215. Healing Hidden Strongholds in Marriage

In this episode of the Strong Tower Mental Health Podcast, host Heidi Mortensen explores healing hidden strongholds in marriage. She explains that automatic reactions like anger or bitterness often stem from unhealed personal wounds, such as past hurts or feelings of being unloved, rather than issues with one's spouse. Listeners are guided to recognize triggers, identify patterns, and invite the Holy Spirit into these moments to uncover underlying lies—such as beliefs of being alone or unsupported. The approach emphasizes moving from defensiveness to proactively seeking God's perspective, partnering with His view of one's spouse, and addressing root causes through prayer and self-reflection. Mortensen also advises seeking counseling or journaling for deeper healing, underscoring that freedom comes from renewing the mind with biblical truth and allowing God into painful areas.

In this place of finding the strongholds, I also was able to partner with God to find out what does God think. So for example, I had some different dreams and visions that I had of my husband, where he was really confident. He's a confident guy anyways, but it was more like God-finant. I saw this God-finance in him, and he, I heard that he's a man of peace. So I just started partnering with what God was saying. Welcome to the Strong Tower Mental Health Podcast, where you will be encouraged in Christ, where we discuss mental health freedom through the simplicity of the gospel. In this world, with so much hurt and pain, we need answers to be free and live with who we are in Christ instead of who we are not. Christian should look different from the rest of the world, living with the fruits of the Spirit, growing from the seed of Christ within us. In this podcast, I bring in topics like inner healing, deliverance, counseling, coaching, trauma, healthy relationships, neuroscience, healing, and more. I interview amazing guests with incredible testimonies that will move you into your own freedom, and most importantly, no Jesus more. You will be inspired and encouraged and transformed by what Romans 122 says, the renewing of your mind and not the patterns of this world. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, but what's more important is that I am simply a little girl sitting at the feet of Jesus being curious. This podcast is not a substitute for counseling or psychiatric care. If you are in a crisis, call or text your local crisis center or visit suicide prevention lifeline.org. Come along with me in this journey where Jesus is in our mental health, and freedom is where we live. Hello, and welcome to the Strong Tower Mental Health podcast. I am your host, Heidi Mortensen. Today, we're going to be talking about the hidden strongholds that we have in our marriage and how we can heal them. When anger and bitterness feels just right there and automatic, how can we go into that place of listening? What God, what do you have for us in those moments? How can we be this godly spouse when there's hidden strongholds that we don't even realize that are there? I had a listener that sent me an email requesting that I dive deeper into this topic. Two weeks ago, the episode was on breaking strongholds, and so today, we're going to dive deeper into breaking the strongholds with our marriage. Last week was an amazing episode with Wendy Backland. Make sure to go check that out. And if you haven't checked out the episode on breaking strongholds, that was two weeks ago. But today, we're going to be talking about healing those hidden strongholds that are in our marriage. When bitterness and anger shows up, and it's not how we want to be. So holy spirit, I pray that you help guide this episode. I pray for the listeners to gain what they need, anything that's not from you Lord, they can let that go in Jesus name. I pray for all the marriages, the relationships, those who are listening and watching, for your peace to be upon them. I silence the voice of the enemy and I break off any shame that's wanting to even come up right now as even bringing up this topic. That there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, but we are your little kids who are sitting at your feet. We just want to be like you. And I pray, Holy Spirit, that you guide me to speak what you want me to speak, nothing more than nothing less. We thank you for your honor of being able to be your children in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. I love the topic of strongholds in our marriage because it's something that I've walked in. It is not always fun, but I like the topics that I know we can ask the Holy Spirit to come in and we can see some movement. There can be some traction. So the first thing that I want to encourage you as you're listening me today is I want you to notice and I want you to track where you are, where you're not, and that you can be able to know, okay, let's say things are not okay seven days a week. Well, we can track that. That's a starting point. It feels very negative, but at least that's something that we can look at. This is something that I'll do with my clients where I'll say, well, you know, what percentage of the time are you feeling down? Or how many days do you feel like it's hard to get out of bed? If you start with five, then you know you have somewhere to move towards so even as if you're still struggling, you're struggling less. Does that make sense? And those of you where things are going well, but you want to improve on things, you can have targeted goals on, I want us to be able to have more intimate conversation. Here's my goal. I want us to be able to talk more and have those times together. So as I'm talking, start to think about what are the things that are going on in my marriage? As I dive into this, you're going to be able to allow the Holy Spirit to really just give inventory to that. And I want to, I really want to invite some of you, because I can already send some of you are like, I don't want to talk about this. I want to avoid this topic. It's too hard for me. Just take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to give you the grace to move through this. If it's not the time, that's okay. I'd want to trust the Holy Spirit in that. I don't ever think it's okay to force something. But if it's been on your heart and you know the Lord has been saying, I want you to invite me into your marriage at a deeper level than this episode is for you. The first thing I want to point out is that if there is a struggle in your marriage where you're lashing out, you're not allowing yourself to be patient, and you're moving into that place of snapping at your spouse, and it just seems like it happens automatically. It's a sign for you to get deeper into something in your heart. There's something that needs to be tended to inside. Ephesians 6, 12 is the verse that I want to make clear for you that our enemy is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers and plincipalities of this unseen world. Often, it feels like that person is the enemy, but that's not the truth. That's not the word of God. God chose the spouse for you. God has the spouse for you. So you are united with Jesus together as one. So that is stronger than where the enemy is wanting to take you. God has you as one. There's unity with you in your spouse. The enemy wants you to think that your spouse is the enemy. So that's the first thing that I want to really make clear is Ephesians 6, 12. We want to lean into. This trigger is a sign of pain, a sign of hurt, a sign of maybe loneliness, a sign of not being heard, a sign of not being seen. We want to just lean into that and allow God to show you what is that. It's not a personality flaw. There's not something wrong with you. This is often what we will do. But there's this quick automatic. Something is unhealed in your heart. That you might feel in lovable. You might feel unseen. Maybe there's old family patterns that you have. This is how your mom responded or this is how your dad responded. So it's kind of subtle. It doesn't seem like it's bad. But it's automatic and it just comes out. Also, there could be some of you that have those in your community. They're communicating the same way. I don't think that's at all of you. But I think there's some of you that maybe have friends that maybe men bash or women bash. And there's this community of men are dumb or women are emotional. And while sometimes there could be some facts around certain actions, that kind of spirit can be toxic. And it doesn't help you to be motivated to want to be encouraging to your spouse. So the second one is we want to see them as triggers. We want to lean into that is we want to notice patterns. We're not going to be able to know if what's going on. If we can't see the patterns. Second Corinthians 2 11 says that in order that Satan might not out with us for we are not unaware of his schemes. There are some churches that just don't talk about the enemy. The problem with that is that the enemy is talking about you. If we aren't aware of what the enemy is doing, then we don't know how to say, "Here God, I give you what the enemy is doing." And we shine the darkness into the light. So noticing the patterns can be helpful for you to know what to pray about and how to invite God into this. When I felt angry towards my husband, I started to notice the Holy Spirit started to highlight it for me. This isn't about him. This is about you. And I was like, "Oh, I didn't want to have that answer." That wasn't what I wanted to hear. I wanted to hear, "He needs to do this and this and this and this." That's what we need to pray about. And the Lord was like, "Hidey, no. This is something in your heart. I want you to be able to love at a greater measure." And you've got to be able to make room so that my love can come in at a bigger capacity because I believe you can. And I believe each one of you can as well. So we want to find out the patterns. We want to look at, let's see, here's a pattern that would happen. Is that for me, when my husband will say something to me that he's either asking me to do something or telling me what to do something, I will get triggered and go to a stronghold of, "I don't know what I'm doing. I'm not capable." And it goes back to old patterns that were early on in our marriage. So I will either snap in him and I'll be quick with my response. But it's based on an old pattern that we had early. on. We didn't know that we were operating in this unhealthy pattern and so that's an example of me being able to notice, okay, I don't want to respond like that. I need to dig in a little deeper in my heart. So notice and things like what's going on in your body, okay, is the anger that you're feeling feels out of proportion? Do you feel guilty afterwards but really powerless during? Okay, I want you to name the cycle so that we can break it instead of keeping it in shame and keeping it in hidden secret because the enemy likes to be kept secret. So right now I want to just take a minute and talk about my sponsor which is milk and honey, talo company dot com. Here's one of the products right here. Here's some lip butter. You can get 15% off right now if you use my link in the code strong tower 15. I do have a specific link which is an affiliate link. I love this company you guys and it's why I wanted to have milk and honey, talo company as a sponsor on the podcast. Check out the link, go to milk and honey, talo dot com and use strong tower 15 at checkout. So point three is to be offensive, not defensive. We want to invite the holy spirit into the moment of that trigger, not just afterwards. So this is where we can pray about the interactions, holy spirit coming, guide the interactions with my spouse, help me to not allow that trigger to take over, help me to make healthy choices. Many times we deal with this after it happens and so now there's a blow up, there's a situation and they're like, God, what happened? Or why am I doing this? Why is this happening now? Where there's no problem with that if you're just starting to do that. That's a great place to start. But we want to now start stepping into being proactive and inviting the Holy Spirit into that space before we even communicate with our spouse. So some questions that we can ask. What wound is being poked? What wound is being triggered? Is this about him? Or is this about something from my past? Okay, anger's usually covering up something you guys, something that's underneath where you feel powerless, unheard, dismissed, unsafe emotionally, or feeling like you're carrying too much. Okay, John 1613 says, "When the Spirit of truth has come, he will guide you into all truth." One of my favorite verses is Psalms 139, 23 through 24, where it says, "Search me, oh God, know me. See if there's any offensive way in me." This is that holy spirit in the Spirit of truth. Investigator coming in and saying, "I am your healer. I am your deliverer. We don't have to have it all together, but we need to invite God into the space." So even as I'm speaking right now and you're thinking about certain things in your marriage, I want you to just invite God into that space. You may not have all the answers, but we're inviting him in and we're asking God to shine light on these interactions. There is often a protector emotion against something. And if any of you are familiar with parts language, IFS is internal family systems. It's where we have protectors and we have different parts of ourselves that have roles. And what I would invite and what I would speak to you right now is that part of you that is protecting you. I see you. I thank you for protecting this listener or those who are watching. And I'm going to ask you to lean into inviting the Holy Spirit to investigate why you are so protective. And if you can allow the listener, whoever is watching right now, to invite the Holy Spirit in that place of pain, that place of hurt, and that that protector part where I see you, I know that you're really smart and you're very bright, that you can start to advocate with the Holy Spirit instead of responding in flesh. But we invite God into that place of protecting that God can take over as the protector. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Yeah, when we feel vulnerable, we want to just guard our heart. No, I don't like that. We want to start diving into this place of investigation. So point four about how we can heal these hidden strongholds in our marriage is identifying the lie that's about ourself, not our spouse. Because in this situation, I'm talking to you, I'm not talking to our spouse. And this is the same thing when I'm doing counseling with someone. They'll come in and with complaints about their spouse, but I can't work with them. I'm only seeing you. So here's who I have to work with. So let's work with you right now so that we can start to be that courageous spouse, the courageous first step that's in bringing the Holy Spirit into this. So as I'm talking through this and going through this episode, what lies are you noticing? What things are bubbling up for you? These could be lies about yourself, but they could also be lies about your spouse. I know a common thing that can happen is that we can spin in these strongholds that build around us. And we just basically live life proving that that stronghold is right. So for example, it could be my husband is the problem. And so if that is the truth that I believe, everything is going to be geared towards that. So if he makes a choice, he comes home late or he doesn't pick up the kids and you have to pick up the kids or he comes in and doesn't say hi, he may seem a little bit irritated. It's he's the problem. He doesn't love me. He's not, you know, he's a jerk or whatever it is. We are going to equate everything to come back to that truth that we believe, but it's actually a lie. So we first have to start to connect. This is why I started with those first three points about inviting the Holy Spirit into this place so that we can allow God into soften our heart because often this episode is hard to do because if there has been a lot of pain for you, you're going to just argue with me and be like, well, no, he is a jerk or he is the problem. And while I hear you, this is a podcast. It's not a therapy session. So if it was a therapy session, I would take some time and I would sit and listen to you. I'd want to hear about what things have been like for you and I'd want to hear your stories. So part of what's difficult for me about podcasting is that I'm jumping to some solutions and some really tough sensitive and vulnerable topics and life situations that it's just, it's not easy to just jump to, okay, let's just break the lie. When you're still living in something that feels really hard and really heavy. So one, if you're in that place, I'm going to invite you to seek a counselor, seek interhealing and journal, find a trusted friend because you've got to get it out. I can, I can feel that there's some of you that really need to speak out where you're at. And some of that is just journaling this happened, this happened, I'm angry with this and frustrated with this. I'm mad about this and just type, type, or write whatever it is that you need to do because it's important. God cares about your story. He cares about why you're struggling. I think this is important because when we want to jump to forgiveness and breaking lies, if there's a story that we skip, we're going to be more wounded. So I don't want to skip over your story. I don't want to skip over your pain, especially if there's something that is bubbling up for you. I really want you to know that you are valued. You are important. You are honored and I honor you and I honor your story. And you are here wanting a greater and better life. You want God to come into your marriage at a greater measure, a greater place. And the way that we do this is we invite God into the space that's really, really hard and really painful. We aren't going to have all the perfect fix it answers. And every single one of you has a different story. But John 8.44 says that the enemy is a liar and the father of lies. And John 10.10 says that the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy and God comes to bring life and bring life abundantly. So the enemy is going to tell you things about your spouse that she's emotional wreck. She's a hot mess. You know, she can't handle anything. She isn't capable. He isn't capable. He can't hold a job. There's all these things that we could go off of factual things. But we want to start to partner what God has. Okay, this is the source. This is why this is important. We're getting it now, the roots, which is what I talked about in my last stronghold episode of like where are the actual lies, where are the roots of those strongholds? So we want to ask Holy Spirit, where are the lies? What am I believing about me? What am I believing about my marriage? What am I believing about my spouse? Some common lies are that I'm alone. I'm not supported. Nothing will change. It'll never get better. I'm not valued. If I let my guard down, I will get hurt. Many times these are from child, these are from past relationships or other seasons of important, excuse me, disappointment. When there is any small little trigger that touches that lie, it's just like a flame. It just gets triggered and it's off. So if you are experiencing any of that where it's just this hidden anger, this automatic thought that goes up, there is a lie underneath there. God wants us to be in a place of peace. He wants us to have healthy conversations. He wants us to be in a place of abundance and joyful life. He does not want us to be having these hidden automatic negative strongholds that come up in our, in our, with our spouses. So I realized that I was actually feeling lonely and I was feeling unworthy myself. Things started to shift. I'm going to just put in a point here in this place of finding the strongholds. I also was able to partner with God to find out what does God think. So for example, I had some different dreams and visions that I had of my husband where he was really confident. I saw this God-finance in him and he, I heard that he's a man of peace. So I just started partnering with what God was saying even though there were times. I mean, he is that way sometimes, but there's times that he's not. Same with me. But I was partnering with God and I would say, the Lord says that he is a man of peace. God, I thank you that my husband is a man of peace. I thank you that he is so good at changing culture. You know, I just start leaning into what does God have? We're going to get into breaking the strongholds and then some other healing and then I'll pray at the end. So the next thing, then, the next point that we want to do with strongholds in our marriage is we want to break agreement with the lie, not the spouse. This is where in the last episode, I talk about 2 Corinthians 10, 4 through 5, where the weapons that we fight are not the weapons of this world. They have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments in every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. Your spouse's a jerk is pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. And we take captive every thought. All right. James 4.7 is also really good where it says, submit yourselves, then to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. I feel like some of you are so focused on what's happening in the world and what's happening in the facts that it's hard to be able to get into the spirit. It's hard to be able to even see and sense what God is doing, but it's you're so focused on the facts, the activities, the behavior that you're seeing with your eyes. And it's hard to get into what does God think. So I'm going to just pray right now that we break off agreements with the enemy. We break the lie that we are alone. We break the lie that we're unsupported, that we're unseen in the name of Jesus. I break agreement and reject the spirit of anger, the spirit of bitterness. I break the lie that our spouses are the problem. I'm going to go specific with, I break the lie that my husband is the problem. I break the lie that my wife is the problem in the name of Jesus. Thank you God. Holy Spirit, we choose truth, reveal and heal the root of these reactions that we will that we are having. We want to get at the root God. We don't want to just change behavior. We pray for deliverance right now and renewing of our mind. And it's going to keep moving where I feel the Lord is taking us. I want you now to speak out if you're ready. God I forgive my spouse. I want you to just as we're breaking up and shaking up the ground in this. I want you to speak it out. Even if you don't completely believe it or feel it or ready, there's a spiritual principle that just gets broken when you spoke this. So God, I forgive my spouse. Pause the podcast if you need to and I want you to say four and I want you to speak out four for not getting the help they need, for not being kind during this situation, for blittling me in front of this person, for making fun of me here, for ignoring me here. Speak out the specific things. All of it needs to come out. This is how bitterness takes root is because we're not speaking it out and telling God. So we just want to speak out all forgiveness and we thank you for the powerful blood of Jesus. This is why Jesus died for us, you guys. And we just pray right now that we receive this forgiveness. And I want you all to just say I forgive myself for letting this bitterness take root. And then I want you to say I repent for partnering with bitterness, anger, discord, any manipulation, divination, division, or any spirit of the enemy in the name of Jesus. God, we thank you. We thank you that you make us white as slow, white as snow. You wash us clean. Thank you God. I want you to just say, God, I receive your forgiveness. Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for the cross. Thank you for the powerful blood of Jesus. Yeah, God, we invite you into these spaces, even more. Go deeper into the roots, the spaces that are heard, that are hard, that are hurting, that have pain, that we don't even know yet. Some of us don't even know what that is. Where the enemy has a pattern as created different patterns, we break that right now in the name of Jesus. I pray right now for God to break the ungodly patterns and unhealthy strongholds that are in your marriage right now in the name of Jesus. And we ask for God to come and shed light and start to work miracles. Healing hearts. We pray for the Lord to heal your heart. What man can't do, God can do. I pray for you to start to have vision and dreams and even just words. I pray for words to start to speak out of your mouth that are godly and encouraging towards your spouse. They're like, how is this possible? Well, it's not possible with man, but you are doing the brave thing by inviting God into this space. And so I want you to just take a breath right now. Yeah, we just want to just reset anything in your body. Because sometimes when we have a lot of hurt and we have a lot of pain, our body starts to just kind of disconnect. And so we're just going to invite the Holy Spirit into your body. And then just pray for the Lord to go deeper into your body and heal parts of your body. And if there's something that's coming up for you that's bubbling up like, wow, you know what? I'm just in realizing that I think I'm really lonely. All right, I think I just feel unseen or I feel overwhelmed. Like, this is okay, you guys. This isn't bad. This is confession. This is honesty. Remember, the truth will set you free. This is truth. If we don't get and dig at the real truth of where your heart is at, God can't work with perfection. I'm doing great. Everything's wonderful. But then we invite God into this and we ask for God's vision. I also just want to break off any automatic cycles of irritation in the name of Jesus. Everything that's automatic that's happening. And I pray for the Lord to come in and shake up the grounds that things start to move. So I'm going to give a testimony of how I was able to shift this. One of the things that was a very negative pattern with my husband and I is unhealthy communication and gaslighting. So there was manipulation that was happening and we didn't realize that we were doing this. I don't think you guys are realizing that this is happening. So I would come forward with something like I'm feeling this or this is what's happening. He would get a, you know, mad or not like what I'm asking. We're not listening to each other, by the way. And then he would attack and then I would feel unheard and mad and I would attack back. And then he'd bring it up into something I'm doing. And so I bring up something and then he would come back and say something about me or it just wasn't healthy. So I then prayed, God help us to break these unhealthy, godly patterns. I pray that I don't receive the gaslighting and I told my husband I'm working on this. So if you gaslight, I'm not going to engage. So these are the things that I did. So the first time that it happened, he then comes at me or I go to him and then he comes at me and I was, my heart was beating and I was super, super afraid because I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm doing breaking this for the first time and he continued to talk. He wasn't used to that. But the first time that it happened, it started to decrease a little bit. I felt a little bit of hope. I was still not super hopeful because it wasn't great. It was still not good. This is why I said at the beginning of the podcast track where there's improvement, even if it's like from really bad to just bad, that's still movement. And so as we were able to then interact again, anytime there was form of gas laying, a form of manipulation, I didn't engage. And I said, remember, I'm not gonna engage. As we continue to communicate and I didn't engage with it, he then stopped reacting back because I wasn't fueling it. We then started to learn a new pattern. He then started to recognize other people that were gaslating because as he stopped doing it himself, he realized, wow, this happens a lot in other conversations. Again, forgiving these people, they don't know what they're doing. And then we were able to start to recognize how we want to be kinder to each other. But I gotta tell you guys, this is the biggest thing that happened from this. I realized that the reason why I was allowing it because I wasn't actually believing that I was worthy of being communicated to in a healthy manner. That is deep. Because I thought it was him being a jerk. Whether I'm sure he was, like I'm sure it wasn't okay how he was talking to me, but the biggest problem was that I didn't feel worthy of being communicated to in a healthy manner. Because then after this, there would be interactions that we'd have and he wasn't gaslighting, but he was kind of communicating in a way that felt a little bit belittling. Again, he didn't realize he was doing this. And I stopped and I said, "I'm not gonna engage in that it's not okay for you to talk to me like that. I'm worthy of you being kind to me." And because I held my ground, I was kind about it. I wasn't rude. He stopped doing that. Like again, he didn't know that he was communicating like that. And this is the thing you guys, as we start to love ourselves, believe that we're worthy of healthy communication or we heal these things inside, people then start to interact with us with the way that we believe about ourselves. So I hope this is giving you hope, but I had to forgive, I had to repent, I had to do all these things. Invite God into this space. And here's the last thing that I wanna share about this episode in breaking ungodly strongholds in your marriage. I wanna encourage you to start to learn how to walk an authority with your marriage, with your home, with your spouse. I want to encourage you to be able to pray over your house, but walking an authority means love. If you don't still feel love towards your spouse, then we need to keep digging. We won't have authority over what you don't love. This came from Heidi Baker. And I'm getting this from Luke 10, 19, where Jesus says, "I've given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall hurt you." Two verses before that, they were saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name." That means that we have the power to break the enemy in the name of Jesus. So we're walking and we're breaking off these ungodly strongholds in the name of Jesus. We have the authority, you guys. Feelings don't matter in this. So if we have fear, if we have lies that we're still believing or there's other things that are hidden, if we have some sort of addiction that we're going to, that helps us to cope with, "Oh, just my husband's not paying attention here, "my wife doesn't seem to love me." And we have some sort of addiction that also gives ground for the enemy to come in, that's at this open door for the enemy to come into our marriage. But here's the biggest thing I want to tell you guys, this came to me when I was writing this. We don't need to all be fixed or put together. We just need to be submitted. Men have repeat this again. Over everything I just said in this whole episode today, you don't need to have it all together, you don't need to be fixed, you don't need to be healed, you just need to be submitted to Jesus. His grace will be with you, his protection and covering will be guiding you. And this is why I was saying at the beginning, we want to have faith with, I'm at seven bad days, and then we start to move and we're like now in at five, and we start to see the improvement. We used to have blow ups, I don't know, a couple times a week, and then it went down to one time a week, and then it was like once a month, and then I was like, I don't remember the last time it happened. And now if it happens, it's because I'm just frustrated, or he's just frustrated, it has nothing to do with each other. It's just about a thing, and then we're able to be there for each other. Is this making sense? We don't need to be fixed, we just need to be submitted. And so I want to encourage you to pray over your house. Maybe take some anointing oil, olive oil, if you don't have anointing oil, pray over your home, open the doors of your home, welcome Jesus in, welcome the Holy Spirit, welcome Father God, and anoint the doorposts, and the sides of the doors, and just say, I anoint this home in the name of the Father, set in the Holy Spirit, and I welcome the Trinity into this home. And I want to encourage you, if you're not feeling that love still, to not be discouraged, but to be submitted, and that you're just saying, God, I'm inviting you into this place, I'm inviting you into my heart. And so Holy Spirit, I thank you for the honor of being able to speak on such a tough topic. I pray that you are moving in every single one of us, that there is no shame right now where we're at, that we're all submitted to you in our imperfection. But that Holy Spirit, I pray that you reveal the root of the anger and bitterness over every single person right now, that you shine the light on every lie, and that you will break the stronghold of bitterness, offenses, overreactions, any spirits from the enemy in the name of Jesus. For those who are in a place of deep struggle, I pray that you find wise counsel for them, and that it's quick and easy, and that they're safe wise counsel. I pray Lord that you will restore unity, tenderness, and emotional safety in the marriages. I pray that you cover their homes with your peace and your anointing. And I pray, God, for the fruit of the Spirit to rise up to grow healthy, fruit, in every single person's marriage, that there will be patience, gentleness, self-control. Let every place where the enemy has tried to sneak and be shut. In Jesus name, we thank you, Jesus. We give you all the glory and all the praise. Amen. Summary:

FAQs

The podcast focuses on mental health freedom through the gospel, covering topics like inner healing, deliverance, trauma, and healthy relationships to encourage listeners in their faith and personal growth.

Notice patterns of automatic reactions like anger or bitterness, track triggers, and invite the Holy Spirit to reveal underlying pain or lies from past experiences that affect your responses.

Pause and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in the moment. Investigate what wound is being poked—often anger masks feelings of being unheard, unsafe, or powerless—rather than blaming your spouse.

Name the cycle to bring it out of secrecy, identify lies you believe about yourself or your spouse, and partner with God's perspective to replace those lies with truth and healing.

The enemy aims to create division by making you see your spouse as the problem, but Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our true battle is against spiritual forces, not flesh and blood.

The Holy Spirit guides you into truth, helps you respond proactively instead of reactively, and brings healing to hidden wounds, fostering unity and peace in your marriage.
