilnie, I don't know if that's the right way to say her name, that's a black couple. - Yeah. - And it's Wilnie's first time dating a black guy. - Yeah. - Right? - Yeah. - But did you see the preview of her apartment? What her apartment looks like? Her apartment, it's filthy. - It looks disgusting. - Even the toy, I mean, the trash can has like stains on the outside of it. Like, the fridge. - How do you know dignity? Oh my gosh. - The fridge. - It was, I'm scared for what's gonna come next in the big reveal. - He looks like he's like, I cannot date you if you're this, if you're this like gross. - I would, I would stand with him. I'm with him at that case. And I never want to be on the side of a man, but I might have to be picking it, we'll see. - Yeah. - Cameron and Aja, the white boy who likes Afrobeats, I made that abundantly clear when I think he knew he was talking to a black girl in the pods. And then Aja's that bubbly girl that doesn't drink. - Yeah. - Lots of energy for me. I has too much energy for me. - I know.
- Yeah, pretty face-up. Blake and Erika, the mullet to boat guy who wants to live his life on a boat and the girl with the job and a bob. And then last, no, no, two more. Secondly, two more. Robin McKayla, which is just like the most, they're the most Boston of Boston couples when she's in a jacuzzi with him and she's like, you know what I love? I love that you smoke cigars. - Oh, right. - Why does that ever been true when we have a hard day, we could just smoke a cigar together. And he's like, I love that you love that. I'm like, you people match each other's weeks. - Oh, like five. - Okay, last but not least, big ostrichs. Stu and Jax, Jax, no, Stu had said that he gets called Kennedy and she's in the pods. - In the pods, yeah. Where the world is different, time is low. - Right, I mean, like they don't really know him at all, so. - And Jax is like more like Mitt Romney. And honestly, even that. - And she dates older men. And then she left him after they got engaged. - Yeah. - And didn't say goodbye to Scott up and left. - Yeah. - Try and understand. - Well, okay, I have to come out now. I think Blake is hot, the boat guy, Mr. Blow Deck. I think he's hot. - You know who he looks like? - Who? - He kind of looks like Summer House guy that broke Sierra's heart. - No, he doesn't. - He kind of does. - Don't say that. - Sorry. - Ugh. - Well, what's that guy's name, Ra? - No. - West. - West is like that he's not ugly. He's just stupid. - Yeah, but I don't think he's like hot though. - I think Blake is like kind of like for love is blind standards. I'm like, okay, yeah, he's like kind of, I mean, I don't trust that a man is like, oh, we can spend like months here in Europe, months here in Europe, whatever. And then like come back. I'm like, so that's just, that's not a marriage. That's like long distance dating. - Yeah. - What's that going to do? - I don't know, but you know, I guess like, yeah. - Yeah. - Cut to that photo of Hunter on a boat right here, please. - Okay, thank you. - I wasn't sick. I was taking non-verbal time, so let's be clear about that. Okay, now Stu, I kind of was like, okay. - Stu? - I feel like, I think that I would have gone on a date with Stu. We would have met, be a bumble derogatory in 2017 and we would have gone out once. - You and I, we live a totally different life. (laughing) Stu? What can I say? - Stu, on my screen. - No way, no how. - There's not even a chance of all those teeth. - All that mouth. - Stu? - Oh my god. - The worst thing about him is that he fully, like, he was so close to me that he didn't understand Townsend Mr. Ripley. Like he just fully didn't understand the movie at all. - It's, there's a long list of things I think Stu does not understand. I'll just say that, I'll go ahead and say that. Okay, who's your problematic faith on the show? Ooh, well, I really like Michaela and Sarah. I will say even with the cigar thing, Michaela Ernstie-Ouer has so much like faith and trust and love in herself in this way that seemed really from what I get from the edit at the very least. I really like the way that she was talking about herself as in like I am putting all my cards out there and I trust that like what is meant for me will come to me and it seems like Loki, her and Rob are kind of a really good match. I'm worried, I don't know what's gonna happen 'cause you know what things get shook and shook up every time they bring the other people back in. - Yeah, so maybe I'm, you know. - I want to like Michaela, but ultimately, I'm like girl, you are playing yourself. This is, I don't like when they're in the pause. This happens a lot where women are like, you know, if you're thinking about choosing someone else, you know, choose her, don't choose me. I want you to be happy, like whatever, we'll take the stress off of you. It's very like cool girl monologue, but actually I think it becomes very pick me. - But I think she meant it though, I feel you, but I think she meant it, but I also think it was a play. I think that she knew he was, you know, she is like the path, path of least resistance in some way that if you're having all of this like stress over choosing someone, here's an easy option 'cause he was the one who was like, oh, I want to be with the girl. - Who's the other girl, Benita? - Yeah, the black and the, you got it. Benita, Benita, Benita. - That's my fronatic face, but I'm my father's daughter for sure. - For sure, oh my daughter. - No, she is good with me, but she was the one that's like, have you had an athlete's professional athletes? What sports? - Oh, don't tell me. Basketball, football, both, she's like so crazy. You know who she reminds me of? - Jeannina from season one, Jeannina Malady. - I love Jeannina, and once you fell in the ditch, when she was running away, oh my god. - Jeannina, I love you. - I just love you. - Benita couldn't get, she was fine with that. I guess shocked me because like, I know she's gonna cause a rock us when she returns. Girls like that, that's, you keep girls like that around. - No, Benita. - Just for just her drama. - I would be her friend. - Oh, yeah, we would tell him. - Benita, what do you think girl? He's a shot. (laughing) She is cool, Banana, I loved her. But yeah, I guess I get the pick me thing about Michaela, but I do feel like, it did seem like she had a lot of trust in faith in who she was, and I hope that that is real at the very least. - Yeah, no, I think that's true. Unfortunately, I don't think Rob is gonna be faithful. Do you think any of these people will make it so far? - I think it's a matter of who's gonna break up first. - Yeah. - And I think it's gonna be Camin' and Aja. - They have nothing in common to me. - And he like shot up a bunch of knock knock jokes, the first day in the pods. It was so weird. I think they're gonna break up first. And then I think Blake and Erica will make it to the altar, but they're not gonna get married. And I think Rob and Michaela will probably, I think the only people I could see may be getting married. - If Rob acts, right. - Yeah, but he's not going to. You think a man's gonna act right? - Please. - I need to love his blind loves being auditioned and stat actually. - Well, they have the ultimatum. - Wait, something that I think is so funny, is the music and movie taste? Like the things that came up, remember the Titans? Can we have, I mean, love that film, but like in 2026. - What? - That's like, remember the Titans? - The fray he was mentioned. A fray mention is crazy. - Well, where did I go wrong? - I lost a phrase. - I don't say even that. - Somewhere along in the wilderness. - He was bald as hell that singer. - He was? - Yeah, he was kind of bald looking. Bald looking. He seemed bald like. It was just, and then one thing I will give will need, even though she didn't sit right with me, and I could kind of tell her apartment look that way, I don't know why, was when they someone was like, oh, he looks, he seems like he looks like Noah Khan. Noah Khan. And she goes, who is that? I was like, yes, Black woman. But who? White girl, who are you talking about? Noah who? And I don't know him. Even though she seems like the type to know who Noah Khan is. But yeah, look, he is like, I don't date black guys. But then, so that's giving that you listen to Noah Khan then. Okay, I do have like a weird feeling about the black girl that doesn't explicitly date black guys. Something I will hold in respect is like, she's not being shy or weird about it, you know what I mean? She's like, this is just the truth, which is like, I normally date white boys. And I do feel like that to me is a step above like trying to talk around it or pretend that she doesn't date black guys, you know what I mean? Whereas like, I think there's a, I don't know this girl, but I think there is like, I remember growing up feeling like, private school, whatever, LAS or anything. I was like, oh, like, like, I date white boys. And now, don't even date the boys at all. But also, have to be like, oh, I had to like go through a lot and learn a lot and like, really, honestly like, understand and like, really cherish and love my blackness. And I want to hear more from her about that aspect of her dating experience, like what it's meant to her and how it's shown up. Because I feel really curious about it. And I do think it could lend to a lot of really full, hopefully conversations around interracial dating and what it might feel like to her now to date a black man. 'Cause she's like, hype down him for real. Yeah, no, I think so. And I, it's funny that you bring that up because I had that same thought around her saying in the pods, like, I'm not like, conventionally beautiful. Like, my hair is different. All of these things. And I'm like, but you are like just a beautiful black woman. Like, that's so, like, what are you describing? What, what is the difference in describing? And that was given like, oh, that's like the only day it's white guy is part of her. I think maybe coming out, which was really sad. But it's not the first time on any love is blind iteration that I've watched, like both US and abroad, where there's like a black couple that typically does not date other black people. And yet, they match with the black person in the pods. And like, that's what they want to pursue. And there's something really interesting there about like a, and that doesn't happen usually in the reverse of like someone who, like an racial couple that hasn't dated an racially before, I guess. And that was that couple from season one came and. It wasn't like that married and have kids now. Lauren, maybe I think. Yeah, Lauren, Lauren, Lauren, Lauren. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But mostly it's like, people who don't typically date inside their race, dating inside their race, and then like, having a lot of feelings about it. And I think this show really starts that conversation way that like a lot of other dating shows don't. Yeah, I'm interested in it. I think like, I hope that it comes up more and we see her and them together like talk about it 'cause I think it might be like a probably really helpful conversation, maybe even just bare minimum for her. Yeah, and then I think we need to call made sailors or something to get her apartment cleaned. Who's made sailors? I don't know, just any type of made service. You just made that up? Yeah, you just started a business and LLC right here right now? No, I think I use them once. They need to call them.
- What email? - They didn't call anyone. Call any, they need to call Mr. Clean. How's that? - They do, they do, I like his ball. - I like Baldi Boy, I'm realizing. - Yeah, so I don't know where you're talking about what's the fray being a bald-headed man and you don't like that. - Well, I didn't like him because this girl named Margaret Reat who was my ex-friend in middle school who pretended to be Latina and poor. She was super rich, her dad was a producer. She starred in the fray, how to say for life music video. And I was bitter about that. So now I got a bone to pick up the fray. - How old was she when she, what, 12? - Oh, as what? - As a child in the background. - I'll show you after. - So in the background? - Yeah, I mean, I'll send you my, you're including you, Margaret. - Okay, we are talking about you can see everything. Spoiler alert, slight spoiler alert. So if you need to put a pin in this and come back, we will be talking about it again. - Yeah, but we know it just came out so we're being respectful of that. - If you wanna go in not knowing anything at all, you can come back to us later. - Yeah, we'll be here for you. But if you wanna know a little bit and don't mind some spoilers on all, or if you see it and you wanna queen out with the girls. - Ooh, then lock in, we got ya. - Okay, so Elizabeth Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, beginning 34 days before she surrenders to begin an 11 year federal prison sentence for fraud. The couple invites a film crew into their California compound. What starts as an intimate portrait of her final days of freedom evolves into unorthodox, three year psychological study exploring perception, truth, and the complex relationship between documentarians and their subjects. Who wrote that? Those, yeah, those. That's exactly what it is. - Queen, that was perfect. - So we saw it in New York Film Festival and tell the class what you said to me right after the house lights go up. And you said, what did you say? - I was like, "Hunter, you're cooked, bro." I said, "Oh, Nathan Fielder's GA, uh-oh." I was like, "If I know that was not my kind of guy "and I'm having a little," I said, "Oh shit." This whole theater is coming for your man. 'Cause Hunter has been, Hunter, you know, she won those arts girls where she likes a little weird boy. That's cool with you. I like a big dude. Okay, so Hunter was like, "Fuck." I was even like, I was like, she was like, "You're the baddest bitch in the game." I was like, "Hunter was top dog." And I said, "You gonna have to throw a hand now. "You gonna have to stretch." - We gotta get up in the gym because all the bad bitch is gonna be fighting each other for a new feeling. - You see my Instagram story this morning, I was up in the gym. - No, I'm bricked, great. - Well, it was, it looked good. Anyway, let me tell you something. - Yeah. - I would do a Theranos. For Nathan Fielder to look at me like that. - Would, I'd commit any type of fraud. - Say it. - So I'm ready to do it right now. What, I need to make a little blood, give a little blood, make a little love. I'd do it. - It doesn't look like you want to bring it to some slam poetry. I was ready to snap. (laughing) - Here's the guy. - 'Cause I see it in his eyes. - What's going on? - He is so, for a man to look at you with such curiosity, to wanna know about what's going on in your head and in your heart. - I'm shy. - For a man to book up his chest against your partner and say, "Why are you using a photo for "that you know she doesn't like?" - Define me. - So that's where the bar is. - That's good stuff. - That's, so, and I'll say the truth thing was, you know, I was wondering about it. I was like, "Need to feel it. "Why do you have such sex appeal? "Why are you so good at eye contact? "You're not lesbian." And then I realized he's a tourist. - Oh. - Yes. - He's also Canadian. - That's a big part of it too. - Is it? - Yeah. - Anyway, all I'm saying is that I think that a man approaching a woman with curiosity, with probing questions. I said, "Won't give it to me now." - There was also just such, like, and that's the whole thing though, I guess, is like, he always makes you feel like he's gunning kids somebody. He, and gender, it's agnostic. Like, it doesn't matter who you are. - No, I think he's always like, wait, what? - I think you've actually struck upon something that's key to this documentary to me, which is that there's so much, like, tension in every single scene that at some point, it does become sexual tension between him and Billy, between, like, Nathan Field and Elizabeth Holmes, obviously, but with so many people, it's like, there's just so, the room feels so, like, loaded with so much emotion that, in some ways, it just does turn sexual somehow. - Yeah, and I think that's also, like, a part of it, like, the way that they shot it too. It's so intimate, and I think that, like, being contained in that space for so long in their home, it's, like, it's erotic. And when she says goodbye to him to go to prison that day, I wanna re-watch and count exactly how long it is that they are just standing there looking at each other. - It's really just, like, one, an uninterrupted shot of the two of them. - Yeah. - And it's, like, not even close up 'cause it's, it's, like, a wide shot, 'cause you can see the car. - Yeah. - And it's just, like, it's such a pregnant pause, and it's so, it's, like, their eye-fucking. - Yeah. - And one of my friends texted me after, like, do you think the Billy Evans will ever be humble? And, like, he just watched Nathan Field or eye-fuck his wife, so I think the humbling happened. (laughing) But I think he's, like, fine with that kind of dynamic, though. - But I think he likes the social currency of being, like, the partner of the controversial figure. - In the psychosis. - However, he really does. I think they eventually have, like, a real tension where it feels like a romantic comedy, where two men are fighting over the same woman. They both have very different ideas of who lives with is, what she wants, what she's done and not done, and what her real values are. And that sort of, the shifting of blame, doubt, responsibility, and also allegiance, as, I think, is really powerful in this. - Yeah. - And not just that, it makes you think that she's innocent, but that you really don't know who to believe or what everyone's motivations are. - Okay, so let's also get to that, though. - Yeah. - Did you have moments of being, like, I had moments of free her now. - Free her now. - Yeah. - I said she's, she's in political prisoner. She said she's in prison on justly. - Theranos was actually created as a trauma response to, yeah, her rape. - There was a famous tweet that said that. - I don't know if you saw that. - Oh, no. - Yeah. - With that, that is kind of what the story is. - I was like, "Jesus." - Jesus. - No, no. - For you, but if it's a treat, then that makes sense. But I'm like, he's sound like his dad. (laughs) - But I mean, the parent, the parent's involved would-- - That's the dad. - That's the dad. - The dad of it all. Elizabeth Holmes' father, who worked at Inron, he's been scammed twice, you could say. I think that I wanted more from him. - That's the only one. - Like my biggest, pretty good documentary is I wanted more from him. And that one scene of Nathan talking to the dad and Billy being like, "Well, Elizabeth "would really like us outside. "She really wants us to go outside "and to be together as a family." - And like, "Cut to you." - And like, "Cut to you." - Yeah. - The cut to of like, we really have a limited time. We wouldn't spend it as a family. And then, "Cut to them." Like, having a full-long meeting about Theranos part two. - Yeah. - And mom, dad just sitting there like this. Mom sitting there like this. (laughs) Dad's sitting there like, he was silent and he was silenced. But like, I wanted not just more from the family, I did also kind of want a little bit more critique of Elizabeth in terms of pushing her on what was true and what was false. I do believe there are types of people that are like, "I am so convinced I am not lying. "Like, this is just my truth." Like, I may not be telling the truth, but it is my truth. But I do think that there was a room to, I think, have a conversation about like, like, wasn't there a guy that killed himself after working at Theranos? And like, there was someone that she had like, threatened on record. Like, there was a lot of things that like had happened. I feel like could have come up that wasn't just about the machine, whether it worked or not. - Right. - And so I'd be curious what that could have looked like. Oh, I mean, the film itself, three hours long, I could have used more. - Yeah, I could have used more. - And that's crazy to say. But one of our friends who works in A24 was like, he saw like a four hour cut or four and a half hour cut. And he was like, and there was nothing I would have taken out. Like, that's how crazy it is. That was before I saw it that he told me this. I did rewatch the inventor, the HBO outskipney documentary about Elizabeth Holmes from like, 2015 or '16, I want to say. I rewatched it over the weekend. And like, that obviously goes into a lot more detail about like, her specific lies and like the specific fraud. And still, I think of them not as like a, he said, she said. - Yeah. - Both documentaries, but more as just like companion pieces where I think the documentary works. Like, you can see everything has to, you have to have some idea that like, this is a path out to a liar who's talking to you and she seems so believable. And yet, we know that she's lied to get it again. - Yeah. - But the movie doesn't really press when like, the specifics, 'cause it does get back to her being like, well, the box, I'm like an engineer. The box is what was supposed to work. And it's like the chemistry that we didn't have right. And the chemistry that I never, like theoretically, it could. - Yeah. - Can. - But the chemistry wasn't there. And it's like, so girl. Like, you said that it worked. - No. - You said they were trade secrets and you couldn't show everyone how the blood was drawn. Like, we have so much evidence of you running tests on other machines. And then saying it was the Edison machine and that just wasn't the truth. - Yeah. - I mean, something that I will like be real and true and raw, class me, she would have like worked on me. Do you know what I mean? I would have been like, I'm torn by her. - Really? Yes, girl. You see what people are going out with? - Girl, not with that. - Worse and Elizabeth. - That's just a raw leg hair. But I just, I thought that at first, too. When then, I was like, but what was it that might have broken bread together? - What was it that would have worked on you? that she-- - I think I found something of just-- she is just--
that's needing to be I think. And I think that would interest me to want to just have a long conversation. So I don't want to like queen out with the girl, like I'm not gonna watch housewives together, but I feel like I would sit down and chat. Whereas at first I was like, "Oh, she's so clearly crazy. I'm so not interested." And, hmm, something. I don't know, my friend Sarah Hagi was like, "Oh god, white women, classic white women." Like, she knew it was going on the whole time. And like, I never believed her. And there was never. And I was like, "Totally me too. I felt like I also was like, fuck her girl." When really I was like, the egg whisking scene, there's a scene, whatever. Where she's making eggs. Yeah. And she's just doing it so slow, the whisking of it. And then Billy just takes the eggs from her and starts whisking them for real. Yeah. And it's one of those things that like tells you everything you need to know on the surface. Yeah. At the same time, part of her, she was so unfazed by it that I was like, maybe she knew the cameras were rolling, wanted to listen to some kind of reaction, and knew that that kind of thing. You know, we just like dates, and when you know a thing that kind of bothers them, did that on purpose? To like, you know, further implicate him as a one that's a mastermind. Is he now the one that's just like getting this big scheme? Is he the new Sunny-Bawani? Like, who's in charge? Right. And actually, I don't think anyone's in charge. I think they simply match each other's freak. I think Billy and Elizabeth go together. But then it's also that like, at some point, her dynamic with Sunny replicates itself in her dynamic with Billy, which also replicates itself in her dynamic with Nathan. Oh, yeah. Because she really is just kind of performing whatever he thinks, whatever she thinks he wants to see from her. He wants to see her as like a, as a sort of, like, she's coming with her hat in her hand, being like, I, yes, I made mistakes. However, like, I was just caught up in the mix. So she's a star is what we're saying. No, but I do. I, I, it's it's, I feel like I'm so truly grateful to live in the time of Nathan Field, or I know where I'm not coming from, man. But I feel like this was like, I haven't seen a documentary that really moved me like this. And such a long time. I felt so activated by it. I love my phone just coming in with text every time someone sees it. It's such a good conversation starter. It's so nuanced. It's so fun. It's so spooky. And like, I just, I just, I just feel so, I'm so impressed by it all. Yeah. You really, I think the last time I saw a documentary that made me think this deeply for so long was OJ made in America, which I would say all six parts in the movie theater twice. That is so kind of theater. What can I say? It was being like three other old ladies. It was your mom. Like, you be on Mars. Yeah, no, but I think that, yeah, OJ, some said to lose with Holmes Pipeline. There's something there. Yeah. Someone that we know, I won't say who. But I've seen this a lot actually that people are like, I'm not going to go see this movie because it's just like another white woman scammer story that's being platformed and elevated in this way. And as a black person or as like a non white person who's on a criminal, like, why would I care about this? Like, it's just another like Hollywood machine and glorifying like a basic white mediocrity. So what now? So you're going to move on? What else? What else? Sorry. It's our job. We have to. No, but I want to speak to that critique, I think, because I've heard that a lot. And part of me is like, first of all, you have to see the movie because it really, first of all, it's a Nathan Fielder project. He transcends rice. Okay. No, but also that if you think it's going to be a glamorizing story about her, it really doesn't look at the folder. What am I talking about? Look at the poster. Thank you. Look at the poster. Cut that out folder. What the hell? Who's folder? Girl in Google docs. I'm with that. Okay. Ah, fuck it. Keep it in. Whatever. Yeah. I will actually write up to this movie. First thing I did after telling Hunter, her man, she better watch her man. First thing I did sucked into it. I hit a fake and hard and a hard and I cleared the whole cartridge. I was like, that's both crazy. Oh shit. Make sure you got a pack of cigarettes on you after you watch this film.
