Herbert, Cousins + Other QBs Available? Albert Breer on Upcoming NFL Trade Deadline. Plus, Wemby’s Intelligence Makes Him Best in the World.

Ryan Russillo discusses the popular social deduction game "Who’s the Bad Guy?" from Barstool Sports, highlighting its engaging, deceptive gameplay and appeal for parties and gatherings. He then shifts focus to a standout performance by Victor Wembanyama, who achieved a rare 52-point, 24-rebound, 8-block night—only the second such performance since 1996—demonstrating elite physicality, intelligence, and defensive awareness. The segment also explores NFL trade rumors, including the Giants’ missed opportunity on Jeffrey Simmons and the Raiders’ deliberate plan to develop Fernando Mendoza, emphasizing long-term team building over immediate gains. Russillo critiques the idea of trading young quarterbacks too early, citing risks of disrupting established systems and referencing past failures. He underscores that teams like the Raiders prioritize player development and offensive cohesion, with Mendoza’s growth being central to their future success. The discussion also touches on the importance of strategic patience in roster decisions, noting that early exposure can backfire despite short-term excitement. Throughout, DraftKings is promoted as a nationwide sports betting platform offering bonus incentives and NBA League Pass access, with a strong emphasis on user accessibility and value.

Watching NBA last night and I was trying to figure out like, all right, I want to do a few minutes on some of this stuff as we were back in action after being no games on Tuesday. And, you know, I had some thoughts. Another nice win by Philadelphia where it just felt like they kind of out-talented Detroit. You know, Detroit's off to this terrific start. But you just have these stretches against Philadelphia. And it's crazy, too. Because there's like some underlying stuff with them. Or I'm like, oh, I expect that to be a little bit better. Or how come this isn't as good, you know? And yet, they'll just have a stretch where you can just feel like the defense is going like, what do I have to prioritize here? And Maxie didn't even have a good game. And they were up big. And we had a couple different games last night where, you know, the OKC Cleveland score looks like it was a close game. And Mitchell basically, I think, has like 12 points in the last minute or something like that. So that's another win for OKC with all their injuries. And back-to-back games against Cleveland. And I felt like this Detroit-Philly game was a little bit like that. Like, Philly was clearly in control. Detroit has a little bit of a late push there. So if you're just looking at the box score the next day, you're like, oh, that was pretty competitive. And it was like, actually, it was pretty clear that Philadelphia looked like the better basketball team. And one thing I'll add on this is that watching LeBron not have to have the ball all the time, even though, look, he was still deferring to Luka, he wants at this stage the last few years to have another player bring the ball up because it's exhausting. So. He'll do it in some spots. But with all of these playmakers and all of these guys that are comfortable with the ball in their hands, the other four players that he's starting with, it allows LeBron this freedom to have even more fun passing. And some of the passes that he's made, he's just so much fun to watch because it's like, I don't really even have to shoot. I can go the whole quarter. I don't have to shoot. I don't have to be on the ball. I don't have to be making all these decisions. But if you swing it to me and then somebody cuts off of it, a little bit more movement with Philadelphia's offense, which makes all the sense in the world because some of this LeBron passing stuff is just so much fun, like I said. All right. But that was all before the main event. And Victor Wemby Yama just basically, you know, I don't know that this is some sort of new statement with his game and the box score and everything he did against Dallas and a win for the Spurs at home because they got up 19 and then it came down to like the last couple of minutes here. But Wemby ends up with if we want to run through this whole thing here, a 52 and 24 night with eight blocks. So he had 29, 15 and five blocks in the first half. That is the first time that's happened for a player with 25, 10 and five blocks or more since they started tracking the play by play stuff in 96, 97. So it's not the first time it's happened since 96, 97. It's the first time that we know that it's happened since started tracking some of this stuff. OK. So he's the first to have 50 points or more, 20 or more rebounds and 10 or more combined blocks and steals the stocks category, which he had last night. That's the first since we'll it's always for some of the really crazy shit. It'll be like not since wilt. And it feels like wilt has like all of these. So this was incredibly special night from Wemby Yama. He got to the free throw line a ton. In the beginning, he actually still isn't really hitting his threes. But what I I noticed with him and I think I think we all understand this is that because he is so big, it's almost like a running back that were six, five. And like it might be incredible, but it's also like a higher center of gravity. And so, you know, it's not the same as having a carry up against the defense as you being off the ball and then trying to get to your spot. But you'll notice against Dallas. And certainly other teams do this. Like I noticed it with Rui at some point, too. But if you have kind of a stout, clearly always going to be a lot shorter than Wemby Yama, but a stout guy like a PJ Washington, where you know that the defensive priority is get into his body more so even off the ball than on the ball. Get into his body and prevent his movement. OK, because if you can meet him 15, 17 feet out, maybe he's tired in this possession or he wants to shoot a three because he can tell he's still. Like wants to shoot threes. You can stop his momentum. And then maybe that's the only chance you have at winning against Wemby. And that's definitely something that the Knicks did. And Cat has that big stout body. And on top of that, he's going to be taller than a lot of the guys are even doing this. So credit to Cat. I know that if you've listened to me before, I think sometimes it's a little overblown and like Cat shut him down. But I also think that it's one up to Wemby to get himself closer to fight. Through that, right, because they're not going to let you tackle the guy. So you're going to have to find a way, like if he meets you. And again, it's just so exhausting playing this game that you're not always going to want to fight through all the contact all the time. But that's kind of being great. Like you've got to figure out a way to fight through some of this stuff. And it's also can we set you up somewhere else? Which I think, again, the Spurs in the finals did an absolutely terrible job. They just were not consistent enough and being like, let's make it easier for him. And I would say so far this year. They're making it easier for him. There is this play that they run. Where we saw it against Minnesota and granted, there was no Gobert, it was Berenger, but it's you're dead if the Spurs get this action and it's really simple, right? Ball handler, like say to the elbow, but out so he's not right at the elbow, you know, maybe he's like in between the three point line and the elbow and women Yama comes up. All right, it's just a real simple pick and roll, but what happens is, is you want the ball handler. To get into the paint, because now the primary defender is stuck going, am I going to be able to get around this screen? It's probably too close to the basket for me to go under. So that means now there's going to be the slight delay on like, can I get back in the play and cut off the ball handler here? And so that means the big is going to have to try to like shade over the ball handler inside of the paint because you just want to give this guy a free run on a screen, especially if you're if you, you know, you're just not going to be there quick enough. You're not going to. Back in the play if you're the defensive player that's being screened and all women Yama has to do is because he's so much deeper to start this play is then turn around behind the defender that was on him that shading over the ball handler on the drive and it's just an alley-oop and they did it a million times against Minnesota and they did it numerous times last night against the Spurs. And like I said, once you're in this, you're dead. There's not really much. They even brought it up on. They're like, "Legs, what do you do there?" And he's like, "Not really anything." Like you could, have the personnel where there's somebody on the baseline that is coming over maybe you're changing up your defensive assignments where you want your center to always be clean to come over then and help off of maybe a non-shooter in the corner so he comes over baseline to meet women yama at the rim but if women yama is that close on that kind of lob you're going to lose it all the time and then they tried to switch it once and then that was a complete fucking disaster and that's really like it for me with him is that you need to do him favors from time to time because at 7-5 and not fully formed and not you know his he's going to get to that man strength thing north of 26-27 where it's actually going to be a little bit easier for him to set up until he's there he's he's just going to need a little bit more assistance and going we need to set him up in some of these spots i'm not saying this is like the first time they did it against minnesota and this is all new this year but it feels like more of a priority you Just love seeing this on the other side of it defensively i just want to run through some of these things too because you can't be the best player in a league which is where women yama is headed like it's probably already happened i don't know that that's the headline of the podcast or this segment or anything it's not exactly like breaking news here as much as you can think what you think of yokich i certainly am one of those guys that loves him sga um the stuff that luke is doing right now there's just no one that's even close like we haven't really seen anybody like this in a very long time i don't know that we've ever seen anybody like this in a very long time anybody like this that changes up what you want to do on offense because you're so freaked out about them all the time like cooper flag took like three quarters to finally feel comfortable cooper flag who has been tremendous this year i know he hasn't shot it well in the last two games but he has this get downhill off the screen and we're talking about somebody's 610 with all the bounce in the world in a really tight handle and he gets downhill and you're done against the spurs cooper's like getting that look and then doesn't want anything to do with going in there there was one possession where women yama blocked three straight shots and that does something to you as a basketball player like you kind of hate it like some players shut down when they get their shot blocked like they're just not the same it's like having a fastball up and in at your chin and then the rest of the game you're like thrown off and you don't want to lean in on the plate or anything like that so not saying like cooper is a guy that can't respond to adversity or anything but for three quarters that's what it looked like because he's passing up looks off of this thing they've been doing all season long and then he's passing to his teammates in impossible spots like imagine being gafford setting a screen to bring women yama up and then women yama's dropping against cooper flag because he doesn't respect his three-point shot which nobody should right now um so he's dropping cooper has a little bit of space and it's like well this is where you take off and he's like nope not against this guy i don't and then he's passing it to gaffer who's rolling down the other side of the paint and gaffer's like what the fuck you giving me the ball for like this is this is worse than what you're doing and he's like no i'm not going to what you were looking at because i'm closer to him like this this sucks there was so many little smart things here from women yama throughout the entire night and i don't know that you can become the best player in the world without also on top of the physical gifts whether it's shooting whether it's dunking whether it's passing whether it's the defense you also have to have the intelligence okay like that was one of the first things i ever noticed with steph because we're like is he going to be big enough you know is he going to be athletic enough he's going to be slighted like what's what's going to happen here and then he's going to be like oh my god i'm going to be like okay wait a minute he's going to be the best shooter he's got a top five handle he's an incredible passer and there was stuff from curry very early on where you could see his instincts you're like oh he's also maybe going to be the smartest player in the league on top of everything else that he's that he's showing us here and it was like really eye-opening in those first experiences with steph curry we were like i'm you know i'm sharing my experience but i think we all kind of collectively watched it went okay this is this is going to be really special because on top of those things he sees the game really well it's a stupid small little play that most people like maybe didn't even think it's that big of a deal but it just kind of reminded me of like how wimby sees the game there was a ball it was loose it was up in the air they're on defense and he tips the ball up to himself to gain control and there's one teammate that's in transition that's running up ahead of everybody else most players are like in the chaos trying to find a way to secure the basketball secure it now i'm going to think about everything else that i'm going to do and there's that delay in processing it with wimby yama he tips it up to himself and he's like already aware that hey there's an outlet we're going to get a fast break on this as soon as i corral the basketball so he already knew what he wanted to do before he even had control the basketball you could also say at 7-5 in that reach he knew the ball was going to be his anyway um defensively there's some stuff in the first quarter that i just think it's like really important pointing out so gafford is in the game women yama is on him gafford is like beyond the three-point line like maybe his left foot is on the three-point line right but he's basically set up outside of the break on the three-point line and they want to run something where he gets the ball they're going to do something off of it right so gafford's going to be holding the basketball now women yama meets him he's right in okay now you could say well wait a minute if he's not a threat and then you're defensively like why would you want him out there well whatever they're doing and whatever their rules are they're like we want the ball pressure from women yama on gafford because it's actually going to be so hard for them to get started because that's what gafford is dealing with okay so he's right up against him so i'm like okay that's that's kind of interesting and gafford's having like an impossible time with it very shortly after that cooper comes down on a ball screen and it switches into a ball screen and it switches into a ball screen and it switches into a ball screen into women yama where he's like all right scooper flag is not making any three-pointers yet i'm not going to go out and show and contest on any of this because again they're trying to pull me away from the paint and he just hangs back and then there's a cut off of him and because he knows that he could ignore cooper he's immediately back in the play disrupting something else there are plays like this all night long based on how the personnel is aligned you know who he's assigned to whatever rules there are he's like getting it right every fucking time and he also because of his size he recovers back into a contest unlike anything that we've ever seen so look none of this is necessarily new the box score is incredible they pull out the win plus 22 with them i think minus 23 without them you um that may be backwards but you get the point yeah plus 23 with him minus 22 without him but he is to be like the guy that has the belt to be the best player in the world you can see that he is locked in every possession knowing what he has to prioritize defensively we'll be right back after a quick word from our sponsors the stella blue coffee golden mug giveaway is back and eight lucky winners you next time on the stella blue coffee.com. and of course the brewer report on youtube so trade deadlines next tuesday let's run through a bunch of stuff there's some awesome news and notes that you've had i was checking out some of the clips market wise like what feels like is the next move here yeah i mean i think most people are like circling the colts because of you know obviously their actions the firing of the general manager chris ballard and then trading quentin nelson to forrest buckner so uh you know certainly i i think they're in play and so i'm going to see you next time on the stella blue coffee.com so you know josh downs grover stewart um you know potentially jonathan taylor now i was told they need to be blown out of the water what does that mean maybe a christian mccaffrey type of package um but certainly like the colts are one that people are are looking at and then you know i think there are a couple of other teams where you know you kind of see where they're where they are and you know people have gone fishing so the titans are one you know calvin ridley um is you know i i think kind of a distressed asset there um now do they want to take away from their young quarterback he's not doing a ton for them and carnell tate's kind of become the number one guy already so you know he'd be one tony pollard um the price i think on him would be a little higher like maybe they'd be looking for like a four for him and it seems like a lot you know to to get a guy on a contract here in mid-season um but they'll at least listen to him you know the eagles are interesting um with the one-year guys they've had in the last couple of years and they have wallen hollywood um you know dallas goddard um moro jomo's in the contract here he's elicited of interest um but that's you know like that's somebody they they've at least told teams that they're going to try to keep past this year now i mean they've got jordan davis and jalen carter signed so that seems like i don't know if that's that believable and then you can kind of go down the car chargers have said no on everything so you know we'll see if their tune changes if they lose on sunday the cardinals with josh sweat um you know the jets have gotten calls on will mcdonald and breeze hall and for right now they've said no because they want to give aaron glenn and his staff a chance so um you know there's a lot of it's sort of what it always is ryan is like this time of year there's a ton of calls and a ton of discussion and um you know usually it's it's a relatively small percentage of those things that result in trades let's stay on the herbert one i know it's sexy but i just think the most sane way to look at this is yeah it's a disastrous year they know who he's been mm-hmm at the start of his career and you know we could make some excuses but he also looks broken right now but an organization doesn't trade somebody like this they and so i don't i don't even really know how much we need to spend time on i know you even have a clip on it i think it was like the best performing clip that you would have of the week because it's like herbert traded so everybody like clicks on it going i was actually saying they're not trading right i could i was looking i was like well that one blew up um is is there anything more than just common sense and understanding why he would not be available i mean i compared it to the jeffrey simmons thing we can get into the simmons thing but you know i like i think the mistake a lot of people making these a lot of teams making these situations as they call and say are you interested in moving a guy they don't make an offer and like they don't think about the other team's perspective where it's like well if i tell you what it would cost then you know are you gonna go tell five people that oh yeah like they're open to it you know so they can't do that so could somebody come in and just offer the moon and the stars they could i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't think the chargers would be moved by that to me like the interesting thing about the chargers and this like is just talking to other coaches the scheme marriage between jim harbaugh and mike mcdaniel i don't need to tell you that hasn't worked um but when i'm talking to people who are paid to evaluate this who can see this at a different level than you or i right they say like a lot of the stuff they're doing offensively almost doesn't make sense at this point and they've invested so much in the run game there right and drafting joe walt and then omari and hampton and you know paying rashaun slater and trying to build what jim harbaugh's had pretty much everywhere he's gone you know and now you know you go to bringing in a new offensive coordinator who you know has the philosophy of of of building a foundation in the run game the same way jim does but goes about it a much different way and just for one reason or another the whole thing is there's like a disconnect with it so like i i think there's an acknowledgement there that i think there's a disconnect with it and i think there's a justin herbert carried them last year and now he's in this sort of like borderline impossible situation and he's getting hit a lot and so i don't know that this is the time when you detach from him but it is the time when the buzzards might start to circle and say like well what if we threw you three first round picks so i guess you never say never but you know i don't think the charges are of any mind to even think about moving justin herbert and i would say this too like i know a lot of people are critical of herbert you and i've said this a bunch of different places the way people in the league talk about herbert reminds me a lot of the way that people talked about matthew stafford in detroit like like the people who know or like there's a lot better player there than people people are giving them credit for yeah that makes sense um because i know how bad it looks but uh there's just too many people that do this for a living not to say that people can't be wrong but i mean there's times remember when jimmy johnson like two years ago was like if you could have any quarterback and he's like oh i would take herbert and he's like oh i would take herbert and he's like oh i would take herbert and we were all like what you know i mean that was with my homes like look it still was an insane answer but that's how revered his talent is um so it just doesn't make any sense at that age to go hey 26 is terrible so let's completely change what we're doing here all right so you mentioned jeffrey simmons and how that played out because you had a really interesting piece of news on john harbaugh who had reached out and apparently had told reporters which also adds to like kind of how frustrating the sole process can be you mentioned jeffrey simmons and how that played out because you had a really interesting he said he left a voicemail for the owner that she never returned his call when he called on simmons yeah and so like that was you know it's interesting because like when i when i was doing my story and how the whole thing went down last week it kind of came like it was really sensitive like you know between you and i like type of stuff and then you know eventually it gets out like i i think the reason it was so sensitive um on the front end was because i think the titans felt like like what are you doing dude you know what i mean like think about it this way right so joe shane and mike borghansi talked the two general managers and borghansi basically tells him like no you know simmons isn't available right like so then to have john harbaugh call the titans owner you can see why the titans be like well what are you doing you know what i mean like are you trying to go to some sort of appeals court here you know by the way i remember when i worked with steve phillips he used to tell me that if he couldn't get any action with the other gm that he's trying to make a deal with he would then go to fred wilpon and be like hey call the owner right like so like owner right they do this stuff all the time yeah so like it sort of depends on how you look at that right like and and and i i really respect how open john was about it like he said like yeah i did it you know and he was like he was very much you know hey i'm going to do everything i can to try to help the team win and this is a great player that was potentially available um you know we could get into the whole idea of like you know like well why don't you keep destra lawrence then but uh but yeah i mean i i think like in in this situation there are a lot of general managers that would be like well like all right so you just went over my head then you know um so what the unwritten rules are whatever you know i think those are seen different ways by different people but clearly here um the giants are one of the teams and there are a handful of them that were in the market for a defensive tackle last week and they weren't going to be stopped at no i think what would have served them better would have been probably joe shane putting something on the table the way that ryan poles actively put something on the table um you know but obviously it wound up going the way that it went okay so let's um let's keep hitting on some of these things so we've covered the charges here we've covered the titans part of this what about brissette now not only losing his job to minshu but being placed as the third player in the league and he's going to be the third player in the league and he's going is the third string quarterback what does that tell you about his availability and is it baltimore to be the third player in the league and he's going to be the third player in the league and he's going to be the third player in the league and he's going to be the third player in the league it is baltimore and i think so like there's some complications um i don't know when this is this is going to post but thursday that they play tonight um so you know i i would expect friday or saturday that he winds up you know with the ravens they they've reworked the contract now so that was one of the complications um and I and I think you know really so there are a couple things here for the Cardinals this takes brings them one step closer to um to playing Carson Beck so you know Gardner Minshew I think we know what he is he's given them a spark obviously in in Dallas on Sunday um they're able to win that game that's that's a big thing for Michael Fleur and his program coming back the way that they did um and so you know now Carson Beck goes from the emergency third quarterback where like you couldn't put them in the game if you wanted to unless the other two guys get hurt to now carson beck can go in whenever um for the ravens you know i i view this as a we can't we have to give jesse mentor a chance in his first year and you know it's a veteran team and if things go poorly with an undrafted rookie free agent quarterback and we don't have another answer like could this become could the could could the environment here kind of go the wrong way over the last couple of months which is what you don't want when you've got a first year head coach and you know you've got a locker room full of headstrong veterans so i think as much as anything else for the ravens this was just it's no one's under the illusion they're gonna win the super bowl after lamar goes down right but like can we get somebody in here who can give us a chance to compete week to week which is what joey jacoby brissett does for him and he's also a really good locker room guy which i think helps too brian thomas jacksonville just a strange career arc here his rookie year he's incredible and you're like you know this guy was always really talented 10 touchdowns step back last year and now he's fifth in reception sixth in yards for this group where you go well you'd still think considering it's young and what is on the table for the jags this season like we're talking about a super bowl contending team i don't well i mean maybe it's just the contract part of it of like hey he's been surpassed by other guys so it makes sense for us to control the asset and try to get something out of this if he's not a long-term part of the the future here but at the same time like who do you want to help in in moving on somebody like this yeah so this is like a this is a little bit of a weird one because I don't think anybody denies how talented he is. I don't think he's a great fit for Liam Cohen's offense. And again, that doesn't mean he can't play, but clearly he's been passed there by Parker Washington and Jacoby Myers. And they get Travis Hunter on the field still in spots They've got a couple of rookies that they drafted that they've got high hopes for. down the line so you know they've got the they've got the infrastructure there to move them you know and the flexibility there to move them now why wouldn't they well like my understanding of it is he does bring something to the offense that they don't have and his ability to threaten the defense down the field which isn't great for him but makes him a really effective decoy you know like makes him really because if you have to account for that guy down the field that helps the receivers running underneath that helps the run game that helps you in a lot of different ways so even though he's not getting the ball he's still serving like an important role for them offensively for now and he's also from my understanding a really good soldier like in a weird way it almost be better for him if he was a dick you know what i mean like where it was like like if he was a problem i said yeah we got to get this guy out of here you know but he's a really good guy so it's like well he's not causing a problem and you know he's not causing a problem and he's not causing a problem this is like an important role and we'd be selling low on him now so i i think this is going to boil down to you know does somebody make it worth their while um and like what does that mean does that mean a three like um you know you get him for this year you have him under contract for next year you've got the fifth year option which you'd have to make a decision on in may um the one i kind of like look at with with him is the chiefs because andy's taken on reclamation projects before um you know he's been in the league for a long time and he's been in the league for a long time and he's done it at that position taekwon thornton you know i like was i'm basically in disuse in new england he turned him into an effective player um and if you're the chiefs do you look at it and say you know we're back in a position where we're going to be drafting down low again and it's going to be hard to find a number number one receiver and maybe brian thomas can become that maybe he can't but he did have 1200 yards as a rookie under doug peterson um and obviously doug peterson's background is andy's offense right and he's been in the league for a long time and he's been in the league for a long time right so maybe there's something here you know and so that's the one like if you're putting pieces together and the steelers are looking for receivers the niners have sniffed around a little bit they're getting healthier at receiver now so you know as they get like straddling and evans and debo back like i you know maybe that's less of a need for them but you know of the teams that are kind of looking around for receivers now the chiefs make some sense for me to me if there was somebody who was going to take a bigger swing on brian thomas that would get the jaguars to move okay but the jags would help the chiefs and that's the question right like you got to make it worth their while so the chiefs the jags are looking for defensive line help right so they're looking at edge players they're looking at d tackles um d tackle becomes an even bigger need for them now um so do you have a piece on the interior your defensive line that you feel comfortable moving the chiefs do have some depth there so like maybe there's a play here where they get a draft pick from the chiefs and the chiefs also give them you know a defensive line piece that they can use for their defense right now okay pittsburgh with this start and you know granted you know the division has changed here even with cleveland's record um but obviously baltimore you know if we're all sitting around here looking at the schedule i'd be like hey i think cincinnati's going to go on some kind of run here but does this record does their start sitting there at the three seed right now in the afc does it change their motivation for what they would want to do if anything's even possible the next couple days um yeah i mean like again like i think they're like i i think they're looking for a receiver um now you know i do think that there's a an element of like when you're playing with aaron rogers um you know you're gonna have to get up to speed fast and that's like already become a complex offense that they're running there and so you know would that be a ridley from from from tennessee maybe you can get them for like a six you know and so you're not giving up that much and you're adding a veteran piece and you're trying to have experienced players around aaron um there's such an interesting team i mean like i i i i've had a couple good conversations with a couple other players the last couple weeks about like how open they are and talking about this stuff like you saw this stuff earlier in the year right like where aaron was like kind of in a press conference pushing to play kong and then jalen ramsey at one point said there was a disconnect and like the great thing about like that group is it does feel like like internally there's this kind of like confrontational like no like we're gonna talk about it like it is and we're all adults here because they are older an older team where like they solve problems because they're confrontational with each other you know um i kind of subscribe to that too so i i i do appreciate that approach with it um and then you look at it right like and they've got a scheme that that that is complex on offense but mike and brian angelico and on defense with patrick graham and all these veteran players right like so you know offensively obviously it's dk it's the running backs dowdle and warren it's friar moose you know it's aaron himself pitman when he's healthy um you know and defensively they've got so much veteran experience with you know ramsey and dean and and queen and and watt and high smith and so it's just i think like it's become a really difficult team to play against like for a young team like cleveland like you can get overwhelmed and we saw that on sunday the question for me with them is like are they walking this tightrope you know kind of this narrow path where because they are older are now all of a sudden you get to you know later in november and into december are you going to start to get beat up are you going to start to get the injury bug like because it's not an accident when that happens to older teams you had a note on cleveland look the deshaun part of this was i think in the beginning because he had these unheard of um i think it was like it was the five his first five wins or fourth quarter comebacks and like the other two quarterbacks i think it was like brady and breeze to do what he had done and then you're like okay but how is he playing and this is the part that gets lost in the results it's like he was actually terrible and yeah he can't move anytime he's like flushed out of the pocket you just go this isn't going to be good i think he was leading the league i could double check it again but he was near the top and yards lost to sacks so because the expectations for him were so incredibly low which is understandable and then at the beginning of the year they're winning some games he's got these comebacks and then you're like did you watch this game today like he was he was bad um but it doesn't mean that i'm sitting here like so many of the uh the shador sanders online mafia that seems to think he's fucking joe namath um there's i don't know if there's a solution to this but i think it's going to be a good idea to do that it's on that roster or if they're like football coaches they don't because the game is so different than everything else i don't think they like to say hey we've gotten really lucky for like half a season so we're probably not good let's not do anything i just don't think that's how these i think they look at every season as its own opportunity and you've gotten off to this great start like is there a way because there's so many pieces on this roster i think we all really like like they've crushed it in the draft the last couple years yep is it actually worth them trying to invest a future resource in the league and seeing if they can improve their chances for 26 and you're saying like going and getting like a kirk cousins or asking on a daniel jones or something like that right like i mean i don't even like doing this because we're acting like we're all talking about these teams as if there's like five or six quarterbacks that teams can pluck from and then be like hey we're going to be better now all of a sudden like to me the cousins minnesota thing makes all the sense in the world but we'll get to minnesota a little bit later yeah i don't i like i don't think like if you're cleveland like i i'm not sure i don't think like if you're cleveland like i i'm not sure this is like where i think you see some teams get in over their skis when they got first year coaches it's like you know like there's this excitement that comes with it let's strike when the iron's hot and all that like and you know i think the teams that are successful with this stuff are the ones that are like realistic about it and you know okay like this is our record but this is where we are which is what you were alluding to right like so one of the reasons i think the sean always made more sense for todd munkin than should do or or dylan gabriel or talon green is because they are so young on offense right and so like you know again across the board the rookie receivers concepcion and boston second year tight end and fanon you know rookie rookie left tackle and spencer spencer fano the two you know second year backs and judkins and samson and so like you look across the board and it's do you really want to throw like a first or second year quarterback into that mix so like i don't think it's going to be i think watson's been good for the group and that like he's experienced so much that like it helps when you've got a younger group that like it's not one of their peers that's that's the one calling the play in the huddle and i just you know as as as inconsistent as the sean's been i just don't know that what's out there is is going to be is going to elevate you to a level where it's like oh my god now we're good you know what i mean now we're on another level now we're competing for a and i think they're set up so incredibly like they're in such a position of strength now and you can take the defensive side of the ball with guys like bram and and and and swessinger and in verse two uh and then they have the one the two and the three from the rams over the next three years it's like i if i'm the if i'm the browns i'm staying the course and i'm just saying you know what like you know just sean's inconsistent but he's the veteran voice player and he's the one that's going to be the one that's going to be the one that's going to we need in the huddle you know what potentially is out there isn't that much of an upgrade from what we already have we're good we're going to hold on to our draft picks and and we're going to go forward with this we're going to gonna let the the younger guys grow through it um you know you got to do her this week because because deshaun's in the concussion protocol you see how that goes and you kind of get a free look at him and then you know you turn back around probably go back to deshaun and you ride the rest of the year out yeah it makes sense and i never had an issue with them naming deshaun the starter for everything that you just said and the fact that i was like i just didn't see enough from shador to be like hey right you know well and that's the problem too dude is like it's just i like there are certain people that haven't let go of the fact that he was a fifth round pick like that they still think like that there was some conspiracy to keep him out of the top 10 because he was in a bunch of mock drafts in the fall of 2024 as like the fifth pick in the draft or the sixth pick in the draft or the ninth pick in the draft it's just just never how nfl people saw him you know and like but there's this illusion out there that that's actually what he was the whole time and it just that just wasn't the case you i was more disappointed by the dylan gabriel choice than i was yeah certainly like the shit that one still kind of shocks me for a front office that's it is a little crazy awesome i i will say like that last preseason game he got he looked okay in the preseason like he looks to me like dylan looks to me like the guy who he's gonna play in the league for 10 or 15 years and if he if if if he needs to go in there for a game or two he's fine but once you start to get to like him having to start four or five games you're in trouble i'll be right back after a stella blue coffee canned lattes now available at stella blue coffee.com or subscribe on amazon for 10 off let's talk about minnesota and detroit um first with the way that you framed it i love a good blueprint game i love whenever we can use a blueprint um and nate tyson i talked about it on monday the personnel groupings you know detroit not usually having that many tight ends on the field at the same time they did that kind of junked up what minnesota did a little bit i know you talked to so many people like around the league after a game is over but like what did that win say for you and other people you talked to about going up against what's been you know look statistically we'd say tampa we can say seattle but you know we're not going to say seattle but i think week to week i've been most impressed with this vikings defense yeah so like i think the lions um having you know like having the run game they had makes a huge difference i i don't have the play selection in front of me but i think it was something like 36 to 26 right run to pass um and you know obviously having panacea left tackle having jameer gibbs at tailback like those those things are a huge huge huge part of the equation um and that like the key is staying out of long yardage you know like don't get in second and 13 don't get in third nine like because that's when you're really in trouble um for obvious reasons playing against brian flores's defense the personnel groupings were another big piece of it and you know like they they they put tight ends in the backfield to deal with the the the blitzing linebackers um and and brock um right was on the field with sam laporta a lot on sunday they even used tyler conklin some so you know that was another piece of it that they were going with heavier personnel more consistently and i think the the final count was something like they only played 16 snaps um and 11 personnel with three receivers in the field um the other thing is golf and i and i i think like jared doesn't get enough credit for like how evolved the quarterback he is now you know um he's so far beyond the guy who was you know had mcveigh in his ear until the 15 second cutoff um and there was a great example of it like they and this is like a real inside football stuff but one of the things the lions worked on during the week was the um the the vikings play with their eyes right like they they read out everything those veteran defensive defenders like they play with their eyes and so um the big play to jmo early in the game which was one of the few third and longs that they were in it was like third 13 um so like golf gets the snap he's got an option he's got gibbs going across he's got the option to throw it to gibbs in the flat and he kind of stayed he keeps his eyes on gibbs for an extra second and you watch the safety and the safety takes like two steps up towards gibbs and then golf turns his head back and just puts it right over the safety's head and it's a big play to jameson williams down the field you know and so that's the stuff that's like all right like there's the blueprint like yes heavier personnel run the ball if you can against them but then there's like the stuff that like jared golf's doing where it's like you have a quarterback who can do that to pull it off so is there any chance i mean do you think that minnesota is active in trying to figure out like is there an upgrade to kyler murray right now yeah so i do think like they'd be interested in cousins i just don't think kirk's going to be available um the raiders have been so deliberate and so detailed with their plan for bringing fernando mendoza along which by the way like they think he's going to be a star like they're really happy with where he's at but they're four and four right now and they're going to be a star and they're going to be a star and now the same stuff you know i said about jesse mentor with the importance of the first year in a program like they don't want to send the message to the players and clint kubiak's first year that oh yeah well you know we're really building for 2028 here so like i i think it would take a big offer for them to move off of kirk um and i don't think that that's really part of their plan at all um daniel jones would be an interesting one his contract is actually tradable believe it or not because he got a big signing bonus and his base salary is going to be a lot of money so i think his base salary is relatively low i think it's five or six million dollars and he doesn't have any fully guaranteed money next year so if you look at like daniel jones's deal and he was in minnesota like that would be one you that would be one that if i was kevin o'connell if i'm no one teasily i might pick up the phone and make that call but i think for the vikings it would have to be like one of those types of guys that was there before because this is a moving train now you know otherwise i think they'd be okay um to give kyler a little more leash see where it goes and then if they have to go to carson once but i think more more like the more realistic thing for them right now they are looking at running backs and they are looking at interior offensive and defensive linemen i don't understand the cousins thing everything you said sounds great okay it's fine like hey you know we want to send the right message you want to do those kind of stuff but mendoza will be better next year if he plays this year like i am a firm firm believer that you're a playing guy then yeah yeah i just i don't understand like anything you've ever done why would you get better quicker by not doing it yeah you know like it doesn't make any sense to me it's not just about quarterbacking it's about everything else and so like sure yeah i get like you don't want to throw a guy in there too early and and rattle him i mean everybody references the david carr thing over and over and over again um and i think there's a century ago now yeah right but i i think there's like a lot of first of all every time these teams say that they're going to do it they never do it okay so there's that um and maybe the raiders ended up being the rare exception of like actually carrying out the plan that they had in place but if you there's just so much that you will learn from actually doing it and i think eventually they will i think eventually they will go to him like i just don't think it's i don't i just don't think it's yet like i think eventually huh yeah i don't know i mean i'm not like getting frustrated because i don't really care that much but i'm just like okay it's fine great too that's the other thing he's been awesome he's been awesome i got to give it to him i mean he was i was looking at it the other day and um i couldn't believe it but i was like in passing yards or something like that he's way up there in yardage like which surprises me i think before burrows insane day he was leading the league in touchdowns yeah which i couldn't believe i mean i'll look it up here again right now but the the closing point that i'd want to make on this is like everything you said and if that's what the saying like i totally understand it but at some point he's going to be sitting there with an earpiece watching mendoza and you may have been able to get a nice asset for him in a moment where it's like all this stuff that you were saying probably doesn't really impact the future all that much other than why wouldn't you want to get the asset when you know mendoza at some point should play this year if you want to be better in 27 yeah i i don't disagree you know i just think it's like and again like you know clint kubiak was with sam darnold in two different places right i mean he was there he was he was with clint he was with he was with sam in san francisco he was with sam in seattle so he saw the benefit that sam got and like and he also you know he's close with sam so he dealt with the damage of that um you know he was he was he was in minnesota of course with with cousins before and so you know i like i know the that offense and um the way those things play out it's so detailed and it's we are going to rework your footwork and we're going to to there's a certain way that you have to go through progressions and so much of what they do is so based on detail and i think the concern ryan and the right or wrong right like this might be that this i'm not saying this is like the gospel i'm just saying this is the way that they see it is the worst thing you can do is put a quarterback in there and get him knocked around and then you're like basically unraveling everything that you've spent so much time trying to ingrain in him and i actually think like they're getting close to the point where they're like okay like fernando's fernando's okay to go in there we're not risking that anymore you know but so much that's going to be based on him it's also going to be based on the team around him and like how they feel like and i've said this from the start of the year like part of the decision making on when we put in mendoza is going to be based on can we support him like that's the way the raiders are thinking right like and so is our offensive line good enough are we running the ball well enough we mentioned the yardage number with cousins right that number is high because they haven't run the ball very well you know um so and maybe that's starting to come around with mike washington now running the ball for them you know there's just there's a lot of different factors that go into it and i do think we'll eventually see mendoza um again i wouldn't rule out like the idea like you could trade cousins i just think there's like a lot of kind of complicating factors that would go into that decision and it would have to be something pretty good coming back you're right cousins third and yards he's second touchdowns burrow surpassed him so i was looking at it going into last week i'm like kirk cousins is leading the league touchdowns like that's the other thing is too like nuts things could change on sunday right like what if they get blown out by the niners and what if mendoza goes in and plays like the last half of the fourth quarter looks great but see that's kind of my point is these are the ones yeah like oh all right we got blown out we're four and five like we're probably not making the playoffs so like you know abandoned ship on the original plan and there's a really good chance that like week 12 you're going to be doing it anyway and again i don't know what the i don't know and i think the cousins i do think the raiders i would say that my my my feeling is the raiders are really realistic about that like they know they know they're not i don't say it but like they know they're not a superwoman right now and i'm probably getting a little too worked up about like what would the realistic price be a third or fourth rounder like you're not getting a first i mean if you were would you if you were minnesota would you do a three yes i think i would too i think i would too they're so good on defense they have the weapons i know the running back situation between the thing will push me over the top with it too like for me like is the age of the defense like that like has a little bit of an expiration date you know so it's maybe one of those strikeable irons hot sort of situations i would i would hate to like if i'm a vikings fan i'm like we we are so special over there like we just need average you know and i've yeah i mean we're talking about how the lions got them the lions scored 19 points you know right blueprint here's the blueprint to get to 19 points and also have like kind of the scariest open field running back in the league and like like maybe the most talented group of skilled players in the league with williams and yeah i mean it's like it's like yeah like the lion's really good i don't think it's a bad thing i mean it's a good thing it's a good thing i mean it's a good thing yeah it's a great it's a great reminder because i mean they were still up you know we're sitting here talking about their offense and and that kyler touchdown possession was i was like okay you know like this this looked pretty good and then the three now um looked a lot like the other stuff you brought up will mcdonald's name because i was going through the jets roster the other day because i was just going like hey this is the first time at least based on standings right now with the colts pick with the dallas pick and their own pick it's like it could be three top 10 picks for the first time since the merger you know um but will mcdonald was somebody i used to love like the jets a couple years ago had that front that i was so excited about i was like man it feels like there's all these dudes playing all over clinton williams yeah yeah right and again that's that's not the case now and i was looking at the mcdonald's look i'm not watching necessarily like all of his snaps but what is like what's the thought on him because i imagine yeah why not why wouldn't he if he's available yeah he's drawn interest i don't think that i think for right now like the jets what they've the message that they've given teams is like we want to give aaron glenn a chance and i think and i'm projecting a little bit here but i think the front office is well aware that the owner can have an itchy trigger finger with coaches and is sort of like okay like we need to give aaron glenn and this staff like every shot and we don't need draft picks right now because we've got three first rounders next year and we feel pretty good about the young core that we've got so um for right now it's been a no on will mcdonald um it's been a no on breeze hall um it's been a hell no on garrett willison like i i've gotten like like we're not we're not moving him right he's too good like and he's nasty dude whoever your next front whoever your next quarterback is right like you want to have him there for that right so um i the one thing you can see changing things again and this is one of those like it's stupid because it's one game but if they get blown out an arrowhead does the owner get involved you know does the owner say like yeah well and i'm not saying he's a fire aaron glenn on monday but there's enough like noise there where it's like if things don't go well on sunday and then you know you saw him step in was this two years ago with the davante adams trade right like you remember that like the owner got really involved in the weeds on that one and so like that's the one wild card but for right now like i know their messaging has been very much like we are trying to give our coaching staff every chance to show what they can do as we move forward into what's going to be like a really critical 2027 with those three first round picks and potentially drafting your quarterback of the future michael parsons looked like he'd be coming back at any point i mean this is one of the all-time in-season turnarounds and what this team looked like in the beginning i think we're still always going to worry about their run game i mean they can't run the football i don't think that's going to be solved in the next couple days i don't think they could like hey we can't run all right let's get to work on the trade deadline here and solve all this stuff but there is some stuff happening with them defensively that i feel better about you know there's there's some pieces there even though they lost yeah yeah but the the other young guys and then with micah coming back here are you open to the idea of them challenging you know whether it's the niners um sure i think the seahawks you know it's it's kind of a weird spot with seattle right now so we had a couple losses but go ahead here's the weird thing i thought about this over the last day right so i think you would agree that the nfc east isn't going to get a wild card the nfc south won't get a wild card right okay so we can agree on that right so then you have as i see it seven teams competing for five playoff spots right which is the four teams in the north the bears the lions the packers and the vikings and then in the west the seahawks the niners and the rams two of those five teams two of those seven teams are going to be left out of the playoffs right the other five i think will make it and so it's like kind of this weird thing where uh you know it's like i think like i don't like the vikings got better at quarterback like i think maybe all seven of those teams could be a threat to get to the super bowl and yet two of them are going to be at home when the playoffs start so it's kind of interesting that way the packers i said this about the packers and seahawks last summer and i still felt i still feel this way i said with the with the with the seahawks i like and again i said the same thing about green bay this time as these two teams are very alike in that they've got a lot of very good young players where if those guys elevate and become great players like i think the sky's the limit and i think that happened last year in seattle with jsn with witherspoon with byron murphy with all these guys and i feel this i still feel that way about green bay right they've got a lot of very good players who i think might be becoming great or good players that are becoming very good so evan williams is a guy they've talked about forever now he's playing great at safety they probably have the best safety group in the nfl with him and mckinney um you know brandon c say has like come in and been a real player for them at corner um lucas van ness is finally producing right like and you're starting to see why he was a first round pick davante wyatt is starting to play up to his contract i mean if matthew golden could cure the thing with the drops he would be having an unbelievable year you know so you start to see that you're starting to see those pieces coming together sutton the penn state kid was the other guy yeah yeah i mean like so you're starting to see some of these things and it's like okay like now you re-injected tucker craft into the mix and you're going to re-inject michael parsons into the mix and we'll see what he becomes but those i think were the two guys that were probably great players last year before they got hurt and i wonder if you have to add an offensive line piece if you're them you know i i the running back thing is a little uncertain because of jacob status and everything else like do you have to add an offensive line piece like that would be the one question with them because they have had the injuries and they've had the injuries and they've had the injuries there and everything else and it hasn't looked great you know they're moving jordan morgan over to left tax like all that like it's like the offensive line i think is going to because i feel good about so many other things in that team right now but the offensive to me is going to determine how far they go you had a piece um that talked about caleb williams growth in this third year second year with this ben johnson offense and how that related to josh allen um can you explain that a little bit more because i thought that was super interesting because you know when you actually look at some of the caleb stats like we were talking about cousins and the touchdown stuff like i'm going to do this for the audience but if you went through and you'd be like hey how's caleb williams doing this year well he's been awesome and you know i think there's my favorite thing about him and i've said this like even prior to the draft is that he's already doing the hard things well now he just has to learn how to do the easy things so if you're telling me he does these insane things better than like most guys he's that talented then we should be able to fix the easier stuff that like there's just too many guys that can't do all the high-end shit that he can do can you pair that with the easy wins and you know i was looking at all this different stuff like you would be shocked he has six touchdown passes this year all right so i don't want to put you on the spot here i mean he's he's got less than bow necks he's got less yeah right he's at 24 right now or he's tied at 24 with six passing touchdowns and yes he missed time so that obviously plays in this thing as well but that seattle game when you want to talk about like showing off your franchise the simmons acquisition he starts wrecking the game um really total control that game other than the jsn touchdown at the beginning you know the end of the half just like how do you blow this coverage like how are you looking back there when arguably like the best receiver in the nfl is running past you but looking at that game like you get done i remember turning the tv off i was like this team is maybe the defense isn't going to be good enough that you're going to match up as well you know maybe there's a matchup somewhere they were like or do we really have enough here defensively but it was just it had to be like an awesome moment to be sitting in that bear's box being like the plan is coming together yeah and dominating the team that bowl last year and for caleb to play against that defense in that environment i think that makes you feel really really good you know and so the caleb thing like i this goes back to me to like a conversation i had with brian day ball oh that guy was like seven years ago now um it was when josh allen was young and um you know he told me the story about how he sent he he's he had a cut up of like a hundred plays hundred fifty plays of tom brady's um made for josh and it was tom taking all the easy stuff it was tom taking drags and slants and and flat routes and check downs and all that stuff and the point he tried to make to josh was like listen like this this is what's going to make you a great player like like this isn't who you've been but this is what's going to make you a great quarterback in the nfl and like part of it was like hey look like if if right you can pare it down where you're only needing to make like six to eight spectacular plays a game rather than 20 you're going to be so much more dangerous and that's caleb now like watching you can see it and that's why i think the trajectory of the two is similar right where i i counted it up um i think he had 34 attempts you can look that up might be 35 34 35 attempts somewhere in there on on monday night he only had three scramble plays out of the 34 attempts like that to me is like that that's it it's real growth like he's winning from the pocket now which if you're if you're trying to defend him is terrifying because now it's like we got to defend all the routine stuff and we got to be aware that like he's going to take the routine stuff away from him and from from like he's going to take the routine stuff now and oh by the way like he can still put the cape on you know which is much harder to defend if the guy's trying than if the guy's trying to do that on half the plays you know so um so yeah i think it's i the sky's the limit like i had a couple you know and i did my big quarterback poll at the beginning of the year and pulled over 100 guys and asked them who the five best quarterbacks in the league going to be at the end of the year like i got a lot of like the feedback on caleb was like he's got a chance to be in like the top three by the end of the year and so um it seems like he's trending that way he's played great and i think a huge part of it is that routine stuff enjoyed it as always i know you're gonna have a lot of work to do over the next few days so make sure you check into the mmqb and of course the breer report on youtube this will be all over the trade bring in kyle so rudy is off today but he does have his pick kyle you have service pick correct i do it's it's changed so he's locked in he's locked in i'll just we can just start with that if you want mysterious let's look through some of the this data the trafficking sends me is incredible so all right most bet money line uh that's kansas city against the jets as of right now um the other games if we go i like to go by money so it's chiefs over the jets uh bears minus six against the bucks um packers is the most money line bet game um that's plus three at new england so everybody kind of likes them right now speaking of people that everybody likes josh allen's now plus 165 for mvp uh the most bet team by market in the last week to win the super bowl the bears to win the nfc the bears so everybody watched that seattle game and everyone is thrilled about that caleb williams by the way mvp odds went from plus 1500 to plus 500 so that game made some impressions on people also another interesting one here giants eagles that jumped to a nine point swing um and the total in kansas city and the jets uh that went from 41 and a half to 47 and a half all right the board is yours kyle you can go first this has been um becoming a really depressing segment for me and to the point where i was like happy that i saw we all lost last week but i think i found the rare win-win bet for me here i'm gonna take the packers plus three and a half it's moved from plus three to plus three and a half um and i still will take it i think either way i i end up being kind of a happy dude however this works out so packers plus three and a half um i could just give you steve's right now if you'd like sure no problem uh he told me saints minus two and a half and it is updated to minus three he hasn't answered so he's going to be locked in with that saints minus three all right that's three did he give you any reasoning home versus the browns he did not i think he's busy today it's too busy for an explanation i kind of like that one i kind of like that one maybe he's catching the browns um with shador as the starter just going like hey no one's going to be at home all right i am looking at the public money here right now and i like the dolphins at home the malik to malik combination uh pretty good connection last week in that loss but um i like the dolphins at home plus seven against the detroit lions so the number i have on that is uh over what is it seventy percent of the money almost eighty percent of the money is on the lines with that one so there you go don't like hearing kyle say that we all lost that he enjoyed that i know i didn't like it either man i didn't like it either you're joy you're just justin jefferson on the sideline going give me the ball self-awareness though still still top here for me and i'm not gonna let this happen again so all right sounds good download the draft king sports app and use the code ryan use it today on draft kings all kids i am liquid so now you know what's possible let me tell you what's required life advice the email address is lifeadvicerr at gmail.com all right let's get started Get to it. Uh, hmm. want to do that one or not. All right. Wife hates core friends. Gym stats, 6'2", 235. Could squat right at 400 pounds in high school. Player comp, 06, 07, Luke Walton. A little bit of everything. Most of the time I have to play point center in my men's league. Situation. My wife of seven years hates my core group of friends of over 20 years. I remain close to my core group of over 20 years, even though five of us live in four different time zones. I'm in the east, others are in the Midwest, and then all the way out to the West Coast. I was the first one to get married and everyone was a part of the weddings and vice versa for most of everyone else. This is how close we are. We had a long standing group message that would go on and talk about all kinds of things. Most of it was sports related, talking crap, politics, you name it. Some of the messaging became inappropriate, talking about certain ways. I was the first one to get married. I was the women and how they looked or just sending inappropriate pictures to the group my wife is horrified to see some of what others in the group had been talking about dude what are you doing letting that out first of all first mistake what are what's wrong with you man what did she go looking for or are you just a willing participant and just letting the group chat get out to the public yeah and i feel like oh my god you're gonna see these knockers dave sent me if she's checking your phone these are real if she's checking your phone she's definitely not going to the 20 person group chat you know what i mean like you that's you like not angling your phone the wrong way what do you i don't know i don't know you think many a man has been judged on the group chat i would say there are women out there wives are like who cares boys will be boys right who gives a shit then there's others that have like like we have to talk i want to know is this casey with a k a boy or a girl that's what i want to know in your text messages i don't think they're like the you know boys boys group chat with 15 dudes i don't think like you know if you got only a limited time to check i don't think that's where you're going but that's just like that's my guess the group chat too is like recently i think in connecticut i don't know if it's like i think it's a new thing like they do the they do like the surveillance like policing things you just get a letter in the mail and i kind of feel like that's like a group chat like hey that stuff like this is a free country like we some things like if i get caught you get caught but like i shouldn't be this is a surveillance state we live in i'm not just you're not just checking my messages left and right like that's not really how like this works so i hate that not great yeah all right so um uh let's see my wife was horrified to see what others in the group had been talking about i would not say or send anything inappropriate but i didn't stop my friends from doing it either that's a tough spot that's another one of those kind of male female divide things where you get to tell your buddies hey can you take me out of the group chat or can you not send those things to the great you know the group chat it's probably a great way to get a few more inappropriate messages right on the back end of that right right i had my own personal struggles in the past with a p addiction that came to light that blindsided my wife all right well there's now a backstory as to why she would be a little bit more sensitive to this i have four kids um i wasn't thinking about them with my actions she basically threatened me with a p addiction and i was like oh my god i'm going to basically threaten divorce if i didn't clean up my act and leave the group chat that entailed having an app that basically captures everything i do on my phone dude why are you showing these pictures like that's our lawn guy do you see he's got the he's got the sit down john dear sorry um i don't know yeah got rid of all social media and i've gone to counseling i still converse with each of them individually but obviously this has disrupted how close we used to be as years have progressed everyone has started having kids except for my best friend out in san diego they're finally having a kid and he invited the core group out for a last hurrah boys trip the dilemma is that the weekend he's planned is when my wife when it's my wife's birthday he can't oh man sorry you have an app on your phone that cat like catalogs everything you do that she can see based on previous struggles and you think you're going to a fucking boys trip on your wife's weekend you're not even going to the bowling alley on that weekend dude come on why are you why are you asking us if like it's like a turn i i take back everything i said at the beginning my two oldest have a cheer competition sandwich in between uh this weekend i really haven't seen any of these guys for five years i honestly didn't think it would happen again unless we all came back for a funeral or something not ideal my gut is telling me to forget it but maybe there's something i can offer to make it happen just don't know what it is or could be for reassurance yeah all right so that's why you sent an email you're like i have no chance can these guys come up with anything um it doesn't sound like you have a partner that is going to listen to any kind of pitch whatsoever no but can they also like it's we've done trips we just did a golf trip with the boys like if it was my wife's birthday i'd be like hey that weekend's out i think i feel like that's something that dudes would understand i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know like hey can we just move it to another weekend you gotta send this is not a text now you're out of the group chat so um but yeah that's certainly worth it you can just make one plea to them i wouldn't no i wouldn't let my wife catch a whiff of this that i'm thinking of i'm thinking of leaving on her birthday yeah i wouldn't let her uh she's gonna see this email i can't believe what's happening like we're we're all we're all find a payphone an internet cafe if they're still around but uh yeah yeah i mean make a plea to the the bros and be like listen if this is the last one i really would love to be there you know can we you know put it on the kids like i got i got a huge cheer competition as well as you know just make it like an offer they can't refuse to be like you know it's not even a ridiculous thing to ask it's just it's a yeah yeah are you never allowed to hang out with these guys again like there's plenty of couples where it's like i don't like your friends you're like okay cool we're going to tahoe to golf i'll let them know you won't be there yeah yeah right you don't have to worry about room assignments then do you deb uh this is you You're asking yeah right i mean you guys just nailed it if you're asking us how to get out of it that specific weekend there is no answer you just told us enough about your wife lawyer up you have your own agent that's overseeing all of your activities okay yeah who brought him in his wife maybe i'm watching a little too much lioness um what a great show this kind of reminds me of like the Morgan situation just keep doing because i feel bad i even said it i don't even say anything i got nothing now that was yeah there's nothing it's like saying like it's step not making as many shots you know i don't even want to do that if that conversation happens i won't even do that show all right let's just read another email get me out of here i wish we were just done but i don't think we can do that okay this is one of the worst titles one of the worst titles of an email we've ever received but we're reading it friends smell scaring away the hose oh man not what i needed to hear 6 4 2 15 basketball comp yaxell all right all right all right are you older than everybody else yeah old guy who talks shit he's dude 37 the other night it's a lot to deal with all that nba spacing and just overwhelm drive into other guys like it's not surprising that he's productive already and it's not surprising he's pissed off a lot of the time too which you know what i'd rather that i'd rather you beg for forgiveness of forgiveness than ask for permission um probably not in parenting but maybe with basketball players yeah context right all right so um streaky shooter but could still dunk fairly easily at 29 so i can bully most people in pickup games now i can't believe you had time to write this email that's all i'd be doing my question relates to my college friend for i've known for about 10 years now let's call my friend bob bob's never smelled the best great first sentence but since graduating he's put on a few pounds and it's made the smell almost unbearable to be around outside of our core friend group i've often heard people refer to him as stinky bob that's tough it came to a head this past weekend we went out i noticed multiple groups of girls on the dance floor say oh my god that smells horrible and walk away from my buddy he's never really had a girl and i'm like oh my god that smells horrible and walk away from my buddy he's never really had a girlfriend and i'm worried he never will if he doesn't fix the smell he's a bit stubborn i'm not sure how he would take the unsolicited advice if i said something wondering how you would approach saying something to him he's got a sister that we've met a few times so i thought about reaching out to her say something but i'm not sure he'd care about her opinion thanks for the advice i love that ai is like they they have suggested replies on some of these this is a classic dilemma i'll take a look at it for the pod ryan just yeah send i should start sending those but then they'd go to kyle so i don't think whatever um let me see i mean you guys want to start here i mean i think you can't you can't package the i mean it comes down to what kind of guy stinky bob is right if he's he like does he fuck you at any sort of thing you know what i mean is he like putting up that wall what i wouldn't do is say like you know the part you're concerned about like this is why you've never had a girlfriend and you won't have one unless you fix this that's not good i think you have to say how it's affecting you and make it a you problem instead of like uh i'm trying to help you you got to be like you got to help me man i think that's the only way to like maybe maybe shield it from like calling his whole entire life into question and just be like this thing it's a screw of my shit up i think that's really the only way to that's like the most surface level way to maybe not him have him like put the wall up and get at his feelings right away you're not trying to like change his whole lifestyle or you know like you picked the wrong career you're never going to make money you're basically just like this is not working for me and so i need you to help me i think that's the only way i don't know do you make it about yourself i i i don't know that i i don't know that i think that's the way to go i mean i'd want to know i would you guys want to know i'd want to know yeah if i reeked like it's like tell me i got something my teeth man but the reason i'm saying that is because he's like i don't think he'll care what if i tell him and i don't think he'll care if her sisters tells him like you know is he just like he wears the he wears the clothes you know the same clothes every single day he's not thinking about if anybody saw him in that again like a stinky bob it's like it comes with a couple of things that you're just assuming about someone yeah i think i think maybe it's either a tough if he's like kind of a hard-o in that way it's a tough love thing and just be like i would do this privately too i'm not doing this like in front of people i'm not even about family members this is just like hey dude what's going on like you stink like and like and just be blunt with him if if that's how he can handle it that's like you know your relationship if he's more sensitive i think you kind of ease into it and be like hey you're in there and maybe he kind of gets a hint in his head but i think it depends on what his personality is like if he's like stubborn and like kind of an asshole i think you have to be pretty blunt with him and just tell him like dude you stink and kind of beat him over the head with it but if he's going to get all up in his feelings and be weird about it i think you subtly kind of like work some lines in there maybe a gift here there you know maybe do you buy him a do you buy him a cologne you buy him yeah so cologne's just it's not going to do anything because there's going to be those no i know but it's more of a hint than anything else it's likely a showering issue unless it's like chemicals right it's like whole glands that we're you know we're getting science here hormones it's probably just like dude you didn't wash your you haven't washed your hair in days you're like it's just it's obvious you just walked out of the house come on i don't even want to get onto the you know oral hygiene here like it is there's a chance that it's just like that and it's it's i think it might be a sign of somebody like having a lot going on at home like just too depressing to even like try to fix the first thing here which i would i would stay out of that advice realm but you know if he wants to go out he's probably so used to his own smell he doesn't even understand yeah that's the problem right yeah like i remember there was a guy it wasn't where i worked but he worked in my industry and it was a very long time ago okay so it had nothing to do with espn or anything like that but he was kind of a slob and you knew that he was a slob and somebody had told me what's that guy like they were like dude it was so bad at one point like management had to pull him aside and be like you have to clean yourself better before you show up to work like you smell that bad and of course the guy like lost his mind like couldn't believe it like how dare you you know i smell fine or whatever and it's like most people their defense is going to come first of it of like everybody's ridiculous and like whatever okay um there may be kind of a side door into this though if you were to say like hey how's the dating thing going you know and then he may open up that way and go you know it's actually been a little cold like you know do you want to get married ever like do you ever see yourself starting a family like you know you probably would like to you know most people would like to meet someone so if you're telling us he hasn't dated anybody in a really long time maybe you kind of get into the conversation that way and if he starts to open up about that and talks about like i would like to see somebody and things haven't been working out necessarily and then be like you know what like with women they like confidence you know as you get a little bit older you have to find a way to like be considered a good bet you know you have to bring some shit to the table if you want better options this is all fairly straightforward in whatever the long-term deal is between men and women you know if you're a guy you've got to figure out some shit about yourself that is uh appealing right think of how you would be introduced or how you would be talked about by the woman that you're pursuing how would she talk about you to her friends right so you could talk about yourself to her friends you could talk about yourself to her friends that would say hey maybe it's like a full makeover buddy you know maybe like we're going let's go shower gel like now granted for another guy to do this for one of his guy friends there's not a lot of guys that would actually want to do any of this stuff some guys are listening right now i'm like i'm gonna go to fucking cvs with this dude and buy him stuff but it depends it depends on how much you care you clearly care about your friend you care enough to write the email the whole deal nobody would want to be called this you may not want to start with some of the harsh things but if he's not listening like what is your goal is your goal to be like he needs to be addressed and he needs to be aware um because that really might be all that you can do and if he wants to change maybe he changes or maybe he's not ready to change right or maybe he listens to all this stuff and it doesn't register until two years from now when he hasn't had a fucking date or hasn't had a second date in a really long time so i think that that's probably the best way to go about it unless he comes back to you he's like i love my life i don't want to change a thing he's like all right continue you know proceed as as you were you know what i'm saying so yeah it sucks because you know it sucks that that queer eye show is gone because he's like seems like a prime candidate for this like you know just get the dudes in there and he's getting makeover he's getting new wardrobe uh this is a sugar yeah i think yeah this is how you moisturize yeah look at that uh so that would have been an option with the sugar scrub reference did you watch somebody were you no but you know my wife works for goop so it's just like you know she just gets stuff in the mail all the time and it's just and i'm like what is that and it's like i have my own little queer i think going on where i'm just like oh can i is this for it's before shampoo after what is this oh you leave it in two hours before the shower that's interesting are you sure it's like eucalyptus today there was a rather conservative morning show when i was on the air in boston and uh queer i did like a stop they stopped by like the red socks and like one of the guys took one of the players cups and stuck it over his mouth and nose that was um what the radio guys in the morning were like outraged that they were inviting queer straight guy to the red sox clubhouse so they there's something a conservative show would be outraged about though like they were super bad worried about was that show massive i wasn't totally paying it was it like american idol big like survivor big like oh i don't know about that yeah it wasn't primetime i don't think it was was it on like is this the older one or the newer one i don't know the old one okay see i didn't really watch the old one i was aware of it the new one i've seen my wife watches it you know although there's damn there's a lot of drama going on with that show oh really yeah they like basically one of the guys doesn't talk to the other ones and they were like talking shit behind his back but then he heard it because he like had an earpiece in and he went on to today's show and did this whole thing and then they brought a new guy in and now it's over i think there's 10 seasons it wasn't good the irony is like it's a very you know happy like nice like feel it makes you feel good about the show but it seems like it was an absolute shit show behind the scenes where everybody just hated each other and talk shit which is kind of like life you know yeah so like every other workplace yeah pretty much yeah um all right we're gonna name we had so many name stealers there's a lot of you out there there should be some sort of support group for you i'd like to add some color to the cousin who stole your emailer's name having been through this myself i'd like to give you another perspective i am named after my dad who was uh a great father prominent businessman my brother who's 12 years older than i am named his son my dad's name and my name i believe that the name is yours especially if it's a family name unless you give permission to someone else to use it if my brother and his former wife had just asked me former wife had just asked me i of course would have said yes just common courtesy and a sensitive topic i never had the chance to name my son after me or my dad because they made the decision for me my nephew's now 25 and it's still me i do call him junior and mention that he is my namesake when it comes up i also tell him he was named after me even though he was named after my dad you couldn't just name your kid do you become did he say that he's that he has the same name as his dad but his brother's older than him yeah yeah interesting that's a weird dynamic no yeah who's the who has the rights that's true yeah 82 percent of juniors are the first born son yeah and is that how you become a second is that how you become like steve ceruti the second if you're not the yeah i guess who cares if we're like i don't know but maybe your older brother was trying to like assert some dominance because he's upset that he was never the the names he didn't get them he's the eldest boy i mean he's like i'm taking it yeah i am the eldest boy i am the eldest son yep so i don't know yeah that's 25 years to not be over it that's a that's a bummer dude you know people don't get over things like that you guys can get drunk together now and this can come out like what do you think you've not gotten over the most um man well this is like a family joke my sister when i was like maybe five or six she peed on my batman book and it is like a thing that my family brings up to this day that like i still hold a grudge because like it was one of those ones that you press it and like it makes sounds and stuff it was fucking awesome and peed on it never worked again and i probably made a big deal about it for most of my adolescence and it's just sort of carried over as like a family joke for basically my entire life mine was i couldn't stay home from school like i might the rule was it had to be puke like and i had a there had to be evidence and i remember like one time i flushed it and they were just like sorry dude you know you don't you don't get that grace you're not buying that what the hell and i just felt like this is so unfair but then my sister would get like a headache and they'd be like it's really bad she's not going today uh but you know i probably i i may have earned that but i mean some when you're you know when you're on the wrong end of it you're like come on dude uh you know that one that's tough there's nothing nothing like that win of hey you don't have to go to school today i don't even remember like faking it to get it i may have once or twice but like i had to be really sick like i never got to i had to be dying yeah i had to be actively throwing up yeah like in front of my mom yeah or i was like once and i was like fuck yeah but like you know it was like a bad one but yeah i remember that i do think long term that helps you though i'm like not i'm glad that that was a thing yeah i'd never take a sick day like oh you could always go home like that i kind of feel i don't know what the correlation is but there's got to be a chart somewhere that tells you that person is not being soft i think you're right about that i mean i would always get my mother to be like okay you can stay home and then my i could hear my father coming up the stairs and then he would fucking socks on right i remember one time he was like he opened my mouth was like there's no sign of tonsillitis get dressed and i just i'll never forget it like he held my mouth open and was like yeah looking in there i was like no it's all swollen i think i have tonsillitis he's like there's no sign of tonsillitis get dressed i was sick too i felt like shit stay the whole day the whole day spazzing out i got a fever you better not go to the nurse either when we find out you went to the pink eye was just the trump card the kids at the nurse though are always kind of weirdos though like you don't want to be a kid at the nurse you know no there was always one day i'm talking it The Spurs often ran simple pick-and-roll plays that left Wemby Yama with open lanes, and defenders struggled to contain him due to his size, low center of gravity, and ability to contest shots and recover quickly.
