Happy Friday and happy birthday to Noah. Thank you. Thank you. You're welcome. How are you feeling? Birthday boys. Thank you, everyone. I'm feeling one year, or I guess one day older. The energy is low. The energy is low from over there. Well, you know, there's no you. Happy birthday. And I was like, woohoo, it's my birthday. You'd be like, what the fuck? No, I want you to get up on the table, dig your shirt off, swing it around, and be like, it's my fucking birthday. Yeah, as I said, I'm not a big, like, birthday guy, you know? There's too much pressure. He's so chill. No, no, I know, like I appreciate all the fans who've reached out to Happy Birthday. I got an early birthday present last night from Guillermo. Oh, yes, yeah, Jimmy Kimmel played you in the video. Not only was I in the video, it was like, I was like the most emotional high point of the video. I love to because he was like the segue from people being upset to people just like loving Guillermo. And being upset that he was like, he was the turning point from the kids crying, the Guillermo was going home to like, but you know what, what a journey. We love Guillermo, you were, you were, you were used as that piece. It was a pivotal moment in the video. It was. And you would stop. And honestly, like, they turned those, they turned that around quickly because that was the same, we posted that video, the same day, they, they, it's, I'm shocked that you weren't on the editing team with how fast because you're an amazing editor, but you, they were in the process of that every week, just like having kind of some of it done just in case, and then they keep adding. It's like the, when they have the death, oh, bit, someone dies, and then it's already has to come off, we should just butter, know up with compliments, this entire episode in like an uncomfortable way, like ever so often we're just like, you're just the best. Yeah. You know, man. You're just the best gosh, everything he says is just a so funny, he's so, he's on, he's on the nose always. He's so Joe Jonas. Yeah. Did you see that comment? Yes. Yes. We didn't see that comment. Well, actually, you said it directly to me. Someone said. I didn't see it. I saw Noah is just as funny as Joe Jonas, but the world just doesn't know it. And what a great comment that's so accurate. Noah said it directly to me because he knew like I would be jealous of that comment. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Honestly, that could be an insult to me. Maybe I'm funnier than Joe. You ever thought about that? I haven't. I haven't thought about it till now. If you think of Joe Jonas, what's the first quality you think of and be honest? I actually do think funny. No. I mean, besides him being sex. Exactly. That's the first. No, no. I do. No, I do. But if we were going up, if we were going, if we're doing personality, I say, I think funny. I would say funny, for sure. Yeah. Jokester. Yeah, he's a, he's a real Jokester. No, I think you think like, handsome, charismatic, like, but funny. I don't know if that's like a top five quality. Oh, one thousand percent. One hundred percent. It's at least a top 10. And funny and sexy. No, that's probably his highest complimented trait, I would say from the, from the Josh Brothers audience. No, because you think sexy and your words, uh, your words, uh, and then you would think, you would think, uh, yeah, he's a good looking guy. And then I think you would put like his singing ability or like that musician ship above. You're thinking he's fun, you're thinking funny before, oh, I love his music, but that's like his job. Yeah. Oh, that's not his job. That's his art on this job. I don't know. It's just imagine being funny and sexy. Yeah. What do you mean imagine? What a burden. Exactly. It must be a burden. It must be so much of a burden. I live with a burden every day. I know. I don't know. Really? On my back. Let's be honest. We know that. We know that. We know that. It's just ripping everything we do. So. Oh, the brothers. Yeah. Oh, my God. Yeah. Oh, you know what? I actually did want to rip something from them because I was watching an episode and I've seen other people talk about this. Maybe they did it in Chicago too. I'm not sure. I think I saw a video of them doing it in Chicago. And then they also were talking about it on the Jones Brothers podcast. How many chug-a-chug-a-chug-a-chug-as go before Chuchu? You know, chug-a-chug-a-chuchu. I never say chuchu. Like how many. Not sure I've ever done it in my life. I don't know. Some people go chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug. Let me, or like, where do you naturally fall? Well, now I'm gonna do it the way you just did it. Well, you have to do what your preference. Everybody, clu- oh, there's a bug, did you get it? I think I got it. Hell it. Our hero! Yeah. Yeah. If I said, for weird guys coming up to you, for bugs in the room, I got you. Yeah. - Chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug Six or eight, you may have just intent. I think I'm in the eight. Chug a chug a chug a chug a chug a chug a chug a chug a chug a chug >> You know what the first thing I think I think- >> Well, why don't you try it? >> Well, no, because I don't do that. So now if you ask me to do it, I'm just going to do what you just did in my head. You've never said chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugg Is the soprano scene where what's this face get killed? - Mm-hmm, that's dark. - Yeah. - We were having so much fun with our target time. - I was just trying to- - Whoa, bro, I was just trying to ask you how many - What's in another one of those type of things that we could see compare how many do you do? - Well, I think everybody does rock paper scissors differently. - Do you say life? - I say rock paper scissors says shoot. - Yes, I say crazy. - No, I say says. - Yeah, I say, rock paper scissors says shoot. - Should we do rock paper scissors right now? - Just for fun? - Yeah. - I think I said, end shoot, rock paper scissors, end shoot. - Wait, do you do? - I don't do the fifth thing. - Or something like that. - We're just rock paper scissors shoot. - Okay. - Rock paper scissors says shoot. - Ooh, scissors scissors. - Rock paper scissors says shoot for those guys. - Oh, got your ass. - Ria went paper, no, rock. - One more? - Rock paper scissors, rock paper scissors. - Got your ass again! - You should have a pretty good. - Yeah. - I'm not with Sterling. - Yeah. - A lot of people can't see what you guys need. - Don't be like, like, imagine someone first time listening, like, what's the hype about this podcast? It's just playing rock paper scissors. - Cannot even, can't see what they're throwing. Nope. - Rock paper scissors, rock paper scissors, end shoot. I think I always say it. - And, that's insane. - And, and shoot. - Rock paper scissors. - Rock paper scissors, end shoot! - Yeah. featuring shoot. - Yeah, yeah. - We're just rock-paper-scissors shoot. I don't know. - Everybody has their own way, you know? - That's just the way it goes. - It's like everybody's got different rules of beer pong. - For every game. - For every game. - Well, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, board game. Um, Rummy Cube. I don't even know what Rummy Cube. I can't tell you what person to be like. I have a short board game. Scategories. Scategories. I love scat. I guess back him is considered a board game. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I guess chess is like, you know, board. It's a board. Yeah. Backgammon. What's your shoots and ladders? That's always fun. Oh, what about battleship? You remember battleship? Yeah. battleship. That was fun. Not a board game. But it's on a board. You know, fair battleship is definitely board game. Yeah. I just think of it. It's in like you each have your own. But it's like, what do you call chess? I mean, Rummy Cube is not a board game then. Yeah, right. Right? Is that what you call like chess and checkers of board game? Yes. Absolutely. That's five. I think that is the most. But to me, chess shouldn't be like on the same playing field as like monopoly or like shoots and let like, it's higher. - Which certainly takes more mental. - Yeah. - All right, I'm gonna probably run our course. - Yeah, we run our course on that. I could juggle choo-choo. - And I'm moving on, moving on. - You dyed your hair. Yes, my hair is brown. We've entered fall, fall is here. And my hair is brown. - Yes, it is. - And yeah, entered, you feel good about it? - Yeah, I feel great. I mean. - I feel like I'm seeing double. - Well, I got nervous. I was like, wait, are people gonna be confused when they watch the show? My hair is brown. But then I have to remind people that I've been doing this for the past three years that I dye my. - Your hair hasn't been this color in the fall for the last couple of years. - OG listeners remember when my hair was black with like white pieces. And that was not a good face for me. Like I was depressed and like, very sad. And so that wasn't a good face. So then I was like, okay, I'm never dying. My hair that dark again, obviously. Or with white stripes. But then in 2024, I remember right before your wedding, I went brown. We had this discussion. I said, I'm gonna go brown right before your wedding. And since then, since then I have fallen in love with the brown, not, not, you know. But when I dye my hair brown, people are always like, you said you would never do it this way again. I'm like, no, no, no, that was black and white stripes. I've been dyeing my hair brown for the past three years. Now this one, it was this dark when I did surviving bar soul. - Yeah. - And my bachelor at. - Yeah. - And like so like winter of 2025, it was this color. And I always look back on the Boston Rob interview where my hair was this color. And I loved it like the cut and color of it. - This is specifically that interview. - Yeah, this is very specific. But I have the picture on my phone. And I literally use it as a reference because I want to go right back to this time. - I was like, I really like that. - And it actually might, it's pretty much the same as that. This time around, I actually wasn't going to go as dark like I was going to progressively get there. But I did just jump to the, jump to the chase here. So it's a little bit darker than I was even going to go. But I'm happy with it because it looks like the, it looks like the Boston Rob interview in which I used as a reference point. So I'm very happy with that. - You got it to, you got it to exactly where you wanted it to be. - Yeah, because otherwise I would have to go back a couple of times, but we had to, because it was so blonde, I have a couple of stubborn blonde pieces that I don't do like, I don't know what the difference is. But I don't do like, I do a lot of glosses and glazes, not like a permanent dye color. Just in case I want to go lighter again. - Right, right, right. - So it's easier. So we had to do like a copper like gloss into like a darker gloss because the blonde. So now I got to transition it a little bit. - So now I got a couple of pieces that are really hanging on. - Yeah, they are. - And they're like trying to give red. And I have to do one more gloss so that's not giving. - It's just those pieces. - It's just the front pieces. - Where you get a little, well your hair was very blonde. - It was very blonde, so the blonde is just trying to, trying to hang on there, but. - Well, it looks, this to me is my favorite. - Thank you. - It just is. - I just love it. - I really love it. - I got it, your blonde is gorgeous, but this just matches, you know, I don't know, it's something about that. - I love that. - I think it makes you look Tanner. I think it like, you know, you got your Italian features. - Oh, thank you. - It's just, I really do, I do love it. And I love when people say that to me. So thank you very much. And I love all the compliments that people are giving to it because I do that because I love compliments. And I love being funny and sexy. And, no, it's just that I get insecure sometimes about going from blonde to protect because I just have been, you know, whatever. But every time I do go brown, I go, excuse me, I'm giving a very long talk about my hair. - I can't drop my phone, I think it's the wheel of it back. - Oh, just like he threw the headphones in me. Okay. - Moving on. But every time I do go brown, I go, you know what, this is me. - Yeah. - But then every time I go blonde, I go, this is me. So I just have two sides. - Just like matches, I just think like, you like to match seasons. - I do. But with the brown, I do feel like it matches my features. - Yeah. - And I did have some of our-- - And as long as it's not like fucking up your hair, it's fun to do. - No, it actually keeps my hair healthy. - Yeah. - 'Cause I did have some listeners ask like, I really want to do this. Will it damage my hair if I want to go back to blonde? For my hair specifically, I don't want to speak for everybody. - It actually helps keep my hair really healthy, because if I were to just keep highlighting it blonde, it would die. - Yeah, yeah. - And it would get. - And this is like doing six, eight months of-- - I don't actually have to touch this. - You have a real color, yeah. - For months, 'cause my natural hair color is dark brown. So this actually keeps it healthy. And we love that, 'cause I am now very attached to my hair as everybody knows. So we want to keep it healthy. And yeah, I'm loving it. I'm so excited. You know, it takes getting used to it first when you wake up in the morning. Ah! - Yeah, yeah. - Yeah. - Who is that? - I tied my hair to that too. - Did you? - Yeah, but just because I have gray hairs. - Oh, wow. - No, yeah. - Pretty little just ferment. - I've been doing that. Yeah, I've been on that. But now like, 'cause when I get a haircut, it kind of shows me again, like how much of a gray, 'cause I get it real short. And yeah, the sides are this. Part of me is like, keep it. A lot of people are like, oh no, that's cool. And I'm like, ah, salt and pepper. - Yeah. - I'm so, and now I'm curious what it looks like, 'cause I feel like- - I should just show you next time I get a haircut. - Yeah, show us a picture. - So like you're always in a hat, too, so I can't really get a good sense of- - Yeah, unless I'm on a red carpet, like I don't really take the hair. - Yeah, right. - So true. - Let's just try to show off his long hair. - Oh, that's a nightmare. Yeah, I'm gonna have to take it off. I'm like a nice restaurant. - Yeah, Golden Syria camp. - Yeah, good hair though. Like just me. - Yeah, I don't know. - Yeah, yeah, I gotta- - You were a hot guy just by having good hair. - Why is he looking at me, he's like, he's gonna need to be in a blast, 'cause I do, I love the lady who got some of my hair, shout out to Liz, but not our best work this week. - Well, you actually didn't have to name her, and then you made her- - But I feel like it would be, like I feel like it's a shout out, but I guess that's a bad shout out. - Yeah, I mean, you could- - She usually is great, like, and she would admit like, she went too short this time. She went too short, that's it. - Oh man. - On the top or just all over? - On the top, that top is all that matters. So on the sides we go short. - Yeah, yeah. - And then this time she even a new, she was like, fuck, like right before you're birthday too. I'm like, it's fine. - It's fine, Liz. - I always say- - This is already a trusty source. - Isn't that funny though, like, there's nothing you can say after you get a bad haircut. You're just like, and they're like, oh my god, I'm sorry, I'm like, it's fine. It'll grow back. - You're kinda like, well, this is it. - Well, now I want him to take his hat off. - No, no, how short is it? - It's really not that short, it's just, it's not enough. - Will you take it? Will you remove your hat for us? - No, I'm gonna have a patty. - Come on, it's your birthday. - Hey, can I take your hats? - I'm gonna have hat here. And it's gonna be like, push like flat. It'll look normal. - All right, we won't do that. - All right, we won't do that too on your birthday. - You know, like, I need the- - Right, right, right, right, right, right. - You got it. - I'll send you a pic tonight. - Hell yeah, thank you. - Yes, send us a picture in the mirror before you give yourself your speech before. - Yeah. - Hello. - Hello, future me. - And then remember it the next birthday. - That's too many to remember though, 'cause then I'll get the next stuff in my hand. - No, no, you gotta delete the other ones. So next year, you just remember this one. - Yeah, you know what I could also do? I could just take a picture of myself in the mirror. - And you'd really remember it. - Yeah, but you know, you have pictures throughout the year. It's like, whatever. - All right, anyway. I think he's like, pen-sip to that. - Yeah, these are my versions. - These aren't like, like- - I think they're my version. - Pen-sip to that. - Yeah, they just didn't start. - They're kind of depressed. - Very introspective. - We're being honest, you know? - Birthdays aren't fun. Like, they are fun, but like, when you really start to think about it, it's like hard to not go down a downward spiral. You know what I'm saying? - Just, just with the idea of A.K. - You know what, we're gonna talk about it when you talk about the topics, because it's in one of the songs that thanks for the stars, but that's stopped this train by John Mayer. - Yeah. - That's, that's, stop this train. - I don't know what Harry will do to that song, but that's one of those songs that, like, this train. - I can't really even listen to it that often, 'cause if you really listen to the song, it's like the most- - Oh, yeah, that one makes me cry immediately. And it's one of my favorite, if not, my favorite John Mayer song, but it makes me cry every time. - It's his dad's favorite John Mayer song. - Well, it's about, he starts singing, you know, watching your parents hate it's, you know, but Harry will be break dancing to it this way. - Yeah, but don't worry. He'll find a way to pop lock and drop it to stop this train. All right, let's get into today's topics. No, we wish you a very happy birthday. - Thanks, thanks. - We hope you have a lovely night, a lovely dinner with your family, and hopefully a great weekend. - That's not your apartment tomorrow. - I know, you will be, but not with me. He sang you out with my husband. - No, we have plans without you. - They're actually us. - What are you guys doing? - We're going into dinner. - Oh, but you'll, so you'll probably return when we're-- - I will return and I will see you there, but my dream is this, to be, hey guys, and then go up to my room. - Yeah. - I thought you were gonna be like, "All right, everybody have a fun." - You guys all have fun. - You guys have a fun? Can I get you a big bill? - Yeah. - All right, bye. - Are you want me to make you an old fashioned? - Yeah. - And then I make one, and maybe I play a game of pool and then I go to bed. - Oh, I thought you were gonna say you come home, but you give Marty a look, and then Marty's like, "All right, guys, I think we got a friend." - Oh, no, no. I have always dreamed about, and like, you know, coming home and your husband's having like a game not with his friends, and you're like, "Oh, honey, I'm going to bed." - Yeah. - Joy. - Oh, that's the misses. - Yeah, yeah, it's like, oh, she-- - Exactly, oh guys, the messes, the messes. - And then I just, you know, I go up to bed and I just snuggle up and I watch TV and I hear some laughs in the distance. I wonder what's everyone laughing at. But then I doze off and yeah, but I don't know. - You know what it is? It's that scene from the other guys where Ethan Mendes comes in. We're like, they're not all first round picks. Like we just start making up what we're talking about. (laughing) - Oh shit, yeah, well, friend and I are going, it'll be me and friend second in our of the week. - Yeah. - Because we just-- - You need to need to need to need to. - But you just, you just put me on blast. - You'll be so mad. - Oh no. - On your birthday, right? - Are you fucking kidding me? - I actually didn't want to tell you. (laughing) I actually knew this wasn't gonna go over well and I actually've been keeping it in on purpose. (laughing) - I mean, it was gonna come out tomorrow. I'm sure. I do owe it to you, soon. We'll pick a day. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Love you, yeah. - You're busy, you got plans. - You know who I saw coming out of there. - Tate McRae. - Tate McRae. - Yeah. - And it's not just us. We are going with another person. - Yeah. - Not does not work here. - Yeah. - Good. - Good, don't worry. - Don't worry. - I better not know them. - You do, but. - But I do. - Yeah, yeah. - I've been wrong. - Yeah. - We're having a girls dinner, all right? Leap us alone. - Who could it be? - Yeah. - You're gonna, you go ahead. - It's kidding. - All night. - I promise you. - Who could they be? - Right when we finish recording right now. - Yeah, yeah. - I promise you. - It sounds like a big signal. - Really, just like, I promise you, we will, I will, we'll go to dinner there very soon, within this month. We'll go. - Okay. - You're gonna see someone insane tomorrow. I just know it. - All right. - I'm moving on. - Moving on. - I just know it. - I just know it. - And then I'm gonna come home to my apartment. - You're saying no. - Oh my god. - Yeah. - John Beyer was at course. - I guess I just said it. - No. It's whatever. - It's totally fine. - All right. Let's get into today's topics. We have a Kelly Clarkson follow up, because the footage was released. - Security footage. - Girls is coming back for five episodes. So we got the footage from the Kelly Clarkson Art of Play store debacle. Now there's no audio so we can't hear what's being said but we see what's going on. Yeah. I'll be honest this doesn't this doesn't give me much like I this isn't groundbreaking footage to me I watched what I feel like was described it was you know the store said it was quick the store was busy but you didn't see elevator eyes you couldn't make that out. Well you couldn't see the guy's face no I know but some saying like you there nothing was done that could have been like oh he was addicted to her no but I also feel like there's nothing could be like oh Kelly oh my god Kelly is making it up once he turned her back to him though and while he was trying to show her the other bird and she just like seemingly with me but we also can't we have no idea what or how he spoke to her when they were talking about I'm just saying I'm just saying based off the footage alone yeah based off the footage alone you really I felt like I couldn't make any new judgment of of the footage alone because you can't hear you can't hear what was said and that to me would have been the biggest tell if you could hear the words and the tone of voice it would have been a big deal but she's in and out of the store pretty damn quick and looks to almost immediately I don't know if she's texting what happened or well immediately tweeting out what happened the timestamp show that she what she immediately tweeted yeah here's the thing I think this story has been so blown out of proportion on all ends but it's like like always something that's funny and and fairly harmless like this gets blown up because everyone takes it way too seriously and we go way past the memes in the jokes that made people laugh and then all of a sudden you know we got we got Kelly right because shop owners and Kelly Clarkson put us in danger well well the thing is they are in danger because people are insane and even if the store and I'm not like defending the way the store treated Kelly Clarkson we don't know what happened yeah yeah Kelly Clarkson has every right to be upset with the store with the way she was treated I have a problem with the way people are now attacking this store in a way that's like people take it too far yeah you know what I mean like it's not like a funny thing anymore where it's like oh this asshole store it's like no people are probably showing up acting like insane people towards the store would you just shouldn't be doing no I right like is that an insane take to be like we shouldn't people shouldn't be showing up for the store and like if you want to support Kelly and you really think they do something wrong don't shop at the store don't just don't shop at the store yeah don't show up to the store and I film them and being like what the fuck and like I think that the store is just kind of made it worse for them like the more the store has communicated the worst it's gotten like they're taking interviews now they were like they literally were like we don't have a PR for we don't know how to deal with this yes like and here's the thing like at a certain point is like this is this you have to know that the moment will die and people will forget about this happening and then you'll be fine but the more you do interviews I will never forget the more you do interviews and talk about it and then joke or be serious and now the birds worth 15 million dollars like that's not that's going to wild people right that great so the the store is now wrong in the way that they're charging 15 million dollars because they're like so they sat and now there's a price tag for 15 million dollars like now okay now you're doubling down on being an asshole right all right what if there was a world where like the store just never answered Kelly Clarkson's tweet then and this just like it would have been over already it would have been over three days I don't think it would have been over yes it would have because the less Kelly kept going being like I demand because they they're they're initially we would have just said like that was weird like we would have saw Kelly Clarkson's tweets and that was weird at Kelly but then the would have died would have completely forgotten that I feel like the initial reaction was like Kelly never acts like this they obviously did something really bad yes so so they were like we have to say something and they did and it wasn't anything like crazy and then Kelly I don't think they probably anticipated Kelly like doubling down yeah yeah yeah well they didn't have their story straight the first time that's on them yeah yeah I just am not going to sit here and just like how much would you pay for that bird I don't want the bird I don't want to think it's just incredibly but it's just another time when something is like ha ha funny harmless and then like because it's so ridiculous and then it becomes so serious well am I like it's it's it's and then it does get serious am I like protect Kelly Clarkson yeah Kelly Clarkson seems like an angel but on the other side of that like I'm not going to sit here and be like this store deserves every bad thing to happen to them like no it's it's not that serious no it's really not that serious and that's the way people are acting and that's what I mean by like no we don't need to be showing up to the store right now no if anything a normal response is just like you're like oh that's unfortunate that Kelly that that happened and then you forget about it and you move on and you laugh at the memes about the bird right yeah I don't that's gonna be a big Halloween costume it is everybody telling us that we should be the bird Kelly and the rude guy but it's going to be so overplayed also like if you're not together at all times oh it would be for us no I'm I'm saying like Are you saying like the three of us? - The three of us would be the best. - I'm not saying like-- And if I was just walking, if I'm the rude guy and I'm not with you, what do I even look like? You know, you're probably dressed exactly like that. Yeah, I was actually working that story. I think that's like what he was wearing. Yeah, it's pretty close. And no, I wear a shirt that's just Kelly Clarkson has put us in that might be that will now be quoted forever really is Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Clarkson. This is room in the world tour. Yeah, it yes. That is that's seen people are me. You've seen the 40 year old version where he's like getting his hair removed. Yeah. Clarkson. Oh my God. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So it's just crazy. And that reminds me. So when Marcello was on Amy Polar, he talked about how he a teacher taught him how to write a script and told him, take a movie that you already know and just change one thing. So he chose the 40 year old version and he just changed the main character to a woman. And he was like, actually, Amy, this will be a great movie for you. And I thought if they ever wanted to make like a sequel or a spin off, they could just do the 40 year old version again, but just make the main character a woman. Yeah. And it would be fun. It definitely was. But it's like, we don't need more seats. No, we don't. No, no, no, no. Oh my God. Now that I'm saying like I had to pick one. If we had to pick one, I could see that. Speaking of Amy Polar, because we were talking about it. I haven't finished it, but I did see someone clip out the one part where she brought up Linda McCartney. Oh my God. He starts crying. Oh my God. Oh my God. Like why do you are making edits to that now? No, it's so beautiful. Like the way he talks about Linda is so beautiful. And it made me want to watch that documentary. I didn't even know that. That was the one that I want to watch. Yeah. I got to watch it. Um, it really made me want to watch it. What a gem. And he was so funny. I thought he was so funny with her. The song is coming out now. Yeah, yeah. It's like hit me. Yeah. That's what inspired me to start listening to Sergeant Pepper's album again. Yeah. Because he was funny to hear him talk about how they did that five years in, right? So they were, they were all ready together for five years. And then they did Sergeant Pepper's, which is my favorite Beatles album? Yeah. Well, when I think I brought this up when we had the one, or when you said that, for like been 10 years. And I'm like, when you really think about it, I think what the Beatles were together. What does she say? Like eight years and they made that is. That is it. In present time, 1313. If a band came out in 2019, basically. And I'd put out and is ending like at the end of this year. And was like the greatest band ever and put out like that. But it's impossible. It is crazy. And he talked about how like just at that time, they didn't even think they'd make it to ears because bands at that time just didn't last that long. Yeah. So the fact that even made it that long was like that was an accomplishment. And it's so funny when you hear musicians like that talk about how some of their biggest records come years in. Yeah. Did you know that Paul McCartney. You tell me this last. Yes. No, did you know this? That Paul McCartney's current wife was married to Bruce Blakeland, who's the Republican candidate for governor of New York. And that and that is Paul McCartney's current wife. I said, imagine you're just like, you go from that guy to Paul McCartney. How did they meet? I did just celebrate their 15 year and they said Paul McCartney celebrates 15th wedding. Nanniversary. Yeah, Nancy. Nancy. Yeah. I thought I would have went. What an upgrade seriously. That's like quite the job. You know what I was thinking when I saw that him crying about Linda was like, do you think he talks to Nancy a lot about Linda? I'm sure. Yes. We actually talked about this last night. Dinner. I lost it too. There's really small bug in here. It's a really small bug in here. Yeah, definitely. I think it's like when when you lose someone in that way, you know, uh, Linda passed on cancer. So I feel like it's been so long and it has been. But you just always and it's you know, mother of children. You just you just remember them and and and can honor them always throughout whatever relationship you then enter afterwards. For sure. And I think a stand up person will give you this space to do so. Totally. You know, they mean like they're you're supposed to be their safe space to be able to talk about that with that. They seem like a really fun family too. Like Stella was very funny when Stella was talking to Amy before the injury. Yeah, those are those brits man. They get you. There's they're just so funny. Yeah, that's that dry sense of humor really it gets me every time. Andrew Garfield really had a, uh, his sense of humor. You could just tell help because he's a merit. He's both. Yeah, but you could just tell how British he is in that conversation with Amy, did you watch that one? No, I've seen clips. I mean, you could just tell the where the British humor comes in, where like Amy is very much trying to get deep and he's just not going there. Yeah, it was interesting. I know you watched. She was trying to ask Andrew about his like childhood and whatever. And he just he didn't he wouldn't go there. Yeah, you can tell he was in every which way trying to make a joke to not get there, which is fine. People are not always so comfortable talking about their personal life, but I found it to be interesting. Yeah, you can definitely tell this people who are able to use jokes as you know, they did or they and Amy's always picks up on it too when people just like start complimenting her. Like whenever they're like, all right, like like her and Marcel, right? He's like, she's like shut up Marcel. Yeah, I will Marcelo. It was like watching Amy trying to wrangle her. Yeah, she was like, just shut up and let me ask you questions and talk, but it was nice that he was Marcel was giving her her flowers. Yeah, for you deserve all the credit and whatever in the world. Yeah, yeah, it's good good, good run of interviews recently. That Paul one was really great. I don't know if I've ever really listened to like a long form Paul McCartney interview like that. And it's just so it's just so fascinating. It is. And he's much older than I thought. Yeah, and he looks great. He does. I really heard a lot of hair enjoy learning new things like that on it. Like when it's not often that I'll listen to a podcast most often it's probably Amy Polers. Yeah. But when you actually learn something from an interview like with somebody like Paul McCartney, I just feel like because I started been concert a few years ago. And when I was at the concert in my head, I was like how like that's Paul McCartney like on stage. Like he was in the beat. Like I was kind of like this feels surreal that I'm at at Paul McCartney concert like in the year or whatever it was. I'm like, imagine being like imagine him sitting at this table. It's like he is like the most famous guy ever. Yeah, so funny that when she was like if we were with the aliens, we'd push you to the front and tell them to you explain what music it is. I saw him some interview recently where I think it was him and like two other like well-known I think actors and they were like got denied at a club or a party or something like they wouldn't let him and they're like you're not on the guest list in Paul McCartney's like I mean how famous do we have to be? That's so funny. And I love when people of that stature have a good sense of humor. Yeah, totally. It just makes them more like human. You know, you know what Kelly Clarkson should do. She should go on good hang. She needs to go on good hang. She should go on good hang like literally next week. Yeah, we're yeah. I would like listen to her on good hang. Yeah, yeah. Because I won't listen to myself interview her, but I will listen to you. Yeah, yeah. One hundred percent. Uh moving on. Girls is coming back for five episodes. Yeah. Now girls is something I've never watched. Really? Now here's. I knew that. The problem. I can't keep watching new shows. I never watched. I got to start watching some new shit. If I just get on this show every week. Yeah, if I just get on the show every week and start talking about every old show. Yeah, we're going to have a problem. Yeah, yeah. So while I do want to watch girls now from the beginning. Mm-hmm. Can I? Like I think I'm too much on my team. You have time. This won't come out for a while, you know. That's a lot of season six season. It just seemed like everyone was so excited about it that I don't want to be left behind. But there's not that many episodes for each season. Yeah. Sixty-two total. Oh, yeah. Like really easy. Are they our episodes? Yeah. Yeah, but that it's really not that. Yeah, but this isn't how I match our mother. Sixty-two hours. Give me give me from Thursday to Monday. Yeah, yeah. I'll be done. Yeah, this is not. I want to say that they're hour-long episodes. Probably I would say 44 minutes. Yeah, but they're, you know, they were HBO. So they didn't really have like a commercial time restraint. Oh, 28 hours and 56 minutes. Okay, sir. That says all the episodes would be 28, it would take 29 hours. So then they couldn't be hour episodes. Oh, then maybe they're maybe they're half hour shorter than I thought. They might have been 30 minute episodes. Well, sex in the city was half hour. Yeah, are no. Sex in the city wasn't at. Oh, yeah, 26 and 41 minutes. What I totally thought they were longer than that. How long was sex in the city? I'll fly through this. I know. Easy. 25 to 30. Yeah, that makes sense. Sex in the city. I know is that so was entourage. Yeah. Entourage was also like 24 to 20. Kind of. Yeah. Girls, I only watch girls start to finish one time. So like I don't have a lot of girls knowledge Despite watching it one time. I want to say like Maybe in what when did it one was it on air girls? Yeah, one was girls on air because I want to say I watched it When I first episode was 2012 Okay, so I watched it in college like When it was on mm-hmm. That was the first episode Yeah, so that's like right as I was that's a good time to watch. Yeah, like it was on when I was in college And I would watch it, but I was it was definitely one that I was watching, but like had a lot of other things And wasn't as locked in Before and I maybe never watched the last season There was a time where I feel like maybe I never finished finished it. I don't know So I would also 100% do a rewatch before Watching whatever the new product is that they that they put out which I I don't think they're gonna film Until next summer because Lena Dunham was like you guys available for the for the summer So it's got to be next summer. So that they're filming next summer. This isn't Coming out to 2028. I feel like at least. Yeah, so I guess I can leave room for it. Yeah, can I be honest about something sure? I'm not necessarily feeling a drawback to Gilmore girls Because I went back to how I'm like your mother this week because I had to finish that. I'm almost done I have one season left. We're up to season eight. No, I have to finish it. I need to find out who his fucking the mom is I who the mom is and let me say yes, don't tell me Don't tell me lily is the mom surrogacy Is she what you think I'm gonna react right now is lily the mom surrogacy? I'm not gonna give you an answer So that's yes. No, I'm not gonna give you an answer. No, friend. Is it yes? No, I'm not gonna give you an answer So it's yes, no, no, is that a yes? Tell me no, no, no, she's not no. Okay, because I had like a weird thought where I thought maybe that Not like I thought it was because because people were like The ending doesn't make sense. So when that's something to me that wouldn't make sense. No, that certainly would it make sense That would and I just thought of anything like that. That would it make sense. Okay. Well then I don't have any other theory No, no, no, that's not the one. Have you watched any more episodes or no? No. Yeah, so I don't know I'm not feeling a major job back. I I ask you to maybe get you on to season two to season two and If you get to season two and it's really like Feels like homework then I understand for that I could do you that For that I can do you I can do you Oops, sorry for it in slip Yeah, I just See if you can get season two and do you and yeah, then you can do me me Moving on, but can I speak on because you were just bringing out shows. I just do need to acknowledge All the new Finland people in my DMs. Yeah, and reaching out. Yes. I did not know Well, that's definitely watch support and I said that the accents where Irish or Scottish which aren't too far off, but New Finland. There you go. They have a really unique accent. Yeah, thank you for clearing that up I will be watching. I definitely want to watch that. Let's go watch more. Yeah. Sorry. I watch more Now I'm gonna do that too. I started uh, um, carry really good. So did I really good. Damn. All right, you don't start We're gonna be in tune. I think you would like it. Yeah, it's good. It's good. Yeah, we will Wait, isn't that who's doing me It's well, Stephen King's the original story to carry Okay, the Mike Flanagan adapted it for now that we're in spooky season. I was thinking about You neither of you watched American horror story, right? No, that bums me out because I'm watching it. I'm like, I don't think I was so obsessed With the first two seasons of American horror story, which was murder house or maybe the third Can you check it up check this asylum asylum asylum? And I think asylum was too Coven might have been to though double check asylum might have been three I just remember seeing like I want to say no asylum is two so part of asylum on like someone's tv On an airplane and I was like absolutely not. I was sickly obsessed with murder house and then I saw I think it might have made me an asylum um Holy shit it took up like so much of my life when these came out do you see this reddit headline that's I hated asylum and can't understand the hype for the life of me That's you found your burner uh I was so obsessed. I never tried it. I never really even tried it. I I watched circus as well Coven might have been three circus might have been four. I don't know. It's hard to keep up. Then I ended up falling off Throughout the way because it's hard to keep up with we got to be on hotel and well 13 now. Oh, I believe we're out 13 Sorry Google boy. 13 is the one that well because they brought everybody back. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And so I was interested in maybe Watching this now because it is season it is that oh there's a couple episodes out. Okay, so Coven was three freak show is the circus I watched up until hotel. Yeah, then I then I fell off First two were my favorite by far where now in season 13 right and that's just titled 13 if anybody is watching and they like it Let me know because I'm thinking about watching it But I it's not something I don't think that my husband will watch yeah, it's not really like I'm not it's not about being Like I don't want to watch a scary thing. It's just I don't know. It looks like weird too weird for me It really depends on the season. I feel like they're different themes. Yeah, I mean, they're definitely Weird but like yeah, yeah, weird So let me know if anyone's watching and and likes it because I well What is Jessica Lang been saying about it recently? I saw she was saying something about it. She might not like it I thought she was in this life. She is she is Go to news. I saw something Um, FX was too cheap to pay for cars from the set. Oh, okay. She was saying something about this season. I still need to do with the season She just says that the budget is that she couldn't have a car service home fucking cheap FX Wow, click that. I want to see what she said about that area. It's just that they won't drive her home We had to drive ourselves. I mean, she's 77. They couldn't get her a car. I would think so they could have gone Big show that's fucked up. Yeah Can you zoom? Sorry. I can't yeah, she is clearly she was being serious, but I was like joking They were too fucking cheap. We would drive ourselves home at four or five in the morning park on some street in the French quarter and find our way home Ultimately, they had a good time because New Orleans is a good place to shoot right? Okay, so they okay They shot at you about when they shot like the first season she ever did Like is this talking about years ago? Let's go back up I want to say that maybe it says season three Yeah, this was like what was just getting off the ground still I feel like season three was coven. Yeah Maybe they didn't have the money behind the show then. I was gonna say 100 Definitely, my god. I hope they're driving her home I just kept seeing these headlines and never clicked them. Yeah, I was like what is she saying about the season right She's like just going as sassy Actually just called 13 yes. Yes. Olivia did tease working out on the remix She did tease that she was Doing remixes like she posted on her story. It was like a the track And she was like, oh, Olivia does remixes now, which is also in the teaser By the time this comes out, I think it's out like I think this comes out maybe later today, right? I want to say from recording day she posted it comes out Olivia Rodrigo this afternoon song and video about Thursday. So oh tonight at eight o'clock. So yeah, so it's out Which I love because I love this song and Putting Chapel. I gotta send this to Joe. He's gonna be so excited to be high expectations His favorite song on this album um And it's good to see Chapel Road in the mix because I feel like I've seen a lot of tweets recently Of people being like where is Chapel Road? Mm-hmm. That's a fair question. Oh that little buggy. I see you Taylor Swift has her locks in her basement. Well, Chappell Roan put out that is the 13th season. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Chappell Roan put out a song that was just like a stand alone, you know, um, last year, was that the last time she put something out? Yeah. I'm just like, I'm just thinking of her putting out the subway, which she put out in August of 2025, and then like that was it. I thought maybe the subway was going to be an intro to like a whole new album coming out because the last album was the rise of all of them in West Princess. And she put out the giver as a single in March of 2025. She put out good luck babe as a single in 2024 and she put out the subway as a single August 2025 and there hasn't, there hasn't been anything but that, but I feel like she has her process and I'm sure it doesn't conform to the idea that she needs to put out an album at the schedule that would be forcing her to do it. It's just got to come to her. I feel like she's one that says she would need to go through her process for sure. But I do like seeing her do this with Olivia. Yeah. That's true. It's going to be great. I love when the pop girl is get together. They show they support each other. Love that. It really is just the best album. Like I know I haven't shut up about it. It's just so good. It is great. Yeah. So I wonder if she'll do more of these. Like I wonder if there's more coming from like collabs or people to do songs. That would be cool. It would be fun. Last topic. We have the Dancing with the Stars dedication night. We've got the songs. We got the dedications. No, if you can pull them up. Now this is, we just know we just know what's going to happen here at this is this is going to be cry, cry, cry, cry, an emotional. Oh, my nose. What if I had eight after I know it, I am, I have a pounding headache. It's just always happy. I cry. Okay. So we'll take it through. Yeah. We'll read them. Let's go down a little bit. Ezra and Julia are doing a contemporary to can take my eyes off you, which is going to be dedicated to Heath Ledger, which now automatically, you think they're going to start the show with this because that's going to be a problem. One of my favorite scenes ever in any movie ever is when Heath Ledger gets up on those stands and sings, yeah, can't take my eyes off you. And now let me tell you this, this is sad. When my grandma passed away in 2015, the her final week, she had cancer and her final week, she couldn't talk anymore. And in the hospital room, my dad played can't take my eyes off you and my grandma started singing it and she couldn't talk that whole week, but she sent it was like, and it's just one of those moments that we always talk about and remember. And so whenever I hear this song, I cry. And so, yeah, thanks. That's like a quadruple, Miami. Hi, Grammy. Yeah. What up, Betty? Yeah. Wow. Yeah. No, this is going to be gorgeous. The dance is going to be gorgeous. I just feel like it's going to be a fucking love. Thank you. I'm so sorry. No, I know. Okay. Um, well, first of all, I actually just think, by the way, Julia, dedicating that to Heath is really beautiful. Heath led your man. I could talk about him for hours, can't you? Yeah. I find his whole entire existence. I find you know, I always see pop up of him where he's at like a press conference in someone. It was for broke back. And someone was like saying, like, what do you say to those people who are like disgusted by this movie? Because it's like romance between two guys and his response was like, on a real. I remember that. It's just a beautiful human and inside it out, it seemed. And I just, it's tragic, tragic death. And I find his whole life to be incredibly fascinating. And this is really beautiful. It really is. Moving on, Harry Shum is doing a tribute to his wife, stop this train now, to stop this train. The jokes right themselves. Yeah, yeah. He's get Howard. How is Harry going to pull out? He's freestyle moves to stop this. But you know, Jenna's, you know, Jenna's going to have him on lockdown this week, like they're going to do the most traditional, beautiful fox shot where he just does fox shot, like he may be and hold this hold dance, you know, just really to class to go complete opposite after what happened this week. Another one that just is going to kill yet. Now Jackson Olson will be doing, you know, love by Nacken Kohl, he's dedicating that to his teammates on the bananas. He's dedicating it to his mom. It'll be beautiful. People have made us. I did laugh thinking that like, L is for the way he's like, this was for my guys. Yeah. That would be, honestly, would have been amazing. It would have been amazing. And imagine he could have brought into it. And like, you know, how like Brooks Nader brought her sisters out. Like Jackson could have brought out some of his teammates to be in the dance, they would add a whole moment. But no, he was dedicating this to his mom, which is very sweet. And that they're doing a quick step. And then Tyler and Sharna are doing a contemporary, um, to Supermarket Flowers Bad Sheeran. The bachelor alum will dedicate his dance to mothers everywhere. And you know, I knew they were going to give him a contemporary. I'm so glad they did this. Our Sharna cooks up for this is going to be, I have a full body. Unbelievable. Now, not to brag, but we, we kind of got a little bit of a hint because, you know, we get, we get to talk to Tyler, who's our friend. And I'm telling you guys, this thing's going to be a showstopper. It's going to be beautiful. And this song is just going to, it's just a tear darker. Yeah. Jenna and Val are doing a beanies wall suit on chain melody. Another classic dedicating to her mom, Nancy. Yeah. Mom, it's big for the moms and as it should be, because I love that people get to have these moments with their moms. What are their dancing of V&E's walls? Yeah. That's going to be chain melody. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, Connor and Riley are doing piano man for his dad. Yeah. That's so fun. I love that. I love that. V&E's walls, um, and other dance that's really in hold. So I feel like that will be a good dance room, very different from having to do a, uh, Samba. So, um, piano, piano man, such a good one. That is a good one. Yeah. Ezra and Danielle are doing bloodline, um, also for his mom. Yeah. Another one. And you know, you always kind of get to see, and it is very telling who gets contemporary on, on, uh, on dedication night, because I feel like you want to be the one that get contemporary on dedication night, because those are the ones where you can really, you, you speak so many words come through from the dance. Yeah. You don't have to, yeah, you don't have to be in the constraints of a, of a typical dance. You really, it's, it's very interpretive. Mm-hmm. So, um, that is another one that's going to be stunning. Amber and Pasha are doing a contemporary as well. She's, it's like, you, you, you, you, you see who's got the contemporaries to, uh, her sister Brooke, they're dancing to breathe me by, see a, uh, why can't I not think of how that song goes? I agree with you. I actually can either. I feel like it's one of those when we hear it will go, I just started singing, chandelier in my head, but just singing, breath me in the way, but it's the kind of chandelier. Right. I'm like, why do I not know how that, well, I'll have to listen to it after more in marker doing. I'm shipping up to Boston, dropkick Murphy's, um, dedicating to Ireland. Now, I saw people's thoughts on this because they were like, shipping up to Boston is a, is an American Irish song, right? Not an Irish. Not a classic. Not a classic song. Yeah. Uh, but it will be fun. Yeah. Yeah. The dropkick Murphy's are Irish? Or are they not? I'm not. Well, they must be Irish. No, I mean, like, but like from Ireland, but I don't know if they are, maybe I think they are. No, they're an American. Yes. Okay. Yeah. They were like, this is an American. Yeah. Right. Right. They just have the Irish heritage. Yeah. Yeah. It's like of me and you started, started a band. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And we were an Italian band. Yeah. And then everyone found out we were not from it. Yeah. A pasta dough blade to, I'm shipping up to Boston is intense. They will be good. Yeah. You're really going to be like, uh, and, uh, Tatiana and Jan, yeah, dedication, it's Uncle Phil. Now they just knew what they were doing here. Oh, my god. They're going to dance. If you need these waltz, you don't know how glad I am. Nancy Wilson to Uncle Phil. And that'll give you that. You've got Alfonso there. Yeah. And I guess if this isn't the end of any of these Alfonso going to join the dance. Like, I can imagine Alfonso dance. I didn't even think about that. He's going to join the dance. Right. Oh, my god. I just got full body chills. Do you think this is an order of performance? Normally they do announce it in order. Yeah. Sort of makes sense to me. And it was so we'd start with he ledger and with Uncle Phil. Like, whoa. Come on. God. Everyone buckle up. Seriously. I was going to invite you over to watch. No. I don't want to cry. No, you got to cry in private. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's too much. Mm hmm. Hey, blah, blah, blah. That's not the story. I'm looking at now. No, yes. We're just both like. Yeah, that was like get me out of here. Yeah, this is obviously gonna be gorgeous. - And you're saying no one gets sent home dedication. - I don't think anyone's gonna get sent home. I mean, how could they? - They normally don't send one home. - But if they want to be ruthless, if they want to be ruthless, they'll send-- - By the way, they normally goes, they all make a lineup and then Alfonso and Julien go, no one's going home and they all hug and kiss and the next week two people go home. Yeah, that would be a problem. - I have been getting served up more yawn videos in the past couple days. - He's hysterical. - He's hilarious. - He's hysterical. - Did you see right after they repeated Julien's question, and he goes, "Yeah, what the hell is that?" - He was like, "Why, why, don't ask me any questions." - He basically also was like, "Blesser heart." Like, what did he say? He goes, "God, bless her." - And then there was one video where he goes, "I know I'm gonna get canceled soon." He was like, "The only reason I haven't is because "I'm not American." - I'm obsessed with him. He is so funny. He is hysterical. - I want him to come on this show really bad. - Yeah, really bad. - He is really funny. - So, ugh, but, you know, this will be a gorgeous evening and seeing them all with the songs and the certain dances everybody's getting just, yeah. - Yeah, it's gonna be gorgeous. - It's gonna do something. - Yep, yeah. - All right, pyrops at the topics. - Super exciting news. We have Sandra Wilson in studio. - We are so excited to have you here. - So excited. - I feel like we're scrubbing in. - Yes. - Just feel like I'm in that setting. We've a new season of Grey's Anatomy coming out. You are all over the place doing press and talking to everybody. How's press for you? Because it's got to feel like walk in the dog like all the time you're doing it. (laughing) - Well, the cool thing about where we shoot in L.A.F. studio is very small. It's just us in general hospital on the lot we're kind of in the middle of a neighborhood. So we, like as a show, aren't kind of enmeshed in selling ourselves or fans or anything. So the few times a year, right? When we go out to do things, then that's when we're like, oh, okay, yes. People watch, people know who we are. So this is all fun. - They sure do. - Oh yeah. - I mean, and they've been watching for a long time. - A long time, yeah. - We are on season. - 23. - 23, that's where we are. - Isn't that incredible? - It's very, very incredible. And we're completely aware of like that number and what that means and how many episodes it took to get there and how many years, right? It took. So we're incredibly appreciative of that. So glad that we're still around and telling stories. - What's it like for you now showing up on set every day? Do you have a routine? Has it changed throughout the years? - Not really, right? 'Cause we, you know, it's hair and makeup first, right? We didn't do that. And then we're going to rehearsal and then we shoot. So that part of the pattern hasn't changed. Our show is one of the few shows that still has table reads, which I thought it was strange to hear that we still do that. But we all still get together as mostly so that the writers can hear it and then, you know, make the termination from that. And that's always the best. I thought we'd find out what it happened. - Show us how it turned out as much. - Not really. And that's surprising. - No, it's crazy. Your script just gets sent to you and you read it on your own with something like about all of us being at the table together. All of us reading together. - And you enjoy it. - Yes, absolutely. Given the writers' information, that way they can see like what's going to work, what's not going to work. It's not a performance or anything, but you kind of want to. - Right, right. - In order to make the point that, yeah, this is cool. When you're doing your table read, do you feel like you are doing it? You know, you said it's not a performance, but do you feel like you're doing it in character or are you just really reading through? - It helps, right? It helps to inform them to inform you as an actor, just trying to figure out if this is going to make sense or not. So, yeah, all that helps. But at the same time, you don't want to overperform because then maybe you miss something. Maybe you miss what the point is or you hear it differently sometimes, you know, so that's what we get to work out. - Do you know how many episodes you have done? - Yeah, oh. - It's like the exact number. We had figured this out, we had figured it out because we did the 450th, and that was the second episode, last season, and then last season we did 18. So that left 16, so that would put us at, carry you one, 50, 65. And so far, we're on number six, so 71. We're at 471 right now. - You did that man. - I know, you know, I opened up on your IMDb. - What? - It has your episodes. - There you go, and that's a number? - Yeah. - Oh, that's good to know, it's accurate. - That's the correct name. - Normally, sometimes I feel like those things can't be trusted. You're like, that can, that may be the off-a-little. - Yeah, that's pretty accurate. I was like, hey, you just, hey, I'd be right there. - Yeah. - I just went on and did, I don't know what-- - That was the one that's just doing the math. - That's a dog on show. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Well, I'm glad I was right. - Yeah. - So the whole fashion way still works. - Right, totally. - I'm looking at you like, I know the answer. (laughing) - So you guys are very close, and as people talking about-- - Yeah, we talked about-- - 500 is a really good number, and I had like kind of worked out how we were gonna do it. I said, so we were doing 13 this season. If we implode that and actually do a 13 and a 14 and a two-hour season finale, we've done two of this finale. That'll put us at 80 at the end, right? So now we only need 20 and we could do like a full 20 episode season, next season instead of 13, and that would be 500 at the end, or do 19 and start season 25 at episode 25-01. Come on now. - Come on. - Season 25 with a 500 now. - A number, yeah, to me. - Yeah. That would be really perfect. - There's a lot of great ways for that to happen. And there's a lot of good ways to make it work. - Quick, and it with it or start with a-- - C, C. - Which would be-- - It's such an amazing milestone, how long you guys have been on the show. Did you have any, when you first started as Miranda Bailey, how long did you think you'd be on the show? - I know my contract. I think it's a series right there, but I thought I was a guest. - Yeah, right, right, you're like, we'll save it. - And then been a New York actor. I knew that these jobs don't last, so don't put all your eggs in that basket. Hey, you get the pilot out, maybe three seasons. Our contract said six, but that was just an impossible thing to think would ever happen. So, yeah, where we are now, that wasn't even on the radar. - That is really incredible. Can you tell us a little bit about your life before raising out of me? Like, what was childhood like for you? So I grew up in Houston, Texas, and I was a kid that was kept busy, basically, because my mom, she'll, you know, say she had me at 17. And so her goal was for her daughter not to have childhood 17. So, it's like you stay busy. And so she was literally happy in like, acting classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, dance classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I did like modeling, charm school, when I was four. - Yeah. - Fortunately, yeah, yeah, I enjoyed all of this stuff. - Patents, absolutely, I did. I don't know if Montgomery Ward's was like a big store in Texas then and I did a pageant in I want to say it was 76 right and it was the we windy model of the year and we were modeling clothes from Montgomery Ward's and that was I think the first pageant that I won and I still have that little trophy. I hope that's the trophy. Yeah it's a trophy for something. I mean the date at some point we had to replace it but I think that's the trophy. But yeah like I said fortunately for her I enjoyed it because even at some point when you know I started going through puberty and things started changing and my friends started getting taller and I wasn't and so you know I wasn't you know kind of moving into like Anjaneu kind of things whatever I was thinking maybe I should just go to regular high school be a cheerleader and I was like no you're not going to do that you're going to go to the performing arts high school but she made me do it I auditioned for it and got in and like within two weeks I knew that that was the right place for me to be yeah and then so going to college I said well growing up a musical theater in Houston I wanted to naturally go to New York and do Broadway see if I would have the opportunity to get there but how do you safely get to New York coming from Houston says okay well I got to go to school then in New York and that is what made me audition for NYU and I did get in I had no money to go I don't know I don't know how I figured out what to do but between student loans and Pell grants or whatever and work study program I was just gonna figure out how to get through it and there was no housing at the time was all the dorms were all filled and then at the last minute like within the last month NYU bought another building and was able to offer housing so freshmen like me who were late to get housing were able to get into this new building which was was very very cool and so that's what I did I went to NYU for the four years graduated figure was able to figure out how to take trains and you know figure out how to live in New York and so by the time I graduated I was doing a play off Broadway called The Good Times of Killing Me which meant I was in the union and I had medical insurance I was an actor where you auditioning while you were at NYU for like TV movie that sort of thing not freshman year so sophomore year is when I started I met my manager that I still have now that's awesome yeah I feel like you hear that all the time yeah especially in New York people you know you stick with each person and then there it is yeah I don't like all the moving around cuz I wasn't necessarily trying to get anywhere I just wanted somebody to kind of believe in me and if I could do a couple of auditions great that was my mentality but yeah so I did that and then started going out on addition on auditions my sophomore year and I think the first I think I did a commercial I did like a law in order and then I did like a Cosby show and I remember I screamed so loud into the phone when the cast director called and said and she said she said don't ever do that again so I learned she's like being cool early so that's why when they call you to renew each season of gray as you're just like got it yeah sounds good thank you thank you and now it's just an e-mail got a call yeah yeah so funny I mean and did you think maybe like what was the path you felt the most passionate about was it sort of TV and film did you think it was gonna be theater did you want to be in theater yeah yeah I always say I was gonna be theater it was all about you know just getting a Broadway it was something about a stage door walking through it and going up the steps you know to your dressing room and the history of all the folks that have been in that dressing room and performing before those audiences that was and is my thing right doing that so I've had the opportunity to be in four Broadway shows so far and there's to me there's absolutely nothing like it yeah nothing like it is it that is so cool and I feel like it's something that you can go back to if you wanted to as well like did have you ever thought maybe not that great that it could run forever but if there was a time yeah maybe you would go back to theater one of the things that I get asked a lot is if if I miss theater yeah and I keep saying no because I know it's there right I know it is um and you know they would give me call hey yeah you know we'll see if we can work a thing out yeah um and I think that sometimes actors creatively feel like okay I got to get back on a stage or something and I got to do a thing and I got to you know get my juices going um but I think that's the thing that keeps it settled for me yes and I know it's there and when it's right I'll be back yeah so then I have to ask you about some of these you know musical episodes that crazy anatomy has done where people always go what is going on here but but there's some of the most memorable and you kind of see how talented everybody is in different areas what what did you love doing those episodes I absolutely loved the season seven music of it yeah I tell you working up to it we had done some concerts in um LA raising money for it was the actress fun at the time it's the entertainment community fund um and we would do like a live concert one year we did it with the the the cast of um of uh oh my goodness private practice yes yes thank you yep yep one we're all like different yes there we go um and then the next year we we did it completely on our own in combination with the with the music event and so it was a big deal the the studio and the network were not game for us doing the music event at all so we ended up having to do an audition so we did this prompt to like lounge uh kind of night where we um outfitted our rehearsal space and we made it like a little uh like a blue note or something yeah we did a little concert and Shonda Rhymes narrated it and we had the whole episode planned out what it was going to be and so it was um Sada Ramirez me and Kevin McKidd and we did all the music for what it was going to be so by the time we did that child we had them up on they feet holland yes that did everything that's through the row and the money there's a lot more so that was the the summer before um uh we got started so then we spent the whole first half of that season preparing so we were all in in voice lessons we were all um in in like pre-directorial stuff figuring out what the shots were going to be well you know where it was going to take place on set it was a whole build up to getting there to shoot it so that when we shot it it would be like seamless right and it was it really did go so incredibly well uh Tony Falon directed who was um a writer at the time I'm not sure if he was showrunner then but um it had been with us for a long time and um to I am because of that process because we pre-recorded everything I it's one of the episodes on the most proud of yeah yeah it's it's such a fun one it's one that everybody looks back to and there's always now like those songs when you hear those songs it makes you think of that episode yeah yeah we because we actually figured it out when we were trying to figure out what the music should be and of course we were thinking okay original songs or whatever and then the idea came up to say wait a minute why not use the I can't iconic catalog up to that time and then just repurpose them for this and it that it just worked it worked so nice yeah it's really good it really did uh you've also directed yes a bunch of episodes which is so interesting to me because that side of it having to be in the episode also direct what is what does directing yourself look like it's gets a friend yes yeah it's a little bit like that a little bit like that that's a good answer I think this is my 28th episode that I'm directing to see the either the 28th or 29th you probably got that one down yeah I unfortunately don't have it okay we'll get that one um uh it's it's a different muscle for me but I actually love the muscle it it it leans into the anal retentive part of my brain the Virgo part of my brain uh where there's order and it's it's almost like collecting the puzzle pieces and then putting all the puzzle pieces together and being elated when I get to editing and they all fit like that's kind of what my challenge is um they they say I'm an actors director but I'm also um a director for our floor because coming from theater I 100% understand and appreciate every single person's role and how we get done what we get done. And when props goes out of their way to build something or to do something a certain kind of way that we came up with in our production meetings, I want to feature that. I want to show that, right? If we're in a room and we've done a bunch of flower arrangements and I know set deck went and got that and got a deal, but I want to see all of that because I just appreciate everybody's effort so much. I feel like especially in theater, like you mentioned, you notice that a lot more. I think everyone is so involved day to day. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're really thinking about, oh my god, so much went into this set, where as an actor who maybe just shows up to film, not realizing everything that happens behind the scenes. What do you think makes a good director? Wow. Well, I guess from the business standpoint, it's finishing your days. Have you done your day? Do we need to drop something because you weren't able to get to it? But it's really about the communication. I'm somebody that once we rehearse the scene and then we show the scene, I like to let my director of photography know everything that I want to see and all of the directions that I want to work from because then that way all the other departments can stage accordingly. Don't set up your stuff over here because we're going to turn this way, right? Maybe I should park my things over here, right? It just kind of helps the entirety of the room and helps people know, oh, this is where we're going. This is what we're doing. I can set up for that as opposed to, okay, well, as a latency and see if she asks for something. Right, right, right. Do you ask to director, do they approach you, depending on the episode? Approach, because even from the beginning, I think it was in season four, my producers said to me, you know what, you should think about directing and I didn't have a slice idea of what that was. I was the actor that stood on my mark, right, and did the play every time. I'd never knew where the cameras were, what they were looking at, what the shots were. I was just surprised on, at that time, Sunday nights, I think when we were on to see what the product was, because I'd never paid any attention to how we shot it. I never went over to village to look at anything. I was like, part of me just didn't even want to know because I didn't. So then I had to start paying attention. So then I spent all of season five watching our directors in particular and shadowing at other shows to see what director processes were. What other shows did you shadow at? I went over to the fosters at the time. I went over to scandal. But the thing where I got my best education, I think, is watching directors on our show, the ones that didn't do so well, because the thing was, okay, what where, where did they go wrong? What is it? And those were really my biggest lessons. I always find it incredibly interesting with TV shows, especially long-running ones, that you really have so many directors come in. Sometimes you just think, oh, this director directed the entire show. Right, right. But it takes a lot for a director to come in for an episode or two. They don't know the cast. And then you can really tell if they're a great director or not. But it's really interesting, because we would have directors over the years that have come in that are very, very seasoned, that really understand, here, this is all I need for this. I know what the cut's going to be. We don't have to do a whole lot of this. We just put the cameras here and here. That kind of thing. And others that are certainly more collaborative and not just with the director of the photographer, but also with the actors to kind of get a good feel. The mix that works the best is, look, you have your plan. You know what the scene is going to look like, how you would love to stage it. You give it to the actors and see how they feel about that. If they're in the same place, we play. Hopefully everybody can then be on the same page. And then the information that you gave the director of photography works well. I would start to lose respect for directors if they would come in with absolutely no idea about what they want to do, and say, well, where would you normally be for this? I don't think that's a good thing for actor. We're doing show after show after show. We want to be directed. And you also want to feel respected. At the same time, in a way, you know you're supposed to come in and know our show. Yeah, well, but I don't know if I don't know if it's, especially now because there's so much content. I don't know if it's possible to know every show that you're going to see, right? You spend time during your prep, of course, looking back over episodes. You at least want to have some kind of idea, but because there's so much content, sometimes you get the job first. And then, you know, you go and figure it out. Like me, I don't know how direct on something. I don't watch. It'd be hard. Like I loved going into the fosters or into good trouble because I'm like, what are you talking about? You did this last year. I love the same thing when I went over to scandals, you know, and certainly with grace. But that's part of the skill set of, especially directing for television, is being able to respect the floor, of course, respect, you know, what, what the actors want, they want in me to contribute to the scenes, but then knowing how to efficiently get that done because you have to finish your day. Yeah. Yeah. So interesting. It is. And so many seasons, there's been so many different iterations of the cast and people have left. People come back. You have new new interns, you know, they got to come in. And we have a really like a new core group that I feel like has been solid these last few seasons. When they all came in, do they come to you like show me the ropes? What's you've been here the whole time? What do I need to do? Now, you know, when you go someplace new, maybe, maybe it depends on the kind of person out of you, but it's less about help me or what, but it's like, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So, but one of the things that that I did do, because this was right after COVID, we were all kind of in one rehearsal space together in, in like a taped off cubicle. Right. Like where our chairs would be. So they would be properly, you know, social distance. Right. The right amount of space. Yeah. And we kind of had a communal area in the middle of the floor with the rug. Well, we could kind of sit, but really it was about, you know, maintaining that social distancing. And it just occurred to me one day, because we were all on set together during some scene, I guess, where we all needed to be there. I was like, let me just like talk to everybody and make sure that they're okay. And I wanted to pass on to them a lesson that I had learned in the a series that I did right before Grace called Bob Patterson. It was right after the the table read. And the director wanted to talk to like new people that had, you know, never done television before or just kind of, you know, not what it was a Jason Alexander series. So he need to talk to him. And he said, look, you guys did the audition. You got the role and you're here. Great. That's done. You don't have to keep worrying about the audition part. Right. Now it's about let's have some fun. Let's figure out who these characters are. You deserve to be here. So don't keep questioning that. Now people will watch people will pay attention, but don't worry about that. Right. And I kind of wanted to impart that to them to say, don't worry about trying to fill a void of a character that's not here anymore or you're the next one. So any of that, right. You came here of your own accord. So now let's spend time playing with that and discovering that. Please don't lose the perspective that we're actors, which means we're here to play. Yeah. And the minute that it doesn't feel like play, it's like it's too serious. Okay, then we've lost the whole point of of wire actors. And I hope that was good stuff. That was really a great advice. And you really bring up a great point because there are, you know, episodes that can be extremely serious. And so yeah, you could slip into a day where you're like, this has gotten really serious. But you have to be reminded, you are here to play. You're here to be yourself and have that confidence that got you the part in the first place. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think people sometimes forget when they get a job or a role. Yeah, you got it for a reason. Yeah, yeah, yeah, which is really great advice in not just for acting, but in general, absolutely, absolutely. And it's, um, it's, uh, uh, uh, so you were reminded, you reminded me of a couple of things. I was trying to say, which thing was that? But that less than I actually learned in college, um, about being in the room because I was having a really hard time in an, in an acting class. No, actually, the acting class was pretty easy. It was one of those scenarios where when you're, when it's not your turn and you're having to watch everybody else, and then they get the critique from the, and, and everything that he said is exactly right. Right, right. Yes, that's exactly what you guys are doing. If only you guys, you need to really pay attention until it's your turn, right? And And then when it's your turn, and he says the same thing. Whoa! (laughing) He just doesn't get it, just, I was doing all of that. You didn't see it, you know, just drama, drama, drama. And that was the lesson that he taught his name is David Gideon at the Least Rossburg Institute. And he said, you made it, you're here, right? You did the audition, you're in the program. So stop questioning that. And now, now, I'm just adding to your instrument so that you can then do the work. But it was good though, because then I never had a problem with being critiqued ever again. I never took anything personal, ever again. And I was so glad to learn that at like 19, 'cause you know, we walk around, 'cause everything is personal. The wind is blowing. Why? Why is the wind blowing? Why me? What did I do to make the wind blow? Yep, so it took all of that away. Totally, totally. That is a really great advice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely is. Ria said that, you know, there's been fun episodes, very serious episodes, crazy episodes. Do you have a favorite Miranda Bailey story line? Something that happened to her that you were like, I really love telling this story. Well, oh, yeah, I do. And in that same vein, if that was the other thing, that was gonna say, when even the way our show is written, that even if it's the most serious of subjects, we still find the humanity in it, which often leads to laughing, even if it's inappropriate. Right? That's why we get through things. But that's how we get through things. I love making sure that I'm constantly adding in the understanding that Miranda Bailey has obsessive compulsive disorder, because that's something that can be like, oh, she's on meds now. That's okay, we'll never have to talk about that again. But whenever I have that moment to, if I'm at home or if I'm in my bedroom to make sure that I reach over and take my meds for the night, right? Or to anywhere that I can add it in to say that this is something that you are still working through and you're still living with, right? Those moments when I get back and I'm to count, oh, and I notice, right? So that, or that bin that's the one, get me back in order, let's count. Let's do whatever it is that we need to do. Those things, I think, are really important. I love to do that. Yeah, that is a great point because viewers watching can relate to that, right? It doesn't just go away. Like you said, oh, she's on meds now. Right, not just storyline for a couple of minutes. No, like now she lives with it forever. Yeah, yeah, that is true. That is exactly why you're a great actor.
