[dramatic music] Continue to leverage principles to work for you, not against you, and that's where you become an unbeatable person. So it's just understanding, if I do the right things in the right order, I'm gonna get the right result. It's the greatest encouragement to me. That's impossible. - Let me tell you what I believe. - Your weakness is not your technique. - Yes, yes. - Don't think you are. - No you are. - You have the impossible life podcast. - I'm just sitting on a winning lottery ticket. - An idea that is fully formed, fully understood, that sticks. - This is the impossible life podcast, because Nick and I are attempting to live in possible lives. What we know is that nothing is impossible. So instead of using impossible as an excuse to not try, we'll use the pursuit of impossible as an accelerant for greatness. If something's never been done before, that just means it's unexplored. If they tell you it's too hard, it's just waiting to be simplified. Impossible is a default label used by uncorragious people, unwilling to take a risk. The real truth is this, the solution to any impossible task starts with this question. If I had to, what would it take? - What would it take? - Welcome to another episode of the Impossible Life Podcast. I'm your co-host Nick Surface and I'm looking across at a man so authoritative that when he goes to the gas station, the attendant asks him how much he wants to pay per gallon. That's right friends, the phone would Navy suit. (upbeat music) - Garrett Unclebok, a man who pays the same price for gas as his grandpeppy. - Have you broken a dollar gallon yet? Are you still paying quarters? - In my truck, I think it's gallons per mile. - Oh, yeah, well yeah. - I think you've still got some of the UK on you because there's no more gas at it. Unless it's, I think it's New Jersey. There's a couple states left that you have to use the gas attendant. I could be wrong on that. - Yeah, I mean, look dude, it was for an intro bro. It wasn't, you know. - I know, but do they have that in the UK? Is that why you were saying no? - No, I mean, you can pay at the pump or you go in and pay. It's the same as here. - That was fresh in your mind. - No, I just thought it was a great intro. - Oh, you do not like it. - It's like, yeah, makes it's why I don't like most jokes 'cause it's just made up stuff. - Look man, I've been in the Accurate joke intro series for like a long series. - I know, I was starting to like some of them. - Okay. - You know what, man, that's actually, I mean, that's a win. I know you're trying to insult me, but it's a win because that's like a back end accountment, but you know what, at this point, I'm so starved, it's still a cool thing. - You know, we got some great feedback the other day where I said that humor is like ketchup. - Yeah, people like that by the way. - It's true. - Yeah, it's gross if it's the meal. - Look dude, it's the sauce. We start with the sauce first, and now we're about to deliver the meat. - Are you ready? - It's kind of like how my kids eat chickfully. - Yeah, just slam the sauce. - Eat the barbecue sauce around. And then it's like, oh, there's chicken too. That's how we do our podcast. It's work, first. - 14 episodes. Just let me go. Anyways, all right, gee, so I'm always excited to the podcast as I've realized 'cause I say it every single time, 'cause it's true, I loved what we do. But this one, man, like this is so overdue, we're revisiting principles today. And we originally did on episode 40, which was literally four years ago if you can believe it. So like, that is hard to believe. - It was episode 40, we're on 314, bro. - I'm glad we're coming back to principles because I talk to people all the time. - Yep. - And this is not a knock, but I talk to people all the time. They're like, man, I love the podcast. Like it's so great. It's helped me a ton. I go, oh, how many episodes do they like? 30? - Yeah. - 40? That's amazing. That's wonderful. But also, you've missed a lot. - Yeah, yeah. - You've missed a lot. - Yeah, because-- - I love those people we talk to that they're like, I'm going back to the beginning, I listen to everything. It's like, good for you. - Yeah. - There's a lot in there. We're not just talking heads on here. Like there's specific content that you've missed if you've only done 30 or 40 episodes. However, since it's been four years and it's such a core topic, core topic, I'm just, I'm only surprised that it's been that long since we've decided. It's one of the things I learned as a speaker. Like when I first began to speak, I'm like, well, can't say that again. Said that already. And then one of the things I've learned and like a mentor said to me, man only have to be told once they have to be reminded many times and give them reminders on the good stuff. I don't know why we haven't done, you know, principles like an episode on principles every quarter, but here we are. - Well, we talk about them all the time. That's what you're saying. - We do, we talk about them all the time. - When you're saying that people that haven't listened to everything have missed something, from day zero, Garrett told me he's like, I want everything to be what we do when we cumulative. And I was like, I had no idea what you meant. - But we've done exactly. - It was just more of a man, what did I get myself into? - No, Brian, I was here to serve you and to serve the people that I knew need, what you had to have. Obviously I've grown a ton from that, so there's a little nugget for anybody out there. If you want to grow, serve. But I get it. So much what we talked about in the beginning was like, you need to like lay a foundation of, oh, we can't do this until you understand this. And principles is one of, I think principles of all the things we teach in mindset master, when we go way deeper in mindset mastery on principles than we're gonna do today, I think this is the hardest thing for people to understand. I think what you talked, it just, you can have multiple reps and people still are kind of like, they're like scratching their head. And so I'm really excited to get into this. So gee, let me tell you a little story about where we see principles at work. And of course, I'm gonna go to my beloved game of baseball because, hey, dude, how cool is it that we just got to go do a battle style with the Cleveland Guardians? - That was blast. - That was amazing. So that was yesterday, it's early the next morning. I'm still buzzing because for me, that was a dream come true. When we started this in my mind, I was like, man, if we could get into Manchester United and give them some of the elite biblical mindset, imagine what that team could do. Now I'm waiting for that call, Michael Kerrick, give us a call. - I love getting to do it. We got to have a short conversation about it. I've always been fascinated by, as pops would say, half the elite. - Athletes. - Resoubles. - Resoubles. - Like golf is the one that I've been most fascinated with, but I do really love baseball for the intimidation factor of getting in the batter's box. Because it's one of the things that I learned in the SEAL teams is like the guys here who win aren't the guys with the best genetics. It's not the guys who have the best records in the past. It is a mindset game. - Yep. - And it's the same thing. I see at the highest level of athletics. - It is a massive mindset thing. But you know what else goes along with mindset, Matt? G is being able to do some work and understand how to navigate principles. So I'm gonna take you to a little story from a man that I've met a few times. - Mookey bets. - I didn't know you've met Mookey. - Oh, multiple times. - I'm pretty sure I've told you that and you've probably forgot it. But I met Mookey multiple times because he wore a product that I've repped for years. And by the way, for the Cleveland Guardians, shout out to Patrick Bailey, man. Love you, bro. I know you're proud of this. - Let's go, man. - And we are cheering for you, praying for you, and expecting great things. - You're right, no about Pat. The best is yet to come. - The best is yet to come. He's a man of God. So Patrick got traded in the Guardians, which is how we got a connection with him. And he is a wonderful man of God. So, and shout out to all the other guys, man. David Frye, we slayed like all those guys. And it was so good to be with them. So anyways, Mookey bets. Unbelieveable athlete. He's bolder 300 multiple times. He's like, "Dunk a basketball." - Bold. - Mookey's an MLB player. - Bro, but he's one of these guys that he's good at every-- - I know. - And I talked to him about it and he's seen kind of bored about it. Like I was like, "Dude, so you both three hundred?" And he's just kind of like, "Yeah, whatever." Like he's just one of those dudes. He's just-- - You can't? - He's tiny. Man, when you meet him, he's like 5'9, like 165. If he walked by you and you didn't know baseball, you would never guess, "Oh, that's a pro athlete." But he is one of the greatest pro athletes. - Yeah, exactly. One of the most elite. So let me take you to the time when never. So lots of talent. And anybody who's in the MLB has tons of talent. If you've made it to a professional, to be a professional athlete, you know you're talented and you've got skills. 2024 National League Division Series for the Dodgers, right? They're playing my beloved podries. And I will be honest, I was cheering against them. Mookey comes into the series with a riveting O for 22. By the time they finish game two, he's O for 22. Dating back to the previous-- - That's such a wake up call for anybody that's been through a tough time of like, Mookey is like of athletes. Mookey's on a different category of athlete. - I love that you're saying it with three syllables. - You got to, especially for Mookey. - Shout out to pops, man. - Shout out to Mookey. - Yeah. - Okay. And even a guy like Mookey to come in on an O in 22, everybody goes through our times. - Yeah, exactly. And you don't see Worshtey. It dated to last year's playoffs. This is in the playoffs, he was O for 22. It dated the previous year where they got eliminated in the NLDS. So this dude comes in, goes through the first round of the playoffs. No, he's in NLDS, not NLCS. So now he's back in the NLDS again in the 2024, okay? So that means that they got eliminated in the first round previous year. He's come into this one and he's still not hitting. So in game two, he gets a home run robbed, which was what completed his O for 22. So it's like, nothing's going your way. - By robbed, you mean like, I caught it at the finish. - Jumped up over the fence and pulled it back. - So at that point, he's like, man, what nothing's going right for me, okay? So they have an off day going into game three. Most guys on off days, man, you're beat up. You've already played 162 games or whatever. You probably didn't play all 162, but you're beat up, right? You're in the playoffs, you're just trying to maintain your body. So what do you do on your off day? You rest. No, no, not Mookey. Mookey starts getting into the cage and he's hitting like hundreds of balls, soft toss off the tee out onto the field to get off the pitching machine so he can see the V-Lo. And in between every session he's talking to his coach, repetition, repetition, repetition, doing the work, just over and over and over again, trying to get it to feel right. What it turns out was that after doing, I'm going to say, probably, you know, I'll say hundreds of reps to be safe because that was what they said. I remember watching it. And I remember when they were saying this, even though I was cheering against him, I listened to what he was doing because I understood what he was doing.
and principles, I was like, I love what he's doing. It's not going to right for him and instead of being like, oh man, hopefully this will get out. It's like, I know there's an answer and I am going to find it by doing as many repetitions as possible so I can discover what principle I'm violating. - That's the power of principles. - Yep. So you know what happened, gee? He does all these reps and it turns out that what he discovered from all these different repetition working with his coach is that his hands when he was loading, which I don't understand the mechanics of baseball as deeply as these pro guys, but I do know load is what you're doing as the balls coming in. So like guys will start with their hands. - Stirring up your potential in here. - Right, your hands may start in one position, but your load position is back where you actually start the power of your swing. And what he found was that his hands were not getting into the ideal launch position. Very minor thing, but like when you do that when he reps and they have all the cameras and you have a coach watching you, you start picking up. - Yeah, it's like above his shoulder versus behind his shoulder. - Right, or whatever it may be. So finally they get that. So what happens? He starts getting the cage and when you get in the cage, if you can start to push the ball opposite field on purpose, like that's like whenever you're hitting because now you're controlling where the ball is going. So he starts getting that feel. Game three comes out. Boom, first that bat, home run, second at bat. - Big dog. - Boom, single, third at bat. Hits the ball 97 miles per hour, gets put out, but a 97 mile per hour X if you know you hit the ball on the screws, fourth at bat, line out. So he goes two for four, comes back into and they win the game. Game four comes back in, boom, home run again. Mookie's back, out of the slump, carries it into the World Series. Well, I mean, what's the point of that story? A guy who already knew some things to be true, instead of getting upset about what was happening, took it his feet back. And a guy who people would say is like, beyond exceptionally gifted, like gilded or notted, like this guy's special when it wasn't working for him, why? It's because he was missing a principal. Right. And so what did he do? He got to work to find it. We're going to talk about principles, both tangible and tangible. Right? There's like mechanics of baseball. There's principles there. The one I love to use is flight. Yeah. Right? Lift, thrust, weight, and drag. When you get these right, you can make a house, I mean, a plane that weighs more than a house, fly. When you don't, that thing stays stuck on the ground. Yeah. Back in the day, when they didn't understand flight, they thought if we could just make the plane lighter, we could get it to fly, which is semi-true, but it's only one of the principles. You got to get lift, thrust, weight, and drag, correct. Then you can make something fly. So there are tangible principles, like mechanics of baseball or principles of flight. There are also intangible principles, leadership, growth, relationships, all of these things, and they operate the same way. And that's where, if you want to be a mooky bets of a baseball player in life, where it's like, "Man, how does this dude just like bowl 300 all the time?" Well, when you understand principles, when you understand what governs outcomes, it's like, "Well, if I just do this, this, and this, I will get this result." Yeah. And so the question for everybody out there is where are you feeling stuck? 'Cause this is really the power of this episode and the power of principles. Where in life are you not getting a result and you want to get a better result? Or you're getting the results you don't want. You are 100% missing a principle. So rather than getting frustrated and blaming it on other people or telling with yourself whatever story, understand the same way that mooky got back in the cage, you need to get back into the game and realize that you got some work to do. So we're talking about how they work. Let's just start with some simple foundation. Here's some definition. What are principles? Okay, understand that God created an orderly world. Praise the Lord. Right? And that this is the story of Genesis. God divided the land from the water. God divided the day from the night. God, the sun rises in the sun sets. We'll talk more about this. How do you discover principles? It's through patterns. Right? If you were born like I was in the Alaskan bush raised by wolves, then-- I'm glad you finally revealed the truth, bro. Well done. And you know, you didn't grow up with a book and people telling you how things work. Well, how would you discover how things work through patterns? Well, man, the sun continually rises in sunsets, but the sun also rises in different places and sets in different places. It gets cold in some seasons. It gets warm in some seasons. And you begin to realize things are governed by a certain order. Everything in life is governed by order. It's not just like some chance of-- now, chance is what you see when you zoom in on a world of order. Right? For example, you flip a coin. You're like, man, it's chance that it goes this way. It goes this way. Well, when you examine millions of coin tosses, you see that it is not chance. Right? There's an order that governs the world. Yeah. Everything operates this way. So when you're frustrated by something, when you don't know why things are going the way that they're going, it's because you're missing a principle. What-- the death of the specific definition that we give to principles is principles govern outcomes. Right? So there are things that you can do to influence principles, but you cannot break a principle. Right. It's like gravity. Yeah. Right? And I just did a message about this this weekend of-- there is gravity. And you can't break gravity, but you can operate in a higher principle, which is lift. Lift allows you to overcome gravity. Right. And so then when you learn how to utilize principles, when you learn the limitations, when you learn the rules of the game, then you learn how to rise above them. Yeah. Like G. said, principles are the forces that produce outcomes. I like to think of them like waves, because if you've ever paddled out in the ocean, and you get-- like you're going directly into the wave, even if you duck dive or whatever it is, you're going to get smacked. You're not advancing forward. Whereas whenever you turn around and ride that wave, oh man. It's the greatest feeling. So when you're aware of principles, you know how to navigate them and create predictable outcomes. When you're not, they are the frustrations you bump into. Some scriptures that reflect or show principles in the Bible. Genesis chapter 8 verse 22, "While the earth remains, while the earth remains." This is God's beacon. Yeah. Seed time and harvest, cold and heat. Summer and winter, day and night. Shall not cease. God is saying there's an order. There's a structure to this. It's not going away. And one of my favorite scriptures, man, I know some of the folks from my team at Union and People in that world listen to this. I've been talking about this one, and I've been preaching this one. This is Galatians chapter 6 verse 7. Do not be deceived. God is not mocked for whatever one shows that he will also reap. God will not be mocked. A man reaps what he shows. Right. If you do the right things, if you put the seed in the ground at the right time of your, you water it correctly, it's going to grow. It's not personal. The seed doesn't have a bad attitude. It doesn't matter if the seed likes you. It doesn't matter if it's a good day or not. It doesn't matter if you're a quote unquote lucky person. It doesn't matter whatever. If you do the right things in the right order, you will get the right results. And so we're going to talk about not just what principles are today, but how to have that principles mindset that makes you someone who's like a mooky bed, who it's like, you know what, maybe I go through a slump, but in the end, I will win. I am unbeatable because I know how to get my hands in the right position to put this ball over the fence. When I've heard you say, you said on this podcast many times, you say what you take great comfort in is that you know that God created a principle in orderly world. Because what will happen? And I find this my greatest encouragement. Yeah, I don't need like, because life would be would be really terrible to me. If it's like, man, I did all the right. Right. Now, this is when you feel like your life is terrible. Yeah. We're like, I did all the right things and I just got all the wrong results. Right. That is, you know, and it is true. It is true and it's possible. And I like using the analogy or the context of agriculture because it's just such a great rep, and the Bible uses it so much. Our farmers keep shouting out to us. I love it. I keep people calling it. I wish I was more educated around agriculture. I'm such a layman as it relates to how far they said we've not said anything. That's crazy. Because I want to know that. Yeah. So one of those of you who do know, please let us know. And I think I know where that line is for me. Where I start on talking. But anyways, you can have something happen like in agriculture where you did everything right. You sowed seed correctly and it starts to come up out of the ground and hail comes and destroys your crop. Now that is chance. Right. Again, if you zoom in on that, if you zoom in on the one time, they hell destroyed your crop. It's like, man, God just hates me. Farmers doesn't work. But you know what? You know what hail is like people who move to Texas to talk to folks move into Texas about hail. Like, oh, it hells all the time. They're like, like what? Like, but not everywhere. Right. It's like, you know, it's like if you go to a concert and you spit and try to hit somebody, that's, you know, we'll get back to the episode in just a minute. So when the right house hits the market, your position to win. - Hale in DFW, the Lord's spit. Well, it does hail, but it's like it hailed on that one neighborhood in weatherford. Like it didn't hit our house. - Right. - Now I will say I bought my house in 2018 and within a month of moving in, my house got hailed on, which is great. Brand new roof. Go ahead and fill it up.
fix all that stuff, get that out of the way. - Oh nice. - Hasn't held on my house since. - I've been here for six years, we haven't had anything. - So anyways, the point that I'm making is you can do everything right, and yeah, every once in a while maybe hail hits your crop and it gets destroyed, but it's not gonna hit it again the next year. - Right. - And the next year. And maybe you can feel that, well, this happened and then this happened. If you can get all the principles right, you're not gonna get hailed on every single year. It just doesn't work that way. And maybe by some crazy chance, you're the point zero zero one percent that your crop got hailed on two years in a row. Well, it's not gonna happen three. It's not gonna happen four. Continue to leverage principles to work for you, not against you, and that's where you become an unbeatable person. A life would be terrible if it's like, man, I did everything. I know what the science says, but God just didn't feel like growing the seed today. God doesn't work that way. Yeah, as it's like we said, it creates predictable outcomes. It doesn't mean that you can like, you can say you're not gonna bat 1000, but you can say, man, more times than not, I know what's gonna happen. So what principles will do for you and we said it without saying so, I just wanna be really clear. And who doesn't want this, gee, certainty and confidence? How many people would love to be able to be in their situations? When we were prepping for this, I was telling you that because I have so many reps with so many companies as a 10 years as a marketing consultant, I'm at the point now when people approach me to ask me for help before I even talk to them or wanna work with them. I go, what's your product? Let me look at it. And I go look at their thing at whatever they're trying to sell. And because I know what I bring to the table and I also know principles, I know whether this thing's gonna work or be a pain straight away. And I'll be honest, I don't remember the last time I was wrong. It's not 'cause I'm perfect, but I'm starting to be able to recognize whether things are viable very early on. It's, you know, scripture says, and I believe it's red letters, but I could be incorrect here. But scripture says, "Rain falls on the just and the unjust." I see this, right? And okay, so if rain falls on the just and the unjust, I wanna give you this perspective as well. Right, 'cause one of the things we talk about a lot, almost as much as principles or equally as much as principles is identity. Right, you gotta know that you are a son of God. - Yes. - Right, like God puts you on the earth for a reason God has a plan for your life. God wants to do something for you. It's certainly not that God's like mad at you or like I'm gonna make sure he can't get anything right. Okay, so rain falls on the just and the unjust. That means like there is no bias to it. There God doesn't have a personal preference. Like if you get the principles right, rain's gonna fall on you. What that also means is just because you have a great relationship with God doesn't mean the math is gonna work for you. You have to understand principles. - Yeah. - Right, and as it relates to baseball, since we're talking about baseball today, you could have a deep relationship with God or I can put myself in the box. - Right. - I've got a great mindset. I got a deep relationship with the Lord. That doesn't mean I know how to put the bat on the ball. - Right. - There's principles to that. And you can also be a godless baseball player. And if you get the mechanics right, you're gonna learn how to put the bat on the ball. What you're gonna miss is you're gonna miss favor and then also ultimately, and this is like the way I'm living my life, is I think you're not set up, you don't have the foundation to have the greatest possible mindset. - Right. - 'Cause those players who do have all the mechanics when they are missing it, they don't know who they are. I do. - Right. - And that's your leverage superpower against that's how you compete against the people. That's why I wanna see people who are followers of Christ continue to win in every arena, 'cause you have something that those who you fight against don't have. - Yeah. - So good man. And so going back to that, and we're gonna go a little deeper into what you said, because we're gonna talk about what they'll do for you, what will make them hard to discover and then what it takes to discover them. Then we're gonna actually give you an application. But like I said, they'll give you certainty and confidence, because like you said, you take great confidence. The certainty you have is that there's always an answer. Like if principles govern the results, and there's a result you want that you're not getting, all that means is that you just haven't discovered the principle. - One of the encouragement. - One of the things that Nick really likes, he's pointed out to me, Nick's a highlighter for me sometimes. Right, like Nick likes to be, you know what I'm saying? That's what Nick says, like he's a highlighter for me. But sometimes he does it for me. Like he says what I said back to him, like yeah, that you know, I'm not trying to like lose myself. But sometimes you're like, I'm like yeah, that I have a focus. - I have a focus. - I have a focus on that. I'm like I should focus on that more. That actually is a good thought. Of one of the things I've said to Nick before, as I said, look, I'm not a person. I don't think I could ever be a person that knows everything. But I do think it's possible. And the type of person I want to be, I want to be someone who can figure anything out. And that's someone who knows how to identify and set up principles for success. Right? What the great thing that a principle is understanding and a principle's mindset gives you, is what we're talking about right now, is that it gives you certainty. When you, man, it's scary to get into business if you don't know how to make money. It's scary to get into business if you don't know how to make a sale. One of Nick's giftings is around marketing and online sales. Nick knows this stuff really well. And he can look at someone and say, this will or will not succeed. You can or you can't sell this. And I would say sell for a profit. You can sell anything. - Right. - You can't necessarily sell it for a profit. - Right, correct. And when you know, like if I do this and this, I'm gonna get this result. That certainty or clint near certainty is one of the greatest confidences that you can have. Principles doesn't mean that you can predict the future but you're gonna have a high likelihood of what outcomes look like because it governs outcomes. But ultimately, what governs all outcomes is God. God is sovereign. Principles are not sovereign. Principles play a great piece of God's ultimate myth. - Yeah, for sure. And the reason I just wanna say why I love it would be coming to type of person I could figure anything out. 'Cause you gotta remember, we talked a couple episodes ago about the, you know, how this podcast started and I talked about my own journey of like stepping into identity at the time when I'm sat across from you and I'm like, do this guy knows how to do so many things? Like you're a very capable person, G. Like you could drop you in the middle of the desert. - For a long time, I have desired to be useful. - Right. - It acquired a set of skills along the way. - Yeah, but you also acquired these skills from the greatest organization in the world, the SEAL teams. And I'm saying that that they are the greatest because they have a track record that it's not down to one person or leadership. These guys have actually cracked what it takes to produce a lead on a regular basis. And you got trained by them. So I'm saying you're going like, if you have to be the type of person that knows everything, then I'm screwed. 'Cause like they don't take Geriatric SEALs and I don't have the money to be able to go pay for all the schools that I would need to to get the level of training you did. And that's why I'm highlighting this for people out there because when you start to go, I don't need to be the person that knows everything. I need to be the type of person that can figure anything out. What does that do? It creates a very different belief because if I have to be the person that knows everything, it's already too late for me, right? Maybe this is how you think if you don't have identity. 'Cause I don't have what you have. But if I just have to be the type of person that can figure out, well, that's capability, that's potential great. I can learn anything. I can discover the principles. Now that encourages belief and whether you think you can or you think you can't, it's the difference between trying to be a node all and being a problem solver. - Correct. - Yeah. And so that was hugely encouraging for me. So I hope that's encouraging for everybody else. And the confidence you said, man, like how much, like to the point you made earlier about, how it would be really terrible if you were like, well, I planted and did things right and then like it just didn't work out and I don't know why there was no hail just decided not to grow this year. The confidence you feel in like whenever you understand principles is that now you have an element of control. Like once again, if my business starts to decline, I know the principles of how to marketing in order to get myself more business. So I have no fear, like I was talking a bit about, like in my industry, whenever you're in, whenever you're like you have your own business, one of the people's greatest fears that the business is gonna start to decline. And they're gonna be like, oh, and not know what to do. Especially if you're like dependent on word of mouth, that's very hard to, you can't control that as much. - Right. - Right. - You can't influence something. That's an old under conversation. What gives you confidence is when you know what to do because you go, look, I know that if I start doing this, I don't know when it's gonna come, but it will come. And it's an element of control. - It's confidence. And it's what to people who don't understand it appears like magic. - Right. - You can say watch this. - Yeah. - Because when you say, I know if I do this, then I will get this outcome. - Correct. - I remember we were at batting practice yesterday. - We were. - And I watched, you'll be able to tell me his name, 'cause I don't know all their names. But a lot of the players, they'd get in there and they'd hit, hit, hit, hit. And then they'd finally like slot one. - Yeah. - And put it over the fence and they're like, okay, I'm good and they're done with BP. One of the guys for the Rangers, I noticed the bigger guy, he did it three times in a row. - Yep. - And hit, hit, hit. And then he hits like two, three over the fence, got out, walked, done, okay. But then he came back and he did it again. And he came back and he did it again. And that's like, no, I actually know how to produce this. A lot of people, they hit the one over the fence and I'm not not getting any of the players that did that. Remember just helping you see like, when you not like, not only can I do it one time, I can do it twice, I can do it three times. Watch this. That's what confidence feels like. - Right. - And in this particular case, it was BP, when it was in and up over the plate, I mean, he was hitting absolute nukes. Like second deck, like deep into the second deck. I thought he hit it third deck on one of them. He was crushing it, was just on the side note. So, but yeah, that's exactly right. Because now it's like, okay, I know when this pitch is here, it's automatic. - If you didn't pick up the principles from your process, get up there and swing a thousand times, you might finally slot one, but you don't know how to do it again. - Right. So we talked about, they'll give you certain key in confidence and I hope that you're realizing that, oh, my business is starting to decline. I know what to do. Things aren't going well in my marriage. I know what to do. Things aren't going well in my health. I know what to do. Wouldn't that be great? Well, we're saying that that's exactly what these will do for you. What will make them hard to discover? Gee, so hard to discover. Negative emotions and a lack of identity. - When you get angry, you're the dumbest version of yourself. - Correct. - You are the dumbest version of yourself when you're angry.
It, like literally, just think about what your brain is doing. You're mad because you didn't get the result that you wanted, and you don't understand that result. Did you ever get mad when you're like, "I know exactly what I did wrong?" No. Right, you get mad when you're like, "That's stupid." Right. You're mad at the thing. You might get frustrated at yourself, and that's a different emotion than like, "Why is this happening? I don't get this." And you get mad, and you're saying, "I don't know what to do, and I'm just going to toddler rage to try and change my environment." You're the dumbest version of yourself when you're angry. You miss principles, right? The emotion's really leading to the second piece here, and I'll talk about it in a second, but the emotions put you in this place where you start to take things personal. And it's like, "Dude, it's not personal. Rain falls on the chest, and the unjust." It's not about you, but what emotions will do is it will make you take things personal, and you miss your opportunity to grow. It's the same as like, "Somebody giving you feedback, and you like cry, you get offended, you get mad at them." It's like, "Dude, I'm just trying to help you. I'm telling you where you could get better." And if you bring emotion into it, you miss the opportunity to grow. Emotions will make you miss principles. I was saying this to Nick. I said, "It's not a coincidence. I am naturally. " I don't want to say naturally, maybe it's just been decades in my life, and I had a father who demonstrated it for me. Because when I was like a 10-year-old, I was a hothead. But for decades in my life, I've been someone who has my gut reaction to emotions is no. Stop that. Emotions have to knock at the door three times for me, and I'm like, "Well, you seem dressed appropriately. I'll let you into my house." Before I'll entertain an emotion, because I know what a lot of the times what they're doing, they're going to do, is make me miss the moment. I'll invite them in when they're going to make the party better. But if you're not here for the right reasons, I'm not letting you into my house. Emotions will make you miss principles, because instead of gathering data and seeing the pattern, you make the wrong thing the priority. You're thinking about how it makes you feel. And you said, when we said negative emotions, frustrations, sadness, have you ever noticed when you get emotional, you hyper-fixate on things? Oh, yeah. And you're probably not hyper-fixating on the thing that you actually need to change to make the situation better. Emotions are like magnifying glasses. That's really what they are. And they, and usually towards the wrong things. It's mountain out of the mole. Yeah, big time. And most of the, because what happens when you have a strong emotion, you're focusing immediately goes to yourself. Yeah, so you can fixate on the wrong things, but then the worst thing you can do is, right, this is, again, what Nick and I are talking about right here, that makes principles harder to discover emotions and even more so, taking things personally. Yeah. This is, this is super power of principles here. When things don't, I'm going to talk about me. When things do not work for me. When, when I don't get the results that I want, when I'm not successful, I know he like, this is the beginning of the equation for me. I know God is a great plan for my life. I know God loves me. I know what I'm living for. Like, I'm not, I know I'm doing everything right. And the rain is not falling on me. So what am I doing wrong? I don't say why it's gotten mad at me. I guess I'm just not a good enough person. I guess it's not just meant to be. No, it is meant to be. I am meant to be successful. God just making sure I know how to do math. Right. So what am I missing? Yeah. But Garrett, what if you're not called to this? Garrett, what like, no, God's with me. Who told you you're not called? Right. And, but this is, and that's where you start to get all, because so many doubts. Who told you you weren't meant to be great? Yeah. And really, really capture that because if you look at the temptations of Jesus, it always starts with the seed of doubt. If you look how the devil works, you want to keep all this stuff out. Just stop the doubtful, the doubtful thinking. Because did God really say not to eat with fruit of the garden? That's how the, and if you're the son of God, that's how, that's how the devil, the known temptations we have where the devil speaks in the Bible, it always starts with doubt. Man, what does that tell you about doubt? It is literally the devil's number one entry into your life. Fear, fear and doubt is how he gets you to quit, how he gets you to give up. Right. He wants, and he's trying to make you misprinciples as well. Yeah. Because he says, if when it doesn't rain at your house, I can get you to blame God. I'll win. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Because once, once God's against you, well, now you need to try something else, right? Because man, you really need that rain. And that's how people gets, that's how you end up doing things that you said you'd never do. You begin worshipping the wrong thing. Exactly. So good, man. All right, G. So that's what makes them hard. So let's talk about what it actually takes to discover them. And number one is observation and pattern recognition. Principles hide in patterns. When we did episode 40, and like if you really want to go deep on this, episode 40 was such a great foundation for this because we used the right brothers and we went deep into how they discovered the principles of flight. I love that episode. I listened to it a lot because when we delivered it, I was definitely doing my job as a co-host and not necessarily as a human. You were observing. Co-deliver. And so like, I had to listen to that one multiple times. But because I remember people tell me when it clicks for them, I remember years later, when you told me like I get it. Yes, I see it. Yeah, it's like, I think I made the analogy then. I'll make it now. It's like seeing bullet trace. Oh, yeah. If you've never seen bullet trace, you're like, that's movie stuff that's made up. Like, no, it's a real thing. Yeah. Right. Like you can actually see the vortex behind a bullet as it's traveling. It's easiest to see when they're coming right at you or you're standing right behind it. It's harder to see from an offset angle. However, it is a real thing. And if you've never seen it before, you don't see it. But once you have seen it, it's like your eye consistently picks it up. Yeah, it's amazing. I would rather not have it coming at me. So I'm glad that I've seen it. Especially to get out of the way. Thank you. Yeah. Because obviously you can dodge bullets. Anyways, we're going to add that to your list of things you can do that. I would say bullets are dodgeable. Man, okay. I'm going to get very distracted. Anyways. So observation. They just move very quickly. You need, you know, you're like, are you going to dodge a bullet fired precisely at you in the, I'm not Mookie bets. Right. Right. But you can see bullets coming and you can move. So shout out to Mookie bets who can dodge bullets. That's what we're saying on this episode. I love how we've like elevated boochies. Mookies are tall. Athlete. Like you might even begin to fall. Yeah. For the book is for sale. Yeah. So anyways, but so observation of pattern recognition and what I'll say. And closer you are to something I'm not talking about like, hey, I read this guy's Instagram post because you're not getting deep actual observation. You know, I've gotten no Garrett really well and pick up on a lot of things that he does. I'm with Garrett all the time. I get to observe what Garrett does and the things that he says when I watch him in different situations just in passing. We've done so many random things together as well as a lot of things just that are just normal friendship stuff. What do I get to observe? Garrett all the time. How do they get to know the principles of marketing? I've worked with a lot of companies and spend thousands of hours deep in these companies understanding how they operate and watch these things over and over again. So I say this to encourage you. You cannot like read a five minute Forbes article and something like that. Great. I know all the patterns and unless you have a deep knowledge of that thing that you're reading about, you're not going to pull the principles out just by snapping your fingers. It takes a bit of work and lots of repetition. So again, the same way the things that are mentioned in scripture. The sun rises, the sun sets, you would observe that and see the pattern and all like all business or all problems, all problems are just like all complicated problems are just set of simple problems put together. Yeah. Okay. And when you can understand simple systems, then you begin to understand complicated systems. You've got to know the basics of principles and then you start to see that like the problems you don't understand, it's just a two or three or four multi layered, complex problem. But if you can understand all the principles that play, then you know how you're going to get the exact same results as when's the sun going to come up tomorrow, uh, 604, right? Right. I've been watching. I've been paying attention. You can know what's going to happen in business. And then the things that are like so advanced, like economics, well, or like, like trying to predict the stock market, if you, like God could predict the stock market. If you are intelligent enough, you could. And it is everyone's fear that AI will get to that place. The thing that I think AI is going to struggle with is the psychology aspect. Yeah. Because you have to anticipate and for simulate psychology because the, you know, the stock market is both math and psychology, but there is the people who understand the math and are good at psychology. They're in that principal place of like, I don't know exactly what's going to happen, but I got a really good idea. Yeah. Now, and so the stock market's a great example, shooting guns is a great example. Baseball is a great example because the second thing you need to be able to discover them, like I said, observation and pattern recognition, we need consistency. It's a great example. And so, I think that's the most important thing to see is that thing. Like, I can shoot the way that these guys can hit baseballs of like, I do something and when the ball, when the bullet doesn't hit the target, I'm like, hmm, okay, it must have been this. Right. Because I know exactly what I, I'm clear on what I did. There must have been maybe more, and this isn't like blaming something is more like, oh, either this was off or the win was off or like, I miscalculated something. I'm not like, no, man, what happened? I thought I did everything right. Right. I know it's either A, B or C that I did wrong. Right. Now, but to start with, what consistency looks like in these things? So like if, because I think you're trying to remove for variables and things that might be influencing it, if one day you're shooting on the range outside the next day, you're inside and, or like, if you're in baseball, if you're like, let's try the fastball. Now let's try the curveball. Now let's try, it's like, no, you need to get the fastball. 1000 fastballs. Right. There's a reason athletes, like great, great athletes all tell these stories or there's these myths or stories about them of what their preparation looked like. Right. And it's thousands and thousands like Steph Curry. Yeah.
the dude who's like unlocked a different level of three point game in the NBA. I don't remember his routine, but I remember that it's silly. It's, it's a couple hundred three pointers every day. Yeah. Yeah. It's stupid that he's done since he was little. Yeah. And from all the different positions, I don't remember all the details of it. But if you want to get results in your life, it's principles plus consistency. Okay. And so if we'll just do the algebra here, if you can solve for consistency, I got consistency lock down. And if I'm not getting the result that I want, then I just need to adjust my variable, which in this case is principles until I get the results that I want. But if you're not consistent, it's going to be luck when you hit a principle and you won't know how to replicate it, right? Which led to the Garrett Unclebok results formula, which was principles plus consistency equals results. So gee, I want to apply this. But before we do, because some people, I hope you guys are getting this. I hope, like, I hope you're starting to like, man, I can't discover principles. Biggest take I want people to have is the mindset, understanding of like, dude, stop taking your personal. Yeah. When it's like, God's not mad at you. Right. But also being a, like, have a relationship with God that that's not just a fact for you that you feel that way. Right. That look, put your put, put your heart in a place with God that it's like, I don't just know that like because Garrett told me that God wants me to win. I know because I have a relationship with God. Yeah. That God wants me to win. God has a great plan for my life. Put your life, put your heart in that place. That way you can lean on principles that much harder. And because here's like, because of my relationship with God, what I know is it's very, very unlikely for Hale to fall on my crop. Right. Yeah, because you know the guy that controls the weather. Yeah, for sure. It's like whenever we, when we had the thing with Ryan, obviously, and everything that happened, it was the oddest thing that that was the hottest day of the year. I mean, we not had a day even close to it. And then the one day we run the 50 mile goes to 96 and my best friend James, man, when it, he was like, wouldn't be a, he's like, man, if you guys have run it the weekend before or after it would have been perfect. And I said, yeah, but who controls the weather? And he's like, God, I was like, so it was meant to happen. That's different. Yeah. I wasn't, I wasn't mad at the weather. I'm not, I'm not mad. I know God's for me. And I know that there's something that was supposed to happen in that. So that's, that's a different level. So let me give you a cheat code though. For all of you, I hope that you have the mindset. I hope you realize, okay, the process of discoveries where I find the principles and that's where ever God's developing who you are. But if you are going, man, I, I'm still not really sure how to get these. Here's the cheat code. Just do what someone who has what you want is doing. And like, once again, you need to have intimate knowledge. This is not like I saw an Instagram post from this influencer. And he said to do four sets of eight bicep curls. And now I'm just going to like, I'm going to look exact like him. There's a lot of other stuff that that guy's doing here, not aware of. You need to be able to have intimate knowledge. But if I was a baseball player, we're going to go back since we started off that analogy. And I want to be a great hitter. I'd be saying what do great hitters do? Well, you know what? One of the greatest hitters of all times, Ted Williams, he wrote a book, right? Which I love. You can talk like Tony Gwynne once again, great hitter modern day, great hitters. You know, there's Luis Arise who plays for the San Francisco Giants. Like you start looking. What do these guys do? Like these, these, these are not guys who just show up at the park and go like, ah, I've got it. They're working. What did Mookie do? Cage work soft toss off the tee off the off the off BP off the machine. How many times over and over and over and over again until he knew he had that right? Okay. Well, did he do it once? No. He did it. Exceptional amounts to get out of the slump, but it's not like he's just fallen off and taking it for a grand and since then, what does it look like? Sounds a lot like hard work. Sounds like opportunity disguises hard work. She, but if you, if you do what that person does and you, and you know, like I said, you had that intimate knowledge, it's just a matter of time. There's going to be, well, I think the, it's why I like it, you know, and it's also why ESPN. It says one of the hardest things to do in sports. I think ESPN once rated hitting a professional baseball as the number one hardest thing to do. It's very hard to do. Yeah. Okay. So sometimes you're going to do stuff in life that's hard and you're like, well, I'm doing everything right. And, you know, what if, because this, trying to get, trying to get success is both an identity and a principles equation, right? You got to have the right mindset. It's a big piece of it. But then also you can have the mindset. You can have the belief in God. You have the relationship with God. But if you don't have to, how to head to baseball, we're going to need a miracle for you to hit the baseball. Right. Okay. So if we're not going to count on a miracle, you're going to have to get the principles right as well. And what you've got to learn how to do is like, look, get the identity portion right. Do the, do the work have the relationship with God when you don't have fear. Like if you want to suck in the batter's box, bring fear and doubt in there with you. Yeah. Or anything. Yeah. Be someone who you can get in the box without fear and doubt. Then leverage the principles correctly to say, again, principles does not guarantee outcomes, but you, you change the statistical likelihood. Right. And so the way that I look at principles is it is, it is an uncontrollable, right? It's an uncontrollable. You cannot guarantee that you can hit a baseball. Great. It's like what's abouting averages greatest baseball player ever. Man, I'll talk my head. I don't know. I mean, Tony Gwyn is up there for back in the 400's or Z1. No, no, no. Ted Williams had the greatest season of all time, 406. That's the highest that he had in the game. So, okay. So, yeah, even the greatest players, a third of the time, they're hitting them. So they can't guarantee it. Right. Cannot be guaranteed. They can just get really likely. And so what is the actual math equation of that can use the controllables to leverage and bring down the uncontrollables. Yeah. Be so good with the things you can control that it is very unreasonable that you wouldn't be successful. Yeah. That is how you utilize principles. It is not because and if you have a weak identity, you'll step in the box and then you not hit and you're like, oh, well, it's a you turn it, but you start having identity fault errors where it's like you start making poor mindset statements. And then you're losing your ability to leverage principles. Yeah. When Mookey was going through that slump, I doubt, I highly doubt who's going, man, maybe I've just lost it. No, all he, you know what he was saying is results matter process doesn't because people were like, well, you hit that one that got pulled back last night and he was like, it's still an out. That's the exact quote he said. It's still an out. Yeah. So he was not going to quit until he, until he got the results. Right. So again, get the identity right. It's a different episode. But then that puts you in a position to understand how principles work, principles, govern outcomes. What can I do to influence the principle to work for me when you have the principles mindset? I'm not saying everything goes your way. Correct. But you know how to make things go your way. Yeah. It's just a matter of time. You become inevitable, which we've talked about another episode. Okay. So gee, if all is baseball talk, where are we going to apply principles? We're going to apply it to great relationships, which has, because we don't want this to be just for baseball players, even though we do love our baseball players. So look, man, everybody wants to have great relationships. So we're going to show you how to discover these and then we're going to give the exact principles of great relationships and talk about how we navigate them in our own lives and how we've seen other people do it. So very first thing, you have to identify a great relationship. And here's, here's how we define great relationship is that you're better together than your part that you're so much more together than you'd ever be on your own. And it needs to be true for both people. You talk about this in marriage, do you know? I think it's, well, it's, it's in relationships, it's synergy like we were talking about where you're better together than a part you multiply each other. I had a, I had a definition early on in marriage. Lindsay and I talked about this like either right before we got married or right after we got married, it was in that season. And I said great marriages when both people think they got the better into the deal. Yeah. Right. Like you're like, no, I got the good into the deal on this when both people feel that way. Because relationships, a great relationship is where you, is where you make each other better. They can't just be one way, right? It can just be like, well, man, I really want to hang out with this guy. He makes me better. Well, do you make him better? Right. Right. But when you both, when that happens for both of you, that is a great relationship. And it's going to be in the context of whatever you both care about or whatever you are both focused on, just like a marriages. Yeah. Exactly. And I hope you have a living example of this. I will say coming out to Dallas has been such a level up for me and seeing great relationship. It's not just in friendships. Like, I mean, your dad and pastor Keith having a 43 year friendship where they just committed to each other and said, hey, we're supposed to be together and they've run and they've built, you know, honestly, a church now that so many people are getting blessed from like their fruit of their relationship is blessed thousands of people at this point. I would say tens of thousands because really this podcast would not have happened without their relationship and they're speaking to you. So not to mention all the people pastor Keith is touched. And it's just, it's ridiculous how many people have benefited from that. The power of multiplication. It really is. And so I hope you get to see some examples. And here's the great thing. Listen to this podcast. We are going to continue to give these great examples. Your parents are an awesome example of marriage. We've had them on the podcast. Go listen to them. You know what your mom says all the time about your dad? She just, I just love that man so much. Now your mom is, she's a very attractive woman. She looks amazing. She's very, you know, she's very sweet. She's smart. She's caring. She's intelligent. Your dad absolutely loves her to pieces, man. Talks about Darling. Talks about how much she loves. They, they both sit there and talk about the other person and you can hear they're just like, man. I just love being with this person. I'm so grateful and lucky. I got, they haven't used the word luck. I've never heard that. But like, it's that sentiment where you're just like, I won. Like I won. And that's what we're saying. When you get to be around a relationship like that, you're like, oh, wait, because what's on TV, G? What do we see all the time? The ball and chain. You know, like, sometimes people say my better half, which is like, you know, not the, I guess it's saying nice things, but it's not always, it's not always meant to be, you know, I don't really always feel like it's so sincere. But we have such terrible examples of marriage. So, so we hope that you have a living example because when you have a living example of a great relationship, whether it's a friendship or whether it's in marriage, it makes this a lot easier. So if you don't, we're going to use the ones that we have. The same way these baseball players are going to use a coach and use video systems and all the other things they do to help them see correctly. I got what, what does it look like? Yeah. Exactly. So if you don't know what great looks like, we're going to talk a little bit about it.
about it. So the principles of a great relationship, and this is not just a marriage, this is a friendship as well. Number one, honor. Now honor is basically you assigning value. Everybody you navigate this principle of honor, whether they know it or not, because you all assigned value. If somebody comes in and talked to you and you're like, this guy looks like an idiot, what a loser. They could come in and say exactly what you need, and you will not benefit from it because you've not honored that person. You've assigned them no value, right? And so people are very bad. I think we honor, in general, in society, we honor the wrong things. Like, oh man, the Kardashians. I don't know them personally, but looking at a lot of what they stand for, I don't think that that's necessary. I don't think anyone's going to hold this one against you. Well, you never know. There's always going to be that person. It's like, I met her and she's so sweet. Anyways, probably I pride not to listen to this podcast, but you get my point. What you honor, you get more of, just understand that. Whatever you assigned value to, you get more of, hey, I think this is cool. Hey, I, you know, money's important to me. You will get more money, but you'll get all the sinful stuff that comes, comes with it. Honor the right things, honor God, honor what God honors. What does God energy? He values pride. I'm sorry, he values humility. He values righteousness. He values justice, mercy, grace, love. You start honoring what God get honors. You'll get more of that. So what does this look like in relationship to honor your partner? The way Pastor Keith does it, you've adopted this from him. He celebrates his wife on the 20th. I know when their anniversary is because he's so, like, abusive about it. Yeah. At the 20th of every month, he celebrates his wife and he knows how many hundreds of months they've been together because it's over 40 years at this point that they've been married. That's a way of honoring. I don't do that personally, but the, the, the, the, the, remember, you're going to assign value. How do you assign value? You, you, you express it. So for me and my wife, I, I send my wife messages and really all the people that are close, you've gotten them. Your dad was talking about how he's received them. The people that are close to him life, they will get messages from me where I express what they mean to me. What am I doing? I'm, I'm honoring them because they mean something to me and I'm letting them know. So that's, that, rather it's a marriage, whether it's a friendship, when you start assigning honor to people, you let them know. You don't just kind of go like, oh, he knows how I feel or she knows how I feel about her. No, you, you express it in something whatever way. It's the same reason that God asked for sacrifice in the old testament. Yeah. Tell me what you value. 100% because we, we think like, oh, they sacrificed an animal. That's basically you taking a stack of cash and burning it. Yeah. You wouldn't, you wouldn't feel better. They didn't have, they didn't have binge mints back then. Right. But they didn't have a cow. Yeah. And that cow was like, they were waiting for that thing to give a calf because guess what that was? That was right. It was their wife. It was their sustenance. Yeah. Exactly. So, so honors the very first thing and the second one is proximity, right? And you can observe this in any relationship. No marriage or friendship. I can't say like, oh, here's one of my best friends. One of the last time you hung out, I don't know, man, like 2024, you're not one of my best friends. Right. You're a nice idea that I had. Same thing with your marriage. What do we say to men more than anything? Date your wife. I can't, it's like the simplest thing. We, we, you and I both get the privilege of working with some men one on one. Yeah. We also do some, some group work. And there've been, there's people that I've been with and I'm like, I've told them over and over and over again and they don't do it. And they're still in the same challenges that they've had before. And there's also some men, I won't say their names, but man, I'm thinking of specifically right now that they went through the challenge of like, okay, I'm going to figure out how to do this because sometimes it's difficult because of life and seasons and everything else. For sure. How to date my wife, but then do it every week and it's like, wow, it's crazy. Everything got better in our relationship. Yeah. Yeah. Because you know what, you know what proximity and regular intentional time, crates G is connection. Yeah. And that's what you're aware of. You know when you're connected or not connected to somebody and it amazes me that we miss that why we don't have that connection. But speaking from experience, you know what I said all the time about my about reing whenever our marriage wasn't going great. I just don't feel connected to her. And so in my loser mentality and in my absolute selfishness and not knowing God, I just thought, well, maybe we're not meant to be. And in the way of the way you're talking about proximity, there is in parentheses here, consistency of proximity because this is watering your garden. Yeah. And you can't we've had a lot of analogies about this with the team and the guys at Union for some of the processes that we're in that just take time. Yeah. Like nine women can't make a baby in a month. Okay. You can't if you're supposed to water and this is we're going to step outside of our agricultural intelligence here. But if there's whatever volume of water you're supposed to give to a tree in a month, you can't give it all to it in a day. Yeah. Exactly. I don't think you can. Maybe you can. No, you kill the seed. Well, trees have different water absorption. But like with certain plants, like let's talk about like potted plant or some small plants, you've got to give it water consistently. You can't give it all the water in one day. There you go. Let's stick with what we know potted plants. Great. Yeah. And that's exactly right. And so it sounds so obvious and simple. But like I said, the example I was given with my wife, it seemed whenever this CBT guy was saying this to me, I was like, he's like, you've got to create these things. I was like, oh, man. And that's I look back at old Nick. And I'm like, dude, you are an idiot. Of course you had to do this because when you were aware of the person shaking my head, yes. Yeah. You didn't need to say that, bro. Everybody already knew that. But thank you for re emphasizing that. They're loves to like make sure I know how stupid I was. I think what a pathetic. Yeah. Every day I wake up and I ask myself, wouldn't idiot do that? And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing. Thank you, Garrett. That's all down to you. But the but one side now that I look at the principle, I'm like, well, of course. And I'm saying this for people out there because it's like when you realize the principle, you're like, this is so obvious to you. But to people who are not not who are don't know the principle, what are they doing? What I was doing before bump it into it. I just don't feel connection. What did I have all the negative emotions? Well, maybe we're not meant to be maybe blah, blah, blah, blah, all wrong because I didn't know principles. So honor proximity. And gee, this is the one that I think a lot of people would miss out on. But so obvious when you know it, health, uh, we need it. We need a gong here. Bash Keith. Yep. Great. The best gift you can give another person is a healthy you. So good. Yep. It's and then that's and we all know this. Go try and have a great relationship with a person who's got, you know, mental, they're mentally ill or whatever they've got mental health disorders, whatever the correct way to say that is. And they also get physically sick all the time. Really hard to have a deep, meaningful relationship with that person. Why? Because they need a lot. Like they like, I you know, we're talking about this beforehand. Our friendship continues to grow and get deeper and deeper, which I really appreciate. What you never have to worry about and what I've never had to worry about with you. I've never once gone, I wonder if Garrett will be up for this. I wonder what mood he's in. Will he be like this? I've never, I know how you're going to be. Because health is, you know, let's talk about some of the areas of health really could just as we wrap this up. You can have emotional health. Correct. Right. And so that is don't be emotionally diseased, but also have some emotional strength to you. Right. That you can absorb things that might produce an emotional response, but I have the ability to carry this to withstand it and be a strength to my partner to be to be wonderful for like because what is health like health? Like if you look at health in a person, you look at health and in animal, it is both beauty and strength at the same time. Yeah. If you are weak or in certain characteristics, unbeautiful, you're not healthy. Right. When you're healthy, you look the best, you feel the best, you're the most capable. Right. And that is the best gift that you can give to somebody else. Yeah. Because if I was going to oversimplify which I do like to do, what does sick person needs is they need a lot. They need to take. When you're healthy, what can you do? You can give. And that's what I'm saying. The healthier you are, the reason you have better relationships because you're more able to give. Now, when you have two people that are able to give the point I was making about our friendship, you never wonder how I'm going to turn up either. I was saying to you, I was like, I can't remember the last time I asked you, hey, gee, what do you, like I need help? I, it just doesn't happen. We talk about a lot of fun stuff. When we get together, it's great. We both come in healthy and we get to talk about like taking ground, advancing the kingdom of God, big ideas. I love it. It's so much fun because we're both healthy. We're both able to give to what the vision and the purpose that God's put us together for. Which, which comes back to what is a great relationship? We make each other better. Correct. It's better that we're together than that. We're apart. And that's the power of principles just in relationship. And when you know it, so when you're looking at your relationships, honor, proximity, health, this starts like, if you're sitting there going like, well, you know, I really value this person. We get regular time, but it's still not great. What's their health like? What's your health like? When you come into the relationship, are you going like, oh, and the first thing you all do is just dump on each other for 15 minutes, probably not going to be the great relationship you want. Because, you know, if you've got to both suck the energy out of the room before you can then start to build something, that's a hard relationship to have. And when you understand these things, you start to look at relationships and go, oh, okay. And what happens? It makes sense. You know why you feel closer to some people than others, and why you have great relationships with some and not with others. That's the power of principles just in one way. And I hope that everybody out there's encouraged now that they can go out there. So do you wrap up? So as we wrap up principles for today, right? We didn't just talk about relationships, but I want you to walk away with is this mindset of principles where you can look at your life and say, okay, even if I don't understand what governs outcomes, I know that the outcomes in my life are governed. So if I can put myself in a place where I have a deep relationship with God, I know who I am. I'm not questioning my father. I don't think my father's a, as Bruce Almighty said, God with a magnifying glass and I'm the aunt. Right. When you don't look at your life that way, when you know like, man, God is a great plan for me. And I'm meant to succeed. All I've got to do is understand the math. If you can get that mindset, right? Then you add to it consistency. Your life becomes a formula where you know you are inevitable. And ultimately, no matter what I do, I'm going to succeed.
