(upbeat music) - Lemonada. - Hi there, last day listeners. It's your long-lost host, Stephanie Little's Wax. I am breaking my radio silence to share some exciting news. My new book, "Last Day," how to stop losing our loved ones to the opioid crisis, hits bookshelves next week. This is why we've been on hiatus. I wrote the book, the book is coming out. It is everything I've figured out over the last seven years about opioid use disorder, addiction treatment, harm reduction, and how to prevent overdose. This book was conjured and inspired and shaped by this very show, and by all the knowledge I've acquired over the years from addiction specialists, people in long-term recovery and policy experts. When we started making last day, I truly had no idea what I could have done to help my brother when he was in the throes of a severe opioid addiction. Now, I have definitive answers, which is why I wrote the book. In one of my earliest interviews for season one of last day, I asked Sam Snodgrass what the risk factors are for addiction. And without missing a beat, he said, be in human. He's got a killer arc in sawdraw. So if you are human, this book is for you. It's also for your friend or sibling or partner or anyone who needs to understand what to do about the opioid crisis. Because guess what? There is reason to be hopeful and there is so much we can do. But wait, there's more. To celebrate the book launch, last day is coming back for a four-episode many season, revisiting the opioid crisis with fresh eyes. We'll be talking about grief and loss, unconditional love and radical acceptance, connection and reinvention. I am so excited to be back behind the mic and hope you'll tune in. I also would be so grateful if you could go to the show notes and pre-order the book. Pre-orders and first week sales genuinely matter in the book world. They tell publishers and booksellers and all the people who make decisions that this subject has an audience and deserve shelf space. So if you could go to bit.li, bit.ly/lastdaybook and order your copy, I would be so grateful. And if you have a choice, go with an indie book shop. Also, I'm gonna be hitting the road next week on a little mini tour and again in September that tour schedule will also be listed in the show notes. So please tune in next week for an all-new episode of last day. Pre-order your copy of the book at bit.li/lastdaybook and if you live in New York, LA, San Francisco, or Houston, come out and see me in person. I would love to see you there. As always, thanks for your support and I cannot wait to see you back here next week for an all-new episode of last day. [BLANK_AUDIO]
