Legacy: Building a House for the next generation | Ps Dan Warren

My prayer is in this where there's a heartbeat that says let's build his house but we'll be as a God. Here I am. Would you speak to me? Would you say some things to my heart? And would you help me to be obedient to what God is indeed calling me to do? Every year, when this time comes around, I get excited, I start dreaming. My faith is stirring, I pray that as we do this together, his church will go from strength to strength. We're going to throw to a quick little video of two of my favourite people. True story, I actually taught these two when they were 14 years of age. They now have two children with one on the way, they're married and do an incredible thing in our church. And they've got a bit of a story that I've asked them to share and so I want to be thrown to the video right now. You know guys, my name's Bolton, this is my beautiful wife, Christine and we're the Nussbone family. This is your son Roman, our daughter, Mary and Bob's number three is Jew anytime now. So yeah. Bolton and I have been coming here to Mananan for just a wee year now. We met at Mac, high school, school, arts, got married not long after back then, mum and dad and I also came to here to Mananan to the church. We were one of the families that got sent out to see three cabramatta at the time and we became see three Hockston Park. We were there with us for our own Mary and we've been over ten years there playing TV in that area and it was a wonderful time and then we've come home now to Mananan. A big thing for us has been the kids. We feel like there's just so much ministry here for an opportunity here for the kids. I was a really big pull for us. It was a no brainer really like we felt like this was home and this is the place to be and it was kind of weird for me coming back here. I didn't want to come back to the school, I'm not going to lie. So yeah, coming back was incredible. Giving was always a really big part of our journey. Bolton actually started tiling before he was even a Christian which is kind of strange. Yeah, I approached him when we were just dating and was like I have some non-negotiables. One of them was that I would be tiling and he was very curious and like all what is tiling? Like why would you give 10% and so I had just over the absolute kind of worms. My parents and I sat with him and it helped me explain it all to him. I didn't quite say what's tiling. There was probably expletive in there. He was back there in your world to say. For me I was just curious as to what's the reason, what's the heart behind that and the old one away and I literally googled tiling Bible verses I think, something like that. And Malachi 3-8-10 basically popped up, bringing the ties into the storehouse and test me and this says the Lord of Hosts that I will not open the floodgates of heaven and overflow your barns. And you know as a 19 year old ambitious apprentice on peanuts, for me I was like I want a piece of the pie. So yeah it's showing which you got being felt like I'll start tiling. Yeah Christine I texted that night I think it was and said how do you tie it with the bank details. It was sending my like three cents or whatever it was the 10% off and I kind of forgot about it to be honest I totally forgot about it. I just kind of sat up with recurring payment and yeah it was six months later. We were blessed. I can't even describe it other than just walk like the barns overflowing in the space of I think it was from us deciding to look at the housing market and be curious to go into an open home to then buying a house was like two weeks. I remember when it happened I still wasn't saved when we bought the house and when we walked in this feeling of like what's going on here like this feels strange for me and Christine goes yeah just a piece and like we can't do this like how is this even possible and you know then like that was playing my mind and like all the scriptures and I really started to kind of get dove into hey this kind of god theme I'll be the G.A. Two weeks later we're on 25th February 2019 I got saved at work at the foot of a ladder and I guess the catalyst for that was tithing because it wasn't until you know I tested the Lord and he came through on his promise and he blessed us incredibly it. There's no way I couldn't deny I couldn't have done it in my own strength I couldn't take any credit and so that actually led me to the point of when I was in a situation where I needed to humble myself and ask for another miracle to get this strength to walk up a ladder and feel no fear and then that happened again it was the fact that God had come through in something when I was still unsafe that really opened my eyes and yeah I was saved and I climbed up ladder called Christine I said yeah this is happened and then on the Christian now yeah what do I do what's next you know maybe what do we do now and so I guess Christianity from that point for me that's really changed how we gave as a couple and as a family so last year when the legacy came around and offering was put to the church we had actually just had an investment pay off the conversation naturally came up of like I hate not if we're going to give but how much are we going to give and so we said let's walk away let's pray about it and we'll come back together in a couple days time yeah I gave my number first because yeah yeah okay lower so she gave her a number and it was well above and beyond anything I could imagine yeah my face was very small and so I was a proud husband at that yeah so I was easy that was a good one yeah and we yeah we were feeling committed we just felt like it was a blessing to be able to be a part of you know the vision and be a part of you know building this this church this whole idea of building for the next generations yeah with the kids now and how we came back here and there's three generations of us in this church like we'd love to just sow in and you know we come to the school and to see the school now and what it is and the church and what it is it's like we'd love this to be a part of that in any minute yeah over it all good friend of ours pasted any good much as he has a saying it's God's will is God's bill and so I mean we're from believers that you know this vision is God's will for for this church and God will make that happen you know no matter what whether we give or not he doesn't either see is going to make it happen but what an opportunity that he gives us to be it would to be a part of that to be able to bless the future generations I just think you know why wouldn't you want to why wouldn't you want to sow in why wouldn't you want to you know do his will in in that way in the Proverbs it says you know wise men these inheritance for his children's children our belief is like what we want to do as a family but even also as a church like to be able to possibly see or not see you know the fruits of our labor but to know that we're a part of something that's bigger than us and just be it in the now just to be able to sow into the kingdom and want to on a God we want to honor the people that came before them and and the people that come after us and so if we can just be a tiny little part of that and in the culture of this place is very much like that in Exodus God's asking anyone who's willing to bring what they had to build the tabernacle you know what I mean he's just asking who those are that are willing and bring what you've got you know it doesn't have to be a certain amount it's just bring what you've got and bring it with a willing heart and I think that's that's all that's that's asked of us that's all you know that we can do and it's not for recognition it's not for anything other than the fact like hey we want to sow into a place that you know constantly feeds us and our family and we'd love to see it do that for everyone else my little word of encouragement for anyone's thinking of giving and being a part of legacy this year would be that we've seen two Corinthians everyone gets told you know give it with a generous heart don't give begrudgingly the scripture rightful that says he who sows sparingly will reap sparingly and he who sows generously will reap generously for myself and my story and in in our lives that is so true you know when you do things with the cheerful heart however so small you know like when Jesus said the poor woman she gave all that she had but all the rich people gave in their abundance feel like we get caught up so much and in their figure and a number and and like oh it's this percentage and it's like I don't know in that much but so it's not the point God God sees world pass that he's been faithful in our lives and you know you might not see it then and there you might see then and there might not be financially but there's a reaping that comes yeah absolutely he's always make sure that you've got enough I'm not saying we've never done it before I see it in every way don't miss out on this opportunity to you know be a part of this vision and then see the future generations being blessed by that I think that's really really cool hey man aren't they incredible hey I love them heaps and where are they they heaps somewhere oh yeah awesome they're over there somewhere I love what God's done in and through them and I love that little phrase of being a part of something that might be small today that becomes significant down the track never under rest mate what God can do well why don't you if you got your Bible's here this morning want to open your words to Exodus to the 35 Christine actually referenced that part of this part of the scripture that I want to be able to refer so you hear this morning Exodus 35 we're going to start from verse four in just a second some of the context of what's going on during this particular or script series that Moses is receiving a an offering for the tabernacle during the time. And when you read through Exodus 5 through 10, when you read through the miraculous provision of how God has saved the Israelites from the plight of slavery in Egypt. And they then leave Egypt and they find themselves in the wilderness and most of you know this story. And roughly one year down the track I've actually wandered around, God has this moment where He says, "Moses, I want you to build me a tabernacle. I want you to build a place where the people can come and gather. I want you to be able to build a place where people come and pray and worship and spend time with me." And so Moses, he then goes up the mountain. He says 40 days and 40 nights there. And he comes back down and the Bible says that he's literally radiating a bit like me when I spend too much time at the beach on the Saturday morning. And he's radiating and he has his conversation with the Israelites during this time. He says, "I want to gather all the people together and I want to share this." And so he says from verse four, it says, "Then the Moses said to the whole community of Israel." He wants to say, "Hole." He says to the whole community. He says, "The young and the old." And this morning I want to be able to speak to the whole community of C3 New Hope. I want to share to the whole community whether you've been here for a number of few weeks. And you said, "This is my home right now." Or whether you're like someone like Jenny Simpson who has been here for 51 years this year. I don't care how long you've been, this is something I want to share to every single person to be able to share this, this is the message for all here this morning. So this is what the Lord has commanded. So let's take a sacred offering. Watch this. And I love that Bolton and Christian sort of mentioned this. This is actually not a tithe moment right now. And my encouragement he would be this morning would be, yeah, actually I'm actually by my master of faith. Before you give into this, capture the revelation of the tithe. Capture the revelation of everything that he's given us, both financial and everything else comes from the Lord. And that we are called to be stewards unto him. And that the tithe is a truss, it's an obedience. It's a say, "God, with everything I've been given, I now want to give 10% back to you." Like, "Because I want to honor you, because I want to put you at this very center and I want to put you first in my life." But this here, this is a sacred offering. And this offering is for a specific thing and a specific offering for a specific cause. And a little bit later on here this morning, all of our campuses across our locations, we're going to be sharing them out. What we are believing, God is calling us to be able to resource so the kingdom of God can go far and wide. So we can see more people reach for His glory, both now and for ever more. But so this is a specific offering for a specific time. But what's here, it's for. It says, "It's for the Lord." I pray that our hearts will capture this truth and revelation here this morning. You don't give to Dan. You give through, see through, new hope, but everything that we give, it's unto the Lord. It's for humans, for His glory. It says, "Let those with. " What does that say? "Genorous hearts." And can I say, "I am so thankful that our story has been filled with people from C3, and you hope who have had generous hearts, year after year after year after year." With our legacy, our story right now has been filled with those who have been stirred with generosity. It says, "Those with generous hearts present the following gifts to the Lord. Is this bring some gold, bring some silver, bring some bronze, and right now, during this time these rights might be in thinking, you know, I don't have any gold, I don't have any silver, or, you know, God, I'm fresh out of bronze this year." But then He says like, instead of considering what you don't have, consider this. Why don't you bring some blue, purple, sacred threads? He's saying, "Come and bring what you can. Come and find what you're able to. "Can't come be very bold here and saying, "I'm not looking for C3 new hope to go out "and get a bank loan to go into debt for me like this. "I'm asking, what is in your house? "What is in your ability right now? "What is God calling you to be able to give here this morning?" He goes on to say, "Fine linen and goat hair or cloth, "tans, tan ramskins, "got any tan ramskins here this morning, "but any chance, our fine goats leather, "bring the wood, olive oil, "is this bring spices for the 19?" If he got some, pepper, he says, "Bring that along." If he got some change in spices, bring that along. If you love me, love to put the little chili flakes on the side of everything, bring that along. He says, "Bring what God has called you to be able to bring." You know, I've been discovered that God, very rarely, if everyone will actually ask you to do what you can't do. He, that's not his character. But he's asking this morning, he's asking, I don't know, ask the house to be stirred here today. "Come and bring what God has called you to be able to bring." You know, more I walk this journey as a disciple of Christ and the leader of this house in this time, the more convinced that I am that the answer to everything that we need is found in his house. It's found in this house. It's found in the house of Campbelltown. It's found in the house of Blue Mountains. It's found in the house of Mananan. The answer to everything we have and one of anything we need is found in the house. I love the stories found in two kings, chapter four. And it's the story of a Lysha and the woman with a jar of oil. And Lysha comes and asks her, "What is in your house?" Verse two would actually specifically say, "What is in your house?" He was asking that question because she was in a time that her situation was very desperate. You know, her husband had passed away, her boys were about to be sold into slavery. It was a time of famine. The situations weren't good. And right now you might be saying to Dan, "Hey, have you seen the wars going on? "Have you seen the interest rates going up? "Have you seen the price of petrol go through the roof? "Have you seen these things?" And yet, what the command was, what the instruction was, what the invitation actually was, was when the Lysha says, "Hey, lady, what's in your house?" And what her response was, initially was, "There's nothing." And so she was looking at her, but right behind her right shoulder would have been this little jar of oil. She says, "You got nothing?" And she turns around, she sees the jar of oil. The answer was found in her house. And she says, "Quick, go and find as many vessels "as you possibly can find, go and find them." And so the boys, her boys, her boys from her house went out and went and found as many vessels as possible. And they brought them back to the house and guess what happened as the Lysha was given. God supernaturally pours out and bucket after bucket, vessel after vessel, container after container. What was happening is that oil became little into much. And this is what happens when you put, what we have, we put the seed, we plan it into the ground. God brings a fruitfulness that will rise, generation after generation. And guess what, not only were those boys, not only was the lady saved in that time, they actually had enough for others as well. May we be a house, see through new hope, that captures this truth here this morning. Never underestimate what's in your house. What might look small in your hands is more than enough in the Lord's hands. And God can use a little boy with some fish and with some bread and God feed the multitudes. What can God do with us collectively here this morning, see through new hope? May our hearts be served with that possibility. Okay, so the instructions gone out say, "Hey, come and bring what you can, "bring what God's calling you to do." And I love from verse 20. If we pick up the scripture again, chapter 36 verses 20, it says, "So the whole community of Israel left Moses "and returned to their tents." This is a practice that I want to be so strongly committed to in our house. I'm not looking for any kind of emotional giving. I'm not looking for any kind of emotional stirring or you might be thinking, "I have to give. " No, no, no, no, no. What I want you to do for this week, I want you to go home and I want you to go and seek God. I want you to go and pray. I want you to be hard to be stirred for the things that stir his heart. I want you to go home and talk to your spouse, if that's applicable. I want you to go home and consider your financial situation. I don't want anything where, if you're unable to put food on your children's tables, because you're given, that's wrong. I want you to hear from me right now. I want you to make sure that you are giving according to what God has called you to give and not with any kind of weird financial pressures that the church might be putting on. I think we need to put the first things first here. Let's go and seek God. And so what happens is that they hear the word from Moses, but then they go home and consider what is possible. So they return to their tents and watch this. In verse 21, there's all whose hearts were stirred. Now we read a few verses ago that every single person heard the call, but then we see the next tab is only some. So all whose hearts, which means that not everyone, but all whose hearts were stored, stirred. Church, I'm praying that we will be a church that may indeed have our hearts stirred from God this week. But that does not happen without our ability to go and seek him. What my call is not actually to get you to give at all. That's not the call at all. My call is, may we have our hearts aligned with the things that God wants our hearts be aligned to. I don't make you, I get distracted all the time. I get distracted by, I sometimes think myself, or God, I'm happy with this kind of faith. But someone's like, "Damn, I want you to, "I want you to believe big. "I want to reward your faith. "I want you to step out of that boat. "I want you to be a water walking kind of church. I want you to rise up in the this time. So I'm praying that our hearts will indeed be stirred for the things that stir his hearts. So all hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings unto the Lord. They brought all the materials needed for the tabernacle. What's that suggest? The tabernacle has needs. We've got a vision that will need to be resourced from the people. I am convinced that myself and along with the board and along with our ministry team, our campus passes and ministry leaders, we are called to be able to see God where you call us to. But guess what? The pace, how fast we get that, that is always dictated by the people. By how much we, it goes from hearing to be able to be seed, to believe, to pray, to own, to give, to be able to be a strong part of, I've been out to see the vision come to pass. So my prayer is come run with us church, come run among us as we go and seek the vision of God that God has given us. And so all, and so both men and women are so needed for the tabernacle, for the performance of the rituals and the sacred garments. Both men and women came, all whose hearts were willing. So that common thread, those who are willing, those who had their spirit be stirred, those who were in a position where, where the hearts were stirred and the spirits were moved. Now we pick up their next bit of the story, which I really, really love, in verse 36. Or in chapter 36 we have says they, and who are they? They are the people who were responsible for the collection. They were the people who were a bit like the, the board who were responsible for, um, stewing the finances and making sure that we're, everything was done appropriately and well. They went to Moses and reported that people have given more than enough materials to complete the good, the job of the Lord has come here and asked to do. I don't know you, but that kind of verse excites me a lot. I mean, that kind of verse, we excite every single pastor around the place that I know of, says when there's a report that comes back that people have given and now we have more than enough. And I love Moses' response. He says, so Moses gave the commands and the message was sent throughout the camp. Men and women, don't prepare any more gifts for the sanctuary. We have enough. I want if we can start to imagine this thought around we have enough that people collectively came, we have enough, we're able to resource the vision that God has given us. Now pray that we'll be stirred here this morning that every single person can play their part as we seek God, as we put him at the sensor, we consider the possibility. Imagine the house. Imagine the church in a position where we can indeed say we have enough to do what God has called us to do. You know, a phrase has been well known to our church for many years is this one that as we do what we can do, as we do what we're called to do, God will do what only He can do. And notice here church, the miracle, it was found in the house. It was in the tent. It was in the house. They didn't need to go back to Egypt. Everything the temple knuckle needed that people actually had. I was wondering clear here this morning the miracles in the house, the miracle in the town, it's in your house. The miracle in the mountains, it's in your house. Man and the miracle here is in the house. And I love our church so much. I love our church across all their locations. I'm prophesying even here today that I believe there could be more locations to come in the future. As we see the house, as we see the house expands more and more people reach for the kingdom of God. I'm praying that there will be multitudes and dozens and dozens of people come to know Christ because of the generosity because of the faithfulness of people here today. But I love the buildings, I love the programs, but as the people that I love so much, I love the stories of when I say children look up to their mums and dads when during worship and they capture something in that sort of moment. I love the stories when I hear that youth in Canada Jesus for the very first time. I love to see our young adults capture the vision of God, the purpose of God upon their lives. I love to see people take their next steps with baptisms and serve their house of God. I love to see grandmas and grandads showing and providing with all the runs and the boards they have to lead their families in the way of the Lord. I love the people in C3 and you hope. And I'm calling us to be a pastor who's really special. I'm calling us and I'm kindly, but I'm boldly here this morning, declaring that if we're in a position or we are able to, we can be able to go and have our hearts stirred, that we come and be a part of something really big to build a house for the next generation.
