Julian Rosen on Living a Fearless Life

In this episode of Explaining Extraordinary, host Dr. Chris Lee interviews Julian Rosen, founder of the Fearless Life Project. Julian shares his journey from battling loss, grief, and depression to developing a system that helps people overcome fear-based limitations. He explains that fear is a programmed survival response that treats uncertainty and discomfort as threats, often leading to inaction. By educating individuals on the neuroscience behind fear—such as how the brain defaults to freeze mode—Julian helps them see that fear is not a stop sign but an invitation to grow. He advocates for daily practices like meditation, journaling, and intention-setting to build self-awareness and break the cycle of reactive living. Taking action in spite of fear, he argues, rewires the brain through neuroplasticity, gradually making fear less controlling. Julian emphasizes that success hinges on clarity of purpose and serving oneself first, as the brain cannot differentiate between serving self and others. The interview concludes with a call to climb the right ladder—one aligned with personal purpose—rather than blindly following societal conditioning.

Welcome to the Explaining Extraordinary Podcast where we interview next level game changers who are bringing you the secrets, strategies and stories of how they transcended average to be extraordinary. Now here's your host, Dr. Chris Lee. Hello friends, welcome to another episode of Explaining Extraordinary. This might be the, I don't want to say the squirreliest interview that's ever come to fruition because there's not a lot of squirrely interviews in the past, but this has been I think one of the most synchronistic alignments of purpose and intention that I've ever come across. Our friend that's joining us today is Julian Rosen and the way that we connected was I have to say like somewhere in like the one in a billion chance. But like dude when we when you just meet someone and you know at a deep level that like you are just meant for greatness and that they are just on point here to serve and they're waking up on purpose, capital P. Like that's who this dude was so I knew I had to bring him on here and get it going. Julian, thank you so much for joining me today. Dude, my pleasure, my pleasure. Man, no pressure. You really built you really built that up. I feel like you listeners make this dude better deliverer. Yeah, so Julian runs a McDonald's next to a subway inside of the station. I run both the McDonald's and the stuff. It's no big deal. He's a manager and yeah, no, but seriously brother, do it. Like tell tell us a little bit about your story and kind of where you are today because you have a beautifully crafted lifestyle that you live but it was not always like that. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, absolutely. So really, you know, I'll start with what I do now and backtrack a little bit. At this point, I run a coaching platform called the Fearless Life Project and just like the name really gives it away, it's it's really removing the fear based limitations from people's lives so that they can just take action freely and fearlessly and consistently on what they actually want and what they actually give a shit about. Because you know, I firmly believe in this is something I found repeatedly true in my story of my battles with loss and grief and depression and anxiety and feeling unworthy right like if you dig deep enough. The things that are holding you back like when you brush away the excuses, it's really just a fear based limit staring you in the face and so. You know, I just kept running into these barriers on my journey and I was like if I could just remove the fear aspect if I could just evolve my relationship with the fear aspect of everything that's going on. I feel like this whole journey would get easier and like a scientist in a lab, I did it. I like what identify would when fear was present in my life and I would act in spite of it. I would really single it out and call it out and step directly towards it and just if you if there was like a trajectory chart of my life like the up arrow would just shoot up exponentially when I would take action in spite of the very thing my brain was holding me back from. And so that's when I really I was like hey, I got to systemize this thing so I can teach it to other people and be I've got to start teaching it to people and so you know that's really what I do every single day and the results. Not to to my own horn but the results have been incredible not because I'm pedaling magic but because I'm helping people remove limits from their life and then they just go ahead and do their own thing and it's incredible to watch so yeah that's that's what I'm doing now and. Yeah, dude, the thing that tickles me pink most about this is that there's a lot of like motivational coaches out there that you know really want to help people but dude you have science you have research you have like a degree in behavioral there like I it's just blows me away that you are able to take all this research that's coming out in neuroscience and behavioral science cognitive behavioral therapies all these things that are coming out and you're putting it into action steps for yourself first of all. And then you're true and tried like this work this didn't work and then you're like sharing the message with the world so like all this stuff is not just for like you know people back and understand it like that's so beautiful. Yeah, man, it's been it's been so much fun. It's been scary as hell. It's been everything in between. And yeah, it's it's philosophically it makes sense and resonates with me as a human being and resonates with me spiritually but yeah the science is there too so all this stuff I speak about yeah it's not like a raw raw YouTube motivational video it's like no no no I can tell you what's going on internally I can tell you what's going on in your logic that I can tell you why your sabotage yourself I can tell you why you're overthinking and over reacting and and and upper limiting yourself I can tell you all these things I can tell you why and when I can tell you why you you realize you're not broken right so someone listening to this if you are stuck if you are doubtful if you are suffering in silence if you are playing small if you do struggle with consistency if you do whatever if you're not where you want to be odds are you're not broken odds are there's just something going on in turn. And then going on internally that you don't know about. That's so beautifully said to yeah and when you can take the stank out right when you can take my out it's like oh I'm not broken I'm just running outdated software let me get the update. Exactly yeah dude that is so spot on we in my group in my tribe we talk a lot about having a caveman brain trying to go to the moon in a rocket ship because that's that's essentially true but it's only a caveman brain if you let it be it can be upgraded to run at the highest capacity of human capability and you can download emotional intelligence and you can learn new strategies and we've known this kind of thing for five thousand years right like there's dudes on rugs out in India that have been sitting. And Lotus pose levitating off the ground telling us to find inner peace that's where true happiness is and we've just been like no not exact but then the Western world says hey by the way when you do this and can access a flow state you're 500% more productive and it's like well damn that makes a lot of sense why somebody at 25 years old can do the work of somebody that's been in their job for 50 years and now they want to retire but this dude is just getting started well he's been in flow for five years. He's just in that inner peace but back to your you know helping people break out of fear fear is such a programmed yeah response you know inside of our society inside of our nervous system how do people really start to break out of the confines of that. Yeah yeah well first it's it's kind of like going in the basement and shining the flashlight on what you think is the bogeyman and seeing that it's like the furnace from home alone right like you can see that it's it's just part of your psyche it kept you it kept your ancestors alive so you can't hate it it's why you're here today but you need to understand that yeah we are running in this survival mode threat response when there's no threat. So the little thing seem big the challenging thing seem insurmountable and when this thing is just running on autopilot yeah it's going to help us perpetuate our limits over and over and over again all day long if we let it because it thinks it's keeping us safe so really again education just like we were talking about before the call right empowering through education like howling people hey like this is your blueprint this is what is going on kind of like if if your mechanic lifted up the hood and was like I get it your car keeps stalling like let me show you why right so you can actually start to like you can actually start to pull this this this burden out of your subconscious and actually see it and actually identify it and see like oh this is what fear is and so the human brain is a sucker for logic right it's a big thing if you can if you can shed light and use truth it'll stop believing the lie if you do it enough yeah and so if you can and what I do personally as I show people like okay at a fundamental level what is fear do fear helps you avoid danger okay what is your brain perceive is dangerous well in our modern society when there's not bears and tigers and other cave people trying to murder us biggest our biggest perceived and I'm using air quotes right now so no one can see a perfect danger right now is uncertainty and discomfort like that's what our brain is on high alert right now like that's what it is subconsciously wired to avoid so what are I would say 100% of the people committed to changing their lives where are they going where are they stepping they're stepping into change they're stepping into the unknown they're stepping into something new now now your brain doesn't care if that's good change wrapped in one hundred dollar bills right it doesn't differentiate between good change and bad change it sees any uncertainty and it just blankets it as danger so when you are stepping towards benevolent change fear fear chimes in and so many people take fear as a marching order to back down and pack it in but but again just using logic yeah if fear is helping to keep you safe from change what do you think you are right on the verge of when fear chimes in the loudest massive breakthrough massive change and so So when you can start to educate people on, "Hey, fear is nothing more than a declaration that you're going somewhere you've never been before and it's inviting you to settle right back into your limitation." That's all fear is it's a declaration and an invitation. It's an optional invitation that you do not have to accept. And obviously amazing things happen when you decline the invitation and step boldly into a goloign direction. That's, I firmly believe every self-help book boiled down to like every like you know, meat head motivational videos. Like just do it. I believe a life. Just do it. Yeah, dude, that's it though, realistically. If you can take your beliefs, drop it into what your purpose is and then take daily actions that's at it. I mean, I say this over and over again to my clients. If you show me your habits today, I'll show you your success in 10 years because it's so true. If you're wiring out of your life, the things that are, I'm not worthy, I can't do it. That's just fear knocking at the door trying to keep you safe, trying to keep you inside the confines of your life. And I'm sure you would agree that, you know, fear turns on that fight or flight, but what it really turns on in like 90% of the studies that we're seeing now in mammals is freeze. Yeah. And so many people that just get locked down like they get a little bit of stress in their life and they just completely huddle in, pack it in, we're going to call a day. But what my mentor really explained to me is fear enhances focus, but it just enhances it in the wrong direction. You know where attention go, energy flows. And if you were really focused on what you do not want, that's exactly what fear wants you to do. But the moment that you have that self empowerment and that self awareness to say, okay, fear is enhancing me to see the negative. What is the energy on the other side? What's the polarity of this? And then turning that on in your brain and using skills and strategies to like functionally put that into action steps. Do the universe is your oyster? You can do whatever the hell you want. Yeah, 100%. And one thing I'll say is like in fear, doesn't always chime in is like that gripping your heart, like you know, you're in a bad neighborhood and you hear something at night. You know, like sometimes it is like that, but a lot of times, like I said, because right now the danger, the threat is change and discomfort, right? A lot of the times like fear will take the form of just really turning on the negative narratives in our head, right? Like fear will really start to play those stories in our brains, those narratives, those limiting narratives of how we aren't good enough or how we aren't supported in our journey forward or how, you know, if we do step up as our true self, we'll be judged and rejected and left alone, right? Like fear kind of has a, where's a couple hats? Yeah. And again, so when that stuff is chiming in the loudest, when you are starting to doubt yourself the most, when you are starting to replay past failures, when you are starting to overthink about how you're going to be perceived, that's also fear inviting you to settle right back into your limitations, decline it, decline it in step four, decline it in step four, and the best thing is, and I'm sure you could talk about this all day too, right? Like when you do that, your brain changes. Oh, yeah. Like you become, you evolve, you become more and more fearless, you, you like neuroplasticity, your neurological patterns change. So the more you take action in spite of fear, the more fearless you become, right? Like the more power you become, the more bold you become, and then, you know, the fear voice that fear mechanism never truly goes away because again, it's embedded in our psyche and unless we get a lobotomy, we can't like, it's not going anywhere, but our relationship to it becomes so much more absolute and powerful. So that is profound and I think the big direction that I want to point the finger down and say, let's go down this road right now is the action steps of how to do that. Because a lot of people that I at least speak to, they're in personal practice or coaching clients, a lot of the time, it's like, yeah, well, I know this is there, but how do I draw a blind in the sand and say, fuck this, I'm going to go forward. Like what's the action steps that you implement in your life and that you help teach other people to do that is like that line that says, no, here's where this stops. Yeah, 100%. And so really to provide the most value to someone listening to this right now, it wouldn't do you a service to just say, hey, do this because that is ignoring all of the groundwork that goes into raising your self awareness, right? So to give you a tactic to add to your list of tactics that you get from books and podcasts and videos, what it be doing you a service. I want to tell you, and this is what I tell every single client, like it all starts with making yourself a more powerful implementer of that tactic. And so, you know, before I give anybody insight on how to narrow in on what you are fearing, how to strategically move past it, how to take action boldly, how to make sure you permanently rewire your brain. After all that, we gotta just bring you back to a place of self awareness where you know what you're thinking and why, meaning like, do I have all my, it doesn't matter what their end goal are, is, right? Whether it's personal, professional, financial, whatever, right? Like, I need you to be waking up every day in a peaceful state proactively with enough time to meditate, with enough time to journal, with enough time to recalibrate who you are. Because most people wake up and then boom, autopilot turns on and they're just living reactively. >> Same thing. >> Yeah, yeah. And so, so, you know, I could tell you how to take action in the face of fear. And I have a nifty little four step sequence that, you know, I'll probably share with you before time is, you know, before the end of the interview. But remember, like, just pulling that out of nowhere when you're already living in it, in a really stressed out reactive state, it's really not going to do you much good. >> Yes. >> And magic happens when you can start doing some of these things and, dude, I call, you know, I call the fearless five at the morning routine that I do, my clients do. But dude, I just look at it like this super brain smoothie and each ingredient is strategic, right? So, meditation goes into the smoothie, gratitude journaling goes into the smoothie, setting your intentions for the day goes into your smoothie, right? Like, each, you know, there's a slight movement routine just to activate your body and drink water, right? Like, there's these just subtle things that just internally bring you back to where you are. It brings you back to the moment. It brings, it allows your brain to say, yo, we're not running autopilot today. Like I am here, I'm in the throne, I'm in the control room, I'm here, right? Like I'm at the, I'm at the seat of my consciousness. >> Yeah. >> And when you can do that every day and you can speak, you personally can speak to how this changes your neurochemistry and your hormonal infrastructure. Like, when you can do that every day, you are stepping into your day with so much more self-awareness. So when the moment comes to identify and act in spite of fear, you are so much more aware, you're so much more empowered and you are so much more ready to do this and reap the benefits. >> Well, we're done for the day folks. That's about all we could possibly do. And I say this was so much love in my heart. I was so trying to set you up right there and you just freaking crushed it. Because truly at the end of the day, clarity is king. And if you don't know where you want to go, you're going to be going a thousand miles an hour in every direction, be pulled by every motivational video, you're going to be listening to every podcast. You're going to be doing everything because that's just what's there. But if you don't know where you want to go, you don't have a purpose, you don't have intention, and you don't have anything else behind it. If you only wake up every day with purpose and inspiration, you are a thousand percent off. And way about our off inside of the own world to live your dream, to live your truth, live in that confidence and to tell fear, to screw right off that I have shit to do. And that's where, if you've ever seen the willpower studies, when you start your morning and set your thermostat at service to self, immediately that's what your brain starts to seek. But the important thing to recognize here is that service to self, that part of the brain inside is like the lateral thalmic track does not recognize self from other. So when you start to service yourself, it can't tell the difference between service to me and service to you. So if you're really looking to serve other people, it starts with serving yourself. Because you have to turn that on inside yourself before you really go out and serve the world. And you can only take people will you've been, I mean, dude, you just, that's so many incredible points that I want to go further on. And like you talked about, you're setting that thermostat in the morning. If there's one piece of advice that I would give to somebody, is starting your day with a purpose on purpose, capital P, because you get up on purpose every day. It's a natural survival instinct. If you don't wake up every day, you die. You wake up with capital P and have purpose to your day and have intention, set that thermostat. I'm going to go make an impact today. I'm going to go piss excellence like whatever it is for the day. And it doesn't have to be huge and crazy. Yeah, yeah. And I think it's Stephen Covey, the seven habits guy. So I'm not taking full credit for this. But he words it really powerfully. He's like, there's a lot of people that are climbing ladders, right? just because we've been conditioned our whole lives to climb ladders, right, to move ahead. And, and check boxes, but he's like, dude, the latter you're climbing doesn't mean, like it doesn't matter how high you climb on the ladder, if it takes you to where you don't wanna be, right? If it's leaning against the wrong wall, it's up against the wrong building, like, yeah, you can climb all day, you can watch all the videos and go to all the seminars and do all the work and make all the money, you can do all these things, but if you're just blind just climbing rungs because you get these, it feels good and you get a dopamine hit to accomplish something, you're gonna wake up, man, five years from now, 10 years from now, I'll be like, I just climbed all way high up in the wrong fucking direction. - Right, dude, I'm sure you get people like that. I get people like that and I'm so happy to say that the age is going down, not to say that those older people aren't still there, but since I started doing this work, I get a lot of people that are in their 60s that are looking for a restart, they're like, all right, I just retired. And, yep, guess who's not fulfilled? I wanna do some purposeful things, and it's like, all right, it's never too late. - It happened to me, it happened to me, man. I, before doing this type of coaching, I've always been a very strong proponent for the transformative power of fitness and physical movement, simply because, you know, when I lost my mom to breast cancer, and I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, like working out was the one thing, the one thing that just like made the whole thing bearable. It really kept me afloat, and so, you know, that always drew me to fitness, and I was like, okay, fitness is my purpose, and I love this. But dude, I got sucked into the trap. I started an online fitness coaching business, and I got wrapped up, and again, like, in, oh, the, like, once I'm a six-figure fitness entrepreneur, then I'm gonna feel fulfilled and happy. You know, once I'm a digital nomad, and I'm living in Hawaii, I'll, you know, then I'll be fulfilled and super happy, and nothing will be missing, right? And I really did start to just, went on this mission of just checking boxes, and just, I woke up one day, and yeah, just, you know, I used the word alignment all the time, like, it just wasn't me, you know what I mean? Like, you know, all the things that I was taught would really bring me fulfillment and happiness. Dude, once the box was checked, and the dopamine hit wore off, I was very unhappy, and a lot of the depression symptoms started to come back. And that's when I really went back into the lab, right? And I was like, okay, what am I afraid of saying? And it was speaking about this. It was speaking about fear, you're speaking about behavioral transition, and speaking about throwing aside the bullshit and stepping towards your purpose, right? Like, it was all about these things, that was, and I was like, okay, if that's what the fear is telling me not to do, like, I'm gonna get a little cheeky and go all in on doing the opposite, right? And like, right, 'cause when the world says don't do that, something inside you says, oh, shove off, here we go. Yeah, yeah, and so it's worked out beautifully, but yeah, like back to the original point, we were, you know, you know, I just, you know, we're talking about, right? Like, we were taught it's enough to just, you know, kind of keep your head down, check the boxes, and, you know, be grateful for what you have, and like, I'm a big proponent of gratitude, but like, no, like we are, we come equipped, fully equipped with an internal GPS that knows who we are, where we're supposed to be, what lights us up, and we've just been taught to censor that and water that down, and that's a recipe for just, yeah, waking up when you're 65 or 70, it'd be in like, I fuck this whole thing up, you know what I mean? Like, yeah. So it's, yeah, it's, whether, you know, it's really drowning out the noise, so you can actually take action on that energy PS, and that's where the magic happens. - Hmm. Dude, that's so much that I wanna go into, because I know that a lot of the listeners here are looking to build that and know my life, and they're trying to like, yeah, like the laptop lifestyle, I wanna go to these resorts and go to this, go to that, but really, it is that intentional, purposeful work for you, because I'll tell you right now, a monkey can run Facebook ads and cell phone cases, and you'll make six figures a year without a doubt. - Yeah. - But is it gonna be fulfilling? Are you gonna have that big R word that nobody wants, and look back at your life and suddenly say, well shit, all this regrets kind of hanging around now? - Yeah. - I don't have time to go back. - Yeah, yeah, and I'm not saying like, ditch, you know, ditch that goal, like, no, it would like, - No, no, no, no, no. - You know, it's great to travel and have that type of freedom and all that, but I'm saying like, yeah, when that's the, when that's the carrot, right? That you're dangling in front of yourself, like, don't get there. And pretty soon, you'll find yourself running ragged, looking for another carrot to chase, because it doesn't fill you up. It's pouring water into a cup with a hole in the bottle. It's like, you're just gonna need more water. You're just gonna need more water. You're never gonna get that feeling where it has, you know, right now, I can wake up, and I can, you know, I'm not flying private jets or driving lambos, right? But like, I don't really give a shit about that stuff. But I do, every single day, do work that I care about. And I get to see the direct result of me utilizing my gifts fully to enhance somebody else's ability to do the exact same thing. - Dude, that's beautiful. So beautiful. I'm gonna put you on the spot real quick. - Yeah. - What would you think, or what would you say is the difference between alignment and achievement? - Yeah, so achievement is getting from point A to point B. Right, achievement is being doing or having something that you have not yet been done or had. Right, like, you've achieved it, great. Alignment is when, and they're not mutually exclusive, but alignment is, it's one of those things, man, it's hard to verbalize very, very precisely because it's one of those, like I said, internal GPS, it's one of those things. - Yeah, that's that feeling. - It just, no, you just know. And like, sometimes you can, you know, you can, we say we have a set of values, right? Like, integrity and purpose and connection, right? Like, we have values, but alignment is this, it's this feeling your heart gets when, man, you, you, you serve someone in a specific way or you, or you read something and you get, like, dude, like, when you connect with someone, like you, right? Like, you get this, you get this feedback. And dude, I remember that freaking first call, yes. - Oh, dude, we should have recorded that. Could have, could have, could have, - Before that, even before that, dude, I wish I could read those messages that you and I were sending on Facebook, like literally out in the public. - Yeah, yeah, but, but no, but I, like, I think it was maybe a year and a half ago. Like, I, I was on a call with, I was on a call with a client and, and she was just like, she was like, I, something happened. I was in the gym, 'cause I, all my clients have to do a customized fitness program. It's just not negotiable, right? I build it and she's like, for the first time in my entire adult life, like, I looked around and just nothing was missing. Like, that was the first time in my life. I had felt complete with no conditions. And a week later, she met with her doctor and transitioned off of her antidepressants. Like, and I literally like, it was a Skype call, or not Skype, 'cause I hate Skype, it was Zoom. (laughing) Like, I was crying. I was crying and again, because like, that was like, my heart was just like, this is exactly why you're on this earth. This feeling feels pretty good, doesn't it? Like, remember this and do more of this. Like, that's what my soul was saying to me, right? Like, but yeah, like, that's alignment. Alignment is that, is that, is that feeling you get where like, nothing is missing, right? Like, so when you are working towards it, or you are, you know, experiencing it, right? Like, it's like, that's, that's deep, that deep completeness is alignment, right? And that can come from achievement, or that can come from, you may wake up tomorrow and look outside in beautiful South Carolina and look at your daughter and look at your wife, and that's alignment, right? Like, that feeling of complete, which has nothing to really do with achievement. Now, the sweet spot is, when your achievements point in the same direction as what you're aligned with. Like, that's the sweet spot. - Man, I'm gonna have to start answering on harder questions. (laughing) You're just, you're just for a concussion, man. And it's exactly what, I think, I don't know, have you talked about that story with the guy of publics offering to work with you? 'Cause I think that is, it's easy to talk all day about alignment, but like, dude, when you told me that story and he, like, what he offered you monthly, like, that is the embodiment of standing in alignment. I don't think I've shared it. I just share it with your people, man, because it is bonkers. You've got to hear this story, people. Yeah. So when I first got started into this purposeful work, I was 22, had a baby on the way, about $250,000 in debt, and the song that my soul was singing was service. I wanted to go help people. And I had learned how to self-help and educate myself and the power of the mind and dug about as far as you can go into neuroscience and was doing all of these self-studies. I was literally walking around with the heart rate variability and an at-home EEG, just so I could see what my brain was doing on daily tasks so I could see triggers. And I've been doing this for about three months. And at the end of it, somebody was like, well, you should go do this professionally, become a consultant. And I was like, I don't even know what the word consultant means. So I went home, typed it in, consulted, like, those speaks at companies and like, in powers and educates, I was like, that sounds like me. I'm becoming a doctor and doctor really means at the end of the day to teach, to be a teacher. So well, minds will start living that now. I didn't know professional etiquette was to go drop off a resume. So I literally went into the public's headquarters that was in the city that I was living in at the time and said, hey, my name's Chris. I bet I can come in and make your productivity go up by at least 200%. What do you say? And I was talking to the secretary and she just looked at me and she said, are you serious? And I was like, yeah, and she's like, well, let me go get the manager. So she got the manager and the manager came and spoke to me. I just dropped all this knowledge on him. He said, let me go get the COO. And he's like, OK, we're going to bring the board in. So how much do you cost to do this? Like nobody's ever coming and asked us to do this before. And I said, you know, I have no idea. I guess I'll do it for free. And they were like, but sure, yeah, because I had no idea what the value of this was. So I go through, end up crushing this presentation. First, when I ever did three hours straight of just neuroscience, this is what your brain's doing. Here's what we wanted to do. You do this. You do this. We do it. I brought a couple of people up on stage, hooked them to heart rate verabilities. And you know, my little at-home EEG. And I was like, OK, I'm going to stress you out. And I was clapping really around your ears, blah, blah, blah, long story short. They had these transformational moments. And I could say to them, if you do this on a daily basis, four days in a row, it'll start to begin to change the neurochemistry. Do it for 10 days in a row. Your brain starts to gain new awareness. Do it for 21 suddenly. You make new neural pathways. Do it for 60 days straight. Suddenly you have a brand new brain. You can do this and prove the immune system. All of this get done and say, I'm going to come back in three months. And I'm going to collect data. Done all of this for free, 21 years old. And the CEO of this company, of the branch of that company-- I guess not the CEO of Publix-- but the owner of that branch of Publix and the South Eastern United States came to me and said, will you be my personal coach? And I just looked at him and I was like, what? Will you play baseball? Or like, I honestly genuinely did not know with this deal. I met him. He's like, no, no, no. I want you to get on calls with me. And do you have an online program? And I was like, I don't have any of that. And he's like, I don't care. I want you to weekly calls with you. And I'll give you $25,000 per quarter to do this with me if I like it for the first quarter, $25,000. I'd never even heard of that kind of money. Us 22 years old freak it out about money. And this dude offered me 25K. And I was just sitting there. And I was like, let's, can we talk about this? Because I just got down the presentation. I'm tired. So he and I go sit down in this and I asked him, so what is your purpose? Why do you want this information? And he sat there and he's like, this is going to make sales and statistics go through the roof. I'm going to be able to see and read other people at a higher caliper, knowing their line, knowing their telling the truth, be able to do that. And inside of me, I'm going to feel better about this company because it's going to be growing financially. And I looked him dead in the eye and said, I can't do this. I'm not your guy. Your purpose does not align with my purpose. And this is a dude that has never, I'm assuming, has never had no said to him. - He did a lot of nose, yeah. - And this 22 year old kid, he just like wrote me a $25,000 check and I said no. And I walked out and that was dude. Now is the start of like, okay, this is principles. And I don't tell that story a lot of the time because people are just like, you are freaking crazy. You gotta have capital to start a company. And I'm like, maybe, but man, if you don't have the right purpose, if you're not doing this from a sole level, like you're not doing this right. - Yeah, yeah man. And again, look at all that fearless action. As a 21 year old kid, unprompted, uncelicity going into headquarters and being like, working your way up the ladder, talking to the entire team, right? Like, fearless action is rewarded, stepping into the unknown to bring your gifts to people that don't have it yet gets rewarded. Whether it's opportunistic or financial or just that feeling of fulfillment and alignment, right? Like, I think you'll agree. Purpose driven fearless action, always, always, always, always, always, always results in something good. - Oh, always. - Without a doubt, yeah. And at the time, I had no idea, like this lady was asking me for business cards and I had like literally index cards in my backpack that I brought in there. I was like, where in like, I don't wanna say non-professional clothes, but like, I just got done with like 16 hours worth of class. - Yeah. - So really wasn't, sound a little up to it, but like, they could feel it when I went in there 'cause I worked on my passion so much that I was so present with myself that they knew that I was the real deal. And I'm not saying this to Tudai or Horn, I'm saying that if you put the work in and drive from your purpose, from an intention, from a space inside of yourself, that only you know and sing that song that only you can sing, the world will open up to you if you are brave enough to step into it. - Oh yeah, dude, 100%. I just wanted, I wanted you to tell that story because again, we can talk about alignment and purpose all day, but like, walking the walks a whole other story, especially when there's money on the line. So I think it's just, I'm gonna go further, one step further, 'cause I don't think I told you this portion of the story. So after I turned that down, I didn't take any other consulting jobs for a little bit because that was a lucky gig. So I'm studying for one of my boards in school and I'm at a waffle house at 2 a.m. and a gentleman pulls up, I kid you not, and I've shared this story a little bit more publicly than I have the other one. A gentleman pulls up in a P1 McLaren. There's like four of those in the United States. For people that don't know, it's like an $800,000 car off the line, not considering the prior bids that you put into it. This dude comes in with gene shorts and looks like he's like, I don't wanna say homeless, but he's definitely not driving on McLaren. Comes over because he and I are the only two people there at that time of night and sits down and asks if he can have a conversation with me. And this dude proceeds to just like, what's your purpose? And it's like, I kid you not. This dude asked me, what is your purpose here? What are you doing? And I straight up told him, I'm like, this is me. I'm becoming a doctor, I'm studying for my boards right now. I have a child on the way, I'm just trying to figure out life, but I know if I continue down this direction of service to others, finding and reclaiming their own neurology and their own brain, that goodness and greatness is gonna come out of it. And this dude just started spilling his guts out about how he became so successful and his daily rituals and his daily habits and I was explaining to him like some of the neuroscience of it. And me and this dude talked for like two hours and I was like, just taking all of this in, he took off, made me pay for his bill. And I said, if we need to meet again, I need you to create that situation. And then I'm left. Didn't get his name, didn't get any information, have no idea who this dude is. He just took off. - That's like fairy godmother stuff, right? - Right, it was crazy. Like I know I came back and like told Daniel that and she was like, wait, what? Like are you serious? And I was like, yeah, yeah, I have no idea. Like this dude must have been lost to have something like that. But it just shows like incredible things happen when you step into your greatness, when you have the bravery to really lean into it and see what comes of it. Like you get rewarded for that. - Yeah, yeah man, 100%. And just even us linking up, right? Like all I did was put a post in a group, right? Like-- - Seriously, yeah. Like where are the chances that like you and I have such alignment? - Yeah, yeah. So, 'cause I do, I know a lot of people out there they're kind of like, they feel like their tires are in the mud. They're like life is stagnant. There's no new opportunity coming in, right? Like life feels stale and heavy. And again, into that person, like I totally feel you. I totally resonate with you. And your brain wants you to think that that's where you belong. But just take inventory, like where in your life? Like how, again, like where are you taking a little fearless action, right? Like where are you going to be? Where are you letting the voice of purpose out way the voice of fear? And when people are stuck, when people are in these fulks, right? And again, I've been depressed clinically, depressed. I know fulks can turn dark very quickly. But when I can get my head above water in those dark times, I really, truly look and I go, yeah, where is this happening? Where am I letting fear win? Where? What am I not saying? I know deep, deep, deep down, I want to do and say. And when I get the courage to finally lean into that, the floodgates of opportunity open and it feels, life feels good again. You know what I mean? So, you know, I talk about this internal GPS of purpose and, you know, our intuition, our instinct and all that. But I truly believe that, again, fear is part of that internal GPS and it, you know, it can be used as a benevolent guide. It really can't. Yeah, without a doubt, the big thing that we say in, you know, in my tribe a lot is that belief drives behavior. Yeah. If you believe you can't do it, guess what? You can't do it. But if you can find purpose and believe in yourself because you know you are the creator of your universe, good news. The world's going to open up because your behavior is now going to reflect your beliefs. And when that's in a possibility space instead of a fear and it's limiting and suddenly it's unlimited, now it's just a matter of, well, what do I want to do? Because now I feel so empowered. But it's not that you've been disempowered. The power's been there all the time. You've just been re-robbing it around to survival. And now it's time to thrive. Yeah. Yeah. And the, like a cool visual for this is, and I tell people this all the time, I'm like, at all times it's like you're sitting in a restaurant and there's a waiter or a waitress there. And you can have anything you want on the menu, anything. But because of how we're conditioned growing up and because of some of the self-preservation mechanisms we have, we think we have to order from the part of the, like the shitty part of the menu. And though, yeah. But here's the thing like the universe, right? Like quantum physics, the law of attraction, like it's all coming together now as scientifically validated, right? Yeah. Like you can order anything you want. And like it will find you. Energetically, it will find its way into your experience for you to interact with it. And it's just so many people have just been on autopilot ordering from the bad part of the menu because they think that's all that they're entitled to. And so just kind of like what you're saying and similar to what I'm saying because I truly believe as well, like limitation is learned. We come into this world, we don't have a bunch of baggage and self-criticism and self-doubt. And you know, like we're actually pretty fearless when we come into this world. Like we want to learn how to walk. Cool. We'll fall as many times as it takes, but we'll walk, right? Like, and we won't care how dumb we look in the process, right? Like we're bored, actually, pretty fearless. And then a lot of the limitation and the self-censorship is learned along the way. But yeah, if like our thoughts, our beliefs, our emotional states that we're in most often, that's how we order from the menu. And if you can elevate your thoughts and elevate your beliefs and elevate your emotional states that you're in most often, get the filet, get the bootable, get like the, get the bootable, get the, you know, for all the vegetarians out there, get the, get the GMO free, whatever, right? Like you can have truly be, you can truly have and be what you want. But just like putting a man on the moon, right? Like your brain's got to go there first. If you don't give your, if you don't give your brain permission to start living and living in a, in a better potential or a better future, like, yeah, no, shot, you'll get there. Like it won't happen. It won't just fall out of the sky. But yeah, start to, start to think about it, start to believe it, start to challenge the things that say you can't. They don't have, they're like, there's not a lot of solid foundation there. When we start to really start to poke holes in the limitations, right? Like they look like brick walls. But when you walk up to them and poke them, dude, cardboard, they were born, right? They will, they will fall over. Dude, that's, that's spot on. I hope people take that message like so. I hope you, you guys take all of this so deeply to heart. Lisa Nichols has this quote that says you have to train the world how you want them to see you. And that starts with how do you see yourself in the silence of your own mind when everything is pushed aside? Who's talking? What's talking? How are they talking? Because that's how the world is seeing you. It's how you see yourself. That is your mere reality. Yeah, yeah, 100%. And you know, if we're talking metaphors, right? Like if you want to, when you open your eyes and you look out on, on your life, like your circumstances, right? Like think about just like watching a movie, right? Like that's our circumstances is, you know, like our life is simply just the result of our thoughts, our beliefs, our actions and our reactions just projected onto a screen. And so many people like, if they don't like the movie, you know, some people are just like, well, this sucks. This is my movie. And then other people, they try to like tear the screen down, right? They try to like fight the screen, right? They try to, they try to really fight circumstances and really white knuckle change. But again, you can tear the screen down. What's being projected is still going to be there. Like, dude, you have the key. Go up to the projector booth and change what you're feeding the projector, right? Change the thought. You can get up and change. Yeah, yeah, you can feed it. Different thoughts and different beliefs and different emotional states and different actions. And you can draw different boundaries and then honor those boundaries with action. And yeah, when you change up the film, you're like, you're going to love what you see projected. Yeah. Man, that's, that's so stellar. And I think the simplicity and the beauty of this is that it starts with you. Yeah. It starts with the small things. It's not going to be profound. The clouds are going to part. There's not going to be like, you know, Beyonce coming down singing Halo. It's you getting clear in meditation. It's journaling every day. It's truly those small habits like Tony Robbins murdered it. Like, your habits are you. That's it. It's plain and simple. And if you can change your mind and your mind makes up your reality, the moment you change your mind, your reality changes. Yeah. Yeah. That's one of the biggest shifts that happened for me internally. And that's the, you know, at the core of the transformations that I work on with my clients and my groups is, is that shift of cause versus effect and understanding that our thoughts, our brains are creative, right? This is the exact same thing you and I've been saying just in a different way, right? But yes, our thoughts, our beliefs, our energetic state, our emotional state determine our reality. And but what so many people, they live this reactive life. I was one of them. So I'm not, I'm not growing shade, right? Like I was one of them. But like, if good things happen to me, I thought, oh, cool. Like, the gods are favoring me today, but tomorrow is probably going to suck. And then if bad things happen, it was the, hello is me. Other people have a better. And I was consistently attaching my emotional state to these effects, to these circumstances, not knowing that I was the cause, right? And so once you start to accept, like, yeah, it stings a little bit because you have to take a little ownership for the things that aren't that desirable in your life, but then rejoice because it's up to you. Like, how great is this? Like you came to this earth, you were created as a creator, a limitless creator. And literally, I remember. I was reading a book called The Power in You. And it's, it's a collection of Thomas Troward's essays. And it is bonkers. Like, if anybody's bold enough to read it, like, show a little patience to yourself in the book. Like, dude, send me some titles. I need that. I've literally, I've read thousands of books. I've not heard of it. Dude, it is just magnificently, beautifully, crazily makes the most sense I've ever, ever read. Like it is just, but he, the way he works, he's got to be. Here's it. It's, man, it's, it's basically like this, like this substance, right? Like the substance that permeates everything, like the universe or God or spirit or, or subatomic quanta, if you want to go the scientific route, right? Like, there's stuff that permeates everything. And it's always in a constant state of flux. So if you look at parts of your life that you don't like and you hold those in your attention, you're literally taking the part of your life that wants to change and you're holding it in place. Yep. We're in. Yes, the observer effect. Yeah, yeah. Whereas if you can just hold in your mind elevated thoughts of yourself, even if they, even if you don't have the physical proof yet, even if you don't have the physical evidence yet, but you start acting as if and you start making decisions as if and you start talking to yourself as if and you start showing love to yourself as if you are what you want to be already. Yeah. In the world, the universe has no choice but to fall in line, right? The movie has no choice but to change into the exact scene that you've been begging to see. Hmm. I, I hope people can grasp what he just said and how important that is because it's, it's not these external circumstances that you're looking for to change. It's you and the moment that you can have that realization and their science that supports this all day long, all week long and it's going to continue to come out the moment. that you change your perspective and change your lens, the world will mirror that because you are now training the world that you have a new bandwidth. And when you change that internal self, that internal self chatter, it will show you the possibilities that you're looking for. Yeah. And again, like, I am not claiming to be like the most well spoken explainer of this because it is esoteric and it's kind of loose, right? It's kind of fluid. So it's really hard to just wrangle down and explain plainly. But yeah, we're the cause. We're the cause. And that's the best news you could ever have because you're not put here to settle. You're not put here to get by. You're not put here to endure a life that doesn't feel good to you. Everything you want to change about your life, you can't. And I'm not saying that from a motivational guru, like, I'm saying at a quantum scientific level, like you do call the shots. Your thoughts are creative. You are in the driver's seat. And I can't like, that's the main point. I hope you get from this conversation is like, for sure, this is your life. And I truly mean that. And this is your story. And you write it. And this is, and this is your masterpiece. Like go write it every day. Go, go live it every day. And if anybody wants more science on that, I made a 20 minute video that breaks down quantum mechanics and how upspin and downspin creates your observer effect in reality. It's called the science of you. It's on YouTube. Get a journal out and maybe some altering substances. I'll be checking that out. It's a saddle up one. Yeah. Yeah. That's incredible. That's incredible. And but that's the thing, right? All this happens beyond the five senses. Right. And so we've been taught if we can't see it, feel it, touch it, taste it, hear it, whatever, it's not real. Oh, that's not true. That is so true. So again, right? Like, I can wake up every single day. And again, I've been there. So I'm not calling anybody out, but I've been there where just I was just expecting the worst. And then when the worst showed up, I got to be right. And an incredible shift happened to me personally, relationally, lifestyle, the financially even, right? Like when I just woke up and started to expect the best amazing stuff started showing up. Right? Like yeah, because you're expecting it. Yeah. Just naturally happens. And then it's never a surprise, right? Yeah. Because it's just naturally there. Yeah. Yeah. I had a, I had a client who, and he's a musician. And for the longest time, he, his, his energy, PS was like release music under your own name. And he's like, that's too risky. And so right now in LA, like the big thing to do is called sync music. So you know, you create beats and then it gets licensed. And then you make like 10 cents every time it's played, right? And so like it's a very, I don't want to say a safe route to go, but like you don't have to get very vulnerable as an artist. And so he was like, but like, dude, my, my gut, my intuition keeps telling me to release music on my own, release music on my own. And I was like, dude, by the end of next week, like those three songs that you have halfway finished, like you're going to finish them and release them. He's like, okay, fast forward. He releases them. Someone hears him and he gets invited onto a show called Songland, which it's airing on NBC, like it's nationally televised, right? So he goes onto the recording of Songland and meets, you know, who Al O'Black is. Yeah. I'm the man. I'm the man. Yeah. Meet Al O'Black. My client gets up in sings. Everyone loves it. Al O'Black just falls to the floor. Love it. At the end of the show, he doesn't get picked. And he's kind of bummed out. Al O'Black runs up to him after a show. He goes, dude, the best thing that happened is you're not getting picked. Because the winner of the show, their song got licensed. And like Paramount was going to use the song for the new Fast and Furious Rock movie. And basically, the winner would have gotten screwed out of a lot of the licensing and money. So he's like, dude, it's actually better that you didn't win. Here's my number. I want you to come to my house. And we're going to collab and create an album together. And I want you to be the official musical consultant on that album. Get out of here. Yeah. So like, again, I'm not measuring it in dollars and cents. For the two days without Al O'Black, he made 80K. 80K in two days, right? That's not so bad. Yeah. That's not so bad, right? Yeah. That'd be okay. I mean, it's yeah. Sorry. Yeah. Why? Because he wanted to use his music sofully to heal. And he wasn't doing that by creating sink beats. And so when he went all in on it, and he took fearless action, and he, you know, with the purpose of helping and serving others, like, yeah, that goodness comes right back to you in the most amazing fortuitous, synchronic ways. And the whole time he was doing it, and I was like, dude, just expect it to go well. Just expect it to go well. Even if it doesn't go according to the script, expect it to go well. And yeah, when he didn't get picked for the show, he's like, oh, but I remember to keep expecting it to go well. And then that's when Al O'Black, like blindsided, and was like, we got to work together. Dude, that's beautiful. Pretty sweet, right? Yeah. And it's like, it's stories like that that people often point to finger at and say, that's unbelievable. And that's where I go, whoa. Oh, yeah, it is. There's no way that the universe should have aligned up like that. But because he had created the expectation for things to go well, they went great. Yeah. But they didn't go according to a script. He went exactly that show thinking, I got a win this show. And then you know what I mean? And I was like, dude, ditch the script a little bit, right? Yeah. Up the trust and ditch the script. And then boom, all that stuff happened. Up the trust, ditch the script. New tattoo on my ribs right there. The script is typically limited anyway. We usually lowball it with our own script anyway. For sure, because you're just creating out of a possibility of the paradigms you already have. Yeah. Yeah. Open up to like the emotion of it. Suddenly the world says, well, you've never had this before. Once you try this on, here's a couple hundred thousand dollars. Like this could be fun. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Like so it's it's it's it's just expecting differently. Right? Most people do wake up and they're like, shit, here we go again. Here goes another day, right? Right. Here goes more of the same. And it's like, oh, by thinking that you're guaranteeing that today is going to look just like yesterday, right? Like yeah, your copy and pasting your copying and pasting the past into the future. And it doesn't have to be like that. Not even close. So beautifully said. Brother, as we start to wrap up here, what would be one piece of knowledge, intention, wisdom that you could share with our tribe that would help them today create a better life tomorrow? Yeah. Yeah. I would it would really be to start leveraging the feedback you're getting from your body. I think a lot of people in your mind, but a lot of people, right? When when we feel anxiety or when we feel fear when we feel self-doubt or depression, we typically label ourselves as broken and then try to escape that pain or escape that discomfort. I challenge you to start looking at that feedback as like again, like if a Jeep, if you took a wrong turn and the GPS told you, okay, well, hey, you missed that turn. We got to pull a Huey up here, right? Like start to view the feedback you're getting emotionally as feedback, not as a burden or or or something to be ashamed of. Because if you're anxious, great, slow down, write it down. What are the things that are causing you this, the stress in this fear? Oz, are there something you've been avoiding that you really do need to get back in alignment or address head-on and that's really a lot of the time what anxiety can be. If you are feeling depressed and I'm not trying to minimize clinical depression because again, I've been there, but like again, like you're getting feedback from your inner self. What is missing? What is out of alignment? What are you not doing? What are you not saying? What change that speaks your heart? Are you suppressing and start to use these powerful emotions that we've been taught to label as disease and run away from, start to approach them with, hey, maybe there's feedback here. Maybe this isn't happening at me, but this is happening for me and it's trying to nudge me where I've always should have been. Man, just blow in my socks off and I don't even have socks on anyways. Is that beautiful lifestyle, man? David, I'm telling you, living on the beach is just making me soft and fluffy. That's how you need some of that in my life. Summary:

FAQs

The Fearless Life Project is a coaching platform that helps people remove fear-based limitations from their lives so they can take action freely and consistently on what they truly want.

Julian explains that in modern society, fear is a response to uncertainty and discomfort, not physical threats. It signals that you are stepping into change, which the brain perceives as dangerous.

The key is to educate yourself about fear, recognize it as an optional invitation to stay limited, and then take action in spite of it. This rewires your brain through neuroplasticity, making you more fearless over time.

A morning routine like the 'Fearless Five'—including meditation, gratitude journaling, and intention setting—helps you start the day with self-awareness, so you are empowered to identify and act against fear rather than living on autopilot.

Fear often shows up as negative narratives, self-doubt, overthinking, and replaying past failures. It uses these stories to invite you back into your limitations.

He means that feeling stuck or doubtful isn't a sign of being flawed; it's a sign that your internal patterns need updating. With education and new strategies, you can upgrade your mindset.
