Jan 24‘26 - Patch 16.3 & All the Massive Changes - Set 16 TFT Study Hall Podcast - Set 16 Lore and Legends

The discussion centers on the major Teamfight Tactics patch 16.3, released on January 23rd. The hosts note it as a significant update following the holidays, featuring extensive system changes, champion adjustments, and item reworks. A key change is the increased gold cost to level from 8 to 9, aimed at making reaching level nine more challenging, which receives mixed reactions; some players find it forces more strategic play at level eight, while others feel it limits options without economy augments. The patch also adjusts unlock conditions for champions like Kaisa and Orianna to make them more accessible. Aurelion Sol is identified as the current top-tier composition (S-tier) due to buffs that enhance his damage scaling and early-game stability, making him a powerful win condition upon unlocking. Additional topics include quality-of-life updates, specific buffs to champions such as Shyvana, and changes to augments and items, with overall analysis suggesting a shift in the meta toward more balanced, though contested, champion strategies.

(upbeat music) - Hello everybody and welcome back for another episode of TFT Study Hall with your host from TFT Gatty. My name is Frodan. - And I'm just up. - Yeah, I'm Solus. - Yo, I'm Solus. And we're back for another episode today is January 23rd. It's gonna be released on the 24th. But it's one day after the patch for 16.3. And my god, this is actually the big patch. The 16.2 was kind of a big patch, but it was post holidays. It was after the holidays that Riot took off at the end of the year in 2025. But they couldn't make a bunch of system changes, things like changes to the unlocks or other structural changes to the set. So this is the big patch of the set. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the biggest patch that we'll see and then we'll go from there once we get our bearings. So we got a lot to break down in this episode. But first I want to catch up with the guys since it's been a couple of weeks then. So Disso, how has the past couple of weeks been for you? What's been going on in your lane? - That's about all right. I don't know. Just play in TFT. Rejubiting Soju. And-- - Rejubiting Soju. About what? - Yeah. I don't know, just whatever. - Just-- - And-- - No, 'cause the thing is, it never went. But yeah, I'll just chill in pretty much. - Okay, okay, so Solus, how have you been? - You played in the Tacticians Cup last week? - Yeah, I kind of point leave, but yeah, I mean, the last couple of games didn't go so well, but now I'm playing for like, Play-ins. I'm doing my snapshot now. So like, you should go find Solus. I don't write down it, find out. - Okay, okay. - So you are pretty close to qualifying for regionals through Latter, right? You just have to do well. It's not just for a couple of weeks. Okay. - It's like, yeah, I only have to compete with two people. And they're like lowering them in right now. So I'm just illocidating. All right, all right? Well, hopefully you can drop some of that knowledge, but we're hoping that you can pull through and we'll see you every regionals. All right, so let's go ahead and break down. Oh, wait, I guess I should talk about what I'm doing. I've been participating in a TFT coaching competition with other streamers and creators with something called the Boxbox Bash. Boxbox put on like a $25,000 tournament. We're sponsoring it. It's called the Boxbox Bash presented by TFT Academy Riot Games. And it's me, Wayshan-Iverson, Key-Yoon, Robin Songs, Aisa, Emily Wang, Brosef, and obviously Boxbox. And we're coaching three students and streamers for basically nine to 10 days. And we're doing all right. Even though a lot of people interested made in my team, mainly because a lot of people thought I was one of the lower rank coaches. And they looked at my team and my team was like, master zero, P and Emerald players. We're actually second in points. So we're actually doing okay. The finals are tomorrow and hopefully we do really well. Before we get too deep into the actual episode though, I want to remind you guys about the TFT Academy companion app that's coming out pretty soon. It's gonna be a useful tool for the usual TFT Academy stuff, but also a couple of cool features that we're gonna roll out over the course of the year that I think you'll really enjoy. TFTcademy.com/overlay. All right, so the patch was pretty huge. We had a lot of changes. Here's the summary of it. A bunch of buffs and a bunch of nerfs. Some adjustments, some reworks. The big one being a really install, which is public enemy number one. We're gonna talk about a little bit. There's also some system changes and also a changing of some items and even some augments. So let's go ahead and start with the big one. That I think a lot of people are talking about system wise, which is leveling now costs eight more gold. They go from level eight to level nine. A lot of players have felt this impact. Riot said that they felt like going nine was too easy and they wanted to make it a little bit harder, especially for the unlocks. And some players were even posting on social media that they feel like this was a bad change because it kind of made the game quote, "unplayable" without econ augments to start off. So I wanna get the first reactions here. Dissoap, what do you think about the leveling change from eight to nine? - I don't know. I don't think I hated as much as others, but I don't know if I like think this was like the best thing to do. Yeah, I kind of give it a non stance, but I think like there's a world where these numbers are fine, but like maybe level eight need to be like four gold cheaper or something or maybe you don't do this at all and you make like the econogue's worse, but I don't really think the econogue's like need to be that worse. I'm not really sure, I don't like feeling that. But I think they, yeah, I don't know. I like to see like level eight be like four gold cheaper if they did this, I guess. - I know you talk to Riot and you have some feedback every now and then. Was it something that players were discussing at all behind the scenes either in like lobby two or any of the private feedback that sometimes they asked you for? - I don't really think people like were asking for this that much to be honest, but most of the feedback where people like mostly like not liking the old level eight change for like the new set when they made that like pretty expensive. - Yeah. - So it's definitely not like at least from what I've seen, like this doesn't really seem based on like high elo feedback. I know I have been like a big proponent of like lowering the amount of gold in the game, which like this somewhat does. I actually think we were in like a pretty good balance before like maybe like there's slightly too much gold sometimes on like certain galaxies and prismatics, but. - Okay. - You were happy with how the system works. So now are you slightly unhappy? Are you okay with it? - I guess I would say I think I like this a little bit less, but it's close. - Okay. - It just takes something like adapting and to do and like maybe some repalancing. Like maybe Ziggs doesn't even need like a nerf at all if this is the change because like maybe something that requires level nine gets to be overpowered. For example, if that's how they're gonna balance it and I think that could maybe work. - Okay. - I mean they're doing that with some seven cause, right? If you know Baron is kind of overpowered, but that's cause yet to get to 10. So same concept of maybe level nine. So this your initial reactions EXP plus eight requirement for me to know. - Well, personally when I saw something like this, I knew like fast nine was like much worse and I haven't really played fast nine that much fast fast. So I really like the change. Like I prefer to play level eight calm or like real calm in the first place. And yeah, I mean, I just killed last time to get advantage of all the people who's trying to play a solo fast nine. These guys kind of lost. - So is it thumbs up from you? - Thumbs up. Thumbs up. Just my place now is like, I like it. - Okay, yeah. I mean, I think what it is is you can't really skip level eight as much and it's gonna force people to play around more the four cause, but it does also, one of the paradox that it exists is that you want to roll on eight for the four costs, but you need to get the nine to finish your board. So you can even hit all your four costs a lot of time on eight. And you finish the game on nine, but if you can't get to nine, it feels like you still kind of get stuck on eight for a long time. That's the plastic complaints that the players are saying. How much of that is true? I mean, we'll find out, but I do notice one trend, which is a lot more people feel like they're chasing three to four costs on eight. And that might be the winch that they're trying to do, but they also have a couple of system changes with that as well, which is unlockable four and five costs are now harder to hit if you're uncontested, but when you are contested, it's a bit easier to start a unit yet still harder to three star them. I, I don't know. I feel like this is, I feel like this is a pro, like I feel like this is just a fake news, except, I mean, it's not a fake news, but it's not, I don't feel the impact of this at all, except for maybe like hitting unlock for four costs three star. Like that, that's probably the only thing they like actually tuned. I think that's what I mean, like the, only unlockable on a harder to three star, but like, I feel like it wasn't that much harder, because like the only time you usually go for this, when you have a dupe, and then with dupe, you don't really notice the difference, because the first eight copies is still easy to get, it's a nine copy that's hard to get. So you have a dupe, yeah, if you have a dupe, you can actually just cheat it. - Are you sure that's how it works? - I mean, it happens like, yeah. - 'Cause the, they had like a blog post, and I thought it was like this, I thought it was like every copy, like past the six copy or something. - There was some number, but it definitely was not the eighth. - Yeah, so yeah, 'cause like for me, like I'm always stuck on eight and double up, and I just used a dupe, but yeah. - That kind of didn't double up, I see. - You really notice it on like the eighth copies, 'cause like you don't see anything else. I'm like the six and seven copies, like, you don't really notice it. - There are some beliefs that maybe it doesn't influence it. They're not even telling us the percentages, so for now, I'm just playing as if nothing has changed. - How about this, Aras. The following champion, Aras now persists, even if the champion dies. Shovanna, Skarner, and Teri. That's like the plus armor, durability, and the magic resistance souls. This feels like a really big buff to these champions. - Yeah, I mean, that will make like, Aesol kind of much stronger, right? 'Cause like now Aesol run both Terrick and Skarner, and the whole company sound like Ara buffing the entire team. - I actually think this is like older about the Shovanna, 'cause the thing is that Terrick buff gets canceled out, by the Terrick nerf. And then like, high key with Skarner, like, with how like 90% of AD fights play out, is like, it doesn't really matter, like after your main tank dies, if you're the gains of armor. Just 'cause most AD comps are like friend of back. Even the ones with like a little bit of backline access, usually like are like nearest to target or something, for like their backline access, so you still have to kill the frontline. - I see, I see. - So like after the Skarner die, like you're losing value anyways, usually. - Yeah. - But like it's like a tiny buff for Skarner, I'd say I think it's a major buff for Shovanna, because it's like that unit, like an easily die, since she jumps in, and her aura is like crazy, so. - This is a very, very big buff for Shovanna. - Yeah, Skarner dies, we die anyways, but Shovanna was never really the tank. She was always like a splash unit, so her impact is very much felt, okay. And then a couple of other quality of life changes, crafted crafting with Gwent Gifts, that was something we discovered half, but like partially way through the patch, but that gave you what, 18 free rerolls in there. - Yeah. - It was basically a prismatic. - Yeah, you have like half of an honor roll, Gigi. (laughs) And then Emblem Ensemble, which is the Ryze encounter, they disabled a handful of things. They didn't disable Traitree though. It's some other things, but. - Actually that's fine, actually that's fine. - I think only a double, the moment's like, it's stupid with Fodd, like off of a, off of a world runes, but they also have that. So they remove world runes entirely, which we'll talk about as well. Finally, some unlock conditions, and then we're gonna move into the tier list section here. The unlock conditions. Keisa now from eight to seven, Orianna is now no longer three-pilt over. It just put two items on any Pilt over champion, could be Vi, could be Kate. Trinimir, only one item, which means one component, you don't have to make a full item, you're only one full component. And then Warwick now from two-star Vi and what's our jinx to one item on Vi and jinx, but no two-star requirement. General reaction, dystop, thumbs up, thumbs down. - Always are like pretty big thumbs up. Like, I don't know. Like maybe Keisa's open with us getting on seven because like you're playing like, usually at least three combat extra with the Keisa on your board, then previously. And like this actually allows you to like, sometimes go like three, two, level seven, and Keisa in three, three. So sometimes you're getting like four or five extra rounds of getting a Keisa on your board. And like Keisa one blows Kogma two out of the water. So your mid game was just so much more stable with this change on Keisa. So like, I don't know, like maybe that line is like slightly above after this change, but I think all the other changes were like necessary. I actually like to see them go further. I think Orianna unlock should be down to one item. Graves unlock should be down to one item. I also think this Kennen unlock needs to be like six stars like yesterday. I don't know why this is eight stars. - Eight stars is brutal, man. - Eight star is completely insane. Like a level five or a level six requirement to it. So like I don't know. I don't even know if it breaks the game if you don't have a level requirement. But this unit needs to not be eight stars. It's all I know. And I think that's like, that's probably it for like, oh, and then eight rocks. This, I don't know what the eight trucks change should be. That one's a little bit harder. But like no one actually wants to build double, double healing in nowadays. - Not especially at the release. And slayers, it feels redundant when you're trying to accomplish there. I think thematically it was because it scales off of off. It drugs scales off of Avdivab. But like it's not actually, like even after the attacks we nerf his business still not double healing. So we're, you just have a nuclear item economy to play like not an overpowered unit. So yeah, I like this, but that's not, that's not worth it. - Yeah, I like to see something different for that. - I forgot eight trucks was in the game. Someone said from chat, you know what? Sometimes I do as well. The most often times I unlock eight trucks is when I'm playing Ishtol and I get radiant bloodthirsty or something like that. And I just like accidentally unlock eight trucks. I'm like, oh, okay, cool. Oh, there you go. - Yeah, R-R-T-G. - Oh yeah. - Oh, R-T-E-S-Goth. - S-E-S-S-O-L-S. How do you feel about these changes as well? - Oh, I actually like, Orianna changed the most 'cause like, I think yesterday I had a program them and I could unlock Orianna on my vocal board pretty easily. Like it's pretty nice change. I think like Orianna Flex is like a real thing early game now, 'cause like, she fits with so many of the good units, right? Like so on a LeBlanc stuff like that. And you easily fit over in those kind of lines. - Yeah, yeah. I've had, I watched Bides of from China. He's climbing on NA right now. He's one of the top Chinese regional players. He five-street in like a pretty powerful lobby with Orianna with the Seraphim staff, playing like Orianna by and Damasya. And it was entirely one star. It was kind of crazy. I couldn't believe it. Because Orianna was just actually going nuts with this full item. So there's definitely something there with Orianna early games. She definitely feels like an under-export champion. With that, we covered all of the system changes. And so we're going into like the buffs and the nerfs. So let's go ahead and jump into the tier list and check out exactly what's on top and why that is. All right, so this is a 16.3 tier list. And right now, the way the shape of the tier list is is that we have one cop in S tier. We have Aurelion Soul, Targon A Soul. Who wants to take this one? Does it want to break down A Soul for us? Why is A Soul Soul S tier? Well, the thing is, the old thing with A Soul is that he used to be terrible until you got like some stacks going. And then he was okay. But by that time, you were already like dying. You had to build bad items that made your cast not too damaged because he scaled off like the instances of damage that a full damage. The biggest buff to him is that he actually scales off your damage done so you can build a good items. Also, Nashors got like a buff, which I don't really understand why they did. But Nashors gets five more AP now. So this build just has 10 more AP in the last patch. It helps a lot. This is, I think it's full crit. This build is full crit. But now when you unlock A Soul, he is like immediately overpowered, like even with those star dust. At least for like, when you unlock him, like stage three, stage four, one star A Soul is easily stable stage four. If you have like non one star garbage frontline, and then to start A Soul as a wincon, I've seen A Soul one win. I've seen like A Soul like one like easily top like two. Like maybe like they just miss A Soul two and they lose because of that. But that's like really, really insane for a unit you can just unlock. And also like people have like figured out that like, oh, we're not actually supposed to be playing these Star Guns for that long 'cause A Soul is just so good baseline. Let me just play like the standard like Auras and like like the standard Piltover Swing Shull that has been on like many boards this set. But you get the Shivana aura, you get Archanis, you get Defender, you get Piltover. So I just all the Auras to help your team. And then A Soul does the damage. GG. - Is Final Six? This is just like an extra thing on top, right? - Yeah. - You don't really. - Yeah. - How? 'Cause a lot of people would be thinking, oh, if you have Stairfield, don't you wanna get another Strupter in? - I know some people play Azir, but I'm like a pretty big believer that it's like not Azir in this line. - Interesting. - Why is that? - I think it's just better to play the other five cost 'cause like all your damage is A Soul. Disruptor is okay. But I don't really know how to like, answer you like, like, succinctly, but I just think the other boards are like way better. Like Azir, like you're not kind of items for your shuriman's 'cause you're not going, you're going to have item win in this comp. Like you're going to have Asel items, you're going to have tank items, and like maybe some like other, like a GG and like maybe some other dual carry, maybe. But like the shuriman's don't do anything if they're not itemized. - Okay. - Asel doesn't do anything, or Azir doesn't really, like two disruptors like whatever. But I feel like it's just better to play Final Six. It's better to play Santa even. I think it's better to play Scarner. And then a lot of times like your two broke and you have to keep the Leona Diana for like a minute. So if you're doing that, yeah. - I do that. I've won games with Leona Diana on the board as well because you hit Asel too. It doesn't really matter after that. Like I even think I like playing Zillian Oriana more than Seraphine Azir. - I like Oriana. - I'm Vokorambo and Vokorambo and Vokorambo. - Oh yeah, and Vokorambo is Trubus. - Trubus. - Trubus, Trubus. - All right, Solus. Do you think Asel needs a B patch? People are saying that Asel is too strong. - Honestly, I would just tune him down a little bit. He's not too strong or say like he is strong but like I've seen Asel more loses like pretty often. It's similar. You can see on that day, like a bunch of people bought for it with Asel unless they like Hyrule, they're from that anyways. Yeah, I feel like Asel get B patch and it's become available. I feel like people would contest the other coms more and it wouldn't be that healthy. Like I think those guys are just inting. - Oh yeah, I mean, don't say I've done my fair share of a limit testing and I'm pretty convinced. - Yeah, I mean Asel is good. Like having an SEO comp is good because you want like two people on those lines so you have like a contested line for like the other coms. It makes sense, you know what I mean? - I see. - Someone just wants fewer people on his line. Okay, I need to reset my somehow. - Sure, sure, sure, sure. - What are some of your lines? Okay, so we covered some of Asel here. Try to go for the crit builds guys if you have to. - I think after Nash is JJ, you can justify a bunch of those kind of hard to get specific things. But what are some of your lines that you like to play this bad so is about this? - Yeah, my favorite lines is Ionia, like Yunara or Sayers. Personally, like I'm a big fan of Sayers because like oftentimes you're gonna be uncontested on like Velvet and Bessa. And then I just like take double econ to teach like them, but I don't play like the with GP version. I play like the either four boy flex if I have two bits, like caprices and boy spikes. Or I can play like the one where you play two boy with like legendary flex and tarot flex. - Okay, so when you say the four void, are you playing Kaisa or are you playing? - Yes, yes. I'm playing Kokmachogat, Riff Herald, Velvet. - Oh, so basically you're playing this structure, but instead of Kaisa, you're playing Velvet and playing around more of the slayer and Bessa stuff. - Yes, yes, I see interesting. - And then yeah, I mean the other version you have like free slot because if you're playing Sion for your Noxus bruiser, you don't have to play your Loury Nautilus, you actually have like two free slot, you can just say play Orn, play Sena, play Fiddle. It's pretty flexible. - Okay. - You should get that version updated then. - Yeah, yeah, I can add that. Because I feel like the GP version is as much weaker now. It's still very playable if you have GP items, but I just like to have my economy for the other win condition, you know, like three sorry, the forecast, sneak it. - Yeah, I mean it's weaker because bilgewater got nerfed, right? That's one of the big things we could talk about. Bilgewater getting nerfed pretty heavily now. And I mean, we put it in C tier. Is it really C tier? There's so bilgewater all the way at the bottom. - I don't know, like it's at least the way you like used to play it, yes, because like you get one less serpent per kill, which adds up a lot. The two costs are also like with that, the two costs are five serpents more expensive. So going for TF3 is much harder. Fizz is not a unit anymore. That used to be the unit you stabilized on the most. TF2 Fizz was like a free fast nine. Nine is also more expensive. So like you actually have to be like more stable on the forecast because there's no like, there's no promise land of getting to Ziggs where you like don't care about your Fizz anymore. So like the level nine change requires you to hit the things that got hurt the most, I guess. - I see. - I haven't really seen it that much on live. Like maybe I see it go top four randomly, but on PB at least it seemed okay. Like if I got like a piled over emblem or not piled over a bilgewater emblem often like rice portal or like spreading roots or something. And I had like a good opener for it. Like the bilge emblem helps out a lot. It means you don't have to stabilize on Fizz. You get seven bilgewater like in a lot earlier. It just lets you play better boards. But then like I don't really think that is that much of a reason to not put it in C tier. I don't know. It looks nothing good. - Yeah, I think it struggles. It's the early game is still okay-ish. I mean, it's not like they changed too much interaction with how to defend holds certain items. But I do feel like bilgewater is now one of those traits where you're trying to pivot out of it, right? What can you play bilgewater into? Staying in bilgewater feels weird to me, right? I feel kind of the same way how people view Nox's tempo for example. People, one strategy people are playing with Nox's is to like unlock LeBlanc with Sion and then play that like bruiser core, maybe throw some Nox's in and then pending on what you're getting more bruises, more invogers, more Nox's. And then eventually you transition into something else where you're going to play like LaSandra Seraphine with Volabare or some people who are like super high rolling playing to like Seraphine and Zee or something like that. But you're not trying to stay in that. And I feel like bilgewater is kind of in that role now, which is you're not supposed to stay in it. - I mean, I think after these bilge changes, they could make MF like actually like overpower now, maybe. - Okay. - Buff end now. - I'm down for the MF Flux Sports. (laughs) I actually played an MF Flux game today, but I ended up just transitioning over to Unar anyways and winning the game there. But, oh, speaking of Backline AD carries, let's talk about Shadow Wild. Shadow Wild is climbing behind the stats. A lot of people are saying these stats don't feel real though. A little bit Soul Fighter like from last set, right? Soul Fighter stats are always looking really good. Everyone kept saying like, ah, you know, not so sure if it's actually real, it might be one of those situational things. 'Cause both Shadow Wilds and Soul Fighter have one thing in common, which is you kind of are snowballing and playing from Winch Creek always, 'cause that's what a good Shadow Wild spot is. You have a Viego too, kind of not, this kind of has to be Winch Creek. - How real is Shadow Wilds in your opinion, Soul List? Is this one of the lines you're willing to play? - It's pretty good. And there's like multiple versions you can play from this. You don't have to play the Warden version. I've often seen people unlock Skarner and play it with Shadow Wild. Like, when you run and run like the four cost RR tanks, then the Warden is usually, and if you miss, for example, you miss like your Peltogra, you don't have to play the Gwynn and Seraphine, you can cut them. Ideally you get Blaschew, if you don't get Blaschew, I feel like these units, no items, no Blaschew, you can cut. And I think a lot of people who know how to play Shadow Wild, are raising the MVP of this comp, it's actually very OP once you hit your board. But then if you were just playing it wrong, that's how to feel like the stats fake, right? 'Cause like, the Converse, I feel that good. You can just miss, and then go completely eighth, but yeah. - Okay, what are your feelings on Shadow Wilds? Or do you feel like it's quite legit? - If this was like my personal feelings on the comps, I'd probably put it like mid to low B. I don't like this line. I think like Viego is like extremely weak stage three. And like playing a bunch of frontline units is just inviting, and playing a front to back home with a bunch of frontlineers all online, it's just invitation for Asal to just get extreme value. Like center Asal just, it just nukes everything. I don't know, and I feel like the items you have to make, 'cause I think like Callista and Thresh are like, actually like pretty item narrow to like actually make them strong. And none of those items are actually good on Viego. Like, like last was for her show, Gid, guard breaker, Voidstaff or L.O.B.T. I mean, the thing is, I don't even think you're making a B.T. onto one, 'cause like the Thresh isn't coming to like, eagerly, and you want like good close items. But anyways, I just think the items you have to slam are like a little weird. And then you also like, this comp like needs the five costs. Like you need the fiddle, you need like the Thresh too. You need a lot of stuff, but then by the time you handle that, you just lose to like anything, and you go third. So, I don't know, like the high rolls go like second or third. The low rolls go six or seventh. I'm out, I'm out. I feel like it's only good AVP because it's like literally like hand holding these players into like what you insta buy, and they're like making less mistakes because of it. So the stats are fake. - Well, they did buff the wardens. The mid game of this feels a little better. So it's something to think about. And maybe that's something we can also transition to talk about, which is brawman, lores do feel better. And I see more people than ever jamming some frail, your nonsense featuring Lesandra. I mean, I see people play the invoker setup. I think we generally prefer Lesandra Seraphine. - Yeah, that comes with it. And it is expensive, but it feels more stable now that you have more mid game options. I mean, lores to actually, lores to actually, I've seen situations where it feels like he tanks as well as tear like these days. I feel like he's actually kind of good. And we're also figuring out positioning new ones with lores. I see more people trying to use his little shove to try and get him in an awkward spot. So putting him in second row, for example, and trying to manipulate melee carries. Interesting stuff coming out from that department. So don't save on this guy. I think he's pretty good. - Yeah, the thing is, I'm Loki Hipster 'cause I haven't played any Lesandra since the patch. Or you have a lot of PB. I have played like the legit zero games of this unit. And I used to play it last patch before the Brawbuff. So I don't know. - You're just, that hints are in general this. So if you're just trying to know what was it. - Okay. - So what are you playing then with your AP Openers win streak? - So a reliant soul. I play a reliant soul and some Seraphine garbage flex. - GG, Seraphine garbage flex. Well, we have Zon Seraphine. Not this one. This one is kind of bad. You're talking about like the, the zero. - Oh, I've hit Apple. - Oh, I wish I was playing Gazeera. I'm usually playing Mel. - You're playing Mel. - What? - Seraphine. - Yeah, Mel Seraphid. I have way more games of Mel Seraphine than I do with Lesandra, but maybe that's just a variance thing. 'Cause I just played on my spot. - Really? I mean, look at the Brawbuff. Okay, at least on this patch. - He's chilling on rank one. - Rank one, 17, 56, not bad. - Wow. - Wanna, wait, you average like a straight two today? - Yes, you did. - I'm looking for Mel. - Here we go, add the filter. - Mel. - It was all like two or three games. - Yeah, it was three games yesterday. - Like, I'm not, I'm not a- - I'm not, I'm not impending like these, but these boards are good. But I just, I'll play it up like I, like I don't know. - Oh, you're playing it a few, a few times a day. It looks like so. - Yeah, but it's kind of sad. You hit Mel 2, he still went third. Or he went fifth with Mel 2 as all. - Yeah, but the, like the thing that I was like, I was probably bot 4 and I was rolling for a list there. 'Cause yeah. - Like the only reason I'm playing Mel is 'cause I got like Incident and Bessa 2 with like Seraphii 2 or something. - I see, I see, I see. - Because you just gotta play. You gotta play what you got. - Okay, okay. Talk to me about some of these other lines then. We talked a little bit about Kaisa, how could be good to stable it. Is, is Kaisa like a good loose streak line now? Because you can unlock it earlier. Like it's like, it can like kind of bail you out from loose streak, but I don't think it's a loose streak line. Because it's not item dependent. You can play both ED and AP. So it's not like you're looking for Bessa or anything, right? So like there's not actually that much benefit to loose-tricking, but if you're already loose-tricking, the fact that you hit your foreclose, like for free without rolling really early helps a lot. So it's like a bailout comp, but I wouldn't, I wouldn't like classified as a loose-trick comp, but yes, you can play it from loose-trick. - One of the comps I also has getting a little bit popular and some motion is playing bar to feel his re-roll, but not with the bruiser front line, playing with the Nidalee Niko, Ishtal, with a bunch of other side characters. Some people are playing Shins Out Loers, but you can totally flex the Shins Out, for example, for other things, another Warden, Tarex, Garner, et cetera. So what do you think about this cup? I know you like re-roll lines. I know you were playing with a lot of bar. Tell me about this cup. It originated in China. - Yeah, this is a parking lot of comp. I feel like if you're playing this kind of, you're just taking the echo player out. It's not, and it actually doesn't cap that high. I've seen it hit like the entire board on like four five, and he just loses every round. Like, and he had like two combat up and two. He's the only open with like a Christmas ticket. But like, yeah, I don't think this comp is really good if you can hit it early. But like, it still doesn't cap out that high. Your main carry is still going to be nearly. This affiliate is all he does. It's like, burn the bow items. And yeah, like, I can't, we have to go like double the image. Like, for example, right? That's why like echo is better, because you don't have to, you know, like worry about like atomizing like affiliates. You can have like APM holder into APM holder. But yeah, this guy is just here to burn bows, I guess. So like, if you have a very good Nico opener, and you don't have any echoes, and you have, I haven't had a much of any of them, I guess you can find a sign. But I think echo just strictly better. Mainly because like cinch, the cinch, nearly into action, it's really OK. And they still have that. We don't have it written. We don't have it shown visually. But I think we did write that you can also position Nidalea and Nico in the center to really mess with their tank positioning. And there's been moments where, so essentially, what you do is, if you notice that people are positioning their tank right here, let's say they're playing solo frontline Wukong with set in the corner, something like that. If the first two targets are Nidalea and cinch, it's going to create some really weird positioning where like they can't attack Nidalea so they move over, but then cinch is running so they're chasing the cinch. And sometimes it just ends up in their own backline. I, one time, was playing a solo frontline Wukong, and then Nidalea and the cinch ran up. And my Wukong ran to my bottom right next to my, my unora. And then I just, and then the echo just like immediately got onto it and then I just died. It was crazy. So there's definitely some manipulation there. More dogs even say it on his YouTube channel that he doesn't like that what it's doing. But right now, that's kind of one tool that you're just supposed to having like echo players do really well. I will say though, the reason why this, even though the five versus his nerf is not nothing, the big thing about it is it feels like a lot of you are playing Niko now. Not only are you contesting against those bar, it's still players. You're also dealing with Asel, pulling the Niko, especially if there's multiple of them. And then you also have some random Trinomere player playing Niko as well. Trinomere got buffed. I don't, I don't think Trinomere is like that good, but if they do, they're also looking for Niko. Is Trinomere good soloist? I've only, I've only seen it do well with RFC. Okay. Yeah, it's playable, but I want to say it's good. If you have a smile for it, like it's playable, but I mean, no respect too much, no respect too much. I will say that Ash feels better in this line than before. I think this is one of those lines where a lot of things to go right, RFC, Trinomere is good, but also it feels like Ash does real damage now. If you can get her go in. That's one thing that I've seen people say. I'm not sure, I've never witnessed it, but the stats also do back that up. Ash is worth itemizing now. Okay, any last stragglers in. Oh, let's talk about Warwick real quick. They did changes unlock Warwick got moved from A to B, just so give me the download on the doggie. I did not realize we stored those items one second. I will be changing. Okay, it should be, it should be Titan. Titans is definitely saying, right? But what is the other thing? Wait, I don't, let me check if it's, because I know it's not BT. I know, like for sure, I think it's supposed to be Titans' Sterex game. Yeah, but the thing is, I don't know if it's Sterex. Like, I'm not sure what it is with the edge and I at change. Yeah, why should I do better in him as well? Yeah, because they, because they buffed edge and I, okay, it looks like it's still the old building. It's still a Titan Sterec, Sterec, Crackin. Oh, Crackin. Yeah, because you, you're just only healing with the, with the build. Well, just ignore that guys. Just so we'll update that. All right, but all right, talk to me about Warwick. Uh, though this soap is Warwick. It's Warwick. I don't know. I thought this would like be more of a Medigame threat because of a. Like, the unlock got easier, some comps got nerfed. And like, we thought like this might be like the best loose streak line now, but the, the problem is like to actually have like a successful Warwick board. You kind of have to make it to like, Kindred, Sena, Shibana, like Ziggs. If you, if you make it to all those on level nine, you're, you're chilling. But like on level eight, we have to play like some, like, sus stuff, like three noxes. I mean, it doesn't have to be Syandraven if you had like Wukong. Like, I mean, you can like, sometimes like Wukong, Yonara and like, like, fit three out of any of, like, I don't think that's that good. But like, you just play any, it's really any quick track or any bruiser and like any drug or not over swain. It doesn't have to be the three noxes. It just like fits kind of well, but you're supposed to drop out of them. But like, the thing is, it's like, usually you're like, trying to greet for Hardbist, which means you're like lower HP. And then you also like need combat, so it's like hard to go nine, but you need to go nine. So it's just like a lot, it's just like awkward because I think if this comp, like, doesn't, if this comp doesn't have premium combat, it's, it doesn't feel good. Like, the only time I, like, actually, like, kind of like this is when I had like, mess hall, solo awakening, stuff like that. I mean, I drop you the hot stat tech. Warwick goes kind of crazy if you put a gunslinger emblem on him because of the, the armor shred. It's pretty nice. Yeah, it makes sense. So if you can find it, let's say you open up Spreading Roots and you open up gunslinger emblem, you're like, who the hell is usually go on? Think about Warwick. Pretty solid. And it's also reasonable to play him like on the Slayers into it as well. You'll realize it kind of fits in pretty nicely, so give it a try. Give him a Slayers, like with Draven, as an opener as an opener. Oh, like Briar opener. Yeah, because you need something to get there instead of just like, well, what do I do until Warwick? So you have a titan's opener, so yeah, yeah, I'm trying to say the opener. You know, you, you, but you basically played this board, but now you have a gunslinger. That's basically because you know, there's no actual gunslinger. Yeah. I mean, gunslinger emblem does does make a lot of sense. Yeah. Okay. Well, that wraps it up. So is there anything else you want to talk about? Some of the, the people at the very bottom, don't play Lawi here on by the way, the build partner actually completely killed her. I think her AVP is 5.9 or something like that, 5.8, absolutely terrible. T-hex diet. Is there anything you want to talk about, Salis? It is a. I mean, this is not a materialist. I don't think it ever will be. Is this one of your pop quiz questions? Because the singed team of hero or like do augment. I think it's like a, someone told me that I was a 6.2 and it might even be worse. Yeah. Poison the poison pals. Yeah. Poison pals. Yeah. I think they added it back and they like reworked it. Oh, wait. Poison. Really? Yeah. I think they added it back. It's a 6.25. It's a 6.25. I do believe I've seen it. Okay. Well, that's the worst unlock or the hero augment in the game then 6.25 Jesus Christ. It's probably bugged honestly because the thing is it actually gives you like, let me see. It gives you like gargity team with three as well. Like it's probably legit bugged like, like there's no way this that's what are like actually like that bad. It's probably bugged. This. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. And if you like play, if you like filter for, oh, oh, wait a second. Everyone wants to be known for something. You could be known as the first player ever to win a game with Poison pals at GM Plus in the world. Yeah. So get to it. 25 games is crazy. No one wants to shut. No. 25 games. Oh my goodness. I can't believe it. I can't believe it. Okay. Before we do our pop quiz, I want to also let people know that there is another section of the web site for the two of this, we have our set for revival festival of these tier list that Solus is overlooking and Solus loves playing all those other game modes like double up and hyper role and revival tier list. So Solus in the quickest way, can you give us like a couple of minute update on set four and where some of the fun comps and where some of the things that they have in charge of the full fun section on TF3 Academy. So like, yeah, this is my specialty. Okay. So at SC we have Spirit Timo. I mean, some awkward that we have in modern time was not there. In the past. So comps that can use these operands, for example, like mess hall, a golem, I mean golem of fire was in at one point, right? Mess hall, stuff like that are really good in these kind of setups. And while we are the units, they're the amount of stats you get for four spirits. So it's still insane. So yeah, these these operands really love to come. You can also go load this and yeah, this is like, this was the strongest comp I believe. The last time said revival was around and I think it's so strong. Yeah. Okay. And the next comp. Sure. So I remember Spirit was really good across the board. Yeah. And then you can go to Nico actually and I like Nico real quick. Yeah. So Nico, we have like the seraphim staff. We have combat story. We have lotus like all these are like insanely OP on a on the Vanguard board. So yeah. Okay. That's like a great tank word and then all the stats are really useful. Okay. Yeah. And then yeah, you can cover like divine care, but yeah, all these comps are really fun. You guys should try it if you guys have like free time you miss the set. Yeah. It's pretty fun. All right. Yeah. I mean, this is the kale that does like the AoE wave when she like, yeah, yeah, she attacks. She does a giant AoE. It's really strong. I was surprised Spirit Z is not up there as well. Spirit Z was a terror last revival. Yeah. Spirit Z is eight here for now because like, I feel like if you miss, got a lot of fight or like, don't move. He's not like, he can retarget it pretty fast. If there's zero fun, like, it's all that, no, the comment, yes, the comment is so OP. You don't need fun. Like, if you remember, like, back then, it's really fun. Like, it's like, you don't need to come like, wow, a zero tank comp. That's crazy. Okay. No, it's very good. Trust me. What is going on in revival that you, like, need goldmify or double fight to play the game? No, you don't need that, but like it enables a lot of comps that, you know, like, usually would not be that strong. I see. I see. All right. Well, these spirit cops are crazy. I remember people would like to play ad apps, like Yone is really strong. Yeah. I know people like playing cultists is cultists here. Yeah. This is cultists. Yeah, cultists. Good. But yeah, the reason why columnify is good because assassins has the same assassin mechanic as like before. So for them to not get targeted, you need a good one, right? And then one of the other favorites that people love, they love every real Yasuo, real Yasuo from the lists and get to Yone as well. So you could play some Yasuo Yone. If it wasn't enough, this set, except if you can also do a set for the Titan changes help a lot in all these kind of melee comps. Oh, Titan Yasuo, Titan Ballista, because you don't get pulled by H.O.K.S. Yeah. I see. Oh, right. His H.O.K.S is the corner hooks. Yeah. Don't call. All right. Do the units still take damage or still get matter from taking damage? Oh, I don't think so. I don't think so. Oh, it's. They change. Did they change like all the meta class as well? Yes. I don't know. It changed the meta class. But I'm sure like it's the classifiers like fighters and tanks. And we shake that out. I don't think everyone's going to hop on set for revival, but some eventually some of you guys are going to get bored. So 16 Lord legend. So maybe you can check out the festival beasts as well. All right. Let's go into our pop quiz. All right. So so far, we're keeping score. Last time, last episode, you guys tied two points of peace. There'll be many more opportunities to get points. So let's go ahead and jump into it. Shall we? Okay. Question number one. Get ready. Type it to me. Level nine costs eight EXP more. That was one of the big topics we had. For this episode. What is the AVP of level nine right now? Just DM it to me. And whoever's closer wins. That's it. Just whoever's closer to the to the AVP of level nine. And just for reference, it's diamond plus. It's only one day in the past. We need a little bit more stats. We usually do masters plus. But for sample size reasons. For all this, we need. We need more. So hit me with it. What do you guys think is the AVP of level nine? I actually have no concept of this. All right. Well, can I can I can I go back on this? Sure. I can't run. Okay. You can lock it in. You can lock it in. All right. About the second answer is unlocked. Okay. So the answer from Solus is a 3.3. Let me shrink this down so that I'm not revealing more text. And the other answer from Solus for dish soap is 3.63. Okay. So this one 3.63. Okay. And the answer is 3.83. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I think it's interesting because it's actually higher than it was last patch. But if you think about it, that actually makes sense. Because if you get to nine, this patch chances are. You're really far ahead. And you should be able to kind of convert that level nine last patch is a 4.12. Wait, level nine last patch or 4.12. Yes. That's correct. Oh, I guess I guess it's just super easy, right? Yeah. It was at that. That's part of what Riot wanted. I guess it was just too easy. So maybe we're going to nine. Yeah. Yeah. So it's like it might as well just be like high threes. I don't know. I thought that people would go lower nine. Yeah. Already in good spots. So I got that. Yeah. There you go. Today you learned. Okay. Second one. So this one. Point to dish soap. Nice job. All right. Question number two. There is currently one unit in the game that averages in the sixes. Who is it? What unit right now in its current EVP is in the sixes this patch so far. I want me missing something. But we'll see. All right. Lock it in. Three. I guess two. One. All right. Disso goes with. Kiana. And so is goes with. TX. Okay. Different answers. Different answers. And the answer is. I think it's a good answer. I think it's a good answer.

Summary:

3, released on January 23rd.

FAQs

The main system change is that leveling from 8 to 9 now costs 8 more gold, making it harder to reach level 9. Additionally, unlockable 4 and 5-cost champions are harder to hit when uncontested but slightly easier when contested, though three-starring them is more difficult.

Aurelion Sol now scales based on damage dealt, allowing for better itemization like full crit builds. Combined with buffs to items like Nashor's Tooth, he becomes powerful immediately upon unlocking, even at one-star, making him a top-tier carry.

Unlock conditions have been eased for several champions: Kai'Sa now unlocks at 7 Piltover units (down from 8), Orianna requires 2 items on any Piltover champion (no longer needing 3), Tristana needs only 1 item component, and Warwick requires 1 item on Vi and Jinx without a two-star requirement.

Their auras now persist even after the champion dies. This is a significant buff for Shyvana, as her aura remains impactful, while for Skarner and Taric, the effect is less noticeable since their teams often lose value after they die anyway.

Opinions are mixed. Some players appreciate it for discouraging fast level 9 strategies, while others find it makes the game feel 'unplayable' without economy augments, as it can lead to being stuck on level 8 while chasing 4-cost units.

Crafting with Gwen's Gifts now provides 18 free rerolls, effectively acting like a prismatic augment. Additionally, the Emblem Ensemble (Ryze encounter) has been adjusted, disabling certain interactions like World Runes to balance gameplay.
