It's looking more and more likely that the Browns will hire externally for their DC vacancy

You just heard from our Olympic correspondent, Meredith Kane, who's also doing double duty on the 2020s and helping produce this thing this morning. You know, we're down to three guys in case you haven't heard as far as the Browns coordinator search, which by the way, can't end fast enough. They are dragging this thing out over the weekend. They did in person interviews. Your finalist for this thing, Corey Unglin, he's the Houston Texans passing game coordinator, Mike Routenberg, same position with the Atlanta Falcons and then Browns, linebackers coach Jason Tarver. Tarver and Unglin both have previous coordinating experience. They've done it before. I'm kind of going on on the limb and saying, I think it's going to come down between Tarver and Unglin. But I remember saying the same similar things about the head coaching search. I thought it was going to be either Shio House or Schwartz. They went with Plan C or I should say they went behind door number three and went with Todd Monkin instead. So I don't know. Maybe that's good news for Mike Routenberg. But we'll see. Keep a lot to your own fan. As soon as there's white smoke puffing from the chimneys in Burial, we'll let you know. This is now day 10 that this has been going on. So we've had almost 35 days since Kevin Stofanski was fired. It feels like it's been a decade. This has not been a fast process at all by any stretch of the imagination. So we've got 85 days to go then. And Jimmy Haslam's timeline that he put out there that the next 120 days about that being important. That was 35 days ago when they fired Kevin and he let that quote out. So we're over a month into their important significant 120 day stretch. 85 days ago. Here is to see what they get accomplished here in the next 85. Well, in those 85 days, we're going to have obviously the combine. They'll begin the process that the pre-draft process, the top 30 visits this time next week. Think about that. The Browns will be descending on Indy Monday next week. I'm feeling pretty confident they will have a defensive coordinator by the combine. Might not have it by the end of the day. I just pick a guy. Just what we call three A who could be who's free next week to meet us in Indy. Huh? Who's free between April and next January? St. Elmo's get us a reservation. You're really looking forward to that shrimp cocktail, aren't you? I'll be down there. Have you had the shrimp cocktail? Have you experienced it? Is the Pope Catholic? Okay. Listen up. Just checking. Just checking. I remember getting Nick Wilson on the, I didn't tell him about the cocktail sauce. I just said, Hey, you got to have the shrimp cocktail. He took him like the rest of us. Breathe the free and clear for a good week after that. It's good stuff. Sticks with you though. But yeah, the combine is next week hard to believe. We will hear from Andrew Barry. We will hear from, I almost said Kevin's to fans. I know. I know. It's a bad, we will. We'll hear from Kevin's to fansky, but he'll be with the Atlanta Falcons. But we'll hear from Todd Monkin. And again, we are hoping that by the time they get to Indianapolis, they will have a defensive coordinator. I really think we should be hoping that by the time our head hits the mill or they're going to sleep tonight, they should have a defensive. I hope so too. Listen, rooting for it, Browns, you can do this. You can do this. You're probably just in the next hour. Can we do it by the time we turn the keys to this thing off to the midday guys. The midday show. Yeah, we'll see. I'm going to say no, that it won't happen by the time. What will happen? I'm going to say that by the time we sit down tomorrow evening at seven o'clock, we will have a defensive coordinator. And if we don't, if we don't, I'm going to be very grumpy. I'm not going to lie. If we don't have a defensive coordinator by Tuesday night, I'm going to get real grumpy because this isn't that difficult. But as we know, the Browns history is the Browns history. Nobody makes the sport of football more difficult than they do. They that that's the reputation. You know, like it is, they're God given gift to, to mate football is difficult as possible. Like you've, you've got tarver in the building and you've had them in the building since 2020 since the pandemic, since before the pandemic, Jason Tarver has been in the building. You know pretty much what he's done. Great job with the linebackers here. You know, worked under Jim Schwartz for three years. He knows the system. He obviously knows the players has a relationship with a lot of the, the, the players that are, that are here right now. Like, but then obviously, has the relationship with Monkett. So, so which, which is more valuable? And I'm going to, I think this is, this is my opinion. I want to stress that this is my opinion. I think it's going to be on. I think they're going to hire a courty on one. That's my, what my gut is telling me right now, which means again, that's very good news for Routinburg and Tarver. I, but I, I, I, I, I, as you said, SHIELD HOUSE. But I, I thought for sure that, dude, I thought for sure that they were going to hire a nation house. I, I was convinced that they were going to hire a nation house and not only did they take a left turn, they took two left turns because they didn't go with Jim Schwartz either, they, they, they went with Todd Monkett. And look, so in this Routinburg is Monkett. If you really think about the finalists, Routinburg is Monkett because he's the, he's the, he's the least talked about of all of these candidates. And the fact that the matter is we're talking about an internal promotion in Jason Tarver. Guy that's done it before. Talking about a guy in Unlin that has the relationship. We heard so much about how AB and the SHIELD HOUSE really hit it off in that meeting that they had in LA, but somehow when they circled the train back here to Cleveland, you got the meetings, they made their decision and it came out and it was like Todd Monkett. And it felt like that was the guy that was talking about the least. No, you know, the entire house is in my view. Nate Shilhausses, Kevin's the Fanski. You think Nate Shilha, you were right. You were just early. Nate Shilhausses, the head coach, they will, they will certainly, if, if Monkett doesn't work out, they can circle back to Nate Shilhauss. Great. I'm glad we've got that to look forward to. Like I said yesterday, could we please give, listen, I'm going to give, please give Monkett 365 days. Well, 365 different 24 hour periods. Rob Chitsinski didn't get 365 days. He did not. Freddie Kitchens didn't get 365 days. He sold a couple of hoodies and he made a couple of good t-shirts, but Pittsburgh started it. He did not make it 365 days. I'll never get to forget that photo with him where he's wearing the Pittsburgh started it. That photo, the lore behind that photo is also interesting to me. Like you could write a book about the 2019 Cleveland Browns. Well, Todd Monkett tried to. There was the video we had talked about this and I know other shows talked about it. The video where Monkett was in Baltimore and he was either doing a coaches clinic, everybody was talking about his, his experiences, coaching and when he got to the Browns, he just, you know, was like, hey, we were our own worst enemy. We created all of our own distractions and, you know, and whatnot and people forget they cut a starting receiver. Antonio Callaway was a starting receiver who was released the day before that Thursday night football game against the Steelers. Everybody forgets about that though because of the basin, Rudolph Miles Garrett helmets went, there's so many that the clown shoes that Jarvis and O'Dell had to change out of the Richard Milley watch that O'Dell was getting paid to wear. Remember handshake gate with Richard Sherman said that Baker Mayfield didn't shake their hands before the game, but then later in the week video surfaced where they did in fact shake hands so then Richard Sherman had to apologize that season. That season was a fire hose of just absolute nonsense. Remember against the Denver Broncos Baker shaved his face like four or five. during the game. Like, yeah. Yeah. Like each day could be its own chapter. Right. Remember Marlin Humphrey choked Odell Beckham Jr. on the football field and the Ravens tried to say that that didn't happen. I mean, at one point, it was a couple of years ago. I think I did this was like a pandemic activity. I went back and day by day through training camp. I started in 2019 when Duke Johnson was having his contract dispute. And Baker said, you're either on this bus or you're off of it or whatever he said. I went day by day. And Baker had to be checked by teammates of you. Right. You don't talk about somebody else's money. Yeah. I went day by day and I documented each day something crazy happened throughout the 2019 season. It was something it was completely unharbleded. Well, it's like what Ken does. He does his running list during the off season of like off season storylines and all that same thing. Same thing. So you stole Ken's bit from him is what you're saying. Pretty much. Okay. And it was complete. It was retroactive stealing as well. I will admit because I had to look back at just how crazy each and every day was. Of that 2019 season because there was a new bizarre storyline one day after the next. I'm in Resa was. Definitely deleted the Cleveland fans. Well, that was a few seasons earlier with the victory bill. The victory beers. That was 2018 because they hadn't won a game and you know, forever. The thing with the with the Pittsburgh started it to you. You're one of the people lined up to get the victory fridge. I wasn't 21. Okay. That was the credit. It's 2018. It's 2018. I was the new one. You said you weren't 21, but you also. Yes. Yes. Kayla. Yeah. Yeah. You didn't say though if you were in line or not. I was I attended that game. No, you didn't. That's not the answer. I was like, were you in line? I didn't ask how old you were. I didn't ask if you attended the game. Were you in line to procure yourself one of them victory fridges? Dude, it's president's day. I don't have to answer any of these questions directly. I could sidestep just like everybody else. Gonna pull the Kevin. Kevin's to fans. He's not here anymore. That's not my phone. But Todd Munkins said something in his opening press conference that he had to immediately clarify about his ego. And I could like when he said it, it took every ounce of my being not to just burst out laughing in the middle of his press conference because I couldn't believe he went there when it came to his ego.
