This week I'm going to talk about how internet trolls make arguments unwinnable.
I think I'm taking a risk on my example this week because of something that may be trivial
to a lot of people, but this is something I really think is important to be aware of
in arguments.
And the video I'm going to discuss is entitled "This YouTuber is Slowly Killing Himself
Reviews" and this is by PenguinZero, a YouTuber by the name of PenguinZero.
Or in the real name, Charlie, made a video arguing over the actions that YouTuber Nikocado
Avocado is slowly harming himself physically and his already negatively perceived image
on the internet.
Nikocado is a YouTuber that posts mukbangs which are food eating videos that generally
entail eating mass amounts of food at once on camera.
Nikocado has significant health issues because of this like weight gain and having to use
mobilized assistants like motorized shopping carts.
Nikocado used to have a more controlled lifestyle in his so-called "vegan days" where people
collectively agree he was in a much healthier position mentally and physically until he
started doing these mukbangs.
These mukbangs are what contributed to his trolling status on the internet.
He was obviously gaining weight from these mukbangs, often filming multiple a day.
He was lying to his audience blatantly telling them that it was just water weight he was
gaining.
Now to most viewers, they see this as clearly being exaggerated.
This is where he became known as an internet troll the most.
He was no ordinary troll as he never broke character.
Charlie made a response to the recent changes in Nikocado's life, which was him becoming
bed bound to an extent.
Charlie's intentions for this video are directly to reason with Nikocado to possibly stop the
destruction he is causing in his life for the sake of recognition and money.
The problem asserting this speech to Nikocado is that he never breaks his trolling persona,
not even for genuine intervention.
The reason this is a problem is because Nikocado will respond with a trolling message such
as defending his actions and saying you have no proof despite video evidence of you slowly
killing yourself and your image, self-dignity, and basically your life.
Trolls who make arguments offer a false stance and people who may see this false stance first
might believe in the most of irrational arguments.
These trolling arguments point out things that either have nothing to do with what people
are arguing about or even starting radical arguments that don't need to exist in the
first place.
Nikocado can be considered to be outside the public sphere because of this, but I honestly
think he is a special exception and that he is nowhere outside or inside the public sphere
and I think almost all internet trolls are like this.
Charlie should not have brought attention to Nikocado as it makes Nikocado's views
of being mistreated by people on the internet look more appealing to the narrative that Nikocado
is trying to narrate for himself.
Treading lightly is the best when dealing with internet trolls as you can easily give
them a platform to offer a fake argument or view that could potentially become a real
view.
Instead, Charlie should ignore the rabbit hole that is Nikocado and instead use that energy
to argue over something that has validity and overall makes sense.
Nikocado puts on a character that creates a fake narrative, thus making fake arguments
that are harmful to the people who are inside and outside the public sphere.
And this is why I think trolls make arguments unwinnable because they are neither inside
or outside the public sphere and when you are neither, you should not make an argument.
