IL PASTICCERE CHE HA ROTTO LE REGOLE | Tommaso Foglia — Meet The Masters Ep.2

He muistelevat LAP-tapahtumia, joissa on kohdattu kuuntelijoita perheineen, ja korostavat yhteisöllisyyden merkitystä.

This might have been Silver-Rillion first time version one. Yeah, boy V1 Right, and I was like hey bros Just got to get past the first 100 pages No way and then it starts clicking hard. No That's amazing you said that where we are now. Yeah, so close. We're so close So like yep for my first once you get to like middle earth with everyone. Yeah It just starts clicking boom boom boom. What's crazy? We're almost there. I just said that on the last episode I was talking about that. I'm like we were like falling into the plane. I was just like okay kind of vaguely remember this part And I remember waking up from me listening to it going like oh heck yeah Like like we're with air and I'm like I kind of know who these guys are who's just fella? Thinggle. What's he doing with Melian like okay? I mean I started to get I started to get all the the lay of the land You know and man it does the the drama man It is he is app you're absolutely right so make crazy because we started it De-reout ourselves what we do. So we do it was scripted it was in the stars But had we have seen that had we have seen that because again it is It's actually buried again since we free opened it I'm Honestly, I know today. I was like no day. But we go and search Matthew Johnson probably we could have yeah Yeah, yeah, I'm always I'm always worried that I'm always hey hey watch you quickly. Please. He's a longer cord dog I'm always worried though like I go through that thing and there's so many that I'm like Mm-hmm. I need to organize this in folders. I'm like who have I read who have I not and so it's sort of like intuition This coming from the guy who's like hey Lane hey Lane just for future reference if it's in the by-water post red we've read it Okay, I mean and if it's not it's a pretty simple thing we had to kind of put that like system Doesn't it doesn't explain ones that are still in the inbox that we don't know if they're freaking red or not, bro Well, sometimes I may have forgotten exactly You know, so it's like it's like there's the confession here's the thing It's like we're mid episode and it's sort of like I didn't put the by-water post in our you from Colorado because now I'm starting wonder about you okay? Okay? Yeah Do welcome to the Rocky Mountain high Okay, I want everyone to know I did question Matthew There was an entire a down spy a person interrogation and we did an interrogation. He has been vetted and he is he is approved for this podcast I am What am I now like a third-level department of defense head or something? Actually, actually apartment of shared offense private security like sheriff. Oh, he's master sheriff. Yeah, he's definitely he's definitely garden Garden the borders. I mean like a bounder like I'm telling you when we talk about like top secret stuff on this pod Bro there ain't many people who know I mean like like this is like I What would you even call it? What's like what you know you think about like top secrets at gondor like Something like that. I mean something like smog Dungeons of gondolin. Yeah, man like the bidden jewels That does tie into some of the That ties into some of the forbidden Rocky Mountain oysters Good God, okay, okay, just alright Man, all right like anyway. Sorry. Yeah, do you really do really yeah, this podcast is scripted? That's cool, but yeah, this has actually been fascinating though I I actually am kind of dumbfounded sitting out here earlier on it's like I was like we got to like at least capture Yeah, this moment the hand the actual main feed. Yeah, you know what I mean to some degree because it's just been It's been so good the moment I walked in and met Matthew sort of like this is awesome and and for for some history I guess like lore of the podcast when we were in the hobbit actually is when Matthew was on it was a live stream Lodding I were doing kind of is when we first sort of like you know started talking and you were in there like every like it was It was so cool because I was like I'm not hoping this guy's back on open You know we get to talk to somebody it was pretty cool. We were just having a blast just trying to keep the you know community going and we were kind of You guys I think Vigo Yeah, yeah, yeah, we might have been in the ICU actually I see you okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, cuz I know like Laudie. I kind of brought her on. That was baptism by fire I finished the hobbit that was Rose I couldn't believe she did it. I was sort of like thank you. This is awesome I had other people on but again that's around the time where in which I started you know talking to math You know I thought this is this is a good dude because you really had a laughing and we had some good times That was actually because a lot of you was like you know who is this guy and that was the reference I gave her and I'm like She's oh my god that was actually so in the apartment we did the thing and she she should a really good memory with it And been listening since 20 summer of 2018 right so night of the year a year old and and yeah and in in in a huge way I think you saved the community of of of uppers. Yeah He doesn't want to hear he doesn't want to hear you shaking his head no But I remember like when you and I left like the Facebook group kind of thing or whatever and we came back And I was like oh my god. Thank God like people are back in your I left the back door. This is the thing I that was foresight man. I'm sorry. Wow full circle there Sorry, there's a lot going on. There's a lot of stuff going on here behind the scenes but Yeah, honestly, it's weird way to put it, but I mean I left myself a yeah kind of secret route Yeah, we got tied to the habit. What was the secret passageway? Yeah, the secret passageway Dorens door No, that's not no. What was it? I've never read that habit. What is this? The rings podcast. Yeah, how many times we said that it's a door in the sky. Yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, we had the moon ruins. We found our way through it Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, what's it just door in instead of Door in this is the door this is the door inside. Okay. This is how you get in there. That's definitely what talking was Yeah, that's what he was thinking. Oh But man like I got back in that Facebook. I was like I was worried we were gonna get back in there because We had like let it go to the weeds. Yeah, and Or the wolves or the world. You got a mastermover here We got it back a win in there clean the head found out most it was already trimmed up for me though So it's like okay, it's a man scaped ad this is a They're coming back I love that as the gold player. They're like we love going back in here in single as talking about man's Oh my god, was that an ad or was that a dating profile? Wow hello in middle earth mingle is now sponsored by man scaped never got my lawnmower We never did never got it. I hate to be like rap a Advertising do you know I was looking forward to them like I'm sorry, but this is part of the ad the bald yoder I was like wait, that's it. Oh my god. I was in the package Package full circle like hello. I mean you know saying like by the way genius Man scape is just a genius branding their whole thing. I thought maybe it might have been you want to shape up the lbpt and give it a little That's what we ever want this podcast no sure That's what it is maybe cut it off all the way although that's kind of against your religion though, right? No, not necessarily. Okay, no I'm a great the braid is though correct. It has to be braided Yes, and wrapped to go to church. It's got to be braided and wrapped up top. It's a triple braid right? It's not a double. I'm all about the power of three. So it's got the triple. Yes, but it's got to be north of the crack though Right you can't go to church with it hanging out the back um I thought that was a stipulation. Well it depends on which ceremony Okay, okay, you know, you know, I've been here in like the latest style as you gotta let it go a little bit more Okay, no more wild. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what the young folk are doing. Okay, you know any main It's crazy. Yeah, I grew up in a generation where in which we was more tame part We were more private. We're more private about these things business in the front party in the way back Wow, I think is what you know, I don't even know every time they'll be every time this comes up I don't even know the abbreviation LBPJ and blah, but whatever it's called like whatever the thing is on the back like yeah I think you're like yeah Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what what what what did I walk into what I didn't know about okay? Sorry, LBP T Yeah, that's what it is. I was saying I don't even know what it is. I I don't remember when this became a thing Link to starts talking about this. I show up to LAP - I walk in here and I've got people as I walk past I could feel them like Turn and check does he have it is there a bulge in the back like The amount of L abbreviations and LBT T2 and I can't even do it at LAP - yeah, oh, yeah, dude We're feeling good. Oh, it's amazing. We're feeling good. I just yeah, it's like an unexpected reunion. It is it really is and it's our first meeting like Yeah, we talk about so the the girls were really They're they're fast and they're like what was when he was telling Vigo. She's like Vigo Matthew Johnson is dad's friend. He's coming here the friends and they've never met Isn't that so weird and I'm like it is so like and Jake and I have talked about this Sarah put it. She was like Jake is your pen pal I'm like right. It's yeah, yeah kind of and it's just so amazing anytime we it happened to ton of LAP 3 Yeah, yeah, I think it's really cool because we were talking about Matthew like long time listener almost down here from the beginning Yeah, and then to come out and be like hey, I'm gonna make sure these guys know that I appreciate what they're doing I'm gonna be yeah, yeah, how we had a whole wave of that at LAP 3 like people that There were some returning faces, but most of them were people that we had either heard from but never certainly never met Yeah, it's such a crazy thing like a new wave of Of people and friends that we've met, but it's just a wild thing like and it's hard to explain to people like I remember Yeah, you know talking about at work like I've got a friend coming over spring break They're like oh, how do you know I'm like well? He started as like a a list turns become a really great friend And yeah, never met him actually he just kind of a creeper right? Don't worry and that was like I was like what did I was like Matthew? What'd it do? What's your wife? about, you know, what would you tell the girls? Like, what do they say about you coming out here? - Yeah. - And it's just like, it's one of those things where you're like, it is, I think probably not the norm, but it's such a beautiful, what would have happened a ton back in the day? You would have had correspondence. - Yes. - No, it'd be like, I can't wait to meet this friend that I've written to forever. And it's very like old school modern, which is. - We just didn't have like a letter of introduction. - Right. - Like back in the day. - Right, yeah, that's really, that's really it. But it's a beautiful thing, man. - The cool thing is like, everybody who we've really, like met in terms of people that are into Tolkien, if you're really, really into it, deep into it, honest to God, it is hard to find somebody who is a little Craig right. I mean, they're there, okay. - Yeah. - He put like, - Present company excluded. - You're right. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yeah, sure, sure, sure. - But it's like, it's so amazing to me, 'cause like again, going back to that, just people that we had coming from, the Ripley's from India. - Yes, dude. - Unbelievable. Didn't know these people at all, and Lily coming in the clock. - We made them clock. - Yeah, it's so cool. - Add something to the table of food, such sweet people. - Beautiful people. - Wonderful. - All dressed up as hobbits. - Yeah. - I was literally mind blown. So anyways, yeah, it's just fantastic. And it makes sense, is what I'm saying. It just makes sense. You know, when you come together like that, 'cause I'm actually flying out this summer, and maybe seeing Jake. - Yeah, I know. - Jake, I don't know if you're listening, by the way, it is confirmed. - You're gonna meet him before I knew who. - Which is nuts. Which is so nuts. And I hate to do that to you, but I was sort of like, I mean, I love him. - I gotta tell everyone, Lane is crying right now. - Yeah, it's a cheer. - Jake, wait for me. - I'm here to. - Yeah. - But hey, Jake's gonna be fine. - I'm happy, I'm not happy for him. - He is, he's gonna come stay in the house, dude. He's staying in the house. - That's freaking sick. - I know, we gotta get that better. - Remember we had people pitching tents on the backyard. - Oh, and more ways than one, buddy. Let me tell you, wow. We had to desadulate that backyard. There's still a stain out there. - Oh, good. - There is a spot where nothing rose. - You know who you are. - There you are. - Oh, gee, many grits, minutes. - Oh, anyway, okay. - No, but kids are welcome. So, and families are welcome. And yeah, we're not responsible for some folks. We will kick them out, though. - Wasn't it kid, LAP4 was so. - Oh, yeah, I mean, that was the one thing that I love. - People were surprised by it. And I'm glad pleasantly so. It's like, you know, to retake our families and children around these rascals. And it's like, I think people, they step back in there. These are family guys, man. Like as rascals, we get in this kind of setting. - They love us teach kids, okay. - The bro's hanging out. We all gotta cut loose. It just so happens that, you know, when we cut loose sometimes thousands of people listen. But like, you know. - Yeah, yeah. - We love having whole families come. I love meeting, you know, whether it's a listener's husband or wife or kids or cousins or father. We've had fathers and children and, you know, mothers and daughters come. - Like, you know, we know John and then Elena. - Sorry, well, yeah, no, no, John Elena. - Right, same. - Again, like probably knew John more corresponding with him on Instagram and Elena. Like it shows up as fucking phenomenal people. - Who would they listen to us gab? And I'm like, man, Elena's gonna be poor out of her mind. It's like, no, she's, she's having a good time too. Oh my gosh, somebody, somebody friends. It's crazy. - It's really fun. - Yeah. - I think it's just the spirit of, of talking the fellowship. Fellowship, you know what I mean? - Oh yeah. - The friendship and stuff. - So to bring it back for a, for a, for a circle. Get the fur out. - Come on. - No, I'm gonna talk about LBPT. Come on. This man I think deserves a lot of that credit. So if you, when you meet faster in the flesh, when you meet Matthew Johnson in real life, just give him a big hug, he'll hug you right back. Well, should I, should I, is that, should I, okay. - Oh, I got it. - Yeah, I mean, I did. I saw him and I'm like, bro, get over here. I said, welcome my lord. Dude, I have the, that's the man to hug you. - He hopped that back fence three times. He did, he came up, gave me a hug. It was a, it was a beautiful memory. - The kids were all, the kids were all out waiting. And the same way they were like, when's Uncle Les come today? When's Uncle Les come today? I'm like, I don't know guys. They were like, when's Matthew Johnson come? When's Matthew Johnson? - Yeah, so give him a hug and tell him thank you because we owe you a lot brother, for sure. - Yeah, for sure. - And we're thankful for you. So, yeah. So, Silmarion, we are, we are, onion, Silmarillion, we are deep into it. We're getting there, we're getting past that 100 page mark. - Here we are. - I will say surprisingly though, I have enjoyed this, this run up. I've enjoyed, like, it's been so different from everything else. And at the same time, I'm amazed at how many times we get these direct references, we're talking, it's like, oh, by the way, this ties to Erragorn, or this ties to Elrond, it's coming. And this is the thing, gladreal is here. There's all these connections to the main story that are just mind blowing. - Yeah, yeah. - But yeah, we're in the thick of Silmarillion, it's kind of crazy. And we wanted Matthew to jump on and talk. What do you want to talk about some, dropping steves, dropping eaves? You want to talk about like, show stuff, movie stuff. Stuff that's happening. A lot of stuff going on. Let's talk, you've had some thoughts for rings of power. - Well, no, I was, yeah. - You're the hotline. - That was a joke, right? I hit the cry, I was like, - You're the hobbit hotline. - No, no, you know what? You know what? - Come on. - Hey, we can stand up and do comedy right now. - Wait a second. Are you, you're a comedian? - I got a routine. - Are you serious? - No. - Oh, man, could you imagine? - I didn't know that. - Do you know my routine? - Yeah, let's hear it. - Have you guys ever heard mine? - Have you ever seen mine? - No. - Let's go sign, Phil. - Okay. - Okay. - There we go. - No, I got that. - What a fight. - Hey. - Let me talk. - Let me talk. Okay. - This part of the routine. - Why was, why was the tomato blushing? - Why? - Because it saw the salad. - That was ketchup dressing. - Oh, wow. - Come on guys, that's what I'm going. - Oh, that's a stat. - Hey, that's pretty good. - We got a new father here. - Hey, hey. - Welcome to the club, buddy. - Let me follow it up. What do you call a cow with no legs? - Stake. - Ground beef. - What do you call a cow with two legs? - Lean beef. - Double beef. - Guys, thank you. I had to get one. I had to get one legitimate out of lane. I had to. God dang you. Okay, so that's my reason. - Mag, mag. - No, I'm not going there. - Yeah, you know what I used to do that routine? - Yeah. - I played the banjo. - Was this open night, Mike? - This was like when we had to switch tunings and stuff. Like I'd be up there and they're like, "All right, talk to the banjo player." And I was over there just like making up jokes. That was at school sweating, like looking up jokes. It's like, I didn't mind playing a banjo lick. I didn't know how to, you know, I played a banjo I didn't really know how to play, you know? But I was like, okay, the jokes were the worst part. 'Cause some of them would just be like, people just crickets and I was like, man, this is bad. - You think the jokes are bad? Stick around for the banjo, guys. - Yeah. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - That could have been your closing first. - No, seriously. - Oh my God. Although I tore it up. - I did some mumpert and suns, uh, I should get the banjo back. I've always wanted you and my dad to do dueling banjos. Oh, banjo guy. - But a ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding. - Well, maybe not that. I meant just like playing at the same time. - Oh, okay, I didn't mean like, "Foesal Lovers." - That is actually dueling banjos though. - We don't want deliverings, go. I don't want none of that. None of that. - We're almost in the right area though. - Of the United States. - Yeah. - Anyway. - Well, it's not, it's just dark. - That's dark. - That's dark. - So let's get more. - Yeah, yeah. - We're at home tonight, you know. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Ring is a power. - Now is this serious? Do you have a question? - Oh no, I had a confession. - Let's go home. - Okay. - I want to hear you guys hear my confession. I'm in the studio. - I'm meaning it. - You know, this is like confessional. - Should we close this? - Maybe. - Like I don't know, well actually you guys will like this. - You guys will like this. - Okay. - I am, I never finished season two. - Wow. - I just, I was out. - You just stopped. - I just stopped. - When did you stop? - Like, it's like, I can't remember. Was it the ball sack of a reggae on? - I don't even think I got, I didn't get there. - Wait, what's going on? - I didn't get there. - He doesn't even know that reference because he's-- - No, no, I know it from the ball. - The ball. - The ball. - Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - No, I didn't get there. I swear the last one I saw was the end, was like scooping up a-- - A rondyr. - Yeah. - Wait, why didn't he film, what was that? - Wait, what was that? - The sense he said it was, oh my god. - That's so funny. - I'm terrible. I'm like the worst person to have on this podcast. - I didn't even finish it. - No, no, no. Actually, to be honest with you, that qualifies you should be getting up to-- - That's a power expert, actually. - Can we get Corey Olson on the line? - Corey? - Let me tell you my deep thoughts on the season finale. - You're the only thing you should maybe just go watch the ball rock scene. - I've heard you guys talk about that. I mean, tree. - That's the only thing you should probably go watch. I think I was like-- - That and also the scene where Gladiary and Sarron fight. And she says, "Go heal yourself." - Oh my god, oh my, the cringiest-- - The world, the world. - The world. - The world. - It's comedy, dude. It's actually so many guys. - I asked him, I'm like, are you excited for season three? And he's like, dude, I got a confession. I'm gonna say it for the pop. And I was like, I am because just of the spectacle. I'm so excited. - It's huge. - It's huge. - It's like the big story I was telling you, that's the big story now, the big leak on season three is an orc companion. - Oh. - Will a company, Gladiary, a little rondeer in season three, tune in to him. - Now, it's like, what? - That's okay. - Okay, okay. I hate to be, you know, this is how a three dog-- - I am so sorry, but like, where anywhere, any of Tolkien's writings, anywhere, show me one. And I mean, I will say, absolutely my bad, I will eat crow. - It's in the new shadow. It's a love triangle. - Is it really? - It's a love triangle. - You didn't read letter 899? - Was this, was this Morgoth secret ring? Or what? I don't know, you know what I'm saying? Like, Morgoth secret fling more like I think. - Flling, okay. - I heard like, I had no clue. - And I think the subtext is like, she's going to kind of fall in love with New York. - Or kiss, Gladiary. - I think, well, there's some sort of kissing going on. - 'Cause in every episode, somebody's tried. - Someone's trying. - I'm sorry, every season, excuse me. - Well, almost every episode though. - Did you see the Elrond kiss? You didn't see it. - That was a season one, right? - No, season two. - Season two. - Season two, I think. - So you heard us talk about it. - I did. - Yeah, you probably had like a, yeah. - It was for the key, man, don't worry. - Dude, I feel so bad. I just couldn't, I just, I just got bored. - And I was like, I'm out. - Yeah, you're not alone. - I'm in a lot of people. We're contractually obligated to watch every episode and paid to watch it. Yeah, no, but like I need I need to catch up So I can be fluent in hotline. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's homework We'll put it on him. He was all right. Yeah, he is a he is a hotline faithful dude. I love that man Once I remember we were getting messages all the time from Matthew Like when's the next hotline boys? One's not a great though. Those were fun there so much fun the cool thing what other talking podcast does that is I Rick it's no one. Yeah, I don't think anybody does, but you don't be really cool is coming up for like the shadow of the past or Hunt for golem. We're gonna run it before those We're gonna run it. Oh, yeah, for sure like leading into it and then maybe after after the premiere like the premiere like premiere night We go watch it the next night, but a being baby hotline like I'm telling you I'm actually super excited for that Yeah, so we'll get there, but anything else I'm trying to think on so there's an or yeah, who is a good guy? We don't know he must be he must be oh Is there he's David the York the guy who with the family the kid? What did I call that guy? Oh, yeah? Oh my god? Oh my god. He's got the family. He's just trying to find a home He's a homeless orc Abraham. Yeah Abraham. Yes, dude. Let my people go. That was Moses my Go back to Bible school. Yeah, I know the pen to talk So anyway, yeah, um, yeah, we'll see. We'll see what comes of that. Yeah, anything else. I mean you know, okay, there's nothing else I feel like I just shut down the No, it's actually no, it's great. So Matthew you know my big grievance with the time compression the time can Put on those compression socks and we still quick that was so good. He's so I was thinking about natural Which what is he not like? He's in natural. Yeah, so like I Have to say this again. I was thinking about this people I look back at us going through season one Yeah, and I remember just to be very clear sure I specifically and when if you said time compression I didn't really know what you meant now I was sort of like be careful because Andrew Hill will fact check I know he will plus like actually is I love that he came to LAP three Like literally what do we call it work of art or master master? I think it's one word. He pulled out the receipts. Yeah Yeah, he bought him out and I was sort of like dang. I mean and again Beautifully shot for two episodes. I was still kind of locked in. I didn't know what they meant by time Compression you know what I mean? And I was still like part of me is thinking I don't think they ever said that I think you're the one who brought that up and they were I feel like you coined that term you did Did I okay? I believe they never said like we're doing time compressions. It's you who said it I blow really okay I'm gonna take that copy right. Thank you. Oh, that's right. Well, but like again It's like it's like you have a Lindell and you have Caleb Rembor and I didn't quite know if that you know who knew I thought they were gonna do like three episodes Is like because they started the first two way back in the first age kind of stuff Okay, okay, okay, maybe they're gonna keep it there and we're not gonna get into this and then it was like as they were introducing A silver or I'm thinking maybe they just keep that maybe it's sort of like they're just not tongue when glad you'll shows up there I'm like when he goes with her. I'm like Okay, and then I then you introduced me to Talk to the tango dollars like it was gone master that it was gone from there. That is a masterpiece actually that was a master Yeah, but again just as a recap that was really my progression in terms of like Five years of hyping a show. Mm-hmm five years of hyping a show. Mm-hmm, and I'm like and I also can't believe that I'm so hyped for shadow the past That's okay, which I know you know, we're gonna we're gonna we might do it out here. Yeah, he's gonna be the He's gonna be the referee. He's gonna have to show us that I You like my last episode where I was talking about good cup bad cop. Have listen to it That is because who this who this that is because I didn't finish his episode and that is why I heard that I yeah So cool dude, did you hear at the end of that? I did a Susie Millhouse said it she was 42 minutes in it was the greatest ADHD Ranshies I've ever heard but that's fine. You know, you don't have to yours are mine. Oh mine. Okay. I don't think you're ADHD Do you know no your way to focus? No, I mean I got a little crazy. I don't know you can be persuaded by me. Yeah, I think like crazy man syndrome I mean yeah, you think you think you rub off on me No comment Can we keep this up? This is an explicit reading. This is bad. Do I influence you? Of course, I do you are such a You influence me you know together. I was good influence or bad influence. I don't let's put a pull up Let's put a poll you always want polls is Laney good influence or a bad influence We went we went there we would there dude. I want to cry to my pillow tonight Left shoulder right shoulder Actually just depends on the day. I mean yeah, she's talking to me at the same time and I'll miss it together Oh, yeah, um no, but uh, yeah your episode I'm getting there. Yeah, yeah, go ahead. They'll tell me to do a spoiler alert Oh, no, it's actually I just I'm glued yeah, I alluded to I was like hey, you know like I mean I was a little I'm getting a look-sighted you are excited. I think it's good. I'm getting a look-sighted I was like let's talk let's talk about it. I want to see what Matthew has to say about it. I'm for girl. I'm first I'm for girl. I'm not for this fine. Yeah, what are your thoughts on hunt for golem? Vigal Mortensen is not returning. It is official now. No, it's not yes. It is who said Elijah would no He did not has confirmed that Leo Woodall is playing young That's fine. I don't think it's that's fine. That does not think it's I know I know they're not mutually exclusive I am telling you in this case though. They are I will not spread falsehoods on this podcast. I will not do that again Today not after the masterpiece comment. I will not last night. You're not on spring break. Okay, so you don't have the right to know Okay, if I go I am glad. Well, that was rude. I'm sorry. You're mad. You're bad influence on me. I know Just think about how successful you'd be if you were to hit your wagon to another Decorals and turd. Yeah, so we were on another lane Yeah, you know switch lanes you'd have been all right. Oh wow. It's just the passing lane So we were I sit around the fire and Matthew he's we're talking is like are you an all-or-nothing kind of guy? And I'm like Whoa good question good question and we both kind of landed on the fact that we both are like all or nothing Okay, yeah, I actually after what you said about the Hobbit and never the I can kind of see it I think Vigo Mortensen is an all-or-nothing guy. Oh, I don't think he's gonna be like oh, I mean, I think he he's very collaborative too But I think it's in weird territory where I think Leo Woodall is The airgromer scene in this movie. I don't know I do too. I do too. I don't know if we're getting Vigo Mortensen back I hope I hope that we're getting something Vigos in this as a voiceover. I hope so or as the old king. Okay, I hope so last year hunt Yes, right the concept the artwork that yeah, what a released I mean they are eight years ago. That's that's what we're doing. I have he will not be young I know he will not be the young air, but I'm afraid though. No, no, but I don't think he'll come back I think I'm afraid that they would In their Hollywood way which they have like progressed to be a little more Hollywood I think they'd be like the audience is just gonna find a little confusing Like Vigo's voice and you know they've got like this young, you know In the gods, I think people are gonna throw an awful little bit might and I don't know that like it wicks All right, I Oh god, I hope they I pleaded that you know, I've only if they hear this you want doom on me, bro You want to come after no, I literally want to get rid of that is for the sake for the sake of this project for the sake of Hunt for go. I legitimately hope they hear a fraction of what we say because I am like begging Begging that they do some of these I am too. I hope that they are holding this secret. Okay, let me give you an example I'm giving example, right when Star Wars came back and it was force awakens. Yeah, the actual best trailer I've ever seen in my life. Yeah, is the opening teaser. It's the teaser trailer Not even no, not that one. This is the good one. This is where There was a tumble tea you bad boy. I've got one of the chamber. Don't worry for it I listened to your quick your drop in ease. Listen to me. Okay, the best this is what they could do for hunt for go And it would literally put butts in seats at theaters like we've never seen before crack them seats. So In that trailer for the force awakens it the opening line is Mark camel my father the force is strong in my family. Oh, it's this echo echo echo And I mean chills on my body to this day when I see it. It is one of the greatest trailers ever The cardinal sin in that is that Mark Campbell's not in the dag on movie He does just so so hopefully so hopefully it's not foreshadowing to the What side are you arguing here? He knows the trailer, but he is not in it. That would be absolutely terrible. I don't want that Um actually take the back. He wasn't okay. Take the back. Mark. It was at the very end and the cliffhanger kind of thing I got an as question here. Yeah, yeah first 15 minutes hunt for golem There's no Are you walking out? No, he's not gonna walk out. No, but because I'm holding on to something I'm holding on to some years He'll still I think you're trying to put up with it. I think you're still trying to put up the best listen to me This is what they can do. I'm gonna take over this podcast right now. All right. Listen to me. You're in a power position I'm in a power position between the next quarter. I'm standing like Okay, they they could opening 15 minutes. They could jump right into young air going hunt in the woods moving around like you know Legolas freaking running through the thing. You know, whatever yeah like and then it's just golem like you know freaking out trying It could be Open I mean they did that okay. They're known for that too. They they those cold openings that they have yeah Yeah, so something like that. Okay. Okay. Okay, and then but if he's not I will say if he's not in it to any degree whatsoever Even I even said even director on camera something yeah, yeah, involving if he's not in it at all to no degree I will be highly disappointed. I really will be I mean in head for them. I just think no I don't I don't think I can make that distinction. Okay, good. I really don't think I can't I mean only because you just you would lament the fact yeah That's I'm not disappointed in any For a year ago. Yeah, I'm not disappointed in him or them. I mean again, I missed opportunity. I respect him I love them all and I hope that living you know, I mean, it's just like it's just as a fan It's one of those things you know where like they people get judged. I'll probably I want to see it more than you know, I don't do you look dude? You need a poll you need a poll fired you want shot fired Do you hold me back Kurt Jones? You're you're clipping out I'm clipping out are you so you really do you want you want the Vigo thing to happen? Dude, okay, I just want to put him on the spot. I want to hear it. I want Vigo Mortensen back is Eric Warren more than anyone I want written in Audio stone. Oh god. There's nothing I would please it would be like when you saw Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker again Yeah, yeah, but he thought oh my god. I think probably the only other thing you could have what we're seeing young Obi-Wan You know in a series like yeah, he's my guy dude. I would like so it maybe there is a part of like I'm trying not to get I know I'm not to get hurt. I don't want to get hurt Because I'm tingly you talking about this. But you know, I can see it actually your words of Jim shorts Because listen to me. Yeah, because I know how much I was too much you know Beacon out so there is that I mean I'm at the the I'm too much volume. I'm not too much volume. But But again, I can also sometimes I worry that like if somebody from the crew cast and crew Let's just forgot they like these are the most deranged hobbits. We've ever heard in our life And actually I'm proud of that and I'm so proud that we can't hear people on like Matthew who are a part of them because we've had people for when he's a power Reach out be like I know we're on the thing you know, they Anthony grumbless. Sorry. It was amazing. That's part of that show best part of that show The handsome but but like Yeah, I'm so excited though that you are To hear you say that and actually one of my heart more than you realize good because I know I knew that I knew I Mean I knew it you've never said it you've just never said it and I'm like I wanted to hear you say it like I don't think it's Going to have I don't think they trust audiences like they once did and yeah, it is the right move And if you're gonna recast again, it's fine. So let's hand up a way we do need to hear this. I'm sorry to take this guy Just man the king of the cast lover. I got to leave it 10 o'clock. It's 10.50. I see the sweat. It's coming. I love when he gets I'm locked in I got he's walking it back where we're locked in at this point. He was a time slip. I'm sorry. Sorry. I'm so sorry And Matthew Johnson guy is a Matthew Johnson effect. Okay, now Matthew Johnson hold on time as a flat circle All right, all right. Oh Yeah, I think I read your development see how dumb as I don't know I believe in you. I don't know I believe in you. Okay now. Yeah, my thoughts I'm for gone. What do you think of what he's feeling allegedly? It's two movies right now too. Okay, so Leo Woodall is coming back as a young Erie Gorn. We have ATJ who is gonna be Arwen on your Taylor joy. I love her. We've got Kate Winslet coming as a gilf Grandma heard about this dude. It's gonna be the grandma we'd love to see or possibly Gilrain Erie Gorn's mom that'd be cool. So Tino Tino our buddy Tino Huge shout out because he said if we get Kate Winslet as Smegel's grandma what we get to see the egg sucking scene So he just said there's a there's a deep cut from the riddles and golem says his grandmother's the one who taught him how to suck eggs On Tino. I love you dog. That's what most grandmas do, you know, yeah, and I'm thinking suck eggs. Wow. There's a level there that we shouldn't get it. I'm telling you man. I never a thousand years thought we'd be talking about Snake with great Winslet said suck eggs to you. It's insane. I'm going just for this. I'm going like, yes, ma'am. This might actually make it. Yeah, this might actually make up for all of the Copy race Drake we got five seconds for that. Yeah, okay. All right. Um, okay, so my my thoughts are they're intertwined with all the films all the projects. Yeah, yeah, I Hate the idea. Let's go back to the third age. Mm-hmm. What are we doing? Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Yep. What that? What are we doing? Yeah? Like what do you think what do you think the motivation is like getting an old your very analytical person? It's how about your sub stack too before at the very end. We're no, we're doing that. People need to read what you're doing And what you're going to do, but what do you think the motivation is? It's it's clearly what you guys have talked about in nostalgia or it's just it's like brand Yeah, identification or even like retention to like keeping the IP or whatever it's a total IP thing like the end all for you. You loved them then. Yeah Still love them 25 years later. Whatever. Yeah um and and What you said where it's like if it was 2006 whatever this made a lot more sense But What what drives me crazy and I I don't know anything about the rights all this stuff. I'm as Lane knows. I'm very not online Yeah a little bit about you. Yes I will never understand Why they're they're picking at the bones here When the first stage in the Silmarillion exists. Yeah um and I've thought this for a long time. This is like this is my big thought and I know there's Well, no, no, no, I keep it. Yeah, but Why why are we not doing some sort of anthology film series or anything related to the stories in the Silmarillion? They are flushed out. They're intense. They're they're incredible like for me it's um turrent Yeah, that's the story. It's tokens Romeo and Juliet you would have to do yeah, literally zero Adaptation to that exactly you could take it. It's there. This is the script. Yeah, now is it too dark And messed up and twisted for modern audiences maybe but like but then that's kind of them That's what people are into Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like Game of Thrones all this stuff coming up real edgy Um, she was your sister, bro. Yeah, it wouldn't even be a problem. No exactly after the Targaryen It's like yeah, you know, you support probably so I just don't understand why we're doing like you know You guys we're spending all this time talking about um The narrative structure and how we're gonna get into the stories now you're gonna make it work and de-aging And these characters and audience expectation and like we don't even need to talk about this. Yeah like the answer Is right there. Yeah, no you're right. You're right. It just blows my mind I don't get it. Well, and I the one thing the right thing that I don't totally understand I'm sure someone understands a lot of people on their price screaming at their they're like this guy Right now right but but to me too, it's also like that was bring up hours excuse to rings of powers excuse to they're like well We don't have the rights to anatar we have to call them howl brand And then they call them in it all they literally had to do was go hey can we call them in a tar they're like sure You want it in writing boom? There you go. Yeah, okay, so and I'm thinking like the appendices are full of all of those stories and if all you need is Character names and things that happened go plum the depths depths of the appendices and you can do all those stories right It's there. Yeah, you can do all of them. That's what rings of power is doing exactly And I think so myself why like what is the difference between you fundamentally changing fairmeer You making massive changes to Frodo You not doing a time compression, but like skipping over events which now allow you to go back and do shadow of the past things like that What is the difference between that and the original trilogy and going into taking actual names and events and things and feeling the in the in the in the between and going into the first and second age I see no difference whatsoever in terms of and the appendices are linked to the rights of the Lord of the rings Stories well, yeah, and and and in the defense of rings of power the best the only I mean the best thing they did Was they went to the second age like I was you're right that for that choice is a minute yeah to go there is huge to have a region and to bring that to life I love the new nor it's it's why yeah, instead of the young Thing which probably broke your heart right but yeah, but um, but we've been there yeah, yeah, yeah, you know And also don't I also really love I love their stuff about air a Gorn But like the whole the way we're introduced to strider and he's mysterious and we don't need to know I mean Jake was talking about this. There's like there's power and mystery. There's power and not being shown every detail That's the whole reason exactly the shadow of past events, you know like from from the old forest until they arrive at breathe They were like, you know, we didn't say these things didn't happen We just didn't show them And so in the trilogy you watch fellowship with the ring and they actually did see Tom Bombadill The barrow downs happened the barrow whites all that stuff old man willow that was all there. We just didn't like Choose to show that part, but it did still happen and so yeah, I think I don't know like I'm fine with mystery I'm fine with not seeing young air Gorn. I'm fine with again, especially if it's not big o' Mortensen Um Yeah, so I don't understand this whole you're right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no go ahead go ahead my whole thing is In in other fandoms other stories you don't have the breadth of story and space right And so I understand why like in Star Wars you're making Rogue One you're filling in the blanks Box that exists in that world. Yeah, right even though they should have made a bunch of the minds. I Whatever right get call okay. Um I guess the nice uh that is a 1976 deep cut sequel to New Hope that's that was there you go. Wow really. Yeah, I was that was George six That's George Lucas's new alternate plan in case the studios didn't back him and he could make a really Misty foggy kind of movie low-set quality Holy crap dude. Okay, but So there's just all this space yeah and instead of exploring it we are cramming Into the edges of the main trilogy like like if you're not gonna do turin Why don't we talk about the war in the north with uh with the dune a day? Yeah like my the against the Yeah, yeah, come on. I mean since that's sitting right there. That's third age it ties in You could even I was saying this in the day you could even do sort of like The rohiram being formed and their friendship with gondor there's a ton of this in unfinished tales And it's like sitting there. So this is rich lore and history that you could do And if we can embellish as much as rings of power did by god we can that's kind of my point We could embellish some of the early 30 stuff like crazy So so the rings of power does negative embellishments. Yeah, and Or diminishings I guess really yeah, and what they could do is positive embellishments They could literally go the other way and say we're gonna fill in the gaps of instead of making up crap That has nothing to do with Tolkien's world or the characters. We're going to actually take things actually happen in and and expand it and magnify Here's one thing here's another concept that yeah that uh like If you wanted to expand upon the trilogy show the war of the ring that was going on in other parts of middle earth Show the the doors fighting and the elves that that they talk about they're like you know Peter Jackson the commentaries again. Thank you. See the Matthew He was like, you know, there were there were fights going on in other parts of middle earth It wasn't just this you know battle in the pellinor fields and at the black gate There were rage throughout yeah the entire tea of middle earth and it was a world war essentially Which was talking new well and so it's like why not go because again then you could introduce new characters You could reference stuff going on but without having to bring back and dh people and you could literally add to The trilogy so my question I guess for you is do you think since this is something that's like really you're thinking like not a great move In terms of compelling fans Gent in general Do you think it detracts from the trilogy or it has like a negative effect just like in my negative. I mean like no effect Net zero. I I think it hurts things because I believe there's too much of good thing and and I think it's like careful What you ask for and like I don't want to hurt let as his feelings here, but go ahead. Love star wars I love stars but but I think I think they've gone too far They have like they they broke it a little bit for me they have broken it yeah, and that's my concern Yeah, I actually I totally agree with you and I know exactly what you're saying because Um, they've opened they're trying to open too many mystery boxes like you were alluding to they're trying to fill in too much of Of the force and all that kind of stuff for whatever Um, and so you can yeah, you can Damage things and so you do need to be a little bit, you know kind of careful one thing and especially as Lane just sort of I think he's going to um, he's going to relieve himself uh, I want to Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay, you savage. I want you leave that once you leave the mic. I can say anything I want So it's free game, but I gotta say dude Okay, I love your thoughts and I am sitting here. This is this as you guys were talking about we all threw talking there I freaking love this and I'm not talking like like shadow. I'm not talking about like the specific movies Yeah, yeah, I literally just love the fact that I get a chance to talk Talk like this fandom again, which has been kind of like That was my hype of my energy around rings of power coming back. I'm like, let's for the great freaking idea right second age Let's freaking go But the idea that like it just I mean it flopped you know for for one But it just makes me feel so good that we're able to sit here and converse and have these like Deep cool fun talks that the fandom hasn't had and feels like ages you know what I mean? It just doesn't feel like we've been able to really discuss Different opinions and different things you know, so I was oh yeah dude you mind. I was gonna say something real quick. Yeah, I lost my phone. I'm looking for my phone Matt. He's gonna call me thanks dude. Oh straight to voicemail. Oh, okay straight to voicemail Oh, it's dead shoot. I mean, oh gosh, I swore again. I'm sorry kids. What's wrong with you children listening? I don't be like me I agree as though that is it's fun to have the conversation and talk about it But when you love your fandom, it's this is the word nerd where I that's why I said I'm nervous a little bit And here's my here's not what I expected them to do here's my proposition if if you're going to make more stuff. Yeah Go with the Star Wars method and just flood it Because when you flood it you get gems like andor Uh a lot of people loved yeah, we'll be one like you're if you flood if you flood it you're gonna get some gold nuggets Like you're gonna pan and there's gonna be a lot of dirt. There might be a gold fleck or two. Yeah, if you just Put in little drops It magnify if it's a stinker it magnifies the stinker it is. It's like farting in your car. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, or under the sheets It's like dang. I can't really smell the detergent anymore I swear I washed this this morning, but it's gone. I don't know why I went there. I'm sorry lord It's okay. It's okay. Anyway, but I want to say this you might as well if you're gonna do a bunch of stuff And you're gonna go kind of safe Throw in some curveballs to where it's like okay. Well all this other stuff I don't like, but this one if they hadn't done all this all these things we wouldn't have that one cool thing Yeah, okay, can we just real quick and that might be the trilogy that might just be the trilogy forever. Yeah, it might be Yeah, you might be right Um just for a second so I want your opinion on this and if we need to we can we can pause look for your phone real quick I just want to take a picture of you guys. That's all I want to do. Oh, here I got you dog Freak is that it? Yeah, I got you right here dog You're trying to get you trying to get us a little little photo here. Allow one the show just keep going Yeah, just act natural. Oh, act natural. What? What? Well, you actually listen though For like will you listen to me as I'm talking because no if you're gonna take a photo analysis. This is important And I want you to hear me out. I said this on the my most recent um episode where I want your guys opinions on this do you think that the studio is um I feel like They do want to go at some point. This is just my feeling First second third-age stuff But it feels like to them this is where I really worry. I've said this before and I just don't know if you've heard it Yeah, they're not okay. Oh, cuz I don't listen here. You don't listen my episodes. All right, so Matthew's over here. Yeah, none But okay, the idea is They are putting these we have that now too by the way. I know It's yours About me Okay, he's this we've actually divorced and this is actually straight up like we're just doing separate episodes on the bottom But okay, so it feels like they're saying okay We're gonna drop these two movies and I am worried that the studio does not have the um The nerve or the courage or whatever to say let's say these two things flop Let's say you know people like like Matthew or sort of like I have heard you talk about this Like this. This is this is kind of bad and then they're like well We got our two movies in and we're Like it's gonna break them if it's not successful It's gonna break them from if that's gonna if that's the kid if that was their mentality Then this is the wrong move yeah, 100% the wrong move because as you said what what is the fandom like literally Waiting for all the hype going into rings of power. We were speculating about different shows. What would be cool? And again young airgorn was there. That was one of the things like you can just plenty of stuff there So it was a reboot of Lord of the ring. So was that so was that At crazy enough as it is Harry Potter is doing it right now. It's actually the same company Unbraw they're they're doing that so Anyway, there's tons of stuff you can do by the way you can go do a movie version of Second age and make it baller and I know that that's gonna hurt feelings with Amazon and whatever It is what it is you guys did TV they're doing movies. I mean, I don't know if there's you know the rights whatever They have the rights that's the crazy thing is they have the rights technically to do it if they want okay So the idea here is that like I'm worried that they are doing these two shows With nothing else on the back burner or maybe potentials, but let's see how these first two go then We could be screwed. We could be screwed if that's their mentality if their mentality is we know these might not be great But we have to get him in this last time we can do them. It's it's like we're doing these first and we're definitely doing that other stuff if that's the mentality It's like you as you write there's two perspectives it very well could be It could be flooding the fandom with with stuff that's cheap and not good That's that has happened in Star Wars. It's got awful Dacolites the worst thing I've ever seen it is it did literally changes episode one it literally changes what Motives for the Jedi and what Yoda said like that one That's that's that's the sin that's a sin when you go in and all of a sudden you add something to it that's prior That takes away from the thinking or the words or the quotes and it's sort of twisted It's like well, Erie Goren only said that or Gandalf only said that because our characters that we created said that first That's what they did in kind of acolyte and so you're like that's not cool because now you just stole the thunder right from that line that that character delivered So there is ways in which it can't really damage a fandom if you're doing just tons of stuff like that if they're care If they're far enough away and you want to go Beginning a third-age second-age first-age stuff. We are dying for that stuff. Yeah, and I mean god. I I I just the dark lore more goth. Yeah. You don't want to do right. They're all about dark or Darth theater in for a Palatine. You have like started on you've got the crazy thing we're crazy thing would be said. Yeah. The crazy thing we're learning about uh uh I'm learning reading the Silmarine about yeah. Similarly about more goth is like or Melkor previously. Yeah. You could literally um in Lord of the Rangas you you don't even really see Saran. He's a disembodied figure for the most part except for the prologue. You could get like that whole you wouldn't have to dance around it. You could make him a character a physical being and if you would single thing. Yeah. V. Melkor. Would be insane. That would be on the big screen. One of the epic most epic things. You think they're scared to do it? Yeah. I think they're scared. That's why that is I hope to God we're wrong. This is where like if anyways listening we hope we are wrong. Yeah sure. I would love for you to be out there and like wait these guys are gonna lose their minds. Like if I were a creator in a studio and I heard this I'd be like all right this is what we want to hear. Yep. You're excited you're interested. You have no idea what's coming. We're gonna drop a banger on you. You know what I mean? Yeah. And have that type of confidence. It's the thing that like I love about George Lucas when he went back. I've said this before he goes back and he tells his team. I use the Darth Maul thing because it's just so it's so profound. Yeah. He's alive. He's cutting half and George is like I don't care what I'm the creator. I don't care. I have no fear. I have no fear. I can I can do whatever I want. George Lucas says God in that universe. Yeah. And so again if you're given the rights to do these things again as long as you're not you know this is where you it's it's different because the creator is still not with us. And so you have the estate safeguarding these sort of things. And so I do think they need to be respectful to what is there. And I do think that's a responsibility they all have when they come in. Yeah. And I felt like Peter Jackson really did take that serious clearly with the trilogy. I think he did. Yeah. Well the energy you're describing too of like you know that if that's if that is their mentality like we're going to try it out. We're going to see it might flop like that already is the opposite energy of the original trilogy. It's the original trilogy was like we love these stories. We can do it. Other people don't think we can. Yeah. Screw them. And and and maybe they have that energy with just two films and that's all they're done. I feel like it doesn't feel like Peter Jackson held hostage and talking to Colbert and being like yeah, home for go. It's going to be good. There's just really really really good. We could be right. You want to tell him about your idea? It's show and tail time. Yeah. My son and I have been working on a sequel to Berra Gorn. Uh, it's that late night thing I did with Peter Jackson. They let us film a New Zealand. That's what that was by the way. Yeah, that was it. Darryl's Darryl Gorn. It was a joke like it was a spoole. It's like what in the world? Like when that's what he's credited for is like oh my gosh, bro. Yeah. So you think we're going to get Darryl Gorn. I think you think we might take. I think Darryl would also a ranger and cool Bears. I'm going to be playing Eric Ornan. Huffer. Go. Oh my god. I don't want to be shocked. Just buy it guys. Um, I told you that he cast himself as guild or yeah, he did go bear. Asked himself as guilt. He cut out Vince. I mean, actually like it's fun. It's funny. He's got a golden now. Yeah. Yeah. Or the old gaffer. So what do you think? Let's roll into shadow of the past. What do you think about about all that? You know, the premise unless you want. Similar thoughts. One one thing I wanted to add on. Um, and I'll give some thoughts on Shaz. Pass is I think one of the core issues is I think fundamentally we've all lost trust in the power of the organic film making. That's going to occur. And so I heard Jake and you guys all talking about he's like, you know, all these like fantasy shows look like shiny and new and you don't have the rich. A lot of point of that about the hobbit. You know, and like sparkly. Which you know, yeah. Right. And we're all talking about this dare. Like, yeah, I think it's like. And Lord of the Rings more than anything needs to be rooted in some sort of organic reality. And like how you think about toking. And so I think if we had a filmmaker going to New Zealand, almost no CGI, like demanding the shoot on film or even, you know, like digital whatever. But if the quality matched, let's say fellowship in two towers, I don't think we're having as many conversations about the story. Yeah, no, because if you match that quality, it doesn't matter what the story is. If the story is like, all right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're not like losing our minds out. But also by the very, no, you're right. By the very virtue or nature of the stories that they're trying to tell. They're going to have to enlist all of these technology. I mean, because like Elijah Wood, this is a new quote since we recorded last, he said, as long as I'm alive and able, I don't want anyone else playing. Well, he has an age today. He's got the one right. Right. I love that. That's his mentality. Then, then I think like is Sean Assetton also going to insist on playing young Sam, AI, D age, whatever. Like you brought it up. You said Indiana Jones. Like a dial of time. Is that what we're going to get just Lord of the rings version with shadow. The past are these guys going to be like, no, it's okay. We can. And then if they if they don't play themselves, D aged, you know, at the barrow downs and with Tom Bamba, we're going to like buy by different actors playing them. No, it's sort of just like a cluster where I'm like, again, guys, you don't, you don't have to handcuff yourselves like this. We understand that it's hard to move on from something that is so. Classic and so perfect and done so well. And we had you have you guys are legends. You've literally some of them like some of them had literally just continued on and just being like, yeah, I was they've done other stuff. A lot of them have done great work. But it's like they're always be known as those roles. That's their that's their their legend coin. And to let go of that would be hard. But I'm thinking like, God, it's so I don't know. So people like Colbert maybe feeding that and not being not like. I don't know. And and I don't know that Peter Jackson wants to keep doing these like that's the other thing to his I don't he didn't want to do the hobby. Guillermo Dortoro. Yeah, geez. Guillermo Del Toro was the director and visionary behind that. And it was only because the studios were like, hey, we have to keep the same schedule. GDT is out. Everything's cleared up the rights. Can you step in and pull us a favor like they talk about the nightmare it was for him. He was literally doing all of the pre he didn't get like when that happened. He didn't get like three more months to do his own pre production. He had to as he was filming. He had to do pre production like simultaneously. And he was like it almost did kill him. I think he had that all sort of thing that happened. Yeah, like he was he was not happy. And I think like that's gotta be the last taste in his mouth from Middle Earth. And so I don't know he will be a producer. So it's a different role in everything. But yeah, I almost think of you probably asked him if he hadn't made the trilogy. He'd be like, now I'm good. I'm good. Like I don't need to be involved at all. Because that does sound very stressful. And I think though a compliment to him is that it is even I know it's very. Anyway, I think it's a compliment is that like it's even halfway. It's it is. It's still something that you want to put on it. But like, yeah, it's right. If you look at like compared to other stuff, it's like, look, even if it's mediocre, right. That's the fact that he pulled that off. It matches. I kind of forget that. You always bring that up. And I'm always saying, yeah, the fact that. Totally it matches really well. I mean, that's the biggest criticism of the hobbit is that it feels too much like Lord of the Rings. It doesn't feel like the hobbit enough where it's like it's got these dark elements in it's got it's like we said, when we were saying mismatched tones. Yeah, super silly and then super dark. They kept the beginning the set like when they were first in and there's like that. I'm going on an adventure. It's almost like as soon as they leave the shire it goes to crap. Right. Right. They nailed that part. Whereas the trilogy nailed that part. And then it just continued to grow. Yeah, the hobbit kind of is like it's where it's right. I kind of split. Like I know technology was shifting. They're doing different things. That's you. The 3D. The 3D thing was a big deal. Right. The france for seconds studios are pushing certain things. So it's affecting his decision making again, Jackson actually wanted that he was the one who he did us with 3D technology. Yeah, we'll get that's what you know again going back to George Lucas. Those guys push it's cool. It's it is actually loves seeing them in 3D. I thought it was a really fascinating. Yeah, it's just that like sometimes again as it's different generations. So as we grow up with it, we're like we're seeing sort of one. The original take and then we grow up and we see a different one and a kid who watched it first or kind of like this is new to them and they think it's cool and it's sick. Lane has a there you go. He's got 3D now don't 3D glasses on his. It's like us in the prequels. I got you. Like you don't you feel nostalgic for the prequels like Star Wars. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And everyone hated them. They hated them. They absolutely hate. Yeah, I'm like that's my childhood. Yeah, exactly. And I think sometimes I wonder with people who because again, I was kind of you know back in I'm you know, I'm just cool. I'm just like the hobbit exist. Yeah, you're the right mentality, bro. I'm better. No, no, I think it's just I think it's just like because imagine if they weren't I mean I sometimes think I'm like they could not be there. There could be nothing. Right. Right. And I'm like so I guess I'm at least it's cool to kind of go. I got my I got my raticast. I got my raticast moment. We got Martin Freeman Bilbo. Yeah, we got Ian McKellen Gandalf again. You know, I'm like how go and say it. Tario. Come on. Another cosplay. I can't get on that. Yeah. I'm not. I'm just like no, but actually it's hoping she would come back for a hunt for golf. I mean if you're going to do it, my is what she has. Keep her injury. Did you hear that? Like a massive. I think she had like a head injury trauma. Like she fainted and like, bashed her head in pretty bad. Did those barrels? You got seriously injured. Wait, in the moves. I said the barrels. The barrels in the film. You're like recently in. No, it was another project. And then I did personal life. And that you came out as they were. announcing a Humphor Golem stuff. And I think it kind of meant like, she probably won't be able to. - Dang. - So, yeah. - That's all right. - I'll bring this full circle here. - Yeah, please. - So the shadows of the past. - Yes. - I am nervous about it. But from a very personal perspective, where I was telling Lane, I read the books before I saw the films. - Okay, yeah. - And so, I have never-- - I'm not telling anything to you, but I was really young. - I have never seen that part of the story on film. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - And so it is very precious to me, because it's like this inset, where it only exists in my mind, and I picture it. And honestly, those chapters are my absolute faith. - They are, they are my absolute faith. - They're really good. - It just feels like home. And then you see a Mary that you never see again, really, how he's leading them through the old four years. - That's a big time, man. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Very close. - You know, and like, I mean, the frickin' barrel like, like it's just, it's so cool. And every time I read the trilogy or whatever, and I'm in that, there's just something magical about those two, three chapters or whatever. And I just don't trust them. Like if it was PJK and the crew doing it, like if we could just time warp back then, and ever all the infrastructure, I would believe it, but I'm just, I know you're saying. - I would just say, you're like right now in your mind, when you, you know how when you read a book, like it's a movie playing in your head, right? And so that is a part of Tolkien, of the trilogy, that they never touched. I mean, there's other pieces, little, little, little tiny things here and there, but like, for the, oh, for go. I mean, this actually, like, you know, 300 words of this is a wrap that. - Yeah, that's true. - But, so there's like, there is this piece that is completely untouched and like, let's say now they go in and do it. Let's say they bring us a Tom Bommadillic we have and rings of power. - Ah man, that is gonna be, that's gonna be a bummer. That is gonna be a bummer if they do that. And it's, that's a really interesting character that's completely new, we'll never have seen. So we have an image of him in our mind, all of us have a little slightly something. And so now it's like, oh God, they nailed it with arrogance casting, like they nail it with all these other different characters. And like, I know Frodo, for example, when Elijah Wood is cast, there are people who are like, what? - Oh yeah. - Too young, too young. - And so American. - For us, for us, it's like, it was no problem because that was, we were younger, it was easy to kind of, like, I'm not so sure that's what I thought. I can't even remember now, really what I thought of him in my first reading. - I was just blown away by his eyes. - I'm like, just dude's eyes are magical. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so it barely, now he is Frodo for us or whatever, but it's like whoever they put in there as Tom Bommadill in actual story, 'cause I don't even believe Tom Bommadill in the race of power. I don't even believe, he looks like a, - Oh, one worse thing in an air. - Grand Elf and stuff. - Right, it sounds like they put him in their last second. Anyways, I just don't, I can't believe, I can't believe, like if they put in a ridiculous, doesn't match my kind of, - I feel like they're gonna go. - We're talking like old heads, fellas. - Well, I know we are, I know we are. I love it though. - Dude, this is the truth of the problem. - It's just old. - Yeah. - That is old. - And actually, actually to that point, I've often said, the creators are now too. Like that's the, they are, they probably know that they're dealing with this, but again, I've talked to you about like Target audience and I'm like, I realized rings of power was not, they're not targeting us. That's, this is not for us. Even though they made it seem like that because they needed and wanted us to promote it and push it. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - But I remember being around my kids who were just sort of like dude, it was the who is Sauron. And my kids were trying to figure it out and I thought this is, to me it was dumb. And to them it was cool. And I thought, yeah, this is not meant for me. - Time comes for us all. - It does, and it's like okay, that's where we are. That's where we are. So I always say when people listen. - But it's so weird 'cause these are timeless tales. That's the part that's very frustrating where it's like, this is the applicability nature of it is like, it's like outside of time and it's not, you know, the references aren't, and it's where it's like, it can be done. There's various levels of execution. - It's like, so as Matthew's saying, like if they come in and they do everything they can, everything in their power and they spend the money on it and they put the effort in and they do the, they take us back to Gritty Film and landscapes and they've got Tammy down there and they're actually doing prosthetics and stuff. If they're remaking the old hobbit fee, you know what I mean? If they're doing that kind of stuff, okay, you're getting as close as you can. And even if it's mediocre, I'm sort of like, okay, but again, if there's nothing else in the back burner, if there's nothing else coming, I don't know, it's kind of, it's fun to be talking about it again. It's fun to be in the fandom doing that, but there's definitely just major, like it is worrisome. I would hate for this to come out and just be an absolute dud. For example, if between episode five and episode six of Star Wars, they decided right now to go back and do, to the called shadows of the Empire. - It's always shadows. - And it's just like, it's always shadows. - Yeah, it's very, very shadowy. But it's like Prince Xizor and it's this like extra villain that like isn't a book, it's in a novel, it's in a video game and they did this in-between thing. It would, and you told us like, this is like episode, you know, 5.5. - No, it'd be 5.6. - Yeah, 5.6. What'd it be? - Yeah, 5.6. - 5.6. - Yeah, it should be closer to this. It's actually gonna be closer to six. So I like that. But how weird would that be to see them show us this Daged Mark Hamill and Harrison Forkery Fisher in the midst of me watching all of that. - With Dash Render. - It would be, especially with their using different types of shooting styles and angles and all that stuff. Because you know the, the fellowship of the ring is like those close up, those real intimate kind of like shots. Or if you always talk about that, like the way in which they frame shots and stuff was, you add a lot of the motion, a lot of really cool things. - And there you said handheld cameras. Making it feel like a documentary. Especially like the Tomb of Ballon, you can tell for sure, and those fight scenes is all, they're all shoulder trucks. - Yeah. - And then it's just jostling around. You're like, you don't see that in a lot of movies now. It's all clean, smooth, computer controlled camera movements. And it's like that stuff. Just it makes you think of a war movie. It's like saving private Ryan. Whatever kind of like iconic war film you have, it's, you're in there and it feels rooted in realism that way. - Right, you know what scene I always think of? - Yeah. - I don't know if as a scene this, I think it might be in the appendix. (laughing) - I'm not a giant. - I can't, what am I done? (laughing) - The hobbits are with the air going in there in the swamp. - Yes. - And like you see them like slapping there, and I can't remember it. I've only ever seen the extended. - Extended. - No, no, no, you're just sitting there. - And I'm like, you know what? Those dudes were getting bit by mosquito. - Yeah. - It's like I feel the bite when I'm watching like that level of just tangible, like realness. - Right, right. - And like film is a visual language. And so if you change that visual language, it'd be like if Lord of the Rings was written in, it's written in third person, all of a sudden they're like, actually return to the King is first person narratives with air a gourd. - Yeah. - And you'd be like, what was going on? - Right, right, right. That's a good point. - You know? - That would be strange. - Yeah. - That's gonna be, that's what's so white hunt for gulms. You know, when I first started pitching them, thinking like if it's the hunt for gulm, it's who's perspective is, you know? - I love your concept for this. - So I'm like, I don't know, I don't know which way they're gonna go with it, but I'm like, I never thought about that. Like who, 'cause you have the teller of the story in the books, Gandalf. And then it's sort of like, but also, if we're gonna show the hunt, whose eyes are we, are we showing it from? So, it would be interesting to know. - And like you brought up too, like the dark side was hunting for them as well. - Exactly, absolutely. - There's a double hunt. - That is an unfinished tale right there, buddy. - That is what it is. - To put a name to the film, the whole thing. - That is a double hunt. I mean, that is fun. Now, if they, that would be sick. I mean, like, I go to that. - Yeah, I don't know if they're gonna do it though, 'cause it smegos granny's in this. - And I, and I never thought. - Sucking eggs, baby. - I thought I had some clever ideas. You know, and some of my cleverest, and maybe I'm like, no. - Showing off a little earth, baby. - I'm a shame to myself. I mean, I'm nothing. I am not, when that, when that dropped, I was like, as you're, you fool. - I still can't. - Dude, it's amazing when you told me, when you told me that, that fact that like the ring rates go to Eisengaard and knock on the door. - Dude. - Like, I had a immediate visual. - They're holding worm time on the freaking ground. They're gonna kill him. They're gonna kill him, dude. - 'Cause he was, he was still. - They spared him because they saw a dark shadow on him. They knew that a darkness was on him, and their powers of the dark, and they knew that he had a part to play in a darkness. - To see, I know what it was. - Can we film this right now? - Dude, they're not gonna do this. - Dude, I mean, that would get you, again, the whole, like when you talk about the ranger. - And that's about the page, that's off the page. So I'm like, I know they're reading this stuff and probably just wondering, what are they doing? Because you know what's not detailed, a whole lot is Mirkwood. They actually don't, like, as I was looking at, I was thinking like, there must be a lot about him in Mirkwood. So you can definitely, since there's not, they don't tell you a whole lot about it. There's one or two lines about some of the stuff that Doug O'Dore and one of the, you know, one of the Nazgul going up there, and there's a whole plan by Sauron to send out, you know, just kind of stir up some of this war and kind of keep the forces, you know, distracted or engaged so they could hunt for. - And you're like, oh, okay. So there's not much said about what like Legolas and Thranda Will and all those guys are doing up there. You can play with that. - Yeah, you give that. That's something I would believe I would say, okay, cool. Talking didn't write that down. That's the stuff that they wanted to do with rings of power, which is embellish a little bit. I'm like, okay, you know, as long as it's there and it's an event that's referenced and maybe it just wasn't detailed out, okay. Like show me what you think that looked like there. But then when you have stuff that literally is, like the worm tongue, like the conversations and the things at eyes and guard, you don't even, by the way, have to, it depends on, right? You don't have to see them. It's his voice. And honestly, with that being his power, that'd be more powerful to just hear his voice. That's what he's known for. Yes. So I got it. If they don't, I just, I can't imagine. If it's, especially if it's two movies, I'm like, come on. How much hunting for golem can we do? And like, you know, he's like hunting again. So where's granny at? Where is it? Hunt for golem too. Still hunting. Which, which, now that they're doing the flashbacks to granny, does make me understand why they're going to do two movies because it's going to be a whole thing. And we're going to get to know Schmiegel quite a bit more. But which, yeah, fine. It's just, it's fine. It's just in general with you guys sitting here. It's just, I think my spirit, I was talking a lot of this. I'm like, it's just fun to be talking to the guys again about this. The rest, there may be missteps and stuff because I've embraced this with Star Wars. I'm like, I will always have the trilogy. I've had to let go and the prequels. I am disheartened by this equals. Completely disheartened by it. It just let me down big time. The only saving moment for me was-- and I don't even really like it, but it's just a master moment for Luke Skywalker was the only thing. It was like, so I'm holding on to nothing really there. I'm like, OK, there's one master moment. And then I've told you, I have ideas as to how you could actually make it bad. As there's ways to do it. I want this. I want this shared. It would be insane. It would be the boldest thing Lucasfilm has ever done. And that's what people want is a boldness to say. We're going first age. We're going to show you this, this, whatever. Turin is about to take himself on his blade. Absolutely. Are you guys ready for this? Absolutely. And Glau Rung is the evilest mother trucker ever seen. They were warm. Oh my god, man. And I mean, he is, by the way, he is evil, dude. And so like smog's nothing compared to the Strasse. Because his smog's daddy. It's smog's daddy. And so like, look, legitimately would be insane. Some of the dark vibes. And so I don't know what they're doing. I don't know what their plan is. I wish I'm almost kind of glad that they don't do what Star Wars does, which is like, here's our five, 10 year movie prediction in the never-go-all any of the movies are there. What are people jacked for stuff that never. Yeah. That's weird. And so sometimes I want that. Sometimes I'm like, no, I've seen that really not work. And that's been really bad for a fan of toxic and stuff. So I don't know. It balls in their court. I mean, this is really going to be, but like, going to be interesting. This is the unfold. Yeah. And just like, you know, hunt for golem is however many words in the council of Rindell. And obviously like the shadow of the past is a section they just decide not to film in Lord of the Rings because they don't have room. There how many words are there of story just not filmed? Because like, I mean, let's just be honest. We're getting the de-aged for hobbits stumbling through the forest. That shadow of the past, right? And like, there's no way that's not it. Yeah. Is that what we want? Yeah. Again, the one intriguing element for this. I don't be so native. I hate. No, no, no. It's, I'm actually glad that you had that perspective because I just, I honestly do hope like, again, they're going to do it. And so if you're going to do it, I want you to hear all these perspectives. I would want them to kind of, I hope they're in a room. Not in an echo chamber just with their own thoughts and stuff that they actually do. And then they're going to be like, "Is this it?" I mean, like, because the premise seems, that's it. I mean, like, I mean, other than some of the Eleanor stuff, which is it. Well, I'll just say that's the one thing I am excited about. It's like, there's the only thing that's, they're actually going to kind of cross into the fourth age a little bit, which I know we get sort of at the end of the turn of the king. We see Eleanor and little Frodo and Sam while I'm back. But that is something that is, again, it was like when I first heard it, I'm like, "Oh my God, you guys, come on bro, do anything else. Leave me alone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah." Right? But like, I'm like, that is interesting because, again, that obviously, for me, that's something I want to see. That's something that we are creating. And so to see their idea of that, their version of that, to see Sean Aston as an old Sam, to see Mary and Pippin as their old characters, that's compelling. Yeah. So actually, young man. No, I actually think a lot of times, and I've just realized this when I was talking to Matthew about this, like, when I think about shadows of the past, I think about those chapters only. Yeah. That's my default. And I think I didn't really get, it's brand new to us, so we're still going to think about it. But if they do a lot more of them going through the shire and stuff, they're kind of like, you know, like they're having these flashbacks or they're telling a tale and then we kind of shift back to it. It's weird. And it definitely would not be something that you would watch, like fellowship this movie and then that would be so strange. But it's got to be definitely all on its own. And it needs to be almost more, it almost needs to be more fourth age. Yeah. It almost needs to be, to be, to be. It needs to be two thirds one third. Yeah. So, yes. Yeah. Like, I don't think that's what they're, I think the ratio they're going to do is opposite. Yeah. Right. I think they might do like one fifth, five, four fifths kind of a deal. Two sevenths. Two sevenths. And so I was at five six. That's right. I'm saying trouble. The kids would say six seven. So like, uh, I've never said that ever. I've never said that ever. I mean, eight weight you guys just hit number one. Wow. Oh my god, dude. Did you imagine? Clips this up. Oh, Riz is drippy. Oh, yeah, boy. I have no idea. I have no idea. I work with the kids all the day and I'm sort of like, they're speaking of foreign life. Dude, I mean, the one, the one that like the, the, uh, what is it? Gen Z. Is that what they are? I think. I think. The Gen Z rendition of, uh, uh, Eric Warren going to say I'm like, gone or call straight. He's like, you know, God don't need to cap hardcore and the dudes and they don't go. What? Say less. That's pretty sad. I'm like, it's so funny. It's actually pretty funny. So, that's all. There's a pretty dumb ticked. They're both had, they both have perms and short hair. Oh my god. So, first of all, is that A.I. Is that meme? Was that what have you seen? What's one? Like, what are they doing in that? They just, it's just a meme. It's like, it's like, it's the frames. So, with A.I. It's got not a control. There's, um, I was scrolling on tic-tac-dote because I posted my shorts on tic-tac. All the reason I go on that app is just, uh, throw them out there. 100,000. And a thousand, baby. Hey. Yeah. Um, so I go on there and I just, you know, by the way, one of the ones that I made was like, could a radigas defeat the ball, Rob? I like that. Like, what was this? Actually, no. You gotta go watch it. But I'll say you guys subscribe, as well. Uh, what do you guys think? You guys, I think I think, I think for the guys we get taken. I love that. I knew I was at. I knew it. I knew it. I used to get smoked. You get absolutely smoked. I can see him, like, trying something in like this one, not worse staff working with this. You're like, "Bush. No, right now. Hold on, hold on. If that little hedgehog was behind him in that ball rug was after that hedgehog, sure. Let me tell you you'd see a different side of radigas. It's the ball rug was like, I'm a burn this forest down. Oh, that's a different radigas. Oh, we would say, oh my god. He would go super saying on that. Could you imagine? Could you imagine? His brown starts glowing. Oh, geez. He's got happens every morning. Okay. He's got a brown glow. Tell me more. Tell me more. Say less, Cows. So, no, I was watching on the tiktok. There's something called, it's the dumbest thing. Sorry, sorry. It's not appropriate for work. It's not, it's just appropriate for work. It's just, there's a lot of swearing kids. Listen, the kids listen to this. It's, they actually, my kids actually are like, have you seen this tiktok called, drip warts? It's like, it's Hogwarts, but it's like, they're all in like these like, like, you know, all this like metal, like the, the, the chains, it's got, it's kind of gangster or whatever. I don't know. It's just, it's a bunch of old men in this room right now. It's absolutely radigas. It's like, this is the dumbest thing ever. But it's actually kind of made me laugh. Anyways, it's all A.I. It's all A.I. And I was like, me, this is out of control. Actually, for once, I was like, that's a pretty appropriate use for A.I. like that's actually kind of funny and, and completely, you know, entertaining. There's a Rastafarian Lord of the Rings one too. I'll show you guys. Oh god. It's hilarious. God, God, God. Anyway, I totally took it off. No, no, no. Oh, no, it's great because I really, the final things I want to say about all this is just again, I keep, I'm going to keep going back to that because from the moment we started this podcast, it's like dude, that had they have been doing that we thought they were doing this. Back in 2018. Yeah. And that's like 2017 when we first started talking about it in 2018. Yeah. So it's like, had that had that had been coming within a year 2019 and you and I were getting to talk about this back then. Yeah. Totally different. It would have been like, I mean, it would have been on board. Yeah, it would have been so different. I would have been, and we were already hyping a hypothetical project. We didn't know what it was. The only strange thing was is like, why doesn't the studio who did the thing doing the thing like, like that was what was kind of throwing it. Well, I can't be anything tied to the trilogy. It just can't. You can't do. I've been out of the list. I've got mixed messages too. Remember it was like, it kind of is and what is involved. Right. No one's talking about it. Right. Right. Right. Exactly. Exactly. You had certain tidbits or different groups and the weird thing is they want rings power wanted this really cool partnership. They wanted this to be endorsed almost by, you know, PJ and everybody else. And then PJs ghosted. You know, and I'm like, God, the great ghosting of PJ. The king of the dead. You know, I'm the great ghosting of Bezos. Like he's like, he sends a note to never soft that way. The owner of the. My son's going to be so upset. Are you kidding me? How did they not get that note from Jeff? Like how do they not? He owns the dag on thing. How is he not? He's the richest one of the richest men in the world. How? He can't get a day on the set of his own show. That's something. Something's going on. So anyway, I think it's money. Money is on. I think it's money. But the whole point is back then, man. We would have been-- We were killing for that conversation. We wanted to have a really good conversation about stuff. And I even think like when the hobbit was coming out, like again, we were in college. What did that come out? - In college, yeah. - It was a lot. - It was 12, 13, 14. - 13, so we just, we just graduated. We just graduated. - Yeah, yeah. - I remember seeing it without my wife on a Saturday morning. I was like, babe, I gotta go see this. (laughing) - That's like don't mind me. - It's scary. - I'm gonna go alone. - Yeah, we're gonna go alone. - That's some things. - I got some man things to do. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Saturday and Rosemales go. - 13, 14. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Well again, so at time when we had just, you know, you and I were just starting out, what I'm doing, I think it's just a left college. And so I imagine if we had the pod back then, I'm just sort of like, that would've been cool. I mean, I would've been talking about it. That's the vibe I wanted to be in terms of like being in this fandom and stuff. And so here we are, it just feels so weird that it's so late. And it's just too, it's, it's, it's, it's the ship is sale. - A lot of time. - It seems like the ship is sale. And so it's very hard for us to envision. And this is fine. It's very hard. - We all eat crof, we come back and we're like, this is, this is, this is, - Glad we have that. - Glad we have that. - I hope, I hope, even if it's just, you know, I think you were all even saying, even if it's a C+ show, we're gonna be like, I mean, me, I mean, I'll be like, that's better than anything I've seen in the past how many years. - And Amazon be flunkin' 'cause. - And also, also, also, it's, I'm hoping it's even just better in the quality and the production is better than the other stuff we're getting in terms of other TV and even movies. - That's where they're getting here. - It's just been trash. It's just not been, they've lost our trust to be in the film industry and stuff. It's just, it's been really bad. It's been rough, I mean, like, Dune, have you guys seen Dune? - No, no interest. - No interest? - I see, yeah. - You've seen it. - Yeah, it's one of those things that's kinda like, okay, I mean, it's like, you know, I love that director too. - Yeah, yeah. - I've seen all his films. - Yeah. - Love 'em. - Yeah. - But like, the Dune 2, and I was just kinda like, I know, yeah, and it's, I mean, I, I, I, I, I wasn't as dissatisfied with that as I have been other things. - It's, it's honestly, it's probably the best. - That's what the world is saying. - Out of all the things coming out, honestly. I don't know why we drag Dune. Like, it's, it's the best out of everything. - But even for us to say, mwah, it's sort of like the best we have is something like, and you know, 'cause it's, you know, it's one of some awards and stuff, and you're like, that's it, that's it. - So that's where I'm saying, like, that's our peak. If it is, there's other things out there you can mention too, and I'm just sort of like, I'm thinking about fantasy, I'm thinking about fantasy show. You go grand stories and that genre, and I'm like, and even that is a reboot. - I mean, I remember the, I grew up on the one from the 80s or whatever that my dad watched, and the guy from Twin Peaks, whatever his name is, and I was like, - Sting, yeah, yeah, yeah. - And I, I, I remember, and I'm like, that was one movie. It wasn't a trilogy. I know there are several books, right? So it's a lot more book out here at the, the, the current one. But, I don't really, I don't even know, I haven't really read them, but I've heard people, just kind of spread out. - Yeah, I've heard people talk about it. - Yeah, so anyway, yeah. - Welcome to the Dune podcast. - The Dune. - Good you imagine, no way. (laughing) - There's a pun there, but I can't figure it out. - I think it would be remiss. Any other thoughts or anything? - The Dune adein. - Oh shh. - Oh, we did it. - All right. - How do you let me, how do you, the lanes retiring? - The lanes should be, like, - That's a lane line right there. - Take him out back and, and he, we, we, we, we, we're late, we're late, we're late, I'm low. The fact that I came up with Dune adein, obviously, it was minutes later, get in here. - I have any things to give. - Get in here, get in here. - I was worried. - I didn't even ask if we're done talking about our love. - Love, yeah, yeah. - Yes, or, or just even if, uh, I think it'll be remiss if we didn't talk about concerning how it's a little bit. - Oh yeah, we did it. - We did it a huge day. So, I'm gonna set up and then I'm gonna grab a drink. Do I think of the drunk? You got to probably get, that's only 11 some. - So, it's, it's, it's 11. - We had a reverse time slip, guys. - Oh, that's a hack. - We just gained that hour back. I thought it was like 12.45. - Me too, me too. So, I still have about another. - I'm gonna kiss both of you on the face. - I know, another, another 30 minutes. - Do you want another drink? - No. - No, probably not because I, you know, I gotta, I gotta, I gotta get on the, by the way, have you seen how dirty Shadda fax is? Did you see my point? - Well, it's because you're recording while you're driving. - God dang, I mean, I was the green light. - Did you get the green light? - No, we're, please, please, I've gotta get the, - Dude. - Talking patrol, I'm getting a light on the top of my car. - Master Sheriff. - I've been recording in the car and in, uh, up in the North Farthing. - Love you. - And so, I just feel like somewhere. - And you're like, I have some shady stuff going on. There's a little winds are picking up. I might have to move a little. - I gotta get, I gotta, I gotta listen. Anyway, um, but not the hold-up, so, uh, the one of the, one of the crazy things I think is, you should get a sire. You should get a sire and then he goes, ♪ Mammum, mammum, mammum, mammum, mammum ♪ - That's stupid. Yeah. - Um, I think it'd be great. - But yeah, so Matthew's here primarily for us to finally meet, hang out, spend time together, but he was like, hey, could we record? He was like, I want, I don't know why he wanted this, doesn't need it, and proof actually from today. He's like, I would love to like record lines with your direction. And I'm like, I would love to record, have you record it so I can, like, everyone who's in this project, I wish I could record with a person. - Yeah. - 'Cause it's such, it's always such a fun experience. We had an absolute blast. We were supposed to record last night, but we were like, let's just hang. - Yeah. - And then, uh, good choice. - Yeah, yes, it always is. - And then we had a couple of blocks of time today around, around just family hanging and everyday life that we used to record and we finished episode four. - Um, so that's all it. - Two episodes of "Fastward" in the books. It was amazing. It was full of like, the, I mean, I love how everyone involved me with these conversations about like character and story and everything. And it was like no exception today. I just felt like it was so cool to sit and talk about, you know, I don't know, just like the "Fastward" arc to come. Like we even talked about some stuff for season three and like the, like, like, the "Fastward" ultimate destination and everything and like how to keep him around longer even if his character has passed on and, and so behind the scene stuff that we can get, you know, and I know, we're dropping, we're dropping. - Hold your hands. - Hold your hands. - Let's ask whole barrippance, okay. And, oh, so. - Hold on, I just got word, there's a new film coming out. (laughing) - The death of "Fastward", the fate of "Fastward". But it was just so much fun and I just had such a blast and again, it was really cool to see him bring this character to life flawlessly and the variance and takes and the speed of which he got into character. And this was a guy, I remember it when we first started, if you don't mind me sharing, I think you should have brought it. - You were like, I don't know, man, I don't know if this is the right role. I don't know if I can do this role. He was like, I don't feel like, I don't know, like, "Fastward", I don't know if I'm "Fastward". - He's just so much better. - But it's not true. - And I remember, before he's been spending time with him person, I'm like, no dude, he is you. You are this person. And I've always, the way I've looked at "Fastward" is like, "Fastward" is like Sarah, for me, or he, "Fastward" the character is someone I aspire to be. And that's just I swam. - I'm so sorry. - I don't want to get into that. - And "Ellenor" is kind of more like myself. I'm like, I'm kind of like, I think there's a lot of ways that "Ellenor" is exceptional. I think she has more of a, like, she has more stuff to work on almost, like, she has more to refine within herself, versus "Fastward" who is the steadfast. But anyway, I didn't think Macy feels about that. - To go, sorry, go ahead. - Sorry, sorry. - I'm kidding. - I'm kidding. - Oh man, it's so funny. She said before, she's like, it's like, you're Peter Jackson, and I'm like Elijah Wood, Frodo, and it's like this thing where, you know, it's just, it's very interesting how like they were similar and they they they had this, like this close, like, conversation about these characters and stuff. And it's like, we get that tenfold. It's just, it's so cool. - Oh, awesome. - That's cool. And with everyone. And, but I was just thinking about just the, that, that was your kind of initial, like, I don't know, I don't know if I can do this. And then to see you just slip into it so effortlessly today, slip into it. I was like, damn dude, this is, this is your character. This is your performance. And there were times where I was like, you know, I wrote this script like second, and I was still kind of writing for, I don't know what. And I hadn't developed like your version of Fast and Voice. And I'm like, if there's some stuff we need to change, you know, let's do it. And to earn up there were lines. It's like, yeah, how, and it would be like, how else can we say this dude? You're like, I think I got it. I got it. And he would just improv it. - That's actually so cool. - There was one dude there. There was one line where I had written, and no one's ever going to hear it this way, because I'm not putting it in the, in the episode. But it was like, yeah, Fast were just saying, you know, and, and as far as hobbits go, you're the only one and a million hobbit, you know, which doesn't, that doesn't sound very hobbity. You're the only one and a million hobbit. Any of us has ever seen. And I'm like, god, I don't know. And then, and then you could start thinking you're like, you're, you're a diamond in the rough and all this stuff. And then I was like, what if we do something like kind of like flower floral gardening? And you're like, I got it. And, and he whipped out this line. I'm going to butcher it now, but you'll hear it in the final thing. He's like, you're, you're, you're, you're a rose. I can't remember. It's something about like a rose that stands tall in a garden. And I was like, geez, man, or the lone, the lone rose in a garden. - Only flower in the garden. - Yes, the lone rose in the garden. I think is what you said. And I'm like, dude, rose, rosy. Like you just went multi level there, bro. And oh yeah, I was like, shoot. So that kind of stuff, those interactions were so much fun. So yeah, if you want to talk about the project, you want to talk about whatever, man, if you don't have to either, you can. No, I mean, it was incredible. Like, it was really cool being here because I had recorded episode one in like pure isolation. In the strongest sense of the word. And just being here with, with Lane and working out the dialogue together. And just like recording together, bouncing voices back to each other. And I'm like, okay, how does, how does this line work? And you're like, no, this is the rat attack. And like, Oh, okay, like I got it and then we would do it. - The short hair was crazy by the way. - Yeah. - It was just like a boom boom, yep. - And then or you were like, well this is like what I was thinking, I was like, I don't know, like I don't, that doesn't feel fast-read to me. - I know, I like it itself. - And then we were just like, workshopping it on the fly. And I was like, I was like, okay, let me try this. And I would try something and you're like, no, what about, what about we do this? And like actually we should do this like this. And I was like, okay, okay, let's do another take. And like we were just going. - Yeah, those are the ones. - And we were just flowing and it was so exciting. And it was so much, like recording the first time I had such a high and this like blew it out of the wall. Like it was so incredible. It felt so real. And it was hilarious. Like we got done today and we were like on this high and then all of a sudden I was like, oh my goodness. - It's awesome. - It is, it is exhausting. Yeah, yeah, it is. You put a lot into it and it takes a lot out. - Yeah, and a good way I think you kind of empty yourself in some way. - But like I think it's just so awesome. Like Lane, how you're not overly precious about any of this stuff you've written and you're just super collaborative. And I'm like, let me just try a few things here and there and like you love it. - I do love it. - Yeah. - And it's just so much fun and it's great where you're not just like, why wrote it this way? - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - You know, I mean, the great thing about this. I was telling that as I was like, dude, end of the day, it's not my stuff anyway. This is Tolkien stuff. Like that's the cool thing. - Don't start yourself short. - No, but come on. - Come on. - Yeah, because ultimately it is. I'm like, I'm not doing this if it's not for Tolkien stories and if it's not for his writings on Hobbits and none of us are. - And yeah, the cool thing is what I think Matthew says, writing it up, but is your open. - I don't want smoke. - No, you're open. - No, it's coming. - It's coming. - It's a whole mouthful. - Oh. - But it is awesome. - It is. - Okay. Like literally you're open to that spirit of like, okay, well this is someone who knows Tolkien. Who loves Tolkien. And that's what's so cool about this project is you have all these different people. - Right, I mean, who really care about the spirit of Tolkien and stuff and you found those people and you're like, this man knows this too. - And this man, you're open to that stuff. And so I think that is again really, really cool. - I think it's a mutual inspiration too. 'Cause like when I hear you bring Sam Dad to life, when I hear you bring faster to life than everyone who voices characters. Like I listen to them on their Google Drive, I listen to them when I'm doing rough cuts, I listen to them in the final production. And I get, I'm like, oh my gosh, okay, yeah, no, this is it. And I get to carry that forward with whatever I write next, what I envision next, whatever we do as a production team. - And that's what we are. - We're a production team. And I think to myself, it's so amazing how, yeah. And I think I do draw inspiration from Peter Jackson. I do give that team so much credit because I think about guys like Vigil Mortensen walking in. I just read the Cedar Daman, I don't know how true it is. I'm pretty sure it's true, but he had like a linguistic guide of talking that he would carry around. - Dang. - And he was like obsessed with that part of it because he's, you know, since like seven languages or something, he's obsessed with language. And you know, without him, I knew this part, but without him, there would be far less Elvish in Lord of the Rings. They'd written all those scenes between him and R-Win and him in Galadriel as just English. And he was like, can we do this in the Elvish? You know, if it's on real. - And so I think about like how much less real would have felt if Vigil wasn't bought? And so everyone, when I have like, when we have conversations and you guys, you guys do, I mean, almost everyone does. Like they just, when they have time, they ask me questions where I'm like, you know, I don't even thought about that. Like this is a great question. And it keeps me curious. And it keeps me from going like, well on page seven, I had written here, it's like, well, maybe I wrote that, but like maybe it's not, this seems to change, dude, like this, it's an evolutionary process that is alive and it feels, or it's gonna sound so cheesy to say, but it's like a total egomaniac. But it feels like this thing, that's not ours. It feels like this thing that talking, we're tapped into somehow, his spirit, his mythology, and we're just able to play in that world. And I don't know, it is fun. And everyone so far anyway has said this has been a blast. I've had a really good time. You have been, it's a really small, she's short like day recording or whatever. And that to me is the most important part because I want to be something that people are proud of that they enjoy doing. And they know how much, 'cause again, without your recommendation, without you telling me to never stem it. Yeah, and don't ever. This is just an idea that stays in my head. And I told you this, and I told you this before too, I was looking at Matthew and then as I heard, I forgot the mics were there. No visual here, forgot the mics were here. But like, the beautiful thing about this too is we're putting like, we're putting little books on a shelf. And you know, if something happened and everything fell apart and we never made another episode, episode one to me is complete. Like it's something that's up there that wasn't there before. And you think about episode, you got Eleanor, you got Fashard, you got Sam Dad, you got Arwen, you got Erragorn, you got Faramir, it makes sense. - Yeah, pretty good. - It's stacked, it's stacked. You got Daisy Boffen and the by-water market and you got Minas Tirith and you've got the Pelinor fields and all these incredible, you got Hobbitfoot, the Dengus. You got Juni Wittfrozen and you've got a Fox, calling in the background and you've got Tolkien's Trees and all this stuff. And yeah, I don't know, I just think like it's complete. And each part of this like season one on its own would be complete. Season one and two would feel complete. The whole series feels complete and so anyway, it's something I'm very, very proud of and that like without people's shared passion that they put into it, it wouldn't be that. It wouldn't be special. - It's a passion project. - Yeah, yeah. - And it's something you've captured the spirit of Tolkien. I think the people who have read the scripts and sort of know the story that is coming and the things that are happening. I was like, I've seen behind the curtain, my friend. Actually, to be honest with you, I got so fired up and I even think about like when I recorded the Sam Dad lines, it was a different time in my life. And it was a different time in this podcast. - Yeah, true. - Because we were in kind of when I recorded that, that was 24, right? - Yeah, I mean, it was even before LA, before my renewed sort of like getting back into it. It was still good. - Oh, great. - But like, it was just sort of like after LAP3, I've had this like, I almost wonder how, you know, like when I recorded stuff, because I hear you talking like coming here at how different it is and how cool that is. And stuff. I'm super pumped just listening to you in the beginning, talk about stuff. And then as it's sort of grown and you continue to, because you were still writing some stuff. You were telling me that you're writing it. The story is unfolding. And as it is unfolded, I'm like, holy smokes. - Yeah, it's wild dude. - Holy smokes. So what's in your head? I'm so glad that you, you just, you can't. You can't let that sit there. It will burn, it will literally like, I don't know, I think there are things, this is gonna sound crazy. We've done this, this, you're right. I'm going, there are things inside of us that we just need to let out, okay? And I'm sorry these guys laugh. But like, so truly, like if you don't, it eats you up a little bit. You kinda like. - He's like fan or? - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - The burning inside. Like in, but the good version. - The good version. - The good version. - Yeah, yeah, you bad boy. You let that out. - You let that out. - And you let that out. - And that's right, you know, you're bringing forward a sumeral, that wasn't there. Like you're bringing forth an arc and stone that we didn't know about. Like, dude, it's actually, and again, I've said this over and over again, but like, I have now challenged, I'm not challenged, but I've told you like, hey, highlight the heck out of the script and show me. - I've started putting, we've got a note shared note. - Yeah. - Okay, good, yeah, yeah. - Show me the nuggets of like, lore and different things. Let me go hunt some of this stuff down 'cause I want to do some stuff on my channel, plan a wizard and just sort of make some vids. Just shorts, the things that I make, you know. And I'm like, I want to promote, I have a plan, this sort of plan to kind of like, promote more of this for us to get in just a tease. Just a tease, like some other things coming in the production of "Consourning How It's Said". I'm excited about. And I proudly, by the way, every Monday, I wear my hoodie. Matter of fact, it's starting to warm up and I was like, I might still be wearing, I'm like, cut the sleeves off that bad boy. - I might actually still, because everybody asked me, they're like, what is that? And I'm like, this is actually awesome. I love being able to tell people about it. - Humboldt by the way. - And it's just so much fun. And I think like, as we go along, we've not even, we're in the creation stage of still writing and having people record. And so it's so fun to be there. But like, once this starts to kind of come out and we start to actually push people towards it, I know again, you want to like, hit and gym out there, but like, the story of Eleanor and that story being told and faster, it is a cool, it's just a piece of the legendarium that like has to be told. People have to know about this. - And that mantra, that mantra that Tolkien, he said, he was like, I feel like the story's incomplete without something on Sam and his Eleanor. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - And it's like, there you go. I mean, we can help in our own little, and it might sound crazy or whatever, but no, I take pride in that, that we get to help complete Tolkien's stories on in that level. The only reason I enjoy keeping talking about it too, I know we bring it up every episode. It might be annoyed. I want people to know too, 'cause there are-- - It's a companion piece. - It is, and it's ever growing. So if you're out there listening, 'cause I'm getting to the point too, where I'm like, man, I'm developing a lot of roles, and we're starting to record for like season two and season three, and I think that's the point. I think a lot of people can do multiple roles, but I would love more voices. - Voices. - Yeah. - And I think that they've all come from up talking, talking, or like family and friends. And so if you're out there and you want to play a part, yeah, get a hold of us because I want this to be something that again, like we have these casting announcements on our Instagram. - Right. - You know, so and so is playing this character and that can be anyone. Anyone who wants to jump in is welcome. So and there's some people too, if you're listening, who got a hold me a while ago, that I actually have parts for now and I just haven't got a hold of them. So, yeah, if you're waiting on that spoiler, I'll get back to you. But yeah, so anyway, if that's something that you, you're listening to, like, dude, I would love, in the same way that I was like, man, I wish I could have been a part of the original trilogy, I wish could have been like, orc double or something. - Yeah. - I would have served in cookies in the catering tent. - Right. - There's an opportunity to be a part of concerning Hobbit. So, yeah. - Yeah. - Yeah. - It's so much fun. - A lot. - So, it's crazy to be with Fastard in the flesh. - I know. - Let me ask you a question. - I can't wait for it here. Has anyone else ever brought that character? - Fastard to life? No. And then we were, in fact, we were talking about this. I was like, it's so cool how many un, like listed but like unexplored characters that talking wrote about, and because it's such a small pool of media, that's been, I mean, it's the trilogy. It's the radio drama from '81. It's, you know, the Hobbit trilogy you've got, or I mean, you can list them all. There are characters like Fastard of Greenholm, who's largely kind of like, whitespaces too. There's a lot of whites in between, like, you know where he's from, you know, and like the whole basis of Fastard too, is I was like, you know, he, Eleanor is like a proud, like a proud and like crown jewel of a Hobbit. Like they people look at her and she must be an elf. Like she's so different and so exceptional. And so it's like, well, for, you know, for Fastard to be able to win her heart or in their hearts to be won by one another, you have to be a pretty exceptional Hobbit. So it's like, it's almost like you create Fastard because again, Tolkien wrote very little about him based on other people's relations with it. So he, you know, he and Eleanor end up together in their love and their love of each other's life. And then like even further, like he becomes the warden of the West March at the appointment of Sam Gamgee. So that's where, that's where, you will point me. I'm just, I'm literally like, and that's where, so that's where our time, like it's a little screwed up. And I'm gonna give away a story thing. It doesn't really matter. But when the West March is given in the radio drama 'cause Sam Dad's gone, it's gonna be done by someone that Sam, couple someone's that Sam knew very well. - Oh Lord. - That are in power. And they're gonna, it's gonna be an always a moment. They're gonna reveal that like, you know, before Sam Dad left, he knew this was coming. And holy smokes. He wants you to go out and to cultivate this place and make it a, you know, special place in the Shire. - And see, here's where I get so excited, okay? Because like some of this stuff, like I, like you'll tell me a character and I'm like, is that, did Tolkien, is this on Payton? - Where does that come from? - Where does it drive you to go explore these things? - Which is what I've always said. I wanted these, I was hoping, I was hopeful for that with like rings of power to everything. So now you're doing this, it's so niche. This is really such a cool niche thing. But again, as you said, it sort of taps into real true Tolkien spirit, real Codswad. I'm going out there and like walking the Shire and you have to see it, bro. - It's crazy. So I'm thinking like, I wanna almost like, have a little refresher before I go out there in terms of like, I get to see where the man walked and what he was feeling that spirit. And then you go back and be a part, I know. - I thought about it. - Get some ambience. - I'm telling you I'm going to go out and record at his grave, different places in Cods. I'm going to record. - Little market, go walk through your pocket. - Whatever you want, some ambient, something. Just because like, that is where the man walked. I'm going to be at Oxford. I'm just like, I'm so stoked to, will you tell me, whatever you want me to record there, whatever you want me to list. - You don't care. - You let me know, because I'm going to be walking around with like, me and Lucas. Yeah, I'm going to be outside the eagle and child. I mean, I'm going to be outside there, like unfortunately, it's not opening for another eight months. - It's not opening for another eight months. - So, again, I, people listening, it's like, let me tell you, start detailing some of the stuff at the Witch King. - Yeah. - And Arvadoe and stuff like that. - That's real. That's the legendarium that other people have not touched. Other creators, and you're like, hold on, this is, there's, it's so much. - We got you, baby. We got you. We got you. And so it's a fun radio drama that just has its pack, man, it's freaking low. - It's a great thing. - We were talking about that last night too. I was like, you know, from, it's crazy, 'cause in a lot of ways, like chapter two and three, they're taking a while to come out, because we're actually, we've gained another editor. - Yeah, right. - We actually have a sound, like a sound team now. So it's Jake, myself, who, again, I just do the rough cuts, and then his friend Arthur, who has joined, and we're very excited to have him. He and Jacob worked together before. He's Lord of the Rings fan, and Keen to jump in. He listened, and was like, hey, this is great. I'm very excited. - Yeah. - Which is amazing. 'Cause again, no reason to like it. I mean, this is the, what he could be like, nah, not for me. And I was kind of, - Right, well, that's okay. - Nervously, I was like, oh, jeez, please, hopefully. Hopefully, if it works out, 'cause this would be a big help. But like, in the same way that two and three, we're a pain in the butt to write at some points, where I was just like, man, Mike, I need help. I don't know. - Right. - And then it ended up being a really joyful thing, but I was just like, I feel stuck. This is such a big, I like, hobbit drama. - Yeah. - You know, like a big giant battle and war. I don't know if I get my head around. In the same way, I'm so excited to get it rough cut, and then just like slap it over to Jake and Arthur so they can explore and do these war things - Fun creatures. - And all kinds of crazy. I mean, epic. I told them, I'm like, I don't want this to be our Helm's Deep. - Let's freaking. - And so, and then, but that goes wrong in the end. But so it's like, literally, by the time you go from episode one to episode three, you will have experienced essentially everything you could possibly want in a drama about Hobbits. - Yeah. - You've got the simple life and the, what I think is the most fascinating, you know, relatable drama with Eleanor and Faster than Daisy and Frodo Lad and Rosie last in their whole family. And then you've got, you know, back in time with these hobbit archers going north and fighting the Witch King. And I mean, dude, in episode three, you got Glorfendo. - God dang. - We haven't asked you yet, but if you would want to play Glorfendo, I would love that. - Well, you have to coach it through an accident. - We'll get an accident. We'll do an accident because you can't sound like Sam Deck. 'Cause I can't, man, it's Glorfendo. - No, come on up, Boone. - Boone. - Boone, Oost has been secured. - No, I'm gonna take that bell wrong and slap it across. - You know what I'm saying? Like that kind of stuff. We got all these different elements. - And yeah, so. - Dude, is that Wormtong is Glorfendo? - Yeah, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, Glorfendo. - Oh man. - Is there a grave for, for, for Wormtong? Is there a, I don't know. - Do they bury him somewhere? - What can we go visit it? - I'm just saying like in a shire like this. - I disagree, point, dude. - Like, where'd they put it? - Well, and I don't know, 'cause in season three, we're getting the souring of the shire. - Dang. - So we'll explore, I'm, Grimo will be there. - That's dope. - What can we avoid some like this? - Why? - Oh, Sharky. God, you son of a guy. (laughing) - That's so crazy, that's so crazy. I really, I was talking to Lane the other day about the Palantir. And I saw him as say. - I know. - That's all I'm gonna say. I was like, and guys, it's not just like, "Oh, you're supposed to make it stuff up." It's real. - It's real. - It's real. This is real legend, Darren. This is really what Tolkien said. It's the unfinished tale stuff. It's like so insane, bro. - It is crazy. - And you have it in a radio drama. - Yeah. - That's, oh God, I can't, so anyways. - It's magical. - Okay. - It's magical. - Yeah. - Just stay tuned, stay patient, stay tuned, and I mean, yeah. - It's great. And it is really cool because I have like, I may see you was telling me like people at church, that her church are like, when's the next episode coming out? And she's like her pastor's a Lord of the Rings fan. And people are just like, what is there more story coming? Like what's happening? - Oh God, yeah. - Josh Dalkey, same thing. He's like, dude, I got people who were asking when my episode's coming out, like, you know, what's coming up in the next-- - Yeah, I've got people at school who, like, what they see them doing in the story. - Yeah. - They've listened. - Yeah. - So I'm like, that's cool. - Yeah. - It's wild. - Yeah, that is kind of cool because it was, originally, I think it was just like us. You know, it was just like people involved that were listening and through word of mouth. And like, and also like what they did in April Fool's joke, where they were like Peter Jackson announces a new film on the war in the North and the fight against the Witch King of Angmar. And so, of course, too bad that wasn't real. - Mike Charles jumps on it and says, hey, actually, in at Red Book of West March, we're telling this story. And I went and I'm like, you know, I'm gonna comment to you, I'm gonna say, hey, not a joke. We're actually covering this in chapters two and three. - Do that six. - So, you know, it's coming soon. - That's hilarious. - And it's like, yeah, you know, you get, you get a trickle of people coming in that are-- - I'm joined the story. - I'm actually really excited too. Like, honestly, like there's pieces that I think are so clever. There's bits and lore from that are talking in this radio drama that you could actually hear and experience in a really cool way. And I'm looking forward to promoting that. - That's my big thing. - Yeah, I'm sort of like, is I know, I have in my mind like a way in which we can do it. That would just gonna be freaking sick. - Especially once we have a couple audio clips or something like that. - Yes, I mean, it's gonna be all or so. It's exciting, it's exciting. So, all that to say, your handle is again, at Fastred, big, the man who's the-- - Fastred. - The man you can't find in the audience. - That's right. But we were talking about writing and I got the privilege. - It's a religion honor of reading, like a, kind of one of the, - Substack? - Substack, easy. - Yeah. - Ha, line, I'm glitching out, like a draft of a, what does it call a substack? I wanna say subreddit, I'm like, that is not the thing, not subreddit. - Good thing. - That you're working on this kind of revival of an old substack, right? - Right, a little bit. - Pretty much, or a reincarnation of it. Can you tell people about it, and if you're willing to share like where they're gonna be able to read this because people need to, I mean, we wanna read a book that I'd never even heard of before. - Okay, I'm down. - Let's go. - And I probably wouldn't understand. (laughing) - After that, I have to share. - Yes, yeah. - Oh man, okay, so it's called the Cultural Review on Substack, and the idea is to reawaken, re-imagine the idea of a 1920s Parisian cafe, a 1890s, Viennese coffee shop, these hubs of like world literature where ideas and passions and artistic people were able to come together and discuss these things from ideas to literature to art, poems, culture, all of this. And so this is something I've always wanted in my life. And I finally, something just recently was unlocked where I was like, you know what, if you can't find it, make it. - Yeah. - Wow. - And so, I came up with this idea to start the substack, almost to build that, and I call it a literary community. Like that's the idea, the Cultural Review, a literary community. So, honestly, I literally just started it. I haven't even posted my first essay or whatever that was showing lace. - I was blown away by it, man. - Yeah. - I was like, "Can I have read more please?" Like it was, and it was beautiful. It's about this, are they memoirs? - It's a memoir of a Hungarian guy on the Eastern Front in World War I. And so the Eastern Front's very interesting 'cause there's almost no record of it. And so, - Oh, that's so, yeah. - Of course, we would only get to the Western side. - Yeah, so it's a really interesting account and just some of his experiences actually reading that memoir is part of what inspired me to start this so it felt like a fitting first and post. - Yeah. - So yeah, hopefully it becomes a thing, let's see. - It blew me way too, because in that short excerpt I wrote or the draft, it talked about how like so many of these things are lost of time. Yeah, how this memoir was almost lost of time, because it was like written and kind of, it was like his grandson or his son. - His grandson inherited this manuscript that he essentially translated from Hungarian and edited. - This is very rare. - And this is Red Book of Fist. - And like God, it's also Christopher Tolkien. - Very, very Christopher Tolkien. - Yeah, that's wild. - My father's work in making sure it's shared. And you talked about these great valuable stories and real life accounts that would otherwise be lost to the void. - Yeah, to use your terminology. I'm like, that alone, I'm like, this is something you gotta read, man, this is something I wanna, so I think like maybe my new book list is gonna be the cultural review with Matthew Johnson. So I mean, it was just incredible. - And that's just like the first post. - It's many more. - More is gonna work. - We were talking last and all about films, right? Like you might have written films in there as well. Would you do music and albums and stuff like that? - Maybe, maybe. - Yeah. - You'd be really good at that. It's very musical. - Yeah, is it more just stories or is it actual literature? Is it like an actual literature? Essays, some films. - 'Cause that is a little bit different, but just so I've had this weird fascination here recently in the past few, past year or something, about I've been like even like looking up my own like family and different, like older stories about like, I've been thinking about like people who, where are their stories? What, like that in that memoir you're talking about, like that's an interesting one. I went and looked at old newspaper clippings. I was like, "God, just saying." I was like, "Wow, just to see like my great-grandpa "I mentioned it one." And then talking about what day they had a fan, it was like the short story in the Sunbury Gazette. - Wow, that was it. - And it was this like they had visitors that came in from out of town. And this was news for the small town. Like they had these people come in from the West Coast and they were visiting and how the family was connected. It's my great-grandpa talking through this sort of stuff and just sharing with the local reporter. Something interesting. I thought, "That's a story I never even. " So anyways, it's just, I know it's not literature, but this is interesting. This is really, I think a cool thing to bring people, you know, to. - And it struck me too. I'm like people who are into Tolkien would be into this concept for sure. - Well, I mean, yeah, just think about the idea of pouring through his letters and pouring through it and like an analyzing literature and then just commentary, social commentary, things back in those times. - And so it's so well written too. Like his. - Dominic, I want to. - It's amazing. - I'm down. - What about that laptop? What I was talking about this is, this is the whole idea behind it. To open up these conversations on this level about things. 'Cause it doesn't happen here every day. - You know, like what you guys built here, up to Tolkien's special, right? And so it's just, that's one of those things. - Oh, no. - Yeah, no, no, no. But I know I get you, that is really interesting. I really, that's. What is it? This is gonna be such a dumb question. What is a, like, sub-stack? - That's like the new blogging point. - New blogging point. - Okay, okay, okay. - I mean, really, what was it trying to mean? - If it was 2006, it'd be blogger. - Just, yeah. - Okay, let's be honest. - That get, no, 'cause I've been honestly, I've been seeing this phrase and I'm like, what does that mean? - Yeah. - Okay, it's like the newest platform where a lot of interesting writers are writing there 'cause they're able to monetize their writing without like a traditional, - Oh, that's nice. - All the shares. - So it's essentially connecting, and I'm not like trying to get money whatever. - No, but still, it's cool. It's like the idea of the sub-stack in general. - 'Cause I've heard this multiple times, people, you know. - It's almost like the new news. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - And you subscribe to a few sub-stacks, like that's what you get. - And people are always referencing certain ones that are piles of information, just a goal of mine of stuff. And I was like, what is it? Okay, I cool, I gotta look into it more. - Yeah, I'm excited. - Yeah. - That's cool. - Me too. - So go check it out. - Yeah. - Check out Matthew Jeff. - Yeah, yeah, go check it out online. - Yeah, yeah. - We're gonna create though like a fake like faster kind of thing. We'll start putting it in. - You can find me in the mountains and the hills and the rivers. - There we go. - That's right, man. I mean, we could, we didn't talk nearly enough about, about just you. - That's fine. - No, we know. - That's not how life people, - Yes, it is, yes it is. - There's a part two in the room. - There will definitely be part two. 'Cause like, the crazy thing about like, for Matthew's work, he essentially does the work of the ants. He restores. - Oh, bless. - He restores the natural world to its original state. - And go. - Literally, he showed me a video of a damn exploding. Just in releasing the river. And returning, returning, returning like, you know, or like restoring like salmon runs and stuff too, right? Like these fisheries that were, or like the fishing ecosystems that were destroyed by, you know, mankind being restored. - It's wild, bro. - Talking with love you. - Oh, that's why I said. - He's fast-read. He's talking about, he's talking about, - He's body's everything we, we, we, we, - We should have led with that. - This is like, are you talking? - Like what? - I'm reincarnated. - Can you imagine, you and Lucas, the two reincarnated tokens that can also exist. (soft music) - All right friends. We're here, we're ready for the chapter. We hope you enjoyed that time with Matthew Johnson. It was a man. I've relisted to that like twice our conversation, just 'cause it put me right back in the moment. And it was a moment all, remember forever. Had a lot of fun. I don't know, it's making friends through this podcast through uppers is a surreal experience because we meet people that we're already friends with, and it feels like we've been friends forever. Like we've known each other forever, even if we're meeting for the first time. And so anyway, we had an absolute blast. And yeah, hope you enjoyed it. Hope that came through, I'm sure it probably did, but hopefully it came through in our conversation. All right, Es, we're getting into the sun and the moon and the hiding of Valor. Es. Es. Es. Hey. I thought he was joking. He said he was gonna go get a double whopper, flame broiled, can't resist it, and a blizzard. I thought he was joking, but I think he's actually gone. I don't know what to do. So I guess I'll just proceed. It is a little suspicious though, that he would leave me, I don't, I don't wanna, I don't know how much I'm gonna talk about conspiracy theories, but we've already brought it up, right? Million as the plant. I don't know. I think it's odd that when we're talking about the sun and the moon, that I'm by myself, but that's fine. Nope, no problem. We can get into it. We can get into it. This is a great chapter. You know, something with the "Sylm-Rillion" that I've noticed is, this is on the shorter side, but this chapter, you could spend, my gosh, you could spend hours to days on, or you could spend 15 minutes. You know, I'm gonna try and shoot right in the middle 'cause I'm not gonna lie. I don't know what's going on with me. I don't know if it's the end of the, as reminded me of this, it's the end of the year teaching. I could have recorded this chapter already probably six different times over the last week, and I just haven't. And it's just because I like, I haven't, I don't know if you know what I'm talking about, where I got the equipment set up now, the weather's nice. I just leave it out in the garage, and I just had to walk out to the garage, and sit down, and read, and go through the chapter. That's all I had to do, but it just seemed like impossible. I was like, "I can't do that. It's impossible. That's impossible." Part of the reason, too, is like, anytime as an I record, we've always felt this, so I don't even think we can help it, honestly, but we've always felt like, even if we feel exhausted before or exhausted after, when we're in the moment, we've got to bring energy, because talking deserves that, his works deserve that. We deserve that as partners in the podcasting realm, but most importantly, you guys deserve that, right? 'Cause we always think, gosh, not to compare ourselves to Michael Jordan. I thought that would be wrong. And I know some people don't like when we do sports analogies, but Michael Jordan, this might just be one of those mythological misquotes that's attributed to him. He always was kind of quoted as saying, "The reason he never took any nights off, the reason he didn't do rest, or have a cap on his minutes or whatever, like if he was healthy and could play, he played, every single game." And he said, one of the reasons for that is because somebody is bringing their kid to their very first game, and they would like to see me play. Someone is out there who's followed my whole career. This is the one chance they get a shot of seeing me play. I owe it to them. I owe it to these people, my fans. There's something, man, that sort of lost in sports, I think, where athletes felt like a deep connection to their fans, whatever, again, an analogy, because that's not at all. But you get what I'm saying, like we don't want to take any time off, because there might just be one, I hope there's just one, at least. One person who's like, man, was really looking forward to this episode, needed something, was wanting as, but lanes here, that's fine. We got Dennis Rodman, instead of Michael Jordan, or Larry Bird, or Reggie Miller, whoever, as is in this analogy, will take him. It's better than nothing, the game's on, and I can listen to a little bit of the summer really. And so anyway, so some nights, I'm like, I just don't think I have it in me. I know as has, well, no, he, I don't know if he's ever felt that way. I don't know how wizard's think, honestly, it's sort of beyond me. But there have been nights where I'm like, I want to record, I have time to record, but I don't know if I have it in me. And so those nights, I've always tried to be like, don't force it, you know? Don't force it, like the last thing you want to do is get on there, record, and it's just, (mimics snorting) because someone's gonna hear that and be like, "Nah, so anyway, Hugh shout out to Goldberry, she's putting all the kids to bed tonight." Ruthie had her, kind of like a warm up for her recital, they go to a retirement home, and they put on their dance routine, and Wendy and Charlotte art dancing this year, but Ruth is, and I think the other two might want to, you know, rejoin again. So anyway, it was a busy night, and she's like, "I want you to be able to go out and record, you're not up until midnight." So, yeah, I'm out here, and I'm gonna try to not make it too lengthy, because it is a great chapter. So I want to split hairs, kind of coming back to that original thought. I want to split hairs here. I actually want to try too. I know it's impossible, but I'm gonna shoot for it. I'm gonna thread the needle. I'm gonna not go for three hours. You know, I'm gonna talk about the, Tolkien's actually explaining here the phases of the Moon might. It's like, "Condivate credible." And I'm not gonna just gloss over like, "Yeah, you know, Moon's son, there they are." You know, I don't know. Is the, is Middle-Earth flat? Now listen, guys, okay, another, another preface that I just have to make. Don't blame me, blame Tolkien, okay? It's not my fault. It's Tolkien's fault. 'Cause again, a lot of crazy stuff happens as chapter. All right, you got the Sun and the Moon being put up in the clouds. Now, I don't know if you guys know this. The clouds aren't 93 million miles away, okay? Local, local source of light. You know, when they're traversing the Earth, they go up and they set and then they go under the Earth. And they, like, that's part of the reason the Moon gets kind of lost and attacked is going under the Earth. Doesn't sound like a speared me. It doesn't sound like a globe. Not only were you saying, "Tolky was a flat-Earth or?" No, dude, no. That's not what I'm saying. I didn't say that. Or you're saying you're a flat-Earth or? No, dude, I got questioned at work today. My principal was there three or four colleagues. You're a flat-Earth or aren't you, Lane? I said, "No." No, no. But I don't know, okay? I haven't been to space, guys. Have you been to space? Unless you're one of like 40 alleged people, I don't think you have. It's more than that I know. But no, you haven't been to space either, okay? I haven't been to space. You haven't been to space, all right? I just don't know. Well, you don't believe NASA? Not really. No, I don't think I do. You don't believe the federal government? No. I, no, I don't, really. You don't believe the media, bro, what's, no. I, I, I don't. So that's just not enough for me. If I can get up there and see no problem, dude. Sometimes faith is cool, right? It serves. Sometimes seeing is believing. There's a reason we have both, we have both tenants in our society, I think. I will just say this, explain this one to me, okay? Explain this one to me. And this has nothing to do with the earth being flat. This is just questioning our past. I really hope that I feel like a, I feel a red laser on my forehead. I know I'm in the garage and that's impossible, but I feel like there's a red laser lined up with my head. And I'm thinking maybe that's why Ed's abandoned me. He even said to me too, he said, "Make sure you bring up flat earth." I said, "What, dude?" I was like, "Go and solo?" You want me to bring up conspiracy theories at length, going solo. He said, "Yeah, yeah, you'll be fine." I sort of feel like this is a lot of scientists are going missing. I'm sure that they would have no thoughts of just popping off a podcaster, okay? So if I don't make it out, you guys won't hear this anyway, but it's at least it's into the universe now. I will say that. This is all I want to know. Explain it to me. Tricky Dick Nixon, okay? Do you know what that is? That's Richard Nixon, our president, former president in the '60s. He, according to NASA, according to the media, according to the federal government, picked up a landline and spoke to Neil Armstrong on the surface of the moon with no delay. Okay? In 1969. Yet, when I'm talking to Ed's on the phone in 2026, using our cellular devices, he lives on a hill mind you. The signal gets dropped. He's on the high ground and it's like, (imitates a sound) What do you mean? As? As can you hear me? Yeah. (imitates a sound) As, as, hello? As? As? God, sorry, dude. I just had to walk down the road. Where are you? You're lower now? Yeah, dude. I think there's a taller hill beside us. And that's what's blocking. Yeah, that makes sense. So anyway, all that to say, this is an interesting description of kind of the mechanisms of the sun in the moon, even kind of details about the planet, like the Earth, it's Arda. It's very interesting to think about. There is that map that looks like an eye, right? It's very interesting. I remember busing that out on the first time we did, the fall start of the Silmarillion, or the vision of the song, I guess, really. And it was a wild thing. I'm like, wow, this is like a disc. It's a damn disc. So anyway, I don't know. And I know a lot of you're saying, "Lean, the Earth is reformed." Okay. You don't need to have any red all the Silmarillion. You don't even know the reshaping beer. Okay, yeah, I know. I don't know that. I'm an idiot. Okay. I'm finding my way. My partner in crime just left. He left me for a cheeseburger, guys. He left me for a cheeseburger and a heath blizzard. Think about that for a minute. Okay. How would you feel? Would you just believe that the Earth is a sphere? Because Walter Cronkite told you so in 1969. That's the moon landing, but would you believe that either? If your best friend just left you for a cheeseburger I Think you'd probably question a lot of things, you know, I don't know if I'll ever see him again I hope so I hope I do But I don't know And that's kind of the point. I think that's the point. I'm trying to make it terribly. I'm making it awfully but Mystery is okay. Mystery is cool. Not knowing is actually kind of awesome I mean ignorance is bliss is a saying for a reason, you know, and not I'm not saying like Ignorance in terms of like You know bigotry or anything like that. I'm saying just like not like allowing yourself to wonder I don't understand science guys. I think most of you probably understand that but now But it to me it's a form of magic. I'm like this just like what huh? How? and so but I'm okay with that like I am able to look at people who do understand and marvel at them and Their gifts and their talents because it's not something I have. It's not a pension of mine, you know, so Yeah, I think when water boils. I'm like blown away. I'm like, who does it do that? It's amazing to me. I am a child, but that's okay. You guys already knew that Let's get into talking alright because all the confusion in the world All of the flat round curve firmament all this stuff Local son 93 million miles away perfect size, you know the same to just eclipse I'm like gonna go and eclipse can happen. Huh? What? um All the mysteries of the universe talking makes sense. He he does he does So let's just me stop and let's get into this So chapter 11 of the Sun and the moon and the hiding of Valor and we get them in exactly that order We get a description of what the Sun and Moon are and then at the very end of this we get how Valor is hidden and guarded and girdled if you will No thongs just girdles So we go all the way back here to after melcores darkening, okay? And the Valar are sitting there unmoved upon their thorns in the ring of doom and remember this right remember this a few chapters I go I'm not even gonna lie and pretend I know what chapter it is. It was a few chapters ago was right after well as the chapter would jick Chapter eight I believe when the the trees were Essentially, well, I'm not gonna say all the way destroyed, but almost fully destroyed by Melkor or as it became known more goth after fan or renamed him and on Goliath and uh The response of the Valor was kind of weird to us. We're like they're just sitting there, you know, and it's kind of like Hey guys the lights are out Literally loss of power right which is what we were dealing with leading up to that episode in real life What what are we doing here, you know like when when power goes out on earth You got a swarm of ADP guys Electric people they go out the linemen they they in no time It relatively in no time you've got power on again, right depending on on where you are in the country It's a or the world. It's amazing Meanwhile the valoir to sit in there What we assume is sitting on their hands dumbfounded hurt You know like portrayed All right, so what's the plan we have a plan here like what's going to happen and shame on us, you know Shame on me really for even implying that was their response. We see here at the beginning of this chapter that they're deep in thought right um, but It says here the valoir May work thing many things with thought rather than with their hands. They're pretty much in a deep meditative state Where they're using telepathy to try and figure this all out telepathy ventriloquiz will miss a formal telepathy uh best in show. I don't know if you guys have ever seen best in show Christopher guest his movies are incredible. I love everything he does waiting for guffman is my absolute favorite but best in show is probably the best known ironically it one best in show of his shows and movies whatever um but semantics the uh His character in best in show the bloodhound doggy His talks about ventriloquiz if you have not seen best in show Go see it if you haven't seen waiting for guffman run and get a copy um I was shopping for my wife Bonnie I buy most of her clothes and Mrs. Pearl was in the same shop and it just was an accident, you know We started talking about pantyhose and she was saying but what it's not the point is the point is that you find people I don't know what is it you to find people It's like you're thrown in a rubber bag and put in the trunk of a car But we found them you know so anyway it's a great movie uh you might have to go rented it like uh I don't know a library rented you might check it out a library that might be on DVD somewhere um But go check it out so anyway telepathy um They are holding counsel with one another trying to figure out what to do um And they're morning right and they're actually this is the crazy thing Not the death of the trees so much as the marring of fennor This what this really struck me. I was like they're more it's just this blew my mind They're more sad about what has been done to fennor Then What happened to the trees? And I wish somehow like fennor could have understood this I don't know if it would have changed his mind because of how he how he is and how they did go on to describe him here He's just the most beautiful the most talented the most um You know of all the L. Dar he is just like the Silmarils like the jewel. He's the crown jewel of the L. Dar Of the firstborn And again, I don't know if it would have changed his mind to know how deeply Like his falling Sits with them, but it should Uh it affects us as an audience. It's like oh my gosh dude more than the because we know how big of a deal the trees are right For that to be a bigger deal is It's wild. It's wild. Yeah, it's it's Tolkien's Sessier for fennor was made the mightiest in all parts of body and mind and valor and endurance and beauty In understanding and skill and strength and in subtlety alike of all the children of aloovatar and a bright flame was in him again So we're talking about like like the you know the loss of the trees was a loss of light But the loss of or the moring of fennor his wounds and his reactions to the entire situation Is almost like kind of the extinguishing of a flame It's crazy. It's just it's wild. Uh it goes on to say that monway wept right Monway wept. I mean, but that's like you know, it's like when you read the bible you see Jesus wept It's like gosh dang he wept and bowed his head yeah Yeah, and this is when when the vanyar who held vigil with the valar Came and told them that the messengers declared to monway the answers of fennor to his heralds How he just said like not a chance bro. Nope. Nope. No. Thank you I'm gonna go and the valar crap and they're trying to destroy us all so Yeah Yes, so he goes on uh talking to talk about There there is some hope right that monway has a little bit of hope for the noldore So shall it be deerbought those songs shall be accounted and yet shall be well bought for the price could be no other Thus even as a ruse spoke to us Shall beauty not before conceived be brought into aah and evil yet be good I'm sorry and evil yet be good to have been so you know essentially saying that like there will be There will be good that will come from this you know That there is still hope that um They then we see here in a minute with what they go in and and try Essentially to try to revive the trees try to save the trees is what they're doing You know the what we end up seeing is them getting the light from it as a result But I you know, I think it's pretty clear Tolkien says that they're they're they're making a last attempt to To resuscitate them to bring them back to life So if there wasn't any hope they I don't know I feel like at this point that kind of be like Why what do we do here guys like how we failed utterly uh or how we been defeated Uh have we lost um is the song over You know because again that's that's it is you could glance over this really quickly But it is in the Valar's mind always the the bringing to Life of that vision That they saw you know when they were with when they were i nor and with a root And that's their their job their duty. That's why they came To Arda is to to try and bring that that song to life and and bring that vision to reality You know a Mondos kind of speaks a little bit of foreboding here He says and yet remain evil to me shall fan or come soon. It's like dang dude. Wow. You know what he's done There's gonna be repercussions For what he has done So anyway, I'm at the end of that opening kind of portion. I want to apologize to all the Valar. I'm sorry. I thought you guys were just sitting there numb and lacking leadership. And I see now that you were you had a lot to process, right? You had a lot to process. You had yourselves a lot of hurt that you were, you know, kind of trying to suss out and figure. Um, and, and again, you know, they are like all different instruments of the same music. They're different parts of the same body. And so them being together, they would need that to be like, okay, what's the next move? What do we do? What do we do? Gotta get the lights on. Got to get the lights on. And who do we need for that? Well, we need Yvonne and we need Neanna, all right? Um, and it's Montway who says, come, Heather, please, ladies, I need some help. All right. And he asked them to put all their powers of growth and healing upon the trees. All right. So again, I think I think this could be something that I like I overlooked because again, my brain, but I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, they, you know, they got the light out of the trees. That's what they were going for. No, they're trying to save the trees. They were, their hope was, maybe there's some juice left, you know, maybe they didn't get all the sap out of these bad boys. Maybe there's some light left. And you know, this is incredible too. I think about this with, with Tolkien and like, of course, of course, what we're about to see the sun and the moon would come from the trees, right? Like the sources of light, whether they be, you know, the day star or the night lamp, right? That those actually came from trees, right? We always think about trees needing the sun, then also you know, needing darkness as well. Plants need the darkness at night, but needing the sun and it's like, no, do the sun came from them. All right. You got it wrong. That's how powerful trees are to this man and how powerful they should be. You know, and I think how powerful they were all to all of us, you know, as talks about Lucas all the time about how he like talks to trees and, you know, it's like Tolkien reincarnate. He's a, he's a tree lover. And I think about my kids, they're obsessed with trees and I think they don't even understand their talking the trees at the time. Like we, we had two willow trees that we tried to plant and, or we, we did plant. Um, one of them did really, really well for like a year and a half. And then all of a sudden, it just died. It got bright and died. Replan it with another willow. Same thing happened. I mean, we mourned the loss of those trees and actually a huge shout out. This is so random. People are going to be like, Hey, what are you talking about? I just feel like I have to speed this out. Brian from Lancaster Greenhouse in Lancaster, Ohio, one of the most amazing guys ever. So like I had questions about those trees this whole time. And, you know, he would, I would email him and he was sending these law. I didn't have to do this. I was a customer. I bought a tree. He didn't have to reply at all. Definitely not to my like, you know, anxiety. And he was like, dude, he said, try this, try this. Uh, he, you know, you know, this, it's a good tree. You're a good caretaker and I'll be praying for your tree. Like legit, legit. I'm praying for your tree. Um, you know, when I told him that the second one didn't make it, he said, um, he said, it, you know, I said, I feel kind of, you know, it might kind of sound kind of weird, but like it's something I'm mourning. And he was like, he said, that doesn't sound weird to me at all. He said these things are like our, because they have a greenhouse, right? He's like, each one of these plants is like a child of ours. And I, some people will say that you're like, oh, okay, I gave you this dude for real, for real. Um, and I believe that. And I think about that, like just how powerful that connection is to trees. But anyway, also so cool to that, you know, we're going to see them be the reason or the source of the sun and the moon, right? In a minute and to think about how trees like grow to the heavens, like reaching towards that, that light, it's just so cool, dude. It's just so cool. The way Tolkien has ways of explaining things. Um, it's mind boggling. It's mind boggling. Let's get, let's get back to, to what's going on though. So Yvanna and Niana are tasked by Monway to try and save the trees. Um, but it, it, it doesn't work. You know, even with Niana's, um, tears and, and the power of, of Yvanna, uh, singing, it says, I have to read this because it's just so beautiful. I, I'm always torn like, well, how much do I read? How much do I not read? But like, there's so much here that, uh, yeah, even if it just drives you to go read the chapter, it's worth it. But the tears of Niana availed not to heal their mortal wounds. And for a long while, Yvanna sang alone in the shadows. But, but because of this man, because they, I'm convinced because they didn't give up the trees found away. And there's power in that because they didn't give up, you know, crying, Niana is known for her tears and her, her, the power of her mourning. And Yvanna is, I mean, she's the, the goddess of everything that grows, right? Singing alone in the shadows, all the other Valarov doing stuff. They're sleeping, whatever they're doing, but she is not giving up. Even as Hope failed and her song faltered. And this is big. This is talking in a nutshell right here. This right here, if everything else gets thrown out of the window that I say in this episode, please just because this is huge. This is, this is his philosophy in a nutshell, yet even as Hope failed and her song faltered, "Telparion bore at last upon a leafless bow one great flower of silver." All right, that's where the moon's going to come from. And Lorelin, a single fruit of gold. That's where the sun's going to come from. So the silver flower from "Telparion," which they're going to figure out fashion into the moon itself. And a single fruit of gold from Lorelin, which will become the day star. Yeah, but I mean, that's it. Even as Hope failed and her song faltered, that's when Hope was rekindled and sustained. In the darkest hour, the eye begins to see. That's what it is. I love this line. "These Yvana took." Okay. So she takes them. And then this is really fascinating to the tree's die. And they just continue to stand there. This is a wild thought that, you know, I'm imagine think about like Frodo and Gandalf and Sam eventually when he gets there and Elrond, they go wander around and go see these trees, you know? Like these, these, the monuments, these just these dead monoliths that were once "Telparion" and Lorelin. Yeah, a memorial of vanished joy is what they were. Yeah, what they were. So, okay. The flower in the fruit, Yvana gives it Aule, right? Monway blesses them. Bless them. Come on now. And Aule and his people, they make vessels to hold them and keep their radiance, right? You think about that. Do you need a fridge for these bad boys? You need a fridge. A flower in a fruit, they're going to get rotten unless they're preserved. So yeah, I think, I think probably Aule invented the first, you know, whirlpool, frigidair, whatever. I mean, just throw them in there, keep them, slow down the decaying process. We want to save, save this powerful light. We get a really cool, so the song of the sun and moon is called the Narcillion and that's kind of where this tale is pulled from and told from. Yeah, these vessels, they gave to Varda and, you know, hoping that again, in the same way that the stars are out there, that they could be turned into some kind of lamps in the heavens that would outshine even the old stars that are already, you know, a part of the sky, but that they would be closer to Arda. Okay, again, sorry guys, I mean closer to it. Okay. Well, the sun is closer than the stars laying you dummy. I get it, bro, I get it. Okay. I'm going to sing. I'm not singing a song. I'm not. Don't call me that. Don't blame me. Blame talking. Just to read what the guy said. And she gave them power to traverse the lower regions of Ilmen, the heavens and set them to voyage upon appointed courses above the girdle of the earth. The girdle of the earth. It kind of sounds like a firmament. I don't know. As save me, buddy, I feel I feel the laser from the west onto the east and to return. Okay. This next part I'm going to read because it's just so beautiful and it's an awesome description and we get kind of the the the the my are that are in charge of the sun and the moon. It's incredible. Dude, so let's just get into it. I'm going to hazard a reading here. These things the Valar did were calling in their twilight, the darkness of the lands of Arda and they resolved now to illuminate middle earth and with light to hinder the deeds of melcor, we're going to scare them away, right? We don't know exactly what to do, but we're going to scare melcor. High ace. High boy. You want to talk? What do you want to say? You want to play fetch. I'll play with you a little bit. I'm going to wrap this up. I know I'm going long, but I'm going to go fast. Okay. And they resolved now to illuminate middle earth with light to hinder the days of the sun. So for they remembered the avari that remained by the waters of their awakening and did not utterly forsake the Noldore in exile. right? They don't want the elves to just be thrown into the wolves. In a monway, new also that the time of men is drawing nigh. That's another thing right that they've been thinking about like they're they're the afters the after you know the the born after the second cumbers. And it is said indeed that even as the Vilar made war upon Melkor for the sake of the quendy so now for that time they for for the sake of the hill door the aftercomers the men the younger children of Aluvatar for so grievous had been the hurts of middle earth in the war upon a tomb know that the Vilar feared less even worse should now befall whereas the hill door should be mortal and weaker than the quendy to withstand fear and to malt right they need more light they need more help their but a vapor moreover it was not revealed to manway where the beginning of men should be. Ah it's also very important right light at the whole place north south or east therefore the Vilar sent forth light but made strong the land of their dwelling okay that's another really interesting thing to think about too and the next chapter is of men so we're gonna get men awakening and spoiler alert men awake to the sunrise right the very first sunrise I think it's my view in this chapter it might be spoiler alert but the very first sunrise is when men awake and it's just so cool again Tolkien gosh dude like you explain you explain a race of people a group of people from how they are even awoken like elves awake to the stars and we think about stars being like eternal and you know like never changing and fixed in these like things that you can count on a rely on and like I mean this astrology is a thing right so it's like you can you can predict things from the stars in the stars it's fate it's forever it's long living they're there every night doesn't change and that's of course what wakes the elves up you know the immortal the the long lived the the special ones the first born right and it's the a sunrise you think about the sun rising and then it sets again in one day and you know compared to the lives of elves the lives of men is but a day and that's how they're awoken you know and with the knowledge that they only got they don't count their their their lifespan in stars right numerous even just the number of them right there's numerous you know not numerous limitless stars right they're everywhere to our knowledge anyway infinite stars that's how many years the elves have but you know when the sun's in the sky you don't see any other stars right it's the only star you see and yeah and it's quick it's quick so again that's really a beautiful symbology that talking lays into the the birth of these of the first and the second born which is really cool the aftercomers I should say okay because they're not really a second born this is the dwarfs sorry guys I don't know and they're you know that's kind of cool that they we don't know where they what are they wake up to I don't know the clang of rocks or something who knows so here we go Esel the sheen the vanyar of old named the moon flower of telparyon in valenore and anar the fire golden fruit of Lorelyn they named the sun so Esel is the moon which I think Gandalf utters when he's talking about moonlight Esel at the gates of Moria in the fellowship really cool little deep cut there and anar the sun but the noldor named them also Rana the wayward and Vasa the heart of fire I'm gonna challenge you guys go out and call the moon Rana and call the sun Vasa and see if it'd be I'd be a cool like who's read the film really I wouldn't I wouldn't get you know what he's speaking there what is that a language but anyway that's their names for the sun and the moon that awakens and consumes for the sun was set as a sign for the awakening of men and the waning of the elves but the moon cherishes their memory just so beautiful okay now the my are in charge of each of these bad boys these celestial beings oh you gotta have someone to charge all right and you got a little tension you know what I'm saying I know this is a family show but you got a little bit attention between the sun and the moon I mean what are they doing up there together they're in the sky at the same time sometimes which again I don't fully understand explain it to me okay mr. PhD of you know worldwide web explain it to me all right anyway what are they doing up there together you know when they both disappear on a moonless night where are they what are they doing where those stars come from you know what I'm saying I don't know making a lot of plants down here that's all I know so the moon's not responsible for how do you know dude how do you know okay the moon controls the tides that's pretty that's pretty big deal or allegedly anyway according to science so anyway you gotta have a little bit attention and we kind of get this I think anyway I'm reading into it maybe that's what I am the maiden of the Valar I'm sorry the the mate the the my are the Maya maiden geez that's a mouthful that the Valar chose to guide the vessel of the sun was named Aryan Aryan Aryan Aryan thank you good job and he that steered the island of the moon was Tillion so you've got Tillion the man the moon and you've got Aryan that smoking hot lady you know that's what you need dude you need a man in the moon and a hot beauty cool and hot the Yin and the Yang Sun and the moon tell his odyside song is odys rhyme song and the moon Aryan and tell you I don't know what I'm doing okay that's enough I don't even know where I heard that recently but it's just in there baby beauty the beast God that is a son of the moon beauty in the beast except you know what bro that sounds a beast dog that's all I know okay so yeah their their backstory is very interesting because Aryan had tended the golden flowers in the gardens of Vanna so that's pretty sick you're just gonna be doing your job from up high you know and watered them with the bright do's of Loreland but Tillion was a hunter of the company of ORAM and he had a silver bow he was a lover of silver and when he would rest he forciked the woods of ORAM and going into Loryon he lay sorry Loryon he lay in dream by the pools of estay until Perions flickering beams and he begged to be given the task of tending forever the last flower of silver so cool man so he wanted this dude he wanted this like Aryan is given the sun because she's just like a natural talent dude that's what she's used to doing but Tillion is like I used to I wow that's just hitting me now I used to sit and rest in the shade sit and rest in the shade of Tile Perion please please let me guard and tend her last flower of silver forever I'm just faded excuse me I just burp so Aryan you know she's mightier than him okay and she was chosen because she had not feared the hearts of Loreland and was unheard by them being from the beginning of spirit of fire also this is important because Melkor fears her he's afraid of flames you know it goes all way back to the flame in perishable I don't know couldn't couldn't didn't understand it couldn't really find it longs after it but he's scared of it and so that's also why she's chosen they want the sun to scare him away why not have someone who he's kind of freaked out by anyway okay so these are then crafted we have the the flower and the fruit which are used to craft the moon and the sun and it's absolutely incredible Esel was first wrought and made ready and first rose into the realm of the stars and was the elder of the new lights as well as tell Perion of the trees the moon comes first then for a while the world had moonlight that makes sense to you got it you can't just like turn the lights on right away you're gonna walk into a room you throw the lights on you're blinded you're blinded you throw the sun up in the sky first all of middle earth instantly blind well sorry guys I didn't think that would happen you're used to distant stars we thought it'd be okay our bad no we get moonlight first genius absolutely genius this is really cool because it sort of stirs up all those seeds and saplings and dormant plants that Yvonne had laid long ago The moon wakes those up. I have to dig into some science and some horticulture to see if there is truth of that if that's kind of when plants start to waking up or Awaken, I should say someone has shaken their head right now like dude, did you fall asleep in biology? Yeah, I did I Fell asleep in a lot of classes. I'm not proud of it. I was tired. I was up praying the night before so jokes on you But yeah, the moonlight starts to stir these things awake and This is kind of crazy Okay Servants of morgoth they're filled with amazement. Hmm Amazement so could be good could be kind of a fear could be sort of the what-a-mit We don't really necessarily know But the elves looked up into light and even as the moon Rose above the darkness in the west Finn golfing let blow his silver trumpets Let's go doggy and began his marching to middle earth and the shadows of this host went long and black before them So this is really cool. This is gonna, you know, obviously it's a timestamp here, right? This is a Fingulfon kind of you know spurred on by the moon Let's go Gary Norman Gotta love that. Gotta love that Gosh that kombucha tastes like a taste like a I don't know it tastes like a fruit of tilparion quite honestly It's delicious Okay, so that's the moon that's rana Now we go to the sun Vana um This is interesting to get like the the number of seven of you know the number gods number of completion You know tillion had traversed the heaven seven times and thus was in the furthest east when the vessel of adion Was made arian. Why do I keep saying I don't know if I'm saying that wrong guys. Excuse me Aryan Then a nar a rose in glory the first dawn of the sun was like a great fire upon the towers of the pelore man Yeah, it would be You know think about like when you've seen the sunrise hit the mountains first it is unbelievable It's unlike any other kind of light It's I mean, it's the newest light right It's the very firstest light Especially if it's like you're in a place where there are tons of mountains you look up It's the first place the sun hits You know It's the tallest thing first Mountains are pretty tall guys. I do know that about science Uh, and the clouds of middle earth were kindled. Oh gosh. Can't you just envision this guys And there was heard the sound of many waterfalls then indeed more goth was dismayed and dude He's gonna just go crawl down into a hole is what he's doing um You know he again Like I just paraphrase descended into the uttermost depths of Ongbond and with true his servants sending fourth great Reek and dark cloud to hide his land from the light of the day star I love that it's called the day star - Like what a cool thing it is the only star you see during the day, right? I mean unless it's like dusk or dawn when when there there's kind of a little the the strongest planets or lights that are are twinkling in the sky Um The day star. It's just a wild thing. It's so what a cool name. I know. It's probably ancient But I just it's something we know I would love to call Dude what time of the day star arrives today? Hey, do you know what time the day star is setting? I think we need to bring that back. I don't know Yeah, so the vessels This okay, so Varta is kind of like all right. We need to get this figured out here. Okay, and this is where I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna do my best guys. I'm gonna do my best But again, I'm not a scientist. Okay, we know that lane Varta is like I'm the heavens are sort of my deal here. Okay, there's sort of my arena These two things the Sun and the Moon, Vana and Rana they should not be Journey in Ilman um I'm sorry. No, I said that backwards. They're going to journey in Ilman and ever be a lot a lot but not together So they should not be together each should pass from Valinor into the east and return the one issuing from the west as the other Turned from the east Thus the first of the new days were reckoned after the manner of the trees from the mingling of the lights when Aryan and Tillion passed in their courses above the middle of the earth Yeah, just so cool man And it also talks about how like Tillion is kind of Wayward uncertain like his speed is sort of off sometimes and he doesn't always hold to the same path So explaining kind of how the moon operates right? We've got like different phases of the moon and it's sort of all though Sometimes it's in this sky when the sun is sometimes you never see the moon like what dude what well you come on Tillion Sounds like me. He's he's he's yeah, he's out there He's out there um And he's always trying to get closer to Aryan that's what I'm talking about the the Attention man. I think he loves her I think he loves her and Kind of a shame they can't be it together. I don't know. Maybe she was always out of his league too But maybe he just really can't help himself You know what I'm saying? So he does try to get closer to her um And kind of crazy because She scorches him right or the I guess the the the light of of the flame scorches him and the island of the moon is darkened So really cool explanation of of just the nature of the sun of the moon how they interact and why we see certain things that we That we see Yeah, this is wild Uh, because Oh my gosh, this is just so crazy the the waywardness of Tillion um It's like he what is it what what I hold on. I mean this is just blowing my mind Okay, so this next part is kind of explain like the phases of the moon um That and at the evening the time of the descent and resting of the sun was the hour of the greatest light Enjoy in almond. Okay. Yeah, got it. Yeah. Uh, just how like the twilight and the the the the evening is just such such a special time For yeah, the lights the magic hour, right? It's the magic hour which is incredible um You know the sun draws down to the servants of almo and Went then and haste under the earth. This is trippy guys the moon and the sun They go under the earth Okay, um Again, not going to say anything talking said it not me sorry um Yeah, I don't know that's breath breathe that on your own, okay So they they they journey in this manner where they go over the heavens and element and they go through the earth passing Underneath pretty wild um again Tillion is kind of uncertain um and There's this part coming up where melcore morguell rather kind of uses that to try and attack him um, he hates the new lights um he's uh For a while he's confounded um and in this kind of this attack from the volar confuses him. He's like what dude? I do not understand this and that's where he kind of decides to attack Tillion. He's he's weaker. He's not as afraid of him Um, but he sends spirits of shadow against him and there was strife and ill-men Beneath the paths of the stars But Tillion was victorious. I was thinking to myself. I'm like is this almost kind of an explanation You know you look up at the moon and there's tons of craters And you know that there have been like space rocks and asteroids and comet chunks of things that have like just landed an impact The impacted the moon and left these giant craters and I think like you don't see that in the sun obviously it's different What you see in the moon it's all poked like it's been through a battle and I'm like that kind of is a cool way to I'm guessing anyway um Yeah, sort of describe why the the moon looks the way it does um And I skipped a bit above there. It's talking about like the the way that the days are reckoned um Yeah So anyway um, I think a lot of the stuff I can Skip a little bit, but it does it is very interesting. Hold on. This is another good point. I didn't want to forget It talks about melcores power and how He is becoming more and more fearful right this is a good thing and again. This is a um a positive impact If the if the Valar truly at the beginning of this chapter would have just sat there and had no idea what to do If they would have frozen up if they would have given up Even if Yvana would have stopped singing if niana wouldn't have mourned as deeply Wouldn't have shed as many tears would have watered the earth in the way that she did with her sadness and her grief Then this fear Wouldn't have been upon morgoth All those actions made ripples that impact morgoth that wound morgoth that weaken morgoth um Because he now he's afraid again. This was on he didn't see this coming. He thought that like I destroyed life forever now I can play in the dark Oh crap What is this there's a moon? Okay, well that's doable. We can hang out. It's not real bright shoot There's a Sun now. Okay, I'm pissed. This is scary. What do I do? And so he has all this fear and He doesn't even dare go close to the Sun Because he doesn't have the power anymore And Tolkien explains this as he grew in malice and sent forth from himself the evil that he conceived in lies and creatures of wickedness his might past into them and so it was then dispersed right and He himself became ever more bound to the earth unwilling to issue from his dark strongholds So he uses his shadows and his clouds and his fume or plumes of smoke to shield them but like he's an overlord dude He's an overlord like he literally Has to give all of his strength of wickedness and I think it really just speaks to again Look at what came from the power of love and the power of hope against all hope light right Light that gives birth to greater light that gives birth to plants and that gives bravery to You know the noldor and and the avari and and all the first born and gives birth to the the race of men Right, that's what comes from light, but what comes from darkness is a binding right and Ancoring to a specific place and then having to dull out yourself weaken yourself to kind of try and multiply in in in numbers and Yeah, I mean it makes sense it makes sense, but we can see here. It's like okay. There is hope There is hope and so far every time Morgoth Melkor has tried to do something He may have had some roadblocks. He may have been stopped But he always found a way to confound and to bring about evil and here we're seeing that like alright He's maybe not so invincible, right? He might have some weaknesses like there might be hope for the good guys and it's just very encouraging to see Okay, so that's the son of the moon Sorry if I got lost a little bit again. I don't know. It's like the algorithms in my head constantly now we have the hiding We have the hiding of Valinor and you know, this is a couple paragraphs pretty worry But essentially what happens is that They raised the Polori to shear and dreadful height so again that mountain range that had kind of closed in Valinor that were raised originally as a defense as a hedge as a as a wall of sorts Now they're just crazy tall They're crazy tall think about like those mountains in Patagonia or I Don't know like a ton of half domes and and and you know, somebody's everywhere just crazy walls of stone that are so tall that they're crowned with ice and There's actually they so they fence it off all around with the Polori To New Heights dreadful Heights east north and south, but they leave the calicaria sort of open They leave it as a pass They don't want to close that because of the L.D.R. that were faithful and in the city of Tyrion upon the Green Hill Phenarfin yet ruled and the remnant of the Noldor and the deep cleft of the mountains so They keep a watch on it, right? And they make sure that it's it's able to be Traverse but it's guarded And it even talks about here. This is interesting like the Vanyar the ones who sit the feet of Manwe and Varda Ingeway is their Lord and Even they they got to get down every once in a while they got to get down from Telequantil and they got to go out and they got to get some air they got to breathe The outer air and the wind that comes over the sea from the lands of their birth And so it's important that they have access to that kind of is what this is admitting So that's very interesting too, right like even being at the feet of The gods essentially You still got to get down and connect to where you came from got a ground It's important guys that is actually scientific so it's not Woo-woo, and maybe it is I don't know. I believe Yeah, so this is this is the hiding of Valinor right? It says here that Yeah, the Calacuria is guarded At its issue upon the plains of Valmore a host was encamped so that neither bird nor beast nor elf nor man or any creature beside the Dwell beside that Dwell middle earth could pass through that That that access point all right and then we get a little bit about the islands So Valinor is is hidden in the enchanted Isles are all set And it talks here a little bit about Toleracea the lonely island which is reached by one sailing west Hardly might any vessel pass between them the islands for in the dangerous sounds the waves side forever upon the dark rocks Shrouded and missed so you get a little help from from all mo here I think and in the twilight a great wearing this came upon Mariners and a low thing of the sea But all that ever set foot upon the islands were there and trapped and slept until the change of the world Dude so I can then chant it makes me think of of the Odyssey kind of Yeah, the sirens and everything getting trapped or getting Steered into the rocks and scattered So yeah Thus it was that as Mondos foretold to them and Aramon the blessed realm was shut against the Noldor and of the many Messengers that in ever that in after days sailed into the west none came ever to Valinor save one only the mightiest Mariner of song which we'll get to eventually Arendial which is kind of crazy Okay, next chapter is chapter 12 of men. There we go Wow, thanks for going with me on that adventure. I try to be brief and also fight the Exhaustion of feeling you know and just the end of year kind of What's the word? Paul I think that's it. I think that's what I'm feeling, but it's okay. It's okay. You know I'm just glad that Hopefully for one person that was good. Hopefully that even even out of frustration. You're like Dude, I just need to read this myself. Lane's talking about best in show Come back. Come back. Come back. Come back. Okay, when's it? That was you guys calling for as to come back and save me save me. I let go of Jack. That's me probably in this illustration you guys are Rose. I'm Jack and As is young young gruffet Hello, is anybody alive out there? Can anybody have me? Yeah, let's do some let's do some Strawberries with cream real quick No, no before that. Let's do the by-water post. I don't again. I'm gonna apologize. I don't know where the by-water post is I don't know I can't figure out what's old male and what's new male and as I believe it or not Haven't had a chance to down a talk about it. You know When we get together guys It's not as often as it used to be even when we get chance to talk and my ADHD takes over and I think he's entertained right and I think sometimes this spot. It's a little contagious. I think it kind of can have an impact on him He's just like whoa dude like this guy's crazy and sort of embraces it, you know So there's a lot of times we intend on talking about certain things And they just never come up and that's one of them so I apologize for that but I'm gonna give you huge shout to Jimmy Elkana Down in sunshine bay In New Zealand South Island baby South Island Jimmy's amazing you've heard him before on the podcast I don't think we've heard we have never heard you guys have never heard his voice but He was one that bumped into Joseph Maul Peeha way back before season one and was like dude. I met Joseph Maul. He's here filming And you know, we were all filled with excitement at that point and Jimmy loves Joseph Maul one of his favorite actors. I believe Or was it the time, you know, someone he really admired Yeah, a guy who's Joseph Maul is a guy who like, you know, I think he's like has partial deafness. I mean he's overcome a lot of stuff And it's it to become an incredible actor again one of those bright spots from From season one, but anyway Jimmy's an incredible guy. We've got to know each other through messaging, you know and Dude, he just pulled a he pulled a big one for me. I Ordered something that could only be shipped to our Australia or New Zealand and I was like, dang, I could not get a ship to the United States. I was like, what am I gonna do? I was like, yeah, I'm just gonna reach out to Jimmy. I hear the worst you can say is no, and I apologize for even asking. I was like, do you mind if I ship this to you and then like pay you to ship it to me? He's like, yeah, dude, no worries, man. Of course. I was like, wow, okay. Um, and he did. I didn't even think twice about it. And he won't let me compensate him. Oh, dude, let me, can I, I can send you money and all squared. He's like, you know what, dude? U and S have given me hours of entertainment over the years. Don't worry about it. And I was like, Jimmy, I have your address. I'm gonna find a way. I'm gonna find a way to pay you back. But just the kind of guy he is, man. And we've had such lovely conversations. He sent me a picture from his front porch of Sunshine Bay. That's like, geez, dude. You know, the closest you can get to heaven without dying was being in New Zealand. And a huge part of that is the people. As people like Jimmy and, um, yeah, I don't know. So huge shout out to you, Jimmy. Thank you, man. I meant to go grab the hat and wear it during the episode. And I just got so it's in the car. I got so wrong that it throw it on. I'm wearing it in the spirit. Um, I think like even on a bigger point, it's just amazing. We, I don't know. Like the friendships we make from this thing, as I talk about all the time, it's, it's not even close. That's, that's the reward we get. Like that's the, um, that's the benefit that we never could have anticipated or expected. That is, I mean, dude, it's invaluable. Like to call you guys our friends is invaluable. For a kid who like, I didn't have friends growing up. I didn't have friends until probably middle school. And even then I was so nervous they, I, that I was that they weren't going to stay that I don't know if I even really appreciate it, my friends then. Um, but from a kid, take it from me. From a guy who was a kid who had no friends, new kid back to back years, got picked on, made fun of. It was kind of different. I was always different. Um, and, uh, yeah. I think sometimes people were just playing with me. I didn't know I can tell if they're a tease of me or not as a kid, you know, but to go from that to having friends all over the globe and like deep, meaningful, caring relationships, friendships that I can't imagine my life without. It's unreal. It's unreal. And so I guess a little by water post to all of you guys, I know, I know we say it all time, but really thank you. Thank you for going on this adventure with us for being our, being our fellowship, you know, being our friends, um, being able to talk about all kinds of stuff, not just talking stuff. That's just the gateway. I don't have to pay talking gateway for using that. Is that copyrighted? God, I hope I don't get demonetized for us. Anyway. Um, but that is the game. The gateway and then, you know, everything else comes after. It's really, really cool. So Jimmy's actually going to be voicing a character in season two of Constantine Hobb. It's the brother of Bullroar who were calling Rumble Boar, um, but one of the, uh, one of the tooks. Um, and it's going to be an awesome role. I can't wait to write it because I'm going to just be thinking about him, I think, in ways I can work him into the character. So yeah. Thank you, Jimmy. You're the man. I appreciate it. Um, I was going to try and say thank you and Mowdy, but I don't know what she'll say. Kia ora. Um, yeah. Strawberries with cream. That's what's next. I'm going dockless, guys. There's no dock in here. Not even docked brown. And that is kind of like dog brown, too, actually. I just wanted to see. Maybe you guys can answer answering your car right now or on your headphones or wherever you are. What's the coolest thing you've ever hidden? You know, I was thinking about the hiding of Valanaur and how that is something I wanted to say, too. It's kind of weird. Like, why are we hiding it away? And it's like, I mean, I don't know. Like they've done this thing where they keep withdrawing, keep withdrawing. And I think it's an attempt to try and save what they still have to guard it. We want to do that. You want to guard your heart, you know what I'm saying? But it's like, man, you're going to guard it and then cut everything else off and everything else will die. It's like you have to have this balance, this trust and this. Watch as well. You got to watch over your heart, protect it. You got to watch over, you know, Valanaur, but you got to make sure that you don't leave everyone else out to dry. You know, don't leave them hanging. Come on. Don't leave me hanging. What's the coolest thing you've ever hidden or craziest thing you've ever hidden? We play high, I was thinking about this this week because we play hide and seek a ton. The kids love hide and seek. We have this little blue toy that you press a button and hide it and then every so often it says over here. Like it will, you know, blue you will say stuff and it's just a cool way to get you quiet and listen. I think it was over there. Let's go see. Let's go see. So the kids all up and they went in the house. They played outside in the yard and I was just thinking like, what's the coolest thing that you've ever hidden? I can't tell you guys because that would defeat the purpose, but I just wanted to see if you would answer on your own right now. Don't tell anybody because then it's not hidden anymore. But what is the coolest thing you've ever hidden? Wow, that is really cool. Oh my gosh. You did. You hit. Wow. Well, there's no way I's ever going to get found. That's pretty incredible. You're really good at hiding stuff. I never would have thought of that. Honestly, that's amazing. But yeah. So anyway, that's your strawberries with cream. How can you share the load? Well, there's lots of ways to share the load. Hang out with your friends. Talk about Tolkien. Watch the movies. You know, we've got a Patreon. You could support. Don't have to. It's going to be going away. I think who knows. We don't really know. Guys, nobody knows. Nothing is certain. There is no tomorrow. I will put a little plug in here. Hopefully this isn't tacky. But concerning Hobbits, we have a spot fund. I know I alluded to it last time I recorded. It's up and running right now. There is no kind of like end date. I don't think I think it's pretty much open ended until you close the campaign or you reach your goal. Our goal is $7,000. A lot of money. But it's all going towards equipment for concerning Hobbits. We just had Jordan. I'm going to put a huge shout out to everyone who has become a producer and supported through the spot fund on our Instagram. They're going to be credited every episode as producers of the radio drama. They are in truth producers. It's all going. It's all going. It sounds like Al Gore. It's all going towards recording packages and then if there's some leftover or if the need is more pressing some editing stuff. We had a great meeting with Arthur who is now on board the pointed ears sound design team. It's what's made Jake and Arthur. It's mostly Jake and Arthur. I am but a simpleton. There might be some editing stuff that we need to use some of those funds for but every penny will be used towards the production and equipment to help facilitate it and hopefully get episodes out to you guys faster without it being hasty. I'm saying I don't want it to be something like we've got to get out this time. That's one of the joys of the project is there is no I don't know. There's no like demand or timetable we have to keep that then ruins the joy of creation. That would defeat the whole purpose. That's something you could do that I would appreciate all the cast and crew would appreciate as well because it's going to just help us get packages out to people more at the same time and then faster and then hopefully Aida's in post production as well. I'll leave the link in the description. You know how it goes and yeah, we really appreciate you guys big time. Okay, well that wraps it up for this week. I hope that the front end of this episode was incredibly entertaining for you. I hope that you know my defense of myself, myself defense of not being a flat earth or I know what David Downing's thinking. I know he hated this episode. I know he literally we have a private DM on Instagram where we just per as an I will just every once in a while drop mysteries. Things that are unexplained and David's quick to say you morons. This is the truth. You're stupid and he doesn't lovingly he doesn't do it like that. That's just how I analyze it. It's fine. It's fine. It's my it's my burden. Not your guy. I shouldn't put it on. I should have put that on you guys. I'm sorry. Yeah, so anyway, I know that he was shaking his head and that's okay. That's okay. You know what? I think what of David Downing's favorite things about me is I kind of confound him a little bit. Sort of frustrate him. He can't quite get a grip on me. Okay, well, yeah, we're gonna wrap it up. Thank you. Thank you for going to Celestial with us this week. Man, gosh, the heavenly bodies, the girdle of the earth. We can't get away from these girdles. They are literally everywhere, dude. They're literally all over the place. Gertle, girdle, girdle. I'm gonna go to McDonald's and eat them, McGurdle tomorrow, biking and, I can treat brother. So thank you for, for getting heavenly with us. And, and keeping hope alive too. And so we're just terrifying the darkness in chapter of 11, in chapter of 11, in chapter 11 of the sun, gosh, it's too late of the sun and the moon and the hiding of Valinor next time, we're gonna witness the birth of the, what's the, what are they called? The hill door? Yeah, boy, the door in the hills, the men, they're coming next. We've waited a long time and here they are, chapter 12 of men. And remember to a rue sings. Thank you guys. I'm so glad I got that done. I'm sweating like a pig. I'm tired. I miss as I can't believe you didn't come back with a junior bacon cheese burger. Wendy's is having hard times. They're, they're bleeding money in the US. It's no high-oh company, man. Wendy's, if you don't know this, started in Columbus, Ohio. The very first one was downtown for a long time. Then they ripped it down and they built a Costco, you know, and like why they did that. I don't know. Corporate greed. Lack of. [BLANK_AUDIO]

Summary:

He muistelevat LAP-tapahtumia, joissa on kohdattu kuuntelijoita perheineen, ja korostavat yhteisöllisyyden merkitystä.
