Jesus Christ Our Ultimate Sacrifice

This sermon explores Jesus Christ as the ultimate sacrifice, connecting His birth at Christmas to His sacrificial death at Easter. The preacher explains that the shepherds who received the angelic announcement were specialized rabbinical shepherds who prepared unblemished lambs for temple sacrifices, and the sign of baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling cloths in a manger identified Him as the Lamb of God destined for sacrifice. The sermon details Jesus's willing submission throughout His arrest, trial, and crucifixion. When soldiers came to arrest Him, Jesus declared "I AM" and they fell backward like corpses, demonstrating His divine authority. Yet He chose not to defend Himself before Pilate, fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy of the silent lamb. He endured spitting, beating, and humiliation from religious leaders, political authorities, and military personnel. The preacher emphasizes that Jesus refused painkiller-laced wine to bear the full penalty of sin without reduction, but later drank sour wine to fulfill Scripture and redeem humanity from generational curses. Jesus fulfilled all five Old Testament offerings: the sin offering (taking our judgment), the burnt offering (giving us His righteousness), the peace offering, and the trespass offering (restoring what was lost). Finally, the sermon explains that Jesus shed His blood in seven places, each with redemptive significance. Because He exhausted God's wrath, God has sworn never to be angry with or condemn believers. Sin has been judged and rendered powerless, and believers can now live in victory, restoration, and intimate fellowship with God.

Speaker 1Father, we are grateful, thank you for the opportunity to celebrate the Lamb of God and for the great work you've done that has affected time and eternity. And tonight, we receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation. Send your light, send your truth. Open our eyes to see the glories and the wonders of our Lord. God give us, grant us illumination and understanding into all that he did for us. The word says, we all with an unveiled face behold him, as in the mirror, the glory of God, we are changed, transformed into the same image from glory to glory. And that is our story tonight. In Jesus' name, bless the Holy Spirit, have your way and take for eminence. In Jesus' name, the Son of God, amen. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. All right. Christ. the ultimate sacrifice. So I'm speaking on Jesus Christ, the ultimate sacrifice. Hallelujah. Turn with me to the book of Luke, chapter 2. Luke, chapter 2. Jesus Christ, the ultimate sacrifice. Luke, chapter 2. And I want us to read from verse 8 to verse 12. King James Version, please. Here
Speaker 2we
Speaker 1can just King James Version. Yeah. This is NLC. All right. Okay. And the word is the same country, shepherds, abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone round about them and they were so afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be unto all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ, the Lord. That's all. And this shall be a sign unto you. Ye shall find the baby wrapped in swaddling cloth, lying in the manger. Hallelujah. Praise God. Christ, the ultimate sacrifice. Now, this verse, of course, this verse is Christmas verse. What has it got to do with Easter? But understand that the reason for Christmas is Easter. The reason for Christmas is Easter. Okay. So when our Lord Jesus was born, the Bible tells us the story and we know the story that there were shepherds who were keeping over the flock or watching the flock. And the angel of the Lord appeared and announced to them the birth of the Savior and told them that in the city of David, Bethlehem, the Savior was born. Now, understand that these shepherds were not ordinary shepherds. Now, these shepherds were special shepherds. In fact, they were called rabbinical shepherds. What they did was that they were those responsible for preparing the flock, the lambs, for temple sacrifices. You can't just take any ordinary animal to the temple to make a sacrifice. They were specifications according to the law. The lamb must be without blemish. So these shepherds were specialized in preparing special lambs for the temple sacrifices. Hallelujah. And where they were keeping the flock was close to the temple. Now, Josephus, the historian, tells us that during Passover, as many as 260,000 lambs were sacrificed in the temple. 260,000. Now, all these lambs were prepared by these shepherds. So these were special priestly shepherds who were assigned to prepare special lambs that were fit for the sacrifices. Praise God. So the angel appeared unto them, announcing that Jesus, the Messiah, was born. But the angel said, this shall be a sign to you. To you, to the shepherds. The sign was understood by the shepherds. Now, this was the tradition in those days. Now, when a lamb was born, the manger in those days is different from the manger of today. Today, and sometimes in Jesus' movies, we see a wooden manger. But it wasn't wooden at all. The manger in those days was stone. It was carved out of the cave. Limestone. And the mangers were like feeding troughs for animals to eat. And this was what happened. If a lamb was born, if a lamb was born, the shepherds would take the lambs and they would put the lambs in the manger. And when they put the lambs in the manger, then the priest would come to examine the lamb, whether it is fit for the sacrifice, whether it is without blemish, because by qualification it must be without blemish. Without blemish means that one eye shouldn't be blind, one leg shouldn't be crooked. God doesn't accept such sacrifices. So, if they put the lamb in the manger, the priest would examine it whether it is without blemish and whether it is fit for the sacrifice. When it is fit for the sacrifice, they would take a special cloth called a swaddling cloth to cover it. And this swaddling cloth was on strips like bandages so they would cover the necks, they would cover the lamb to avoid lacerations so that the lamb can be preserved perfect for the sacrifice. So, if you see a lamb covered with swaddling cloth, it means it is already prepared and fit for the sacrifice. And where did they examine the lamb? In the manger. So, whenever you see a lamb in the manger covered with a swaddling cloth, it has been examined, it is without blemish, it is fit for the sacrifice. Now, the angel announced to the shepherd, look at verse 12 again. Look at verse 12. He said, this shall be a sign to you. Something the way to understand. This shall be a sign unto you. Verse 12 again. Verse 12. You shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloth lying in the manger but in this way. So, this time around they got by the grace of God they found the manger and in the manger wasn't a lamb. It was a baby. Then the lambs were wrapped with swaddling cloth because they had been examined and they were fit for the sacrifice. But this time around it was a baby and the swaddling cloth was wrapped around the baby. This shall be a sign to you. What does it mean? That baby is the lamb of God. The lamb of God. The lamb of God. That means this baby is supposed to be the ultimate sacrifice. So, they knew by what the angel said the baby is wrapped in a swaddling cloth. This baby is without spot, without blanch ready for the sacrifice. So, the reason he was born was for his death. So, he was born to die. He was identified with death in his belly. No wonder John the Baptist announced in John 1.29 the next day John seeth Jesus coming seeth unto him behold the lamb of God taketh away the sons of the world. The Bible says and all that dwells upon the earth shall worship him whose names are not written in the book of the lamb of God slain from the foundations of the world. Revelation 13 states he is called the lamb of God. He came to die. 1 Peter chapter 1 verse 19 and 20 describe Jesus as the lamb of God. Teach hallelujah he's a lamb without spot and without blemish And the Bible says that Paul was ordained before the foundations of the world, but was manifest to us in his last days. So the reason he came was to die. So at birth, he was identified with his death to be a sacrifice. Because he was in a manger and he was wrapped in a clothing cloth, which was how the lambs were taken care of in those days. Hallelujah. Now, the reason Jesus was born is in Hebrews chapter 10, from verse 5 to verse 7. Hebrews chapter 10. This was the reason Jesus was born. Wherefore, when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body thou hast prepared me. What was the reason why Jesus came? He is God manifest in the flesh. What is the reason why he came in a human body? For a reason. As a replacement of the Old Testament sacrifices. To be the ultimate sacrifice. That is why God gave him a body. Now, verse 6. In bent offerings and sacrifices for some, thou hast had no pleasure. Verse 7. Then said I, lo, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of me, to do thy will, O God. So he came to do God's will. God's will. What was God's will? He took away the first that he might establish as a king. so he said if it were possible let us pass me by it wasn't the first cast of friends it was he going to take and become sin he didn't become a sinner the Bible says he was made some so you can just imagine he alone knew what he passed through but he said not to stand and not as I will but as that will so he wasn't willing just to die he was willing some people think Jesus many years ago I was doing evangelism on the streets somewhere in campus as a student and then some fast food school we're just shooting tracks and I met an old man the man said I told the man said he says it's coming soon the man took me aside about 17 years he said oh what you say as I said Jesus is coming soon we said oh why is he coming so all the bittings they beat him all the bittings they beat him he didn't regret he still want to come again no no no no why would he come all the bittings they received but Jesus gave himself willingly praise God let me show how willing he was John chapter 18 let's read from verse 3 John chapter 18 from verse 3 Judas now this is after Gethsemane actually in Gethsemane after the prayers Judas then having received a bound of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees coming theater with lanterns and torches and weapons now this was when Judas came to betray Jesus the Bible says he came with a bound of men now when you watch Jesus' movies it doesn't really some of the movies doesn't really do justice or dramatize vividly what Scripture really said because Judas in movies Judas came with about three or four soldiers but the Bible says he came with a bound of men now the word bound is the Greek word spira and spira among the Romans spira is one tenth of a legion now among Roman soldiers legion is six thousand one tenth of a legion is spira which is 600 so we are talking about a military court of 600 so now Judas came with 600 soldiers so the Bible says he received a bound of men and officers the word officers here hypateres is a word for police officers temple officers so just imagine what happened so we have about 600 soldiers plus police officers and the Bible says they came with lanterns and torches and weapons the word weapon here is the word for police officers and the Bible says they came with lanterns and torches and weapons the word weapon here is the word for police officers and the Bible says they came with lanterns and torches and weapons the word weapon here is the word for police officers and the Bible says they came with lanterns and torches and weapons the word weapon here is the word for the full Roman the full person of the Roman military so they went out so they came with their breastplate they came with their shoes their spikes they came with their weapons I don't know what you
Speaker 2just told him in the Judas know
Speaker 1how powerful Jesus is he might have told him so many things that the man is powerful there's so much he can do you have to be I'm well I'm sure there was so much he told them because we go for one mom and they had to come themselves this way that's amazing so all of this host between after Jesus the next place let's do this for this was therefore knowing all things that should come upon him went forth and said unto them whom seek he says accent from Siki that's fine they answered him Jesus of Nazareth Jesus said unto them I am he and Judas also which betrayed him stood with them now if you look into your Bible the word he is italics is in italics if you look into your mind it's not Alex it's a slanted the portions of the Bible that is italicized it's not part of the original manuscripts the way supplied by translated to make the English with the law and sometimes they can distort the meaning on this so if you check your Bible the he is in italics you have any version around that will give us the italics the he so little Jesus said when they said home city this is another business can I said I am I am here is the Greek word ego any which is the same way that is used in Exodus 3:14 when God told Moses I am that I am if the same when God told Moses I am so what he said I am nobody saying so I'm the God of Abraham the God of Isaac and the God he was unveiling his day to who he is because I am means I am Yahweh I am Jehovah the self-existent ever-existent so good I am good very God of every God praise God this is I am this the next place as soon as as soon then as he had said unto them I am they went backward and fell to the ground let me give you a dramatic description of what happened now don't don't think of three or four people falling down we are talking about the spirit 600 armed soldiers with the police officers and with the rest of the people Jesus said I am let me show how they fell down praise God now that's the way to fail to the ground when John saw Jesus that in the correlation John was taken in the spirit to heaven and he saw Jesus when he saw Jesus in John in Revelation 1:17 he said he fell down as dead in Revelation 1:17 John saw Jesus and fell as dead now the Greek word for fall to the ground is to fall like a corpse it's the same word used for John when he saw Jesus in his glory falling down as dead now he died, he fell as dead, and Jesus put his hands on him and raised him. It's the same word that was used to describe the soldiers. So when Jesus said, I am, the power of God swept all of them, and they were all slain. So you can imagine, all these soldiers, all these armed men on the floor, they were slain. Why? They fell like corpses. I'm sure they would say, yeah, yeah, yeah, Jesus told us, it must be true. They were all slain. Now listen, if Jesus wanted to run away, that was the best time for him to run. His captives were captivated. And he had to wait for them to rise up, clean themselves, take their weapons, and lead him away. He is Jesus. He is God. He can only be God. That's who he is. No one can arrest him. He'd get himself to be arrested. That's who Jesus is. My hallelujah. That's our Lord. He was in charge. He was in charge. Hallelujah. And from there, they led him to the house of Caiaphas. The high priest or the chief priest. Jesus suffered many things. Suffered many things. And in the house of Caiaphas, once that did it, that amazes me. Look at Matthew 26. Let's read 59 and 67. Matthew 26. Matthew 26. Verse 59. Now the chief priest and the elders and all the council. What matters is all the council. That's the Sanhedrin. There were 71 members. These were the leaders in Israel. The official Supreme Court. They made decisions for the nation. 71 members. So the chief priest, the elders and all the council sought false witnesses against Jesus to put him to death. Look at 67. 67. Then the day spits in his face. Another thing is, the moment we watch Jesus' movies, we see one or two people spitting on Jesus' face. That's not how it was. The Bible says that the Sanhedrin, the chief priest, the elders and the Sanhedrin, then the day, that's the context. That's why I made you read. 59. So you know how they did it? Jesus was standing there and they had a queue and they took turns to spit on him one by one. So Jesus is there and these guys will queue one by one beginning with the high priest. All the 71 members they spat on his face. It's a sign. Spitting on the face means extreme disdain. Social outcast. It means you are worthless. You are an outcast. So the religious body rejected Jesus. I gave my back to the smiters and my cheek to them that pulled off the hair. I hid not my face from shame and spitting. Isaiah 50 verse 6. That means, when they were spitting, I thought Jesus was going to do this. But Isaiah prophesied 700 years before that. He said, I hid not my face. So they were spitting and he didn't hide his face. They were spitting on his face while he was bearing your shame. The reproaches of them that reproached me have fallen on you. That's what Jesus did. He didn't hide his face. So there was religious spitting and political spitting. Now later on after they went to Pilate's court, the military also spat on him. That was even more wilder than this one. Look at Matthew chapter 27. Matthew chapter 27 verse 27. Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. What is the whole band? 600. And they spat upon him. So you can just imagine. So almost like Jesus was baptized with spitting. This pattern. So his whole body was filled with liquid. He was buried out of shame. This is almighty God. If you know the value of who Jesus is, his surpassing preciousness, who he is, you will, you will worship him. But this is Jesus you're talking about. This is God. The creator was being judged by his creatures. He was in the world and the world was made by him and the world knew him not. That's Jesus. And they spat upon him saying, you are worthless. This is the God of the universe. You are worthless. You are an outcast. praise God David took Jesus to Pilate who is Pilate Pilate was a chief legal officer who presided over all legal matters in Judea now he presided over the Supreme Court in Judea he had power to say leave and you leave here power to say die and you die that's Pilate and Jesus took before Pilate and they accused Jesus what was the accusation the religious people put on Jesus Luke 23 verse 2 they said number one he was perverting the nation or he was misleading the nation then he refused to pay tribute to sinner that he said he was Christ a king so these were the accusations against him against him and they were all false now listen so they accused Jesus of all of these things under the Roman law if a criminal stands before the court and is accused they give him three opportunities to defend himself one two three to defend himself now listen if in all the three opportunities he refused to defend himself and if he passed up all the opportunities he is legally declared as guilty he automatically becomes guilty of all the charges so they'll give you the first opportunity defend yourself then you are quiet a second opportunity to defend yourself then you are quiet then the third opportunity to defend yourself then you are quiet you are automatically charged with guilt praise God you're automatically guilty what did Jesus do when he stood before Pilate and he was charged with these things what what was his response Matthew chapter 27 verse 12 to 14 NET the next version NET give me NET and when he was accused of the chief priest and the elders he answered nothing okay NET says and when he was accused by the chief priest and the elders he did not respond NET says and when he was accused by the chief priest and the elders he did not respond then pilot said to him don't you hear how many charges they are breaking against you NET says and when he was accused by the chief priest and the elders he did not respond then pilot said to him don't you hear how many charges they are breaking against you that's 14 that's 14 that's 14 but he did not answer even one accusation so that the governor was right and this so jesus they gave him three opportunities so jesus they gave him three opportunities so jesus they gave him three opportunities to defend himself that he was quiet to defend himself that he was quiet to defend himself that he was quiet he kept quiet so after he had passed out he kept quiet so after he had passed out he kept quiet so after he had passed out the three opportunities to defend himself the three opportunities to defend himself the three opportunities to defend himself and he answered nothing he was and he answered nothing he was and he answered nothing he was automatically charged guilty because he knew the father's will he because he knew the father's will he because he knew the father's will he didn't come to defend himself didn't come to defend himself didn't come to defend himself he came to be vulnerable he came to accept the he came to be vulnerable he came to accept the he came to be vulnerable he came to accept the defeat defeat defeat he came to die to take your place and he came to die to take your place and he came to die to take your place and to die for you to die for you to die for you if jesus had defended himself if jesus had defended himself if jesus had defended himself nobody could have withstood him that nobody could have withstood him that nobody could have withstood him that would have defeated the people's while would have defeated the people's while would have defeated the people's while he came but he allowed himself to be he came but he allowed himself to be he came but he allowed himself to be charged guilty charged guilty charged guilty so he could take your place and this was so he could take your place and this was so he could take your place and this was just not just for now he was fulfilling a 700-year-old prophecy. But Isaiah the prophet, Isaiah 53 verse 7, he was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth. He is laid as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before his shepherds is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. So in that one verse, he opened not his mouth twice. As a sheep before the shepherds, as a lamb to the slaughter, he opened not his mouth. Why was he dumb? So he would charge with guilt. To take your place, and to pay for yourself. Hallelujah. And this reveals his moralness, and how willing he was to die. That's Jesus. That's Jesus. He never defended himself, so he could fulfill the ultimate purpose, to be the ultimate sacrifice. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Now one day, Saint Jesus of Golgotha, Jesus of Golgotha, and they put him on the cross. Now understand that, if you were a Roman citizen, you were not put on the cross. No Roman citizen was humiliated to be placed on the cross. According to Flavius Josephus, the historian, to be on the cross means you are a non-Roman citizen of the most lowest status. You belong to a very low status. You are not a citizen. Because no citizen of Rome will be humiliated to be put on the cross. And then, scholars like Seneca will tell us that crucifixion was worse than suicide. It was the most written means of death. So they put Jesus on the cross. But something happened that also reveals Jesus' love for us. Matthew 27, verse 34. Look at what happened. And offered Jesus wine mixed with gall to drink. After tasting it, he would not drink. Now, something happened when he was on the cross. When they put him on the cross, they brought him vinegar, wine, to drink. But they had mixed the wine with gall. So when he tasted it, he rejected it. But before he died, they brought him another wine. That's when he drank it. What was the reason? So the first cup they gave him, he refused. But the second cup they gave him, he refused. He took. He accepted it. Now, why did he refuse the first cup? So the first cup was given to him in this verse, Matthew 27, verse 34. When he tasted it, he realized that there was gall mixed with the wine. You know, in those days, when people were dying by crucifixion, they would give them gall. Gall was like, was a painkiller. It was an anesthesia. It was superific. Which means that when you take it, you intend to get sleep. And it has the ability to benign your senses so that you don't feel the pain. You just die and go away. But Jesus, when he tasted it and realized there was gall in the wine, he rejected it. Why? He came to bear the full consequences and the full penalty of the sin. He came to take the full cup of God's wrath against him. Of God's judgment. Against him. His sufferer, no reduction. He came to pay him full and receive all the penalty, the judgment for the sins. No reduction. He wouldn't even alleviate his pain. He came to bear it all. To be the total, complete, ultimate sacrifice for the sins. For our sins. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. That's what it is. But in John 19. Verse 30. In John 19. Verse 30. Now, let's start from verse 28. They gave man another drink. After this, Jesus, realizing that everything was completed, said, in order to fulfill the scripture. Now, let's go to King James Version, please. King James. After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst. The next verse. And there was set a vessel full of vinegar. And they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it upon high sugar. And put it to his mouth. The next verse. When Jesus, therefore, had received the vinegar, he said, it is finished. Now, let's go back to the NET Version. Please, I follow you. Quickly. Quickly. When Jesus had received the sour wine. So, the first time he tasted the wine, he rejected it because he didn't seek for redemption in pain. But the second time, the Bible says that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst. Listen, Jesus didn't say, I thirst, because he was thirsty. You know, he didn't say, I thirst, because he was thirsty. The Bible says that the scripture might be fulfilled, he said, I thirst. He said, I thirst, to fulfill the scripture. By the time he was about to say, it is finished, there was one thing left for him to redeem before he said, it is finished. There was one last item to redeem before Jesus said, it is finished. And Jesus remembered that scripture. And the Bible says, for the scripture to be fulfilled, said, I thirst. And they brought him sour wine. And when he had drunk it, he said, it is finished. Praise God. So, he said, I thirst, not because he was thirsty, but that the scripture might be fulfilled. What scripture was that? There's a scripture that might be fulfilled. He remembered it, and that was the last item to redeem before dying. What is that scripture? Why did he take the sour wine? Ezekiel 18, verse 1. There was a proverb that was said in those days, that the fathers have eaten sour grapes. And the teeth of the children are set on an edge. What it means is that, the fathers ate sour grapes. The teeth of the fathers were not set on an edge. But the teeth of the children were affected. What it means is that, verse 2. Verse 2. Yeah. What do you mean by quoting this proverb concerning the land of Israel? The fathers ate sour grapes. And the children's teeth become numb. What it means is that the children reap the consequences. They reap the sons, the consequences of what the fathers have done. The fathers have sown, and the children are now reaping the consequences of their sons and their actions. Okay. So it's like, you were born, innocently born, but you come to reap what your fathers did. And you are now reaping the consequences. See, that was what was happening. But in the days of Jeremiah, he prophesied that that proverb was going to change. Yeah. Jeremiah chapter 31, verse 29. Jeremiah 31, 29. 31. 29. When that time comes, people will no longer say, the parents have eaten sour grapes. And the children's teeth have gone numb. So he said, there is a time coming that this proverb will not be viable. So Jeremiah prophesied, a time has come that this proverb will not be viable. Where the children will not have to reap the consequences of the actions of their parents. A time will come this proverb shall be null. It shall be void. What time is that? Look at verse 31. Look at verse 31. Indeed, a time has come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and the people of Judah. You are getting it. So when was the new covenant cut on the cross? The new covenant was cut on the cross. So the time when that proverb was going to be abolished was on the cross. Now on the cross, Jesus remembered that there was one scripture left to be fulfilled. So he says, I test, and they brought in sour wine. Sour wine is sour grapes in its fermented state. You know what he did? He drank to himself. All the, we call it generational cases. All the fathers, all that the fathers did, that is to transcend to generations. He drank it. Because he said, it shall no longer be valid. It shall be void and null. He drank it. And after he drank it, he said, it is finished. It was finished literally. It is paid in court. is faithful so what it means is that jesus also redeemed us from the plague of generational cases so you cannot see the doctors can say your father had diabetes so automatically you must be diabetic your mother and your father because of their genetic constitution you have to be sickle cell anemic then they were telling them your father your mother had cancer so you ought to have cancer you might have prognosis or diagnosis from the doctor but i came to see that jesus in his death he drank the summer wine to redeem us

Speaker 2or you can bow down as the block
Speaker 1you are too tall or you can act as a you are too tall or you can act as a you
Speaker 2are
Speaker 1too tall or you can act as a block okay so i just want to illustrate the okay so i just want to illustrate the okay so i just want to illustrate the same offering same offering same offering hallelujah all right so you'll be the hallelujah all right so you'll be the hallelujah all right so you'll be the high priest high priest high priest so stand here as the high priest how the so stand here as the high priest how the so stand here as the high priest how the son offering was done and how it was son offering was done and how it was son offering was done and how it was fulfilled in christ you'll be the sinner fulfilled in christ you'll be the sinner fulfilled in christ you'll be the sinner you are nicely dressed but you'll still be you are nicely dressed but you'll still be you are nicely dressed but you'll still be the sinner the sinner the sinner okay in those days this was how it was done in those days this was how it was done in those days this was how it was done when when when someone was to offer the same offering someone was to offer the same offering someone was to offer the same offering i want to show you how jesus fulfilled i want to show you how jesus fulfilled i want to show you how jesus fulfilled us an offering how he fulfilled the us an offering how he fulfilled the us an offering how he fulfilled the sacrifices sacrifices sacrifices so this is the sinner and he's supposed so this is the sinner and he's supposed so this is the sinner and he's supposed to offer to offer to offer a son offering either a goat a son offering either a goat a son offering either a goat or if he's a ruler a bull so he goes to a bull so he goes to a bull so he goes to the high priest so let's say sorry you the high priest so let's say sorry you the high priest so let's say sorry you are a goat no you are not dead okay no you are not dead okay no you are not dead okay okay it's okay you stand before him it's okay you stand before him it's okay you stand before him all right so you leave him all right so you leave him all right so you leave him all right so you leave him so the sinner will bring the offering the goat or the bull before the high priest the first thing the high priest does is the first thing the high priest does is the first thing the high priest does is that first you examine the sheep that the first you examine the sheep that the first you examine the sheep that the goat if it is without blemish if if what goat if it is without blemish if if what goat if it is without blemish if if what if one year is broken or you know one if one year is broken or you know one if one year is broken or you know one leg is crooked you examine offering all right that's what he's done he first all right that's what he's done he first all right that's what he's done he first has examined offering has examined offering has examined offering amazing this is the guy who has some but amazing this is the guy who has some but amazing this is the guy who has some but when he comes when he comes when he comes she is not examined but his offering is she is not examined but his offering is she is not examined but his offering is examined examined examined that's why when the sisters stand before that's why when the sisters stand before that's why when the sisters stand before the lord god examines his offering in the lord god examines his offering in the lord god examines his offering in jesus christ what are his options because christ became my husband because christ became my husband because christ became my husband so the high priest examines the offer so the high priest examines the offer so the high priest examines the offer is it perfect is it without blemish okay is it perfect is it without blemish okay is it perfect is it without blemish okay then come you come and you lay down then come you come and you lay down then come you come and you lay down stand in front you put your hands on stand in front you put your hands on stand in front you put your hands on your offering your offering your offering yes and when you do that all your sons yes and when you do that all your sons yes and when you do that all your sons are imputed transferred are imputed transferred are imputed transferred to the sacrifice so as your hands are to the sacrifice so as your hands are to the sacrifice so as your hands are laid laid laid so all of his sons comes on the animal so all of his sons comes on the animal so all of his sons comes on the animal sacrifice sacrifice sacrifice there's an implication there's an implication and the high priest will give you a knife the high priest will give you a knife now you stand the high priest must give you the knife so there's the knife to cut his head so cut his head cut his head then you die how will you die all right no let him let him let him let him remain dead so this is it now he is now free because an innocent victim took his place god is inflexibly just some must be punished but god is also loving so instead of god killing you god brings puts all your judgments on an innocent victim to keep your judgment in your state so that you can go free and jesus christ became an offering and when hands were put on him what it means is that all our souls were transferred to jesus and instead of we being slain jesus rather was slain for us so that we might be free So when the lamb is slain in the mind of God God is treating the sacrifice as you. He's treating the sacrifice as you. When Jesus was on the cross he knew no sin. In him was no sin. The Bible says who did no sin? Pilate said I found no fault in him. Jesus once said put your feet on being set me of sin. He was pure. He was holy. He was harmless. Yet as innocent and spotless he became sin. And God treated him as you. So all that treatment was God treating you. That was what has happened. But that's not the end with the sin offering. Something amazing happened with the sin offering. After the animal is dead, the animal had to be carried. Outside the camp. Can you carry your offering? You cannot carry. So you bring the offering outside the camp. Bring the offering here. Outside the camp. Please lie here. Outside the camp. Remember you didn't resurrect. You are still dead. Now this is what happened. The bodies of the animals of the sin offering were sent outside the camp. Outside the camp means outside their residence. Outside the tabernacle. Outside their residence. For a reason. All your sons are still here. In the body of the animal. And it is slain. It is brought outside the camp. For what purpose? Hebrews 13 verse 11 to 13 I want us to read that verse. Hebrews 13 verse 11 to 13. For the bodies of those animals whose blood the high priest brings into the sanctuary as an offering for sin are banned outside the camp. Outside the camp. Are banned outside the camp. Verse 12. Therefore to satisfy the people by his own blood Jesus also suffered outside the camp. Let us therefore go forth unto him. Oh my. Outside the camp. Bearing his reproof. For he hath been a continuity. The animal was taken outside the camp because it is ritually unclaimed. Or ceremonially unclaimed. So it is taken outside the camp. And it is banned to ashes. It is banned to ashes. Can you imagine? That Jesus also. He died outside the gate of Jerusalem. He also died outside the camp. Outside the residence of the people. So Jesus was treated like the outcast animal. The animal was ritually unclaimed. So he could not be received in the camp. He had to be banned outside the camp. That is how Jesus was treated. The fact that he died outside the gate means he was an outcast. The people rejected him. Jesus was rejected by the people. And the animal sacrifice was banned to ashes. Banned to ashes. And after it was banned to ashes, you know what happened? God said they should collect the ashes. It is amazing. So they had to collect the ashes. Now all of this is in Leviticus 4. They collect the ashes and they put the ashes in a clean place as a memorial. I brought some ashes for illustration. Bring the ashes. And all of these things were in the Old Testament. Ashes. So these are ashes. This ashes is so fine. Praise God. So the animal is banned into ashes. And God says the ashes should be in a clean place. Praise God. So the question is why was the ashes presented? Now when you see ashes, what does it mean? Do you know that anything you ban is reduced to ashes? Whatever you ban is reduced to ashes. Ashes are the final irreducible state of matter. So when you ban ashes, you ban something to ashes, you cannot reduce it further. It is the final state. And God said, preserve it as a memorial. Remember that this was where your soul was put. But now your soul is in ashes. When you see ashes, as long as you are walking and you see a heap of ashes, what comes to your mind? Hey, what was banned? Ashes reveals that the fire has already done its work. Ashes is a proof that the fire has already done its work. Judgment is passed and you go out. Applause When Jesus was on the cross, he didn't only just die, literally he was banned. The ban means that the fire of God's wrath came over him. You know that God was angry with you because of your sins. God was seriously angry but Jesus received all of God's wrath. And the truth is that he exhausted God's wrath so that there is no remainder of God's wrath. He took all of God's wrath in the body, in his body and consumed it. All of God's wrath. Every anger against every single sin of yours, Jesus received all over him, on him, on the cross. Every sentence, every guilt, every condemnation, every judgment, all the anger, the wrath, he received all. He said it is finished. Now, the fire, ashes was there as a memorial but the fire has already done its work. The fire has done its work. Today, the truth is that God is not angry with you because Jesus took God's anger against you. Now, if you live your life thinking God is angry with you, you cannot even fellowship with God. Have you ever read Isaiah 53? Now, Isaiah 53 is the Old Testament story of the cross. The whole chapter describes the cross. Who has believed our report and to whom is the arm of the Lord being revealed. It describes the sufferings of Jesus Christ. The whole chapter. Praise God. Then, we go to Isaiah 54 which is a continuation of Isaiah 53. Now, Isaiah 53 is the story of the cross. Isaiah 54 is the effect of the cross. So, after Jesus died, what is the result? The result of the cross and what Jesus did is Isaiah 54. So, quickly let's go to Isaiah 54 and let me show you something quickly. King James Version, Isaiah 54. Sing, O barren. Now, after telling us all that Jesus did on the cross, the next verse says, sing, O barren. You know what he's saying? After Jesus died, if you are barren, start singing. Because he said it is finished. If you are barren spiritually, start singing. If you are barren economically, start singing. If you are barren academically, start singing. If you are barren in your heart, whatever your barrenness is, you are barren in peace, you are barren in joy. Whatever that barrenness is, start singing. Because Jesus took away every kind of barrenness. Every kind of barrenness in your life. So he said, sing, O barren. That means, don't even wait for the visible signs of fruitfulness. Start singing. Because Jesus became a curse for us. Christ has indeed asked from the cross of the Lord, be made a curse for us. It is written, curse is every mother handed upon the tree, that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit by faith. Sing. I don't know your condition right now. Whether it is a marriage, a marital condition, economic condition, financial condition, at this Easter season, the good news is that sing. Sing, O barren. Sing, O barren. That means start praising. Start praising. Start singing.
Speaker 2If you don't want to go, take some handkerchiefs and start singing and sing it all around. Because your ministry has come to an end. Your troubles have come to an end. That disadvantage has come to an end. There is good in this.
Speaker 1There is blessing. There is fruitfulness. There is good. Something good is already happening. Sing. Give your deliverance by saying sing. It's time to sing. Now look at verse 9. So this chapter is the effect of the cross. Look at verse 9. For this is as the waters of Noah. That's the cross. As I have sworn by the waters of Noah that it should no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I will not be rough, I will not be angry with you. Nor condemn you. The word rebuke here means condemn. So have I sworn. You see, Jesus took away all of God's wrath. Jesus didn't do anything. He was bearing your case. And he exhausted God's anger. As a result of that, God has sworn that I will not be angry with you. Because my son exhausted my anger. Today you can come to Jesus, to the Father freely. Haven't therefore prayed in boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. Praise God. God is not angry with you. He says, I have shared. sworn. You know what it means for God to swear? That means if I change my mind, I will deny my existence. I will stop being God. God swore by his Godhead. He swore by his life that I will no more be wroth with you or condemn you. There is now therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life has made me free from the law of sin of death. Praise God. Today God is happy. Do you know God is happy? Have you ever read 1 Corinthians 21 verse 11? The Bible says the gospel of the blessed God which is committed to my trust. The word blessed is the gospel of the happy God. According to the gospel of the happy God which has been committed to me. God is happy because of what Jesus did on the cross. God couldn't look to you to pay your sins. There is nothing you can do. God is satisfied. He is satisfied with his son. But look at something. Ashes. God says when somebody comes in Numbers 19. Okay, let's read Hebrews 13. Sorry, Hebrews 9 verse 13. Hebrews 9 verse 13. Hebrews 9 verse 13. Quickly. For if the blood of bulls and of goats and the ashes of an hypha, the ashes of an hypha sprinkling the unclean, sanctify it unto the purifying of the flesh. The ashes. What happened in those days is that if a sinner, please come. Please come and stand here. If a sinner, if an unclean person comes for purification, please stand here. If an unclean person comes for down, comes for purification, the high priest, the priest will take the ashes and mix with water and pour it on him. That's amazing. That's in Numbers 19. Now, where is the sin? This is a sin. The sin has been judged. So right now, it is ashes. Did you bring the wood? I thought to bring the wood for illustration. This wood is big. Look, listen. If I use this wood to hit your head seven times, what will happen?
Speaker 2I'm dead. Do you
Speaker 1know, you feel the pain. Yes. But if this wood is burnt, it becomes what?
Speaker 2Ashes. It becomes where I am.
Speaker 1Now, if this wood is, if I hit you, you'll be injured. Yes. But if I burn this wood, it becomes ashes. Yes. But if I put the ashes on you, will you feel the pain? No, no, no, no, no, no. Please come forward. Now, after Jesus died, your sins have been judged. Okay. Sin, your sin is now but ashes. When the unclean person stands before the Lord, the high priest who makes him with water, running water and sprinkling it on him, saying that sin is now ashes. Sin no more has dominion over you. Because on the cross, sin has been judged. Do you understand? This is just empty shells. It has lost its life. This event, I've seen this. It has lost its thing, its strength and its power. So when it's put on you, it's to give you a sense that sin is judged. Therefore, sin cannot rule your life. You understand? So I'm telling you that when Jesus died, sin was judged. So sin cannot rule your life. After redemption, sin cannot dominate your life. For sin shall not have dominion over you. Because you are not under the law, under the law, but under grace. The Bible says that the stink of sin is death and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be unto God who always giveth us victory, the victory in Christ Jesus. I'm telling you that because sin has been judged, you can live a life overcoming sin and the victory over sin. Praise the Lord, Lord. Hallelujah. Because all our sins are now ashes. Hallelujah. Because Jesus took the judgment, it has been forgiven and it has lost its power over you. Hallelujah. The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Praise God. Give God a praise. So this was our sin offering. Jesus has become our sin offering. He's taken away our sin. Blessed be God. He took our place. Judgment is behind us. Sins have been judged. God's no longer angry with the redeemed. Praise the Lord. But this was the sin offering. But the burnt offering. Please come. Please come. Thank you very much. But with the burnt offering. The burnt offering is different from the sin offering. You may think it's a repetition, but it's not. Please stand here. With the burnt offering. Stand in front of me. With the burnt offering, the offerer will lay his hands, but he doesn't include his son. That is sin offering. Praise God. With the burnt offering, when he lays his hands on the sacrifice, the beauty of the sacrifice, the acceptance, the preciousness, the worthiness, and the innocence of the. of the animal. comes on me. Comes on him. Not the burnt offering. So that's Leviticus. Chapter 1, verse 3, verse 4 going. It says, "It shall be accepted from him." So it becomes your sector. So two ways. With a sin offering, your son goes down, and he dies for you. Now with the burnt offering, the righteousness of the Lamb comes upon you. So it says in 1 Corinthians 5:21, "He has made him to be sin for us." Who do you know sinning? "That we might be made the righteousness of God in him." So he has made him to be sin for us. That's a sin offering. That we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. That is a burnt offering. So amazingly, that Jesus didn't only take away our sin. So with the sin offering, God treated him as you. All that God was doing to him, God had you in mind. Because it was you. But with the burnt offering, God is now treating you as him. Because who he is, his worthiness, his acceptance, now comes upon you. We receive his righteousness. For as he is, so are we in this world. We receive his acceptance. We receive his preciousness. We receive his worthiness. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. That is what redemption did for us. Hallelujah. Romans 10:4. Christ is the end of the law. For righteousness to everyone that believe. The passing version says there is a perfect righteousness to those who have believed. Hallelujah. Thank you very much. God bless you. Thank you. So Jesus received all of this. So when we receive him, his righteousness, your sin goes to him and his righteousness comes to you. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. Then there is also the peace offering. Jesus fulfilled all of these things. The peace offering. You know the peace offering. You read the peace offering. But in Leviticus chapter 3, the Hebrew says peace is offering. Amazing. That is the Hebrew. Peace is shalom in English. But the Hebrew says shalemim offering. Shalemim offering. Peace is. Peace is. Peace is. was stolen from because you had one and in the restoration the person the person restores four not one but if the person stole your cow or oxen or bull he has to restore five that means the greater the damage the greater the restoration if it is cheap you restore only four but if it is a cow you restore five the greater your damage your injury the greater your restoration that was the what is called the trespass often it was a law of restitution now it was not just restoration restoration means that if you lost one sheep there's one restoration by this time you lost one but there is four so it is restoration with compensation we call that restitution and look at what Jesus did please come the two of you look at what Jesus did John 15 verse 25 you stand here and you stand here please stand here so you are Jesus John 15:25 says they hated me without cause they hated me without cause John 15:25 is a quotation from Psalm 69 verse 4 Psalm 69 verse 4 they hated me without cause you see it is there the last verse is then I restored that which I took not away Jesus became my trespass offering For instance, if someone stole from you, this guy stole from you. So he has to restore to you. He stole not a sheep but a cow. So you have to restore fire. Now, Jesus said, I restored that which I took out away. Do you know what happened on the cross? He just took the place of the offender. He said, I restored that which I took out away. He took it away. But he says, I, he says, I restored that which I took out away. So Jesus became the restorer. So Jesus took the place of the offender. The traitor, of the offender. And whatever your loss was, Jesus on the cross now restores to you. He pays to you. I'm telling you that Jesus fulfilled the trespass of him. In Isaiah 53, the Bible says he made his soul a trespass of him for you. So what it means is that truth is very important. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. The truth unknown is powerless. But the truth, if the truth is known, gives you the mastery. Whatever your loss is, you may have broken heart, you may have had broken heart, or some great losses in life. Do you know that instead of complaining and complaining, there are people who live in their misery all their lives because of what's happened to them. Do you know that you can go to Jesus and say, Jesus, today I receive you as my trespass offering. You said you are the one. You restored to me what you didn't take away. So Jesus, you are my trespass offering. Restore to me according to what you did for me on the cross. I'm telling you that you can receive Christ as your trespass offering. And whatever you lost shall be restored in double fold. Of course, I will have double fold. No. The scripture can come alive if you believe it. I restored that culture to God. So what is your loss? You might have lost a baby. You might have lost a spouse. You might have lost a kind of wealth. Or something like unjust gain. Instead of being, instead of being, instead of being in that mood all your life in misery. Listen. The cross solved every human need. The cross. It solved every human need. If Jesus has given you salvation, whatever he will give you again is less. Whatever he will give you again is less. He gave you salvation. Whatever he can give you is less. Because salvation is the greatest of all. It's the greatest of all. So, Jesus, you are my trespass offering. Restore to me what you did for me on the cross. You took not away. And my faith and patience will obtain a promise. Hallelujah. Thank you very much. Hallelujah. Praise God. Hallelujah. As I conclude, I would like us to pray briefly. But I wanted to know that Jesus died fruitfully. In conclusion, Jesus shed his blood in seven places. Now, there are seven places Jesus shed his blood. And you have to know where he died. You have to know where he died. If you just claim it, I am healthy. is mine strength is mine ability is mine himself through my infirmities i work in health i work in

Podcast Summary

Key Points:

  1. Jesus Christ is the ultimate sacrifice, and the purpose of Christmas (His birth) was fulfilled in Easter (His death).
  2. The shepherds who received the angelic announcement were rabbinical shepherds specially trained to prepare unblemished lambs for temple sacrifices, and the manger sign identified Jesus as the Lamb of God.
  3. Jesus willingly submitted to arrest and trial, demonstrating His divine authority when the soldiers fell backward at His declaration "I AM," yet He chose not to defend Himself to fulfill prophecy.
  4. The Sanhedrin and Roman soldiers subjected Jesus to extreme humiliation, including spitting on His face, beating Him, and treating the Creator as worthless.
  5. Jesus refused the wine mixed with gall (a painkiller) to bear the full penalty of sin without reduction, but later drank sour wine to fulfill Scripture and redeem humanity from generational curses.
  6. Jesus fulfilled all five Old Testament offerings, particularly the sin offering (taking our judgment), the burnt offering (giving us His righteousness), the peace offering, and the trespass offering (restoring what was lost).
  7. Jesus shed His blood in seven places, each with redemptive significance for specific areas of human need including healing, dignity, mental health, work, walk with God, and emotional healing.
  8. Because Jesus exhausted God's wrath on the cross, God has sworn He will no longer be angry with or condemn the redeemed, and sin has been judged and rendered powerless like ashes.

Summary:

FAQs

The swaddling cloth was used by shepherds to wrap lambs that had been examined and found fit for temple sacrifice. When Jesus was wrapped in swaddling cloth and lying in a manger, it was a sign that He was the Lamb of God, without blemish, born to be the ultimate sacrifice.

The wine mixed with gall was a painkiller that would have numbed His senses. Jesus refused it because He came to bear the full penalty and judgment for sin without any reduction or alleviation of pain.

Jesus said 'I thirst' not because He was physically thirsty, but to fulfill Scripture. They gave Him sour wine, which represents the sour grapes of generational curses. By drinking it, He redeemed us from the plague of inherited curses and made the new covenant possible.

In the sin offering, the sinner laid hands on the animal, transferring sins to it, and the animal was slain and burned outside the camp. Jesus became our sin offering: our sins were transferred to Him, He was treated as us, and He died outside the gate of Jerusalem, bearing God's wrath so we could go free.

In the sin offering, our sins were transferred to Jesus, and He was judged in our place. In the burnt offering, Jesus' righteousness, worthiness, and acceptance are transferred to us, so we are made the righteousness of God in Him.

The trespass offering required restitution with compensation for losses. Jesus became our trespass offering by restoring what He did not take away. Through Him, whatever we have lost can be restored, and we can receive restoration by faith.
