Jumpscares of Girlhood: The Scary Truth About Being a Woman
1h 32m 1s
The episode blends personal storytelling with humor and self-reflection, covering a range of relatable life experiences. It begins with practical lifestyle tips from Stitch Fix and Mint Mobile, offering accessible solutions for shopping and wireless plans. A central theme explores the unexpected "jump scares" of girlhood—ranging from stinky clothes to car accidents and period fears—highlighting how childhood anxieties linger into adulthood. The hosts dive into their own challenges, including postpartum stress, overcommitment, and the difficulty of balancing personal and family responsibilities. They also reflect on societal shifts, such as the return of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show with inclusive, mother-led representation, which is seen as empowering. Another segment examines a heated moment on *Dancing with the Stars*, where a judge’s strict critique and a partner’s social media response reveal tensions between professionalism and emotional boundaries. Throughout, the conversation emphasizes emotional awareness, self-care, and the importance of setting healthy boundaries. The episode concludes with product promotions for wellness, including immune support, hydration, and hair care, all framed as tools for personal well-being. Overall, the narrative balances humor, vulnerability, and practical advice, offering listeners both entertainment and insight into everyday struggles.

call me benjamin franklin i would respond we are the presidents if you are listening on audio hop
over to youtube for this video just to see see the costumes so you kind of understand yes the
silliness if you're curious about the lore maybe why we're dressed up as founding fathers maybe why
we're referencing benjamin franklin as a president it's because we did learn well i did learn on this
podcast that he was in fact not a president and yeah it's maybe like a humbling thing to learn
publicly on the internet through comments
also that they're not in fact 52 presidents but 47 okay that was pretty close thank you and you
know maybe you were considering people that did two terms right maybe there were 52 presidencies
no i really i really thought it was 52 okay 52 different people that's how many uh weeks in the
year is that that's probably what it was i have a stupid one is that how many states there are
there are only 50 states there's only 50 of those oh my okay i can't we honestly didn't
getting this together honestly really opened up a lot of holes in my knowledge all for all of us
knowledge of history knowledge of our country and like we wanted to say the pledge of allegiance and
you let us know that that's not i mean i think it's still appropriate in a way because it's our
history right um maybe the preamble is a little bit more how do we how does that the bill of
rights i don't know something like that but um here we are and this week is really it's
i was just really concerned that we were gonna buy i didn't know if you're gonna say this
i wasn't gonna call you out i just want to say this right now call it out call it out i was
really concerned that we were gonna buy we were just looking at you know founding father costumes
high quality ones high really high quality look at abigail's knee yeah you pull them up over to
your kneecaps they're not gonna go um sexy benjamin franklin little skin
no abby was really worried she said in the group chat she's like we really just need to be careful
that we do not buy the confederate uniforms because that would be really bad and i was like
i'm not worried about it first of all i don't think they sell those anymore you really had a
wrong war wrong war i said oh i forgot about the revolution you but it came back to you and that's
all that matters it did it did jingle i'm like we got rid of those monuments so i don't think that
amazon's still providing the cost to no i feel like you can still find something to go abby's
confident pull your wig i know you know what off girl it is giving me a do you have a claw clip in
there my curls are falling out you guys look hilarious you guys i will say we had a friend
come over shout out to sarah for doing our makeup and um my son was very concerned he like
enter he like came in the room to tell me he was like mom i don't want you to do it different and
i was like what different he's like i don't want you to do it don't look like don't do that because
he saw addy and abby go first and he was like so worried i was like don't let him see me you look
like a man you was right yeah you know it's halloween this is our halloween episode we got
a spooky spider that is actually really cute yeah you know now i'm looking at it in frame it's hung
a little high but that's okay i took it off your porch on the way in so i'll put it back on my way
out yeah that's gonna fall down let's give a shot
out to hannah who also works on this podcast you took it off you didn't want to sit in that
for the two hour long episode which we're gonna sit and talk hannah dressed up in surprises as
an american eagle a bald eagle a bald eagle american eagles american eagles i was like
take something of american eagle sounds and i was like why are the jeans company coming up
a bald eagle i swear we're intelligent yeah
but this is just a silly goofy day but normally we are here to share the hope and the hard with
heart and humor and we're still gonna do just that today i just started spilling
you start crying crying in this makeup i gotta be careful yes please my hard no i'm gonna start
with my hope we're gonna ease in let's ease in i was actually just really excited about this
costume yeah this is my hope i was looking forward to this since like two weeks ago
and here we are it's here it happened i didn't know if it was gonna happen here we are it happened
yeah i feel like we're really good at pulling things together last minute that's addy i was
gonna say it's really really good at pulling things together it's really good of us it was
sunday and i was like i think we need to order costumes yeah we're really good at it it's addy
she's our doer she's our doer yeah and um i don't know it's just been really fun this
yeah it's been fun i saw you twice today i feel like that's hopeful that's that's a good we haven't
had like a day just to hang and catch up i know i really need to do it i know let's do it let's do
it yeah so that's my hope i'm excited for Halloween
my hope is that was this my hope last time i talked about running no i talked about fish
or sleeping yeah i have been running four times a week four days a week yeah sign up for the
half marathon with me oh my gosh no come on abby that's 10 more miles or like 11 more miles i'm
gonna sign up today let's do it abby you i will hold you back so bad no we don't have to stay
together oh i can't do that on my own she's like let's do it and then i'm gonna leave you the dust
and i'll just be there
you
no i really i really feel like i am stick to my two miles no i'll do it with you and i'll go at
your pace abby i don't think i could move that that's just mentally not true it's mentally that
is mentally the state how many months postpartum will you be um it really hurts my head um how
many months postpartum will you be in december three christmas oh it's four that's not that
much actually four by christmas i mean let me at least do a 5k for you
first yeah okay and then i don't know what do you jump from after 5k 10k six miles it just goes to
double that's just crazy do your turkey trot in november do your high rocks in february and then
do a half marathon some other time see that was never on my radar i was just feeling good about
jogging sorry i'm making a competition sorry you're just enjoying the hobby i was like i just
felt really proud of myself for not stopping yeah just enjoy it for a while my like literally my
pace is for two miles is still not enough for me i'm just enjoying it for a while i'm just enjoying
it i feel like nine and a half that was mine for two miles though yeah and it feels like by the end
of that i'm like yeah good thing we're stopped good thing we're home it's just about getting
out there and doing it doesn't matter how fast okay you know i'm really proud of you for running
because you always said you couldn't do it yeah i am proud of myself because here's the only reason
why i did it is because i have no other there's no other time to work out yeah actually that's
my heart i need to manage i need to get some stuff off my plate i'm mega stressed and
and I just feel like it,
I hate when I overcommit myself, which is my tendency.
I'm like, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
And then I hate when I'm like overcommitted and then I don't.
And then like I fall short for the people that I like committed myself to.
And I feel like I've just been doing that in so many areas.
Like I'm not being the friend I want to be to people or like the wife I want to be,
the mom I want to be, the worker I want to be.
Like I feel like I'm just – and it's because I literally was like,
Abby, you just need to manage your time better.
And then I was like, I actually just need to do a little bit less.
Like we need to pare down.
And so that's where it's hard to figure out where I can create that margin,
but like it has to be done.
And so that's my hard – I feel really stressed.
And it's making me like short – like I'm short-tempered and just like not as fun.
And like I feel like I can't live in the moment as much.
And here's the thing.
I'm always shocked because I just do the same things
and I expect something different to happen.
And then I'm like, wait a minute.
You just keep doing the saying yes and then it's piling up.
And then you're like, how did I get here?
And you're like, well, it's only you.
So it's only me that's doing it to myself.
But that means that only I can fix the problem.
So that's what we're going to try to do.
I'm going to try to sit down this weekend and just rehash my life.
Well, you're at that hard part of postpartum too where you're what?
You're 10 weeks?
10 weeks.
Okay.
At 10 weeks, it's so hard because you're far enough away from birth where you're like,
I should – I'm getting back into it.
I'm getting out of the house.
I'm doing things.
I'm back to the schedule.
I'm adding things.
But you're not mentally or hormonally feeling –
you're just not there.
Like you're still so fresh in postpartum.
And so the overwhelm is so high.
It is so hard to manage everything.
You're not sleeping.
You just started sleeping this week.
I'm sorry.
It's just so funny that we're having this conversation.
Yeah, I just started sleeping this week.
I started sleeping this week.
It's been seven days.
It's crazy.
You're just sleeping.
You're still nursing.
That is such a time suck.
It's so hard.
It is hard.
You've got to give yourself grace.
I think I felt like I was underwater the first six months just because I'm like,
I literally can't keep up with everything.
Yeah.
I just – it starts –
I start to feel like –
I start to feel like –
I start to feel frustrated with myself like for not getting it done
and then also for not – for getting myself to that point.
So then I'm like, what are you doing, Abby?
But we'll just pare back and then I just feel like I've been apologizing a lot.
I like – I want to live where my feet are and not my head thinking,
okay, what do I have to do to get this to happen, this,
and then this will have to do this.
I'm like everything is just like calculating in my brain.
For sure.
But –
That's the growing pains of the adjustment.
You're just – you're family.
Yeah.
It's like you literally just can't do as much.
Which is right now, but you will again eventually.
I didn't – I never felt like I was going to be able to after Vivian.
I was like, I'm just – I'm constantly going to be running and standing in one place.
You know?
Like it just felt like I was spinning my wheels but nothing was getting done.
But it'll – you'll come back.
That's good.
Yeah.
There's hope.
Don't worry.
You're still so fresh.
You're still figuring it out.
I always think that I'm like, oh, you must be farther along because I feel like you're doing so well.
But then I'm like, wait, you're still in 10 weeks.
I'm always like surprised.
I'm like, she's still so fresh.
We are fresh.
Yeah.
You're very fresh.
Little baby.
Little baby.
My heart is actually kind of similar.
Actually, just this week specifically, I've felt like that exact feeling of just overcommitting.
I constantly have this feeling that I'm not getting anything done and just that – I don't know.
Maybe it's like moving into the new season.
Things are busy right now.
There's just a lot going on and they're all fun things and good things and exciting things.
But I feel like I've also been – I need to go back and like – I need to look at my schedule and prioritize myself correctly.
Because I feel like everything's kind of getting missed in the different places.
So I've been feeling that.
Like that a lot this week as well.
And maybe it's just coming off of a couple trips, you know, and then you're kind of like, you know, trying to get back into things.
I don't know.
But I've been feeling like my wheels are turning.
We could just be stressed together.
Yeah.
We'll just be stressed together.
How are you feeling?
You're getting close to the end.
Yep.
I feel fine right now.
I feel like I'm managing the craziness.
Like there is a lot going on in a lot of areas.
So I feel like work-wise, I'm like, whew, we're going to get it all done before I have a baby.
And then I'm going to have a baby and we'll just chill.
For a little bit.
Yes.
Christmas time.
Christmas time.
No, I feel like I haven't had time to think about a lot because I'm like, house and then baby.
And so right now is like the waiting period of those things happening.
And I'm like, yeah, I have four, three weeks until we close on our house.
And I'm like, have you started packing?
Oh my gosh.
That's two of the biggest life transitions at one time.
Moving and moving and baby.
And Thanksgiving in between.
Just throw Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving in there too is great.
No, I need to start packing.
I was waiting till my mom came in town so that I could ship Brielle off for a couple of times over the weekend.
So then I can like really get some stuff done.
But I'm like, what can you do?
Yeah.
But like before it's like, what do you not need?
That's tough.
So I'm going to pack up all the baby stuff.
I say just you're not doing a big move.
Just throw it in whatever box and just get it to the house and then hash it out from there.
I'm like thinking about like our storage closet.
I'm like, because it won't save you much time.
Even there, if it's put all organized because you're still going to have to put it in.
You're going to have to create new systems anyway.
Yeah, exactly.
We'll help you out.
Yeah, we will.
No, it's going to be good.
There's a lot coming up.
You know what?
I feel like a Victoria's Secret angel right now.
I was thinking we looked exactly the same.
Just like them.
They probably are looking at this and being like, oh my gosh, those girls are so sexy and glowy.
And glowy.
And stunning and beautiful.
Look at those mothers.
Yes.

Now we're going to transition into the wow, that's crazy.
Hit it.
Wow, that's crazy.
No, I'm just kidding.
Wow, what if we had a soundboard?
Like instead of that being put in post.
Like Abby just pushed the button.
That would be really fun.
So like an old fashioned radio.
Just get a cowbell.
Yeah, I love it.
OK, I need to be filled in because I did see some things about the Victoria's Secret fashion show, but I don't really get it.
Well, what what did you see?
Positive or negative?
It's not positive.
Yeah, same.
I saw Barbara did it six weeks postpartum.
How amazing is that?
Yeah, incredible.
I thought it was really cool.
But I thought I'm like, yeah, like good for you, girl.
That's it.
I mean, what a moment.
Role model for some girls like just like getting out there.
You're not going to let being a mom or pregnancy or postpartum hold you back from, I don't know, doing something really cool.
Yeah, I think we've had a lot of that recently, like with Dancing with the Stars, with Whitney being pregnant and doing.
We're not hiding anymore.
Doing it.
Barbara's six weeks postpartum.
And I really loved what she said.
She was like a lot.
Most working women in America only get six weeks of maternity leave.
So here I am back to work.
You know, it's different.
You're a model.
It's a little crazy.
But I always pray that that would be true.
That would be my luck.
Yeah.
I'm like, maybe God, after six weeks, I could, you know, maybe I look like that.
But it's all right.
That's the thing about it, though.
It wasn't my luck at the job.
You can look.
I mean, I'm literally freshly postpartum, too.
And I can still look at her and be like, yeah, I look nothing like her.
But good for her.
Her, like that type of, like her being so hot and beautiful doesn't make me less hot or beautiful.
No, it's encouraging.
It's just more so like, oh, wow, look at that.
I know.
Good for her.
Good for her.
Yeah.
It's like anyone's success does not mean your fail.
It's hurting you and making you fail.
I'm like, you know what?
I'm not walking a runway.
No, that's why she's on that runway is because she's not like everyone else.
Exactly.
Yeah, yeah.
Exactly.
She's her own breed.
She is gorgeous.
And she should be there.
Wasn't there something about a $50 million?
Was it $50 million?
Yeah, Kylie Jenner wore the fantasy bra.
Did you used to watch?
Did you ever grow up watching the Victoria's Secret fashion show or remember that phenomenon
as a kid?
Okay.
I never really remember hearing about it until college.
That's what I'm saying.
Why is this like the first time?
I'm really hearing about it.
Like, I know people that had gone to it before.
Yeah.
And I didn't remember even then.
I was like, that's cool.
It was huge.
I remember, okay, my freshman year of college was 2014, 2015.
That was actually the first time I remember hearing about it and watching it.
And it kind of felt like the Super Bowl for women.
I remember all of us girls had snacks and we sat around and we all watched the Victoria's
Secret fashion show.
Wait, is the audience women or men?
It's both.
I think it's mostly for women.
Mostly women.
I think the fashion show, I feel like it's for women.
I don't know if I would have fun watching it, though, personally.
They used to have a lot of, they still did like Tate McRae performed.
They're performers and stuff.
Like, I remember when your Ariana Grande performed.
That's fun.
Taylor Swift.
Okay, I get it now.
It was like a concert, but it's just all women.
You know, it's exciting and girly and cute and feminine and they have the pink part of
the fashion show that's like over the top and cutesy, you know?
And so I felt like it was, it was really just for the girls.
So this bra, it was the first time in eight years that they've done the fantasy bra on
the runway.
in one way.
And Kylie Jenner was the one who. Who's also a mom.
Who is also a mom, yeah.
To littles.
How old are they?
I think they're younger, so maybe like four or five.
Okay.
But I know, there were like 16 moms that walked in the show.
That's amazing.
And I feel like Victoria's Secret has done a really. So they did the show for a long time, and then they canceled it for a couple years.
Because the tone around it kind of became like, oh, this isn't realistic.
Like, women don't look like this.
It kind of just became about unattainable beauty standards.
There wasn't a lot of diversity on the runway either.
And so I feel like they've done a lot within the past couple years.
They brought it back, what, two years ago, three years ago?
Mm-hmm.
And they've done a lot to try to change the culture around the show.
And so instead of it being this aspirational, like, you'll never look like this type of vibe,
to being like, hey, there's moms out here who just had kids.
And women of all colors and shapes and sizes, but still honoring how beautiful and cool and fun this show is.
I just thought it was really encouraging and had a bit of nostalgia too.
That's cool.
Did you watch it?
I did not watch it.
Okay.
I did watch a lot of clips of it, though.
Okay.
Yeah.
I don't actually know where you watched it.
That's probably how most people were watching it.
Yeah, I didn't.
I didn't go in and watch the whole thing.
I was looking at my belly.
Yeah, your costume's the most accurate.
It actually looks the most legit, yeah.
You have a little beer belly going on.
Going on.
I feel like the sentiment around it has only been really positive.
Good.
Yeah.
I think so, too.
And I've seen a lot of the clips of Barbara's husband, Dylan, talking about her.
And I thought that was just. It's just really sweet, too.
Like, it's just. I don't know.
It must be weird for him as a husband with his wife.
But he's also probably used to it.
Her being a model.
Like, people. But then I'm like, they are pretty in revealing clothing in front of lots of people.
Yeah.
And just for the sole purpose of being adored for their beauty.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, I feel like that does have to be a little bit weird for the spouses.
But it seems like anyone that married someone that's going to be doing that, they know what
they're getting into.
For sure.
And we love that.
Yeah, totally.
They're very supportive and sweet.
I feel like sometimes the internet can go one of two ways.
It's either like, wow, girl power.
Like, this is amazing.
Go women.
Women are awesome.
Or it could be like, this is so unrealistic, unattainable.
Yeah.
They're setting unrealistic beauty standards for girls.
Yeah.
What do you think determines how that doesn't happen?
I don't know.
That's what I'm curious.
Like, how do people decide which way they're going to lean or, like, fall?
Whoever gets to it first.
Whoever's the loudest and gets there first, probably.
Maybe.
Maybe.
There are a lot of people.
A lot of people are upset that there are influencers in the show and, like, some famous
people.
Like, people are annoyed that it was Kylie Jenner who wore the fantasy bra.
Who else would wear that?
I know.
Just, like, people who have, like, earned it, necessarily.
Like, models who are, like, very well-known models and, like, that have, like, been there
I mean, that's a tale as old as time, though.
I feel like that's going to be, like, that's probably the same sentiment that they're hearing
about Broadway with influencers being on Broadway and, like, with influencers getting any role
in TV or film, like, they're, like, they didn't earn it.
And I understand.
I understand that argument.
Yeah, it's, like, free marketing for them, you know?
Yeah, I understand the argument of the people that, like, the models or the actors and actresses
that, like, don't have a platform and are, like, okay, well, what are we supposed to
do?
But then I also understand the other side of it where it's, like, that's kind of the
name of the game nowadays, like, like you said, for them to get marketing, they're incentivized
to have someone that can market themselves and their projects.
Right.
That's a tough, I mean, it's, like, one of those things where it's, like, I don't think
there's any undoing that.
Yeah.
But I can understand the frustration behind it.
Yeah, for sure.
And, like, authors, people don't like it if influencers write books and they do really
well off the jump, you know, all those things.
Oh, that's funny.
I feel like everyone writes books these days.
Yeah, I think more so in the realm of fiction.
Oh, I understand.
Right, because it's, like, if it's a memoir and it's, like, your story, it's, like, no
one's going to argue, like, oh, you sold a lot of books, like, but if it's, like, fiction,
then it's, like, fiction writers that have kind of just, like, lived this private life
and then they didn't feel like they got, like, the fast pass to, like, the New York Times
bestsellers list.
Oh, I could see that.
That's interesting.
Mm-hmm.
There was, um, they did this thing, too, for the fashion show where they went to malls
and did, like, a casting call at a mall.
That's classic.
Isn't that fun?
They used to do that, remember, in the 2000s.
I think they had a show trying to cast people for the OG runway show.
That's fun.
So, I feel like this new director came in and did a lot of fun things that kind of brought
you back to the 2000s and 2010s version of the show, but while also, like, making it
new and fun.
They have to have a lot of safety regulations, I would assume, because if you're, like, wearing
bras and underwear.
Like, how do you make sure that everyone, like, a casting call is, like, appropriate
and safe?
I think they probably wear jeans and a tank top.
Yeah, I don't think they're wearing, like, stuff like that in a casting.
Not for the casting.
No, yeah.
But, like, once you get to that point, though, at some point, you know.
Yeah.
I remember that was, like, a huge conversation.
I remember back in the day was, a lot of models came out and were, like, there were a lot
of things that happened that were not safe.
Yeah.
That we weren't taking care of.
So, yeah, I wonder how they've changed that.
I want to know what they're doing with their bikini line as well.
Yeah, they're waxing that, for sure.
They're definitely probably lasered.
They're lasered and waxed, for sure.
Probably both.
They're lasered, and then before the show, they also get waxed just to make sure.
I want to know what they're doing so there's no crazy wedgies.
They probably, they probably are, like, excited about the wedgie.
Like, look at that booty.
Don't you think?
They probably use fashion tape or, like, hairspray.
Yeah.
They got to have some serious hacks.
Yeah.
I need them to come out and tell me.
I'm sure someone has.
That's what I look for in their memoirs.
I'm just thinking about chafing, walking down that runway with your thighs touching it.
I don't think that's gross, but I don't think that's gross.
No, that's, there's a reason.
There's a reason I'm not touching it.
Yeah, that's fun.
It was fun to watch the clips.
Maybe I'll go back and watch the whole performance of it, but.
Yeah, you had another one with Dancing with the Stars.
What's going on with Dancing with the Stars?
There's lots of stuff going on in Dancing with the Stars' world right now.
We're going to be a little bit late because the episode, just because, like, when we record
these, it's already happened a little bit.
Okay, I genuinely have no clue.
Okay, you know Val.
You know who Val is in the show.
So, and you know he's married to Jenna.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
She's also a pro on the show.
Okay.
Carrie Ann, one of the judges, she's really strict about lifts, like what is classified
as a lift.
Hmm.
And so she called out Jenna for a lift in her dance and, like, pulled up the rules and,
like, read her what a lift is.
Oh.
Oh, shoot.
Yeah.
So that was a little, woof.
Okay.
They still got good scores, but it was a little, like, that was kind of a little rude, a little
stern.
And didn't have to do it necessarily like that.
Kind of sassy.
Well, it's more like, it's probably just embarrassing for the pro to get called out.
Like, it's really, we're evaluating the star.
Yeah.
Interesting.
Yeah.
Every week, every time, Carrie Ann is one that's like, you did a lift in a dance that
a lift is not permitted in.
And so then she, every time she calls it out.
Okay.
And so it was kind of like, but Jenna was like really caught off guard because it was
like an accidental lift or something.
Like, her foot accidentally came off the ground for something it wasn't supposed to.
Oh, it's like a style of dance that you're not allowed to do a lift in.
Yeah.
Oh, that's interesting.
So all of the ones that are in halls.
That hold are not allowed to have lifts in.
Oh.
So that happens.
And then you, they go up to like the judge's booth or they go up to get their scores.
Val is behind Jenna.
So you can see him in the thing and he's just like, not happy.
Later on that evening, um, or like the next day he put, you know, there's like statuses
on like TikTok or Instagram.
Like they're on your name and it's like a little bubble above it.
Um, and he put.
Something about going through the process.
So you're saying Fresh Prince on her name?
On her.
Yeah.
I'm just kidding.
Hey, call me.
Yes.
So that's the thing.
So he said, you almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night.
Okay.
Is what he had said on his little thing.
And then Carrie Ann posted later, like, this is what we're doing now.
Like on social media as a reaction to that.
What does she mean this is what we're doing now?
Like threatening.
Because she's taking it.
Oh, he was going to hit her rather than do we all know what he said?
What he said?
Keep my wife's name out your mouth.
Yeah.
Oh, he was probably referencing that.
Probably not threatening to slap Carrie Ann.
Right.
Um, and so then he got suspended for the week and wasn't able to dance.
Oh, with his partner.
Um, was that a threat?
Is that the debate?
Like she felt threatened.
I guess if she felt threatened, I'm like, okay, but I feel like that's kind of a lead.
I think it's not, it's not professional.
Yeah.
I don't think you should go online after and talk about your judges badly.
Yeah.
I don't know how she took it.
That's just what she posed.
What she wrote was, so this is what we're doing now.
Hmm.
Um, because her job is to judge and her job is to give critiques and some of the pros
are getting a little, a little soft.
So it was the online sentiment that he was in the wrong.
I think it's a little bit of both.
Okay.
A little bit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think it's a little bit in the middle area, but I feel like most people can settle on.
He probably wasn't referencing that he was going to slap her.
Like he wasn't actually threatening her.
No.
Whether or not she felt threatened or not.
He was definitely saying, keep my wife's name out your mouth, but it's also her job
to judge.
Yeah.
And give critiques.
It's true.
So he wasn't able to participate last night in, uh, the event.
No.
He wasn't able to participate last night.
Yeah.
He wasn't able to participate last night in, um, the dedication night.
How did Jenna Dewan do?
'Cause that's his partner, isn't it?
She did good.
No one goes home on, um, dedication night.
Oh.
But it is great.
Jenna Dewan, um, she did great and it was also funny 'cause she gave, Carrie Anne gave
out a 10 to Jenna.
Oh.
She, everyone else gave nines.
So she gave out a 10 when Val wasn't dancing with her.
That's funny.
It was funny.
It was funny.
It was funny.
It was Alan.
Alan was dancing with her.
She's like, "Suddenly I like it more."
Yeah.
Jenna Dewan is so beautiful.
She was one of the prettiest women I've ever seen.
The other really big thing that happened last night with dedication night, again, there
were a lot of people talking about it.
Yeah.
There were a lot of people talking about it.
There was a lot of people talking about it.
I know.
Yeah.
have been a whole episode before this comes out after this but you guys know tyler cameron
from he announced that he's pregnant his fiance is pregnant in their dance oh that's really cute
during dedication night they bring out someone to dance with and so he was dedicating it to all moms
everywhere because he lost his mom to a brain aneurysm i believe um and so he was dedicating
it to all moms and then his fiance came out at the end and he's like talking now like the song
was over and he was just like a voice it was a voice that he had recorded and he said uh he was
like talking to his mom and he's like you i got chills he's like he's like she's gonna be a great
mom too and we're having a baby and they did their gender reveal right after and they're having a
girl oh my gosh that's so emotional and crazy but that was a really big dance with the stars moment
wow that's beautiful i'm gonna have to go back and
watch that yeah you should go back and watch i want to don't make you cry i love the dancing
with the stars i feel like i never cared or watched it ever until they started posting all
these dances on tiktok and i like care that's crazy that you just said that i know but i just
never cared or dare i never watched it that's what i think is funny about the um the val thing
is that they never addressed it during the show they just said val's not with us tonight they
didn't mention any of it like what actually happened so like the grandmas and grandpas who
are online and they watch dancing with the stars for fun they're like where's that why is he not
they're not they don't know the like lore that's happening behind the scenes totally well that was
professional of them i guess it does kind of like it would look really bad if an athlete goes online
after and talks about how bad the referees were that game like that kind of looks bad you know
it undermines the whole organization it totally does so i can see why they like slapped you know
gave him a harder slap on the wrist for that it's like hey we're just gonna set a precedent here that
you can't come online and talk badly about your judges it's treason everything is subjective
anyway with dance and art and so like you can't be
nasty about it well actually it's not totally subjective because there is a rule book
she and she was referring to it and i guess the girl did break them so i don't like any lift i
don't like being lifted that was my worst thing about dance whenever and i was always the one
being lifted with matt yeah i just with matt is different also you're in high school and you're
like your high school guys are like touching you and you're i was just like i don't know you like
that i don't really like that and then i just never know what's gonna happen and then i got
sent into a light fixture one time what yeah and we were we had a basement studio that's like
our dance studio was in the basement so the low ceilings and then they just one of the guys was
six five just full extended and i was like into the light fixture i was like i hate this so much
i literally hated being lifted also every time a guy would lift me they were like you're heavier
than you look and i'm like oh freaking my god that's ridiculous i'm telling you high school
boys are just really you're like this was my cross
this is my cross to bear that i'm five two just dance and then also my other cross to bear is i
had to bring my car seat to school sometimes because i was shut up what are you talking about
what grade just ask my mom uh i for sure remember doing it in first grade i was in mrs cook's class
and we were going to make sense i'm thinking like we're like middle school no but trust me there's
not a lot of first graders are bringing their car seats to school to school like it was that
important i was that small that it was like there can never be a moment when she's in the car without
her dead because it's like this car seat this image everyone's book bags hanging up and then
mine has a car seat below it my booster seat thank goodness i'm rear facing still
you got your legs up there like this oh my gosh i mean that's funny yeah yeah oh anyway that was
so beside the point i just hate being lifted we did just try one it didn't go well thank you to

about today i have so many humbling moments we're talking about this episode are like spooky stories
about girlhood which is funny very spooky since the season well we're gonna read some of your
guys's girlhood jump scares and things about girlhood that no one knows about
it's really just a wild ride that you just can't quite be prepared for right off the jump i didn't
put this on my list but here's something i just came to my head before i jump into this is just
as an example my right armpit smells worse on my left anybody else have that it just feels like a
condition but if i go back to my clothes i can smell i'm like oh this shirt didn't smell but i
always have to smell the right armpit on the shirt to know if it actually smells or not you're
that needs vo yeah no that gets vo oh really okay well at least it's not both of them that yeah it's
to the bright side but hey that's a jump that's a jump scare example i never knew that about you i
just learned new things every day abigail you know i learned that last week about myself and
then i went through my closet and i was sniffing i'm like wow it's consistent
so i love that you went to fact check that it's halloween it's why did you have stinky
clothes in your closet listen i went through i've gone through many phases where have these
the deodorant has failed me and my yeah i just some of my clothes i have to get rid of because
they just permanently smell really smell yeah that's a dry fit fabric that stuff doesn't kick
all of it okay well you guys had some good submissions starting with anika i think it's
annika annika oh i wonder if i know this is my friend annika maybe sorry keep going she said
the overnight switch from i'm not ready for kids to i need to start my family yesterday oh yeah i
had that you're like i don't care then you missed and i was like i mean i want my i don't i don't want
my period yeah yeah see this switch happened for me when i turned 13. oh my gosh i actually didn't
have my period yet you weren't even allowed to be part of another moment for abby i was a late bloomer
i'm not kidding i literally i remember i told my
dad i was like i'm probably never gonna have kids when i was like 12 and then i was like
i think i want 17 of them all of them
no but that is a crazy it's just and it's just the mammal in us for sure we need to we need to
procreate i agree this gal said buying a house and then realize i have to be the one to decorate it
oh that one is spooky you're good at it though but a lot of trial and error it's spooky i don't
want to do it and you look around you're like i also am the one that has to clean it okay
even more spooky um this one says how expensive cheese is now how is that no one told us the girls
love a cheese board but they don't want to tell you how much it costs yeah charcuterie board put
one of those together a hundred dollars hundred bucks for me for a small one cheese it's sinful
actually you know what can we ban charcuterie boards yeah i'm over it i'm sick of them i don't
want the little snacks i want a meal yeah yeah yeah thank you thank you i've been saying i know
i know it's just they're cute they're pretty but they made me they made me
they make me tummy hurt i don't like that i don't like that the meat and cheese gets sweaty
yeah it starts to sweat when it's sat out there for a while it's just let's move on let's find a new
grazing trend okay yeah this gal said how to handle car accidents how to handle car accidents
who to call what to do all the things yeah actually that's really let's can we go over
that really quick i don't know the answer which is from your dad to your like boyfriend
i would call matt for sure but i feel like you're supposed to call the cops yeah i was gonna say i
think it's a good idea i think it's a good idea i think it's a good idea
should call the police i think you should not because it has to get reported right for insurance
yeah it does yeah but i probably would call blake and be like i got in a car accident but i do need
to call the cops just so you know this is where i'm at if you want to come help i'm gonna hang up
yeah and then i called oh that's true yeah also you know you're never supposed to stand in between
the cars you know like don't get out of your car and like look at the damage in between because
you can just get hit from behind it's just like there's never known that in my life actually
it probably depends on where you pulled over
that's true listen my parents are like extreme safety precaution worst case scenario people so
i have every worst case scenario of where to and to not stand like i'm mapped out and i realized
over the weekend maybe this could have been my heart i i'm imposing that on my three-year-old
and i have to stop i actually believe he keeps playing and he's like and then the turtle fell
and it died and i'm like why does he keep saying that like all of his toys and his games are dying
do you tell him like don't do that because you could die yeah i do oh oh
i didn't realize it no like you could
get hurt yeah no it's usually like well you could get hurt and die like i'm like you could fall and
break your neck i have to stop i'm glad you're catching this now i am yeah so i need to redirect
i need to redirect i remember you saying that about knives in the bottom of the dishwasher yes
you're like you could fall and then die we read this started raining and my friend's sister was
her kid was in the pool and she was like hey buddy you have to get out and in my head i was like yeah
because you could get electrocuted to die and she and he was like i don't want to get in the pool
she's like buddy you have to it's just not a good idea to be in it when it's raining and i kept
waiting for her to say it and she never did and then i was like oh my gosh i think there's something
wrong with me that was dark there's nothing wrong with it you're just trying to keep your baby safe
yeah i'm like you know what i need to calm it down i'm gonna calm it down this one says being
sick while living on my own hashtag i miss my mom oh seriously i actually remember this in college
this was a defining moment for me when i got sick for the first time and i was like
who's gonna take care of me it's sad i had to go to Walgreens myself yeah that's a scary feeling
being sick for the first time as a mom oh that is this one there i that was a scary day for me
one day i was really sick and i asked blake if he could stay home from work and i thought he said yes
and then he started to get ready to go to like he was he's like okay i'm heading out i was like
i said i can't take care of brielle what do you mean it's like i can't get off the couch
and i won't get out of the house and i won't get out of the house and i won't get out of the house
scary like what am i literally supposed to do what do you do you go yeah yeah he had a meeting he had
a meeting no caleb definitely like they have to go to work what are you gonna do it's like i can't
take a sick day for this oh bethany said adults don't get summer breaks that i think a girl who
jumpscare was when i was like wait what do you mean i don't get just lay out and get a tan every
day in the summer i'm so pale ever since ever since i became a woman that was really a girl
i'm like what do you mean i have to go to work
i can't just lay out by the pool i was like why am i why did i used to be so much tanner than i was
like oh you just had so much more time yeah literally what do you mean christmas break is
just like christmas eve half day yeah and then christmas day two weeks yeah where's my two weeks
literally spooky says anything related to car buying insurance tags loans yeah honestly one
of our friends actually you guys know her we'll call her out it was caitlyn she pulled over her
registration was expired and she left and she was like i can't just lay out by the pool
literally told the guy she's like that's a blue job i don't of course she did apparently he laughed
and she actually didn't i don't think she got any type of fine ticket i got pulled over um a couple
months ago for that as well and i looked at him i said my what is i like was like oh oh tags i'll
give you my husband's number he could tell i was completely clueless about you can find him yeah
he's like just get him done i was like i certainly will i'll be on to that oh this gal said kid throw
in the car i'm not ready for that illegal that happened yesterday about oh gosh brielle's old
enough that she could start throwing up you know it's crazy she's probably been old enough for a
while she had it no she's never thrown up it's not that bad when they're that little it's nonchalant
it gets so much worse i hate to say that that's one of those things where i'm like yeah you start
out i think god eases it he's like yeah he's like he does ease you in because the kid will just look
at you and go and then the next thing you know then it's like everywhere
speaking of that i have an update braille's eating again yeah she's eating a lot did she stop so
maybe she's getting some she was not wanting to eat anything dang it now she's getting teeth
um engagement purgatory waiting is killing me oh we're saying a prayer for you right now
oh lord god give them strength end that trial
just go get married oh morgan said your mortgage payment can and will change why is that why would
it
fixed rate not fixed rate yeah we had a fixed rate i don't know maybe it's not fixed mortgage
payment can and will change see we don't know about this stuff see i think my mortgage is
gonna go down eventually yeah every payment is a couple cents less i don't i don't know
what you're saying i don't know what my mortgage is i'll ask you know what the bank i'll just ask
the bank just live it just live in that piece just live that no savvy said the first period after a
there is nothing scarier than that i've never had it can someone tell me wait i'm not even kidding
yeah it's just why is it worse why is it bad everything is just extra extreme i think you
also kind of have forgotten about what it's like to have a period yeah you do you forget it's been
nine plus months and then it's intense like so much blood i'm so curious when i'm gonna get it
at that point you have no tampons you're like i don't have anything so unprepared you're like let
me use my my diaper oh you also don't know when it's gonna come you don't like i don't know when
like everything about it is a shock and a jump scared yeah but i'm sure you guys will know you
might get yours soon because you're not waking up at night to pump anymore or like to feed is that
what determines isn't that what people say like you while you're breastfeeding but if you're not
breastfeeding every like three-ish hours it's not maybe is that why i always got my back at six
months yeah that's what i've been told interesting that could be i believe that i'm scared oh
taking apart and putting together a car seat when it needs cleaned
oh i don't think you that's not my job i don't do that time to get a new car seat
it just gets trashed like well just gotta replace it yeah seriously this guy said living with a boy
after getting married they're just so messy see i was the opposite caleb was clean i was messy and
then i shaped up i really shaped up um yeah i wasn't phased honestly so what does that say about
us exactly blake said something the other day like he asked he's like can you pick
up your car seat and i'm like i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know
that shirt up off the ground and then he but then he was like but don't worry he then also
said but don't worry about all my clothes that are on the side of the on the side of the bed just
don't worry about them i was like okay good you understand that you they love the self-awareness
we have this running joke because for years caleb's socks just i find them everywhere like
every day i find a new pair of socks just in a new place it's not just like on the floor i'm like
oh this one's in the fridge this one's in the fridge next to the fridge on the countertops
in my car like they're everywhere outside inside my car does this too and i they're usually on the
stairs i'm like you took them off as you're going up well i came to the conclusion because i posted
about this on instagram so many girls were like same same same it's the male equivalent to them
taking off their bra oh it totally is like they're overstimulated they just got to take their socks
off where they are i will say my bra does end up in crazy every place i'm like okay so it's their
socks in our bras makes sense that makes sense that is true actually wait a minute there was a
table when the orcan people came in yesterday i was like oh that's my mother's every time i take
mine off on the couch while we're like watching our show at night and blake's like please take
that with you like don't leave it here when you go to bed don't leave it it is the female equivalent
to the bra okay now we can have more grace this one says how many decisions there are as a bride
while planning a wedding oh yeah it all sounds fun and games until you're in there and you have
to do it you could just make i have no advice for that
how scary it is to change careers or even just decide to get a new job as an adult yeah i could
see that i've never well i have done that but it does it is like an overwhelming shift you're like
oh everything's about to change again but it's good change is good i've never had a job
mm-hmm see i went a different route with my girlhood tragedies
okay i'm excited to hear yours mine were like related to like my body
i kind of went across my lifestyle my lifetime
yeah i'm excited to hear yours mine were like related to like my body

at neutrophil.com spelled n-u-t-r-a-f-o-l.com that's neutrophil.com okay well we went totally
different direction perfect what's your yours well i'll start okay i'll start with my like
youngest one do you remember when you were line lining your water line with
eyeliner and you just stabbed your eyeball that was a jump scare every time and you know what i
kind of missed that not the stabbing my eyes part but the water line kind of like doing white on the
water i used to do white on my water line because my eyes look bigger no no just like any waterline
eyeliner i used to always have it like smudging like underneath your lashes i use a tight line
but the water line oh and you're learning you just stab your eye yeah okay i use liquid and so then it would get in my
- On your waterline? - Yeah.
Ooh, that is. For dance competitions.
Guys, can you bring that back?
I want to see you guys with his eyeliner.
Okay, I'll do it next time.
Yeah, I'll do it.
I like it whenever we have like. When Blake and I have a fancier thing to do
or like a dinner date or something like that,
I'm like, let me throw some eyeliner.
I'm going to jazz it up.
I'm going to go waterline.
We need to bring back a little bit more dramatic makeup, I think.
A little dramatic eye.
I used to only wear waterline and no mascara.
So that was scary.
Like seventh grade.
I'm like so against no mascara.
I know it's a trend.
I'm so against no mascara on the lower lash line too.
Just the upper.
Do both.
It's going to help you.
It depends on my day.
Sometimes I go just top.
I've never noticed it on you.
I've never not done my bottom.
But when you have really thick on the top. What?
Covering your butt.
I for sure haven't.
Because I've actually noticed that you naturally have dark. I do.
Under eyes.
Like, no, no, no.
Like by your lash line.
Your lash line is dark.
Like sometimes I think you're wearing eyeliner.
I'm like, she's surely not.
No.
That's a blessing.
Thank you.
I think it's because my mascara is. I don't clean them all the way off.
So I think it gets stuck in my. No, it's part. I don't think that's it.
That's funny.
Mine is so many. I've had so many girlhood jump scares with sticky boobs.
That's a good one, Abby.
Ending up in place where I'm like, what the. Do you remember your first sticky boob?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
And I just remember. It looked like a chicken cutlet.
Chicken cutlet.
Literally.
Yeah.
Like, what about the ones that. I like the ones that have like the fabric.
Like just a thin. They have a fabric on the outside, not literally just like a chicken breast.
Mine were thick.
Yes.
Because I wore them for dance.
They were thick.
They were so thick.
I was like, why did they need to be that thick?
So thick.
And they didn't stick right.
And then I'd always find one on a shoe on the back of my pants.
Like, I was like, where'd they go?
I have a jump scare with those, actually.
When we were in. Where were we?
Cabo?
We need to go to Cabo.
It was me, Blake, Matt Howard, and your grandma.
We went to Cabo with you?
On the car.
On the cruise.
It was one of those.
I was like, Cabo.
But no, we need to. We should all do a trip to Cabo.
Can we please go to Cabo?
We were all together.
It's hot.
It's sweaty.
I'm wearing a tank top that's like a button one, so it's a little open.
And so I'm wearing my bra cup.
What are they called?
Sticky boobs.
Sticky boobs.
It's so sweaty.
So hot.
Yeah.
That's just what gets involved.
I'm walking with Matt Howard, Blake, Blake's grandma, and we go to this restaurant and
stuff.
They're coming off.
Fall.
Fall.
They're coming off.
And so I just take them off.
But then I'm like. Is this when we got ceviche?
You just free balling it?
Yes.
This is when we got ceviche.
I'm like, my. I'm like. Ceviche.
There is. If you look the wrong way, you are seeing something.
I was just like, I don't know what's going on for the rest of the day.
I'm telling you.
I mean, the next thing. You're like having a great conversation.
You're usually at a fancy event.
And the next thing you know, chicken breasts on the floor, right?
You're like, that's not mine.
I don't know where that came from.
Who left their chicken shopping with?
You're like, don't get too sweaty.
Don't get too sweaty.
And also, here's the thing.
That's best case scenario sometimes.
Because if it's not sweaty, then peeling that thing off. Sometimes I have to look at it afterwards.
Be like, make sure nothing got removed.
What are the ones that are like suctioning that you like?
I love those ones.
Cakes.
I need to get some.
Sponsor us.
That's why we love cakes.
So I can try them.
Cakes would be such an appropriate sponsor for this show.
I remember the first time I saw. Man costs are man costs.
All the girl dreams.
Yeah.
We need. Okay, cakes.
Sponsor us.
I don't know.
I'll never forget the first time I saw someone wearing sticky boobs.
It was after a homecoming dance.
And she took her dress off.
And I go, what are those?
It's like just straight scares.
Some of them are see-through.
And you should also know that.
Oh.
What'd you say?
No, I don't think you would ever want that.
Just maybe just for flatness then, I guess.
Yeah.
Anyway, interesting.
That was spooky for me.
That was spooky.
My second one, yeah, the period farts.
Why are they so warm?
You know what I mean?
They're so warm.
What does that mean?
They're so smelly.
What do you mean?
What does that mean?
Warm?
Warm?
Yes.
You don't think.
It's been a while for me to refresh my memory.
They're just so, like, hot.
Is this no one else?
I don't remember this.
I'm also not currently getting a period.
So, again, I don't.
It's been a minute.
Refresh your memory.
You don't have to respond.
You're not like.
I'm like, what is this geeky validation?
No, I'm tracking.
You know you have hot farts.
It's just warm.
And you're like.
Everyone has to leave the room.
Yeah, we know.
Because it will smell.
I'm just thinking about this being clipped.
It's a drop scare.
I'm like, get out of the room.
Get out of the room.
Don't lift the sheets.
I do remember, like, there's just a lot going on.
The indigestion.
Oh, my gosh.
It's always at the beginning of your period.
And it's just like.
It feels like there are clouds on my stomach.
And then they release clouds into the sky.
That's reek.
Do you know what I'm talking about?
I have sympathy for that.
We call them fury farts in our house.
Fury.
Actually, I don't know.
Me and my sisters call them that.
And, yes, it's a curse.
Fury.
Sometimes it's funny how bad they smell.
You're, like, shocked by it.
And I always can feel.
See, I would have thought fury was more the loud side.
They're furious.
Like, they come out hot.
And they're demanding attention.
And it's just so psychotic.
And it's a jump scare.
That's spooky.
Every month.
I had a fart the other night when we were in bed and going to bed.
And I didn't even smell.
You're probably going to do it whenever.
And then Blake goes, did you fart?
I said, yeah, why?
Does it smell bad?
And he goes, my head.
My head was under the covers.
I was, like, why?
I thought it was just heating up in there.
I was, like, why was your head under the covers?
I still get embarrassed if it happens.
Oh, my gosh.
I don't listen to that.
I didn't like that, too.
It's, like, a long time.
It's not just one.
You know?
It's, like, the whole evening.
You're, like, what did I eat?
It's nothing.
It's just your period.
Well, I'm scared for that to return.
It's scary.
The next one I said was pit stains.
And this is also paired with armor.
Because I just don't like that.
And it gets worse for me when I'm breastfeeding.
And I just don't like it.
But pit stains.
I remember the first time I ever got pit stains.
I literally was at Wednesday night church.
And I was wearing this olive green long sleeve old navy t-shirt.
And I just remember I got home.
I was, like, looking in the mirror.
And I was, like, down to your wrist.
It was, like, a circle.
And I was, like, oh.
Nothing will hurt your confidence.
That was when I was, like, oh, my gosh.
I hate puberty.
Yeah.
There is an excessive amount of sweat.
I was so embarrassed.
I, like, had never heard of it.
I've never had that before.
And then even to this day, I'm still, like, what's going to be clinging there?
And what color is it?
And should I put in towels?
What temperature is it outside?
Because now I don't use antiperspirants anymore.
And it actually does help with your armpit sweating to not use it.
Because your armpits get used to not having it.
Right.
But that transition was sad.
It was fierce.
It was furious.
Actually, it was a furious transition.
Furiously.
And then that was something that I was, like, I know that men can get it.
But it's just there's not the same level of shame attached.
And also, their shirts aren't going all the way up there like ours.
I always wonder how the real hot girls don't get pit stains.
Like, they always wear those cute little skims, short sleeves.
And they have the heather gray on.
And they just never have sweat.
It makes me not want to buy white, even though I like white.
You know, I've actually embraced my pit stains this year.
And I think it's part of, like, my 30s.
I'm like, I just am healthy and sweat.
30 and flirty and sweaty.
Like, I used to not wear cap sleeve because I didn't want to get, you know.
But now I'm just like, who cares?
No.
And I do it.
And I embrace it.
Okay.
All sweat I embrace now, actually.
You've inspired me.
Like, crack sweat.
All sweat I embrace.
I embrace that crack sweat.
So, if we have pit stains on the pod, don't call us out.
We're okay with it.
I actually want them there.
Wait, crack sweat?
Yeah, like, after the gym.
Oh, any sweat at the gym I don't care about.
Have I ever had that?
You can just tell me because I'm just going out.
I want to know.
I don't care.
Like, I will be going to the store after the gym with my butt crack fully wet.
Like, I don't care.
What am I going to do about it?
It's sweat.
I worked out.
Tell me I'm fit.
Oh, yeah.
I don't care if I'm coming from the gym and going out in public.
I literally have no. It's not my business.
It does happen sometimes when I'm not from the gym.
Like, it's just a hot day.
Yeah, it goes down my back.
It pulls right above my butt.
And it gets wet.
You know what?
I embrace it.
That means you have a good butt.
Thank you.
Abby, I'm just looking at your legs at this wide angle.
A little bit of skin.
She's sexy.
Sexy, sweaty, and smelly.
So. Is Caleb going to be really stoked when you come on?
I didn't tell him about this.
Should I wear the costume on?
You didn't tell him about this.
You didn't?
Yeah.
I FaceTimed Blake, and he was stunned.
And then he said, it's so good, it's bad.
It's so good, it's bad.
I'm going to scare all of them.
Oh, my gosh.
I love it.
Yeah, it's good.
Sweat's scary.
But no, it's not.
Because we're embracing it.
It spooked me the first time it happened.
And then every time since, when I would come back from an event, I didn't know.
But it is also spooky when you're at an event, and you notice it, and then you have to still
be there.
I know.
Yes.
And you're like, well, now I can't.
I can't move.
Yeah.
But now you're inspiring me.
I'll just, I'll make it a topic of conversation at this point.
We're going to embrace it.
My next one is clamping your ear with a hair straightener.
You ever done that?
Oh.
My sister did that to me the first time she ever straightened my hair.
And that is a jump scare.
It's actually a little T trauma that I've never forgotten.
And every time I straighten my hair, I'm very, very weary of my ears.
Very weary of them.
She went, clamp, pull.
And I went.
Oh, my gosh.
That's a great.
Yeah.
And she goes, oh, sorry.
And then just kept going.
Because that's hot on both sides.
Yeah, it was.
Yeah.
It rung all night.
I was in middle school.
I'll never forget it.
It was traumatic.
That was a jump scare.
Your younger sister or your older sister?
No, Olivia, my older sister.
Okay.
She was going to sneak me into a middle school mixer.
Oh, I remember this.
I was in sixth grade.
Yeah, I was a seventh grade, eighth grade mixer.
And she was in charge of it.
And I come downstairs in baggy basketball shorts and a t-shirt and like, just not cute.
And she goes, get upstairs.
And it was such a girlhood moment.
Like, she was looking out for me.
Oh.
And then it became a scary girlhood moment.
Dressed me in a denim skirt, mini skirt.
Made me look cute.
But.
It did burn my ear to the smithereens.
Remember when the look was pin straight hair?
Yes.
I did that for a while.
I know.
I can do that still.
Make it come back.
That's an easy one.
It is such an easy one.
It was a jump scare for me because I had such thick hair that was kind of curly.
And the straighteners were just not as good.
No, they were not.
And you had to go.
I would have to go over my hair for like an hour.
Oh, yeah.
It never was straight.
I used to straighten my hair before I curled it because I did have texture to my hair.
And I was like, the heat damage was permanent.
Dude, I know.
That humidity though.
What were we going to do?
I know.
Another one I said is when you break a nail.
And I know that sounds basic, but it is so spooky.
That just happened to me recently.
And that whole hand was almost out of commission.
And it really hurts.
It's so badly.
It really, really hurts.
It does.
When you snag that and you know immediately what you did and you just look down and it's
like, is it still there?
You think your whole finger is gone.
I know.
It's really that one.
And then it snags for the next eternity.
I hate it.
That is a bad one.
Do you remember the first time you wore a white shirt or white bra under a black shirt?
No.
Do you mean white bra under a white shirt?
Black bra under a white shirt?
Maybe white bra under a white shirt.
That's what I meant.
Yeah.
It was like a black shirt wouldn't show, but white bra under a white shirt.
Yeah.
My mom had to tell me.
That's a hard lesson.
You have to learn the hard way.
You only make that mistake one time.
You're like, no, it's, I'm concealed.
And then you go out there and it's like, honey, thank you for showing us what you're working
with down there.
And you're like 14.
Nude shirt.
Nude bra.
Nude bra all the way.
I didn't.
Yeah.
That was confusing.
It still does confuse me.
I don't understand.
Why are you sure it's scary?
Well, you're just making more white.
It's a darker white.
Yeah.
But I'm like, wow.
Are all white shirts just somewhat see-through?
Yeah, probably.
Crazy.
Unfortunately.
Um, this one I put.
Do you don't like it anymore?
It's just gross.
It can't be gross in the interior.
It is a jump scare for me is when I forget to shave.
My toes.
I'm currently keep forgetting to shave my toes.
Like you shave your legs and you're like looking down.
You're like, ah!
I will show you later.
Jump scare.
That big toe is big towing.
Not every girl needs to do this, but it's one of the special ones that do.
And when you forget, it's so scary.
It's really scary.
It's really sad.
And so that's one that I'm like, I've been jump scared by that before, especially like
even if you're like safer.
It's like.
It's always at those moments that there's some special thing that happens that draws
attention to your toes.
And like we never look at these and then now we're looking at them and now I'm mortified.
Right.
It's very, it's specifically embarrassing.
I've never noticed someone else's hairy toes.
So.
Okay.
Yeah.
I don't think, don't think.
It's a good track runner to have.
Um, a jump scare.
My lipoma.
No.
I didn't put that on here.
But it just seemed to prove it.
But then those girls I can relate are like, yes.
I had a really.
Is it fairly common?
Yeah.
They're super common.
Not in the position I have it.
I was going to like, I'm going to get mine removed.
I was like, I have a great hook.
I'm getting lipo.
Mo removal.
I can tell that you thought about that.
I thought about it a lot in the shower.
I was like, I have a great hook for this.
How can I, how can I make, how can I get a good contour?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know how to get a good content hook out of this.
Yeah.
I was like, how can I make money off my lipoma?
I'm just kidding.
No.
My last one was when you don't have a tampon and you have to shove toilet paper in your
pants.
Oh, I thought you were going to go somewhere else with that.
Well, there's a lot of directions I could have gone.
Have you had that where you're just like, oh my gosh, and you're just, you're like, how
much can I wad in to put down there?
But as you were thongs, yeah, it's not, there's nothing to hold it in place.
So you're just kind of like.
I do that probably every cycle.
I do that on the cycle every time.
Perfect.
You're well, well aware.
I never had a really heavy flow, so I'm like, I can make this work, but it's really not
ideal.
They make products specifically for this.
Why do I not have it ever when I should?
Right.
We're not prepared.
No.
I don't know the position you're in with your arm up on.
You just look like a man.
My nose is a little twitchy.
We can man spread in these pantaloons.
You know what?
I'm going to take my right.
I'm exercising the season.
I'm exercising my right.
What am I doing?
In the middle of right.
I'm sitting like this the rest of the episode.
Good.
That's a power stance.
This makes me feel smarter.
Oh, I like that one.
We're men and we're taking up space and we're going to interrupt you.
My legs barely reach the floor.
I sit like this.
Wow.
Oh, this feels good.
Do you feel good about that?
You're like, you're flying it.
I feel like I should be on the sidelines of a basketball team.
I'm going to do one of these.
Put me in the NBA.
You know what?
I want to talk about philosophy instead.
I'll talk about it.
Let's have deep, dark conversations about AI.
Not AI in this costume.
We should talk about the society.
What is this?
What's this called?
It's the fabric of society.
We should talk about it.
I'm going to sit back now like this and just.
Now that's different.
My last one.
It feels good.
It looks like I have a cast.
Why is no one getting cast anymore?
I don't know.
People stop breaking their legs.
What happened?
I'm confused.
I haven't seen you.
I haven't seen anyone with like a lime green cast in a long time.
Yeah, when you see it, it does stand out.
Or eye patches.
Why does nobody have eye patches anymore?
I don't know.
That's a good thought.
Remember when kids wear those?
When we were in Italy, I was like, why does everyone have arm crutches?
Like, they're not underarm crutches.
They're like the wrist crutches.
Oh, everyone did.
I didn't see one.
Yeah, I was like, that feels more difficult.
This feels like the 1900s.
Well, a lot of things about Europe.
It did seem like it looked more effective.
I don't know, like more comfortable.
Travel size.
Yeah.
My last one is just basically any time I shave my legs.
Looks like a crime scene.
I always cut myself.
Shoot.
Maybe you shouldn't say that.
We got flamingo out here.
It's not.
It's not flamingo.
It's literally no one's fault but my own.
I go so fast.
Matt's like, I know why you cut yourself now, because our towels will be bloody.
There will be puddles of blood on our bathroom floor.
Yeah.
Okay.
It's because I like.
It's wet.
I feel like I need to get my ankles.
I can't have one hair.
And then it's like those areas you got to go slow on.
Yeah.
You just need to get laser hair removal.
I got too much hair.
You just need to go.
You need to commit.
That's actually.
You're going to lose too much blood.
I make myself.
And they're going to lose you.
Constantly.
Puddles of blood.
Yeah.
Puddles of blood.
It looks like a literal crime scene.
I just.
Honestly, I just use their bath towels.
Bath towels.
I'm like, that's fine.
Matt's like, this is.
Are they white?
Yeah.
Okay.
Get some darker towels.
I use blood towels.
That's the solution.
Get darker towels.
Darker towels.
Matt's like, just please.
He's like, he's like, just slow down.
I actually did just buy darker towels.
I just can't be bothered.
That's a good idea.
I got chocolate brown.
Wow.
They're beautiful.
From Target.
That's luxury.
I just got sick of my white towels looking.
So scary.
So scary.

Okay.
Okay.
Would you guys, we have time for one.
We probably can't do both.
Do you guys want to do freak or fiction?
Did this crime actually happen?
Or law or lore?
Is it actually a law?
Let's do, let's do one on here and one on Patreon.
Can we do that?
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
Should we do freak or fiction here and then we'll do law or lore on Patreon?
That works.
Love it.
Let's do it.
Okay.
This is a fun little quiz segment.
Yes.
Freak or fiction?
Let's do it.
Freak or fiction?
Yes.
Freak or fiction?
It says number one.
The bank robbery breakup.
A 70 year old man robbed a bank, not because he needed money, but because he wanted to
get away from his wife.
After receiving the cash, he sat down in the bank lobby and waited for the police to arrest
him.
This was a 70 year old man?
Yes.
He wanted to get away from his wife, so he robbed a bank.
Yes.
Is this a true story?
So he could go to prison?
Yes.
That's the whole question.
I do not believe this is a true story because I believe there are a lot of easier ways to
get away from your wife.
I bet these men did it.
I'm just kidding.
That was a dumb joke.
You can cut that.
I'm just gonna say it's true because Abigail I'm just have to be the other
side it is true why in 2016 when you're 70 robbed a Kansas bank after arguing
with his wife he later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to home confinement
community service not the judge being jokes like you you're already in prison
yeah you got home confinement brother he's like that I'm not gonna give you
what you want that's like with kids like you're like that is what an epic you
know what made me decided I was like he's 70 right he's put up with this for
so long probably like yeah that will drive you to a crazy willing to do
anything that's the desperation okay number two the toilet that solved a
crime a burglar broke into someone's house and decided to use the bathroom
before leaving he forgot to flush allowing investigators to collect DNA
evidence that eventually led to his arrest
not that.
that's no way I feel like I've heard this before I'm saying it's true it's
true oh my gosh I've heard it before - I'm not sure if I've heard it from this
or if it was like a TV show situation yeah happened in but in California yeah
maybe it was a crime junkie that's probably what it was in California
investigators used DNA recovery from an unflushed toilet to identify a burglar
suspect. I think he was a crime junkie it's coming back. Andrew David Jensen was arrested in July of 2017 yeah he was like shoot I just committed murder but nature calls.
Leave the scene of the crime so we can drop a duke and then go?
Actually that's actually a common thing like people that commit crimes in
people's houses a lot of times they'll like eat food from their fridge yeah
it's like a sick thing. I'm trying to get in the mind of a killer don't I'm
trying to get out of that mind okay three the criminal who left a Yelp
review a burglar broke into a restaurant stole $2,000 and then left a one-star
Yelp review complaining that the kitchen was disgusting police investigated him
after he used his real name on the review please no I don't think so this
has to be fiction please it's fiction okay okay okay for the Halloween heist a
group of teenagers stole more than $10,000 worth of Halloween candy from a
warehouse only but to be caught after trying to sell the candy back to the
same company that stole it from I believe kids would do something like that wait
wait they so they stole $10,000 of candy and tried to sell it back yeah or return
it dollars of candy I'm saying this is false yeah it is false 10,000 just that's
too crazy and not the price of candy dude talk about a jump scare as an adult
like what do you mean that bag of candy for home that's what I'm thinking about
these houses that have so many trick-or-treaters you're dropping $1,000
easy these people that get full said candy bars I'm like wow you are a good
Samaritan rich I know the reason I know the prices is because Blake was like can
we get some Halloween candy for like us to eat right and I was like it's $15 for
that bag right no yeah for a small bag unless you're getting titsy rolls and
nerds yeah I love I love nerds okay last one the unins unexpected dinner guest a
woman broke into a string a stranger's house and decided to make herself a
shrimp pasta dinner when police arrived she claimed the homeowner had given her
permission to be there after they met at a coffee shop and she made shrimp being
so smelly yeah I'm saying Falls for two reasons one you don't just come up with
shrimp pasta on a whim right that's those ingredients aren't usually on hand
that's and then two it's a woman I don't think a woman would do this please no
she does sound kind of stalker vibes though like she met some at a coffee
shop oh but that's what she's saying it's true I'm saying fiction lock yours
in I'm gonna say true okay it is true in September of 2024 police in Madison
Wisconsin arrested a woman after finding her inside a stranger's home the
homeowner confirmed they had never met did she have
she like older and had some mental maybe she had something maybe like a mental
decline there's gotta be some other reason that a woman would do this pasta
is wildly specific like what a stinky fish you know like she just found the
shrimp on hand or did she bring it like I'm sorry about that in the brain random
shrimp sounds scary that sounds weird that I eat that right when you get it how
long was that left out I have to get my baby really quick get him looking like
this fishers looking at you like this huh I didn't know the founding fathers
were so progressive very breastfeeding friendly entire but baby's gotta eat
they probably didn't even touch their baby they definitely didn't change their
divers no you're too busy writing law dead quill pens yeah they were - it just
took him so long to write something with lightning they had keys tied to strings
and stuff so keys tied to strings that's how you got the lightning right perfect
I don't know I just remember the kite with a key I remember a kite mm-hmm for
sure those shoes are so big on your feet they're just dangling off your heels we
are gonna go do law and lore over on patreon yeah
where we say whether or not we think this law is actually still in place or if it's just all made up we are going to go do law and lore over on patreon yeah where we say whether or not we think this law is actually still in place or if it's just all made up
law and lore over on patreon yeah where we say whether or not we think this law is actually still in place or if it's just all made up
there's some wacky laws there really I've heard about some but I was like
wait that just got repealed I thought that was we're gonna share some spooky
stories oh yes yes do-do-do-do-do-do voicemails ask ask ask Abby
hey friends my name is Trinity I'm from Pennsylvania I just had my first baby
this year and he's starting to become super aware of his surroundings so I was
just curious that there was any habit or action that you didn't realize you did
until your baby started mimicking it I love y'all's podcast so much thanks so
much bye yeah yelling at my dog like he'd be barking like or he'd get up in my
face like get back get back and then CJ when he started being able to speak more
he he kept saying get away get away and I was like why is he saying get away all
the time and then I realized because that's what I would say to Lewis when I
was like really fresh postpartum and even like really pregnant and I felt
really bad about it and I was like I can't believe I talked to Lewis like that and I
can't believe my kid heard that yeah my kids still do that they're like pretzel
they say it in like a really mean yes voice I'm like that's I was like I gotta
stop yelling at the dog I know yeah I felt very I remember telling you guys
at the first I was like the kids are mean because I'm mean I know that yeah that was
or even just the way I say yeah recently Matt was like he says that exactly like
you and I can't get out of my head they're like yeah I can't even explain it
what if your kids are saying you're kidding me you're kidding me that's from that's from me
he said it today yeah he says he was saying a lot of times what you're kidding me he says
you gotta be kidding you gotta be kidding CJ's been saying I just don't have the time for that
I'm like what do you mean you don't have the time and were you hearing that like I was like buddy
you're thirsty he was like mom I need my water I said go get it buddy it's in your bedroom I just
don't have the time for that and then it was a fight because I'm like okay but I'm not gonna
go get it like you need to be a big boy and go get your water I'm not gonna do everything for
you he's like I don't have the time mom like he doubled down he kept saying it and I was like
I don't even have an abundance of time you don't even understand what time is you don't even what
is your clock you don't even look at the clocks I don't know how to explain that to you so I think
I've been saying that a lot like you don't have time for that that's for me okay next one hi Abby
Abby and Addie my name is Danica and I love listening to you guys my question for you guys
is what are your some what are some of your favorite date nights thank you bye we just had
the best date night it was so fun we went to a high school football game Friday night
lights baby I love doing it in the fall we went and got Mexican food before and then we went to
a local high school game and normally if we don't know the teams we'll pick each pick one and then
see who wins and then maybe you get to pick dessert or something but this was fun we took
the kids and we went to our local local high school game it was really cute it was super fun
um we've been creative with date nights really no you should have been so um I don't really have a
good idea for you other than going to the cheesecake factory just find your local cheesecake factory
we did get some like conversation cards and I have to move your mic closer we also got some
conversation cards and that's really fun and because sometimes I'm like how do we talk to
each other right now like and so that's fun to like how to like break that seal and then you
don't really need the card anymore but like sometimes I'm like I don't know how to switch
gears and talk to you told you about the time I was still in mom mode and I like talked to the
waiter I was like yeah I ate it all gone they're like good for you little lady I'm trying to think
what we actually do or what is fun when we have the time is we like going to the movies cute you
guys are movie people yeah Addie saw scary mommy oh yeah other mommy I did see other mommy it was
so stupid why did you see the demons like I don't was it demons I don't think so I don't know who
this lady was to be honest that was the most demonic trailer I've ever seen it is was I was
usually even if a movie is bad it's like I don't know who this lady was I don't know who this lady
is like okay that was still fun to go see it but this one afterwards I was like I'm upset that we
spent our money to watch that in theaters Blake wanted to see it and I'm like that's fine a scary
movie whatever but Blake wanted to see it and it was just the premise of the movie was just so
stupid there was another scary movie called mama or something that I actually saw I saw that no and
at the end the little girl goes back to the demon mom
turns into like butterflies or whatever i don't know okay that's not the one i saw did you ever
see ma no i don't think she's that famous actress from the help i think okay there's a bunch of them
in there that was horrible it was so robert actually i might have seen it she looks familiar
which one is it ma i don't know it's from 2019 cute no 2019 i saw that one and i was like it
was horrific it's like these teenagers that like are they're like pranking her i believe
and then she like no no she's like the cool older lady that will buy them alcohol for parties and
then she like gets them in her basement for like a part she's like you guys can party over here
and then she's like crazy and has been obsessed with them oh no i haven't seen this i'll watch
actually it's honestly very entertaining yeah um and it is spooky uh-huh and i remember a lot
of details about it for having watched it what was it seven years ago last one hi abby
abby and abby my name is mariah and i was thinking um if you guys could be casted on
any reality tv show which one would you guys like to be on anyways i love your guys's podcast thanks
so much for um always being here we appreciate you guys sweet well you guys i actually feel
kind of weird about this because i tried to watch a new show thinking it was a real like a game show
because i do that's the only reality tv i do like is like
game show competition shows and it's a scripted game show what like they're trying to make it
look like a reality tv it's on netflix it's like the willy wonka show oh that's scripted it's
scripted as soon as you start watching you can tell that they're actors what it's incredibly
weird to watch weird i feel like they really thought that this was gonna land in some type
of way but it honestly made me lose my interest because i was like it's just like modern day
willy wonka they're like yeah they try to make it look like it's nowadays too
and like he's reopening it that is scripted if it's not then this is incredibly weird
oh my gosh this is nine unscripted episodes no way have you guys watched it
no way because they're acting like willy wonka's a real person
guys are they just like really trying to like sell the bit you know
like are they just trying to get into character they're like he's he's reopening the doors of
his factory are they just like going the wrong way are they just like going the wrong way are they
just going along with it like the theme you guys watch the first episode and see if i'm totally
crazy they're not like interrupting each other at all like it i feel weird now okay if that show is
is not genuinely not scripted i feel weird because you're like who talks like this yeah and even the
way the storytelling is it's like you see people getting their notification but like the camera's
like kind of hidden and so it's like they would never have caught this moment of like getting a
notification that they got a golden ticket no there's no way
i cannot believe that okay um reality tv show i don't know i don't watch i would be on the great
british baking show great idea i'd be the first american on if they never have i don't think so
liza koshy was on it but she was a judge if you saw she used to date david dobrik like a long
time ago okay can i tell you something i still watch all of david dobrik's videos oh yeah she's
cute do you like him too yeah i love him yeah trust me i saw that video i watch all their videos
that's so funny um
okay i'm going to mr beast video i would do i would do a mr beast game i feel like you would
take it would that would be fun yeah i would do beast games i would do the great british baby yeah
i would do cupcake wars cupcake wars would be fun that would be fun yeah yeah i think i would do a
i would do wipe out wipe out i would do a game show ones i would do um what's the one where you
spin the wheel of fortune i do that price is right
do you know that my labor one of my labor delivery nurses won prices right oh i know someone i know
someone who wanted to yeah from college she won a lot of money cashing in that's good i would do
prices right right family feud would be so fun wait we should do that can we do it we should do
like at home family feud or just like try to actually get on the show i think let's try to do
it should we do our recipes for always hungry yep i made spectacular rice krispy treats last night
the best i've ever made i love those
last week really caleb said these are the best ever made i said you know why i thought a recipe
for the first time i feel like you always make the half-baked harvest ones no i did the little
ghosts on top and they were so cute and adorable and fun but i'll post the actual recipe of the
well you know i'll give her the rest listen the recipe will be in the description box
and it's really good it has the extra marshmallows in it it's the perfect ratio that's my gripe with
rice krispy treats
when there's not enough marshmallow and it's just i'm just eating dry treats that's what i make a lot
of times and these are the perfect ratio of marshmallow to krispies and then of course i went
the extra mile and i put the dark chocolate melted on top and then i did the little white ghost with
the eyeballs didn't follow the recipe you did you still just i did you know can i tell you what
blake you make his rice krispies what he browned the butter yeah did he add vanilla because i put
vanilla in the butter and it was so the key is also to add a little salt to your eyes that really
helps so i could even do more
okay let's try it again maybe when you take this recipe brown your butter a little bit and you put
it has vanilla in the butter which is so good and then it will sprinkle i used to think browning
butter was so hard because one of those things my mom would tell me she'd be like that is hard to
get the right well yeah the first time i did it i was like what are all these bits yeah that's what
it is am i supposed to keep those out if you're like no no that's the part you want that's the
way i burned it see i don't think it's hard it's not hard it's just like when you're ready to make
cookies you have to like pause because you don't have to let your butter let it go you're gonna
really mess up your dough
mm-hmm but it's so much better those brown butter cookies you made that one time were
super delicious yeah they're my favorite recipe to make it just takes a little bit and 10 words
in the title yeah it is a long time it was like brown butter salted maple pumpkin cookies with
chocolate chips on top and sprinkles yeah something crazy i don't know if i had those
i do remember that she made them for her girl i remember that it was a long time ago that was
fun yeah i know we did our monthly girls nights yeah i think about that a lot we were so festive
here we all had too many kids we've been procreating guys i had no kids at that point
we've been multiplying we are how long ago that was it's overwhelming um my recipe i'm just gonna
link the sliders i made for family dinner i know they were good thank you thank you so good they
were very easy to make and they were um they i just i got the recipe on facebook that's
my gosh it's really cringy it's really cringy but here's the thing i say all these facebook accounts
still are linking to the same food blogs that you're getting from pinterest it's just a different
way to get it and if you have screen time limits you find yourself on facebook sometimes that's
what it's not the recipe coming from facebook it's not the fact that you're just scrolling facebook
it was dismal yeah it's like a sad place to be it was sad i wish i could on facebook i'm like get out
give me off give me off sometimes you need to go to see where you came from because the only people
i'm friends with are people from junior high someone put a crazy rant on facebook the other day
about like we're still getting on this platform on facebook and calling people out and like that's
the vibe of facebook you just perfectly summarize the vibe of facebook it's hostile it's also very
you also can post reels on facebook i do all mine because it's instagram yeah oh yeah are mine yeah
mine are on there sometimes i see one of my posts i'm like what did i post that i'm here too and
then it's no longer safe and i have to get screen time limits right yeah i screen time limit my
facebook oh that's ridiculous
sad that i can't let myself get there it's so funny okay well i gotta go to a gala yeah okay yeah
i need to get changed i don't even know if my dresses came in you need to just keep your hair
like this um you guys are in book club our full book club review will be on next week's episode
