Kylie & Jane Lynch on Glee Reboot, New Donna Kelce Cat Plan & A Very Royal Invitation | Ep. 82
62m 59s
Kylie Kelsey hosts a lively, conversational episode of *Not Gonna Lie*, blending humor, personal anecdotes, and pop culture. The episode introduces a new Mavily New York setting mist praised for its long-lasting, non-sticky, dewy finish that feels like natural skin. Kylie shares her lifelong loyalty to Bare Minerals makeup, while highlighting her love for football, parenting chaos, and public pumping. A key guest, Jane Lynch, brings warmth and humor from her iconic role as Sue Sylvester in *Glee*, discussing the enduring popularity of the tracksuit and her experience hosting *Celebrity Weakest Link*. The show also features audience questions about men’s grooming habits, football knowledge, and parenting routines, all handled with wit and empathy. A recurring theme celebrates small, authentic moments—like family chaos, public pumping, and nostalgic TV moments—through humor and shared vulnerability. The episode promotes DoorDash as a practical solution for busy parenting and BJ’s Wholesale Club as a deal-driven shopping option. A fun blind ranking of iconic fashion from *Glee* concludes with the classic tracksuit topping the list. Throughout, the tone is playful, inclusive, and rooted in real-life experiences, making it both entertaining and relatable for a broad audience.

Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chit chat about some fjorn hockey and maybe kids, we'd love to have you. Happy Lama Sad, Lama Totally Rad, Mama Super Lama Drama Lama. Can you guess what the top comment is? No. Glee reboot when? I would love to do it. I'd be the first one in line. I'm not gonna lie. I'm sick of these kids trying to tell me stories after I've already scratched back and said I love you. It's been time closure, eyelids and stop talking. I asked for these stories at the dinner table and you did not offer them up. Now at 9.30 at night when I'm fighting for my life, it's not the time. It's not the time. It's not the time. I want to know the details. It is not the time. Oh, let's get this podcast started. Welcome back to a brand new episode of Not Gonna Lie, a wave original brought to you by all state. And just to get this out of the way, go birds and go on cool trap. We're taving this less than 24 hours after both wins and I'm still pretty hype about it. Now, I wish that the Eagles would just safely win. It's shaving years off of my life. Cut that out. Okay? You know what's not shaving years off of my life? The fact that Uncle Trav broke another record. That's right. Because he is the best. I said what I said and I'll say it to anybody's face. Okay? Go ahead, Trav. Yes. Now, I guess I'll try to focus. I'm your host, Kylie Kelsey, big giant fan of fat bear week. Happy fat bear week to all who celebrate. There is a outstanding display, just an outstanding display of bears, specifically fat bears who are, they're worthy of your support. Okay? Now, some favorites this year, chunk for the repeat, maybe, but a lot of people are rooting for female marshmallow. That's right. Her name is marshmallow who is reportedly, this is a quote, a quote the fat as she's ever been. Why can't anybody, why can't anybody cheer me on when I'm the fat as I've ever been? Who are we getting? Has been cheering on that fat ass, am I right? Okay, anyway, contrary to popular belief, I did not adopt another dog, guys, guys. My friend Alex said, speaking of, we're going to test out myself control again next week with some more adoptable animals from the PSPCA. I'm so excited. And to answer the question, many of you are asking, yes, all that shit was really in my minivan in the cleanup video we posted. Someone really said that can't be real. Oh, oh, never mind. The next comment on that comment is notice how it's only men saying that. A few other observations from the comments, someone said, it's Jason's NFL locker all over again. Guys, we're meant for each other. And we also got our first candidate for SMA of the week courtesy of that comment section. Someone said, Jesus, don't get it. Don't let it get that bad again. Make the kids take trash in every time you get home. It's easy. Do you know how many there are? Are you new here? There's four of them. Do you know how many snacks they eat on an average 10-minute car ride? 42 each suck my ass, dude. It's not that serious. It really isn't because guess what? It got cleaned. Sometimes things get away from you. Stop acting high and mighty. Okay. You're telling me that if I open every single closet in your house that it's going to, it's going to be tidy. That's not the life that my ADHD brain lives in. So you can suck my ass. I knew we were filming that content, so I held off cleaning my car all summer long. Chill out. God. Take this stick out of your ass. Coming up on today's episode, I'm going to answer even more semi-unhinged questions from the real ones about men who have a problem with women who like football. We're also going to be treated to some all-time doom scrolls about grandparents getting away with literally everything, Princess Kate, the field hockey phenom, and pumping in public. After that, I'm so damn excited for this. I'm going to be joined by a comedy icon, actress, comedian, queen of the singer, and someone I have you guessed it, no business speaking to, it's Jane Lynch. What? Guys. What? No. What? I can't. She does hit us with my office. Now, she hit us with it. She susylvestered us, stay tuned, or you'll miss it. Gosh. But first, let's start things off with real one comment of the week. And this week's comment comes in the form of a real one TikTok, because I got a shout-out from comedian and content creator, Seeruse. Let's see this clip. Do you know Kylie Kelsey? I know her husband. What's his name? He did. Which one is that? Philadelphia. She's amazing. Like, very, very progressively thoughtful, articulate. I would do that with me, with him, if she talked more. I would have seen-- I think they have it together, no? I don't know too much about that, but I think the big thumbs up. Are you fucking kidding me? Knowing about me and not my husband, or my brother-in-law, wild take. Thank you, but also I could tell you about them. They're great. You'd love them. They're a good time. But also, can we just have a moment of pause for this beat? I feel like I could stare into their face for like six days straight, and just let it burn into my retinas. Get out of here, but stay so I can stare you more. Do we? You guys a special guest? Are you good? Are you going to-- are you going to be a special guest? You can check on Seeruse on TikTok, if you haven't already, some hilarious NFL TikToks. Let's see him rage beating his boyfriend. Can only two teams play at a time? Like on the field? He said what? Are you waiting to get a touchdown without like getting a touchdown? Like in the end, like making it to the end is there are seven points that you can get without doing that or no? Can you do it without crossing that line? If you have any football questions, I might be able to answer them. We could try, although I feel like you already know the answer to a lot of your questions. Just a thought. All right, that's it for real one video of the week. Next up, the real one sent in so many questions last week that I'm going to answer a few more bangers in a brand new edition of Ask Me Some Things, because some of you can't be trusted with and ask me anything. Ask me some things is brought to you by NFL Sunday ticket on YouTube TV. Every game, every Sunday, all in one place. First, are we, are we doing?
rapid fire. We were good at rapid fire last week. You're a little too good at rapid fire. Ah ha ha ha! Wow! It was too fast, too rapid of fire. Queen Emma said last week was too rapid. That was too good at rapid fire. So this week we're going medium fire, she said. Apparently I did not provide enough context to any of my answers. Although I did show my husband my answer about the dancing, because I still feel like I nailed that. His response? Travis is enthusiastic. Not the point first up from Jordan. What should I do if a guy I'm interested in says, "You're weird for liking football." I'm sorry, Queen Emma, but I fear this is the most rapid of fires. I think you should tell him to suck your ass. Yuck! Is he intimidated because you know more about football? Is he bothered by the fact that you've paid attention? Is he upset about the fact that he can't impress you, because he can't make it look like he knows a bunch about football, because you actually know either the same amount or more, I think, maybe. Go find someone who's going to really enjoy the fact that you have a shared interest. On a similar note, we also got a question from a new football fan, Barbara, "Babs, what do you got? How do they decide where along your line to snap the ball? Help us, Swiftie. Learn football. Go birds." Deadass? Deadass. I have no fucking idea. I'm so sorry, Swiftie. I wanted to help you. Deadass, I have no idea. My assumption is that it goes on the yard hashes on the side of the field where the play finished. But I don't know, and to be quite honest, this has not impacted me in any way, shape or form watching football. I'm being told that's correct. That was just my assumption. I just don't want to say it with my whole chest, like I'm right or that I've read that rule. Look at us, babs. Barbara, we got there. And last, someone asked, "Are you a music on or off person in the car when you drive alone?" Now, I think there's a population of people who would say, "Music off in the car by yourself?" But there have been a number of times where I have gotten in the car turned. There's nothing on. And I get all the way to my destination. And I realize that I was sitting in silence. Sometimes I do that. Sometimes my thoughts are so loud that I actually don't need any extra noise. Yeah. Now, if I had to choose between some of the requests that my children have and sitting in silence, I may also choose silence because you can only listen to the descendants for soundtrack so many times. And for the people who are like, "I put on food fighters and my kids cool." I'm happy for you. Cool. Occasionally, I can get away with Beyonce or, I don't know, Paramore or Keisha Cole. Occasionally, I can get away with it. Oh, Chennai Twain. We got into a little Celine Dion last week. But sometimes I just get bullied. And sometimes I've had enough. Let me tell you, Olivia Dean has been on repeat in our car. So that music on, Olivia Dean, music on, Olivia Dean. Oh my gosh. Is this for real? For real? Okay, apparently Spotify has an update now where kids music will no longer affect your rap or recommended playlist. Kiss my ass, you're kidding. That's amazing. Wow. Talk about adapting. Hell yeah. Oh, I'm so excited. That really, that brought the vibes up. Wow. Because like, don't get me wrong. I'm so into, like go noodle. Yeah. We Lama'd all the way to school today. Happy Lama's sad. Lama totally rad. Mama's super Lama, drama Lama. Big bad mom Lama. Moose. Goose. Lama on the loose. This is my favorite part. President Obama Lama. Yes, we can. The fact that the whole mini van is jammed to that is ridiculous. And I love it. How about that for Rabbit Fire? All right. That's asked me some things brought to you by NFL Sunday ticket on YouTube TV. Let's keep it scrolling and rolling with Doom Scroll the Week brought to you by DoorDash. First up as a mom to enough creatures. This grandmother is really testing my aunt Uncle Grandparent Privilege policy. Queen Emma, the clip, please. This video says that's weird. My mom became a grandmother and forgot how to say no. I think that's a universal experience, honestly. For our audio listeners, the kid is walking into the house with a new aquarium with a little fish in it, like a little, a little, a little aquarium, a kid size aquarium. Grandma's standing next to the car, smiling and waving. Interesting. Couple questions. Just to clarify, does grandma live at the house now? Is full-time fish care? Because that's the only way this makes sense. I think mom has to be on board with any additional heartbeats added to the household. I feel very strongly about that. We have had a fish in our house. Its name was Passy. It kicked the bucket. It to be clear, it lived for a while. RIP, Passy. Pours them out from a dead homies. We're unsure why. Was it the fact that someone sunk some, some markers in the fish tank and died at blue? I don't know. If I could have saved Passy, I would. Okay. But also, don't bring heartbeats in the house about love, appropriate for me. That's, that's ridiculous behavior. We don't do that. Because you know who's going to be responsible for those heartbeats? You guessed it. Mom, I don't think that our DD would do this. I think that, I mean, if they wanted to get us a cat, ladies, ladies. Don't, don't get us anything with a heartbeat, DD and Nana. For my audio listeners, I'm winking. Don't hurt Lisa if you're listening to this. Feel free to get us a cat. Don't, don't. Jason. Don't us. Women have to stick together. I know he's your flesh and blood, but let's be real when it's boring women. Just kidding. Am I? Okay. Next up, Princess Kate just reminded everyone that she's still an absolute boss at Fjordhockey. Let's see this clip, Queen Emma. It's like a face of a face coming out. Who's she apologizing to? Did she hit someone? I would love that. Now, here's the deal. First of all, looks beautiful doing it. Love that. For everyone in the comments who are about to correct me, I'm aware that she's actually playing the Scottish sport of Shinti. I'm still calling it a win for Fjordhockey because where do you think she got that skill? Yeah, that's right. She's a Fjordhockey player. Also, this brings me to another point. I would just like to point out, I think ESPN did us dirty as a sport. Okay. There's a clip that went viral a week and a half ago, maybe, where ESPN posted a highlight shot in a Fjordhockey game. And it wasn't our best showing. I have to be honest. No disrespect to the athletes that are involved in this highlight clip. The person who took the shot did a great job. The goalie was trying to do whatever they could to try and get back into position to play and ended up falling on the ground for a second. Okay. Sometimes you do what you can. But it wasn't our best showing. And we got ripped to shreds in the comments. I would just like to say, first of all, it's a bunch of. Are we going to say it? I think everyone already did. It's a three-letter word and it starts with M and ends with EN. Also, Fjordhockey is correct to me if I'm wrong production team. Fjordhockey is the fourth
the most popular sport in the world. In the world, soccer, cricket, basketball, field hockey, mother fuckers. God damn! I think we might be able to find another highlight clip that would encourage men to sit the fuck down and stop leaving stupid comments. And also, Princess Kate, she showed you what's up. That's a transferable skill, field hockey, go into shinty, we like it. I've never heard of shinty, and now I'm intrigued. Are we going to Scotland? Should we go to Scotland and play that sport? Here's the thing about the sport of field hockey, we all have to stick together. So, Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chit chat about some field hockey and maybe kids. I don't know, we got a couple things in common and our husbands chit chatted on the other podcast. But you could come on this one. I don't know, just a thought, it's a thought. We'd love to have you, no pressure. Please, okay. And lastly, as someone who's breastfed four tiny humans, I've had to pump in some unique locations. Let's see this, the text over this clip says, "Me wearing my discrete pumps in public." And, well, this woman was blessed, and so her discrete pumps have only made her bra, even more of a lift, if you will, into the pumps are hanging out at the top. And you know what I say to this? Hell yeah, hell yeah. Nothing enhances a conversation, like a nice little. Bzzz, bzzz, bzzz, bzzz. Now, I was a lazy breast feeder. And by that I mean that I took them with me, not the pumps, the child, because they wanted it straight from the tap. But the wearable pumps are a game changer. Are we going to look like Madonna or the robots from Austin Powers? Yes, but also here literally sustaining life in front of your eyes. So appreciate it, Marvel at it. In other pumping news, shout out to the writer who brought a bedazzled, breast pump to the Emmys. What a badass, these are the types of things where we take away the stigma of trying to pretend like we're being like demure and secretive. And I don't know, cut that shit out. It's amazing that you are breastfeeding your child or even crazier exclusively pumping. I bow down to you. I say that every single time I bring it up, I bow down to people who exclusively pump. That's insane, just the idea of washing a pump makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out. You guys are amazing. You know one should have and feel any type of way, similarly to breastfeeding in public. No one should feel any type of way about pumping in public. If you have wearable pumps, fucking go for it. And I will happily pretend like I can't hear your milk pouring into the cup. I'll do it. I'm here for, I'm committed to the bit. I hear nothing unless you want me to acknowledge it and then we can have a good giggle. Okay, I like this. That's it for Doom Scroll the Week brought to you by DoorDash. Jane Lynch is coming up right after these messages from me. Being a person is tough enough these days, let alone being a parent. That's why I use DoorDash because when life gets crazy, DoorDash just helps bring some order to it like this past week when we were gearing up to watch the second half of the Eagles game. Yeah, that's right, ice cream for dinner. I said it and then we did it because sometimes you have to and you know what, DoorDash came in clutch with that. Real life needs real relief. That's why DoorDash is there for whatever you need whenever you need it. Life with kids is wildly unpredictable. No matter how much parents try to plan, there's always going to be chaos. The real ones know that I've had the same makeup routine since the very beginning. That's not an exaggeration. I've been using the bare minerals original loose powder foundation since high school. Matt specifically, I was actually decent at makeup because I come from the YouTube era. There were some amazing YouTubers that were really guiding me through that but my base for any look I did was always bare minerals. I didn't stray from that. I go at the product, I never have to second guess, bare minerals, take your vitamins, wear your minerals. Their original loose powder foundation is talc free foundation that provides all day coverage with a naturally luminous finish. My favorite part about wearing it is that it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything and also it allows you to still see my freckles which like, I want my skin to look like skin but it's the most lovely little blur. Look at her. Here she is. This is the one that's actually in my makeup bag right now. And now you can use code NGL for 20%. They're getting a discount. And now you can use code NGL for 20% off, apply it at checkout at bareminerals.com. Bare minerals, mineral powered life approved. I am Jane Lynch and I'm not gonna lie. I hate it when men don't shave the backs of their necks. I know that they don't see it but we do. - We do have to look at that. - Right, so it's like if you're shaving, just clean it up. - Clean it up. - Clean that stuff up. - You know what the craziest part is when it runs into their back hair. - Yeah, and it's like continuous. Your husband's pretty hairy. - He is a pretty hairy guy but there is a gap between his neck hair and his back hair. - He's got a gap. Occasionally it does creep forward head hair to beard hair. - Oh. - Well, I guess technically neck hair. But that's only when we've gone too far between the hair color. - Do you know who groom him? - Good. God know. - No, you don't do it. - Okay. - That is not my responsibility. - That's actually-- - Remember doing a movie. - Judd Apato, I don't even know if you'll remember this. Of course he won't because I was fascinated. He's a hairy guy. - Okay. - And his wife, the wonderful actress, Leslie Mann. - Yeah. - First day of shooting, he's sitting there and she walked up behind him and in front of him and gotten his nose and plucked. - She groomed her. - That's love. - That is true love. Occasionally I'll get my husband on an ear hair but not really not for the purpose of making him appropriate for other people to look at. It just, it seers at me when I'm sitting next to him on the couch. And then I just have to-- - Are you one of those pluckers? - A thousand percent I am. - Did you, what's get gross here? How about like-- - Dr. Pipo Popper? - Yes. - A thousand percent. - She was on celebrity week as link to drop the main show. - In my show. - Incredible. - Wow. - To her. - She is perfect, perfect, perfect. I don't know. - I think so. - She's, my family is so like my sister and my two nieces were so into that. We send each other, like we go online and look at. - Yeah. - What is it about that? That makes it so satisfying. - I'll tell you what. - Please do. - It's the tension and then the release, literally it's-- - And. - Yeah. - It's slow mo. - Okay, I won't go any further 'cause there's probably people gagging right now. But how it comes out is so satisfying. - That's outstanding. And the fact that you met Dr. Pipo Popper herself. - She's amazing. She's amazing. - That's why you should watch the weakest link. - Right. - Never know who might be on there. - You never know. It's gonna be a big surprise. Gosh, that's good. - Yeah. - Thanks. - Also, I watch men's haircuts online. Like I watch, you know, I know I'm gonna do a two there and a three on top. That kind of stuff. And so they come in looking like Neanderthal. - Yes. - And leave with a crisp fade. - Crisp. - Oh, fade. - It's good enough. - And I love a beard. [BLANK_AUDIO]
And not, you know, I don't like them too, yeah. I don't like them too short. If you're gonna have a beard, have a frickin beard. - Yes. - Like your husband. - Yes. - Just have a beard. - Mm-hmm. - Keep it, keep it groomed, man. - Yeah. - Keep it groomed. - There is something very nice about, like, ooh, just clean lines. - Isn't it? - It's not scruffy or scraggly. It's like, yeah, it is. - Yeah. - And it says they care. - It does, you know? It does, they care about their, about their parents. - And considering how much women have to care, it's the least they can do. - The least they can do is keep your damn beard clean and your neck shaved. - And your neck shaved. - Right, let's not, let's not grow the neck hair into the back hair. We don't, we don't want to see that. - We don't need a turtle neck of hair, guys. - No, we don't, we don't. - Oh God. - It's a game of thrones, guys. It's 2026. - Shaver neck. - Shaver, damn. - Okay, I'm gonna intro you. - I love that. - I love that you're a pimple popping. - Yeah. - It really does scratch an itch. - Okay. - It does. - She's the Emmy award-winning comedy legend, you know, from Glee, 40-year-old virgin, best in show, Talladegan Knights, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and a heavy hitter in the Calcy household, Wreck It Ralph. We also get to watch her continue her streak of playing the hard ass, everybody loves as the host of Celebrity Weekest Link, Monday Night's On Fox. She's also a fellow dog lover, aunt, great aunt, and now she's officially not gonna lie. Jane Lynch, welcome to the show. - Oh, thank you so much, Kylie. It's so great to meet you and I'm having so much fun so far. We just started. - This is like, this is a dream come true, honestly, because not only am I a massive fan of your work, huge, but I'm also a massive fan of your height. - Back at ya. - Okay. Now you're a fellow tall queen as we call 'em around here. - Oh, I love it. - I do have to ask, there were conflicting stories online. Are you six feet tall or are you five, 11 and a half? - Well, I'm six feet tall, but here's-- - I'm claiming the full six feet. Let's put it that way. - Do it. - I measured myself recently. My wife and I measured each other and I was five, 10 and a half. - No. - It was the end of the day. - It was, you were compressed. Your gravity had worked all day on this. - Yes. - Absolutely. So in the morning, she's little and she was like, five, three and a half and she was like, no, no. - No, I do not claim this. - Right, she does not claim it. So we measured ourselves in the morning. I was my full six feet. - Yes, you were. - Almost five. We'll give it to her. - I'm gonna let her have it. - Come on, men lie about their heights all the time. - Yeah. - We'll call it a roster height, if we really need to, but beginning of the day is the time where you should be measuring yourself. - Exactly, you're compressed, that was exactly highly. - Now, what's the best part about being a tall woman? - And this is interesting, 'cause I just did a show with someone who's taller than me. Most superior men. - Love it. - The best thing, then I didn't realize until I was in the confines with someone taller than me, is the ability to always look up, always have the bird's eye view. Now, Melissa's at least an inch taller than I am, and it felt weird, Kylie. Have you ever been with a woman who's taller than you? - I've been around a couple women that are either very close to my height or slightly taller. - It feels weird. It feels I felt unempowered. - Oh, I felt kind of weak. - Okay. - Now I know how the rest of the world feels. I felt kind of, I don't know, I didn't feel my full self. And then I got out of Melissa's environment, and I'm like, ah, I'm back, I'm back. And of course, she's the nicest person in the world and she carries it with something I felt little. And I don't like it. - I feel very strongly that we have to, we have to roll our shoulders back, stand tall, and we have to own it, 'cause it really does. I know what you're saying, when you stand near someone who's taller than you, it sort of like shrinks you a little and not on purpose, just 'cause you're like, oh, I'm in your shadow and that's weird. Usually, I am the one casting shadow. - You too, that's why it was so weird. - Yes, but I'm so often around large men, I ask the parent question 'cause my dad is six foot nine. And so when I stand around people taller than me, I just, it almost feels like a warm hug. - Yeah. - Yeah, that's good. - And my husband's six, three, yeah. Yeah, so it feels nice, no, my mom is five too, so I can stand next to someone itty bitty, and it also does not feel odd to me. But I really, standing next to other tall people, sometimes I'm like, ooh, I feel itty bitty. - Yeah, it's different. - Six nine for sure. - Now, I'm gonna ask a stereotypical tall question. - Yeah, absolutely. - Did you play any sports growing up? - Of course I did, I was recruited out of the hall in high school, I was the center of the basketball school. - Of course you were. - I was pretty athletic, but I wasn't a great basketball player. So I tried, I struggled, I was on the varsity team as a sophomore, and I did all right. But I was a baseball player, a football player, playing a hard ball with the boys. And I was very good if I do say so myself. And then I ended up playing softball in high school. - Now, are you a sports fan? - You know, I used to be. I'm from Chicago, and you kind of can't grow up and should all go and not be-- - A fan of dubbers. - A fan of your socks, fan of your dubbers. - Dubbles. - So you don't have a feeling about the field of egos? - The egos? - The egos? - The egos? - I don't. - If you will. - I don't have a feel about the egos. - Okay, how do you feel about Philadelphia in general? Have you been? - I love Philadelphia. - Yes, you have. - We perform in Philadelphia a lot. - Go on. - Okay. - Her dad has a bar in Germantown, are you familiar with Germantown? - I'm very familiar with Germantown. - It's called Flannery's Tavern. - I would like to go to Flannery's Tavern. - You need to check it out. People say about Chicago anyway. It's like a small town in a big town, 'cause it's Midwestern. - So we all keep our feelings, you know? - Yes. - Kids and everybody's, "Hi, how are you?" - Yeah. - Maybe we don't mean it, but it's a nice place to visit. - See, that's where you come to Philly and someone says, "Oh, how are you?" Kind of AS, thanks for asking. - AS. - Kind of AS, you know? - Yeah. Well, speaking of sports, the role I'm guessing people ask you about the most, and please correct me if I'm wrong on this, is the cheerleading coach? - Of course. - Sue Sylvester. - Is that safe to say? - Yes, safe to say, very safe, say 100%. - How often are you asked to channel Sue and insult someone you just met? - It's so funny people ask me that all the time. - I don't want to let the people down, Kylie. So I have a couple in my back pocket. - Sure. - Like I'll say, I'm no longer carrying photo ID, because people should know who I am. Or if they want me to insult them, which happens a lot. I'll say, loving musical theater doesn't make you gay. It just makes you awful. So that's a good one, I'll pull out. - And they love it, I'm sure. - I love it. - I love to be insulted. - Now, do you have a favorite Sue Sylvester Zinger? Like a quote from the show Direct? What's your favorite? - Let me think if I can remember how I say it, okay. - I wonder if it's one of the ones we have here. - Okay. And she sells her house, and she says, so I salted the backyard. So nothing would grow there for a hundred years. Why? They wanted me to pay their closing costs. - So dramatic. - I love it. I love it so much. - Thank you. - Now, how do you keep a straight face delivering lines like that? - That's fun. - I guess I could sew into it. - I don't think I've ever cracked up it myself. - Never? - No, because she, you know, playing her, you have to feel it. - You have to feel it. - You're just about it. - Right. Yeah, I've made other people laugh where they can barely get through it. - I can only imagine. - More than I'm looking at you sometimes we, sometimes I would laugh because he laughs so hard. - Right, 'cause we had so much fun. - So you're only laughing at him? - Yeah, I'm laughing at him laughing at me. And I have to give all praise and credit to our writers. Just Ian Brennan, especially, good Chicago boy. So we kind of had no, you found each other. - We found each other. And he's one of those really nice guys too. But he's dark deep down inside. Just like I have to. I'm like, nice midwestern girl if I can be dark. - Drop it down. Go to the doubts. - Drop it down. - I like that. - Yeah. - No, the Fox TikTok account just shared a clip of you in character as Sue from last season of the weakest link. - No. - It says, "Glee reboot when." - Oh, I haven't heard anything about that, but I would love to do it. I'd be the first one in line to do it. - I will be seated as the kids say. I will be sat. - I will be sat. - I will be sat. - Now, one way Glee gets to live on is through one of the most popular memes on the internet. I'm sure you know it. It's Sue. - Oh yes. - There. - Oh, I'm going to create an environment. So toxic. Oh my God. And then that badger-owned thing. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've seen it. - And people have been putting,
things in there. Just switching it up. Now, have you ever personally used this? I don't think I have. Makes sense. You loved it. I don't know. You lived it. Right? You want proof. But people send me that. Do that. And everybody's so damn clever. The internet is very funny. The corners of the internet, they make me laugh out loud. Yeah, me too. I never laughed so hard. I know. It's when I used to do Twitter. I don't anymore. But, you know, going on Instagram and also some of the most talented people in the world. I've ever seen my singers and the best song writers. It is comedy people. It's the nice side of the internet, you know. It is. It is. It is. The real ones know I'm a proud BJ's wholesale club shopper. Have been for years. Now, something else from Glee that lives on is the Sioux Sylvester tracksuit, which brings me to a game we like to play here called blind ranking. This time we're going to blind rank your most iconic on screen fashion brought to you today by all state. Okay, this game is basically the blind ranking side of it, the blind side bit is that you don't know what's coming next. So you just have to rank them one through five. One so spot is taken. It's done. It's done. Yup. Okay. Wow. Sounds very clever. Let's see tricky. Now, first up, we've got 40-year-old virgin Paula, the manager at Smart Tech. Thoughts on Paula's look. I think it looks great and everything. Yeah, I hated it. I thought I looked fat, Kylie. Look how skinny I am. How dare you. Isn't that crazy? Oh, I thought it made me look fat and I didn't like the white pants. Just weird. Okay. Look how young and beautiful I am. Look how young and beautiful Steve Carellas. So I didn't like it at the time. Yeah, crazy. I mean, I give a million dollars to look yeah, this is this you explaining that reminds me of my child looking at a picture two weeks ago and I said who's that and they said dad dad and I said who's that and they said La La. La is our nanny who's in her early 20s and I was like no, no, that's mom when she slept. That's mom when she slept. Interesting. Yes. Exactly. You're looking pretty good, Kylie. Thank you. It's the whatever the concealer. That's what it is. I saw you putting it on. Uh-huh. Now, where do you rank Paula's look one to five, one to five, one being the best five. Perfect. Because because you're scarred from it. Yes. I'll look like I'm looking at that going you're so damn cute. You do look great. Okay. I don't know that there's a single look in here. You don't look great. Next one. One of my favorites. We got this look from Best in Show. Oh, I love that. It's a good it's a it's a classic now to go to too. I'm going to say to high up there. What's the best part about working with Jennifer Coolidge? You never know what she's going to do or say. But it's never scary because she's a great improviser. So she's always with you. Right. She's always right there. But she comes up with the weirdest. I don't remember one thing. Not this movie. But in Mighty Win, she was talking and I was watching her shoot this. So she didn't come up with this. They said something like what does it like to produce sheets of producer? What's it like to produce a show? So it's a lot of stuff I wasn't expecting. Like I'm responsible for things like snacks. I mean it's always the weird. It's always just weird. And it keeps showing your toes. Oh yeah. It has to keep it exciting too. It does. Okay, so you're really kind of fell in love doing that. We became very close. So your rank in Best in Show two. Two. Great. All right. Number three. Another one of my favorite shows. Next look we have Sophie from Queens from Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Oh goodness. Now you want an Emmy for this role. Does that boost it in the rankings? Yes and no. Okay. You know, I only wore it one episode. I never went back to it. But it informed the whole characterization. I wish I could give it two. I'm going to give it three. Now we have another look. This is possibly cheating. I don't care because she's an animated icon. Sergeant Calhoun. Come on. Damn. Bad-ass. Look at her. It's also fascinating that she, like the resemblance they got is outstanding. They they videoed us. I wish I looked at it. But they videoed us while we did our words. And so they based it like I'll watch this and I'll see her do something. Like the way she turns her head or starts a sentence. Oh my god. That looks like me. Yeah. They're so good. They're magicians. Well, I got four kids in that house. You're four? Four girl. All girls. Boy, you did your biology on the world. Yes. Four girls. Four girls. Four girls around the world. Two for me. Thank you. You're welcome. We got a six, a five, a three, and a one-year-old lady. Consistently. Consistently. The only movie that they agree upon on the drive to the shore because that's the only time the minivan TV works. I don't know if you know that it only works on long drives. Oh, was that right? Oh, it's so interesting. Yes, I know. And is Racket Ralph or Ralph breaks the internet? Either one. Yeah, either one. Outstanding movies. They are. They are. They are. So thrilled that I got to do it. I remember it was back in 2007. There was whispers of this. And they got us all in a Southwest flight to Pixar. So it was Sarah Silverman, me, Jack, and a couple of other people who ended up being in it. They hadn't cast Ralph yet, which was I'm John C. Run. And we did a read through at Pixar and they gave us like sweatshirts that said Pixar and we're all like, well, they flew us out Southwest. Give us a free shirt. This might not happen. And it gave us a free shirt. I'm so happy it did. Selfishly, you love when your kids pick movies that you can also enjoy. Absolutely. And they're their movies that I can truly both my husband and I are like, okay, we can get down with that. Good. It's good.
- The girls have said multiple times that Ralph is dad. I don't know if it's that he's living in the dump or what it is. - I can see that. - Yeah, he's big. I know exactly who he is. He's big. - He's big and he burly and he's exactly nice. - Yeah, he's a good guy. - They love him. And on top of that, when Sergeant Calhoun is deep just, I mean, putting the moves, the love moves, the love moves. Our second, Ellie, loves a love story. She loves that love story. She thinks it's amazing. - Yes, it's a beautiful love story. - Sergeant Calhoun and Felix, they love each other. - They do, they're so different, but they so respect each other. - They do. And he loves a strong woman. We love that about him. - And she likes a nice weak man that can take directions. - They can take direction and say, you fix that. - Yes. - So good. - It's Felix. - Where do you rank her? - Oh, let's see. - You have two and three and five and eight. - You have one and four available. - One and four available. Four. - Okay. - That's a risky business. It's risky business to leave number one to the last one. - And leave number one. - Let's see what we got for number one. Lastly, I'm guessing Queen Emma might have went with the classic, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Thank you, Queen Emma. - Of course, she did. That is the classic Susavessa tracksuit. - Yeah, it is. The red and the white. - Oh gosh. - I am glad that's number one. - Glad I held out. - That was the right move. It's not always the right move, but you nailed it. - Yeah. - How awesome was it going to work every day in a tracksuit? - It's like, you take off your pajamas and put them back on. - That's perfect. - This is part of the reason why I wanted to be a PE teacher. - Yeah, exactly. - Come on. It's so good. - It's the best. - What do you miss the most about Glee? - Oh man. - The tracksuits. - Yeah, the tracksuits, man. I miss, sometimes. I will almost have the same lines episode to episode. But the, in my office, now, that kind of a thing. And I love those moments where I got to walk into the choir room where a lot has been going on. They're singing, they're dancing, blah, blah, blah, and the door opens and everybody goes, "Mm-hmm." And I get to say, "You, in my office, now, now." And then I turn on my damn heel, Kylie. - So good. - And everybody's scared. Gosh. - Oh, they're scared. - I love that you just, you put your midwestern or side. And you-- - Oh, yeah, she goes away. - And you like it. - I dissociate. - Mm, I dissociate. - Now, we do have a bonus. We have a bonus, look. - Let's see it. - Because this is, this was also iconic. Party down. Is this knock anything? - I don't like the fact. - I'm not gonna do that. - We're deculus. - Does this knock anything out of the top five? Or can we leave it at six? - Let's leave it at six. Okay. - That is Ken Marino. - Mm-hmm. - No one makes me laugh. Talk about cracking up. I'm pretty good. I don't crack up. Nothing is that funny to break me up. Him. Him? - He's the culprit. - He's the culprit. - Okay. - So if you go to the New Wolf, I go through any episode where I have a scene with him in the first season, but in the new season, we did about three years ago. There is a scene where he gets food poisoning. And he's sweating and he's trying not to throw up and he's trying not to you know what from the other end. He's, and he's the most courageous actor in the world. He's almost pure white pale. He's full of sweat and he's got shaking. And you'll see me. I'm like this the whole time. I'm covering my mouth. Pretending to be shocked, but it's Jane Lynch trying not to lose her shit. I'm like, but my eyes, I'm dying. - Yeah. - This guy is, he's the funniest man I've ever met. I adore working with him. - I love that so much. I feel like it has to be as someone who doesn't break to find someone who makes you break like that has to be like the most lovely discovery. - Yeah. - And he's the nicest man. - I mean, you can kind of tell. - Yeah, yeah. - Such a goof. - That does it for today's blind ranking, brought to you by all state. Now, fast forwarding to right now. You are back on our TVs every Monday night at 9 p.m. on Fox hosting celebrity weakest link. And it's fantastic. Real ones, you can also stream the next day on Hulu. - Sure. - I feel like there's truly no better person for this role. It's a perfect fit. And it's fun to be, is it fun to be known as the hard ass I feel like it has to be. - Yeah, I love it. I love it. And you know, everybody knows the drill. So nobody's insulted. Even when we were doing it with civilians, you know, the celebrities and I what they're getting into. Nobody's like, they signed up for it. - Yeah, you signed up for this stuff. - You know what I do. - Yes. - Everybody's fine. - That's a lot of fun. - How satisfying is it every time you hit the, you are the weakest link, goodbye. - Oh, the best, it's the best. You know, but they're the Midwestern part of me. You know, when we're not shooting, like when we're in between setups, we're small talking. And I do feel like I'm hosting a party. You know, so I want everybody to get something to drink, you feel good, you want to go to the bathroom, you're everybody okay? And then I have to go and dismiss somebody. Sometimes I feel a little bad. I do it, but sometimes inside I'm like, and it's like, 'cause it's humiliating. Right, you know, they have, they have to walk away from their podium. And sometimes they're wearing like the girls wearing heels and they're hobbling and I'm like, "Oh god, don't fall." They have to step down and the floor is black and shiny and it's always moving. It's disorienting. So I worry, Kylie, I worry. I'm a cancer, I worry. I want everybody to stay safe. So they will have to walk down this thing and then they have to walk into the jaws of hell. It's like a bright red tongue and they have to do it. And then they sometimes have to do it three times. And I feel terrible. - I get it right. - Right after you just, you just yapped it up. You just had small talk and it was lovely. - Yeah, small talk. - I'm gonna go to the bathroom. I got him a breakfast bar and then you just kick him out. - And I kick him out. I kick him out so bad, so hard, so hard. - Now, yeah. - Knowing me for nearly what, 40 minutes now? - I know, I feel like I'm knowing you forever though. - How do you think I'd do? - I think it's like, I think it'd be great. - Are you just saying that? - Even if you didn't get all the questions. - Is this a small talk, Jane, tell me the truth. - This is the small talk. - Yes, that's fantastic. - No, you would be entertaining. - You would be self-deprecating. - For sure. - If you're not, if you're not something, you have to want someone, we get someone a little too serious for their own good. Especially the reality stars. - Yeah, now, shifting gears a little bit, we sometimes do a segment on this show called "Rage Bade of the Week." - Love it. - Where my producer, Queen Emma, puts something in front of me that she knows is gonna set me off. Now, we talked about the men's hair on their necks. - Yeah, the girl in the back. - Before we get started. What else sets you off? Is there anything you have the floor? - What else sets me off? - How do you feel about men wearing flip flops? Is that bothering you? - Do you hate it, hate it, hate it, hate you? - Yeah. - I don't want to see your feet. I don't want to see women's perfectly pedicured feet. - You don't like feet. - I don't like them. - Thank you so much for saying that. - Yeah. - Especially men's, though. - You would think, so I agree with you wholeheartedly. I do not like feet. I actually don't want to see them put those dogs in the get them caged, okay? - Yeah, caged those dogs. - But my husband, it actually does paves me at all. That man wears flip flops almost until winter time. And then immediately starts wearing them again, basically when the snow melts. - They come out again when the snow melts. - They do. I can't explain it. It's like I have a blind spot. - You're okay with this. - Does that have nice feet? - No. - He's got little black hairs growing out of him. - A thousand percent he does have toe hairs. And he also would, like he's never gotten a pedicure. Wouldn't even if you, I mean, you could offer him everything under the sun, not a pedicure guy. So they're really, they're left to their own devices and then they're just let loose in a flip flop. - Yeah. - Let loose. - So there's that. Yeah, it's my blind, it seems to be my blind spot, though. - Yeah. - 'Cause you love him. - I do. Now any other guys wearing flip flops? - You cut it out. - Put them away. - Yeah, stop it. - Put them away. - Put them away. - A nice smoker. - Put them away. - Yeah, yeah, I agree. - I wear Birkenstocks occasionally. - It's you left in the top. - Yeah, I let the dogs out occasionally. - Okay. - I was born with a turned foot. So I have a funky, big toe. That's a little shorter and a little-- - Only on one side? - I had a voice, it would be. So I'm just. one side. Just one of them. Yeah, I'm not, I'm not proud of it. But everyone's in a while. I'll let the dogs out usually. I mean, it usually I don't go to a restaurant with my dogs out, but around the house maybe. I rarely wear them. I don't find them that comfortable anyway. I've kind of a slip my feet into the slip versus soon. I can't go barefoot anymore. I need I need something. Something under your feet. Um, Gene, I cannot thank you enough for coming on today. This is a joy. Thank you. It is such a pleasure to meet you. Such a pleasure to get to tell you how much I love your work.
