How To Say What You Mean And Ask For What You Want

This podcast episode features Amanda Ewan interviewing Holly McHugh, a sales and messaging strategist, about authenticity in business and life. Holly shares her personal journey of initially hiding her corporate job while building her coaching business, and how showing up as her true self led to explosive growth and deeper connections. She emphasizes that authenticity means saying what you truly mean rather than what you think others want to hear, and that sharing personal struggles and stories is what creates genuine resonance with the right audience. Holly explains that many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of trying to add value in a generic way, which stifles creativity and fails to connect. Instead, she advocates for sharing the challenges you overcame, as this plants seeds of possibility for others facing similar struggles. She notes that holding back from authenticity only attracts the wrong people, while being yourself is the fastest way to attract aligned clients who resonate with your unique approach and personality. The conversation also covers the importance of asking for what you want by framing it as a win-win invitation rather than a favor. Holly advises leading with what's in it for the other person and making it easy for them to say yes. She stresses the need to understand what your ideal clients actually want—not what you think they need—by having real conversations, asking questions, and entering the dialogues already happening in their minds. This granular understanding allows you to create messaging that feels custom-fit and magnetic. Holly concludes with a powerful reminder that holding back your authentic expression is a disservice to the people you could help, and that the worst outcome of being yourself is simply that the wrong people won't follow you—which is actually a blessing. They're all special in their own way, but this one is really close to my heart. I had the pleasure of working with Holly McHugh, who is my guest today, and we are talking about the power. So much more fun. And all of that together drives real success. So we talk about some amazing examples that Holly's seen with her clients and in my own personal experience as well. It's really juicy. And I can't wait to dive into an epic conversation about saying what you mean and asking for what you want.
Speaker 2Thanks. I'm so excited to be here. Thank you for having me.
Speaker 1Ah, and I've, I've just introduced you and, and shared. How we crossed paths, but it's, it's weird how nervous I was this morning going. I can't believe I'm interviewing Holly, who has been my business coach for two years. And I was like, what are you nervous about? This is like a conversation you you're having, but anyway, now I've got goosebumps. So it's so interesting how we can put people on pedestals. And, you know, I've learned in my lifetime that we're all the same and we've met in person and, you know, we all. Are the same, but it's really interesting how in our business world, we can put people up here and down here and I'm just using my hands above and below. So let's dive in. I want to ask you straight away what your mornings look like. And if you have any morning rituals.
Speaker 2Well, I have a three and a six year old and I could just leave it there. Um, but no, my mornings start with basically them, uh, coming into my office. So I'm in my room, um, it's very sweet because we've just, um, introduced a grow clock into their room, which means they're not supposed to come out until it goes yellow. It's blue overnight. And then it goes yellow at 6 45 AM. And it appears to be working quite well because, um, my little ones, it was yellow when she came in this morning, which was very sweet. Um, no, but my morning is very much all about family, you know, um, absolute ritual. I mean, I'm English. I have to start my day with a cup of tea, um, usually more than one. And then, um, yeah, then it's just kind of, uh, setting the intention for the day, getting the girls to school and daycare and whatnot, if it's not school holidays and, um, then mapping out what my biggest focus is. So yeah, that's, that's pretty much how I start my day.
Speaker 1I love the sound of the grow clock. I haven't heard of those.
Speaker 2Genius.
Speaker 1Yeah. So cool. And how do you have your tea?
Speaker 2Oh, it has to be piping hot English breakfast with a teabag left in and more milk than you think necessary.
Speaker 1So does it still look black? It's like it's white. So it's white, white.
Speaker 3Yes. It needs to be strong. Cause I don't want it to be weak, but it needs to be strong and milky.
Speaker 1Okay. And sugar, no sugar. Oh, no sugar. No, no sugar. Nice. And no coffee.
Speaker 2I don't drink coffee. I love the smell. I have never been able to stand the taste. I just find it way too bitter. Um, I thought I don't really need to force myself to like it because I drink enough tea to compensate. Um, but no, I'm definitely not a coffee drinker. I also love chai tea. That's my typical afternoon go-to. It has to be a masala chai, um, no syrupy powdery lattes. Um, yeah, so I'm definitely very English from that perspective.
Speaker 1Oh, chai. Uh, I made my own spice chai mix with a podcast guests in, um, shared her recipe. Lots of pepper. Absolutely delicious. The first mouthful I had though, the first time I made it was like, whoa, that's really peppery. And then almost quite addictive. The spice is just delicious. I need to work out a non caffeinated recipe though, because that's got black tea in it, which I don't have in the afternoon. So yeah, that would be great in the afternoon. Awesome. So. Let's talk about, that was your authentic share of your morning rituals. I want to talk about showing up authentically online and in business because, and, and how that can help you to thrive in your personal life, because I think it's one thing that society certainly hasn't taught us to do well and can be really hard. So what does showing up authentically mean to you?
Speaker 2For me, showing up authentically is literally saying the damn thing, like saying what it is you want to say, um, not saying what you think other people want to hear. Um, it's about showing up as who you are in your true personality, like who are you behind the scenes and that shouldn't be wildly different to who you are when you are representing yourself and your business and showing up in your personal brands. Right. So being authentic is allowing your personality to shine through. You know, if you have a hilarious British sense of humor, for example, then show it, um, you know, what are your, what are you into? Like, what's your style? What's your, um, you know, what's your approach to things and what are you really into and what do you really care about and what do you, um, feel passionately about and allow that to come through as opposed to, um, you know, feeling like we've just got to take certain boxes or constantly quote unquote, add value, um, to an audience because that ends up actually stifling our creativity when our number one focus is I just need to add value as opposed to showing up authentically. So it's a big mix of things for me, but it's really recognizing that it's actually a lot easier to be consistent in our online presence and with our online audience when we're authentic. And it is far more powerful to connect with our audience when we're being authentic. It's so interesting because I have
Speaker 1ebbed and flowed, as you would know, and have witnessed in the being authentic. And it's one of my highest values as well to just show up and speak your truth. And there's this almost juxtaposition, which is that societal stuff and the belief that we're not going to be able to connect with our audience when we're being authentic. And I think that's a really important thing to do. And I think that's a really important thing to connect with our audience when we're being authentic. And I think that's a really important thing to connect with our audience when we're being authentic. And I think that's a really important thing to connect with our audience when we're being authentic. And I think that's a really important thing to connect with our audience when we're being authentic. And I think that's a really important thing to connect with our audience when we're being authentic. And I think that's a really important thing to
Speaker 2connect with our audience when we're being authentic. And I think that's a really important thing to share more openly. And I started sharing my truth. And I started talking about what led me to the point of needing to make changes in my work, which all started from a massive quarter-life crisis that made me very, very ill with stress. I have certain judgments around you, but actually, they're the door openers. And they're the things that really accelerate the rapport and the connection. And I just don't think I'd realized that previously. And that is, one of the most important things that any of us can recognize is that there's power and possibility
Speaker 1in our authenticity. Yes. And from personal experience, I can totally relate to how connected people are when you do share your truth and the right people come along. And why do we tell ourselves, why are there these shoulds? Where do you think that comes from? And you had this amazing awakening and realization once you started to share and you're like, wow, this is incredible. Did that then, when you say that opened the floodgates, did it make it like easy to just keep speaking your truth or was it a bit of this push and pull in the process?
Speaker 2So just start that question. Yeah, I think, I think as with anything new, when we like, coming into new territory, there's still a bit of a push and a pull. Like we're ultimately still, you know, bumping up against our old preconceived ideas of the shoulds, as you referred to, and, you know, what it means to be seen as successful. And I think the online business has actually massively flipped that on its head and personal brand led businesses on its head, because we recognize that what people are actually more interested in is not necessarily just the success and the results, but what you overcame in order to achieve that. And that is the most inspiring gold we can ever share. And the most valuable content we can ever share, because if it reaches someone who right now is still in the sticking points on the trenches that we once were with the exact same fears and challenges and frustrations, and they hear our story and it just literally parts that seed of possibility of someone like me facing all this self-doubt or facing these seemingly impossible circumstances. And I think that's a really good answer. And I think that's a really good answer. And I think that's a really good answer. And I think can actually, you know, achieve their dreams or achieve the point that which, you know, they desire to be at. Um, and there's nothing, I feel like there's nothing of greater service than to offer that to others. The other thing I think is that, you know, at the end of the day, when we hold back from who we really are, especially online for fear of what others think or say, um, or feel in response, you know, all that's really doing is getting the wrong people in the room with you. Um, so, you know, there's, there's a big misunderstanding, um, about what it takes to grow an online business. That is just about how can you build as big an audience as possible and get as many followers as possible. And it means the ball, like it means diddly squat, unless they're the people who are your people, the people who are actually aligned to your way of teaching and speaking and doing and feeling and being, and the right people for you. The people you had in mind when you first created them. Otherwise it's a wild waste of time on everyone's side. And the easiest, most powerful, most direct, rapid way to get the right people in the right room with you who are actually going to be ones who will block into your paid services is to be yourself because we gravitate to the people who we feel are on our wavelength, who we feel understand us, uh, who we can imagine ourselves catching up, you know, as me and Amanda did, we actually met in person for lunch, uh, which was wonderful. And this is also your biggest and most powerful competitive edge. And so many online business owners miss that part. They miss the part that their uniqueness is actually them and their authenticity and their personality. And it's literally the biggest influencer of your audience's buying decision, because let's face it, there's lots of people who do similar things to us these days, you know, the online industry has literally boomed over the last 10 years. And it's very hard to do something that genuinely no one else does in the world anymore. However, it's the way that we do it. And people who are called to work with us, I'm not called to work with us just because we have a certain skillset, but because of who we are and how we deliver, uh, that skillset and, and the experiences that we create inside of our containers. Um, so I just think there's a lot of missed opportunities, uh, that so many people are not tapping into right now.
Speaker 1and authenticity is is literally the door opener to all of them yes yes yes and the author I have this vision I always get these visuals almost like a neon sign or like a big whiteboard when I have these aha moments and authenticity equals human connection and human connection is what it all comes down to and that showing up you know when you show up online to your group and your one-on-ones your mastermind whatever it is it's that excitement that you feel and then your tribe your people are feeling the same way and then there's this beautiful electricity if you like that that comes and and obviously they're the people you want to be calling in and you want to be lit up by your work you know and I I remember the first time I said no to a potential client and I just thought I don't want to show up every week with this person on the other end of the computer and I'm sure that no one listening to this is going to fit that bill but it's true like you have to feel that sense of connection or you say it's a waste of time for everyone concerned if it's not for their higher good it's not for yours either and vice versa so it does come down to authenticity and you know wanting to meet them and have a coffee we did we didn't just have lunch I think we did dinner as well the next day and we went out I went out and met your beautiful youngest daughter as well at the we went to the playground and you showed me the beautiful forest and yeah had a lovely time and I flew all the way from Sydney to Tamworth I'm like I'm going to be in Sydney I may as well go and meet my coach yeah it was amazing ah and super amazing too because you're not there anymore so if I was in Sydney I would have missed that opportunity I'm just like I'm doing this and yeah uh and that was that authentic inner knowing as well that that feeling and the more you tap into it the more you realize what your authentic self is so you showing up time and time again and helping clients with showing up for their in their authentic way can you think of an example and I'm happy to share mine of when you've seen the shift in a client from not not you know from doing the what they think they should to then that holy shit this is amazing yeah so many to be honest I feel like
Speaker 2you know people we're all human right and we all go through the same rites of passage around fear um but the recurring themes of of what we experience especially as an online entrepreneur which let's face it is the biggest personal development roller coaster imaginable um it's going to bring up everything you thought you buried um and so I guess the recurring theme for my clients as well as for myself has been um you know that they they worry about how they're going to be perceived when they show up as themselves and when they say the things that they're really in their heart to say and explain and express and the the shift that um has happened for so many of them the thing that was like the aha where they're like okay get it now is to remember that it's not actually about you it's about the people you know you can help and serve and support with your genius your unique gifts and your brilliance there are people out there right now waiting for exactly what you have to offer who are feeling lost alone confused at a you know sticking point that no one else understands them in the world and the most important thing is that you're not alone you're not alone you're not alone you're not alone and the moment that you can show up and literally whether it's sharing your story or expressing who you truly are or just reflecting the exact loop of thoughts they have in their head right now which is why obviously very powerful messaging can come into this is the moment they're like oh my gosh yeah hallelujah it's not just me and we've all had that experience we've all had that experience and ultimately the one you know when we are feeling stuck or alone in a particularly you know pickly situation of any kind in any era of our life the one thing we want to know is that it's not just us because there's nothing worse than feeling isolated and that we're the only one who hasn't figured this out you know whether that's first time motherhood or that's you know getting your first clients online or you know whether it's navigating a relationship breakup right there's you know what we've got to remember is whatever is personal is also universal and us sharing our personal version of this universal human experience is the thing that then you know creates the catalyst for someone else to take inspired action and you know to bring them you know towards you and i would say that so many of my clients have gone through that experience and then you see the shift in them just owning their brilliance and authority because now it's not you know feeling like it's braggy or it's showing off or it's being polarizing it's it's actually an act of service to connect more of the right people to you know the people that you're talking to and the people that you're talking to and the people the solutions answers and results they seek um and so you know i can think of lots of examples but you know one client um who is uh you know she's a nutritionist and fitness uh personal trainer she sold out a whole retreat in one post and she put it down to her showing up and in her own words speaking my damn truth every day in the lead up to that and so to the point where you know she had such buy-in amongst her audience and her ideal people at the moment she put that paid offer out there they were literally blocking into her dms to snap it up now that doesn't happen just from that one post alone it happens from the energy in which we are serving our audience and how authentically we are um you know showing up within that energy and what we're what we're sharing so um you know there's just incredible um consequences and possibilities that open up when we do this but yeah seeing the shift in clients who really own their truth and their brilliance that their content shifts from what i like into like that warm vanilla slice territory where it's nice and it's comfortable and it's you know it's it's yummy it goes down smoothly but it's not like evoking an emotion in response it's not like making people really kind of sit up and pay attention and and you know it's not holding the mirror up to someone in the way that very kind of authentic authoritative content does to the point where they're like hey you just literally read my mind or did you hack my phone like how is this how so bang on point what's going on for me right now and once they step into that space they notice the shift of um you know them constantly feeling like they're kind of chasing the next client to literally just magnetizing that in into their world into that space and having people unexpectedly show up in their dms and inboxes because it's resonating with such relevance
Speaker 1yes it makes such a difference when you can when you do start tapping into that and like you said initially it does ebb and flow and it's leaning back in and remembering and that's reminding me of the first the first time i really noticed the shift when i had i had when i was working with you then the um fuck achievement and find joy post that i put out and an offer to jump on a 30-minute free fuck achievement and find joy call and you know ended up working with some amazing clients after that who have built an a long-term relationship with and i was so afraid of putting that out because you know i thought people might think oh that's about not achieving and that's not the goal of life like we've got to still be doing things but it was just this um statement that just just came to me like we just have to stop striving all the time and thinking that that's going to be the answer and that's my big message and it was incredible how that resonated so yeah it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it and and using the word f and you know which i use in my general language anyway so i don't know why it feels weird when you put it out online even saying it out loud on the podcast is like oh no i have to say that it's explicit but but that's just just gives it more meaning and it was incredible the response that that had and like you say people go oh wow did she hack me because she's just talking directly to me and i really feel that and and there's no accident that we get these messages coming downloaded so is that how you your work has just evolved over the years and i've noticed you know how much more authentically you show up because you see the results and it's obviously speaking your
Speaker 2truth and walking the talk that's so important yeah and i think it's also recognizing that we're going to evolve like our message is going to evolve because our experiences are constantly evolving right and so we've got to start with where we're at and i guess that would be one thing for anyone kind of sitting there thinking but what do i say what do i do or you know how do i suddenly be more authentic it's just start with what feels good for you to actually share and you know i think clients behind the scenes like because i have um you know in my programs a lot of what clients are bringing for my input and feedback is their messaging you know whether that's the sales page or their website or their offer or their social media and before I even look at it I say so who is it for and what do you actually want to say and they'll tell me in almost perfectly you know clear terms they always know how to articulate it and you know there's energy and there's clarity and there's like zestiness and it's feeling you know juicy and interesting and intriguing and then I go to the copy and I'm like well it doesn't say that nine times out of ten it's not actually saying the thing you're you are expressing right now and so you know I think one of the biggest ahas as well is recognizing that authenticity in terms of our messaging and content online is actually about being more conversational like what are the conversations you're having behind the scenes and and saying it the same way that you would actually say it so this is the thing that feels like there's this disconnect when it comes to writing something again usually because of the hangovers of our corporate backgrounds or you know our education or whatever other clinical environments or formal environments we've been in in the past from a professional capacity but you know it's the conversations that connect and so the more you inject that just into your day-to-day content you know as a starting point already that will have a shift because that's what's reflecting your personality and your values and your sense of humor um and really you know the whole purpose of us showing up online is to give people those bite-sized taster experiences of what it's like behind the scenes to actually be in our energy and our presence and our programs right and what it's like to work with us and the more tidbits of that that we give people more snippets and sneak peeks of that that we give people the easier it is for them to say yes to us because then they get it I get it they get us and they get the you know the message we get what we stand for um they get the value that we offer um and yeah I think that's just again it's one of the quick win opportunities in terms of just
Speaker 1dialing this up for yourself yeah so saying what you mean we've covered the saying what you mean and using story I know you've alluded to sharing your truth and sharing it in story and when you started sharing your story and I know you you have a lot of that in your program as well how to tell story and how to relate that to your audience so that's all the um saying what we mean then how about asking for what we want that is definitely saying what we mean and showing up authentically evolves and is potentially easier in a way than asking for what we want particularly as women and empathic highly sensitive people asking for what we want in our personal life uh may not have always turned out well and then translating that into business life is uh certainly a big hurdle to
Speaker 2overcome so tell me where to begin I love this topic because I actually used to have a whole training resource on how to ask for what you want in a way that gets a yes because this is something that is such a prevalent issue for women in particular um as you just said and I think the one the biggest traps that especially it seems not only so hugely generalized but especially it seems that women fall into is when they approach um an opportunity or something that they desire often they're coming at the conversation from the perspective of asking for a favor you know and the energy already is then not balanced right it's not um you know neutral which is kind of the place from which ideally we're always asking for things we want we want it to kind of be from a neutral place where everyone's kind of on equal footing um and I see this a lot in the online space you know when people are whether they're pitching their offer or asking for opportunities to get more visibility and do partnerships and collaborations it's coming from that point of view of asking for a favor instead of positioning it as what it truly is a win-win invitation and the biggest aha that I learned the hard way in my corporate environment and then also in online business is to recognize that the easiest simplest fastest way to get what you want is to help someone else get what they want so this is the approach and the perspective that you need to come at it from what's in it for them to say yes what's in it for them to click what's in it for them to watch your video what's in it for them to invite you on their podcast what's in it for them to open your email what's in it for them to send you an email what's in it for them to send you an email what's in it for them to send you an email what's in it for them to send you an email what's in it for them um and so on and so forth we've got to start with that intention like how are we a making it relevant to them making it uh meaningful to them but most importantly making it easy for them and this is something that I bang my drum about a lot in my magnetic selling program that's really kind of underpinning the whole purpose of what I teach in that from a biopsychology perspective it's how are you making it easy because most of the time we're actually making it really really hard either because we're just we're just we're just making it really really hard and we're just making it overloading people with tons of information it's this massive rambly warbly ask filled with you know apologetic statements of only if you have time or if it's for you or it's okay if it's not if you can squeeze yeah I'm sorry to bother you um you know I mean I'm British we start every I'm sorry every sentence with sorry you know someone trodden off but sorry your foot's on my foot it might be yeah we always lead with like the apology um um and yeah so you know a we're we're just giving them too much information um that's not making it easy um b we're coming at it all from what's in it for me and then the other person's kind of like well you know maybe you know if I do a favor for you yes or um you know we're not um really leading with the things that we know the other individual or that audience that group of people care about and want the most and when it comes to asking for what we want from an online business success perspective and obviously this is more often they're not going to be related to selling you know if we want more sales and more clients we need to make the opportunity and the invitation an absolute no-brainer for the person that we're sharing it with and that means it's all about what they want not necessarily you know coming from our side of things and you know we know obviously as the experts that we are and we can often spot a mile off from the advantage that we have of a different objective and an outsider view we know what they need but most of the time you know people are not sitting there asking for what they need they're asking for what they want and they buy what they want you know we're living proof of this like you know my husband happily spent over two thousand dollars recently on a robo vacuum you know because what he wants is for the floors to finally be fluff and dust and dirt free without him constantly having to do housework like he's a stay-at-home dad at the moment um so he's um you know experiencing what it is uh to have those types of um you know experiences in the day-to-day and you know it was literally the price was no object because it was so clear what the value was going to be and it was what he wanted um but so much of the time we're trying to sell people what we think is a great opportunity or what we know they need and that's where the mismatch and disconnect is so we've got to lead with the insight that's relevant to that person what are your people saying out loud that they want and is your messaging and your offer reflecting that directly back so it feels like it was a custom fit and when it does that's when it's an easy wholehearted full-bodied yes
Speaker 1i love the robo story i'm thinking oh so what what did he that's what he wanted but what did he need was it a live-in housekeeper that vacuums three times a day uh so so tell me the first step to helping we're helping you find out the the coach find out what their problem is so what they think they need
Speaker 2as opposed to what you know they need yeah i mean there's so many different ways to do this um some of the most powerful arguably is always having conversations with your ideal clients and literally just asking them these questions like you know um what is it you want like what is it you wish could happen what is it you wish you had figured out already um you know what is it that you find yourself thinking feeling saying um because we want to capture the energy but we want to capture the energy but it's also it's the energy behind uh their expression of that and the insight within it as well and that is what is magnetic it's the energy behind the insight when we've so um solidly uh reflected back the very things they're thinking and feeling so it's in the questions that they ask you as well so you know offering people the opportunity to have their biggest burning questions answered on a specific topic and do give a context give some parameters a little bit of a context and then you can do that and then you can do that and then you can do that otherwise it's so broad and it can be hard for people to say, but you know, in the area of eg um uh you know how to navigate divorce what are your biggest burning questions um you know or whatever it might be so give them the topic give them the context and then what are the questions um and see what comes up because when our content when our messaging is answering the biggest questions that are front and center of their mind that's how we are seen as that go-to person um instead of playing again in that vanilla vague space of you know three tips to be happy you know whatever the thing might be like you know they're probably sitting there instead thinking how am i ever going to feel happy again um after a divorce or you know like how am i gonna what am i going to say to them next time i speak to them or what am i going to tell my kids or you know how do i move on from this um you know and and so that you see how already there's a granularity and a specificity of the questions to dialogue into and that is going to have a feel so much more seen heard felt you know and understood versus it playing at this higher level space now right now they might think you know i need to fix something or i need you know i need to know i don't know maybe some of them are like how do i you know avoid divorce or how do i win them back or how do i avoid you know the situation happening in a future relationship and you might know that what they really need is first of all to be able to move on from that and then to be able to move on from that and then to be able and foremost you know self-love and self-care and emotional regulation but they're not thinking i need emotional regulation they're thinking you know i need to feel like good about myself again and i need to feel in control of this situation i need to know how to communicate to all the people that are going to be ringing my phone and asking what's going on right and so that's where you got to meet them at so this is this is how it can just play out with a sort of a concrete example but you know if your content is then saying you know what to say to relevant people and relatives when you're announcing your divorce or how to break it to your kids that you guys are separating or how to feel normal again or like yourself again then you're gonna get on their radar instead of like you know here's the killer nlp tool that's gonna totally change your life for the better um and make you feel happier like they're not there they don't that's not in in the loop in their head so this is this is the thing we've got to enter the conversations that they are having right now and we've got to ask them so you know what is it you you wish you knew what is it that you would be helpful to you right now what is the unanswered question in your head like what are you wondering right now like what would be helpful to you right now what as i said before what would you wish you'd figured out um and they will tell you they know it because they're experiencing it in the moment so so many so many ways but definitely conversations are the most powerful you can and that can be with existing clients that can be on sales calls discovery calls research calls um it can be looking at and paying attention to comment threads that are happening in online communities around certain topics it can be recognizing what people are resonating with the most out of your existing content like what are the things they always respond to when you put that type of content out there what are the questions they say they have voting on polls you know it's easy as fast as way if it's a question that's someone to tell you this is my biggest priority like what's your most pressing need or if i could answer one of these three questions which is the top one for you so there's just there's honestly no i guess excuse really to not know this because we have so many portals and avenues for communication we are so blessed to be living and working at this time and age where we literally with a click of our mouse can like tap into the world and largely for free right the online communities are for free um you know some of the zoom uh packages are for free you know we can dm people for free and so we've just got to actually get ourselves out there and then of course that's not even touching on offline opportunities as well in terms of networking and person interactions which are arguably the most powerful um so yeah multiple multiple opportunities
Speaker 1what i love the most is you know what you talk about is so relevant but the excitement and the passion that you have when you share your brilliance is just epic and i'm so glad that it's come you know fully that was the the most excited you got because you're just like this is my jam this is what i do and uh you do so well so yes that's just bouncing off the screen as as we talk and i listen and you know i i can resonate so much because it's been such a journey for me to to really understand that you know i could nobody wants to hear that building sandcastles on the beach is going to help them feel less stressed about life and you know i know you always talked about people would say i just want them to live their best life and be happy but that is just a like massive umbrella you know that's what a lot of a lot of us do and say and i think that's what i think is really important so i think we have answered the question really well and or the topic both sides how to how to say what you mean and then ask for what you want and and help your client get what they want as well and not just in the business world but in your personal life as well because there's no real separation it's just you know how we are and the more we show up authentically and ask for what we want and and do it in a beautiful authentic way magic happens so holly i know you've got incredible value to offer people and uh an amazing offer too would you like to share that with me and how people can work with you find you follow you

Speaker 2for the audience i think it's really recognizing that you have been all to the work that you're doing for a reason you know this is your gift the thing that comes easily effortlessly naturally to you the things that you think yeah everyone's already knows but they don't and the thing that you have seen firsthand creates life-changing results for other people and it is a wild disservice to hold that back from the world because of you holding back your own authentic expression and ultimately making it harder for the right people to find you and connect with you so i just again really remind you to remember that this is not about you this is about the impact that you can have and the ripple effect that you can have in the world when you put yourself out there um in a bigger bolder braver way and the worst thing that's going to happen is that the people who aren't the right fit for you the ones who don't gel with you are just not going to follow you and actually that is a big blessing make it easy for the right people to connect you

Summary:

She offers listeners an exclusive 50% discount on her "Stop the Scroll" masterclass using the code "amanda" at her website.

FAQs

The Bounce Out of Bed podcast is hosted by Amanda Ewan and is designed for high-achieving women who want to shift from feeling 'meh' to magnificent using a blend of science and spirituality.

Holly McHugh is a sales and messaging strategist who runs a multi six-figure business. She has a decade of experience as a brand strategist, has worked with big names like Unilever and Procter & Gamble, and has helped over a thousand clients across 70 different industries.

Showing up authentically means saying what you truly want to say instead of what you think others want to hear, and allowing your real personality, style, and passions to shine through in your business and personal brand.

Authenticity is the fastest way to attract the right people and build genuine connection. It also acts as your biggest competitive edge because people buy from those they feel aligned with, not just from someone with a certain skillset.

When Holly started sharing her personal story and the challenges that led her to change her work, she found that people connected more deeply. This opened the floodgates for more rapport, connection, and business growth.

The key is to approach it as a win-win invitation rather than asking for a favor. Focus on what's in it for the other person, make it relevant and easy for them to say yes, and avoid apologetic or rambling language.
