How Katie Lost Vicious Battle with Trump's Women

A dramatic power struggle is unfolding within Donald Trump’s inner circle, centered on the appointment of Katie Zachariah as press secretary and the potential ousting of long-serving chief of staff Susie Wiles. Zachariah, chosen quickly and without vetting, made poorly received public appearances, failing to demonstrate competence or confidence. She claimed to be a lawyer and passed the bar, but investigations reveal she failed the California bar exam—raising serious questions about her qualifications. Inside the White House, her appointment was made behind Susie Wiles’s back, sparking immediate backlash. Key figures like Natalie Hart and Sean Hannity amplified criticism through strategic leaks, highlighting her lack of experience and credibility. Susie Wiles, who has endured years of loyalty and political challenges, now faces pressure to be replaced, especially as Trump prepares for the midterms—where past presidents have often dismissed chief of staffs after electoral setbacks. Her daughter’s lobbying business adds further complications, as it implies financial ties to the administration and fuels concern about conflicts of interest. The situation reflects a broader, volatile power dynamic among women in Trump’s orbit, marked by personal attacks, misinformation, and strategic leaks. The White House appears increasingly chaotic, with no clear support for new appointees, and the entire episode underscores the erosion of professional standards and accountability in the administration.

Inside the White House Natalie Hart is briefing against Susie Wiles and she is using the insider Washington D.C. Bulletin. It has the stories you should know and the gossip that you need to know and it is where people place strategically stories about their enemies. So this is strategic leaking absolutely. So just to remind people one of Trump's techniques when he's contemplating something is to call a group of people on his phone and he seeds ideas of people that he might want to hire or fire. Yes and this morning we learned that Natalie Hart printed out that story and took it to Donald Trump and said look at this, look at what they are saying and I think the phrase might be ballistic. Incoming Donald Trump's ballistic temper. Welcome to the Daily Beast podcast. I'm Joanna Coles. I'm here with Hugh Dockety and this is a bit of a topsy-turvy podcast today because in truth we recorded our podcast when some dramatic news broke just as we, well just as we put the podcast to bed. So we're giving this a new top to bring you the news which you may know by now that Katie Zachariah is the fastest running press secretary ever in the history of America. She's half an Anthony Skeramucci. She's half a moot. She's created a new unit of time as Zachariah. Anyway Hugh this broke just as we'd finished recording our podcast and how did it break exactly? I mean people who listen through to the end of the podcast will in fact hear the run up to it because we were both essentially predicting she wasn't going to last. We didn't realize the end was going to come quite as fast as it did. It was incredibly dramatic. Donald Trump came out of the White House to get on Marine One and he stopped at the group of reporters and he was asked what's happening with Katie Zachariah and he said well I just told her honestly do you want to do this? Is this the best thing for you? Maybe you should reconsider. So he. - Short drop. - Short drop. - That was the bombshell. The press must have been going insane because it's been such a wild week. We've already lost him belaygill for else. It's like I don't know it's a mega graveyard. So first of all everybody has seen the press out near Marine One and if you have ever been there in real life it's almost impossible to hear. You can hardly hear and the initial sound quality was not great and so we were watching it going did he really just say that and also he started by saying well we know that he said to her I said to her honestly I don't know if this is worth it and but the sound quality initially was so bad we thought he'd said honey I don't know if this is worth it and we know he calls women honey but in any case said honestly I don't know if this is worth it very quickly as soon as he was off on the helicopter it was clear first of all no sign of Katie Zachariah and then the White House was privately briefing that this was a transition for her and that yes she was no longer press secretary five days a fraction of a scarimucci and even tinier fraction of Elis Truss or anybody watching Britain. Oh yes the head of Leicester. She was the living minister. British Prime Minister who he couldn't outlive his supermarket letters. If you have a herb or a vegetable that you brought home and wasn't didn't last five days you can now compare it to Katie Zachariah. So you asked astonishing. So when they say transition are they finding her something else in the White House or is the assumption that because she has four children because she's based in California because she'd said that she would be moving her whole family over that actually won't be necessary. It does look like her transition is to the departure lounge at dollars right so she's going home. There doesn't appear to be any job on offer. Two things worth seeing she's getting a consolation prize. Oh that's nice. Which is nice. Is it a car? What is a consolation prize? It is five day. It's not even three days stay at the White House right. It's a good question and prepare yourself. Do the envy of this you know you will be envious when I tell you it is dinner tonight with J.D. Vance. I'm speechless. So J.D. Vance appears to have been. And I'm sorry that J.D. Vance had to cancel on you, Joanna. Oh I know. I'm disappointed. J.D. next time. But interesting because J.D. Vance actually has sort of been in the background hasn't he? So is Trump deliberately reaching in and saying oh J.D. you're going to share some of the blame here? It does look a bit like that because yes J.D. had been nowhere near this this mess, this car crash. He had been traveling. He passed no comment on it hadn't really been asked about it. Now there is going to be inevitably we know there's now going to be a picture of Katie Zachariah and J.D. Vance. And there are pictures of Katie Zachariah and of course images everything for Trump. Images everything. Katie Zachariah at podium at the lectern with her you know sort of the blonde and the hair extensions. There are only a couple of pictures of her and Trump together and she's in the background as he went to get on marine one to go to Alaska and then there is that sensational picture of her in marine one with Donald Trump and with Natalie Hart. Those are the only pictures of them together. So getting more pictures out there of her with J.D. Vance I imagine he thinks we'll slightly dilute things. So it does look like there's a bit of image making going on here and a bit of yet drag in J.D. Let's get some more than your hands J.D. So later in the podcast which we recorded earlier ironically we talk about the build up to this and there really was an executioner here in terms of Katie's trajectory. So let's just remind people she goes out and makes her first appearance at the podium, the famous podium in the White House briefing room. She's by all accounts really not very good. Yep. We don't quite know why she's been chosen. We assume several people turn the job down. Michael Wolfen says that Trump probably just had a picture of blonde women who looked like they could appear on Fox News and went I want her. That's kind of a bad ass view plot isn't it for they go oh yes it's hard you know they're going to rest and it's like oh sorry it's a bit like picking someone out of an identity right isn't it I'll have it was him. It was her. It was her with the hair extensions which doesn't narrow it down when it's the Fox News blonde but she was chosen quickly. Susie Wiles wasn't part of the decision making process. She doesn't appear to have been vetted at all. I think the final blow after a disappointing first press conference was when she was asked well you pick up the story where where the press asked Donald Trump where she passed her bar. Yes and this has been the critical question for her. She had been described by the president himself as an attorney and she'd appeared on Fox News and various other conservative outlets described as an attorney. Donald Trump was asked where was she an attorney then because when he was asked that question on Tuesday everybody's trying to find out where she an attorney we knew where she went to law school at Epidine well was she actually the attorney that she'd been presented as nobody could find any registration any evidence that she was one and he turned to us and said oh look and she said something which is now goes down in history oh it was in China right within the course within the course of a few hours it became very clear that this was a very very weird thing to say and later that and choose the evening the Wall Street Journal broke that she had in fact failed the bar failed the California bar that's not a shameful thing. No not to fail the bar quite a high failure rate because rightly we want the best people representing us. Well and in fact Hillary Clinton failed the bar which I didn't realize until my whole point went out to Paris but failed it and these are you know clearly it's not related straight forwardly related to intellect there's a lot of prep and a lot of work and you have to go and sit it and pass it but she had not and she had not and this is the more important point retaken it. Hillary Clinton retook it, Kamala Harris retook it, those examples are being spewed out there by Republicans and maggot today but they passed it, do you have a junior? How many times did he fail it? He passed it. She never went and she never went and tried it again. So this became inside the White House increasing source of concern that all the coverage was focusing on Katie Zachariah and her dodgy legal put the claims and of course what we now know from sources inside the White House is that Trump had done what he always does and what you and Michael Wolf have discussed endlessly he started phoning people and saying what do you think about Katie? And then by just before midday on Friday he'd walked out what people think about Katie and it wasn't good. The final coup d'agra was delivered by of all people. Sean Hannity. Sean Hannity who is a huge Trump supporter? Absolutely. The Trump supporter at Fox News and I don't mean the others aren't but that is he is the Nipro-Saltra. And also got slightly odd hair like Trump. I don't understand his past being in the middle of the middle it doesn't quite make - I don't understand. - I understand. understand what's going on up here. - So she appeared on Sean Hannity's show on Thursday night. And this is usually like softball. He has a darling Graham, one of the worst senatorial candidates ever on. And he says, how amazing are you and, you know, those sort of, tell us you want your perils of wisdom circulation. - Right, what's the secret of your success? - And he didn't do this at all. On Tuesday night Sean Hannity on a show had said the media mob is coming after her, about dearly question her qualifications. On Thursday night show, he questioned her about her qualifications. She did not have good answers. She did not present herself confidently. She talked about herself. And I think this is the important thing and you and Michael Wolf have so much material to talk about on Saturday. He, he Trump, the light was off him and it was embarrassing and he was telling people I don't, I want to know what's going on. I want to know, I want to know. And then Sean Hannity and then a very brief appearance on Fox and Friends this morning. And again, I show he watches and she was asked, does the president a confidence in you? And she didn't really have a good answer. She said, I am standing here and she was in the White House grounds. And I hope to build the confidence of those around me. - It also sounds like she didn't have any allies. I mean, I know she don't even got on the job over the weekend, but when she gave her interview with Sean Hannity, she basically said, I stepped up here, you know, I wasn't properly briefed or I was brief very late in the day. She made it sound as if the White House was chaotic and she was riding in as a savior to actually help them out, which is not how one can ever present a job like that. - Yeah, exactly. And one of the critical things here is the on the way out the door of Farah Thomason who is down in DC covering this mischugasse, I think is what is a good word for it. Since what's good to say, since Tuesday, but I guess since the weekend when it started, she started to be named as press secretary. Says the on the way out the door, she has been telling people that it was a nasty experience and she is bruised and yeah, she's believing other people, a lot of self-pity going on here. - Well, if you're going to stand up on the podium in life of the president, you need to be fairly tough. - Yes. And the word tough is exactly the word that she used for her experience, that it was a tough experience for her. And the problem is, yes, you have to be tough, you do not have to be the one having the tough experience. - Right, well, Huey will now go back into the podcast that we recorded earlier, some of this material, in fact, we sort of laid the groundwork for what ended up happening. So it'll give you a different perspective. - And they'll talk a lot about Susie Wiles. - Yep. - We've barely mentioned in this section, but is. - Was also behind some of this, absolutely. - And in fact, just before we go, for those watching on YouTube, we've got a picture up right now of how Susie Wiles has been taking the news of those of you listening, she looked pretty happy. And hopefully it doesn't end with violence anyway. We're going to get into it. And I know that as women, we're never supposed to describe catfights among other women. But it's hard to know how else to describe what's going on with the women around Donald Trump. We're going to get into the catfights. We're going to get into Katie Zachariah, the new press secretary. We're going to get into Susie Wiles, who didn't know she was being appointed and may or may not be leaving. We might touch on Elon's new flying car, which I gotta say, I thought it was pretty damn good. Christy Nome is back on the scene. Remember her last scene, flying around in a luxury jet at taxpayer's expense with her friend, Corey Lewandowski, while her husband was roaring through the family's retirement account on only fans so much to get through and Kimberly Gillboyd's nudes. Come on guys, it's Friday. We are going to take you into the weekend with a smile on your face amid the fall of Rome. We are living in the ruins. Hugh, Excellency, where to begin? Can we begin, please, with two words that would never have left my lips when I was editing Cosmopolitan magazine? Catfight. Joanna, I am struggling to even know where to begin with this. I do not want to be accused of sexism. But yes, the women who surround Trump are in, I'm not going to use a sexist term. Case, it gets clipped. They are in a civil war. They're in a blood feud. It is absolutely vicious. And it involves not new characters, but a new dimension to two characters. One is the human printer, Natalie Hart, herself. Who's slightly disappeared for the last couple of years. We haven't talked about her. We had not really a reason to talk about Natalie Hart. She was with Trump everywhere, obviously. She was in the helicopter. She was on the plane. She was in Alaska. She was in Montana. She was panting after his golf cart at one point. She threw herself in the trunk of one of his cars. She's omnipresent. And she is now in a civil war with Susie Wiles. And this is just extraordinary. I know you talked some about some of the developments. When you knew about them yesterday with Michael Wolfe on Inside Trump's head, amazing episode, please check it out. But since then, we have had even more developments. And this is incredible. So I'm just going to say, we have to get inside the mind of people in DC. OK, and just before we go any further, for those who don't follow the news just as myopically as we do. And I think myopic is the right word there. And for people in Australia and England who watch this podcast, and of course, your fan base in Scotland, I was just going to say, you jumped ahead of me. Yes, for anybody in Europe, or anywhere, actually, anywhere, South Africa, we have people listening all over the world. Actually, it's thrilling. And thank you for telling us in the comments when you say where you're from. It's incredibly helpful. We love it. Thank you. Just reminding people, Susie Wiles is the chief of staff to Donald Trump. She's lasted a long time. We remember in his first administration he was get roaring through them. I think it's fair to say, jettisoning them out of the window. But Susie Wiles has been there since the beginning of the second administration as his chief of staff, his female chief of staff, incidentally. And is by all accounts supposed to do a good job in terms of keeping the trains running on time? Absolutely. So Susie Wiles is not a Trumpi figure in a lot of ways. She's a grandmother. She is a churchgoing Episcopalian. That is not the mega event evangelical wing. And yeah, she's been there since day one. And she's survived breast cancer. And she discussed having her treatment, having treatment for breast cancer. So she is not from the Trump world or the Trump world, but she has survived and made history, as you say, as the first female chief of staff and the longest serving Trump chief of staff. But there is no doubt that the wagons are circling around her now or the world. I was good to say that wagons, maybe it's the hyenas. I was going to say the wagons, I think, suggest that she's being protected. Yes, I just realized that was completely the right analogy. Yes, she might not be protected. It's more like, I think we're in a wild beast and hyenas scenario. And Susie Wiles has one of the things that she never really got involved in is what the policies were. She just kicked things happening. We now know, of course, that we're coming up to the midterm elections. And any president who suffers of defeat in the midterms as Donald Trump has indicated he expects Tens to throw the Chief of Staff overboard Raman Manuel, suffered fraud out in the First Obama administration. Carol Rove, George W. Bush's, and Vital, Appendage, was summarily got rid of after similar results for George W. Bush. And then grew a ponytail, right? Well, yeah, I know, right? Well, things. That's what happens to when you've been at Chief of Staff. But now, inside the White House, Natalie Hart is briefing against Susie Wiles, and she is using the insider Washington, DC, Bulletin. Most people in DC every morning read a thing called political playbook. Right. It gets to your inbox around 6am. So when you're waking up, or maybe you're already up in my case, but for most people, it's like, it's there. And it has the stories you should know and the gossip that you need to know. And it is where people place strategically stories about their enemies. So this is strategic leaking. Absolutely. As you discussed with Michael Wolf yesterday, this is where the story surfaced that people that Trump was falling people and saying what do you think about Susie? So just to remind people, one of Trump's techniques when he's contemplating something is to call a group of people on his phone, many of whom are like, oh, good Lord, not again. I can't believe he's calling me cheese. How long am I going to have to be listening to this, man? But he calls them and he seeds ideas of people that he might want to hire or fire. Yes. And that's exactly what he's been doing with Susie Wiles in recent days. And we'll come to what the motives are behind in a second. But playbook, political playbook, went to Donald Trump and asked him for a quote about they said, we know you're phoning people. We know you are phoning around and we know that you're asking about Susie Wiles. And he said, "Total fake news political doesn't care about facts, integrity or honest journalism. It's why I kicked them out of the White House." Susie Wiles is my loyal and longest, longest-serving chief of staff. There is a reason for that. She has been with me since the beginning, is my trusted advisor and has my complete, in all caps, confidence, president Donald G. Trump. Sounds definitive. They printed that on Thursday. And they printed details of how he was boning around and how he'd floated new names and about a replacement chief of staff. Including Stephen Miller, right? Including Stephen Miller, which of course would be for the Democrats. I mean, it's a gift because it elevates Stephen Miller in the national consciousness just when nobody wants to see Stephen Miller. So this story rumbled through DC yesterday. It was an electrifying story. And this morning we learned that Natalie Hart printed out that story and took it to Donald Trump and said, "Look at this. Look at what they are saying." And he went, I think the phrase might be ballistic. It was a full-on freak out when he read it. Would there be any interceptors for that ballistic nature of his temper? Do you think? Well, we know that we're not able to supply them to Ukraine. So that's what the interceptors are. That's why he needs the drone port on the ballroom roof is to prevent people getting at it. When he gets angry, up go the intercept. Right. Exactly. And he had a freak out. He blew up about it. And Susie Wiles and her allies were phoning everybody to try to calm the storm. Now, we have never had such direct insight into the Oval Office and Natalie Hart as this. We always knew that she printed out this crazy, crazy slot from the internet. But this isn't crazy slot. This is very well reported. Clearly, very well reported journalism. And she printed it out. And it's blown the whole situation up. And therefore Susie Wiles is trying to fight back through her intermediaries. And her whole career, I'm good to use it as a very Scottish expression. You mentioned I was Scottish. I guess nobody noticed. In Scotland, we might say that her jacket was in a chugly nail. Good Lord. What say that one more time? Her jacket is in a chugly nail. Chugly nail. What does that mean a wobbly nail? A wobbly nail. A wobbly nail. A jacket is on a wobbly nail. So the whole thing may fall down. Oh, thing might fall down. So where is Susie fighting back? Well, we don't direct. We know that Susie's intermediaries have been burning up the phones and trying to say Susie's job is secure. There is no doubt that there is no question of over this. And of course nobody believes that because they know Trump's been phoneing around. One of the intriguing other aspects of this is that Katie Zachariah, the new press secretary that there is so much to talk about, was appointed behind Susie's back. Susie Wiles knew nothing about Katie Zachariah getting this job. And last night Katie Zachariah went on Sean Hannity's show. Sean Hannity is the Trump whisperer, but he is also known to be close to Susie Wiles. They're both in Florida. Sean Hannity is not from Florida, but they're both Florida figures. They have had a close alliance because of his endless sucking up to Trump and his boosting of Trump on television. And Sean Hannity went after Katie Zachariah. This is a safe space for MAGA. Sean Hannity on Tuesday had been saying Katie Zachariah is the victim of the of the elite liberal media mob. Like how dare they question her credentials? She did an interview with Sean Hannity, guess what he did? He questioned her credentials. So where does it stand at the moment? Do you, I mean Michael Wolfe has always said, my co-host on Inside Trump's head, that Susie Wiles will be out probably after the midterms. As you say, it's not uncommon for presidents when they lose to have the chief of staff be a sacrificial lamb here. So let's assume that that might be what Trump is thinking. Do you think Susie wants to stay? Is she fighting a rear guard action against her own reputation? Or just is she fighting against Natalie Harb? And is the implication by Natalie printing this out and giving it to Trump? The Natalie Harb is actually trying to keep him aware of what people are saying. And it's actually a good thing to do that. Or is she doing it to say you need to get rid of Susie Wiles? Well, because we know that Susie Wiles is concerned about Natalie Harb's relationship with the president. She thinks it's unsuitable. She thinks she's too close. I think that's it exactly. In a normal white house, telling Donald Trump what is being out there about him would be normal, right? Barack Obama, George W. Bush, read what was in the news. They got summaries of it. They got important items shown to them. But this is, this is a pointed weapon. We know that Susie Wiles does not appreciate Natalie Harb. We know that Susie Wiles thinks that the ability of Natalie Harb to present a crazy, crazy slop to him is a problem. We know that when people go behind Susie Wiles back, she goes after them. Mark Wayne Mullen, for example, tried to get a new head. Lance Royer to run ice. To run ice. I'm fascinated by that story because he's only qualifications where he was on Mark Wayne Mullen's security detail and that before that he'd been a highway patrolman. Yes. And Mark Wayne Mullen wanted to appoint him as head of ice, right? Susie Wiles was the way her daughter is wedding. And her daughter, in fact, has a role in this new situation as well. What is kind of fascinating is why is Susie Wiles not just rolling over and saying, "Yeah, I'll probably be going after the midterms." Well, there is good reason you might want to polish your legacy. You might want a professorship at this Kennedy School. And that's how these things have usually gone down. Ram Manuel wanted to be the mayor of Chicago and he got his wish come true. You're doing right, you're doing boards. Yeah, you get board seats. That hasn't happened for a lot of these people. If you roll back through the previous Trump Chiefs of Staff, there's quite a lot that are, you know, they're not doing that great, right? Lance Royer is now history. He is not heading ice. Because Susie thwarted Mark Wynne. So just to be clear, Mark Wynne Mullin went to Donald Trump while Susie was at her daughter's wedding and said, "I've got to candid it for you to head ice. I like him very much. He used to be in my security detail." And Trump said, "Sounds great. Great guy. Great guy. No one's ever seen anything like it. They say that he's going to be appointed. But in fact, Susie Wiles comes back from said daughter's wedding and undoes the whole thing. Now, I'm just going to throw a bit of confusion in here. Guess what Susie Wiles' daughter is called? She is, of course, Katie. There are more Katie's in this story than there are Trumps. It's a lot of Katie's. So Susie's daughter has become a sort of crucial figure in all this. Because Susie's daughter is making money out of the government and out of government relations. She is part of a firm, which Susie Wiles used to be part of, called Continental. And they are, you know, they go around the world selling their idea of like, "Oh, you're getting advice from people who are close to Trump." You're right. Advice about how to deal with the Trump administration and Republicans. So she has a business. And that business has been controversial. So she's the lobbyist. She's, I think she's the consultant lobbyist. She does some communication. but yeah, I mean, I think in ordinary terms, she's a lobbyist, she's not registered as a lobbyist for foreign governments, but in terms of what does it mean? She sets up meetings, she tells people how to do things, yeah, and you know, all these people are essentially selling the idea that they know how the Republican administration works from top to bottom. In recent weeks, there has been a lot of turmoil inside the Trump administration about people allied with it, going to a very obscure place for public spriska, um, part of say that one more time. I'm probably saying it wrong. The Republic of spriska spriska, I believe, um, if you are from that Republic, and I got it wrong, please go in the comments. Um, it sounds adjacent to Russia, is it? Well, Eastern Europe. It's funny, you should say that, yes, because it is part of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and it is the ethnic Serb enclave, and it is incredibly pro-Russian. In fact, it has a proputin regime there, and this proputin regime has brought over advisers from the Trump circle, and we assume paid them a lot of money, and this has leaked. Chris Lasavita, who you will remember we were talking about a few weeks ago. Oh, Chris Lasavita, who sued the Daily Beast. And failed. And failed. Chris Lasavita went to Republic of spriska. I'm kind of getting into saying it now, even if it's wrong. And it was leaked that he was there, and he is supposed to be advising midterm Republicans in this really crucial race. Trump was apparently furious that he was there. This leaked. Then it leaked that Haiti Wiles, the daughter of Susie Wiles, had been there as well. And these leaks are clearly directed at undermining confidence in Susie Wiles, because the thing that Trump, we all know the thing that Trump ate is when he thinks people are stealing is the one that he uses from him, meaning they're making money from proximity to Donald Trump, and he's not getting it. So, who do we think is leaking this information? Well, it's a good question. There are people who are anti Susie Wiles. There are people who want Susie Wiles job. And there are people who want to cause trouble, because causing trouble inside the Trump administration is sometimes a full time role. Chris Lasavita has a long list of enemies. Susie Wiles has a long list of enemies. Mark Wayne Mullin is probably not a big fan. I don't think Mark Wayne Mullin for a second leaked this, but you can see that she's upset people. Which you would inevitably do in that job, because it's such a powerful job. But in Trump world, you are the person that you have to be active in on the front foot and go for revenge. Remember, there have been endless stories about Coriolu and Dousky whispering poison about other people for years. So there's a cast of, you know, it's way more than clue we're talking about here. This isn't murder in the Orient Express. It's like murder on a packed New York subway. But who could be? Right. It could be anybody. And the strategic leaking of Katie Wiles making money. Chris Lasavita making money. Donald Trump phoning round. Donald Trump being furious. This is building up a fire under Susie Wiles. And the problem for Susie Wiles is if Donald Trump fires her, sure she can go and make money, but if Donald Trump fires her and is angry about her making money, that's the business, not in a good position. And it's her daughter's business. It's a family business. She doesn't want to be out of that family business. That's what you want in Maga world. You remember that the Sun and Law also has business before the government. He sells the, was it called the gas station marijuana or whatever it is. Right. So everybody's in, you know, everybody's in the line of fire here. They want to make money out of proximity to the government. There's nothing illegal about that. But if they don't have any proximity to the government, if they have been shamed by Donald Trump, they can't make money. And it doesn't look great. And yeah, they can't get bold seats. And they can't get into that sort of world of the great and good that all their chiefs of staff used to get into. Because people think, well, I don't want to anger Donald Trump by hiring the chief of staff, he got rid of. Yeah, exactly. And, you know, and the great and the good of, you know, the sort of the Harvard and Harvard Kennedy School and, you know, the Hoover institution or institute, I should say, they don't really want associated with people that appear kind of a bit grubby and a bit somewhat in some cases a bit trumpy. And actually, you can see that from the list of names that have been floated as the new Susie Wiles. It's, it's kind of a weird list. You mentioned Stephen Miller. Who's the architect of the immigration policy? Right. An incredibly bad figure for the Republicans to put up if they want anybody to be make them popular. Other people in the mix build pool tea. That's the kind of the short, trumpy mini me. He was acting head of national intelligence and was quickly elbowed as way by Jake late. And he is an enemy of Susie Wiles. We know that he's one of these go behind the scenes and get to Trump at Mar-a-Lago and give him printouts. He's kind of his own mini human printer deeply, deeply problematic figure for lots of Republicans. But another one is Kevin McCarthy. Kevin McCarthy was the speaker of the house. That used to be a rocket ship to sitting on boards or to prison if you were. Obviously, if you were the pedophile Danny Haster. But look at Paul Ryan was the previous Republican speaker. And he sits on boards. He's on the boards of the Fox parent company. He goes around, you know, he's a dab boss. He's in the DC party scene. He goes to the lecture at the Kennedy school. That's that's what it used to be. Kevin McCarthy was Donald Trump's speaker. Our dash unemployed, I'm afraid. He's not got these big jobs and these big abuse out of being a speaker. So he'd be quite up for being the back to being chief of staff. Also in the list, Jake Clayton, the man filleted by Joe and Ossof. When Joe and Ossof said to him, aren't you humiliated that you can't say that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election? It turns out that there is no man more thirstily ambitious than Jake Clayton, who is the director of national intelligence. National intelligence is all about spy craft and gathering intelligence, but Trump just heard the word intelligence. Now, Jake Clayton's in charge of super intelligence. Right. He's in charge of AI. He's basically in charge of getting himself in front of one of those, getting himself in front of a camera and grinning for Trump. He's put his name in or somebody's put his name in. Who could that be, Jake Clayton? But the good news for him would be he'd never have to appear in front of Joe and Ossof because chiefs of staff don't get summoned to Congress very often. So it's kind of a safe space for him. But also, I just point out none of these are women. And Jake Clayton used to run the Southern District of New York. Yes. I mean, it's, I mean, he had the job, I guess, that Rudy Giuliani had. So one shouldn't be surprised that he would end up doing this. Right. And that was also a job done by people like Pete Barara. Right. You know, this was a job of incredible prosecutorial independence. And Jake Clayton, frankly, used it to get on tally. Okay. Well, Katie Zachariah has been on tally a lot. She had her first press conference this week, which I think it's fair to say didn't go as well as she could have hoped. And there was already White House briefing. There was already off the record briefings from the White House about how badly people felt she'd done. She struggled to read it, it appeared. She had one great nugget of news for people, which was like red meat to that crowd in the room, which was they've asked Kimberly Guilful to resign. And then, of course, there was that delicious moment when Donald Trump asks her where she took her bar. Yes. And she mumbles something about China. We know that she lived in China. And of course, she's been rowing back ever since, because it turns out she didn't pass her bar exam. She took it at Papadine University, which is where she did her JD. And now the question is, is she a lawyer? Was she over overstating her qualifications? And she seems obsessed by self-identifying as a lawyer. I mean, every time she's on television, the first thing that falls out of her mouth is as a lawyer. To be able to take information, especially as a lawyer and a former corporate lawyer in China for three years. I mean, I am a lawyer and I'm a rigorous researcher. And I spent the better part of 2020 and 2021 researching this because I lost friends and family. I'd love to see justice. As a lawyer, the procedural steps are absolutely critical to ensure that they get this right. So far, she's had more press about herself than I think Carolyn Levit had in the entire time that she was there. She was also asked on a podcast this week, who she would like to be played by on SNL. And instead of just saying, oh, I'm sure SNL has no interest in me. She leans right in and says, scholarly answer. I mean, seriously, Katie, you've made the story about you. And the one thing Donald Trump doesn't like is when the story becomes about someone else. Caroline Levit machine gunlips never made it about herself for the most, but she may have lied to the hills for Donald Trump, but she didn't steal his publicity. Susie Wiles has never done that. Anybody who tries to do that is in big trouble. And this week has been all about Katie Zachariah. Yes. And Katie Zachariah did another interview this morning on the usually friendly show of Fox and Friends, and in fact, even Fox and Friends had some questions and we can play the clip now. Katie, do you and it's a tough question. Do you think you still have the confidence of the president? I'm standing here and I was able to travel with him through all of the midterm convention, or excuse me the midterm rallies and I hope to be able to build the trust and confidence of everyone around me. That's not a great question to be asked in your first week. Not by the friendly, friendly friends or Fox and Friends. So are they being set up? We know that Susie Wiles didn't even know about Katie Zachariah, right? So are these people being primed to put Katie under a microscope in the hopes that she will leave? I mean, she's got four children and she's already said that she must have dinner with them in the evenings. That's a sacrifice she's not prepared to make. She's got four children. I mean, huge respect that she can do a job like those with four kids under 12. I'm also curious about what she'd been doing up until now. Well, that's an intriguing question. First of all, just to say, is she. Is she being set up tonight? Is she being set up? I mean, why would she do these interviews? Why wouldn't she just say, "I will come back to you later this week. I'm getting my head down. Let's get some wins on the board. Then go out and start talking about yourself." It's very now. She appears to be loving this moment. I mean, it's very hard to know who is advising her here. She says that she speaks to the president. Who else in the White House has her back? We don't know. She doesn't. She doesn't have a depth of experience here. You mentioned Cara and Levitt. Cara and Levitt had been in this Trump world for a very long time. She knew who the people were. Katie Zachariah was on television. And that's basically what she's been doing for the last few years. Right. And she also appeared to throw the White House under the bus by saying that she wasn't prepared, that it was all chaotic, that she'd only interviewed on the Wednesday, I think, last week. Yes. She'd had to rush back to California on Saturday, rushed back to DC on Sunday. She ended up doing the briefing, but she wasn't prepared. I mean, there was a sense in which she was saying, "Hey, this isn't my fault." I turned up and did as best I could, but no one had my back. No one was helping me here. So I don't think she necessarily understood that's what she was doing, but that's what it sounded like. I had a meeting on Friday, was offered the job, flew home to California on Saturday, flew back to Washington on Sunday, was asked to start on Monday, Sean, which is Columbus Day, and so it's a federal holiday, and have a press briefing at 9.30 in the morning on Tuesday. So what I feel is I really stepped up and to the plate to do the press conference, Sean, with very little prep time I received briefing materials in the morning of Tuesday, and I went to deliver all of the great results that President Trump is delivering for the American people. She says that she stepped up. I mean, you've just been given the job of White House press secretary. There ain't no stepping up here. You are just thrilled to be in the room. You have done your prep and you answered more questions. I think she took three minutes of questions. Three. Fourteen minute briefing. Yes. And Sean Hannity went after her and that as well. You only took three questions and you took them from conservative leaning outlets, and she even, she said, oh, well, the daily mail is not really conservative and it's not friendly to conservatives. And we could debate endlessly the politics of the daily mail. It's complicated question. It is conservative friendly. And it asked friendly questions. It asked a bit Kimberly Gilfoil and that allowed her to break news. And it asked about how she, how could she do this job as a mother? And that's not a sexist question in this scenario because her predecessor Caroline levied and left saying, I need to be with my two young children, Katie Zachariah, has talked endlessly about having four young children. So she got very easy questions from the daily mail. She's still complaining about it. Her version of this, you know, Katie's remarkable week, is unsympathetic to those who have to prepare her to go into there. That's not building support among those people in the White House. They were, our Farah Thomas was in that briefing and she could look straight at the team that comes out and sits on this seat beside the podium. And she said, their eyes were on stocks. They looked absolutely gas, a gas at what was going on with this, this Katie Zachariah briefing. They couldn't believe it. And then afterwards people were texting, they were whispering that this was a problem. And those whispers were coming from right inside the White House. Those texts were coming from right inside the White House. She's not got support clearly from her colleagues. And then she's going and talking about that on national television. Her job is to talk about Trump. Her job is not to talk about herself. She's lured into a trap here by Sean Hannity to talk about herself some more. As you said, Joanna, is one thing Trump hates. And that's somebody taking the limelight. So do we think she will last in this job? She has been very accessible to reporters who want to ask about her resume, including whether she worked for a multi-level marketing firm. She did. Whether she had been a bad driver in Los Angeles, he was. And whether she passed the bar, oh, she said that she couldn't hear the question. But these are all about Katie Zachariah. We're talking about Katie's Zachariah. And some people might be watching us and saying you should be talking about the important events of the world. You're right. We should. But that's what's occupying the mind of everybody inside the White House, where they have the nuclear cords. And that's why we're talking about this. Right. And she is the mouthpiece to explain what is going on there. And she appears to be a flawed mouthpiece, someone who's claimed that she was a general counsel. I mean, one of the things on her resume, she was general counsel to Rick Grinnell, a company that he has. Well, she's not really qualified to be a general counsel. I certainly saw a clip of her saying that she doesn't offer legal counsel. She offers legal analysis. And she made a big deal of being involved in overseeing huge contracts for global companies while she was living in China because her husband was working there for a private equity company. But what was she doing? She was analyzing them for companies, but she wasn't giving any advice. It sounds like she's exaggerated her resume, which is the one thing. But it just sounds like the White House didn't do a proper background. She fact says, oh, she wasn't asked about whether she was an attorney or a lawyer because she was going to be the press secretary. Well, sure, the press secretary, and I know you taught to make a wolf about this yesterday, the press secretary being a lawyer is sometimes there have been lawyers who are press secretaries, but not requirement of the job. But this is about the truth about her past. She says that she was general counsel to fix California. Organisation run by Rick Grinnell, this Trump ultra-loyalist who at one point was in charge of Kennedy Center. It's basically election denial that she was doing and she was doing it on national television by saying that she walked for fixed California. Now, the problem is in California, if you say you are the general counsel for in this case, a non-profit, and you are not a lawyer, you're not an attorney, you're not a registered member of the California bar, that's actually criminal offense. It's a minor criminal offense. So you can exaggerate your resume, you know, who hasn't said, well, I was in charge of strategic something or other when they just got teased in, but these are actually verifiably false claims. We also talked about China. She on her LinkedIn, which is, I mean, is LinkedIn true, but it's not, you don't sign a declaration, but the only description that we have from her is that she was an associate in an international practice team at the, I believe it's pronounced shong on a law firm. Big law firm in China, absolutely. Sure. She on law has been inundated with goals, absolutely inundated experience. And the former partner there said that they understood from what she had said, and from this, that she was basically an intern. The term associate did not mean that she was registered as a lawyer in China, clearly, but in the United States, when you hear associate on a law firm, you assume that that is a junior lawyer, but absolutely one who has passed the bar, that's, you know, you think, oh, I'm dealing with an associate, oh, they've passed the bar. This, it was an internship, it was basically the explanation. Analysis, what does that mean? You know, looking at spreadsheets, it's a meaningless term, but she was described on television as an attorney, and the president himself called her an attorney. So that's, well, he clearly didn't know that she hadn't asked the bar. No, he didn't. No idea. But he nobody had asked, so it was a failure of vetting. And by the way, who would normally be in charge of vetting somebody, well, Susie Wiles, Trump didn't go near Susie Wiles to make this appointment. So it shows, first of all, a weakness on the part of Susie Wiles, that she didn't stop it from happening. But it also shows what happens without Susie Wiles, it's kind of like a pretty wild day loose. If it takes Susie Wiles out of this equation and put in any of the people that had their names floated, as I said, Kevin McArthur, the Ardash unemployed, Randy Levine, the president of the New York Yankees, couldn't get through the playoffs. but seems to be able to get a job. Jay Clayton, any of them going to be able to rein in the chaos? Doesn't look like it. Fascinating, well, I'm surprised Natalie Harp's name wasn't in there actually. So, Natalie, we will write that down, email you it, and you can print it out and give it to Donald Trump that Natalie Harp should be the chief of staff. It'll probably happen. You heard it here first. - Yeah, we should do that story. Christy Nome, Christy Nome is back on. - Christy Nome is available, oh my God. Why is her name not in for chief of staff? - Isn't her name possibly because she'd bring Corey Lohan Dowsky with her. - Well, yes. - And we know that the president wasn't best pleased when it turned out she'd spent quarter of a billion dollars on an ad campaign in theory warning illegal immigrants not to come here or people that we're thinking of coming here. But it was supposed to include her and Donald Trump, but really it was just her writing around on a horse with Mount Rushmore in the background. And you know, who wouldn't want that photo of themselves, especially if you've been the governor of South Dakota. What a souvenir. - Exactly. - However true. - I mentioned Kevin McCartney at our show and boy, Christy Nome is British herself Joanna. This is a big development. She is no longer a special envoy to the shield of the Americas. - The shield of the Americas, which appeared to be invented for her, didn't it? What, I mean, what even was it? And what is she doing now? - I've never heard of somebody being filed from a job that was invented for them, but it happened to Christy Nome. - And in record time, right? - In record time. - Right, 'cause it was in war. - But it would be record time however long she held it 'cause it didn't exist before. - Right, fair. Okay, good point. Oh, that's the lawyer in New even though. - So I don't even play one until television. - I know. - She was, we all remember, Christy Nome, Homeland Security Secretary, ICE Barbie, Bimbo Focation, husband. Oh, she was out and they gave her this fake job of special envoy to the shield of the Americas. - Shield of the Americas. - Sounds like Paw Patrol. Might as well have been, it seemed to be a chance for her to go and meet the deputy assistant associate leaders of South American countries and maybe Central American ones as well. - Which sounds fun. - Which kind of sounds funny, yeah. - Who wouldn't want to do that? I would happily take this role as, what could I be? Special associate. - Special associate to the people of the Americas. Anyway, the shield of the Americas initiative allegedly still exists, but Christy Nome, sorry. Is now senior advisor to the deputy secretary of state, Christopher Orlando, senior advisor to the deputy secretary of state. - It's a lot of good. It's a lot of work there. - Especially when you've been the head of your own department. So she's been well and truly demoted. - ICE Barbie is melting. - ICE Barbie is melting and she hasn't appeared in the list of names to be true. She has not possibly because her estranged husband, Brian Nome, is demanding more money in their divorce, which isn't a mess that Donald Trump would want happening in the West Wing. And also he wouldn't want Brian Nome turning up in the West Wing, would he? - Right, I think he probably wouldn't. Anyway, skip over that image. - Another person who's trying to figure out what to do with the rest of their life. Kimberly Gilfoil. - We are just. - Kimberly Gilfoil, who is Katie Zachariere announced. We have asked her to resign. We only do case in the Trump administration. We've talked about Katie. We've talked about another Katie. Nobody's, and we've talked about Christy and now we're on to Kimberly. It's a strange pattern. - It is a strange pattern. It is like Donald Trump's own version of the Kardashians. You know, I'm amazed that he never asked him Kardashian. Who also I think struggled to pass the burden. - Kim Kardashian also failed the bar exam. She's available to the Chief of Staff Donald. - I was going to say, "Oh, oh, you know attorney general." - Yeah, attorney general. - Todd Blanche, that's kind of taking-- - He's not going to give that up. - I think Todd Blanche will hang on to it, but yeah, sure, they could get a whole new season of keeping up with the Kardashians. - Honestly, they could, couldn't they say? - We are keeping up with the kids. - We are keeping up with Kimberly Gilfoil. We had an interview with Eric Dieters, the man who essentially broke the story that she was hustling him for $100,000 to pay off her MX bill as she was going through the confirmation process in the Senate. He was on fire. And if you haven't watched that interview, I talked to him from his home state of Kentucky earlier this week. And he's a bit of a riot, actually. He had lots of details. But he said he was going to sue Kimberly for defaming him and claiming that the texts that he had sent round to various news organizations. Her office had said that they weren't true, that they were, you know, made up. And he's like, no, I'm seeing you for defamation. And he, well, he also was a lawyer got struck off or had his license suspended. And the judge actually who suspended him, I wrote this down because I love this so much. And in fact, I asked him about it and he roared with laughter. Said Dieters practice of law is not governed by constitution, rule of law or procedure. It is anarchy. Anyway, he's not officially a lawyer, but he calls himself the Kentucky outlaw, fascinating interview. I really recommend it. I love talking to him. And it really gives you insight into how MAGA operates. Oh, absolutely. And my favorite line of all from that interview, please go back and watch it. He's got Viking blood, he said. That's right. A Viking blood. I had asked him if he was worried about retribution because this is a group of people that are used to, you know, taking it out on people when they don't like what's happened. He claims that he's gotten rid of a problem for the Trumps, which was Kimberly Gilford. And I don't know. He said, yeah, I'm not scared of anybody. I have Viking blood. I too have Viking blood, oddly. So we had that in common. OK. And I very much hope to attend one of his freedom fests if he does another one because it looked like it would be super fun. Anyway, what is Kimberly going to do now? She's out at the Hellenic Republic Embassy. Yes, she is no longer. We saw the fall of Helen of Troy. Now we've seen the fall of the ambassador to the Hellenic Republic. It's a great tragedy. What will Kimberly Gilford do? Nobody knows. And this is obviously animating a lot of worry inside Trump land because she's got dirt on the Trumps. Well, everybody assumes that she has dirt on the Trumps. It seems like if you were, you know, if you were sharing a bed and a political ideology with Donald Trump Jr. for six years, going to Mar-a-Lago, being at Trump Christmas events, you would assume that she knows things. Now, obviously, we do not know. We should say that through a lawyer, she has denied that she was selling access. She also said that the text messages that Eric Dieter's produced were generated by AI. Unfortunately, nobody has been buying that because it appears that they were not generated by AI. And of course, there was a prescient line in there which said, "Stop papering these. Stop texting me. You are going to cost me my ambassador ship." Yes. Very prescient. Yes. So there's a lot to be said about the potential for Kimberly Gilford. I know Joanna that you were voicing a theory about what she should do. Or that you heard a theory about what she should do. Well, this actually came from one of our comments on YouTube. Someone suggested, well, the obvious thing for her to do is to do a playboy centipold. And I'll just say, this is actually not going to be 100% out of character for Kimberly Gilfoyle. Please explain. She very famously posed for a photograph, spread on a rug with her first husband Gavin Newsom. Not naked. Not naked, no, but definitely provocative. And the former MTV video Jockey Kennedy is now a fox contributor, not regular. And also columnist for the Daily Mail. And she has revealed that Kimberly Gilfoyle, in fact, opened the door to her. She went out. She went round to Kimberly's house. They were going to get an Uber to some dinner together. She opened the door to Kennedy, dressed in, I could say, provocative fashion. And I will just read the description. This is Kennedy describing how Kimberly Gilfoyle opened and saw the door to her. She answered the door in a black push-up corset and thigh-high stockings and part you like what you see. Kimberly Gilfoyle left Fox News. And in fact, there was a payout to members of her team who said that she had sexually harassed them. Kennedy also says that-- She's very predatory, Kimberly, isn't she? She seems very predatory. Yeah, I mean, Eric Detos described there as a broad, which I thought was a fantastic description. She also says that Kimberly would show Kennedy and other members of the team at Fox, pictures of her then man who she called Alexa Luther. So we don't know his real name, but would show his news to them. And there's also an incident in which she's at a fundraising dinner. And I believe this is in 2020. And she says that she would perform, I believe, a lap dance or maybe even a sex act of somebody is willing to give more money. Of course, Michael Wolfe described her in a state of partial unrest on Sean Hannity's private plane. Right, well, there we go. to Roger Ailes' funeral, he says that she turned up and went full basic instincts. Yes. And I'm trying not to think too hard about that, but I don't know. There is certainly a femme fatale aspect to the whole Kimberly Guilfoyle storyline. Well, Kimberly seems to be able to reinvent herself wherever she goes. So perhaps she'll stay in Europe and reinvent herself there. And others have said that what she's really on the lookout for now is some sort of Greek or otherwise European billionaire who can pay off her credit as I guess, but he popped with her spending. I mean, among the other things that came out of her spending was that she had a Mercedes-G wagon. That's this incredibly expensive SUV. I think the Kardashians have them. And it was, I think it cost like $250,000 and she needed somebody to pay for that act. So, Kimberly Guilfoyle, expensive lifestyle, European, and now a regular on the European scene, the South of France, the show, the Paris fashion shows, yeah, maybe she'll stay in Europe, which would be a good place for her to stay as far as the Trumps are concerned because they do not want her back. I wonder who's going to replace her in Greece too. I mean, one just feels, I mean, it's hard to feel for Marco Rubio except that he's there for his big moment, the acropolis behind him is there to declare that he will lead America forward. The best is yet to come. It was basically his best is yet to come speech. And what did he get asked about Kimberly Guilfoyle? And also, as Eric Dieter's pointed out, the first thing Kimberly Guilfoyle did when Marco Rubio arrived was embrace him in an enormous hug. He's the same height, so he was crushed against her voluptuous bomb point. And looked awkward. I thought he looked awkward. I mean, he has to wear his expression, glazed expression, and of course, she stole his thunder. Yes, I think there was, I'm sure there's a Greek myth that is in some way close to because the whole choreography of her rushing to mark when, as you say, he was not different. It was extraordinary. He knew it was going to be on television as did she. So they were both playing it. Interesting. Who's going to replace her? We haven't had names floated, but don't worry. People have been floating their names on Twitter. Go on. I'm a load of Greek Americans, in fact, including somebody was saying John Katz and Matidys, who is. Oh, yeah, he's probably in order. Yeah. Ones supermarket chain in New York is, is it obviously a friend of Trump? I don't think this is a serious thing that he would want it, but it's like, oh, send a Greek American. He's not central casting. It's what I would say, Trump loves central casting. He's not sent. Actually, he's not central casting for an American representative in Greece. Let's put it that way. He does not have the, let me flash up a photo of him and then people will know what he does not have the horned body of a Greek god, I think. I think that's very well put, very well put. It looks like he might right out of the sea with a bunch of grapes, though, and lead you to a wine dinner. Very expensive grapes if you go to a supermarket chain, by the way. Fair, fair. Gustave is so grim as a supermarket. Anyway, who else has been putting forward their name? A load of very, very minor mega figures. None of whom, I think, of any prospect of this, but I just raise it as an intriguing point that when Trump fires some body, this is like Katie's Akiraia, that these kids, you know, Trump didn't get, didn't fire Kara and live it. She resigned, but there was this public vacancy. Kara and Levitt left. There was a void. Katie's Akiraia put herself on television. She got booked on television to go, "I want this job. I want this job." And the same thing's happening here. So it's kind of a weird subplot of the Trump years that, when it's a vacancy, people literally thirst over it in public. It used to be the most discrete thing of what, you know, I'd really like to be ambassador and you write, you know, they would write large checks. And it was all done behind closed doors. And now people with Greek endings to their surname are tweeting, "I could do that job." In the whole Trump season. Absolutely. It's crazy. It's crazy. So, of course, back on home territory, Republicans are frantically scrambling before the midterms. There was a debate in Alaska where we have a very entertaining problem because there are two candidates called Dan Sullivan. So we have Dan Sullivan, who's been the Republican senator in Alaska. He's been challenged by a Democrat called Mary Petola, but he's also being challenged by another Dan Sullivan, who's imposed his initial, middle initial. So it's very confusing. It's very confusing, but can we play a delicious clip from the debate that the current senator had with his challenger, Mary Petola? I asked a moderate question. We weren't supposed to get these questions beforehand. Were we? No, sir. Neither one of you got questions before it. Okay, I'm just watching that. Absolutely not. No, that is absolutely not. I'm preparing to be answered. Thank you. Oh, why would he do that? That's so bad for him. Trump flew out to Alaska this week to help Dan Sullivan. Dan Alask did not help himself with this. No, I mean, I'm still recovering from the idea of like he says, did you get the questions? Did your moderate say like, no, it's so obvious. And then the killer line from Mary Petola paired. Yeah, I was just prepared. This is, I mean, there's two aspects this, right? There's the comedy, the comedy of it. Dan Sullivan, by the way, this guy, he went to Harvard. He's not a native of Alaska, he's actually from the Western suburbs of Cleveland. But he, in Trump terms, he should be central casting. He was the only general of Alaska. He's held, held office there. He married into an Alaskan Republican dynasty. And there we had on stage what appeared to be a rather elderly looking man. He's not even that old. Again, this is something we've talked about this before. Like these Trump central casting guys go on stage. They get completely destroyed, and they look like sort of frunken and old. He's at least 61. You would have said he was 71 in that clip. It's funny. It's also kind of serious because this is, I believe, the book was the paranoid thread or the paranoid strain in American, in American, in American imagination. This sort of paranoia, this obsession that there is a plot against them is a golden thread that goes through MAGA. And it did look like Dan Sullivan actually believed that he was, that the questions had been given out in advance. And many of these debates, you know, that they're not allowed to bring notes. This debate, and the candidates kind of settle the rules between themselves and the moderator. And in this debate, they were allowed to bring notes. So Dan Sullivan must have known that you could bring notes. It didn't look like he had many on that on that lectern himself. And he probably thought he could just sort of wing it. So many, especially white guys think that they're just going to run the debate club when they get up there and they find themselves completely undermined. I do feel seen Joanna. Well, it's, I feel like what a catch up, what a catch up. And Dan Sullivan is clearly in trouble because Trump flew the eight hours it takes to get there and the eight hours to bring back. And when you remind him about it, I just want to do a small note. You said Dan S Sullivan. Yeah, is it Dan J Sullivan? We just saw Dan S Sullivan. Dan S Sullivan is the incumbent senator. Dan J Sullivan is the contender. I just want to get that accurate in case anybody watching in Alaska is wondering which Sullivan to vote for. We don't endorse candidates at the daily beast. But I just don't want you mixing up your solvans. No, he's had to put the S in. Yeah, he did use it before. I mean, it is his middle name. He's Daniel Scott Sullivan. Right. It is his middle name fair enough, but he'd never used it before. He was just Dan Sullivan. Daniel J Sullivan is the new challenger. And just as an amusing aside, another Dan Sullivan is a former mayor up there, a Republican mayor. And he has endorsed Daniel S Sullivan. Very confusing. Everybody, all the Dan S Sullivan, so they should start a Dan Sullivan club. But it would be it would be a busy club. It would be a very busy club. So many Dan S Sullivan's in Alaska. Confusing on the ballot there. It's very confusing on the ballot. But that's democracy. And Daniel J Sullivan, who's challenging him, is a teacher, right? Yes. And also he's also a Republican. And the Republicans, the paranoid tendency, paranoid tendencies, in fact, what I should have said, the paranoid tendency among the Republicans was that he was a democratic plot. And even actually, I'm not. I'm a Republican. And weirdly, he's kind of like a bit of a creepy doppelganger for the other Dan Sullivan. They're both from the Midwest. They're both transplants to Alaska. They're not married to the same woman, aren't they? Luckily not. No, that would be very confusing. There's a Dan Sullivan thrupple going on. It's all too much. It's a very, very tangled, tangled tail up in Alaska. But at least there's no Katie's involved. Huey, thank you so much for bringing us up today. I know we have a morning news meeting, which you have to run. There's a lot of news happening. So we need to spring you for that. And Joanna, I just want to see I know that we will not be in the studio next week because you are going to Los Angeles. I'm going to L.A. to do inside Trump's head live with Michael Wolfe. And with some footage of your preparations, I believe that you're in fact going back you on car because it flies. Oh, if you're listening, you can, if you're listening, you can see we're watching on screen right now. The bizarre spectacle of a car flying in on going up, driving upside down. It was like one of those scale extra. It was. Yeah. And I felt bad timing for them this week with the closing of six flags. Or, you know, one of the roller coasters. There was a tragic incident. Yeah, terrible incident. Six flags in Georgia. Yeah, kind of an unfortunate visual. Right. The first thing I thought of was, oh goodness, this is a bit like six flags. But Elon Musk who's been in the drug house obviously since giving so much money to the Republicans, 300 million for 2024. Another 300 million for the midterms. But reminded us that this is what he should be doing. He should be inventing things. He should be meddling in people's politics. We both know from the UK how damaging his interventions have been there. In fact, I've been talking about trying to ban him in some way. And here you suddenly saw why, you know, the man has a super inventive brain. Well, it was certainly, I mean, it looks, it did look, as you say, like, Skeletrics or Hot Wheels. Or I was reminded of Cedar Point in Ohio for you to go round around on the roller coasters. Oh, you do. Yes. What I thought we would end on the note of saying, go and if you're in Los Angeles, if you're near Los Angeles, if you're nowhere near Los Angeles. Come and join us. Come and join Joanna. Goals and Michael Wolfe. Special live inside Trump's head. I think there are still some tickets available. I don't think there's many. Get in there fast. Yes, please. They are amazing. I've seen them. I've seen your eyes. Well, you see it's like all the time. Well, I suppose. Terra Grande Ballroom October the 20th next Tuesday. Ticketmaster for your ticket. Just tap in inside Trump's head. Or you can go to Beast.pub/ITHlive. And you're on. If you're joining them, there is parking outside. Hugh, great to see you. Thank you, Joanna. Happy weekend. Happy weekends. And if you have been, thank you for joining us. I happy weekend to you to write and tell us what you think about what Katie Zacharage should say about her law background. And what do you think Kimberly-Gilfoil should do next? Is there another government role in her future? Possibly a Russian government? Who knows? Who knows? But give us your ideas. And a big thank you, as always, to our production team, John Romero, Ryan Murray, Heather Pasaro, Rachel Paso, and Neil Rosenhausen. So the good news is we have so many Bee Beast tier members now. There are too many names to read out. And we really appreciate your support.

Summary:

FAQs

Katie Zachariah was appointed behind Susie Wiles's back, suggesting a lack of vetting and internal power struggles. Susie Wiles, as chief of staff, was not involved in the decision-making process, indicating a shift in White House dynamics and potentially a deliberate move to undermine her position.

Katie Zachariah claimed to be a lawyer and had a background in China, but she failed the California bar exam. Reports indicate she misrepresented her legal experience, calling herself a general counsel for a company, when in reality she was an intern. This lack of verified credentials raised serious concerns about her qualifications.

Sean Hannity questioned Katie Zachariah’s qualifications during a media appearance, highlighting her lack of confidence and credibility. His direct scrutiny amplified scrutiny of her credentials and contributed to a broader narrative that questioned her suitability for the role.

Natalie Hart, a high-ranking White House aide, leaked a story about Susie Wiles to Donald Trump, claiming she was being criticized in the media. This strategic leak intensified tensions, as Trump reacted with anger, suggesting an effort to undermine Susie Wiles’s position.

There is strong speculation that Susie Wiles may be replaced after the midterms, as past presidents have removed chief of staffs during political setbacks. Her long tenure and close relationship with Trump make her a likely target if political fortunes shift.

The White House failed to verify Katie Zachariah’s legal credentials, including her bar exam status and her role as general counsel. The president himself referred to her as an attorney without confirmation, and no formal vetting process was conducted, indicating a serious lapse in protocol.
