Good morning. Today we will talk about the global index of economic activity, the IGAE, which calculates the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico, the INEGI. The IGAE allows us to know and follow the mensual evolution of the real sector of the economy, which incorporates primary, secondary and tertiary activities. This indicator is important because it shows us the mensual evolution of the economy, even before the figures of the gross domestic product are published. We can monitor the behavior of the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, as well as its components inside each sector. In this way, we can give an idea of how certain events at the national and international level are impacting the different economic activities and provide information to the public policy designers to face the problems that can be presented in the economy, or to enhance certain activities or sectors. In this way, we can predict or calculate impacts that can occur in the employment related to these economic activities, and therefore in the income and well-being of people. For its calculation, the conceptual scheme, the methodological criteria, the classification of economic activities, and the sources of information that are used in annual and trimestral calculations of the gross domestic product, the PIB. This calculation is aligned with the annual figures using a technique called DENTON. The DENTON proportional technique minimizes the differences between the estimation of the trimestral data and the original trimestral data subject to the average of the trimesters coinciding with the data of the annual calculation. The IGAE offers an opportunity, complete and coherent vision of the evolution of the economic activity of the country, providing important information to support the decision making. It is elaborated using the same conceptual and methodological framework used in the calculation of the accounts of goods and services of the National Countries System of Mexico, complementing with the manual of trimestral national accounts, concepts, sources of data, and compilation of the International Monetary Fund. It is important to note that the calculation of the trimestral gross domestic product and the monthly calculation of the industrial activity indicator use the same methods, the same classification for economic activities, and the same sources of information that have a great monthly opportunity, guaranteeing the compatibility of indicators. The global index of economic activity, the IGAE, uses the System of Industrial Classification of North America, the SIAN, which allows us to carry out comparisons with the statistics of our partners in the Treaty of free trade of North America. Now, Temeca. I invite you to know this important indicator on the official INEGI page and be aware of the evolution of the economy and its different sectors and activities. By means of the IGAE, we can also take into account the health of our economy and know if we are at an expansion or economic contraction stage. Until next time.
