The speaker reflects on attending a rare Tesla Roadster event, where he felt deeply validated as one of the first founder owners of the vehicle. Despite skepticism about flying cars, the live demo of the autonomous flip was both thrilling and symbolic, showcasing Tesla’s bold vision. The event, held at SpaceX in Japan and Texas, featured intense rocket testing and a vibrant community of enthusiasts who shared passionate, repetitive reactions—like fans rehashing high school concept car dreams. The speaker acknowledges the car’s technical ambition but questions its practicality in daily life, especially given the delay in full release until 2030. He ultimately chooses a standard Roadster over the flying model to prioritize shared experiences with friends, emphasizing human connection over spectacle. The trip also highlights cultural contrasts, with the speaker praising Hong Kong’s efficiency, luxury, and unique skyline, while criticizing U.S. travel standards. Amid the excitement, he expresses frustration at public resistance to innovation and the idea that flying cars are unfeasible, arguing instead that such breakthroughs inspire future progress. The experience blends personal emotion, technological wonder, and cultural observation, reinforcing his belief that innovation—like the Roadster—must be embraced even if it seems far-fetched.
what's up guys welcome back to views we are back with another episode straight from the dome guys
if you didn't know we freestyle all these episodes none of this is scripted yep that's true yeah oh
you missed a line oh it says it says me and natalie and jason freestyle let's try it again
okay me natalie and jason all freestyle this is not scripted nailed it uh thank you um guys we're
back burning question everybody's mind i already know it is the tesla roadster how lit was it
don't worry i'll tell you all about it well you had so many places you could go and you went there
yeah because i think i think this is i think because i got so many dms about the tesla
roadster i'm pretty excited about it you told me shit yeah i didn't tell you more because i wanted
to save for the pod okay um but yeah okay so the tesla roadster that we've been talking about
for a long time yeah that i bought eight years ago two hundred fifty thousand dollars you've all
heard the you've all heard the story many times first of all it's become this huge hit on the
internet and it's really cool because it feels like it's been this niche thing that i've been
just like talking about for a really long time and really like i know people did not care about
it but like i cared about it and like for one day i finally felt um what's the word not reciprocated
but not it's like a word like acknowledged but it starts with an r
whatever i felt an r word uh i felt honored and appreciated it's a word of combined you combine
those well you were on the you were on the cusp you're on the cutting edge i thought that was so
cool that you were there for the thing that everyone on in the world was talking about
yeah so we were that's cool so i was talking about how i'd have to make it was the worst
travel day ever i had to fly so first we flew from la to japan and
i had to be on that flight because we were recording on the flight and then the second
we touched down in japan everyone went to their connection to the next country in asia
and i had to fly back to texas so i got on a flight right away so i flew to texas for the
event and then i got to be at the tesla event for about five hours and then i had to fly back and
meet you guys in asia right so i touched down back in the u.s for a couple hours just for this event
and ilia met you there right so ilia was going to the tesla event and i was like oh my god i'm
i was supposed to make a whole vlog around this tesla roadster and i was so excited
um but ilia missed his flight okay so came in a little too late because when once i landed i had
to drive two hours and he wasn't going to make it and since uh the roadster event was held on
like a government site it was held at spacex um he you had to get approved like two weeks before
and i just switched his name out for natalie and they couldn't get him improved approved in time
so ilia flew in to dallas was he actually there yeah oh he was in
dallas i thought he just missed the flight and didn't come no no no he was there and he was
like dude this fucking i felt really bad did you even see him no oh he didn't even see him what
did he do he just got back on the next flight oh my god so he just like wasted a day i feel
really bad about that um yeah but okay so i got there like i was the last person to check in at
the tesla event because i i got there i showered and then straight i i got a room just for first
of all i got a room and i did the hilton key thing have you ever done that no it's a
for like a hilton rewards member yeah you can get a key on your phone so i didn't i didn't even stop
at the front desk like hallie who works with us sent it to my phone and and it says where your
room is it's like it's on the third floor and you're 307 so you just go to the room and you
open it with your phone like apple pay wow it's fucking crazy don't have to stop at the front desk
anything wow save me so much time and then i went to shower and then immediately with wet hair went
down in the lounge was where all the tesla people were meeting up everyone had roadster shirts on it
was really cool that's cool i was like oh my god i'm gonna go to the front desk and i'm gonna go to
i went to check in i was the last person in line they were like closing it off um it was like so
clutch like the timing i had was incredible because their food from japan like yeah very
limited time and then the lady that was there i love these moments and i don't get to have a lot
of these anymore i used to have these a lot as a kid um um but like the lady was like what are you
what are you doing here are you media or like she didn't know why i was in line yeah and then
you know i was kind of i guess you are media i guess so i didn't really
not answer it you kind of and i also kind of wanted to like feel good about it so i was like
uh so i kind of like played dumb yeah and uh and then she's and then she like listed all the things
but she didn't list roadster owner so i was like oh i actually bought the car like eight years ago
and she goes oh like actually like that you're a founder and yes yeah that's what she said she's
like oh you're part of the founders uh the founders edition yeah i'm like yes i am and i
felt really proud and i don't get those a lot anymore i used to get them a lot when i was like
22 because you look homeless right now with your wet head yeah yeah and and i look extremely young
yes for the clientele that was there yeah for sure everyone there's like 60 70 there was one
guy that was my age probably about 37 um but everyone there is like 60 70 years old yeah
that's crazy you bought the car when you were 22 yeah so what thousand percent was the i think i'm
the youngest the youngest founder roadster owner at least there so then they uh she let
me through and they gave all the roadster people so there's two ways to get this car right you could
have paid fifty thousand dollars just to reserve like a basic one or you could pay the full price
two hundred fifty thousand dollars um and then you get the founders edition and that's what i have
so everyone that paid for that got a uh got a gold wristband and then we like kind of sat in
the hotel lobby it's kind of funny because it was like such an extravagant event and it just
felt like we were like the like the like lamest conference ever like there was just like random
chairs it looked like it looked worse than like a bingo hall yeah but everyone was just like sitting
around um waiting to go to the event was there like a separation of like vip founders yeah so
the founders edition people were the last to board and they were on their own like shuttle
so they put all the founders people so everyone that was on our greyhound
onto the base were people that bought the car full price eight years ago how many people was
that like roughly like 40 wow yeah maybe even a little less because everyone had the plus
one anybody uh like interesting or like notable that you recognize it was i didn't recognize
anybody but like everybody was from all over the world like the guy the guy next to me or behind me
was uh fluent from germany yeah so we were all on the greyhound and it was really funny being with
all these people because it was it was like everything i say about the car we were all just
like regurgitating to ourselves like we were all saying the same like lines like you know if we put
this money into the tesla stock and then we finish each other sentences and i'm like it'd be 4.8
it was like really funny because it was like it was like imagine it was it felt like i was sitting
with like one-tenth of me yeah and a bunch of duplicates of one-tenth of me like it was like
it was like if i got on a bus with a bunch of people that loved high school and went to my
high school like it's like oh the things i won't shut up about we're all talking about and that's
we all have this in common and it was just funny that we all put money in eight years ago we were
all guessing what it is and like the guy behind me is like i heard it can only fly for 20 seconds
so disappointing and then
the guy next to me was like uh he uh he was like there's a lot of back to the future references
about this car like do you think elon invented time travel which is really funny and i was like
i mean honestly like that would be pretty fucking cool if like this car can like time travel you
somewhere and then we were like talking about like this is elon's farewell and he's going into
the past or the future or whatever um wow yeah but that yeah so there's a lot of it was very it's a
it was a very hopeful car ride which is which is crazy because it's like it's like it's like it's
because every time i talk to somebody about the roadster like you i talked to zane i talked to
everyone would be like there's no way it could fly everyone would always say that and i just
could not wrap my head around how you could possibly assume it wouldn't fly like that was
like the least and granted does it hover like forever no it still only flies for like 20 30
seconds yeah like this is still the beginning of flying cars right like you're not like you're not
going from a to b flying yeah
that you're not there yet well there's flying and then there's functional flying
yeah yeah yeah we're not i think to actually functionally fly you have to like invent some
sort of new like magnetic anti-gravity device or whatever it's going to be yeah um but i think
this is 100 in my opinion considered flying like if you can jump over nine cars yeah and i know
i'm using the word jump but i think it's flying anyway um so yeah i that was like the least of
my things i was like it's gonna hover like i know it's going to get off the ground i
had no doubts about it yeah and everyone else did i thought that was really fucking strange
i thought that it i didn't even invent the fucking thing but like it just felt like i was like am i
just around like are people like so close-minded about the future like do they not understand where
we are i feel like i'm really good at like like there's full self-driving cars and i don't know i
think like zane doesn't understand how crazy that is and i'm like every day i'm like these cars are
driving on their fucking own
yeah we're here like we're at the future so a car flying on its own that's fucking peanuts
like it's like that's like airplanes are basically landing on their own i mean yeah i don't understand
like we have airplanes we have helicopters and things like that i mean i guess to be able and
everyone's like do you need a okay i'm jumping ahead now myself but like do you need a pilot's
license sorry to cut you off i mean whatever no no go go no it's totally fine i just i just
we've been listening to you for the past fucking 20 minutes i was just upset about about he's
I was upset about people doubting it.
I don't know.
I just didn't really get it.
It was pissing me off.
No, for sure.
What were you going to say?
I don't know.
I mean, now it just feels really minuscule.
No, just do it because my mom's going to fucking kill me if I don't let you talk.
I was going to say.
You did it again, David.
The part that's crazy.
Yes, we have planes.
Yes, we have helicopters.
Okay, okay.
That's good.
But to have a car that is just the shell of a car and flies without wings or propellers
or anything like that, that is pretty fucking crazy.
It has wheels and it's all of a sudden just flying.
Oh, you're saying it is crazy.
Yeah.
No, it's definitely crazy.
Yeah, it's inevitable, obviously.
We have things that already fly, but just to make it come back.
So we pulled up to the place.
It was SpaceX.
We saw the giant rocket.
SpaceX, cool.
Yeah, so while the event was loading up, there would be announcements that would sound,
almost like end-of-the-world announcements that would play through all the speakers.
And they were like, please put in your earplugs for the remaining 10 minutes because SpaceX
was testing.
They were testing their rockets literally 200 feet away.
So we would turn and this whole, it looked like a rocket was about to take off.
We all thought it was going to take off.
Was that part of your deal or did they just happen to be testing rockets?
No, they were just working.
You would think they would stop testing rockets.
Yeah, for like the two hours.
When you bring people in, but they're working.
No, they do that nonstop.
Oh, wow.
I mean, did you see what Elon's doing?
Did you see he, for SpaceX, they deployed like 20 satellites.
In like one go, like up into space.
And they're going to deploy, they're going to deploy like a new satellite every, every day.
For like, because Elon's building his own cell phone and his own cellular network.
It's going to destroy every fucking.
Starlink?
Yeah, but it's going to be, it's going to be its own, it's going to destroy everything.
ATT, T-Mobile, everyone can kick rocks.
I've heard that, but why is it again going to destroy everybody?
Because he has his own satellite in space.
So it's just like he can charge so little?
And it works the same?
I don't think it works the same.
I think it works way, way better.
Way better, yeah.
Yeah, I don't think it's going to be like.
Oh, I know what it is.
It's like, it's like you can get, you can get like internet anywhere.
Yeah, you're in the plane anywhere.
You could be in the Congo and you're like.
Anywhere.
Amazing internet, yeah.
Yeah.
So that was really sick.
And then obviously when we got there, we saw the ramp that was kind of inverted.
Yeah.
And, and I was like, okay, so obviously the car is going to hang upside down.
Yeah.
Because I've seen, I've seen like other Chinese cars do that before where they've just gone like fan suction.
So like the suction of the car is so good, which is really important when you're like going on turns that the car stays close to the ground.
And then the guy I was with was like, I feel like it's going to fly off the edge of it and then land.
And I thought that was, as bold as I've been about Tesla, I was like, that's the dumbest idea ever.
There's no way it's going to jump off the edge and then flip itself.
And then it did that.
It did that.
It went up and it.
It did a little full circle.
And the second it happened was a really cool feeling.
It was like, it was five seconds of just like the craziest sensation because seeing it with your eyes was like, whoa, like that was like, that was not real.
It was literally like seeing AI with your eyes.
But in reality, it was really hard to explain.
Was there a driver in there?
No.
No.
It's fully autonomous.
They did it for safety.
So, yeah.
Everything that the Tesla was doing was it was doing by its by itself.
Wow.
And Elon said that later, too.
He's like, once the cars are available to people.
This is also why I was like, everyone's like, is that people going to be a pilot's license?
It's like, no, your car is obviously going to do it on its own.
It'll be 3000 times safe.
Like SpaceX is landing rockets right on its own.
So if you've seen videos, SpaceX will send a rocket up into space.
And then when it comes back down, it lands itself.
From space.
So they use those same thrusters and they put in the car.
But yeah, I think it was the best product demo of all time.
And also the worst.
Because Elon didn't talk about anything other than the flip.
It started with the flips.
Yeah.
Ended with the flips.
And it was 20 minutes long.
What did he say?
Not much.
Yeah.
Just, yeah.
He just, he, it was the coolest thing in the world.
But selfishly, as a guy who's been waiting for this for eight years.
Yeah.
I was like, so.
What else?
Yeah.
No, not only that.
I was, I saw the product demo and I remember leaving really sad.
Yeah.
Because I was like, fuck.
No, I was like, this, this, I was like, there's no way I'm getting this in two years.
Yeah.
Like, I was like that.
I was like, I really hoped it was just going to hover off the ground.
Right.
Like a foot.
Then I'd be like, yep, it's coming.
Whatever just fucking happened.
I think that that was, he was just showing off like.
The craziest circumstance of it.
Well, that's what I said to Nat.
I was like, did you ever go to like the auto show when you were a kid and you'd see concept
cars?
Mercedes would make like a really cool car.
That car never gets made.
No, those are concept cars.
I agree.
So that's what I'm asking.
Is this like a concept, like just a way to like make a lot of noise?
No.
Like the car that you're going to get in two years, three years, one year, whatever.
It's that car that we saw?
Well, okay.
So this was, this was another thing he didn't mention next day on the web, on the website.
Yeah.
You can order.
You can order the cars again.
Oh.
And there's three different ways to order them.
You can get like the regular version.
That's just like the sporty version.
And then you can get the performance version that has the thrusters that only send you
forward.
So you can go zero to 16.8 seconds.
And then there's a third option that's invite only that has, that's called the rocket option.
And that's the collab with SpaceX where you can take flight.
And you can't actually click that option.
So that says invite only.
And I assume when I, when I bought the Roadster.
It said I was going to, I think I was going to get the SpaceX package with it.
So I assume that's the part I'm in.
But that's what worries me is like, will the regular car come out when he promised in 2028?
And then will my SpaceX car not come till 2030 fucking three?
That's what I'm like.
I'm worried that I'm going to have to wait another.
Right.
Another five to 10 years.
No, I don't think so.
Or I'm going to have to make a decision and it's going to be like, do you want the regular car now?
Or do you want.
Do you want the flying one?
What will you do?
And the flying one, Jay?
This is my least favorite part of all cars.
Only has one seat.
Oh, well, that's not good for Dave.
It's not good for Dave.
That's anti-Dave right there.
Very anti-Dave.
Oh, Dave likes to show off.
Very anti-Dave.
Dave likes to take his friends and have fun.
Yeah.
That's going to be really tough.
You can't, you can't.
That's why it's a tough decision.
It's like, oh, what's, what's cooler?
Going zero 16.8 seconds with two people or flying with one.
I still think it's flying.
I still think like just having it at the house and showing people that are on the outside is cool.
Yeah, I don't know.
That's tough.
But that is kind of sad, huh?
That sucks.
Yeah.
Is that like a safety thing in case it.
No, because it needs so much of the, it needs an extra like air thing.
Oh, maybe for the weight too.
Yeah, which is really cool.
They said that, and this is another thing I was worried about was I thought that the, the, the thing that makes it fly.
You're going to have to like go to Tesla and you're going to have to like refill it like every time you want to fly.
But no, it's just, it's, it's just air.
The car literally pumps it like it puffs itself up and it's ready to go again in three hours or sorry, 30 minutes.
Wow.
It's pretty cool.
So it's not.
So you do a flip every 30 minutes.
Yeah.
Or like, yeah.
Or like use the thrusters to like go fast every 30 minutes.
Pretty fucking cool.
Pretty cool.
I thought it was going to be like the specific.
The specific gas that you need to go get somewhere.
Yeah.
And then he also said that there's going to be specific places like Tesla's going to, this is kind of what I said is Tesla will have specific places you can go to like fully fly and test your car out.
But I think in general, like let's say you want to do a flip or you want to fly like this is what other people are like.
Other people are like, there's no way you're going to be able to do this in traffic.
It's like, yeah, fuck no.
You're not going to be able to do this.
You can't just jump over like five cars in traffic.
Like that's not what it's going to be like.
But.
I'm sure if you're in an open parking lot, your car will give you permission just the same way it uses full self-driving now.
It'll be like, okay, no power lines, no trees, no things above you, no things, no things 50 feet around you.
You're good to do a flip or whatever.
And then you'll hit a button and it'll automate the flip for you.
So I don't think it's like that crazy to think of like what this car is going to be able to do.
But yeah.
What did you think when you saw it?
I thought, oh, that's really cool.
Way to make a lot of money.
Way to make a lot of noise.
Way to get people excited.
I thought it's cool to like, you know, ever since I was a kid, when you watch that show, The Jetsons, you would think like, oh, one day we'll have flying cars.
And it's like, I think it's a cool move by Elon to just, he did it, you know, like that's cool.
I think it's really cool.
You know, and he, I love everything he's done.
I mean, I love my car so much.
Somebody said, not somebody, a lot of people would be like, well, why don't we need flying cars?
Right.
You know what I mean?
I fucking hate that attitude so much.
I hate it.
I hate it.
I hate it.
Because like, we don't need flying cars, but we need innovation.
Like, this is what drives people.
Yeah.
It's like so fucking cool.
Uh-huh.
Like, why shit on something like this?
I just think people are so miserable.
It pisses me off so much.
We need it because there's a kid out there that saw that.
And now he's going in and fucking save your life from fucking cancer in fucking 15 years.
Wait, what?
What did you say?
Well, I'm just saying it's going to inspire that kid to become his own, like, innovator.
Yes, yes.
And he's going to create things.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And now there's going to be other things.
that are going to come out of this.
I just, I don't know.
Um. so yeah no i'm very impressed i thought it was really really sick well congrats that was a long
road for you i was really stoked to be there i feel like i was at like the apple iphone release
because i even saw a lot of people like online like there's one account it had like 300 000
likes and it was like i want to hear from the people that were there were they just looking
at screens or did they see it with their own eyes and like all the comments were like i think they
were just looking at screens and everyone's in on it and they had this and i was like wow this is so
cool i feel like i'm like part of like a pentagon conspiracy theory here i've never been on the
inside um no fully fully got to see with my own eyes i wish i was closer could it have been all
smokes and mirrors from far away i don't know i wasn't i think i think i think you're gonna
end up taking the car without the flight yeah i wouldn't because i'm gonna be so impatient or
because i want two seats couple of reasons yeah those two reasons you're gonna be like i i just
want i just want a functional car yeah because everybody else is like everybody else is going
to receive it
and then you're still not gonna have it and like everyone's gonna be because really all you can do
is flip in the parking lot i don't dude right and it's like not even a no no no that's a big deal
can you take the car down the street and fly over the houses right now if you had it no no you can't
so you can just flip yeah that's all you can do right uh no i think what he showed you is like
what the car could do but i think you're going to be able to do like really basic things that'll be
even cooler like i think you'll be able to like hover maybe 10 feet across you know i mean uh-huh
like i think it'll look cooler when you're just i think he shows you the cool things from far away
like really like but i think like it's just hovering for 10 seconds a foot off the ground
and maybe going to 30 feet forward will be like that'll be fucking cool and then of course i guess
what would that car be worth i don't want that car well that's that's gonna be exciting i think
i think that car when it comes out with the rockets yeah like let's say i get it for 250
right because that's how much i bought it for i see i i easily easily it'll go for at least a
million easily probably two right away but i don't know some collector would want to sell it
anybody anybody would want it and right away and out of all the people that were there
um everyone like reserve theirs not out of everyone sorry i only talked to like four people
but like out of those four people they all reserved it like a couple months after me
so i was still very very i was like one of the first to reserve it so i am excited about getting
it but no i don't want to be in that car and someone pulls up to me and goes make it fly and
then i have to explain to them that i don't have that package so i think i'm gonna wait i'm gonna
wait for the full it was it was more important that i could have a friend with me i chose that
over flying yeah this is mike lindsey he's in town
from chicago he just lost his job we're gonna find him something else
why fly you have friendship
um no but really cool yeah
and then i flew back it was really funny i i i was the first to leave the event everyone got to go
play with the car yeah um but i had to you didn't get to see the inside of the car because that's
what i'd be interested in no i like to see the inside of the car i like to see the inside of the car
i saw videos of it looks really nice really yeah it looks incredible does it have a steering wheel
oh yeah it's a yoke steering wheel yoke yeah it's really nice though that's nice it's brake by wire
um laptop steer by wire uh you mean the screen screen yeah yeah yeah the screen's nice ipad
screen yeah it's it looks kick-ass um heated seats which is nice um okay we assume that the uh
the seat no four wheels it doesn't even have like it doesn't have um it doesn't have like
electronic you can't move your seats electronically what the seats move in a way where like you're on
an airplane you hit a button and you know you like lean back to push it back and then it'll
pass back because they're just trying to save weight oh kind of analog huh the whole car weighs
less than like a two-seater porsche oh which is insanity because the car is electric so batteries
are really fucking heavy it's a really really light car no backseat i think the whole body's
made out of carbon fiber and then no backseat no backseat no backseat no backseat no backseat no
backseat which is sad because this car is no longer a roadster even roadster means it's a
convertible this car is no longer convertible oh yeah um but the door is open in a cool way
it doesn't look anything like what what the pictures i saw no but i kind of like this seven
years ago yeah this has like a look more like a ferrari before i'm like a really proud roadster
owner now like now i'm like so excited to have it because it's going to be unlike anything on the
road um and i think that's what it's that's what it should be um you could be
squished in there what you could be squished in there is it small small uh no no elon's six foot
three and so is their designer so they're big boys yeah yeah so they're like they designed it
with that in mind which is sick um that's my one gripe about sports cars sports cars yeah
um but the outside to like get in and out of the outside glass like the black part
laying down when you drive um the outside glass part
the outside stop speaking the outside
the outside glass part charlie called me is uh is is black and uh like with a tint of gold
to like to like match the helmets of like um space cadets it's pretty sick yeah what's
which space cadets like an astronaut you're a space cadet yeah that's what my dad used to call
i don't know i would be uh i meant astronauts i don't know why i said cadet i don't know if if i
would like screw something up as a child he'd go oh my god i don't know why i said cadet i don't know
hey space cadet what are you doing space cadet um but yeah so i didn't get to see it and then i
was driving in they like luckily they got me a car back to the airport because i told them i had
to go yeah um so i didn't have to wait for the shuttle and i was in this car and the woman that
was driving me was like a tesla salesperson yeah um and she's talking to me about tesla and she's
like why did you get rid of your model x i'm like i gave it to a friend um and then
she was like would you ever get this car i'm like no it's too small and like as i'm saying it's too
small like i look back and i'm like what the fuck and i see seats behind me and i'm like what car am
i in what is this i've never had that experience i thought that was really funny oh that's sick
what was what were you in there's a model y long oh yeah i've never i've never seen it in real life
and i've i had no idea it's like at the model x but no weird doors and but it's got the full six
seats oh yeah yeah yeah yeah it's like they're new but they're coming out but it was really
because i felt like i was like on a tv show where i was like what what the fuck i was like saying
like it felt like i was acting because i was like actually shocked that i was in this car
and then how was your trip back to to asia after that i was really concerned for you
i flew ava air yeah and let me tell you something america has done such an incredible job
of making china and every other country feel like so not cool you know what i mean
to the point where like when i was flying back i know china's cool because i've been there now
two or three times to different cities and every city is cleaner more efficient and
just more kick-ass in general than i guess any u.s city right yeah they're just it's a
completely different level but i think the way we were raised you just think china's cheap
right yeah yeah that's the whole thing the whole thing is like china's cheap
don't build your products there because they'll come out cheap yeah and like poor quality like
it's not as quality as america american made is like strong and you know whatever they're so crazy
it's like it's serious serious propaganda that like we've like all fallen for and that's also
probably our fault because i feel like america is only buying the chief the chinese people are
probably like they only want the cheap stuff chinese people are probably like americans are
cheap why do they keep buying the fucking shittiest we have so much cooler stuff and they want the
shittiest cotton t-shirts
um so it's definitely our fault um but anyway i'm saying i'm saying this because i was flying
ava air back and my fucking propaganda to american brain was like this sucks i want like i know this
flight this i know this fight's gonna suck it was what was wrong with it i think it was incredible
oh it was the best fucking flight i've ever been on my entire life oh it was incredible tell me
no it was just like brand new the seats were incredible and then it just the worst flights
i've ever been on are american and united
all the american stuff compared to the chinese stuff yeah or like starlocks or like the fucking
ones that you don't see are horrible compared to the everything that's out in the other out in the
real world it's really america has done one thing well and it's like fucking screw our brains into
thinking that we are we are great for so many things but like what well like basketball basketball
no no no no really good at basketball don't get me don't get me wrong i don't want to sound like an
american hater at all because i fucking love it here and every time i come back i'm like there's
no place like this place yeah but i'm just saying like we have to give credit to other people
because please like come on that's nice if you do yeah yeah i was i was back in premium economy
today yeah we were flying back 13 hour flight and i was like okay first i checked i was like
she's gonna be economy that'll be that'll be rough then i checked with hallie she's like you're in
premium economy i'm like oh fucking great which you should have been business by the way i know
so i go i go to the fucking i'm on the plane and i'm like i get to premium economy i'm stoked
i'm like this is fucking great i'm like i can stretch my legs i'm like i got a
big tv screen i'm like oh this is awesome then i see dave he wanders back to premium economy
what the fuck's he doing back here he's like yo you okay you okay back here and i go yeah i'm
great i'm like this is fucking great i'm like i'm so happy and he goes oh man you were supposed to
be in business i told natalie and then so then i was like i was like and then he walked away and
i was like oh then it suddenly wasn't so great then i was like fuck i i i told him i was like
there's nothing you can do to change it right like no i asked him out yeah i asked well first
i thought you were already you were business but then on the flight i was like can i upgrade my
friend he's sitting over there and they're like we no longer do in-flight upgrades yeah
which is bullshit it's so funny how your brain changes so quickly oh yeah you know what i mean
like the the nature of like human beings
yeah yeah because you're like this is amazing for sure yeah i mean there's like
it's and it was fine i slept the whole time i mean that's like the way you just thought that
is like how like i like even when i'm pitching things to like zane yeah like if we're going on
a trip yeah and like sometimes there's a brand will have a budget for him uh-huh like you have
to go about it the right way you can't be like brand wants to send you they have twenty thousand
for you because zane will be like why the fuck don't they have sixty yeah yeah yeah yeah you gotta
that's why you gotta go i mean this works on me too it's where you gotta be like hey you want to
come on the trip with us we're going to a fun place yeah and then he'll say yes yeah and then
be like you want to post this brand i can throw you some money on the sign he'll he'll fucking
die for it you know what i mean like it's just like psychology of like how to like present things
so yeah that really fucked you up that i came over i should have i should have done that no no it was
it was great i thought i could upgrade you then there i felt really bad i was fine i sat next to
a little japanese man and we were vibing really yeah and i was just looking at him and i was like
i asked natalie if she'd give up her seat for you and what'd she say she just ignored me
did you really ask i did that's a wild ask she's already in the seat no no no it's not
i was like i was i was just like to natalie it was natalie zane and adam w was like it looks like one of
us is gonna have to give up our seat and everyone kind of went silent
i wouldn't give up my seat someone asked me to move on the way out i said no
oh yeah i heard that yeah i stood up for myself fuck that wait well that's why you fucking that's
why i didn't get the upgrade on the way back i guess karma got me that's bullshit wait what where
was well i was i was in uh i was going out and and naveen naveen made sure that i she like moved my
seat around so i was like oh my god i'm gonna have to give up my seat i'm gonna have to give up my
seat so the big thing is this leg room if i can stretch my legs i'm good so she got me the first
seat in economy so my i've got this crazy leg room and a wall in front of me that's that's key
that's so fucking key so i got my seat i'm so excited and i got this guy next to me and he's
like hey he's like can i uh move my daughter up here and he's like will you switch and go to the
back so my daughter can sit with me and i just said no i can't i go i got leg problems and he
sees the daughter and i go well why don't you just switch with your daughter you take bring this guy
next to your daughter next to me and he goes oh no i don't want to do that i go the fuck don't
fucking ask me if you're if you're not willing to sacrifice to go sit with your daughter then
don't be asking me to move i think that's weird yeah that's fucked up that's really funny so so
fuck you then it's also funny how people have different preferences on flights like i hate
sitting first really first
oh being in the first seat yeah because you're the first asshole everyone looks at no no i hate
the wall oh yeah i hate the wall i love i love when there's a seat in front of me because i like
the tray i like putting like my foot up on the back of the other person's armrest i know that
sounds like invasive but i'm saying like on the backpack like all the way back back where they
can't see it yeah i hate the wall the wall is like yeah i love being the last seat i think it's i
do you tell hallie that do you does she know that about the last seat doesn't recline as far
um no no not the last seat against the wall yeah yeah um yeah hallie's got like really specific
oh yo and then i went and then i went from private jet to economy that was fucking that
was a whirlwind yeah oh my god private jet fucking karaoke machine we had a blast i mean
it was insane yeah then we get to where we're going and then i'm in economy in a row and i'm
with scan and mitch and isabel and my sister i thought i was gonna die yeah yeah that makes
sense i thought i was gonna fucking die five hours after a four-hour layover you guys had
the worst and then a 13-hour private jet ride yeah so they so they all got on a five-hour flight to
get to this next asian country yeah and i got on a what 15-hour flight to texas yeah and i was so
happy i was getting on the 15-hour flight
because 15 hours was like a good time to rest i couldn't have done a five-hour flight
yeah it was pretty that would have killed me i was like groggy out of sleep and i just heard
scan next to me and what is he like 22 and he's just going fucking kill me he's like fucking kill
me right now and i'm like scan you can't talk like that that's really he's like i want to die
um was that flight miserable yeah it's pretty they were in first at least yeah it was kind of
business yeah it was i looked at it it was just like a regular reclining seat but um but but we
landed in the evening so it wasn't like so bad we all just went back to our hotels and knocked out
you know no no you you were in economy you were back there with me then the guy then the guy puts
the seat down so once they once the guy reclines on you right yeah now he's like in your space how
do you feel about that it's fine i mean everybody can recline it's your it's your right to recline
but then okay
why do people think the opposite because i think that's a hundred percent it i agree if you're
gonna you the chair reclines you have the right to recline and the other person has to do how often
do you think people recline and knock over because i think about this all the time but it's never
happened like knock over the food that's on somebody's i've had that happen to me really
yeah well they make you not recline on these asian flights when the food comes out yeah they'll put
your they make you go oh put your seat up because it's it's
meal service even if you're not eating so you have to like go back up because the person behind you is
eating and then scan got yelled at wow this guy was like move your seat he's like stop reclining
and scan was like like it's my right to recline that's it he said that he says yeah he did what
did you think of um the country we went to is it a surprise i don't know you're being so cryptic
you're not mentioning you're like and then we went to the asian we all posted that we were in
this country i don't know why you're being i don't even know i'm being cryptic about it like who cares
yeah
are you glad you just learned the word cryptic yeah oh you know i'm going to start learning new
words no kidding no keating um yeah because i think like a big part of like measuring is being
funny establishing a vocabulary there's no bigger words oh yeah i agree like i was watching harry met
sally on the flight oh so cool and i was trying to catch words that are like words that i didn't know
yeah like how words are strung together that i didn't i've never used before i only caught a
hmm no nothing that i like remember but like i remember only a couple be like okay yeah because
i was trying to see i was like could i possibly write this movie yeah and i was like oh it's okay
for like a good 40 seconds i'm like yes yes yes and then i and then i got some weird phrase
happened i was like no when i thought of that yes yes no yes so like i i think i want to start
not like crazy stupid words where it's like why is he saying that but just like what's like a good
word that i'm going to say i'm going to say it's like a good word that i'm going to say it's like
a good word that i should be that i should know
what should be part of my vernacular i think cryptic is good that's a good word
cryptic yeah that's not that big no okay a little bit bigger a little bit bigger um synonymous
that's some that's that's the right ballpark i think everyone knows synonymous okay okay okay
but like in that ballpark of words um yeah something that i don't know you got any i don't
want people to ask me what i mean by that word okay okay you don't want to go too big no no no
to sound like i've been on the planet 30 years right now i feel like i'm at i feel like my real
age 23 purgatory is exactly the category i would be looking for rancid rancid i mean i don't like
that word but yeah um yeah anyway we went to hong kong i love that place i love hong kong i was kind
of baffled by it like you hated it i didn't hate it but i was just kind of like hmm interesting i
don't get how hong kong is a place where people are like oh my god i don't like it i don't like
hong kong is not a bigger place for people to travel to it i don't i don't understand how
there's a prada store and then another one across the street it hong kong needs more press somebody
how are they that rich it's again it's the u.s fucking doing something to china that doesn't
allow us to love it i think hong kong should be like tokyo is talked about like it's the fucking
creme de la creme of all yeah travel like tokyo is like the holy grail i think hong kong should
be in that same fucking place yeah i
agree hong kong should be in the same category what it didn't have like the it didn't have the um
so
of the
I can't put it into words
like
bro it's the
Tokyo has this feel
of like
oh
that's the best skyline
everything is done
on the entire planet
on another level
whereas in Hong Kong
like you'll get a bad meal
right
no
I mean like
I don't think so
I mean the restaurants
we went to
they were
fine
no
I thought the dinner restaurants
were good
yeah
I thought they were really good
it wasn't like Tokyo
no I thought it was
I thought it was exactly like Tokyo
yeah it was like
literally the same thing
yeah yeah
no
I mean we didn't go to
like in Tokyo
it's not as refined
as Tokyo
there's another word for you
refined
like you mean like
Tokyo's more like
has its identity
yeah it has its identity
everything's thought out
it's like you get pizza in Tokyo
you're like
oh shit
they
they thought of something
we didn't think of
you know what I mean
I think that's Tokyo propaganda
getting to you
yeah
I don't know
every time I would go eat in Tokyo
even when we went to the airport
in Tokyo
we were fucking blown away
by the airport food
we were just like
what
it was insane
insane
I had the best food in Hong Kong
where?
was I with you?
first of all
the hotel was great
and the airport was incredible
yeah the airport was great
what did you have?
are you guys working
for Hong Kong tourism?
and you didn't tell me?
no
are you doing a brand deal
for Hong Kong tourism?
no I swear to God
you're being paid?
dude
I agree with what you hear
it's the best skyline
on the planet
yes
that was
your room was incredible
your room was
really nice
it's the
and I don't think
it's like
it's not
the best
like New York skyline
is obviously iconic
and
you could see it cool
from like Jersey
but like
why Hong Kong skyline
is so cool
is because like
seeing it from across the water
is part of the skyline
do you know what I mean?
to enjoy New York skyline
you kind of have to leave New York
yeah yeah
but you're still in Hong Kong
like the main area of it
when you're seeing the skyline
yeah
that's why I think it's interesting
and when you land in Hong Kong
it's like you landed in Hawaii
it's like
it's warm
it's very tropical
it's like you see these mountains
and you're like
where the fuck am I
there's islands
yeah
it's not real
it doesn't feel real
it feels like a video
it's
it's what I expected
it feels like
Heath kept saying
it feels like I'm in
Ready Player One
yeah yeah yeah
but the buildings are designed
the same way
it's a very bizarre
I don't know
I think everyone should
travel to Hong Kong
what was your fact about it?
it was really interesting
you told me on the phone
oh we just
I just looked it up
and that you know
Britain
Britain
gave Hong Kong
back to China
in 1997
so guys
Hong Kong's not a
it is a part of China
but it's its own thing
yeah it's its own thing
it's got its own dollar
it's got the Hong Kong dollar
yeah
it's not on the yen
and they gave it back to China
in 1997
and
and China
it was making so much money
and it was such a
epicenter for business
that China was like
oh we need to leave it
capitalists
and then in 2047
Britain's supposed to give it back
but that's
that's crazy
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
it's
China's supposed to
China's
yeah it's supposed to
go back to China
in 2047
which is crazy
right
which is
which it might not happen
like they're saying
that's when the contracts up
but China has the opportunity
to make a communist
yes yes
but they probably won't
because it's doing so well
because it does so well
which I still don't understand
I don't understand how a country
can be like
yeah we're communist
but this little province
is not
just like what
well also Hong Kong
is like
in the middle
insanely expensive
first off
there's a fact
that 1 in 11 people
there are millionaires
oh wow
if you take New York
New York's 1 in 21
and the price
like for per square footage
to live there
is crazy
our Uber driver
was
he has a wife
and two kids
yeah
lives in a 300 square foot apartment
yeah
pays $2,500 a month
300 square feet
is like
it's like
what
that's fucking crazy
very tiny
and for that price
it's fucking insane
insane
that place is so expensive
like this house
yeah
that I'm in right now
in Hong Kong
would be what
80
100 million dollars
easily
easily
that place is so expensive
that it's like
I don't know
I've never seen
Adam W. said something
that really bummed me out
he was like
when you buy a car
when you buy a house here
it's like
it's almost better to rent
here in LA
and I was like
yeah you're right
I was kind of bummed
I bought my house
why do you
why
because
of what
like you
I feel like I was sold
a bill of goods
like yeah
you need to buy
you need to buy
you need to buy
like that's the smart thing to do
and then I bought my house
and now I'm like
and I like the house
but it's like
stuff just goes wrong
you have to like
upkeep the house
and there's property taxes
I don't know
it's like so expensive
psychologically
I love that I bought the house
why
what is that
it's like my house
it's like my thing
right
it's your thing
that you can work on forever
I know not everyone has the opportunity
to buy a house
but I'm saying
like Zane
refuses to buy
and he's always renting
and I'm like
but you're gonna do so well
on this house
but I won't make
that much money on my house
really
oh wait
remember the psychic we went to
that was funny
oh yeah
I love that psychic
I mean no
I actually fucking
I don't know
didn't like her
she roasted you
I love her energy
and she understood
what we were doing
halfway through I think
yeah
but initially
I was scared to go to her
because I hate psychics
yeah
and then Jason
you went up to her
to get your face read
yeah I went up there
and she was
just completely off
she just
she looked at me
and she was like
she called me big boss
she was like
you make so much money
you have so many girlfriends
yeah
oh do you remember her reaction
when she's like
what year were you born
you were like 73
and then she was like
she's Chinese right
so this is all in Chinese accent
and then she's like
when was your
when was your girlfriend born
and Jason goes
92
and she goes
oh
she was shook
fucking rattled her brain
yeah
but Jason went up
because I was like
I just don't like psychic readings
saying the most positive things
about Jason
she was just off
she was just saying
like I'm like the man
and then she would turn to David
and be like
you're broke
or whatever
yeah she turned to me
no luck
no luck
yeah
she said
she's like
she's like
you've been very unlucky
and I'm like
the luckiest person I know
yeah
but she said
my luck was gonna change next year
and I'm
in my head I'm like
fuck
it's gonna get better
yeah
this is sick
damn
no no no
but she
I think also
I mean she was just kind of
calling it as you would see it
because
you know
we were all younger
and then Jason was the only guy
that was his age
in our group
right
yeah
wait and then
what did she say about your hair
she probably
oh yeah
well this is the crazy
this is
the crazy part was
that you paid for the reading
yeah
and I was just standing on the side
yeah
and then she just like
looked at me
and then she asked me
to take off my hat
so she could see my hairline
yeah
and she fucking
I'm being dead ass
started dying at my hairline
she was like
she goes
you need to get surgery
yeah
and I'm like
what
I'm like
that is crazy
that was crazy
she's like
you're
you're four
she said
your forehead big
she'd say that about everybody
yeah
but mine
she was like
your forehead's huge
and then she was like
making fun of like
how far my hair went up
it was really really funny
yeah
and I'm so pissed
because we didn't film that part
yeah
because that's when
the fucking lady
the other lady came
and she's like
you guys have to get permits
it was
she started going at my hair
and it was so good
and her Asian accent
oh it was just like
it was like
the
like she seemed so sweet
with her accent
and then all of a sudden
just like
fucking attacking me
yeah
it's really really funny
she was too
and then she looked at Natalie
oh my god yeah
I got my reading
and she was like
the first thing she said
she was analyzing all of our faces
she was like
okay good face
very strong like man
and I was like
what
no no
that's what she said
she said
she said not like man
and she said
not like woman
you're like man
yeah
yeah
, I was like what
then I'm like
fuck yeah
I like this guy
but she also told me that
she was like
you're gonna find somebody
don't worry
like in love
in a relationship
but wait till I'm after 35
I'll have much more luck
and like more compatibility
if I wait till I'm after 35
so I got five more years in May
that's good
yeah
which I kind of
I guess I could understand
did you get bummed
that she was wrong
about so many things
because she was saying
good things to you
if she just left out
the other parts
yeah
she was so
you probably
you probably
would have been really stoked
yeah
but then it's when she was like
you're very rich
you're very rich
you have girlfriends
and then I told her
I was married
and then she was like
it's time to settle down
I'm like I'm married
yeah
and she was like
you have to stop focusing
on other girls
yeah
it was like
she thought you were
like some playboy billionaire
yeah
it was really funny
and then as I was leaving
I turned back
and I said
hey real quick
I said what's gonna happen
for me next year
because she told you
that you
she told David
that you were gonna meet somebody
right
no she just said
I was gonna have
really good luck
oh okay
and she said
when I do meet someone
to be careful
and not trust them
yeah so then I go
well it sounds like
he's gonna have a good year
I go what's gonna happen
for me next year
and she goes
oh you're gonna get very sick
oh yeah
and I was like what
oh my god that was crazy
she goes
big boss gets sick
she's like well
you've already had
such a great life
yeah
yeah yeah yeah
you know what was cute
on the trip
what
is when David would yell at you
and your sister
would try to defend you
I know cause I go home
and I cry to her
it's so funny
like
It's just, she is so good.
It's so funny when Mr. Sturt defends you.
Maybe you should do your own thing, David.
Maybe you should do it yourself.
Genuinely, it actually does leave me speechless
because I'm like,
I don't know what I'm supposed to say here.
It's cute.
Yeah, because it's like, it's, yeah.
Another cute thing that she did was.
Feels like Peppa Pig standing up for like.
Yeah.
I'm like, oh, okay.
This is awkward.
I was talking to her.
What I have queued up next isn't going to be.
Bella was saying.
The same level.
Bella was saying, she was saying how,
she was telling me about this trip
her and Natalie were going to take.
Yeah.
And in November, and I was just kind of like, aw.
She's actually taking that trip though, I think.
I am.
That is like, I've been talking.
Oh, no, not the way Bella was saying it.
I mean, it won't be the way that Bella does,
like thinks it's going to be.
Like the way that she approached,
even when we go on these trips
and I bring her along for like your vlog trips,
she definitely like,
her approach is very much like trip vacation.
Yeah.
And I'm like, no, no, no.
Like this is a work trip.
Like we are working.
There are things that we have to do each day.
We're not just like going around to the beach
and shopping and doing whatever.
Yeah.
God damn them.
And it's so funny in the morning,
she'll be like, okay, what's on the itinerary today?
And I do make an itinerary every day for our trips,
but do we ever stick to the itinerary?
Absolutely fucking not.
And I anticipate that.
Like I book everything just in case.
And then if we do it, we do it.
If we don't, we don't.
And then she'll get like really bummed.
She's like, we didn't go to the market.
I'm like, yeah,
no one wanted to go to the fucking market, you know?
But whatever.
Yeah.
I just looked up.
There was a market that we skipped.
Thank God we skipped it.
But it was, you get to go and like curse your enemies.
Yeah.
I thought that was fucking terrifying.
It's a very popular thing in Hong Kong.
It's called villain, villain hitting.
Villain hitting.
Yeah, that's what it is.
And they just like, I don't know exactly what they do,
but it's, it's kind of like voodoo, voodoo-y,
where they,
whoever you want to like cast a curse on or,
or I guess it's like diminishing negative energy too.
They also refer to it as like petty curses.
So I don't know.
Yeah.
I guess they're like little small curses.
Like maybe like you'll get like coffee spilled on you
if I curse you or something.
Right.
Yeah.
I think I always get that.
I was like, I, yeah,
I don't like any of that stuff.
Yeah.
It's kind of bad karma.
The voodoo, any of that, even getting our.
I saw a really,
I saw a really funny TikTok that I thought you would relate to
today.
It's called customer tennis.
What's that?
It's when like a billionaire pays money to play with
professionals.
And I guess it just happened where like some billionaire was
out there playing for like an hour.
What?
What do you mean just happened?
What are you talking about?
I just saw it on a podcast where like some billionaire paid
money to be in like a professional tennis match.
Oh, well that's like,
so he just paid professionals to like come by his
private tennis.
No, no.
Like he was in a match.
Like you're saying like he was at Wimbledon.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't know if it was Wimbledon,
but you can't do that.
You can't buy yourself into an open.
You mean like he had him come over?
No, no, no.
He played in a tournament with professionals,
but like clearly couldn't play as well.
Oh, but it must've been like a custom tournament.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
I mean, that's, that's all of LA.
Yeah.
All of LA.
I just thought that was a funny term.
Customer tennis.
Customer tennis.
Yeah.
I guess it's customer paddle here.
No, no, no.
It's a good business to be in.
I just looked it up and Hong Kong ranks number one
in the world for the number of skyscrapers that they
have over 500 feet.
Oh wow.
So they have, Hong Kong has 75% more skyscrapers
than New York.
What?
Oh wow.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
I guess it is fucking kind of freaky.
And the skyscrapers are like random and they're
like on hillside sometimes.
Yeah.
The bars were interesting.
That was cool.
The bars?
Yeah.
Cause they're all like kind of like outside facing.
Well, it's, it's imagine a hill and imagine three streets
and then you can just walk up the hill to another street
of bars, walk up the hill to another street of bars.
Like there's no cars.
Yeah.
The nightlife is really cool and also really lame
at the same time.
It was like really cool.
Cause it was like just full of people.
Yeah.
But it was also really weird.
Cause it was just like not the right vibe.
Like the best club we went into was like all guys
and like, yeah.
Which I know is like, it's, it's, I, I, I don't think
anybody has fun with all guys.
I don't even think girls like being at a club.
No.
Yeah.
With all guys.
Yeah.
I think, which is so strange.
It seemed like it was like all guys on the street too.
It was very, it was very, it was very.
I couldn't believe how much you got recognized.
That was crazy.
It was crazy.
Well, there's a lot of America.
There's a lot of like college kids.
It was very collegey.
I don't know.
A lot of the people.
It was giving spring break.
Oh wait, that was, wait, what'd you say?
That whole street.
Oh yeah.
One thing that was really funny.
I don't know if you heard this part, but we went into this like little club, whatever.
It was not big.
Yeah.
The first one we went into.
Yeah.
Underground one.
And we were having a good time and everybody was really nice.
Yeah.
This guy came over to me.
He's like, he's dying laughing.
He's like, he's like, Jason, you have no idea.
Do you have no idea how funny this is?
And I'm like, what, what, what, what?
And he's like, he's like, my friend, my friend Raja, he wants his dream is to be a party
promoter.
He goes, he goes, he goes, and tonight.
He goes, it's his first time.
First time trying to be a party promoter.
And I was like, oh, oh, oh.
And he's like, and he begged all of us.
He begged all of us to come out tonight.
And only, only like seven or eight of us come.
He's like, but on this night, David Dobrik walk into the club.
That's really funny.
And it was such a hole in the wall, like literal basement of some building that we went into.
I mean, I feel like you probably set him up for like.
The next six months.
Yeah.
Cause he'll be able to like eat, like that'll be his meal ticket.
He'd be like, you know, you got David Dobrik to come to his fucking party in Hong Kong.
It's his new profile photo.
That's really funny.
Somehow.
That's so funny.
That's really funny.
So good luck, Raja.
Yeah.
Good luck, Raja.

Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The speaker purchased a Tesla Roadster eight years ago for $250,000 and felt a deep sense of validation when it became a viral internet phenomenon.
He attended the Tesla Roadster event in Japan and Texas, where he was the last to check in and was recognized as a founder edition owner, making him feel honored and acknowledged.
The event took place at SpaceX, featuring live rocket testing and a surreal atmosphere, with attendees sharing excited, repetitive reactions about the car’s futuristic design.
The Tesla Roadster demo involved a full autonomous flip, which surprised and delighted everyone present, though the speaker felt it was a dramatic, not practical, showcase of the vehicle’s capabilities.
The car is fully autonomous and designed to fly only in specific, safe environments, with limited real-world use in traffic due to safety and technical constraints.
The speaker expresses skepticism about the car's practicality and long-term availability, especially given the delay in launching the full "flying" version until 2030.
Despite the car’s futuristic appeal, the speaker values functionality and companionship over spectacle, choosing a standard Roadster over the flying model to allow a friend to share the experience.
The journey highlighted contrasts between American and Chinese travel experiences, with the speaker praising Hong Kong’s unique culture, luxury, and efficiency while criticizing U.S. travel standards.

travel standards.
FAQs
The Tesla Roadster is a high-performance electric car that was first introduced as a founder's edition model. It's significant because it was one of the first vehicles to demonstrate fully autonomous flight, and it sparked widespread global interest, especially after Elon Musk's demonstration at a SpaceX event.
The speaker flew from Los Angeles to Japan, attended the event at a SpaceX facility, and was one of the last people to check in. He was granted access by the event staff and felt a sense of pride when recognized as a founder edition owner, especially given the age of the car and the novelty of the experience.
Yes, the event featured a surprise demonstration of the Roadster performing a full flip in mid-air, which was fully autonomous and captured attendees’ attention. The demonstration also occurred amid ongoing rocket testing at SpaceX, which added to the sense of excitement and futurism.
The Roadster comes in three versions: a regular sporty model, a performance version with thrusters that accelerates from 0 to 16.8 seconds, and a special 'rocket option' that allows flight—though this is currently invite-only and not available for public purchase.
Yes, the Roadster is fully autonomous and requires no pilot. It uses Tesla’s self-driving technology and thrusters to perform flips and fly, with Elon Musk confirming that it will be safe and capable of flying without any human intervention.
The Roadster can only fly for about 20–30 seconds and is not designed for use in traffic. It requires a clear, open space with no obstacles, and it must be used in designated test areas where safety and environmental conditions are controlled.
