Haunted HayRide: Radical Transparency + Jumpscares

This humorous and heartfelt podcast episode blends prank-based entertainment with deep conversations about authenticity, relationships, and personal growth. Hosts Benito and Mary Beth, along with guests like Molly, Jesse, and Ellen, create a lively, chaotic atmosphere centered around Halloween pranks, jump scares, and unfiltered honesty. A key theme is radical transparency—being vulnerable and open in relationships, even when it's uncomfortable—viewed as a powerful tool for connection and emotional maturity. The hosts share personal stories, from being canceled online to awkward moments in relationships, illustrating how honesty can deepen bonds or reveal incompatibilities. The episode also celebrates horror cinema, particularly *Carrie* and *Resident Evil*, as emotionally impactful experiences that mirror real-life fears. It includes product shout-outs for wellness brands like Nutriple and Sophie Pavitt, tying self-care to personal transformation. Light-hearted segments on group chats, gym culture, and social media visibility add humor and relatability. Ultimately, the episode champions openness, vulnerability, and the courage to speak one’s truth—both in public and private life—as essential to building trust and meaningful connections. It’s a celebration of queer resilience, humor, and the messy beauty of real human interaction.

The following podcast is a deer media production. Hi there. I'm Benito Skinner. I'm Mary Bephrone. And this? Is? Right. Right. Where's my salad? I didn't even realize. Oh my god. Fuck it, we're doing it. Come on in. Welcome our guests. You see, Merry Christmas. Christmas come early. It was my birthday recently. Happy birthday, October 4th. I turned 30. Yeah, you didn't invite me. Actually, what is the line again? And everybody picture that I'm wearing icy blue contacts, I just, they would have heard the whole time. Right. No, you shouldn't. It's the one time I'm being unprofessional. Actually, no, that's not the truth, Ellen. Welcome, everybody, to our school. It's our spectacular. It's a hundred-year-olds. It's our fun and sleigh ride, even. Look at me. school. school. Oh my god, I Ellen Franks. You. Oh my god. I woke up, you can't. Now I see why Ellen does it. I love it. Oh, thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, guys. I saw him walking in. The guy under there. I know. Jesse. I thought he was just, no, I didn't even think of it one time. I love you so much. Oh my god. You're unwell. I take too many, all week, and I go, wait, I'm feeling like Ellen. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You just lean in to camera and it focused on you in such a scary way. Wait, come here, baby. No, you just take the mask off. Jesse. I was like, he's going to die. I thought you might have a surprise. You were so, but I didn't know it would be scary. You were so quiet. In a way that I was like, is it dead in there? Oh my god, well, if you would have passed out, start way faster. I tried it. I was eye-washing them. I didn't know there was a person in there. Now, who's in there? Which of my exes are in the small line? I knew that would tip you off, literally. Everybody fuck. I know he wouldn't fit in there. That part. Well, here's the thing. I mean, we have to keep it authentic. It's a thrill. How's my mic? Am I okay? Okay. Wow, I get why Ellen was so bloodthirsty for pranks. She could have killed some people though easily. That's a good thing. I have low blood pressure. The degenerous queen. That's what people are calling me. A Nikki quote. It is what it is. Today's about canceled people. Nikki. Yeah, it's about Nikki. It's so crazy. I feel like I'm interviewing you immediately. You are interviewing me. I've locked into this. What would you like to know? Before this, Mary Beth goes, what if you were in the-- Well, I wanted Molly to get in there. Now it makes sense why you guys weren't excited about that idea. Holy shit. And why I had to keep you in the bathroom. You can't even take selfies in there. You're a liar, you lie. I'm actually really good at, like, I was chilled the whole time. I was nervous that whole-- You're liar. Because I was like, and I couldn't hear you breathe. Ellen, you're not going to get away with this. You're not. They tried to cancel me. I don't care if it's a strap. I said not in me. If anyone can find out who tweeted that. Who tweeted that? Or I think it might even have been a Facebook status. Where do you live? Because we want you on Redwood. We want you on Ellen. We're rebooting Ellen in the hope. But it's hosted by Benny Drama. I was so worried. Maybe you were going to hit him. Sorry, I'm still on this prank. Hit him? Well, I just didn't know if you were going to like push or like how much you were going to freak out. Was that full, like, scared the shit out of you? I mean, you know what? I just, you kept saying spooky and I was like, what's going on? I know. That was the code word. Obviously. Spooky was code word. I don't like when you keep secrets from me. I know initially it was going to be they tried to cancel. He was going to say that. Well, I was going to. Oh, that was going to be the code word. Jesse was going to. But I could have said that at any moment. Also, it could have just been Jesse. But I was like, something told me that Ellen used to do gorilla suits. Am I correct? She did, right? Welcome to ride. Welcome to our Halloween. No prosthetics this year. So no prosthetics, which made me think we weren't doing it. I walk into this unbelievable set. Molly. Molly. Molly Brunk really pulled out all the stops. The costume is actually just the whole thing. And it's actually just simply you and bangs. And I found the Alice Underridge set that Dakota wore. I got this on best years. How you say it? Yes. The best available and it came home with me. Yeah. Could say. And I'm wearing head to toe. The no bows. No, I don't know what Ellen. Amazon Amazon. She was an offense. But I'm wearing all Amazon basics. Check the boots sister. Can we check it? Can you get a boot check? Can you get a little boot check? They're going to zoom in on these boots later. But what did I call myself Mustang Sally? Yeah, you said you felt like the jeans made you feel like Mustang Sally. And again, I'm sorry about the contacts, but I am tucked. So. Right. Right. Where is Ellen right now? I think she moved to London or something. What do you think when Dakota's product to her? What do you think she does? Right. I think she leaves. Of course, portion. Didn't we say Portia was a macho woman? I think she's definitely a macho woman. But it's funny because she was like in an ad for like some kind of macho or thing recently. And I was just like, wow, that's crazy. Well, she's a breadwinner now. Yeah, totally. She's a breadwinner. This Ellen face. I'm sad we were never on Ellen. We would have had fun on her. I know. I wonder who they would have brought from our past. She seems sweet. She seems complicated. Yeah. No, for sure. If I had to say. Well, she was like her first gay celebrity, basically. I know. And honestly, I'm kind of like rarely do gays get that kind of power and like leave in a good way. Yeah. So I'm not like, I don't know. I guess the whole thing is just a wash to me. It's a wash. There's a lot of good and a lot of bad. Yeah. Who was her like a gay servant or was he straight? She had like a guy that she would kind of like poke at. What was his name? Andy. Kind of the Molly or also the Jesse. I feel like you need to move your mic closer. Should I move the mic? It sounds fine, but if you want to. Well, I was kind of shouting. And I knew it was going to laugh so hard at the prank. I'm literally like, I have a sugar rush. You work to prank into the Halloween episode, which is a first of its kind. I can't believe you doubted that we were going all in for this and you knew about that. Like, I've been really happy with the amount that we plan and put in. And you've been doing backdoor deals like all fucking week. Well, texty Molly and saying, could we do ride in the Ellen font for the mic covers? Like, that's. Hey, it's the little things. It's not all. It's not all. It's not all. It's not all. It's. It's not rooted in the tradition of longevity. That's why I just want to say we have not read the. I have not read the read it in a really long time. But if there was any whispers of us and not wanting to use podcasts in what world would. I bought bangs. These are really high quality. We bought a gorilla suit this week. We're locked in. This is heaven. I'm like so happy to be here with you. Where do you want to start with telling spooky stories? Well, so that was the spookiest in them all. And obviously today I'm writing for jump scares. And the greatest one of all time was just captured on film. And I'm writing for chat. I cannot speak. I walked in and Chris called me a dike today actually. She goes, what? That's bad. She goes, that's you. What can we even say anymore? I guess this is my big question. And I, I, I'm, I've asked so many lesbians and they've asked me back of like. Situation of what we could say. I'm saying it now. We'll bleep all of it. But I am curious. If anyone knows. If any straight girls listening, no, let us know. For me as a bisexual woman, I just don't say either. Just play it safe. I think that's fair. I don't have the sort of bravery that Krissa has. Yeah. But I just feel like, yeah, it's not my, I hate my word to say my words to say. Yeah. Of course. So we'll find out from the masses. Yeah. Well, Krissa can say it all. Right. Krissa. I guess we'll explain it all. Because you're like, you're down for all. You're in the podcast. You're in cinematic universe. And now you say it. She's actually, no, she's starting to need again. Yeah, she's like, fuck. She's like, now that everyone knows who cares. Who gives a fuck? What do I have to fucking? Seriously. They try to cancel me. Just every time you move, it's getting caught in my camera, which I actually like because it's cinematic. This? Yeah. Um, I'm writing for Radical Transparency today. Oh, my God. The scariest thing in all. Honestly. Well, my God. Like literally, dude. Actually. Ellen. Actually, that's not exactly true. That's not exactly true. You know what? I have my, it might be the only hot take I've got. She did that because she's a true Nepo baby and that she's got nothing to lose. And she's, I think she's so talented. I'm such a, I think she's incredible where she fans of Ellen, but I. Yeah. I'm like, she just had nothing to lose. Only someone with nothing to lose could have that much radical transparency. Yeah. And could just be like, well, that's just why are you trying to lie on camera? So what happened? It's not what happened. I wish more people would do that because there are so many things where I see somebody and I'm like, you're such a fucking liar. Neutral, it's the fall update. So I met Sophie Pavitt actually all the way back in like 2017, I think, was my first facial. It completely rocked my world. And during that time, she was developing what is now Sophie Pavitt face, which is, it's a revolution. They sell it in the Sephora and Boise, Idaho, no less. - Yeah. - But that Mandela Clearing Serum, it has cleared my sister skin, my skin, your skin in a huge way. I use the face wash and the hydrating moisturizer, and now there's one with sunscreen, or it's SPF. - How about I tell you my favorite? - Please. - So the nice ice is, that's what I'm talking about. I use it every day on set. Deput this little rosacea face. Come on, come on, come on, come on. And usually my skin hates nice and in mind, but it's fine in that one. I am obsessed with the new cloths, the clean cloth. - The cloths are incredible. - 'Cause I'm also rosacea girl bacteria, towels. You can't wash towels every day. - But her philosophy is a simple three step approach. Clean, treat, moisturize, no 12 step routines. I mean, I have like, I bring like barely any product everywhere I go. - I'm laughing. - Don't know how I'm rosacea down here. We talk a lot on the show about anxiety and family dynamics. Wouldn't you say? - Well, that's kind of like top two. - And how to navigate both. But in order to make big meaningful changes that's dick, it often takes a lot of conversation and practice. As you know, we have recommended regular therapy to anyone who listens. And now we're recommending growth therapy. Everyone treats summer like it owes you happiness. Long days, pool parties, literally. Your best life on a loop. So what does it mean when you feel worse? Availability and coverage vary by state and insurance plan. We're at the Montecito. - We're at the Montecito. - Ranch, we're at the state in Montecito. - Yes. - That's where we came to. - Next to Harry and Megan, H&M. I loved it, they called each other H&M. I wrote a joke about it. - I didn't know. - I actually didn't know that. - Yeah. Kynuman plays H. I just thought it was so funny to H is just not a letter that's allowed to be a nickname. It's my, just, if I had to say. - Right. - Sure, I got some hot takes in Zellin. - I smell a subway take. - Come on, let me do a subway take. Let Alan do a subway take. - Please get Alan on subway takes. - No one should be canceled. - No one should be canceled, Cream. (all laughing) - I love when JLo is like, you're not New York. If you're not a New Yorker. - Eh. - If you wait, put me in York. But. (all laughing) Those are always funny to me. - Let's do subway take. If you had to do one. - If I had to do one, I had one. - I had one that wasn't good. But one thing I do think is that we shouldn't expect musicians to also perform live. - What's so interesting is that I told you that that might be my subway take. And now you've adopted it as if it was your own idea. - No, no, no, it was a different one. - No, it was not. - Are you serious? - It was not. It was that pop stars should not be expected to perform live, just 'cause you can lay down a track in a studio doesn't mean you're a performer. - Yeah. - So I'm glad that really resonated with you. - Well, Capro Land taught me this thing that she says NAP, not a performer, about something. - And why would every singer have to be a performer? - Yeah, that feels crazy. - You know what I mean? - Well, this is my take, sorry, easy. - Yeah, I guess it is. It's already done. - I've already tried it. It's already done. - You've already tried it. - Why did these branches grow all random? Daddy, can we take the branches off? - Take the branches off and start from scratch. Meanwhile, the Rockefeller Center one has rats in it. - Whatever that's their house. - That's their house. - Well, of course. - LA does not care about the homelessness epidemic, but the people live in trees. - That's fine. - That's your subway take. I know I want to do a really intense one, just to see how that goes. - No, cut it. - Okay. - It's a cut. - Oh, can't say that. Oh, can't say that. - The editing department. - You're so fucking a-was. - Me silencing women. So I'm wearing Chelsea boots. And what you don't understand is that these boots are made for walking. - Actually, actually Ellen, that's not true. (laughing) - Where's my selling? - I can't stop doing that. (laughing) - This is the best episode of Ride Ever. I actually think we should just do it, Ellen. (laughing) - We're not riding for anything. - Oh my God. I used to wear these jeans. I would put on-- - Tighter even. - The fit was number one. - Tighter even. - And I put you tight or even. I just remember being like, "I'm ready for the day." - Sitting at an office job in skinny rag and bone denim, I had bruises. I would get bruises on my midsection. - Totally. - And it's like denim up the-- - Well, high waisted became a thing for men recently. And I remember in my last few years, "Oh, you know the ones." Me, I've worn a few high waisted things. And I just, I have so much respect for all people who have worn them before. Most of the men-- - Yeah, especially 'cause we have different stuff down there. - Across here. - Just a little bit. - It's like hurts more. - It really does. I'm wearing Chris's pouch. How do I feel really? - Can I tell a tale from the crypt, which means a story about my ex? - Yeah, of course. - I won't name which one. - Yeah, wait, I have to get back into Halloween spirit. - So I was in a relationship. Let's start there. And I had the opportunity to do some travel travel. - You're a boyfriend you got, you whore, Ellen. Me as Ellen. - And I say I am a whore. Yeah, I wear shorts to the gym, Ellen. So I was in a relationship. I had the opportunity to travel to vacation destination. On the trip, we took lots of photos as you would do. I went to Hawaii and took a bunch of pictures. I'm putting together a photo dump 'cause I'm a public person. I live my life publicly. But I have private stuff too. But I wanted people to know that I went to Hawaii. - If you're gonna, if you're gonna be public, get ready to have your relationships and everything about you publicly critiqued. When people say that, I'm like, I just don't like, do you have no family? Is there no family? We have to find some. Well, there's no family. - There's no family. - Here's the problem with those people. They don't like their family and there's no chosen family. - Oh, okay. 'Cause no one wants to be around them. - Who's Ellen's chosen family? - I would say, me, me, Posh. - Tom Cruise. - Posh at one point. - Mr. Tom Cruise. Digger. Keep going. - Me, Digger, the titular digger. - Well, that's the titular digger. - So I go to Hawaii, I'm planning this dump once we're back. And it's an explosive photo dump, obviously. No longer available. It's been archived. - We're good. - It started being kind of mean towards me after I had this dump planned and I posted it. Well, no, this wasn't when we got back. We're coming off the heels of this lovely vacation. So I post the dump. It's obviously fabulous and well curated. And then he starts being mean to me and of course communication, not great. So I say like, what's up? And he was like, well, you posted a photo that I took of a dolphin and you didn't ask me for permission. And I was like, it was on my phone. Like I could have taken it and he was like, no, because it's perfectly centered in the frame. And look at this picture that you took of a rooster. It's like, it's like not a good photo. So like, I honestly took that. - My grandpa was at Pearl Harbor. You know what I mean? Oh, that's really tough. It's hard. - Yeah, so. - I just, I. - He was mad because I posted a photo from our vacation that he took without asking. And can I just also clarify by saying that he never posted about the trip. - Yeah. - So it's not, I didn't take anything from him. - This has been awesome. We're gonna go. But thank you, Molly, for sending this up. Thank you, Jesse, of course. Jesse has passed out. - Jesse is no longer with us. - But we have to finish the episode. - That's one of, you know what? I think one of the Halloween years I read for, I wrote for girls going on dates. - And my God, it's just everything I hear about it. - As I've said, everything I hear about being a woman just you guys are not telling it to me. - What happens after the dates can be sometimes the worst part. - It's worse when you lock in. - Once you've locked in. - Oh my God. - 'Cause I go, well that's not really a reason to break up with someone, but I feel like that's kind of weird to be mad at me about that. - I feel like Gaze would just be like, I'm posting it too. - Well, they would be like, they would, yeah, they would just go like, that's cool that you posted that. - I love gay couples on TikTok. There's been a lot that are like breaking up and they're like in battles with each other. - Let's break up season randomly. - I'm here about some high profile breakups lately. - Oh really? - Yeah, I can. - Any that you can disclose. - No. - Okay. - It's worse. - Yeah. - Come on, see it. It's a perfect place to say it, right? - What? - I mean, I could say it, but we'd have to believe it. - I can't imagine doing a talk show 'cause it'd be like you'd have to know everyone and be interested in everything. - I'd be so scared. - I'm watching so much stuff too. - Yeah, I don't think so. - I think I'd like that part. - How much do we think Ellen was watching? She watched Shrek too. - A lot. - You know, when I think about all the time, me, Antonio Banderis was on Oprah for "Puss and Boots." Or not "Puss and Boots." He was for Shrek too. - Okay. - And she said, "Puss and Boots stole the movie." And the whole cast was there. And I'm like, if I was in the cast, I'd be like, "Hey, Oprah, that really fucking hurt." What you said out there, fucking like stung. - How long have you been sitting with that? - I actually like, I think about it a lot 'cause I'm like, fuck that would have, like, and she, do I think she was wrong now? Like, I do think "Puss and Boots" left with that movie, but I just-- - I mean, he didn't leave it the movie. He left with the franchise. - Exactly. - "Puss and Boots" last wish, what's it called? - Best movie I've ever seen. - Wait. - So what were you talking about? - "Puss and Boots" the last wish. - Yeah, the last wish. - I watched that in Hawaii. - It's about death. - On that trip. - Oh, he did like that, right? - Yeah. - Yeah. - Yeah, he actually insisted we watch it. - Oh, that's one good thing. - Shrek guys love to make their girlfriends watch animated things. 'Cause my-- - Among others, that's what it was all about. - My brother and my sister, which I love, 'cause he'll be like, we've watched Toy Story 5 yet. He said that recently. - And I liked the movie, but now I can never watch it again. - Well, of course. - 'Cause it's obviously associated with that. - Yeah, Lux is an interesting album for me lately. If I go back into it, I don't know how to describe it. It was just an interesting time. But I think it's the best album ever made as well. - I'm gonna have to say that I agree with you. 100% agree. - That part. Could you guys bring me my little Heineken? I just need a little lip. Ellen made this one. - Bring me my little Heineken. He wants a drunk drive again. - My lips have been so-- - Benny wants a drunk drive again. - Sponsored by Heineken, as always. - Thank you, darling. - We're not cutting this. This is how the sausage is made. And we don't do commercial breaks. - No, mama, mama. - I want it live streaming 55 minutes. - What else are we gonna do? Oh, I have to talk about Carrie. - We have to talk about Carrie. Hi, we watched Donnie Darko just while we're getting into spooky season. - I think it's fine. - I loved it. It holds up. Marymore and Donnie Darko is so fucking stunning. Noah Wiley also playing a teacher in that movie. The performances are incredible. It really, really just, it still works to this day. - Drew Barrymore is like a beauty beyond us. - She produced the movie too. It said flower films. - She's kind of new Ellen. Drew, that would be someone like if I found out like if they got, I would be devastated if Drew was like, but she's just not. - Yeah. - Drew Barrymore and Kevin Specie. I think if I heard that he had done anything bad, I would be like, I fucking love American beauty. - I know, I was just, I was just at Heathrow and I thought, this must be the place. - Yeah. 'Cause you met him, right? You guys hooked up. - Give me a little wave. - Okay. - Yeah. Made me feel young. - That's who I met Army Hammer through. - Oh, yeah. Well, they're all in cahoots. - Yeah. They're in a group chat. - There's a few people that are in too many photos with bad people, and I think we should just, I would love to get them on Ellen. Is what I would say with that. - You know what? I would like to get them on Dakota Johnson's talk show. - Oh, my God. - I think she could do some good and that's good work. - I would love to see her do a podcast. 'Cause again, nothing to lose. She just doesn't do it. - She did, I think she did the Vogue podcast recently. - Oh, I'm gonna listen. I'm gonna love it. - It's good. - I wanna talk to you about Carrie. - Please. - Time video, our home. - Da-da. - Can you say da-da for me? - Da-da. - I love making people repeat things is how I know that like I've still got them. Do you know what I mean? - Yeah, that's how you know. - And when they stop, that's what I know. - You've lost them. - Yeah, you're losing me. And also, thank you to everyone who just over the years has sent me the, you're losing me thing when they've tried it on people. A lot of people say that they really meant it when they say it, which I think is beautiful. - Carrie. So there is this remake of Carrie on Prime Video. Mike Flanagan is added again, that bomba clouds. - Who's that? - Oh, I don't know why that came into my ass. - This is gonna be a short episode. - Oh, my God. So Mike Flanagan, he's done like a lot of work. He did house on, not house on a haunted hill. A little teaser. What's coming from me. A, he did the haunting of Hill House. - Oh, cool. - Yes. And that like franchise. But he's like a legend in the horror space. This remake of Carrie, I kind of thought like, okay, we kind of just had a remake. And maybe you know, this is like, it's literally one of my favorite movies of all time. It's a perfect film. The original to see SpaceX. This one is so thoughtfully crafted. The music is incredible. There's a lot in Needle Drop. There's a, is it Houghton Freddy? Houghton Freddy? Is that what it's called? - This band is amazing. - I don't know. - They have this song Shy Girl, it plays in it. It's amazing. But they've managed to bring Carrie into the new millennia. And it actually works in like, it doesn't feel like a forced reboot of sort of like, it's actually really interesting how like, phones play into it. - I don't want it. - The mom, her name's Margaret Redd. Where she, no. So they start essentially someone starts like a fake account, like a meme account and they call it Carrie Redd because of the period situation that happens. Which thinking about it in modern days, actually like so harrowing to somebody who's like, bunkered down and doesn't know what's going on. Like it's, it is really sad. The lead actress is amazing. The woman who plays Margaret White is unbelievable. She starts like an Instagram account as well. And so now all these guys have accounts that are Margaret Redd. She starts an Instagram account to post like mom stuff. I can't give too much away because it's so, you are going to have, it is candy. I watched it today. - Did it all come out at once? - Yeah, it's all fabulous. - And it's just like, I just was completely, I was truly blown away by this because I was like, - I need more spooky content. - It's perfect for spooky season. - Don't. (beep) (laughs) - Um. (beep) - Everybody plays well. - Sorry, not funny. - A little bit. - Chris Martin in there. (laughs) - Chris Martin in there. - Um, but I, it's perfect for spooky season. It's so, I just thought it was so well done, well acted. And just like the new age of like Gen Z. And like also, there's this one scene where it carried us and no about school shootings. And they do. do like a shooting drill, it is like unbelievable. I don't know. - It's really going there. - It wasn't scared of going there. And the way that I was really impressed with. - Okay. - Jerry just coked. - No kidding. - But that would be, okay. - Well this does get high in the scene. - You stole me on it. - It is like such a, it was fabulous. - I look forward to watching it and then chatting with you after. - Another hit from Prime Video. - Yep, with Tinder group hangouts. - Oh come on, don't choke on your words. It's Tinder. - It's Tinder. - A group chat can actually go somewhere 'cause you know how the group chat goes, someone throws out what's the move tonight and it turns into 40 messages, three pulls, a bunch of reactions, maybe even what's that, a doodle. - Oh a doodle. - And then zero decisions. - So with group hangouts, you and your friends pick an activity. It can be drinks, mini golf, karaoke, motherfucker, whatever sounds like the fun move for you and your friends. Then you can find another group who are looking for the same vibe. No blind date, no forced pairing. Just your people doing something you were already gonna do. Except now there's a possibility for new connections and maybe romance. - I'm learning about this feature for the first time as well. - I know, I've known about it for a while. - You've been using it quite frequently. - Of course. - With a group chat, there's no pressure on any one person to carry the conversation. You're just planning a night out that happens to include some new faces. Tinder makes that easy to do. Here's what I love about this. Tinder said in the words of Catherine Hudson, "I'm not just one thing." - Exactly. Tinder has always been where connections wait. - Wait, you missed part of it. - Hey, hey, hang on, hang on, hang on. - Easy sound. - Maybe you all become friends. Maybe two people hit it off. Maybe three people hit it off. - Ooh. - Either way, I wanna tell people to do that more. During sex and dates going, "Egg." - I'm not sure I could do that. - Good. - If I wanted to. - Either way, you had a good night with your friends, which was never in question. - Tinder has always been where connections start. Now it's where you bring your friends along for the ride. - Oh yeah. - Come on! - Try Tinder group hanging out to bring your friends, pick a plan, meet new people. - Download Tinder today. - Of course. - I mean, hey, what could go wrong? - I mean, it's not the craziest idea. - Monopoly at McDonald's is back! - Woo! (upbeat music) - Woo! - You can't win if you don't play. Get your bag. - Today I'll be writing for Tom Scars. - And I will be writing for radical transparency. - Should we get into it? - Let's get into it. - So, do you wanna go first? - Ellen usually goes first. - And also it's fun 'cause this means a few different things. - So, jump scares is really interesting because traditionally obviously it meant times in a movie theater where you jump. - Yeah. - That are a little-- - Yeah. - And there are so many throughout history. My favorite, and I don't know if this actually counts as one, which is cool and I'm sure a version will let us know. (laughing) But, in the exercises, there's little flashes of the devil, like of the demon, and those made me kind of jump, so I feel like yeah, but it's really anything that has like perfectly, it is a science that miswests Craven perfected. - Well, you know right. - That miswests Craven to you, Dakota. - You know, when I jumped scared the most in a theater experience was with you seeing smile and reclining seats in Los Angeles. - Holy shit. - The first smile, I had not jumped like that in a theater in years. - And smile too, really, really Naomi's performance is unbelievable, but also Naomi, first name basis. - Well, you've had her on the show. - You've had her on the show. - Oh, good list. - Of course. - She was being said, Jasmine. - Of course. - But that one has, the second one really got me, and recently I saw Resident Evil. - I need to see that. - It is so fucking good. It's like an hour and a half in the theater that's just peering at her. - I have to see it. - Look at me, I'm watching stuff again. I wanna be out in culture. It gets to know what's going on. What the kids are talking about. - I'm sorry. - Play that new choice. - Your hairstyle just actually hit me. - What? - Your hairstyle. - What do you mean my hairstyle? We kept the chop, sorry. - It's like in the past I would have committed, but I just-- - It doesn't take anything away from it. - I know. My Ellen beat kind of ate George Santos' glam. - So jump scares traditionally one thing? - It's one thing, but then it became a thing of like, whoa, jump scare, like having somebody in a show that you weren't expecting. - Opening a photo, making it bigger, and there's something hiding you didn't see before. - Something's in the background. It's just, it's heaven. Some of my favorite are Wendy Williams in her incredible talk show. - When she'd burp in, she'd burp in fart. - She'd burp in fart, but there's one where she goes, it's a Halloween spec, her Halloween spectacular. And they, they into the crowd and someone's in this disgusting mask and she goes, wait, what was that? (laughing) My favorite, it's so, it's a confelations or just. - It's a perfect jump scare. The jump scare and overcompensating when Miles' girlfriend is there. - And when you do the Halloween special effect stuff. - Well, that-- - When they pull you back. - Oh my god, we literally had full jump scare. And you pulling up as Alice, Alice Cullen. That's also-- - This man wants me to get banged so damn bad. - I'll stop it, nothing. - It's not gonna happen. - God, it frames your face so perfect and I hate looking at your forehead. (laughing) Oh my god. Do you imagine? It'd be so easy to be a straight man and treat a woman well. You guys, my god, it's like, let me do it. Let me take care of you. I'll take care of you. - Drake and Ellen loved each other. All right, I'm gonna keep going. So as far as jump scares-- - Well, there's this as well, a true jump scare. - Well, the best-- - Fighting around the corner of somebody. - The best of it's kind. Do you know I love a prank? That, I think there is something so magical. The joy me and Molly had texting back and forth knowing that this was gonna happen. I told our manager, our shared manager to code an Ellen Sharon agent. Mack, she was like, I'm actually gonna piss myself. Like we were-- - I don't like not knowing stuff. - Every person I told I was doing this to you, they were like, she's gonna kill you. - You've been giving me a few jump scares because if I recall correctly, I was in the shower at your house. She was in the shower. I was in the shower at your house and the photo of the gay guys that's of one of their heads with the buzz cut. I thought it was a person. - And I thought the water pressure I'd knocked you out. - Well, you know, I'm so done with it. - I thought it knocked you down like Harry. - If the water's in the bathroom. - I just completely pass out. I can't, I'm just too, you know. Yeah. - And I was like, what? So a photo gave you a jump scare. That wasn't me. That was a photo on a wall. - I can't really, I am a very jumpy person. - Yes, of course. - So I can get a jump scare from almost anything. - Yeah, of course. - I lately, things have been jump scares to me. Sometimes seeing someone on the street will give me a jump scare. - Or a stomach ache. - A stomach ache. - When you see someone that you don't wanna see and it gives you, you have a physical response like someone punch you in the stomach. - Oh, yeah, absolutely. I have a- - Cool. - Just checking. - Yeah, no, I, every day. But to me, there's something so, it's a reminder that you're human. - Human. - It's being in the theater for Resident Evil and there were like five to 10 jump scares that like truly got me like full jump and I made a sound. And it's so fun. It's like also, I love going to like those haunted houses. I'm actually like breathe at those. - Right. - I can't think of the word brave without thinking about a fuck ass Pixar movie. - Yeah, brave, the movie brave. - What do you mean? - Brave. - You do it. - Brave. - What do you mean? - We have a Scottish family friend and his son's name was David and he would always go, "Oh, David." So we just, I just, that's a stem. That was an early stem of mine. In the house he's looking for David. Oh, David. (laughing) - I'm gonna let my fans see it. - Shout out to all of you. - Oh my God, nothing can make Ella laugh like this. I actually like wanna check on her. - Maybe she wouldn't have enough joy. - That's crazy 'cause like Porsche seems so lovely. I just think like my one take on her, I'm caught. My one thing on her is it's like she, people were so awful. They're her when she came out. And like, you know what, like women in the entertainment industry are treated like absolute shit. I think we can offer. - Well they're horse. - Well they're fucking sluts and they will let me fucking fight them. - Can I see one thing or David? (laughing) - Actually, I can't. - Can I see one thing about the women dressing as horrors at the gym? Where have you been? - No, exactly. - Where? - What have you been doing? - You've got pants Ben here. - You've got pants? I was wearing yoga pants. I was wearing leggings as pants in high school. - You know what's funny? It's like, but then I really, as we said, he hasn't seen gay guys at a gym. Go to an equinox big guy. - Go on the side. You'll see something that came to the line. - See no lines. - I know someone that was banned from Equinox from first on a behavior. (laughing) - Hey, don't talk about me like that. You know in Christmas vacation where she lifts up her skirt and goes see no lines. And the panty, that raised me. - That's you at the gym. - That's why I act like that. - That's why. - Oh yeah, what was I saying? - You're forgetting we're on a podcast. - Sorry, what was the thing? - You're brave for going to the theater and sitting through jump scares. - Oh no, I'm brave when I go to hunt. but it could have haunted houses. - All right. - Because I lead, I think it's fun to get the scale. If you don't-- - Yeah, we're gonna pay. - Yeah, well, exactly. If I'm paying my good, hard-earned fucking money, thank you, Prime Video, by the way, but if I am, if I'm in the back-- - I'm paying for the experience. - Yeah, I'm like, well, I know they're coming out person like screened have I been to one with you I think I have you went to one we did one right I don't mind jump scares and makes me feel alive I know I just think they're really beautiful I think seek them out in all in every day of your life junkies adrenaline junkies but cheap thrills I love cheap ass come on ladies and gentlemen see her I see pops out in there with Maddie Ziegler my queen I'm fucking a f***er I want to dance with her I want to dance I really want to learn a good routine with you like for real I know well yeah you know I plan for my linger cover I'm gonna take voice lessons for six years but we're just gonna work on the song linger and then I'm gonna post a cover of it and never address it oh I think it's going to be a pitch perfect cover no I know and I can see you in your room it's minimal makeup it's a little makeup of course just a little bit I like my girls with no makeup just a little bit concealer a little eye a little mascara lip liner lips a gloss on her top blush and body makeup yes body body makeup of course yeah so that's my big plan for my linger cover and who knows where I'm out in the process you know it's like I'm not gonna tell you but yeah it will sound really good and you'll be like oh remember when you asked for voice lessons for welcome to the black parade and they said no we like it in the audition how you did it we want it to be bad no so we want it bad as you did it my voice never recovered from that I didn't have the proper vocal warmups right last you incoming that's a jumpscare for you you know it's the ultimate jumpscare getting served papers like a subpoena or whatever they go are you Benny drama seven you've been served and they said wait from queers they go yeah from queers folk the reboot and the hand it's gonna go what then you're getting sued for every time you have soul custody of ride oh my god I'm gonna get I'm gonna replace you but yes so that we just we love I love a jump scare seek them out go to a haunted house and scare this shit out of your partner I'm so sick of straight guys that don't like horror movies like you make every day a horror movie for us and you can't sit in a fucking theater next to your girl while she goes whoa my read that was amazing but is that or I feel like that's not it's a thing it's a thing and maybe just the guys I date yeah I think oh I have no type except guys that don't like horror movies exactly I wait I think literally as I said pro harbor continue let's get into it so radical transparency which you taught me about I feel like I feel like if there's one thing I can bring to my relationships it's how to like teach radical transparency through action you send them off to the next one with a younger girl I do or younger guy even even younger gay guy yes so I love to practice radical transparency it's not always easy sort of ties into doing the thing it ties into being vulnerable it's all part it's all part of the same like I guess like mindset ethos and pathos not sure which one in my head you have bangs now sorry and so I think now yeah so I just think it's good to like sometimes you have to initiate difficult conversations you have to be honest with people you have to send a text you don't really want to send but I just think it can be so powerful because it it deepens your relationships and if people in your life can't handle radical transparency then maybe they shouldn't be in your life yeah and that's something that it would have really like been good for Ellen to know there's nothing scarier than the truth there's nothing scarier than the truth you've taught me that but also there's nothing more empowering than the truth I know the truth you see that duality of course it's a duality there's something really I think as a people pleaser it can be really hard but radical transparency of being like also it's very feeling feeling saying like you know what I'm just going to be totally honest like this is how that made me feel I can't do this podcast with this one anymore unless she puts a muzzle on breathe breathe oh David that is literally how I want to be so like I mean I'm you voice note and you can set it as your own I know I want it to be you okay can you read me the puller express with that I those are the only words I can say in the accent but I'll try oh David you know you're about to get yelled at David did something David did something crap you left something out he's been acting a fool so I know stuff and I know it's it's going to be hard and it's going to be the spookiest thing of all but what could be spookier than living a lie totally and living in fear and all that stuff and it's nearing the end of the year and I guess we need to maybe just like take stock of how the year went where our relationships are at and maybe there's conversations that you can have over some piggy putty oh you've really got yourself there bitch I make myself laugh so much so bring bring some piggy poop me texting I'm laughing my little ass off at my own stuff everything on the I was texting Owen Thiel recently and I said something I went fuck like there's also there's a glitch where you react to your own texts by accident sometimes I just leave it yeah of course I'm trying to react to the effort that I heard it but it's it's accidentally done putting my phone and I go you know what I stand by that and no I cook there no I'm leaving that seriously sometimes I mean your text to me our text back and forth I do it I screenshot a lot I don't want to forget yeah what is a well I guess it's hard to put people on the spot no say it why I was just gonna say like how is radical transparency like major life better uh it was helpful for overcompensating because I just had to I think just being honest about everything was great because then you're not I think when you do that when you were withhold it doesn't I do this thing as a Scorpio it is Scorpio season sorry to everyone that and done the hatches I I think I've said this on the pod but it's really crazy being a Scorpio because you say it to people and they're like yeah you like to come you know and you're like Jesus I'm like I'm at John the Jews by the way who's saying that people say that I mean to gay guys already they're like yeah it was so on a good yeah when you somebody's doggy I just want to say that we are we are like that because of y'all radical transparency you're gonna show me but hold on Instagram but if I ask you how the orgy was what I'm insensitive yeah figure that shit out amongst yourselves I would let us know who can say the slurs I'll take it to the I'll take it to the board if I'm if I can say the slurs I would love to I know not about people I know Dakota has not about people just general she's like what well you know she is a she is that gay best friend that she'd like you'll hear about it on the boat podcast oh I can only assume her friend is gay oh that shows her memes I think I've seen this she has a gay friend that shows her memes so like that every girl has that in their car well not every girl we live in the car not every girl exactly not every girl not every girl I was really sad recently I've been a this one tick talker and she I've just she goes to this place called seven brew it's some like coffee place in the south I think shout out to them by the way shout out to seven brew by the way we'd love to do a party new shit but I was watching and you know when it just hits you and you go I don't know our politics yeah and that was bummer and I just don't see any gay guys how saying politics or divisive wait let him cook wait I am fucking cook food and I don't get involved with all that it's a little divisive it's a little divisive for me it's just because it just like doesn't bring people together me at Thanksgiving at your house it's a little divisive I need some piggy putt let's get what do you think you put it I don't know pigs and putting it's putting or something good it's putting in it's a little big I do love pigs I love pigs but it's helped me with overcompetiting it's helped me I think grow up it's helpful as a grown-up to say how you're feeling and not as Scorpio as I was saying this what I was gonna say I bottle things and then I just store them all and then when I actually just let them out I let out like a laundry list of things that have bothered me and people are like you didn't say anything about any of those so I'm trying not to do that and it can be these it can be incremental I think once you start doing it like as a daily practice and this doesn't mean you should be a cunt to people it's just like once you start saying stuff more casually like it it's not such a big deal anymore Molly what do you mean by that yeah I know you guys have had some confrontations so many I've been using this with my mom because she'll pick me up from Connecticut sometimes and drive me home she drives like an F1 driver by the way this woman is out there and has of course a cheetah print steering wheel cover oh honey protect her at least one fight every time she drives me home because I feel unsafe and so this past time she someone's honking at her and I was like it's cuz you're you're straddling two lanes and she's like I know she kind of like went from zero to a honey yeah and then I said afterwards like I don't think that reaction was warranted I was totally calm coming to you with this and I just thought you might want to know I someone's honking at you and she was like yeah I know it's just because people have criticized my driving for a long time and so I I'm really sensitive yeah and then that was it that wasn't and you see that you see the humanity yeah I know that I would love to see Ellen sit down talk camera talk shop with us Ellen you're welcome on ride let's talk about this I would have Ellen on ride it's not actually like did like she didn't abuse her power like I think she's just cranky or something yeah so I think I could have a cranky guys to have her in plenty cranky guys yeah that are kind of rocking it out still that even more so than they ever have maybe yeah so that I don't know yeah I think we could maybe like figure it out I guess I'm a proletariat right yeah I guess I'm a proletariat I finally melt. You finally said the thing that like makes no sense. I have been trying to do that too of like how far could I go. But I'm here's what I'll say about that for myself. I am a very empathetic conversationalist. So even if someone says something that doesn't make sense, I'm never the one going, what did you just say? I'm like, I'll just repeat it back to them and and then we see if we we're going to stay in that zone or move on. Let's figure it out. I'm like making people uncomfortable. I hate people do that or they're like cool story. And like has anyone ever just like actually actively tried to make people feel better. I'm like, I have, I don't know, I'm not to be like pat myself on the back, but I'm just like that's so weird. I love making people feel comfortable. And sometimes having a conversation rooted in radical transparency, it can be a little uncomfortable. So you can just like present the information a kind way. I will say it feels so adult. It feels like therapy speak, but in a good way. Yeah. It's not weaponization. Yes. I'm using it for good. Thank you for bringing that here. I ride for radical transparency because I've been really trying to practice it as I've gotten older. It's hard as the youngest child. I know. You keep things bottled in. It's hard as a little sexual Scorpio to not just letter rib. But sometimes you got to just say it. And when you communicate something and someone meets you there, this is also important. If someone can't handle the radical transparency, you got to, you got to, you got to meet the relationship. So try, you can keep trying. But yeah, I find that sometimes people are not ready because we don't practice it in our society that much. Think about proletariat. Yeah, we're all thinking about that. I'm trying to keep talking all I think about it. It's not practice as much in our society. It's like whispering to other people about what you're frustrated by or like not. Yeah, I don't think like that honesty. We don't have a society based on honesty. So I think it makes people feel like on the back foot a little bit, but it doesn't have to. So you can try to like, yeah, just like work it in. And happy Halloween, by the way. I definitely ride for jump scares. You know, I'm always down to go to see a spooky movie. I would say the most, the genre I see in theaters the most is scary. Well, I think those ones that in the Odyssey, those are kind of like the two things like all horror films and the Odyssey should be seen in theaters. Doom 3 should be on a phone. Or an Apple Watch. That's personal Apple Watch. That's. Oh, oh shit. I'm doing playing on my Apple Watch. Sorry, sorry, my PSP is still playing Doom. My Nintendo Switch has me when I had my PSP. It was so far. I had Spider-Man in the Italian job as a movie. Yes. Or the game. Why the game Spider-Man? Because I loved web slinging. That was, we know, Scorpio. How is the son of, by the way, like a dirty pig bottom? Are you a little dog? I asked for me. Get on your knees, bitch. Oh, you have got something here. Yeah, I think you're new. But jump scares are happy to have you. I'm sorry. We had to do one, but I had to demonstrate in order to create this. This is a really gorgeous box. It was, it was both so in your face as maybe having someone in it. Yeah. That I really love how much you trust the right. That's true. It makes me sad for you in relationships that you trusted that. Thanks dad. Well, I love to Ellen had to go like this after fucking Dakota blew up the chat. She was like, don't have no more. Don't have the guy dressed as Ronald Reagan pop out at her. Yeah. Don't know gorilla suit today. And Merry Christmas. And Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas. And a Happy New Year. Breathe. Oh, David. Oh, my accent. Any babe, eyes on the road. There you go.
