The episode blends sports news, personal anecdotes, and deep cultural analysis in a lighthearted yet insightful way. The hosts celebrate transparency in advertising and share a heartfelt moment about wearing a vintage sweatshirt from 2011, highlighting authenticity in personal branding. A central theme is the growing fan speculation around Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey’s wedding at Madison Square Garden, where numerous subtle clues—such as a “Garden Party” truck, Willow branches, and a white staircase—are interpreted as Easter eggs, possibly signaling an album announcement rather than a straightforward wedding. The hosts explore how Swift’s entire career has built an elaborate narrative around love, legacy, and performance, suggesting the event may be a meta-commentary on celebrity culture and public perception. Meanwhile, they discuss LeBron James’s decision to leave the Lakers, noting his likely move to Golden State or Cleveland due to proximity, familiarity, and personal ties. The conversation also touches on nepotism in sports, referencing LeBron’s son and its implications for athlete offspring. Ultimately, the episode reflects on the power of storytelling, fan engagement, and the blurring lines between public performance and private life—offering a rich, layered analysis of modern celebrity culture through a sports gossip lens.
- Testing, testing. - Testing, testing. - Eight, eight, two, three. - It's hot in New York, the testing song. - The testing song. - Let's see how it sounds. 90 degrees. - Let's see if you can hear the air conditioning. (upbeat music) - Hi, Charlotte. - Good day, Madeline Hill. We're back with another episode of the sports gossip show presented by eBay Live. Woo, woo, woo, you know, I just have to, yeah, I have to compliment you. I love this tune that you've started doing after every eBay Live announcement. - Thank you so much. You know, I tried to switch it up slightly, but then it always kind of comes out the same. Which is why our show is consistent and wonderful. If I do see something myself. - It's true, no, it's true. It's true. We have to try to switch it up, but it always comes out the same. - It's always just us gabbing about something and act instantly, most of the time. - Most of the time. - I love the location that you're filming in today. - Thank you so much. Different location in my apartment, and I thought I would honor your Naked Spur poster. We used to record in front of a new apartment with this vintage movie poster for notorious. The old-- - Not sponsored by this old movie. - Not sponsored by Ingrid Burman's estate. - What, there you go. - What if it was? - Well, that would be cool. That would be weird. That would be the first podcast sponsored by, you know how like ABG authentic brands group just owns like dead celebrities images? - Yes. - What if it was like brought to, the sports guys that brought to you by Elvis Presley? - Oh, everyone be like, what's going on here? - And we would also say we don't know. We don't know. - And you know what? - What's going on? - I think Ingrid would have loved our podcast. - She would have loved it. - I think she would have, I think she would have been a shareholder. - She would have been, she would have been. - Wait, what if this year for the sports gospel words, one of the awards is the Ingrid Burgman's sports costume shareholder award? - Yes. - Yes. - Yes. - Okay. - I also think we should have an award I'm making this up right now. So another suggestion is best ad read for the year. Like our favorite ad we've done. - That we did. - That like our ad, yes, yes. 'Cause there are some that are pretty stellar. - There are some that are, I would be shocked if anything but Macy's won. But you know, you never know. - I love Macy's as I always say. - I love Macy's, we do. We do love Macy's. - But we really do, we do. We love eBay live as well, but also Macy's. - We really love all of our sports. Honestly, like these are, we're not kidding around folks. We're not doing a bit. - We love these sponsors. We do. - We really do. - Okay, well, I just, I would like to shout out the sweatshirt that I'm wearing. It's the Rockport Bo Club sailing program sweatshirt from 2011 when I was not to brag the head sailing instructor. My last year there. And it was, it's a really good job. - You can be sitting in the instructor. I highly recommend it 'cause you sit in a boat all day. - That's your dream. That's literally your dream come true. - I'm just wearing a t-shirt. It is my favorite t-shirt. - Not sponsored. - They did send it to me. But it's my favorite t-shirt from Aurezia. - Nice t-shirts. Recommended. - That's it. - Beautiful color. - Thank you. They're just like a little ribbed. I think they're like 20 something bucks. Not too bad. I own literally so many of them that I paid for with my own money before they sent me this one. So thanks Aurezia, not sponsored. - I love you so much, board. You're like, here's the deal. - Oh, well, I mean, I'm all about ad disclosures. I mean, I used to work at social media. So I know how important it is to be clear about what's going on there. I just said, I got served a TikTok from an influencer. And it was very obviously sponsored by a brand. And she does not disclose that it's sponsored by a brand. - No. - Yeah. - It's not comfortable. I mean, I'm pretty sure. - Okay. - Hmm. - People in the comments were like, "This feels like an ad." And she didn't say anything. You always got to disclose. - Yeah. I don't like that at all. - No. No. - Anyways, we're all about transparency here at the sports gossip show. - Yes, we are. And speaking of transparency, let me transparently share what's coming up this episode. We have a fabulous episode for you. We will obviously be talking about the American royal wedding between the Taylor Allison Swift and Kansas City Chiefs Titan Travis Michael Kelsey. We looked that up. That's his middle name. They are supposedly getting married at MSG. We will see if that's happy. We'll be talking about everything we know so far. But before that, we have to talk about the fact that LeBron James announced that he is going to be leaving the Lakers. We get into that. A quick World Cup update. Mexico broke their curse. Very exciting. And Serena may have an injury. So after all, it will then singles return. Yeah. - You know what I'm saying? - It sounds like this is gonna be a great show. What if we were like, and that's where we're talking about and we're not talking about this thing. That was just what we needed to say. And now on the show, on words. And then we talk about, you know, I don't, I mean, this is what we were talking about if we could talk about anything. So I guess that's what we were talking about. You know, it just occurred to me. - What? - The title for a segment, World Cup date has been there the whole time. World Cup date. - Wait, but I don't know. It's kind of like an update, a World Cup update. - Oh. - Wait, but you're saying, I thought you're saying like, World Cup space date, like a date. - Oh. - And I was like, we could certainly pitch that to him or a dating app. I was like, what, but no, I get it now. I get it now. - Okay. - World Cup date. - A World Cup date. - Trade market. - Trade market. Boom. All right, well, let's start with Ms. Serena Williams who we talked about a couple of weeks ago was, she, we knew that she was gonna play doubles with her sister Venus at Wimbledon. She qualified for singles. She got the last wild card spot. Madeline, it didn't go great. - No, Serena lost in three sets to Australia and Maya joint. Redhead. - Oh, so that's exciting, I guess. For me. - Representation matters. - Even though I did really want Serena to win. But according to her agent who released a statement, she said that Serena, quote, tweaked her right knee at the end of the first set. And she's questionable at this point to see if she will play with her sister Venus in doubles. I'd be really sad if that doesn't happen. - I know. - Me too. I mean, just, this speaks to, I think, you know, when we did our episode on the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders and America's Sweet Hearts, the Netflix show, something that we didn't talk about was kind of, what we've talked about a lot in regards to athletes and Tom Brady specifically about how hard it can be to move on to the next stage of your life and how it's kind of cruel in some ways that athletes spend the first part of their lives honing their craft and getting so good at something. And then your mind can still do it, but your body at a certain point, like it is just very difficult to compete when you're in your forties, although, you know, certainly Serena can do it. - Yeah. - It's just harder when you're in your forties and you're playing people who are much younger. And I think we just see a lot of times how difficult it is to move on. - I know. I know it does feel that way. And I mean, just unfortunately, it's like, her body is not the same as it was when she was 20. I mean, I believe that Maya was 24 years younger than her. Something like that. And it's the second biggest age gap, I think, or something that Wimbledon, someone can correct me if I'm wrong about that step, came up on ESPN when I was watching that. That is just hard. It's like you, it's even though she is the goat and will always be the goat, it's like, it's really hard to keep up. And at a certain point, you gotta kind of say to yourself, is it worth me putting my body through this to lose in the first round at Wimbledon, a tournament I have won many times? - Yeah. I know. And it's tough because I think when you're that competitive and we've talked about this before too, you have to have a little bit of a screw loose in a complimentary way to be a professional athlete, to think I could be the best person in the world at this. And when you're Serena, who is the best person in the world at this and has been for her whole career, really. I can imagine it's that much more difficult to say, like of course you think you can do it because you've always had to think you can do it and you have been able to do it. So it's like, why not we start with Lindsey Vaughan at the Olympics? And so, you know, it's amazing when it works, but you know, why not try, I guess? - Yeah. I hope she gets put.
with her sister at the minimal. Me too. Me too. I just would like to see that. I kind of actually tear more about that than her advancing singles because it's like, let's be real. I don't think she's winning a major. I don't think that's happening. I would love for it to happen, but I don't feel like it's happening. Whereas I feel like doubles is a little bit more of a chance and her sister is a good doubles partner. So yeah, we'll see. We shall see. There was a, in happier news, a very exciting situation in the World Cup on Tuesday night. Yes, there was a little bit of a World Cup date as Charlotte coined minutes ago. Mexico beat Ecuador in their knockout round match 2 0 in Mexico City. Very exciting, very historic. It's the first time that they have advanced to the next round in 40 years, which is crazy. So it's a long time has been lifted. Wow. Also, you pointed out this is Mexico one in Mexico in the knockout stage, Canada one in Canada in the knockout stage. And full transparency, we're recording this on Wednesday. You will be listening to it on Thursday and we don't know yet, but everybody listening will know whether the United States men's national team has been able to win their knockout round on their home soil. So I know I'm like, in some ways, it would be very American to just be the only host country to not advance. I would love for the US to advance, of course, of course, Team USA, baby, but it would also be kind of kind of poetic in some ways. If Canada and Mexico in the US doesn't. I think given the current state of American politics and it would feel not that we want the US to lose, but it would be like, well, the karma wasn't on our side. Right, right. It's not, yeah, energetically, maybe the stars just won't align for us, given the vibes in America. But hey, you all listening, no, and we don't. So that's very exciting. It's really exciting. We don't know. We don't know. We don't know. So that's what's exciting about this show. All right, moving right along. We need to talk about LeBron James's announcement that he will not be returning to play for the Lakers next season. He will play somewhere else. So what's going on there, Charlotte? Let's go on on here. Madeline, this is there's so many moving parts to this. So LeBron James is going to be 42, I believe in December. And he is still going to play basketball as we suspected. He's not going to retire. I think it's also worth noting in his last season with the Lakers, he finished the season averaging 20.9 points, which was his 23rd straight season scoring at least 20 points a game. That's crazy. So he's still an unbelievable basketball player. Yeah. You know, he I think felt it was time to move on from the Lakers. Things weren't really working there. Like the Lakers clearly have to rebuild without him, you know. Yeah. And there was that reporting that came out from ESPN a couple of months ago about it seemed like there were some tensions between the bus family and specifically Jeanne bus with LeBron. And that clearly felt like a seed being planted by LeBron's camp to hint at maybe a departure coming. So from a PR standpoint, this wasn't very shocking to find out. No, you called it when that when that article came out, Jeanne bus, who's the president of the Lakers used to be the owner. The writing was on the wall. And I think something interesting in light of the episodes we did about Diana Rossini and Mike Grable and sort of the culture and industry of insiders, quote, you know, capital I insiders in sports media, whose job it is to break news, but also to further certain athletes agendas based on the relationship with the agents. ESPN's Sham Sharania has a very close relationship with Rich Paul, who is the CEO of clutch sports, who's been LeBron's agent for a long time, also the husband or long term partner now of Adele. Yeah. The singer important. And so they're the ones who gave Shams this information, which again is just like, you know, keeping track of who's giving what information to whom. Can my favorite, can I tell you my favorite part about this whole thing, Madeline? Yes. So Tuesday, we found out that LeBron was going to, quote, move on from the Lakers, be still going to play somewhere. On Monday, however, the Lakers officially committed to keeping Bronnie James, the son of LeBron on the Lakers with a guaranteed $2.29 million for the upcoming season. So LeBron got his son paid. Yeah. And then he said, oh, but, but I'm not sticking around. So if there was anything in the Lakers minds that was like, look, we're going to use Bronnie to try to keep LeBron here. He was like, well, no, just pay my son. No, no, LeBron was like, I'm going to work her straight. My son's small payday. I think it does, I think it is equal to his skills on the basketball court, I would say. You know, he's had a couple good games, but I would say overall, he's worth about $2 million by my GM. That feels right. But I do love that he got him paid. And then was like, cool, now I'm going to formally announce that I'm going to go somewhere else, um, which is just kind of funny. It's like, it's got to help your kid out on the way out. Yeah. You know, it's using your power as a, as a parent. And exactly. You can, I really can only respect it. Right. Because you know, if you think about it, there are a lot of athlete NEPO babies, um, Carlos Boosers, son Cameron Boosers, going play, what did you go to one? He went, no, he went through. Okay. Well, he went early. Yeah, good. You would have got good players. So it's like, it's funny. I feel like the NEPO baby conversation are on athletes because there are so many children of athletes who are now either playing at top D1 schools or playing professionally in whatever sport they're playing. But it's like the NEPO baby card works for these kids because they have unlimited resources to be able to like get the best trainers all of these things. But then their NEPO baby characteristics are literally just like genetics, you know, being like my dad, like, Bonnie, Bonnie, his dad is LeBron James. So like, he already has inherently built. You can't ever argue. It's like, yeah, you literally are a NEPO baby quite literally where it's like, you know, actors could you're like, sure, I guess is that in their genes that they're good actor. But I feel like a lot of NEPO baby actors aren't very good at acting. Do you not? Yeah. No, it's, I think what's so fascinating about Brony is, you know, Cameron Buzzer, who also has a twin whose name I'm now totally blanking on, but that's fine. Carlos Buzzer's kids, we're very good at basketball. And, you know, deserved, I would say, to go high in the draft. Brony James was taken like 50 something. He played, he averaged, you know, he was not, no one would have looked at him if he hadn't been LeBron James's son. So I think the Nepotism has to be so potent. Like, if you're that is so famous that LeBron's name counts for more than Brony's skills, which we see with actors all the time, because a lot of times it is sort of merit-based. It's like, even if your dad played in the NBA, a lot of guys played in the NBA and have sons who are now trying to play in the NBA. Your name has to be so famous that it's like, ah, it's okay that you're not that good at basketball. No, it's true. It's true. It has to, it has to be like, you have to have a shoe, a shoe, name tag, you know, so you don't have a shoe. Sorry. Well, also, maybe we're just in different times in terms of the leverage that star players have, because Michael Jordan's son, Marcus Jordan, who famously dated Michael's ex teammate, Scotty Pippen's ex-wife, Larsa Pippen. Yeah. He tried to play basketball. He didn't get on an NBA team. No. Well, he really, really, really, I don't want to happen with the NEPO baby jeans there. What's going on there? You know, but like the Michael Jordan's name at the time wasn't even strong enough to get Marcus Jordan guaranteed $2.3 million. Right? Yeah. That's kind of tough questions. It's true. Yeah. It's true. Yeah. Well, at this point, there are a couple possibilities of where LeBron could go. One of them being Golden State. Yes. Where Steph Curry plays, Dremont Green plays. The interesting thing here is that Dremont Green declined his player option, which would have given him a lot of money, but he still wants to be in Golden State, which makes it seem like, okay, I'm willing to take a little bit less money to get other people that we need here. Is that personal, LeBron? Who's to say? It would be fun. Yeah. Well, I also think just from a practical standpoint, one, he's friends with a lot of those guys played with Steph, and who else was on the national team on the, you know, the Olympic team. I think Dremont was Dremon? Oh, yeah, yeah, I think he was on the Olympic team.
So it's like, there's familiarity there. There are also, I feel like older and they're all like, oh, we just want to hang out with our pals. We don't want to hang out with these young kids. (laughing) No. I think that's also part of it. I also think straight up from a practical standpoint, playing in San Francisco is like a 45 minute private jet flight or what an hour to where, I mean, he lives in, what does he live in, the Valley Cal Basis or somewhere where he lives? Like, it's not far commute. So he doesn't have to move. No, you know what I mean? It's like, well, sure, he'll get an apartment near the San Francisco or something, but like, he basically can just commute to work. He'll get a nice little pad in Marin County. Right. It's like, as LeBron has said. So we know. Oh, that piece, I love that. No, but it's not like he's gonna go play for the thunder. I mean, he's already famously been talking trash about the, was it the, our Memphis being a bad city, the hotels, or was it the San Antonio hotel? I think it was Memphis, Memphis, Memphis, Memphis hotels. Why you gotta kick them when they're down the climb? I know, so, so I'm like, I just don't envision LeBron not playing in like an A tier city. Sorry, no shade to Oklahoma city, but you're just not that. Sorry. And he's not gonna move. It's like, he's old. He's stuck in his ways. Do you think he's gonna move? No. Well, which is brings us to our next point, which is Cleveland, which is he wouldn't have to move because the first mansion he ever bought is in Cleveland. I pretty sure his mom still lives there according to some reporting from the great team at the athletic. And so he could just go back home where he already won a championship where he was drafted. It's very symbolic and he still wouldn't have to move because he could fly back and forth between LA and his home that he already had. To me, it seems like it's either Golden State or Cleveland based on LeBron's lifestyle. I also think Cleveland obviously was pretty good this year. They made it out of the first round of the playoffs. It gets swept by the next, but that's okay. A lot of people did. So if you think about Golden State, it's like, maybe if you get enough of the old guys together, they have a chance against the young guy. If you like, Steph Cree, LeBron James, Dream on Green, there's some chatter about maybe Anthony Davis coming over from the Wizards, even though the Wizards don't want that. So it probably won't happen. But rather than have some of these old guys trying, and I say that as someone who is their age, but instead of having them like trying to do this with like one or two of them at a time, it's like, just make it the Avengers of old guys, give it a shot. If it doesn't work, you've had a great time. If it does work, holy moly, how historic. Exactly. It would be amazing. It would be amazing. I kind of feel like it's a win-win either way. Yeah. I think so too. I don't know why. Even if they have like a mediocre season, I don't even think people care, 'cause I just want to see them all play together. And the sports gossip we would get with LeBron on the Warriors. Oh my God. Could you imagine? Oh, the only thing funnier is if Kevin Durant also goes back to the Warriors. He's like, what about me? He's like, hey, I did it before. Could they logistically do that? Do they have the salary cap space? Probably not. I don't think so. No. I'm no GM, but going to the second, what is it called, a second band, second, second apron, second apron, second band, is so much better. That's what it's called from now on. It's a second man. Second man. It's a second man. Yeah. For what it's worth just to get a little sportsy up in here. Cleveland does have the money to pay LeBron $15 million according to the athletic. Also, I think Golden State could do it. So, but those feel like the only two options. People talk about Miami, San Antonio, blah, blah, blah. No, it's not good. He's fine. No, it's not happening. It's not happening. I think people sometimes overcomp-- it's like, it's not that complicated. He's either going to go to a place that he knows or to his friend's that he knows. That's it. Just like I mean, that's it. As someone who is close to LeBron's age, I get it. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I don't believe, you think I'm going anywhere? You think I'm going to a place that I don't know? Or like, it's either or. It's either people I know and I like or a place that I like. I'm not doing anything. Exactly. He's not going to like the Charlotte Hornets. No, what are we-- no, no. It's LeBron. Come on. Forget about it. Forget about it. Wow. OK, I guess we'll see. All right. Well, I guess we will see. On that note, we'll see you later. Let's do it. Before we get into the Tavis wedding updates of it all, have my bank right here. My little eBay live. Well, why can I-- oh, there we go. There it is. Oh, wow. Chanel. Chanel. Hey, watch out. Thanks, eBay live. OK, let me read the question. OK, can I actually-- can I cough real quick? Yes. Cough, one second. [BEEPING] OK. OK, we're back, Charlotte just coughed. The question is, what vintage designer dress do you think Taylor Swift should wear at her wedding? Ooh. OK, put it back. Put it back in its little bag. Do you-- so do you think there's any-- obviously, it seems like she will have something custom-made. Oh, for sure. Do you think there is a world in which she ever would do a vintage, like maybe like the gown that Grace Kelly got married in or something? Yeah. I can't necessarily get that on eBay, but you know what I'm saying. Well, but you can get some very high-end designer archival couture on eBay. I could see her maybe wearing archival d'Or, because Grace Kelly believed or d'Or when she got married if I had a memory served me correctly. I could see her wearing something like that maybe for a rehearsal dinner. Like something vintage and interesting. Oh, sorry. Wait. I know. What? What? She-- to her rehearsal dinner, she's going to wear one of the dresses that Elizabeth Taylor wore to get married. Oh my god, yes. Wait, yes. Call it it now. Call it it now. Yes, she's obsessed with Elizabeth Taylor. She is the song Elizabeth Taylor. Oh my god. Elizabeth Taylor got married seven times. She has their necklace. She's been wearing Elizabeth Taylor vintage jewelry. OK, I think you may be right about that. So what I would do if I were anybody listening to the show or myself, I suppose, is go on eBay or go on go on the internet. Go online. Go online. www.blankinternet.com and see what dresses Elizabeth Taylor wore to get married and then go to eBay live and type in similar styles and see what they have. I think it'd be really fun to do that. There's so much fabric. I mean, truly, this is sponsored by eBay. But I do just want to say, you can really find some incredible vintage dresses on eBay. And eBay didn't ask me to say that, but it's true. You can really find some incredible Bob Mackie vintage dresses on eBay and Blanket on another brand right now. But I had one in my head and I have it on the tip of my tongue, but I can't remember what I was going to say. Well, you can just find a lot. All of them. All of them are there. And I've realized that my wardrobe is mostly vintage stuff at this point, whether it's a dress or a rug, be sure from the '90s. And they're mostly from eBay. So go check it out. Go check it out. So my mic moved back. It's hanging on loose. I'm just going to, OK, there we go. We're still good. Things to our mailbag sponsor, eBay live, can't miss livestreams, heart pounding auctions, iconic fashion and collectibles. Whatever you're into, you can bring it home right now. Don't miss another second at ebay.com/ebaylive. Boom, boom. All right. Now on to the main event, Ms. Taylor Allison Swift and Travis Michael Kelsey's upcoming nuptials that are supposedly happening at Madison Square Garden in New York City, baby. Madeline, this is, this has been blowing my mind, the information that has come out of here recently. It's crazy. It's really crazy. So supposedly, according to a law enforcement source who told CBS News last week, Taylor Swift's team ahead of the nuptials had applied for a street activity permit from July 2nd to July 4th. So there's something happening from her world. It obviously seems like a wedding. But I still, as I keep saying in Charlotte, I'm like, is it really, is she really getting buried? This, like, now? This week? No, I know. - In New York? - In New York? I think for those who have followed Taylor Swift's body of work and public relations strategy as closely as we have. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it does feel like sometimes when something seems obvious. It's too obvious to be happening in Taylor Swift world. However, what makes her such a genius at keeping people on their toes is that other times when something seems [BLANK_AUDIO]
it just is the thing that you think it's going to be, right? It's really hard to tell with her. It's hard to tell. It's really hard to tell. But I'd like to just run through what we know so far. And this is as of recording us. So maybe by the time it comes out, we'll have more information, but this is what we know so far. So reportedly, she is having a rehearsal dinner today, tonight at Madison Square Garden in the theater. That's a Madison Square Garden. I saw some photos, like I think people were thinking like it's literally in like the the seeding air like in the theater. But I guess there's a ballroom. It looks like attached to the theater. That's in Madison Square Garden, which to me logically makes more sense unless she's having the dinner on the stage, which maybe perhaps that is the stage where Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart did their live roommates show after winning a championship. So maybe she just really likes the nick. Wait, is this the next function that would be happening on that stage? Has there been other things since then? I don't know how often that stage is. I would imagine so because it's New York City, but also like, right, maybe not. Who knows? Who knows? The rehearsal dinner reportedly is for 100 guests according to page six. And we'll start at 6 p.m. and end at 10 30 p.m. Eastern. So how we will see? How do we know this? Sorry. Page six knows it. Sources revealed quote. And that is a quote from page six. Okay. So we have two questions. Yes. Is this tree pain Taylor Swift's red-headed publicist? Hmm. I gotta be honest. I think it's James Dolan. I think it's Madison Square Garden sources. Yes. That's what I think. Okay. Yes. I think it's Madison Square Garden because there was some reporting that came on. I think maybe before this page six story broke from ABC News and Good Morning America, which is a very friendly outlet. The Taylor Swift has revealed like, I think she did like a tour announcement. I remember she did the lover fest. If wow, if I'm really going deep in the vault, I think she announced that at the time ahead of COVID. If anyone remembers that on Good Morning America. I think her latest album too, like she is deep in with Disney. Yes. Which host Good Morning America, the Aristor is on Disney, the Aristor doc like yes, yes, exactly. So I kind of feel like the page six sources are someone in the James Dolan front office. Yes. I think I could be wrong. No, I think I think you're right because if we everything we know about Taylor Swift and her camp, they are so buttoned up. There's no way that tree pain would give the exact time of an event and I wasn't thinking who else would know. So, but obviously like yes, MSG. Yes. MSG. That is so funny. I don't know why that's so funny. Then also according to page six in the same story, they had information about the timeline for the wedding day. Supposedly doors will open for the wedding. I've never heard doors opening for a wedding, but it is Taylor Swift. For guests at 3.30 pm and that cocktail hour is going to start at 4. On the 6th floor concourse, it was that specific. I'm sorry. What level with the sweets? Wait. No, sorry. This is according to page six. Okay. Having just isn't that where the sweets are? I think it is. I think so. No, no. I think that's where it's not where like the media room was, where we were sitting. Yes. Or was that no, I think that was five. I don't know. Where's Fred Katz when you need him? Fred Katz. Should I text Fred right now? I'd be like, which floor was the meat? Yeah. Well, regardless, it's close. Regardless. Regardless, it's just kind of fun. MSG. Like, I'm like, I want to know, are they going to have any vendors open? You can get a hot dog indoors open? Because it's like, I'd be getting there at 3.30. I'm like, I've got to get there early. Yeah, you know, and supposedly then the ceremony will start at 5.30 on the arena floor. Again, also according to page six, which is also wild. And the reception is supposedly going to kick off at 6.30 and it's expected to run until 2 in the morning. I mean, so talk about a wedding. Talk about a wedding. I think so. We. This is wild. This is wild. Yeah. It's really crazy. It's really crazy. And obviously ahead of this function, wedding or not, there's been a lot of crews bringing stuff in. And most of it has been covered up by these black tarps. And I actually just saw before we started recording that they have now put up. If you click the link, Charlotte, you can see the one that says they've now put up a tarp. They have put up a tarp where they're loading and unloading things on the side of MSG where the deliveries go. So they're like, I think trying to make it, yeah, even more secretive. But TMZ, like, you know, most of the things are covered up. But there've been some signage on some of the delivery trucks and on some of the boxes. And one of the delivery trucks that I believe arrived on Monday, maybe on Tuesday, was labeled Garden Party one scenic in parentheses. And then another one was spray painted GP Garden Party. So maybe that's for the cocktail hour, perhaps. I don't know. That's interesting. I mean, if there's anyone who knows how to dress up in arena and make it look the way she wants to, it's Taylor Swift. She's done it on multiple tours in arena as much larger than MSG. I do think it's interesting. That's the kind of thing, it could be, it could have been an unmarked truck. This feels like something that she wants people to see. And anytime Taylor Swift wants you to see something, I can't help but have 10,000 more questions of like to your like, maybe the funniest thing here is that this is in a wedding. Right. I know. I know. Because I mean, we talk about like Taylor Swift has famously said before in interviews that she doesn't give Easter eggs about her personal life only about her professional life. And I'm like, having that written, I'm like, you could have just put like cocktail hour one, you know, no one would be like, oh my god, what is this? But to be specific that it says Garden Party one scenic, you're like, why did you give it a code name that kind of feels like it's not. I don't know. I'm like, no, I didn't. This all could just be for her wedding stuff. And she's not even trying to play games. But I'm also like, Taylor Swift, baby, let the games begin as she has said, like, yes, yes. I mean, it's really fun. I think obviously the episode we do next Tuesday is going to be all about what we find out in the aftermath. If anything, we'll be very interested to see the rollout. But it is really fun to just look at everything that's going on through a Taylor Swift lens. And we will don't worry. This is a sports podcast. We'll get to the Travis Kelsey of it all. But we've got to go through the rest of Taylor's whatever she's, whatever she's cooking up. Yeah. Another thing that she's reportedly cooking up according to TMZ is that they're building a castle inside of MSG. Which again, to me, castle, I'm like, sure that's, yes, she could have been building a castle for like a scenic backdrop for her wedding. Like it's like a fairy tale, blah, blah land situation. But I also like it just reminds me of debut and love story and fearless. I don't know. To me, I'm like, that's why I'm just like, maybe I'm just too cooked in the brain as a Swiftie. I'm like, she's announcing like an album or something. I'm just like, what it, it's just hard for me to be like, she's really getting married. And the reception, the rehearsal dinner is tonight. And she's getting married tomorrow at MSG. And there might be a castle. I know. I just think I'm too cooked in the brain. Yeah. I think we're too cooked in the brain. However, I do think that Taylor Swift has trained us to be cooked in the brain, which makes me think maybe we're onto something. Right. It's hard to say. Yeah. Another thing that I think also was Swifties got jumped the gun. Perhaps on it is that there was a photo of a worker wearing a Taylor Swift Carpenter's shirt. If you click on it, but then I have checked TikTok to confirm that this comment was real, but someone replied to it basically being like, Oh, he wore it as a joke. But I don't, again, we don't have verification about that other than a comment from someone who supposedly took the photo of this person who was working on bringing in the supplies from the trucks. But again, you're also like, did this guy just happen to have a shirt that said Taylor Swift Carpenter's on it? That feels specific. I also like, or he straight up works on her tours. You know, I'm sorry. I don't I don't know what the joke would be. Do you know what I mean? I'm like what's right as I'm saying. So I don't know what's going on there. Okay. There's also speaking of flowers and foliage. I would love for you to click on where I put foliage arriving. There are some hints at some foliage. That if you click on the second one, you can see you peering out some, wait, wait, I might be able to try and leave these are. Oh, what are they? You're going to say I'm crazy. I think these are Willow leaves. No. And she's a song called Willow. I think that these are, I think that these look like the tips of a Willow brand.
watch. See, that's what I'm saying because, okay, again, highly plausible that she's straight up just getting married. And that's the most obvious answer. And that's what's happening. Like the LeBron's going to play for Golden State. Hey, also just getting married at MSG because it's highly secure venue. Very good for all of her famous guests. Okay. That's like sure. Most logical option. The other alternative here though is that she has invited all of her closest friends, family, and famous friends included in that list to MSG. She is building a homage to her career. And this is all just deployed to announce debut Taylor's version. And it's like for as a new album as a Taylor Swift 13. Yeah. Like and this is all paying tribute to her catalog. Yes, because here's the thing. She thinks a lot about her legacy, which is right, totally understandable. I think sometimes people say that in a negative way. I really, I think it's a great thing. I think think about the mark you're trying to leave on the world while you're leaving it. Right. To your point, she could have not had what appeared to be Willow branches peaking out of a box. It would be very easy to hide everything completely. But she didn't. And you know, the funniest thing here is if it's just like she's announcing that she's being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. That's like that's that's sort of what I hope is I hope it's something a little weirder. Like I know everyone thinks it's a wedding. It would be so funny though. And like very Taylor. If it if it really is an album announcement. And I think that would be it. Maybe they're already married. Maybe we'll never find out the details of their wedding. And this is something else. Yeah, I'm just like she is up. You know, she's a very public person, but also a very private person when she chooses to be. And it's I just find it hard to picture that this is her only if this is her wedding that this is her wedding. I don't know. I'm like maybe I'm just too much of a tinfoil hat swifty at the moment, but it's just really hard for me to to imagine that that's really what's going on. But I guess it also could just be what's going on. Well, yeah, but but I think something, you know, Taylor Swift is someone who is very dept at using her fame and sort of twisting it. She's basically a performance artist when it comes to being famous because she knows how not to be seen. And we know that so every time anything she's doing is seen, it does feel kind of like this meta commentary on tabloids and parosocial relationships and celebrity culture. It seemed like she's so smart. She knows exactly what she's doing. I can't help but think things that are this obvious Taylor Swift Carpenter, the branch is poking out. It can't help but feel like there's something some greater commentary going on here. And if there's not, then that's also great. But it's really fun to think about. Right. I think if it's a wedding, I think Taylor Swift is smart enough to know that we are thinking about these things. And I think that's also probably part of why she picked the venue. If it's true that it's her wedding, she's no dummy. She wants us to be having these conversations about her wedding. And another thing I would like to point out is, if you click on staircase, because again, another piece of material that was being delivered to MSG is a white staircase, which again feels like something that would be representing one of her earlier eras, like the fearless era again, or debut, feels very romantic. That again, I just, it's like, I do think that if it is her wedding, she's very conscious of the fact that people are taking photos of anything that they can get access to, which are these little clues. She loves Easter eggs that I'm sure in her mind, she's like, I'll give fans something to chew on, which is for them to think that this is like something related to an album when it's really just my wedding, but I'm going to have almost like I'm going to have my swifties there, even though they're not actually there by having these little clues, like if it's a willow tree, or the staircase that feels very early Taylor Swift era, as like throwing a bone at her fans almost. Wasn't there a staircase in the love story music video? Yes, I think so. Yes. So it's hard not to make all these connections. And yeah, I think you're right. I think she wants us to. I also think I keep coming back to the fact that she released her album before this wedding, and that the engagement photos were tied in a way to that era. And she had pictures of her with the big engagement ring on in some of the artwork for the fate of Ophelia. And she talked a lot in the marketing for that about a play within a play. In Hamlet, in Shakespeare's Hamlet, there's a play within a play. And I can't help but feel that something about this has to do with a play within a play with the performance of love of marriage. And I'm not saying it's not genuine. I think it, but that is not what I'm saying. I do think though that she is so smart about how our culture attaches so much value to a woman when she's married. It's like, now you're legitimate. It's like, okay. And I, she's talked about that. She's written songs about all of this way too much for this not to feel like something more. Yeah, it does feel like something more. I mean, her last album that fate of Ophelia is on is Life of a Showgirl, which is all about the, to your point, the play within a play. What does it mean to be a famous woman in the spotlight? How you're treated by the media? What's true? What's not true? What, what the facade is? That's kind of between you and the public. And also, not to go back to the staircase. Now, I'm remembering, isn't in one of the, I think in one of those music videos, there's a big staircase scene with the kind of Vegas showgirl looking outfits. Which do you remember? Which one that was the fate of Ophelia? It might have been fate of Ophelia. With the staircase. Yes. Yes. And it might have been that music video. And look, these are literally pieces of a stage being brought into a venue where people are entertained. I'm sorry. She's too smart for this not to mean something. And even if it's just a wink at everybody who's ever talked about her love life, even if it's like, sure, here I'll throw you a bone. I'm finally getting married, you idiots. But it's too, it all, it all falls into her greater point these days. Yeah. Whatever is going on, wedding or not, it all feels very intentional in that there is a lot of deeper meaning behind it. And yes, it's true. Oh, my God. This person who has so much money is getting married at MSG. It's like, well, yeah, because she can. She can afford to get married at MSG. Is anyone shocked by that that she's having an extravagant over the top wedding? I'm sorry. Have you seen some of these vogue weddings that are not a famous people? They cost millions of dollars. Like, yeah, of course, Taylor Swift's going to have a dramatic wedding. But regardless, I do think she knows that people will be talking about her wedding regardless. And I think this is all part of the plan. Wedding or not. It also, you put something in here about the carpeting on stairs. Oh, yes. Madison Square Garden. That is so feel carpet on stairs. I'm sorry. New York City. That is the Met Gala. That is the red carpet that everybody goes to. She doesn't go to the Met Gala anymore. The Met Gala is part of her lore, which you can go look up. It's almost like she's taking back the Met Gala to and being like, yes, I'm going to make it bigger. Right. Right. Yes. No, it's true. She's making it bigger. She's going to have all of her guests. I'm sure walk up the carpet. It will be tended, I believe, according to reports. So you probably won't be able to see much. But again, similar to the Met Gala. It's true. You're right. I do think that is certainly part of the reason why she's getting married there. She just related to the carpet. They had put down this is just kind of funny, like red kind of colored carpet. And then they ripped it up. There was like a PA or someone out there instructing the crew to rip it up because it was supposed to be purple according to reports, which again, lavender haze. Purple is a common color for Taylor. In her music video, she wears a lot of purple
esque dresses, the enchanted dress from the air extort. I think was purple. One of them. So again, it all feels connected to the lore of her public persona. And I think that's intentional. I have a hard time believing that's a mistake. You put down the wrong color carpet. How did it get there? No, like everything feels stage. I'm sorry. And I'm not in a bad way. Just in a way that like, she really makes it fun for her fans. I also just can't really get over the fact that she is marrying Travis Kelsey of the Kansas City Chiefs. Tidy into the Kansas City Chiefs. And I think he would be the first person to tell you, yeah, I can't really believe it either. Right. And maybe part of it is a nod to the cheerleader and the jock in some of her early work too. It's like, I think she's giving the people what the people think they want when it comes to this. And at the same time, maybe she's doing exactly what
she wants. But it's too big of an opportunity not to tailor Taylor's whole body of work has so many themes of a happy ending or something not working out or what is true love anyway that what an amazing opportunity to play with people. Yeah, it's like the it's the final chapter in her story of which is the public version of herself. Yeah, which is also so funny because she has publicly said people were like, well, maybe she'll stop making music when she gets married and she was like, are you high? Like why? I know. I know. I know. I am the most career woman you've ever met. Are you kidding me? Like don't don't degrade me by saying that. So it is it feels a little bit like a wink. Like here's the ending, even though it really is a beginning. It's just a beginning. To me, it feels like, well, I kind of feel like it's the ending of this era, this not talk about Aristotle. It's like she did the Aristotle. That was about her catalog of music up to that point. This feels in some ways like a culmination of all of that work and the work of her being in the public eye in this version of herself. And having this over the top wedding and Madison Square Garden feels like the nail in the coffin of like the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Because she's dead. Yeah. It's like, oh, you had fun making slideshows of the people I've dated. Here you go. It's over. Have a good time, everybody. It's really. Yeah. I can't wait. I can't wait to find out everything that happened. And obviously we'll be talking about it all. So don't you worry shareholders. We will give our full analysis. And as we said already on Tuesday, Taylor, you want to come on the show talking about your flowers or Travis? Just open invitation. Just put that out there once again. Can't think of a funnier or better PR move for both of you. Just saying. Just saying. No, that would be so funny. Just think it would be fun. It would be fun. We have a great time. Wow. Well, also Travis, I wrote a roller coaster with you, dude. Like, come on, man. Hey, we know your people. Come on. We go way back. We go way back. We can make it happen. I think it'll be fun.
